obey me as smut tropes
it‘s all going under the cut because it is nsfw, even if i was holding back just a bit. especially with lucifer. if only because my view of them might be a bit different than the majority.
warnings: thoughts of stabbing for belphie‘s part
(no mephisto, raphael and thirteen this time, maybe another time)
lucifer -praise
he‘s the avatar of pride and as such he obviously has quite the high opinion of himself. it’s just a difference when you are the one to tell him these things. when you tell him how handsome he is, how well he did something. it’s hard for him to not get hard right then and there. he should have known that you would notice sooner or later and use that information against him. lucifer is used to being in control, especially when it comes to sex. no one has ever considered even trying to take control from him there, yet when you start praising him, there is a part that wants to submit to you. it’s only a matter of time before he actually does. he needs a break and you riding him as you tell him how pretty he looks beneath you might just be enough to recharge him.
mammon - exhibitionism
it’s a fantasy for him. the idea of other people recognising you as his and him as yours. it’s not even the idea of getting caught but the idea of people actually watching you. you two putting on a show as you moan for him and not for anyone else. him whimpering for you two just go for one more round. people watching you in that moment and realising they never had a chance satisfies a primal part of him. he likes leaving the door unlocked, doing it in places where anyone could walk in, but it’s not really enough. mammon can settle for this though, he’s not that picky, because in the end he knows that no one could ever have you the same way as he does. he is the avatar of greed and a certain possessiveness does come with that title, him wanting to show you off is just another expression of that.
leviathan - overstimulation
levi doesn’t really have much experience in actual life. sure he knows all the tropes, has read a bunch of manga and seen some of the most degenerate hentai there is, but it’s different from actually experiencing it. he cums untouched the first time you two have an actual make out session, but he wants to keep going. levi likes being overstimulated, if only because otherwise all sexual escapades would be rather short. while in hentai the protagonist usually takes the lead, he doesn’t mind having you taking it and drawing out orgasm after orgasm from him until he is nothing but a whimpering mess. he will do his best to make it good for you too, inexperienced has he may be. his premium akuzon subscription makes sure you can get just as overstimulated as him.
satan - temperature play
there’s something familiar about the feeling of hot and cold on his body. it feels an awful lot like the anger that used to run through his veins. he likes you sucking on an ice cube and then kissing him with your tongue still freezing. loves the feeling of hot wax between your bodies as he fucks into you. he has read about some more extreme sides of temperature play and he wants nothing more than try it out with you, but considering how easy it would be for the temperatures of the devildom to hurt you, he will let you do it to him instead. it‘s almost embarrassing how quick he cums when you bounce lit fire wands against his skin.
asmodeus - biting/marking
asmo cares a lot about his appearance and usually hates when people mess with it in any way. you are the exception to this. in fact he embraces it when you bite, scratch, mark him any way you want out of pleasure. he won‘t even bother to hide it, instead showing it off to anyone willing to listen. the thing with that is, that he wants to mark you up just as much. he likes drawing out foreplay, adding hickeys as he goes lower and lower to where you want him most, biting down every once in a while just to hear you squeal a bit. it‘s cute to how much he can wind you up with just this much. asmo also likes facials quite a bit. seeing your face covered with his cum just gets him immediately ready for the next round.
beelzebub - size difference
it‘s not a secret that beel is big. part of it comes from being a demon, the other part comes from working out all the time. but either way, you are probably small to him. fragile in a way. and he doesn‘t know why that exactly arouses him so much. it‘s when you hug him and he notices how much he has to hold back to not crush you. it doesn‘t compare to how he feels when you‘re riding him while sitting in his lap, maybe even struggling with just how big he is. he has to bite his lip to keep the groan that is threatening to leave his mouth in. it‘s hard holding back and beel hasn‘t been particularly good at it for a long time, so it‘s only a matter of time before he will flip you around.
belphegor - knife play
this once again goes either way. belphie is not really picky as to who wields the knife. when it‘s him holding it, a part that definitely amplifies the experience is how much you trust him after what happened. he has a hard time believing that you actually forgave him so a moment like this, with him connected to you as much as possible, having a knife near your most vulnerable parts, it‘s hard for him to not moan at the thought alone. when it‘s you holding the knife he loves it for the anticipation of whether you will actually use it. of course you never do, you‘re too good for this, but a part of him wants you to stab it right into him just once. he‘s a demon, he wouldn‘t die but it might be a suitable punishment for what he did. the thought of it really shouldn‘t get him off as much as it does.
diavolo - degradation
as the most powerful demon in the devildom there is no one that would dare talk against him. hence why it gets him so worked up when you do it. when you degrade him in any way it makes him want to prove you different, fuck you well enough that you will have to admit how wrong you were to say anything bad to him in the first place. it doesn‘t happen a whole lot, but whenever you want to initiate something just mention that you don‘t see why he is so respected, that you don‘t think he is all that strong and diavolo will spend all night proving you different.
barbatos - voyeurism, guided masturbation
the thing about barbatos is that he is always so busy. it‘s hard to find the time for sex. it really shouldn‘t be a surprise that he is surprisingly into walking in on you while you touch yourself, urging you to keep going as he simply watches and observes. telling you just how you should touch yourself to make yourself feel good. barbatos knows your body surprisingly well and has an easy time urging an orgasm out of you, even without touching you at all. he never lets you repay the favour though, he‘s more than content just watching you and getting himself off later. even if he has to stop time for that.
simeon - role play
simeon is a writer and he loves coming up with new characters. the fact he gets to try just how these characters would react in certain situations is helpful as well. most of the characters he writes for the scenarios he comes up with to spice up your bedroom life don‘t play a role in any of his books, but he ignores it whenever you bring it up. the role play aspect allows him to try out as many new things as you‘re both comfortable with while putting you into a different setting. there‘s always some guilt within simeon and pretending to be someone else slightly eases that up
solomon - hypnotism
when he first brought it up it was a bit of a joke, but the more he thought about it the more he wanted to try it out. it intrigues him how something like hypnosis can be used in situations like this. training you to cum when he says it, letting you wonder how you got in the situation. it also requires a whole lot of trust to do this with someone and he would lie if he claims that he‘s not interested in knowing just how much you trust him and whether you would do this with him.

The Brothers Crying & How to Comfort Them
“I love all the OM! boys! I just want the best for them *crushes them in my fist*”
Hope this wasn’t too repetitive! I tried to write it so it could be platonic or romantic, depending on your preference.
Thanks to @avatarofcuriousity for the concept and help with the bros <3
Content warnings: chapter 16 spoilers, angst lol
Lucifer
You already know. It takes a lot for this dude to cry.
If Lucifer cries around you, that’s how you know he’s in it for the long haul. It takes an ASTOUNDING amount of trust for him to even consider being that vulnerable around you. If he cries in your presence, or even seeks comfort from you, he’s saying he trusts you with his whole soul. The Avatar of Pride doesn’t give that to just anybody.
He’s one of those lucky folks that can, for the most part, blink back their tears.
When he does cry, it’s as if he’s still trying to hide it. He’s not overly loud, and mainly sniffles. He already has to be in extreme distress to cry in the first place, but if he’s on the higher end of that, he lets out quiet, breathy sobs.
His cheeks and nose redden slightly; it’s a heartbreaking version of that blush you know and love.
He doesn’t often hug you on his own. He either starts crying while you’re already in his arms, or keeps to himself.
How to comfort him: Wrap your arms around him and card your fingers through his hair. He appreciates head kisses, if you’re comfortable giving them. Don’t soothe him verbally, though– despite the good intentions behind them, any words of affirmation only remind him of his vulnerability.
Mammon
Also ashamed of crying. After centuries of being mocked whenever you get upset, who wouldn’t be?
Pretty good at hiding it. He can mostly hold back his tears, but sometimes the dam breaks and they fall against his will. At that point, he tries to subtly wipe them and make an Irish exit
When he’s trying to cover it up, you can see how his breathing changes— it quickens, then gets really slow, deep and deliberate once he takes notice. So even if he seems fine, the dramatic rise and fall of his chest gives it away to those close to him.
If he lets himself cry around you, that’s a huge sign of trust. Very much like Lucifer in that regard.
Holds you like you’ll vanish if he lets go. He tucks his head into the crook of your neck, squeezing his eyes shut and nearly crushing you in his arms. He sniffles, but more out of instinct than actual need.
Mammon has a lot of pent-up emotions, so it all comes tumbling out when he finally releases them. He whimpers and cries into your shoulder, only letting go when he’s mostly calmed down.
How to comfort him: Murmur sweet nothings into his ear. Reassure him. Rub his back softly, and remind him that you’ll be there until he feels okay again.
Levi
Doesn’t need to cry as much as his brothers, if only because he cries over anime and manga regularly.
Tears start rolling down his cheeks before he realizes what’s wrong. By time he notices that he’s crying, it’s too late to hide it.
Levi’s sobs are quiet, but audible from the next room over. He tries to muffle them or hold them in as best he can.
Curls up on himself when he’s upset. Feeling small makes him feel safe, and he’s too afraid to hug anyone— especially you. He doesn’t think you’d want to touch him, or even be around him when he's like this.
He’s insecure about how much his face reddens while crying, so he tries to hide it behind his arms or hands.
How to comfort him: Hold him, rub his back, put your chin on his shoulder, and have a box of tissues within reach. You can trace patterns or draw things on his back to distract him. Once he’s starting to calm down, he’ll try and guess what you’re drawing. Press a kiss to his head or shoulder, if you feel comfortable doing so. He’ll short circuit and maybe cry harder, but at least those tears are happy ones. Baby steps.
Satan
After doing it for so long, Satan finds it easy to disconnect from the outside world.
So yes, he does shed a few tears over his novels, but crying for himself is another thing.
Satan has to hold intense emotions back for every waking moment. When he finally lets go, there’s a lot to process.
He almost drapes himself over you, gripping the back of your shirt ’til his knuckles are white. His face presses into your nape. Loud, powerful sobs wrack his frame hard enough to make him retch.
How to comfort him: Pull him close, or into your lap, if possible. Cup the back of his head and press kisses to wherever you can reach. Rub his back, or run your hand up and down his sides. Do whatever you can to show your love, because this is likely the first time he’s ever felt taken care of.
Asmo
Finally, at least one brother has a kind of healthy relationship with his emotions.
He doesn’t announce it, but he cries regularly in the shower. Stress is bad for the skin, y’know? It’s best to get it out when you need to.
And of course he’s a pretty crier. Rosy cheeks, sniffles, soft whimpers, the works.
Possibly the only brother who seeks you out for comfort before breaking down. He knocks timidly on your door, a small voice asking to be let in. Once he’s on your bed and in your arms, he breathes out a shaky sigh. The tears start falling from there.
Asmo will bring a box of Kleenex with him. He doesn’t want to get tears on your clothes, but they also dry out his skin and that simply isn’t an option.
How to comfort him: Asmo likes soft comfort. Cradle him in your arms, pet his hair, hold his hand. Tracing hearts on his back helps him cheer up once he realizes what you’re doing. If you’re feeling bold, cup his face and wipe a tear with your thumb— that’ll earn you a smile and a sniffly “Ooh, I didn’t know you were such a romantic, MC~.”
Beel
Not usually a crier. He tears up at movies, but doesn’t cry for real life stuff… in the moment.
After a long day, when everyone’s gone to sleep, Beel lies in bed and gets it all out at once. Staring at the ceiling, he sniffles and whines as he tries to keep quiet. He doesn't really have anywhere else to go, but he doesn't want to wake Belphie. (Belphie senses something’s wrong and wakes up anyway, don’t worry. He’s always there to take care of him.)
When he stops holding back, he weeps freely, but his cries are still soft and breathy.
Doesn’t really look for comfort because he knows his brothers are also going through a lot. Beel wants to be strong for them. He doesn’t want to be a burden.
How to comfort him: Sit in his lap and let him bury his face in your shoulder. He’s aware of his strength, and still treats you like glass, but his hold is firm. He grips your shirt really tightly. Reassure him in a soft voice. Play with his hair, rub or draw patterns on his back, trace his tattoos, give him little kisses if you feel like it. He may be big, but he’s delicate. Please be tender with him.
Belphie
Like Satan, Belphie also disconnects from the outside world.
He's an angry crier, but other than that, you don't get much out of him.
When he's really upset, though, it all comes pouring out. Belphegor rarely cries, but damn, is he good at it.
As he comes to befriend you, the memory of your murder gets more and more nauseating. During naps with you, his mind occasionally drags him back to that moment.
He wakes up, pillow already soaked with tears, and sees you next to him. He throws his arms around you, his clutch desperate and suffocating ironic lmao. Belphie howls, his breathing ragged as he pulls you as close as physically possible. He chokes and stumbles on apology after apology, begging you not to leave.
How to comfort him: Hold him tightly and pet his hair. Rub his back. Remind him over and over that it’s okay, I’m alright, I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere.

Devildom Public Holidays
Summary: headcanons of a list of public holidays celebrated in the Devildom.
C/W. Suggestive in Asmo’s birthday part.
First, Devildom didn’t use the word “holiday” for their public celebrations and days off until very recently. The reason was because “holiday” came from the word “Holy Day”, which means Christian religious celebration days such as Christmas, Easter, Whitsun, etc.
However, the exchange program changed that. The Devildom now uses the term “holiday” but with much secularized meaning only. The same is applied to any holiday they adopted from the Human World.
Fixed holidays
January
January 1 - New Year Day
Two-day celebration: New Year Eve & New Year Day
The Devildom adopted this holiday from the Human World one year after the first year of the exchange program ended, per the request and desire of MC.
Celebrations are not different from the Human World. There are fireworks, parades, singing & greeting each other “Happy New Year”, etc.
February
Sadly, no day off, except weekend 😔
March
March 11 - Birthday of Lord Beelzebub, Avatar of Gluttony and Lord Belphegor, Avatar of Sloth
Three-day celebration: March 10 - March 12
Demons of Gluttony are allowed to eat more food while demons of Sloth don’t do any manual work during the celebration.
Demons usually hang the sign of Gemini ♊️ on the door(s) of their houses during the celebration.
Twin demons born during the past year are given a special demonic blessing by ministers of Three-Legged Crow god.
April
April 9 - Birthday of Lord Leviathan, Avatar of Envy
Three-day celebration: April 8 - April 10
Demons of Envy and otakus participate in demonic services in honor of Ruri-chan and other anime/manga girls.
A three-day game tournament is held in honor of Levi.
Navy parades on Devildom rivers and seas. Salutes by cannon are also performed on large ships during these occasions.
For the Navy, the celebration lasts until April 11, one more day than normal demons.
May
May 15 - Birthday of Lord Asmodeus, Avatar of Lust
Three-day celebration: May 14 - May 16
This day is dubbed by many demons of Lust as “Fuck Day” and they don’t just say, they do the deed. However, traditionally, this day is associated with freedom to express oneself and the positivity of carnal desires.
Beauty brands usually gives out discount and sale off during the celebration.
June
June 6- Devil’s Day and Birthday of Lord Lucifer, Avatar of Pride
Seven-day celebration: June 1 - June 7
Devil’s Day is considered one of the most important celebration in Devildom. It’s like a new year to its citizen.
Carnivals, fireworks, parades, cannon salutes are held many times during the celebration.
Devildom’s Classical Music Association holds a yearly musical performance and opera in honor of Lucifer on June 5, the day before his birthday.
Devildom’s Painter Association even has its members to paint a peacock and put the works in a contest to see who can paint the most beautiful peacock of the year.
Walking on the streets of Devildom, you may occasionally see demon children dressing up as chess pieces. Weird, huh.
July
Sadly, no day off, except weekend 😔
August
August 22 - Butler’s Day. Birthday of Lord Barbatos, the Royal Steward
Three-day celebration: August 21 - August 23
It’s decreed that demon nobles and others with servants allow those who serve them to take three celebration days off. The reason is because butlers, maids and others have served their masters throughout the year, without taking a day off as servants still serve their masters on other holidays.
September
September 10 - Birthday of Lord Mammon, Avatar of Greed
Three-day celebration: September 9 - 11
On this day, demons of Greed usually choose to show their generosity by buying Grimm chocolate and candy and give them to demon children.
Money lenders reduce the money their debtors have to pay a little bit today.
Many demons of Greed have the habit of keeping the first Grimm coin they made as a keepsake to remember the first time they got their hands on hard-earned money. Many of them also have the “devotion” to kiss the gold coin once a year on Mammon’s birthday, believing the act would bring them more money in the future.
In honor of Mammon, demons also don’t shoo crows away and even feeding them.
October
October 20 - Birthday of Lord Satan, Avatar of Wrath
Three-day celebration: October 19 - 21
Book discounts and sale off are frequent during the celebration.
Devildom citizens feed and play with cat, believing they will help them avoid many annoying hassles.
Demons of Wrath even let cats put their paws on their heads, believing in its soothing effect. I mean, it works on their Avatar, right?
October 31 - Birthday of Lord Diavolo, Crown Prince and future King of all Demons
Four-day celebration: October 30 - November 2
Many public celebrations with parades, fireworks, gun & cannon salutes, etc.
Demon nobles and high officials hold small balls or parties at their residences to honor Diavolo. The reason why the balls or parties are small is because most demons can’t attend too many of them during the celebration period and they must be inferior compared to the main large ball held at the Demon Lord’s Castle on Diavolo’s birthday.
November
November 1 & 2 as a part of Diavolo’s birthday celebration period as said above.
December
December 9 - Cursed Day
One day celebration
The day Solomon was born. Most demons believe Solomon to be a wicked human and the ultimate villain and/or an agent of Celestial Realm. So they take this day off to curse and insult him. Diavolo never approves this day to begin with but monarchs have to let their people have their way.
Many revenues build Solomon’s statues for this day just so demon citizens can slap, hit, punch, kick, put a curse on or spat on them. The statues are fixed by the local government in early December every year to prepare for this day again.
Diavolo had prohibited this celebration before the exchange program started because it would be offensive to Solomon in particular and repulsive to other exchange students in general. But the decree only works in the capital and surrounding areas. Many demons persist in having their way in many places.
December 25 - Christmas Day
Nine-day celebration: December 24 - January 1
The day Christ was born. But Devildom adopted the holiday without its special religious meaning.
Christmas trees, presents, Santa Claus, etc.
The reason the celebration is so long is because it coincides with end-of-the-year break.
Movable holidays
Your birthday 🎉
Your own birthday
The Seven Lords and the Royals take the day off to celebrate with you. And since all the government officials don’t work on this day, I guess it’s as good as a day off. Yay.
Other days I guess are probably off in Devildom but I currently have no headcanon or info.
King’s Day - The Demon King’s birthday
Festival of the Three-Legged Crow God
Founding Day - Commemorating the Founding of Devildom
And pretty much any other human holidays, depend on your background.

Note
Okay but also consider: After the rumbling Levi eventually gets a little softer around the edges. Like not overweight by any means but also just...softer because he isn't fighting everyday and gets to be safe (relatively at least).
Oh yes! I personally think Levi never truly loses the athletic side because he strikes me as someone who never stops training or maintaining good shape. Maybe it's my idea because both of my parents were very athletic in their youth, and with time passing, they didn't have as much free time to train, but they never lost the habit. So, I think that post-war Levi, especially since in the "bad boy cover" he seems to be in a way better shape than at the end of the manga, probably trains, not as much as he used to, but definitely keeps himself in movement. I like to imagine that perhaps he lost the extremely defined six-pack, and now he has more of a softer four-pack, and as you say, it's a bit softer at the edges. I don't know, hehehe, the idea of him picking up maybe his kids with just one arm, all together while he has a bit less defined abs, seems homely and sexy to me.
Kisses!

My take on the mischaracterisation of Jean Kirstein
The mischaracterisation of Jean Kirstein at the end of the Attack on Titan manga and the series as a whole has spread a wide discourse and controversy around this minor character. As he is not apart of the 3 main characters being Eren Jaeger, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert, Kirsteins upbringing and development has been severely left in the dark. Hajime Isayama’s widespread audience between both Asian and Western societies fail to take note of Kirstein’s character as he is not under the spotlight as much as other characters. This consists of the common belief that he should not be deemed to be a character that has had any development and continues to carry out the same ideals and linear thoughts and mindset; Kirstein’s relationship with Mikasa Ackerman and the sudden pairing of him and Pieck Finger.
Common misconceptions with Jean Kirstein are that fans are quick to assume how he has no type of character development all the way through from when he was first introduced at the first meeting with Keith Shadis as cadets to when he was last seen Post-Rumbling. What is made out to be fan’s perception in Jean’s character is the mess hall scene where a rivalry is introduced between Jaeger and Kirstein. Of course, the audience will side with Jaeger because he is the main character and has witnessed his ideals and trauma from the past few episodes. Kirstein, a mere outsider has not. Isayama intends to give a realistic view on Jaeger's goal of slaying every titan because the idea in itself sounds insane. The same idea would have been felt within other civilians of the past especially within the military, but it has never been done before; The people who have the same mindset as Kirstein have lost faith due to the everlasting duration of this massacre and deemed it not to be possible. This isn’t intended to be an attack against Jaeger, only because Kirstein does not wish to see him give his hopes up. That’s not saying Jean does not want the titans to be gone, in fact he wishes to live comfortably in the interior as a Military Police. For some reason this wish is seen as ‘selfish’ on Kirstein’s part by fans. Is it so bad that someone living amongst human eating monster's desires to live comfortably? Isayama erases the stereotype of Shonen characters desiring to be the saviour in Kirstein and even Annie Leonhart. It is not out of laziness; it is out of loss of faith and thinking rationally. This ideal does change after witnessing the mass casualties in Trost and loss of his implied to be ‘close friend’, Marco Bodt. From this, he creates a new belief for himself but still based off his old one. Kirstein believes every human deserves a chance at life whether they are an enemy or friend. This is why during the fight against Kenny’s squad, he hesitates to kill one of the members. This hesitation almost results in his and Arlert’s deaths. This should not be deemed to be an act of weakness, sentiment and empathy are the right terms to describe this. During Levi Squad’s evaluation of the battle fought, Kirstein speaks up about the idea of humans fighting humans and how it isn’t isn’t morally correct as he became a soldier to kill titans, to reduce the number of lost lives in the scarce number of humans left within the walls. Kirstein is written to be a symbol of realism which is not typically portrayed in Shonen characters as most tend to appear more driven by their environment (whilst in the moment) rather than logic, and instantly getting beaten by the antagonist or dilemma occuring. Kirstein is also shown to be showing this type of empathy during the Marley arc after witnessing Sasha Braus’ death. He ignored Floch Forester’s suggestion of throwing the culprits out of the airship as he still considered them to be children over the fact that they are enemies first. Evidence that confirms that Kirstein has changed as a person is during a conversation him and Forester hold together. “Go back to being the old Jean; Reckless, annoying and cheeky” In which Kirstein finds rude of him to say, showing that he has changed from his old self. Kirstein has drastically changed as a person from when he was a cadet to an ambassador from participating. in the “Battle of Heaven and Earth”; Fans must learn to understand this and to not only pay attention to the main character as minor characters like Kirstein also serve a purpose.
Kirstein’s relationship with Mikasa Ackerman has been a wide controversy for a while as it is hinted that Kirstein takes a small interest in Ackerman; however, this was when he was still young. The only circumstance where he serves a somewhat interest for Ackerman is during the scene in the mess hall where Ackerman walks past him. He is seen to be blushing and compliments her hair. However, this is purely just admiration, not romance. Romance requires two parties that have synchronised feelings about one another. This interaction does not mirror Kirstein’s current self as he barely even hit puberty during this period when this scene occurred. It’s inaccurate to think that someone who is 12 years old thinks and acts the same as they do when they are 19 years old. A counterargument to this is how the woman in Jean’s dream resembles Ackerman. That is correct, the woman did resemble Ackerman, however it was never confirmed that Kirstein’s spouse in said dream was Ackerman herself. If it was, isayama would have made it clear. Even so, that wasn’t the purpose behind the showing of this dream. This dream depicts how much Kirstein desires to live in a state of comfort whilst disaster is striking. Isayama was smart to display this as it shows a personal depiction of what one of the characters experiencing this war would be thinking. Kirstein’s relationship with Ackerman solely as her comrade who values her existence deeply. This is where audience’s perceptions of Kirstein start to turn to the wrong direction. Kirstein values all his comrades as well as Ackerman. Kirstein manages to keep his distance and is respectful about Ackerman’s relationship with Jaeger. Yes, it is hinted that he especially loves when a woman has long black hair from when he compliments Ackerman’s locks, a portrait he completed of a woman with black hair, and the fact that Jaeger made a comment mentioning Jean about when it was mentioned that people overseas would have dark hair. “Jean would like that.” The misconception of Ackerman marrying Kirstein at the end of the manga is the most widespread misinterpretation currently. It is not like Isayama to pair two characters all of a sudden without a longing build-up to where they admit their feelings for one another. Kirstein has always been respectful of Jaeger’s relationship with Ackerman and ensures to keep his distance; It is not like him to barge into Ackerman mourning her lost lover and sweeping her up on her feet again and taking the opportunity because “Jaeger is dead now”. The scene where he suggests to Ackerman that they must kill Jaeger is not for his own personal gain so his “competition” is gone, it was a genuine suggestion that would benefit all of humanity; This would make sense considering his nature. Isayama does not desire for us to wonder if Ackerman ended up with someone else or not because that completely misses the point of what he is trying to conclude. Even if Ackerman did supposedly move on, it was unlikely to be Kirstein as they already know each other too well and their goals and ambitions would clash constantly; it would not be a healthy relationship as Kirstein would be well aware that she still loves Jaeger. The fact that Ackerman kept the scarf till she was buried may sign that she did not move on at all because nothing can make her move on from the emotional strain Jaeger’s death had on her. Inevitably, Kirstein would not desire to be a burden to her, same as anyone else.
The fanon pairing of Kirstein and Pieck Finger is sudden and way out of character. Ever since Pieck has been introduced, there was a wide discussion of who she should be shipped with as what anime fans always do because a character not just live in peace without any love interest. Initially, a popular pairing was of her with Porco Galliard, but now that he is out of the picture; Pieck is singled-out again. Attention is brought upon Kirstein, and something drives them into shipping them together. This was not out of pure connection; PikuJean is merely based off the fact that they both meet each other standards. A Reddit user states: “Jean likes women with long black hair and Pieck likes men with beards”. Quite frankly, this sentence alone depicts how ignorant anime fans are to how relationships work because this is the only argument they have. Is that saying that you can instantly fall head over heels for someone only because they have a characteristic that you find attractive? there is a difference between being attracted to someone and loving someone. Grisha Jaeger has a beard too, why not pair him with Pieck? Kiyomi has long black hair, hey, she must be perfect for Kirstein! See how ridiculous it sounds? Another argument that PikuJean shippers have is the fact that they have each other to fill the void for their “lost lovers” since Kirstein is unable to be with Ackerman and Pieck experiencing the same with Galliard who is deceased. Does that not sound downright disrespectful on Kirstein’s part? It’s the same as with Ackerman, swooping Pieck off her feet now that her “love interest” is deceased? Kirstein is always seen as the “Plan B” in these types of situations. The only thing that is driven by the pairing of Pieck and Kirstein is convenience. There is no real connection. One of the pieces of “evidence” to this pairing is the fact that Kirstein and Pieck were working alongside each other during the Rumbling and the fact that Kirstein saved her at one point. Is that not what he is supposed to do? To make sure no one else dies. This counters with Kirstein’s objective and ideals to ensure no one else losses their life because of someone he’s known for 7 years. Isayama’s audience is extremely brainwashed from other types of media that display these romantic tropes which do not apply in such a complex story as this. Attack on Titans complexity is the reason why people are quick to misinform each other.
To conclude this, the mischaracterisation of Jean Kirstein from the Attack on Titan manga and the series as a whole has spread a wide discourse and controversy around him. This is because Hajime Isayama ensures to write his characters to be complex and not 1 dimensional which is common in minor characters of a Shonen setting. This consists of the common belief that he should not be deemed to be a character that has had any development and growth, his relationship with Mikasa Ackerman and the sudden pairing of him and Pieck Finger.

Obey me brothers: boyfriend headcanons
Gender neutral reader
Tw: A bit suggestive in Asmodeus' part?
(This is my first fan fic so don't expect it to be perfect + not proofread)
≻───── ⋆✩⋆ ───── ⋆✩⋆ ─────≺
● Lucifer
When he's working he likes to have you by his side. Dealing with his brothers is already enough, so when he's filling out papers which is probably the only alone time he gets, he likes to have you there. Your warm presence, your smile, you bring him joy by simply just existing.
Occasionally, when this happens, he'll have classical music on in the background. So sometimes, when he's in a flirty/good mood, he'll invite you to slow dance with him.
I don't think he's really into public affection, I feel like the most he'll do in public is give you a peck on the cheek.
He definitely calls you some classic pet names like prince/princess, doll, baby, babe, my love, and darling.
Sometimes when he's deep in a conversation with Diavolo, he'll slip out a "oh that reminds me of this time when me and y/n—" and then he quickly realizes his mistake.
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●
● Mammon
He's very clingy. He comes to your room a lot, sleeps in the same bed as you, and the list goes on.
I feel like he would sometimes randomly hug or kiss you, in public or when you're alone. He's probably into showing you off in public, he'd walk around with his hand around your waist, or holding your hand.
I can imagine he tries to teach you how to gamble. He will try to get you to play poker with him a lot. Despite him trying to "teach you" you win every time. I can imagine him using this as an excuse. "Listen, I just wanna win this time ya hear! It's not like I enjoy playin' with ya or anything!"
I feel like he would bring you with him whenever he has a photoshoot for a magazine or something. Whether you're taking the photo with him, or you're behind the camera, he enjoys knowing that you're there. It comforts him, and he's probably thinking about how you're probably thinking how hot he is. (Considering you're reading this you probably think that often)
For pet names, I feel like it could be the most random thing. One day it's my boy/my girl, darling, babe, and then the next day he accidentally calls you Goldie. (He's fully convinced you're jealous of Goldie btw)
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●
●Leviathan
He isn't very clingy at first, but overtime he'll become more clingy to you. Like, at first, he will be too scared to even hold your hand. So sometimes he'll randomly ask you when he finally gets enough courage to hold your hand.
PLEASE make him fully aware he means the world to you! He loves you with all his heart. Despite feeling this way, poor Levi is too scared to go past holding your hand in public. He thinks everyone will judge you guys because "you're too good for him, looks and personality wise," so whenever you get the chance PLEASE watch anime with him, read manga with him, and play video games with him. And also remind him of how much you love him, or he'll start to think you hate him :(
He would definitely go to cons in the human world with you. And with enough convincing him about how you guys won't be judged, he'll try to match with you. Whether you're matching with characters from your favorite anime/show/video game, or his, he's totally down! When getting into cosplay, if you need help he'll probably also help you, or at least try to. If he can't in the very end, he'll get Asmo to help.
When he first introduced you to Henry, he started ranting about TSL, and Henry of course. After about a good 10-20 minutes he'll freak out and apologize saying how he must have been annoying, and if you say you don't mind he'll continue to rant about it :)
For pet names, I feel like he would be very nervous with this. I feel like he mainly calls you by a shortened version of your name if you have one, or your name. But when you're doing something together like reading manga, watching anime, or playing video games he'll accidentally call you "bae" or "sweetie" without thinking. After you're done, and you go to your room around 12 or 1 AM, he'll realize that he said that and start blushing and covering his face with a pillow or something.
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●
● Satan
Since Lucifer doesn't allow Satan to have a cat, or anyone else to have a cat, Satan thought sneaking one in your room would be best. He calls it "plan cat in y/n's room because Lucifer would never break y/n's heart," in short, when Lucifer found out which was only a week after it happened, he forced you to give the cat to an adoption center.
I feel like Satan would like to read books to you. Bedtime story? You got it! Maybe you just feel like hearing an interesting story? He will definitely find a book to read to you! And not only does he read them to you, he recommends many books to you. Sometimes he comes to your room just to ask if you finished the book he gave you. If you didn't, he'll probably do that weird partner thing you do in school, you know when one of you holds one page and the other holds the other? I feel like he would be a very fast reader so he'll take his time with you, asking when you're ready to go to the next page.
He'll go to the human world to go on Cat cafe dates with you. He'll probably end up accidentally showing the cats more affection than you to you though.
He would definitely take you to a bookstore, probably for a first date too. He probably does this to see what kind of books you like, so he can recommend/lend you some in the future. If you like mangas more than novels/chapter books, he'll ask Levi what he could recommend to you, or buy you.
Since I feel like Satan is into very subtle public affection, he calls you pet names in public. Probably the same pet names as Lucifer but add "kitten" in the mix. Also, with public affection, he doesn't do it a lot, but when he does he's only holding your hand or giving you a peck on the cheek, this is mainly because while he enjoys it, he prefers your sweet moments together to be you two alone.
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●
● Asmodeus
The walking definition of public affection. He will take your hand and drag you to different clothing stores. When you try on clothes he picked for you, he'll grab your waist and literally start making out with you. Right there and then. He's the avatar of lust, and he can't help himself. Seeing you in the clothes that HE picked, makes him feel happy.
He wants to cuddle you every night. If you fall asleep before he even enters the room, he'll join you. If you're reading a book, or playing on your D.D.D, he'll lay down next to you, hug you, and lay his head on your chest and slowly fall asleep.
He will help you with your makeup. Especially if you enjoy a unique style of makeup, or you're cosplaying. He enjoys doing unique makeup looks, and he loves how good you look when he's done. He has to hold back kissing you because he doesn't wanna ruin your makeup.
He would probably bathe with you, because he claims he knows the secret to silky soft hair, or the perfect skincare routine. It's all excuses to spend alone time with him. When you're out of the bath, he'll show you his skincare routine, and have you do it with him.
He ADORES pet names! I feel like he uses Darling, My love, sweetie/my sweet/sweetie pie, hon/honey, cutie, and baby a lot. And when you guys are on a date or taking a nap together, he'll use pet names very often, and would also call you adorable in the same sentence. I feel like he would do this in public so everyone knows you're his, because he loves having a partner as beautiful as he is.
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●
● Beelzebub
He knows all the best restaurants, and brings you to them. Sometimes he occasionally accidentally eats your food or takes a big bite, but he'll apologize shortly after. He'll probably end up buying you more food but end up taking a bite again, and he eventually gives up.
He doesn't show much emotion, but I feel like when you're sad, he's completely MISERABLE. I feel like it's the same for most brothers, but everyone hides it but him. He will come up to your room with snacks, which he either ate almost all of it or all of it.
He isn't really big on public affection. I don't think he feels like he needs to hold your hand, or kiss you in public to prove he loves you. Infact, I don't think he's very touchy at all. Yeah you kiss a lot, but it's usually when you're alone.
Every time Belphie plans something with him, he invites you. He doesn't like to think you're alone.
I don't really know about pet names. I feel like if he called you a pet name like he tried pet names out before, like he probably called you 'honey' and immediately got hungry. So he either calls you by your name or a shortened version if you have one.
●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●・○・●
● Belphegor
A lot of naps. And I'm also assuming since he has a body pillow, he enjoys cuddling with you while you fall asleep together. He probably clings on to you, and buries his face into your chest.
I feel like he LOVES it when you play with his hair. Like he loses himself when you do it. He'll just be leaning on your shoulder and you'll be playing with his hair and he'll fall asleep faster than usual.
Very protective of you, but doesn't do anything about it. He gets really jealous and mad when he sees someone hitting on you, especially when everyone knows you're his. He will probably say something rude to them and drag you away at most.
I wouldn't say he's obsessed with public affection but I feel like in cafes he will lean his head on your shoulder. He would also kiss you on the cheek sometimes.
For pet names, I feel like he would use prince/princess, star, baby, babe, and of course, a shortened version of your name if you have one.

Why Erwin Smith in Season 3 and the Choice in Midnight Sun Doesn't Work.
In Season 3 (excuse me for using “seasons” to mark out the arcs, as I do mean the equivalent time in the manga, it’s just simpler since this problem is spread out between all the arcs in that season), Isayama sets up Erwin’s intense guilt over sending soldiers to their deaths for his goal of wanting to learn the truth of humanity and the titans—dspite it making no sense for him to feel like his goal is selfish, as finding out the origin of the titans is already established to be part of the goal of the Survey Corps. It’s fine for Erwin to feel guilty for making calls that lead to peoples’ deaths, but Isayama seems to write Erwin as though he is objectively in the moral wrong despite the fact that using people to fulfill his personal goal is indistinguishable from if he just took over the Survey Corps and kept doing what they already did. I suppose it might be implied that he encouraged more research about the titans which… is not a bad thing when they fight the titans. Otherwise in the rebellion arc he has Survey Corps soldiers dying for him in fights against the government, but I never got the impression that he was forcing anyone into it under orders.
It feels very out of character for Levi not to choose to save Erwin. Kenny’s line about “everyone being a slave to something” that’s referenced in the moment of that decision doesn’t work because Erwin has not been shown to have a harmful, slavish obsession, just a personal goal that he throws himself into more recently since the opportunity to achieve it has presented itself (Not to mention that Erwin is like… metres away from his goal when this choice is being made, after which point he would no longer “be a slave to it”). Not giving the serum to Erwin does not feel like a choice that Levi, the character, would make given how close he and Erwin are implied to be. Instead, it feels like Levi is making the choice as if he only knows as much about Erwin and Armin as the audience does and is making a choice that could reasonably go either way because WE know both characters roughly as much, or Armin even better than Erwin, really. The problem is that this doesn’t realistically consider Levi’s experiences with each character, which is the choice between a man he’s known for years who changed his life dramatically, who he follows loyally and holds a lot of respect and affection for, and a kid that he’s come to care for in the general way that Levi cares for all the cadets, but he’s only known for like… a year max. It feels like choosing to save Armin is forced upon Levi because Isayama wanted Erwin to die and Armin to live and get the Colossal Titan because he came up with those story beats and was going to shove his way into them somehow.
On that note: Armin is just… I would say objectively the wrong choice. Armin is a character who is shown to be clever and driven (and everyone talks about how smart he is), he’s good at deduction but he’s not a tactician or a leader. He is brought back because Isayama wanted to have him, Mikasa, and Eren once again be crucial to the story at the end of it, not because it makes sense for the Survey Corps to sacrifice their COMMANDER for a cadet who has shown to be worth something, but clearly isn’t a replacement for a man who seems to be the best leader they’ve ever had. I think the choice of Armin could be more valid if Erwin was mentoring him (though still a stretch considering there’s nothing wrong with Erwin [at least nothing worth the mercy killing that Isayama seems to be portraying not using the serum on him as] and he’s only like 35 or something), but he’s not. Armin is only really, functionally important to the Survey Corps because he is close to Eren. Also, while this is probably my least-strong argument against picking Armin, but I feel like if Isayama wanted him to be convincingly still alive at that point, he probably should’ve had Armin a bit further away from Bertholdt’s explosion. That boy isn’t just externally burnt, he should have died like… immediately.
And don’t get me wrong, I don’t even dislike Armin, nor do I think that Levi wouldn’t feel a bit of guilt for not saving him, I just hate bad writing that seems to rely so heavily on plot convenience, and I think that this point of the story is where it was really affirmed that things were going to go downhill pretty consistently (barring most of Reiner’s part at the beginning of the Marley arc, but that’s another subject).
P.S. I'm currently reading the manga for this part after having only watched the anime, so I might have more to say later, though I doubt that my opinions on these writing choices will change considering that I don't think the anime cut out SO MUCH that these choices will instead make sense.

MAPPA didn’t make the characters ugly, it’s Wit that made everyone too beautiful - Let me explain!
By far, one of the biggest complaints thrown around when season 4 part 1 of Attack on Titan first aired was how MAPPA made all the characters—especially the female characters—ugly. There’s some merit to that complaint, but not in the way most people were coming at it
Not sure if it’d been said before, but I think the only reason MAPPA’s aot looks “ugly” is because Wit went out of their way to make every too beautiful—unnaturally so
I have a case to make here and will be going over it one element at a time
Colors
Let’s first look at how each studio picks their colors. This is the most apparent in the flashback shots were MAPPA basically reanimated whole scenes in their style
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Both studios use three basic “shades” for every same-color surface
For Wit that’s the base color, a darker variation for shading, and then a highlight, used generously on the characters’ hair and faces (sometimes they add a darker shade, but not often)
MAPPA uses a base color, a darker tone for shading, but they also add cross hatching to emphasize the even darker areas, usually around the eyes and under the neck
MAPPA also very rarely use highlights—only in cases where there’s bright light to actually reflects off of the high points of a character’s face and hair
The same can also be seen in the color choices. Wit’s color palette is overall brighter. They almost never go with true black tones for things and texture that are meant to be black
Characters like Mikasa and Levi, who’re meant to have black hair, they’re given either dark gray or a shade of dark brown that looks black compared to everything around it
Tumblr media Tumblr media
MAPPA’s color choices are darker, more somber, this includes the hair colors
Another example is Armin and Annie’s hair colors. In seasons 1-3, the colors are so bright they could almost be considered yellow hair, but MAPPA tones it down, giving them more “natural” blond tones
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is applied all over, from clothes to backgrounds
Proportions
To keep things on the less complicated end, I’m dividng art styles on a scale from “realistic proportions” to “chibi” with the first being closer to the sizing and variation of a human body and the latter focusing on bigger heads and bigger eyes compared to everything else
MAPPA’s style, despite still being solidly Anime, is significantly more realistic leaning than Wit’s, which is more “cute”
Starting with the faces, Wit’s faces are less angular and more rounded. They’ve also given the characters bigger and brighter eyes, along with smaller noses and mouths—especially when the character isn’t talking
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Meanwhile, MAPPA has a more realistic approach to facial proportions, therefor, less cute
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When it comes to body proportions, it’s harder to compare all the main cast members
There's a 4-year time skip so I'll be sticking to adult characters for obvious reasons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The difference in proportions is immediately obvious. Not only are their shoulders wider compared to their heads, but their limbs are also fuller, when Wit kept them lanky. Their arms, legs, and waists feel like they have more weight to them in MAPPA’s style compared to Wit
(I would've done Annie but I couldn't find official full body art from MAPPA)
Effortlessly Gorgeous
It’s perfectly normal to have attractive anime/manga protagonists. They attract a wider audience and they’ll sell more merch if they’re pretty, handsome, or sexy
I think the main problem with Wit is that the characters are made to always look beautiful. Even at their worse: fighting titans, getting thrown off and rolling on dirt, almost dying- doesn’t matter, they’re always made to look gorgeous with glistening hair that's never out of place
This is most apparent in the characters aot presents as being the most beautiful: Mikasa and Annie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the middle of battle, their hair always falls back neatly into place. They can have dirt or blood on them but never too much. Not to mention, the lip gloss shimmer that almost every young female character in the anime has
MAPPA…
Tumblr media Tumblr media
not so much.
This is partially thanks to the cross hatching they use in shading, gives the character’s expressions a more raw appearance rather than elegantly crafted like some Hollywood film
It's not really just a matter of different art styles, it's a bunch of factors coming together that makes something less "cute" and more grown up looking
How do the styles compare to the manga?
It’s really hard to give a straight answer since Isayama’s style changes drastically over the source of 139 chapters
I’d say Wit was able to take more creative liberties with character designs and the style of the artwork simply because Isayama’s style itself wasn’t as developed/refined during the first few dozen chapters
While it’s hard to say about the colors since the manga is in black and white, any colored covers we do get are more muted, even compared to MAPPA. As for shading, Isayama goes strong on cross hatching and I think MAPPA does him justice in that regard
So when people throw a tantrum online that MAPPA made Annie and Mikasa ugly, then, yeah, sure ugly as in less polished and less baby-like, but only compared to Wit
The manga is generally more gruesome in its portryal and Wit, I feel, leaned too much into the style of the late 2000s early 2010s

I'm going to pin this post, because I want everyone to see it.
Do not, I repeat, do not ask me any more questions regarding whether or not Levi only cared about Erwin or was only fighting for Erwin, or only cared about his promise to Erwin, etc... I cannot even tell you how many times I've answered some variation of this same question, over and over and over. I'm sick of it. I can't tell you anything that you shouldn't be able to glean from simply reading the manga or watching the anime yourself.
I also can't emphasize enough that you shouldn't care or consider anything outside of canon, that includes interview answers given by Hajime Isayama. Interviews don't indicate or prove anything, as they're always answers given on the spot, and often don't accurately reflect what the author actually thinks or feels, or intends. Very often, an author can't give a fully fleshed out or accurate reply to any given question because it would spoil what they have planned, or they simply don't have it worked out yet, what they're planning. You can probably guess what I'm referring to specifically, that being Isayama saying Levi felt he had "fulfilled his duty" by being there with Erwin at the end, and this post is spurred on by the latest anonymous ask I've received. Apologies to the person who sent that ask. You seemed very polite and sincere, but I refuse to engage in this conversation again.
I don't even understand why people are so fixated on this question. Why are people so upset by some offhand answer Isayama once gave to a vague, open ended question asked years before he actually concluded the manga? Years before he knew at all what Levi's fate would even be? Why do people need constant reassurance that Levi actually cared about and was fighting for humanity when the answer is plain to see within the canon, with numerous, countless examples of such? Do they have such little faith in his character? Do they feel that insecure in their admiration of him? Because a bunch of idiot haters online constantly try to use an instant of deep compassion and humanity from Levi toward one of his friends as some sort of proof that he "doesn't care about humanity"?
I'm going to give an answer here to this question so that anyone who wants to ask me about this, again, (even though if you just scroll through my blog and search the right tags, you can no doubt find any of the dozens of posts I've made regarding this particular question), you'll have your answer, right there at the top. So please, don't send me any more asks regarding this. I'm always happy to discuss Levi and his character, and the various events involving him in canon, but not if it's just going to be people questioning again and again Levi's commitment to the Survey Corps cause, when he gave his whole life, and lost everything for it.
So here you are.
Regarding what Isayama said about Levi feeling as if he'd "fulfilled his duty" by being there with Erwin at the end, that could literally have meant anything. It doesn't remotely prove, one way or the other, how committed Levi was to saving humanity, or that Levi only cared about Erwin and nothing about saving humanity. It proves nothing but that Levi felt a fierce loyalty toward Erwin, and that he felt duty bond to him like any good soldier would their commanding officer. Levi was Erwin's right hand man. He was his most trusted confidant and friend. The man Erwin looked to for support and advice and strength. The man Erwin relied on to keep him in touch with his own humanity. By saying Levi felt he had "fulfilled his duty" or his "role" by being with Erwin at the end, all that says to me is that Levi felt he had served Erwin admirably and with honor. He stayed with his commanding officer and friend right up to the very moment of his death. He never abandoned him, or lost faith in him, despite Erwin's own admissions of weakness and self-doubt. Levi fulfilled his duty to Erwin specifically because he never left his side or stopped believing in and following him as a trusted leader, and he did right by Erwin, repaid Erwin for being that leader to him, by letting him rest.
So, let's get into why it's absurd to question whether this meant Levi only cared about that duty toward Erwin and didn't give a rats ass about humanity. I could write a hundred pages on this, there's that much evidence to the contrary.
Levi's reaction when Erwin admits to him that he cares more about finding out what's in Eren's basement than about saving humanity. Levi is horrified, and shocked, and feels a deep sense of betrayal and hurt at this revelation. He's distraught that the man he put his faith in to lead humanity to freedom and salvation has just admitted to him that he doesn't care as much about that as he does finding out what's in Eren's basement. Now, why the hell would Levi be so horrified and hurt by this revelation, if he himself didn't care about humanity, and only about serving Erwin? The answer is, he wouldn't. He wouldn't have given a shit what Erwin was fighting for if all he cared about was serving Erwin and being Erwin's loyal dog, like these idiot haters claim. He would have just shrugged and said "Okay, what next then, boss?". But, instead, he fell into a state of angry depression, gave up on trying to convince Erwin to stay behind (something he was trying to do in the first place because he believed humanity would be fucked without Erwin's guidance), felt so enraged and upset that he kicked the shit out of Eren and Jean for acting like undisciplined idiots, and went off to sit, isolated and alone, and questioning everything he'd been doing up to that point. He believed in Erwin so much in the first place because he genuinely believed Erwin was an altruistic, selfless, visionary leader who took on the great burden of leading the Survey Corps in order to save humanity. He admired Erwin for his dedication and commitment to that cause, for his ability to put aside personal feelings to do his duty, and for his great insight and intelligence and hope for a future for humanity. And he was so upset after Erwin's admission because that admission shattered that trust and belief in Erwin, and made Levi question whether he himself had made the right decision in following him. That doesn't sound like the reaction or behavior of someone who's just blindly loyal to or in love with Erwin and only cares about where he goes and what he does. Again, canon in your friend. Defer to canon.
Another point. Levi continues to serve in and fight for the Survey Corps, years after Erwin's death. If Levi really felt he had "fulfilled his duty" by being with Erwin in his last moments, and that he had nothing else to contribute or provide, then he would have simply quit the SC. But he didn't. He stayed, and continued to participate in and contribute in any way he could to their cause. He continued to fight for humanity, as the SC has always done. He continued to fight for the dream that every member that had died believed in, for them. People mistake Isayama's comment about Levi feeling directionless after Erwin's death as him meaning Levi didn't care about humanity, (which, I still don't know how you extrapolate that from his comment, but whatever), but that just shows a lack of understanding Levi's relationship with Erwin to begin with. Levi relied on Erwin to be his guiding light. He trusted in and relied on Erwin to use him to further the cause for humanity. Levi let Erwin choose how to deploy his abilities and strength, he followed Erwin's orders, because he considered Erwin infinitely more qualified than himself to determine these things. He believed in Erwin as a leader. He trusted in Erwin's judgment, in Erwin's ability to make the right choice, even if Levi himself couldn't understand or see where he was coming from at first. When Erwin died, Levi lost that guide. He lost Erwin's judgement. He lost Erwin's vision. When Isayama says Levi felt "directionless", he means Levi didn't know how he himself could contribute as effectively to the SC cause anymore, because he didn't have Erwin there to tell him how. Erwin always told Levi what to do, and Levi followed, because he trusted in Erwin's ability to see what he couldn't. But it was always, ALWAYS to serve humanity. Not to serve Erwin, but to serve the cause of humanities salvation. Without Erwin, it wasn't that Levi no longer cared about saving humanity, it was only that Levi no longer felt he had the person who could point him in the right direction and tell him what to do to attain that goal. He was on his own for the first time in this fight, and he didn't know what he could do now to advance it. He didn't know what role he could play. Again, it's not that he didn't care about humanity, or no longer cared about fighting for humanity. It's that he simply didn't know what role he was meant to play anymore in that cause. But even with that uncertainty and doubt, he kept fighting. He kept trying to do what he could. That isn't the action of a man who doesn't care about the cause. Someone who doesn't care wouldn't have kept in the fight the way Levi did. It's why he never quit fighting, even when he was half-dead from getting caught in a thunderspear explosion. Why he refused to run away, even when he was barely alive. That's also why I think it's absurd when people say Levi's choice to let Erwin die was "selfish", because Levi gave up his own feeling of placement in the world by doing so. He gave up his own comfort, his own sureness, his own sense of direction. He took on a massive burden when he let Erwin die, and he did it for Erwin's sake, because it was the humane, compassionate thing to do. That's the opposite of selfish. It's mind-blowingly selfless.
And lastly, Levi keeps fighting, even after he fulfills the vow to Erwin and his other comrades. If all Levi cared about was fulfilling the vow he made to Erwin, the vow to kill Zeke so that he could give meaning to the sacrifices of his comrades that day in Shinganshina, then he would have simply laid down afterward and done nothing to help the alliance win. But, he didn't do that. Even when Levi felt convinced that he wasn't going to be able to kill Zeke, he kept fighting in any way he could and trying to lead the alliance to victory. He came up with plans of action, he gave orders and directions to his comrades, he risked his life and nearly died to save both Jean's and Connie's lives, he helped Gabi to take out different targets with her gun, and finally, after killing Zeke, he rallied Mikasa and Pieck to not give into their grief at what was happening, and urged Mikasa on to deliver the final blow to Eren to finally end the whole damn thing. Without Levi, in that moment, Mikasa very likely could have given into despair and given up. Levi wouldn't let her. Those aren't the actions of a man who doesn't care.
Levi's inner monologue, about not regretting letting Erwin die and choosing Armin is further proof of how much he cares about the cause. He talks about Armin having the same light in his eyes as everyone else, before cynicism and doubt crept in from seeing too much horror. He talks about what they all fought for, whether it was to see people's lives trampled and their freedom stolen, or for a ridiculously idealistic world, and concludes it was for the latter, because that's the ONLY THING that would have made their sacrifices worth it. Again, these aren't the thoughts and feelings of someone who doesn't care about humanity. If all Levi cared about was Erwin and serving Erwin and fulfilling his vow to Erwin, he wouldn't have been thinking about any of those things at that point. He wouldn't have cared what his fallen comrades lost their lives for. It wouldn't have been a question at all in his mind. But instead it's the centerpiece of Levi's character in the final arc.
And then, Levi's salute to his fallen comrades in the end, and the first and only time we see him cry, because what they fought for has finally been achieved. A world without titans, and thus, a world where they could be free. Levi salutes them and cries because it meant that much to him, fulfilling the goal they all fought for, ensuring they didn't die in vain. Again, that isn't the reaction of a man who didn't care about the fight for humanity.
I really don't know what else to say. Again, canon in your friend. Levi's actions speak louder than any words. If you're having some sort of doubt as to how committed Levi was to the cause for humanity because of a bunch of brainless bleating from online haters, then simply do yourself a favor and go back and read the manga or watch the anime, and all your fears will be assuaged.
And that's all I'm going to say on this particular subject. If you want to know my thoughts, well, here you are. I hope it's an extensive and thorough enough answer, because it's the only one you're going to be getting from now on. If not, just go back through my blog and search, because I've talked about this innumerable times before as well.

Do you think we'll get a no name wife in bad boy ? I saw it on twitter and idkkkk seems veryyyy unlikely and off brand for isayama but i wanted to know ur opinion too
god no.
this same question was asked before the manga ended funnily enough, which goes to show how contentious of a question it is, and all the more likely that yams won't answer it. this is the same man who completely tore apart the uprising arc for the anime bc manga readers weren't happy with it for an assortment of reasons. isayama also got flack for YEARS since 2013 and continues to over the infamous "what is levi's romantic type?" question.
isayama is known for being a daring/controversial storyteller as we all know, but i think there's a limit. such as when he admitted he wanted to write eren and mikasa kiss at the end of the clash of the titans arc (i'll find that source if anyone wants...) but he was "too shy".
aside from historia's thing with Farmer (which i strongly hesitate to call that a romantic relationship, but that's off topic), isayama is great at writing deep relationships, not necessarily romance, but romance included. the one Canon™️ indisputable without a doubt ship - so not counting Hinted ones, or even Strongly Hinted ones - is eremika, and the energy isayama poured into them goes FAR beyond what a single chapter could do.
all that to say, giving levi Unnamed Spouse would have to speak to the same meaning as historia's Farmer. considering the latter was shown as way more of a transactional situation, it would be insanely bad writing.
isayama also doesn't do fan service hardly ever, but also, i've never seen that as a demand from the levi fans. lastly, the conflict Unnamed Spouse would sew would be... bad.
from a different standpoint, i don't think it would fit in with levi's character at all. ESPECIALLY an unnamed character?? no way. and no offense to levi, but no one he knows or had chemistry with from season 1 is still alive... even if yams wanted to somehow flesh out a character perhaps levi knew from his childhood, bad boy is only one chapter, so it would feel forced imo
there's a nonzero chance, but i don't see that happening.

A/n: When I watched the recent episode of aot as a manga reader I thought I would be fine. But no, I cried for hours. And on top of that my Levi phase is back? I am having a great time here. Anyways, the title is inspired by Granite by Sleep Token
Warnings: death, pain, sorrow, angst with some fluff at the end I guess? I don't know but there are MANGA SPOILERS
Pairing: Levi x Erwin's younger sister! reader
Tumblr media
The first time he saw you was when Erwin bursted inside your room. The three other cadetes you were sharing a room with were sleeping, just like you were at the moment. But Erwin didn’t care, he ordered them to go out and wait.
“Do you even understand the danger you are in?” Erwin had pulled the covers from your head and began lecturing you.
You weren’t supposed to join the Survey Corps but the stories told and promises Erwin had made were a bit too endearing. So after finally completing your training you joined the Survey Corps at the age of twenty. That decision had led you to the situation you were in when Levi first saw you.
He had been following a way too eager Hange who was constantly mumbling over how excited she was to finally meet you, Erwin’s younger sister. You were supposed to be in their team after all. On the other hand, he was just tired, hoping that at least for once he could get some rest. So when he walked in the room to find Erwin complaining, he leaned against the doorframe, rolling his eyes. With an expression that was beyond bored, he looked at you getting out of bed to greet Hange, completely ignoring your brother.
When you reached out your hand to him, he mumbled his name. He pitied you. So full of life, a few years younger than him, ready to dedicate your heart to a cause. Really, had you even considered the danger?
The second time he saw you was the day after meeting you. You were already conducting experiments on titans with Hange. He had just dropped by to see how things were going since Erwin was a bit too busy with paperwork to drop by himself. Seeing your curious expression and your cheerfulness was what made him make a promise to himself. It was a simple promise really: he would never, ever, get close to you. In his eyes you were just another person to grieve in case something went wrong.
Was it because you were Erwin’s sister or because you were in Hange’s team? He didn’t know but from then on he kept seeing you every day. Be it in the hallways, Erwin’s office, the dining room… everywhere.
But that wasn’t the problem. If we were to be honest, it was your fault really. At least that was what Levi kept telling himself. You would greet him, sometimes attempt to start a conversation with him, smile at him… Why? Had he done something wrong to you? If so, then he should immediately apologise so he could go on with his day without having to see your bratty face everywhere.
And then he began responding to your greetings, trying to continue the conversation you had started. He had made you tea once. It was purely because you had a long night ahead of you, having to deal with paperwork and he had just so happened to pass by your office. Yes! He had just happened to be there. He definitely hadn’t searched for you everywhere after not seeing you anywhere. No, that wasn’t the case at all.
The years passed and the two of you developed a somewhat friendly relationship. But nothing lasts forever.
Erwin’s death… the first few days he had grieved the loss of his friend alone but as time went on he began wondering: where were you? Were you coping alright? That was how he began finding himself in your office and later your own room every single night. Sometimes Hange would be there, sometimes not; being the new commander wasn’t an easy task.
At first you were quiet, still grieving and too tired to tell him to leave you alone. Slowly you started talking, expressing your thoughts and feelings but things never went back to how they were, not that there was something before that. Conversations with Levi had been short and to the point, strictly about work matters. Nothing more, nothing less. That was all. But now… they were more philosophical. It was clear that the two of you were trying to keep your mind off the pain.
And for a short period of time you were getting better.
But then shit went down with Eren.
It was a miracle that no one had sent you to be executed as Erwin’s sister. They had locked you in with the rest of Levi’s team. After that, things happened pretty fast and the next thing you knew, Levi was lying unconscious in front of you. From then on it was a matter of routine. You would contribute to everything that had to be done in the morning and during the night you would stay by his side.
You didn’t know why you were doing it. But after a few nights you realised that maybe it was the way he had made grieving less painful. Though, eventually you figured out it went way before that: it had been that bored expression on his face… but you still weren’t sure. No matter the case you found yourself taking care of him but as soon as he woke up, you tried to keep your distance, thinking that for some stupid reason his possible death wouldn’t hurt you.
And then Hange died. None of you said a word. You didn’t even have the time to process it, you had to go to battle.
And somehow the two of you survived. Maybe it was because of the unbearable pain from which you wanted to escape but you came to the conclusion that it was destiny, that even you meeting him hadn’t been a coincidence.
So when he reached the port, accompanied by Falco, Onyankopon and Gabi, you ran towards him. The man, now sitting on a wheelchair, signalled to the rest to leave the two of you alone.
If you were to ask him now how he ended up opening a tea shop, getting in a relationship and finally living in peace, he wouldn’t know what to tell you. However, there is a huge possibility that his answer would be that it was destiny and that you were more than just somebody he was destined to simply meet.

shingeki no kyojin fic recs: hange zoë edition
in no particular order, here are some fics about hange zoë i’ve enjoyed reading. most of them are canonverse oneshots, ranging from 1k to 4k words in length, with an equal distribution of genfic and relationship-focused fic.
this list was compiled in Aug/Sep 2022, and I admittedly don’t keep up with snk fic often now, so anyone’s welcome to add self-recs or other recs in reblogs that you’ve enjoyed.
gen, pre-canon, missing scenes
Downriver by Lady_Bluebird (Levi & Hange | Gen | M rating | 1.2k) Hange patches Levi up in the woods after Zeke’s attack on him. M rated for graphic descriptions of violence and injury (it’s otherwise platonic, and centred on their professional relationship). a gritty, realistic look at their situation on the eve of the Rumbling.
knock down drag out by Senri (Levi & Hange | Gen | T rating | 1.6k) post-Wall Maria, Levi and Hange have a confrontation about Levi’s decision to give the serum to Armin. an excellent missing scene that builds on mere hints of Hange’s ambivalence about their involuntary promotion to Commander in canon to give them the airtime they deserve. we get to see exactly why and how being Commander’s a poisoned chalice for Hange, not to mention Hange’s resentment over the serum affair and Erwin’s death. Hange’s a principled person, but has their rough spots too; this fic showcases that well with nuance.
Zugzwang by Minos_forlorn (Pieck & Hange | Gen | G rating | 1.3k) Hange plays a game of chess with Pieck, while she’s captured and under their care in Paradis. a great look at these two connecting with each other outside of the circumstances within the manga, with good character insight into both of them.
Hanji's Notebook by lightningwaltz (Gen | T Rating | 4k) a pre-canon look at hange’s backstory, told through excerpts from their notebook/journal. it’s written in first person POV, but don’t let that faze you: this fic nails Hange’s idiosyncratic but reflective thought process, which is an impressive feat. the worldbuilding & deeper scythe into the lives of the Survey Corps’s members is wonderful too!
relationship-focused fics
Acceptable Cost by gogollescent (Erwin/Hange | Other | T rating | 1.5k) a short fic centred around a birthday celebration for Erwin, that offers a peek into Hange’s wonderful camaraderie with their comrades, and Hange’s life + outlook in the Survey Corps before the start of the manga. the characterisation is wonderfully sharp and insightful. although it’s tagged Erwin/Hange, imo this can pass as Gen until the last few sections.
alike by soapyheels (Hange/Pieck | Other | T rating | 2k) short and well-written bittersweet look at Pieck’s post-canon situation as she reflects on some Rumbling interactions with Hange, featuring a deeper conversation than what we got in canon. beyond Hange’s role, I really liked the notes about Pieck’s inner conflict, and how Pieck was able to build bridges with an enemy commander, and the hopeful note this ended on.
Lose the Ballads by Anonymous (Hange/Petra, Other | T rating | 1k) Petra can carry her own weight and whatever the Corps has to throw at her, including Hanji Zoë. a short fic charting Petra’s first meeting with Hange and a subsequent (implied) relationship. excellent Hange voice and characterisation, with sharp and resonant prose too; I’m in love with the version of Hange presented here, whirlwind-like but principled and with hidden depths.
And debauchee of dew by tselinoyarsk (snowlikeash) (Hange/Petra, F/F | T rating | 1k) Hanji learns not to just drink any little thing on Petra's drafting desk, else she be preyed upon. a short but fun interaction between petra and hange, featuring fun dialogue.
to end this off:
for my recs, please pretend I’m holding up a big stadium sign for all these saying “THIS FIC IS REALLY GOOD!!! you should be reading it!!” most of these fics are from criminally underrated authors, so the usual bromide applies: if you enjoy any of them, consider leaving kudos or a comment!

I’m starting to form a theory of how The Owl House introduces characters. I’ve seen a lot of people point out the dichotomy between Hunter’s introduction here and how he’s characterized later in the series. Similar complaints of a first appearance making a character seem more unsavory in their first appearance have been levied against other characters as well, usually to claim that fans shouldn’t be so quick to view them as good people and how they need to make up for their previous villainous deeds. But here’s the thing, this dichotomy is interpreted by the audience as a sign of the characters’ duplicity, not the writers. Meanwhile, I am very much convinced that the characters being more villainous in their first appearances is a writer choice first and foremost, and a choice with a purpose.
It all comes down to how I described how a lot of characters on this show are introduced: villainously. Many recurring characters in this show are introduced as “villain of the episode” characters, even when they are intended to become allies at the end. Eda and King consider possibly eating Luz and then treat her like family ever since (King even jokes about this in the season one finale), Amity tries to get Luz dissected in her first appearance and ends up a love interest, Bump tries to do the dissecting and is shown to be a reasonable authority figure, Edric and Emira plan to bully and publically humiliate their sister but are incredibly supportive and helpful with her schoolwork, Hunter is fully supporting the Emperor’s reign and becomes an ally, and no doubt the ending of ‘Any Sport in a Storm’, another episode people complain about, will match the pattern. What I’m getting at is that The Owl House has a pattern where a character’s introduction will rarely give us much useful info on them, merely presenting a simplified version of the character that can serve as an obstacle first and it’s only after that obstacle role is played out that their characterization gets more room. It's function before consistency.
In reference to a mega hit series that does this same thing, I’ve taken to calling this characterization trope the Jojo Phenomenon. The manga and anime Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure had a pattern where the main character (the Jojo) will collect many colorful allies, but not before beating them in a fight, and the fights happen because the future allies will act as villains in their first appearances due to outside influences or misunderstandings, changing their manner to be much more friendly and righteous after they join the heroes’ group. Sometimes the difference is so stark that the character seems to change personalities entirely.
Now, as to why JJBA does this, it’s for the purpose of misdirecting the audience, subverting expectations, if you will. Any even slightly story savvy reader or viewer will guess that, since most stories need supportive casts, some of the people the main character meets will become their supportive cast. When the supportive cast is presented as villains first, the viewer won’t guess the character’s role the instant they’re introduced. The most effective subversion of expectations is to build up your own story’s expectations and subvert those. This way your audience doesn’t need to be familiar with specific other works to get their expectations subverted.

talking about random stuff yay
Okay so let's talk about literally anything other than that unhinged anon because they clearly crave attention and I genuinely cannot be arsed to deal with their nonsense anymore. Take your fandom wank elsewhere, you bellend 😂
Anyways. I have an idea for another piece for the 'It's A Wrap' Universe asdkflfjsa I'm excited to write it! I also would like to write something specific for Levi's birthday considering it's in less than a week (omg!) but considering I'm currently trying to finish my application to transfer unis before Christmas, that may not happen LOL. Maybe I'll get a little ficlet out, who knows.
Also, before I went on an unexpected hiatus in November, I was reading the AOT manga in the lead up to the finale - and I think I'm going to resume and finish my reread before watching the finale because I'm delulu and am prolonging the end of the anime adaptation 😂 I mean, the dub is dropping in January and the Bad Boy chapter comes out in spring, so there's still time, right?? 😅😂 After that I'll probably pick up Before the Fall as well and give that a whirl. I'll inevitably reread No Regrets and Lost Girls as well lol. I've been torn on whether or not I should pick up JJK too after S2, but perhaps I should spare myself the pain lol.
Next year I'm hoping to write more - maybe rewrite the first three chapters of The Harbinger's Premonition because I got writers block for it and haven't updated since last year (I am so sorry), that's a tentative maybe, though. I'd like to finish Love's Philosophy (a collection of ficlets based on a kisses prompt list) and crosspost that onto here, maybe start a similar project of a collection of ficlets based on another prompt list, because the prompts are so much fun, as a low stakes writing exercise. Alsooo we'll see if I can get any longer form Levi x Reader/OC projects off the ground next year because I have an OC one currently being planned ever so slowly and several vague ideas for Reader ones.
I've also been toying with the idea of writing Twenty Five Twenty One fanfic - specifically about Seungwan, because it's no secret that I'm incredibly disappointed at what the writers did to her in the ending and I'd love to do a fix-it fic for her. Some might hate the AOT ending but for me, Seungwan's ending is MY villain origin story LMAO. Not sure who else cares, but 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

the ackerman clan and the garden assassins syndicate: soldiers that equal a hundred military troops
aot and sxf manga spoilers!
“the ackermans weren’t hated by the monarchy, they feared us.”
“if the guards are really from the garden, then this isn’t going to be easy.”
“mikasa ackerman?! it is said that only by herself, she equals a hundred troops! she’s a valuable asset in the military.”
“are you kidding me? they aren’t some random yahoos. they say just one of the garden’s soldiers can wipe out an entire military troop!”
urban legends: they are considered a myth in stories that are told.
the reactions stirred when they are mentioned. one soldier from their organizations are able to take out/be equivalent to an entire military troop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
their strongest soldiers: yor briar forger and mikasa ackerman.
mikasa and yor, will go through death lengths to protect their loved ones. yor had become a member of the assassins syndicate to protect her little brother, yuri. mikasa had joined the survey corps to protect eren and armin. the two had joined their respective groups to protect the only family they had left.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the veterans: levi ackerman and matthew mcmahon.
these two have been in the game much longer as told. levi is the last experienced veteran of the former survey corps to survive until the end. not much is known about matthew’s backstory however, but levi and matthew have been in this game far much longer. the two are experienced soldiers, with matthew being an implied one with old ideals. their ideals is to fight for their country, to fight for the survival of humanity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the big bosses: kenny ackerman and shopkeeper.
the shopkeeper is known for heading the underground assassin organization, training yor (and possibly other assassins) to become contract killers for the world’s sake of a better place. kenny ackerman is the last ackerman in the family to know of the old history of the ackermans because of his grandfather. kenny’s grandfather on his deathbed told the reason why the clan had been persecuted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
those affiliated: the reiss royal family and the gretcher crime family.
the gretcher family (who were the former bosses in the underworld) had been strongly implied to be associated with the garden without any direct appearance. the shopkeeper had stated that he had owed a personal debt to the former boss of the gretcher family, and in order to repay it, he had send yor to guard olka and her son (the last remainders of the family) as the two escape the country.
the fritz/reiss royal family on the contrary, had the ackerman clan as the royal family’s right hand. they were a bloodline of warriors that protected eldia and it’s monarch. other than ymir fritz’s nine titans, the ackerman clan were said to be “titans in human form,” accidental experiments of the former eldian empire. the clan had endured the survival of eldians, but had turned their back on the 145th king’s ideals due to him wanting to erase the citizen’s memories with the founding titan.

hi! do you have any unpopular snk opinions?
Depends what counts as unpopular.
First one that comes to mind is that from what I see many either think Mikasa is the worst female character with no redeeming qualities or she's the best female character ever, girlboss with no competition. I think she's not the worst by far, I like her, but she without a doubt doesn't have that much going for her other than "she fights well" and "she likes Eren". She does overall carry herself better than some other female characters who revolve around men (coughsakurahinatafairytailchicksorihimecough) and she has compassion for people other than Eren. Her character developed whenever she was away from Eren. But Isayama tended to come back to status quo. Think about that moment how in the Reiss cave, Mikasa went to save Historia first instead of Eren. First season Mikasa wouldn't have done that. And yet, afterwards when they were in the farm Mikasa came between Historia and Eren when they were talking, all yandere like. It just seemed regressive even if it's a small scene. He could have wrote a small follow-up scene between Mikasa and Historia instead, to show she is opening up to other people.
Another would be that I think a lot of people don't understand Levi's character at all. I saw many saying Levi was acting out of character the whole war arc because he was so obsessed with the promise to Erwin. I mean his attachment to Erwin and him having a weak spot had been foreshadowed in the manga since the Female titan arc. I know anime deleted some scenes foreshadowing it so maybe that's one of the reasons, but I also feel many people simply prefer Levi as everyone's guy who doesn't play favorites. Team Dad and whatnot. That's another thing, he's not the dad of anyone.
Many don't get Historia's character either. They think Eren was manipulating her, when that scene was similar to how Ymir chastised Historia for trying to be a good girl Krista. Eren did care about Historia and appreciated what she had done for him, regardless of how you see their relationship. It's crazy people think Isayama would write all those scenes only to go "actually Eren doesn't give a shit about that blonde slut" as some hardcore haters put it.
Eren's ending plan/plot twist was ooc and didn't fit the rest of his character, but considering how divided the fandom is when it comes to the ending it's hard to say whether this is an unpopular opinion or not.
I would say Isayama reducing Ymir, Reiner and Sasha's characters to jokes in the end was headache inducing but I think many agree with that (except the people who pretend everything about the ending was great).
