Best Harry Potter Hubby

I am curious as to who people think the best husband is. Please try to be as objective as possible. It doesn't matter if the man is a villain or antagonist. It's not even about the ship. Like you can prefer Hinny over Romione but think Ron makes a better husband than Harry for eg.

It's a bit hard for some of these guys since their marriage may not have a lot of screentime or no screentime at all. Use how they acted as boyfriends as a rough estimate??

I personally think Vernon is the best husband in HP. The dude is an abusive jerk to Harry but the man is always ready to throw hands to protect his family. Plus, the dude treats Petunia like a queen and respects and loves her. I just think the Dursleys have the best marriage on paper. Unlike other HP couples, I can't find any fault with Vernon as a husband.

Do you think Petunia and Vernon loved each other?

The entire Dursley family situation is a mess, none of them have quite the relationships they should be having. Dudley seems to view Harry as a brother and has no idea it's not mutual, Harry... views Dudley as a loathed brother but is in denial about this, Petunia pretends she doesn't have a sister or a nephew, and when it comes to Petunia and Vernon's relationship with Dudley I would argue Dudley is abused as well, it just took a different form with him where they treat him like a beloved corgi dog and never like a human being.

What we see of Petunia and Vernon's relationship is shockingly normal compared to the above. He is protective of her, she is anxious for him, they're fiercely loyal to one another and usually on the same wavelength, they have the same priorities in life and rarely argue, but when they do it's about external things. Vernon knew about Petunia's freak sister, which implies Petunia trusts him and their marriage is without secrets.

Do they make each other happy, what do they appreciate in the other, why did they marry, do they ever wish they'd chosen differently- those questions go unanswered, the most we have is the implication that Petunia chose the most aggressively normal man she could find.

Still, they seem to be equals in that relationship, and it is their ordinary life together that they are so protective of. I would argue that yes, it seems they love one another.

My first ever Severitus fanficbind is out! ⚡️

There is a LOT thing to say about this fiction. The fiction is start 2007 even before HBP and DH out and it completed in 2021. Also my first ever read Severitus fiction is this!

I think we all read fanfictions to replace the canon, and this NEEDED to be CANON.

The characterization is made perfectly. When i read it really feel i read Harry, Snape, Dumbledore and it makes in canon universe. So I think Kirby Lane really understands HP world so well.

And also it is thickest book i have ever bound so you might seem the mistakes that i made, but it is okay, because it is my first time! But i am happy how it turned out (except cover, God when i become good with covers?!) i made typesetting by myself and inspired from original HP books. Because i want this fic gives canon vibe. So i made cover with using ai and Mary Grandpre’s amazing works for it to gave canon vibes. 😌 so you see also the bookcloth is smaller than book 😵‍💫 i think about re-make the cover. But until then… it is finished! What you guys think? And also if you read Severitus what is your favorite fanfiction? Tell me about it *ready to taking notes*

May I request a one shot Harry Potter with a reader who’s basically his personal healer, they’ve known each other since they were neighbors and she always looked out for him and banged him up and Harry is super protective of her.

first night back ; harry potter

synopsis: for once, harry's the one cleaning up y/n and making sure she's okay.

warnings: foul language, muggle!reader, punching, blood, harry being hit by vernon, reader being hit on, cat-calling, author likes the color green too much smh, tw: dursleys, this is a lil violent, kinda veered off the request i'm sorry 😣❤

reader's pronouns: she/her

harry left the house in a rage. not only had Dudley 'accidently' tripped harry, but was also given a sharp slap to the face by his uncle for 'lying' about what happened.

fuming, harry practically stomped to the park. muttering colorful words and kicking small rocks, he didn't notice the neighbor girl quietly singing an old song and petting a black dog on an area of grassy field.

"harry?" she called.

the teen whipped around, startled. he sighed in relief when he realized it was y/n. "hey y/n," he greeted, moving to sit by her and the dog, who was looking pretty grimy.

y/n squinted at him. bringing her hand up, she tilted his face in her hold. harry's eyes widened slightly. "what happened this time? it's odd for me to be needin' to be healin' ya when ya just got back," y/n asked, rubbing a thumb over the dark outline on his cheek.

harry's ear were flushing a dark red. quickly swatting y/n's hand away, he shrugged. "oh, y'know... just a day in the life of a Potter." he tried to laugh it off, but y/n wasn't having it.

the dog moved to lay in both of the teens' laps, looking eager to witness y/n's argument. "oh," she began. "so this has absolutely nothing to do with the screaming match i hallucinated earlier?"

the dog seemed to smile before looking over to harry for his reaction.

harry looked down. "y/n... it's really- it's really no big deal. dudley just, uh, just made me slip-"

"and that motherfucker making you slip up warranted a screaming match that ended up in you probably bein' kicked out for the night?" y/n asked automatically, bright eyes waiting to be told wrong.

harry sighed. "i only got mad because i'm still s- y/n, sweetheart you worry too much."

sweetheart.

"maybe you simply don't worry enough." y/n suggested.

harry swallowed. "y/n-"

y/n's hands shot out, grasping his face and pulling him toward her. the dog yelped at the sudden movement.

"harry i'm serious." she said.

releasing him, the dog jumped up and started licking y/n's face, tail wagging happily, smacking harry in the face.

spluttering, y/n pushed the dog away. "i guess you were serious too," she mumbled, wiping his face.

the dog jumped around the two happily, causing y/n and harry to laugh.

when the dog finally tired himself out, he flopped down against y/n and stared up at harry. "no no, darling, stand up. we're goin' back to my house." y/n said, and stood up, joint popping.

harry rose, still sore from falling off his broom the previous day, and fell in step beside y/n.

the dog, who was still being called 'The Dog', followed y/n and harry happily. sirius had a protective eye on y/n the second she offered him food and spent her lonely time with him. it was a welcome happiness from being shooed away from adults. she had a good sense of humor that reminded him too much of himself and his friends when they were all young and naive and (mostly) happy.

harry and y/n's conversation was cut short from a loud wolf whistle from across the street. sirius, harry, and y/n all looked at the small group of older guys already looking over at them. "damn girl! ditch that kid and come hang out with us!"

y/n sighed and flipped the guys off and continued walking.

hearing them talk amongst themselves gave y/n the time to grab harry's arm and drag him away. sirius growled at the group, already picturing ripping their throats out, like buck in call of the wild.

he was still growling when y/n called for him.

the sounding of footsteps made y/n walk faster, grip on harry's arm tightening immensely.

"hey, we're just bein' nice an' all. come on, ditch that mutt and-" the guy didn't get to finish his sentence before y/n scoffed, trying to walk faster.

the guy reached for her arm. "don't fuckin' touch me." y/n spat in the guys face, eyes burning with a glow harry had never seen before.

the guy's eyes hardened and he stuck his hand out and grabbed y/n's arm and tried to rip her from harry. but y/n punched him straight in the face. sneer on her face, she brought her knee up and kicked him in the crotch. while he was doubled over, she pushed him down to the ground and started sprinting the other way.

holy fucking shit. what the fuck?

harry quickly regained his senses and turned to follow y/n, and soon sirius followed suit.

a block later, y/n waited, doubled over and gasping for air. sirius bounded faster to y/n and almsot knocked her over by the force of which he jumped at her. when harry finally stopped, he helped y/n to her feet. he ignored the slick liquid on her knuckles, and brought her into a tight hug. her finger threaded through his hair, and her face snuggled into his neck. harry felt bad for being giddy at the feel of her so close to him while knowing what just happened, but he couldn't help it. it was fucking hot to watch her absolutely hand that guy his ass, but was scary to watch her go from the girl who always cleaned up his face and knuckles after getting into fights that seemed ro follow him everytime he came back from school.

"you're okay, love. just breathe," harry murmured, rubbing y/n's back.

sirius whined at their feet. it was distressing to see y/n cry. he nudged her leg and whimpered.

y/n pulled away, scrubbing at her eyes and turning to sirius to give him a watery smile, but with the street lights now on, they glinted off her cheeks and revealed the tears still leaking out of her eyes.

"lets jus' go," y/n said, grabbing harry's hand.

"yeah. yeah let's go home."

It really says something about how the Dursleys treated Harry, that he was immediately overjoyed at the prospect of living with the man he'd thought had betrayed his parents up until an hour ago, without a moment's thought, rather than returning to them.

HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS -TIER RANKING LIST (purely based on the books)

Ok, here's the elaborate explanation for specific rankings that literally no one asked for

Sirius and Snape: Whether u r a marauders stan or snape stan, I think the character richness, nuance and complexity of these characters is undeniable, especially considering these r the 'good guys'. So any beef I hv with these characters gets cancelled out because of how well they're written, just because of the pure greyness of their personalities.

Same goes for Dumbledore, especially with his backstory

Teenage Voldemort was the villain, cunning, charming, psychopathic, manipulative; if only those traits had carried on. Adult voldy is straight up dumb, his manipulation of the malfoy family was the only thing in character, really disappointing nonetheless

James is that high because he's a pretty well rounded considering the fact that he's dead before the series starts. This filter didn't have regulus but i d put him in the sm category

Oliver Wood and Lockhart are that high just because they're iconic

The filter didn't hv Parvati Patil, so just consider that image to be her. She's the best side character imo. She's girly in a typical teenage sense, with her giggling, butterfly clips, her obsession with divination and centuars, her love for unicorns etc. But she's a total badass, she totally enjoyed her fame as harry's date in the yule ball, then straight up dumped him n went with sm beauxbatons guys when he wouldn't dance with her, stood up to umbridge, and fought with the DA until the very end. Her last appearance was when she won a duel against a death eater, she's an absolute queen

After finishing the first book and starting the second, there is something I can’t understand about the Dursleys

It’s established very early in the books how the Dursley family feels about the Potters, the wizarding world or magic in general. They don’t believe, or rather don’t want to believe that something exists out of the ordinary. They (Petunia and Vernon) define what’s “normal” in their own way and life which they try to force on Harry and Dudley. Everything that falls out of their definition of normal is considered abnormal. Therefore they feel deeply ashamed about having the Potters as family members. Thus they hate harry for who he is and always try to get rid of him or leaving him behind - for example leaving him with their neighbour while they go to the zoo or other places -, or treating him terrible. Locking Harry in the cupboard, making him do difficult chores, verbally threatening him, talking to him as he is something way below them.

In the view of these that’s why I don’t understand why Vernon willingly goes through all that trouble in the first book, when Harry starts getting letters. Leaving their comfortable home, travelling a whole day just to move to an old, cold, dusty lighthouse-y building on the ocean. As Petunia and Lily are sisters, Petunia should know well that Hogwarts students stay in the school all year. They come home only during the summer and leave in September. Don’t they want to get rid of Harry?

This locking up Harry comes back at the beginning of the second book too. They don’t let him to send letters with Hedwig, which is a bit weird, if she flies during the night no one would see her. But since Ron invited Harry to stay in the burrow it would mean even less Harry time for the Dursleys. so why don’t they let him go?

Hear me out, Severitus fans, so basically I had this one (1) idea which I cannot get rid of based on a song.. So like, I had this idea of Harry running away from the Dursleys and he goes completely ballistic and has neat powers, he raises the dead, and he can dance on a broom.

Okay, if I haven't lost your interest yet, basically, he does so by accident, freaks out, realizes it's his power, and a little later, the ministry tries to catch him. He then learns magic by himself and forms a cult/organization some time later. Like, freaks unite, yk? And some people join after hearing about some dude that raised the dead, and well, nobody knows it's Harry because he has a disguise, and so, Dumbledore gets scared and sends his spy.

Good ol Sev.

That's when it goes down and the story really starts.. It's hard to really summarize my idea because the draft, which is just a long summary for me to keep track with, is already almost 3.000 words and not even half finished.. But yea. It's just unhinged, dark Harry who's seen enough for one lifetime, and Severus slowly becoming Harry's dad.

It is also a little focused on something I really think they should've added in general. Broom athletics. Like, fuck quidditch. Harry being really elegant and smooth on a broom is my jam now. Like, imagine him standing upright on a broom, then leaning back, Accio'ing his broom, and gracefully standing on it again after a scary looking drop.

I don't support J. K. Rowling in any way, but I like Harry Potter. *Pirates the movies and the books cutely */j

Every time I'm reminded that Harry didn't even know what his parents looked like until he found the mirror my heart breaks and HAGRID, WHAT A BIG HEART, HE DESERVES TO LIVE HAPPY ETERNALLY WITH HIS GIANT GIRLFRIEND IN A CASTLE IN FRANCE WITH PLENTY OF ROOM TO KEEP CREATURES OF ALL SIZES.

The slytherin table is at the OTHER SIDE of the great hall, there is no reason for Harry to be fixed on what Malfoy is doing!

NO ONE can tell me that it's only Draco going out of his way to bother Harry because Harry is also ALWAYS aware of what Malfoy is doing LONG BEFORE his family joined a cult.

They were competing every year, work besties no doubt.

1) A big part of the fandom gives Molly a lot of shit as if she had to know about Harry's past when she just met him once before this and you know what? she doesn't know, there is no way she could know, she was not close to Lily or James, GIVE THIS WOMAN MOTHER OF SEVEN A BREAK.

2) Harry you little shit my beloved. No one can break his spirit. You are the best kid.

Final thoughts? More fun than i remembered. The Drarry foundations were there and i'm so glad about it bc who-must-not-be-named would hate it.

Mr and Mrs Evans preferred James Potter more than Vernon Dursley, much to Petunia's jealousy and resentment

In late 1977, James met Lily's parents for the first time and they got along really well. Mr and Mrs Evans found James (who had a great sense of humour) very amusing and charming. Both of Lily's parents (especially her father) really loved James as if he were their son. Mr and Mrs Evans preferred James a lot more than they did Vernon and they got along a lot well with James than they ever did with Vernon, something which exacerbated Petunia's resentment and jealousy of her sister Lily even more. Had Mr and Mrs Evans been alive, their grandson Harry would have been dropped on their doorstep (and NOT the Dursley's) and they would have been loving grandparents to Harry and raised him like a son.

- They were Irish, so they suffered prejudice in England due to their origin.

- Harrison served in the exercise during the Second World War, as did several men in his family, the name "Harry" is a tribute to him who died when Lily was pregnant.

- He worked in the same factory as Tobias, but in the administrative part.

- They were not rich, but working class.

- He and his wife adored Severus, although they found his and Lily's friendship too codependent and worried about what it would be like when they both grew up.

- He taught Severus many things, about personal care, fishing, camping, he loved watching action movies and always took Severus with him because the girls didn't like it. Some of Snape's best memories involve the Evans family.

- They were a very religious Catholic family, but they never treated Lily differently because she was a witch.

- All the women in Rosalie's family are named after flowers, if Lily and Petunia had a daughter they would follow the tradition.

- Petunia looks a lot like her mother, but she inherited her father's blonde hair.

- Petunia was always jealous of Lily, because as she was the youngest she ended up being more spoiled and less scolded by her parents, when her friendship with Severus emerged she felt even more replaced.

- Rosalie died of cancer when Lily was 15 years old, which led to their separation, Harrison died when Lily was pregnant with Harry after a heart attack.

Another set of notes that I’ve had on my phone forever - this is about how I imagine Dudley’s life could be like after the events of Deathly Hallows.

Enjoy!

Dudley Dursley Post-DH

-the Dursleys come out of hiding in late May

-with the help of Hestia Jones and Dedalus Diggle, they get their house back

-all are a bit shaken, but while Vernon gets over everything really quickly, Petunia and especially Dudley are permanently changed

-Vertunia still agree on their anti-magic sentiment though

-Dudley officially graduates from secondary school in 1999

-during his official last year, he becomes quiet and thoughtful

-Harry briefly visits just to check if he’s ok

-Dudley uses this opportunity to stay in touch with him

-a few months later, they have a deep conversation and Dudley finally learns everything his parents have done to Harry over the years and how he himself was complicit

-Dudley is horrified and apologises profusely

-his relationship with his father becomes distant

-he still has a good relationship with his mother though

-after graduation, Dudley works part-time at a restaurant/tea shop while studying Criminology & Criminal Justice

-he still loves boxing and becomes a substitute teacher at his local boxing school

-when he is 26 (in 2006), he meets a Squib named Eldora Steward [name to be possibly changed], who is related to the Ilvermony founder James Steward

-they get married in 2010 and Dudley takes her last name as he wants to severe ties with his family (especially his father)

-the pair move to Brighton

-he also started therapy when he was 20

-in January 2011, Daisy Eldora Steward is born (28.01.2011)

-in April 2015, Heather Dahlia Steward is born (25.04.2015)

-both children are magical

-Daisy is in Ravenclaw, Heather is in Gryffindor
