Being a batfam fan is funny because people will make a post like “here’s my headcanon-“ and it’s just something that’s directly canon to the story then post about major canon events and get everything wrong.
#this post was inspired by me remembering the experience of reading death in the family#after only knowing the fanbase version and realizing oh none of that shit happened okay#like girl you don’t understand it’s so bad#Jason wasn’t even fired as Robin#He’s not accused of murdering anyone by Bruce#He’s not trying to prove himself at all he’s just looking for his mom#The reason Bruce didn’t go after him right away is because he was tracking down a goddamn nuke the Joker stole#Then after he finds it and handles the problem he helps Jason track down moms 2 and 3#Also Jason died in like 20 minutes?? even less??#He died in less time than it took his mother to smoke a cigarette#Bruce literally went ‘wait here I’ll be right back’ and was gone for less time than a trip to the grocery store#and then you go into the Jason Todd tag and they act like Bruce pulled the damn trigger on him#Like besties I don’t know how to tell you this he basically did everything right he possibly could have#Even him benching Jason from Robin temporarily happens so that he can get Jason into therapy about his trauma#Like the whole point is that neither of them did anything wrong bad shit just sometimes happens#That’s the tragedy. The drama.#Bruce couldn’t have made better choices in the position he was in and Jason was never going to make different ones#It was inevitable#Anyway rant over please read death in the family before I lose my mind#batfam#batman#jason todd#tim drake#dick grayson#damian wayne#bruce wayne

People being all "Ed is just an emo babygirl after a breakup, like, who wouldn't act like that???" and yeah I LOVE emo babygirl Ed, but I do not think cutting off someone's toe and feeding it to them is really a sad babygirl action (although you go girlies, he did deserve that)
Jokes aside, though: We are NOT being told anything in specific, and his actions can be interpreted in various ways. Did he go fucking feral, all kraken and shit? Sure, but he also cried when looking at the lighthouse painting later, which tells us he did not really, like, vow to not give in to his emotions again or something.
On the other hand, we ARE explicitly told in canon that Ed is *not* mentally well, and I do not mean it in a bad way. Maybe we, as a fandom, should stop acting like Ed's PTSD and his trauma responses are something bad that we can't work with? Ed has every right to be sad. Ed has every right to be angry. He has every right to be fucking traumatised. And by making him feel those feelings the fanfic writers or fan artists are not necessarily being racist, homophobic or mental-illness-hating. Ed is just human and he has human feelings. People react in all kinds of ways to heartbreak and trauma.
I know we all love babygirl Ed, but keep in mind that woobifying his reaction to Stede leaving him, we are kind of writing off the whole mental health aspect of the character, which, I think, is super important in the show? Going as far as removing this aspect of Ed (and I have seen people who really believe Ed has absolutely zero issues) is kind of building the stupid "we shouldn't talk about mental illness" ableist taboo agenda.
(to read more about masculinity and rage in the context of POC experience, I recommend to dig into what @uselessheretic posts who is definitely better at writing in English than I am and likely more educated on the subject)
There is nothing wrong in wanting a character to be flawed. Flaws make us human
Another point: He is a PIRATE. Most people are not making him violent and angry because he's gay, nor because he's a POC. Most do it because he is a pirate, and if anything, the legendary pirates were generally known to be unhinged. Pirates stabbed people, keelhauled them, burnt whole villages down, traded slaves and r*ped. I know we all love OFMD and our blorbos, but let's not forget who the inspiration behind those characters were. No one does anything wrong by just by saying a pirate character HAS issues with his mental health, anger management or attitude. Some people just give Ed (or Izzy, or Stede, or any character honestly) more of the real-world pirate characteristics.
Yes, it is a comedy show, but in fan works it can become anything - a drama, a horror, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi slasher, whatever the author wants. So I think that people who do not interpret Ed's reaction to the breakup as basically a cutesy american teenager eating ice cream in bed listening to Evanescence are not necessarily wrong and neither do they have bad intentions.

Uploading this post to ao3 (about "Baz is the first thing Simon gives up on" not being true – neither is "Simon fought for Agatha") and I think this is worth highlighting on its own:
Simon can give you "his true feelings" bit by bit. He goes from "I wasn't going to break up with ~Agatha~" (already telling you he sorts of "idolizes" her as aspirational and blames himself for everything that went or felt wrong) to "I waited until Agatha gave up on me."
"I waited until Agatha gave up on me."
There’s a difference between fighting for someone and simply not letting go – waiting for them to let go... which implies a part of you wants out, you just don't want to be the one who does it. Just like how Simon's misguided "the HEA is where my life begins" tells you he's not and has not been happy dating Agatha at all (he tells himself "he will be" in some far away future, to be able to "carry on" like that), this line tells you Simon wanted to break up with Agatha. He might not have thought of it in this way – he might have avoided thinking about it at all, especially because a big part of him wants the idea of home and security he thinks is associated with her, which is something he never had.... but part of him felt like he wanted out. He just didn't want to be the one to do it... so he waited until she did.
If you wait until someone "gives up on you," you're assuming it will happen. You're waiting for them to walk away at some point (you're waiting for them to leave you! even if Simon's abandonment issues kick in when he thinks "she can't leave me," which also forces him to confront things he isn't ready for, part of him was waiting for this to happen! Which, alongside not actually wanting to be with her, also explains how he's over this so damn quickly you almost feel bad for her – that girl waited until she had a whole dramatic stage with props included to break up with him and he's over it in less than 5 minutes).
Just like how Simon thinks he'll marry Agatha, but deep down never believes it because he thinks he will die before it comes to that.... No matter how you look at it, Simon wasn't actually counting on this relationship to last. Agatha's assigned role might have been "to be the hero's future," but deep down, Simon never truly felt like she was his future (you know this because he didn't think he would have a future at all – not until he realizes he can have Baz – but this also points out that Agatha specifically was never something he truly felt was his future, and that he just wasn't ready to admit that to himself, when he was in the shackles of heteronormativity and holding on to the idea of home and security and the family he never had on survival mode – when he says he would have done anything to hold on to that... which is also not "fighting for Agatha," even if it seems like "I'll say whatever she wants me to say" is saying that – notably, he doesn't actually do shit after he says that – it's just Simon not letting go of the things he thought he needed to "survive" – to "carry on" – until the "inevitability" of his death caugh up to him, and then resisting change when the time to let go finally comes) (until Simon realizes a future without Baz is unbereable... that's truly the first time Simon actually wants a person to be his future, and you know this is true because he's actually thinking he gets to have a future for the first time in his life: he wants Baz to be his future)

Look, as we all know, Aziraphale and Crowley have differences in opinion when it comes to heaven and hell and that’s because whilst they’ve had similar experiences with them- they’ve also had really different experiences with them too.
Let’s start with Aziraphale because I feel like, heading into season 3, we’re going to see some change in his opinions on above. Compared to Crowley, Aziraphale’s experience with hell is fairly limited and mainly manipulated by Heaven and all. This opinion was supported when he went to hell at the end of season 1 and presumable by all the times they’ve kidnapped (and supposedly tortured) Crowley. Hell is simple to understand to him. They’re the ‘bad guys’ as he painfully reminds us in the final fifteen. That’s understandable- everything he’s ever had to do with hell, that he has considered to be connected with hell, has been bad. But Crowley’s different. He could still be an angel- right?
This is where we get on with Aziraphale and heaven because, deep down, he loves what he still thinks heaven stands for. It’s just been corrupted. Sure, it has been cruel to him on multiple occasions but that’s not heaven- that’s just the archangels. In his mind, Heaven as a whole has never done anything necessarily bad to him, there are only a few corrupt individuals. Plus, forgiveness comes easily to Aziraphale. He’s forgiven Crowley too many times, he silently forgives Jimbriel, and he arguably forgives the Metatron. Thus, for Aziraphale, forgiving Heaven, who from his pov has never directly wronged him, is super easy. That’s why he still thinks Heaven can be redeemed.
Alternatively, Crowley was outcast from Heaven- almost told he wasn’t wanted there because he asked questions/whatever else he did to fall. This is why I wish we knew more about Crowley’s fall because I feel like it would tell us so much more about his character development but alas. But he was cast out of the only group he had ever known because he did what he thought was right. We don’t know what else happened to him in Heaven so there could be plenty more times that he was mistreated etc. Crowley doesn’t forgive as easily as Azi put also we can assume that a large part of Heaven would have turned their backs on him after he fell with Aziraphale being one of the few to still treat him like an equal.
To Crowley, hell was an escape. It was a way to express himself and allowed him to have some sense of companionship after his fall. It was a way of not being alone. Yes, hell went to shit, it was always going to go to shit. Maybe Crowley knew that and he recognizes it. He doesn’t think hell is better than heaven. He thinks their equals because they have the same purpose. As he states in the final fifteen:
When Heaven ends life on earth it will be just as dead as if hell ended it.
Neither opinion is necessarily right or wrong but they’re both opinions informed by experience and thus arguably are just as valid as the other.
(NOTE: bc Im a little bit unhealthily obsessed with Angel Crowley and his identity Id also like to point out that if he was a high ranking Angel (like supreme archangel status yk) his experiences in Heaven would have been totally different to Aziraphale’s because he also would have been in a lot more contact with the higher-ups than, say, a principality. We know that Heavens corruption permeates the higher circles and that the lower ranking angels still stand mainly for what Heaven is supposed to stand for so this may have also impacted their experiences anyway sorry lol)

midnight bus. || hrj
Tumblr media
in which as much as renjun denies ever caring about you, he can't help but notice the twitch in your eye when you receive your test marks, the smile that doesn't seem to quite reach your eyes when praised by your principal, and the lack of smart remarks when he scores a single point higher. something was wrong, and it was driving him insane. alternatively, two kids ponder about their futures on a late night bus ride because neither of them can drive.
word count: 2.7k
genre, warnings: angst (?), slice of life, some fluff, comfort (?), academic rivals to lovers, high school!au, neighbor!au, teenage uncertainties uttered and lost between tall buildings and lights, profanities, trespassing
bgm: ghost city tokyo by ayase, overdose by natori, cinema by vivid bad squad, you're on your own kid by taylor swift
a/n: i just finished reading this book of mine and i am in absolute shambles.
Tumblr media
Renjun's eyes narrow, squinting at you across the hall. He could clearly see the principal congratulating you on the debate club's latest win, yet, you weren't puffing your chest out in pride like usual.
If this was any normal day in the past five years of your unnamed war for valedictorian, you would've thanked the principal and skipped right up to Renjun with a smug smirk on your face. If this was any normal day he would've rolled his eyes at you and told you that "arguing for climate change isn't a useful skill".
Evidently, this wasn't a normal day. Something's off. You bid goodbye to the principal and shuffle right past Renjun. No snide comment, no shit eating grin, nothing to acknowledge him.
Now, Renjun would much rather jump off a ten meter platform than admit to care for you, but weeks pass by and your usual spark never returned. It wasn't like he needed your attention or anything.
But it was driving him nuts.
Tumblr media
Grade 6. 11 years old. Renjun meets you for the first time. You showed up to the first day of class in bright yellow suspenders, it was hard not to notice you. Renjun thought the two of you would make great friends. After all, his surname did mean yellow.
He changed his mind after you scored higher than him in math. No one scored higher than him in math. He would've let it slide if it were just math, but you had scored higher in everything except art. To top it off, when he made the off comment about it you said,
"Oh, it's not like it was hard."
And from that day on, he decided that you were his biggest rival and his life goal would be to knock you off your high perch.
Somewhere along the line, you had caught onto Renjun's hostility towards you. It was so amusing watching him get ticked off at your smug comments, how could you stop making them? So you decided that your life goal would be to never let Renjun know peace.
This rivalry, of course, bled into high school and where the two of you stood in present time. Senior year, AP classes, volunteer work, college entrance preparation, the future.
Oh, the future.
Tumblr media
"Y/n, can we get a friend discount?"
"No."
A sigh escapes your mouth. Friday night, 8pm. Family-run diner packed to the brim with teenagers celebrating their football win against the school across town. Clad in the retro diner uniform your mom insisted on, you glide across the floor back behind the counter to yell whatever the table of jocks ordered to the kitchen.
"Busy night huh?"
You rest your head on your mom's shoulder, a habit you've had since childhood.
"Sometimes I wish our diner was less popular."
"Now that wouldn't be great for business," Your mom laughs in response to your childish grumble. "You'll learn to enjoy it once you take over."
The family business that's been passed down for decades. The future that's been decided for you before you were even conceived. You've known that your whole life, yet, for some reason, you weren't sure about it.
Your response should've been much more enthusiastic. But all you could manage was a quiet "I know" before turning to bring the cheerleaders their curly fries.
Tumblr media
Renjun thinks he's finally lost it. What other explanation could there be to him staring across the fence from his bedroom window to yours. Your light was on, so you were home. But from the shadows moving around he could tell you weren't at your desk preparing for class like usual.
Renjun thinks he's finally gone bonkers. What other explanation could there be to his inability to focus on his four page essay for AP literature. He was usually good at cranking out fancy words and analysis. But for some reason, he found his mind somewhere else.
Renjun thinks he's finally gone deranged. What other explanation could there be to him climbing out his window (his parents could never know), jumping the fence, and standing under yours. A few well aimed twig throws at your glass was enough for you to stick your head out in confusion.
"Renjun what the hell?"
"Come out. We're going for a ride."
So you begrudgingly close your window and look for a coat to wear over your pajamas.
And for the record, Renjun isn't a stalker. Just a neighbor.
Tumblr media
"You know, when you said "we're going for a ride", I kind of thought you meant in a car? As in, car ride?"
"And risk my life for you? No way. We're taking the bus."
11:45pm. You were following Renjun as he sped walked through the quiet residential neighborhood. The two of you passed multiple bus stops along the way but none of them had buses running at this hour.
"Just say you can't drive." You scoff, trying to keep up with the boy in front.
"Well, neither can you. With your brains, I thought you would've breezed the driving test."
"Touché."
Tumblr media
The bus arrived at 12am sharp. The bus stop was a fifteen minute walk away from your houses and the two of you barely got on, eyes squinted at the sudden neon lights of the bus interior. The bus driver, a woman in her late forties you presume, audibly clicks her tongue at the sight of you both. You don't blame her, you would probably do the same if you were still working at midnight.
You find a seat in the back half of the bus as to give the lady some peace (though she chooses to put on headphones anyway). Renjun sits in the seat on the other side, though the seats were made for two and there was definitely no one sitting next to you. An awkward silence fills the air as the bus heaves into motion, taking the two of you somewhere unknown.
It was kind of relaxing, you thought. Watching streetlamps pass by in a flash, hearing the faint tune of ABBA songs leaking through the driver's headphones, feeling the bus rumble underneath your body. It was almost like you were running away.
"So... What's up with you," Your neighbor awkwardly begins. "I noticed you weren't really yourself lately."
"Aw, does somebody care about me?"
Renjun never thought that hearing the familiar mocking tone that was the bane of his existence would be so comforting. You were still there. You hadn't changed.
"In your dreams." He hides his smile in his palm and keeps his eyes on the scenery passing by, "Unfortunate for me, living next door to you makes me notice things I don't care for."
His eyes slowly move to check on you when you don't say anything. You sat back in your seat, a long hum as a response.
"I don't know."
"The fuck you mean you don't know-"
"Do you ever feel unsure of the future?"
Renjun's sharp retort was cut short. He was caught off guard by your question. You refuse to look at him, making sure your head was turned to face the glass.
"My family expects me to do one thing but maybe... that's not what I want to do, y'know?"
Honestly, you don't know what's possessed you. Why were you spilling your feelings out to your sworn rival? What if he uses this as blackmail or something?
"I get it."
That's all he says. No mockery in his voice, no teasing to be seen. You look over to find Renjun looking at you with a soft gaze. As if you were something extremely precious to him. So you can't help but reveal more to the boy looking at you so gently.
"The world is so big and I'm not sure if being tied down to the family diner is something I want. Like, I know I'll be disappointing my parents but I don't think that's the future I want."
"Then don't."
"Wow! You're so smart! Why didn't I think of that?" You reply sarcastically. You shouldn't be grinning. But you couldn't help it.
"Thanks. I'm the future valedictorian." Renjun smirks, turning his eyes back outside.
"As if. That's my title."
You continue whining about your parents expectations and plans for you and the diner after college. It was a lot but Renjun didn't once complain. He just sat on the other side of the bus, listening.
Tumblr media
A weight had been lifted off your heart. Who knew you could be such a whiner? The conversation dims down as the warm colored streetlamps turn into fluorescent ones. You notice the buildings turn into grey skyscrapers and the bus was suddenly making its way into the bustling city.
You turn your head in awe at the sights. Truth be told, you don't make many trips into town, always too busy in your little suburb with whatever activity to add onto your college application. Which is why you almost miss Renjun's words.
"I want to go to art school."
It was a quiet murmur. Nearly drowned out by the bus engine and the honks of city cars.
"I thought your dream was med school?" You weren't poking fun, you genuinely thought Renjun was aiming to be a doctor. Your entire grade did. He scoffs.
"That's my parents' dream. They want the entire family to be in the medical field. It doesn't matter what we want." Renjun's eyes are facing the window, yet, they weren't focused on anything at all.
"Well, I think you'd do great in art school. You're always great at anything artsy." You admit, fidgeting with your coat. He raises his eyebrow and looks at you.
"You noticed?"
"It's hard to miss when you make the best pieces in the whole school. And I remember "Singin' in the Rain" in middle school. You're extremely talented at singing too."
Renjun can't help the smile that blooms on his face.
"You remember."
"Uh, yeah? You literally had a standing ovation."
Renjun never thought you would remember or pay attention to any of that about him. For some strange reason, his heart skipped a beat and he turns back to the window to hide his reddening cheeks.
Tumblr media
"Last stop. Get off."
The bus driver said, promptly leaving the second the two of you step off.
"Why is the last stop at a seven eleven?"
"That is kind of weird. Do you think she just kicked us off because she got tired of our bitching?"
You both giggle before stepping into the convenience store. The cashier spares an uninterested glance, then returns the attention back to his phone.
Weaving in and out of the aisles and nearly slipping on some unknown liquid on the tile, Renjun picks out a packet of Haribo bears while you fill a cup of big gulp, nose scrunching up upon touching the sticky machine. Upon exiting the store and leaving the uninterested cashier behind, Renjun tells you he knows a place the two of you could go to share your goods.
"Though we're going to have to break some rules getting there. Think you're up for that, top student?"
"Why of course, second top student."
Tumblr media
You had no idea breaking some rules entailed sneaking past the sleeping security guard and jumping over some barriers in a paid car park building. How did Renjun even know this?
"Isn't this illegal?"
"Only if we get caught." Renjun winks, "and I know for a fact they don't check the cameras regularly."
Renjun holds out his hand for support. You take it and jump off a small ledge. You admit, it was exhilarating. And was your heart beating because of the adrenaline, or was it Renjun's hand that he didn't pull away, even after you landed.
"We're here."
Renjun opens the door and reveals the rooftop parking lot. The air was cold against your flushed face and the empty space seven floors up made you feel like you were floating amongst the grey jungle. You run out, stretching your arms before lying on your back, not caring about how dirty the ground was. You felt free.
"I don't want to make 9pm coffees for the book club ladies for the rest of my life!" You yell into the open air.
Your partner in crime (literally) laughs before joining you on the cold concrete.
"Well, well. Look how far the top student has fallen. How would the principal feel knowing you've trespassed."
You roll your eyes, a stupid smile etched on your face. Placing down your icy drink, you turn your body to face the boy.
"I could say the same about you. Aren't you runner up for valedictorian? After me, of course."
"Actually, I'm number one contender." He responds, turning to mirror your position.
Oh.
The two of you were closer than expected. Lying on a dirty parking lot floor, noses almost touching.
Oh.
His eyes flit down to your lips.
You cough awkwardly before sitting up, red in the face.
"Do you want to try some of my drink?"
"Yeah, okay."
He silently sips on the drink. Though it was cold, it couldn't calm his burning ears down.
Tumblr media
A few hours pass. The two of you spent that time stargazing, talking about whatever on your minds, and exchanging shy touches.
"Do you believe in aliens?"
"Uh, yeah I do. Space is massive - I doubt humans are the only intelligent life form out there."
Except all good things must come to an end. Come 3am, the two of you tread back to the seven eleven, hoping a bus would be there to take you home.
"Do you think the guy's still at the register?"
"Probably. I snuck a look at his phone earlier. I think he's been caught cheating."
The pair of you snicker and a bus rolls up. The doors open to reveal the same driver you had coming over.
"Lovebirds on their way home now, eh?"
"What? We're- we're not-"
"Oh give up. I've seen enough of you to know what's going on. Are you two getting on or not."
With matching red faces, you and Renjun board the bus. Except this time, he sits next to you, not on the other side.
"You're awful at drawing." Renjun laughs. Your attempt at drawing him on cold window cries a little, the condensation dripping where you touched it.
"Yeah, well. There's a reason you're always top of art."
He smiles, reaching past you to draw his version of you. It looked much better than whatever you drew and you were never the one to let him win. So you destroyed both drawings with one swipe of your palm.
"Sore loser."
"Cry about it."
Tumblr media
Arm in arm, you walked home together at the same pace. Renjun slowing down so he'd match your comfortable speed. You'd never thought you would ever leave the house, spend time with your rival, only to come back with some weird tension between the two of you.
Renjun sends you to your doorstep and you turn to him.
"Thanks for cheering me up. It really helped."
"Don't worry about it. I also ended up getting stuff off my chest too."
Then he cracks the cutest smile and you couldn't stop yourself.
You kissed him.
On the cheek. You weren't ready for the lip on lip thing just yet.
"I'll see you Monday then." You hurriedly mutter, rushing inside to hide your embarrassment and to avoid seeing his reaction.
"Yeah. Monday." Renjun whispers into the night, a soft smile on his face.
Tumblr media
EPILOUGE
"Renjun, you've got to start cleaning up your paint pots."
Your boyfriend looks up from his easel, eyes sparkling realizing it was you.
"You're home early!"
It was a couple of years later. Renjun was perusing his art career after having a thorough talk with his family (it took a few months), which explained the apartment-studio thing going on.
You came clean to yours about not wanting to take over the diner. Though you expected them to look at you in disappointment, they didn't. All they said was that they were proud of you for dreaming.
And now, you were sharing an apartment with the love of your life (who was currently covered in paint), once rival (you are now also covered in paint. He gave you a massive hug and a welcome home kiss).

PROPAGANDA
Vriska Serket
vriska
"Vriscourse"
this is her tournament
She fits all four categories. Also it's Vriska
people have been arguing about whether shes pure evil or an innocent baby for like 14 years straight. nobody can fathom that shes NEITHER. like yes she is a product of her environment and the reason she killed all those people was because her spider mother was forcing her to and also due to her position in society she was encouraged to act that way and was literally a 13 yr old child just doing what was expected of her by the world around her so it isnt her fault for being in the role she was raised to be in when she didnt know there was any other option. that being said shes also just kind of a dick and put stairs in a paralysed guys house even though she knew that was a cruel thing to do cus she thought it was funny. like shes a child thats a product of her environment and she did a lot of awful things but a lot of it can be explained by the fact that she had a neglectful literal giant spider as a mother and that she was also being manipulated by an omniscient cue ball god to hurt her friends. but that doesnt EXCUSE how she acted and many of the things she did were just cruel and unnecessary like how she treated tavros. so in conclusion she is NOT an evil irredeemable bitch because she’s literally a preteen when she does all of the bad stuff + when she was messaging john she finally was away from alternian society and could finally reflect on how killing made her feel and how she realised she didnt enjoy doing it even though it was what was expected of her. HOWEVER she also isnt a sweet angel because it doesnt EXCUSE her actions it just explains them, she still did cruel shit and hurt people and acted selfishly etc… putting vriska in a box is a huge disservice to her as a character because shes like one of the most important characters in the story because of the way she’s constantly trying to steal the spotlight and insert herself into the story etc but instead of people doing any kind of interesting analysis on one of the most complex characters in the story they instead argue for a decade and a half about whether or not she did anything wrong… which goes against the whole point of her role in the story
c'mon. it's vriska.
Gon Freecss
It's ALWAYS the beef between people saying he's actually a monster and the ones saying "he's just a kid and he never did anything wrong in his entire life". The first ones won't accept the fact that Gon is kind with his loved ones. That he's hurt and did bad things when he was hurt. That he cares for his friends. That he is naive and really acts as a child. That the monster he is inside isn't ALL that he is – only a part of what he is. That a big part of how he acts was caused by the fact all of the adults in his life never saw the red flags and pushed him to keep acting like that because "haha quirky kid". The second ones won't accept the fact that Gon is selfish – it's literally said multiple times in the canon that he is but you know, selfish is an "actually bad flaw that only bad people have so he can't be". They won't accept the fact that his naivety is the thing that makes him morally grey because he can't tell the difference between good or bad. That he doesn't really care for anyone except him and his friends / family. That he was literally called a monster, canonically. That he would destroy the world and then himself with no hesitation because he's hurt. That him being young is, yes, a point, but that doesn't mean he's "just a little angel uwu". That's simply NOT how his character is written. The worst problem I think, is that none of these people seems to acknowledge the fact Gon is supposed to represent the yin part of yin and yang (while his best friend, Killua, represents the yang). Gon is supposed to be "in light there is darkness". How the light can actually be monstruous, maybe more than darkness, but it is still light. While Killua is supposed to be "in darkness there is light" and how darkness can be pure, maybe more than light, but it's still darkness – they seem to get the yang part more for some reasons ? The yin and yang analogy is my favorite trope ever and it's so sad to see this fandom watering it down because they won't accept the fact Gon is morally grey.

Look At Me
Eddie Munson x Male Reader
@mlmmetalhead
1k of SFW Fluff
Summer was ravaging Hawkins again, as it did every year. The heatwave always did it’s best to put you in a sour mood, you were hot and your skin was sticky with sweat. Your boyfriend Eddie’s van didn’t have working a/c which made it almost more miserable than walking places since the heat built up so much in the metal incasement.
“This shit is going to be the death of me babe..” Eddie mumbles as he drove, his hair tied back messily in a half asses attempt to keep it out of his face as the two of you drove back for the gas station for a pack of cigarettes. Sweat was constantly threatening to run out of your hair and down into your eyes but you had the ability to lift the hem of your shirt at your neck and save yourself, Eddie just had to pray. And praying wasn’t something he was ever good at.
“We could go to my house, it’s cooler than yours..no offense of course!” Eddie choked on a laugh for a second before letting his eyes look over at you for a split second and then back on the road. “No Y/N, what’s offensive is you think the first time I meet your parents I’m going to be looking like this.”
You rolled your eyes but also chuckled. He did have a point, Eddie had been fearful of making a bad first impression and hadn’t even tried sneaking over to see you, even if you tempted him with how ‘hot’ it would be. He was serious about you. “No…I think we should go to the pool..” He grinned as he imagined how he’d do anything to be completely submerged in water right now, even if he had to hear kids screaming and playing in the background.
You stayed quiet until you reached the trailer, neither of you in proper swimming clothes. “Eddie, I don’t have anything to wear.” You finally spoke up, refusing to get out of the van until he’d come around to your side. He leaned against the burning hot door before taking his arm off and motioning you to come on and hop out, holding his seemingly seared flesh and giving a ‘mmm’ in pain as he did so.
“Yeah babe, trust me. I’ve got clothes for you.”
He was right, he did have a few pairs of black swimming trunks that hadn’t been worn in god knows how long. They were ill fitting on both of you, the elastic being worn out you both needed to make sure they were tied decent enough or else risk Eddie flashing his ass to everyone. “I’m not putting a shirt on here just to take it off there..” He mumbled as he stretched and debated putting his hair up better now while he still had the chance. He would end up taking it down before getting it wet anyway knowing how hard it was to pull a hair tie out of a tangled wet mess of curls.
“Eddie..” Y/N spoke up from his place on the bed, his voice soft and uncomfortable sounding.
“Yeah?— Hey, what’s up? What’s wrong?” He saw your facial expression and immediately dropped his hands out of his hair and made his way over. Standing in front of you and placing his hands on your shoulders in an attempt to push you back enough to get your eyes off his chest and on his face.
“I can’t go to the pool..I’ll just be upset the whole time..” Eddie slid one of his hands up from your shoulder to hold your face as he bent down closer locking his dark eyes with yours. “Look at me okay? You deserve to go to the pool just as much as anyone else. T-shirt on or binding or not.”
You tried to turn your face away out of embarrassment but his hand quickly took up the other cheek as well keeping you looking at him. “And if anyone tells you otherwise I’m going to drown them.” Y/N laughed at how serious he sounded while still having that grin on his face. As he let you go he went back to his dresser and pulls out an old black shirt he sometimes let you sleep in and pulled it on.
“You know, I haven’t gone swimming in years, but when I did last I wore a shirt too..” he commented as he lifted up the hem slightly when you asked ‘why’, confused. “Because when I came to live with Wayne I guess I sort of, ate my feelings?” He brushed his fingers over the markings on his sides and hips.
“I was so fuckin’ skinny when I was with my dad. Wayne couldn’t hardly keep the house stocked with food because I’d just..eat..but he never said anything to me.” He chuckled thinking about it, thinking of himself when he was younger was always a trip. “I got over it, being scared about there not being food at home. And I dropped the weight again, but obviously y’know, I’m not a model.” He struck a pose for you, still trying his best to make you laugh as he always did.
“So yeah, shirts it is then!” He grabbed your hands that were sitting in your lap and pulled you up off the bed finally seeing your face pull a smile to match his own. You were happy that maybe with him you’d actually be able to focus on having fun, because the two of you together was all that mattered.

skk in fifteen fr
Tumblr media
I am desperate to analyse this one section of Fifteen.
You can't tell me that this isn't important.
My overarching point for this post is Chuuya seeing Dazai as a person despite him doing the most dehumanising shit.
Dazai is literally speaking in a flat voice, "despite being attacked by the enemy and hitting the ground and buildings". Despite being ambushed and clearly going through some painful shit, he's like a robot, soulless. Chuuya gives him a choice of killing him after he gets information, or just killing him then, to which he's like "Yeah go on, do it now then. Kill me." and Chuuya is taken aback. But, instead of being like "What the fuck is wrong with you? You're a freak." he realises that underneath him is a human guy. "The figure was silent for a moment. Then he finally saw Dazai, and realised that he was dealing with a person that had personality." Like??? Chuuya babes, that's not how you react to that. But, I am glad he did. Because it just shows that, unlike everyone else, Chuuya sees Dazai's death wish as a human part of him. Yes, the other aspects of Dazai that Chuuya hates he does view as inhuman and dark, but the one aspect of him that everyone else sees completely different, Chuuya does a wholeass 180 on it. He registers him as a person, a living breathing person, and this is so important to me. I can't remember if I posted it or not, wait I no no I didn't, I was about to post it and it all deleted itself, oh fuck. Anyways sorry, I wrote a whole rant about Chuuya and Dazai's humanity and how it's such a crucial part in their relationship and themselves respectively. Being perceived as human is very important to the both of them, moreso Chuuya. Chuuya actively tries to be compassionate and is a caring person, whereas Dazai is cold, but doesn't understand why everyone else sees him as a bad person. Much like Ranpo, he is unsure of how to feel or be in the world, but is not as open to criticism I guess? Once again, I can't remember which rant, whether I posted it or not, but in one of them I made a point about when Chuuya punches Dazai when he talks about the Colonel's death, and how important Dazai's reaction is, before and after the punch. When he says "Right?" after he talks about the executive position, it almost seems like he's asking Chuuya for guidance if this is right, but he's Dazai and obviously motherfucker does not know how to go around that. Dazai doesn't feel anything for when people die or get hurt, he's accustomed to violence. However, he genuinely seems a bit at a loss here. And, when he confronts Shibusawa, his feelings on the matter flip? He tells Shibusawa that he "can't forgive him for the Colonel's death". Maybe Chuuya did have an impact on him, maybe he felt that way all along. Anyways, this scene (Fifteen) is so important to me and how Chuuya recognises him as a human lying underneath him. To Chuuya, not only is he not responding to pain the way normal people should, but he apparently also has a twisted death wish and asks Chuuya sincerely to kill him. Despite the shock that would initially come with this, Chuuya decides to recognise that "oh, he's a person with depth". One of my favourite lines is "The figure was silent for a moment. Then he finally saw Dazai,…" because it's just him being shocked and a bit like "the fuck?" but then the "he finally saw Dazai" like in that one moment, (which it did) it started a bond that neither of them could sever even if they wanted to. From that moment, they were bound for life, because he saw him. I can't at all articulate how I feel about this line, I know I always say that, but this time the words actually aren't processing like they're in my brain there I know what I mean, but I can't type it. Anyways, that ends this short little rant, even though I do have many more thoughts on this stacked in my scattered brain but I can't release them unless I am prompted to release them :') Anyways, thank you for reading! Have a lovely day/night <333

I’m not sure if you’re still taking Halloween requests but can you please write a Baji, chifuyu, and (if you write for him) Ryusei x reader haunted maze with prompts 5 and 11
Thank you so much!
hey love! Thanks for requesting! It’s a little short and I just COULDNT fit in the quote for the life of me, but I really wanted to do this sooo (Hanma was added in as a bonus).
I also needed chifuyu after the new chapter…
Hope you enjoy <33
Tumblr media
GOING TO A HAUNTED MAZE W/ THEM
Tumblr media
reader is gender neutral!
characters: baji, chifuyu, Hanma, and ryusei
tw: cursing
Tumblr media
BAJI
Now, I’m not gonna lie, Baji acts like he’s a tough guy. And he is…just not in the way you’d imagine.
Like in the haunted house, Baji most definitely resorts to violence immediately in a maze too. Someone jumps at him, scares him, he punches them, and they get knocked out. The only person he doesn’t do that with is the chainsaw person.
He knows damn well he can’t beat a chainsaw.
Unfortunately, 99.999% he gets kicked out of maze. He always curses out the security guards and the actors along the way saying, “they made it too scary”. It’s funny really. And at this point you’ve gotten used to the whole mess. You both have been kicked out of mazes multiple times. The security guards even know your name because of it!
The only maze that you haven’t gotten kicked out of was the first one where the actors were allowed to touch you. Did Baji knock every single actor who touched him? Yes. But did they have it coming? Also, yes.
The problem with that maze was the fact you guys got super lost…and I mean SUPER lost.
In the other mazes, you’re always being escorted out. But with that one, you weren’t and of course you got lost. After all, Baji isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, and that maze was such a mess that you got lost in an instant. Baji punching actors left and right, and you constantly making wrong turns and finding dead ends, things just got terrible.
Eventually, you both got so lost that even Baji was loosing his shit.
You ended up needing to get rescued, which, by the way, was just embarrassing. The walk of shame out of there was horrible for both you and Baji. Neither of you ever lived that down.
Needless to say, you didn’t go back to that haunted maze. Any other haunted maze though, is fine.
You’ll get kicked out anyway!
Tumblr media
 RYUSEI
Ryusei is honestly the best, yet worst person to go to a haunted maze.
The guy gets a kick out of these things. Any scary movie, scary house, scary maze, is just a fun thing for him! He laughs whenever the actors jump at them and pats them on the back like a friend would. The few actors who actually made him flinch got some money from him, legit. That rarely happens though.
Yeah, he’s definitely a crazy guy. Even in the mazes where people can touch you, he just does his signature laugh and continues. It’s honestly interesting.
The bad part about being in a maze with him is how he makes fun of you.
He absolutely will taunt the shit out of you. Every little jump you make, he’s pointing it out and laughing at you. He always has this wide smirk and just laughs at you, picking apart every little moment.  Hell, he’s definitely snuck his phone in and taken videos of your worst moments. He’s got them in a black mail folder.
It’s truly horrifying, especially when he points out the genuinely embarrassing things. He will never let you live down any of those things.
On the bright side, Ryusei will happily go first in the maze. And he’ll let you cling onto him (with some grief, of course). Sometimes he even scares off the actors with his laughs. Of course, he somehow has a great sense of direction and can guide you out of the maze in like a half-hour.
It’s impressive if anything.
Overall, going to a haunted house with Ryusei is hell. But hey at least he has fun!
Tumblr media
  CHIFUYU
Poor Chifuyu. He’s just a scaredy cat.  He can’t handle any of this stuff.
Now, don’t get me wrong. He definitely tries to act like he’s tough. He always tells you beforehand that he will “protect you” and that “you can cling onto him.” He even offers to go first, just so he can “protect you”.
Yeah, that definitely didn’t happen. If anything, the opposite did.
Seriously. At the first jump scare, Chifuyu was screaming like a little girl and trying to get as far away from the actor as possible. He immediately hid behind you and used you as a shield. He even went as far as shoving his in front of you.
That was pretty much what the rest of that maze was like.
If someone was chasing after him, he’d run in front and shove you behind him. If an actor jump scared him, he quivered behind you and made sure to shove you in front. He ended up shoving his face in your shoulder for most of the maze, so he barely even saw the jump scares.
Yeah, he’s a wuss.
By the end of the maze, he was pretty much clinging onto you like the world depended on it. Even after you got guided out of the maze, he would not let you go. He pretty much clung to you until the next day, where he finally relaxed.
It was truly traumatizing for him…so maybe don’t go to a haunted maze with him again. He might just shit himself if he goes again.
Tumblr media
 HANMA
We all know how Hanma is. In any other situation, he’s a batshit crazy guy who’s into all the creepy stuff. If anything, he’s IS the creepy stuff. And he, of course, is that same crazy, creepy guy in haunted mazes.
He has never once even FLINCHED in a haunted maze. Not when someone has jumped right in his face, not someone has chased him, not when someone literally GRABS him. He just laughs and then taunts the hell out of the actor.
The poor actors honestly. The guy will literally bend down, grin right in their face, and then absolutely rip them apart. He’ll call them weak, start ripping apart their appearance, their jobs, their lives. He’ll literally ruin them in anyways possible. You’ve seen a couple actors cry from it. It’s honestly sad.
Even worse, he scared the people around him too…kids included.
Of course, Hanma just carries on like nothing happened, and laughs it off. He really does just get a kick out of it. He is a freaky guy.
Your time in the maze, naturally, gets ruined from Hanma’s antics, which you expect. But at least you have the actual maze to look forward too, right? Nope. Hanma is so tall he can just peak over the maze and see where to go.
What can I say, the guy is a giraffe.
Overall, don’t take Hanma to the haunted maze. The guy will probably make a child cry…again.

Hey, this might be an unpopular opinion but… a person can be a fan of both Nancy Wheeler AND Steve Harrington. It doesn’t need to be an either/or situation. Maybe it’s just my feed and I need to diversify it, but I am seeing a lot of people be like “oh, Nancy Wheeler is the innocent one in all of this, Steve was the one who fucked up” OR “Steve Harrington is innocent one in all this, Nancy fucked up.” Like… no, friends. There’s some nuance.
First things first: Steve did some messed up shit season 1. There is no denying that. Did Jonathan take inappropriate photos without people’s consent? Yes. Did Steve need to break his camera? No. Did Steve need to call Nancy a whore on the sign? No. Did he need to say all that really toxic shit—especially about Will being queer??? Absolutely not!! But also.. after getting his ass handed to him by Jonathan, he kind of realized he fucked up and WENT TO APOLOGIZE. He just happened to accidentally stumble upon the Upside Down. And then he stuck around. AND AFTER THAT, NANCY MADE THE DECISION TO GET BACK TOGETHER WITH HIM. That’s not on Steve.
In season two, did Nancy and Steve both make mistakes? Yes. But it isn’t because either of them were ignoring each others traumas…it was because they were both dealing with trauma in different ways. For Steve, his coping mechanism was “it’s fine, I’m fine, everything’s fine. Nothing happened.” That’s an avoidance response, common in people with PTSD. For Nancy, the way she coped was she needed to get closure for Barb. She literally could not think about anything OTHER than Barb—everything was a trigger for her…yet another common PTSD response. Neither was more wrong or more right for how they responded. They just responded differently. Do I personally think it was fucked up of Nancy to get drunk and call Steve bullshit? Yes. But I also recognize that she was hurting, she had lowered inhibitions, and she is a traumatized teenager. Do I think Steve should have just… left her at the party, drunk and alone? No. But also his girlfriend of a year just told him she didn’t love him. And he was hurting, and a traumatized teenager. Do I think Nancy cheated on Steve? Yes. Do I think she’s a horrible person because of that? No. But she caused hurt—same as Steve. And honestly, I really wish the ST writers would have them have some sort of conversation about this all.
Now these are just the first two seasons—I have *thoughts* about the fourth (i.e., the writers really do be trying to ruin both Nancy and Steves character arcs). But my whole point is… I am so tired of seeing everyone choose one or the other. And act like there is no god damn nuance.
Personally, I love the idea of Ronance! Do I think Robin might be a little worried about it at first, especially as she and Steve probably had many a conversation about how he was really hurt? Yes. But do I think Steve would forbid her from dating Nancy?? Or being weird about it??? No! At least, in the world where the ST writers aren’t trying to force them together,
I also really love Steddie! I think the two boys balance each other out! Where Steve is quiet, Eddie is loud. Where Eddie is terrified, Steve is brave. They need each other. They work better with each other.
Ultimately, I don’t think Steve and Nancy were EVER right for each other. I think they wanted to be right for each other because that’s what they were told to do. But neither of them is a bad person—they’re just both nuanced, traumatized humans.

Some headcanon-leaning Majima meta/rambling/bullshit
I threatened to write this up over on a Discord and I'm now like a week ahead on Day Job Shit and I have time and it's fresh in my head so brace for hc/meta dump about Majima and Catching Feelings.
There is a whole sequence of Majima's Shoulder Devil Nishitani-voiced internal monologue I ended up cutting from The Bit, and while I did manage to keep that general thread in there, I wish I could have worked in this whole scene because it really spelled out a whole lot of Majima's bullshit. Specifically, how Majima believes he can't trust his own heart because he only ever loves people who are bad for him or who he's bad for.
It's not like he just pulled this out of his ass, either. Everyone he's shown as getting even the least little bit emotionally close to either has something awful happen to them, or does something awful to him. Saejima? Makoto?
And... Sagawa. Oof.
This is definitely my headcanon but tell me Majima, fresh out of a year in the hole, wouldn't just latch right onto the first person to show him even a little bit of kindness. Tell me Sagawa wasn't the exact kind of Bastard who would take advantage of that. There is a line Shoulder Devil Nishitani drops in that deleted scene, something to the effect of:
"He knew exactly what he was doin' to ya. Easier to put a collar on a dog that loves ya, right?"
And sure, he showed his true colors eventually and sure, Majima figured him out (or hell, he's enough of a Bastard that he might have even just come right out and said "sure I've been playing your heart like a cheap kazoo but you liked it so who's really at fault here? :)" ugh god I still wish we could have thrown him off a fucking pier but I digress). But the damage was already done.
As for the actual Nishitani: I think he was a little of both! He was also a Bastard, but the kind of Bastard that's exactly what it says on the tin and doesn't pretend to be anything but, and Majima was definitely skeeved out by getting hit on by this horny weirdo but also... kind of relieved, maybe? That this one was at least honest about his bullshit right up front? It sure would have been a refreshing change of pace after three years of Sagawa's mind game bullshit.
...and then of course he watched said weird horny bastard take like five bullets in center mass for him which, I would imagine, did little to dispel the "they're bad for me /I'm bad for them" dichotomy he'd built up. So that's always in the back of his head, that he can't trust his gut or his heart or his feelings, because every time he does someone gets hurt.
Then along comes Kiryu, who is both the first Secret Third Thing he's ever encountered, and somehow also both of the other two things at the same time and Majima does not know how to handle this. He's trying to push Kiryu away and drag him in closer at the same time. It's messy and ugly and he hates it but he has 0 idea how to be an adult human person in a healthy relationship of ANY kind with another adult human person and, let's be real here, neither does Kiryu.
Kiryu has NO idea what he does to Majima when he takes that bullet at the end of The Bit.
He thinks he had one chance to keep Majima from getting his head blown off and taking that bullet in his shoulder was the best thing he could do in that situation. And he wasn't wrong! He had to spend a night or two in the hospital about it, but he was fine! Majima was fine and went on to beat the shit out of the bad guys so Kuroshi and Kei-chan could deliver them to the Third Chairman in a gift bag with a shiny purple bow on top! Solid net positive outcome, right?
Does Majima see it that way? HE ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY DOES NOT! All he sees is one more person he's fallen in love with getting himself hurt, almost getting himself killed, and he knows he can never let it happen again but "never letting it happen again" means "cutting Kiryu out of his life" and at this point he might as well cut out his own literal heart.
And hoo boy does that shit ever compel me. I love reading and looking at other folks' soft fic and art, don't get me wrong, I love seeing these two happy, but I also love putting two dudes in the Feelings Smashing Machine and cranking that shit up to 11 and these two have a lot of delicious Feelings to smash, especially Majima.

God, the disaster that is Nirnaeth Arnoediad must've brought Maedhros and his brother's reputation down the drain, Maedhros especially. The alliance was named after him and that must've brought so much shit to his name. Like, I wonder how he lived after that battle? Was he able to sleep every night knowing he failed spectacularly? Did he always dream of what could have been? Because every time I think of that fifth battle, I think to myself, how did Maedhros bear that failure with grace, when I myself felt that shame when they fell back. What do you think?
The Nirnaeth feels like a turning point, for the Noldor in Middle-earth. A number of things went wrong, among them that Tolkien tells us Maedhros revealed his strength too soon to Melkor. There were so many moments it seemed like they could pull this off, or at least cause some real damage to Melkor, but there were just so many things that worked against them, not least of all the betrayals Melkor sowed among the Noldor's allies and the fact that the Feanorians had alienated major Elvish allies in Middle-earth (Doriath, Nargothrond) which could have made a real difference in the fight.
Part of being a leader is living with the choices you make. Honestly, a critical part of being a leader is being able to accept your mistakes and bad judgement calls without letting it ruin your ability to make decisions going forward. The problem is, it feels like Maedhros was already growing desperate. It seems he had already begun to lose faith that Melkor could be defeated, for the Nirnaeth chapter opens on how Maedhros' heart was uplifted to hear of Beren and Luthien's success in assaulting Angband, seeing that Melkor was not, in fact, unassailable (ergo, prior to B&L, Maedhros had believed or begun to believe Melkor was untouchable). Fingolfin, beloved high king of the Noldor who led them through hundreds of years of the long peace after fencing Melkor into Angband, met his glorious and messy end less than twenty years earlier. Fingon is a fetus of a king by Elf standards. The Feanorians have now turned two of the largest Elven kingdoms in Middle-earth against them, one of which was founded and ruled by their own damn cousin. The Feanorians are still bound to their oath. All of this leads to Maedhros showing his hand to Melkor too soon, and the whole thing has an air of desperation around it. Not very auspicious for them.
Personally, I view the Nirnaeth as THE major turning point for Maedhros as an individual. I talked here about his strategy and how it changes after the Nirnaeth, but I think his defeat here is what makes him completely and genuinely lose hope that Melkor can ever be defeated at all. I think Maedhros needed the Nirnaeth to prove something to himself, and it does the opposite of that. They lose a lot and get virtually nothing in return. The name itself tells you what a devastating defeat it was ("Unnumbered Tears").
And I do not think he bore it with grace.
It's after the Nirnaeth we see Maedhros become increasingly willing to enact violence against other Elves, and to do virtually anything to get his hands on Luthien's Silmaril, because I think he does not consider the other two obtainable. Maedhros, in my mind, is simply trying to get his hands on one piece of their goal before Melkor conquers Middle-earth (which, to Maedhros, I think is inevitable). Maedhros has neither amdir nor estel, and he sinks lower and lower into a moral nadir flailing around in the general direction of his goals, because if you have no hope of a future, who cares about fucking the present?
However, regarding the Nirnaeth and its impact on Maedhros' reputation: Don't worry! I'm sure by the end of the First Age, the Nirnaeth isn't the first thing that comes to mind regarding Maedhros' impact on Beleriand 🙃

How to survive a friendship breakup
Acceptance
„I guess what they say is true. Friends come and go but I never thought that would apply to you.“ - unknown author
The first step to heal is always acceptance. It won’t help you if you lay in your bed for the whole day and think about them and how much fun they have with their other friends.
It hurts but people owe you nothing. They can just decide that they no longer want to be your friend and there is nothing you can do about this.
Don’t beg for answers
„Some people aren’t loyal to you. They are loyal to their needs of you. Once their needs change, so does their loyalty.“ - unknown author
Please, don’t run around and beg them for answers like a fool. Even if you get answers it wouldn’t change anything and chances are high that those answers would just end up hurting you even more.
Reflect your behavior
„Friendship means understanding, not agreement. It means forgiveness, not forgetting. It means the memories last, even if contact is lost.” - unknown author
Yes, sometimes your own behavior is the reason why the friendship ended and that’s okay. It’s okay to make mistakes and it’s okay to be angry and sad about it. However, that is your chance to change something.
Take a piece of paper, your iPad or your notebook…it doesn’t really matter and write down what went wrong.
Write down the reason of your argument, what you said and how you reacted. Were you mean on purpose? Did you lie to save your own ass? Did you get loud?
What could you do better in the next discussion you’re going to have, because this was surely not the last disagreement in your life.
Don’t stalk them
“We are neither on good terms or bad. We are no longer anything.” - unknown author
Honestly, it depends how your friendship ended. If you two just slowly fell out of contact there is no reason to remove them from your contacts or your instagram. Just let it be and don’t text them or react to stories etc.
However, if the friendship ended in a harsh disagreement I would advise you to either block or delete them from your contacts and every social media account you have. You’re not doing it to be petty but to stay strong. You don’t want to see if they got a new boyfriend/girlfriend or how much fun they have with their new friends.
Also, there is a fun saying that I think is very true: out of sight out of mind.
Look forward
“Somebody asked me if I knew you. A million memories flash through my mind, but I just smiled and said I used to.” - unknown author
Even if it felt like the end oft he world – it is not and you will realize this very soon. Spend time with yourself, go shopping alone, try out the new cute cafè alone or start going to the gym.
Point is, get yourself out in the world and meet new people.
It’s also very important that you stay gracious and don’t talk shit about them behind their back. It’s nobodies business what went wrong between you two and you don’t want to be the one that’s trash talking.
Just stay calm, collected and if you meet them in public again just smile, maybe a short hello and go on with your day!

Second chances
Let's get this out of the way. Throughout this post, I will not name one certain individual, not because she has done anything wrong, but to make ego searching this post a lot harder for her. This also means that this post will not be easily found. The thing is, I don't really even need to mention her to make a point, as her situation isn't a big part of it, it only serves as the backdrop. So I will neither name her previous life nor her current.
Second, I'm not gonna shit on Nijisanji EN. Too many have already done that before, and it's getting a bit tiring. Plus, again, it doesn't serve the point I am trying to make, however, it does serve as a backdrop.
So, basically, to keep it short, recently a certain person had been terminated in a pretty fricken dumb way which I'm not going to get into, which involves them self-exposing their own incompetence. This termination also came after the person who was terminated made two attempts on her own life, fortunately she's still with us.
But that's not the point of this story. Recently, three of the talents have released a not really smart video, basically digging themselves deeper into a hole, if I may so personally, those being Elira Pendora, Vox Akuma and Ike Eveland. Now there are theories going around, but let's keep it as a fact, they were used as spokespeople, either against their will or otherwise, we don't know. We'll get back to the three.
Now, out of all of this mess, one thing was clear. Zaion LanZa, also known in her current life as Sayu Syncronisity, was right. After her termination a month after debuting at Nijisanji as Zaion, she was terminated, and she wrote a scathing expose about how her experience at Nijisanji was, and spoilers, it wasn't great, and later, it turned out a lot of it lined up with what the most recent terminated member experienced.
The thing is, at the time, she was mostly ignored. Not by everybody, but by too many, in my opinion, mainly because she was only there for a month. I know, I was there when it all happened. People either ignored her, or just said that she was salty or straight up called her a liar. Her reputation as Sayu therefore tanked, and it was only after a week after the most recent termination that people slowly began believing her completely.
The thing is, her reputation only improved almost a year after it happened, and from what I understand, her offenses weren't even that severe. People called it mistakes, yes, but not bad enough to warrant a termination. But okay, maybe Nijisanji didn't think she fit into the Nijisanji ecosphere, so she was let go. I'm not going to go into how she got terminated, that's a whole different can of worms, all I'm going to say is, she got terminated, and her reputation didn't exactly recover.
But, and excuse me for repeating the same phrase but, here's the thing. After almost a year, people should have forgiven her. She had already apologized, I'm not sure if she's done it multiple times, but she did at least once. She had admitted she made mistakes.
I'm a firm believer of second chances, everybody deserves one. Now, I do have to say, people don't deserve second chances from everyone, depending on how bad the offense was, but, look. If we can forgive James Gunn for his tweets he made when he was dumb and stupid, we should be able to forgive Sayu for the dumb shit she said, right?
It's as if people don't actually believe in second chances. Now, I'm gonna be honest, I'm not really willing to give Nux Taku a second chance, not after he did Coco's graduation notice dirty, essentially acting like a rrat. But that's my personal issue, I've been betrayed too many times in my life, taken advantage of too many people that my flight response gets triggered quite easily. Fuck, it's why I stopped associating myself with the Steven Universe fandom, despite me still liking the series. It's not that they're inherently bad or that I think they're bad, it's that they're bad for my mental health, which is why I distance myself from them.
And if you ask me what my opinion is of Charlie (penguinz0) or Asmongold, I don't talk about them at all. They just give me too much of an I-don't-trust-them vibe. Not that they're untrustworthy, but I just don't want to burn my fingers on them.
The thing is, yes, the SA jokes were in bad taste, I agree. However, it just feels like people were looking for an excuse to hate on her. And now that all this shit with Nijisanji EN is going on, she's suddenly being hailed as someone who was right all along. It just doesn't sit well with me.
The thing is, we all want second chances, but we don't all want to give them. I personally believe that everybody deserve second chances. Not just one, but many. People continue to make mistakes in their lives, and yes, if it's better for your own mental health, you can decide not to give that person another chance. Maybe there are some people who just don't deserve second chances because they never take them, they never learn from them. As cynical as I am in life, I still believe people can change, either for the worse or the better.
Which brings us to Elira, Vox and Ike. No matter whether they're guilty of whatever people accuse them of or not, their reputation is toast. In the short term, they won't be able to recover it. However, let's look at another case.
Mikeneko. Amemiya Nazuna. Yes, even Uruha Rushia. Her reputation has sunk to the bottom of the ocean. However, I don't think it'll remain that way. In time, there will be people who will give her a second chance. Remember, it's forgive, not forget. People may forgive her, but they won't forget. Honestly, I've decided to stay away from that drama, as I really do not care about it, but I do believe she can, in time, recover her reputation.
I mean, fuck, if Logan Paul can come back from that Aokigahara controversy, as much as I still think there should have been more repercussions from it, anyone can.
So, as a closing thought. Elira. Vox. Ike. Your reputations are pretty much toast, at least at Nijisanji EN, but possibly also in your PLs as well. However, it's not unsalvageable, it never is. As long as you're willing to change, as long as you're willing to better yourselves, as long as you want all of that, you can come back on top.
Tanking your reputation isn't the end of it all. You'll probably have to start over from scratch, and you'll most likely never going to go back to the reputation you had before. But it's not the end. Just live and learn.
But I do think Nijisanji EN is practically done.

What are your thoughts on Odalia and Alador? I was very disappointed by them.
When i first saw them, i thought they would be a fun villain couple who loved eachother and that they would represent the different types of parental abuse. Odalia being the more controlling, active abuser, and Alador being the more passive abuser.
When Reaching out came out, i was excited, because i thought it would be about Amity seeking approval from Alador because 'well he isnt as bad, so maybe i can gain his approval!' but then the message would be 'no, passive abuse is just as harmful and should not be glossed over and minimised.'
instead it turned Alador into a 'distant but caring dad', and then later, it emphasised this by making Odalia this insane idiot who didnt care about the genocide, stupidly thinking she would be exempt.
I agree! Just in general I agree! I'll first talk about Alador because honestly what was done with him was... Boring and pointless? At best, it's to give Amity resolution on at least one of her parents (which is questionable because I'd argue Reaching Out makes her goal... Murky. I don't know what she wants from her father honestly because her coven beliefs and her little speech at the end make it clear she doesn't give a single shit about his opinion or Odalia's so... *shrug* ) and maybe to give an answer against the Abomatons but neither of those ever paid off. At all. Ever. So instead you have someone who is just an extremely inconsistent character because it feels like the first three times we see him are three different versions of him and that is including Understanding Willow where he didn't give the impression to be a space cadet or not on board with what Odalia pushed. The fact that he's pushed to be incompetent also makes his writing like a lot of the guys in the show because he's hard to take seriously, Edric is similar, and he's just... there. Oh, I guess there's also the fact that he's clearly making robots instead of just golems, even to the point of mech suits, and I hate that because what the fuck is TOH's technology level? But also who cares when the writers clearly didn't? Speaking of: Odalia. Odalia is actually the worse of the two despite getting less screen time and I don't just mean because she's a worse person. Don't get me wrong: She is. She feels like some bad, animated 90s movie villain where money and personal gain is how they'll justify doing literally ANYTHING. But also Odalia is still bad at it since she thinks executing a child is a great way to sell HOME DEFENSE PRODUCTS. Because the death of their kids is definitely what you want on your customer's minds! Before I get into her real problem though: I also hate that she knows Belos' whole plan. Hunter doesn't know it. Darius, Eberwolf and Raine, all coven heads, had to sneak and steal the plans to get the information. Why the fuck, besides making her somehow even MORE evil, did Belos ever tell this bitch who probably never even asked what he was doing with the abomatons? Just... It's bad and dumb writing. But kind of like all of Odalia's writing: It still matters. Odalia is written like a one off villain while being AMITY BLIGHT'S MOM. And that is her real problem: How evil she is throws all of her children into question. The twins seem worried about their mom's retribution so why do they skip class? Why do they invite trouble that Amity, at the peak of her being busy with school, was able to notice? How do they get away with it? I made interesting and fun answers to that while the show doesn't even care about the question. And Amity is even worse. Her arc is thrown into question. How was she able to befriend Luz so easily when we know Odalia wouldn't approve of her? How was she able to throw away her old social group? How could she have been confident enough to bring Willow back as a friend? Why wasn't there ANY more worry about her mom when she knows her mom. She probably could have guessed her mom would try to kill Luz, or even Willow, if they became her friends and probably should have gotten livid at her abandoning her 'better' friends. Back when it was just Understanding Willow, one could make a case that maybe Odalia eased up on it since then. That's what I did in my story, The Power of Love. That the pressure Amity felt was at least as much in her own head as it was externally pushed on her. Things that would have been WAY more interesting than what we got. Because what we got with the Blight family as a whole is a bunch of characters who don't make sense, flip their characters on a dime and are just trash as a whole unit. And that's from the family that was BURSTING with potential at the end of S1. And I will actually go "Hey, if you want a better Blight family, check this out," because I'm still incredibly proud of how I wrote them in my monstrous first story for TOH.

The reason they don't talk about it is because most of the fandom doesn't even want to acknowledge that Equius exists. They'd rather if he was just a bad fucking dream. Still others posit that he is literally their sexual abuser or something along those lines, made manifest in fiction. Thats what Equius is. Your rapist ex.
Thats what people genuinely believe about him. Yep. The dead horse.
Not Gamzee. The guy who canonically "sexually coerced a minor" (teenage Vriska) as a 40 year old guy, in Homestuck 2. This was a developement Hussie approved, OK'd and then shipped for public consumption. Gamzee "sexually coercing" Vriska is ACTUAL, HUSSIE-APPROVED CANON.
He definitely has no friends outside Nepeta. It was never fully explored. But yes I think she definitely would've made a difference in Equius if she was allowed to do that.
At the very least, her death, and him letting down Nepeta as a moirail and a friend, started something in Equius.
Despite him being adamant about the hemocaste and the supposed rules he and others must live by, at least he could see that what he did was wrong.
He understood that he hurt Nepeta, which he would never ever want to happen. He admitted his sins, and when confronted with Fefetasprite, he admitted to himself and others that he believes that he doesn't deserve forgiveness.
I'd say, that all that, coming from the most racist, stick-in-the-mud bastard, asshole character, is definitely something, and I think it should be noticed.
So yes, I think Nepeta tried what she could do so that Equius wouldn't be such a fucking piece a shit loser. With the best way possible. By being a light-hearted, loyal, lovely, silly friend who doesnt take things too seriously, and also tells Equius off when he's being a bastard.
I think Hussie also mentioned at one point, that Aradia was not under the influence of the heart-chip when she made the move. Almost immadiately after, the comic explains QUADRANT VACCILATION to the readers. Troll sure are alien and weird!
Yeah and the thing about Vriska... Aradia just simply doesn't give a shit anymore. On the pirate ship Vriska actually makes it a point to apologize to Aradia. But Aradia says not to think anything of it, because the wounds of the past doesnt fucking matter to her.
Because Aradia is INFINITELY more interested in "watching this whole place break apart :)" than be pissed because Vriska murdered her and crippled Tavros or whatever.
I genuinely think that she HONESTLY doesnt give a goddamn about SHITTY DICKHEAD BLUEBLOODS. And you know what? Absolutely fucking amazing for her! Hell yes, fuck haters, they dont fucking matter. Got bigger fish to fry.
And honestly? She wouldve had every right to COMPLETELY DESTROY Equius here, Sollux was right there too. Yet neither of them, nor Hussie decided to chew out or dunk on Equius. Eridan gets plenty of that.
But for some reason Equius seemingly only suffers, as much as he deserves. No more, no less.
No, instead of tearing into Equius, Aradia just says "im sorry, itwas a mistake for us to get involved :(" I think quite politely.
You'd think a dead horse, a complete joke of a fucking character, Equius, would deserve to get fucked with the painstick a little bit harder than that.
But no, Aradia is just like "sorry, it was a mistake", no telling him that he's a disgusting blueblood snob or whatever else. Neither does Sollux go for that either. If you remember, right before Aradiabot explodes on the meteor hideout, Sollux complains that "since she (aradia) became Equius' smoochbot they barely had any time to talk".
Which I guess means, that as fucked up as their relationship was I guess at least Sollux respected whatever Aradia had going on to not try to get involved in it, because Hussie couldve given him some choice lines regarding Equius. But he didnt.
Fitting for the Heir of Void to be left unnoticed by the fandom and the nu-fandom thinking he is nothing without Nepeta at his side. Probably for the best for him, because they probably would have spun him as some non-binary or trans because he had crossdressed as a maid in that Ministrife that one time. Though maybe not because he is mostly depicted as a muscular sweaty type. The modern fanbase don't like that body type. You have to be fat fat not muscle fat. Strange double-standards that Equius does not receive the harsh end compared to Eridan. I can only think that he did not get too much shit is probably because he is a highblood and Aradia is a lowblood. So him making out with Aradiabot (she is still a rusty as a ghost) and keeping her is all within his right compared to Eridan killing Feferi (who is the next Heiress). But that all ties in the hemocaste system that he would have to get over with. That and Equius is a part of Hussie in terms of liking horses. Not a full self insert, but like "Hey, I made this OC based on my weird interests in this one animal. So he is like a part of me in some way!" - Hussie
