Tips for Witchcraft in the Dorm

If you're in a situation where you have a roommate that may not be open to your craft, you're in the broom closet and being in college makes it even harder to practice, you're starting your witch journey while in college, you couldn't take a full sized altar to school, or you're like me and attend a private Christian college (ugh) that makes you feel the need to be discreet, this post is for you!

If you have an altar: Find a way to downsize your altar. For some this isn't a huge thing, but I'm the kind of gal that liked to go all out with my space. The best way to do it is to find a box or container that can be moved easily and has all your essentials, and only take what can fit. If you can't fit certain tools, it's best to find substitutions. A small bowl that can hold water will work just as well as a crystal ball. Putting herbs in bags will allow more room than jars.

Alternative to candle magic: I know the urge to put tape over that fire alarm is real but I'm unfortunately a goody two shoes. Luckily wax burners exist and you can get all the fun of candle magic minus the flame. I like to draw sigils into my wax before melting it for spellwork; and you can get all sorts of different colored wax. If you need unscented wax, you can buy white wax and dye it.

Some discreet types of magic to look into:

Tea. Tea. Tea. I cannot stress how useful tea magic is. There's loads of information about it right here on Tumblr! Most dorms allow ectric teapots and tea is easy to store.

Knot magic. Here's a great post about it. Absolutely any kind of spell can be done with a knot and it's super easy to implement into everyday activities.

Moon magic. Guys, the moon is awesome. Work with it. Moon water is a great manifestation tool and corresponding anything with the moon phases is an instant boost. It's also free and super easy.

Sigils. Really fun to learn and really easy to draw in a couple journals, on a foggy window, in your tea as you stir it, or on your skin. I recommend Pinterest if you're trying to find tutorials.

Runes. I like to cast physical runes but there's lots of ways to use these in everyday magic. Each symbol has their own meaning and there's an abundance of information on them. Similar to sigils, I like to draw them on things.

Extra tips:

Learn the correspondences for each day of the week. Doing little things for each day will keep you connected to your craft as you get through college.

Anything can be a chalice. Cleanse that cup and you're good to go.

Astrology is your friend.

I'm here for you. College is hard. Dorming can be a pain too.

RPG Read-through: .dungeon//remastered

For a while on Twitter, I've been doing read-through threads where I post my thoughts as I'm reading through a game for the first time. I recently did the same with Snow's .dungeon//remastered, a TTRPG where you are players logging in to a dead/dying MMO and exploring the digital fantasy world. I'm adapting those thoughts here for a proper Tumblr post! Enjoy!

First up, credits! Good folks who do good work in my experience. Also, we get the first of what seems to be a common through-line here that I enjoy: an online fandom bent to this all being a sort of GameFAQ style guide for an in-universe game.

My initial impression from most of the interior spreads I've seen just flipping through it is that I really love the style and layout. I think black and white layouts are underrated generally, but it really pops here with the pixelated text/symbols and the old school GUIs.

It's interesting to have these kind of "no bigotry" rules you see in many games couched within an in-universe framing. I think this more personal angle actually makes them land better for me than they typically do in games.

Of course, the author is still powerless to stop the players (just like with any instance of these rules, and all game rules in general tbh) BUT this is worldbuilding too, and it gives me a greater sense for the kind of in-universe fandom that's risen up around .dungeon.

Similarly, here's the game's unique version of safety tools - an in-game help menu that reworks things like lines/veils, x-card and more into the game world itself. I really like this.

Once again, the art in this is just great. I love the Fez-like runes/symbols. My ARG brain wants to know if there's a hidden message here.

I was surprised it was jumping right into the starter adventure, Tutorial Town, but I quickly found out that this is character creation AND a starting area/adventure all wrapped into one, video game-style, and that's so cool.

Each room of the starting area introduces a step of character creation. It's interesting that stats are based on real-world (not you the player at the table real-world but your PC at the "real-world" computer playing the game) ability. Your game knowledge, response time, etc.

As a long time Dota player, I also just really enjoy that the saving throw-like stat here is TILT. I have tilted many times and known many of my teammates to tilt regularly. Just fun to see that phrasing in a TTRPG.

There's more of the in-universe real-world player here than I expected coming in. Definitely has some really intriguing potential. I do wonder though if the intent is to be playing a "real-world" level character or if you are "playing" as yourself at that layer. Both would work.

Monster statblocks. Easy to parse and straightforward to run as the GM (tho at time the layout does have one two many things laid on top of one another that can make them hard to read at first glance - like where "GOBLIN" is here):

Health here is SYNC, and it's shared across the whole party - I'm interested to see how that full mechanic plays out and how it may affect play.

Reaction rolls. I'm surprised to see them given the video game setting, cus mobs in MMOs just always attack you. I've gone back and forth on it with my video game-inspired TTRPG. Don't think it's a bad choice, just one that means the game world is more than a usual video game.

So you have your real-world level Job (based on your characters' out of game job) and your in-game "Role" which follow the classic "holy trinity" of MMO design:

PCs and monsters can team up to attack and can forego damage for stunts - potentially fun/interesting moments happening from that. Monsters deal dmg to SYNC but only per type is interesting, means a crowd of one-enemy is more a long trickle of damage than an overwhelming burst.

Not knowing the ramifications of SYNC damage yet, I'm not sure what the Risk v Reward looks like for Respawns but it's intriguing. Letting your avatar die to keep the party in a stronger position overall (but being able to re-join after a fight) is definitely unique.

This is another fun room (and I like that other than saying late 90s/early 2000s it leaves appearance options open). I am not sure where to find the starting origins tho (they aren't on this spread and there's no page reference). Sadly, the PDF isn't bookmarked either, it seems.

This feels like a smart roadblock to place in player's paths early on. It's unlikely they'll have a lockpick at this point so really, it's about getting players into that creative mindset. What is in the room for you to exploit? What gear do you have you can use in a new way?

Might seem basic, especially to the OSR-experienced out there, but you'd be surprised how many players don't have experience with thinking more freeformly about the game in this way. No fault to them, most trad games condition you to use your PC's abilities/skills as a menu.

Another cool interaction between the layers of the game here (tho I do wish they all played more off of something more than just the tarot card being in the real-world layer). Still wondering if most folks play as themselves or as a real-world level PC.

This is interesting. I wonder if there is going to be a real-world layer to play or if this is meant to be the amount your party can heal between sessions of play (like when the actual real you stops playing in actual real life - this meta layer stuff is tricky to communicate).

I like this - a very short and sweet travel system.

I continue to love this art. Also, this tease here around dual-wielding requiring the discovery of new Roles out in the game world somewhere first is really enticing (I added the highlighter there btw).

This is fun - there are both in-game NPCs and PUGs which are other real-world players' in-game avatars. That extra layer to those types of NPCs is really fun and them running the gamut of fully out-of-character chatting to being hardcore RPers is fun to consider.

Whenever it leans into the digital world aspects, I'm super into it. Very much my kinda thing. I do wonder though how often players can swap their Roles. I don't believe I've seen that said yet - my inclination would be once on the fly (like Final Fantasy's Job systems).

And if these various layers weren't enough, .dungeon also features in-game collectible cards that are sort of enchantments and buffs. I wonder if my real-world level character can spend real money to buy Bytes to buy more packs from a merchant in town? lol

I won't spoil/detail too many more of these but these kind of fun (and common to video games but rarely seen when thinking of the world of a game or the intended way to play) moments are really appealing. Also, this game has Goons in it. Oh no.

Now I'm thinking the intention is the "real-world" level of play should be the real actual you, the person playing .dungeon the TTRPG (as opposed to a real-world level character still within the fiction of the game) since stuff like this would be tricky to track. Cool item!

Tutorial Island is cool, a good blend of char creation, intro to what the game is, and just a fun adventure with a session or more of play to it. I'd have to run/play this to really see but I find the Sync being tied to essentially your real-world session length interesting.

This stuff is cool and leans into that meta/fan-level play that only comes out of these big community-driven games, both MMOs but also things like Dark Souls.

A lot of these kind of possible secrets come as comments in the text, possibly just to inspire the GM and to get players interested in ways that the table can build out on their own over time. So far, I don't see some of the more esoteric secrets to be laid out (which I like).

The rest of the book, as far as I've seen, is lots of resources, gear tables, monsters, etc. to build out the game after player's leave Tutorial Island. The game world here has that anything goes Final Fantasy bent to it. There's swords & wagons, but laser guns & skateboards too.

The setting here is also explicitly queer (mostly seen so far in the "real-world" PUGs) and includes things like sex workers and other elements that it maybe could not have had but that would certainly lessen the richness of its world, the fandom presented throughout, etc.

The spellcasting uses the in-game money as mana points essentially. That's a cool way to limit spellcasting and motivate player's, especially spellcasters, to get out there and make some $$$.

Okay, here's the real-world explanation I was waiting for (after the in-game gear lists and such). This is cool - it's fun to have a real-life layer to this and to have the game's world support that sort of dropping in and out, doing things outside of a full party session, etc.

I know a lot of folks do this with ongoing campaigns anyway, but this is one of those fun things to include here to build that in as an expectation in play. You have your raid nights with friends and you have your little solo sessions after work where you sell your loot.

Now, the rest is a nice collection of random dungeon, NPC, settlement, hexfill tables and more. Everything you'd expect from an OSR-like ruleset but occasionally with some fun added meta-layers.

Players getting a quest from an in-game Moderator and then being able to become a Mod themselves is a really fun idea and something I could envision becoming a long-term goal for one or more players at a table. The threat of encountering an Admin is scary as well!

To finish it up, we've got a cool AASCII-style character sheet, complete with MingLiU-ExtB font (my beloved)!

And that's .dungeon//remastered! I really enjoyed reading this, and I think it has a strong core that's really enhanced by its real-world interaction layer. Gonna put this on "Play Soon" list. There are some smart rules in particular I'll likely steal for a future project.

alright, the other day i loosely implied that i would make a behind the scenes/tutorial type of thing. momma didn't raise no liar, so here goes nothing i guess!

step 1) rough sketch

honestly i skip this entirely if have a really concrete idea of what i want to do. sometimes compositions are just beamed into my brain from On High and a sketch is unnecessary.

step 2) 3d ref

this is where i refine the composition, lighting, camera angles, props, etc. i use DAZ studio for model posing and blender for almost everything else (props, horns, lighting, rendering).

here's a 10 minute video on how to pose models in DAZ if you're interested in doing something like this! it's not very hard! basic posing requires almost no technical know-how.

i've heard magicposer and virt-a-mate are also good for model posing, but i don't have any experience with either program.

after i'm done posing, i transfer the models to blender so i can work on props, environment, and lighting because doing it in DAZ is ass. you can see that i went overboard on the ref for the paladin i worked on last year by modelling armor.

step 3) lineart

at this stage i'm synthesizing my 3d models, reference images, and style choices into lines.

the 3d likeness of my models is poor because I don't have time for that shit, so this is where my humongous folder full of bg3 screenshots comes into play.

for example: looking at my screenshots, astarion's forehead tilts back towards the back of his skull, much more so than my reference model. his chin and jaw are sharper and longer, and the transition between his brow ridge and nose is almost a straight line. if i combine the information from my 3d model and astarion's face, i get something like this:

3d models aren't fleshy (ie, tummy rolls, wrinkles, muscle deformations, butt squish) unless one puts in A LOT of effort like absolute madman chris jones.

you guys know bernini, right? he has a couple great examples of this. see how hades' hands press in on persephone's leg?

this is what we want to add in the lineart because it's too much effort for 3d. laziness is king.

i guess i draw clothes at this stage too, but for some reason there aren't many in this image. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

step 4) base color

i have a little color picked palette that i use for everybody so i get their skintones right before i start messing with colored lighting. i'll use overlay and hard/soft light layers clipped to the base layer during the shading step later.

step 5) shading

if you thought we were done with the 3d part, guess again! i posterize my 3d reference so i can see the shapes of the shadows and highlights better. if i'm not feeling it, i can go back to 3d and change the lighting really easily.

could I make a cel shader for this? yes. am I going to? No. custom shaders are for people with intelligence and I am fresh out. posterization it is.

from there, i do a pretty standard cel shading deal that i usually blur and set to low opacity. (for this image i stuck to no blur because i had been looking at a lot of morebird's art and was really feeling the hard edges)

photoshop is what i use for final rendering because it has bangin tools. the brush customization alone make ps worth it, but i also particularly abuse puppet warp, noise generation, the camera raw filter, and layer styles.

step 6) background

i put the least effort possible into a background and then i blur it into oblivion so you can't fathom the depths of my ineptitude.

My FNAF AU has been sorted out. In the sense that the timeline has been re-written enough that I can go back to drawing it..

Now the next comic in the AU is a re-write/re-draw of my old FNAF comic, Moon Malfunction. A few months ago though there were several time sensitive projects that came up and I needed to shelf Moon Malfunction 2.0 until they were done. Well now they're all done.. but Moon Malfunction is gonna take me some time to get around to..

For the past few months I've been in a really bad spot mentally and physically. And taking on my FNAF Recap/Repair project is just not something I feel I have the mental energy to do at the moment.. All it feels like is a one big pile of work. And all I wanna do I just draw what ever comes easily to me and focus on recovering..

Soooo for the time being,, my main FNAF AU might not see any updates for a bit.. Though I haven't forgotten about it and I do want to get back to it at some point soon. But for now I want to cut any work out of my relaxing/drawing time and just draw what ever I want. Which atm is pirate cookies-- <XDD

They're also great for grabbing something across the room while I stay in bed 😎😎

Now if the crew did face a violent altercation like that, I imagine their #1 goal would to protect the Octopod. That's their home man! They would probably do what ever they could to get the octopod away from the situation. Like the Captain manually piloting it and some of the crew being sent out in gups to distract the squid. Stuff like that :0

San said because Choi rhymes with Boy and he was your favorite boy (which they all disagreed with and said it was them)

Mingi said because he asked very nicely (and it almost worked)

Wooyoung said because being a Jung made him the Ateez sexy guy and if you took his you could he sexy to (you were offended he didn’t think you were already sexy)

Jongho said because being a Choi made him and San good singers, so if you took his last name you could he a good singer too (you were very offended he didn’t think you were already going at singing)

I'm imagining that even in a poly relationship between MC, Cove, Derek, and Baxter that Derek would still want a lot of kids. That house would be very packed.

Me too! I get why the whole thing is that Derek wants kids if MC does, but in his heart of hearts, I think he'd want to be a dad. There is no quiet space in that house lol. Derek's gonna have to build a shed out back where everyone can take turns having a moment to themselves.

-- If you can and want to get pregnant, then that might be the way to go! Just you pregnant with your three guys to dote all over you, lol, what a big ol lovefest

-- Cove is glued to your side for the whole nine months (well, he's always glued to your side, but he's going to be extra close now just in case you need anything)

-- Derek has the prenatal care under control. He's got your vitamins, all your doctors appointments memorized, he's reading the baby books, he is prepared.

-- Do you need a massage because being pregnant hurts? Baxter's right there.

-- But somebody is gonna have to keep an eye on Baxter too because he is Very Emotional at the prospect of starting a family. He is very tender.

-- Derek's building the crib, Baxter is designing it. Cove is watching, eating snacks and rooting them on.

-- Derek's in charge of installing the car seats in all the cars. Don't test him on this, he read the manual ten times and watched a couple of hours worth of youtube tutorials.

-- Cliff is going to be over all the time, hope that's cool.

-- Cove is so excited to take the kid to the beach, but he's going to have to wait because Baxter ordered the baby sunscreen with the highest ratings online and it'll need time to get delivered.

-- Baxter is making his own baby food. You can call him silly for it, he doesn't mind.

-- Derek and Baxter at least will definitely want at least two kids.

-- Derek bought a minivan.

-- Cove cries a million times more as a parent than he did before. He just loves his kids so much and that love unlocked all sorts of new feelings. And they are very big feelings.

-- Baxter really loves being a dad, but he's worried he won't do it right because his own dad wasn't great. He'll do everything to make sure the kids feel accepted and appreciated and seen like he never did.

-- Derek is thrilled and confident and having the time of this life. Maybe a third kid would be fun!

I know this is wildly different from my usual art posts BUT I have wanted to make it for a long, long time, because I love sharing any knowledge that might help someone else. SO...

If you (A) don't want to spend more than 1 minute on your face routine, (B) don't want to completely change what your face structure looks like with makeup to have a consistent skin appearance and/or (C) have cystic/nodal/regular acne that just doesn't go away no matter what people tell you to do,

then I give to you:

My One Single Product 1 Minute Makeup Tutorial For People Who Don't Wear Makeup

In which I bravely show you my face to illustrate

Before and after on one of my "best" skin days:

It's very likely this is common knowledge for a lot of people BUT I wish I had known it when I was in my teens and struggling with a severe skin condition I thought would eventually go away and never did.

[TLDR: It's a concealer stick that matches your skin]

No, having a skin condition doesn't mean you need to cover it. However, that doesn't mean it can't still hurt your self image, confidence, and relationships with people who give you unsolicited comments on it (because you want to throw them out the window).

SO HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED:

A concealer stick, my preference being Covergirl's CG Smoothers. They're non-comodogenic and somehow seem to help with my acne, maybe just because covering it helps me not pick at it.

Now, I am the pastiest, whitest shade of white, so I use two shades: "Fair" for my face, which has more of a pink hue, and "Neutralizer" (wheeze) for my neck because it gets even less sun than my face, and is both paler and less pink.

You might be able to get along just fine with one tone if you don't get acne on your neck and chest or have a more even skin tone, but the most important thing is to get the shade that matches your skin tone as close as possible.

To do this, either look in a mirror in the most natural light you can find and hold up your hands and arms until you find a spot that matches your face the closest, then compare the makeup in the store to this. OR.... Just bring a little mirror with you to the store.

STEPS:

1. Start with a clean face. (Wipe your face with a wet cloth if you haven't washed your face already that day)

Optional step 2. Put on a little moisturizer if your skin dries out and flakes, like mine does. I'm allergic to my cats so I use a medicated cream in place of moisturizer lmao

3. Swipe the concealer directly onto red spots, scabs, or bumps, and rub it in with your finger making a soft halo that blends in with the rest of your skin.

...and that's it.

You don't have to do your whole face. You're only adjusting the parts that stands out so they blend in and leaving the rest alone. Some days I cover a few spots, other days it feels like my whole face.

It can't always completely everything, but it makes everything much less noticeable. The shape of scabs may still be there:

It won't cover freshly bleeding wounds well, either... But it will cover the red skin around it:

Like with any makeup, always remove it before you go to bed!!! With makeup remover or a cleanser! Cheap, unscented makeup wipes work great for me.

So yeah, I'm 30 and only just now started finally seeing improvement in my own skin because I did my own research and asked a doctor to try treatments for hormonal acne instead of all the antibiotic approaches, meaning I'm on spironolactone and thus also a mandatory birth control. But hey! It's something.

Having control over how my face looks helps my confidence and self image, like controlling how my hair or clothes look. I don't feel like I have to wear it any more than I don't have to wear my hair short, I just like it that way.

I also hope that this might be able to help guys too, or anyone else who feels like they're not "allowed" to wear makeup but still struggle with the look of their own skin, since the lack of any other product means you really don't look like you're "wearing makeup".

While he reviews his presentation notes, his warm breath grazing across the tops of your knuckles, you fumble with the strip of fabric, wondering why your fingers feel so leaden. Oh, that’s because you don’t really know how to tie a tie even when you’re wide awake. You curse when you realize that you’ve ended up playing cat’s cradle with yourself.

“You don’t know how to do this, huh?” he says, smiling.

“I don’t know why you even asked me,” you grumble as you reach for your phone, hoping that the first web result will be an easy tutorial.

“Because it always makes me laugh.”

“Asshole.”

The spontaneous road trip is your idea, so you’re the one driving, which means that it’s time to roll the windows down, blast the music loud, and shout all of the lyrics until you lose your voice. Minho is making up the words as he goes, hyping you up when he can’t make up any more lyrics to the cheesy hype songs you like so much. It’s not until the sun is almost down that you realize that you haven’t been attention to your surroundings at all. Gone are the typical street signs and establishments; how the fuck are you guys in the middle of nowhere?

“We’re definitely lost,” you say. “Can you pull up the GPS?”

“There’s no service out here. Turn around, maybe there’s signal back there.”

You comply and keep driving, waiting for him to announce that he’s got a signal, and after a few heart-stopping seconds, he finally does.

“Told you we should’ve have picked a destination,” he jokes. “We could have died.”

“But that’s why it’s fun!”

Thick, gray clouds predicate the rainstorm, so you and Changbin wait excitedly under the porch until the rain starts falling. Item number 17 on the relationship bucket list: kiss in the rain. “I heard it’s going to drizzling tomorrow,” he slyly says. “We can try again. I’m down if you’re down.”

“I’m down if there’s no downpour.”

This problem would not have existed if you were less stingy, but you are not, so here you are, traipsing through the ancient rose bushes on your property, trying not to get pricked by any thorns. In one gloved hand, you have kitchen scissors, and in the other, a measly three pink roses. The red roses never seem to bloom, and you wonder if this is a omen. You find a yellow rose that looks presentable and add it to your flimsy bouquet. Unfortunately, those are the only four roses that aren’t on the verge of dying, so you head inside to surprise Hyunjin with what you have.

“What’s this?” he says, trying to hold in a laugh.

You hide your bandaged hand behind your back. “Proof that I love you. I would have bought you nice ones, but my blood’s on these, so they’re worth more.”

“We’re doing blood sacrifices, huh?”

“Only the best for my love.”

han jisung - leaving notes for each other

While Jisung writes notes to you on the loveliest stationery ever, you are not quite as romantic as he is and prefer to use whatever you have lying around, be it the back of a take-out receipt or a ripped out corner of a flyer. Your note to him today is on a brown paper bag. Using a black marker, you copy the lines from a poem across the top and leave the bag beside his collection of mugs, only to spy a cream-colored piece of paper nestled in between two red mugs. With a smile, you pluck it out and unfold it. In the nicest calligraphy ever, complete with extraneous flourishes, it reads Bitch. Of course you have to add your very own elegant “bitch” to end of that very sweet poem.

When Jisung comes out to the kitchen for breakfast, he spies your note immediately. After he reads it, without looking up, he says, “Bitch.”

You kiss him good morning on the cheek. “Bitch.”

In your half-awake state, you feel the bed shift, but since you spent last night holding back your friend’s hair, you think nothing of it and fall back into a deeper slumber. The next thing you know, the sun is in your lidded eyes, and Felix is gently shaking you. You barely register his morning greeting and mumble something unintelligible back before sitting up in bed. Unfortunately, since your eyes are still shut and since he gave no warning that a tray of food was balancing over your body, breakfast goes flying everywhere. Say goodbye to toast, eggs, bacon, and a glass of orange juice.

“I’m so sorry,” you moan as you take in the mess on the blanket and the carpet. “I’ll clean it up.”

“No, it’s okay. I got it.”

That doesn’t deter you. You gingerly step onto the floor and pick up the two pieces of toast. “What are you talking about? Sunday mornings are made for this.”

kim seungmin - sharing an umbrella

It sounded like a cute idea at first, but it’s absolutely horrible in practice because Seungmin has a tiny, tiny umbrella. It’s a green frog umbrella with pop-up eyes, which confirms your suspicions that it was made for a child, but you step under it anyway. The walk to the car from the museum is long, and you and he struggle to stay dry beneath the small canopy. It doesn’t matter that you’re practically hugging him; neither of you are safe. His wool sweater scratches against your own, and you keep bracing yourself for a shock of static every time he shifts the umbrella handle in his hand.

“Told you we should have brought my funeral umbrella,” you say as an incoming gust pelts your damp cheek with more rain.

His entire left side is drenched, but he smiles anyway. “You don’t like frogs?”

“Frogs like getting wet, I do not. Hey, stop trying to shield me.”

So he pushes the umbrella into your hands and runs out into the rain, laughing maniacally as he splashes into a puddle.

“You’re going to catch a cold tomorrow!” you shout, chasing after him.

yang jeongin - dancing ‘round the kitchen in the refrigerator light

At midnight, the windows are open, a summer song plays from Jeongin’s laptop, and the smell of pancakes wafts all throughout the kitchen. Jeongin is at the counter, topping his pile of pancakes with an abundance of whipped cream, while you dance around him on your tiptoes. He joins during the next song and sways his arms in the air before grabbing both of your hands. The two of you spin around in circles, laughing until you can no longer breathe properly. You dizzily stumble into the counter, hitting your ribs and feet against the counter.

You let out a long swear, completely ruining the atmosphere. “I’m fine, don’t worry.”

He’s concerned, but a faint smile appears anyway. “Are you sure? Because your hand is in a plate of pancakes.”

“I meant for that to happen.”

“Just like you meant to bruise your ribs?”

“Of course,” you say, trying not to wince.

The antagonist of the musical, Shakespeare is basically a rock star poet who just kinda wants to be famous with none of the work, so while he is a good writer, he tends to steal ideas and lines wherever he can while having a great time. He flirts with ladies in the crowds, squeezes the ass of one of his male backup dancers as he ends his performance, constantly goes "Did you see what I did there?" When he makes a funny or smart remark, has mommy issues (the key to making a menace), and is an all around drama queen. I really recommend the slime tutorial Tap Dancing Eggs the Musical on YouTube if you haven't seen Something Rotten before, the entire musical is just hilarious and I actually learned the entirety of Sonnet 18 because of one of the songs. He is the definition of a babygirl, a girlboss, just a little guy, and a birthday boy all wrapped into one.

Admires Alejandro so he toned it down a bit when it came to working with him.

He’s very serious when it comes to work but such a goofball when it comes to friends and family.

Painter Katsuki who is a clean painter gets a minimum about of paint on his hands and while usually, a great multitasker can listen to you talk while painting but cannot (or more so will not) do anything else with his hands.

Painter Hanta who always manages to get paint somewhere it's not supposed to be when he paints. Whether that be the couch, the wall, maybe even the curtain, or the bed. (He definitely makes excuses saying that "The wall looked too bland anyway" and some other stuff about an artistic touch.)

Painter Katsuki who is very careful about not getting paint anywhere it's not supposed to be. (He looked up and tried every tutorial he could find after accidentally spilling paint on the rug.)

Painter Hanta who goes out to buy new supplies all the time. Sometimes not even finishing old supplies just leaving them there to find some time later.

Painter Katsuki who scrapes the containers and folds the tubes until he's sure nothing is coming out before he goes to buy new supplies.

Painter Hanta who takes his time finishing his art. Not feeling the need to rush, he'll leave his art sitting there for a week even before thinking about maybe resuming it. He might even start a new artwork and come back to that one a month later.

Painter Katsuki who likes getting things done and out of the way before he moves on. Staying up late into the night to finish an artwork so he doesn't have to worry about it the next day.

Painter Hanta who does his best under relaxed and timely circumstances. Giving him time to relax and breathe in between.

Painter Katsuki who works best under pressure. He's not a procrastinator but he forces himself to get things done early giving him time to relax and breathe after.

Painter Hanta who likes to paint you or paint with you. He just enjoys spending time with you, it's one of his love languages.

Painter Katsuki who just enjoys your presence when he's painting. He doesn't find it distracting at all in fact it keeps his brain focused. He likes to listen to something while he paints so when you're around rather than listening to music or something he enjoys listening to you talk about your day or anything that comes to mind.

Painter Hanta who accidentally ruins one of his best paintings while he was mad and ends up going into a forced artist block for a week. It didn't take you long to encourage him to remake it since Hanta does great with encouragement. So he made it again and it was better than the last time but it also ended up giving off a really sad vibe. You didn't say anything though because you knew he'd feel bad about it and trash it again.

Painter Katsuki who makes an angry painting when he was mad painting that came out oddly beautiful and was one of his best sellers at his next auction.

Painter Hanta whose best-seller was a full-length portrait of you from the view of the ground up. You hadn't seen it until the auction. You were wearing a thing robe and you swear he made you prettier and he swears that's how you look. He jokes about it all the time because the guy the bought it was so weirdly fascinated with your anatomy even attempting to get your number after realizing it was you. (He definitely has some sketchy buyers.)

Painter Katsuki whose best-seller was the landscape of your dream house. It was so pretty that you begged him to make a copy to hang in your room. He definitely did (because he gives you whatever you want.) changing a few of the things you didn't mind changing because he doesn't enjoy making the same paintings twice. He also wanted yours to be different from the rando who got the last one. It came out better for sure.

Digimon: Battle Spirit - Final Thoughts

My first Digimon GBA game! The GBA SP was my first handheld as a kid, so it holds a special place in my heart. In my experience, licensed games for the GBA were always really short and this one is no exception. It takes less than an hour to beat if you know what you're doing. I beat it twice for good measure. To complete the game, I'd have to beat it like 10 times to unlock all the digimon, but I rather move on. The gameplay for this one was pretty meh, but as you can probably tell from my screenshots, the sprite art was adorable!!

Notes:

My first playthrough of this game I lost a lot because I had no idea what was going on. This is another one that could have really benefitted from a tutorial round because I was very lost (I guess they expect you to read the manual).

This is technically a fighting game, but your goal isn't really to K.O. anyone. Instead you're meant to knock little orbs out of them and whoever collects the most wins. I didn't find the "hit and run" gameplay that satisfying . To be honest, when I switched on easy mode the game was a lot more fun because you could just beat the enemy up like a sandbag. (My first playthrough was on normal mode with Terriermon, second was easy with Guilmon).

Very similar to the last Wonderswan game I played, this one has Impmon as an optional boss. I just thought it was curious that they both threw that in there.

The final boss is Millenniumon. It was cool to fight him directly since in other games I've fought him using a turn-based approach. At first I thought the fight was really hard, but then I learned the strategy for dodging his attacks and it's actually pretty easy. Kinda like a Zelda boss.

When you beat the game it gives you passwords for Digimon Rumble Arena. I think it's really fun when games interact like that. It's great for people like me who try to play all the games in a franchise.

Supposedly the Wonderswan version of this game is the "definitive" version because it has extra digimon in it. Maybe I'll check it out someday, but I'm not making it a priority.

Hi! Yes I made the coat and the waistcoat of my silly little outfit myself!! I'm glad you like them!

I'm not good enough at sewing to do my own patterns or work fully off actual historical ones unfortunately, so i did them mostly off this pattern for the waistcoat + this one for the frock coat (with a couple small modifications as I went on my part). they're okay as patterns go I'd say, they have the strong benefit in that they're fairly specific in time period + historically focused, so they're not like. any old waistcoat and coat from any time (bc these things change a lot!!) -- although I def remember them being a little unclear in some parts which took a bit puzzling over (for me at least) to sort out what was going on

if you're looking for historical patterns, these guys are really good from what I can tell; although I haven't fully finished anything from them yet I'm currently in the middle of making (with some adjustments for hip/waist ratio lol) these breeches from their pattern and it has been great so far! the added benefits of this one is that they have a blog where they take you through tutorials of some of the patterns step by step with pictures (e.g. the breeches) which has been Really helpful when I've gotten stuck to see it being done. they also are based quite closely off of actual period patterns from what I can tell

If you're better with patterns than I am, there's this invaluable book called The Cut of Men's Clothes 1600-1900 (PDF here) which has actual historical tailor's patterns you can look at, as well as discussion & illustrations of the periods of clothing. This is a really cool book that I look at a lot, but to be honest the actual patterns are a little beyond me at my skill level. Hopefully I'll get there though, I'm working on it!

Not patterns strictly but this is a very cool blog (also here on tumblr with a main here) about sewing historical clothing + the process of sewing it which I have found very cool
