poly!marauders x fem!reader who talks to her cat
Remus felt sort of bad for Lily at the way the boys all deflated when it had been her who opened the door to your shared flat instead of you. Thankfully, the red-head just laughed and invited them all in.
“Sorry to disappoint boys.” She jested as they all made themselves at home on your couch.
“Oh, we’re always happy to see you, Lily.” James said at the same time as Sirius grumbled “you should be”, earning him a pinch in the ribs by Remus.
“Hey!” Lily called down the hall. “The boys are here!”
Remus winced at a painful sounding thump and a muffled. “Okay thanks! I’m almost ready!”
The boys were very excited, if James’ knee bouncing and Sirius’ impish smirk wasn’t obvious enough. Lily had been gushing about how sweet her new roommate was and how she thought you’d get along really well with the group of friends, and she’d been right. You came to two pub nights and the boys were hooked; constantly asking Lily for updates and if you’d be at the next one.
Lily had grown so tired of playing messenger that she asked you if she could give them your phone number, to which you had agreed.
The four of you had been in a group chat for nearly a month and a half before they felt brave enough to ask you out on an official date.
“Where are you guys going tonight?” Lily asked as she sat in an armchair in the living area where the boys were waiting.
“We’re going to the pub on 42nd.” James answered readily.
“The one with the board games and vintage video games?” Lily clarified.
“Yup. That way there’s something for us to do if conversation lulls, and something for James to do with his hands.” Sirius explained teasingly, causing James to blush and lean into his side as if he were trying to hide inside of Sirius’ smaller frame.
“Don’t tease the lad.” Lily admonished playfully. “He’s already likely nervous enough. I don’t think you lot have to worry about tonight though; conversation never lulls with her around.”
Remus tilted his head in bemusement at Lily’s comment but never got to ask for clarification before he heard some muttering.
“Would you stop that?” He could hear you mutter quietly; barely any ire detected in your tone.
“Please don’t do this, I’m already late.” You begged before a big crash took place. “For fuck’s sa- why.”
“You’re not allowed to get ready with me anymore.” You declared to your bedroom. Remus shared a look with Sirius and James before turning towards Lily who only shook her head and brought her finger to her lips.
“Don’t look at me like that!” You carried on. “If you want to be here to see me off, you need to behave yourself.”
It was quiet for a few moments. “No, knocking over my jewelry stand is not behaving.”
They listened to you shuffling around before you let out a big sigh. “I love you too, but you are stressing me out. Do you want to watch shows with Lily tonight while I’m gone? Hm? Let’s go ask.”
Finally, you exited your room and made your way down the hall, entering the living area before pausing to take in the fact that the four occupants of your flat were all staring at you with varying levels of bemusement and amusement.
And trotting happily behind you was a small cat seemingly none the wiser to the fact that it just made its mistress look like a fool in front of her dates.
You chuckled awkwardly. “How much did you hear?”
Lily snorted and pat her legs as an invitation for your feline friend, who happily agreed, hopping and curling up on the red-head’s lap.
“Enough to know that knocking over your jewelry stand is not behaving.” Sirius teased salaciously.
You groaned and moved to cover your face with your hands, but James was having none of that and quickly made for you.
“Don’t hide that beautiful face from us; it’d be a shame if the only one who got to appreciate your date night look was your cat.” He commented as he gently pulled your hands away from your face.
You still looked awfully embarrassed but acquiesced. “A bad cat, at that.” You spat to the ball of fur currently sitting with your roommate without any real malice.
“Oi!” Lily defended quickly, brushing broad strokes over the cat like the villain from Austin Powers. “Don’t speak ill of Princess Bernadette the Third.”
“Princess Bernadette?” Sirius asked bewilderedly at the same time as James murmured “the Third?”
“Birdie, Lily. My cat’s name is Birdie.” You corrected, not at all amused.
Lily raised her nose in the air. “When we stay home to watch Bridgerton without you lot, she’s Princess Bernadette the Third. Now off with you, we have Ball’s to attend, and you have gentlemen to court.”
Remus watched with a loving smile as you flushed furiously at that, laughing when it only deepened as Sirius suddenly stood and made his way for you, bowing with a flourish and pressing a kiss to your knuckles. “Shall we, m’lady?”
You gave him an eye roll but Remus could tell it was mostly for show as you bore a sickeningly sweet smile and accepted James’ elbow as you made your way to the door.
“Have fun you guys!” Lily called towards the door as Remus bent down to scritch Birdie on the chin.
“You too, Princess Bernadette, Princess Lillith.” He offered with his most posh accent and a quick bow before joining his two boyfriends and their date at the door.

After that special night with Ellie, you realized there was no more ignoring the situation at hand. She left you feeling empty just as quick as she had made you feel full. And you cared so much for her, despite the fact. No matter how much you wanted to stand your ground, your mind always got stuck on the possibilities. The possibility that Ellie was feeling everything you were… The possibility that there was a happy ending in sight… The possibility that Cat meant nothing.
With all these feelings circling your mind, you felt too biased to make the right decision when it came to her. You decided it was time to tell Dina. You quickly picked up your phone and gave her a call, inviting her out to coffee. Thankfully Dina offered to drive, as you were still stranded at Ellie’s bandmates place. 10 minutes later, she was out front honking.
Dina greeted you with a squeal, “Hiii love!! I missed you!”
Before you could reciprocate her greeting she spoke again, “Wait who’s house is this? How was last night? Oh my god Y/n, did you hook up with someone?? Pleaseee tell me!!” Dina’s thoughts were going 100 mph trying to guess the context of this little rendezvous.
“That’s why I asked you to coffee. Trust me, I’m going to explain everything.” Your mysterious answer left Dina even more intrigued. The both of you arrived at the coffee shop, ordered your drinks, and took a seat at a little table in the corner.
“Soooo… TELL ME ALREADY,” Dina exclaimed impatiently as you fidgeted in your seat not even sure where to start. You stared through the shop window at nothing in particular as you mulled over the timeline of Ellie and you. Dina could see the cogs in your brain turning and knew this conversation was going to be about more than a silly little one night stand. You finally spoke 3 words, “it’s about Ellie.”
“Ellie? God I should’ve known, I’m literally your best friend!!”
“It's fine D, I’ve been pretty radio silent about my love life on purpose. See, it’s much more complicated. Like a gut wrenching, sick and twisted, WLW heartbreak kind of complicated. How long can you stay and talk?”
“I’m all yours babe, give me every last detail. I'm serious,” Dina urged. So, you did. The debrief took a total of 3 hours and 2 iced coffees to get through. It felt so good getting everything off your chest.
Dina gave you just the right advice too, “Communication is key.” You knew it was stupid but talking about it upfront was the last thing you had thought to do. It seemed too scary to face Ellie like that, but you knew it was the right choice. Sure it was hard dealing with these feelings and you wanted answers, but you also lived with this girl. You owed it to yourself and to her to figure out this bullshit. You didn’t want to be in a constant state of tension and resentment every time the two of you had to be around each other (which was all the time).
After a morning well spent, you and Dina said your goodbyes and she dropped you back off at your dorm. You walked through the front doors and swiped your student ID to access the elevator. You leaned against the cold, metal walls as you brainstormed how to approach Ellie. You had a good idea of what to say up until you were opening the door and coming face to face with her. She made you forget everything. But, despite your blank mind, you were determined.
“Ellie, we need to talk, seriously.” You tried to assert yourself, but your breaths were shaky from nerves. Ellie looked up from her desk nonchalantly and gave you a blank stare like she had no idea what you were talking about. This really pissed you off.
“Don’t give me that fucking look Ellie, you know exactly what I’m talking about. How could you just leave me like that?”
“Hey relax, it’s not like that.” she stood up and answered calmly, which made you want to slap her even more. Ellie could put on a game face better than she could ever be vulnerable. No matter the damage her lack of honesty caused.
“It’s not like that? Be real with yourself for one fucking second Ellie.”
“Fuck you bro, I don’t need this shit.” she retaliated, not meaning a word she spat out.
“FUCK YOU!” you shouted, moving into her space. Instead of moving back, Ellie stayed right there with you, standing her ground. You felt the heat of her body against yours and an erotic sensation growing between your legs. Your eyes began to glaze over with tears of desperation, she had this unexplained power over you.
“Ellie, I- I can’t keep doing this with you.”
“Can’t keep doing what?” she asked. It’s like Ellie needed you to admit it first before she could even acknowledge it on her own. She longed to hear your passionate confessions and anguished pleas.
“I can’t keep beating around the bush with you. I like you Ellie and it’s driving me fucking crazy because you act like you could care less. You taunt me with your stupid sexy charm and stupid flirty touch just to run right back to Cat. But right here, right now, you can’t deny the tension between us. I need you Ellie.” Tears began to stream down your face and you wiped them away with haste. A beat of loud silence echoed through the room before Ellie finally answered.
“I don’t mean to tease, but there’s just so much at stake when it comes to me and you. Can't you see? I know I’m a piece of shit. I mean, here I am with a perfectly fine girlfriend, yet inches away from my roommate, hardly able to resist her touch.”
“Then don't Ellie. Forget about everyone and please just kiss me.” You were practically begging, it was so pitiful. Ellie placed a hand to your shoulder and shoved you against the wall.
“God Y/n just STOP IT!”
You melted under her agonizing touch, “W-why not me?” You stuttered and took in  her hot breaths that hit your face as she panted through her frustration. It wasn’t much longer till the two of you could no longer restrain.
Ellie stared at her dirty converse to avoid your pleading eyes, “I just can’t, I can’t cheat. I'm not a cheater.” She was shaking her head profusely as if to rid her mind of the lustful thoughts that consumed her. She wanted you so bad it hurt. You took her face in your hands and lifted her gaze to yours in a last attempt.
“Ellie-,” you gasped, as the aching became unbearable. You’d surrender to her touch right now if she only asked. As Ellie looked back at you, she wished Cat didn’t exist, you were all she ever wanted and you were right there. She just had to say the words and you’d be hers.
Ellie’s head fell into the crook of your neck in desperation. Her hands moved up and down your clothed body searching for some sort of release.
“Ellie please, I need you.” you whimpered into her ear. The vibrations sent a shiver of pleasure down her spine and just like that she snapped. All her morals disappeared as she found your wrist and grasped it firmly, leading your hand to the waistband of your pants.
She whispered back, “show me.” With her permission your hand darted down to the ache. You slid your fingers through the mess Ellie invoked with just her words before stopping on the big ball of nerves that begged to be touched.
Before you could ease the yearning down below, Ellie interrupts, “I said show me.” A smirk grew upon her face as she watched you discern the meaning of her risky comment. You retrieved your fingers in obedience to Ellie and were prepared to do whatever else she asked.
Immediately, Ellie took your sticky fingers and brought them to her plump lips. Slowly she planted kisses from the tips of your digits down to your knuckles. It felt like a dream. Of course, Ellie knew she should stop, but when her freckled nose caught the sweet smell of your juices she dreamed of tasting them too.
“Put your hands back in your pants.” she demanded with agency. Back inside they went, fingers quick to locate your empty hole. You couldn’t take it, your middle finger gently slid in and a breath escaped your open mouth. You shut your eyes and an in-and-out rhythm ensued. Ellie grew wet herself as she watched you writhe with pleasure. She couldn’t help but tell you.
“I love watching you touch yourself like that.” Her comment evoked a strained moan from your lips as you imagined her fingers inside instead of your own. Ellie cupped her cunt, trying to fight her infidelity but failing miserably.
“Can I see your fingers again please? I- I wanna taste it.”
“Need me that bad?” you teased, like you hadn’t been dreaming of this moment for ages. But Ellie had no time for games and took matters into her own hands. She captured your fingers herself. Her tongue flattened to the length of them before her mouth completely closed in on the treat. She sucked with vigor until your flavor dissipated.
“Tastes so good” she hummed, eyes blown out with pleasure.
“How about you really taste it?” you taunted. The twisted and erotic nature of the interaction left you in a trance.
“You know I can’t Y/n. It- It would be wrong.” Ellie spoke as if sucking your roommates slick right off her fingers wasn’t just as much of a betrayal as any sexual act. At this point morals felt so out of the question but your words from nights before continued to repeat in her head.
“Me? Mess it up for you? Don’t worry Ellie, you can do that all on your own, believe me.”
She was at odds with herself, not knowing whether to dive in head first or run away while she could.
“Please Ellie, I need you inside me.” you begged. She brushed the back of her hand down your face apologetically and planted a kiss on your forehead.
A single tear fell as she said, “I just can’t do this. I have to go,” and turned towards the door. Ellie disappeared out of the room and you sunk to the floor, defeated once more. I guess old habits really do die hard.
After Ellie left, she didn’t show back up to your dorm for the next 3 days. At first you were pissed off and hurt, but the longer she was gone, the more that bitterness turned into worry. She became the only thing on your mind. You had tried calling and texting but to no avail. Out of desperation, you even decided to ask Cat in class. Dina supervised from afar as you confronted her.
“Cat, I know you don’t like me, but can I please just ask you something,” you said with hesitance.
“Great observation! You’re right, I don’t like you. Now, what do you want?” she snapped.
“It’s about Ellie, I haven't seen her in 3 days and I’m really worried. Do you know where she is?” Cat paused to think before she gave you an answer.
“She’s been staying at my place. Is there a problem? I mean, I am her girlfriend,” she scoffed. Truthfully, Cat hadn’t seen Ellie for the past 3 days either but God forbid she let you find that out. She didn’t want you thinking you had any sort of chance with her girlfriend now that she seemed to be getting iced out too.
Of course, her plan worked just how she wanted and you were just about ready to give up on Ellie. You walked back to your dorm dragging your feet hopelessly. When you arrived you were greeted by none other than the girl who’d been fueling your worry.
“Ellie? What the fuck. What are you doing here?”
“I mean, I live here right?” she answered while rummaging through her things. Here she goes again, pissing you off like usual.
“I thought you did too until you went awol for 3 whole days without saying a thing. If you wanna stay with Cat that bad just tell me. I don’t need you sparing my feelings. You’ve already done enough.” Your anger spoke for you and Ellie was baffled.
“Cat? What makes you say that? I’ve been at my parents this whole time.”
You snapped, “Don't lie to me Ellie, I know you were at her place. If you love Cat so much, just be with her and leave me the fuck alone.” Ellie then grabbed her guitar and slinged on a backpack.
“Fine, I will leave you alone. I have a show to be at anyways.” And just like that, gone again.
You replayed the past hour in your head and considered the fact that maybe Ellie was telling the truth. Cat was never known to be a saint, so her lying all of the sudden seemed likely. This time, instead of waiting for Ellie to come back around, you decided to chase after her.
You quickly threw on a revenge outfit and put on some mascara. You stared in the mirror at your black mini skirt and tight crop top. You couldn’t deny it, you looked fucking hot. The peak in confidence pushed you right out the door and to the venue of Ellie’s show.
When you arrived her band was already on stage playing. You realized this was your first time ever hearing them together and decided to really soak it in. Ellie looked so happy doing what she loved despite all the drama happening off stage. She was even better than you thought. You watched as she plucked the strings and bobbed her head along with the beat. You hated how much it turned you on. The tattoo you loved so much was on full display and her arm muscles flexed with each chord. She’d occasionally bite her bottom lip in concentration and it drove you wild. Her set finally finished and you were more than pleased, mentally and physically. Ellie got off stage and you quickly ran after, shouting her name.
“Hey can we talk please? I wanna say sorry.” you explained.
“Fine, come with me to the bathroom, it’s quieter there.” She grabbed your hand and led you. You pushed yourself up to sit on the marble counters that housed the sinks. Ellie looked you up and down, waiting for you to speak. She took note of how good you looked before frantically spewing an apology.
“I’m sorry for accusing you of lying. I was stupid and asked Cat if she had seen you recently. Of course she told me you’d been with her and I blindly believed.”
She seemed to be listening so you continued your ranting, “I really hate to fight Els. I miss having fun with you. I wanna move on from everything and just be happy. Together, me and you.” You looked up to flash her some puppy dog eyes when you noticed her attention being diverted.
No matter how hard Ellie wanted to pay attention to what you had to say, she couldn’t help but stare up your skirt. Your positioning on the counter gave her the perfect sneak peek of the space between your legs. Once you had caught on to her pervy behavior Ellie fumbled to save face.
“Shit sorry um, I was just, uh, you have cute panties.” She then flashed you a sideways smile trying to make up for that dumpster fire of a “save”.
“You don’t have to apologize, Els.” A cocky look spread across your face and Ellie recognized what game you were playing.
“Well then I’d just like to say, the wet spot on them is even cuter.” Your face turned hot as you registered the fact that the same girl who made you soak through your panties was about to be the one to take them off.
Ellie slotted herself between your knees as you sat on the counter. Shock turned to hunger in a matter of seconds as you practically consumed each other. Her mouth engulfed yours as if there was no need for air. You desperately clung to her body, using your legs to pull in closer. Ellie grabbed at your chest as she slipped her wet tongue into your desperate kiss. You gasped into her mouth when she found your nipples through the thin fabric of your top. She twisted them with power before removing your shirt completely. Ellie separated from your mouth for just a split second to admire the beauty before her.
“You’re fucking gorgeous,” she gushed and then used both hands to push your legs apart. Your cunt was on full display through the soaked fabric, your skirt bunched up around your hips. Ellie used her calloused fingers to trace the delicate folds peeking from the cloth and you jolted as she brushed past your sensitive spot. She hooked into your panties to scootch the fabric to the side before you suddenly interrupted.
“Ellieeee, we’re in a public bathroom.” She pouted at you with desperation. Ellie needed you now. Out of pure impulse, she grabbed you by the hips, hands cupping your ass, and stumbled with you into the big stall.
“Take them off” she demanded. You seductively slipped the pink, lace thong you were wearing down to your ankles. The cold air alone on your exposed folds was enough to send a sensation through your body. Ellie retrieved your littered painties and shoved them into her pocket for “safe keeping”. She remained on her knees in the tight bathroom stall and began planting kisses on your inner thighs. These kisses turned into small bites as the shared arousal became overwhelming to your senses.
Ellie eventually found her way to right where you wanted her. Her fingers spread you apart taking mental note of each delicate fold. You gasped in pleasure, as if to urge her to continue. The wet sensation of her tongue finally met your aching clit and a sultry moan escaped your lips. Your opening clenched at the contact as she coached you through the bliss that was her mouth.
“I know it feels good but you gotta be quiet for me baby. Just breathe.” You had barely gotten the hang of keeping calm before her fingers dove in to give you twice as much satisfaction.
You gripped Ellie’s forearm for support as she twisted in and out of your throbbing cunt. She was determined to make you feel good. She needed to make up for her bad behavior.
With that thought in mind, she dove back in with her mouth followed by the curling of her fingers inside you. You couldn’t help but screech and Ellie quickly shot a hand up to cover your mouth. So goddamn noisy. As she continued, you inched closer and closer to the precipice of an orgasm.
The bathroom brimmed with the wet sounds of Ellie’s tongue lapping you up, her fingers assaulting your hole, and the moans she did her best to muffle. But, suddenly, those weren’t the only sounds that filled the room.
“Ellie? Baby, is that you?”

Unlocking the door, you treaded lightly across the living room to the kitchen, knowing Shae was either still sleeping or getting ready for work. While you definitely wouldn’t consider it the walk of shame - you had nothing to be ashamed of - you knew the inevitable conversation with your roommate was fast approaching, and you weren’t looking forward to it.
Opening the cabinet quietly, you pulled out the coffee canister and prepared the pot, hoping to at least perk your friend’s mood. When you heard her door open, you braced yourself for a scowl or evil eye, but instead, she padded down the hall to the bathroom, not even looking in your direction. With a sigh, you poured yourself a cup of coffee and sat at the counter, inhaling the aroma as your mind began to wander.
Harry had been so sweet that morning, pouting slightly when you’d told him you had to get home and get ready for work. With heavy eyelids, he’d kissed you softly, offering to make you breakfast.
“You’ve cooked for me plenty,” you’d declined with a smile. “Besides, I should probably explain everything to Shae like I’d promised before my shift starts.”
When he’d driven you home, he’d pulled you into a deep kiss, causing your head to spin and your insides to melt. Then he’d wished you a pleasant day with a smile, promising to call later.
“Hey,” you heard before you saw her.
Clearing your throat and blinking your eyes, you sat up and acknowledged your roommate. “Good morning.”
Shae remained with her back to you as she grabbed a mug from the cupboard and poured herself a cup of coffee. Sipping your own, you wondered if she was giving you the cold shoulder, until she finally sighed and muttered, “How was your date?”
“Wonderful…actually,” you said, hoping she’d turn to face you.
“Really? Well…I guess I kinda figured that since you stayed out all night. Did you just get home?”
“Yeah,” you swallowed.
Finally turning around, Shae looked at you with wide eyes.
“He must be amazing. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I wanted to, Shae. And I should have. It’s just…well honestly, I wasn’t sure if he was for real at first. Even after he apologized, I couldn’t bring myself to accept it right away.”
“Wait…back up,” your roommate held up her hand. Then taking the stool next to yours, she continued. “Start at the beginning. Like, right after you ran into him at the coffee shop.”
“Well, like I told you, he helped me get the job. He vouched for me, told my boss I was the best waitress he’d ever had.”
“Right. And I told you you should have kissed him,” Shae smirked. “But you thought he had some kind of motive. Or was just feeling guilty.”
“Yeah, I was kind of right about that last part,” you said, taking a sip of coffee.
“So, what? He kept apologizing or something? Came in and stalked you?”
“No. He’s actually a regular at the cafe. Everyone else who works there knows him. He comes in to work on his tablet or laptop. He’s an artist. He doesn’t just do tattoos.”
Shae’s mouth dropped open as she stared at you.
“He stays to himself mostly,” you continued, “but I quickly realized he’s a nice guy. So I went to his shop to talk to him and…he asked me out.”
“Oh my God.”
“I didn’t tell you that night of our first date because…well, like I said…I wasn’t sure yet. But we had a nice meal and a long discussion. Turns out he was telling the truth. He was really drunk that night and he feels really bad about the way he treated me.”
When you took another drink from your mug, Shae continued to glare at you, an invisible question mark above her head. “And?”
“And what?”
“That’s it? No more details? You’re leaving it there?”
With a chuckle, you ran your fingers through your hair. “There’s not much more to tell except…he’s a fantastic man.”
“Obviously. That’s why you got home at seven in the morning.”
“Shae!” you laughed harder.
“How many times have you been out with him?”
“Yesterday was our second date.”
“Wow,” Shae sighed. “That was a long second date.”
“Yeah, I guess,” you grinned.
“Seriously? You’re not even gonna throw me a bone? I’ve been your roommate for three years!”
“I will tell you one thing,” you offered.
“What?”
“He’s designed a tattoo. For me.”
“Get out! When are you getting it done?”
Looking down at your cup, you traced the rim with your fingertip. “I don’t know. He wanted to do it last night, but I told him we could save it for another time. I’m just not sure how I feel about it yet.”
“What do you mean?”
“It’s just…very personal. It feels…extremely intimate.”
Shae snorted, making you glare at her. “You did have sex with him, right?”
“I don’t mean that,” you shook your head. “It’s much more intimate than sex.”
“Oh.”
You weren’t certain if your roommate understood what you meant, but you didn’t expect her to. Rising from your stools, you gave each other hugs. You apologized again for not informing her of Harry sooner, and she wished you the best with him.
“I’m happy it all worked out,” she declared. “Especially glad he’s not a jerk. Because he’s really attractive. But I was willing to hate him for you.”
“I know,” you nodded, remembering your conversation with Harry the day before. “And I love you for that.”
Tumblr media
“Can I get a cappuccino with light foam and a blueberry scone?”
You rang up the customer with a smile, only to take another’s order right afterwards. Taking a deep breath, you exhaled slowly. The cafe was extra busy, especially for a Wednesday. Luckily, you only had twenty minutes left before your break. You felt Jill and Melaina busying themselves behind you, trying to get the drink orders out as fast as they could. When the last man in line placed his order, you quickly grabbed a rag and wiped down the counter. You’d just stuffed it away when the door opened again.
“Good afternoon,” you announced before the woman had even approached you. “What can I get y-”
Stopping your sentence before the last word, you suddenly recognized the familiar face. And blonde hair.
“Oh, hello. It’s you,” she said, almost in a snarl.
“Yes?” you questioned, your brow raised.
Scanning the seating area, Nicolette spoke again without looking at you. “I was hoping I might find Harry here. I understand he frequents this cafe.”
“He’s not here,” you remarked flatly. ‘Frequents this cafe’? Was she trying to sound posh? She wasn’t even British.
“Oh, pity.” Yep, she definitely was. You rolled your eyes before she turned back to face you. “I’ve rung and texted him several times, but he hasn’t replied. If you speak to him, will you let him know Nicolette is looking for him?”
“What for?” you asked, shocking even yourself at your boldness.
Nicolette frowned, crossing her arms over her chest. “I don’t believe that’s any of your business.”
“Okay then. No.”
“Pardon me?” the blonde looked taken aback.
“I will not tell him. He doesn’t need to have any more contact with you. Your transaction is through.”
“My transaction?” Nicolette repeated, her face contorting into something that resembled a confused rat.
“You’re not a nice person, and you use people. You used Harry to get what you wanted, and now it’s over.”
The blonde chuckled slowly, then threw her head back and began to cackle. This time she resembled Cruella DeVille. “Oh, sweetie. You’ve got it all backwards. Harry Styles used me. Now, I would watch yourself if I were you.”
Plucking a mint from the bowl on the counter, Nicolette strutted off, the door swinging closed behind her as she walked out into the sunshine.
“Who the hell was that?” gasped Jill whom you’d forgotten stood behind you. You were grateful to see that Melaina was wiping down tables. She may have not heard or seen the interaction.
“Harry’s ex,” you muttered.
“Holy crap. How do you know that? You’ve seen her?”
You cringed, suddenly realizing you may have to reveal your secret to Jill. “Um, there’s pictures of her with him on his website.”
“But you told her she’s not a nice person. You must have met her before.”
With a sigh, you decided to come clean. “I saw her yesterday. At the art gallery.”
“The art gallery?” Jill’s eyes widened. “Did you go to see Harry’s art?”
Biting your lip, you nodded. “With Harry.”
“Oh my God!” Jill covered her mouth with her hand, then whispered, “Are you dating him?”
“Yeah. But please, let’s keep it between us for now.”
“Why? Everyone here loves him! They’d be happy for you. I’m happy for you!”
“I appreciate that,” you grinned. “It’s just…it’s still new, you know?”
“Oh! Say no more. I totally get it. But I’m so happy for you!”
You chuckled as Jill put her hands on her hips. “Huh, I wonder why I’ve never seen her. She’s never come in here before.”
“I wonder why she was looking for Harry,” you added. “Maybe something to do with his art.”
“What was that she said to you at the end? Just before she left?”
“Oh, um…I don’t know.”
“Something about watching yourself? What did she mean by that?”
You simply shrugged as Melaina returned to the counter and the door opened once more. “Beats me.”
Tumblr media
Harry called you that evening after he got home from work. You chatted lightly for a bit about Shae and both of your jobs until you decided to tell him about your little encounter with his ex-whatever-she-was.
“She came to the cafe just to find me?” he asked incredulously.
“Yeah. How did she know you hang out there?”
“Ugh,” Harry groaned with a pause. “I may have mentioned it.”
“Oh.”
“In fact, I think I asked her to join me for coffee once, but she brushed me off. Said she had other plans.”
“Oh.”
“I’m sorry, babe. She shouldn’t have done that.”
You sighed. “Well, it’s a public place. And I don’t think she knew I worked there. Did she?”
“I don’t see how. But she was deliberately rude to you, and I don’t like that. You didn’t deserve it.”
“I’ve had to deal with ruder people,” you joked.
“Y/N…”
“Harry…” you mimicked his tone.
“You’re gonna keep taking the piss, aren’t you?” he chuckled.
“Only because I know the real you now.”
“Do you?”
“Um…I…hope I do,” you said.
“Hmm, I reckon you’re one of very few who does.”
“I’m glad,” you grinned, your cheeks warm. “What about Nicolette?”
“What about her?”
“Did she ever see the real you?”
“Not even close. I mean…she knew me on a surface level. She knew I created art. She thought I had talent…or so she claimed. But she didn’t know me any deeper than that.”
“Did she know you like to cook?” you asked.
“I doubt it," Harry snorted. "She lives on cocktails and nicotine. Not exactly the domestic type."
“So it was pretty much just a physical relationship.” The words slipped out before you could stop them. Although you knew the answer, your mouth betrayed you with your brain’s curiosity.
“Um…we don’t have to talk about that.”
“You’re right. I’m sorry. It’s just…she said something to me that kind of rubbed me wrong.”
“What was that?”
“She said you used her, not the other way around. And that I should watch myself. What did she mean?”
You heard Harry hiss in a breath. “I dunno.”
“Was she implying you’ll use me too?”
“Maybe. Because she’s a bit delusional.”
“I see.”
“Babe…you don’t believe that, do you? Tell me you don’t.”
“I don’t. At least…I hope not. But, you know…we don’t know each other that well yet.”
Harry chuckled, “You just said you knew the real me.”
“I know, but…it’s only been a few days.”
“Honey…” Harry paused as you heard his breaths through the phone. “What do I have to do to convince you?”
“Convince me of what?”
“That I’m not the creep you first met. I’m not a bastard who gets people fired. I’m not an arrogant asshole, and I don’t use women.”
Biting your lip, you fingered the hem on your t-shirt. “That’s not entirely true, is it?”
“What?”
“Well…you said yourself - Nicolette was a rich girl. And you thought she could help you meet people.”
Harry sighed, sounding defeated. “That’s true. And I told you I wasn't proud of it.”
“So you admit you used her.”
“Yeah. But not in the way you think.”
“There’s more than one way?” you laughed nervously.
“It was…kind of mutual, if you will,” replied Harry.
“Okay.”
“There were no feelings involved. I…she wasn’t looking for a relationship. She made it pretty obvious from the beginning. And I was okay with that because…I was too focused on my art to give her more. And she was far too busy to hardly remember I existed.”
“That doesn’t sound fun at all,” you commented.
“It wasn’t,” Harry confirmed. “Her father knew Sherod who owns the art gallery. She helped set me up with an exhibit. We - dated, if you could call it that - for a little over three months. But we barely spent any time together unless it had to do with business. I hardly knew her.”
“And she hardly knew you,” you added.
“Yeah, exactly.”
Exhaling through your nose, you laid back on your pillow. “Thank you for telling me that, Harry.”
“You’re welcome, love. Does it make you feel better?”
“A little. Not that I felt bad or anything. I was just curious.”
“But it did bother you, right? What she said?”
“Yeah.”
“Baby…you do know I’m not using you, right?”
“Well, yeah,” you snickered, “I’m not rich.”
“Y/N!”
You giggled harder. “I’m playing with you, Harry!”
“I swear to God, if you didn’t have such a cute laugh, I’d-” Harry’s words stopped.
“You’d what?”
You heard Harry hum softly, and you could tell he was smiling through the phone. “This is what I mean,” he said genuinely. “Nicolette and I…we didn’t have this. She’s…a different kind of girl. She’s not…”
“Giggly?” you asked.
“She’s not you.”
You felt your heart flip in your chest at his admission. Though your room was dark, you might as well have been walking on sunshine. Your insides danced and glowed while you tried hard to bring together a string of words and form a sentence. Fortunately, Harry continued his thoughts instead.
“I don’t care that it’s only been a few days, a couple of dates. I’m already having way more fun with you than I ever had with her. And I know it’s not fair to compare, and I’m stupid to even try. I just want you to know…that’s how I feel.”
“Wow,” you breathed. “Harry, I…don’t even know what to say.”
“It’s alright. I’ve said enough. Now we can drop the subject before I scare you away.”
You smiled as you silently wished he was with you in person so you could kiss his soft lips.
“Can I ask one more question?”
“Okay.”
“Did you call her back?”
“Nicolette? No…I’m not interested in anything she has to say.”
“Oh.”
“Can we change the subject now, baby?”
“Of course,” you beamed before asking him about the tattoos he’d done that evening, and what art he was currently working on, all while trying to keep your feelings in check every time he gave you a term of endearment.
Tumblr media
Harry came to the cafe Friday morning. In fact, he was already there when you’d arrived for the mid-morning shift, Stan and Carol having opened. You smiled when you walked in from the rear entrance, tying your apron, his back to you as he sat in his regular spot.
“Good morning,” you greeted softly as you walked past his table.
He lifted his head from his iPad, giving you a sleepy, lop-sided grin before mouthing, “Morning, sweetheart.”
Your insides melted as usual while you made your way to the front counter. As you greeted Stan and his wife, you stole another glance at the only occupied table. Though you knew it was ludicrous to even consider, you missed him. It was only Tuesday that you’d had that most pleasant day with him, and you’d chatted for over two hours on the phone Wednesday night. But Thursday hadn’t proven to be much of a Harry day. With the exception of a short text during your lunch break when he’d said he would be busy most of the day, and a quick goodnight text before bed, you hadn’t even spoken. You longed to hear his voice, like a lover thousands of miles away from her beloved. You’d shaken the notion the night before after you’d laid in bed staring at the ceiling for an hour after that quick text. You knew he was busy, most likely with his art. And you didn’t feel like it was your place to inquire about it. It was one day for crying out loud.
“Get a hold of yourself, Y/N!” you’d groaned, turning out the lamp and pulling the covers up to your chin.
Still, to see him sat at his usual, familiar table was a huge relief. And the fact he’d called you sweetheart was just icing on the cake.
A few customers trickled in during the first thirty minutes of your shift, and by the next hour, the cafe was nearly full. You were only able to stop by Harry’s table a couple of times, mostly to ask if he wanted a refill and to wipe down nearby tables. Each time, he seemed to be deep into his work. You caught a glimpse or two here and there, but you didn’t want to disturb him. Finally at eleven, Jill came in for her shift and Stan and Carol left soon after.
“How’s everything going with Handsome?” Jill asked as you prepared a latte.
“Fine,” you grinned.
“He seems extra focused today.”
“Yeah,” you nodded. “I don’t wanna bother him.”
Just then, as if he knew you were talking about him, Harry lifted his head and peered over at you. His smile grew across his face as he sat back and stretched. You couldn’t help but smile back. And when he motioned for you to come his way, your breath caught in your throat.
“Sorry, love, I wasn’t trying to ignore you,” he said when you reached his table.
“I know. You looked very busy and deep in thought,” you nodded.
“It’s only ‘cause I was trying to finish up a few things.”
“Okay,” you shrugged.
Harry surprised you by reaching out his hand to your waist and pulling you closer.
“I wasn’t trying to ignore you yesterday either. I had a lot of business to tend to. But I thought about you.” His other hand slid around the other side of your waist as his eyes gazed up at you.
“You don’t have to reassure me, Harry,” you partially lied.
“No? Hmm, thought maybe you missed me. ‘Cause I missed you.”
A nervous laughter left your chest and you shook your head. “God, you’re good.”
“Yeah? Good at what?”
“At…making me feel…things.”
“Hmm,” Harry lifted his brows. “What kind of things?”
The door opened then, and a couple of people walked in. Seeing that Jill already had a customer, you figured you should help.
“I have to get back to work, Harry,” you commented, grabbing his wrists and pulling them from your hips.
“Alright,” he smirked. “I have to go anyway. Can I see you tonight?”
“Don’t you have to work?”
“Kyle’s closing tonight. I get off at nine.”
“Oh! Okay, yeah.”
“Good,” Harry grinned, rising from his chair and slipping his backpack over his shoulder. “I’ll call you later, babe.”
Then with no hesitation at all, he cupped your chin with one hand and planted a big, wet kiss on your lips. For what was probably just two seconds in reality, you stood frozen in your spot as though time was fastforwarding around you, your eyes wide, your mouth open as Harry murmured a goodbye and left the cafe.
Tumblr media
Your phone buzzed that evening while you were in the middle of a writing session. You hadn’t written anything in what seemed like forever. But somehow, you were suddenly inspired. And you figured the caller had a lot to do with it.
“Hey!” you answered with a smile in your voice.
“Hi, beautiful. I have a request.”
“Oh?”
“So…there’s been a change of plans for tonight.”
“Oh,” you frowned, disappointment apparent in your tone.
“How do you feel about a cocktail party?” asked Harry.
“I…what…where?”
Harry chuckled. “It’s at the gallery. It’s kind of last minute, I’m sorry. I’ve been trying to put together something for a potential buyer. That’s part of what I was working on yesterday. I was hoping to set something up for next week, but turns out the client’s only in town this weekend. And I have to work late tomorrow night.”
“Oh. Well, that’s exciting! I’ve never been to one of these types of things though. You sure you want me there?”
“You’re the only person I want there, love. Well, besides the client, of course.”
“Then I’d love to come.”
“Great! I’m gonna try to leave a bit early, so can you be ready at nine o’clock?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you so much, baby. I’ll see you then.”
Tumblr media
“Are you nervous?” you asked when Harry parked the car.
“Why, do I look nervous?” he turned his head to look at you. His eyes were wild and he continued to drum his hands against the steering wheel.
“A little,” you smirked. Then you reached for his hand, threading your fingers through his. “It’s okay if you are though. I totally understand.”
Harry’s chest rose and fell with a deep breath before he squeezed your hand. “I guess I am. I just…want this to go well.”
“It will. I believe.”
Harry’s eyes twinkled in the dim light from the dashboard. “Thanks, babe. You look absolutely gorgeous tonight, by the way. Did I tell you?”
“You may have mentioned it,” you beamed. You’d been so relieved to find the little black dress in the back of your closet from two years ago. And even more relieved that it still fit. But that relief didn’t compare to the look on Harry’s face when you’d opened the door. His obvious heart-eyes matched yours as you took in his sexy black suit and open shirt.
“Are you ready to go in?” you asked him.
“Yeah,” he exhaled again, opening the car door.
Stepping into the gallery, you were surprised to see a small marquee with Harry's name on it. To the right stood the woman you recognized from the reception desk. She greeted you both with a smile, letting you know Sherod was already waiting inside.
"Harry! There you are!" announced the gallery owner when you rounded the corner. "And you dear, you look smashing!" Sherod held out his hand to you and gave you a chaste kiss on the cheek."
"Thank you," you blushed.
You noticed a handful of people gathered around Harry's art as a waiter walked up with a tray of wine, offering you a glass.
"He's not here yet, I take it," remarked Harry.
"Not yet. He's on his way."
You watched as Harry and Sherod made small talk with the other guests, Harry introducing you to them which made you feel nice. Each time someone would give him a compliment, you felt his hand press against your lower back as though you were his rock steadying him.
You were both on your second glasses of wine when the so-called potential client arrived. He wasn't what you were expecting - although you weren't sure what that was. Donovan McNulty wore a navy blue suit with a red shirt and tie. He was probably an inch or two shorter than Harry with bleached blonde hair and an Irish accent. He had a pleasant smile that seemed to be permanent on his face. You liked him right away.
You listened as he expressed his interest in Harry's art. While he liked all of his work, he was particularly fond of one piece, the one that you had secretly declared your personal favorite.
"It's the perfect piece for my office, directly behind my desk," remarked Donovan as he held his hands up like a frame.
You beamed at Harry, trying to hide your glee from the client.
"I think that would be a smart choice," you heard a female voice say behind you.
Twirling around, you were met with the one face you hoped you'd never have to see again.
"Harry, so sorry I'm late," Nicolette said with her pointed face as she placed her hand on his bicep before addressing the buyer, extending her other hand. "Good evening. Nicolette Waters."
"Donovan McNulty, love! How d'you do?"
You stood glaring at the interaction before turning to Harry. "What is she doing here?" you seethed.
"I dunno. I told her it wasn't a good idea."
"You told her? You said you hadn't talked to her."
"I know, babe, I'm sorry. But she got a hold of me yesterday. She kinda helped me set this up. I asked her not to come, though."
Unable to form any more words, you stared at him, a lump in your throat. You could feel the tears threatening to form in your eyes and you blinked rapidly.
"Excuse me…" you cried before escaping the area, hastily searching for the ladies room.
Moments later as you sat in the stall, wiping your tears, you heard a wrap on the door.
"Y/N. Baby, please come out. I'm sorry. I should have told you." While his voice was low and calm, his words were anxious. "I'll explain everything when we leave. I just need you to come out now, okay? Please?"
You realized then that you weren't exactly sure what you were upset about. Was it that Harry hadn't told you about Nicolette? Or simply that she'd shown up? Either way, you knew that this night wasn't about you. It was about Harry. And his art. This was his night, his chance. And you didn't want to ruin it.
Sniffling, you rose from the toilet and flushed it. "I'll be right there, Harry," you called. After washing your hands, you were surprised to find him still standing on the other side of the door. His expression was a combination of concern and indignation, his jaw set.
"I'm so sorry," he said again. "I honestly didn't think-"
"It's fine, Harry," you held up your hand. "Like you said, you can tell me later. Let's go talk to Mr. McNulty."
"You sure you're okay?"
You nodded, giving him a tight smile. He hesitantly took your hand and you followed him back to the party. Nicolette was still giving Donovan an earful, or perhaps it was the other way around. You stood back, releasing Harry's fingers from your own, gesturing for him to take the lead. You watched with pride as he interjected the conversation, re-earning the client's attention. Before long, the two seemed like old mates, Harry making Donovan laugh and vice versa.
"He's so very talented," one of the other women said to you a few minutes later when you decided to wander around the gallery.
"Yes," you nodded. "He is."
"I heard he does custom tattoos as well. Is that true?"
Turning to face the woman, you noticed she had a sleeve of ink on her left arm. Grinning, you nodded again. "Fine Line Ink is his shop. He owns it."
"Oh, I'll have to check it out! Not that I need any more tattoos," she chuckled.
"I'm about to get my first," you commented quickly. You weren't sure why you said it. But you realized then that it was the truth.
"Oh, really? I figured being his girlfriend, you'd already have loads."
Color rose to your cheeks. "We just started dating."
The woman's eyes widened as she leaned closer and touched your arm. "You must be very special to him, then!"
After your little chat with the friendly woman, you were eyeing that tranquil painting that you and Harry admired when you felt a hand slip around your waist.
"I sold it," he whispered in your ear.
You grinned. "I knew you would."
"You ready to go?"
You shifted to face him. "Already? That's it?"
"Yep. Sherod takes care of the rest."
"And Nicolette?"
"She left. Few moments ago."
"Okay."
Harry led you outside to his car, opening the passenger door for you. Neither of you said anything else until you were stopped at a red light.
"Please forgive me, love. I know I should have told you."
"Yeah, you should have. Especially after telling me you had no interest in talking to her."
"I didn't. But she found me yesterday. There at the gallery, actually. She told me about McNulty. He was very interested in my art. I couldn't let a potential sale slip away. You get that, right?"
"I do," you nodded. "And I'm sorry I ran off. It was selfish of me. I was just upset she was there and…I guess I was jealous."
"Nothing to be jealous over, Y/N. It was strictly business. I told her I didn't think it was a good idea for her to come, even though she acted like she was entitled to be there since she'd gotten me the lead."
"I guess I can understand that," you said.
"She shouldn't have though. She only did it out of spite. And I'm sorry I hurt you in the process. I shouldn't have kept it from you. I just hoped she wouldn't show. I was stupid to think she wouldn't."
Lifting your hand to his shoulder, you slid it down his arm. "You’re forgiven."
Harry was quiet again until he was almost at his flat. Clearing his throat he looked at you.
"Again, I shouldn't have assumed. Am I driving to my place…or yours?"
You considered his question for a moment. While you still felt a sourness in the pit of your stomach, you knew you weren’t angry with him. It was his special night, and he’d earned that sale. As a smile slowly grew on your lips, you threaded your fingers through his.
"I guess that depends on how you want to celebrate."

The Final Promise₊˚✩⊹
Chapter 8
Linked Universe x reader
Warnings: depression, angst, mentions of mental health, some fluff
₊˚✩⊹
Sky tucks you in, placing another small cushion under your head to take a bit of pressure from your back, but it doesn’t relieve much pain.
“Need anything?” he asks, cradling your hands in his, so gently as if he was scared of hurting you more. You shake your head.
“Stay?” you ask.
He nods, a small smile on his face. He makes his way to the other side of the bed, slipping off his boots that he put on earlier. He wasn’t exactly dressed for the day when he experienced all of the commotion, so he was already in his sleeping tunic and pants.
Slipping under the covers, he faces you, examining your features for any possible open wounds or signs of discomfort.
“I can hear you panicking over me, Sky. I’m fine. Sore, but fine.” you say, glancing at him.
“Sorry.”
“You’re all good. Just don’t want you to be in even more stress, hell knows we don’t need more of it.”
You were both silent for a while. The only sounds being the occasional grunt from you or shuffling in the covers.
“What’s home like for you?” Sky asks.
Well that came out of the blue.
“What do you mean? Like in general or my life?”
He props himself up on his elbow, like Twilight did last night, but you shoo the the thought away quickly, not wanting to think about making out with your traveling partner.
“I guess more so your life. What’s it like, at least most recently?”
You think for a moment.
“Well, I go to school, college as they call it. I live in an apartment with my roommate with a dog and a cat, god knows how they even stand each other. I work at a bakery when I’m not in school, which is ran by my aunt. She’s kind of the only family I have, other than my pets, I guess.”
You smile before continuing, “Its nice back home, I miss it. Despite my past… i’m doing pretty ok right now. I hope to introduce you guys to my life someday, if its possible.”
Sky smiles at that, “That’d be nice. I’d love to meet your aunt, she sounds kind.”
Another beat of silence.
“What about your parents?”
Sky notices your wince at the question, “Sorr-”
“It’s fine. They’re not around anymore. Weren’t the best towards me. That’s all.” you mumble, wanting to change the subject.
He nods, but something is off about his demeanor. He seems… upset.
“Sky, hey, they’re not around anymore, they haven’t been since I was 15. It’s long in the past.”
He grasps your hands tighter, “But the fact that they treated you terribly, regardless of how long ago, is still horrible. You… didn’t deserve that. I wish I knew, so I could-”
“There’s literally no way you could’ve known, you could only barely hear me when I only played the game, much less hear me outside of it. Stop blaming yourself Sky, you carry so many burdens with you that shouldn’t be there in the first place.” your voice stern, but not because you were upset with him.
“It’s hard not to. I mean, I caused the curse to begin in the first place, consequently placing the burden on everyone else. In a way, it… is my fault.”
“You were young, Sky. You didn’t know, or ask for it. You can blame yourself as much as you want, but I saw what happened, and it wasn’t your fault.”
You both stayed silent for a while, processing.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t thank me for telling the truth, Link.”
When evening rolls around the others wonder where Sky is, prompting a few of the members to come upstairs, anticipating the worst.
They find you asleep on Sky’s chest, hands grasping each other.
~
“Ok, what animal do you think you’d be? I’d be a big ass shark!” Wind exclaims.
“Language.” Wind just rolls his eyes.
“I think I’d be a fox: sly and cunning.” Wars states.
“More like flirty and you hiss.” Twilight mumbles, earning a choked giggle from you.
“Says you! You’d probably be a mountain goat!” he exclaims, hand on his chest dramatically.
“You’re actually not far off, an Ordonian goat.” he says, smiling.
“Oh, shut up, cowboy.”
“Hmmm… I think I’d be a swallow or maybe a sparrow.” Sky mumbles, deep in thought.
“Suits you, birdbrain.” Legend says, sarcasm lacing his tone, Sky just shoots him a bored stare.
You roll your eyes, turning to Time, “How ‘bout you, Old man? Any ideas?”
He sighs, “Maybe a wolf, protective of family and travel in packs. Loyal and cautious.”
You raise your eyebrow at him, turning to Twilight with a smile. He shrugs back at you.
What a coincidence.
You turn to Legend with a teasing smile, “You’re definitely a rabbit. All bark, no bite.”
Legend guffaws at you, “H-How did you- why I’m offended Y/n! Really supportive of you, Mouse.”
You just laugh loudly, but it quickly follows with a sharp pain from your back, causing you to hiss with pain. The group around you gets silent, anticipating.
“Ah, ouch! Fucking ow- guys I’m fine, just laughed a bit too hard. Anyways, Wild? How about you?” you ask.
His expression still worried, he hesitates before answering “I-uh, I don’t really know. Never really thought about it.”
Hyrule pipes up, “I don’t know about you guys, but I feel like I’d be a goat. Not Ordonian, maybe more like the ones we saw in Hateno Village.”
Hums of agreement go around the group.
“Personally, I’m with Sky on the Sparrow. Probably because I’m part Minish.” Four says, crossing his arms while leaning back. He looks at you, “And, Y/n? What about you?”
All eyes were on you, anticipating your answer.
Just as you were about to answer, Legend beats you to it “Easy, a mouse. Ain’t that right, Mousey?”
You squeak in surprise, face bright red.
Legend just hums in satisfaction, leaning against the wall, “Told you, a squeaker.”
You just look at him, eyes wide. He just gazes at you, eyeing you like a predator.
The silence was unbearable. If you weren’t covered in wounds and bruises, you would’ve sprinted out of the room. The awkwardness tension was suffocating.
“Are you guys done drooling?” Four asked.
The next minute all you can hear was yells directed at Four and Wind dying of laughter on the floor.
~
The next couple days were agonizingly slow. All you did was lay in bed, change your bandages, or talk to the group and occasionally Malon. You felt so guilty for everything that had transpired the past few days for her, apologizing profusely every moment you were with her. She didn’t want to hear any of it.
By the end of the fourth day, you were finally able to stand up and walk downstairs, granted you were leaning on Wars the entire way down, almost falling face first halfway down.
“Look! Mouse is up!” Wind exclaimed, running to you and hugging your unoccupied arm to not put pressure onto your back.
“Seems like I have a new nickname, huh?” you chuckled, ruffling his sandy hair.
“How are you faring, Y/n?” Time asked, arms propped on the dining table. He looked tired.
You gave him a small smile, “Better, still really sore, but couldn’t be in that bed any longer, my ass was deflating.”
Legend coughs, “Can’t be flatter than Cap’s.” earning him a smack on the head from Sky.
You rolled your eyes for the millionth time, “Anyways… How has everyone been lately? I know things have been pretty shaken up around here the past few days.”
“Before ya go on apologizin’ and all, don’t. We don’t know who did that to you or if not someone, what did that to you.” Twilight said, voice stern.
You nodded, accepting his statement.
“But besides that, we’ve been alright. Mostly doin’ work around the ranch for Malon. She’s out in Castle Town right now.”
Time stands up from the chair, looking at you “Which is why now is a good time to talk about our next steps.”
Everyone sits down around the table, Wars helping you sit down without hitting your back in the process.
“We’ve been here for a little under a week and so far there’s been no news or updates on either the Shadow’s army or Y/n’s passageway home. Although the serenity for once is nice, it feels too serene. Too ideal. I want to say something is going on behind the scenes, but I don’t have any proof to show for that.”
Wars nods along before joining in, “I too have felt that way. It’s unlike for the Shadow to leave us like this for almost a week. It feels too convenient for us, especially since Y/n’s incident. Do you think he hurt Y/n to distract us?”
Time thought for a moment, eyes focused on the vase on the table.
“No. No, I don’t think it was to distract us, or not in the way you’re thinking. From what I’ve noticed from our battles with him, he needs to regenerate health over time to get back to his full potential again. He isn’t invincible, but he seems like it when we encounter him because he’s had time to heal.”
Legend sits up.
“So why don’t we ever track him down whenever he’s healing and finish him off? We could’ve been done with this bullshit so much sooner!!”
Four shoots him a look, Legend just quietly seethes in his chair.
“Pardon my language, but it’s practically impossible to track that fucker down. From what we’ve seen with the portals, he disappears through them, and we don’t have a way of summoning portals or knowing when or where they went.”
You nod along, things were starting to click together.
“All I’m gonna say is that the Shadow is definitely not who I encountered in my vision, dream, or whatever the fuck it was. I thought that’s who it was, but…. It’s very unlikely that it’s him.”
Time looks around the group, “Right, well, there’s not much we can do right now. My guess is that a portal may show up somewhere around here in the next few days to a week, so we should always be ready to leave. You never know when it’ll open back up, even in the middle of the night.”
You groan, “Why do I have a feeling that’s what’s gonna happen.”
You look at Twilight, “Twi if we have to leave at two in the morning, you’re carrying me.”
He raises an amused eyebrow at you, “Is tha’ right? You the boss all of a sudden?”
You smirk. “I’m the only woman in the group, so yeah. Plus… you wouldn’t wanna upset me during shark week, would ya?”
Twilight’s smile dropped, ears flushed. Everyone just stares at you, wide-eyed.
Wind high-fives you. You had them wrapped right around your finger.
~
The chain and you were currently sitting on the couch and floor, just talking and laughing over jokes while Wild and Sky cooked in the kitchen. You sat in the corner of the couch, a pillow propped up behind your back and a blanket wrapped around your form. You were half listening to the boys’ conversation when the topic of birthdays came up.
“When’s your birthday, Y/n?” You snap back into the conversation.
“God, I haven't thought about my birthday in ages! I have probably missed one since being here. My birthday is in the late winter, though our idea of seasons and months are different from Hyrule's, so I can’t pinpoint the day,” you smile sadly.
“So you’re… 19? 20?” Hyrule asks, counting in his head.
“I think I’m 19 right now, but I’ll be 20 soon.”
Wind jumps up, “We’ve gotta celebrate! Birthdays are like the best time of year! Other than the Winter and Summer festivals.”
You look at Time, “Yeah, maybe when things settle down a bit. To be honest I don’t even know what to do or how to celebrate my birthday here.”
“We could always celebrate it during one of the upcoming festivals. It'll be easier to plan and there’s plenty to do.” Time offers, looking around for responses. Everyone agrees, already discussing what they think would be fun for you.
“Dinner’s ready!” Wild shouts out, ending the conversation and starting a new one. Twilight holds your arm to walk you to the table, your legs still shaky from the lack of physical activity the past few days. He sits you first, then slides into the chair to the right of you. You feel his hand slide into yours, giving it a small squeeze.
~
Legend follows you up, arm under your armpit in case you lose your balance. It was his turn for watch over you, the routine being almost natural at this point.
“Easy, Mouse. We don’t want you opening up those wounds again.” he mumbles, checking over your back. Satisfied with the lack of blood, you both continue back to your room, him shutting the door behind him. It must have been past midnight, as you could feel your tiredness approaching you.
You climb into bed, too lazy to change into comfier clothes, as that could risk reopening the stitches again. Wincing, it takes you a few minutes to find a painless position, as you can’t fully lay on your back.
Once you’ve settled, you notice Legend is still standing by the door, watching you.
“You… do know you can sleep with me right? You don’t have to stand there watching me.”
He seems to snap out of it, shaking his head slightly.
“Right, uh, sure. Need anything before I turn the lights out?”
You shake your head, patting the empty space beside you.
He sits on top of the covers, fully clad in his tunic and robes, even in his pegasus boots. He was staring at the wall across from you both, seemingly deep in thought.
“Rupee for your thoughts?” you ask, it has taken you a while to switch up the terminology from “penny” to “Rupee”. The first time you said the phrase, it took a lot of explaining on your part.
Legend seems to take a breath to speak, but instead stays quiet. Almost as if someone told him to not talk.
You inch toward his hand with yours, lightly holding it. It was ice cold.
“You do know I’m here for you, right? Whatever it is, I’m here for you Leg.” you murmur, not wanting to trigger anything for him.
“Forget it, I’m fine. Just rest, Y/n.” he rasps, eyes still not meeting yours. This was unlike him. You’d like to think you’ve both grown to trust each other over the past year or so, so you weren’t sure as to why he’s being close off and snarky about it.
“Leg, are you sure-” “Leave it, Y/n.” he grunts, his entire body goes tense, you pulling your hand back towards yourself. You could feel your eyes burn, so you lay down and lie on your side, facing away from him. Your tears silently spilled from your waterline until you fell asleep.
~
The next time you were woken up, Wild was shaking you by your arm, “Y/n wake up. Portal at the edge of the farm. Start getting ready and someone will be up in a few to help you pack up.”
He quickly jogged out, leaving the door open. You could hear Malon talking to someone. When’d she get back?
Eyes bleary, you noticed that the spot where Legend was sitting was empty, covers not even pulled down. Seems like he left the first chance he’d gotten.
Wincing a bit, you hobble out of bed, heading over to where your pack lay on the dresser. You managed to pull on your tunic over your long sleeve shirt. Your pants were on just as Wars came into the room, looking disheveled for the first time in your time with them.
“Make sure you put your harness on, we might be dropped into battle.” he rambles, eyes flicking over the room, making sure you didn’t leave anything.
You were too tired to talk, silently tying your pack up and slinging it over your shoulder. Wars helped you adjust the chest harness, being careful to not squeeze your back too much.
“Ready?” you nod, “Alright, let's start heading out, it’s almost dawn.”
“Wars? Are you ok?” he seemed off, he was always composed, strictly business you once joked. But now was no laughing matter. You were worried for him. All of them.
He just smiled, but it didn’t reach his eyes.
“Just tired, Y/n.”
He rarely used your name except if he was being serious or if he was worried.
Before you could keep pestering him, he pulled you along the hallway and down the stairs, helping you down the stairs like he usually did. Everyone was already awake, packing last minute and putting on clothes and armor.
Twilight looks up from his boots, fastening the buckles around the calf.
“There ya are, was worried ya were still asleep. All ready?” he walks up to you, placing his hands on your shoulders. You nod, yawning. He chuckled, giving you a small kiss on the crown of your forehead, “Don’t worry, pumpkin, we’ll make up for yer lost sleeping hours as soon as we can, ok?” You were too tired to react to the physical affection, just nodding into his chest.
You could feel Legend’s eyes on you, but you couldn’t deal with him right now. Avoidance was definitely not the best thing to do right now, but everyone was on a time limit to get to that portal.
Malon walks up to you, “Before you say anythin’, I’m gonna miss you too and stop apologizin’.” You chuckle, “You know me too well, Mal. I’m sorry we have to go so soon. I’ll miss you.” She smiles sadly. She brings you into a warm hug, mumbling into your ear “Just be safe, Y/n. I know how dangerous it is travelin’ with ‘em. I fully trust Link, I just don’t want you to be reckless and get hurt. Look after him for me?” she asks, voice slightly cracking.
“Of course Mal. Anything for you.”
“You’re too kind for this cruel world Y/n. I hope you come back soon, under better circumstances perhaps.”
“I’ll be back before you know it. Ok?”
She lets you go, talking to Time about being careful and giving him the whole talk on “don’t be too hard on them, be careful”, the usual. Once that was done, Malon waves you all off, you walking through the field towards the portal. It was dark and imposing, standing amongst the fauna and flora of Lon Lon Ranch. You walked with Twilight, firmly grasping his arm.
You both walk in, hand in hand, the others following behind you through the murky purple abyss.

Roommates (Twice series: Chaeyoung)
III: Grass genre: fluff - word count: 3414 content warning: detailed marijuana use in the latter half of the chapter
Tumblr media
chaeyo.0: cool shirt, new hair, same me
Chaeyoung had posted a photo you took of her during lunch, showing her new hair-do. Finally, you found out about her online presence when she asked you for your account in order to tag you in the photo.
Her Instagram was…interesting. It was quite cool and alternative. It emphasized her love for art with some posts of her own works, or pieces she admired. There was the occasional mirror selfie, but also a bunch of random pictures of her like one where she stared off into the distance with a strawberry in her mouth.
Yes, it was odd. But you couldn’t help but smile at her feed. It represented her very well. And you grinned at the thought that you now had a place on her feed as well.
In the midst of your fawning over your roommate and her Instagram profile, you locked eyes with a random guy on the other side of the library that was probably wondering what was making you smile like an idiot by yourself. You shot him an awkward tight-lipped smile and quickly buried your head back into your book in embarrassment.
You were supposed to be studying for multiple exams and writing essays which was why you were in the library in the first place. However, concentration didn’t come easy as your mind kept wandering to a specific place, a specific person.
You and Chaeyoung were cool. Whenever you both were home, it was comfortable and never really awkward which you were glad about. You hung out and there was always a light-hearted vibe which you liked, but it was always short-lived as she always seemed to be going somewhere. Sometimes she was already gone by the time you woke up and sleeping when you came back from the library.
Although you two didn’t spend as much time together as you were hoping you could, she did have her ways to occupy your mind during the day. Some days she’d randomly send you artworks, clothes she saw on Pinterest that reminded her of ‘your style’ and most days you’d be flipping through your notebook in class and she’d left a little doodle on the corner of a page, probably when you left it open on your desk.
But you didn’t mind thinking about her this much. In fact, you liked it – a little too much.
Seemingly out of your control, your hand wandered back over to your phone that was still open on your roommate’s Instagram page.
“Hey there,” a voice sounded out, saving you from the rabbit hole you were bound to fall in again looking at Chaeyoung’s Instagram.
Nayeon plopped down on the seat next to you with her own roommate sitting next to her. You had grown close to both Nayeon and Jeongyeon over the past few weeks. As they have been at the college longer than you they could help you out and their chaotic dynamic together was always entertaining to you, so you were at their place quite often.
“How’s studying going? Or should I ask how insta-stalking your roomie is going?” Nayeon asked.
“Oh my god, I wasn’t insta-stalking.” You blushed under Nayeon and Jeongyeon’s knowing smirks. “She tagged me in a post, so I wanted to like it…”
“A post of 138 weeks ago?” Jeongyeon quipped, gesturing to the particular post that was open on your screen.
“Ah, shut up.” You pleaded, defeated. Maybe if you lay face down on the table for long enough they would go away?
“What are we talking about?” The voice of your classmate and friend Jihyo chimed in, chirpy as always. She joined the table with another one of your classmates, Momo, completing the small group of people you usually hung out with.
“Someone here has a little crush on their roommate.” Nayeon sing-songed, nudging you in the process.
“Jeongyeon?” Momo asked, genuinely confused.
“Ew, no.” The said girl grimaced teasingly.
“Whatever, I’m out of your league anyway.” Nayeon shrugged and stuck her tongue out at Jeongyeon. “But no, I’m talking about this one here.” She pointed to you.
“Ah, is that the one that make little love drawings for you during class?” Jihyo teased.
“Oh my god, love drawings? You don’t tell me anything, do you?” Nayeon feigned offense and slapped your arm.
“Ship.” Momo simply stated while rummaging through her bag for something to eat.
“I’m your mentor, you know? I should be helping you through these moments in life.” Nayeon went on.
“You’re my mentor. Not my mom.”
“Mom, older sister, mentor, same difference.” The older girl shrugged. “But tell me all about this Chaeyoung!”
And so you did. You firmly stood your ground that you weren’t crushing on the girl. However, seeing your friend’s smirk as you told them about her interests, habits, cute gestures and whatever else you rambled about, you knew they weren’t believing that for a second. Honestly, you slowly were coming to terms with it yourself.
The girl’s teased you relentlessly over your soft spot for the girl, but didn’t seem to know her in the way you did as they said they wouldn’t expect you to be into such a ‘rebel type of girl’.
You understood that she seemed that way though. The tattoos, her slight introvertedness and a slight air of mysteriousness that followed her would make it logical that she would be some sort of hard-ass. However, you knew that that idea disappeared when she smiled at you.
No rebel without a cause could have a smile as sweet as hers. Impossible.
“Okay,” you sighed. “Maybe I do have a bit of a crush on her then.” The table was silent, your friends simply giving you a look.
“Anyone surprised?” Momo broke the silence followed by a string of laughs and shaking of the heads of your other friends.
After what seemed like ages of teasing you, you and your friends all got back to studying. You were surprised at how much faster it was to do your schoolwork with them – it was probably more efficient anyway since you couldn’t distract yourself thinking about Chaeyoung without getting called out for it. Before you knew it, you were done typing up your last essay and were packing your bag to go home.
And boy, you couldn’t wait to get home. You had been fantasizing about diving into your bed as soon as you got back all day and that was exactly what you did when you walked through the door. You groaned into your pillow, releasing all the pent-up stress from being busy with schoolwork for so long.
Much to your surprise, Chaeyoung walked through the front door and paused at the sight of you. It seemed like neither of you expected the other home at this time, but it was a pleasant surprise.
“Hey?” she said, a look of amusement on her face. “You’re back so early.”
“Yeah,” a sigh escaped your lips as you looked at her. “I’m finally done with all the deadlines, which is good…but now I just hope I did well.”
“Aw,” she cooed. “Don’t worry. You worked so hard, so it’s definitely going to be okay.” Your roommate moved over to her own bed and lied down, looking over at you with care in her eyes. “Are you stressed?”
“Yeah, a bit I guess…”
She simply hummed in response and thought for a second. “I think I might know something that could calm you down?” Chaeyoung bit her lip and in a split second she walked over to her desk and rummaged through the top drawer. You watched her pull out a little plastic bag from it, with something inside that you couldn’t quite make out yet. When she sat next to you on your bed you realised.
“Chaeyoung, is that…” you lowered your voice to a whisper and scanned the room as if you two weren’t the only two in it, “marijuana?”
Your roommate chuckled at your antics, “Yeah, it is.”
You fixated on the green bud in the plastic bag. “Is that even allowed in here?”
“I don’t know,” she shrugged with a mischievous smile, “probably not, but no one is here to stop us, right?” She had a point and you thought for a second. “But please,” Chaeyoung locked eyes with you as she went on. “No pressure, alright? It’s just a suggestion, okay?”
Maybe it was her genuine expression, the residual stress you still felt from school or simply just your curiosity, but you decided. “Okay, fuck it. Let’s do it.”
“Cool,” she simply said with a smile.
You watched her as she walked over to the kitchen table and took out some stuff from a little bag next to her bed and took the bud from it’s plastic bag. You weren’t sure what exactly she was doing but she seemed like such an expert at doing it. Before you knew it, the little bud had been rolled into a joint and you looked on fascinated.
You didn’t realize you were biting your lip watching her lick the paper as the last step until her eyes met yours when doing it. It was the quickest you have ever looked away from anything, but you still managed to catch her smirk at you. You awkwardly cleared your throat as you felt yourself blushing.
Chaeyoung had moved your desk chairs over to the open window and you sat down next to her. “Have you ever smoked before?” she asked. You shook your head and rubbed your arm. “Do you know how to?” When you shook your head once again, she smiled. “Okay, that’s fine. I know a way that might be chill for you.”
She explained that there was a way for you to smoke by her inhaling it first and transferring it over to you in some kind of way. You had no clue what she was talking about, but trusted her when she told you “Just inhale when I guide you to, okay?” Chaeyoung got up from her chair and stood in front of you. She cupped her hand to shield from the wind as she struck her lighter.
As she was so focused on that, you took the chance to look at her. She wore sweatpants and a cropped t-shirt, stained with what was probably paint or ink of some sort. You couldn’t help but check her out. Her hair in somewhat of a messy bun, cheeks rosy from the cold wind on her, her clothes showing off her mid-riff and soft tummy…
As if she could read your mind and your deepest desire, she came closer to you. Chaeyoung lowered herself to face you by going on her knees in front of you and placed her hands on your thighs. Your breath hitched as she leaned into you and she softly tapped you. Taking that as the said signal, you closed your eyes and tentatively inhaled the smoke coming from her parted lips.
When you opened your eyes they met the worrying eyes of your roommate. “Are you alright?”
You nodded. The feeling of smoke in your lungs was definitely something you had to get used to. Then it was as if everything hit you all at once. Chaeyoung’s hands still on your thighs, her scent, her face only inches away from yours, her presence, her lips. Everything. “Wow. Yeah, but wow.”
Chaeyoung only laughed and the sound and it sounded like music in your ears. Chaeyoung helped you the same way a few more times and a combination of the weed and her proximity to you made you feel lightheaded in an odd, but good way. You rest your back in your chair, letting the pleasant wave of euphoria wash over you.
“Relax, okay?” she instructed and sat back down in her own chair. “and let me know if you need anything.”
You pouted and held your tongue. What you wanted was for her to come closer again, but that would be silly to say, right?
“Tell me about your day.” She said, taking a hit for herself. In your mind her eyes bore right through you. You don’t know if it was just the weed, but it felt like the first time you truly had someone’s full attention in order to talk about something as mundane as your day.
So you did as told. Told her about your school assignments, procrastinating in the library and your friends joining you (you skipped over them teasing you ofcourse). You even rambled on about the smallest detail, until you saw her smiling to herself. “Oh my god, should I stop talking?”
“No, don’t.” she reassured and leaned her back against the wall, eyes closed. “Your voice is very soothing.”
You internally thanked the gods for her eyes being closed so she couldn’t see you blush. “It feels like I’ve been talking for hours…”
Chaeyoung took her phone out and chuckles slightly. “Yeah, that’s the weed.” She said and showed you on her screen that only five minutes had passed. “And even if you were, I wouldn’t mind.”
Honestly, you wouldn’t mind talking to Chaeyoung for hours either. The idea of having a moment like this with her last for so long actually brought a giddy smile to your face, one that you didn’t even mind hiding.
“You know, for someone who’s kind of quiet you have a good way with words.” You remarked earning a giggle from your roommate.
Chaeyoung giggled “Thanks, I guess?”
“Anyway, the floor is yours. Talk to me.” You slouched down in your seat and closed your eyes, awaiting her voice to fill the room.
She talked about her day with a smile, describing how she went to an art studio with some friends to paint and listen to music together.
“Is that where you always are?” you cocked your head to the side, “You’re not actually here very much.”
“Aw, did you miss me?” she teased. You held your tongue as you felt yet another blush coming on. Due to the embarrassment you felt of her being kind of right, you only managed to playfully roll your eyes at her. “Yeah, I guess. Either there or in the library or something.” She went on (thankfully). “I noticed you were heavy on all your school work for the past week or so, so I didn’t want to, like, distract you or anything.”
You paused for a beat. You wanted to tell her that there was no problem and that she wasn’t distracting you at all, but from the few times that you actually did study when she was home, you knew that you would be a lie. After reading every other word, your mind drifted to her and what she could be thinking or doing on the other side of the room. You couldn’t help but glance at her every now and then and admire her.
When you thought she wasn’t looking, you peeked at her. Looked at her reacting to videos on her phone and smiled at the way her eyebrows furrowed then or happily sighed at the sound of her soft giggles. Or when she was furiously typing away on her laptop you yearned to ask what she was doing, just to hear her voice fill the room again.
Had she noticed that? Is that why she left? Was it weird? Is that why she kept leaving? Were you being weird right now?
Omg, say  s  o  m  e  t  h  i  n  g
“Oh,” you simply let out.
The other girl burst out laughing and you weren’t sure why. She held onto her stomach and actually folded over in laughter. And for some reason, you couldn’t help but laugh with her. After you both laughed for what seemed like ages she wiped happy tears brimming at her eyes. “You were thinking for so long, and you had the shortest reaction.”
“I think my brain might have just glitched,” you chuckled.
“No worries.” the other girl smiled. “Anyway, you should come with me to the art studio sometime. It’s really pretty, plus I think my friends would really like you too.”
“Sounds like a plan.” You smiled.
The two of you talked longer, every minute felt like an hour and you enjoyed all of it. You learned so much more about Chaeyoung. You watched with adoration as she described the intricacies of “Girl” by The Internet and explained to you why it was her favourite song at the moment. You admired her as she went on and on about Justin Bieber, trying (and failing) to hide her inner Belieber. You smiled as she told you about a new spider tattoo she planned on getting on her hand and you laughed at how she cringed when telling you about her first kiss.
You were enthralled by her. Captivated.
“I could go for some food, how about you?” she randomly spoke up, breaking a small silence that had fell. She stood up and walked towards the kitchen area.
“You read my mind.” You muttered as you shuffled behind her.
“Good,” she chuckled. “I got some Ramyeon.” she smiled bright and held the noodle packs next to her head.
“Ah, it’s my favourite flavour as well!” you exclaimed.
“I know, I noticed you preferred it over the others. So I buy mostly this one now.” Your roommate casually said as she prepared the food. “You’re right. It’s really good.”
“Oh my god, Chaeyoung. You’re such a sweetheart.” You let out, admiring your roommate. She laughed at your remark and you went on, “I can’t believe I was intimidated by you at the start?”
The other girl burst out into laughter when you spoke, “Ah, you make my day. Me? Intimidating?” she put her hand against her chest and raised an eyebrow, acting offended. However, she quickly composed herself and turned the amused look on her face into the most adorable wannabe gangster one you have ever seen. “I mean, yeah, as you should.” She cutely quipped.
“Shut up, chae.” You slapped your roommate’s shoulder. “You’re not fooling anyone.”
When the food was ready you ate, going on and on about how this was the best Ramyeon you had both ever tasted – although that was probably just due to the munchies. Both of you were sitting on your roommate’s bed, still talking while tiredness was slowly taking over. Your voices had gotten lower and you had somehow, someway slowly found comfort being close to each other. Chaeyoung sat up against her bed frame and you rested your head against her shoulder. From this position, a seemingly permanent smile was plastered on your face as you got lost in her eyes.
You were taking turns asking each other random questions, being stubborn and trying to avoid falling asleep. “what is your ideal date?” she had asked you. It was a good question. Not one you had really thought about before.
“I don’t really know actually,” you admitted. “Having a bite to eat with them would definitely be on the list. Maybe also do something cool before or after? Like visit a concert, or an aquarium or something – I don’t know. I also enjoy the arcade. I always used to go on my birthday when I was younger.”
“That sounds fun.” Chaeyoung said. You could hear it in her voice, she was tired too. “When is it actually, your birthday?”
“Saturday.” You said, mindlessly snuggling up closer to your roommate.
“What? So soon?” the other girl said, slightly taken aback. “were you going to tell me this?” she jokingly quipped.
“ah, no big deal.” You replied through a yawn.
You didn’t know if it was an after effect of the weed or the comfort you felt laying on Chaeyoung’s shoulder, but it felt like you had never been as tired as you were at that moment. However, stubborn as you were, you didn’t want the night to end.
“I disagree.” The other girl muttered under her breath. She looked down and chuckled at you fighting your natural urge to close your eyes. “You’re tired.”
“I’m good.” You tried.
Your roommate swung her arm over you, pulling you closer into a more comfortable position. “uhm,” she started tentatively. “you’re welcome to stay with me tonight…I mean, if you want.”
You melted in the comfort of her grip, and through the tiredness you managed to smile at her. “yeah, I’d like that.”
And just like that, you closed your eyes and another day was gone.

"I was worried something happened to you" with pierre-luc dubois
"I was worried something happened to you."
-
It was an unfortunate series of events, truly.
Ice in the winter was deadly, but you never expected to be carrying groceries with your roommate when she slipped on the stairs leading up to your apartment, effectively shattering her leg.
An ambulance was called immediately, and you rode the entire way to the hospital with her. Due to the late hour, the emergency room was operating at its lowest capacity, leaving you in a waiting room chair for hours on end while you waited for an update. The EMTs declared her tibia had broken, along with some pieces of her knee splintering off. Conclusion? Emergency surgery.
It was almost midnight when you received a call from your boyfriend, who was on a roadtrip on the west coast. You presumed he was calling you before heading to bed, but you’d been so preoccupied with your roommate that you forgot he had even played a game tonight.
“Hey, baby,” Pierre’s scruffy face greeted you. He immediately took in the unfamiliar off-white walls behind you. “Where are you at?”
“The hospital,” you answered with a sigh. “It’s been a long night. I’ve been here since eight—”
“What the fuck are you doing in the hospital? What happened? Are you okay?” Pierre went into full panic mode, sitting up from his relaxed position on the bed and bombarding you with questions.
“Well I was with Carrie—” Just then, a doctor rounded the corner and called your name.
“Hold on, Luc,” you said. “The doctor’s here. I gotta go. Call you later.”
You hung up before Pierre could say goodbye, eager for any update the doctor had. You sprung up from the chair with shaky hands.
“Is she okay?” You asked.
“Surgery was successful,” he answered with a smile, immediately calming your nerves. “We had to remove the splintered knee fragments and reset her tibia, but she is fine. She should be waking up from surgery any minute now if you’d like to see her. She’ll make a full recovery but it will be a few months.”
The doctor ushered you to Carrie’s room and found her lounged on the bed, broken leg elevated in a fancy contraption and a tired look on her face.
“Yikes.” You couldn’t help but make fun of her situation.
“God, I know right? Wasted fifty dollars worth of groceries, and I won’t be able to walk for months,” she chuckled dryly. “At least I’m so medicated I can’t feel any pain right now.”
A nurse brought in a padded chair at that moment, sliding it over to you since you requested if you could stay the night with Carrie. You didn’t want to leave her in the middle of surgery to wake up alone, and with it being so late, it didn’t make sense to go back home.
Exhaustion washed over you now that you were reassured your friend was okay, and she gave you the extra blanket on her bed for you to curl up with.
In all your worrying about Carrie, you completely disregarded the phone buzzing away in your bag and the tens of text messages and missed calls from Pierre. You fell asleep in that hospital room with Carrie, oblivious to the heart attack you were about to cause your boyfriend.
A knock woke you both up around eight in the morning, the same nurse from last night making her rounds to check Carrie’s vitals. Her prognosis was good. They decreased the morphine in hopes of getting her off it completely, and when the doctor came back in an hour later to check in, he supposed she’d be able to be released the next day so long as everything went smoothly today.
A few seconds into his discharge instructions, a hurried figure rounded the hospital room door and bursted in.
“Oh, Jesus Christ,” Pierre cursed a breath of relief when he saw you, clutching his laboring chest.
“And you are?” The doctor asked not unkindly, but he didn’t appreciate the interruption.
“Luc? What are you—” You turned to Carrie and the doctor, feeling rude about the interruption yourself. “I’ll be just outside.”
You grabbed Pierre by the wrist and tugged him into the empty hallway, and his hands immediately cupped your face to search for any sign of injury. “You had me worried to death,” he said, still in the process of catching his breath. He’d clearly run from somewhere, probably through the hospital to find you.
“Of course I’m okay,” you said. “What are you doing here so early? Weren’t you supposed to fly back today?”
“I was,” he answered. “Until you told me you were in the hospital then proceeded to ignore all my messages, so I booked the first flight back. I was worried something happened to you.”
“Oh.” Realization dawned on you. “Oh, I meant I was in the hospital with Carrie. She broke her leg last night and had to have surgery. I’m so sorry, babe. I didn’t mean to scare you like that.”
“I’m just glad you’re okay,” he sighed. “I mean, I feel bad for Carrie, but you nearly sent me into cardiac arrest.”
“I feel terrible. I’m sorry I didn’t get back to you, but it was late when she got out of surgery and we were so tired.”
Pierre brought you into a tight hug. “I understand.” He kissed your forehead. “Please don’t do that to me again though.”
“Promise,” you chuckled, wrapping your arms around his torso. “Would you mind taking me home so I can take a shower and grab some things for Carrie?”
“Of course,” he replied. “I better let the guys know you’re okay. I think I freaked them out last night.”
“Oh god.” Remorse washed over you in waves. You hadn’t even spared him a second thought after that phone call because you were worried about Carrie, and here he was worrying all his teammates and coaches that something terrible happened to you.
But there was another part of you that wanted to cry over your boyfriend’s concern. He flew all the way from California in the middle of the night just to check on when you wouldn’t pick up.
“We should get you home then. You’re probably exhausted.” You took note of his messy hair and tired eyes.
“I think I lost about five years off my life after that,” Pierre said dryly, obviously too fatigued to put more effort into his joke. “If I never step foot in a hospital again, it will be too soon.”

The End (Xiao x fem!reader)
A/N: There's angst, abortion, nsfw concepts, and swearing! If you are uncomfortable with any of that please DON'T read! This was also written a while ago and was just a story concept I pumped out quickly before I forgot it.
(He’s pretty much straight faced for a good majority of this unless stated either wise lol.) (Also Xiangling is roommate/best friend)
(3rd Person POV)
He didn’t know how human relationships worked. They had been together for a long time. That night in her home, something just tugged at him and he couldn’t help himself. She was so intoxicating and he felt something warm inside of his heart. She stayed regardless of his true form and all the atrocities he committed in the past. She was scared, but trusted him…why? She was so…beautiful.  He panted and caressed her cheek with his hand. Had he been someone else he would’ve said she was the one. “Are you alright?” “Yes, I’m ok.” Although his face didn’t show much emotion, his mind had millions of thoughts in his head.  He got up from where she was laying and proceeded to pick up and gently toss her top garment at her. “Cover up.” “Why? U just saw all of me.” Airy laughs left her lips. “It doesn’t matter. I still want you to be decent. I want to keep some of your dignity.” “I guess.” She put the garment on. “Cant you at least stay just a little bit?” He fastened the vision back around his wrist back facing towards her and sighed. “Only for a little while.”  She smiled. He came over and sat on the bed next to her after he finished dressing himself once more. He didn’t know what he wanted to do or what humans would normally do after the fact. He knew when her breathing slowed. He simply got up and left. ~~~
(1st Person) “So you’re telling me. You slept. With a fucking adeptus?!” “Yea?..” “Conqueror of Demons SPECIFICALLY.” “Yea…” “And your period is late.” “Yeaaaaaaaaa……” “Oh Rex Lapis. What, where, when, and how the hell?!” “A couple weeks ago?…”(sheepish) “Do I dare to ask what sex with him was like?!” “Iiiiiiiiiii think he’d prefer I don’t answer that question.” Bubu Pharmacy was busy when we got there. I stood outside and Xiangling bless her soul was kind enough to get the rest herself for me. I don’t think I could stand the embarrassment. “A pregnancy test Ms. Xiangling?” Baizhu asked. “It’s for a friend!” “Well I hope that your friend gets her preferred result.” We then went home. “What are you gonna do if it’s negative?” “I think I’d prefer that.” “What if it comes out positive?…” “I haven’t thought that far.” “You know you’d have to tell him right?” “I don’t know how he’d take it to be honest.” “Well bestie, I want u to know that no matter what I’ll be here to help u and support u ok?”
(time skip) Xiangling sat outside the bathroom cleaning around. It had been 10 minutes. She knocked on the door. “Hey? Is everything ok? Hello?” “Oh uh, I’m here.” “I-I take it from the amount of time you’ve been in there that the result isn’t very good?…"
She opened the door. I felt like I wanted to cry but I was also in disbelief. Xiangling opened her arms. “Cmere. It’s ok.” I let myself be embraced in the hug. Even if I wanted to cry, my body just didn’t seem to want to let me.  “You know you have to tell him.” “He’ll come if I call out his name.” We decided to give me at least three days to think.
We went to the large tree in the clearing of Jueyen Karst(Azhdaha tree) for a secluded area away from human society. Xiangling agreed to stay nearby in the area just in case. After a while I quietly say, “Xiao?” Pause. The surrounding air stood still. “U called?” There he stood, behind me. I gave a small smile. We sat near the water's edge. “Hey. We haven’t spoken since…that one time.” He looked away at the ground either in shame or guilt. His expression didn’t give away too much.  “Yea. Uh…that.” “H-hey! Don’t worry, I’m not complaining! It felt…nice. I liked it, being close to you.” “Hm.” He closed his eyes, facing the ground. “You’re the first man I’ve ever given myself to. I want this to keep going. I want to keep being with u.” He opened his eyes. “Is that all you have to say?” “Uh….no.” There was a long pause of silence.
(3rd Person POV) “Well? Say it. What’s wrong?” She twiddled with her thumbs. “If it’s so important just say it-“ “I’m pregnant-“ “What?” His head whipped up to look at her. “…I’m pregnant.” There was a long pause and his mouth opened a little. He got up and looked off into the distance at nothing in particular. She was barely keeping it together. “I..” “Xiao?” She quickly got up too. “I-I gotta go.” He shook his head and there was, fear on his face. “X-Xiao-“ “I’m not mad.” He said before disappearing into the ether. She collapsed to the ground and let out a small scream. The worst case scenario was coming true. Images of that night played over and over again in her head. His breath against her body, their lips intertwined, her completely letting herself go to him. Was it all for nothing? Xiangling heard her cries and quickly ran over. She kneeled down and hugged her friend and held her close.
~~~
3 weeks had passed and she still hadn’t heard anything from Xiao. And she didn’t know what decision she wanted to take from here. If he didn’t communicate to her she’d have to make one herself. “So…where do u want to go from here?” Xiangling asked while cooking dinner. “I really don’t know…” “Well..you’re carrying an adepti’s child.” “Half adepti aren’t anything new Xiangling. Ganyu and Yanfei exist.” “Well if you want to keep it, you know you have them to help with their experiences growing and living as half adepti in Liyue.” “I guess.” “And you have me to help you too!” “What if I want to get rid of it?” Xianglings bright smile faltered and she placed down the utensils she was using and walked over to where her friend was sitting. She placed her hands on her friends shoulders. “I…(sigh)…I won’t let my personal opinions affect your decision making. Just know I’ll be here to support you and love you no matter what ok?” “Thank you Xiangling.”
~~~
It was about a week or so since she spoke to him. Nothing yet. She didn’t try calling him either. Unfortunately Xiangling had a busy night at the restaurant tonight, however, Bubu Pharmacy is just now closing up for the night. She knocked on the door. “Baizhu?” “Hmmmm? Ah, it’s you. How may I be of assistance?” “May we go to the back and talk in private?” Baizhu glanced over at Qiqi. “Continue cleaning the counter and I’ll be right back Qiqi. Please come to the back with me ma’am.” He smiled and she followed him.  “So, what may I get for you tonight Ms.?” “Um…..uh…something anti-pregnancy related?..”  “Ah I see.” He started glancing around the shelves and searching before finding something.  “Right here. This usually has the best results, however it is quite expensive. Since it’s you alone however, I don’t mind giving you a discount.” “Really? Baizhu thank you.” She was touched. He handed her the labeled container and she skimmed over it. “Dr. Baizhu?” That startled her. The child stared at what was in her hand. “Why are you buying that?” “Uh-“ “Alright Ms. I do thank you for doing business with me today. I wish the woman you are buying for the best of luck. I understand times must be rough.” “Oh, thank you Dr. Baizhu. I’m sure she’s very grateful for your generosity.” She smiled and walked out, concealing the container with her coat.
“What did Dr. Baizhu say?” Xiangling asked while washing her hands. “He gave me something that he thinks should work. However if I don’t decide within 7 weeks, my two decisions slim down to one.” “Are you gonna do it?..” she sighed and looked down. “I don’t know.” The case had been put away in the cabinet for a few days now. She didn’t fancy going through with it. At least not yet. Images of that night would constantly fill her head. His hands. They took many lives yet still felt so soft and gentle. His body, slim yet well built, flowed with hers. And now this.
~~~
Painful cries shattered the still night air. Pure agony had enveloped a human soul. Far away in the mountains of Jueyen Karst, the Vigilant Yaksha flinched.
~~~
Xiangling and her roommate were cleaning up her business after hours. Todays business was booming and the sales were a big success. Her friend was just starting to kind of look up, however she was still experiencing after effects.  “Oh shoot! I forgot to deliver this to a client! Can you finish closing up for me please? I’ll see u at home!” “Of course Xiangling!” “Thanks bestie! You’re amazing!”
There was a heavy presence. It was familiar… “…hi.” “Xiao…” she said sadly. There was a pause. “I’m…erm…I wanted to talk.” Her back faced him. His arms were crossed. “I thought you left.” She said solemnly. He gritted his teeth. “I needed to think.” Tension was heavy. He looked down. “I’m not pregnant anymore for your information.” His head shot up. His mouth hung open a little and his eyes slightly widened. He gave a heavy breath and looked down again. It took a lot of willpower to not let him see her cry. “This has to end.” “Excuse me?” She asked and turned around to face him. “This.” He gestured with a finger between the two of them.“Whatever this is.” That hurt to hear. “Why?” “Haven't I taken enough from u already?” She didn’t answer and looked down. “Exactly. You’re young. Might as well find another mortal to take your hand.” She was silent. A tear left her eye.  He was about to face away from her again and possibly leave.  “Alatus.” A nerve was struck. “What did you say?” She looked up at him.  “You heard me. Alatus. U wanted me to call you that that night-“ “And it’s obvious there was an error in my decision making-“ “Why did you even come back?” He grimaced. Now he was silent. “You might as well have left me forever. You know what you did to me!” She shouted. He sighed. “I didn’t think you would’ve rid of it.” “And what was I supposed to do when I didn’t hear from u for weeks?!” “It’s not uncommon.” “That wasn’t something you could’ve just waited communicating about!” He didn’t want to say something he’d regret.  “We’re done here.” “Xiao!” “I said we’re done!” He shouted. She stepped back. “We both knew this wasn’t going to work.” Last time she saw him disappear.
~~~
(extended ending)
Xiangling swore to keep it a secret. But some late night traveler walked by and heard the exchange and now Liyue Harbor’s gossip crew were eating up the story of a single girl carrying the child of an adeptus. Not a day went by where she heard people asking about the baby, and the father, and her pregnancy. She was starting to regret. Her wounds needed time to heal. If she didn’t waste so much time on that damned yaksha… “Would you just shut up?! There is NO baby!” That information was enough for scandals to form and news about her being a murder and adeptus killer spread. She just wished a single day went by where she wasn’t shamed for "ruining Liyue’s future". She cried whenever she got home. Xiangling, a blessing of Rex Lapis, was there with her the whole time. Through thick and thin.  “I still feel physical pain every once in a while.” “I know…” “I just want it to stop.” “Many people are quick to think you’re crazy to not be happy that u were blessed enough to carry the child of a yaksha without knowing the whole context. If they knew what went down I'm sure their opinions would change in a heartbeat.” “What’d you tell them?” “I told them as much! That they have no right to speak. If it was them they wouldn’t be feeling the way they do now. None of this is your fault and you shouldn’t blame yourself. You r an amazing person under highly stressful circumstances. You are completely justified and I’m here for you no matter what.” “Thanks. I just wished things turned out differently…”
~~ He heard the rumors, the scandals, and the gossip. It’s not like he already felt guilty. But this was for the best. He wouldn’t have felt anything for it anyway. Why make the thing suffer because of his past actions.
“Alatus” she called him. With love and trust…how foolish…
Word Count: 1,500ish
Summary: You continue your job at the coffee shop. Steve continues to visit the coffee shops.
Notes: basically just pure fluff. Like, tooth-rotting fluff. I’m just trying to fill you up so that you’ll last through the angst. Also, I’m making playlists for a lot of my series. Check out this post to access the playlist and find out how to suggest songs.
You came home with a loopy grin on your face. You hummed around the apartment as you prepared for bed. Your thoughts were on Steve. His face, his kindness, his eyes, his talent. Just the sliver you got to see of him made you yearn for more. Natasha had been in her room reading when she heard you humming around. Curiosity pulled her from her book and caused her to find you almost in a love-induced daze as you brushed your teeth. Natasha leaned against the doorway behind you, arms crossed over her chest with a playful smirk on her lips.
“Well this is definitely new,” she commented.
You yelped as you jumped slightly, Natasha having scared you. The red-headed roommate laughed at your reaction.
“Sorry,” she apologized with a smile. “It’s just, I’m not used to you so dazed like that.”
“Me either,” you giggled slightly.
“I’m guessing your second day of work was a success?”
You nodded. “Very much so.”
“Yeah….? You want to elaborate?”
“Not really.”
“Are you serious?”
“Yep.” You popped the ‘p’ teasingly.
“Come on, Y/N. What happened? Did you get a raise already? Did your coworkers do something nice? Did you meet a guy?” You bit down on your bottom lip. “No… you met a guy?”
You shook your head, turning to push past Natasha to head to your own room. “I’m not talking about this right now.”
“Oh, come on!” Natasha followed. “What was his name? Did he give you his number? What did he look like? Have you already memorized his order?”
“Night, Tasha,” you shut your bedroom door and locked it.
“I’m not dropping this!”
“Goodnight Natasha!”
~~~
“How was the bar with Tony?” Bucky asked as Steve walked through their apartment door.
“Oh, I actually didn’t make it to the bar,” Steve answered. “I was on my way when Tony texted and said that he needed to head home since I was already late and he has some big meeting in the morning.”
Bucky turned from where he sat on the couch to see Steve better. “You were late, why?”
“I, uh, got caught up in my sketchbook.”
Brows pinching together, Bucky didn’t believe his friend. There was something else to that. He smirked. “Sure you did, punk. You wanna tell me about her?”
Steve’s head snapped in Bucky’s direction, eyes wide like he had been caught. “I—I don’t—I didn’t— there wasn’t—”
Bucky cackled. “I’m just messing with you, but now I know there was a girl.”
Steve sighed as he came and plopped down in the chair next to the couch. “She was so… bright. Like, she was beautiful but also much more than that.”
“Did you actually talk to her or stare creepily at her?”
“We talked. I actually lost track of time and was there past close so I helped her clean up.”
“Did you get her number?”
“No.”
“Did you get her name?”
“Yes.”
Bucky waited for a beat. “Are you going to tell me it?”
“I don’t think I will.”
“Are you serious?”
“Very.” Steve slapped the tops of his knees as he stood up. “Night, Buck.”
“I will get to the bottom of this!”
~~~
You were grateful that Natasha was already at work when you woke up. And by the note she left for you on the fridge, you’d be at work when she gets home. You spent the day getting the needed supplies and textbooks for your classes, that would start next Monday. After you finished your errands, you dropped off your things and headed to work. You couldn’t help but hope that Steve would be there.
As you walked into the coffee shop, your eyes flitted toward the corner where Steve had sat yesterday. You watched as his head snapped in the direction of the door, catching your eye. Both of you grew goofy grins on your faces.
“Hey Y/N!” Wanda greeted from behind the counter.
This pulled you from focusing on Steve. “Hi,” you responded, coming around to put away your personal items and pull on an apron. “How’s it been today?”
“Fairly steady. Nothing you shouldn’t be able to handle.” Wanda pulled off her own apron. “Our local artist might need a refill.”
You glanced over to see that Steve had changed his position so that his back was to the window and he was facing you. His head was down slightly as he worked in his sketchbook, sneaking peeks up at you.
“Right,” you said. Wanda had grabbed her things and was now heading out. “See you!”
“Good luck!” Wanda said, the bell ringing as she left.
You turned to the back counter to prep coffee to refill Steve’s. You turned around to grab something and you jumped back. Steve was sheepishly standing on the other side of the counter.
“Sorry,” he muttered. His face was red as one of his hands came back to rub his neck. “I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“You’re fine, Steve,” you smiled. “How may I help you?”
“I, uh, I guess a refill.” He pushed his cup that was on the counter closer to you.
“I was just about to come and refill yours, actually.” You took his cup and turned to refill it.
“Oh, sorry.”
“It’s fine, Steve.” You turned back and handed him his cup back, your fingers brushing against each others. “Made my job easier.”
“Then good.” He smiled.
“How was the bar with your brother, right?”
“Yeah, I actually didn’t make it in time.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.”
“It’s not your fault. I lost track of time.” As you nodded, the door rang, signaling a customer coming in. “I should let you get back to work.”
“Yeah. Just let me know when you need another refill.”
Steve held up his cup as he backed away. “Will do.”
You tried not to stare too much as he walked back to this seat and the new customer came up to the counter. You helped them quickly, just in time for another customer to walk in. You pressed out a smile, hoping to finish with this customer so you could final a way to talk to Steve again.
~~~
Unfortunately for you, Wanda had been right. It was steady for the remainder of the day. It was nothing you couldn’t handle but in the few seconds you had to spare you needed to restock the coffee and clean up. You would often find Steve looking at you throughout your shift. Both of you would snap your heads away once your eyes met. You sighed as soon as the last customer left and you turned off the open sign. You turned to see Steve packing up his things.
“Done with your art for the day?” You questioned.
“Yeah,” he responded. “I didn’t actually get much done today… I, uh, had trouble focusing.”
“I’m sorry about that.”
“I’m not.”
Your heart skipped a beat. You two stared at each other for a moment. “I should get cleaning.”
“Need any help?”
“I can’t ask you to do that.”
“You’re not asking, I’m offering.”
“Only if you’re sure.”
“I’m sure.”
~~~
After the two of you cleaned and had closed up the store, the two of you stood outside of it.
“Thank you for helping,” you said.
“Of course,” he responded. “Uh, do you work tomorrow?”
“Yeah. It’s my last ‘easier’ shift.”
“Easier shift?”
“These three shifts were to get me back into the swing of things. I definitely need more hours if I’m going to pay rent and tuition.”
“You’re going to school?”
“Yeah, start on Monday.”
“Same. Maybe we’ll see each other around campus.”
“I’d like that.”
“Can I—oh, I really struggle with this, sorry. Uh, can I—“
“My number’s on the napkin I slipped into your sketchbook while we were cleaning.” Steve stared at you in awe. “Can I expect to see you tomorrow?”
“Uh-huh,” he nodded, speechless.
“Good. I’ll see you then. Goodnight, Steve.” You headed toward your apartment.
“Yeah… goodnight, Y/N.”
Steve stood in his spot as he watched you walk away. Eventually, he shook himself out of his daze and went over to his motorcycle. He straddled it before flipping through his sketchbook. Between two empty pages, he found the napkin with just your number on it. He quickly entered your contact information and shot you a text.
~~~
You were climbing up the stairs to your apartment when your phone buzzed.
Unknown: Hey, it’s Steve. Let me know when you get home.
You smiled as you walked into the apartment. Natasha was sitting on the couch. She turned to watch you walk in, smiling at your phone.
“So I’m guessing the mystery man showed up again today?” She questioned.
You ignored the question and headed straight for your bedroom. “Goodnight, Nat,” you told her as you shut the door and locked it.
Me: I’m home safely.
My Artist Guy: Glad to hear that.
My Artist Guy: I’ll see you tomorrow, doll. Sweet dreams.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
That night you went home early, never seeing Ellie’s band play. You don’t even have the energy to take off the makeup you had done special for that evening. You quickly changed to your pajamas, then slipped right into bed, all while maintaining a steady flow of tears.
You attempted to go to sleep, in fact, that’s all you really wanted to do. You didn’t want to feel the hurt of Ellie anymore. Unfortunately, sleep wasn’t in your near future. The night continued to play on a loop in your mind driving you insane. You questioned why you ever thought she would feel the same way about you as you did her. You felt stupid.
Ellie arrived home later that night. Not ready to face her just yet, you turned towards the wall and pretended to sleep. She would’ve fell for it too, but the hitch in your breath as you tried to swallow your sobs gave you away.
“Hey… uh, are you alright?” she gently inquired. Ellie was perplexed, still not understanding why you had stormed out on her and never came back. Has she done something to you? Or maybe you were jealous of Cat? She wanted to hear you say the words.
 “If you think I’m crying over you, I-I’m not. I’m fine.” you finally muttered, putting all your defenses up. You felt embarrassed for feeling so strongly about her. This answer broke Ellie’s heart and she wasn’t quite sure why. She wished you would’ve stayed for her show, it was important, but it seemed like you could care less how your actions affected her. You humbled her in the worst way possible and it made her, in a way, resentful. Resentful enough that she wouldn’t open her eyes to the obvious fact that the two of you were more than just roommates.
Ellie responded, impulsive and pissed off, “Well fine, I’m glad. I- I really like Cat, and I don’t need you screwing this up for me.”
“Me??? Mess it up for you??? Don’t worry Ellie, you can do that all on your own, believe me.” You cringed hearing yourself be so cruel to the girl you love. You didn’t mean it.
That night neither of you slept and it was like that for the rest of the week. You hung around Dina as much as you could to avoid Ellie's presence. Being around her was like torture. Even more like torture was the fact that you were keeping it all a secret from Dina. You felt like a fool for getting into such a stupid situation. You’d just get embarrassed and start tearing up if you tried to tell her. But that didn’t stop Dina from asking. The other day, the two of you were hanging out and she brought up Cat, or as she liked to call her “the cunt from class”, never bothering to learn her real name.
“What ever happened with that cunt from class being at Ellie’s show the other night?”
“Oh Cat? Yeah, I guess she just happened to see a flyer and showed up. I don’t really know.” you replied trying not to sound too suspicious.
“Cat? You guys are on a first name basis now?” She chuckled, noticing your sudden unusual behavior, and questioning how you knew her name. You laughed along with her trying to play it off. Dina didn’t wanna pry though, she knew you’d tell her when you were ready. You loved how patient she was with you. You never had those kinds of friends back home. Dina saw your eyes soften as you admired the friendship the two of you shared.
“What?” she teased.
“I just love you Dina, that's all.” you said matter-of-factly and leaned in for a big embrace. She grabbed the sides of your face and leaned in to plant a kiss on the top of your head. Whatever was going on, she knew you needed the love.
“Love you too y/n.” she smiled back at you.
Taking advantage of the tender moment Dina mentioned, “by the way, there’s this party happening Friday and I think we should go.”
“I don’t know about a party…” you said reluctantly. You had been so down lately that you didn’t feel like partying, but that’s exactly why Dina insisted you go.
“Pleaseeee Y/n!!! A party would do you some good, You’ve been such a sad sack lately.” She was practically begging, so you gave up and agreed to go.
Meanwhile Ellie was being dragged around by Cat. It’s not that Cat was all bad news. There were some times where Ellie really liked hanging around her but it was mostly when the two of them were alone. Anytime other people came around, Cat’s attitude shifted and she became defensive and insecure. It’s like the presence of others presented this possibility that she could be abandoned by Ellie. Everyone felt like a threat.
Ellie disliked that side of her, but she could also sympathize. She knew what it felt like to be rejected and forgotten about, I mean, you were doing that to her right now. You were barely around anymore, always with that Dina girl. Maybe that was the real reason Ellie kept Cat around;
She knew she would never leave her. And if one day she did, deep down, Ellie knew she wouldn’t really care. Not like how she cares about you.
On Friday you headed over to Dina’s place and the two of you got ready for the party together. Dina did your makeup for you, she even put glitter under your eyes for a special touch.
“You look so hot bro. The sparkles are adorable, you’re like a little fairy” Dina exclaimed, proud of her work. You looked in the mirror and smiled. You haven't felt this good in a while. Once you guys arrived at the party you went straight to the backyard of the frathouse to smoke. No way you’d be here sober.
You lit the end of the pink joint and said, “I hate to admit it but… I think you were right D. I really did need this.” You took a hit and then passed it over to her.
“What? The joint? Or some quality time with your best friend?” she teased.
“Honestly, both.” The two of you burst into laughter at your blunt response, beginning to feel the high. Even after you finished smoking, you remained outside sitting on the steps. You had gotten so wrapped into conversation with each other that you almost forgot you were at a party. With the sudden realization you were still outside and the sound of Come Get Her playing on the speakers inside, you and Dina finally decided to get up and party.
That is, until Dina gets a call from her sister and has to step aside. You wait for her, leaning on the doorframe. As she talks there’s a serious look on her face. She finally finishes her conversation and looks to you to break the news.
“Y/n I’m really sorry, but I’ve gotta go. A family emergency came up and I gotta go help out my sister like right now.” You could tell by her tone that it was urgent and she genuinely felt bad for having to ditch you.
She continued, “but you, please stay. I think I just saw Ellie inside and I’m sure she’d be happy to party with you.” Not wanting to reveal your current situation with Ellie, you went along with it. You know Dina was only trying to help.
“Don't even worry about it D. I completely get it, family first. I love you.” you replied, bringing her in for a hug.
“Okay good, thank you for understanding babe. Byeee.” And with that, Dina was gone, and you were left to face this party alone. You couldn’t help but wonder if it was really Ellie that Dina had seen, or if she was just a little too high. Ellie didn’t seem like the frat party type, but honestly, neither did you. Even though you weren’t necessarily on speaking terms with her, you decided to go inside and look anyway.
That’s when you spot her with none other than Cat the cunt. She was hanging all over Ellie, it was almost gross. The sight left you sick and you straight-lined it to the alcohol to take a couple shots. Those couple of shots led to a couple more, and then a couple more as you watched Ellie and Cat practically suck each other’s faces off. You couldn’t stop staring though, it was almost sadistic.
Busy chaperoning the obnoxious couple, you managed to lose track of the amount of alcohol you were consuming. The nausea hit you like a truck and you stumbled to a dirty couch trying to deep breath through the churning of your stomach. A familiar voice interrupts your attempt at self-soothing.
“Y/n?” You look up at the sound of your name coming from your favorite person's mouth. As you opened yours to greet her, all that came out were chunks. Ellie jumped back, just missing the splash zone. Your throw up now soaked the frat house couch and the floor surrounding. And in front of Ellie? How embarrassing. While you were busy cursing yourself in your head for making such a scene, Ellie was cursing herself for not finding you sooner.
The idea of you drunk and all alone at a frat party scared her, and she was your protector. With that scenario flashing through her mind she scooped you into her arms and rushed you to the bathroom. The whole world was spinning as Ellie plopped you onto the floor in front of the toilet. She held back your hair and rubbed your back as you continued to vomit. You were already beginning to sober up as your body rid you of the intoxicating liquid. Ellie pushed at your baby hairs and wiped at the sweat collecting on your temples from the heaving. Despite everything, Ellie really did care for you. She couldn’t stand to see you in pain. And she couldn’t stand the thought of someone hurting you either.
“Come back to my bandmates with me. Please?” Ellie finally spoke.
Feeling the nausea dissipate, you responded, “thanks for your help but I think I’ll be fine just walking back to the dorm.”
“A drunk girl walking 20 minutes across campus, in the dark, alone??? That’s like the stupidest idea you’ve ever had.” Ellie hated how stubborn you were.
“I’m not even that drunk anymore,” you paused for a beat, “but fine. I’ll go with you.” Ellie sighed in relief. She put you under her arm and started leading you to the door. She was so warm and you felt so safe. As she walks outside, Ellie spots Cat and knows she’s in trouble. Ellie gently sits you down on the curb so she can go deal.
“Els, what the fuck is she doing here?” Cat spits as soon as Ellie is in listening distance.
“Listen Cat, I don’t know, but she’s really messed up and I can’t just leave her here.”
Cat raises her voice, louder this time, “what do you mean?? Are you really picking her over me?”
“I didn’t know I had to pick. Shes my fucking friend Cat.”
“But- but… I’m your girlfriend” she says, voice trembling with insecurity.
Ellie turns to leave the exhausted conversation, “it doesn’t work like that. I- I’ve gotta go now, we’ll talk about this later. I'm sorry.”
The next thing you know you’re sitting in a strangers kitchen and Ellie is force feeding you crackers and water, trying to sober you up. Just being there with her is already making you feel so much better. You talk and giggle through the night like you guys had never even fought. A sleeve of Saltines, 3 glasses of water, and 2 Advil later you’re beginning to feel a little more like your normal self.
This doesn’t stop Ellie from coddling you like a little baby for the rest of the night. She took off your makeup for you and even let you borrow the extra T-shirt she had brought in her backpack. You slipped into the bathroom to change into your makeshift pajamas. You stared back at your reflection in the mirror and couldn’t help but smile seeing yourself in nothing but Ellie’s baggy shirt. It was just like in your dreams; except now you were in her clothes for a different reason, not because you guys just finished having mind blowing sex. How unfortunate. You went back out into the living room and stood in front of Ellie.
“So uh, where should I sleep?” you asked with an awkward smile. Your shoulders shrunk in and you fidgeted with your charm bracelet as you waited for a response. The silence continued to drag out because Ellie was too busy imagining her own fantasies. Her heart fluttered as you stood there all coy in her shirt. She pictured you in the same exact outfit making pancakes for the both of you in the kitchen of your shared apartment. She imagined sneaking up behind you to feel your figure through the baggy clothes. She’d plant kisses all over your neck until you would finally turn around from your cooking to give her a real ki-
“Ellie..?”
Your words managed to drag her out of the fake scenario, “shit yeah um. This is a pull out couch so we can set you up there.” Ellie gestured to the couch in the middle of the room and then got up to pull it out. She fixed it up with sheets and a pillow provided by her generous bandmate who was in her bedroom just down the hall. You climbed into the covers and sat as you waited for Ellie to join you. Instead she set up on the floor next to you.
Confused with her behavior you stated, “you can sleep up here with me. You know that right?”
“I guess I kinda thought you wouldn’t want me to.” Ellie confessed, tilting her head down in shame.
“Of course I want you to Els.” She missed hearing you call her that, how could she refuse? Ellie climbed right into bed and there was an immediate increase in tension. The thought of you right beside her with just a shirt and panties drove Ellie wild. She felt like such a piece of shit for even thinking like that, but part of her wondered if you also felt the rising tension. You both lay on your sides, backs facing each other, when you finally disturb the loud silence.
“I missed you.”
“What do you mean? We live together.” Ellie wasn’t stupid though.
“You know what I mean Els.” you answered, voice breaking slightly. Ellie felt so guilty knowing that a lot of this mess was her own fault. She then shifted to face your back and tugged your hips into the space between her thighs and torso.
“I missed you too…” Ellie said against your neck, sending chills down your spine. Her arm reached past your waist and raised your T-shirt right below the start of your breasts. She took that same tattooed arm and wrapped it around your now bare tummy, pulling you in even closer. Her touch made you gasp.
Ellie was a pretty skinny girl but she was strong, you could see it in her arms, the way they flexed when she played guitar or lifted something. But, when you visualized her touch, you had never imagined it being this soft. You practically melted feeling her skin brush against yours. An ache was radiating between your legs as you clenched your thighs together in agony. You wanted her hands in places other than your plush stomach. Ellie did too, but you were coming down from being completely wasted, and she was still with Cat. It just wasn’t right.
The rest of the night you remained in the same position in fear of losing each other’s touch, but aware that nothing more would happen. Then, that morning, you woke to no touch. Ellie was already gone, and your heart broke all over again. Her guilt had taken over after Cat sent a string of texts expressing her insecurity in the relationship. She explained to Ellie that she didn’t feel loved or important because of her favoring towards you. And Cat was right, Ellie did favor you. She was trying so hard to be “good” and ignore her feelings, trying not to be a cheater, but she was hurting you (the one she truly loves) in the process. Why couldn’t she just let go of Cat? Would you ever experience a night like that with her again?

Chapter 9
Tumblr media
Author’s note: I have finally escaped Katsumi. He’s just so lovable and totally not obsessed. Just a nice normal guy.

    (Your name) groaned as she rolled her head over. Her head was pounding so much, she thought she was dying. Just how much had she drank?
     (Your name) stirred awake, her eyes taking in the sleeping face of Katsumi. Fragments of the events last night flashed through her mind. Oh no… did they?
     Katsumi stirred, her dark eyes softening when they met her (eye color) ones.
     “Good morning. How’s the hangover?” Katsumi softly placed a hand on her forehead, his fingers brushing a few stray locks away from her face. “You fell asleep on my chest. I was hoping you’d stay like this longer.”
     “Good morning.” (Your name) wrapped her arm around Katsumi. His scent of clean linen and musk was everywhere. It was super calming… she almost could fall asleep again. But she knew she shouldn’t ask that if Katsumi when they weren’t even dating. “You are very comfortable.”
     (Your name) absentmindedly traced her fingers over some of his scars. Katsumi laid his head on top of hers, his fingers running themselves through her scalp.
     “It’s almost like you’re my boyfriend.” (Your name) smiled up at Katsumi. The young man placing a kiss on her head.
    “I could be.” Katsumi teased, pressing his lips against her head again. “We could be like this all the time then.”
    “You’ll have to give me a little bit of time to decide.” (Your name) whispered, leaning into his comforting embrace. Which only stirred Katsumi on to pepper her with more kisses.
     (Your name) giggled before sitting up, the top half of her body now draping over Katsumi’s. A few stands of her hair tickling his face. (Your name) staring at him with half lidded eyes.
    Katsumi froze when she placed her hands on either side of his face, tilting his head up a bit.
    “I like you a lot.” (Your name) leaned in, her lips shyly pressing against Katsumi’s. Katsumi shut his eyes, his lips pressing against hers just as softly. His heart soaring when she shyly pulled away. Katsumi grasped her chin to give her one more gentle peck.
     “I like you a lot too.” Katsumi pulled (your name) up with him as he sat up. Her smaller frame being engulfed by his much larger one. Katsumi pressed his forehead against (your name)’s. “It’s so hard not to kiss you more.”
     “Ahem.” Zaria knocked on the door frame, the two lovebirds blushing at the interruption. “Stop being so cute you two. Atsushi and Baki are waiting on you two to eat breakfast.”
     “Who’s Baki?” (Your name) asked, her brows furrowed. “Did you have two guys-“
     “No! He came home with you and Katsumi to help carry blankets.”
     “Oh okay.” (Your name) replied, pulling herself away from Katsumi, the man whining a bit. “I guess we’ll join them.”
     “You better. We’re all hungry.” Zaria teased, the young woman ducking back down the hall to the dining room.
     “Thanks for spending the night, Katsumi.” (Your name) smiled at the young man. “We’ll have to do this again sometime.”
     “If you invite me over more often, I’m probably never going to leave.” Katsumi teased, putting his shirt back on from last night. “I’ll be your permanent roommate then.”
    “I might not be opposed to that in the far future.” (Your name) teased, grabbing his hand. “We should probably stop flirting and head to breakfast.”
     “I’ll change my pants later then.”
     “Right after. And then I want you out of my house.” The two shared a laugh, making their way to the dining room.
     “You’re so eager to get rid of me. You don’t have a hot date or something, do you?” Katsumi’s eyes stared at (your name), his eyes darkening. She didn’t need to date anyone else now that they’ve been better aquatinted. They were practically dating after last night. No… (your name) is his girlfriend now. They spent the night together. That was a significant step in anyone’s blooming relationship.
     “I need to train and Monday I start my new job.” (Your name) answered with a half truth. Her gut was telling her not to tell him the complete truth.
     “I’ll try to come by and see you at work then. A few of my students are in Kindergarten.”
    “So they’re going to be calling me your girlfriend instead of their teacher then?” (Your name) laughed.
    “You’re saying it like it’s a bad thing-“
     “Sit down and eat!” Zaria interrupted, Katsumi and (your name) quickly taking their seats. A young man with shoulder length red hair waved at (your name) while Atsushi wiggled his brows at Katsumi.
     “Yo. My name is Baki Hanma.” Baki gave (your name) a confident smile. “You’re (your name), right? The girl who beat Hanayama?”
     “It was a draw actually. If I hadn’t moved fast enough, he probably would’ve hurt me more than I hurt him.” (Your name) was humble. Baki knew she was a better fighter than Hanayama, perhaps she just didn’t want to openly admit it.
     “Hmm. Has anyone ever told you you’re really pretty before?” Katsumi choked on his eggs, her eyes widening at Baki. Baki wasn’t openly flirting with his girlfriend was he?
     “I think you should eat your eggs and leave.” (Your name) smiled, Baki smirking at her.
     “A feisty one-“ Zaria plopped some toast in front of Baki.
     “She’s usually the meaner one but I’ll step up today. Eat your food and leave. You’ve overstayed your welcome in our humble abode.”
     Baki frowned before realizing he was the third (fifth) wheel here. Oops.
     “Sorry.” Baki nervously laughed. “I’ve just been a little off since my breakup.”
    “Just eat your eggs and toast-“ (your name) gave Zaria a look.
    “Someone didn’t sleep much last night. You’re being such a witch today.” (Your name) focused back on Baki. “You’re fine. Breakups make people do a lot of weird things. Just please don’t be so weird to me. I just met you five minutes ago.”
     “I won’t be.” Baki replied before scarfing down his eggs and toast. “If anything I want to fight you.”
      “A fight?” The whole energy in the room changed, (your name)’s eyes sparkling. “When and where?”
     “(Your name), you just got out of the hospital-“ Zaria could only watch helplessly as her friend stared down Baki with that familiar competitive gleam.
     “Next weekend. We could go to the arena-“
     “Middle of a forest. No rules. No interference.” (Your name) interrupted. “You’re challenging me to a fight then you’re fighting in my element. Preferably a place with lots of water.”
     “We are not in the jungle anymore-“
     “Deal.” Baki held out a hand, (your name) nearly crushing it when she squeezed her hand around it.
     “Can’t wait.” Baki then rose up from the table, shaking his hand.
     “I’ll see you next weekend then.” Baki left without another word, Zaria slapping her palm on her face.
     “You can’t just accept fights from homeless weirdos.” Katsumi and Atsushi choked on their breakfast when Zaria said that. Neither of those two girls must’ve known who Baki was.
     “I can’t if they’re rude. He looks like he needs knocked down a peg.”
     “He’s twenty.” Atsushi stated, (your name) turning her eyes to him only to look away when she saw all the claw marks on his neck. Zaria didn’t hold back last night.
     “A child.”
     “You’re two years older than him!” Zaria laughed, causing the whole table erupted in laughter.
    “I’m not interested in younger men. I’m not his mommy.” (Your name) teased, Katsumi sighing in relief. Thank goodness (your name) didn’t see Baki as a man. Baki had the most dating experience than everyone Katsumi knew. At least long term dating experience…
    “Thanks for hanging out with us. We’ll have to get together another time-“ Zaria interrupted (your name) with a giggle.
      “And this time we’ll give Katsumi and (your name) the house-“ Zaria screamed when a piece of buttered toast hit her in the chest. “Did you really throw your toast at me?”
    “Yes. Yes I did.”
.
.
     After Katsumi and Atsushi finally left and took all their belongings with them, Zaria gave (your name) a concerned look.
     “You didn’t tell that Hanayama guy where we lived right?”
     “No, why?” (Your name) asked with a nervous smile.
    Zaria sighed before heading over to the blanket shelf and pulling out a small gift box from under the blankets.
     “I think this is from him… the ribbon feels expensive.”
     (Your name) hesitantly opened the present. Her eyes wide at what was inside. It was another choker diamond necklace.
      “Okay. That is beautiful.”
     “He really wants to own me, huh?” (Your name) asked with a smirk on her face. “He doesn’t mask what he wants from me. He wants complete ownership. He must be the possessive type.”
   “I think you’re reading too much into it.” Zaria tried to reassure her friend even though Zaria knew the truth.
     “Zaria. Look.” (Your name) placed the necklace around her neck to show her friend what she meant. “It’s basically a fancy dog collar.”
     “Oh god… not another one.” (Your name) sighed before putting her hands on her hips.
    “Katsumi is just as bad too.” (Your name) frowned. “A shame because I really liked him.”
     “How is he bad? He seemed like he was super sweet to you.”
    “Zaria he dropped the box of condoms out of his pants last night. I ran one through the bathroom faucet and it had a hole in it. He might’ve done that to all of them. He was going to baby trap me!” (Your name) put a hand up to her face. “Not to mention he told me he loved me last night. He’s obsessed.”
     “At least your kids wouldn’t be ugly.” Zaria shrugged, trying to cheer up the mood.
     “As much as I would love to laugh because you’re right. This isn’t something I consented to. Plus I think he stole one of my shirts. He probably thinks we’re dating already.”
    “Why do you always attract all the weirdos?”
    “Hey you always get nice normal guys-“
     “Atsushi is an animal.” Zaria sighed dreamily. “He didn’t know what to do at first but I was able to get him to catch on quickly. It was fantastic.”
      “At least you had fun…”
     “Hey. I’m sure Katsumi meant well. He doesn’t seem bad at all. He carried you back from the beach and he made sure you were comfortable all night. He could’ve easily taken advantage of you when you were sleeping to baby trap you.”
     “That’s true… I don’t know. I just feel a little violated is all. I’ll forgive him this once, but only because you’re shagging one of his karate friends.”
     “And I’m going to keep shagging him.” Zaria placed a hand on (your name)‘s arm. “You should talk to Katsumi about that though. Tell him that it broke your trust a bit and that you’re willing to forgive him this once. Also that if he wants a baby so badly, you’ll give him one if you two get married-“
     “Hey now.”
     “Did you see him naked last night? I heard a bit of it last night.”
     “I… yes.” (Your name) flushed, Zaria grinning. Her eyes twinkling mischievously.
     “And how was he? What did you think?”
    “He was very attractive and…” (your name) blushed more as she recollected Katsumi’s body last night. “Everything was very nice.”
      “See? You are attracted to him at least.”
     “Doesn’t mean I want a baby.”
     “Tell him that. Maybe he let an intrusive thought win?”
     “You’re horrible for defending him.”
     “He’s not trying to own you. And I don’t even know what’s up with that Jack guy. He’s so scary looking. I bet you his man downstairs is as big as my arm-“
     “Gross. I don’t want to talk about anymore men downstairs-“
     “But you said Katsumi’s was nice-“
     “That’s not the point!” (Your name) blushed, hiding her face in her hands. “I’m done talking.”
     “Fine. But you and I both know, if you want to test drive some of them. Start with Katsumi. Don’t want you to be impaled-“
     (Your name) screamed in frustration before walking away. The choker still in her hands. Zaria sighed before turning around to clean up all of the dishes.
      Zaria wasn’t too sure about Katsumi now, but Atsushi had told her Katsumi likes (your name) a lot and Katsumi doesn’t understand anything about women.
      “(Your name). Let’s test all of those condoms!” Zaria stormed over the the box that was thrown into the trash. This was the only way to make sure he truly didn’t want to hurt (your name).
      Zaria took in a deep breath before unwrapping the condom, her fingers sticking the sticky rubber underneath the running water. A sigh of relief escaping her throat when there was no holes. She soon moved on to all the others, each of them passing the test.
      “(Your name)! It was just one of them! It might’ve just been a faulty condom.”
     “Oh thank god.” (Your name) sighed in relief, a soft smile on her face. She really liked Katsumi so it was nice to know that he didn’t mean to purposely trap her. “I feel bad for doubting him.”
     “With your history with talking to men, I don’t blame you. But he’s safe baby. He might’ve accidentally grabbed a shirt if yours since he was in such a rush to leave.” (Your name) nodded. She might’ve just been over thinking.
    Ever since Jun she’s been so scare to love. Not just because of the fact he abandoned her but how obsessed he was with her. There wasn’t a moment he ever left her alone, it got to the point her own mother started interfering with their relationship. Her mother hated him.
       “What time is that date with Jack? Are you sure you want to go? That note so cryptic. What if he kidnaps you?”
      “I don’t think he’d ask me to meet him somewhere after noon to kidnap me.” (Your name) teased. “It’s broad daylight.”
     “He could commit any crime and no one would stop him because he’s a giant.” Zaria nodded her head. “He’s like what? Over seven feet tall?”
      “I could take him.” (Your name) joked.
    “I feel like he could just hold an arm out and you’d never touch him.” Zaria chuckled. “Plus that address looked like it was a sanctuary in the forest. Maybe he’s taking you a hiking date?”
     “He’s clearly going to sacrifice me to the mountain god.”
      “Okay so he’s not kidnapping you in broad daylight but sacrificing you?”
     “Do no question the state of my mind. I’m in shambles.”
.
.
      (Your name) fiddled with her black hoodie that concealed her tank top and sports bra. A fashionable pair of black leggings covering her legs. She felt like she was in an adidas commercial (just without wearing adidas).
      “I like the monochrome look.” (Your name) turned to see the massive mountain of a man standing behind her. Jack was wearing a white hoodie and gray basketball shorts, his impressive leg muscles visible to everyone. (Your name) was honestly amazed someone made clothes that fit him.
     Jack gave her a smirk. The monster of a man bending down to speak to (your name).
      “You liking what you’re seeing?”
      “I honestly was amazed you found clothes that fit you.” (Your name) answered honestly. “You’re a very big man.”
      Jack threw back his head and laughed. He didn’t think she’d be the innocent type but then again, she had a sort of innocence to her. It was part of her mystique.
      “I’m taking you out in the forest. You seem to be the type who enjoys nature. I, myself, enjoy camping and being outdoors a lot.”
      (Your name) smiled at Jack. She didn’t think he’d be the considerate type, but then again. One should never judge a book by its cover.
      “I’m going to ask to hold your hand to take me where we’re going because your legs are much longer than mine.”
      “Or you just want to hold my hand.” Jack teased, holding out his hand for her. (Your name)‘s eyes widening when her hand only fit around 2 of his fingers. “Don’t be so alarmed. Everything on my is very big.”
     “You make me feel very small. I don’t like that.” (Your name) mumbled. Jack only laughing as he led her through a path in the forest.
      “I think it’s really cute.” Jack had to keep himself from thinking too much about how small she really was compared to him. The size difference was so drastic, he’d probably squish her on accident… but a more carnal part of him felt such a strong desire to protect her. She was just so small and dainty compared to all the other fighters. She might need someone big and strong to protect her in the future. And he’d be willing to be the one for that role.
     “You might as well pick me up at this point. I’m already dragging behind you.” (Your name) piped up, Jack’s eyes widening at her trying to keep up with him. “I told you your legs are long.”
      Jack hesitantly bent down, (your name) sitting on the crook of his arm. Her brows furrowing.
      “I don’t even take up a quarter of you. It’s kind of upsetting that I’ll never squash you.”
      “Maybe in your dreams you could.” Jack teased, the giant man easily carrying her with one arm. His heart softening at how her eyes lit up.
      “I’ve always wondered what it was like being this tall. It’s like a whole different world.” (Your name) whispered, her (eye color) eyes sparkling at Jack. “Have you ever smacked your big head on a tree branch before?”
    Jack laughed. “No. And you’re saying I have a big head?”
     “Yes. You have a big head. It’s kind of reminds me of a pit bull.”
      “Are you calling me a dog now?” Jack smiled at her, her eyes glaring at him.
     “No you just have a massive head and it’s the first comparison I thought of.”
     Jack grinned with all of his teeth at (your name).
     “I bite a lot harder than a pit bull.”
     “Your teeth are made of titanium?” (Your name) asked, her hands curiously touching Jack’s cheek. “I’ve never seen anything like that.”
     “You’re the first person to guess what they’re actually made of correctly.” Jack chuckled to himself. “How did you know?”
      “It’s not as shiny for one. And titanium is much more durable than silver. Since you’re a fighter, you wouldn’t want weak teeth.” (Your name) ran her hand along his face with a frown. “Your face has really taken a beating, huh?”
     “Is that a polite way of calling me ugly?” Jack asked, his eyes a little bit dull. He wouldn’t be surprised if (your name) didn’t find him attractive. Not a single woman does. He’s covered in scars not to mention the sheer size of him. He’s used to being feared but… a part of him desired to be loved. Even if he knew it wasn’t possibly for someone like him.
     (Your name) shook her head, both of her hands being placed on either side of his face.

     “I think your scars make you look tough. You look like someone whose bad side you definitely would never want to get on.” (Your name) smiled at him, Jack recoiling a bit in shock. His eyes widening when (your name) lightly traced her hands over his cheek scars from when he had his face torn off by Pickle. “You’re very handsome in a tough sort of way.”
      (Your name) pulled away before wrapping an around around his neck to stabilize herself more. Jack’s blue eyes studying (your name)‘s pretty face. He didn’t think she had such a sweet side to her. She was so feisty when he first met her, but perhaps that was her fighting persona.
     (Your name) seemed to be so much more than just a fighter to him now. She seemed to be genuinely interested in him and he’s never had a girl genuinely interested in him like this before… romance was always something he thought of in the back of his mind. Something he didn’t think he’d ever have, but here he was… here she was… his soulmate.
    Jack continued trekking into the forest, his blue eyes sneaking a glimpse at her every once in awhile. He wondered how she’d look in his hoodie… how she’d look in white.

Author’s note: thanks for reading. I’m so happy to finally show Jack. I feel like he’s such a softie underneath his rough exterior.

{FIVE}
Leaning against the car, Adrian was holding his hand firmly onto his right side as he tried to get his breathing in check, using his left hand to awkwardly remove his mask.
Attempting to vent his anger Adrian had gone out of his way to serve his favourite form of justice on the criminals of Evergreen, but those guys who had just attacked him came out of the blue.
Sure he had hoped killing a few creeps tonight would help him, but instead he had just ended up even more angry, especially seeing how he had to abandon the last fight.
Six guys on one but of course he had managed to get two of them with his sweet ninja stars, so they didn’t count but the other four they had been yelling at him and getting a few blows in, he just hoped that he would encounter them again because rematches were dope.
Looking down Adrian quickly scanned his eyes over his body, at least he hadn’t been stabbed but he felt like he was soon gonna be covered in bruises, and of course his nose was bleeding he could feel it dripping down his face.
Debating whether to go back and finish the job here and now Adrian is surprised to hear his phone start to ring, a classic song from the nineties blasting out making him grab it quickly from his right pocket.
Squinting because he wasn’t wearing his glasses Adrian answers the call, unaware how he was still heavy breathing and who exactly was on the other line.
“Er, Adrian is that you?” You ask after the call is answered but all you can hear is someone breathing hard and fast down the line.
“Fuck! Shit! Oh hi Y/N what’s up?” Adrian asks with a loud cough trying to calm is breathing whilst you pause for a moment.
“You know when you said to call if I ever need help-“
“Are you ok? What’s wrong? What’s happened!” Adrian shouts making you roll your eyes but smirk to yourself at the same time.
“I’m fine Adrian, just stuck at this fucking stupid party my date left me here and unless I walk home there is no way-“
“Where are you? I will come pick you up.” Adrian states firmly not sounding annoyed as such but you still feel bad all the same.
Explaining where you were Adrian groans but tells you he will be there as quick as he can, don’t talk to anyone or start walking just stay right where you are.
“Ok, Mom.” You joke making Adrian chuckle for a second then he ends the call, well that was easy.
You had been super nervous about calling Adrian wondering if he would even be awake but now you were just curious, why had he been heavy breathing?
Shaking that thought away because you didn’t want to start overthinking it you find yourself waiting outside the apartment block, checking your phone constantly and cursing for not wearing a jacket.
Lara’s date must have gone a lot better than yours for her to be radio silent, unless she had set this whole thing up so you had to call Adrian, but that was ridiculous right?
Tonight had felt like a waste of time from the moment you’d seen the look that Adrian had given you when you’d walked out of your room, trying so hard to ignore it but the memory alone was making you feel hot all over.
Once again shaking your head you decide that you will definitely need to speak to Lara tomorrow, thank her for your shit date with Rob who needed to be locked up, you pitied the next women who he would try and hook up with.
So much for having a rebound and it being fun you scoff to yourself, because the idea of something good happening to you seemed impossible at this point.
You just needed to ignore everyone’s advice and get on with it yourself, meet someone at work at your favourite pizza place and most definitely ignore the emerging feelings you got whenever you thought about your roommate.
Before you can continue that line of thinking you finally recognise Adrian’s car pulling up in front of you, which makes your stomach flip as you suddenly feel self conscious awkwardly folding your arms against yourself protectively.
“Are you ok?” Adrian asks getting out of his car but you don’t answer him straight away, because you are too busy taking in his appearance, he looked so disheveled and wide eyed.
“What happened to your face?” You ask Adrian who stops in front of you, noticing his curly hair sticking up in a million directions and the dry blood under his nose.
“Oh shit, yeah!” Adrian rubs a hand under his nose looking caught out but he quickly explains “I was just fighting with Scott it got a little out of hand but you should see him!”
Not sounding the least bit convincing you chose to except Adrian’s answer regardless, due to the late hour and feeling very cold suddenly, you just wanted to go home and sleep this night off.
“Here.” Noticing that you were shivering Adrian unzips and hands you his burgundy coloured hoodie which you accept with a friendly nod.
Adrian stares as he watches you wrap his hoodie around yourself, because you looked so cute and sexy wearing it he has to quickly look away.
“Thanks for picking me up.” You tell Adrian with a genuine smile that lights up your whole face but you chase it with a small yawn.
“Let’s get back.” Adrian asks you in a soft voice making you glance down at your feet, embarrassed suddenly blaming being tired for your stupid reaction to his voice.
“Thanks again for-“
“It’s fine.” Cuts in Adrian with a nod but then a cheeky smirk appears on his face as he adds “But you do know that because of this you now owe me.”
The flirty tone in which he says this makes you grin back at him, as you can’t help but let your mind wander, imagining all the ways you could thank your roommate.
“I was joking!” Adrian cuts into your thoughts making you look up into his green eyes trying to not think about where your mind had just gone.
“Of course!” You smile back with a firm nod for luck.
Sitting in the passenger seat you watch as Adrian swiftly closes your door for you, the sentiment makes you smile sweetly to yourself.
Moments later he is sitting beside you in his seat giving you a quick grin, as he looks away to focus on something that was outside.
In the awkward silence that follows you pull down your skirt noticing you was showing off too much thigh, failing not to notice Adrian, who had glanced back to watch your every move.
Switching the radio on Adrian finally starts to drive heading back to the apartment the thought relaxing you, thankful for the night to be almost over.
“So, how did you end up out here again?” Adrian asks you as he adds before you could reply “ I thought the party was at this guys place.”
“No, it was an idiot friends place all the way out here on the outskirts of Evergreen the party was literally terrible.” You explain with a groan hoping this was a good enough answer for your roommate.
“How was the date?” Adrian asks sitting up a little in his seat as he quickly glances in your direction then looks back at the road in front of you.
“Non-eventful.” You declare sincerely adding a shrug of your right shoulder for good luck.
“So this guy did he treat you right?“ Adrian asks but doesn’t see you roll your eyes back at him.
“No, he was pretty much a dick but I ended up hooking up with him regardless.” You explain then instantly regret just how much you had shared with Adrian, who you notice is gripping his hands tighter on the steering wheel.
“Sorry for oversharing!” You laugh but it falls flat as Adrian continues to stare ahead, you notice his jaw flexing in response to your voice.
“You deserve someone who knows how to treat you right and that includes when you fuck as well.” Adrian states in a deep voice whilst you silently nod in definite agreement next to him.
“It was no big deal, it was just a rebound the next time I meet someone I will make sure they know what they are doing.” You explain with a laugh feeling a little more comfortable in Adrian’s presence maybe it was because it was just the two of you in the car.
“How will you make sure?” Adrian asks making you laugh at the smile he gives you in return.
“First of all they need to be able to kiss properly, if they can do that then the rest should come easy, is it too much to ask!” You groan in frustration not noticing Adrian look towards you from the noise you had just made causing the car to swerve left in the process.
“Eyes on the road Adrian!” You giggle noticing his flustered face as he rights the car, and he coughs trying to not look so caught up in the moment.
“Sorry I was distracted by-“
“So, enough about my lame date and severe lack of sex life how did you end up fighting with Scott?” You cut off Adrian not wanting to get too into all the details which would lead you back here into the car.
“Oh! We were just mucking around-“
“Will he come into work later today covered in bruises then or something?“ You laugh cutting Adrian off mid sentence making him chuckle back.
“He totally got it worse than me I’m really good in a fight.” Adrian states at the same time an image of your roommate shirtless enters your head, and you wish it to instantly go away but it’s there stuck in your mind, causing your cheeks to heat up in response.
“Your silence only proves the point.” Adrian deadpans making you look up then look away, as you hope he cannot see how hot your face has become.
You let Adrian continue to talk about his evening spent working at Fennels and then with Scott, trying to listen to his voice and not think about your roommate shirtless, it wasn’t doing much for the frustration you still felt from earlier.
You needed to calm down and listening to Adrian talk not really hearing him, but just knowing he was next to you was enough to relax you, and stop the warmth rising from low in your belly.
Finally home you unlock the front door and head inside absolutely knackered from both tonight, and ordering yourself not think about the guy who was stood next to you, right now.
“Do you want a drink?” Adrian asks then clocking your face adds “ I mean unless your fed up with my company-“
“Of course I’m not!” You begin feeling bad instantly as you continue “ I’m just super tired and need to shut my mind off for a bit.”
“I get it.” Adrian begins with a nod “I can stay up for hours thinking of-“
“Thanks again for tonight Adrian, your a good friend.” You state leaning up without thinking on tip toes as you proceed to briefly kiss him on the cheek.
“Oh! Sure, no problem!” Adrian begins rubbing the back of his neck with his right hand looking awkwardly at his feet as you assume you have embarrassed him.
“Night Adrian-“
“If you need me again for absolutely anything definitely call and I will be there to help!” Adrian states cutting you off firmly but then back tracks as he explains “I mean help picking you up from somewhere not the other thing although I’m pretty decent in the bedroom so I’ve been told.”
“No, that would just complicate things.” You say in a resigned voice which you hope Adrian didn’t hear as with a small nod you quickly head off to your bedroom.
Adrian watches as you leave wondering why the hell did things have to be so complicated, the very thought annoys him deeply as he heads for the fridge to quickly grab a soda.
Leaning his head down onto the kitchen counter Adrian groans to himself quietly, then eventually standing back up he tries to make sense of tonight, he couldn’t believe you fell for his obvious lie about his bloody nose.
But none of that mattered because it seemed you wouldn’t be seeing the idiot you’d been on a date with tonight ever again, the thought makes Adrian smile but only momentarily because the asshole had given you bad sex and he desperately wanted to fix that.
It truly sucked that you had a bad time because if it had been Adrian he would have focused purely on your needs, because there was nothing hotter than a women losing control in front of you, in the heat of the moment, from your hands or better yet your mouth.
Adrian starts to imagine you in his bed, sweet moans escaping your strawberry lips whilst he sat on his knees in front of you, head buried between your thighs…
Nope, he needed to stop thinking like that these thoughts were only going to lead to trouble because now he needed a cold shower, and to think about absolutely anything else right now.
Waking up you roll over in bed with a brief smile that falls off your face, when you notice a bunch of missed calls from Lara on your phone.
Clearly you had slept right through every single one despite finally falling asleep what had felt like hours later, all because you’d been thinking about your roommate.
You had been able to hear Adrian moving around the apartment, whilst part of you wanted to go out there and hang with him, but deep down you knew that would’ve only lead to trouble.
Couldn’t get Adrian out of your thoughts which you had tried to control, but instead you’d ended up thinking about how it had been way more fun hanging out with your roommate.
Which made you think, what if you’d been at that party with Adrian instead of the idiot Rob and gone to a random room together and…
Nope, you were not going there, it was wrong to think of him like that even though you imagine Adrian being a dominant presence in the bedroom which excites you regardless.
The thought practically warms you up all over, which makes you squeeze your thighs closer together, chasing the pulse you suddenly feel between your legs which fully wakes you up.
Grabbing your phone you chose to ignore your bodies response to thinking about Adrian, and listen to the voicemails from Lara focusing on being pissed instead, which was clearly doable.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t call you back, please call me, failing that meet me for lunch later today at one will message details I love you!” Lara laments and you feel yourself relenting fast knowing full well you would meet her later.
Listening out you don’t hear any noises in the apartment signalling that either Adrian wasn’t awake yet, or he’d already left for work , both thoughts leave you wondering if he had as bad a night as you but you doubted it.
Yet you do not see your roommate when you finally get up and dressed to face Lara, Adrian must be at work then you decide feeling sad briefly until you tell yourself off, heading out for lunch instead slamming the front door behind you.
“I’m so glad you’re here!” Lara practically screams when you find her already at the table in the only place you meet for lunch when it was important.
The Golden Tree called itself a bistro in the same way that Fennel Fields claimed to be traditional Italian food neither of which were true at all.
“Of course if it means I get to eat pancakes and your paying of course.” You deadpan with a small smile aimed at Lara.
“It’s the least I can do-“
“I can’t believe you set me up with that idiot Rob!” You state as soon as you sit down in the brown plastic seat opposite your friend.
“He was a good starter date-“
“He was an asshole!” You cut off Lara louder than you had intended but at this point you didn’t care.
“Really? He was kind-“
“Of a huge douchebag he was so boring I even suffered bad sex, just to stop him from talking about himself but even that made it worse.” You snap then groan at the memory of pretty much the worst hook up you had ever encountered.
“It was that bad-“
“Absolutely awful.” You sigh hanging your head but looking up when you feel Lara place her hand under your chin.
“I’m sorry.” Begins Lara gently as she then smiles and adds “ The next time will be better for-“
“If even half the guys out there are like Rob I’m giving up now!” You retort making Lara laugh despite it not even being a joke.
After ordering food and of course cocktails because you needed a strong drink, to help you through the rest of today and back into your own bed.
Lara unlike you of course had a very good night hence her phone being on silent, whilst you recapped yours in hideous technicolour for her whilst she just sat opposite you with a shocked look on her face.
That is until you reach the climax of your story, mentioning who came and picked you up earlier this morning, when your supposed friend had been getting busy.
“So Adrian rescued you?” Lara says with glee whilst you roll your eyes but then nod because he did technically rescue you.
Looking down at your loaded pancakes you recall when Adrian had made you breakfast the soft waffles, tasting far more superior to what you was currently trying to eat, the thought makes you smile stupidly to yourself.
“I hope you made it up to the guy?” Questions Lara with a wide smirk she doesn’t even fail to hide as she states “It seems you have him wrapped around your little finger.”
“I do not!“ You snap feeling your cheeks going red at the very idea which you notice Lara trying to ignore but it only lasts for so long.
“So who will you be going out with next then?” Lara asks with an encouraging smile which you chose to accept.
“I will pick the next guy, I think I kind of need to see them beforehand-“
“Rob was hot though!” Cuts off Lara holding her hands up as if to emphasise her point.
“Yeah, but he was completely shit at sex!” You snap far louder then you had wanted, again, causing people to look over and Lara to start giggling.
“I wonder if Adrian-“
“We are just friends shut up about him already!”
“Well if only you had seen your face when you told me he had picked you up, you seem to be over Rob pretty quick actually.” Lara nods informatively.
“I won’t ruin the arrangement-“
“Fine don’t admit your feelings not today, but someday real soon I will say I told you so when you do finally own up to them feels you’re trying to hide !”
“Stop creating drama and tension when it doesn’t exist!” You retort in an annoyed voice.
This makes Lara’s eyes widen as she states back “You really need to listen to yourself sometimes.”
“I’m telling you I can do this, I will meet someone but it most definitely won’t be my roommate.” You shake her head firmly briefly wondering who you were trying to kid but you chose to ignore that thought alongside a whole more that follow.
Adrian watches as Scott slams the front door closed with his left foot, almost dropping the two large pizzas he was holding with both hands, looking back at him happily when he succeeded keeping them in place.
“I didn’t drop them!” Scott cheers making Adrian slowly nod and look away from his friend and back at the TV.
“Living the dream dude.” Adrian sighs stretching out his arms over the back of the couch completely bored out of his mind.
“What the hell is wrong with you tonight?” Scott asks placing the pizza boxes onto the coffee table in front of him with a heavy thud.
“Nothing’s wrong-“ Adrian stops talking when he hears the front door open seeing you in the doorway, looking like an actual babe in your work uniform making him move his arms and sit up a little straighter on the couch.
“Hey, guys.” You nod your head at Scott who you had spent all of this morning with, and briefly smile at Adrian who you hadn’t seen properly for a couple of days.
Today had been another dull Wednesday in a long line of boring days that all just kind of roll into the next, unless you get to see Adrian that’s what you have actually started to look forward to, but you wouldn’t admit that to a soul not even yourself if truth be told.
“Oh I get it now!” Scott laughs making you look away from Adrian to his friend who was grinning at you like an idiot.
Nodding with an exaggerated wide eyed look you head to the bathroom to grab a quick shower, detouring quickly into your room to grab some clothes because you didn’t want to be getting involved with whatever Scott was trying to figure out.
Of course thoughts of your roommate enter your mind whilst in the shower but you chose to ignore them, or at the very least you really try but there he is stuck in your head once again.
Deciding that you did need a nudge in the right direction after not even trying to meet someone yet you send an SOS message to Lara once you are safely back in your room.
“I saw how you suddenly perked up when Y/N arrived home from work.” Scott informs Adrian with a smug grin asking as a follow up “ Is that the reason why you’ve been in such a shitty mood?”
“I-I didn’t and I’m not in a shitty mood but that could soon change.” Adrian redirects it back at Scott who scoffs in return at his week attempt at sarcasm.
Looking down at your phone you are not surprised to see Lara calling you, and despite feeling super hungry, you decide to stay in your room and answer the call instead.
“What do you mean meet a guy?” Lara questions instead of saying hello as she continues “ Your roommate practically saved you the least you owe him is a blowjob.”
“Hey, that will never happen!” You groan back in annoyance because you really hated Lara sometimes “Also, that will never happen get over it.”
“You are just too easy to wind up-“
“Either way I truly do need a night out I might actually get lucky but above all else I just need to think of something other than work.” You declare easily because it was the actual truth, for once.
“And Adrian won’t help-“
Ending the call on Lara makes you smile for a few moments, until she sends you a whole message dedicated to a heap of angry emoji’s, but hearing shouting outside your door makes you look up from your phone.
Not in the mood to cause any further tension between you and Adrian, you decided to stay in your room instead or hope at least that they would go out soon, and leave you alone for a while.
You were pretty sure you weren’t complicating things by avoiding your roommate, even though you sometimes thought you imagined the longing you felt when thinking about Adrian, blaming your lack of male attention overall for these feelings and nothing else.
Hugging yourself in your oversized hoodies the one you could live in permanently given a chance, you try to kill time by checking your phone and not think about how hungry you was, which was ridiculous.
This was your apartment even though you kind of wanted to just stay here on your bed, but you did in fact need to leave your room, you were aimlessly scrolling on social media whilst getting hangry which wasn’t a good look.
Why was you so worried to go out there? Of course you knew exactly why but Scott being there would stop you from doing something stupid, wouldn’t it?
Adrian hears Scott chuckle to himself because as soon as your bedroom door opens, his head jerks up to glance your way like always, then rewards his friend with a withering look which only makes him laugh harder.
Not making eye contact with anyone you head straight over to the kitchen intent on your mission to grab a snack, then rush back to your room but there was a problem you couldn’t find your food anywhere.
You also don’t notice Scott throwing some popcorn at Adrian, then nodding in your direction as both guys watch as you pull down your hoodie, to cover your shorts after reaching up to try and grab something.
“Cut it out.” Adrian mutters with a scowl aimed at Scott who was too busy wiggling his eyebrows, suggestively to notice the pain he was causing his oldest friend.
Turning back round you notice both Adrian and Scott pulling weird faces at each other, but then you notice what Scott was eating it was your bag of popcorn and pretzels, which instantly annoys you.
“Hey! That’s my food.” You tell Scott who pauses from grinning at Adrian to look at you whilst pulling an awkward face.
“Oh my bad I was just-“
“We still have some pizza left if you want a slice?” Adrian asks pointing to the boxes on the coffee table.
“Sure.” You nod taking a seat next to Adrian on the couch feeling it move as he sat up a little straighter, making Scott scoff in the background which you both choose to ignore.
Leaning forward you grab a slice of pizza from the box then holding your hand underneath you take a huge bite, not caring how you looked right this second even when you catch Adrian staring at you whilst you ate.
“Er, you have sauce on-“ Adrian begins slowly then stops when you look down to see a thick blob of pizza sauce on your thumb.
“Oops.” You giggle finishing the last of your pizza then bringing your hand to your mouth you proceed to suck on your thumb, the motion makes Adrian’s mouth open and close as he quickly looks away.
Adrian coughs into his hand because that had been the hottest thing he had seen in ages, watching your lips suck at the tip of your thumb, fuck he needed to get over whatever this was and fast.
“So, do you have like a place to go to Scott or do you live here now?” You joke not noticing the effect you had just had on Adrian but focusing on his friend instead.
“Oh, do you two want to be left alone?” Scott replies with a wide grin plastered across his face which hadn’t been the reply you’d expected.
“Of course not I-“
“Ha, ha so funny.” Adrian cuts you off wanting to end this before Scott decided to tease the pair of you anymore which was becoming very annoying.
Before he could continue your phone begins to ping so you sit back on the couch trying not to notice how much room Adrian took up, pulling your phone from your hoodie pocket to see Lara had messaged you a bunch of times.
You read about how excited for a night out she is vowing to help you meet someone, which makes you smile because you needed all the help you could get right now.
Looking up you notice Adrian staring which makes you uneasy as you ask him “Do I have something on my face?”
“N-no you don’t! I wasn’t staring I was just-“
“It’s fine Adrian.” You nod with an awkward smile not sure what he had been looking at but try not to overthink it.
Of course you needed all the help you get meeting someone new and you knew Lara had your back, despite all the teasing, plus you hadn’t heard from your ex since the flowers had he finally got the hint?
You’re mind wanders as you wonder what would happen if your ex turned up here right now, to see you sitting here with Adrian and Scott, but you knew he wasn’t stupid enough to try something, you hoped.
Adrian noticed you deep in thought unable to look away from your soft lips, making him wonder not for the first time how they tasted, and more importantly how they would looked around his-
“Time to watch a movie!” Announces Scott cutting into Adrian’s thoughts making him hitch his breath, then follow it with another cough noticing the weird look his friend gives him.
“Sure.” Adrian nods after a beat or two longer than necessary hoping no one had noticed his brief lapse into a fantasy, that he will have to revisit much later when alone in his room, his right hand itching at the thought.
“Do you want to join us Y/N?” Scott asks innocently enough but you notice the look Adrian gives his friend it kind of makes you want to openly swoon but you manage to stop yourself, thankfully.
“Is that ok?” You ask almost wanting to hear Adrian say yes but he sits quietly whilst Scott nods in the affirmative a smile playing on his thin lips.
Moving a little on the couch you involuntarily find yourself yawning, which you try to hide but it’s no good Adrian has noticed, as he treats you to a smile all for you.
“Are we keeping you awake? You don’t have to watch-“
“You’re not one of those women who are scared of horror films are you?” Scott asks cutting off Adrian which you welcome because you suddenly didn’t want him to try and get rid of you.
“No, I like horror I’m not scared of blood or anything.” You nod with a smile aiming it back at Adrian but he is sitting forward and doesn’t notice.
“Any parts that you finds too scary you can always grab onto Adrian’s-“
“It’s fine.” You state through gritted teeth feeling your cheeks go red as you try to stop them but it’s no good, glancing at Adrian who grins back half amused by his idiot friend.
“I don’t mind if you do.” Adrian informs you with a confident smile that makes you freeze because earlier he wouldn’t even look you in the face, now he was fucking winking at you.
“I think I-“
“Enough lame flirting you two let’s watch the film.” Cuts in Scott firmly as he moves to switch off the lights which plunge then into darkness besides the kitchen light which is left on.
The film is the classic “Nightmare on Elm Street” which you settle into easily trying not to think about Adrian next to you, resisting the unmistakable urge to lean closer to him.
Instead you find yourself laughing along with comments both Adrian and Scott make during the film, noticing your roommate watching you but he quickly looks down at his hands when you find yourself grinning back.
Both of you lit up by the TV you can feel yourself gravitating closer towards Adrian on the couch blaming the old cushions, but of course deep down you knew better your body clearly had a mind of its own.
His features illuminated by the soft light from the screen you stare at his side profile, paying close attention to his sharp jaw until he notices you looking, yet again.
Pretending to yawn quickly to save face only makes Adrian grin then ask you innocently “Are we still boring you?”
“I’m just a little tired.” You nod back blaming lack of sleep on the way you were acting which wasn’t the least bit true the thought makes you blush, hoping that Adrian doesn’t notice how you’ve been clearly caught out.
Sometime around the time where Johnny Depp’s character died pretty spectacularly you start to feel your eyes getting heavy, despite your body feeling wide awake seeing how you had somehow got very close to Adrian on the couch.
Currently your shorts had ridden up your thighs with your left leg rubbing up against Adrian’s soft dark green sweatpants which was very distracting, your shoulders briefly brushing against his which makes you feel like you were on fire.
Feeling like an idiot you decide to quickly change positions tucking your legs under yourself, whilst you pull down the long sleeves of your hoodie over your hands, trying to resist sleep but in the end sleep wins.
“Dude.” Adrian hisses at Scott hoping not to wake you when he feels your head dropping onto his right shoulder, smelling your shampoo when he moves his head trying to look down at you.
Of course Scott doesn’t hear him so Adrian decides to sit very still instead hoping not to wake you, trying so hard to ignore how tense his body had suddenly become, whilst resisting the overwhelming urge to place his arm around you.
You stir awake when you feel someone lightly shaking your right shoulder, followed by loud laughing that makes you snap your eyes open at pretty much the same time, the lights come back on.
You are met with a chest looking up to see you had actually fallen asleep on Adrian, who offers you a cute smile but you panic and quickly sit up, hoping that this was some kind of bad dream.
But it’s real because you looks to see Scott smirking from you to Adrian, who is giving his friend a look he clearly cannot read or he is just purposefully being a pain in the ass, as always.
“Dude stop it.” Adrian tells Scott in a deep voice that you file away in your mind for later because right now Scott wasn’t listening, as he just continues to wiggle his eyebrows suggestively at the pair of you.
“I better go to bed.” You find yourself saying as you automatically stand up from the couch mumbling an apology of sorts to Adrian, whilst you keep your eyes firmly on your feet as you somehow make your way blindly back to your bedroom.
“That was a cute moment.” Scott begins breaking the silenced and Adrian’s thoughts as he looks away from your bedroom door to give him a look.
“I mean I could hardly push her off me she had looked so comfortable-“
“Here’s hoping you didn’t get a boner whilst your roommate was asleep maybe I should have left that could’ve been your chance right there!” Scott declares with glee all over his face which instantly makes Adrian angry.
Hearing voices outside of your room you pull your hoodie up over your head and after chucking it down on the floor, collapsing onto your bed whilst wishing that you could hide under the sheets, a regular occurrence whenever Adrian was around it seemed.
A smile plays across your face as you briefly recall how good Adrian had smelled, and how firm his chest had felt but you already knew he had muscles, the thought makes your pussy muscles clench around nothing, this was really becoming a problem.
“All I’m saying is think about what could’ve happened if I wasn’t here?” Scott begins with a smug grin then waiting a few moments adds “Close together on the couch, hands touch then interlock and them bam!“
Getting up from the couch seconds later Adrian balls his right fist and brings it up to punch Scott pretty hard in the shoulder, which causes him to curse and attempt to fight back but that only annoys Adrian further.
“That won’t happen, I can’t-“
“You can’t close that’s why! Ow fuck!“ Scott cries as Adrian hits him again only this time in the face.
“I can close it’s just-“
“Keep telling your right hand that!” Laughs Scott loudly causing Adrian to curse and slump back onto the couch maybe Scott did have a point there.
Face down in bed your mind betrays you with thoughts of Adrian his cute smile, those ridiculous dimples and how much you had enjoyed being that close to him, it was a million times better than hooking up with Rob having him that near you.
You truly missed being that close to someone, physical contact that both parties were willing and ready to accept you had felt safe, and of course a little turned on at the same time.
Groaning softly to yourself you decide that the sooner you went out and met someone, the sooner you would stop inadvertently trying to get closer to Adrian, before you did something else embarrassing.
But right this second you wasn’t so sure if you even regret it if you did…get too close, but Adrian hadn’t given you any signs right?
Finally chucking out Scott who was making rude gestures with his right hand Adrian knew he was about to put his own to work, because he felt so on edge right now plus just thinking about you was making his cock rise to a semi, damn he knew what he needed to do but it was never enough…because he needed you.

Next month flew by quickly and before you knew it Thanksgiving was around the corner. It was just a long weekend but Jensen asked you to fly home with him for the holiday. You were happy to go with him and see his family again. You had talked to Mama a few times the past month but being able to see her would be great. Jensen's leg had healed quickly and throughout the month you'd seen a lot of each other. He took you out on more dates and got to know each other even more. You fell more and more in love with him each day. You saw less of Gen because she was either with Jared or you were with Jensen but they were also going to Texas for the holiday so you'd have time to see them. You were surprised that Jared had finally told Gen he loved her and she of course said it back.  Everything was going so well and you loved the bubble this past month had put you in. You have been doing a lot more studying as applications to medical school were coming due but James had been a great resource and had even written a couple reference letters for you. You applied to many schools but your first choice was Texas because you had quickly grown to love the state. Jensen was very supportive of you and did whatever he could to help out. He'd even quiz you during some of your lunch dates on set. You wanted to stay up-to-date with your knowledge and information and you had hoped to take the MCAT one more time before today in final applications. You would take the test Saturday and go down to Texas on Tuesday.
      Finally the test came and you were so nervous but Jensen kept calming you down and reassuring you that you were going to do great. At least you would get it over with so you could enjoy the holiday. The test was long and took all day and by the end you were exhausted. He saw you as soon as it was over. He promised to take you out to your favorite diner as a celebratory dinner. You went home and got changed and walked out the door and met him at the diner.
 "I'm so proud of you sweetheart. I know you did great, you worked so hard for this. Burgers on me tonight!"
 "You're so kind Jay, thank you for always believing in me and encouraging me."
 "I love to do it, I'm your biggest fan.  Besides I don't want any other doctor to patch me up the next life or death situation I get myself into"
 "Don't you dare get into another accident. I don't think I could handle it. But I don't mind playing doctor after hours". You winked at him.
 "Well I don't mind playing patient as long as you take real good care of me"
 "Oh I plan to. But first I'm going to enjoy my hamburger and fries." He chuckled and focused on his own plate.  After dinner you both went home and put in a movie. You were exhausted so you weren't up for doing too much and after the movie he spent the night.  He had come around a lot the past month and you liked this new arrangement. You had gotten so used to playing house with him that you couldn't imagine your life any other way.
      Tuesday came quickly and you and him had decided to take a different plane than Jared and Gen so he could get there sooner. He missed his parents and you had to admit you did too. Mama would ask about updates on your applications and she was excited about the fact that you would be moving to Texas. He told her that you hadn't gone accepted yet to which she just brushed off and said that you would. You liked how confident she was about the whole situation. You also like the idea of being closer to her. You weren't really close to your family so they felt more like parents to you than your own did. When you arrived she greeted you with arms wide open. She hugged you first to which Jensen pretended he was hurt by.
 "My own mother loves you more than she loves me"
 "That's not true but I don't know who missed her more, me or you!" They both laughed at that one but no one could give an honest answer.
 She had made her famous fried chicken for dinner and everyone stayed up late talking, laughing and drinking. Everyone was excited about the upcoming holiday and spending time with everybody. Around 1 a.m. everyone decided to go to bed and you quickly fell asleep.
      The next morning you woke up to the smell of coffee.  Jensen was still asleep and you tried to not wake him up when you got out of bed.  You wanted the coffee but staring at the man beside made it hard to leave.  However, you found some fuzzy socks and decided to go downstairs.  You walked into the kitchen and grabbed a mug full of the steamy joe and then you pushed open the screen door and joined Mama on the back porch.
 “Good morning, dear”  She greeted you.
 “Hi Mama, how did you sleep?”  You asked once you sat in the opposite wicker chair.
 “I slept very well.  All my babies are home and that includes you”  She gave you a warm smile.  You loved her like your own mother and you were so thankful that you could be part of this family.
 “You are too sweet”  You took a sip from your mug.
 “I couldn’t help but think though”  She paused, taking a sip from her own mug.
 “About what?”  You looked at her.  She continued to stare off into the wide open back yard.
 “You and my son seem like you are getting very serious.  Any thoughts on next steps?  I know you two love each other, that is obvious, but have you thought about what you want?”  Her question caught you off guard.  You didn’t know what to expect from an early morning chat but this wasn’t it.
 “Well, Jensen and I did tell each other that we loved each other.  I care for him deeply but we haven’t really talked about future plans..”  You trailed off.  You loved him and you didn’t see your life without him in it.  He drunkenly confessed to wanting to marry you but you never talked about it.
 “I see.  But have YOU thought about what you want?”  She continued.
 “What do you mean?”  You looked at her quizzically.
 “What I mean is have you thought about the future that you want? Do you want to get married to Jensen?  Do you see yourself with him for a long time?”
 “I do”  You said without hesitation.
“Good.  I would be happy to have you marry my son”  She gave you a smile but you knew there was something else on her mind.
 “What is it?”  You asked.
 “Don’t get me wrong, I am extremely happy for the both of you but it doesn’t seem like either of you have really thought it out.  If you have, correct me but you applied to different schools.  Have you thought about how that will affect your relationship once you move?  Do you want to do long distance?”  She said it carefully and from a place of love but it still hurt.  You knew that you needed to think about and talk about it but you were so happy with your bubble that you didn’t want to do anything to pop it.  The truth was that you would be hearing back from schools in the next few months.  Were you prepared for the answers?  What if you never got accepted?  Or worse, what if you got accepted and you had to move away?
      Your silence was Mama’s cue.
“I don’t mean to pry, love, but I just want both of you to think about your futures.  I want the best for both of you, whatever you decide to do”  With that she stood up, kissed your head and went inside.  She left you with a lot to think about.
     Breakfast went smoothly and though you were able to enjoy it your conversation earlier still was eating away at you.
 “Penny for your thoughts?”  Jensen pulled you from your mind.
 “I’m sorry, I was just thinking about something I was talking to your mom about”  You said walking from the bathroom having finished getting ready for the day.  Everyone was in their pajamas for breakfast and you liked it.  It felt like home.  You had even met Jensen’s brother Josh.  He was really nice but he came home even less than Jensen did.
 “Uh oh, what did she say?”  He asked half teasing.  You sat on the bed and nudged him.
 “She just asked me what I saw for our future.”  You looked at him and he had a serious expression on his face.
 “And what do you see in our future?”  He asked.
 “I see us.  Together.  Happy.  That’s what I want.  She asked if we wanted to get married or what we had planned for when I go to medical school.”  You stared intently into his beautiful green eyes trying to discover what he was thinking.  He didn’t respond right away and it made you start to wonder if he hadn’t thought about it at all.
“Do you want to get married?”  He looked back at you with almost a look of timidity.  You smiled and grabbed his hand.
 “I do.  One day.  I don’t know when, I don’t have a timeline figured out yet but I do know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you.  You’re it for me, Ackles.”  He let out a sigh of relief and softly held your cheek.
 “I want to marry you too.  I’ve wanted to for a while now.  But I don’t think we are ready for that yet.  But it’s good to know that you are dumb enough to want me”  He let out a sigh/chuckle.  You laughed too.
 “More like the other way around, Jay.  I don’t know why you would want a girl like me but I am glad you do.”
 “There is so much to love about you sweetheart.  You are kind, compassionate, caring, giving, patient, loving, and so many more things.  Not to mention you’re fucking gorgeous”  You were blushing but he continued to hold your gaze.  You knew he was being serious.  He leaned in and kissed you like he was trying to prove his feelings.  If you didn’t believe the kiss, you believed the further proof he showed you.  You were just thankful that everyone was out getting last minute stuff for Thanksgiving.  Though you loved kissing Jensen, knowing you would never be able to get enough of those amazing lips you still couldn’t help but think of the part of the conversation you didn’t get to.  It was nice to stay in the bubble and though he said you would cross that bridge when you got to it, you couldn’t help but want to know what would happen once you got accepted somewhere.
     Thanksgiving was a good day.  Family, laughs, and too much turkey and pie.  The way God intended.  You met up with Jared and Gen later that day and had a much needed friends time.  Filming had made the three very busy the month before the holiday.  You all went Black Friday shopping but it was short lived with the overwhelming crowds.  You were able to blend in so no one recognized the boys as they were too busy fighting over who knows what.  You ended up having lunch at the local restaurant: burgers and milkshakes.  Not as good as the diner in Vancouver but a really close second.
 “How has it been going?”  Gen asked you while the boys were in the middle of their conversation.  She was sitting by you in the booth so it was easier to talk.
 “Really good. I met Josh and he is the sweetest.  Mackenzie toned it down but I like that she has spunk.  I had a conversation with Mama and I can’t shake it”  She frowned while you took a sip from your milkshake.
 “What did she say?”
 “Nothing bad, it came from a place of love but she asked what Jensen and I wanted to do with our future.”
 “And what do you want to do?”  She asked.
 “We talked and we want to get married.  Not anytime soon so don’t get too excited”  You said when you saw her eyes widen.
 “So what is the problem?  You love each other and you don’t want to break up.  What else is there?”
 “I could hear back from schools in the next month or more.  I could be halfway across the country.  I applied to both Canadian and American schools.  The problem is that we haven’t talked about what to do if I go somewhere far away.  That scares me.”  Gen gave you a look of empathy and grabbed your arm.
 “I know that it is hard and you have every right to be a little uncertain about the future.  But you two need to talk about it.  Are you willing to do long distance?  It does make the heart grow fonder.”
 “I don’t want to break up so I want to try it if I have to. I don’t think I could bear not being with him.”
 “There you go.  You just need to have an honest conversation and if you really love each other you will end up together.   You and Jensen have a real love that most people dream about.  I know it will all work out”  She gave you an encouraging smile.  You wanted to talk more but the boys finished their conversation and you knew your moment was over.

jasya + "i should hate you for this"?
Always the hate/enemies to lovers prompts with these two…
„I cannot fucking believe this!“, Jasmine’s hands were thrown over here head in frustration, roughly ran through her hair, leaving the copper waves one mess of a tangle, before her fists slammed down onto the kitchen counter with a loud thump. „You lied to Bosco! You lied to Bosco about her goddamn major! She’s gonna be so stressed now, they literally rushed to get to Camden’s place, a complete mess! And the project she’s stressing about isn’t even real! Camden will be so confused, if she’s even at home, and Bosco will be so embarrassed! Daya, what the fuck were you thinking?“ With each word, Jasmine’s voice had increased in volume and pace. Her green eyes flared with fury as she tilted her head upwards to stare her roommate right in the eye. God, she hated the height difference between them so much. Now, she needed a moment to catch her breath, letting out a sigh. „Is this some stupid prank? Because Bosco doesn’t deserve to be tormented by your weird mood swings …“
At that, Daya snapped right back at her. „My weird mood swings?“ Her brows furrowed together, forming a deep wrinkle between them and she supported her body with her arms as she leaned over the counter, face hovering right in front of Jasmine’s. „Which one of us made sure to tell everyone oh how happy she was single, even though I never fucking asked, and then, out of nowhere you suddenly go out with some random Philosophy major? You two barely ever fucking talked, it makes no sense! But I have mood swings? Me, the person who spends every fucking evening with you? Do you feel like that every time we hang out? Are you annoyed with me and that’s why you’re going out with Bosco all of a sudden?“
She craned her neck, their noses only mere inches apart. Daya could swear the air was cracking with electricity. „Listen, I like you, okay? I’ve liked you since we moved into this shithole of an apartment, do you hear me? But instead of ever even considering me, you have to rub in my face how happy you are on your own? Good for you, but then why Bosco? I don’t fucking understand where this came from. I don’t fucking get you, Jas! And I hate that I still want you, even after this shit you pulled!“ Her eyes fell shut, breath hollow, „Listen, I’m sorry I sabotaged your date. It just fucking hurts to just stand by, okay?“
Jasmine’s heart pounded so loud, she was convinced Daya had to hear it. Her chest had swollen up, a huge, heavy lump stuck in her throat. When she opened her mouth, the words came out more as a breath than anything else. „I should hate you for this.“
Daya’s eyes shot back up, meeting the deep green pools of Jasmine’s. Her gaze was a lot softer than she had anticipated. Were those tears? Jasmine swallowed heavily. „Do you know how long I’ve waited for you to just make a move? To just ask me out? Why do you think I made sure to remind you I’m single …“ Her eyes fluttered shut for a moment. „I only agreed to go out with Bosco because I gave up hope that you’d ever want to.“
Before she realized what was happening, Daya had shot forwards, her lips connecting with Jasmine’s in a rough, fiery kiss.
