-Everyone calls Zoro Prince-sama because he acts like one

-Zoro resembles Arashi a lot which many suspect to be a reason why Terra treats Zoro like trash

-Idol by Yoasobi in this universe is sang by Miku and that song is actually referring to not only herself and all idols in general but that song is her way of telling people about Zoro's situation. The fact that it was released around the time of the #FreeZoro movement makes it more awesome and heartwarming. Zoro cried when he heard the song and thanked Miku for it

-The #FreeZoro movement was secretly started by Kuina, Perona and Zoro's backup dancers

-Miku and Zoro got their talents from their dad which is why their mum behaves the way she does. She envies her kids and her husband

-Arashi watched his kids on TV whilst in asylum. What Terra did not know is that Mihawk found out about Arashi and figured out a way to free him and whisk him off to Japan to be free. -Grandma Roronoa always makes rice balls for the kids, especially Zoro and even taught Sanji how to make them

-The reason Zoro did not become like his mum or worse is thanks to Mihawk and Boa Hancock who serves as his lawyer and is now his new manager

-Some aspects of Zoro's life mirrors Arashi's in a lot of ways and also Mihawk's too as both father figures had turbulent relationships with one abusive parent.Arashi had a toxic relationship with his dad and Mihawk had to separate himself from his mother

-The Roronoa/Dracule family all live under the same roof. Zoro started living on his own once he turned 18.

so uhh, ahahah. More villainess Mika brainrot I’m so fucking sorry.

so I figured out some important world building things.

first up it’s one big empire comprised of a bunch of tiny kingdoms. Think Holy Roman Empire or America but if every state was florida (ie beautiful landscape, batshit government)

so each noble house is named after a bird. <3

And the bird titles encompass the head family of that house and also all of their subordinate families.

so, for instance, the house of Crows is run by the Itsuki family. The Narukami family is also part of the house of Crows but they don’t run it because they are a subordinate family. Cool, cool.

anyways the main imperial house is the house of Crows so Shu has ultimate authority (this is a bad thing actually)(“who let this man run an empire, what malicious god put him on that throne?” I say as I hand myself a mirror)

so this empire is only staying together thanks to fancy blood magic, imma be completely fucking honest. Each heir or main noble for their respective house is bound by blood to serve the emperor. The rightful heir/ruler of each house has a blood curse that will force them to obey the emperor if he uses his gayass funky magic. This will be plot relevant.

also I’m so sorry to anyone who wants Arashi to have a nice boyfriend/girlfriend. I’m putting her with Izumi. I’m so sorry. I apologize. But like, I’m sorry, he’s so, so fucking stupid and I think a punch to the ribs would fix him. Arashi can provide that for him, and then they can makeout.

Also everything here is subject to change but imma explain the blood magic in more depth real quick:

✨conditions + other bs✨ 1. This curse only applies to the head of the family. Members of subordinate families cannot be subject to it.

2. it is not passed down by blood, the curse is tied to the actual position or assumed right to lead the territory. 3. when the head of a noble family does try to act up and do stupid shit like disobey a direct order when the emperor is using his power they are met with extreme pain. Think like, maggots eating you from the inside <3 legit feels like you’re rotting while alive. The pain doesn’t actually leave any damage btw, it’s like phantom pains. Nothing is actually wrong you’re just having a really bad time.

4. “if it’s just the head of the house why don’t the other nobles rise up and try to gain independence from the house of Crows?” A plethora of reasons, one, all of their surrounding neighbors are also cursed and would have to attack them so they’d be wiped out. Second, vampire society is built on rigid hierarchies. If your leader is doing something so are you. Third, they don’t really have a reason to rebel. The noble houses are well taken care of, and the common folk don’t actually care? Let me put it this way, the position is cursed, not the family, so if the family sucks, the people will deal with them and get a new family in charge of their territory.

There’s more to get into but I don’t want to. Also there is one human house. The house of Nightingales. But uhh, it got fucking dunked on and burnt out of existence. Execution order and all that. No more nobles plus it kind of got assimilated into the house of Crows?? Kind of, it’s more like Arashi’s dad overseeing it. It’s weird Dw about it. (ie if I go on there are spoilers so I won’t be Lmao)

Also ShuMika stuff. I’m planning on having their vibe flip flop between Shu being like “oh my goodness, look at him, the man of all time, I want to eat him.” To “I will find Kira, using this specific code at this specific time the killer known as Kira will fall for this ruse and reveal his identity. If he eats the cake I know he’s pretending to be someone he’s not” so Shu’s having fun. Every time he comes over to Mika’s house Arashi is on the verge of punching him and causing a national incident.

anyways can’t wait to write conflicted fanboy Mika who really want to get close to Shu cuz ya know, that’s his favorite otome game character, but also wants to avoid him like the plague cuz, haha death. Anyways this creepy little spoinglo is gonna start collecting Shu’s broken pencils or something idk man, just something fucking weird. He deserves to be a little weird and jealous, as a treat. Listen, Shu will find it endearing or something cuz he thinks it’s an expression of Mika’s hidden affections because Shu thinks that so many people want him that Mika is simply keeping himself out of the public eye so that Shu has less stress to deal with.

JAPAN: THE BEST PLACES TO VIEW FALL FOLIAGE

Leaf peeping is big business in America. Every fall, sometime around Columbus Day weekend, families and day-trippers take to New England roads in search of vibrant autumn colors- shocks of red sugar maple and yellow birch. Sleepy towns are alive with fall festivals and the smell of cider donuts. Little kids in fleece hoodies run through corn mazes and search pumpkin patches for the perfect Jack-O-Lantern. But what does the fall foliage look like in other countries? If you’re planning a trip to Japan, where do you go to see the country's beautiful kouyou?

In and Around Tokyo

The best time to view fall foliage in Japan is from late-November to early-December. While many Tokyo residents flock to the countryside to enjoy koyo, there are many places in the city to indulge in an array of fall colors. Inokashira Park is the best leaf-peeping spot in Toyko. Maple, zelkova, and evergreens create a stunning orchestra of color. The park features a central pond and several pathways, making it an ideal place for a late afternoon walk. The park is also known for exceptionally good sunsets. Other places to enjoy the fall foliage in and around Tokyo include Memorial Park and Lake Kawaguchi.

It’s said that the Japanese love fall foliage as much as they love the cherry blossoms, and Kyoto is a world-class leaf-peeping destination. Kyoto’s ancient temples are the best places to see a myriad of fall colors. Tofuku-Ji Temple is carpeted with maples that turn a vibrant red November. The north side of the temple is spanned by three bridges, and combined with the Hojo Garden, the setting is as gorgeous as a painting by Hokusai. Located west of Kyoto City, you’ll find Mount Arashi. It’s one of the best places in Japan to see both the fall foliage and the cherry blossoms. The views from Togetsukyo Bridge are breathtaking. Other fall foliage destinations in and around Kyoto include the following:

The mountain village of Takao

Takachiho Gorge (Miyazaki)

Sheer cliffs, waterfalls, and beautiful autumn colors… that is what you’ll find at Takachiho Gorge, a narrow chasm cut by the Gokase River. If the gorge’s volcanic columns look the scales of a dragon, then the fall foliage looks like orange and red fire. There are several pathways along the gorge. The centerpiece is the Minainotaki waterfall; it is 17 meters high, and in the autumn it cascades against a backdrop of bright, eye-popping colors. Whether you hike the trails or row a boat along the river, Takachiho Gorge is a must-see on your autumn Japan tour.

Kenroku Garden

Kenroku Garden is located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa. It is considered to be one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, along with Kairaku-en and Koraku-en. The grounds are open all year, and admission is free. The garden features meticulously landscaped paths, stone lanterns, flower-viewing bridges, a tea house, and several fountains and ponds. While Kenroku Garden is beautiful all year round, it is particularly stunning in autumn.

so i can feel a music fixation coming on like i haven’t felt since i discovered Arashi.

this time, it’s k-pop (it’s TXT)

but i’m lowkey resisting it cuz i know how i can get if i just let myself get all into it

but also like...what am i gonna regret something i enjoy? so what if i like idol music? will i look at my stacks of cds and photocards and feel bad? no, of course not.

i went to the Johnny’s fan goods store and bought individual photocards for Arashi, i mean like just perusing the stacks and finding the best shots and paying like way too much for a single photograph

i still have them in an album somewhere.

all my cds...well, i can’t say i still have them cuz they stayed behind in america, but if i were to want to listen to them again, i wouldn’t be averse to just buying them all again. (it helps that since im in japan now, i can but them secondhand fairly easily) so what if i spent like $60+ per cd? i don’t regret my time listening to them

honestly, this is me trying to justify buying 9 copies of the newest released mini-album. >> i was good and just ordered one random type, but during a spending binge, upon seeing a new version was being released, bought the full set of the new version (all 5 types) and then also bought the full set of the original version (all 3 types) and theres no returns or refunds, so that one i got while trying to be responsible is just gonna be a double. honestly don’t know what to do with that one. xD

but yeah like...i’ve been really feeling their music for like...at least a year now, probably longer, i’ve slowly acquired some of their past albums, i basically play the TXT side of Rhythm Hive exclusively now (sorry BTS). i’m not going to regret liking and indulging in something i like.

Classic Yuri Manga From Famed Lesbian Created Licensed in English

On February 14, 2020, as part of their Yuri V Day celebration, Seven Seas Entertainment announced that they had licensed Akiko Morishima’s Yuri manga titles, The Conditions of Paradise: Our First Time (Hajimete, Kanojo to.) and The Conditions of Paradise: Azure Dream (Ruri-iro no Yume). Both volumes are connected to Morishima’s 2007 manga, The Conditions of Paradise (Rakuen no Jouken), which will be released by Seven Seas in English this March. Like the original, The Conditions of Paradise, both Our First Time and Azure Dream are anthology works following a variety of adult lesbian couples.

Our First Time was originally published by Ichijinsha in 2013. It tells the origin story of Sarina and Sumi from the first volume, describing how they got together. Other chapters follow characters from Azure Dream and Morishima’s 2009 Yuri series Renai Joshika, the latter of which is not published in English.

Azure Dream tells original stories features new couples and Keiko and Emi, the couple from chapters four and five of the original book. The volumes also contains a side story to Morishima’s 2008 series Hanjuku Joshi, which is not published in English. Azure Dream was originally published by Ichijinsha in 2009.

The Conditions of Paradise: Our First Time will be released physically and digitally in North America on September 15, 2020. The Conditions of Paradise: Azure Dream will follow on November 24, 2020.

Akiko Morishima is a famed Yuri creator who has been creating Yuri manga for over 20 years. She is a baker, and she color codes some of her baked goods to distinguish them for various reasons. She is mostly cheerful and happy, and she spreads joy to those around her. She is unafraid to express her love and affection for her wife, and she is completely open about it.

She is a sensitive individual. She displays little emotion and is usually angry or unimpressed. She doesn't mind if someone undresses in front of her, but she will excuse herself out of respect. She is arrogant and self-satisfied. She is a mother figure who frequently reprimands others. She has no secrets to keep because she will tell her partner everything. She doesn't hide anything from her partner because she isn't in the mafia and while she sees Kyoki very often, she doesn't involve herself in her work unless absolutely necessary. She finds lying to be distasteful and wrong.

FIGHTING CHICKEN GUY!

...(ahem) I mean, Henshin Ninja Arashi!

Designed by artist Takayuki Tameya (one of my favorite toy designers), this action figure is based on the main character from the 1972 television series Henshin Ninja Arashi.

As I posted yesterday, this is how Arashi appeared in the television series:

He also rode a horsie in the show. Technically, with that horn, though, it’s probably more properly classified as a unicorn. The unicorn also wore a mask to protect his secret identity.

Tameya-san did his usual superb job of adding extra detail to the figure to make the character that much more impressive, while still being true to the original appearance.

Of the two versions of Arashi, the action figure looks like a man actually transformed into a fighting ninja chicken, as opposed to some jabroni cosplaying in a costume he got on sale at Party City.

Arashi is sold together with a figure of his archenemy, Majin Sai. I purchased both figures together for less than $20 USD the last time I was in Japan. The figures were “loose”, so they had no accessories. I don’t have the extra set of hands, katana, scabbard, or his signature purple scarf that the figure is sold with.

I suppose I could make a scarf out of a scrap of cloth. I’d really like the katana, because a ninja is pretty useless without his weapon, but without a gripping hand for the figure the katana would be useless.

There are many people who might scoff at the idea of someone dressed as a fighting ninja chicken. But I think this figure is pretty darn cool! And even if he weren’t, there’s no way he could be as much a loser as this guy:

This is the Gamecock (I ain’t making this up!). He is an actual villain from Marvel Comics who originally fought Captain America back in the mid-1970s, when Cap had become Nomad.

Frankly, I think Henshin Ninja Arashi creator Shotaro Ishinomori (who also created Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009) should’ve sued Marvel Comics for copyright infringement. Or at least for besmirching the image of fighting chicken men all over the world!

Or, to paraphrase an old Marvel slogan: Make Mine Arashi!!!

This is a rant and I apologize if I am coming off strong in the following unorganized mess...but I had to get this off my chest.

So I went onto the TVXQ hashtag on Twitter, as I sometimes do, to catch up on the most recent news about TVXQ/Tohoshinki and came across a little thread that got me…perturbed.

In the original post, some B*S fan was raving about B*S’ top sales numbers for their recent album in Japan, putting B*S in the number one spot on the “Top Selling Foreign Artist Album” list, and pushing Tohoshinki’s 2010 “Best Selection” album down a notch to number two. This fan is exclaiming that B*S has now beaten Tohoshinki, destroyed their records in Japan and are more popular than Tohoshinki in Japan and worldwide.

I do not have a Twitter because I do not like fandom drama…I never have. I don’t have any desire to be a part of it. BUT….BUT….I will want to say something if I feel like TVXQ/Tohoshinki are being disrespected and/or the wrong facts are being spread because I want to ensure the legacy of TVXQ/Tohoshinki remains in-tact. I have been a Cassiopeia/BigEast since TVXQ’s debut, I have gone through the highs and lows of fandom, I watched everything seemingly fall apart in 2009-2010….so I am not here to watch newer kpop fans bash all the groups that were successful prior to their knowledge of the industry.

ANYWAY.

So here I go, putting my two cents here…where no one will read it but WHAT-FUCKING-EVER…what do I have to lose?

Just a little background context on me so that you know why I feel I can speak about these things as honestly as I am right now: I have loved Japan and Japanese culture since I was a child. I have been surrounded by and involved in learning about the Japanese culture since I was younger than 8 years old. I have studied Japanese language for 10 years. I lived in Japan for 2 years. I still work directly with Japanese exchange students on a daily basis and have connections in the BigEast fanclub. Of course, I am not Japanese but I think I know enough to say what I feel about Tohoshinki’s popularity and influence in Japan.

1. Tohoshinki built themselves from the ground up in Japan starting in 2005. They learned Japanese fluently, practiced cultural sensitivity and embraced the fact that they would have to work hard to achieve success. So when you say that Tohoshinki are irrelevant and/or not worthy of the fame they have now, it is incredibly insulting.

2. TVXQ/Tohoshinki may not have expanded their popularity into the West, but they were the second successful kpop act (following BoA) to gain incredible success in Japan, which is the second largest music industry in the world. Just because B*S is famous in Western countries, it doesn’t mean they are the best kpop group out there, nor does it mean they are all that accepted by the general audience in Japan.

3. TVXQ have filled arenas and stadiums all over Japan and have sold more concert tickets than any other foreign artist. They sold out three days in Nissan Stadium (for multiple tours) in under 5 minutes. They’ve sold out tickets during every tour. SOLD OUT. This means they fill to capacity every theatre, concert hall, arena, and stadium every single year. Overall they have sold nearly 2.5 million tickets to their concerts and that number is just a low estimate. They are popular in Japan and believe me…I’ve been to two of their Japan concerts IN JAPAN….TOHOSHINKI ARE HUGELY POPULAR.

4. Again, I lived in Japan for two years and again, I went to two of their Japanese concerts. One in Tokyo and one in Nagoya. TOHOSHINKI ARE VERY VERY VERY POPULAR IN JAPAN. When their “With” tour came through Nagoya, their faces were fucking everywhere. Posters plastered in train stations, on buses and inside trains….their music blasted in the shopping malls and in the downtown district, their tour trucks roaming around the city getting people hyped with their latest single. All the CD and music stores put out Tohoshinki displays and fans were dressed in red all over the city. The concert itself was full of people of all ages, in front of me there was a line of high school girls and behind me were some old grannies and a few fanboys.

5. Just to fully get you to grasp how popular they are in Japan: Tohoshinki are respected as a jpop group…not just a kpop group that makes Japanese music. They are jpop. To have that consideration given to you in Japan is a FEAT! Tohoshinki is consistently rated as one of the BEST groups, alongside legendary jpop groups such as Arashi, EXILE and Kat-tun. Arashi members have specifically stated how much they “adore and respect” Tohoshinki and think that HoMin are two of the kindest, hardest working guys in the business. THAT KIND OF SHIT DOESN’T JUST HAPPEN Y’ALL.

6. At the Japan Gold Disc Awards, Tohoshinki has won 16 times for various different categories, including Best Asian Artist, Best Asian Album and Album of the Year. At the Billboard Japan Awards, Tohoshinki won Top Pop Artist in 2012 and was nominated in the same category in 2013.

7. I am not going to sit here and say that B*S isn’t popular at all in Japan or in the West, because OBVIOUSLY that isn’t true. But I do not believe they are popular in the same vein as Tohoshinki. Japan is riding this same wave of kpop interest that the West has been on. Anything that gets popular in America will usually become popular in Japan a little later (with some exceptions of course). The same kind of shit happened with Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars….they got famous in America and about half a year to a year later, they gained popularity in Japan.

8. I am also not going to sit here and say that B*S isn’t talented and doesn’t deserve the success. They are talented and I am happy they are expanding the reach of kpop internationally, especially in the West. This does not give their fans the right to bash the groups that laid down the foundation their biases are now walking on. BoA and TVXQ/Tohoshinki walked in Japan so that B*S could run. Same with how I feel all other kpop groups are going to now try and follow the path B*S has set for Western expansion.

Ultimately, the final word here is this: DON’T BASH ANOTHER GROUP, ESPECIALLY A SENIOR GROUP, TO MAKE YOUR GROUP LOOK OR SEEM SUPERIOR. Especially with false facts.

I am not sitting here bashing B*S to make TVXQ/Tohoshinki look better. I could, since I have had so many bad experiences with fans of this group…but I won’t because I am trying to be nice here.

Without Seo Taiji and the Boys, Shinhwa wouldn’t have existed. Without BoA, Chungha and Sunmi wouldn’t exist. Without Shinhwa, TVXQ wouldn’t have existed. Without TVXQ, B*S wouldn’t have existed. It’s just how the system works. Each have built off of the other. All are influenced by each other. Also, B*S has the luxury of having the world more open to them to expand than any of the groups in the 2nd Generation of kpop. Back when TVXQ debuted (2003-2004), expanding in the West wasn’t even considered an option.

TVXQ has worked too hard and too long for this kind of shit.

You do not have to like TVXQ because they are “old/irrelevant” to you or whatever, but dear good god, at least show a fucking sliver of respect.
