“How is he?”
Aizawa’s voice, normally gruff and sleep-heavy, sounds sharp and worried. His eyebrows are pinched tight on his forehead, and his hands are folded across his chest with an iron grip, as if barely keeping himself together.
Ken looks at Aizawa and sighs. “He talks and he talks and he talks, but he’s not really saying anything.”
Aizawa purses his lips.
“I don’t think speaking to me will be the breaking point.” Ken laces his fingers together and stares at them as he continues, “But he will, indeed, break. As you did, as I did, as we all did. And when that happens, perhaps, being in the dorms will offer some semblance of comfort.”
Ken looks up and waits till Aizawa catches his eye. “I will be here when he needs me. Until then, I shall continue our sessions, even if he just keeps talking without saying anything.”
Aizawa nods curtly, mumbles out a goodbye and walks back to his accommodation.
---
A hero never forgets their first.
The work is dangerous. Most days are easy and mundane, and then there are days where the hits keep coming. People get hurt, heroes get hurt, and villains get away. You even lose people, in the crossfire or because you were too late, and those wounds never fully heal, the scars faded and jagged, moving with your every move, a constant reminder.
And then there are the days when you feel the Earth beneath you crumble as you watch a child die. When you lose someone young, innocent, with baby fat on their cheeks and wide toothless smiles. Kids with scrapped knees, stars in their eyes, and the softest hair. Kids like Eri.
A hero never forgets their first child.
Aizawa watches Kaminari speaking animatedly with his classmates, eyes bright and body language lax, and feels his fists clench.
He sucks in a deep breath, pushes away any thoughts of blue hair and big, loud smiles and continues his lesson.
---
It’s Bakugou that stays behind in class one day, two and a half weeks after the incident.
“Something’s fucking wrong with Sparky.”
“Language,” Aizawa says automatically, before lowering his books and looking at the blonde. “How do you mean?”
“I don’t know, something is just. Since that day, he- Fuck, I don’t know.”
Aizawa lets this one go. “He’s been coming to class. He’s attended every therapy session with Cementoss. Lunch Rush tells me he’s eating well, and he seems-“
“His eyes-” Bakugou interrupts, nose scrunched in deep thought. “- his eyes are too bright. That’s not his usual, happy-go-lucky-idiot shine. They’re too bright.”
He stands up and pulls his bag over his shoulder. “His eyes feel artificial. He moves his body too much, every movement exaggerated, like he’s constantly compensating. Like he’s fucking pushing something down as hard as he can. And then, there are these moments-“ Bakugou stops just shy of the door. He looks over his shoulder but his eyes don’t seek Aizawa, instead glaring at the tiles near his feet.
“There are these moments when his eyes are vacant, like he’s not even in the same room as us.”
With that, Bakugou walks away and Aizawa finds himself thinking back to the past, the well-acquainted pain in his chest rising from slumber, squeezing till his heart feels like it’s about to break, shatter apart the way it did that day.
Because Aizawa and Hizashi grew up.
That day though, they lost Loud Cloud, who was nothing more than a kid. A young child, gone before he could ever learn just how terrible the world really is.
---
Kaminari attends class. He eats lunch with his friends, jokes around with them, trains every day, and sleeps in on the weekends. He never finishes his homework on time, calls his parents at least twice a week, and continues to go stupid when he overuses his quirk.
He also goes quiet more often, enough for Kirishima to pick up on it too. Bakugou watches Kaminari carefully, watches his eyes go vacant in the middle of movie night, watches him flinch when metal protests under the force of Midoriya’s quirk during training and watches his smiles get wider and more rigid, eyes so bright the fluorescent bulb in the common room dims in comparison.
There is nothing to do but wait.
---
It took Aizawa three months to break after Shirakumo.
Long after the cremation and the memorial and after the chatter picks back up in the hallways. He goes home one day, puts his bag on his desk and takes a seat, intent on finishing his homework. His pen is nowhere to be found so he yanks his desk drawer open-
Only to find a blue and white pen with the name Oboro etched into the body.
Aizawa thinks he hears a crack as his heart splinters and the tears begin, flowing freely. He bites into his forearm to keep from wailing, and he can’t see or breathe or feel anything past the wave of pain that drowns him.
With shaking hands and a complete lack of coherent thought, it takes him 14 minutes to type out a message to Hizashi. It takes the blonde another 8 minutes to get to his room, scoop him up and cry with him, and that wound never quite closes, always exposed, ever-present.
---
It finally happens on an average Wednesday, a month after the incident.
Aizawa’s just finished up with homeroom announcements, and as he straightens up the stack of papers on his desk, he hears Jirou.
“Kaminari, check out this mem- whoa, you ok, man?”
He looks at the blonde and startles when he sees the tears streaming down his face as he stares vacantly at his own hands.
Aizawa moves fast, because that’s what pros do- they calculate, they assess, they make split second decisions that spell life or death and everything in between.
He instinctually activates his quirk just as he whips his capture weapon out, pulling everyone around Kaminari away from him. Because he smells the static in the air, feels the prickles on his skin and he knows the boy is this close to losing complete and absolute control of his quirk.
Kaminari doesn’t acknowledge the chaos around him as people yell out in surprise and try to understand the situation. Aizawa keeps his eyes on Kaminari, and watches as Bakugou turns to Yaoyarozu and yells, “Make me some fucking insulated gloves now.”
Surprisingly though, it’s Shinsou that snatches the first pair and jumps across the desks to get to Kaminari, ducking down to his eye level, staying out of Aizawa’s line-of-sight.
“Hey, do you know where you are?”
Kaminari jerks at that, his eyes snapping over to Shinsou. They’re still vacant and hollow, lifeless. Shinsou keeps one glove on but leaves his other hand free.
“Kaminari, do you know where you are right now?”
Slowly, like he’s underwater, Kaminari swallows and shakes his head.
“Ok, that’s ok, take your time. I just want you to know you’re safe. Do you need anything right now?”
Kaminari looks around slowly, as if trying to understand what’s going on. He looks back at Shinsou and swallows thickly.
“There’s so much blood,” Kaminari says, and his voice sounds haunted. He bites his lip as a fresh pool of tears gather in his eyes.
“Get Cementoss,” Aizawa says to Shoji, his eyes still trained on Kaminari. They’re starting to feel a little dry and irritated, but it’s nothing he can’t handle. Bakugou is also by Kaminari now, hovering behind him protectively, keeping the others away.
“I don’t understand,” Kaminari suddenly says, voice clear and colored with genuine confusion. “How does a kid just die?”
He laughs, a slightly hysterical sound, before his eyes, wide and far too bright, whip over to Aizawa.
“Sensei, there’s no way that kid died, yanno? She was so tiny, barely up to my hip. And so cute, with a lisp. There’s no way she’s dead. Obviously.” He knocks his own head, a hard hit that makes Kirishima flinch, and Bakugou gently holds his arms, to keep him from hurting himself. Kaminari barely notices.
“Kids don’t die,” Kaminari says, his eyes boring into Aizawa’s. “Right, Sensei? They don’t. How can they? They’re too tiny. Someone that small can’t die.”
Aizawa’s eyes sting, and he can say it’s his quirk but he feels it in his heart, a bone-deep ache that’s just second nature to him.
“Kaminari, nobody can live forever.” He clears his throat, slowly walking around the table as he approaches the boy, holding his gaze. “Nothing is forever, not even the- not even the children.”
Kaminari’s eyes go vacant again. “That can’t be true, you know? Cause that means she’s gone.” He looks at Shinsou. “Her hands fit in my palm Toshi. Her entire hand. I don’t. There was so much blood, I can’t- how?” He reduces to nothing but a blubbering mess, and finally, he slumps sideways, right into Bakugou’s abdomen before he wails, the sound of a deeply wounded animal permeating into the very walls of the room.
Shinsou keeps a grounding grip on his knee while Bakugou pushes a hand into his hair, holding him close to his stomach. His own face is scrunched up, eyes red and daring anyone to say anything, to him or Kaminari.
Bakugou goes with him when Cementoss comes. They take Kaminari to the therapy room and Bakugou stays the entire time.
Aizawa turns to face his class again, once the chairs are moved back in place and the shock of it all simmers down, leaving behind an empty cavity in the very middle of the room.
“You never forget your first,” Aizawa tells them, speaking from his soul. “You will never forget your first, and I want you all to promise me that when it happens, you find me. You find somebody. You seek help. And you keep pushing forward. So that someday- “
He clears his throat and pushes through, “So that someday, there won’t be a first anymore.”
He watches his students nod before they turn to each other, looking up ways to help someone in Kaminari’s condition, using their time together as a reference for what will help the most. And Aizawa feels hope and pride gently coat his heart, a band-aid atop a deep, bleeding gash, but it’s something.
He thinks about bright blue hair, a smile that put the sun to shame and the warmth of a gentle soul.
You never forget your first.

May I request Bakugou and Jirou, they have dreams about this mysterious girl telling them something bad is going to happen if they don’t pay attention. And every time she appears in their dreams, sometime soon a life-threatening situation happens and they manage to avoid it because of her warning. And then they meet her in person and want answers?? The girl would have a Psychic/Premonition quirk!
i-if her quirk is Premonition how does she delve into dreams 🥴oh well my brain is tired let’s not sweat the details hehe
Tumblr media
Bakugo Katsuki
Tumblr media
○ when you first appear in his dreams and tell him to check his gear before he went training the next day he’s very very confused
○ he doesn’t pay any mind to your cryptic words until his gauntlet slips off while he’s fighting Kaminari and it causes him to lose the match
○ but it makes him mad to know that whatever you were, you had managed to predict what would happen to him, he doesn’t like that one bit
○ and from then on whenever you say something, he makes a point to go against whatever you tell him to do as if to spite you
○ even though he doesn’t even know if you’re a real person or just a figment of his imagination, either way he is /not happy/ that you seem to have more control over his life than he does himself
○ so when he sees you at the UA festival and learns you’re in his year in the general course, he immediately drags you off and demands for answers
○ after you explain that you have a premonition quirk, it makes a little more sense to him
○ but he still doesn’t get why you have to use your quirk specifically on him, but now that he knows there’s some validity in his dreams he starts to actually pay more attention to what you say
○ and when him listening to what you said in his dream helps him narrowly avoid being impaled in the chest with a steel beam and nearly dying for the first time he’s grateful that you had helped him
○ he’s way nicer to you after that, angrily making his way to your classroom to buy you lunch as a thanks for saving his life
○ “Fine, your fuckin’ quirk doesn’t suck that much, alright? I owe you one.”
Tumblr media
 Jirou Kyoka
Tumblr media
○ when you first appear in her dreams she’s convinced that you’re either an angel or her soulmate
○ you’re so pretty to her that she now looks forward to sleeping just to see you
○ and she listens to everything you tell her to do as well, ever since the first time she had listened to you and it had saved her from being ambushed by the other team in one of her training missions
○ she thinks of you as her guardian angel, asking her friends whether they knew why this was happening to her and if it was happening to them as well
○ she doesn’t get any answers though, so there’s really nothing she can do to try and figure out who you were and why you were always helping him
○ until one day she’s scrolling through her instagram feed and sees you in a group picture of the support course students
○ honestly she has no idea how she’d never noticed someone as pretty as you when you were going to the same school, but she’s more excited by the fact that you were, in fact a real person
○ but she tracks you down anyways immediately, itching to get some answers from you about why you were always protecting her
○ and you sheepishly explain that you had a premonition quirk that you had used to tell her about her future, choosing to help her because you admired her a lot and that you’d never expected for her to find out about your real identity
○ Jirou’s flattered to hear that you admired her too, and she asks you out on a date on the spot

PRIDE DRABBLES
Be me: Get bored and then write a bunch of drabbles trying to get over writers block and make them all gay cause Pride.
Summary: A collection of BNHA drabbles revolving around Izuku and various sexualities or gender identities. Various pairings.
Asexual
It’s nothing. Or well it’s nothing he likes to talk about. He and Fumikage have been dating for about three months, and it’s amazing. They cuddle and watch movies and have great dates together. It’s wonderful and perfect for both of them.
The only thing is when people (mostly the guys) bring up sex. They’re curious. Super curious. Izuku gets it- or well he gets the questions about kissing.
“Can you guys kiss?” Kaminari asked when they had been dating for a week. “I mean he’s got a bird head.”
“No, but we’re fine with other means.” Izuku has said and left it at that. Fumikage could run his hands through his hair or nuzzle him and Izuku could do similar things. They didn’t care that they couldn’t kiss.
But well there was the fact they wouldn’t stop asking. About sex that was.
 “Bet you two get wild.”
“Is it like a threesome with Dark Shadow?”
 “How far have you gone?”
It made Izuku want to scream.
He cuddled closer to Fumikage, trying to get the thoughts out of his head, placing his head right under his boyfriend’s chin. He felt exhausted after training yesterday and just wanted to nap.
“Getting lucky tonight?” Teased a voice and Izuku wanted to groan as he burrowed into Fumikage a bit tighter. Damn it why did it have to be Kaminari? He wouldn’t let it go. “All cuddly and shit?”
 “No,” Fumikage said bluntly.
 “To sore? Yesterday sucked.”
 “No,” Fumikage said in reply.
“What?! But neither of you are girls and insisting on waiting for it!” Kaminari said, earning a slap from Jirou. The rest of the class had slowly started looking over to them, drawn by the commotion. Some looked curious while one of two just looked annoyed.
“It’s none of your business,” Fumikage said shortly.
“He is most certainly right!” Iida spoke up stiffly. “Kindly leave them alone!” They did but they still got some looks. Izuku didn’t mind.
He’d known he was asexual for a while. It just wasn’t something he wanted to bring up to others just yet. Especially since Fumikage wasn’t asexual and Izuku didn’t want to deal with personal questions about that.
Izuku loved Fumikage. He really did, it was just sex made him go: NOPE. And back off. Fumikage acknowledged it and moved on. He told Izuku that while he was interested, sex to him wasn’t an actual need in a relationship. He compared it to a second helping of dessert. You didn’t need it but you would like it.
Izuku smiled, cuddling into his boyfriend.
 He had a great one.
Bisexual
When Ochako and Izuku broke up no one really thought much of it. Sure they were upset a bit because it seemed like they were a great couple but no one thought much. It was high school. People broke up all the time.
It was only when Ochako got caught making out with Tsu and Izuku was caught kissing Tenya that people started talking.
“Are they gay and just figuring it out?” Asked Mina as she watched Ochako and Tsu cuddle while Izuku blushed like a fire truck as Tenya actually picked him up to stop him from going out and training again after he’d worked out that morning.
“Were they each other’s beards?” Muttered Hanata, also watching.
“Or it could be because we’re both bisexual!” Ochako called out to them. Both blushed.
 Okay yeah, could be that.
Trans
He didn’t want to change in the locker room. Not in front of everyone.
It was stupid. It was so stupid. He had been on puberty blockers and hormones for years. He had no chest really and wore a binder mostly for his own benefit.
But he stood there and didn’t want to change. His hands shook a bit as he tried to breathe and tried to think. Okay, if he faced away from everyone they wouldn’t notice but he did have to take off his binder and that could lead to questions about why he had one…
“Hey,” a voice said and he jumped, turning to see the blonde with the black lightning bolt in his hair. The boy pointed further into the locker room. “Change rooms are that way if you want.” Izuku froze. Oh shit, was he not passing? How did- “whoa, hey it’s okay. Just thought you looked uncomfortable. I am to with getting changed in front of others.”  The boy grinned and nodded, leaving Izuku to stare after him before a grin spread across his face.
That was… really nice of him. Izuku felt his face heat up a bit and quickly went to get changed.
Whatever their teacher wanted had to be important.
Gay
Izuku coughed as Uraraka looked at him hopefully. He could tell half the class was watching as he tried to react to her confession.
“Uh…” he felt really awkward and by the look on her face, she knew it. “Uraraka… you’re a great friend. I do care about you but…” he looked even more awkward as he tried to politely say it. She was shaking her head, looking accepting when the classroom door opened and a purple-haired boy stepped in.
“Babe,” Hitoshi called out. “You’re late.”
“One second Hitoshi-“ Izuku began but stopped and then coughed as Uraraka jumped in surprise. “Sorry… but I’m…” he motioned to Hitoshi who looked confused.
“Oh… so uhhh… no chance at all?” Izuku shook his head.
“None. Even if I wasn’t dating him sorry…”
“No, no it’s fine.” She laughed awkwardly. “I’m… probably going to go eat a bunch of ice cream so… have fun?”
“Uhh yeah sorry.” Izuku quickly went to grab his boyfriend’s hand and drag him out of there, blushing. Hitoshi blinked.
“She asked you out? Izuku you’re gayer than I am.”
“Apparently I don’t look it,” Izuku shrugged before Hitoshi suddenly smiled. A smile that sent shivers down Izuku.
 “Well let’s fix that…”
It was going to be a very nice date.
Genderfluid
One thing about Bakugou that Izuku actually liked was that the first time she had worn the girl uniform at middle school he’d punched someone in the face who called her a slur. Those sort of thoughts had mostly died out with Quirks. After all- when someone could breathe fire or turn into a giant or anything who cared if your neighbour was kissing the same gender or about what was going on down there.
Still, it was common enough that Izuku had been nervous. At least until the guy was punched in the face.
Bakugou may have stopped being her friend years ago but he did not stand for that crap.
Izuku had been genderfluid for years it was just only in teenage years was the draw to a girl’s skirt was something the green teen felt. As a kid, it was more fun to run around and get dirty. She had worn the skirt plenty of times on girl days and even on occasion on a boy day.
But… she hadn’t yet worn it to UA. It was stupid, she knew that. The grape asshole had been thrown out of UA after the third day, and she knew one of her classmates was trans. No one cared but…
 Well, it was stupid.
“Ah! Mademoiselle-“ a voice said and she turned to see Aoyoma standing there. He blinked. “Ah! Midoriya… what perchance are your pronouns for the day?” She felt something in her heat ease.
“She her.” She explained, smiling. He bowed and reached for her hand, she let him take it, feeling her cheeks flush as he kissed it, grinning at her in an attempt to make her smile. It worked as her smile grew more.
“Allow me to escort you to class!” He bowed and she giggled, taking his arm and letting him walk her to their class. Everyone did look up and saw them walk in but no one really reacted other than blinking and shrugging. Iida did ask for pronouns but other then that life went on.
 Mostly.
Izuku did find herself often hanging around a blonde French-Japanese teen after that…
Lesbian
Izuku did not react to seeing Uncle Shou being the one teaching him. He managed to contain his surprise mostly. (Mostly) He was lucky that Bakugou didn’t say a single thing though he figured it was from the verbal lashing he’d gotten when they were ten and Izuku’s mom had started dating her girlfriend who had brought various pro-heroes into their lives and who had all ganged up to give a very firm discussing to the boy about his actions.
Izuku firmly did not react when he glanced at the syllabus and saw his mama would be teaching them. He firmly did not react to Tenya awkwardly trying not to react himself to the various names and people they knew.
He would not let it get out his mama was a pro hero and he had uncles who were and that he knew the entire UA staff who had all learned about One for All and had roasted the fuck out of All Might. He wanted a normal school life!
And then the door opened and his moms came into the classroom.
Izuku let his head drop into the desk, groaning while Bakugou groaned and Tenya winced in sympathy.
“Midnight-“ Uncle Shou began but Kayama interrupted him.
“SHOUTA I AM ENGAGED!” That got Izuku’s head snapping up.
“WHAT? MOM?!? MAMA?!?” Both women turned and beamed before Inko rushed over to hug him.
“I’m getting married honey!” Kayama ran over to hug him to, the three smiling.
“Congrats. We’re in the middle of-“ Uncle Shou tried but Kayama snorted.
“Please Shouta, it’s the first day and usually they’re gone in thirty minutes. We’re kidnapping our son to go to the courthouse.”
 “Courthouse?” Izuku asked. Inko snorted.
“I tried the fancy wedding and then your father decided to run off after I nearly threw him through a window for hitting me and trying to hit you. No fancy wedding needed here!”
“You are also super gay and your parents forced you into it as a Quirk marriage.” Kayama pointed out. Inko gave a shrug, acknowledging her point.
“Well, whatever the reason- come on honey! We got Hizashi as a witness and need to grab someone else…”
“I think Thirteen-“ Kayama began in a taunting voice but Shouta snapped the book he’d been reading from closed.
“Class dismissed for the day.”
Izuku snorted while his moms laughed, happy his mom was getting her happy ending.
Aromantic
He’d never thought about getting married and having a family. It was always hero course, being a hero, being the best her could be. Romance had never factored into his thoughts. Sure he found people attractive and he supposed he’d always assumed that the feelings would turn romantic or whatever but he’d never… thought about t.
Izuku had always been a little put off by all the romance in everything. Why did a cartoon about All Might punching people need a romance subplot between side characters? Why were papers focused on heroes’ love lives? Why did people care who was kissing who? There were more important things than romance!
It followed him through his high school career. He just didn’t get it even as people began dating. It was just… so weird and confusing. Sure he found people attractive and had some… thoughts about some of them but he just didn’t see the point of dating.
It eventually came to him researching. It always did. He dug into various sexualities and romantic statuses. That was how he discovered what he was.
Aromantic. He still felt sexual desire but the actual romantic part didn’t do anything for him. He felt like a weight had been taken off his shoulders and had focused more on his studies. He even found that while excessive romance made him gag he didn’t mind romantic stories that were done well. Even if he felt sometimes there was no need for them.
He didn’t pay much attention to the change of time and didn’t see much point in telling people until one day he went to class and found students all wearing pins.
“Deku!” Ochako chirped. “Happy Pride!” Izuku blinked and looked around to see people wearing pins showing various sexualities or gender identities. “Want a pin?” Something about how she said it made Izuku blink but in a split second he smiled and turned to Momo who was waiting.
“Hey, can I get an aromantic pin?” Momo blinked but smiled and nodded. Izuku didn’t notice some faces as he pinned the pin to his jacket, a half-smile on his face as others cheered.
 It was nice.
 Better then romance any day.

____________________________________________________________
Chapter 6
At the new information, I was receiving I stopped and put my hand up sighing out my anxiety then nodded slowly licking my lips “Excuse me” I asked slowly and stepped forward “Um everyone else gets a pair and one Pro. I get no pair and ten Pros” I was livid, I was losing my shit left right and centre. “Oh yeah” I nodded “Super fair” I had trained but ten Pros with ten different quirks and fighting styles.
“Y/N,” Aizawa said slowly and I waited for what he was to say “You are by far the strongest in your class, your quirk can be used in any situation. Your weakness is the amount, if we are all to fight you then we can see how you are truly travelling” he explained. My hands were gripped at my sides. There was no way I was going to pass. “You have one rule” he began and I laughed my eyes still downcast. “You must show your true self to at least one teacher at all times” he explained.
I was now just standing there nodding as I licked my lips and then sighed out, again trying to understand this information “So basically I’m failing before I even take the test” pursing my lips I blinked harshly trying to hold back my tears. I wasn’t going to pass and I knew they had noticed my change in attitude.
“No” Midnight began and I looked down. “We are testing you, you are so strong” the teachers hadn’t thought of what would happen if I failed did they. I shook my head and grit my teeth. How could I beat ten pro heroes not to mention All Might himself?
My peers were silent as I stood there seething in anger. What was I supposed to do? I couldn’t fight ten Pros. I was so confident about this and now I was about to burst into tears and just tear myself apart right here. All the sleepless nights, all the coffee and panic attacks, all the studying and running my body into the ground to then have an impossible task thrown at me.
I shook my head slowly and then whispered out “Let’s just get this over with” I had to watch every single second of everyone's fights. I had to learn everything. I wasn’t going down without a fight. We walked in and I moved to the front sitting down in front of the TV my legs to my chest. I couldn’t even blink. My heart was about to combust. I felt faint. I was glad they saw potential but not ten Pro heroes potential. My objective was to escape. I was about to cry.
The teachers were talking about how we could run away, I didn’t have a choice. The teachers also wore bracelets to add half their weight, it would slow them down but with ten Pros it wouldn’t help. The first fight was on Kirishima and Sato against Cementoss. They went for direct, a bad decision but my eyes widened as they broke through the walls of cement. They had limits while Cementoss doesn’t, Cementoss was so fast and had no limit. I would have to cage him quickly and somewhere not near cement. A cage should do the trick but they took quite a bit of brainpower. It would have to be done, I could hear conversations behind me but this was far more important. I had to pass and I had that stupid rule I had to follow. I held my legs tighter, Cementoss was long-distance and had no limit. I had to remember that. The fight was over within a few minutes.
Then was Tokoyami and Tsu, ectoplasm had cloned. If he was in an illusion could he still use that? I couldn't even find out if I wanted to before I fought him. I continued to watch as people walked in and out. How many clones could he make, could he see through them? What was his limit? There were just so many to fight, this looked impossible. I watched as Tokoyami destroyed them, so they looked easy to destroy. I would have to find the original quickly. I knew how to control clones but were they the same as my own. My eyes widened as I saw him make a giant one of himself, how could I go around that. How could I win with a power like this? Ectoplasm also had a lot of power with close combat and distance. I had to bit that. I was shaking, my fingers digging into my legs as I leaned forward watching the next fight.
Iida and Ojiro, Powerloader could dig underground and hide. I would have to find a way to stop him. Though the boys won fairly quickly, speed was their key. Even though Powerloader is quick underground he wasn’t too fast on land plus he needed machines for his quirk to work. I could suspend him in the air and he would be useless. My speed was good but if he made it underground I wouldn’t have much of a chance. I would have to get him out of his little machine.
Then came Todoroki and Yaoyarozu against Aizawa. He was my biggest issue. He needed to be taken out immediately when I fought him, he could erase my quirk and I would be useless. I could rely on my physical abilities but it would still be not enough. Within seconds Todoroki was suspended and spiked objects placed beneath him with his partner now running for the exit. Aizawa also had his scarf, I had to worry about. They would come to me with everything they got. I had to think fast and hard, I wouldn’t be able to stop. His quirk stopped when he blinked, if I got caught I’d have another chance. Eraserhead was swinging through the air like it was nothing, what area would I be put in. Todoroki was still in the air as Yaoyarozu ran up to him but Erasurehead was on his way. They were yelling at each other trying to work together in the middle of the exam? Not the best time but still there nonetheless. The light then blinded Aizawa making him have to regain his sight then Aizawa was off again. Sure his quirk had lessened but it was still a lot we had to deal with. An ice wall and then Aizawa was blocked. I was only focused on Aizawa for this fight. I had to figure this out, how could I beat him? Yaoyorozu threw another scarf at him but when heated returned to its original shape, a metal. Clever but not something I could do. They won, though I couldn’t win with their strategy.
I gripped my legs tighter if that was possible at this point. I was ignoring everything and everyone around me. People were talking to their partners figuring out strategies but all I could do was think. That’s all my quirk was, thoughts projected into the world. I breathed out trying to calm myself as I closed my eyes. Ten Pros, one me. I had to think faster than ever, my brain would be having ten different thoughts at the one time. I had to win, I had to show everyone I was better.
No. 13 was just sucking, if I put someone in front of her she would have to close, she may not be a hero today for this exercise but she would never intentionally hurt someone. I found that out when her pair competed against her. The second Uraraka got to close she stopped her quirk, still a hero at heart. I smirked, they were all still heroes at heart.
I was still sitting as I heard Iida and Yaoyarozu walked in talking to Midoriya and Tsu. Nezu was up, I didn’t know his quirk. Then the area began to collapse around Mina and Kaminari. I was watching so closely as I heard Yaoyorozu talk and I sighed silently. He was smarter than everyone and could think faster than I could attack. Everyone had to be taken out quickly. The pair lost and I put my head in my legs to try and calm down. How in the hell could I fight someone so much smarter than me, I had to think faster then he could.
Koda and Jirou, all sound quirks. I watched them as they ran through the woods. The camera added Mic who was unimpressed with having to wait and within a second he yelled, voice loud and barreling through the woods. My eyes widened, I could create something sound cancelling, all my illusions could be it was the fact I’d still hear him. A box may be, just place all ten teachers inboxes. Another quirk that was going to have to be ended quickly though he had to breathe, right? Or could he breathe through his quirk? I was at a loss of what to do. He made her ears bleed, his voice made her ears bleed. I was in disbelief, he wasn’t caring. The ground began to rumble beneath him and then Present Mic was covered in bugs, ok so he didn’t like bugs. Good to know.
I knew Snipe well, his fighting style and thought process. He was fast and knew where everyone was though he struggled when we fought close combat and when I made clones. It’s going to be a lot to think about all at once but this is something I had to do. I could win, with each match I was getting more excited but nervous.
Midnight was strong if her quirk reached me I would just fall asleep, it came from her skin, I could have to cover her in something but I had heard it worked better on guys than girls. But what if said girl also didn’t just like guys. I was screwed, I would have to keep her covered. Not too hard but still another thought I had to make, something seemingly impossible. Midnight also had her whip, I had to get her immobilized quickly and keep her there. I didn’t know how far her scent could go. Immobilization was my best bet.
Finally All Might, the top hero. Everyone knew him, I mean how could you not, he was legendary. The number one hero to this day, both Bakugou and Midoriya were versing him but I had to do it alone with other Pros helping him. Bakugou was ignoring Midoriya all together, he was mad. If he was mad about being paired with Midoriya I couldn’t imagine the anger that I gotta do it myself. They weren’t working together. With the swing of the hand, a whole road was taken out by All Might. I had to go up against that, All Might in villain form. What could I do with something like this at his disposal? Bakugou was moving too quickly but when he was pushed into the ground I stood up quickly leaning over the bars to watch more closely. Two of the strongest people in my class were getting beat. Bakugou was just walking toward All Might not a care in the world, he was so strong and confident. Bakugou had been punched and I grimaced looking away before my breathing began to pick up, I knew my peers were watching my semi meltdown. My eyes were darting around the screen as I bit my lip in anger. Bakugou looked so angry and beat as Midoriya punched him out of the way from another hit. Midoriya was carrying Bakugou with him but my eyes were darting everywhere. I was confident but now my heart only raced in fear. My whole body was shaking as I watched them. Another hit from Bakugou, more hits but Midoriya had one of his gauntlets. The hit was massive and explosive I looked around but All Might was up within a few seconds. How in the hell did he get back up, I couldn’t face him with other Pros. He was so strong I could hold him down? Place him in a box? Control him? Fear tactic? God what would work. I was biting my fingers in fear as I tried to figure out how to win. Bakugou was just kicked away then Midoriya was thrown into him. They were at his mercy. I couldn’t beat him in physical strength but I could lock him away, it would take a lot of energy but I think I could do it. Midoriya was hurtling towards the exit, I had to make it to my exit. All Might was faster even with his bracelets he was faster. Locking him away would be my best bet, my only chance at winning. I was going to win, I was going to work my body and mind harder than ever. Bakugou had such strong attacks, how could he do this. How could he use such power and not fall, how could he do this? I was at a loss, Bakugou had so much strength in his body, so much raw power and stamina. The boys were then running to the exit. They won, they both fucking won. I had to verse that, if they could win, I could win, right?
When they won my legs collapsed as I fell to the ground, All Might would take a half an hour break then it was my go. I was shaking on the ground my breathing harsh and loud Recovery Girl ran to me.
“Y/N breathe” I couldn’t breathe, how could I even think to breathe going up against them. “Y/N you need to breathe” I was going to fail, I was never going to become a hero. They gave an impossible mission, something I couldn’t do. I had nothing, how could I win this. “Y/N” she was yelling in my ear as I sucked in the air but never out.
My head was grabbed and I looked up to see Todoroki on his knees and looking into my eyes “Y/N you need to breathe” he breathed slowly and I tried to copy and then just looked down as I breathed out then in Oxygen flooding my cells.
“I’m going to fail” I looked around, Todoroki and recovery girl were the only ones here, then others I’m sure going to see Miodoriya. “I can’t win, my quirk can’t beat ten Pros” I whimpered, Todoroki now kneeling in front of my crouched figure.
“I believe in you” he whispered and I rose my head, why was he always around when I was a mess. “You can win, your quirk is amazing, you’ve been training and studying for so long. Don’t let a little stress take away your future” he was right. I nodded as I sighed out licking my lips.
“You’ve been watching them, I know you know all their weaknesses” I nodded agreeing “You just need to put them in use. You can do it” I wasn’t sure if she was allowed to encourage me but I appreciate it nonetheless.
I stood up shakily and nodded sternly, I had been a mess these last few weeks. I knew how to win, everyone began to walk in as I narrowed my eyes. I had to be confident, smirking I turned to Recovery Girl “Make sure to have the volume up” she nodded. Minutes ago I was having a panic attack but I took a page from Bakugou, turning anger in power. I had to use everything every ounce of anger I had. I squeezed Todorokis’ hand as I passed and then I was walking off out the door and down the halls.
I waited for my time, I was in the field, they didn’t think it was fair if my area had already been destroyed. Cementoss was useless here, Midnight wouldn’t use her quirk near the others, Erasurehead would try and go for me immediately I had to hide from him. All Might had to be restrained, No. 13 placed in front of someone, Cementoss. Present Mic facing Eraserhead, couldn’t use his quirk. Ectoplasm is occupied with my clones as well as Snipe. I could make more than thirty, I could make a hundred. It was all thoughts. Power loader suspended or occupied and Nezu had to be kept quiet, he is too smart he’d talk to the others.
Once I was in the field the time started, I thought of how my mother reacted when I won the sports festival, her ignoring me for a week then yelling at me every day. I thought about Bakugou not seeing me as a threat, my mother making my life a living hell. I was walking through the forest, they wouldn’t move until they could see me I knew that. Anger was running through me, I was angry I came first in class, I was angry I was the only one doing my test. I was angry at my father for always taking my mothers' side, I was angry at my peers for not standing up for me. I was angry that after this I had to go home, I was angry I was in this god damned position. I was angry at it all. I was so mad. I spread my arms out and then there were about fifty of me. I began to run, I had to run. I had to be faster than everyone. I had to think faster, move faster.
Coming into the field the teachers were stunned. I was hidden from Eraserhead, all of the clones moved in unison, one thought, I couldn’t see Power Loader, underground but he wouldn’t put the teachers in danger. I jumped half of the clones following I was running on an illusion, three thoughts. Midnight couldn’t use her quirk around the teachers, she had to stay with them but she also had her whip which was caught and pulling her through the field.
Then the clones came, I was fast fighting them quickly and easily. Ten thoughts. I was looking everywhere. Though a group of myself was running forward straight at them. “You all have weaknesses” I called out smirking making sure every illusion was talking and having the same expression.
“She is trying to keep us together” Nezu called out and they began to try and run in different directions. My hands came down to the ground sending waves through the Earth and walls around them.
“Do you think you can run that easily” I was running again. I had to keep thinking. Faster, faster. With a swivel of my hands, Nezu had his mouth covered and was suspended in the air. All Might tried to help him, occupied.
“I can’t see the original, she’s hidden” Eraserhead called out and then he moved to try to eliminate my copies, going physical then turning back to permeable. My clones landing hits he could not deflect. Snipe was shooting but the bullets went through the clones.
“I’m not stupid” I screamed and grabbed No. 13 as my original self, her suit opened I moved to create the illusion of Cemetoss falling into her grasp, she screamed loud and deafening. She stopped and panicked as I placed the real one in front of her stopping the illusion. They were pressed to each other covered in mist.
“You may be pretending to be villains but you are still Heroes at heart, isn’t that right” I smirked, Nezu was trying to escape so holding my hand tighter he was constricted with All Might trying to release the mist. I had to stay near the other teachers. Mic and All Might couldn’t use their quirks plus All Might was busy. “Real villains wouldn’t care who they hurt” I could see All Might looking around as I ran at him full force sending a weighted foot into his rib as he went flying. Nezu was left alone as I glared at the creature then running off going invisible to him, this was a lot. Maybe thirty thoughts at once. There was so much going on. I fell to the ground “Hello Mic” I whispered as he screamed. I covered my ears, they said I had to let one teacher see. I let Cementos see my body fall to the ground holding my ears.
“She’s down” and I was quickly up as another shout came bringing my body to the ground. I couldn’t hear. The illusions faulted shaking and stopping for a moment. No this is not how I would lose, my hands dug into the ground to somehow bring my thoughts back, my ears hurt so much.
Bugs, he doesn’t like bugs. My eyes turned and then there was an army of bugs crawling up his body. Physical and going beneath his clothing, they felt real and the scream was real too. Covering my ears again as he tried to get them off him. “It’s just an illusion isn’t it” I whispered and stood to shake my head. Mic was still screaming and I turned the male towards Ectoplasm who in turn went flying to the other side of the field his clones dissipating into the air “You all care far too much” I was so mad, my head hurt, my body hurt. Forty thoughts. “You all thought I couldn’t win” I grit out and let Eraserhead see me for only a moment, not long enough to erase my quirk, I just needed a second. “You have to be faster” I whispered and he sent out his little scarf. All Might was running back over now. I simply distorted and he was crashing into Aizawa as I flipped back onto an illusion. “Power Loader is useless if you’re all in the same place, he wouldn’t risk hurting any of you” I yelled and then Power Loader was coming out of the ground. An illusion of children, his biggest fear. Not being able to save them “Watch out Power Loader, wouldn’t want them to get hurt” then they were falling and he was digging into the ground. Forty-five thoughts.
I could feel Nezu trying to escape, he was persistent but I had a strong grip on him. Cementoss and No. 13 were doing the same I gripped them tighter. “You think you can win that easily” All Might yelled across the field and I jumped into the sky far above them landing in a piece of physical illusion. I was stationed above them my eyes moving wild as I thought of everything. Snipe and Ectoplasm on the other side fighting clones and trying to work together.
“It pissed me off that I was the only one to do a test like this” I could see Cementoss, No. 13, Power Loader and Midnight struggling, Midnight was being held back by vines encircling her. I had forgotten about her but still kept the illusion going. Mic was still trying to get bugs off him still, trying desperately as they crawled over his body. Eraserhead looking around frantically. Nezu still cocooned. All Might was looking around as well, back to back with Eraserhead. Ectoplasm fighting a ton of clones with Snipe. “Bakugou should have got this” I called out and I was falling from the sky my legs covered in weights I came down landing a hard hit on All Mights' shoulders sending him to the ground “Todoroki as well, even Midoriya” I grit out moving to flip out of the scarfs way waving around the place. I was on the opposite side of the exit path. If I ran I could get there. I was flown back by a gust of wind, All Might. I landed harshly pain flaring in my back, landing on the ground and my illusions fell.
“Gotcha” I tried to use them but I looked to Eraserhead who was staring straight at me the rest of the teachers following. No this is not how I would lose. I didn’t know how much time I had left. I was running full speed angry and losing my mind.
“This was an impossible task” I screamed flipping over Cementoss and landing to make No. 13 fall to the floor. I threw myself back my hand landing on the ground as I flipped myself back a few times.
“I can’t predict anything” Nezu yelled as he came to move out of the way as I jumped around. Making sure to always have a teacher between me and another. Then the clones came. I was moving quickly, he had to blink. He had never held it this long since the USJ. I was running out of breath and stamina.
“You can’t predict instinct” I answered and one of the ectoplasm clones hit Mic as I dropped to the ground bending my back and then rolling the side. I was looking around frantically. I tried to push illusions as I wrapped my legs around Snipe sending myself back my hand grabbing the ground and sending him into Ectoplasm. “I never said I didn’t have physical abilities” I had to go faster.
I felt my quirk return, he blinked. I was livid, every single angered thought I had ever had came rushing back. I screamed loud and over the field, as I slammed my hands down on the ground, there were too many thoughts. I continued to scream, the mist taking over my body. I was not going to lose, I was the best. I had to hide from Eraserhead but he would have to put in eyedrops before his next use.
My body covered in the mist as I sent out shock waves sending the Pros back. More clones fighting, I was thinking so fast, copies moving insanely fast as I screamed “I will not lose to you” I felt my hair go over my eyes. “I refuse to lose” I screamed and then I was up and running. Running through them with speed unknown to my body. My legs ached and my head was pounding. I jumped high and sent my hand in a downward motion spiked illusions embedding into the ground “You all thought you could beat the next Number one hero, You’re wrong” I was so angry, throwing my arms out they were all collected and left in the air. So many thoughts “Now” They could all see me, eyes wide and dangling in the air as illusions ran across the field, there were so many “Watch me win” I grit my teeth and I was running off. I was on overload, my thoughts coming like the speed of light, Eraserhead couldn’t erase my quirk if he couldn’t see me. I placed the mist over his eyes. All these thoughts were my ultimate move, a move that no one could beat. I ran to the exit and with my heart racing and body shaking, I let Eraserhead see me as I walked past the threshold and turned back to them all, mist covering my body as they all stared in amazement.
I had won, I let the illusions fall and I swayed, I won, all the power faded and I felt my body ache as I looked to the teachers, I won, I fucking won. My mind was moving so quickly and my eyes rolled back as I fell forward my body giving way. I was falling quickly and then I hit the ground twitching, I had thought too much. Thoughts were running so fast I couldn’t keep up, my body couldn’t keep up with the commands. I felt my hand twitch.
“Y/N” I was hoisted in someones’ arms. My eyes fell open but it was blurry and then we were running at least I think we were I could feel my body lightly bouncing, my arm hung over the side of whoever was holding me. “Y/N” I heard again but I couldn’t move my body. I hurt so much, was I hurting, no. I wasn’t in pain my brain was just moving too quickly for my body to follow.
“Bring her here” I heard. I could still hear, my vision blurred but there were voices. So many voices. “Midnight, knock her out” and within seconds my vision went black and my mind went blank. The sweet bliss of sleep.
-
I could hear people talking, my head hurt. I couldn’t open my eyes “Is she going to be ok” that sounded like Aizawa. “She’s been out for days” he added. Had I been out for that long? I did feel rested but my head hurt. Thoughts, they came rushing back and I replayed my fight. I had collapsed after it.
“Her brain went into overload and shut down everything but her normal bodily functions. I don’t know how long she’ll be out but from the scans, she’s fine” A doctor maybe, I heard a thank you and then there was movement.
“I knew we shouldn’t have pushed her that far” Midnight? Her voice was soft as I felt someone touch my hand the hand twitching lightly at the contact from another. “She fought so hard” I did, I put my all into it.
“She did” Snipes’ country sounding voice rang through soft and mellow “When Aizawa erased her quirk she didn’t run, she fought. I couldn’t fight against the nine other teachers alone and yet she did with no fear” he sounded proud. Be proud of me, I won. I beat you all, I tried so hard to be the best.
“Her parents refused to come to see her” Aizawa whispered and I heard a sigh come from my other ear. Aizawa on my right, Midnight holding my hand and I think Snipe was in front of me it was hard to gauge without my eyes open. “She’s trying so hard to be the top hero with all this stress. We shouldn’t have done it” I could hear the regret. Don’t regret facing me, I wanted it. I was scared and I panicked but during that fight. I felt alive, I felt like I could take on the world and I did, I won.
“Why would they refuse” I felt a thumb rubbing over my hand slowly, pittily. Don’t pity me, my parents never cared there was no need to be sad. “I can’t imagine not seeing my child if they were like this” I could hear her sniffle.
“They said they were busy” Aizawa answered and Midnights' soft hand gripped my hand tighter, I tried to hold it back. Nothing happened. I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't, I couldn’t even move my lip or finger. I felt my hand twitch a few times but other than that I was still. “I don’t know how she’s coping with that and then school”
“She’s not” was that Bakugou. His voice was deep and I heard the stomps coming into the room. Was Bakugou coming to see me? My heart fluttered and I was glad I wasn’t connected to the heart monitor.
“No she isn’t” If my breathing could catch it would have, it was Todoroki. Had they come to see me? Who else had come to see me over the days, was my class worried about me? Did I do good in their eyes?
“She wasn’t sleeping, she came to Yaoyarozu’s study session of a day then came to Kirishima and my own of night and proceeded to go home and study. We asked her when she had last eaten and she couldn’t remember” Bakugou was outing me to the teachers wasn’t he, though his voice didn’t hold the same vigour it usually did. He sounded, sad.
“Her parents yell at her” Todoroki, why were all my secrets being placed out in front of me like it was nothing. “She got calls at study sessions and it was just her being yelled at. Her mother made her wait for hours after school to pick her up. I sat with her” was this important information that needed to be out in the open.
“And yet she still gets up every day, trains and comes to school on time, takes notes and can get the best grades” I could hear the smile from Aizawa as he laughed lightly and continued “She deserves to be a hero”
My eyes were blinded to the light flooding my eyes, I was crying, again. I cried so much, so many emotions. At the sound of a shaky breath everyone looked to me I was moved into a sitting position as my hands came to my face and I cried. I felt Midnight rub my back as I sobbed into my hands.
“I just want to be a hero” I whimpered and when my head rose I shook my head “I just want people to be proud of me” I wanted to save people, for someone to look at me and tell me I was the reason they were pursuing their goals. I wanted to show the world that even though I have a deceiving quirk I can still be a hero.
“I’m proud of you” I looked up tears streaming down my face as I saw Todoroki nod encouragingly “The whole class is. We were all screaming for you during your match” I listened so intently. I always feared the class didn’t like me. “I’m sure Bakugou is proud of you,” said blonde was elbowed in the ribs. I smiled, wobbly and uneven but smiled.
“Bastard” he grits out and leaned to one side and his head fell to a tilt and huffed crossing his arms “Yeah whatever” he whispered and turned way. I would take what I could get from the angry blonde.
“All the teachers are proud of you” My eyes left my peers and I looked to Aizawa who nodded happily a smile on his features. “I can promise you every single teacher and Pro in Japan is proud of you. Your video has been sent to agencies so they can see what they have to fight for. Something we do during the finals and we would've passed you if you just evaded getting captured but you won fair and square” I was crying again and I felt my shoulders shake as I nodded.
“Thank you” I whispered and looked up at all the people “Thank you all” I nodded and sighed out. Moving my legs as I felt the blood rush down. “I hope I can improve and be the best hero you’ve ever seen” I nodded and all the teachers did too.
I spoke for a while more and the teachers were off “Thanks for saying I deserved to fight them all” Bakugou huffed out and I smiled moving my hand slowly to pat his. He had moved to the side of my bed.
“I meant it” his eyes widened “I’m not kidding, I didn’t think I was going to win. I mean who would but I used your anger tactic and just lit the fuse” I nodded and his face was blank “You were a major factor to my victory” my eyes moved to Todoroki “You too if you didn’t help me calm down. I don't think I would have survived until the end” I nodded. “For that, I thank you both” I nodded.
They both sat with me and Bakugou pulled out food and I couldn’t help the laugh that rang through my hospital room. “Shut up” he yelled and placed the bowl on the hospital table pushing it over my bed.
“Thank you Bakugou” Todoroki moved to sit on the bed as I moved to cross my legs. We continued to talk and we spoke about my fight. Partway through the conversation “You two came together” I asked moving forward to eat some rice.
They turned to each other and I watched Todoroki smile “we were both worried about you, we’ve come for the last few days. Aizawa stayed here for a night and everyone in the class has come at least once” he explained and I nodded smiling.
“I wasn’t worried” Bakugou yelled and I could hear a few pops from his palm, Todoroki and Bakugou began to bicker. Bakugou mostly yelling and Todoroki being his calm and charming self.
“You were the one who asked to stay after visiting hours because you were worried” the blonde flushed and moved his hands around. They looked like a couple if I was honest. My heart did the fluttering thing. I wouldn’t mind dating them.
I paused my mouth open rice hanging in my mouth. What did I just think, no? I thought to all our encounters, I always got happy and my heart sped up. Do I have a crush on not only one boy but two? Two boys who seemed to hate each other. I looked back to them as they argued. They acted like a couple, they did come together. Were they a thing? A secret thing? I had noticed them eating lunch a few times, walking the same way. Sharing notes. Were they together? Oh no, did I have a crush on two gay men? Or were they Bi, Pan, Demi?
“Are you ok Y/N” shaking my head I turned to Todoroki as a hand was placed against my forehead. I flushed “You’re heating up, do I need to get a doctor” his voice was so plain but I had to admit I found it appealing. It was nice and soft to the ear. Something I could easily listen too forever.
“No” I stuttered and shook my head quickly Bakugou raising an eyebrow “I’m fine, I am” I continued and waved my arms around before digging back into the food “The food is good, did you make it,” I asked trying to change the topic.
A cross of his arms and a firm nod he smirked “Of course I made it and it’s good. You liked the spice from the noodles I gave you so I made something similar” I smiled, of course, he was also good at cooking, why wouldn’t he be he was good at everything else.
“You’re cooking is quite good. I like your cold soba” Todoroki nodded and Bakugou rolled his eyes. Bakugou makes food for Todoroki, I didn’t think they hung out but from the look of it, it wasn’t a one-time thing.
“The best soba is hot and spicy not your weird ice cold shit” Bakugou shook his head and then began to retell a recipe with such great detail I followed every single word as we went along, I felt like I was making it. Then pointed out all the negatives of cold soba and positives of hot and spicy soba.
“I still like cold soba” Todoroki shrugged and the blonde huffed turning away. Did they meet up, study or something? Were they friends. I knew Bakugou didn’t like Midoriya and Todoroki and Midoriya are friends so by relation he wouldn’t like Todoroki but it seemed that was false.
“You can like it but it’s still not the best” Bakugou was really in tune with his food, very passionate. I could cook pretty well but from the food he had given me, his technique and skills were well above my own.
“I beg to differ” Todoroki simply stated and then they were talking about something else. Todoroki was about the only person who seemed to be able to hold a normal conversation with the explosive teen.
“I’m glad you two are getting along” they both looked confused as they turned to my body, holding the bowl in one of my hands as the other holding the chopsticks. They looked to each other and then looked back “I mean from the festival, you two seem to be getting along” I smiled and nodded to the two who had blank stares and confused eyes “I’m happy”
They didn’t question it, a few more hours in the hospital, I was allowed out. Help from the boys I was asked to contact a parent to come and pick me up. I held the phone to my ear as I heard the phone call.
“What do you want?” My mother picked up and I could hear she was in the car, the phone clicking over to the new device. I didn’t know how to respond, I didn’t want a fight but I was very lethargic and tired.
“The doctor asked me to call a parent to pick me up from the hospital” I answered and the line went silent. I pulled the phone away from the screen flashing allowing me to know the conversation was still going, I was surprised she hadn’t hung up. I mean she didn’t want to come to visit me from the information I was provided.
“You got yourself into that mess you can get yourself out” and with that, the line dropped. I licked my lips and turned to the doctor who in turn looked to the ground in pity. I locked my phone and placed it in the jumper Bakugou let me borrow.
“Um, I’ll get my way home. I’m ok” I nodded and the doctor left. I looked down and sighed. I saw the boys looking me over as I fluffed the pillow anxiously. “Thanks for the jumper Bakugou. I’ll wash it before giving it back”
“It’s fine, I don’t wear them often. I get too hot” I nodded in understanding, his quirk was sweat based so I couldn’t blame him for getting overheated. I liked it though, it was a lot better than just wearing my hero costume. It was long and much larger than I, fluffy as well. A gauntlet on the back, he said it was a gift from his dad. “We’ll take you home” the words were mumbled but I caught them.
“I’m just fine. My mother is just busy, you know mum’s on a mission. Always out” I breathed out slowly my voice falling “And about” who was I kidding. She didn’t care, she couldn’t care less about me.
“No, we will take you back. I was dropping off Bakugou anyway. My father has someone to drive me around. If I drop you off they get paid more it’s a win-win” Todoroki was good at convincing people efficiently and easily. Natural.
We were out the door and loading into the car. It was fancy, a limo. His dad was the number two hero and strived to show everyone just how important he was. I guess it was a perk but I knew he wasn’t the nicest man ever. I simply sat back and let my mind rest. It was almost an hours drive.
“Don’t you live in a rich area?” Bakugou asked when he told the driver the address, coming to sit back down with Todoroki and I. Crossing my legs on the seat I nodded.
“Kinda, both my parents work in big businesses, they think it's a personality trait” I answered and got a stern nod like he knew what I was talking about. Maybe his parents were the same, maybe not. Maybe he was just good at people and no one knew.
We talked in the car and as I was stepping out I went to take the jumper off, I was home now. I could give it back having only worn it for just over an hour. “Keep it, it’s fine. Dad will be happy someones’ getting use out of it” he was so nice. I thanked them both again as Todoroki helped me get my bags I had brought to school. I waved “I’ll see you both tomorrow” and with that, they were off.

Title: A Dragon’s Magic Chapter 9 Pairing:  Kacchako Rating: M Word Count:  8,307 Summary: Uraraka Ochako has always believed in dragons, though she was constantly told they were long since extinct. Now an adult and professional mage, she’s ready to help her parents as a healer for their village. The last thing she expects is for her beliefs to become a reality, but when a dragon attacks her village, she learns there’s more to magic than she ever could’ve realized. Read on AO3 Thanks to @its-love-u-asshole for reading this over.
The wind blew her hair about and Ochako clung to Kirishima's neck. It was terrifying, being so high in the sky. They were flying above the clouds! At one point, she peered over Kirishima’s side, but quickly covered her mouth, feeling nauseous at just the thought.
"Are you okay, Uraraka?" Todoroki asked, yelling over the wind.
"Y-Yes!" she stammered. "Just a little nauseous!"
"Can't take you anywhere Uraraka," Bakugou snorted.
"S-Shut up! I've never been this high before!" she cried out.
Todoroki couldn't help but laugh. "It is overwhelming, if not amazing," he stated, peering over towards the clouds himself.
Now Ochako finally understood why the dragons flew mostly unnoticed. It was difficult to see through the clouds and if it wasn't something a person's eye sought out, it would be impossible to find.
The island took them quite a while to fly to. The sun set, and Ochako knew she dozed off, her arm wrapped around the chain. She was honestly still exhausted, her magical current slowly replenishing itself.
She was shook awake by Todoroki's hand, and jolted up, her hair frazzled and drool slipping from her lips. "Are we there?!" she gasped, looking around. The sun was now beginning to rise, and Ochako was surprised she slept for so long.
"We are," Todoroki nodded. "We need to hold tight while Kirishima takes us down below the clouds.
Blinking, Ochako nodded, trying to force herself awake. The longer she thought about it, the more excited she grew. She was finally going to meet dragons and see where they lived! She truly hoped they all weren't as grouchy as Bakugou.
Kirishima let out a loud road, and dove down, his head leaning forward as he ducked below the clouds, the island almost immediately coming into view. "Wow," Ochako breathed.
It was far larger than she initially imagined, though she supposed if an entire species lived there, it would have to be large enough to fit a big amount of them. There were fields of lush green grass and a giant lake in the middle. Mountains lined the edges, and they stood tall, capped by snowy peaks.
"I can't believe it..." she muttered. "It's huge..."
"How small did you think it would be?" Bakugou snorted.
"I dunno!" Ochako scoffed. She found herself still frustrated by him. There were so many questions she wanted to ask, about dragons, about them, and she knew he most likely wouldn't answer them. Bakugou sucked at answering questions. On top of that, she didn't want to talk about it when Todoroki was around, or Kirishima. And they were about to be surrounded by hoards of dragons. It was only going to get worse from here on out.
Sighing, she stared at the mountains. They were truly beautiful, and she wondered what it was like growing up here. Did dragons transform and race around the mountains? Did they swim in the giant lake ever? Did they have villages too? She supposed she was about to find out.
"Get ready to land!" Bakugou yelled, and both Ochako and Todoroki clung on tight while Kirishima's wings flapped faster, hovering above the ground for a moment before touching down.
When Ochako looked up, she saw what was an obvious village in the distance. Her eyes widened when she saw other dragons flying about, hovering around the village, zooming through the trees with excitement.
It was incredibly lively.
"KIRI!' A loud, feminine voice called out, a girl with bright pink hair ran towards them, waving.
"Bakugou!" Another voice called out, nasally, but masculine. Ochako was honestly surprised anyone was happy to see his grouchy ass. Though maybe he was nicer to other dragons?
Kirishima lowered his head, allowing Todoroki and Ochako to slide down. Bakugou on the other hand, leaped down, landing with grace against the grass.
The pink-haired girl zoomed past them, leaping against Kirishima's leg, hugging him so hard. Horns twirled out of the top of her head and her eyes were dark and sharp. Pink scales covered most of her face, and Ochako could only assume she was having the same problem as Bakugou.
The girl stared at Kirishima, tilted her head back and forth while they silently spoke.
"WHAT!?" the girl yelled, staring up at Kirishima. "You can't... change back?! B-Bakugou is this true?!" She turned towards the group, her eyes glistening with tears.
"Why the fuck would he lie about it Pinky?" Bakugou snapped. Obviously he was just as pleasant around dragons as he was around humans.
"W-Well sometimes he can joke around about things..." she stammered, though Ochako could tell the girl knew this was no joke.
"Not a joke..."
Kirishima lowered his head, gently nudging the pink-haired girl.
"I-I'm sorry. I'll transform too! We can be stuck together!" she cried out.
"What's Mina doing now?" A deeper feminine voice scoffed as she approached. Her hair was short and purple, her ears the same color, and far longer than Bakugou's, pressing against the side of her face. Next to her, walked a taller woman. Her dark hair fanned out behind her head, and Ochako noted how beautiful she was. Her black scales sparkled against the sunlight, decorating her cheek bones, her ears pointed and long. She also seemed to have scales on her arms and hands, though the sleeves of her dress did a decent job cover those up.
"Hopefully nothing bad..." the dark haired woman said, pressing her hand against her cheek.
"BAKUGOU!" A rowdy blond boy called out, rushing towards him to hug him. "We were so worried about you!" he yelled loudly, rubbing his cheek against Bakugou's. He was the only one who seemed to be in complete human form, no clues to prove he was a dragon.
"Get the hell off of me, Sparky!" Bakugou yelled, pushing his face.
"We're just so glad you and Kirishima are alive!" he said, waving his hands up and down.
"Oi, stop being weird, Denki," the purple haired girl stepped forward and yanked on his ear.
"Babe! Please!" he whined. "You have to be relieved they're back too!"
"Yaomomo! Jirou!" Mina cried out, still clinging to Kirishima's leg. "Kiri can't change back and he won't let me transform to snuggle him properly," she whined, letting her cheek press against his leg.
"What?!" Momo gasped, covering her mouth. "He can't... change at all?!"
Bakugou shook his head. "Shit is getting worse. Hell, you two look like shit," he said, gesturing to the girls.
"H-Hey!" Jirou snapped.
"Somehow, Sparky looks totally normal."
"Yeah, cause I suck at transforming," he smirked, gesturing his thumb to his chest.
"That's not something to be proud of, Denki," Jirou snorted, flicking him on the cheek.
"Please, Kaminari," Momo whispered. "We shouldn't be making jokes about this-Ah!" Her dark eyes met Todoroki's and then Ochako's, her cheeks immediately flushing. "I-I'm sorry! We're being so rude! You... brought other dragons?" she asked.
"..." Bakugou snorted, folding his arms over his bare chest.
"What?" Momo asked.
"Ah. We're humans," Todoroki stated bluntly.
"Oi-" Bakugou began to shout but Momo's eyes immediately twinkled.
She rushed forward, her fingers wrapping around Todoroki's. "You're human!?" she gasped. "I have so many questions! I can't believe this! I never thought I would meet a human! I wasn't expecting you to look so normal," she blurted out, her words slipping from her lips so fast.
Todoroki's eyes widened. Glancing from their hands to her face, his cheeks flushed. Ochako couldn't help but giggle at how absolutely flustered he looked.
"Uhm... yes... human..." he stammered.
"That's incredible! And you can use magic too!?" she asked. "I can feel your magical current just holding..." Momo paused and immediately jumped back, her face turning bright red, visible even over her dark scales. "I-I apologize!" she bowed. "I didn't mean to completely invade your personal space and touch... t-touch… your… uhm...!" she squeaked out, shaking her head.
How cute.
Todoroki chuckled. "It's fine. The reason you felt the current is because of these," he said, holding his hands back out to her. This time, the other two dragons leaned forward, curious about what he was showing.
"They're magical hand charms. This one is for ice and this one is for fire," he said, pointing to each hand respectively. "Humans only do magic with the help of an object to channel their current from."
"Yup!" Ochako smiled, holding her staff out. "I use this. I'm Uraraka Ochako by the way. Rescuer of Bakugou Katsuki."
"Huh..." Jirou muttered, looking at the wooden staff.
"Oh my goodness! I can't believe how rude I was again!" Momo gasped. "I"m Yaoyorozu Momo, the pink-haired girl is Ashido Mina, this is Jirou Kyouka, and her boyfriend, Kaminari Denki," she said, pointing to them one at a time.
"Please don't refer to him as my boyfriend, you know how that gets his ego going," Jirou scoffed.
"Babeeeee," he whined.
"I'm Todoroki Shouto," Todoroki said, ignoring the whimpering blond.
"It's very nice to meet you!" Momo said, bowing her head. "Though... I am confused why you are here."
Bakugou clicked his tongue. "They're my guests so back off," he snarled.
"O-Oh!" Momo said, "N-No you misunderstand. It's fine they're here, I didn't mean it like that," she urged quickly. "Though... I know you went searching for a solution. But if humans need objects to use magic... how could they be taking ours, unless their inanimate objects are somehow responsible..." she trailed off, realizing how ridiculous her own hypothesis sounded.
"It's true," Ochako said, stepping towards her. "We don't have a solution to your magic problem, but Todoroki and I wish to help. We're both trained mages and we know a lot about magic. Maybe we could find another way?" she said. "Plus we're still both really surprised you guys even exist!"
"Exist?" Momo asked, her gaze flicking to Todoroki.
"Mmm... Dragons are a thing of legend in our world," he explained. "I suppose you can imagine my surprise when Uraraka brought Bakugou to me."
"So you got stuck with Bakugou first," Jirou sighed. "Poor you."
"Oi!" Bakugou snapped but Kaminari wagged his finger, as if blocking him from speaking poorly of Jirou.
"Mhm. I rescued him!" she smiled.
"How romantic!" Mina cheered, still gently running her fingers on Kirishima's leg. From the way she was acting, Ochako could only assume Mina and Kirishima were very important to each other.
"I'm still surprised he let you come with him," Momo said softly, tapping her chin.
"Well, he kind of had to let me," Ochako giggled. "I got banished from my hometown to save him. He wasn't even that grateful," she teased, nudging his side.
"Oi..." he muttered, his eyes turning downward, pain filling his red eyes momentarily.
"Banished!?" Momo gasped, taking her hands. "You poor thing! We should get some tea on immediately and maybe you can share your travel stories! I'm sure there are plenty."
"I want to know why Kiri is stuck like this!" Mina whined.
"We can discuss it all over tea," Momo repeated.
"Tea sounds... wonderful," Todoroki smiled, the girl blushing again.
"Yeah, let's sort all this shit out," Bakugou huffed, immediately leading them back towards the town.
~~
Bakugou's village didn't look much unlike her own. Small buildings lined cobblestone paths, and she found it interesting dragons had such a similar style to humans. As they continued down the street, Ochako noted many of the dragons currently had a mix of dragon-like features as well as their human ones.
Actually, so far, Kaminari was the only one who seemed able to retain his full human form. "Y'know, Bakugou," he said. "Your mom is going to be thrilled you're home."
Bakugou immediately wrinkled his nose. "That old hag can wait! We have shit to discuss!"
Ochako gently smacked him upside the head. "Bakugou! You should at least say hello to your mother! I bet she was worried sick about you!"
"We can meet you at the library," Momo said. "There are plenty of things to fill you in on. And I think there is plenty for you to tell us. I am... quite worried for Kirishima and Mina..." she whispered.
They left the two dragons behind, and Momo was convinced the girl most likely shifted to be with him. "If the two of them get stuck in dragon form... we still don't know how long it takes for..." she trailed off. "I don't even want to think about it."
Bakugou let out a long sigh. "Fine. I'll go to my mother's house and meet you at the library then."
"I'll come with you!" Ochako blurted out.
"Oi!" Bakugou snorted and quickly shook his head. "Forget it! I'm going alone. Why do you always have to follow me."
"I wanna make sure you actually do it!" she said, gently pushing her hands against the back of his red cloak. "Let's go!"
"You don't even know where you're going Round Face!" he hissed.
"I know so hurry up and lead the way!" she said, the two of them already pulling away from the group.
"Ah," Momo turned to Todoroki. "Would you like to join them, or us?"
"I'll go with you. I have many questions I would like to ask," he said, nodding his head.
"Yes, of course!" she smiled. "I actually have quite a few myself! See you soon Bakugou!" she called out, and the blond grunted loudly in response, dragging Ochako away from the group.
"They seem close," Jirou muttered.
"It's unclear what they are," Todoroki stated. "I still can't figure it out after traveling for a few days."
Both of the girls laughed, Jirou rolling her eyes. "That sounds like Bakugou alright. He sucks at anything regarding feelings."
"I figured that much," Todoroki admitted.
"Well, I'm going to head out!" Kaminari said, interrupting the conversation. His eyes shifted from side to side, and he looked nervous.
"What?" Jirou asked raising her eyebrow. "Denki... what's wrong?" she said, stepping forward to take his hand. However, Kaminari was quick to pull away, panic crossing through his gaze.
"Nothing! I just... I promised my mom I would help her with some... stuff..." he trailed off.
"Denki..." Jirou rolled her eyes. "You're the epitome of unsubtle. What's going on?"
"Seriously! It's nothing," he said, backing away, as he waved his arms frantically. "I just gotta help my mom!" He turned on his heel, dashing away and zooming down the street as fast as his legs would take him.
Jirou let out a sigh. "Fine, whatever, let's just go," she said, stomping towards the library, leaving Momo and Todoroki behind.
"Kyouka..." Momo whispered, softly. She turned to Todoroki, a slight blush painting her cheeks. "Her and Kaminari have been together for awhile, but lately he's been... acting a bit odd."
"Like that?" Todoroki said, turning to see where the boy could've run off to. "He seems... high energy."
"Mhm," Momo admitted walking through the town. "I know it's bothering Kyouka... but she won't talk to me about it... and I've seen her try and talk to him and... it doesn't go well."
"I see," Todoroki muttered, tapping his chin.
"B-But, I-I think it's more of a personal thing between the two of them!" she said, waving her hand back and forth. "Let's talk about you!" Momo's eyes flickered with excitement, her dark ponytail bouncing up and down as she smiled at him.
"Me?" Todoroki asked.
"Well, yes! Or rather humans! I-If you don't wish to get too personal!" she smiled, clapping her hands together.
"It's fine, Yaoyorozu," he said. "I don't mind sharing things. If you are willing to answer my questions, I will gladly answer yours. Bakugou wasn't exactly forthcoming about anything regarding dragons. He kept telling me and Uraraka it was none of our business."
She nodded, taking a right as they headed towards a bigger domed building. "I suppose that is true. Ever since coming to the island, dragons have purposefully chosen to close themselves off from the world. Bakugou has always been... angry. He probably feels humans don't deserve to know about us."
Todoroki blinked, staring at her momentarily. "Are you that old?" He wondered if she was a part of the choice to move to the secluded island.
"E-Eh?!" Momo gasped, covering her mouth. "N-No! Not at all! We look to be about the same age," she said, her cheeks turning red. "Don't you know it's rude to ask a lady her age?"
It was Todoroki's turn to blush and he turned his gaze to the ground, ashamed he could've possibly offended her. "Ah... I apologize. I thought perhaps dragons had a different lifespan than humans."
Momo giggled softly. "You don't have to look so broken up. It's quite alright. And... as far as I know we do not. Humans and dragons used to live harmoniously according to legends, and I believe we most likely kept similar traits to each other, even after all these years."
His eyes widened, a small smile pulling across his lips. "You have... the same legends as we do," he said.
"Well," Momo nodded, following Jirou up the steps of the library. "It only makes sense, seeing as they are based upon some truths."
"That's true," he nodded.
"What sort of questions did you wish to ask? Are you surprised dragons actually exist? Admittedly, I am rather shocked humans do. When Bakugou and Kirishima mentioned leaving to find humans, I wondered if it would actually be possible... We weren't sure if humans even existed anymore!"
"Mmm... I see... it is similar for us. When Uraraka brought Bakugou to me, I was... very shocked. Though... secretly, I've always believed dragons were real. As childish as it most likely was of me... I think deep down I wanted to believe."
"Really? Have you always been... interested in dragons?" she said, stepping inside of the tall building.
"I have," he said. "Even as a young boy... the idea fascinated me."
"Me too!" she said, holding the door open for him. "But... well with humans!"
Todoroki smiled as he glanced around. He always felt at home surrounded by books, and the smell was simply delightful. The ceiling was tall, and rows and rows of books lined the walls. "Incredible..." he whispered. "I'm sure you have so many texts here I've never even witnessed."
"Most of it is dragon historical texts, some fiction," she said. "There are a few texts on humans... but not as many as I would like. There's a room towards the back where we usually meet. Bakugou will be along soon, and we can... discuss what to do."
Todoroki could see her face sink, her eyes looking so sad. "As much as I thought it wouldn't be true... there was a part of me that hoped Bakugou was right... so we could solve this problem."
"Yes... I am confused where he got the idea that humans were the ones stealing magic."
"It's because of the legends. Dragons and humans used to be able to use magic freely, when they worked together. Dragons left humans because humans were greedy about using magic... so when things started changing here... well... many of us were quick to assume humans were somehow at fault," Momo explained. "It doesn't really make much sense, seeing as none of us were even sure humans still existed!" she giggled.
"I see..." Todoroki asked. "Have you heard of a possible magical bond between humans and dragons? I think it could explain how humans and dragons work together with their magic," Todoroki said, taking a seat next to Momo
"Magic bond?" Jirou asked. "Is that what you two have been gossiping about back there?" She sat down, across from Momo... though her eyes looked distant, most likely still thinking about her boyfriend's strange behavior.
"Yes! We've been discussing legends!" Momo said happily.
"Good," Jirou snorted, folding her arms. "Glad to see Yaomomo finally found her nerdy soulmate."
"Eh!?" Momo gasped, waving her hands quickly. "No, no! N-Nothing like that!" she said quickly. Todoroki glanced at her up and down, noting how cute she looked when she grew so flustered.
"Sure," Jirou smirked. "Anyway, what about this magic bond?"
"I don't know if anything about it is for certain," he muttered. "I spent a great deal of time researching dragons and human history. There were a few accounts of this... magical bond created between a human and a dragon."
"When a human and a dragon love each other very much..." Jirou smirked, leaning forward on her hand.
"K-Kyouka!" Momo gasped while the other girl laughed.
"Well... by all accounts, she's not exactly wrong," Todoroki said. "It only works when said dragon and human have a strong relationship. Not necessarily love... though apparently that helps. When the bond is created, the magical currents between dragons and humans become connected. Humans wouldn't have to use a magical object and dragons wouldn't have to pull from the collective source as the magical energy would come from the bonded pair themselves."
Momo blinked. "Is that... possible?"
"I have no idea. I've never been able to test it."
"I see... Do... Bakugou and Uraraka know about this?" Momo asked.
Todoroki raised his eyebrow. "Are you hoping they will be the ones to test it?"
"Are... they that close?!" she gasped.
"I can't imagine anyone getting close to Bakugou. Kirishima and Denki are his best friends and he's still an ass to them," Jirou scoffed.
"They get along more than they let on," Todoroki stated. "However, I don't know how close they are, nor do I think this sort of thing would work for them."
"I see..." Momo said. "I guess it just makes me wonder... if humans and dragons could use magic together again... maybe this wouldn't be a problem." Her fingers glided over her hands, brushing over the scales. "I hate this..."
Todoroki watched her fingers dance over her dark scales. They sparkled in the low lighting of the library room and Todoroki swallowed. He never expected to meet real dragons, or that they would be so incredibly human... and lovely.
"You look beautiful," he spoke, the words slipping from his mouth before he could truly think about them.
"Huh!?" Momo's cheeks lit up and she quickly covered her face. "I-I...Uhm... T-Thank you Todoroki!" she squeaked out.
"See, she's totally flustered. Maybe you two will be the first to try this bond thing," Jirou snorted.
How blunt. Todoroki was receiving a taste of his own medicine. His eyes widened. "I... I hardly know Yaoyorozu! I-I mean she's a lovely woman and I'm sure we would get along great... I..."
"You're both awkward too!" she smirked. "Anyway, before both of you spontaneously combust, let me clear things up." She rolled her sleeve up, revealing her own purple scales. "It's not that we hate having our dragon features.. but those of us who get stuck, unable to transform back are losing our minds."
"I was... aware of that," Todoroki nodded, slipping his hand through his hair, trying to recover from his speeding heart rate. "Bakugou mentioned it a few times but didn't elaborate."
"It started happening a few weeks ago," Momo began. "Perhaps we should wait for Bakugou and Uraraka to return... I can't imagine Bakugou explained anything to her either."
"No, she was just as in the dark as I was, if not more," he said.
"I see. Perhaps it would be... best to wait. Knowing Bakugou, he won't wish to speak to his parents for long."
Unsurprising. Todoroki couldn't imagine Bakugou holding out any sort of long conversation, even with his own parents. "Do they not get along?"
"No, no... his mother and him are the same person."
"Hm... Two Bakugous..." he muttered, wrinkling his nose a bit.
"Mitsuki is much nicer than Katsuki," Jirou chuckled.
"This is true!" Momo agreed.
"Well... I hope Uraraka comes back in one piece," he said softly. He hoped the girl wasn't completely overwhelmed by the two large personalities.
~~
Bakugou's hands were shoved into the pockets of his pants and he stomped forward, the muscles in his back rolling with each step. He seemed to grow tenser and tenser the further away he walked.
Ochako bit her lip, watching him go. This was a predicament she never thought she would find herself in. A little over a week ago she was panicking about taking her pro-mage test, and now... she was slowly falling in love with this angry dragon.
Falling in love...
Her cheeks heated up and she shook her head, gently hitting the end of her staff against her forehead. She was such an idiot! No one fell in love that fast! She was just flustered because he kissed her, when no one had ever done anything like that before. That had to be it.
And still... she didn't really understand what that meant. When she thought about it, her heart throbbed in her chest, and admittedly she just wanted to do it again.
She wanted his hands to wrap around her cheeks and touch her skin, pulling their lips together...
Her cheeks were on fire now and she really hoped-
"Oi! What are you doing?"
"Eh!?" she jumped, surprised when his red eyes met her own. "W-What do you mean?"
"You're walking behind me all slow and shit..." he grumbled.
Ochako couldn't help but smirk a bit. "Are you wishing... I was walking next to you?" Maybe Bakugou was more interested in her than she thought.
"No. I don't give two shits!" he grumbled. "But if you're going to fucking follow me, at least walk next to me or I don't fucking know..."
She stepped forward, wrapping her fingers around his hand. "Like this?" she asked.
Bakugou stared at their hands, his cheeks flushing as he pulled away, looking around as if to see if anyone saw.
"What the hell are you doing!?" he hissed.
"I just thought... since we... kissed... " she mumbled, suddenly feeling idiotic. Why would kissing one time or maybe two... constitute holding hands? Frowning, she stared up at him. "You're giving me really mixed signals, Bakugou! What do you want from me?" she snapped.
He rolled his eyes and yanked her hand back towards him. "Fine. But we're not doing this when we get to my house. The last thing I need is my stupid mother asking questions!"
Ochako fell forward, pressing close to his chest, her eyes staring up at him. "You... really hate when people ask you questions... don't you?" Her gaze was wide, her pink cheeks flushed, and she only wanted the answer to her question... What did he want from her? Well... she supposed she wouldn't have minded if he gave her another kiss.
Growling, Bakugou tugged her hand to his side, pulling her towards the tree. He spun her around and pressed her back against the tree, his thumb swiping over her lips. "Yeah... I fucking hate it," he snorted, leaning down to capture her lips against his own.
This kiss was far rougher than the one from before. His hands cupped her jaw, his lips pressing against her hard. He pulled away to pull in air, but returned quickly, nipping at her lower lip.
"K-Katsuki..." she whispered, staring up at his red eyes, his golden scales glistening on his skin.
"Mmm... Ochako," he muttered her name back, wrapping his arms around her waist to pull her closer.
He pecked her lips, his teeth scraping across her lower, and she let out a soft sigh of pleasure. It made her stomach flip flop, a shiver rolling through her spine. Her knees shook as she wrapped her arms around his neck, her fingers brushing through the small tendrils of blond hair which curled over the back of his neck.
Bakugou was so incredibly handsome... it was absolutely unfair how easily he affected her. Her hand slid down to his chest, her palm touching over his heart and it hummed warmly. Maybe it was a dragon trait, to be so warm and pulsing with energy.
"Ah..." she gasped when he pulled away, her arms clinging to him.
"That a good enough answer for you, Cheeks?" he muttered, stroking at one of the small pieces of hair that framed her face.
She brought her hand to his cheek, gently stroking at the scales on his face. They were smooth, surprisingly soft... for some reason she expected it to feel rough beneath her fingertips. "Not really. You can't keep kissing me and expect that to be an answer."
He sighed, bumping his forehead against hers gently. "I fucking... I..." He shut his eyes and flared his nostril, his eyes gazing to the side. "I like you..." he mumbled. "Okay? Even though you're a human... annoying, and following me everywhere... you still... saved me... and you're pretty strong and... whatever. Is that good enough for you?" he scoffed.
"Perfect," she whispered, cupping his cheeks in her palms to gently press their lips together again.
He pecked her lips back and turned away immediately, his palm coming up to cover his face. He hit his heel on the ground over and over, shaking his head.
"W-What?!" Ochako gasped, trying to lean forward to look at him.
"I can't believe I just said all that shit to a human!" he yelled. "A disgusting... human!" he shook his head back and forth.
"Oh, well sorry I'm not a fierce dragon like you!" she snorted, placing her hands on her hips.
"I guess... you're... fine... as far as humans go," he sighed, looking dejected about admitting it.
"Oh? Just fine?" she asked. Stepping forward, she slipped her hand into his palm, wrapping their fingers together.
"Just. Fine. But fuck Half and Half, I still hate him!" he snorted, stomping his foot on the ground.
"Okay, okay," Ochako giggled, gently patting his arm. "Don't hurt yourself!"
"Shut up."
"Let's actually go see your mom, okay? I'm sure she's worried about you," she said, leaning her head against his arm.
"I doubt she fucking cares. Why the hell do you care so much?" he snorted.
She could feel his eyes looking at her, but she couldn't bring herself to meet his crimson gaze. He had just called her strong, and oftentimes she was... but thinking about her own parents made her heart sink. It hadn't been very long, and she was caught up in so many things, a whirlwind of emotions, though she was grateful for it. Anytime she stopped to think... she would remember how far away her parents were and how she most likely would never see them again.
"I..." she squeezed his hand hard, her palm feeling sweaty against his. "Don't you want to see your parents while you still can?"
She felt him clench his hand around hers, his body stiffening next to her. He swallowed and tugged on her hand, not saying another word.
"B-Bakugou?" she whispered.
"Shut it. We're going," he snorted.
"O-Okay..." she said, knowing he probably understood.
~~
True to his word, Bakugou let go of her hand the second they stood outside of his parents small cottage on the side of town. Ochako was surprised by how small it was... for some reason she was under the impression Bakugou was some sort of leader, but she supposed dragon leaders didn't live in lavish like human leaders did.
"Let's get this over with," he muttered, pushing the door open. "Oi! I'm home!" he cried out.
The inside of Bakugou's house was even more humble than the outside, if that was possible. It was a cozy cabin. A couch and some chairs circled around a small wooden table, positioned in front of a stone fire place, some plants decorated the corners of the room, and there was a large bookshelf on the opposite wall.
"Is that my dumbass son!?" A loud voice called out from the kitchen, and Ochako swallowed. Maybe there was a reason Bakugou acted the way he did.
"Oi! Shut up hag. You're lucky I even came back!" he snorted. "Shoulda stayed away forever," he grumbled under his breath.
"Get the fuck over here!" The woman, Bakugou's mother Ochako presumed, stepped in the middle of the doorway. She looked surprisingly similar to him, spiky blonde hair and striking red eyes. She was just as beautiful as he was, if not more. Her golden scales covered most of her arms and neck, and she held some sort of ladle in her hand.
She charged forward, and wrapped her arms around Bakugou, nuzzling his cheek. "You fucking idiot, why the hell did you stay away for so long!?!" she asked, squeezing him tight.
"You damn old lady!" he yelled, pushing her face away from him.
"Son?" Bakugou's father turned around the corner, and Ochako was surprised by how calm he was. She supposed one of them would have to be some sort of calm to keep the family somewhat balanced.
His father had soft brown hair and eyes, his smile genuine and sweet. The dark brown scales trailed all the way from his neck and chest up to his cheeks, far more noticeable than most of the dragons she had seen. He wrapped his hands around his family. "We're so happy you're safe," he said.
Ochako stood by the door, not wanting to interrupt their moment. They were most likely worried about their son, so seeing Bakugou home safe was a relief.
"Katsuki? Who is this?" His father was the first to notice her and she blushed, freezing in the spot she stood.
"H-Hi! I'm Uraraka Ochako, I'm a mage... I..." she blushed, not sure how to introduce herself. She wasn't sure how they felt about humans.
"She's a filthy human," Bakugou muttered.
"Katsuki!" his mother said, smacking him on the head. "Don't be rude to the poor girl! Come in, come in!" she smiled, reaching forward to take her hands.
"I-I am a human..." she admitted. "I met... Katsuki on his trip."
"Well aren't you just the cutest thing!" she smiled. "I'm Bakugou Mitsuki, please... sit down. Masaru! Get some tea on!" she barked.
"Yes! Very nice to meet you," he said. "I'll get the tea ready."
"So you're a mage?" she asked and took Ochako's hand.
"Mhm!" She held up her staff. "A white mage," she explained.
"I see..." Mitsuki frowned. "I don't... feel your magical current."
"Oh, humans use magic using magical objects. Our magical current doesn't activate unless I'm holding this." She picked her staff back up and glanced at Mitsuki. "Do you feel it now?"
"Fascinating," she whispered. "I do..."
"It's more interesting to me that dragons can feel magical currents at all! I mean... I can feel my own... but not yours," she giggled.
"Well then," she nodded. "How did Katsuki end up with such a cutie?"
"E-Eh!?" she gasped and shook her head quickly. "N-No! Well... actually if I'm being more accurate, I saved Katsuki," she explained.
"Saved?" Mitsuki glared at her son. "What the hell kind of trouble did you get yourself into!?" he snorted.
"I fucking didn't-" he growled, pressing his foot angrily against the ground.
"My village wanted to execute him for almost burning it down, but I stopped them," she said. "Of course it led to us both being banished... so... can't really go back... which is why I'm here... that and... I wanted to help your son," she admitted softly. Glancing at Bakugou, she noticed the soft blush on his cheeks.
"I don't know why..." she muttered, pushing herself up from the couch. She yanked on his ear, tugging him down.
"OI!" he yelled. "F-Fucking hag!"
"I told you, if you were going to leave you weren't supposed to disturb any human villages and what the hell do you go and do!?!?"
"I felt a strong fucking magical pull there! What the hell was I supposed to do!?" he yelled. "I was looking to get magic back!"
"And you could've been killed!" Mitsuki cried out. "What the hell were you thinking!? And you got this poor girl banished!"
"Technically that was my fault-" Ochako began to argue. She could've chosen to let him die... but looking at him now... as much as she missed her parents, she was glad she didn't.
"Don't you dare say that," Mitsuki said, silencing her. "If my son hadn't come to your town then you would still be there with your family!" she hissed out.
"But... I wanted to rescue him! Yes... Bakugou had... and has... the wrong idea about humans... but I couldn't let him die. My entire life I've been wondering if creatures like you exist... and when one finally came into my life, when it felt like all my dreams were coming true... I couldn't just let them kill him."
Slowly, Mitsuki pulled away from Bakugou, slipping back onto the couch. "You sweet girl. Thank you... for saving my boy... even if he probably didn't deserve it."
"No, no," Ochako shook her head. "I promise you, he didn't deserve to die!" she exclaimed.
Mitsuki smirked. "I guess..."
"Oi, oi," Bakugou grunted. "I don't have all day. Tell me what's been going on here while I've been gone."
"Where are you going that you and this girl can't stay for dinner?!" Mitsuki huffed.
"We have to discuss what the fuck we're going to do!" Bakugou yelled, gesturing to Ochako. "She's fucking proof humans aren't stealing our goddamn magic!" He slammed his hand against the wall. "I know you're trying avoid it," he said.
"..." Mitsuki glanced down, her deep eyes flickering with sadness. "It's getting worse," she said, looking towards the kitchen, as if she was nervous for Bakugou's father to return. "He almost changed the other day... couldn't control his wings or his tail... He's not the only one..."
Bakugou smacked his hand against the wall again, growling deep in his throat. "I fucking knew it," he hissed. "Let's go, Uraraka."
"Go? But Bakugou-"
"Katsuki!"
"I told you I wasn't coming home until I found a solution to this fucking problem and I meant it," he said. "I need to talk to the rest of the fucking idiots in town. They're waiting for us. This idiot made me come tell you I was safe," he said, thrusting his finger towards Ochako.
"That's because she's clearly smarter than you," Mitsuki chuckled. "Fine. I can't stop you," she rolled her eyes. Ochako could tell it was a lesson the woman learned long ago.
"Thank you for having us in your home," Ochako said, bowing to the woman. She needed to meet up with Todoroki at the very least, so she couldn't have Bakugou leaving without her.
"Of course," Mitsuki smiled. "Come back if you need a place to spend the night."
"Shut up!" Bakugou snapped and grabbed Ochako's hand, yanking her out the door. "We have to get back to the fucking library."
Ochako waved a final time, following Bakugou back towards the woods. As he stormed away from the house, she felt his grip loosen and he walked with less purpose. Her hand found his, wrapping her fingers back around his skin. "Bakugou," she whispered. "Are you doing all this for your dad?" she asked quietly, her hands squeezing gently.
Bakugou was quick to pull away. "No!" he snapped. "It's... it's got nothing to do with that. Everyone on the fucking island is losing their minds and... I don't wanna lose mine!" he yelled.
"But you also want to help him, don't you?" she asked.
"...I don't... I don't want him to lose his mind either..." he muttered, and pushed forward, not speaking about anything else.
"We'll help him," she said. "We'll help you... everyone. We're going to find a way," she said.
"I know," he growled. "I'm not going to stop until I figure out what the fuck is going on."
"I believe in you," she said quietly.
"Hah!?" he snapped and turned around, meeting her determined gaze.
"I believe in you," she repeated. "I know you can find the answer to your problem, and if I can help in anyway, I want to. "
Bakugou stared at her for a moment, and though he seemed awkward, she could tell he understood her emotions. He clicked his tongue against his teeth and shook his head. "You're an idiot, Round Face. Let's... let's hurry up."
And though he turned his face away, she could see how pink his cheeks were for a brief moment.
~~
The library was probably the biggest building in the center of the square, and Ochako was surprised by its size. Bakugou muttered something about how it contained all of dragon history, and she supposed that made a lot of sense. Humans had a variety of towns and so recorded history was far more spread out across the continent. Dragons however, only lived on this one island.
Bakugou led her to the back room, entering where Yaoyorozu, Jirou and Todoroki sat.
"You're here!" Yaoyorozu smiled, clasping her hands together.
"...Yeah..." Bakugou grunted. "Where the hell is Sparky?"
Jirou was quick to glance down. "He said his mother needed him for dinner."
"HAH?" Bakugou's fist smacked the table, the sound echoing in the room.
"Bakugou, Please! We are still in the library!" Yaoyorozu said.
"What the fuck ever. We're already down Kirishima and fuckin' Pinky..." He folded his arms over his chest. "I'm really hoping Half and Half filled you in on this goddamn situation," Bakugou snorted.
"Mostly," Jirou admitted. "We know it isn't humans who are taking our magic."
"Yeah," Bakugou snorted.
"And he told us of a way we could make magic more stable, but you're not going to like it," Yaoyorozu explained.
"What?!" His red gaze snapped towards Todoroki, his eyes glowering. "You had a solution like that all this time and didn't speak up."
"Actually," Todoroki retorted calmly. "I did mention it before but you were quick to brush it off."
"Figures," Jirou shrugged. "Bakugou doesn't normally listen."
"Oi!" he growled, gesturing wildly to Half and Half. "Out with it then."
"Part of the reason why I'm hesitant to explore it more is because there is no proof of it working," he admitted.
"Anything is worth a damn shot at this point," Bakugou hissed.
"...It's about the magical bond. Between a dragon and a human," Todoroki began. "It is supposed to allow the magical current to be shared between the two. If this were the case, a human would not need a magical object, and dragons would not take from the shared magical current pool."
"So how the fuck do you make one of these bonds?" His head whipped to the side, glaring at Ochako. "Cheeks, bond with me."
Ochako blinked, shocked by the outburst. Did he mean that? As far as she knew from the little Todoroki had mentioned of it... the bond was an extremely intimate thing, and not possible to achieve just by asking for it.
"Ah..." Todoroki muttered, glancing between the two. "I don't know if that would be possible Bakugou, you and Uraraka are most likely not close enough."
"What does that mean? What the hell do you know about our relationship!?" he said, his nostrils flaring as he growled at the mage.
"I suppose I... don't know much about your... relationship..." he said, raising his eyebrow at Uraraka. "However... it has to do with strength of compatibility as well," he continued to explain. "And this is all speculation, I have never witnessed this spell nor do I know if it's even possible," he muttered.
"We have to at least try!?" Bakugou snorted.
"That's true, but we would need more information," Todoroki turned towards Yaoyorozu. "With your permission, I would like the chance to read through your historical texts," he said.
"What?" Yaoyorozu asked, gently touching her hand to her chest. "Of course! You can read whatever you like," she said. "I'll make sure to pick out ones I think will be helpful."
"Perfect," he said.
"Oi, Half and Half," Bakugou scoffed, clenching his fists against the table. "This is all well and good, but we don't have time for your ass to read through the entire fucking library of dragon history!" he snapped.
"I know, which is why you and Uraraka can go do field research," he said.
"Field research?" Ochako asked, confusion crossing over her features.
"Mhm," he nodded. "Do you remember when you asked me about dragons in the area?" he asked. "I told you about two rumors. Since... Bakugou was so adamant about finding Kirishima, I didn't push the other information. And technically I did follow the other lead myself and came up with nothing, but at the time I didn't have a crucial piece of information."
"What was that?" Jirou asked, feigning disinterest.
"Well... the knowledge that dragons are indeed real," he said.
"Ah..." Yaoyorozu nodded. "That would make things quite difficult."
"Mm," Todoroki nodded.
Ochako pushed herself up from her chair and turned with determination towards Todoroki. "If you think this is an important lead, we need to know more about it." She glanced towards Bakugou, desperate to take his hand... though she had a feeling he would toss it away if she did.
"Togata Mirio," Todoroki began, "perhaps you've heard his name?" His gaze fell on Ochako, knowing the dragons would have no clue who he meant.
"The Invisible Wizard," Ochako nodded. "Of course I do... he's famous."
"Yes. And his rather silent partner, Amajiki Tamaki, I believe is a dragon."
"What!?" Ochako gasped, covering her hand over her mouth.
"We're gonna need more fucking information than that," Bakugou hissed. "There are no dragons with that name."
"More than likely it's an alias," Todoroki shrugged. "Either way... it's obviously unconfirmed. Togata Mirio is a performer... an illusionist mage... he can go invisible. He can appear and disappear at the drop of a hat... make various body parts disappear... and no one has been able to figure out his so-called trick. It also seems as if he does not need a magical item, and yet he can perform this tricks whenever... most people assume it's another trick... but I believe... Amajiki Tamaki is a dragon, and the two of them are bonded."
"But you said you went to check and couldn't confirm?" Ochako asked, tilting her head.
"Yeah," Todoroki muttered. "I asked them straight out if Tamaki was a dragon and Mirio told me I was ridiculous. He also said everything was a trick of the eye, but he wouldn't reveal his secret..."
"Y-You asked them that point blank!?" Ochako gasped.
"Of course," Todoroki said. "Why not?"
"O-Oh no... reason..." she muttered. Todoroki was far braver than she... maybe it was because of all the teasing she endured as a young girl, but she knew better than to just ask people about dragons so bluntly... even if they did exist after all, most people still were unaware of that.
"Anyway... I believe he was lying. Tamaki looked incredibly uncomfortable when I brought the subject up and even Mirio looked taken aback," he explained.
"I think anyone would feel that way if you asked them about a mythical creature," Jirou muttered.
"It's possible," Todoroki muttered.
"Okay..." Ochako said, sliding her finger down her nose. "So you think Mirio and his partner are bonded... but if they weren't willing to tell you... what makes you think they would be willing to tell us?" she said, gesturing to herself and Bakugou.
"Because Bakugou is a dragon," Todoroki said.
"Hah!? Do you want me to just fly in there and show off that I'm a fuckin' dragon?"
"No. I'm not an idiot," Todoroki scoffed, rolling his eyes at Bakugou once again. The blond was quick to jump to conclusions.
"If you both approached them in a calm manner and Bakugou revealed part of his scales or what not, I believe Tamaki would trust you enough to reveal he is in fact a dragon too," Todoroki said.
"And.. what if he isn't a dragon?" Bakugou asked.
"Then the lead is lost and you can come back. But if he is, and he and Mirio are bonded, they might be able to give us more details," Todoroki finished.
"We don't really have many other options," Ochako sighed, tilting her head back and forth. "We are pretty stumped on what to do next."
"Tch," Bakugou clicked his tongue. "I could've come up with something."
"Oh really?" Ochako raised her eyebrow. "Let's hear your plan then."
Jirou smirked, tilting her head towards Ochako. "I like her. Anyone willing to call Bakugou out is a brave soul."
"Shut up!" Bakugou hissed. "We'll... have to fucking try."
"It's really the only other thing I can think of. Perhaps when you return both of us will have more information and we can actually move forward with fixing your... magic problem," Todoroki said, turning towards Yaoyorozu, his eyes scanning her hands.
"Thank you, for being so willing to help," Yaoyorozu said.
"Of course!" Ochako giggled. "This really is like a dream come true!"
"I'm happy not all dragons are like Bakugou," Todoroki sighed.
Jirou scoffed, gently rubbing the bottom of her long ear. "Ew, of course we're not. He's an outlier."
"I'm not a fucking outlier, I'm practically the goddamn leader!"
"Self-appointed," Jirou pointed out.
"Shut it Ears!" Bakugou growled.
Jirou shrugged. "With Kirishima trapped in dragon form, someone has to call you out on your bullshit."
Ochako couldn't help but giggle, as angry as he was, she could tell he cared dearly about his friends.
"What the fuck ever," Bakugou hissed. "We'll leave tomorrow, Cheeks," he said. "Half and Half and Black Hair will research here. Ears, you keep an eye on Sparky. He's acting fucking weird."
"Yeah..." Jirou muttered, immediately looking sad.
"Dismissed," he muttered. With those final words, Bakugou turned on his heel and left the room, his aura filled with incredible frustration.

BnHA Chapter 181: 9:59 A.M.
Previously on BnHA: Gentle continued to rassle with Deku and asked him why he wanted to be a hero. Deku said it was because of everyone who helped him and supported him and believed in him; he wanted to make them proud and “show them a brighter future.” The two of them bonded in that shounen way, and meanwhile La Brava sprinted into the woods trying to hack U.A.’s network. Unfortunately she ran into Hounddog and a bunch of Ectoplasm clones. Realizing the jig was up, she went back to warn Gentle, only to find him lying defeated on the ground, having just fallen victim to Deku’s latest Shoot Style move, St. Louis Smash. La Brava was all “let him go!!” and ran up to Deku and started adorably beating on him with her lil fists. Gentle belatedly realized that he had put her in this situation and made her into his accomplice even though she was innocent. In an attempt to get her sentence reduced, he flung Deku into the air with his quirk to try and make it look like the battle never occurred. Ecto and Hounddog then came out of the woods, and Gentle surrendered.
Today on BnHA: There is a not-as-tense-as-they-try-to-make-it-seem scene where we wait and see if the festival is going to be cancelled due to Gentle’s shenanigans. Apparently the heroes have been instructed to start the evacuation process upon “confirmation of hostile intent.” But Gentle says he is not hostile. He says he’s committed a lot of crimes, but that La Brava is innocent and was brainwashed by him, and he asks them to pardon her. Deku then comes out of the woods and the heroes ask if he fought with Gentle. Deku white lies his way out of the situation, saying that Gentle was trying to pull a prank and that the two of them had “a small dispute.” Apparently Hounddog is satisfied by that, because he reports back to the other heroes that the situation is fine, and then he and Ecto apprehend Gentle and La Brava and take them to the police. Meanwhile Deku hurries back to get cleaned up and changed, and makes it back with only moments to spare. The concert begins, with Eri watching excitedly from Mirio’s arms.
(As always, all comments not marked with an ETA are my unspoiled reactions from my first readthrough of this chapter. I’ve read up through chapter 207 now, so any ETAs will reflect that.)
we’re opening on a “moments earlier” flashback of Ecto being informed via his headset that a student went out shopping earlier and hasn’t come back
and now Hounddog is contacting him and saying that something’s going on near to where he is, and he’s going to borrow a few of Ecto’s clones to go check it out
Ecto’s asking if it’s an emergency, and Hounddog is giving him a ton of detail based on scent alone omg
Tumblr media
wow Hounddog, you’re pretty cool aren’t you. “three people, not moving any more, and they’re all freaked out and sweaty”
and look how scary he is
Tumblr media
I freaking love him omg
OH THANK GOD
Tumblr media
so because the intruders have no hostile intent, the festival can still go on! what a stupid loophole! I’m so glad they exploited it lmao
you know, if this was in any way a serious villain operation, this kind of shrugging-your-shoulders approach would definitely get a few more students kidnapped and/or killed. nice to see U.A. hasn’t learned a damn thing lol
Ecto recognizes Gentle from his Youtube vids as “that villain that’s only quick to run away”
now Hounddog’s grabbing him by the collar and asking where his comrades are
Gentle says he has none
Hounddog is all “what about those injuries and the general mess in the vicinity indicating that a battle has recently taken place?”
and Gentle says he “had a stumble”
lmao. “one heck of a whoopsy-daisy there. good thing I have Life Alert”
Hounddog’s asking if it was just the two of them and Gentle says yes
oh snaaaaaaaaap
Tumblr media
I wonder if he knows which student? he should learn how to identify Deku’s scent specifically since it’s always him getting involved in these things. would save some time
meanwhile we’re cutting back to the student in question who is landing now
and he’s thinking back to what Gentle said earlier and he’s figured out that he was trying to protect La Brava and spare her from the full consequences of all this if possible
meanwhile Gentle is telling Hounddog, “if you’re looking for the boy, he’s just over there...”
oh have you finally learned a life lesson then
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gentle gained +500 self awareness points! too late! but at least he got them lol
I hope Aiba has the sense to keep her mouth shut
he’s asking them to pardon her
she’s so little and cute, I’m sure they will omg
meanwhile Aiba is sobbing and clinging to Gentle and thinking no, he didn’t brainwash her, she really loves him
eh, a little of column A, a little of column B...
now Hounddog is asking Deku if he fought Gentle
well, aside from it being obvious at a glance, I’m sure he can probably smell it too
wow Deku
Tumblr media
look at this little green punk and his smooth white lies
anyways, so he says it’s all right now
Aiba is still clinging to Gentle and sobbing
Tumblr media
getting the feeling these guys can see right through Deku’s bullshit, but at the same time they can kind of figure out why he’s not being 100% truthful, and they don’t want to ruin the day for the kids and bring a storm of negative PR raining down upon U.A. either
so The Sheriff -- who we haven’t seen a while, how you doin bud -- is asking for a report!
AND OH MY GOD
Tumblr media
FUCKING CALLED IT. LOOK AT THIS GUY. JUST A BIG SOFTIE IN THE END ARENTCHA
so he says they’ll continue to keep their guard up, but for the time being they can stand down
and they’re taking Gentle into custody and telling him he can explain the details to the police
and as they lead him away, Gentle is telling Deku that he was once enrolled in a hero course, and that he became a criminal due to the despair of having to drop out
Tumblr media
look how fucking massive Hounddog’s arm is oh my god
and also! yes, that’s very sweet, very nice, catharsis, etc. etc. everyone understands each other yay
fsdfkhlk now Ecto is stepping in and suddenly unleashing an array of powerful dad moves!!
Tumblr media
telling him All Might was worried! seeing Deku look panicked when he realizes the time, and reassuring him that he still has time to get back! telling Deku they’ll go together to pick up the things Deku lost! ECTO YOU ARE GREAT AND SO UNDERRATED OMG. DARK HORSE MVP
MEANWHILE ONE OF DEKU’S ACTUAL DADS HAS JUST FOUND OUT HE’S MISSING AND HE’S REALLY PISSED OFF
Tumblr media
getting the feeling that Aizawa would have never signed that permission slip. it was pretty irresponsible of All Might tbh. just, statistically the data shows that you don’t let Deku go off on his own. you just don’t. you don’t, All Might
and apparently the shirts say “A Band”! even for the kids who aren’t in the actual band! I wonder who came up with that name. sounds like the work of Todoroki “my hero name is Shouto” Shouto to me
(ETA: as we now know, it was actually Yaoyorozu “Shouto and I have a lot more in common than you know” Momo)
now we’re following Deku on a brief journey to pick up the bags he dropped, while he thinks to himself about how similar he and Gentle were, and that they both fought for others
okay but let’s not pretend Gentle was fighting for La Brava’s sake until the very end, though
anyway, the bags weren’t where Deku left them, but thankfully an old lady picked them up and they found them around 9:35!
AND GUYS LOOK AT THIS OMG
Tumblr media
KAMINARI DENKI YOU TRULY KNOW NO FEAR HUH. that Kacchan thing really emboldened him. he came out of it alive and was all, “wow I can really get away with anything, huh?”
AND HE CAN! WHAT A REVELATION
(ETA: okay but for real, I know BakuDeku and KiriBaku are the #1 and #3 most popular pairings in the series (going by AO3 anyway), but after reading this arc, I can’t help but feel like KamiBaku is being slept on. Kaminari’s Little Bro Energy and his willingness to test boundaries put together with Kacchan’s frankly shocking levels of compliance make for an amazing combo. the cuteness potential here is off the fucking charts)
so people are milling around and wondering what class A has in store and saying they’re excited
and of course they are, because class A famously kicks ass as we have all realized by now
and now Eri is shyly tugging at her big bro Mirio’s sleeve and asking if Deku is going to dance
YOU BET HE IS, ERI. HE’S GOING TO DANCE YOUR SOCKS OFF
and All Might is running up to Aizawa, presumably to tell him they found Deku and everything’s hunky dory now
look at all these people!
Tumblr media
SO LET’S BE SURE TO GIVE EM A SHOW, EVERYONE
holy shit it’s 9:59 and still no Deku in sight. fucking kid always has to make an entrance
AHHHHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
I’M MORE EXCITED THAN THIS WHOLE FUCKING CROWD PUT TOGETHER OMGGG
WHO IS THAT SHOUTING “YAOYOROZU” OVER ON THE LEFT?? DID I SOMEHOW GET TRANSPORTED INTO THIS MANGA AND DIDN’T REALIZE
(ETA: apparently these are all of her fans from the commercials she did with Snake Hair Lady and Kendou. not my preferred way for Momo to get a following, but I can’t say I object to her having a following. what can I say, these people know perfection when they see it)
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Tumblr media
I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS IT OH MY GOD. THE ANIME BETTER KNOCK THIS OUT OF THE FUCKING PARK
BUT OH MY GOD, EVEN THOUGH IT’S JUST ONE PAGE I’M FUCKING LOSING MY MIND
(ETA: oh my god I’m so glad we got more in the next chapter though. I was prepared to take whatever we got, but for a moment I genuinely thought this was gonna be it, and after all of that buildup I’m so happy we did get the full performance and each of the characters got a little moment to shine)
MOMO’S HARDCORE CHEERING SQUAD!! EITHER THAT OR JIROU ACTUALLY WROTE A SONG THAT CONSISTS OF NOTHING BUT MOMO’S NAME OVER AND OVER, AND THEY ELECTED TO PLAY THIS AS THEIR OPENING ACT. I KNOW THIS ISN’T ACTUALLY WHAT’S HAPPENING, BUT IT STILL CAN BE CANON IN MY HEART
MIRIO HOISTING ERI UP TO SEE
Tumblr media
THIS IS THE CUTEST PANEL WE’VE EVER HAD IN THIS MANGA. SUCK IT, ALL YOU OTHER PANELS
BAKUGOU PLAYING THE SHIT OUT OF THOSE DRUMS! FUCKING MURDER EVERYONE WITH YOUR SOUND BOIIIII
AND ERI SMILING
I’M DEAD. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. THIS IS SO FUCKING GREAT. I LOVE IT. THANK YOU, MANGA. I’M PLAYING “Y CONTROL” ON REPEAT, FUCK YEAH

A picture my mom sent me as part of her Daily Positive Love text prompted me to write a drabble about Mardea Lin
Author’s Note: I fucking love my mom and my dad like they’re the best people in the world I’m so lucky to have them in my life
also ((read the tags for more stuffs))
Anyway here’s Wonderwall The Writing Stuffs
 ------
Tumblr media
The sound of graphite scratching against thin journal paper absorbed his thoughts. Well, that and at least his senses of touch, sight, and hearing.
Midoriya scribbled in his notebook before afternoon class started. Each page of his previous journals had been about the rising heroes seen on TV. Line after line of small details and notes of how their quirks worked, their strengths, and their weaknesses.
This one, though, was for his classmates. Midoriya wasn’t trying to undermine or take advantage of his classmates- he just wanted to study their quirks and help them out. Give them a new perspective on their fighting styles and quirks. There was one classmate left to write about before he could present his findings, though.
Lin.
Mardea Lin, the blue haired enigma. Midoriya could never get a true reading on her emotions. One minute she’d be stoic like Todoroki and the next a total memelord like Ashido. And her quirk.....energy manipulation.... Midoriya had seen it in battle and in training but couldn’t quite figure out how it worked. Maybe he wasn’t as good at analyzing as he thought.
“Hey Midi,” Mirodiya jumped, snapping him from his thoughts and back to reality. Lin was sitting at her desk beside him, “What’s on your mind? Your eyes are out in space.”
He sighed and leaned back in his seat, “Ah... Sorry. I was just, ah, writing.”
“You analyzing everyone?”
A light blush dusted Midoriya’s freckled cheeks, “Y-yeah.”
Lin beamed, “Whatcha got on me?”
“...If I’m being honest, nothing. I don’t quite understand how your quirk works.”
“Well why didn’t you ask me?” She cocked her head to the side, “I’m more than happy to explain it.”
His eyes glowed, “Really? Please!!!”
“Yo, what’s up?” Uraraka waltzed on over, “All I heard was ‘I’m more than happy to explain’.”
“Midi doesn’t quite know how my quirk works. I’m giving him the crash course.” Lin hopped the desks and stopped at the window, pointing to a potted flower plant that had bloomed, “See this flower?”
Midoriya and Uraraka mimicked each other’s eyebrow raise and head tilt.
“Yeah, that’s Tsu’s lily flower,” Uraraka commented.
“YOU BEST NOT BE DESTROYING OR TOYING WITH CLASSMATE’S PROPERTY THAT IS A VIOLATION OF-”
“Iida she’s not desecrating it!” Midoriya stood up to stop the rambling class rep. who also decided to join in.
“Whoa, we’re smashing flowers? Totally not cool,” Kaminari stopped beside Uraraka.
“Whoa, Lin’s a bully now?” Kirishima leaned back in his chair, “I didn’t know you were taking after Bakugo, Lin.”
“YOU FUCKIN’ COPYING ME ENERGY DRINK?!” Bakugo only heard his name and began screaming. The other classmates heard his racket and all gathered around her.
She facepalmed, “No, I’m not a bully. I’m trying to help Midi understand my quirk. You all can listen if you would like.”
Todoroki crossed his arms and propped himself on the wall, “Even I don’t understand your power. This could be helpful.”
“Yeah!” Mina swayed back and forth, “You’re so mysterious sometimes, Dea. Spill your trick of the trade!”
“I don’t really care if you use my flower, it should die in a few days anyway, Ribbit,” Tsu gave a sincere smile and sat at Lin’s desk.
“Thank you, Tsu,” Lin took a breath and started again, “My quirk is energy manipulation. Energy can be altered, redirected, reformed, etc., and I can control that.”
Midoriya began scribbling in his notebook again, “Okay....okay...”
“You nerd,” Bakugo huffed and stood at the back of the group
Lin continued, “This lily, like all things, is made up of atoms. At a subatomic level, there’s Protons, Neutrons, and electrons. Beyond that is quarks and neutrinos, according to our modern sciences-”
“Uhhhh.....what?” Kaminari scratched his head, “You’re speaking a different language, pal.”
Jiro rolled her eyes and elbowed him, “We learned this yesterday in physics class.”
Sero raised a hand, “What’s this have to do with the lily?”
“I’m getting to that, please bear with me,” Lin blushed, realizing she might have been rambling, “Beyond the sub-subatomic particle level, is energy.” Lin smirked, “All things are made of energy, blipping in and out of appearance at roughly 20,000 times a second.” She raised her hand over the lily and-
It disappeared in a flash of sparks and light.
“HOLY SHIT!”
“YOOOO THAT’S SICK, DUDE!”
“You...killed it...”
“YOU DESECRATED A CLASSMATE’S PROPERTY-”
Lin held out her hand, which now had a green ball of energy, silencing everyone’s screams of shock, “Energy cannot die. Only altered, reformed, redirected.”
She laid her palm flat, then the ball stretched into a bolt, which she grasped. Then it made a smiley face, still green and radiating sparks of energy. After that it was Todoroki’s portrait. Then Jirou’s portrait. Finally, it was Aizawa’s scarf.
A few seconds later it was back into ball form. Another wave of her hand returned the flower exactly as it had been, “I tapped into the energy of the flower and, well, manipulated it to my will. Hope you didn’t mind me using your faces as references.” She turned and placed the lily back on the window sill.
Midoriya’s scribbles turned frantic with excitement as he jotted down what Lin was saying, “That makes sense it’s true how physicshelpplayaroleinourunderstandingofquirksexpeciallythe’emitter’typesofquirksbutIneverreallythoughtabouttheexactrealmofquantumphysicshavingahandinitbecausequantumphysicsissoabstractcomparedtoourcurrentknowledgeofscienceand-”
“Midoriya take a breath, man,” Kirishima flicked his ear.
“Hey, don’t pick on him it’s how he thinks,” Uraraka swat Kirishima’s hand.
“Though he could learn to be more silent about it,” Tokoyami quipped.
Yaoyorozu lit up, “SO YOU AND I HAVE SIMILAR QUIRKS!!!”
Shoji finally spoke, “Oh...you both alter atoms in a way. Rozu can make new items, meanwhile Lin can reach deeper and just toy with the item’s source.”
“Essentially,” Yaoyorozu and Lin jinxed.
“Unlike Ro, though, this applies to living things, too.” Lin grabbed Mineta’s arm, as he was the closest to her. It suddenly glowed a deep purple.
“aaaaaAAAAAAA IT HURTS STOP!” Mineta freed himself and rubbed his arm tenderly.
Lin sucked a breath, “I didn’t think I loaded it that much, I’m sorry.” A yellow energy surrounded his arm, making Mineta feel better.
Bakugo pushed himself up front, “What the fuck was that?!”
“I mentioned how everything is energy, and that includes humans and other living things. I can overload the energy in them, causing harm, or transfer energy from myself to give others a....boost.”
“Harm, huh?” Bakugo’s grin was devilish, “What about THIS-”
Blue shields surrounded his hands as they exploded, sending ripples through Lin’s body. The shield expanded to surround Bakugo completely as Lin unleashed the explosion back at him. He flew across the room.
“Explosions are kinetic energy. You literally gave me fuel for my quirk.”
“AH KACCHAN ARE YOU OKAY?!” Midoriya hopped the desks to his side, followed by Kirishima and Kaminari.
Lin sighed, “I surrounded him in an energy shield. He’s fine.”
“FUCK YOU, LIN!” Bakugo rose up, wiping dust and dirt from his face. “AND GET OFF ME YOU DAMN NERD!”
Hagakure raised a gloved hand, “So.....what’s your limit?”
“Huh?”
She sighed, “Well, I didn’t understand much of that physics jargen, but it sounds like your quirk is really strong and helpful. So what’s your limit? Where’s your cap off?”
All eyes on her again, “Well....” Lin thought a moment, then “I don’t know.”
Yaoyorozu crossed her arms, “You don’t....know?”
“One of my main reasons for coming to UA was to determine my limit. I don’t know the extent of my quirk, and I knew that this school could help me find it.” Lin looked down at her shoes, embarrassed. “I know I can’t possibly be unlimited. But I can do a fair amount. I’m on a journey.”
Midoriya sat back in his chair, smiling, “Thank you, Lin. I think I understand now.”
“Yeah, that’s really cool,” Jirou commented.
The classroom door thundered open, making everyone yell in surprise.
“What.” Aizawa stepped through, “It’s class time. Get in your seats or you’re expelled.”
Everyone shuffled back. Midoriya finished his scribbles, completing his journal analysis on his friends.

Class 1-A: Salsa Dancing?
I went to a free salsa dancing lesson and...well, here we are. I have to write this out now. It’s an obligation.
Midoriya:
He’s pretty nervous because he’s self aware enough to know that he’s...kind of clumsy? Uncoordinated? Take your pick. But he’ll try it anyway because he’s heard dancing can help rhythm and balance and some Pro Heroes and athletes learn ballet and dancing on the side. Despite his best efforts, though, he’s not the best at it. But he has fun!
Todoroki:
He is...not happy about this. He’ll probably outright refuse to dance because he’s just not super into it. If multiple people push him then he might try it, but he doesn’t necessarily WANT to do it.
Uraraka:
She’s nervous but super into it! She thinks it sounds fun to learn a specific type of dance that she isn’t familiar with. Takes her a bit to try and get used to the footwork but most of the time she’s laughing and having a good time. Would dance again!
Bakugou:
He outright refuses, yells about how it’s stupid and a waste of time...until someone (Sero) says that he’s just scared that he’ll suck at it. Well of course he gets pissed and dedicates himself to perfecting the footwork (he does) and is surprisingly rhythmic. Everyone is impressed but he just gloats that he’s the best at it in the end.
Kirishima:
He thinks it sounds super fun! He’s aware he has very little rhythm but thinks it might help him become lighter on his feet since his quirk is all about being hard and stiff, so any chance to loosen up he’s going to take it. He’s terrible at it, the worst, tragic. Doesn’t matter though because he has a great time, laughing, making himself dizzy spinning in circles, etc. Would dance again!
Sero:
Next to Bakugou and Mina, he’s the best in the class. He actually has a lot of rhythm since he uses his quirk to move around quickly so fancy footwork and quick movement changes don’t bother him much.
Tsuyu:
Dancing isn’t really her thing, but she’ll try it if other people do it. She can memorize the moves just fine but isn’t really one for improvising - she sticks to whatever the instructor says and follows the moves with ease, but she’s a bit stiff overall.
Mina:
LOVES IT! She’s a natural dancer and loves moving around and high-energy situations, so she’s into it. Has no problems at all picking up the moves and even improvising, teacher is pretty impressed. Overall lifts the mood of the room and chills out people who are anxious about it.
Momo:
Very nervous since it’s something she isn’t used to or comfortable with? What if she isn’t good at it? What if she looks foolish? Makes her self-conscious honestly. But Mina and Uraraka help her loosen up and she ends up having fun with it.
Jirou:
Since she listens to all types of music she’s familiar with Salsa and Latin American music but has never actually danced to it...she ends up standing off to the side to chill out. Dancing isn’t her thing, playing the music is more her jam so maybe she could be the DJ for the next time.
Tokoyami:
He is just “no thanks” and stands off to the side with Jirou. Dark Shadow likes to jam out, though!
Iida:
Is way too stiff with the dance moves, overall very robotic and not loose and rhythmic at all. He follows the moves exactly but there’s no real energy behind them other than trying to get the moves perfect. He also spins to quickly and knocks someone over on accident.
Kaminari:
Thinks it will attract girls so he’s into it. He’s not bad at it but not the best. Overall tries to improves too many times with cheesy moves and Jirou makes fun of him for it off to the side.

all the class 1-a boys for the "send me a character and i’ll list" one ;B
I fear you are going to be very disappointed with this list since I don’t have super strong feelings on a lot of these boys but I will do my best! I’ll be going by seating chart order:
Aoyama:
favorite thing about them- Being an extra person myself, I appreciate a character who also very extra. I’ll admit I found him kind of annoying at first but on this second rewatch he’s grown on me.
least favorite thing about them- I don’t have anything I dislike about him. I guess I think he could have a better quirk?
favorite line- “You like him, don’t you?”
brOTP- Uh idk? Who does he really hang out with?
OTP- himself
nOTP- Any of the adults I guess? (this goes for all of these kids but I’m gonna say it here and only here)
random headcanon- He practices smooth heroic one liners and poses in the mirror. Sometimes he accidently activates his quirk too and temporarily blinds himself.
unpopular opinion- If people overall tend to like him, I guess my unpopular opinion would be that I didn’t originally?
song i associate with them- Diamonds by Rhianna (but only the chorus. It’s on repeat in his head all the time)
Iida
favorite thing about them- He’s got a good heart and he tries his best!
least favorite thing about them- Nothing now, but in the past he was quick to act based on his emotions :/ Glad he seems to have learned from that.
favorite line
brOTP- Him and his brother, him and Midoriya, him and Uraraka
OTP- Idk if it has a ship name (rarepair is hell) but IidaxMomo
nOTP- Iida and his brother, I guess?
random headcanon- Is the kid that complains that they’re totally gonna fail (insert test here) and passes with an A+ every. single. time.
unpopular opinion- Probably my otp for him. They just have a lot in common and I think they’d be cute together!
song i associate with them -  The distance by Cake
Ojiro
favorite thing about them- He’s a very honourable guy, he works hard and doesn’t take what he thinks he doesn’t deserve. ALSO APPARENTLY HIS TAIL WAGS WHEN HE’S HAPPY OR EXCITED WHICH IS SUPER CUTE
least favorite thing about them- The fact that I had to look this character up to get a summary of his personality because I wouldn’t know shit about him besides his looks otherwise
favorite line- … I got nothing…
brOTP-  just on looks and personality alone probably Rikido?
OTP- I mean, I’ve seen art of him and Toru that’s pretty cute but I feel like people started shipping them when she stripped in front of him or w/e and she was like “Don’t look at me!” which is :///// I just think their personalities would be interesting together, him being a humble guy and her wanting to stand in the spotlight
nOTP- I don’t know this character well enough to have an opinion on this.
random headcanon- see above
unpopular opinion- do people have strong opinions on this character? I would need to know what they think
song i associate with them - talespin theme song
Denki
favorite thing about them- The fact that he’s the best boy
least favorite thing about them- He can be kind of gross and he hangs out a lot with the worst boy :/ but at least he’s like. A normal teenage boy amount of gross instead of that being his only character trait.
favorite line- that noise he makes when he short circuts
brOTP- Anybody really.
OTP- Don’t have anyone I super hard ship him with? I guess him and Jirou is a little cute but I don’t really ship it.
nOTP- none
random headcanon- Pichu main
unpopular opinion- I have one but it’s about events the toonami crew hasn’t reached yet so I can’t discuss it
song i associate with them- Electric Boogie by Marcia Griffiths
Kirishima
favorite thing about them- He’s so friendly! He literally wants to make friends with everyone!
least favorite thing about them- I guess a fandom interpretation? I don’t dislike anything about him as a character
favorite line-
brOTP- Him and everyone in the class (This time reluctantly including M*neta because unfortunately Kirishima is just that magnetic)
OTP- Kiribaku, I suppose. I also think KiriMina is cute but that’s at least partially because those are my boyfriend and my favorite students respectively.
nOTP- none
random headcanon- Would probably be a skater kid if this was a 90′s cartoon
unpopular opinion- I feel like Kirishima is a lot more layered than your average fandom headcanon gives him credit for. Like yeah, my favorite thing about him is that he’s a sweetheart, but he’s not JUST a sweetheart. He’s a rough and tumble kind of guy. He’s insecure, but working on becoming more confident. He’s a stand up guy, but not totally above mischief. He’s just a really interesting character and oh my god is he becoming my new fave boy? What the fuck is happening?
song i associate with them- Gotta Fly Now (theme from Rocky)
Koji
favorite thing about them- A SWEETHEART! GENTLE GIANT!
least favorite thing about them- This is gonna sound so mean but… his face…
favorite line- I don’t remember the exact words but when he conquered his fear of the bugs to pass that exam… that was good.
brOTP- I guess Jirou?
OTP- None
nOTP- None
random headcanon- Dinosaurs are his favorite
unpopular opinion- What are the general opinions on this guy in the first place? Idk.
song i associate with them- You know that scene in Shrek where Fiona sings that duet with that bird and the bird explodes. That. Not the actual song, just that rendition of it, in that scene.
Sato
favorite thing about them- idk why but his quirk strikes me as funny
least favorite thing about them- not a fan of his costume. it’s not the worst costume though… I guess
favorite line- just him explaining his quirk
brOTP- nobody right now but I feel like if someone came along with an eating related quirk, or was just a big eater, they’d get along well
OTP- see above
nOTP- none
random headcanon- so canonically he’s a good baker, especially with deserts, but I bet he sucks at cooking.
unpopular opinion- don’t really have one
song i associate with them- cooking by the book (from lazytown)
Shoji
send me a character and i’ll list:
favorite thing about them- TOL
least favorite thing about them- I’m not a fan of his whole design. It makes me… uncomfortable.
favorite line- not sure
brOTP- I guess just based on personality, Tokoyami? Not sure how much they interact though
OTP- none
nOTP- none
random headcanon- would never lose his earpods but would also never own them
unpopular opinion- idk
song i associate with them- handyman by awolnation
Sero
favorite thing about them- If I’m being perfectly honest, the only reason I like this character as much as I do is because of a mob psycho crossover fic where he and Mob effectively replace M*neta (Mob literally by like taking his spot at UA, and Sero through their similarish quirks). Don’t know much about his canon character traits but if he’s anything like in that story he’s cool by me
least favorite thing about them- that he could replace the bad one mentioned above but does not.
favorite line- none
brOTP- none
OTP- none
nOTP- none
random headcanon- will try to tape anything he can together and call it fixed.
unpopular opinion- I don’t know a lot about how this character is viewed so I couldn’t say
song i associate with them- Tape Song by The Kills
Tokoyami
favorite thing about them- he’s just REALLY funny like he tries to be dark and mysterious but he’s just… not. it’s great.
least favorite thing about them- not something I hate or even dislike so much as something I’m dying to know: what’s up with the head? apparently that’s not part of his quirk so??? what’s going on there???
favorite line- most things that come out of his mouth are gold
brOTP- Tsuyu
OTP- Also Tsuyu! I like them a lot as bffs and bf/gf!
nOTP- none that I can think of.
random headcanon- Meta Knight main
unpopular opinion- I don’t think I have one? I think most people like this character and agree with what I said so…
song i associate with them- Linkin Park’s entire discography.
Todoroki
favorite thing about them- I guess you could say he’s… a pretty cool guy ;^)
least favorite thing about them- HIS HERO NAME IS SO DUMB. SO DUMB. I GET MAD EVERYTIME I THINK ABOUT IT. WHY IS BAKUGOU’S DUMB NICKNAME FOR HIM SO MUCH BETTER. I’M MAD.
favorite line- Not a line, but I liked when he finally used his fire power, reclaiming it from his asshole dad.
brOTP- Him and Momo I guess. Also him and Midoriya.
OTP- If I MUST choose, I guess Tododeku.
nOTP- Notp sounds so harsh but honestly? I don’t ship him with anyone. so kind of sort of everyone applies.
random headcanon- I saw a comic someone made suggesting he likes to do goofy things when only one person is watching because no one will ever believe it happened. I like that.
unpopular opinion- I don’t really like either of Todoroki’s most popular ships. I have a hard time imagining a reason outside of school Momo and Todoroki would ever hang out, and even then I can’t see anything growing there beyond friendship. As for Midoriya and Todoroki… I can see why people ship it I guess, but as someone who came into the fandom knowing that was a fairly popular ship the moment that launched it didn’t even phase me, at least not in that way. It wasn’t until my second watching that I realized that was probably what started the ship and I feel like not a whooole lot has happened between them since? At least not to my knowledge. Todoroki, in my opinion, isn’t close enough to ANYONE yet for romance to be a viable option.
song i associate with them Hot n’ Cold by Katy Perry
Bakugou
favorite thing about them- when he gets bullied
least favorite thing about them- literally told someone to kill themselves
favorite line- DEKUUUU! DID YOU JUST BLINK YOUR EYELIDS?! YOU’RE GONNA PAY FOR THAT!!
brOTP- I kind of like the concept of the Bakusquad.
OTP- KiriBaku (though I’m fine with Bakugou just being alone too)
nOTP- BkDk
random headcanon- Dark Pit Main
unpopular opinion- Bakugou is not the worst student and I don’t hate him.
song i associate with them- Boom by Black Eyed Peas
Midoriya
favorite thing about them- A sweet boy! Works his ass off all the time!
least favorite thing about them- His heart is in the right place, but he can be very reckless with his own safety.
favorite line- I’m the Deku that always does his best!
brOTP- Iida, Todoroki (ig)
OTP- IzuOcha!
nOTP- BkDk
random headcanon- Since you wanna be cute and shit this one is just for you: Someone once tricked Midoriya into thinking he ate a pot brownie and he cried for an hour (”What will mom think?! What will All Might think?!”)
unpopular opinion- I’ve seen some people say they don’t like Midoriya as a main character because like… his character is boring? Don’t agree with that. Not sure how popular that opinion is though.
song i associate with them- Zero to Hero from Hercules
Ugh… Mineta
favorite thing about them- Nothing.
least favorite thing about them- The fact that he’s still alive
favorite line- none
brOTP- none
OTP- none
nOTP- none
random headcanon- I try not think about Mineta more than absolutely necessary (meaning he’s either in front of me or being discussed) so none.
unpopular opinion- Mineta is infinitely to the infinite power times worse than Bakugou is and/or will ever be, and unlike Bakugou, does not deserve the character development he’s apparently getting. Since Horikoshi is too much of a perv and a coward to literally kill him, the next best thing would be to let him die metaphorically of irrelevance. But I know he won’t do that either.
song i associate with them- none

Carry That Weight
The hardest part, she soon realized, was finding the moment to say it. It wasn’t like she and Midoriya were close or anything, though they weren’t strangers like they had been before. But he had his friends, and she had hers, and even in the occasional moments they’d had together alone, it’s not like she could just say, “Hey, can I talk to you about my gender problems?”
Jirou’s brain has been abuzz constantly since that day. Sure, she had heard of being transgender before, but it always seemed so distant from her own reality. And yes, she had always hated her chest a bit more than what seemed to be normal, but she’d always brushed it aside, chalking it up to jealousy over other girls for her small chest. It also explained why she stared at the girls in her middle school too much. It was just jealousy, right?
Looking back, she felt so stupid at how long it took her to realize she was gay. She wore her lesbian identity with pride now, especially with the purple pervert out of the way. She had everything she’d wanted in middle school. Accepting friends, a massive crush on a certain class rep that may or may not be requited, and a place where, if that crush ever went anywhere, she wouldn’t have to live in fear. She thought she’d be happy.
But there was a tiny itch in the back of her brain, one that latched on and refused to let go. Some days, it was barely there, and she thought she was finally past the confusion that had set in, but other days, every “she” and “girls” and brush of her uniform against her knees left her screaming in her head, and she was almost certain she was developing insomnia with the way she put off going back to the girls’ dorm some nights.
Tonight was one of those nights. She had resigned herself to another day of coffee-powered torture, and plugged herself into her phone, hoping some music would calm her nerves enough to let her zone out. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you looked at it), she wasn’t alone that sleepless night.
Midoriya was sitting inches from the TV, notebook in hand, furiously writing notes on a hero who had made their debut that day. Their power was something having to do with sand. Turning into it? Controlling it? She hadn’t been paying attention, but she heard Midoriya’s pencil furiously scratching down notes, determined to put all his thoughts on the paper. She realized he had been sitting there for several minutes, unmoving except for his hand and the occasional glance at the screen. It was a bit unnerving, honestly.
“Might want to get back a bit. Sitting too close can hurt your eyes, you know,” She called out.
Midoriya shouted, leaping back from his spot at the TV. “AH! Oh, uh, hey, Jirou. Sorry, kinda forgot there was someone else here.”
“It got you away from the TV, at least.” She absentmindedly patted the couch next to her. “Want a seat? It’s probably more comfortable than the floor.”
“Oh, yeah, thanks.” Midoriya sat next to her, and she could feel his anxiety shooting through the air.
“Dude, you don’t have to be so nervous. It’s just a couch, it’s not gonna bite you.”
“Ha ha, yeah,” he laughed halfheartedly, but she could tell there was something else he wanted to say. “Say, Jirou, could I ask you something?”
She panicked, a little bit. She hoped he hadn’t caught her discomfort (dysphoria? She wasn’t sure if she could call it that). If it had really been that obvious, she’d flip, but since he was trans, he may have been more in tune with the signs. She prayed it was that latter, and braced herself for his question.
“Could you give me some music recommendations?”
“Huh?” She was not expecting that.
“I mean, it’s no surprise you the most musically inclined in the class, and you listen to music on your phone a lot, so I thought you’d be able to help.”
“Yeah, sure,” She replied. “So, what kind of music do you listen to?”
“Uhhh… none?”
Jirou’s jaw dropped. “Wait. You’re telling me you’ve gone all sixteen years of your life without ever hearing a single song?”
“No, not like that! Of course I’ve heard music! I just mean, I’ve never really gone out of my way to listen to any. I’ve just heard whatever others have been playing. So, I guess I just wanna find music I actually want to listen to. I just have no idea where to start.”
Jirou’s heart stopped hammering against her chest. She understood people led different lives, but life without music? She couldn’t imagine. “Okay. Do you have any idea of what kind of music you might like? Genre, instrument, hell, even language. Just give me a jumping off point.”
Midoriya thought for a long moment. “I guess… I like guitar, electric especially. And I think there’s a band who I’ve heard a few songs from and enjoyed. They were British, and listening to English music is fun, especially when it helps you learn the language. They had something to do with bugs…”
“The Beatles?”
“Yeah, those guys! Could you show me their music?”
“Which kind? Their early, cheesy love songs? Their mellow ballads? Their psychedelic sitar stuff?”
Midoriya shrugged. “I don’t know. All of it? There can’t be that much, they weren’t together for very long.”
Jirou stared, then smiled a devious grin. “Honey, you’ve got a big storm coming.”
—–
“What the fuck was that?!?”
“I know, right? You think you’re prepared, but nothing can prepare you for Revolution 9.”
“God, I’m going to hear that chanting in my nightmares for weeks.” Midoriya shuddered. Suddenly, something fell over on a table behind them, and he turned around. “Hello?”
A quiet voice whispered in his ear. “Number nine, number ni-“
“Ahhhh!!! Jirou!” He pushed her away, and she fell over laughing. “God, I can’t believe that scared me. I’ve fought villains, for God’s sake!”
“Even veterans like me get the chills, my student. Now, kneel.” Midoriya stared at her with a confused look. “I said, kneel!”
“Fine, fine,” he gave her a questioning grin before relenting, getting off the couch and kneeling before her, his head bowed. She grabbed her phone and began to play Hey Jude, then held it out like a sword. “By the powers vested in me by our lords and saviors Lennon, McCartney, Harrison, and Starr, May they rest in peace, I now dub thee a true Beatles fan.” She tapped his shoulders and head with her phone before they both fell over, trying to muffle their laughs from their sleeping classmates, who must have been cursing their 2 AM rampage.
Midoriya wipes tears from his eyes, catching his breath as he climbed back on the couch. “God, Jirou, I wish we’d hung out before this. I never knew you had such a great sense of humor!”
“I reserve it for friends. Everyone else gets my leftover dredges of sarcasm.”
“Wow, I used to be so afraid to talk to girls like you. Did you know I was proud of myself for just mumbling to Uraraka on the day of the entrance exams?”
“Ha ha, wow…” She tried to feign laughter, but being called “girl” again just sucked all the energy out of her. It wasn’t even his fault, and still she just felt empty. What was wrong with her head?
“Is something wrong, Jirou?” Shit. He’s picked up on it.
“Ah, it’s nothing,” she tried to steer the focus away from her discomfort. “I’ve just been thinking about stuff.”
“Wait. Is it because I said girl?” Why did he have to be so damn perceptive? “Oh my god, Jirou, are you trans?” Now what was she gonna say? “I’m so sorry, I didn’t know, so you have another name, well I call you your last name, but still should I-“
“Stop!” Her world was spinning, and she couldn’t control her voice. Everything was out of her control. She felt herself falling, falling. She had to grab something. “No, I’m not a boy.” She dangled from a small ledge by one hand.  “But I don’t know if I’m a girl either.” Two hands up. “I don’t want to bother you, I don’t want you to feel like you’re the class’s “trans messiah”, here to teach us all of the complexities of gender or anything.” Shit. Her sarcasm made her fingers slip, she was about to plummet into oblivion.
Suddenly, a hand caught her, just as she was about to fall. She looked into a pair of startling green eyes. “I’m here if you want to talk, Jirou. I don’t mind.”
“Okay…” Jirou was hesitant. She wasn’t used to sharing things so openly. She was barely at this point with Yaoyorozu, her best friend, yet Midoriya gave off this vibe that just made her feel safe. He really was meant to be a hero. “I’m not really sure what it is. I’ve never really liked my chest, but I always just assumed it was because I was jealous of all the other girls in my school having bigger ones than me. I always stared at them too long, but I brushed it off as jealousy, you know? Turns I was just very, very gay, and there were a lot of really pretty girls at my school.” Midoriya laughed, and Jirou felt a bit more tension lift from her shoulders. She smiled. “But after what happened with… him, I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Some days it’s barely there, and other days being called a girl makes me want to tear my hair out and scream.” She suddenly became quiet. “That’s why I’m out here tonight. I couldn’t bear to go back to the “girls” dorm, when it felt so wrong. I just don’t know what I am anymore.”
They sat in silence, Midoriya processing everything she had said. Jirou was about to make a break for it, resigning herself to a night of discomfort, when Midoriya asked, “Jirou, have you ever heard of being ‘nonbinary’?”
“No, should I have?”
“No, no, that’s not what I meant. Being nonbinary means you aren’t a boy or a girl. Or, at least fully.”
Jirou stared in disbelief. “Wait a second. I don’t have to pick one?”
“Of course not, no more than I have to be the gender I was assigned. Here, this is a good starting point.” He hands her his phone, open to a webpage titled “Beyond the Binary”. He watched her scroll through the page in awe. After a few minutes, she handed it back to him.
“Holy shit,” she said. “I think I’m nonbinary.”
“Congrats!”
“Wait, can I be nonbinary and a lesbian? I’m still female-aligned, I think, so am I misusing it? Or does it not count cause I’m not really a girl? Do I have to find a new name for that, too?” Jirou had found so much comfort in her lesbian identity. She wasn’t sure she could give that up. Luckily, it didn’t seem she had to.
“No, you can be nonbinary and a lesbian, if that’s what makes you feel comfortable. Do you want me to keep using she pronouns? Or something else?”
Jirou thought for a moment. “I don’t mind she and her, I don’t think, but… could you try they/them as well?”
“Sure! Here, I’ll try them out. This is my friend Jirou, they’re in my class at school and they made me listen to some really fucked up music tonight.”
“Shut up!” They shoved him off the couch, laughing until their bellies ached, and they realized, for the first time in a long time, they were content with who they were. Who they are. They were nonbinary, they were gay, they were a hero in training, and they were laughing their head off with a new-found friend at 2 AM. Everything finally felt right.
