I loved visiting Avid Reader and its partner shop in Brisbane! Since it was near the end of my trip, I was finally able to commit to the chunker of Carpentaria by Alexis Wright, and l also got a crocodile pin and a book about spiders!

Don’t know whether people would agree but I’m going with Bioshock: Rapture. People say they love the franchise & have never read the book when they really should. Gives so much more lore than the games themselves.

Okay so I really wanna start annotating but I don’t know what to write and I’m so gosh darn afraid of ruining a book, I sometimes think that it’s because I just cherish it a lot and don’t like it when it looks damaged but I wanted to highlight a line in a book and so I did, and I just feel sort of frustrated and wanna rip my hair out. I really feel like I have OCD or something lol, by the way, what do you do when you annotate and I know this feeling is very common amongst readers who also wanna annotate for the first time. Can you gimme some tips?

looking for alaska by john green and my thoughts on it

WARNING SPOILERS IF YOU HAVENT READ THIS BOOK YET THEN DONT READ THIS POST

I've heard some people say that looking for alska by john green has a bad representation of mental health and i have to disagree because as someone who strugles with mental illness i can relate to these characters especially alaska. When i read this book i was strugling with depression and suicidal thoughts and inside the book after alaska dies and everyones just left struggling wondering why it happened, how it happened, and if there was anything that couldve been done to prevent it struck a cord with me. It explicitly describes that feeling of loss and the confusion that comes with it. But to me it felt like it was describing what happens when someone commits suicide, or when anyone really dies.
