I went on a rant on my IG story a few weeks ago and just wanted to share it here cuz i went in depth and got a bit too passionate
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
transcript after cut
i fucking love mha
like its honestly my favorite show right now
is it perfect? fuck no
you have to be dumb as shit to think this show is perfect
there are so many things wrong with it omfg
but thats not what i wanna get into
what i wanna get into is the fandom and it portrayal of erasermic
EraserMic is probably one of the best things to come out of the show
Its literally the story of the two characters grieving the loss of a close friend and never really healing from it. BUT FUCKING NO
THATS NOT WHAT THE FUCKING FANDOM WANT TO FOCUS ON
THEY WANNA FOCUS ON FUCKINH "dadzawa and mamamic"
FUCKING SHUT UP
THEY REDUCE THESE COMPLEX AND INTERESTING CHARACTERS INTO CARICATURES AND OVER EXAGGERATIONS OF ONE ASPECT OF THEYRE PERSONALITY
AIZAWA
bros legit a dude that would sacrifice everything for the sake of other people
his self destructive behaviors are stated multiple time in the show and in vigilantes
he does not view himself as something that is important
he views himself as simply a tool for the betterment of other people
thats why hes a teacher
he literally doesnt own any personal items
all he has in his fucking apartment is his sleeping bag
he doesn't allow himself to get sentimental
after oboros death he became closed off and didn't allow himself to work though what happened
the only thing he focused was training
even to the point of ignoring his physical needs
he doesn't let himself get attached
he doesn't even open when mic tries to reach out to him
BUT FUCKING NOO ALL THE FANDOM WANTS TO FOCUS IN IS FUCKING DADZAWA
LIKE LET IT GO
YES DUDES A GOOD TEACHER
BUT HES NOT JUST THERE TO BE TIRED BITCH
WHY DO THEY FIXATE SO MUCH THE FUCKING TIREDNESS???
LIKE I GET "hahahaha funny trait" GET NEW MATERIAL OMFG
MIC
mic is so interesting to me cuz if the fact that "Present Mic" is simply just a persona
Mic is this outgoing loud person
Hes bombastic and enthusiastic
hes the fun guy
hes the guy that people go to when they want to chill and have a laugh
Yamada Hizashi is quiet and observant
He was the first person to suggest that there was a traitor in UA
He is the one that takes care of aizawa when hes drunk (i love the fact thats literally canon omfg)
Hes the one people see but dont notice
Present Mic is literally a Caricature of what he wants to be for people - easy and outgoing
THEY ALWAYS MAKE HIM THE PAPAMIC SHIT THAT I SEE OVER AND FUCKING OVER AGAIN
IT PISSES ME OFF SO FUCKIG. MUCH OMFG
One thing i saw someone point out is how you can tell when he is hizashi and when he is mic
When hes Hizashi - his eyes are visible
When hes Mic - all you can see are his glasses
Hizashi doesn't cope with the death of Oboro either. He never focuses on himself
He is always focused on what Aizawa feels. Which is why this shit is favorite
Its the fucking dysfunctionality of it
Hizashi never deal with his shit he just states whats happened.(ex. when midnight died - he just simply stated the obvious without actually confronting the subject at hand)
He is always focused on the others
(Hence, why he never told aizawa that they were actually going for his quirk instead of Oboro)
This is why they both work so well and dont at the same time.
They both use the same ideaology (putting other infront of you no matter what)
but using different methods
for aizawa its focusing on bettering himself to use himself as a tool to improve others
for mic its not focusing on yourself at all and putting all his attention onto others

Saw your tags about MHA being a lesson in restraint when it comes to having different opinion than the fandom norm and please take this ask as an excuse to share your MHA thoughts <- I want to know them if you're willing to share
Oh ho ho I will gladly talk about how my MHA opinions differ from fandom thank you for the opportunity. That said I'm basing what 'fanon' is on what seems to be most popular in fan fics and popular posts I see on Twitter and Tumblr
Also I'm breaking this up into sections because I've noticed a lot of my fanon opinions tends to overlap
Fanon uses character interactions as proof of ships, cliques, or found families instead of considering each interaction as part of a narrative whole. Now, I know this isn't unique to MHA, every fandom does this to some extent, however with a cast as large as MHA's it's more prevalent when so many ships overlap. Each major or even minor interaction is "proof" of a ship being canon and is more or less valid than "proof" for other ships - meanwhile the narrative so rarely cares about romance (barring the Toga/Uraraka/Deku subplot) that arguing about any of that feels very pointless. Bakudeku shippers are the most guilty to me about this; for example, in a recent chapter when Deku thinks about how Iida held his hand and helped him feel calm (a moment that ties into the larger narrative theme of helping a lost child by taking their hand), I saw Bakudeku shippers try to pretend Deku was actually thinking about how much he wanted to hold Bakugo's hand since he never took it in their youth, despite that never being hinted at. I don't even dislike Bakugo or Bakudeku as a ship but it gets so grating when I see big moments for other characters get watered down because they don't fit a shipping lens, which goes doubly for MHA where the narrative supports the idea that everyone is important and everyone should help everyone no matter who they are to them.
While I'm beating the Bakudeku hornet's nest I might as well throw in my grievances with the Erasermic Family and its persistence in almost every. Single. Fic. Or at least the ones I read because Aizawa is one of my favorite characters, but so many Aizawa-related fics I've read seem intent on making Present Mic his husband and Shinsou his adopted son. Listen. Erasermic is fine. It's fine. I even like it from time to time. I just wish it wasn't a fanfic staple because I actually think their canon relationship of comfortable-yet-somewhat-strained old high school friends is much more interesting to explore, especially with the twist of Shirakumo's fate. It also cheapens Present Mic sometimes, because Present Mic is usually portrayed in these fics as... how should I say this... motherly? Wife-like. I don't like that. He's a silly goofy guy but he's also impulsive and angry and puts on a facade and that nuance almost never gets translated when he's transplanted into a domestic familial role with Aizawa. Shinsou being Aizawa's son also feels like it cheapens Shinsou's character arc in a way? I don't hate the son theory I guess but Aizawa clearly only trained him, not adopted him, and making Shinsou a "mini-me" of sorts tends to blur his actual character and motivations to be the same as Aizawa's when they're not. The only dynamic here that has any canon foothold is Aizawa being an adoptive father to Eri. I think Aizawa being a dad to most of the other kids is overblown sometimes but he will always be Eri's dad to me. Present Mic is like her goofy uncle.
Fanon loves making backstories too tragic. Two of the most popular fic tropes I see either makes Midoriya's mom abusive or gives Shinsou a muzzle and abusive foster family, which... okay, one thing I really love about MHA canon is that everyone has a good reason for what they do and everyone suffers a little hardship due to the way society is all in varied and relatable ways. Characters like Midoriya and Shinsou DO suffer in canon but not any more than being bullied in middle school for their quirk or lack of quirk, which I think works well enough for two boys who still aspire to be good and still have some faith in the system that hurt them like most people in this universe do. Characters like Toga, Twice, and Shigaraki already have plenty of tragedy to justify their villainy, as well as Hawks who also has a tragic backstory and serves as a hero counter for them, so it doesn't appeal to me to so often give that pain tenfold to characters who don't fit those roles beyond a what-if exercise.
Fanon takes things characters say at face value and accepts the most shallow interpretation of a character. This is especially true for liars like Dabi and Hawks, who often say one thing and mean another. It's not as much of a problem at current since both Hawks and Dabi are probably at their most authentic in canon right now, but it's still an issue in fics I read where Hawks is presented genuinely as a flirty and cocky hero and Dabi is presented genuinely as someone who doesn't care about anyone but himself. It's really frustrating when something I love about Hawks is his nuanced interactions with almost every other character, which are always glossed over in his discourse. I'll give two of the most glaring examples:
Tumblr media
I've almost never seen a take about this scene that justifies why Hawks does this - I usually only see comments about how he's getting into Todoroki's space, isn't aware of personal boundaries, or is being too nosy in the family drama. To me, the answer to why he does this is clearly deeper: he's dropping his laid-back facade and asking a serious question all while putting himself in Todoroki's shoes and planting himself firmly on Todoroki's side. He wants an answer to the scar because the answer is important to him; if Endeavor was the one who inflicted it, it would have tarnished the view he had of his old hero because Hawks knows what it's like to have an abusive father. This is only further cemented when later on Hawks says Todoroki is better than he is because Todoroki is finding it within himself to help the parents who hurt him, unlike Hawks, who feels he abandoned his own.
Tumblr media
There's also this and other panels during the fight with Twice ("I'll be sure to tell that to the league") where Hawks seems to be rubbing salt in the wound and overall being a dick about betraying Twice's trust, and I've seen the interpretation here that Hawks is simply being a dick because he is one. And, I mean, this isn't to say that Hawks can't be a dick sometimes, but in the moment it feels like a culmination of two things: 1. Half of this interaction is framed through Twice's POV, so of course we're seeing the worst of Hawks here, and 2. Hawks is intentionally distancing himself from the Hawks he knows would have gladly been Twice's friend, because he knows there's a chance he might have to kill him. Whenever we're in Hawks' head during this fight, it's always focusing on how much he doesn't want to fight Twice and how much hope he has for things to turn out for the better. When he finally makes up his mind that he can't turn it in his favor, he turns cold and harsh again, probably as a coping mechanism similar to Lady Nagant's. Also frustrating when people use this as an example of in-universe police brutality when in actuality Hawks is a groomed child soldier acting very hesitantly to fulfill government orders. Those two issues are not the same.
Oversimplification isn't contained to Dabi and Hawks, though. Kaminari flirts sometimes so all he is is a flirt, Midoriya cries sometimes so he's submissive and weak, Iida is bossy sometimes so he's a goody-two-shoes stick-in-the-mud. One-note fanon characterizations plague almost every character and that does almost none of the actual characters justice. Any character with more relevance than, say, Ojiro has more than one side to them in canon that doesn't get captured all that much in fanon.
Fanon overanalyzes things that are Shonen convention. It's funny, on one hand, I think fanon interprets characters too shallowly, and on the other, I think it reaches far too deep to draw conclusions where the actual answer is "because the author wanted it." Aizawa and All Might bear the brunt of this mischaracterization because they're the main adults in this series, so all of their missteps feel overanalyzed to prove an abuse of authority when actually it's just irrational decisions made to keep the story moving forward. "All Might was irresponsible for telling a quirkless kid he didn't have a chance at becoming a hero and leaving him alone on a roof" I guarantee you the implications of that was probably not even a thought when that scene was written, and if it was, All Might certainly wouldn't have assumed them or else he would have dealt with that differently. "Aizawa is a bad teacher for not expelling Bakugo after he almost killed Deku in their first test" if he expelled Bakugo or had properly dealt with their toxic relationship earlier we would not have a story. "Aizawa is a bad teacher for not expelling Mineta for being a creepy weirdo" if he expelled Mineta then Horikoshi wouldn't have his favorite comic relief pervert archetype. Sometimes we just have to say "Horikoshi wanted this to happen so that's why it happened that way" and move on.
Fanon has selective memory and short attention span. Maybe this is just because there seemed to be a falling off of fandom participation around the time of Season 5, but a lot of fanon I've seen seems stuck in pre-season 5 era characterizations, sometimes even pre-Season 3. Bakugo and Endeavor both have some of the best character developement in the series, and Aizawa also has a lot of subtle growth, but people tend to focus on how bad Bakugo and Endeavor were in Season 1-3 and how good Aizawa is in Season 4, even though Aizawa was also kind of an asshole Season 1-3. It tends to lead to some cartoonishly evil takes on Bakugo and Endeavor and overly-saccharine takes on "Dad"zawa. I say this also as someone who loves Aizawa and is fairly neutral on Bakugo and Endeavor, but I just don't think fanon takes in the whole picture of their character arc sometimes.
Those are my big umbrella opinions, I have more minute ones (especially regarding Iida, Aizawa, and Hawks) but I've already ranted long enough. I know a lot of this comes down to a young fanbase but to be honest the people I tend to disagree the most with are my age so I can't chalk it all up to that lol. Anyways thanks for the chance to rant!

Villain!Aizawa au
First and foremost, he’s absolutely done with the hero society bs
He’s still the protective dad but dilled up to a 1000%
Ends justify the means
Cold, analytical, detached (like not stoic but straight up doesn't emote)
->Not when it comes to children, absolutely has a parental instinct that goes haywire when it comes to kids and his students, after his shitty ass childhood he overcompensates by helping every kid he sees even mildly distressed (But he would be caught dead before addmiting it)
He comes from a wealthy family, quirkist family that was disgusted with his out-of-the-left-field quirk, that has sent him to foster care(which is apparently super shitty in Japan)
He wanted to become a hero out of spite bc people called him a villain when he was a kid (worked out really well for you buddy)
->Shirakumo’s death was the last nail in the coffin of his hero career (it shattered his worldview so much that he didn’t even want to think ab it)
He graduated from UA at the top of his class and with a shiny new hero license that he promptly ignored. Using his knowledge from basically living on the streets he decided to disappear from the radar and go into villainy bc–
He knew he couldn’t bring any change to the hero society as an Underground hero(didn’t even think about teaching, in the canon, it’s Nemuri who dragged him in so here he doesn’t consider it either)
He’s well aware of and hates the rampant inequality and senseless death (of young heros) caused by the greed of  the industry that’s why:
He wants to change the way it works, even if he’ll have to get his hands dirty
By the time of the 1A hell class year he successfully took over a big part of the criminal underworld and made it quite orderly and logical (don’t ask me how yet but he built his imperium on loyalty and respect, ppl r just scared shitless of him (the mystery he created around himself) and everyone who joined his cause knows the golden rule “treat people like you want to be treated”. Aizawa awards loyalty and punishes disloyalty(anyone who goes against his rule of conduct)).
Seeing as this wasn’t enough decided to go a step further and start infiltrating the government and the hero commission itself
He started teaching at UA to get the favour of Nedzu, one of the most influential people in the whole of Japan
In this au Aizawa disappeared off the face of the earth after graduation, at which his friendship with Yamada and Kayama was already strained after Shirakumo’s death. When he suddenly joined the teaching staff after 7 years they didn’t recognize him, he was like a different person who once again wasn’t looking for any meaningful connections and this time succeeded at keeping everyone at arm's length.
Aizawa is slightly more put together in this, he learned to weaponize his looks, and he knows how he wants people to perceive him and dresses accordingly. So he doesn’t exactly look like a “homeless hobo in a trashbag” when in his “hero” gear (it’s just a tactical suit, he refused to put any kind of effort into the hero bullshit) but looks competent and threatening.
He nearly always wears his mask (spare capture weapon that acts as protection), the only time you see him without it is when he’s undercover or going to get groceries(he wears sunglasses then, listen at least one of his facial features has to be hidden at any time).
He basically never sleeps, by day a teacher and by night a criminal overlord-*cough*-underground hero.
He is technically the UA traitor, though not the one they are looking for :)
Now onto the fun part;
Students are SUPER curious about him, though he scares most of them
Rarely he gets phone calls during class, he always steps out to answer them(in code ofc, and he answers cause everyone knows to not bother him unless it’s important)
1A was extremely disappointed when the dorms were established and he continued wearing his mask 24/7 (listen the dorms are too fun and have too much potential for me to let them go)
Shinsou and Midoriya have seen his face
Shinsou saw it a few years back when Aizawa scared off his bullies
Midoriya saw it at the USJ when Aizawa used his primary capture weapon to deflect Shigaraki's attack (which fucked up his elbow in canon) and had to use his spare one as the primary one got disintegrated
USJ happens, but it goes differently, it happens a week into the classes(the sports festival happens a round a month after the school year starts). Aizawa is a bit blindsided by it, he knew that some new group of villains was congregating but he honestly didn’t expect them to do anything for a few more weeks.
he was absolutely pissed when he learned that it was about All Might
He doesn’t get smushed into a pie because a)he didn’t get injured by Shiggy so he was able to jump away from the nomu b)his own reinforcements arrive to act as a diversion exactly at that second.
He is so pissed after the whole ordeal, all his focus goes into obliterating the villains who were stupid enough to attack his students

So am wondering, does Midoriya learning hand to hand combat and martial arts after USJ makes sense with his character? He is supposed to be the Deku who does his best. He declared to All might that he needs to become stronger. not just make it to UA and trial behind. Even during USJ Midoriya learnt an important lesson from Aizawa which is not be a One trick pony. All of this and yet he doesn't learn how to fight and advance his base combat skills, learn martial arts etc. Like he should've realised that he can't depend on his non mastered quirk all the time and started to learn MMA or any other martial arts. Yet he doesn't do it. Even during Grand Torino's internship, he doesn't reflect on his other weakness and try to overcome them. Once he controls OFA, he becomes bland and unbearable to watch. it makes no sense narrative wise for him to not learn and improve in combat with and without his quirk.
He is also way smarter, tactical and talented compared to Bakugou and i would even say at an equal to Momo and we can see this early on in Season 1. Izuku is capable of doing it. But yet he doesn't and instead he behaves like a dumb kid before the sports festival.
Makes me wonder if Hori, made him dumb so that other characters can shine at his expense. Like Bakugou, Uraraka, Momo, etc. Like why Uraraka who was mediocre in fighting and was way behind Izuku is allowed to learn Martial arts after Sports festival while Izuku is not given the same chance after the sports fest. He gets left behind. So is he supposed to be shit in fighting compared to characters who were way behind him once when he is supposed to be the strongest in S3.
He even loses to Bakugou at 8% which is supposed to more faster and stronger than explosion. He loses because he was predictable which is BS considering, this is the same kid who beat, Stain, Muscular and has real-life experience compared to Bakugou while the latter is just a hype and nothing more and also he wasn't in the right mind to think since he was busy bitching about All might's retirement. I honestly think that Hori Hyped Bakugou to the moon for his combat skill when he himself is mediocre. There is no evidence of him training his combat skills the right way. I mean this is the guy who only goes after the weak and acts as if winning against them is a big thing. Just a big fish in a little pond lol.
Hello 😀 thank you for your ask. I love talking about the flaws on MHA. So...before I answer, please, keep in mind how Hori is clearly playing against his MC. I don't know if you go to the writeblogger section of Tumbler but...in there some authors comment how "I need to hurt my ocs for character development"
We laugh (or not)
But here is the big difference betwen them and Hori.
"I killed MC's BFF just so he could see how the situation is serious and he needs to step up his game"
Hori? "Izu needs to be humble. So let make him be saddle with his abuser and still think he is useless and have no real support but give to his abuser"
Many people think Izu should have remained quirkless. I strongly disagre. If he had been quirkless...then he couldn't be a hero. We see how heroes NEED a quirk, we never ever seen a hero not rely on his quirk.
I also dont agree with the whole "quirkless = death" I was thinking about this last night. I think quirked peope just ignore quirkless and can co-exist with them.
Yes many fics make IZU be the butt of all "quirkless discrimination" but in canon ONLY BK show issues with Izu(and Izu alone, while he bullied others in Aldera he never mentioned "quikrless? Die" if Izu had a quirk since day 1...he would have bullied him too)
As for training...ask yourself this
What was Izu planning to do in order to be a hero? Say AM has said "yes everyone can be a hero" ok...then what?
This is a red flag.
Ok Izu is training during 10 months (time passage in mha is terrible) ok...he gains muscles, AM does nothing after that.
Aizawa is the worst teacher (he would be way worse if he was a true perv) his exam helped no one and was so pointless.
(It serves to prove how BK is the special boy for Hori)
Note how no one in UA helps the students - Aizawa went to help someone who is not his student, instead of the boy who has a quirk who breaks his bones- and no one cares Izu is breaking his bones.
"If he breaks his bones again. I wont heal hom" Recover Girl.
Izu, of he had a good writer, could have been the first hero to actually use quirkless style of fight.
He was amazing in that race as he didnt need his quirk.
He won.
But Hori is against his mc...for some wierd reason. Izu cant get credit nor win.
Plus Izu not only should have wipe BK's face on the floor but so should he have done the same to class A1 in "let's capture Midoriya bc we know best"
But again
Hori is against his MC.
He even went as far as to draw a "mascot" based on BK.
This man...ruined his entire manga in favour of a useless character such as BK.
Like Izu can't be mad for himself. He still think he is worthless.
His hero name is Dekiru but ...Hori still goes ans make him accept "useless" like Hori...you suck as writer.

🧨BNHA SPOILERS🧨
Just had an absolute ROUGH time accepting what has happened in the latest BNHA chapter (ill be completely honest- i only care because edgeshot is my favorite character) and spent the last 15 minutes in the edheshot tag and one, very important thing stuck out to me...
I'm, like, 90% SURE that
EDGESHOT HAS FACIAL HAIR?!? LIKE OKAY LOOK-
Tumblr media
THATS NOT BLOOD, THATS NOT SHAVING FOR A COUPLE DAYS
But now the question needs to be asked; is this a post war arc thing, or has he always just had a little scruff? Like this just puts edgeshot in a completely different light for me. Here he comes across as completely put together and he's secretly had a mustache for WHO KNOWS HOW LONG.
With this last chapter and prior knowledge im starting to realize that edgeshot and aizawa are actually...pretty similar. They seem to have similar ideas when it comes to protecting/teaching students, stick to the shadows (its Canon edgeshot keeps his personal life a 100% mystery from the public eye) and now they both don't care for the clean shave look.

So with Advice of the Dead
so with advice of the dead (and a halo over my head) by phantasm png
For as long as Eri can remember, the boy with purple hair has been a constant.
They share a cell in Overhaul's complex. Or at least, she thinks they do. Sometimes, she comes back from sessions with Overhaul, and she's really sleepy, and she can't see him anywhere, and she'll panic for a second before the mean adults put her to sleep.
He was the one who taught her to read. He's older than her, so he knows a lot more than she does, but he's nice to her. He doesn't mock or tease her like the mean adults do, and even though he can't speak because of the bandages around his mouth, he taught her two new different languages they can use to talk. --- An Eri and Shinsou grow up together in the facilities of the Shie Hassaikai fic! I’m too lazy to write fic but mineta sucks ass and I think all fic that doesn’t involve beating him up, having him be a major antagonist, or forcing him into redemption shouldn’t include him at all so here are some mineta replacement ideas because I’m tired of seeing Shinsou replace him, Shinsou being in gen ed is important to his character.
add an oc
add a background character
kick someone out of class b so there are only 19 students per class
yoarashi inasa(preferably put him in class b and put a b student in class a so the whole “fuck endeavor you’re just like him” “no fuck you he sucks ass” arc is still delayed a bit)
toga himiko(I’m a sucker for a villain rehab or just a crazy bitch who still does good)(also preferably put her in class b bc Vlad would be a better teacher with her quirk)
legit just replace him with someone with the exact same quirk that doesn’t harass people for entertainment
swap him with a class b student and give him zero screen time(this is the worst option bc he still exists)
swap him with a class b student and add someone else to class b
swap him with a student from a different school(yes I know all of them minus Yoarashi are second years but shush)
have Aizawa expel him the second he walks in
add a character from canon content that isn’t the main manga/anime
add a character from a different fandom that you like or a character based on them
replace him with a character that only got in via loopholes (ex. Hatsume passed the exam by figuring out how to manually shut off the robots)
replace him with an aged down/up character
kill him off the second he walks in
hopefully these suffice

TheLreads, Vigilantes ch 98, Replies Part 1
1) "Ohhhhh Yeaaaah! Time for some vigilantism folks! Time to once again take a deep breath and behold the nightmares that furuhashi shall unleash on my poor psych. Onward and fear no darkness and all that. It’s time to see how Koichi is gonna escape this one, Aizawa is here, and although he’s not as fast, when he’s around neither is Koichi.”- Still didn’t make much difference, as apparently Aizawa’s spiderman-technique isn’t as fast-paced as Izuku’s Blackwhip will later be. I’d say he was getting too old for this, but he’s canonically younger than he is in MHA’s timeline and all.
2) “Yeah koichi, but be positive, it could’ve been worse, they could’ve put All Might here, on Captain Celebrity
Actually C.C. here would’ve been fucking awesome and would give a real emotional impact- dammit now I want to see C.C. again.”- Bet you never thought you’d be saying that when he first showed up, eh? 3) “it certainly has been Koichi, and we hoped that it would be even longer, but here we are.”- Long enough to reach MHA’s timeline without any embarrassment to Aizawa’s character, perhaps? “Points for Aizawa calling him by the right name, even if it is a sign of respect for an opponent he’s about to beat the shit out of”- To be fair, it’s on point with his later teaching methods. 4) “Dammit Aizawa, he was a bit to the right, you need to recalibrate your aim”- Aizawa decided to go with the “aggressive intimidation” method of beating the lesson into Koichi, since just talking isn’t enough to dissuade him. Needed to demonstrate to this boy what state he’s be carrying his bound body back to the authorities in. 5) “Yeah, sure Aizawa, they definitely are
I mean, considering how easily they let him go I would almost be willing to believe they are just here so another hero that doesn’t sympathize with Koichi takes their place and actually catches him, like Fires Georg”- They’re not completely incompetently nerfed by Furuhasi to show off Koichi’s skills, so there’s at least a little bit of leeway in them holding back their 100% on him. Except Aizawa, but he’s actually fairly close to Koichi’s skillset already, so long as there’s enough distance between them. 6) “oh, is he now
is he, Aizawa
that means that a vigilante that was involved in a pretty high-profile villain fight, who everybody knows the name of and where he lives, was just allowed to wander free for the past three-non-important-years”- There was a lot of grey area applied to Koichi’s role in the incident. “Ask me no questions, I’ll tell you no lies” kind of deal. 7) “Uhhhh- Aizawa did you crushed that metal pipe like a plastic cup
Did I saw that right? I know those scarves are strong, but jesus, I think there’s something weird here”- Aizawa’s “dad instincts” are kicking in strong and giving him the strength of 10 men….all to beat the shit out of Koichi with. 8) “Aizawa what the fuck was the way you ripped this metal pipe
it doesn’t look like it simply disconnected from the other two segments, it looks more like it was ripped like it was plastic”- Maybe they only used the cheap building materials in Koichi’s neighbourhood, since it was likely gonna get torn down by a villain street brawl anyway. 9) “Oh nice moves there Koichi, Aizawa is mildly impressed by it, so much so he almost could blink. Almost.”- The one thing Aizawa wasn’t expecting: Somebody who can fight without a quirk assist, just like him! Like he said, they’re basically a rarity nowadays with how flashy Quirk have grown. 10) “He’s giving up on his previous identity, he’s no longer the crawler, he’s now the runner
and boy is he running right now
but even so, I’m slightly surprised Aizawa hasn’t caught him already”- It being his neighbourhood backyard, he knows all the shortcuts to take, even moving on foot, whilst Aizawa still has to locate him time and again every time he ducks around a corner Quickly. 11) “OKAY YEAH, EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT, HOW DID AIZAWA LET HIM GOT THAT FAR FROM HIM
HE’S ON FOOT
AIZAWA IS SPIDER-MAN-ING AROUND”- It might have taken Aizawa a moment or two to get the elevation above ground to swing after Koichi, which he used to get a head start. Lacking peter Parker’s spider-strength, he can’t just leap straight up to get above the buildings, so it takes him a bit of time to ascend.
12) “…
is that… is that a Nomu?
is that another Nomu, but now “disguised”?”-
(Later on…) Police: So, can you describe these “suspicious individuals” to us? Civillain: I dunno what he looked like exactly, his face was too black….er, I mean, his face was darker than the blackest void….I mean his whole body was like, made of ebony darken- oh, uh Wait, It's just that, they all looked the exact same way- aw F%%! 13) “OH MY GOOD LORD
OKAY SEEMS LIKE McBEE IS ON THE MOVE I SUPPOSE
AND AIZAWA IS HERE, SO THIS IS GONNA BE A SHORT-LIVED FIGHT I SUPPOSE”-Not if he’s planning to fight in the shadows of the unseen this time… Nomura’s stopped trying to be the hero who stands in the spotlight, now he’s the villain who wears the darkness as a tool to sate his ambitions. 14) “Koichi please, he’s a famous hero and you two were around each other for the better part of a year, how did you not know that first-hand and need to rely on information from other sources?!”- Aizawa’s not really one to freely give out intel about how his Quirk works, and Koichi is, as we have long established, very dense at noticing stuff. The Hottas being the ones who provided this info – incorrectly assuming some details along the way – makes more sense, especially if they’re partially guessing from just observing Aizawa in action. 15) “WELL EXCUSE ME, WASN’T THE CONDITION SUPPOSED TO BE THAT AIZAWA NEEDED TO BLINK BEFORE IT STOPPED WORKING, AND THAT DIRECT LINE OF SIGHT WAS NOT NECESSARY ONCE IT WAS ACTIVATED? BECAUSE THIS IS NOT WHAT THEY ARE IMPLYING RIGHT NOW, AND I HOPE I`M GETTING IT WRONG”- Yeah, but the Hottas would only be able to assume this based on how the target reacts when they see Aizawa doing hero work, as his goggles are designed to help hide both where he’s looking and when he’s blinking, so they couldn’t deduce that characteristic. And Since Koichi is managing to evade Aizawa for several minutes longer than most, he’s blinking in the time it takes him to get another look at Koichi – the only reason he could keep the trick going as long as he did against Tomura was Manuel’s delicate aid, so an intense chase like this will make it easier for him to blink whilst on the move. 16) “Yeah Koichi, but luckily there’s a nice heap of garbage down there to save your ass. Knuckles let it there years ago because he knew this day would come and you would need it to fight Aizawa. There’s a gun on the bag on the left.”- Koichi has graduated from Trash-landing to managing to swing him own way through the streets. Honestly, I’d have loved to see him incorporate more gadgets like the grappling hook into his costume, much like Izuku’s constantly refining his own look and support benefits. 17) “Well, I mean, he had a quirkless teacher to show him the ropes. Can’t rely on your quirk alone, you need to be ready for every single situation, you know that Aizawa.”- Yeah, but for somebody trained out with the hero curriculum, Koichi’s showing above-average adaptability and decisiveness in how to handle himself even when de-powered, which is something Izuku also dealt with from the opposite perspective, only being able to be “super” for a single move at first. A young kid like him showing surprising skill at handling himself even when powerless is something Aizawa would be proud of if he were his student, but as his opponent, that same tenacity and resourcefulness is a massive pain in the butt to deal with non-lethally. 18) “AIZAWA WHY YOU TAKING OFF THE GLASSES, THEY AREN’T SUPPOSED TO HINDER YOUR QUIRK”- For the big dramatic staredown, obviously, 19) “Aizawa I feel like you’re making this unnecessarily difficult for yourself. Sure, Koichi is showing a lot of quick-thinking and using everything he has on his arsenal, but I still feel like you’re really not bringing your A-game to this chase”- Yeah, Aizawa’s got a bad habit of being a big softy towards kids, no matter how harsh his demeanour on the outside. He might lambast the other heroes for being “irrational” in not handling Koichi with full seriousness right from the start, but even he figured Koichi wouldn’t take more than half his usual effort to stop. 20) “Oh my god is Tenya still on the chase?
Fucking love that guy, but oh my god, Koichi evaded him before the sun set, this is like the middle of the night already, talk about persistence.”- Tensei’s not one to quit in a race before the final whistle blows. Until Koichi’s apprehended, he’ll keep his legs pumping. 21) “Oh it’s Soga- WAIT WHY DOES SOGA HAVE MIDNIGHT’S NUMBER
WHAT THE FUCK”- Maybe she gave it to him and the others when they first rescued Pop, since they showed they were trying their best to help her in their own way 22) “Well, neither were every single person reading this goddamn manga, but alas, here we are. No negotiating it, at least not yet, give it another ten minutes and Koichi’s gonna get away”- Koichi’s popularity amongst the official heroes backfired on him. No matter how high-ranking Phelps is, he likely couldn’t have gotten this much hero support on this endeavour if the others didn’t respect Koichi’s sincerity and realise that he does have heroic potential within him, that he’s throwing away by turning himself into a vigilante and risking himself in the line of duty. @thelreads

I honestly just want more of your headcanons for mha if you have them? :3
note: I have this note on my phone with all my random mha headcanons that's like, a mess of characters and plots, so it might be a bit all over the place, but here we go! tw: canon typical violence, scarring, burns etc for Dabi
Shoto is totally the type to sign his texts like "friendly regards, Shoto Todoroki", and uses super appropriate punctuation and stuff, but he also uses all the overly expressive smileys ( :3 xD UwU :c ^u^ etc) because Izuku does it, and Izuku is the first friend Shoto texted, so he thinks this is normal
and nobody has the heart to tell him otherwise
Denki having adhd is one of my favorites, I've already mentioned this, but it's kinda important to me, lol
I also love to think that Denki is a super supportive friend, and that he genuinely cares for everyone in his class, and knows them all really well, he's just a person that's so genuine and caring, it makes it very easy to open up to him!
okay Shinso and Denki are gamer boyfriends, they can sit together in the dark on their gaming computers and talk to each other on discord for hours and call it quality time
I think the burns under Dabi’s eyes were on purpose, or, at first he tried to wipe his tears when he was upset, much like what happened with Kirishima, but when he realized he couldn't cry from that eye after, he did it again to the other one so he wouldn’t cry in front of his dad and show weakness
I 100% think Hawks molts every now and then, and it makes Dabi sneeze like a motherfugger
When they were kids, Izuku worried that Bakugo's explosions would make him lose his hearing, and while it hasn't yet, he still worries about it and keeps up with the basic stuff, just in case
Bakugo realizes it one day when he catches Izuku practicing, and seeing his childhood friend sitting there trying to perfect this thing for him, just in case, with his weary and crooked hands, something just... hits him
He asks Izuku to teach him too, and once, when he's working as a pro years later, he once uses it to help a deaf child in a hostage situation, and he calls Izuku the second he has the chance to tell him all about it
Izuku cries and Bakugo pretends he doesn't hear it lmao
I think Eri loves Momo and Jirou, she thinks they’re sooo cool!
They become a safe place for her as she grows up, some older girls to ask about all sort of different stuff Aizawa and Mic might not be able to understand or relate to
oh, and Deku and Eri stays tight forever, to the point where she starts to refer to him as her brother
He gives her away at her wedding BYE I'M GONNA CRY -
If we're in the upheaval verse or any other scenario where Dabi and Shoto reconnect, I think they would realize they're more similar than they ever knew
Esp Dabi, who had Shoto built up as this perfect, glossy Endeavour 2.0 in his head for so long, only for him to realize Shoto is just the most socially awkward kid who also hates Endeavour
Shoto thinks any time they spend together is great quality time, and Dabi is just so taken aback by it lmao
Dabi loses his mind a little at Shoto's fashion sense tho, Dabi loves to be extra, as we already know, and Shoto's little cardigans and polo's and mom-fashion makes him wanna shake some edge into him
Okay, but imagine the same with Hawks and Tokoyami, but kinda the other way around
Hawks isn't exactly a fashion icon, but after he's released escapes from the commission (leave me alone it happens in my version of things), he starts to realize he enjoys expressing himself with clothes
He asks Tokoyami for ideas and stuff since he likes how edgy and personal Tokoyami looks
Tokoyami literally just wears black tho, so he's not much help, but he's willing to try
Hawks ends up wearing shit that looks like the pastel grunge/goth tag from Tumblr in 2012 lmao
But he's happy so who cares, right?
(Dabi cares, but he tries really heard not to say anything)
I also just think Hawks wanna be friendly with Tokoyami so badly, like, bond outside of work? Talk about school and friends and stuff?
And Tokoyami doesn't understand that's what he's doing because Hawks is so bad at candid social stuff because that's not really something you can train for, yanno?
So he thinks Hawks just wants information, like when they first met, and Hawks is like... so lost lmao
I know they're not friends in canon, but I looove Mirko and Hawks as besties
I just think she'd be great at taking care of Hawks and teaching him social skills and stuff without being condescending
Dabi would do it, but he's just as bad as Hawks and doesn't wanna learn anyway lmao
Okay and finally, Shoto totally used to have a crush on Hawks
Just a distant school boy crush, and it ended years ago, but he still thinks it's a little weird when Hawks and Dabi starts dating at first lol
Shoto would totally tell him in front of both Dabi and Izuku (Shoto's boyfriend) lmao
"You know Hawks, it is a little funny that we are here now, as you were my first crush, and sort of made me realize I was gay, and now here we are and you are dating my brother who we used to think was dead haha :-)"
And Hawks is just like... ʘ‿ʘ
Izuku is blushing so hard he almost passes out lmao
Dabi finds it all fucking hilarious of course
bnha requests are open <3

Hi! About that post of aizawa having toxic traits, can you explain please? Im an anime only but i absolutely don't mind spoilers. I couldnt find any explenation online either :((
Hello! This took way to long to post, so i'm really sorry for that Anon. But hopefully this explains why Aizawa is who he is and why I emphasized him having toxic traits.
I wanted to write it all out properly and hopefully make sense to my previous post. There is a lot going on here and because of the image limit i couldn't post more manga panels showing important moments, but this should explain some of the basic points.
I will be using the Vigilantes manga, My Hero Academia manga, and the My Hero Academia anime as evidence/support since these are the ones that canon.
Aizawas Toxic Traits
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW
Lets start off by determining a few things:
Just because you have trauma, doesn't make you immune to the consequences of your own actions.
Just because you have a mental illness doesn't mean you can't be a shit human being to others.
Just because you're a victim doesn't mean you can't be an abuser.
You can't project onto others. It's not a healthy way of coping and you're harming other people.
You're expectations can be to high.
Anyone, no matter what, can be a bad person.
Now that we have those things out of the way, lots move onto the supporting evidence.
In Vigilantes, Aizawa suffered from the tragic loss of his best friend Shirakumo Oboro. This caused him to become very focused on his training while neglecting himself and the relationships he had around him. But let's first address why Aizawa is so attached and affected by Shirakumo's death.
Tumblr media
Aizawa in his younger years lacked the confidence he thought he should have when it came to his quirk. His quirk wasn't a physical one so he felt like he wasn't deserving of even pursuing the hero career. He couldn't commit to helping someone without overthinking or seeing himself as lesser then. He hesitated instead of acting. He still cared about how he was being perceived.
Tumblr media
This is where Shirakumo would come in. He was everything that Aizawa wasn't. He was loud and likable, people had high hopes for him, and worst of all his quirk was physical. He had people in his life that he would cherish and wouldn't hesitate helping anyone out.
This is why the incident with the cat, which is the first time we see young Aizawa and his then mindset, is important.
Aizawa hesitated to help the kitten while Shirakumo just picked it up and took it to school with him. Another difference was on the actions they took with the kitten. Aizawa gave his umbrella to the kitten so it wouldn't get wet. This resulted in him getting drenched and showing up to class looking upset with himself. Shirakumo showed up wet as well, but he also had Aizawa's umbrella in tow. He saw Aizawa hesitate and give the kitten his umbrella yet he didn't confront him nor did he mention it. He knows Aizawa even when Aizawa didn't pay him any attention. Shirakumo gave Aizawa his umbrella back and presented the class with the kitten which lead to everyone praising him while Aizawa silently watched him do something he couldn't do. Aizawa did, and very literally, do the bear minimum. Shirakumo did more then that by not only providing comfort, but also safety and other basic necessities.
Shirakumo would also stop Yamada from teasing Aizawa when he was being self deprecating. He prevented others from teasing him and overall, he acted as some sort of guardian for Aizawa even when the teasing came from his own "friends". He provided Aizawa with safety when there was no real need for it. Aizawa wasn't looking for comfort nor a closer relationship, yet he went back for more because Shirakumo gave more.
Tumblr media
I think this is where we see why Shirakumo was more likable in Aizawa's mind and memory. All of these scenes are from Vigilantes and are from Aizawa's perspective. Meaning that all of these scenes were Shirakumo is basked in light and looking so...i guess for a lack of a better word, beautiful, is Aizawa seeing him as more then just his classmate and friend. He doesn't do this with Yamada or Kayama, only with Shirakumo. I'm not saying that Aizawa had a crush on him (i'm keeping this as far way from ships to just look at the points but it has been hinted at that Aizawa may have had stronger feelings for Shirakumo.) Aizawa loved Shirakumo, thats why he was so attached.
Love isn't something that can come only from wanting to spend the rest of forever with someone. It's not something you have to feel romantically, it could also be platonic (AnD tHeY WeRe RoOmAtEs.) In this case i take it more as Aizawa had Shirakumo be his anchor, to act as a stopper for all of his negative thoughts. He became close to him and opened up to him more than he ever could with Yamada because he was not only charming but forward with him. Let's keep in mind that Aizawa, Yamada, and Shirakumo have been "friends" since the start of their first year.
Aizawa held no real liking to Yamada or Kayama, even though he did spend time with them (he's a tsundere so he acts like he has no real friends.) The only times we ever see him truly smile or seem happy is when its with Shirakumo. (I can sense the ship war incoming.)
Tumblr media
He consistently compared himself to others, rejected the notion of being friends with people who showed him genuine affection. Everything after a certain point began to revolve around Shirakumo and Aizawa's dependency on him to make things better in his life, to help him find himself. Many would think that being close to someone isn't bad, which it isn't, but to the extent Aizawa found himself being close to Shirakumo and the neglect he showed to the others didn't help improve his independency either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Take note that in almost every shot of Aizawa, Shirakumo and Yamada hanging out with each other, Shirakumo is always in the middle. Again, Yamada teases Aizawa a lot and Aizawa clearly takes no joy from it.) Even here, Shirakumo is always depicted as being by his side. Yamada eventually replaces him but prior to that Aizawa kept Yamada at a distance. Again, i don't think Aizawa hated Yamada or Kayama, but what i'm trying to explain is that he didn't want the same closeness he had with Shirakumo with them. He was already close to Shirakumo and to him, that was enough.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's also look at this scene. Aizawa and Shirakumo are having a casual conversation about how Aizawa feels like a failure and doesn't understand why he has to be something he's not. Shirakumo doesn't invalidate him, he instead agrees with him and asked him to try it out at least. Key word is "try".
The thing that we can also point out in this scene is that Kayama perfectly knows how Aizawa is feeling and knows that pictures of Sushi (the cat that Aizawa and Shirakumo saved) would make him happy. She could have taken him to see Sushi or even followed/waited for the both of them to speak after the failed mission. Instead, Kayama gave Shirakumo the oppurtunity to help ease Aizawa's emotions down. Kayama is fully aware that Aizawa wouldn't listen to her, wouldn't bother to take what she had to say about the mission into considerations so she left that job to Shirakumo.
So How Would This Translate to Any Toxic Traits?
If you go and read Vigilantes and also the MHA/BNHA manga and anime with this new context of Aizawa's character, you'll be able to pick out why he's so harsh on his students off the bat.
Aizawa once was dependent on someone to keep him on track. When he lost that person he isolated himself from his own friends. Neglected his own wellbeing and proceeded to treat his students the same way. He didn't see children figuring out what they want to do with their lives, he saw adults and treated them like adults. Just like he was treated after Shirakumo's death. The damning thing here is in the relationship he holds with everyone from his past. Not only does he not address his "friends" by their first name while they address him by his, he also has this distance to him and Yamada.
Aizawa does care about Yamada and Kayama, i'm not undermining that. What i do want to point out is that he treats them like work colleagues. You'd think after knowing someone for over a decade, spending extensive amounts of time with them, seeing them grow with you, improve themselves, move forward after suffering a tragic loss of a loved one, you would speak to them like the were family or just someone close to you. You would call them by their name. Not in this case.
Aizawa is not only a great manipulator, which we can see in the way he consistently deceives them into thinking a certain way/thing, he's also great at lying to himself. Toxic traits are seen as things that are harmful and damaging to the individual or individuals around someone. In Aizawa's case we have self deprecation, a constant impulse to place themselves in danger (yes he's a hero, but he sometimes doesn't stop to think that others can take care of themselves), and we also see him project a lot onto other people. Such as his students and most importantly Shinsou.
Tumblr media
(Don't get me started on the fact that Yamada is forcing himself to process his friends death via humor while Kayama is crying and trying to stop.) His students are the greatest examples of Aizawa being reminded of Shirakumo, specifically Midoriya. Aizawa is always on his ass about him being self sacrificing, ironic since Aizawa himself is also self sacrificing but in a different more degrading way. Aizawa would tell Midoriya to "tone it down" and "think before he acts". Shirakumo was also all action with the main priority being to help others instead of himself. He was able to befriend nearly everyone with no problem. His students are eager to learn and as we soon learn (couldn't add the manga panel) Aizawa purposefully suspends or outright kicks out his own students from UA. He calls it "A Death". Just like he himself had to suffer threw when Shirakumo died. But there's a difference, he didn't get the emotional, mental, and physical preparation to cope with his best friends death. He felt like it was ridiculous not to teach the concept of being "heroic vs suicidal". In his eyes, Shirakumo was "suicidal" because he gave up his own life for his instead. We also learn later on that Aizawa suffers from intense 'Survivors Guilt' and feels that getting the chance to live a long life in comparison to Shirakumo was unfair. In the War Arc he ends up screaming that he couldn't allow himself to die because of the sacrifices that those around him, Shirakumo and another pro hero, made for him. So he isn't living because he wants to, he's living because he feels like he has to.
Tumblr media
He consistently projecting onto others and attempts to justify his cold demeanor towards his own friends and students with the lenses of "preparing" them or "guiding" them. Yamada clearly knows why Aizawa is the way he is and so does Kayama, they all suffered Shirakumo's death. But while Kayama copes by taking care of Shirakumo's cat, Yamada is left to pick Aizawa up while being discarded by him. Aizawa clearly cares for others but he prefers the idea of holding "light bonds" so that when he dies or the other person dies it won't hurt as much.
(Erasermic shippers you can join the chat for this.) Yamada neglects his own emotional health to support Aizawa and in return he suffers for it. He can read him like a book and knows that the relationship that they both have with each other isn't healthy, but he stays. Part of it is because he cares and the other being that Aizawa is as dependent of him as he is of Aizawa. Yamada reminds Aizawa of Shirakumo because of there demeanor but he isn't fully him so Aizawa doesn't relax around him and still keeps his walls up to create that disconnection. We can also see how Aizawa sees All Might as Shirakumo. Remember that Aizawa not only "hates" people who are loud and obnoxious but also holds a great disinterest on quirks that are physical and the attention they catch. This isn't a Shinsou case were the guy hates physical quirks because it prevented him from being who he want to be, this is about how Shirakumo who held a physical quirk would always use it to make a grim situation bright just like All Might who would juggling pillows and throwing people around like nothing to entertain (Look at Vigilantes to understand this). Both All Might, Yamada, and Shirakumo share these traits and since Aizawa didn't want to take the time and wasn't given the time to grief properly, he essentially closed himself off and never fully processed everything.
Am i saying that EraserMic is a toxic ship?
No....not necessarily. I'm not saying any of this to shame anyone for there ships, i personally don't have a preference and just support them all (as long as it's adult/adult and minor/minor.) Aizawa and Yamada in MHA aren't the perfect example of a couple and we only truly see them be on the same page during the War Arc since they both discovered a bunch of truths regarding Shirakumo and his fate.
Yamada personally holds a lot of guilt because he contributed to Shirakumo's death (again look at Vigilantes for the entire context as well as the main manga.) The most damning thing is when he finds out where Shirakumo is now. Kurogiri is made from Shirakumo's body as well as the dna of other people, essentially making him a Nomu. Aizawa and Yamada find out during their interrogation with Kurogiri after Grand Torino tells them. Yamada during the big battle has a scene with one of the villains (trying not to spoil more then necessary) and is told that the whole reason for the villain attack that ended in Shirakumo's death was actually intended to kill Aizawa and take his quirk to than use his body for Kurogiri's.
The reason why this relationship is toxic could be based on the fact that it's co-dependent. Yamada relies on Aizawa and is practically attached to him because he has abandonment issues, while Aizawa only stays around him because he reminds him of his best friend who had the same personality type. Yamada is Aizawa's enabler because he doesn't know what else to do. He doesn't want Aizawa to leave him because the guilt of his "wrong doings" would eat at him. With Shirakumo, he would have had Aizawa focus on the right track again while still being nice to him and Aizawa would have taken that advice and followed threw with it. Yamada is offering a lack lustered replacement while Aizawa only gives back the bear minimum because he's emotionally incapable of giving more.

Hi.
It's me again. Thank you for the hero!Touya x reader fic. It was lovely. I have another request if you don't mind. Strap in cause this might take a while.
So, I read a post the other day explaining how Aizawa expelled over 1000(?) students. Someone did the math and concluded that for that for that to happen, he would have to have started teaching at 21 years old. That happens to coincide with the time Hawks started at UA. So assuming Hawks, Dabi and Shigaraki are the same age, here is my request.
Hawks and hero! Touya and Tenko in Aizawa's class, being the most chaotic (and traumatized) trio at UA and and annoying the hell out of him, because they remind him to much of himself, Present Mic and Oboro. (Touya still dyes his hair black cause he's angsty like that). Aizawa ends up becoming their older brother/father figure after he finds out about their traumatic lives. (Found family)
Bonus points if Hawks isn't an Endeavor fanboy anymore after he learns about what happens to Touya.
Really sorry for the long request. Hope you don't mind. You don't have to write it if it too much to handle.
Have a lovely day 💚
P.S. Please don't feel pressured to write this.
Omggg this is definitely an interesting concept. The thing is that Shigaraki is 20, Dabi is 24 and Hawks is 22, which means that we are gonna have to find a middle ground. Let's pretend that they are all Hawks' age. Also, Hawks wasn't a UA student since he was directly trained by the hero comission. We'll pretend that the comission did send him to the UA as well.

UA Student!Tenko, Touya and Keigo AU
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel like it's important to state that these 3 did not became friends instantly.
Let's start by getting into the details on how they ended up in the UA first, shall we?
Tenko Shimura. Needless to say that he was a recommended student because of his very well known grandma.
His father does not talk to him at all and he lives with his sister in a modest apartment that is secretly being rented by their mother who also happens to visit them often without her husband's knowledge.
Since he didn't have to do the admission exam, no one knew him until the very first day of school.
His sister gave up her dream of being a hero ages ago, but she still doesn't want to live in her father's house for obvious reasons.
Tenko is the strongest student in his class.
Touya Todoroki. Another guy who was admitted because he had a recommendation letter, obviously.
Number two hero's son.
He would be incredibly strong if it wasn't for the fact that he can't fight for long because he literally roasts himself. His hero suit is supposed to help with that.
Let's be real. Touya here does not care about keeping the country safe. He just wants to be better than Endeavor to humilliate him.
I'm I the only one who believes that he has an ice quirk? Like, in canon? But Hirokoshi is keepig it a secret from us?
Anyways, he's super mean and no one likes him very much. He has a god complex and never misses a chance to say that he belongs in a different upper world than the rest of his classmates.
Second strongest in his class.
Keigo Takami. The son of a criminal; not great for someone who wants to become a hero. This means that no matter how hard the hero comission tried to get him in the UA with a recommendation letter, he still had to do the exam. Which he passed with flying colors, by the way.
His charisma makes him very popular at school. As well as his looks.
Third strongest student in his class.
So what do we have here so far?
A rich kid who was disinherited by his father because his desire to help others was strong enough to break his relationship with him and who also happens to avoid people because of his unstable quirk, another rich kid who has little to no heroic spirit because it's being clouded by his hatred towards his abusive dad, and a guy who didn't get half of the priviledges that the previous two had (which is bad considering their lives suck too) and who has no one to rely on.
Let's sum it up:
A loner who doesn't like people, a selfish kid who thinks that no one is at his level, and a loner who would actually like to stop being a loner.
They don't have anything in common besides the fact that they all resent their parents.
The first weeks of school were a disaster.
Tenko isolated himself from anyone at first, so when the moment where he had to make a quirk demostration came around, Touya already hated him.
How was he supposed to beat endeavor when this guy was out there literally pulverizing everything? Wasn't he supposed to do that?
Pretty much Deku and Bakugo.
At first.
Shouta can't help but notice that these three have a bright future ahead of them. Their quirks are very powerful and they may lack many things, but ambition isn't one of them. They definitely picked his interest from the very first day.
However, they still have to work on many things.
So he figures that pushing them together would be a good idea.
He started forcing them to team up for different activities, as well as teaming them up with other students, so that they had to fight against each other.
But this wasn't going very well.
There was one particular practice where Touya ended up attacking Tenko in a not so pacific way, which led to Tenko decaying his suit and Keigo's wings reducing to none after he tried to use them to separate both of them and ended up either pulverized or burned.
So Shouta decided that he had had enough. These brats weren't gonna improve if they kept jumping at each others' throats like this.
He forced them to go to school on weekends to train.
The first few weeks were a massacre.
But then they started tolerating each other.
Tenko had decided that he had lost too much hair to Touya's flames, while the latter was tired of buying new clothes everyday. Keigo was just being Keigo.
Speaking of him, this dude really admires both of his classmates. Does he think they are nuts? Yes. Does he think they are cool despite that? YES.
He lowkey likes them. They seem to be nice people... Sometimes. He likes their sense of conviction.
I feel like he subconsciously wants to have friends, which would eventually lead to him pulling the three of them together. Pretty much like Oboro did.
Their extra sessions with Aizawa forced them to get to know each other.
And Aizawa got to know them.
By the time they started their second year, they were still caothic.
But they were caothic together.
Touya still pretends he doesn't know them when someone asks but it's okay.
He acts as if he hated Tenko but he literally burned Kotaro's car to ashes.
He says he did it because he can't stand people who see their children as objects that they can dispose of, though. Liar.
Not gonna lie, Hawks cried when he learnt what type of father Endeavor was. No, he did not cry because he felt bad for Touya; he cried because of his childhood hero being a jerk.
Shouta must admit that those kids have had a place in his heart for a while now.
He realized it when he heard Keigo suggesting that they should open a hero agency together; he didn't understand why he was so attached to those kids. He thought it was because they were talented, but he could see it now. They reminded him of himself during his time as a student, of his own friends.
They were the weirdest combination ever but it somehow worked out.
The three of them adore their teacher. Specially Tenko.
Aizawa is just too cool, y'know? He wants to be like him.
He has a special place in his heart for Tenko as well; his selfless desire to help others reminds him of Oboro's.
He knows the family situation of each student and he really feels for some of them.
He cried when they graduated, and they cried too.
Touya will never admit it, though. "I crY wHeN I gEt eXcItEd, iT's aN iNVoLunTarY reSpOnse."
As the years go on and they become pro heroes, they still go to their high school teacher to ask him for advice.
Any of them would rather having Shouta at their wedding than having their own dads.
They are very grateful for him, and how he helped them grow as individuals and not just as heroes.
And Shouta will be forever grateful for having the honour of watching them grow up and be what he once dreamed of being.

I saw this take on twitter about Hana & Kacchan having “reverse parallels” and since they both have apologised to Tenko/Deku (but one was more or less sincere and the other was absolutely sincere) and they said that, while Hana moved away from Tenko, Kacchan ran to catch Deku. There was also more to the thread abt Kacchan & Hana’s differences. They were sorta trying to argue that this is a clue that Hori intends for Bkdk to be sibling-like/brotherly. As a bkdk shipped, I’ve accepted that it makes sense.. cause it’s an established fact that Tenko & Deku parallel each other. Tenko having his own “Kacchan” makes sense. Tho yes I am a little sad since I’ve held a little bit of hope for romantic bkdk becoming canon. I just wanted to ask your opinion if Hana was really meant to foil Kacchan or was it just a reach?
okay so I have a couple responses to this.
1. while it's true that Horikoshi has woven a lot of deliberate parallels between Deku and Tenko's characters, that doesn't mean every single thing about their lives and every single person they interact with is a part of those parallels. which is to say that no, I don't really think Hana and Kacchan are meant to mirror each other in any kind of significant way. Hana's apology to Tenko was under completely different circumstances than Kacchan's apology to Deku; I really don't see any connection between the two situations. you might as well be trying to compare Hana to Endeavor, or Deku, or Hawks, or Aizawa, or any other character who's apologized to anyone over the course of the story.
2. please pardon the forthcoming rant, anon -- and I hope you know that none of this is aimed at you in particular -- but for me personally, this whole obsession with ships becoming canon is one of the most exasperating types of discourse there is. like, don't get me wrong, I totally understand people wanting to see their favorite ships validated by the author, and not to mention there's also the issue of having more LGBTQ+ representation. but speaking as someone whose own orientation (aromantic) has almost no representation in fiction whatsoever, it gets frustrating to see so many people dismiss non-romantic relationships as being an inferior type of ship, to the extent that calling a relationship "sibling-like" is now a commonly-used attack in ship wars. so many people view romance as this completely transformative element, to the point where two characters can literally tick every other box on the intimate personal relationship checklist, and none of it will matter to some people unless they actually confess their love and kiss.
and again, I'm not saying I don't understand it, especially since queerbating is a thing. it's one thing if a writer is genuinely just trying to portray a close friendship, especially in series where romance isn't really a focus. but it's another thing entirely if a writer is deliberately hinting at a romance in a blatant bid to attract a larger queer audience, while all the while having no intention whatsoever of having those hints lead anywhere. the issue, I guess, is that it's not always easy to tell which scenarios are the former, and which are the latter. and of course, you also have people who think that the former is a type of cop-out as well, because the thing is that romance is always viewed as the default. so for a lot of people, allosexual and alloromantic relationships are the only ones that get considered as far as representation goes.
but you know what, I'm just gonna say it; even knowing where people are coming from, it's still discouraging to know that so many people are so dismissive of aro and ace relationships that the thought of a favorite ship not becoming romantic in canon is considered a profound disappointment. and it's even more discouraging that the thought of a rival ship becoming canon is considered such an existential threat to some that they will literally use "oh, they're just like siblings" as an argument against the ship, rather than a point in favor of. because siblings are a downgrade. friendship is a downgrade. any kind of close relationship that isn't inherently romantic or sexual in nature is less important, and that's just how it is.
so yeah, that's kind of a pet peeve, ngl. especially since the truth is I actually do think Bakugou and Deku's relationship is very akin to siblings. and so I do sometimes get weary of not being able to just outright say that without having to first pepper the statement with all kinds of disclaimers so that people don't think I'm invalidating the ship. I feel like I have to walk on eggshells if I ever want to talk about their relationship in terms that I can personally relate to.
but I mean, here's how I look at it. they've known each other since they were small children. they call each other exclusively (or almost exclusively) by childhood nicknames. they have an openness and an unspoken, almost taken-for-granted trust in each other to the point where they'll share closely guarded secrets ("I got my quirk from someone else") and personal vulnerabilities ("why was I the one who ended All Might?") with barely a second's hesitation which they would never share with anyone else. they have a comfortable little bickering type of rapport ("I'm getting stronger"; "well I'll just have to get even stronger then"; "you'll never surpass me"; "we'll see about that") which they can fall into with ease and which looks weird af to outsiders, but is "normal" to them and something they're both grateful to have.
they're so intimately familiar with each other's personality and behaviors that they can predict them with perfect accuracy. they're so in tune with each other that they can whip up elaborate coordinated attacks right on the spot in perfect sync. their admiration for each other is so strong that they each think of the other as being the epitome of winning and saving, respectively. their mental images of each other are so vivid that they subconsciously mimic each other's speech patterns whenever they start falling into a particularly strong Win or Save mindset themselves. they take no small amount of pride in showing off for each other. they go apeshit any time the other is in danger or hurt. and each of them would literally die for the other if it ever came to that.
all of that is already canon. on just about every metric imaginable except for "now kiss", the two of them already have a canon intimacy that rivals just about every other great relationship out there. and so to say that none of it actually counts unless there's an actual love confession involved frankly just boggles me. again, maybe it's because I have no personal vested interest in romance myself, though. I'm literally just not wired that way, and so I'm really not the best person to vent to when it comes to these kinds of concerns.
but look, no matter what happens from here on out, these two care about each other on a very deep and personal level. they're going to continue to be a part of each other's lives no matter what. and each of them, no matter what, will continue to occupy a space in each other's lives that no other person can fill, regardless of how we or Horikoshi or anyone else choose to label and define that space. and so in my book, that's already a win.
anyways, apologies again for the impromptu rant. again, this wasn't particularly directed at you in any way; if anything it's mostly just a generic response to the constant shipping discourse in this and every other fandom, and a more detailed explanation for why I personally don't like to get involved in it. this is just one of the myriad reasons why I try my best to stay very far away from BnHA twitter lol.

Hey, just wanted to know if you could rank MHz ships from least to worse?
MHZ? Do you mean MHA? LOL there are so many that could go on for infinity. I guess there are some ‘main’ ships, so I guess I’ll try and rank them.
24. Izuocha
I guess not so much the fandom as the confusing mess that has become their relationship in canon makes it my least favorite. I think it’s too late in the story to salvage this one for me or make me happy that they’re apparently supposed to end up together; it jus keeps getting less interesting as time goes on.
23. KiriBaku
I also just don’t get this one. Like, yeah, it’s nice that Kacchan has a friend, but the second biggest ship in the fandom? I probably wouldn’t have anything against it if it was just middle of the road popular, but the overexposure makes me dislike it.
22. KiriKami
Kinda in a similar vein, though this one I’m just neutral too. Nice friends, kinda sweet, nothing else.
21. Todo/Ii/Deku
Same as above.
20. Kirideku
I like this one better since Kiri has an actual emotional lbackstory piece with Midoriya that connects them and they share interesting things in common.
19. MomoKendo
I really enjoy MomoKendo, and all the ships from here on out; it just has less screentime and therefore less of my attention.
18. Erasermic
This is another one that feels to me like it’s really really popular, but as a ship for my books just kind of ok. Like, they’re childhood friends and all, but what else?
17. Melissa/Mei
A rarepair that I think is important and should get more attention.
16. Eraserjoke
Similar to Erasermic, though at least this one has a bit more chemistry (in my opinion)
15. Shinsou/Kaminari
I do like this one; it just has very limited screentime, so it lands in the middle.
14. DabiHawks
LOL I guess I like this one because it seems like the only viable ship for either character. I guess there’s also Touya/Tomura but they don’t really hang out that much.
13. Iida/Mei
These two do have some really fun chemistry, even if they don’t get that much screentime.
12. EraserCloud
This has sort of beck my favorite Aizawa ship. I’m a sucker for that Winter Soldier/Obito dynamic.
11. Kacchako
Yeah even though they don’t have much screentime I still like this one more than Izuocha. If the Wonder duo have to end up in straight pairings I’d be all for the Kacchako/Midotsuyu pairing. Or the OT3 option.
10. Togachako
Uraraka has like half the pairings on this list lol. Anyway these two have really grown on me since last year’s arc finally let Ochako reciprocate Toga’s affection a bit.
9. Tododeku
These two are undeniably sweet together. They’re the least interesting corner of the OT3 trinity to me, but I get why they’re popular.
8. Tsuyu/Ochako
Definitely one of Ochako’s most stable relationships and the most prominent Tsuyu pairing.
7. KamiJirou
Love their chemistry.
6. MomoJirou
Grown on me over KamiJirou due to their friendship, but this is another one where the OT3 option is nice.
5. Iida/Ochako
The most balanced Ochako ship and Iida ship. Largest part in each other’s lives and most supportive dynamic.
4. TodoMomo
Also Todoroki and Momo’s most balanced pairing, though only my second favorite Shoto ship.
3. KiriMina
Easy winner for Kirishima and Ashido.
2. TodoBaku
LOL they have so much chemistry. It’s not even funny. And now they’ve got friendship and substance to their bond too. I love them.
1. BakuDeku
Huge shocker, I know. OTP from the start, still now.
hope that answers it. LOL what if the ask meant a different show.

I know you like all might and consider him the only good pro hero alongside aizawa but i assure you he is no different from them, the reason why i think this because first he was mentored by gran torino for a long time that guy has a toxic mentality and black and white view on the world and AM definitely adapted the same mentality, second reason is he never gave a fuck about saving shigaraki and only saw him as a crazy guy until learning he's his master's grandson and all might most likely dropped the thought of saving tomura when his master told him so thats probably why we don't see him thinking about it ever again after his conversation with torino because he doesn't see tomura anything but a villain now.
I might be wrong AM could show sympathy for shigaraki when deku try to save him but i honestly doubt it because of the way he treats the villains compared to deku he's pretty much apathetic toward them and i don't remember him showing sympathy and understanding for the villains like deku did (and the current ch were he called dabi insane is a prove of that), and no i'm not including stain here because if AM had ofa he would definitely have beaten his ass. But anyway if AM was shown to be cruel with shigaraki's situation like the other pro heroes i will not be surprised at all.
So I just got done reading @mettywiththenotes's take on the situation here and I feel like that's the best explanation for what we have going on.
Like I do think All Might has fallen into the system and lost some of what he truly believes in to the status quo.
But I do think he is genuinely better at heart than most of the pro-heroes. I really do. BUT--
My issue is the whole Endeavor thing. I mean, it just seems that everyone, literally everyone is turning a blind eye.
I think with All Might it's--again--that hero villain title obscuring what's really important in his eyes. His belief that ultimately the destruction and death needs to be stopped (which it DOES need to be) trumps the idea that....maybe holding Endeavor accountable may help??? But it's like, "is this the right time since we have so little fire power on our side". I don't think it's right, seeing as how it should have all....been addressed earlier, but it's what we have.
I like what Metty said about Vestige AM's soul crying at the notion of saving Shigaraki.
The thing is I genuinely believe All Might is still a step ahead of the other pros because we WERE shown some version of him wanting the same thing as Midoriya. I think, while it isn't the real All Might's thoughts in chapter 305 (which I was just----I feel so dumb not realizing that vestige AM and real AM are different) it was his core, his true beliefs shining through in that vestige room, in that moment.
Then when you get outside, it's back to adhering to the system in order to maintain order.
I am irritated though still just because Endeavor's actions are being so so soooo glossed over right now. By like....everybody in canon and the narrative itself.
I KNOW that it won't remain that way, because if Touya is going to show up in the same panel as his father and little brother again (which he will) then Endeavor's actions can't be ignored, and they have to be addressed.
But, All Might--pls....learn lol. I think we'll see him grow and see him be inspired by his mentee. The one who genuinely wants to save everyone and not just those asking for it.
