Dissonance - Chapter 19: Revenge Best Served
Zeke found himself humming softly to himself in the kitchen. A cookbook he borrowed from Satan was propped open in front of him. It was his turn to make dinner and he was attempting Babylon Curry. So far following the recipes and some minor assistance from one of the brothers had served him well enough to make it through cooking duties. He even found that he enjoyed cooking for the brothers, who always praised him for making the Devildom dishes well despite never using the ingredients before.
Beel and Belphie were sitting at the island counter - Belphie with his head down napping, and Beel munching on a large pile of snacks. Zeke had learned quickly that if he wanted to actually cook he had to make a lot of easy snacks to occupy the Avatar of Gluttony or risk losing all his ingredients before he could cook them. With Beel preoccupied he could let his mind wander a bit as he prepared the curry.
Following the incident in Lilith’s replica room he had noticed several things. First and foremost, the twins who had already been fairly attached to him, were even more so now. It wasn’t just Belphie sneaking into his bed almost every night, now Beel was doing it too. If he wasn’t in his bed, they would join him in Levi’s room for games and anime, in the library while he and Satan studied, or they would look at stars together in the planetarium - whichever activity Zeke was doing that night. Beel and Belphie were his near constant companions when they weren’t in separate classes or he wasn’t with another of the brothers. Zeke found himself attending Beel’s fangol practices, supporting him from the bleachers, usually with a sleeping Belphie using his lap as a pillow.
It wasn’t just the twins, though. Asmo somehow became even clingier than before. The Avatar of Lust was always touching him when they were together, even if it was just linking their arms. Mammon invited him out to watch his modeling shoots, and Zeke went to be supportive - it seemed fair since he was showing his support to Beel’s sports practices, plus he was genuinely impressed and proud of the Avatar of Greed. All of the brothers were devastatingly handsome, but Mammon was an actual model and seemed to take it seriously and he knew there were few things that the demon actually took seriously.
The café outings with Satan were almost a daily occurrence now, and sometimes Solomon would also tag along. Zeke enjoyed spending time with them both. Even when they weren’t having a full-on lesson, Solomon always seemed to be teaching him something. Zeke still preferred his solo not-dates with Satan, though.
Levi bombarded him with texts about games and anime that they should enjoy together, and Zeke spent more nights in Levi’s room hanging out with the otaku than in his own room sleeping. Sometimes the twins dragged him back to his own bed so that Belphie could coax Zeke to sleep magically, but sometimes they simply cuddled up in a bean bag right there in Levi’s room to doze off together.
His evening visits with Lucifer changed as well, with the eldest actually stopping work to ask him about his day and engaging in full conversations. Zeke could tell that the firstborn truly enjoyed hearing about whatever he had gotten up to with the other brothers each day - even if they had just been studying or reading. Sometimes Lucifer would put a record on, one that was safe for him to listen to, since most of them were dangerously cursed.
Life in the Devildom became more comfortable and appealing by the day. He had never really missed the human world before, but now he almost hated when he was reminded of it. Zeke would one day, not terribly far from now, have to return to that place. He would be alone again, and now that he had experienced what it was like to be accepted and loved he knew that familiar loneliness would be utterly unbearable.
Zeke felt like a whole new person since coming to live in the House of Lamentation, and desperately did not want to lose these new feelings. Despite the visions being a horrific experience, the aftermath left him with a renewed sense of purpose. The outpouring of support from his demon hosts had been overwhelmingly therapeutic. A lifetime of feeling unwanted couldn’t simply be erased, but for the first time he felt like he was actually healing.
The hole in his heart, once filled with a barely contained storm of rage at the world, was channeled into a much more productive, well-controlled furnace of smoldering embers, ready to forge the way to his own desired form of justice. He could attribute that in large part to Belphie and Satan.
He thought the idea of destroying another human being’s life would make him more squeamish, but surprisingly he felt almost nothing but a soft, preening satisfaction as they researched and made their plans. Satan and Belphie seemed to be enjoying their scheming together with him, both in general and because they were the ones helping him with this momentous task. It also meant they both got to spend even more time with him, which seemed to be something all of the brothers coveted, so they got to gloat even more over that.
Now instead of mystery novels, Satan and Zeke spent their free time pouring over books on advanced curses and torture methods. Zeke learned a lot about various interrogation techniques, both ancient and modern over the weeks following the incident in Lilith’s replica room. Satan was vastly knowledgeable on both curses and torture, and Zeke found it was all rather fascinating. It was a convenient excuse to spend more time with the blond demon.
The other brothers seemed various degrees of concerned or curious about these developments, but thankfully made no comment on their current reading choices. Even Lucifer seemed to leave it well enough alone, even though he had to have at least some idea of what they were planning. Lucifer had seemed reluctant to give his brothers information on the man that had caused the deaths of Zeke’s family. Did he simply not care now that Zeke was involved in the retribution? Was his silence and inaction a signal of his approval?
Whatever the case, Zeke was mostly just glad that Lucifer was not trying to dissuade him or get in his way. The same went for the others. None of them were trying to stop him or talk him out of whatever he was up to, but only Satan and Belphie were actively helping him. More than once he wondered if the other would assist in his plan if he asked, but decided against it. He wanted to be the one orchestrating this particular tragedy.
Zeke didn’t want too many cooks in the kitchen and all that. An apt metaphor given his current task.
It did occur to him that his therapists would have a field day if they knew he was actively plotting the ruination of a living, breathing human being. They had lectured him endlessly about finding forgiveness for people that he perceived had wronged him. Of course that was years ago now. He had learned to lie very well. Zeke knew better than to mention that he stilled burned with resentment and hatred when he thought of that man walking free and enjoying his life without an ounce of remorse…
“Shit!” Zeke yelped as the knife he’d been using to cut the vegetables a little too aggressively slipped and cut his finger. The two demons were beside him in almost an instant.
“That looks deep.” Belphie frowned while Beel grabbed a hand towel and took Zeke’s hand, putting pressure on the cut, which had begun dripping blood.
“I smell human blood.” Satan mused with a scowl as he entered the kitchen, a stack of file folders tucked under his arm.
“Guess dinner has extra flavoring tonight.” Zeke joked, gesturing with his free hand to the one Beel was still holding. “Knife slipped, I let myself get distracted.”
“And angry. I could feel it as I was coming down the hall.” Satan sighed, setting the folders down and walking over to take Zeke’s hand from Beel, humming as he looked over the wound. “It’s a pretty nasty cut.”
“I’ll be more careful.” Zeke sighed, before he recited a healing incantation that he’d studied on his own. The cut slowly closed and he flexed his fingers experimentally. “Not a big deal, see?”
“Hm. You’re improving very fast. I’m impressed.” Satan smiled as he wiped the blood from Zeke’s hand. “Let me help with dinner. I wanted to talk to you anyway.”
The twins had still been hovering, but Zeke shooed them away, so they shuffled back to their seats, still watching carefully, as if afraid he might hurt himself again if they took their eyes off him. He rolled his eyes.
“Well I’ll let you handle the rest of the cutting, I guess. Honestly there isn’t a lot left to do. What did you want to talk about?” Zeke had an idea and was practically buzzing with anticipation as he measured spices to stir into the curry pot.
“My contacts in the human world sent me all the information I could want.” Satan inclined his head towards the folders. “Some of my many acquaintances were able to dig up everything you asked for on the target. We’ve researched all the necessary curses, and gathered all the reagents we need. I have to say, your plan is positively diabolical. If I didn’t know better I’d have thought a demon came up with it.”
“I honestly thought you’d need more help coming up with ways to torment this guy, but we barely had to do anything.” Belphie added, looking very smug.
“Why thank you, I’m pretty proud of myself. I probably shouldn’t be, but I don’t care. When can we start the next phase?” Zeke was physically bouncing as he turned to Satan, eyes sparkling with a sinister glee. Twenty years he had held this grudge, and at long last he could practically taste his revenge. He did not care if that made him a bad person, or even an evil person, he figured he was going to Hell anyway, might as well give a real good reason for his eventual eternal punishment.
“We can start tonight.” Satan smirked, his eyes flashing with a matching delight at the idea of beginning their little game.

This is from avatar biblie:
The relationship between Aang and Katara is the emotional heart of the show.
From the moment Aang wakes up in Katara's arm, he is smitten. However, each time Aang displays affection towards Katara, disaster erupts. If Aang takes Katara on private glider flight past a waterfall, they get soaked; and Aang's gifts of flowers cause Katara to sneeze for days. Katara appreciates Aang's gestures, but is not interested in romance. She dotes on him more like a kid she baby-sits rather than a potential love interest. Whatever the reason, Aang loves Katara's attention.
Then why Bryke say Kataang is planned from the beginning if in the Biblie don’t happen that romance?
In the "series bible" Iroh was a twist villain that wanted to ruin Zuko's life. Katara was meant to have a crush on Toph, who was going to be a boy - that ALSO didn't happen. Azula was going to be a boy and older than Zuko. Aang was originally designed as an adult, and was gonna have a robot with him instead of an animal companion. Original ideas are changed/scrapped all the time when writers are starting to plan a story, which is a looooooooong process.
And while there are simmilarities between the first episode and what you just sent me, you can ALSO see differences like the whole "giving Katara flowers that make her sneeze", which did not happen in the show. Meanwhile "their dynamic is the heart of the story" full on states how much these two characters mean to each other, and WAS carried over to the actual show
In the fourth episode of book 1 we see Katara jealous that Aang is focusing only on the attention he gets from the girls of Kyoshi Island. In episode 14 we first see her first consider Aang as a real potential romantic partner. By the start of season 2, SHE suggests that they kiss on the Cave of Two Lovers.
Ember Island Players, the episode that pokes fun at a lot of the stuff about the show, including scrapped ideas (like Toph being a buff dude), it has the whole "Katara thinks of Aang as a little brother" be discussed, with Katara herself telling Aang "I never said that" when he asks her if that's true.
Aang and Katara being interested in each other and eventually getting together WAS planned very early on. Meanwhile Bryke has repeatedly stated they did NOT at all expect anyone to ship Zutara, let alone for it to be so popular.
Just by watching the first episode one could easily guess that Katara and Aang would be endgame. That is early planning, no matter how much Zutarians try to pretend it isn't.

I've been thinking so much about act 3 and how rushed the ending feels. I know the whole point is for everything to get really intense at the end - but for me it felt super rough to just have 4 hours worth of straight fighting for your life followed by 20 min of your companions leaving you with no discussion. (Thoughts and proposed different ending below the cut)
I think act 1 and 2 finished so strong. We all love the tiefling party and the conversations you can have with everyone at camp. It's relaxed, it's closure to that part of the game. You have a chance to shenanigans and fun.
Act 2 ending felt like less of a slog, and a lot of interesting ways to pace it out. You have the first phase of Kethric's battle (along with all the juicy dialogue options there) and then you decend into the pit, and there are a couple battles or conversations, there is the juicy bit with Zevlor and the other people in the pod, saving Mizora - amid all of this, there are different things happening and there is the lovely pacing as you discover more information about the people of the world and your companions. There is Balthezar's area with the different minds and the resonance stone, there is the brain puzzle and the mind flayer relief statue, things are still moving but you have time to breathe and digest this new information and the horrors committed at moonrise. THEN there is the neat animation when you catch up with Kethric, the response of your companions to Gortash and Orin, all culminating in a cool fight against Kethric/Myrkul's avatar. And then even more info from your guardian!
But the end of act 3 is just so so so so rushed. Depending on the route you choose Lae'zel just LEAVES? We just saved the day and you're my friend and now you're leaving? Yes you should go fight for your people but can we like. Have one last camp night? Can we have a drink first?
So I propose a new ending; one last camp, one last party, after some of those fun cutscenes. But I think this exhausted crew just needs to eat and party for a moment before launching into the next thing. They've been going so hard for so long, let them rest! Let them have a night to finally digest what it means that most of them will be going their separate ways!
The final camp could even be something in a half demolished pub or tavern. It could have your companions, all hanging out, who you can challenge to drinking games with constitution saving throws, or even playing a game of lance board. You should have an option for a friendly ending scene with the characters you didn't romance for a final night to be besties. Talking about feelings or doing related friend activities specific to them. Talking to the allies you've gathered along the way and those that survived the fight. Then, after you've enjoyed everything there is to enjoy, you click on a bedroll and the notification comes up that says something like "going to sleep will finish your adventure. Are you ready?"
THEN the cutscene with your lover, if applicable. Would love best friend options too. I think it would help the splitting of the party feel more intentional and less rushed, along with giving a way to break up the ending cutscene where you go through all your companions and their futures rapid fire.
What would you want to see at the tavern party?

💞- Which character do you relate to the most?
💥- A big a opinion you have related to the Tangled movie/series?
Whoa doggy that's a lot and I'm so pumped to answer them all!!!!
Fav Tangled Char?
I mean Hector is like number one because he's just such a cool character with so much to him that was unexplored. I also adore Adira because she's just such a queen. I'll give a special shout out to Ruthless Ruth because she is awesome as well and her song is amazing.
Least Fav Char?
I'd have to say Willow. To my defense, it's because I have a sister like her and seeing how she acted in the episode just drove me nuts. She does have a good moment at the end, but overall I just have a personal dislike for her.
Moonstone or Sundrop?
Gotta go with Moonstone. I'm more of a moon person anyways, but again it's so unexplored and has so much we don't know about it. It intrigues me so.
Fav Season?
Season 2 for sure. I liked that it had more wacky adventures and of course Hector and Adira. I also liked to see how Raps and Cass started to become distant (although it was sad to me) and how that unfolded.
Something you wish had happened in the series?
Broken record here but just more Brotherhood stuff! Seeing them interact? Or just more about the Dark Kingdom in general. I hated that they introduced this whole other kingdom and didn't give us much about them at all! I also wished they would have given us some better maps of the whole continent with all the kingdoms. I love stuff like that!
Another Show you'd like to see have a cross over with Tangled?
Oooh this is a hard one...I've been re-watching Avatar the Last Airbender and that would be a great crossover to me.
#1 Animal companion?
I love the bearcats and rhino, but Pascal has always had my heart from the movie. I'd say he's my number one, then the bearcats and rhino.
Fav AU?
I have a few favs, but my top ones are where Hector takes Varian in after Quirin is encased in the amber and the one where Varian is encased instead of Quirin and Quirin has a dark streak.
Character you think should have interacted at all or more?
The big one for me was more Brotherhood interactions!!!! I would have loved to see Adira and Hector talk to Quirin. Another I've always wanted to see is what Hector would have thought about Andrew and his cause with the Saporians. I feel they have a lot of similarities.
Would you marry anyone in the Tangled world?
I mean I am completely happily married currently haha, but I'd have to say probably Adira or Lance. As much as I love Hector, he's got A LOT of baggage and emotional stuff going on (as do I XD). I don't think we'd be that compatible or good for one another.
Fav Char outfit?
I really liked Raps dress in season 3. I've always found it super cute and I love the neck line area (whatever that's called). A special shout out to her coronation dress, because that was just a beautiful piece of work!
Least fav char outfit?
I've never liked Eugene's outfit in Before Happily Ever After (he also wears it a few times in season 2 I believe). It was just so plain to me and I feel they could have done a little more with it.
Random Tangled Headcanon you have?
I had one about the Brotherhood all knowing how to pick locks and still really stand by it haha. One I recently came up with is when Cass has Adira and Hector with the Mindtrap that she would try and get them to do as she said without using it as like a power move over them.
Movie or series?
I gotta say the movie. It's been my fav Disney film since it came out and was the first Disney movie to make me cry (other than when I was like really little).
Favorite Tangled Fanfic?
Ooh there are so many! I do love your Incarnate fic its pretty good. I'll admit I haven't read a lot of TTS fics. I can think of a few Brotherhood fics but I cannot find where they are. If you want them I can dig deeper and find them, but at the moment I can't find them.
When did you join the fandom?
I started watching TTS in the winter of 2021. I was super late into the fandom sadly. I still wish I had been there in the beginning to be there for everything. Admittedly, I remember when this show was first coming out, but I was working full time and in school so it was low on my list of priorities and eventually forgotten.
Which char do you relate to the most?
The two that really come to mind are Lance and King Fredric. Lance, because I have the urges to talk myself up (like he did with Adira baha), but also his desire to have a family. King Fredric is a char I know gets a lot of hate, but I really connected with him at the end of season 1 when he feels like a failure for losing Raps as a baby. I really felt that as a parent myself that sometimes we want to make certain decisions that are very harsh, but come from a place of genuine fear and concern for those we love. Its a very real thing that can be a big obstacle to overcome. Maybe I am too soft hearted about it, but that really struck a chord with me.
A big opinion you have related to the Tangle movie/series?
Cass should have had a whole extra season with the Moonstone and exploring it's powers. Also for her to really show her emotions and how she felt about her treatment. She wasn't mean enough in my opinion.

I was gonna drop this on an SMRPG post because everyone loves Geno and his vibe, but I got too off the point so im making mt own post.
Anyway, I gotta say I'm happy I wasn't the only one who was like "yes. Puppet vibes. Creepy and otherwise. All puppet vibes are good vibes" as a kid (and adult). Because it's just such a fun aesthetic. It can cross into so many other things too, like a creepy dolls, necromancy, mind control, mastermind type villains, blood magic (looking squarely at Avatar).
This is why I made all that warlock content in G&D about puppets. The pact, the patron, the invocations, the whole thing. I just felt like a warlock deserved to have the option to be that creepy puppet guy that walks around with a cloaked companion that turns out to be some kind of creepy mannequin puppet.
Some of my earliest exposure to anime was shaman King and the character of Johannes Faust (which is a little on the nose now that I know) was just such a cool and creepy puppeteer sort of necromancer character (at least that's how I remember them). A lot of what I've written about necromancy and such was based on those vibes. Also they were voiced by Sam Regal, so that.
Anyway. Yeah. Creepy puppets are back in style now. I've decided. And so is necromancy.

Dainese "valentino Replica 09" Leather Gloves
It's a floral that by some means reads heat, ambery, and slightly spicy. It's pretty, comforting, and all-around beautiful. wikipedia handbags This Intense version is amplified by jasmine and moss, giving it a floral-forward, glassy, nearly crystalized feel. The following month she introduced a silver cup, which went to the staff from the Soviet Union who received gold in all five boat courses, on the women's 1963 European Rowing Championships held in Khimki near Moscow. By February 1964, Tereshkova was pregnant when she visited Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom who was also pregnant on the time. Except for a few-months break that yr, Tereshkova went on a continuous and exhausting world tour, returning to her public duties only two months after the delivery of her daughter. Very slightly thicker heel than KP’s, but it’s exhausting to inform. Annie and Kaitlyn Pan don’t sell size 8 shoes although, as size eight is a half measurement (39.5 CN) in China. You can tell IMMEDIATELY after putting them on that they are not snug — I feel like I’m putting my toes into foot-shaped plastic cups. Not versatile and never very comfortable, and definitely synthetic. Most comfy, however not a lot distinction from Annie’s. It is her constant companion and her, style quotient. And, talk about Valentino’s handbags and totes, she is overwhelmed by the deluge of selections she has. However, these needs to own one die slowly when price tags loom giant. By 1976, Tereshkova was a colonel within the Soviet Air Forces. In April 1977, she earned a doctorate in aeronautical engineering and underwent the medical examinations to qualify for spaceflight when selection of a new class of women cosmonauts was introduced in 1978. Although she didn't go to area again, she remained an teacher on the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center. At the highest, you will find davana, an herb with an earthy, woody aroma. It takes floral, green, fruity, and herbaceous notes and puts all of them together in a method that one way or the other makes them all work in excellent concord. It's hedonistic in that it is just a lot of every little thing, however Lake & Skye proves that too much of an excellent factor can typically be simply sufficient. Every replica hand bag incorporates two open compartments, an open flat pocket within the inside and, a zipper pocket. It looks like I'm within the film FernGully, or on the planet Pandora from Avatar. My pop culture references may be subpar, however this fragrance is high tier. Coffee is a criminally underused note in perfume, in my opinion. I love every scent primarily based around espresso, and this one could be my favourite. It doesn’t odor actually like coffee, nevertheless it doesn’t make it a secret, both. However, it doesn’t put on overly heavy, as the name would possibly lead you to believe. In this capacity, she supported the introduction of amendments to the preamble of Constitution of Russia, to add that "Orthodoxy is the premise of Russia's national and cultural identification". For a relatively stronger scent, Ralph Lauren’s Polo Cologne Intense is your winner. It’s shy of $75 during Sephora’s sale and is an elegant mix of cooling sage and earthy notes. Let’s reduce to the chase — whenever you see Prada for $75, you run. The Luna Rossa Ocean is a balanced blend of woodsy and citrus that any man in your record will love. And, it contains the much-loved vetiver scent that’s popular in most candles. A concoction that’ll have you ever dreaming of summer season, Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue perfume is inspired by the sun-drenched Sicilian mandarin , encapsulated by freshness and makes a fantastic less-than-$100 reward.

I imagine having Fang run into your arms was a lot easier when he was small.
[id: four illustrated drawings. Top two show a young Roku with his arms forward as he calls out to Fang. The next shows a baby Fang running into Roku's arms as he kneels on the ground. Both look happy. The bottom two images depict similar events with Roku now in his 70's calling out to Fang. However, in the images next to it only fang's muzzle is seen grinning as he slams straight into Roku, lifting him off the ground. Both figures are blurred. /end id]

A Case for Rexsoka
Tumblr media
I’ve been around the block when it comes to ships. I’ve seen people obsess over them, and I too have been driven mad by obsession. I was a hardcore original avatar fan and I was OBSESSED with shipping Toph and Sokka together. Any time they so much as made an interaction I over analyzed it and picked it apart looking for clues that somehow would prove that my hunches were correct. It was because I related with both characters, and I loved their chemistry. I wanted them to have a romantic relationship because it would feel like some sort of personal validation.
I’m an adult now and nothing has changed. But it has been a while since I’ve desperately shipped two characters together that are not obviously romantically involved with one another, or who could be romantic behind the scenes or beyond the story shown.
Until Rex and Ahsoka.
And I’ve seen people be adamantly against it.
“No no no it’s just a brother/sister relationship.”
“No it’s gross she is a child”.
And of course being disagreed with on the internet can drive a person crazy, and instead of individually arguing with dozens of people online, I’m making this post once and for all to explain why I think Rex and Ahsoka have romantic feelings for each other. Especially Rex.
The argument I’ve seen, that their deep passion, commitment, love, admiration, and respect for one another (which are all so obvious you’d have to be...silly to not see it) are felt in a platonic fashion. Which, for the first 6 seasons and 8 episodes, I would totally agree.
But then Ahsoka comes back. And let’s face it. She is a woman. Age wise, she’s around 17, but everything from the maturity of her Lekku (which weirdly don’t get all that longer, especially compared to other Tagrutan women) to her poise and confidence, to her prowess as a warrior, a user of the force, and her ability to command soldiers as well as control her emotions points to her being an adult woman. She’s no Snips anymore; she’s no child. She’s grown up. And how her peers react to her illustrates how they now view her as an adult.
Tumblr media
First there is Obi-wan. Obi-wan has always been a mentor to her, a sort of second Master. Obi-wan never hesitated to guide and Ahsoka or offer his council. He is proud of her when she succeeds, and will admonish her when she makes mistakes. When she returns and he sees her as a woman, he changes the way he treats her. He acknowledges her maturity by addressing her as an equal. He doesn’t admonish her. Instead he discusses with her, challenging her ideas and letting her offer an argument for them instead of putting them down and telling her how she should think or act. He also comes to her in his time of need, trusting her to help him with Anakin.
Tumblr media
Then there is Anakin. We all know of Anisoka shippers, and they are perfectly able to ship and enjoy said ship, but we can all acknowledge that it is a crack pairing with no basis in the canon. Anakin portrays the perfect kind of brotherly love. He is excited to see Ahsoka, and is stunned by her unexpected reappearance. Things are harder for Anakin because he is used to their fun banter and sibling-like companionship. He’s constantly shut down with her business like manner and he struggles with coming to terms with the fact that she isn’t a little kid sister anymore. She is an adult with a mission and a plan. When he looks at her, he is endearing. He loves her. Admires her. And he can’t wait to pick up where they left off. There’s joy and adoration in his face. He is proud of her and what she has become, but he also feels alienated and even hurt because of how her adulthood has changed their dynamic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then there is Rex. When he first sees her, he wants nothing more than to reassure her that she still belongs. The clones had accepted her into their family. As far as they were concerned, she was one of them. When he looks at her for the first time, he’s beaming with the same adoration as he had had for her before, but also with a solemn awe at what she has become and what she has grown into. He welcomes her back into his life without hesitation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then there is a moment things shift so drastically that I paused the show and re-watched it half a dozen times. We all know it and love it. This face he gives Ahsoka. The Look.
Tumblr media
What we see here is something we have never, EVER seen in Rex for 7 whole seasons. And it is my opinion that this is the first time Rex has been able to feel and express that he is attracted to Ahsoka. In other words, Rex has a sexual awakening.
Up until this point, Rex has been a sexless character. Nothing he does is flirtatious, sexy, or at all suggestive that he has those feelings inside him at all. Every sexual being has a moment where they are first animalistically drawn to another being. Characters who have already had this moment are easy to pick out. Obi wan. Anakin. Ventress. These characters have already experienced their sexual awakening. Ahsoka has too. Lux was her first object of attraction.
But Rex has never had this moment. Until this reaction.
I know some of you might be thinking “but Ahsoka gives a very similar look to Anakin, does that mean she is sexually attracted to HIM?” It’s a very good point. Ahsoka and Anakin share some cheeky playful looks during “Old Friends Not Forgotten”. We see many characters give similar looks to other characters, but does this mean it means the same thing as when Rex does it? The short answer is no.
Tumblr media
When animators design a character, they establish the “range of emotion” for that character. You can easily see this when you look back at how many times you see Rex break from his stoic, captain’s face. He rarely laughs, smiles, or emotes in any way. This is why when we see him emote it is exciting to us as an audience. A character like Ahsoka or Anakin commonly show a wide variety of expressions. Ahsoka is much more likely to give a cheeky look than Rex is. So “the look” for Rex, means a lot more when he is doing than it does when another character does it, say Fives or even Obi-Wan.
Which means the writers are trying to tell us something about this moment.
This moment has changed Rex’s and Ahsoka’s relationship.
Now does this mean that they are going to go bang each other immediately? Does this mean the second they are alone after “Victory and Death” they start an intense, sexual relationship? Of course not. That’s not what this ship is about at this time. But the reason many of us ship it is because suddenly they don’t feel like brother and sister anymore. It isn’t entirely platonic. And the show does a good job to further emphasize this as they come closer and closer both emotionally, and physically during the finale.
Blocking is a huge factor in visual storytelling. During the finale, Rex and Ahsoka are blocked in a way that makes them as close as physically possible on the screen. This communicates to the audience that they are closer now than they have ever been. As Jedi and Clone Trooper. As friends, and as companions, their bond forged in the fires of war, struggling to find meaning in life as soldiers.
Tumblr media
In contrast, look how Ahsoka and Anakin are blocked in their scenes. There is nearly always a gap between them, illustrating that they are distanced from each other emotionally. Rex is even visually inserted into the gap between them in several instances. Anakin and Ahsoka are growing apart, but she and Rex are growing closer.
Tumblr media
We get to experience Rex and Ahsoka engaging in actions and conversations that we had rarely seen before. From casual banter, to moments of intense intimacy, to emotional peaks, Rex and Ahsoka interact more in these four episodes than in the previous six seasons. Part of this is because their maturity gap has closed. Ahsoka is finally Rex’s equal in experience and maturity. It is also in part because it is a unique dynamic. No Obi-wan. No Anakin. Rex and Ahsoka are equal leaders of the 332nd. There’s also the fact that they are put into life threatening situations and have no one else but each other.
But there is that “look” that is given at the beginning of all this that suggests something else, that as their bond undoubtedly becomes strong as beskar, there is an element of it that takes their relationship from the platonic to the romantic.
I feel every detail, moment, and piece of dialogue in the finale tells the story of this bond.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Many instances of their strong emotional bond have been spread throughout the internet, with most ready to acknowledge that they have a connection unlike any other, one that may even be described as a “force” connection. These last four episodes are so exciting because we see two friends reunited, but then we get to watch as their relationship transforms.
Tumblr media
Even disregarding their implied attraction to each other physically, they dive into each other and hold on tight. Ahsoka shares deep personal worries with Rex, and Rex and her are shown opening up to each other in ways they have never opened up before.
Tumblr media
We were all floored and dumbfounded at scenes such as these that show these characters at their most vulnerable. But they decide to be vulnerable together. Is it because they are all that is left of their 501st family? It part, this is definitely true. But by being this vulnerable they transform their relationship into something very different from what they had before. It will never be the same again, and it will be near impossible to back out of the emotional intimacy that these two have participated in. Once you have formed that kind of an attachment with someone, there is no going back, and as is seen in rebels, these two maintain that strong connection even after years of being apart.
This goes beyond their sexual desires or needs. They’ve forged a bond that cannot be broken. They have shared minds, shared pain and agony that only the other can understand. They’ve been isolated from the world, and all they have left is each other.
Tumblr media
And at the end of the series, when we have Rex and Ahsoka broken, their world flip upside down and everything they ever valued or cared about lies in ruins before them, the idea that they still have each other is that beautiful seed of hope Star Wars is so good at preserving. Those of us who believe that their relationship could be romantic want good things for Rex and Ahsoka. We want them to have that love and share it with each other. Maybe only for a few moments, but having known it would be better than both of them living and dying without having that experience.
Tumblr media
When we see the two in Rebels, for me it confirms that these two love each other deeply. But their lives can never be lived in a normal fashion. They cannot even be together as partners in life. The Empire has stolen this from them. The tragedy of this ship is that it can never be the way we want it to be. Rex will age and die long before Ahsoka is even halfway through her own life. They cannot live with one another. They cannot wake each morning with each other, at least not at the point we see them in rebels.
But they continue to love each other. Even over distance, even knowing that mortality will claim them with only a fraction of the memories that they deserve with one another.
So please, the next time you see some art or a fic, or a post like this, think of what I had to say. Rexsoka is about two adults, their lives destroyed at the hands of Sidious, but in defiance they still forge a bond that he could never break or take from them. And that to me is beautiful and something to celebrate.

Side note: I spent a ton of time making gifs but they never would work and so I had to use screenshots instead :(
EDIT: At the request of the OG poster of a few gifs, I have replaced them have also made some grammatical changes.

Hello Six, I saw your post about writing for OM so I hope you don't mind me dropping in ;v; could I get the brothers reacting to am MC who has decided to cut off their hair? I've been going through a gender identity crisis and it made me feel better to chop off most of my hair and I was wondering if they would still like me or not :')
hii! as someone who did that, a personal note: hair grows, and if you don't like it short it can grow back! you should definitely go for it! now, to the headcanons!
Demon Brothers seeing MC chopping off their hair
Lucifer:
At first, he only sees the hair chopped and thinks it's a practical thing.
After all, shorter hair is easier to maintain, easier to wash, to dry, to keep it neat.
So he of course tells you you look wonderful and moves on. He likes how it looks, you seem happy, it's none of your business.
If you tell him you cut it off for gender confusion reasons, he will be more attentive.
He will make sure to stop gendered language with you altogether, unless you specifically want him to use a certain gender as your preferred.
He will teach you how to style your hair, specially if you want it to look more masculine. He has a soft spot for more elegant and formal styles.
If you do end up coming out as transmasc or nonbinary, he will be taking you to buy new clothes, and he will definitely help if you want to medically transition.
Overall, this man is the Avatar of Pride in every way possible. He wants you to feel good about yourself, to love yourself fully, and he will do whatever you need to hell you reach that point.
Mammon:
This boy is head over heels about you. If let your hair grow to your feet, or shave it, or chop it, or even have a monk haircut, he will love it because of how much he loves you.
It will be like pulling teeth to get him to admit it, tho. He will look at you and go "ya liked my hair so much you decided to copy it, huh, MC?"
If he notices you're hesitant about it, he will hype you up, however. He also wants you to feel your best.
If you asked for his help he will be over the moon, but he will destroy your hair. Keep him away from scissors.
The moment he finds out it's gender questioning, he will be all over you, asking about names and pronouns, all things you might wanna try it out.
He wants to take you out to get new clothes, binders, pride merch, all he can. It's part wanting to spend some money and part wanting to support you.
In the end of the day, he just wants you to feel happy and whole. He is your first guy, he will always want your best.
Plus, your new hair is very stimmy. He cannot stop petting it!
Leviathan:
He knows exactly what's going on from the moment you show your hair. He wants so badly to tell you he understands, that he feels the same, that he has questioned himself and his identities many times.
But he is the most awkward person alive, it comes out as "a normie haircut for a normie" and he wants to dig a hole and stick his head on the ground.
Once he takes his foot off his mouth, however, he is your biggest hypeman.
He will find every videogame and anime character that is trans, every gender non conforming, even characters that questions their gender.
He will try any pronoun or name you want, and he will suggest names he thinks you might like.
He tends to shove his nose in your hair when you're cuddling him, so having it shorter makes this easier for him.
He ends up doing a lot of research on the internet so he goes from mildly confused to expert in two days.
Overall, he's trying his best, and he will do anything he can, even if he's very awkward in the beginning.
Satan:
He loves your new hair! He will tell you outright, and he will be excited for your new look. He isn't particularly loud about it, but he will be honest about how much he likes it.
If you tell him you chopped it off for gender issues, he will be sympathetic to you.
This man has questioned every little bit of his identity, as he feels like he is lesser as a subset of Lucifer. He has definitely questioned his gender, therefore, he's been there.
He will be quoting Simone de Beauvoir to you: "you aren't born a woman, you become one." He will specially stress how this turns on any gender, how socialization plays a big part on how you are gendered, and he will ramble on and on about how gender works if you let him.
Surprise. He's well versed in gender theory. He has read every book about LGBT experiences he could get his hands on.
He's another one who's trying out pronouns, names, clothing, terms with you. He is excited you trust him in this journey.
Overall he treats gender and sexuality as fluid and natural, and you will never find him confused when talking about gender and sexuality issues. He's got your back.
Asmodeus:
He is immediately squealing about your hair! Oh, you look soo adorable. You look so nice with this cute hair... He wants to style it in so many ways.
Oh, you are having gender issues? Asmo will hear you out. You will be sitting there, with a face mask while he does mani and pedi for you, and you will pour your heart out for him.
At some point, you might notice he is quiet, even if he hasn't stopped treating you right. You ask if he's okay, and...
"You can do that??"
Congratulations, you gave Asmo a lot to think about.
He isn't the most confirming man, as he is a man in the sense of that was was given to him. Giving him options will get him to actually question it.
You two will probably go through it together, trying out new things, and turns out, Asmo is nonbinary! None gender with left boy, apparently.
No matter where you end up in the gender spectrum, he will always support you as he loves you for who you are.
He will also be incredibly thankful to you helping him out with that! He will spoil you endlessly for helping him figure out a bit more about himself.
Beelzebub:
He didn't notice the hair first. He noticed how happier you looked, and that made him smile too. Then you showed off your hair.
He fell in love with you again.
He thinks it looks so sweet on you, he just wants to pet you and he is all awwing, then you tell him about why you cut your hair.
He feels really bad about the idea you'd feel so confused and anguished. He decides then and there he will help you get it over as quickly as you can.
He will be trying out names and pronouns, get you new clothes, getting you aids like binders, he will be doing research, everything he can.
You will have to tell him this takes some time and he can't rush it.
He takes you to work out with him to see if that takes your mind off things, will get you delicious food. Everything to comfort you.
Once you get to an understanding, he will be cheering with you. Your happiness is his prime objective, even if he can't quite understand how you're feeling.
Belphegor:
He is ecstatic about your haircut.
When you cuddle him, if you are the small spoon, your hair is usually got into his nose, so a short hair is way better for that.
If you tell him why you cut your hair, he will have a moment of confusion, then launch on questions.
He wants to know how you think so he can help you out on figuring it out.
Reading can be exhausting to him, so he ends up watching a lot of deviltube videos about transgender people, but will always put your experiences first.
He pretends like he doesn't care, but he would do anything to make you happy. Therefore he's always looking for ways to make you more comfortable about yourself.
Whenever you end up on the spectrum, he will not mind. You're his companion, so he just wants you to be with him, at your happiest and more comfortable.

BAKUGOU’S MASTERLIST
Ep. Warnings: cursing, mentions of abuse and manipulation, slice of life(ish), manga spoilers!!
A/N: Ok so this is just what I daydream about, and since ima tv addict, I’m involving some “Avatar: The Last Airbender” related things, but a little different. This is more of an introduction to our character but I hope you enjoy!
Pt.1 Pt.2 Pt.3 Pt.4 Pt.5 Pt.6 Pt.7 Pt.8 Pt.9
Summary: It’s Y/N’s first day at UA.....as a “former” villain
“Y/N L/N. She’s a new transfer student. Treat her with your respect and do your best to take care of her.” The tired teacher spoke.
“.......Hey. Please treat me well.” The intimidating girl said as she bowed in respect.
Now if you were to see Y/N on the streets as a stranger, you wouldn’t even think she would have this threatening aura. The class agreed. She’s gorgeous. From a far, you would think she’s a sweetheart, But the girl had a cold, calm stare in her E/C eyes. There was actually no way to describe it. It was just chilling to the bone.
Not only that, but it was clear you were a little rebel. Mainly because of the way you decided to change up your uniform. Your sleeves were torn off to make your button up top some sort of tight fitted turtle neck with a tie that was complimenting your busty figure. Especially since it was tightly tucked into your skirt, pressing against your torso instead of loosely sitting in there like the other girls. You also added a small dark brown belt to cover where your skirt and top meet. Your waist gave the perfect show of how curvaceous you truly were. Your thighs were deliciously thick and your ass must’ve been a perfect peach, considering it caused your skirt to seem a little too small for you. Instead of the typical shoes and knee high socks, you opted for thigh high dark brown leather boots that folded at the top to match your belt. No heel though, of course. Gotta keep it casual. You finished off your rebellious look with a pair of black leather fingerless gloves. Do you look like trouble? Yup. Do you look hot as hell though? You bet.
“You may be seated next to Katsuki Bakugou.” Your new teacher spoke. Before anybody else could give an indication of who this “Bakugou” boy was, an electric blonde spoke up.
“Be careful with that one pretty lady, he’s our resident hot head.” The boy spoke while the entire class giggled.
“Shut it dunce face.” Your eyes shifted from one blonde to another. This time with a spiky head of ash blonde hair and piercing red eyes. As you walk towards your new seat, you made eye contact with the spiky blonde, you saw the look on his face. Just like everyone else, a face of fear and shock, except this time the person didn’t know who you were.
Bakugou could definitely say upon first glance, you were definitely something fierce. It threw him off just how powerful your presence was. He quickly turned away as you took your seat.
As class began, everyone had their eyes on Y/N. Some admiring her beauty, others wary of her aura, and some too nervous to mention their newfound fear of her. In the middle of Mr. Aizawa’s boring lecture, a scratch at the door could be heard.
‘A scratch?’ Everyone thought. But Y/N knew exactly who it was.
When Mr. Aizawa went to open the door, in came what appears to be a wolf-dog. Mr. Aizawa seemed to casually accept it and just expected you to explain. He was too tired to deal with this crazy shit.
“Oh..there you are Rumor. Took you long enough to find this place.” The creature, also somehow intimidating, simply just huffed at the girl and layed down next to her seat in between her and Bakugou.
“L/N, please explain to the class why Rumor is here. They clearly seem to be confused.” Y/N looked around the room to see her new classmates staring at her and her furry friend.
“*sigh* he’s my animal companion.” You simply stated. Apparently it didn’t satisfy your peers because a freckled, green haired boy spoke up.
“Animal companion? Like a service dog?” The timid boy asked. You secretly rolled your eyes at the fact you’ll have to answer this question again. That is until Bakugou spoke.
“You damn nerd, if he was a service dog, she woulda said that now, don’t ‘cha think?” ‘Dunce face and a damn nerd huh? Wonder what new nickname this hedgehog will give me.’ Your little quip made you give the smallest smile with a quiet laugh to yourself
What you didnt realize was that during your little moment, Bakugou was watching you the entire time. He fought the blush that was threatening to rise and successfully won. ‘The hell?’ Bakugou thought. Since when did he blush?
“He’s right. Rumor isn’t my service dog, he’s my animal companion. And no, not my pet. He’s more like a close friend. My best friend if anything. He’s also not a dog either, he’s a changeling.” You explained hoping someone else knew what a changeling was. Thankfully, the “damn nerd” did.
“Changeling? I thought they were just a myth.” He said. “What the heck is a changeling, Deku?” You turned and saw it was a girl with a round face and pink cheeks. ‘Deku? How rude’ you thought to yourself.
“Changelings were rumored to be magical like beasts who could take the form of any animal they chose. Those forms could be as real as eagles and bears or as mythical as dragons and unicorns. They could also change the size of their form too. Am I right, L/N?” Deku asked you.
“You’re completely right, Deku.” The green haired boy blushed at his nickname on your tongue. “Rumor can be any creature I command. His wolf-dog form is his casual form though. It’s the form he took at birth I guess.”
“You guess?” Bakugou asked.
“Yes, I guess. I didn’t have Rumor since he was born. I found him while I was on a walk in the forest. We just clicked, and he followed me home. That’s when I discovered his powers and what he was, and seeing that changelings were only rumored to have existed, I thought it would’ve been a fitting name. We’ve been together ever since, and not only does he work as a friend, he’s a fighter too. He’s like a partner to me which is exactly why principle Nezu allowed him to attend UA with me. I guess you could say he’s part of my...uhm..quirk” You thoroughly explained. You couldn’t help it. You loved talking about Rumor. He was your best friend and definitely one of a kind.
Rumor looked up at you and barked. You turned to pet him on the head and gave him a little smile. Something that didn’t go unnoticed by the resident hot head, which once again caused him to fight back a blush. ‘The fuck is going on with me today?’ The blonde thought to himself. Finally satisfied with the answers, the class picked up where they left off and continued to learn about quirks which didn’t seem all that useful to you since....you don’t have one.
——————————————————————————
Later
“Remember, we will all be meeting at gym gamma tomorrow morning, so don’t bother coming to the classroom. Just meet up there with any comfortable gym wear.” Mr. Aizawa said at the end of the day.
“Yes sir!” The class all said. “L/N stay behind, I need to speak to you and Rumor.” The tired teacher said with a yawn.
“Yes sir.” You calmly replied.
As the class gathered their things to leave, some came up to speak to you. First it was Deku and the round faced girl.
“Welcome to UA L/N. My name is Izuku Midoriya!” Deku said.
“Oh my apologies. I thought I heard that your name was Deku.” You said so nonchalantly with your sweet voice.
“Well it’s just a nickname that started up with Kacchan.” The boy was now blushing in slight embarrassment while rubbing the back of his head.
“Kacchan? I’m sorry, I don’t know who that is.” You said.
“Oh right! My bad, Kacchan is Bakugou. It’s a name I gave him during our childhood.” He stated.
“Seems a little mean.” You chuckled
“Yeah but he’s always been like that.” The boy smiled with a small laugh.
“I think I can tell. He must be really nice to Deku and Dunce face.”
You both shared a laugh at your little sarcastic poke at the explosive blonde that the girl was feeling a little left out.
“Anyways, I’m Ochako Uraraka! I was really hoping I could talk to you more but Deku over here can’t seem to keep his mouth shut.” the girl slightly teased.
“Meh. No worries. We’re gonna be stuck together for the next few years. We have plenty of time to get to know each other.” You so kindly spoke as you gathered your stuff.
“Totally! We can-“ Uraraka was cut off by a very handsome two toned boy with a scar. He definitely reminded you of some you knew. You watched as he came up to speak to Midoriya.
“Hey, Midoriya. Did you want to...” you tuned out his conversation. You simply just stared at him in awe. No doubt about it. He was definitely Dabi’s brother. But he was a whole lot more handsome.
The boy caught onto your staring and introduced himself.
“Hello L/N, my name is Shoto Todoroki. You may know me from my father, Endeavor, but I assure you, I’m nothing like him. In fact it’s safe to say I hate him.” He stated ever so calmly. ‘Wow. So blunt. And I guess hating Endeavor runs in the family’
“Hey it’s fine. I get it, daddy issues.” You nervously laughed but this seemed to strike an interest in Todoroki as he seem to have wanted to continue bashing both of your fathers until he was interrupted by Bakugou.
“You’re in my way Icy-hot.” ‘Jeez, another nickname?’ You thought.
“Then move to another side.” Todoroki quickly came back with.
This caused you to now openly give a quiet laugh, you could already tell what kind of relationship those two have. During your small laugh, Bakugou once again caught himself staring, except this time, he was caught. And it was by you.
You both made eye contact once again. As he stared into your E/C colored eyes, and you stared into his rubied gems, you both grew a slight blush on your cheeks and the 3 standing next to you both took notice.
“Hey..” you sweetly said.
“..........hey.” He replied and quickly looked away embarrassed. That peaceful little moment made your heart stir. Something that hasn’t happened in a long time. If felt calming, loving, happy...and weird and confusing. Thankfully, Dunce face came up to flip the switch.
“Wow Kacchaaannn,” the electric blonde said wiggling his brows. “Never seen you blush like that. You got a little crush on the new gir-“
“SHUT UP SPARK PLUG!” Bakugou exclaimed as he quickly made his way out of the classroom.
“Hey why you gotta be so mean all the time man!” Dunce face cried out.
“I SAID SHUT UP” Bakugou screamed from down the hall. ‘Well he certainly is interesting.....and cute’
“Ah jeez, whatever,” the blonde sighed before you seemed to have caught his attention.
“Well hey there pretty lady,” he started “I’m Denki Kaminari and you are one gorgeous girl. And you definitely got a rockin’ bod-“ he was cut off by our scary teacher.
“That’s enough Kaminari, I need to speak to L/N. Now all of you, out.” He commanded.
They all took their leave thinking about how cool and kind you were. Oh how wrong they were. The little act you put up sure was convincible. Hell, the only thing you genuinely meant was that Todoroki and Bakugou were cute and the blush that came up whenever Bakugou stared at you. You still couldn’t explain it but you brushed it off.
When all were gone, you mentally took notes of their names and possible quirks.
Izuku Midoriya. Alias: Damn Nerd and Deku. Quirk: unknown.
Ochako Uraraka. Alias: unknown. Quirk: unknown.
Shoto Todoroki. Alias: Icy-hot. Quirk: possibly related to cold and heat
Denki Kaminari. Alias: Dunce Face and Spark Plug. Quirk: possibly related to electricity
Katsuki Bakugou. Alias: Kacchan. Quirk: unknown
“L/N.” Your teacher snapped you out of your quick thought and got you focused.
“You seemed to be very comfortable with telling them about Rumor.” Mr. Aizawa said with an eyebrow raised.
“Well he is my best friend. I could go on and on about Rumor for hours if people didn’t stop me. And you can’t lie, he is pretty interesting. Especially his fighting style. You would know all about that, wouldn’t you....Eraser Head?” You said with a sinister smile.
You were well aware that Aizawa knew Rumor’s capabilities very well. You were also aware he knew much about yours too. I mean, you both have fought each other before. And one of you almost didn’t make it out alive. Hint hint, it wasn’t you.
“You are to address me as Aizawa Sensei or Mr. Aizawa, Titania.” He sternly said.
“Ouch, the villain name? I thought the past was the past. There’s a good inside me, dont you remember? You were the one who said it after all. You were even the one who recommended an S-Class villain like me should join UA.” You snidely replied.
*flashback*
As you fought against the skilled pro, you could tell he was getting weaker and weaker by the second. You used your air bending to push him back, crushing him into the wall, and keep him far away. Before you could send Rumor in to finish the job, a hand on your shoulder stopped you.
“Kurogiri? What are you doing here?” You stopped fighting and quickly turned to your superior in a fearful and shaky manner. Although you were much stronger than him and could easily take him down, you knew better. Your mind had already been so manipulated into thinking you were the weakest villain in the league, when it reality, you were strong enough to take down Shigaraki in a snap...but you didn’t need to know that.
Eraser Head, too tired and beaten to even pick himself up off the ground watched the interaction from the distance.
“You were told to collect intel, not fight a pro.” The black fog stated.
“Well yes, but he tried to stop me an-“ he silenced you with a smack to the face. Kurogiri was a respectful man...in ways...but he was just following orders on how to treat Y/N.
“If he tried to stop you, you run away.” He said, matter of factly.
“But he-“ once again, he cut you off but this time with a louder voice.
“But nothing! You were to gather intel and report back to base. Not fight. If you got into trouble, you are to run away, and use your bending and Rumor as assistance.” He stated.
“Yes sir. I’m sorry sir.” You said with your head bowed down in dishonor.
Aizawa could already tell from afar how controlled you were. In past fights, he’s noticed how you were so quick to succumb to any villain in the league, and you were always so willing to go back to them no matter how many times you could’ve ran away on your own. It was like they had something you needed, or more so it was them that you needed. For survival, perhaps?
“Did you even gather the information we needed?” Kurogiri asked.
Your silence gave him all the answers he needed. With a disappointing glare he reached for you, when you flinched at just the slighted movement, Aizawa knew something was wrong. Yes you were a villain, but it was clear you were also a manipulated child. So he acted quick, and attacked Kurogiri, knocking him out, and grabbed you. Before you both took off, you threw one of your earrings at kurorgiri’s unconscious body, knowing he’ll know what to do once he sees it. As he ran with you, he took notice of the animal behind him that followed you. When he finally landed on a cliff hanging over the city, he placed you down to sit on the grass and looked at you before speaking.
“I can see it. All of it. They’re controlling you aren’t they?” The pro-hero spoke.
“Excuse me? Nobody is controlling anybody! I choose to follow orders!” You yelled as Rumor came up to you.
“What is that thing?” Aizawa asked.
“He’s my friend and you won’t harm him!” You said while grabbing onto Rumor.
The pro took note of that word you used. Friend. Villains don’t have friends, they don’t have anybody but goons and partners in crime. Literally. You were definitely different compared to these other villains.
“I have no intentions on harming you or your friend.” The pro spoke.
“So what do you want with me.”
“....Simple. I want you to go to school, live in the dorm rooms, eat good food, train more to become better as a person and fighter, and make more friends. I see a good in you Titania, you deserve a good life. Not one controlled by villains where you do their bidding for what? Survival?” Aizawa said as he crossed his arms while looking at you.
You were in shock. He was able to figure you out. Well, he figured out why you were with the league. Survival. But it doesn’t matter, you were so brainwashed that you were convinced anyone outside the league wanted to kill you...at least that’s what the LOV told you.
“I don’t want to go to school, I want to go back home to the league.” You said while looking down and holding onto your furry friend.
“Home? UA could give you a better home.”
You looked up in shocked at his words. He wanted you to attend school at UA? You know that place. That’s the one place where the league has been so invested in ever since All Might joined the staff there. Suddenly, an idea came into thought. You knew exactly how you were gonna get into the league’s good graces and out of the cold shadow.
“UA?....That’s where you want me to go? How the hell am I supposed to get in there? I’m a known villain genius.” You sarcastically said.
“A villain hidden behind a full face mask. People don’t know your true identity, and did you ever think that maybe the league wants it that way?” He said
“Are you saying you know who I truly am?” You questioned him.
“No, but that doesn’t matter right now. If you want to go to UA, I can help you. I’m a teacher there and I can put in a good word for you. Sure it will take a lot of convincing but I’m willing to do it. Using UA as a reformatory program for you could be benefitting you in more ways than one. So if going to UA is what you really want, I’m more than happy to help you Titania.”
You couldn’t believe it. Your heart was so excited. You were finally going to get away from this horrible life of crime and killing. Away from the abuse and blood. Away from the league. But your brain was telling you to deny it all. You were safer with the league, everyone is out to get you, and you will die without the villains help. But a bark broke you out of thought.
You turned to your side to see what seems to be a smile on Rumor’s face. He was wagging his tail and sticking his tongue out while giving you puppy dog eyes. It appears he knew what was going on and he seemed excited. For your best friend, the world. So you gave in...happily.
“Y/N.” You said while getting up off the ground.
“Huh?” The pro spoke.
“My name is Y/N L/N, and I’d be happy to join UA.” You said with a smile and tears of joy filling you eyes. Rumor happily barked at the pro as well.
“Well alright then,” the pro said sticking out his hand for you to shake, “Y/N L/N, welcome to UA.”
As you shook his hand your smile held a thousand words. Happiness, excitement, villainy, and sin. Sure you were going to benefit yourself, but you were also going to benefit the league.
*Present Time*
“I was hoping I’d get more respect from you considering I was the one who got you into UA,” Aizawa tiredly said while turning his head towards the ceiling and crossing his arms. “But I guess that mischief and attitude just comes with the deal.”
“Correct.” You simply said.
“So are you willing to tell them what your “quirk” is? You seemed so open about Rumor, I thought your powers would be the same.” Aizawa pressed on.
“Not sure yet. I only just met the students. They seem nice.” You said while looking at your now very interesting shoes.
“They’re a crazy bunch, but they’re incredible friends. They could be great friends to you too Y/N.” You looked back up at him with hope, but quickly remembered why you were there in the first place.
The teacher took noticed of this and continued. “Either way, they’ll have to see what you got tomorrow. In gym gamma we’ll be doing some sparring including our quirks, so you’ll have to show them all that you can do.” He said.
He saw how that made you nervous. Not because you were scared to speak about or show your abilities, but because you knew you would be hit with thousands of questions. Oh how annoyed you must be.
“Understood.” You said to him as if you were a soldier. He won’t get used to that. He’ll have to make sure you know it’s ok to speak to people as..well people, and not like everyone is your superior.
“Good,” he began to walk to his yellow sleeping bag to pick it up, “now head to the front of the school. I left an escort for you to help guide you to your dorm room. That person will also be a guide in all things UA for you so be nice. You’ll be stuck with them for awhile. That is all, you can go now.”
As you and Rumor made your way to the front, you had so many questions going on in your mind. Should you make new friends or keep them at a distance? Should you completely drop the league and join UA? Should you blow your cover and expose why your truly there? What to do, what to do.
When you made it to the front, you finally saw your escort, and you couldn’t help but give a little smirk.
“Hey..”
A/N: If y’all wanna see the clothes that inspired Y/N’s uniform, check this out!!!
A/N: Damn guys, I know I’ve only just started writing but this is kinda the story I imagine in my mind at night. So I thought it would be fun to give it to reality. So here’s my first FanFic😅 hopefully it doesn’t turn out too terrible, but I promise to work on my skills and improve. Also, if you need a reference to what Y/N’s uniform looks like, search up “Akame from Akame Ga Kill.” That’s the look that heavily inspired Y/N’s new uniform. And if you’re confused on what the boots look like, search up “Lucy Heartfilia thigh high boots,” bc those are the EXACT boots I imagine on Y/N except in a darker brunette color to match the belt. Once again, NOT spell checked so my apologies for any mistakes. I hope you enjoyed pt. 1! And if this goes well, tell me if you’d like a pt. 2! I love to hear feedback! Thx <3

Excuse me everyone I am somewhat in an emotional state right now because of Aang and Appa
Blame this on me watching over ‘Lake Laogai’ today and when Appa and Aang reunited it hit me a little too hard. And I want to talk a little about that specific moment and why it was so special.
We saw Aang go through one of his worst and I mean one his worst moments after loosing Appa. To briefly go over ‘The Desert’- for a moment he blames Toph for the loss of Appa, he is generally snappy with Katara, he doesn’t seem to care about Sokka’s frequent hallucinations and may or may not have killed the buzzard wasp after it took Momo. He unleashes the avatar state in a fit of rage and pain against the sand benders until he is held tightly in the arms of Katara and cries harder than he has ever cried before. Fast forward to ‘The Serpant’s Pass’- he ignores his feelings and how hurt he is about loosing Appa. He says to let go of hope and closes himself of from Katara when she tries to comfort him. So I’m sure we can all agree this wasn’t the usual Aang we knew. Now that isn’t to say he is incapable of or that he wasn’t allowed to feel these emotions or that he had no right to act the way he did. Because he did have a right. Because this is Appa. The original Airbender, the last sky bison (no, we’re not including the ones from LOK because LOK happened after ATLA), the last living being that Aang has that is connected to the Air Nation, and most importantly- his best friend.
Aang and Appa have such a special and if I do say so, an overlooked relationship in the fandom. Their bond is unbreakable. Appa isn’t just some pet. Especially not to Aang.
Tumblr media
Appa is a companion to Aang.
-an animal with whom one spends a lot of time or with whom one travels intended to complement or match each other.
Tumblr media
“I guess this mean we’ll always be together.”
And they should always be together. You don’t separate from a companion. Keeping in mind everything that Appa means to Aang, and everything Aang means to Appa and their bond of loyalty and friendship- Aang’s behaviour in ‘The Desert’ and in ‘The Serpant’s Pass’ is more than understandable. That is until the end when Aang finds hope when a baby is born. Then we have:
Tumblr media
Now yes I know, him mentioning Katara makes my Kataang heart cry too, but I have a thing in my drafts for that another time. I’m keeping this strictly on Appa and Aang. But take into account here...Appa brings Aang happiness and love. Aang considers Appa as family.
Tumblr media
I mean come on- he is literally having dreams about him, as is Appa thinking about him. This transition and then Aang saying while dreaming “Always” in remembrance of Appa- heartbreak.
Can I even just for a second go back to the very first interaction we see of Appa and Aang together in the series? Aang has just woken up after 100 years- and of course we have that iconic sweet “Will you go penguin sledding with me?” But after that and just questioning to what exactly is going on whilst rubbing his head tiredly- the second he hears Appa softly growling, he gasps and immediately scrambles up the steep ice, and flings himself onto Appa just to see him and make sure he’s okay. Is that not the most sweetest thing or is that not the most sweetest thing-?
Tumblr media
Now that I’ve established how special their bond and connection are to one another, I’m going to go back to the scene were they reunite in ‘Lake Laogai’ because that was the whole scene I was meant to talk about in the first place and why it is so special taking in how deep and strong Aang and Appa’s friendship is.
Tumblr media
But here. How his face lit up, how he was the only one to shout his name out, how he was the first to start running to him, how he was the first to get to him. And even when the rest of the gaang comes and of course they are over-joyed to have Appa back-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
We have this perfect moment between just Aang and Appa. Even with the gaang’s loud vocal cheering and laughter while hugging and petting Appa, Aang embraces Appa silently as tears fall down his cheeks as he says softly:
“I’ve missed you buddy.”
And Appa, over the rest of the gaang’s prominent voices, hears Aang’s quiet voice, understands and closes his eyes with Aang in the comfort of each other. Aang and Appa’s happiness and love with each other doesn’t compare to anything else. Or anyone else. Aang and Appa both have a member of their family, their companion- their best friend back again.

i’m glad i’m not the only one who sees the amazing potential of aang and suki being best friends. do u have any headcanons about their friendship? :)
I love the potential of aang and suki’s friendship, as I’ve talked about at length before. here are some more ideas:
though they first meet on kyoshi island, they don’t really have time to get properly acquainted. sure, suki meets aang and appa and momo, but she wants to maintain more dignity than the rest of the village, seeing as she does have a reputation to uphold, so as much as she would love to interrogate aang about all of his experiences and bask in his avatar presence, she leaves the more overt fangirling to the “civilians” and decides not to bother him. that said, she somehow convinces everyone that feeding the avatar’s animal companions is a job fit only for the leader of the kyoshi warriors, specifically so that she has an opportunity to hang out with appa and momo. she finds sokka feeding momo some nuts and berries and she’s like “wtf sokka that’s my job!!!” and sokka is just so confused because ever since they found momo sokka has been the one to feed him (even though aang promised that momo was his pet, and his responsibility) so he’s like “it’s literally not tho…?” but then he realizes that she just really wants to feed appa and momo herself, and he teases her about it relentlessly.
suki doesn’t talk to aang much while they’re traveling across the serpent’s pass, because they’re both pretty mired in their own shit, and they don’t know each other well enough that either of them could convey their problems to the other. their friendship really begins at the western air temple, the day after suki gets back from the boiling rock and aang insists on giving her the grand tour. suki is so charmed by his excitement over the history of the temple, and all the cool places to explore, and aang is delighted to find that someone actually cares about the temple as much as he does. after months in prison, it’s so refreshing for suki to finally explore a place designed with the value of freedom in mind, and aang has so much fun with her as she willingly indulges all his whims, and suggests games for them to play. that night as they’re all eating dinner, aang says to sokka, “i didn’t realize that suki was so cool and fun and smart – how on earth did you manage that?”
their infamous prank war begins the day after the gang returns from the boiling rock. sokka insists on letting suki sleep in, since it’s her first night free from prison and she’s definitely exhausted, but by 4pm people are starting to fear the worst. just having gotten back from firebending practice, aang’s like “don’t worry guys, i got this” and pulls the classic “there’s a snake in your sleeping bag!” of which he is so fond. suki, still barely awake, lets out a very undignified yelp in front of her boyfriend’s friends and family (and also chit sang), and in that moment, vows revenge. (I shan’t get into the details now, but let’s just say, their prank war lasts years and costs at least a couple international incidents.)
at some point between the western air temple and ember island, suki tells sokka about her time with the kyoshi warriors helping refugees, finding appa, getting captured by azula, and everything that happened after that up to seeing him again at the boiling rock. sokka then relays the story of suki’s sacrifice for appa to aang, because he knows that he must. upon learning what suki did to save appa, aang is so incredibly grateful. he asks her if there’s anything he can do to show his thanks, and suki says, “the avatar’s gratitude is more than enough.” and then she ruffles his nonexistent hair and they hug.
after that moment, aang becomes extremely conscious of all the ways that suki is simply Not Okay. like, she may seem okay, because she has a great personality and is a master at deflecting, but of course aang sees right through her. only, he doesn’t exactly know what to do to help. he’s dealing with his own shit – like, a lot of it – and he knows that sokka is helping her, so aang just reaches out in the ways he knows how: through fun and affection. they hang out together on the ember island beach, and he always makes sure to give her hugs and cuddle with her and it’s nice – it reminds suki of being with the kyoshi warriors; she misses her girls, and even though they’re from different worlds, she and aang are also very similar in a lot of ways – he reminds her of home.
in the aftermath of sozin’s comet, suki is reunited with the kyoshi warriors, and aang is universally recognized as the avatar who ended the war. as they say their goodbyes, they promise each other never to lose touch, even if they must now go their separate ways. but as it turns out, for the rest of their lives, barely a month goes by that they do not see each other. their paths converge constantly. sometimes they go on adventures together by choice, sometimes they are both fulfilling avatar duties and happen to run into each other, sometimes they simply find each other in the south pole, both visiting their best friends at the same time (and sometimes they act as if their encounters are a mere coincidence, when really they have been planning an elaborate prank on the other for months).
aang, suki, and ty lee are the only members of their friend group who are actually fun at parties, and for this reason they basically form an unofficial party planning committee. upon katara’s birthday – which had better be the biggest event of the year – suki’s sole job in the process is to distract sokka for long enough that he does not have a nervous breakdown over making sure that katara’s birthday party is perfect. upon suki’s birthday, it is now aang’s job to distract sokka from having a nervous breakdown, but aang is unfortunately far less skilled at distracting sokka than suki is, and ends up injuring him in the process. all in all, a pretty good tuesday for the gaang.
suki is aang’s cool big sister, which suki finds kinda funny because she spent her whole adolescence idolizing and mythologizing the avatar, and now she knows the avatar personally and gives him forehead kisses every time she sees him and he is always coming to her looking for advice about girls and they get high on the beach together and laugh so hard against the crashing of the waves that they almost forget their trauma. their friendship is a beautiful, precious thing. (yes, they may be engaged in a seemingly endless, futile, needlessly complicated prank war, but at the end of the day, their friendship is crucial, because) they make each other better.
as everyone knows, suki adores momo, and dotes on him like he is her favorite stepson (momo is sokka’s son, so this makes sense). similarly, aang tries to befriend the unagi, though his level of success on that front depends on who you ask.

the years start coming and they don’t stop coming
In which Lilith’s return distorts her brothers’ perception of time.
Part 2 here
You’ve never seen the demon prince look so embarrassed.
“I can call for —”
“No, it’s okay. They deserve this.”
But you don’t, goes unspoken. You can see the pity in his eyes, feel the palpable disappointment in the air. Even Simeon and Luke make sure to hug you extra tight before stepping through the portal to the Celestial Realm, and Solomon promises to check up on you after you’ve returned home.
Thanking Lord Diavolo and Barbatos for their hospitality, you turn towards the final demon in the council room and put on the biggest grin your breaking heart can muster. “Hey, c’mere.”
Satan doesn’t hesitate to throw his arms around you. It’s almost like he’s trying to make up for his brothers’ absence, the way he crushes you to his chest and cradles the back of your head.
You can’t find it in yourself to blame them. As far as miracles go, this is a pretty big one. Lilith coming back to life is an unprecedented event, one not even Barbatos had seen coming. Nobody has any answers either. She’s definitely not a demon, not an angel, not human; just an immortal who knocked on the front door of the House of Lamentation three days ago.
Her brothers haven’t left her alone since. You’re happy for them, you really are, but a bitter part of you can’t help but wish her return had waited until after the exchange program ended. At least Lucifer had the courtesy to pull you aside and thank you on his family’s behalf (though you’re quite certain you had nothing to do with your ancestor’s sudden revival), in addition to making a pact with you as a token of his gratitude.
With that, you could have summoned all of them to send you off just as effectively as Lord Diavolo giving the order, but it won’t be the same and you know it. Your only saving grace is Satan, the one brother who’d kept his head and anchored you in the sea of loneliness you’d been set adrift in over the last few days.
“I’m gonna miss you, cat boy.”
“I miss you already,” Satan laughs softly, pulling back with a warm smile. “I’ll stay in touch, I promise.”
You squeeze his arms affectionately and glance past his shoulders at the closed doors. There’s the smallest shred of hope in you that thinks the others will come bursting through any moment now, scrambling for one final chance to see you. You give yourself five seconds, silently counting down to a pipe dream, before pressing a kiss to Satan’s cheek and releasing him.
“It might not seem like it now, but the Devildom will always be here for you,” Lord Diavolo says as the world around you fades to white. “Farewell.”
.
.
.
“Did you lose track of time at the library again? You missed dinner last night LOL.”
“Levi, be nice!”
Satan only hums quietly in response. He can’t be bothered to correct the assumption; it’s a convenient excuse for when his brothers actually notice he’s missing anyway.
The irony of Levi calling him out isn’t lost on him. While the otaku is still obsessed with his games and shows, he’s no longer as shut-in as he used to be, venturing outside the comforts of his sanctuary more often. Satan has passed by the common room on many occasions to find him and Lilith gaming or binging anime together, and the content expression on Levi’s face proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that the void from his Henry’s departure has long been filled.
“Oh, but speaking of,” Lilith sets her cutlery down and smiles shyly at the fourth-born, “I haven’t had the chance to explore the libraries here yet. If it’s not too much trouble, can you show me around and recommend a few books?”
Shrugging non-committedly, Satan continues with his meal, not once looking her in the eye.
.
.
.
You’ve always wondered how someone with the Avatar of Lust for a brother can have such terrible fashion sense. It should be impossible to go wrong with dressing for a funeral, but you guess life (along with a certain eyesore of a tie) just loves to disappoint you. Still, you’re too glad to have Satan with you right now to care.
“Thanks for coming.”
“Anytime.”
You lean into the demon’s side as he holds an umbrella over both of you. Your eyes are drawn to the flowers he’d placed on your mother’s grave, the only splash of color against the dull tombstone. For the longest time, all you can process is the pitter-patter of the afternoon rain on the plastic wrap of the bouquet, and the comforting weight of Satan’s arm across your shoulders.
“She was in a lot of pain,” you admit after a while, your voice slightly hoarse. “The doctors had to sedate her. She went in her sleep.”
“I’m sorry.” Satan fidgets awkwardly, not quite sure what to say. He’s no stranger to death, but the loss of someone dear is unfamiliar to him. “Perhaps Simeon can find out if —”
“No, no it’s fine. I just — I need to —”
The umbrella is forgotten as Satan catches you, lowering you gently to the ground when your knees give way. You cling to him desperately, and it’s all he can do to draw you close as you start to wail.
.
.
.
Satan barely makes it three steps into the house before getting pounced on.
“How was it? Where did you go? Ooh you lucky demon, I want to hear all the details!”
“Oi, oi! What are you babbling on about?”
“Don’t act coy with me! Lilith saw you at the florist’s yesterday with the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers!”
“Yesterday? But —”
“How come you never told me someone caught your eye? I would have dolled you up, lent you some of my clothes —” Asmo gasps dramatically. “You didn’t wear that horrid jacket to your date, did you?”
Wrestling a hand free, Satan musses his younger brother’s hair. “None of your business,” he growls, walking away with a smirk when Asmo immediately releases him to fix his appearance. “Who do you take me for, anyway?”
“Aww come on, just give me a hint! Do I know them? Is it someone from RAD? Ooh, did you meet them at the library or —”
Ducking into the safety of his room, Satan shuts the door in Asmo’s face.
.
.
.
“Thank fuck. Who picked your outfit this time?”
“Barbatos. And shut up.”
You grab Satan’s arm with a laugh and lead him towards your table, politely introducing him as ‘Stan from work’ to any relatives who ask about the handsome young man accompanying you. Satan’s usual mask is in place, but there’s no mistaking the gleam of wonder in his eyes as he takes in his surroundings.
“Finally,” you sigh, sinking into your seat and grinning sheepishly at the blond. “Sorry about them. It’s just that they’ve never seen me with anyone, so they’re really curious about you.”
“Well, I’m glad you invited me along. I’ve never been to a wedding before.” The romantic in Satan is openly basking in the ambience of the reception. “You mentioned that your niece had gotten married?”
“Technically my first cousin once removed, but yeah.”
“And you’ve not been seeing anyone?”
“You would have been the first to know if I have,” you tease, nudging him playfully. “Apparently a lot of people are put off by the way I dress. Too modest, they say.”
But not without good reason. The pact marks on your body may be slightly faded from disuse, but they’re still discernable if stared at hard enough: Lucifer’s at the back of your neck; Mammon’s over your heart; Levi’s curled around your right calf; Satan’s circling your left arm; Asmo’s dangerously close to tramp stamp territory; Beel’s just under your navel; and Belphie’s on your ribs at the side you like to sleep on.
Passing them off as tattoos without attracting the wrong kind of attention is a little tricky, so you’d rather take a page from Solomon’s book and cover them up. Being called a prude is easier than dealing with cultists.
(It also helps you to keep your mind off of them, because some wounds continue to hurt even after they heal, so there’s that.)
Sensing the drop in your mood, Satan clears his throat to get your attention. It’s only then that you realize there’s music playing in the background, and couples moving from their tables to the floor.
Your companion stands up and offers you his hand, this time with a genuine smile on his face. “May I have this dance?”
.
.
.
Lucifer’s tone books no room for argument. “This will be a family event, so I expect your attendance. Don’t think I haven’t noticed your little escapades over the past few months.”
“Tch.”
“Do I make myself clear?”
“Whatever. I’ll be there.”
Satan has to resist the urge to hurl his hardcover at the back of Lucifer’s head when he takes his leave. That’s no way to treat a book, after all.
Beel’s Fangol team has an upcoming match and it’ll be Lilith’s first time watching him play. She’s been hyped up for weeks, so it comes as no surprise that Lucifer would use the opportunity to turn it into a family outing. He’s been doing that a lot lately.
Gone is the stuffy first-born who can spend days in his office if left unchecked. Lucifer is still as strict as ever, still fulfills his duties to Lord Diavolo diligently, but it’s like he’s managed to master balancing work and play overnight. He makes more time for his siblings now, even if it’s to dole out punishments for their endless shenanigans, punishments that vary in severity depending on how cutely Lilith pleads on their behalf.
Lucifer has always doted on her, and she has him wrapped around her little finger. Belphie has even gone as far as corrupting her into pranking him, and she need only bat her eyelashes to get off scot-free.
Lilith was the catalyst for the Fall, her descendent the glue that brought her siblings back together, and her return the final piece in making their family whole again.
But you were family too, Satan thinks sourly, pulling out his D.D.D. to mark the date in his calendar.
.
.
.
When you invite Satan over to your apartment for tea, he never expected to be introduced to your new housemate: a handsome fellow with chestnut brown hair, sharp jade eyes, a runner’s body, and the softest-looking toe beans he has ever seen in his immortal life.
“Satan, meet Satan!” You hold out the tabby towards him with a shit-eating grin.
Both demon and cat blink owlishly at each other. The blond doesn’t know whether to feel endeared by the feline sharing his name or insulted that you would replace him so easily, but all it takes is a single bop on the nose with a curious paw for him to melt.
Satan the tabby, who normally prefers to scale your shelves and nap between your books, spends the entire day a purring puddle in Satan the demon’s arms, shamelessly relishing in pets and massages to the extent that at some point, you have a very real fear they might just end up absconding back to the Devildom together. Thankfully, some kibble and freshly baked treats help you separate the two for a while, at least long enough for you to get some decent conversation in.
You brew a pot of Earl Grey with the beautifully crafted tea set Barbatos gifted you when you had first moved in, and serve the scones you made earlier in the morning using the baking tools blessed by Luke during your housewarming. You don’t know if the little angel had actually imbued them with Celestial magic, but everything you cook somehow always lifts your spirits when consumed.
Satan has to catch himself in the middle of regaling you with Mammon’s latest half-baked scheme. The wistful look on your face is new; you’re usually eager to hear what his brothers have been up to, but something feels off today. He pours you more tea, slides another scone onto your plate, and waits.
“…Are they happy?” You ask after a while.
The demon knows better than to lie, even if it’s to spare you from the truth he suspects you’re already aware of. “Yes,” he admits grudgingly.
“I’m glad.”
Your smile doesn’t reach your eyes.
.
.
.
Lilith stands outside his room, holding a tray of tea and cakes.
“Hey, um, may I come in?” Her smile is both hopeful and uncertain. It’s a gamble, ambushing the fourth-born when he obviously has no interest in her. At best, he’ll make up an excuse to turn her away or just ignore her completely; at worst, well… she doesn’t really want to think about that. To her visible relief, he opens the door wider and steps aside.
Satan clears a space for her to set the tray down. There’s the briefest moment of hesitation before he drags your favorite armchair over and offers her a seat as well. He looks guarded but not openly hostile, a promising sign so far.
“You’ve been in and out of the house lately, so I haven’t had the chance to catch you. I thought we might sit down and talk,” Lilith says, pouring two cups of the hot beverage as she chooses her next words carefully. “The others told me about how you were born, but I understand that you are your own person. I’d like to get to know that person.”
A part of Satan is acutely aware of their one-sided relationship; he is familiar with her through Lucifer, but she has never met him. It makes sense for her to be curious about him, though Satan isn’t so sure he wants to return the favor. She reminds him too much of you in the way she prepares her tea, how she sits on your chair, her shy lopsided smile —
But she’s not you, and you’re not her, Satan has to remind himself lest he commits the same mistake his brothers nearly did after your lineage had been revealed. Now in a convoluted turn of events, it’s you who’s gone and Lilith here, and there’s no reason why he can’t give her a chance and treat her like the sister she could be to him.
It’s what you would have wanted.
Lilith tries not to let her shoulders slump too much when Satan quietly stands up and heads towards his door. She’s prepared to pack up and leave until she spots him grabbing several books from a nearby shelf.
“Have you ever read Mid-Fall Murders?” He asks, handing her a hardcover with a shy smile of his own.
.
.
.
“What’s it like?”
Satan’s grip on your hand tightens. “I don’t actually know,” he confesses, shuffling closer so that your shoulder and arm are pressed against his. It’s a strange sight, the two of you lying side by side on your bed, staring aimlessly at the ceiling.
“Will it hurt?”
“No.”
You’ve never heard a single word hold so much promise, but you have no reason to doubt the demon’s sincerity. Satan wouldn’t take pity on you just because you’re —
A light knock on the door, and in pokes Simeon’s head. “Ah, little lamb! I’m glad we made it in time.”
“Not so little anymore, Simeon.” You laugh softly, greeting Luke and Solomon as they trail in behind him. Satan brushes his lips over your forehead before getting up to receive your guests.
The day is as ordinary as it can be. You talk and catch up with your friends, trading stories and laughter over cups of tea that neither grow cold nor go empty. When the session turns into a mini book club gathering halfway through, Luke helpfully retrieves the debated titles from the massive shelf in the living room. He takes a while to find them; you’ve accumulated plenty of works over the years: recommendations by Satan, literature published under Simeon’s pseudonym, and handwritten tomes from Solomon to keep you in touch with your magic. The shelf is practically jam-packed with books, the only exception being a corner on the topmost tier, housing a little space that’s empty save for a worn green collar with a rusted bell.
Come sundown the five of you are still neck-deep in discussion, but as with all good things, the get together eventually reaches an end.
“Thanks everyone, it’s been fun,” you say, reclining back in your bed as Satan wordlessly cleans up. You squeeze his hand when he returns to your side and bid the others goodbye. “Hopefully I’ll see you guys soon?”
“About that…” Solomon clears his throat, wearing the smug look that usually accompanies a trick being pulled out of his sleeve, but this time it’s tinged more with excitement than mischief. “Simeon has a little present for you first.”
The guileless smile on the angel’s face betrays nothing as he steps forward and reaches into a small pouch at his hip. “Solomon, Diavolo and I have a theory. Now, keep in mind that this is all very experimental, but if it works, you’ll have more options to choose from, should you so wish.”
And then he brings out a ring.
.
.
.
“Are you, uh, are you okay?”
“Not in the mood, Mammon.”
“Oi, I’m trying to be nice here! Who do you think covered for your sorry ass when you came back past curfew the other day, huh?”
“What the hell do you want?”
“You may think you’re all stealthy and shit, but your eyes were pretty red that night. I thought you were at a book club meeting. Did something happen?”
“None of your business.”
“Argh, fine then! This is the last time I try to be a good big brother.”
“…Mammon?”
“?”
“...”
“...”
“I’m sorry.”
“Eh, what are you — you can’t just say that and then run off! Get back here!”
.
.
.
“Twenty, nineteen, eighteen…”
Lilith’s countdown echoes along the deserted hallway, prompting Beel to nudge the deadweight on his back. “Belphie, go get your own hiding place.”
“Mmngh… zzz…”
“Come on, or she’ll win this round with a two for one. Again.”
“…Just dump me somewhere she won’t find me then.”
A tall order, especially since Lilith can easily track them down by listening out for Beel’s stomach and/or Belphie’s snores. Still, the sixth-born lumbers through the house as quietly as he can, doing a one-eighty whenever he hears Lilith’s cheerful hums coming from the opposite direction. Technically they can avoid being caught if they keep moving, but that would be cheating. They hid in the attic previously so that’s a no go, their room’s too obvious, the kitchen too tempting, the common room too exposed…
Maybe Levi’s room? The otaku had sound-proofed his walls to avoid distractions from the outside world when he’s gaming, so it’s an ideal location to hide. He can stash Belphie in the bathtub and run interference until time’s up.
Backtracking, Beel breaks into a light jog towards the other wing, keeping his ears open for their seeker. It’s only because of his heightened senses that he’s able to pick up the faintest traces of magic on one of the walls, causing him to pause in his steps.
“Hmm? Why’d you stop?” Slightly more awake now, Belphie rubs his eyes and slides off his twin, who’s studying the blank space intently. “What’s wrong, Beel?”
“There’s something here, something…”
“It’s just a wall —”
“No, don’t you feel it? I know you weren’t around then, but it’s the same glamor as that time Luke went missing and we —”
Beel goes white. He whispers a name, a name not spoken in the house for years, and a door flickers into view. One hand grabs Belphie’s in a death grip as the other twists the knob and pushes the door open, revealing an old yet familiar room.
The place is devoid of life. Most of the furniture are covered by sheets, resting under thick layers of dust. In the middle sits a tree, sagging with age and soft with rot. Sunken footprints mark the demons’ furtive venture into decrepit memory, and the creaking of floorboards with every step only tethers the growing nightmare closer to reality.
A photo frame crashes to the ground.
.
.
.
They deserve this.
Satan feels it the moment the spell concealing your room was broken. It had been his way of protecting your memory, ensuring that your sanctuary would only be accessible to those who made the effort to remember you. He cast it about a year after you had left the Devildom, after he realized that leaving your door in plain sight wasn’t doing you any favors.
Hidden away in an alcove at the back of the garden, curled up with a blanket and a thermos of hot tea, Satan slides a bookmark between the pages of his latest novel and leans his head back, closing his eyes with a heavy sigh.
Even this far away from the house, he can hear the cacophony of screams and shouts, objects being flung and shattered into pieces, a muted bang suggesting that a wall has just collapsed. The fallout comes as no surprise; waking up after living the past hundred years or so in a daze will do that to a person – or in this case, demons.
Although the sounds of fighting call to the rage bubbling within him, the vindictive thoughts of his brothers getting their just desserts cool it to a simmer. He knows he’ll have to face them eventually, but he’ll cross that bridge when he gets to it.
“Meow?”
Emerald eyes blink open. There’s a faint rustle from the nearby bushes as a tiny Calico wanders out of the foliage, peering around the garden curiously. Upon spotting the blond demon, it perks up and makes a beeline for him.
“Hm? You’re not Callie. Are you new here, little one?” His mood considerably improved, Satan extends a hand towards the kitten. It skips the finger sniffing step and goes straight to headbutting his palm, begging for attention.
“You’re an affectionate one, aren’t you?” Satan caves immediately and scritches away with a delighted chuckle. He examines the markings on its tri-colored fur, wanting to recognize the friendly feline if it comes back in the future. The Calico is mostly white with patches of brown and black splashed over the back of its neck, near the base of its tail, just under the side of its ribs, and several other spots that seem to collectively resemble a familiar pattern…
Satan’s hand stills. He whispers your name, trembling with hope, and the kitten practically leaps into his arms, nuzzling his chin with a happy purr.

Aang
I don’t hear a lot of analysis on the actual main character of AtLA. Zuko, Iroh, and a few others seem way more worth analyzing, but I’ve been thinking about Aang for a while, particularly in regards to child abuse.  Across dozens of unrelated languages, “mom” is almost a cognate, my some weird form of repeated convergent evolution. Ms and Ps (or Bs) are some of the first sounds infants are capable of learning. Momo and Apa function as parents, expressing care and unconditional love, often quite competently, probably lightening the load of his loss. He lost the community he was raised by, and the person he saw as a father figure, but kept a semblance of symbolic parents through his animal companions. Between their familiarity and the obviously parental role Katara and Sokka play, he ends up experiencing almost uninterrupted dependence on non-standard parental figures. I think all of this makes it a lot easier to handle what he’s going through, for the character’s perspective and potentially for young viewers. They don’t have to go through the emotional torment of identifying with someone who has truly lost everything with no way to cope.  In so many arcs about responsibility, you look at the Bojacks and Walter Whites of the world of fiction and there’s a general theme of “you need to take responsibility for your actions.” For the adult men in the stories they exist in, that makes sense, and as adults we probably find that more relatable as struggling with handling the responsibility we need to put on ourselves is just hard for everyone. But for kids, that would be a terrible moral. Imagine Aang going through a Bojack-esque arc, learning to acknowledge the war as his own fault and coming to terms with that.  The arc he goes through is much better than that for his age. In the first season he goes through the trauma and blames himself. Several episodes revolve around him taking way more responsibility than kids should have to. There are several episodes where people hate him for what he did and he has to face that. Ultimately, every time he gains the strength necessary to take responsibility for something, he loses control over himself. Literally through the avatar state in the last episodes of the season, and even when he learns to firebend.  The second season is largely about reclaiming some control, and balancing his control over himself with letting his responsibilities control him. He choses to largely abandon the avatar state altogether, chosing control over responsibility. This is one of his first big steps away from taking on adult responsibility, aside from the fun little things he does randomly throughout, mostly in the first season. He takes a step back with control when Apa is stolen, getting super mad, and doing some avatar state stuff, ultimately taking a big step back in paralell with Zuko’s big step back, and getting pretty severely punished for it. Not only does he lose control, but he is unable to successfully manage the responsibility.  When finding someone to asks for help with earth bending, he ultimately decides on someone his own age, rather than seeking help from an adult. Having lost all of his friends, it’s important to him as a child to have child friends, and he acts on that, stumbling across someone who also happens to have the competence to help, achieving a balance between working with his needs as a child and acknowledging his responsibility.  Third season is where people get mad. His first two seasons can be seen as less convincing or interesting than other characters, but the third season upsets people, and I like it. He has fun in the fire nation, spends time being someone his own age, is actually in the background for a lot of the season, but does face challenges. Killing is something that could have been managed better leading up to this struggle, but giving up who he is and what he values for his responsibilities is exactly what he’s been struggling with the whole time. When he’s in control of himself, he will try not to kill people and he will have fun and nurture bonds he has with his friends, and when he abandons that for responsibility, he focuses on power, aggression, and winning. So for adults, the moral of the story is dumb, but I don’t think it makes sense to analyze the message of the story as it relates to adults. In the episodes leading up to the finale, Aang asks a bunch of people for help, especially adults, including other avatars, which are basically adults he is related to. The moral of that is that sometimes talking about your problems with adults can magically make your problems go away.  One of the biggest obstacles in talking to children about abuse is that they don’t want to or can’t talk about it. Often they are told by their abuser that it is not okay to talk about it, and they obey in an effort to be a good kid. In the final season, it’s Katara and Sokka and his entire support system pushing him to take responsibility over control, it’s who he sees as his parents pushing him deeper into trauma, and he talks to someone about it. The fact that that is presented as the right thing to do is a freaking awesome thing for kids to be taught. They don’t need to know the connection between asking for help and the help being provided. The responsible adults file police reports, go to court, work with lawyers, and stuff like that. The lion turtle touches your head. Either way, the problem is solved by the kid talking about the problem and someone else taking responsibility for fixing it. The point of Aang’s character arc is that he didn’t have to grow. It was okay for him to be small. His arc not leading to finding solutions to his own problems was exactly why it made sense.

Book 2, Chapter 15: Tales of Ba Sing Se
In case you’re finding this post just by browsing the tags I’ve used for this post, this is the Watchathon, a blog where I’m hoping to watch an episode of a TV show every weekday, with a short blog post where I write down my thoughts as I watch. Each new thought starts with a hyphen and a bolded first word.
- Like so. Now that the introductions are over with, here’s my thoughts on Tales of Ba Sing Se:
THE TALE OF TOPH AND KATARA
Tumblr media
- It’s nice to see the daily morning routine of the Gaang when they’re not traveling the world.
- “As long as they don’t touch my feet.” *immediate cut to them touching her feet in the spa*
- I like the use of bending when Toph and Katara are in the sauna. As I’ve said before, I’m just a sucker for mundane uses of powers like this.
- Another fun use of bending? Giving bullies their comeuppance.
- This scene of Katara telling Toph all the things she admires about her is so sweet. We haven’t gotten all that much interaction between these two so far (except for The Chase, where most of their time onscreen together is spent arguing), so this is nice to see.
THE TALE OF IROH
Tumblr media
- I like the scene of Iroh singing to the kid to cheer him up. It is just a sweet moment in general, but the choice of song is also a song that will come up in a different context later, so it acts as good setup for that, as well as showing us how it would normally sound.
- This scene of Iroh giving advice to the kids about admitting to their mistakes, then changing his mind, is both wholesome and hilarious. Iroh’s spent a lot of his screen time giving advice and reciting proverbs, but even he knows that sometimes? A simple tactical retreat can be the best option.
- Iroh is the rare kind of character who could give advice to their mugger, and instead of seeming stupid or smug, he seems wise and kind, advising the mugger to follow his dreams and not be afraid to accept help from others. Heck, this one conversation probably turned that guy’s entire life around!
- This scene always puts tears in my eyes. Even before Iroh starts talking, let alone singing, the background music, the sunset in the background, and Iroh setting up that picture of Lu Ten gives you a clue of just what Iroh’s here for.
- “If only I could have helped you.” Iroh’s been helping people for this entire story. Giving that shopkeeper advice about caring for the moonflower, calming down that kid, having a cup of tea with his mugger.
But he was unable to help his own son when his life was on the line. To Iroh, Lu Ten was his little soldier boy, but he’ll never come marching home.
And that’s why this is the saddest moment of the whole series.
THE TALE OF AANG
Tumblr media
- At first I thought that Aang was in the zoo looking for Appa. But, I don’t think Appa could actually fit in one of those cages...
- The rabbiroo is adorable, and I want so hard to believe that some Avatar in the entire line has had a rabbiroo for their companion (like how Aang has Appa, and Roku had that dragon).
- “Don’t worry, I’m great with animals.” Narrator: He was not that great with animals.
- I guess it never occurred to me that the Bison Whistle could work on anything other than a flying bison.
- Turtle seal, also adorable.
TALE OF SOKKA
Tumblr media
- Never imagined Sokka would have an appreciation for poetry.
- Epic rap battles? Nah, gimme more epic haiku battles!
- I like how the subtitles on Netflix are formatted like a haiku.
- Tsk, tsk, Sokka. You would’ve been in the clear if you’d omitted the word “young”.
- I like that the haiku club has a bouncer who literally throws people out if they get it wrong.
THE TALE OF ZUKO
Tumblr media
- Feels so weird to see Zuko all gussied up. He looks nice, though.
- Zuko’s so awkward, it’s both cute and hilarious.
- Headcanon that Zuko did actually learn juggling at some point after the series. Or even better, he actually did know how to juggle already, and actually did fail because he hadn’t practiced for a while.
- It’s really sweet that Zuko lit the lights for Jin. He just met her, might not even actually be romantically interested in her, but he was willing to risk getting caught by her or some random bystander just because it’s something nice that he could do for her.
- And even though it seemed like Zuko was prime for more angst, he still had to admit that it was a nice night.
TALE OF MOMO
Tumblr media
- We’ve seen Aang missing Appa, but it’s interesting to see that Momo misses him just as much.
- And Momo is even conducting his own search for Appa.
- There has to be a “Momo dances for an hour” video on YouTube, right? If not, there really should be.
- I don’t know why or how, but Momo’s been seeming more expressive in this story than he ever has in the series.
- I like the return of people speaking gibberish from Momo’s perspective. It was fun the first time, just as fun now.
- Just occurred to me that if these guys did cook up Momo, then Aang would be missing both of his animal companions.
- And Momo freeing the cats (even after they chased him down) brings him good karma as they take him to a footprint that definitely belongs to Appa. IIRC this is the audience’s first confirmation that Appa is (or at least has been) inside Ba Sing Se.
- This whole story was without dialogue. I just love it when that’s done well, and to be perfectly clear, it was done very well in this case.

Written for Kataang Week 2020. Prompt - Soft.
Momo is figuring out where he fits in with his new family.
~~~
Idk, this one's just cute. I kept the relationship tag as & because it's early in Book 1 and there's no romantic stuff going on. *shrugs*
Enjoy!
~~~
Momo was skittish the first few days he was with them. He scampered around Appa’s saddle and flew loop-de-loops around the bison while they traveled and stuck his hands into every bundle of supplies they had, and every evening when they stopped for the night he’d spend an hour running circles around their campsite. He chittered a lot and screamed occasionally and spent a lot of time watching Katara and Sokka from a safe distance.
Aang was the only person Momo came within arm’s reach of, and that was probably because Aang kept fruit in his pockets. When Momo progressed to diving into Aang’s clothes in search of food, Katara finally voiced her concerns.
“Aang, are you sure he’s...tame?” She’d grown up on the tundra, where most animals were either eaten or wanted to eat you. Watching Momo clamber all over Aang with prying hands and nibbling teeth was putting her on edge.
Aang watched in delight as Momo tried to shove his head up his sleeve, searching for treats. “I mean, he’s not tame, but...he’s also not exactly wild -wild.” Momo gave up on Aang’s sleeve and hopped up on Aang’s shoulder to nose at his shirt collar. “His ancestors were domesticated, so it shouldn’t be too hard to tame him.” Momo found a berry Aang had hidden and snatched it from his collar, chittering happily. He took a moment to nuzzle Aang’s chin before eating it. Aang grinned. “Lemurs are pretty intelligent. They kind of domesticated themselves, actually.”
“How so?”
“We leave food out, at the altars,” Aang said. “Always have, ever since the temples were first built.” He paused a moment, expression faltering slightly. Probably realizing he’d been speaking in present tense. Katara didn’t comment on it. Aang soldiered on. “So at some point thousands of years ago, the wild lemurs figured out the food was free for the taking, so they started eating it, and we figured out how to live with each other. And then we started keeping them on purpose and bred them for less wild traits. Momo might never have seen humans before, but his recent ancestors still had all those traits.”
“So...Momo’s not really wild, he’s just feral?” Katara surmised.
Aang grinned. “That’s it!”
Katara had to suppress a grimace. Feral wasn’t much better.
“And lemurs are really social creatures,” Aang added. “Momo must’ve had a troop at some point, but he’s obviously been alone for a while and he’s made it clear he wants to join our family. He’s just trying to figure out how he fits in, what he can and can’t do. We just need to give him some time to settle in...and also train him to have the right behaviors.”
“Is that why you’ve been putting fruit in your clothes?” Katara asked, watching Momo curiously pat Aang’s stomach.
“Yep!”
“...What kind of behavior are you even trying to get from that?”
It was at that moment that Momo decided to dive down Aang’s collar into his shirt. Aang giggled for a moment, while Katara winced at the idea of the lemur’s little teeth being so close to her friend’s skin. And then Momo came back out, a marble clutched in one little paw. He stared at it confusedly.
“Momo,” Aang said, and the lemur looked up - he was already growing used to his name. “Marbles please.” And then he switched the marble in Momo’s paw out with a berry. The lemur chittered, pleased, and stuffed the food in his mouth. Aang grinned. “Good boy!”
“You’re...training him to get things out of your pockets,” Katara said.
“Yep! Lemurs are great at getting stuff! That’s why we have them, you know - to fetch things.”
“Really?”
“Sometimes,” Aang said, with an air of experience, “you’ve got a whole herd of bison that you’re trying to keep on track, and one of the calves gets frisky, and you don’t have time to dive after your glider when it falls off the saddle. Or your kids are being rambunctious in the back while you’re trying to navigate and their favorite doll gets thrown overboard. Or you hit some turbulence and the map you were holding goes flying. Lemurs are great at diving after things!”
“Huh,” said Katara. She could see how that might be useful.
Momo had finished chewing on his berry, and he ran his hands over Aang’s bald head. Aang giggled.
“Now what’s he doing?” Katara asked.
“Trying to groom me, I think. Lemurs groom each other to show affection. I don’t have any hair, but they’d groom some of the older monks’ beards. And the girls had hair, they always loved grooming the girls…” Aang trailed off just as Momo lifted his head to look at Katara.
Katara blinked back.
Momo made a trilling little noise and hopped from Aang’s shoulder to Katara’s.
“Whoa - ”
“Hold still!” Aang said, delighted. “He won’t hurt you! Just let him do his thing.”
Katara felt little lemur hands pat over her hair and ear and the bun at the back of her head. “Eep,” she managed.
“He likes you!” Aang grinned.
It wasn’t so bad, Katara thought, holding perfectly still as Momo gently...what, petted her? It was weird, but it wasn’t awful.
Momo took another minute to paw through her hair before hopping from her shoulder down to her lap. He turned and looked up at Katara for a moment, and she stared right back at those big green eyes. Then, coming to some sort of decision, Momo turned and curled up in her lap, perfectly at ease, and he made an expectant chittering noise.
“You’d better repay the favor,” Aang told her.
Carefully, Katara ran a hand over one of Momo’s long ears. “Oh,” she breathed, as her fingers stroked fur softer than sealskin. “He’s soft.”
“Lemurs are super soft,” Aang agreed.
Katara eagerly sank both hands into soft lemur fur, and Momo was a happy purring puddle of trust in her lap less than five seconds later.

Thanks for reading! Kudos and comments are always appreciated, especially since I'm pretty sure I'm about to start A Day at work and I could use the positivity. <3
Notes!
Headcanon that flying lemurs, much like cats, domesticated themselves and humans went along with it. Also monkeys hanging out around temples where a lot of food offerings get left is indeed a thing that happens in the real world, so obviously lemurs would do that too.
I am pretty sure that the driving force behind the domestication of flying lemurs was, as Aang said, they're good at fetching things. Momo grabs so much stuff for the Gaang throughout the series - off the top of my head, marbles, spearheads Sokka had chopped off, a fish, the waterbending scroll, all that random junk when Sokka and Katara got sick (no one had trained him how to fetch water yet it wasn't his fault he didn't understand and he was trying!). Having an animal that can act as a companion and an extra set of hands sounds very useful when you're up in the sky all day.
Thanks for reading!
