I met a woman at @thepatchworkshow last year. She said she had a box of comics and was curious as to the value. There weren't a lot of valuable comics there but plenty of cool ones. We decided on a trade a bit of money along with a collage from one of the comics in the box. In the early 80s Marvel did an imprint called Epic. Epic had more adult stories with really high quality printing, no ads, and a much higher price point. Much of the box featured comics like this and similar sci-fi/fantasy comics of that era. The lack of ads meant the front and back cover featured images ripe for collaging. I haven't made a collage in a long time and don't see any in the immediate future (I'm working on a novel visit me @josiahiswrite for updates) but this was a fun one to make. I love making more interesting and obscure comics into art like this.
