[***NOTE: Leo's design here is no longer accurate, link to the updated version.]
I know there are already a lot of "the brothers are separated at a young age and raised by different people" AUs floating around, so this isn't especially original, but- I've yet to see one with this particular parent-child arrangement, so...
Here’s some rough concept art for what I’m calling the “Grown Apart AU”  Which I've also been affectionately referring to as the "Everyone's a Disney Protagonist" AU for quite some time... you'll see why.
Here’s the gist: Basically, Splinter is only able to save Mikey and Leo from the lab explosion - Raph is immediately picked up by Huginn and Muninn and handed back over to Draxum; Donnie is lost mid-escape and later found by Big Mama's goons, who show up for Lou but bring Don back with them instead when Lou is nowhere to be found.
Details of each turtles’ upbringings (as well as how/when they meet April) below the cut:
RAPH
Draxum raised Raph to be everything he originally intended the turtles to be: a ruthless, obedient super soldier whose sole purpose in life is to protect the Yokai by eliminating the human threat. Draxum taught him to hate humankind and trained him up to be virtually undefeatable in battle. However...because Draxum isn't the most attentive parent, most of the caretaking for Raph was actually provided by Huginn and Muninn. And the two little well-meaning gargoyles - mostly unintentionally and outside of their master's knowledge - wound up nurturing a much softer and friendlier side to their supposedly bloodthirsty warrior-in-the-making. As a result, Raph has essentially been living a double-life under Draxum’s ownership; playing the part of a perfect soldier for his father/general, who he's determined not to disappoint, and only feeling free to be himself when he's alone (or with H&M.)
Raph has always known that there were supposed to be other mutants like himself but grew up believing that he's the only one who survived the experiment, making him the only one left in existence (until Draxum’s oozesquitos create more, that is). Even though he had H&M to keep him company, being an only child could still be pretty lonely sometimes, so Raph would often imagine what having brothers - other mutants like himself that he could have grown up alongside - would have been like.
Raph is the only one of the turtles that knows his human DNA comes from Lou Jitsu - just like Draxum, though, he has no idea that Splinter is actually Lou Jitsu.
DONNIE
Donnie had a posh and cushy upbringing in Big Mama's hotel - she raised him as her own son(unaware that he’s actually Lou’s)/apprentice and uses his technological talents to aid her multiple businesses: he supplies new weapons and battlegrounds for the Battle Nexus, as well as automated assistants and security for her hotel, and even pitches in with her more off-the-record dealings that last one being without Donnie’s knowledge. Big Mama's kept him pretty much wrapped around her little finger; praising him for his intelligence and usefulness whenever he does a good job or makes her nice things. When he hasn’t, however, she’s a less-than-affectionate mother. Donnie will do absolutely anything it takes to impress and earn approval from her.
Donnie is largely sheltered and knows very little about the world outside of the hotel - especially the human world, about which most of his knowledge comes from what he finds on the internet. He doesn't even know that he's a mutant, believing himself to be just some uncommon type of yokai, since that's all he knows. He’s not allowed to fraternize freely with the hotel guests and has a somewhat contentious relationship with Big Mama’s assistant, whom he’s always viewed as competition for her affection. The closest thing he's had to a friend is S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N, whom Donnie built to have someone to talk to (besides Big Mama's boring, no-nonsense henchmen).
Don finally met April when he was about 11 yrs old; he secretly sent one of his spy bots out to explore the human city and she intercepted it. The two have been best friends and stayed in-touch with each other online ever since - April being unaware that Donnie isn't human.
Donnie knows of Lou Jitsu purely because he was Big Mama’s favorite champion in the history of the Battle Nexus - he idolizes him, having watched recordings of many of his fights, and dreams of one day fighting in the Battle Nexus himself (if Big Mama would allow that).
Leo & Mikey
Leo and Mikey were still rescued by Lou/Splinter and brought up in the NY sewers. Splinter felt extremely guilty for not managing to save the other two baby turtles and, for the first few years following the incident, spent much of his time searching for them. Once Leo was old enough, Splinter would start leaving him and Mikey in the Lair while he searched. He eventually gave up his search, presuming them both dead or lost for good, and resigned to keeping the remaining two as safe as possible - teaching them how to defend themselves and warning them never to leave the sewers unless he was with them.
Leo and Mikey were inseparable as kids - they would do everything together, refusing to even sleep in separate rooms until they were too big to fit in one bed anymore. Leo took his job as Mikey's big brother very seriously and always tried his best to protect him, even when they were simply playing games with each other. As they got older, though, the two brothers began to drift apart - Leo started to feel a little smothered; craving more freedom to do what he wanted when he wanted, without the older sibling responsibilities hanging over him 24/7. And Mikey started feeling like he couldn't go/do anything without his brother's judgement or approval, resenting the idea that he needed constant protection.
Finally, when he was about 13, Leo secretly snuck out of the lair one night to check out the city by himself and get a little taste of independence. After that one trip, it quickly became a habit and he soon began making regular “secret” trips into the city.
Somewhere along the way, his innocent quests for freedom and fun grew into opportunities to stir up some trouble - Leo eventually met and became involved with a group of yokai teens with whom he would pull pranks and play jokes on the city's human occupants (harmless ones...usually. They just enjoy causing a little mischief.)
Mikey, having to figure out other ways to keep himself occupied since his brother is usually by himself or busy with his new friends, has picked up a multitude of different skills and hobbies, trying absolutely everything he can get his hands on. His main hobby is spray-painting, which he uses to spruce any wall he can find with his own personal touch. By the time he's 13, much of underground New York has been covered by his handiwork.  Mikey eventually finds out about Leo’s secret outings and follows him when he leaves one night - the two end up meeting April, who's never seen mutants before (having only talked to Donnie online and not seen his face) and promptly freaks out before realizing they're not dangerous. The three soon become friends, too, and April starts making plans to introduce the boys to Donnie - knowing he could use more friends besides S.H.E.L.L.D.O.N. and herself.
The four brothers' fates finally collide with one another when an escapee from Draxum's lab - Mayhem - shows up out of the blue and catapults Mikey and Leo to the Hidden City, where they have an unexpected reunion with their eldest brother.

it's so sweet knowing that you love me (though we don't need to say it to each other)
Tumblr media
Pairing(s): Wanda Maximoff x fem!reader
Summary: You were born completely deaf, unable to fully learn how to read lips and constantly finding your hearing aids uncomfortable. On your venture for coffee, you find yourself overwhelmed (to the point of escape) when you are being spoken to by a (very pretty) woman who you cannot understand. Confusion and chaos arise on both ends. You return that same week, ready for the hateful confrontation that might take place. Fortunately, that "hateful" confrontation does not happen.
Warnings: none (a bit of angst, but then it's all fluff)
Word Count: 2.1k
Author's Note: this little collection of one-shots is still one of my favorite things to think about occasionally... perhaps i will consider making a third part if you give me some of your ideas on what the third part should consist of...

...
From an early age, you realized that you were different from other people. When you would go to various places with your parents, random strangers always tried to talk to you. You couldn’t hear them, of course, considering the fact that you were born entirely deaf; adults and children alike never seem to understand that, though, and continued their quests of trying to get you to talk with your mouth rather than your hands.
Due to your innate inability to hear, you grew up learning sign language as your primary language. It wasn’t until you were four years old when you were lost in the supermarket, frantically trying to find your parents, that you realized the majority of people do not comprehend your language. Growing up in upstate New York, there weren’t exactly many people like you. There were not many people that felt ostracized by their community for something beyond their control, nor were there many individuals jumping at the opportunity to make accommodations for situations like yours. Thus, the most you were able to do in terms of communication was writing and reading in English and ‘speaking’ in sign language. Unlike some other people who were deaf, you were never able to learn how to read others’ lips, which frustrated you to no end.
And, honestly? It sucked. It was a lonely experience, and you spent many nights of your childhood (and adulthood) crying to your parents about it. It broke their hearts seeing their child experiencing such a cumbersome set of emotions and experiences that most do not even witness in a lifetime, and you knew they carried a pang of guilt about it all. You wish they didn’t, though, because you know it’s not their fault and that they have been trying their best to help you thrive despite your challenges.
It wasn’t all bad, darkness, and negativity. In fact, there are many moments where you found your deafness as a sort of power or unique ability (instead of an inability). It allowed you to sense things differently. Your favorite way to decompress was feeling certain textures, especially the yarn blanket your mother made years ago, and putting on loud music so the vibrations would flow through the medium of the speakers and into your body via your fingers or your feet. Something about it all was therapeutic.
You received a pair of hearing aids as a child, but you did not necessarily prefer them. In circumstances where there were a lot of people in a given room, the sensations would become quite painful and confusing for your brain to untangle and compute all at once. Ergo, you only really use them on the occasion where you know prior that there were gonna be few people and low amounts of background noise, like when you are working one-on-one with a client.
Given that you were going to the local coffee place, you elected to leave hearing aids at home. You use your phone to place a mobile order, effectively removing the barrier of needing to talk to an employee to order. You walked into the shop and began your path towards the pick-up area. Reaching and sorting through the other orders, you eventually come to the realization that yours is not there. You figured that the staff was simply behind on crafting the drinks, so you wait for a few minutes.
As you anxiously played with your fingers, one of the employees approaches you. She was slightly taller than you, but she was also undeniably beautiful. Her long auburn hair was tied back, held in place by a mere tie. You caught a brief glance of her eyes, quickly noticing how green they were. In the presence of such a pretty lady, your anxiety began to rise. She gave a shy smile and began moving her lips to form words. Due to your overly anxious state and inability to read her lips, you rapidly became overwhelmed. You look behind her to see her coworkers behind the counter snickering at you two. Immediately, you assumed they were laughing solely at you, talking about how the only reasonable explanation for your lack of response was stupidity beyond any repair.
So, you turned around and walked out of the door. You felt so embarrassed , more than you have ever felt since high school. All you wanted to do was go home and decompress.
Wanda stood there in a state of shock. One second, she was there trying to explain to you how she couldn’t make your drink because they were out of oat milk; the next, you were gone.
Did I say something wrong? Wanda thought to herself as she watched you escape her workplace.
Hanging her head in shame, she retreated to behind the counter where her coworkers, Bucky and Sam, were still laughing at her failed attempt to have a conversation with you. The brunette has watched you for a while from afar; she knew your favorite drink like the back of her hand, and she always tried to make sure your favorite spot in the corner of the café was kept neat and tidy for you. In her eyes, you were the most beautiful creature to walk on this planet. She would give up anything to know you as something more than just a customer.
Wanda let out a sigh of frustration mixed with sadness, leaning against the counter with her head in her hands. She finally broke the monotony of the undying laughter, “Would the two of you stop laughing? It’s not funny. Oh my god, that was so embarrassing.”
“Cheer up, little witch,” Bucky started. “There are more fish in the sea.”
“I don’t want other fish, though. I want her,” she tried to reason. “She’s so pretty, Bucky. And, after months, I finally worked up the courage to talk to her, and she just walked away from me.”
The latter part made Sam raise an eyebrow, “What do you mean she just walked away from you? Did you say something that could’ve upset her?”
“I don’t think so,” Wanda tried to think back. “I was just starting to explain how we were out of oat milk, so I couldn’t make her drink. But, before I could even give her some alternative choices, she just… left.”
Sam let out a hum, unsure of what exactly to reply. The three employees went back to work, yet Wanda was definitely not thinking about her encounter with you while making the various orders.
A few days had passed since the incident. Even though you vowed never to return to the coffee place (your favorite coffee joint), a conversation with your mother left you feeling more empowered and confident about it all. Her facial expressions and rapid hand motions displaying her anger at the workers forced a smile out of you.
Thus, you decided that you were going to return to the coffee place the next morning. You repeated the same mobile order but decided to keep your phone in hand in case you needed to type something mean and vulgar at the employees who left you feeling humiliated the other day.
You grasp the handle and pull the door forward, granting yourself entry into the once comforting setting.
With a fleeting glance to the counter, your eyes briefly meet hers. It was too late to turn back now, so you cautiously walked to the familiar pick-up area. However, your drink seems to be missing again today. Great.
You look up to see the same woman from before warily approaching you, and it takes everything you have in your body to not flee the scene. Similar to the previous time she walked up to you, the girl began to speak again. She did not get very far before you opened the notes app on your phone and started to furiously type. By the expression on her face, you could tell she was surprised at the sudden action but waited for you to stop typing.
After a minute passed, you finally turned the phone to show your message to the woman:
Hi, there. I’m deaf, and I don’t have hearing aids on at this moment. Anything that you’ve said, I did not hear… at all.
You watched with patience as the other girl slowly and carefully skimmed the message. Her head tilted and her mouth opened to form an O-like shape, and you could pinpoint this moment with exact accuracy as the moment she realized that you were not (and were never) purposefully ignoring her — you couldn’t hear her; that’s why you must have left suddenly.
She shyly smiled and nodded towards your phone. With a quirked eyebrow, you offer it to her. She happily takes it from you to begin typing a message of her own:
Hi! I’m so sorry I didn’t realize before… I’m sure it must’ve been frustrating to just have someone talking AT you rather than WITH you. Is that why you left suddenly last time?
You weren’t really sure why you were surprised by her message, specifically the last part. Did she remember? After thinking for a few minutes, you form a reply:
Yeah, I guess… I was just very overwhelmed, and I saw some of the others laughing. I just felt bad, idk. So, I left.
You definitely did not expect the frown that appeared on her face when you walked in there today. She pointed to the phone, and you gave it to her once more.
I’m sorry… if it makes you feel any better, they weren’t laughing at you or anything. Actually, they were laughing at me, not you.
As you read the new message, your face visibly contorted into confusion and disbelief.
What do you mean?
With the phone in her hands again, she typed:
I’ve been wanting to talk to you for months, Y/N. The last time you were here, I finally tried to talk to you - at least about how we were out of oat milk for your drink. I guess they found you walking away without saying anything VERY comical.
It was your turn to be in a complete and utter state of shock.
Oh… Wait, how do you know my name?
She wrote her reply fairly quick:
Who do you think makes your drink every time? ;)
As she passes the phone back to you, she personifies the wink in real life. Immediately, you feel the blood rush to your cheeks.
Well, I feel like it’s fair to ask for your name now - an 'eye for an eye’ type of thing.
She subconsciously bites her bottom lip as she slid the phone over with her reply:
Wanda. Wanda Maximoff.
Something about her name and connecting it to her made you feel… light.
Well, Wanda, I’m here talking to you now, aren’t I? Why did you want to talk to me before? Am I that intimating?
It was her turn to fall victim to blushing, reading your questions regarding her apprehension of talking to you.
Intimidating? No, not really. Really pretty, though? Can neither confirm nor deny.
You released a small, quiet chuckle at her compliment; Wanda, on the other hand, has to remember for a second how to breathe because she heard you for the first time. She loved it, and she only wants to hear more.
Give me your phone?
You sit there in confusion but comply with her unspoken request nonetheless. You give you her unlocked phone again, except you notice there’s no new message in your notes app conversation. You raise your eyebrow, showing you don’t really understand what just happened. Wanda, however, just winks at you again and slowly returns to her spot behind the counter.
You never found out what she did at that moment on your phone until you receive a text a few minutes later from a foreign contact labeled “Wanda ;)”:
Wanda ;)  [9:47 AM]
Hey, sorry to cut our convo short - I had to help the customers. Meet me for dinner after work? 6 pm? :)
How could you say no to a request from her? You look up from your phone to see her biting her lip, hiding a smile as she makes drinks for other people. You look back down at your own device to respond:
You [9:48 AM]
I’ll be there. :)
You don’t remember being treated with such care and understanding before, especially by who was merely a stranger moments ago and has seemingly little experience with a person who is deaf. Wanda was different, though — a good different. She initiated a feeling of happiness and freedom within you that had not been experienced prior to that day. Most people did not consider trying to help you or finding different ways to talk to you, but Wanda did; moreover, she did so because she wanted to — she wanted to actually know you.
It was increasingly evident that you were beyond infatuated with her. The night went so well, in fact, that you changed her contact from “Wanda ;)” to “Wanda <3” after you met her for your date that same evening.
End.

Life was hard when you had a younger sister. It was through no fault of your own, and it certainly wasn’t hers either. The blame rested on neglectful parents who left you both on the wayside. You were much older than her, the first of your parents many mistakes. By the time your sister was born, you were well out of the house and stable enough to get legal custody of her. Your parents were more than happy to sign over their parental rights, neither wanting to be weighed down by another child so late in life — not that they paid much attention to you in the first place. For all intents and purposes, you considered your sister the closest thing to a daughter you could get.
She was yours, and you were hers. It was as simple as that.
While you hated your parents, the same resentment that fogged your logical mind was never present when it came to your sister. She was so young; sweet and kind with a heart of gold. There was no reason for you to blame her for the circumstances of her birth. Besides, you loved her far too much to even bother. You remembered her first toddling steps, her first words — you cried laughing when a loud exclamation of ‘FUCK!’ echoed from her mouth. How much she hated the taste of carrots but would never grow tired of them if they were dipped in ranch. You remembered how lonely you were on her first day of Kindergarten, and how proud of her you were when she came home, touting stories of all the new friends she made.
Every year that passed, she grew more and more into the wonderful person you knew she would be. You couldn’t fathom how your parents weren’t bothered enough to be in your life. Raising your sister was the most fulfilling thing you had ever experienced. Everyday was a gift that she granted you in broad smiles and pudgy hands.
Even then, you couldn’t help but mourn the countless experiences you missed out on. Your childhood was not one you looked back fondly on, with nights alone and afraid, sobbing for a mother who would never come. Those empty days when you would stare at the happy families around you, wondering what was so wrong with you that made it so your parents didn’t love you the way others did. The young adulthood that was supposed to set you free was unceremoniously interrupted by a sweet little girl who looked at you with such innocent eyes, you knew you couldn’t let her carry the same scars you did.
Your sister didn’t know what you gave up to raise her, and a part of you hoped she never did. God forbid she ever thought she ruined your life. You would die before you allowed her to carry that burden.
Dating was hard, but thankfully, not impossible. First and foremost, your sister’s opinion on any prospective partner mattered even more than your own. Despite her age, she had a knack for sussing out people’s true intentions in a single glance. You always went into dating expecting the long term. If you were going to invite someone into your sister’s life, it’d be someone who would give her the stability and kindness that she deserved.
It was hard to find someone who was willing to deal with your particular situation. Every first date, the first thing that left your mouth was that you had a child in your life and the expectations that came with that. Many left after this, though you refused to give up. You deserved companionship, there had to be someone out there for you. Finally, you met someone who didn’t balk at the prospect of your sister, and after several months of dating, you decided it was time to introduce the two most important people in your life to each other.
Sir Crocodile
It was winter when you met him. Crocodile was intimidating, so much so, you found yourself nearly shaking in your boots when you first saw him. It was your first, and decidedly your last, blind date. To say you were surprised when you saw the former warlord sitting at your designated table, waiting for you, of all people, would be an understatement. Crocodile was polite, even cordial to you, pulling out your chair for you and allowing you to indulge for the first time in a very long time. Money was tight these days, though you kept that little tidbit of information to yourself. When you questioned why Crocodile was on a blind date of all things, his expression shifted to one of annoyance, your only reply being a low grumble under his breath. You worried you ruined the date with your silly question, only to be pleasantly surprised when he invited you to meet with him again. And again after that. And again after that. Each date topped the last in terms of extravagance. It wasn’t until on a quiet night, sharing each other’s company, that he confessed he liked you more than he should allow himself. With his thumb against your lips, he swore to never let you go. After that declaration, you decided to put Crocodile to the ultimate test. Meeting your sister.
You invited him to spend Christmas with you. Even if the first introduction didn’t go well, Crocodile was too smitten to allow you to leave him that easily. A silly little girl’s opinion of him would not be his downfall. If he failed once, he would try again and again until he got it right. Crocodile fully intended to woo that little girl with toys and gifts, approaching your humble apartment looking like an evil version of Santa Claus. Considering the expensive items he showered you in, you couldn’t say you were surprised at this turn of events, though you couldn’t help but fondly roll your eyes as you approached the door. For once, Crocodile wasn’t accompanied by the scent of cigars, having snuffed his out on the ride over. You told him, under no circumstances, would you have him smoking around your girl. To be honest, Crocodile did not expect this whole charade to end well. He wasn’t good with kids, and really, he didn’t like them all that much anyway. For you, however, he would try.
Crocodile’s insistence on bringing gifts worked in his favor. The second your sister saw him enter the apartment, presents in his arms, she started to vibrate with excitement. “What are those?” She asked, too polite to automatically assume they were for her, even if she was silently hoping that was the case. When Crocodile set the bags down and invited her to help herself with a wave of his arm and a smile that looked more like a grimace, she squealed, diving into the pile with vigor. Your sister was a little ray of sunshine, with the uncanny ability to worm her way into even the coldest of hearts. She spent most of the day hovering around Crocodile, not the slightest bit intimidated by his stature or his harsh expression. Even his former warlord status had no effect on her, considering she didn’t even know what that meant in the grand scheme of things. You smiled as you watched the larger man allow your sister to use him like a human jungle gym. Though he looked displeased, he couldn’t hide that glimmer of fondness in his eyes. Not from you, at least.
Dracule Mihawk
You met Mihawk in the spring. It was a chance encounter at a local winery. For once, you wanted to take some time for yourself and do a little wine tasting, not expecting to meet the most intense pair of golden eyes you had ever seen in your life. You found yourself frozen in place for a moment before he turned back to his wine, casually swirling the glass it was in. Feeling out of your depth, you hesitantly sat next to him and tried to enjoy yourself despite those eyes boring a hole into the side of your head. With a grin that was more than a bit forced, you said your greetings, and much to your surprise, the man struck up conversation. He introduced himself, and your soul nearly left your body when you realized you were interrupting a warlord of the sea’s wine tasting, though you managed to keep your head enough for your own introduction. Mihawk’s company was pleasant. He was quiet, choosing to listen more than speak himself. Whenever he did grace you with his voice, his knowledge of wine was without comparison. Very quickly, you found yourself smitten with his intelligence, your previous nerves being replaced with something a bit more reminiscent of your school years. Before you could work up the courage to ask if you could see him again, Mihawk beat you to the punch. As if he was asking the weather, Mihawk asked for your contact information. Your heart nearly beat out of your chest when you explained the situation with your sister, worried that whatever connection with this mysterious man would dissipate in an instant. Mihawk merely blinked at you. “If that’s all. I have more than enough experience in dealing with the young.”
The months passed slowly, and as summer came to a close, Mihawk told you it was time for him to head home. If you were so inclined, he would be honored if you and your sister cared to join him. You snickered, admitting you wouldn’t be going anywhere until he passed your final test: meeting your little sister. Mihawk accepted graciously — you noticed that competitive glint in his eye, as he was about to treat introducing himself to your sister as seriously as he treated swordplay. Unlike Crocodile, Mihawk did not sully the special occasion with gifts. He wanted your sister to like him for him, buying her affection felt more akin to cheating than anything else. While Mihawk had little experience with children, he couldn’t imagine it being any different than living with Perona and Zoro for two years, so he was going into the situation with a certain amount of confidence.
Your sister was similar to you. Just like with your first meeting, your sister did most of the talking. First, asking why his eyes were that color, then to tell him all about her friends at school, and finally, how he seemed ‘pretty cool’ but he wasn’t as cool as her favorite teacher. Mihawk took all of this in stride, nodding along to her rambling, even going so far as to offer her a small smile when she showed off her art project she was going to show off for show and tell the following day. Your sister had a knack for art, and you loved her creative mind. The whole time she talked to Mihawk, you couldn’t help the fond expression that crept up on your face, nor could you control the full force of your blush when you realized Mihawk was studying you. He liked that look on you. The love you held for your sister was commendable and he respected your dedication to her. In the end, as much as he would love to have the two of you in his home, Mihawk decided that it would be best for the two of you to remain on your island. Your sister seemed very comfortable with her classmates, and there was little he could offer her in terms of companionship at his dreary castle in the middle of nowhere. You agreed, but before you could mourn the loss of yet another relationship, Mihawk made it known that he would visit the two of you as often as he could. (Spoiler: It was very often) During your sister’s summer vacation, the two of you spent those three months in Mihawk’s home, as happy as can be.

okay this is gonna be a bit of a long rant (with some SA and CSA mentions so pls don’t read if that will be too much for you rn) but I’ve been thinking a lot about the “male loneliness epidemic” lately and I have some Thoughts ™
we live in very isolating, depressing and scary times. we live in a hyper-individualistic capitalist hellscape that seems to punish people who need community support. and I truly believe that we as humans should try to help each other out in the ways that we are able to.
but I lose 100% of my empathy for lonely depressed men when they start using their own personal issues as an excuse to peddle ideologies that advocate for rape, pedophilia, child marriage, sexual slavery, and even murder of women and girls. I don’t fucking care how sad you are, if you advocate for other humans beings to be subjected to the cruelest treatment possible then you either need to get serious help or die (and not take anyone with you when you do).
you do not have a fucking paramount on suffering. you are not the only ones who experience loneliness. I know you think women get to just pick and choose whichever romantic partner/friends we want, but that is false, and also being seen as nothing but a sex object by men is so incredibly isolating too. that’s not real love and connection, that’s only being valued for what we can provide for men. so many people feel so alone and it genuinely is a big problem.
I was raised in an extremely misogynistic cult that preaches that grown men are not responsible for anything they do to little girls bc “they’re wired that way.” I had very bad things happen to me before I was even old enough to realize what it meant. and you know what the excuse always is? “well it happened to him when he was younger too so he can’t help that he does it to you.” I learned very early that male suffering is viewed as more important than the suffering they inflict on innocent people. and despite going through this, despite seeing nearly every woman in my life go through something similar, despite all of this, I still would never ever sympathize with any ideology that preaches rape, slavery, sex trafficking, pedophilia, white supremacy, etc. and that doesn’t make me some super hero, it makes me a mildly normal person.
so no, nobody “pushed” you into your evil ideologies, nobody made you do that. if true suffering at the hands of the opposite sex is really the root cause of inceldom then almost every single woman I know would be the most insane incel you’d ever meet in your entire life. but they’re not, even though many of them are lonely and long for true companionship, none of them feel so angry and entitled to it that they want to murder and rape men or little boys. not a single one. the root cause of inceldom is, and always has been, male entitlement. men who were raised to believe the world and every woman in it exists to serve them in some way, but then grew up and realized that actually nobody is owed sex and you don’t get to force women to marry you and have kids, because we are human beings who deserve to be happy too. and this makes them so mad that they start thinking it’s okay to do whatever they want to whoever they want, because after all, nobody on planet earth could ever suffer as much as incels do when a woman tells them no.
I’m fucking sick of it. stop saying “they pushed me to this” and start taking even an ounce of accountability for your deranged, entitled mindset.

pretty sure legolas was awkward around the fellowship because his people literally tried to steal the treasure at the lonely mountain a scant 100 years before
legolas is like a covid dog. daddy thranduil did not take his son to the dog park so now legolas does not know what a child is and freaks out when he sees one. legolas is an unsocialized shelter herding dog with too much energy and impulsive to herd and protect his flock of hobbits that he doesn’t understand.
point of order: legolas would have been in that siege. i think legolas does not feel awkward because of this; his awkwardness is pre-existing and now he has to deal with this. and because is he so awkward, any attempts to deal with this are also awkward. also- any awkwardness from the attempted seigue is not out of guilt but out of embarrassment of mirkwood’s failure to take over the lonely mountain. he does not understand why mirkwood was in the wrong, and probably would not until gimli laid it out to him and even they he might not.
ok real talk:
legolas grew up in an environment that was full of change and he didn’t have much to anchor him self on. no to mention he’s one of the only elves (arwen being the other) to experience this new world- a lot of the knowledge that could have been passed down to him is now redundant. he had no peers of his age so naturally that impacted his social development- not to mention the overall fleeing of elfkind from middle earth. he had no maternal figure and what we can assume was a strained relationship with his father, so his ability to connect with people suffered greatly. from what we know about elves, their sense of community is incredibly important, and the lack of relationships in his life created a naturally awkward person who does not know how to begin or maintain said relationships. i believe this is a legolas was not only placed on the fellowship, but sent to rivendell to begin with: quite literally, to socialize him.

Homelander as a Girl Dad
Tumblr media
Trigger warning: DV, parental alienation, Homelander being Homelander.
Prompt: Anonymous asked: I don't know if someone already requested Homelander as a girl dad. But could I request him to have a supe daughter who is really close to him and loves him and yet also hates, fears him and can’t wait for the world to be rid of him.
This work is written as first a headcanon then transitions into a story. Enjoy!
You were Homelander's personal assistant and from the moment Ashley hired you, Homelander was infatuated. He would drop not-so-subtle hints of his affection and shower you with gifts and experiences you never thought you’d get. He’d take you to movie premiers and had you meet the members of the Seven. He would give you any and all dresses, shoes, and accessories you’d want. You were always attracted to Homelander; to his charm, his heroism, and his good looks. So, when you realized that the affections were mutual and he told you to call him John, you felt like the luckiest girl on earth.
When the relationship moved towards a physical one, John was as gentle as he could be with you. There were a few times when you had to remind him that you were just a normal person and not to be so rough. John would often say he’d want a family with you and that having a child would be the greatest gift anyone could ever give him. When you became pregnant and told John, both of your worlds were turned upside down. For better or worse, well it depends on your perspective.
You were okay with being in the public eye when working as Homelander’s personal assistant, and even more adjusted to it when the two of you started dating. Once the world heard that the two of you were expecting, the paparazzi increased tenfold. You were not able to go anywhere without paparazzi taking pictures and asking questions. One time the crowd of photographers was so dense, that a paparazzi accidentally bumped your baby belly too hard and made you stumble over in pain. Once that story went public, you were not allowed to leave John’s penthouse without him accompanying you. There were rumors that Homelander ‘took care’ of the photographer, but you chose to not believe them. Your sweet and charming John wasn’t capable of something so awful.
John is a busy man, attending meetings, social events, and the occasional hero work. You spent the majority of your days in the penthouse, there were people cooking for you and waiting on you hand and foot. You grew lonely, most of the people there either working in their positions to get a paycheck or out of fear, not speaking to you often. Whenever John came home, you’d run to him and embrace him, him being your only source of interaction. You’d ask him how his day went, sometimes he’d tell you, other times, he’d ask how the baby was.
When you gave birth, John was a little disappointed that it was a girl. You would reassure him that girls can do whatever boys can and that sometimes a father-daughter bond is stronger. John perked up after hearing that. In the beginning, John would be put off by the care of having an infant. They stink, they’re loud, messy and so goddamn needy. He did like the perk of you breastfeeding, it was always incorporated into sexy times with him. You thought of it as an undiscovered kink of his.
When your daughter was older, around toddler age, that’s when John started to take more interest in being a father figure. He’d teach Callie, your daughter, how to walk, how to use the potty, how to read. In the beginning, you were fine with it, it gave you a chance to take some time for yourself and watch the two of them bond. As time went on, you noticed that John would start to leave you out of the conversation and bonding experience as a family.
As time went on, John pushed you out more and more when interacting with Callie. He’d be the one taking care of her daily needs, ignoring you when you’d ask for updates on how she was doing in school, how her doctor’s visit went, and other important information. When you spoke to John about how you were feeling left out, he showed you a side of him you’ve never seen before. Hatred, malice, disdain. John wanted to be the sole caregiver to Callie. There were times that he’d shut you away in a room all by yourself, making you a prisoner in your own home. There were times when John would make the move to smack or attempt to hit you, but he’d always stop himself. After a while, he revoked your privilege of calling him John, you now had to call him Homelander.
You’d ask Homelander what went wrong in the relationship for him to treat you this way, but your inquiry was met with hostility. You began to contemplate leaving the penthouse whenever the two of them left for an outing. You know Homelander would never hurt Callie, he adores her. So, one day, you left…
“I’m home dad!” Callie said as she threw her schoolbag on the floor and walked into the kitchen to grab a snack. It’s been a few years since her mother left and she was told by her father that it was because her mother didn’t love her anymore. Callie was hurt by what her father told her, but she had no reason not to believe him.
“Hey sport, how are you today?” Homelander said as he threw his muscled arms around Callie. Callie grimaced but accepted the hug. Homelander noticed the change in her mood, he pulled himself away from her and asked,
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
“Uh huh, don’t lie to me missy. Tell me, what’s up?” Callie looks around the room, wanting to look at anything besides her father.
“I… uh… don’t think that you can help me with this. It’s something moms usually talk about.”
“Of course, I can help you, Callie. You can trust me with anything.” A few moments of silence and then Callie said,
“I got my period today.” Homelander blinked at Callie. Damn… I don’t know how to help her with that he thought. Homelander grabbed Callies’ hand and the two of them went to the entrance of the penthouse.
“Where are we going?”
“I have someone we’re going to talk to.” The two of them appeared in front of Ashleys office. Homelander opens the door, and a voice rang thru the large room,
“What the fuck have I told you about knocking Ashley?” Homelander and Callie came through the threshold. Ashleys demeanor went from hardened to frightened the moment she laid eyes on the man. Callie noticed this was a common theme with anyone that came across her father.
“Homelander, Callie. H-how can I help you?” Ashley said as her hand flew up into her red hair. Homelander sat Callie down on the sofa in the lounge area and went to mute the TV that was displaying the news.
“Callie here is now a woman. She needs to know some helpful tips about periods.” Callie turned to her dad and gave him a look that can be conveyed as ‘what the fuck?’ Homelander just shrugged as Ashley cleared her throat. Ashley walked from behind her desk to sit herself onto the armchair to the left of Callie. Ashley let out a nervous chuckle, looking at Homelander before she spoke,
“We’ll, as you know, periods are a normal thing for women…” Ashley looks around the room, trying to find inspiration in what she’s telling Callie. “Periods are a beautiful and natural thing for a young woman to have! They mean that—Oh my god!” Ashleys attention went to the TV screen, as did the other two. Displayed was a picture of a tall, bearded man in a trench coat and next to him, was you. The caption on the picture stated, “SUSPECTS WANTED FOR THE DEATH OF TRANSLUCENT” Ashley began stuttering, mumbling, and furiously twisting her hair in her fingers. Callie stood up and walked towards the TV, closely inspecting the picture of you in your disguise. Homelander approached the TV and promptly turned it off.
“Okay that’s enough for today. I think this kiddo has some homework to do dontcha bud?” Homelander grabs Callies hand and drags her out of Ashleys office. A million thoughts ran through Callies mind. ‘Why would mom join the bad guys? Why did she kill Translucent? Why did she leave me?’ Homelander picked up on the hurt on Callies face and said,
“Hey, it’s okay. I’ll get it all taken care of.” Homelander took Callie back to the penthouse and said that he needed to step out for business and that she could order a pizza for dinner. When gone, Callie gathered her key fob and left the penthouse in search of you.
*
It had been a few hours looking in the area you’d been photographed, but Callie had finally found you in the subway, tucked away in a corner waiting for the train to arrive. She took in your appearance; sunglasses, ballcap and a leather jacket with the lapels pulled up to hide your face. Callie approached you slowly,
“Hey mom.” You spun to face her, freezing at the young girl standing before you. It’s been years since you’d seen Callie, at least in person. You’d seen her on TV many times, making appearances with your ex. She was a perfect mix of both you and Homelander.
“Callie. What are you doing here?”
“I saw you on TV.”
“It’s not safe for you to be here honey.”
“Don’t call me that. You don’t get to call me that after how you left us. After how you left me!” Callie began raising her voice, emotions starting to grow inside her. You approached her slowly after noting the fists Callie was making and said,
“You’re right. I’m sorry.” A tear ran down Callies cheek. You desperately wanted to reach out and wipe it away, you however treated her like she was a frightened animal, careful with your movements.
“Why did you leave?” You never wanted to answer that question, wanting Homelander to have that special bond between father and daughter untarnished. Before you could open your mouth, you heard the train approach, looking in its direction, you were torn. Now was your chance to escape, but you also wanted to set things straight with your daughter.
“Callie… I-”
“Trains ‘ere.” The man that was with you earlier on the TV broadcast appeared next to you, voice heavy with a cockney accent. Callie looked at both you and the tall man, named Billy Butcher. Callie had heard her father speak of him from time to time and how he was the bane of his existence. Once the train stopped, you made the difficult decision to part ways with Callie, you didn’t want her getting caught up in all your bullshit. Homelander will keep her safe, he would never let anything happen to her. As you found your seat on the train, Callie sat down next to you.
“Callie!”
“You never answered my question, why did you leave?” Looking between Callie and the subway train floor, you told her everything. How Homelander was the nicest man you’d ever met, and he slowly showed himself to be a monster. You told her of the domestic abuse and the times that he would alienate you from being a mother to Callie.
“I love you so much Callie. I never wanted to leave you, but I couldn’t stay with your father. I knew he would never lay a finger on you, you’re all he’s ever wanted.” Callie’s world was rocked. Her whole life she’d heard from her father that she wasn’t loved by you, that the only reason why you wanted to be with her Homelander was because of fame and fortune.
The train rolled to a stop a few stations from when the three of them went on. As you got off the train, Callie followed you and Butcher. Callie noticed the whispers between you and Butcher, you look back at her.
“Callie you can’t come with us.”
“I’ve finally found you after all these years and now you want to push me away?! It’s not fair!” Callie clenched her fist and punched a brick pillar, knocking the blocks loose. Callie’s face widens in shock, she’s never done that before. She didn’t even know she had the strength.
“Callie, what we do, is too dangerous for you. I’ll give you my number so we can text but know that I can’t always reply. Butcher, go ahead to the hideout, I’ll take Callie back home.” You and Callie catch a train ride to a subway stop just a block from Vought tower. On the train, you two talk about school and what her favorite subjects are, its art, what flavor ice cream she likes, it’s the same as yours, and Callie asked you what to do when it came to periods.
“It’s important to keep yourself clean, shower at least once a day. There may be times when you will have a stain, don’t worry. This happens to all of us at some point. If it happens at school and it’s on your pants, wear a sweatshirt around your waist if you can. Also, don’t wear white pants if you can help it.” Callie absorbed as much information you had to give about the subject, appreciative that you’re willing to talk about such a sensitive topic. Callie was beginning to question her father’s animosity towards you, you were so warm and welcoming and kind, the opposite of his descriptors was for you. Finally reaching your destination and standing outside of the tower, you give Callie a quick hug.
“Text me anytime but please, don’t tell your father about this. I don’t know when I can see you again, but if this plan pulls through then it may be sooner than later.” Callie nodded her head and went inside the building and into the elevator. Callie stepped into the penthouse and saw a worried Homelander standing next to the kitchen island.
“And where were you?” Homelanders voice low, eyes narrow, almost like he knew what she was up to, he just waiting for her to confess. Callie met his menacing glare with one of her own, and replied,
“Out.” She then left to go into her room, revulsion filling her thoughts about her father. Homelander the world's greatest and strongest superhero, was a calculating cruel man who filled her head with lies in an attempt to hate her own mother. Callie hoped whatever plan her mother had up her sleeve worked.

Thought I had after reading a bunch of headcanons from @16woodsequ
I think the greatest tragedy of Steve Rogers' life is not the pain he suffered as a child, or the abuse from his father, or the grief of losing people or the tiredness of always having to fight.
The greatest tragedy of Steve Rogers' life is everyone around him knowing him, but simultaneously also ignoring him. Yes, Captain America is famous, he's admired/hated (depends on where you're standing). He's talked about often, asked for advice and leadership, he gets privileges too.
But no one really knows him. No one knows just how hurt he is. How *lonely* he is. How distrustful he is. How anxious and scared he is. No one bothers to find out either.
There's a reason he wanted someone with shared life experiences. Nat may try to get to know him, sympathise with him. Sam - bless his soul - tries his best but even as a veteran himself, he can't really understand everything about Steve Rogers, because a) he hasn't witnessed Steve's entire life, and b) Steve is extremely reserved, both by nature and out of trust issues.
As for everyone else, his teammates aren't nearly close enough to him, and everyone else simply doesn't care.
Everyone knows Captain America but not a single soul knows, or cares about Steven Grant Rogers.
Except...
Except for maybe that one boy who stuck with him and fought off the bullies and patched him up later. The boy who grew up with him and watched him grow up while tackling everything life was throwing. The boy who later on became the man who followed him into the jaws of death (quite literally). The boy who, as far as Steve knew, was now at the bottom of an abyss in the Alps. The boy who he had nothing left of, except dog tags and his own faded pencil sketches.
The boy whose name was James Buchanan Barnes.

What popular/fandom take on Gale do you feel most out of step with? Where does your interpretation diverge?
I’m gonna make this non rebloggable, people can capture this if they want but under the cut! There’s a lot… and it’s mostly headcanon territory with a bit implied from canon.
I think he is an only child of a single mum. I mean this is about fifty fifty.
He grew up rich. He would call himself comfortable. Again this is fifty fifty I think.
Morena was emotionally a bit overbearing but also sometimes a little absent. He was a bit of a lonely child before Tara.
I think he came to the attention of Elminster way before Mystra. Possibly 15 years before. Mostly because of the Mystra timeline.
I think he was absolutely insufferable in his late teens and early twenties as he got enabled by people. I think he can be quite easily influenced by other people in social situations, and this was definitely more when he was younger.
I think he was popular as a young man, and could have had a lot of one night stands, but instead wanted things with a bit more intellectual connection. He’s had a handful of experiences with people he felt a connection with.
Elminster introduced Mystra to him thinking she would absorb his power. He brought a ton of potential chosen to her to complete her ascension until he found another solution. This would have been not long after Gale’s studies in his mid twenties.
When Gale met Mystra she still had a small spark of humanity (like how we see god!Gale in the epilogue actually!) and when that disappeared, Gale was trying to reach for it. That’s what led him to the weave.
But also, although he would never admit it, it was also pride. He wanted to be an equal in her eyes, even though that is impossible. He’s frustrated, unfulfilled by their relationship and he doesn’t know why.
He has chronic pain and that’s key to his character (again, mixed feelings in the fandom on this I feel?)
He would literally want to be with anybody if they were intellectually stimulating to him. Doesn’t mean they have to be academics but as long as they challenge him he would love it.
He would be very happy without kids and if he does become a father he would not be super good at it all the time! He’d have to learn how to be patient and would need to be supported!
I think his stamina with physical sex is terrible to start and I don’t think he’s as good at oral as he thinks. But he’s a good learner!

Aware na Beta wa Koi wo Shiranai - By Yashiki Shima (8/10)
Tumblr media
A totally toxic butler and master. The A/B/O universe setting isn't too weak here. It focuses on the cult-like idolization of Alphas, and how messed up it actually is. The couple in this one is so dysfunctional that I am sure they will destroy each other.
Friends.
That isn't really a thing between an heir to a big Alpha branch family, and a Beta from a distinguished line of butlers.
Tumblr media
Seno used to have a crush on his Alpha master. He started his servant training very young. As he grew he started to become ashamed of his feelings, because great Alpha's should only sleep with rare Omega breeders or other powerful Alphas. Seno's father is a veteran butler, who teaches him this shame. Beta servants are not allowed to lust over their great masters. Seno buries his feelings, even though they were just innocent love. He was only a child. He didn’t really see his master (another child) as a sexual object. It was a crush, and the shame made him forget. The shame made him into a servile robot. He encourages his master to sleep with Omegas as soon as he is of age.
He doesn't know that his master loves him too, and that encouragement drove him crazy.
Tumblr media
Ryosuke has a problem. He's wealthy to the point of being a king among men. He is a handsome and healthy alpha, but he's been nursing an obsession with his Beta servant since he was very young.
Nobody knows.
He hides his love.
He behaves the way an Alpha should, and he takes many partners to bed.
Deep at night, in his most private quarters, he begins to experiment. He shoves drugs into Seno's sleeping body, so he can cuddle and kiss (and do horrible things) to his desired partner. Ryosuke can't bite Seno to claim him, and that makes him extra paranoid. One of Seno's close friends is a spy. Ryosuke pays him for updates on Seno's movements.
Tumblr media
A weaker Alpha shows interest in Seno. This is mostly because of the drugs. The drugs Seno ingested can't magically make him an Omega, but they do make him more attractive to Alphas. Also he has less control over his lust.
Seno doesn't figure it out.
He just thinks he's lonely, and that's the cause of his um...frequent hot moments.
Tumblr media
Their relationship keeps getting more toxic.
Tumblr media
The obvious happens. They hook up. Seno rejects it. He feels like he has betrayed his father. His family. Ryosuke must marry and continue his noble bloodline. A Beta like him...doesn't fit.
Tumblr media
Ryosuke kidnaps him. Another butler cares for his needs when Ryosuke goes away to attend to business.
It's all very creepy.
Tumblr media
Seno is wrecked by guilt. Ryosuke, of course, has a perfect and wealthy fiance.
He thinks he is ruining Ryosuke.
He doesn't know Ryosuke has been a freak for a decade.
Tumblr media
Seno also believes Ryosuke's feelings will lead to a disaster. A break up of sorts. Seno can stay with him forever as a butler, but lovers don't last long with Alphas. Most of the Alphas in this universe have multiple wives. Again Ryosuke has been hiding how creepy he actually is, so the kidnapping is a total shock to Seno.
Tumblr media
Ryosuke lies.
He says Seno can work as a butler as normal again, if Seno agrees to date him for a week. Really, he just wants Seno to get used to life as a kept man.
Seno tells his father everything.
The finale involves Seno betraying Ryosuke, fleeing back to normalcy, and Ryosuke snapping for real.

Kirk, Loneliness & Isolation
This is basically something that came to mind while watching Star Trek. I sent it to a friend, and now I'm sharing it here because I can not stop thinking about this. 😆
Captain Kirk is so lonely. Admiral Kirk even more so.
I really truly believe that why Kirk is so sad in Star Trek 2 is the same reason he's often sad in TOS and to some extent AOS.
Basically, it's a lack of community.
Two times Kirk is at his saddest is in TOS season 1 when he only allows McCoy and Spock to get close to him because the enterprise takes everything else from him. She's a lady who he keeps giving his all too, and she just takes more. Because he's in command he can't really be friends with people. It might lead to an abuse of power. He can't have relationships because of his job. Whenever he flirts with someone he has them transferred right after. When season 2 comes along and he knows that the other people on the bridge are willing to stand up to him. Then he slowly starts to consider them his friends and becomes closer.
Then we see him in Star Trek II and everything he had to keep him grounded, to combat his loneliness, is gone.
He doesn't have people who trust him or any willing to stand up to him and challenge him. He's no longer on a ship where he can step out of his room and see other humans right there in the halls. He doesn't have the easy access to the rec room to engage with others in downtime (in season 1 I believe it was either McCoy or a woman who asks Kirk why he always leaves the rec room quickly). Everything he had slowly allowed himself to have because it didn't interfere with his duties and didn't lead to abuses of power over his subordinates has been taken away.
The people around him who he could call friends, gone. Once again.
TOS Kirk only called people who knew him before he was captain + Spock friends until halfway through season 2. Then Scotty also gets the privilege. Well, when he becomes admiral he falls back into that self-isolating quality. Only people who knew him before Admiralty can be friends because he's less scared about accidentally abusing his power over them. He trusts them to fight back if he goes too far. Not only is he once again in a position of power where he has to be careful not to abuse it, but now he doesn't even get to explore space or solve problems. He doesn't even feel useful anymore.
He's completely unchallenged, isolated, and locked away by power because he has enough self-restraint to not abuse his privileges.
And maybe even too much.
TOS Kirk hates nepotism. AOS Kirk is the result of it (thank you Captain Pike), and I think that's why AOS Kirk doesn't feel as lonely as TOS Kirk.
Or at least that's my theory behind it all.
TOS Kirk saw again and again what happens when a leader isn't humble. (The genocide he faced as a teenager, his first mission disaster, the loss of his first ship's captain, etc.) He doesn't want to be that kind of leader.
Meanwhile AOS doesn't have any of those experiences and we can kind of assume he faced abuse as a child. He grew up lonely and blurs the lines between professionalism and friendship so easily because like TOS Kirk, AOS craves community but he doesn't have the self-restraint to not seek it out.

Hey for ask game how about 5 headcanons on a What-If scenario where En unfortunately is All For One’s son?
(yeah I like En a lot I think he’s neat.)
I like En and want him to be happy. But I did this.
He was born by complete accident. AFO had only recently learned what sex was, being raised a street rat, and realized that having it was a big deal apparently. He decided to do it so he didn't look lame by society's standards. Unfortunately, he did not know a thing about protection and Miss Tayutai was too starstruck to question anything about it. When AFO heard the news that she was pregnant his first thought was to get a paternity test. His second was to think about what having a child would be like. He was actually kind of excited to be a dad because if he and Yoichi were identical twins, then the baby would also be Yoichi's baby and have his DNA. It would be like raising Yoichi again.
En was born and AFO was the father. Unfortunately, the MHA curse struck. En looked like his mom. Not a single bit of Yoichi to be found in his looks. AFO was disappointed but the baby still had Yoichi's DNA so he decided to keep it. But he was so angry about the way he looked, he killed En's mom and named him En after his ugly gray eyes, the color of smoke.
En grew up with a critical father who never admitted his own faults and loved to point out the littlest mistakes En made and make fun of him for it. And yet, any talk of leaving was immediately shut down. "Why would you leave? I only do this because I love you. I'll be lonely. I can't lose you like I lost your uncle." The uncle that En was constantly being compared to. "Look how pretty he was. Nothing like your ugly face." So En started wearing masks and the like to hide his face.
En became a very anxious perfectionist and hated his looks. Yet, there was one thing he had in common with his uncle: A love of heroes. He wanted to be one, but with how much his father made fun of his weak quirk, he knew he couldn't. Then one day, as he was walking in the park he was accosted by some villains and got so scared he lost control of his quirk. A hero saw the smoke and ran to help. Lariat. He complimented En on his quirk, the first compliment he had ever received about his quirk. He's so shocked he doesn't think and just asks if that means he can be a hero. Lariat shrugs and goes "Why not? Here, I gotta drop these guys off and then I can help you get started."
6 months later (they didn't require a lot back then) En becomes an underground hero. Naturally he keeps it a secret from his dad since he's not allowed to have a job or move out despite being 20. But AFO never paid him too much attention which allowed him to get away with it for a while. Until AFO saw him on patrol with Lariat. Now, En never knew his father was the infamous AFO. He figured he did some illegal work, but there was no way he could arrest his dad and as much as he wanted to tell someone, he just couldn't. When AFO comes out, En doesn't have time to react when he begins to battle Banjo, enraged by him having his brother's quirk and for being responsible for his son being a hero. (He jumped to conclusion on that one, having only seen them patrol together, but it's not like he's wrong.)
During the fight, it comes out that En is AFOs son and some stuff about OFA. And yet, when Banjo is dying after getting that building thrown at him, he still offers his quirk to En. He takes it, wanting to use it to honor his senpai, but he knows he can't do it then. He runs away from the scene to calm down, but he knows that he can't go home now.
Eventually, he finds someone who he thinks will make a good successor, just in time to face his dad. Only, instead of killing him, AFO tries to capture him. His son and brother in the same body, what a wonderful thing. Except he wants to do all sorts of experiments to see if he can get Yoichi to the surface without a lot of concern for En. AFO uses his spike quirk to try and pin his hand but En moves and...
Well, from here he either gets sliced in half (which leads to Nana getting the quirk and an au that mostly follows canon) or he dodges and gets captured another way, which would lead to a completely different world.

Respect or Privacy (1)
Tucker is excited for everything about college, even having a roommate for the first time. At least, he is until his roommate Danny turns out to be standoffish and a little bit of a dick. Whatever. It's a disappointment, but he'll survive. The same might not be said of Danny.
This is my first fic for Phic Phight 2024. The prompts I used were:
College AU where the characters don't meet until college and Danny has to hide his halfa status from his dorm roommate (your choice which character that is) [from @shadowfaerieammy], and Tucker fucked up. Hard. But it’s like, how the hell was he supposed to know that hacking the federal government was a bad idea? [from @lexosaurus]
You can also read it on AO3.
Chapter 1: Fuck Around (Chapter 2)
[No warnings apply]
Tucker was excited for college. After the nightmare that was high school (his dad's "just be confident and people will like you and treat you well" advice had been complete garbage), he was looking forward to a school experience where everyone had actually signed up for and more-or-less wanted to be there. He was looking forward to studying programming and information technology, and spending six hours a day on average hanging out with people who were just as interested in those subjects as he was.
Then, obviously, there were the college girls—big bonus to this whole experience. Lastly, he was looking forward to the dorm experience. He'd always been kind of lonely growing up. He was an only child, and he'd never had any close friends. Honestly, he'd been closer with his bullies than he had been to the other guys in the A/V club his mom had convinced him to join which was... embarrassing.
But all freshman were required to live on campus, and he'd signed up for a double room, meaning that he would have a roommate who would have no choice but to spend time with him, and as a result, they would have to get used to each other, and learn to live with each other, and inevitably become best friends—at least until the end of freshman year.
When Tucker reached his new dorm, room 416, he could hear grumbling and shuffling on the other side of the door. His roommate must already be here. He grinned as he opened the door.
"Hey, roomie!" Tucker greeted cheerfully.
His roommate jumped at the sound, and slammed a dresser drawer closed on his finger. "Fuck!" he yelped, and turned around with a wide-eyed look on his face like he'd just been caught doing something illegal.
"Uh... sorry," Tucker said. "Didn't mean to spook ya."
"Heh, you didn't... I mean you surprised me, but I wasn't like... scared...." He cleared his throat and gave Tucker an awkward forced smile. "I'm Danny."
"Tucker Foley." Tucker tossed his duffel bag onto the empty bed and gently placed his box of tech on the desk next to it. "Looked like you were struggling with that drawer, whatcha got in there?"
Danny's smile fell. "Look, I don't wanna sour our relationship right out of the gate, but that's really none of your business. I would appreciate it if you kept your nose out of my stuff."
"Uh... okay, sure," Tucker agreed. "Wasn't trying to be nosy or anything, anyway. Sorry."
"Good," Danny said, the tension in his body language easing slightly. "As long as you respect my privacy, I think we'll get along fine."
Tucker smiled, but he felt his heart sink. 'Respect my privacy' sounded a lot like it meant 'leave me alone', and 'leave me alone' was pretty much the same as 'I don't want to be your friend', which sounded a lot like all Tucker's hopes for dorm life flushing down the toilet.
"So where're you from, Danny?" Tucker asked. "Or is that information too personal."
Danny paused before answering, like he was genuinely trying to decide if it was too personal or not.
"Illinois," he said finally. "You?"
"Illinois, also. What town?" Tucker asked. "Man, wouldn't it be wild if we grew up in the same place and never met before? I'm from Elmerton."
"Elmerton? Ew," Danny said with a laugh. "I'm an Amity Parker. I'd rather die than live in Elmerton. Elmerton sucks."
"Hey! It may be kinda boring, I'll give you that much, but it's still better than haunted-ass Amity Park!" Tucker argued, thankful it seemed like things were starting to lighten up a bit between him and his new roommate. "At least I didn't grow up surrounded by a bunch of evil ghosts taking revenge on the living."
Tucker was laughing, but just like that, Danny's demeanor got cold and closed off again. Shit. Tucker let his laughter awkwardly trail off, wondering what he'd said wrong. Man, making friends was even harder than he thought.
"Is that all your stuff?" Danny asked. "Just the one bag and a cardboard box?"
"Oh! No! I still have some things to bring up; I left them with the dorm supervisor. I better go get 'em."
"Yeah, you probably should," Danny agreed. "I wouldn't put that much trust in the dorm supervisor, he seemed kinda shady."
"Er... right."
Tucker went down to grab the last of his stuff, and by the time he reentered the dorm room, Danny was gone.
He sighed. "Great first impression, Tuck. Well done."
Danny must've arrive much earlier in the day than Tucker had, because most of his stuff was already unpacked. His bed was made and everything. As Tucker's eyes wandered over Danny's side of the room, they were drawn to the bottom drawer of his dresser, the one he'd accidentally slammed his finger in, trying to make sure Tucker didn't see what was in it.
"I shouldn't," he said out loud. "Danny literally asked for one thing—that I respect his privacy."
Poking around now would be completely stupid. It would ruin my chances of ever being friends with him. Tucker reminded himself internally.
Still, he couldn't tear his eyes away from that drawer.
And he doubted Danny would be back any time soon. It wouldn't be dark for a few more hours at least, and Danny was clearly avoiding him.
Against his better judgement, Tucker knelt down on the floor and opened the dresser drawer, expecting to see sex toys, or lingerie, or something similarly embarrassing. Instead, he found strange, futuristic looking weapons and technology. It looked like alien shit. Was Danny secretly an alien? No, that was stupid.... Right?
Tucker slowly pushed the drawer closed again, questioning everything he knew about the universe.
He would have preferred sex toys.
No, they had to be earthly technology, because Tucker distinctly remembered seeing a logo emblazoned on everything that said 'Fenton Works'. All he had to do was look that up online and put his mind at ease. Danny seemed like a... fairly reasonably guy. There had to be a good explanation for him having a cache of high tech weapons in a college dorm. Although, to be honest, it wasn't looking too good at the moment.
Tucker unpacked his box of tech, set up his desktop PC set up and plugged in his laptop and PDA to charge. Then, he looked up Fenton Works, which brought him to an absolutely hideous orange and teal website for what seemed to be a small family business in Amity Park that specialized in ghost hunting and developing ghost hunting technology.
A sigh of relief escaped him.
Danny definitely wasn't an alien. He was just another paranoid Amity Parker, worried about ghosts attacking, even though they were all the way in Wisconsin. That was probably why he'd tensed up when Tucker made a crack about ghosts before. Tucker's dad sometimes went to Amity Park for work, and he said they were super serious about ghosts there, and didn't appreciate jokes about their haunting situation. Honestly, Tucker should have known better from the start, but he'd thought they were riffing. He hadn't gotten all offended when Danny made fun of Elmerton.
Whatever. He could apologize when Danny got back. In the meantime, he started programming his class schedule for this semester into his PDA, making sure there would be room for homework—and, more importantly, college parties.
As the days passed and classes started and the two of them both got busier, Tucker made an effort to talk to Danny as much as possible, and even though Danny smiled and responded politely, he always dodged any personal topics. Also, Tucker was pretty sure he was avoiding spending more time together than was strictly necessary, but he couldn't be sure. Still, he was determined for he and Danny to be friends.
"So Danny, I heard about this party one of the frats is hosting to draw in pledges," Tucker said. "Obviously I'm not planning to join a frat, but it could still be fun. Wanna come with me?"
"Uh... I'm not really a party person," Danny said apologetically. "I'm more of a bed person, enjoyer of sleeping and chilling."
"I get that, sure, but don't you want to meet people? Make friends? Maybe find a girlfriend? Or boyfriend, I don't judge."
"Thanks, but no thanks," Danny refused. "You have fun, though."
Tucker left it at that, but he couldn't help wondering what exactly was up with Danny being so standoffish. Did he have a problem with Tucker in particular, or was he just anti-social? It wasn't exactly unusual for someone not to want to go to a party. It could be that he didn't like crowds, or loud music, or being around drunk people, or frats in general. There were plenty of reasons Danny might not want to go—and no evidence that Tucker was part of the reason at all.
That didn't stop Tucker from wondering if he was.
That trend continued for the first month. Tucker would invite Danny to do something as friends, and Danny would decline for one reason or another, no matter what it was Tucker had proposed. Everything from parties in the dorm, to just going to get coffee or tea before classes, whether it was loud or quiet, crowded or solitary—even going to study at the library in silence, Danny always had a reason to say 'no', and Tucker was starting to take it personally.
"Okay, what's your deal?" Tucker demanded after Danny once again refused to join him, this time for literally just takeout in their dorm room—Tuck had offered to pay and everything. "Do you have some kind of problem with me, or something? I just want us to get along and shit, 'cause we're roommates, and we have to live with each other all year, but you keep shutting me down! So what gives?!"
"Nothing," Danny insisted. "Honestly, I'm just not hungry."
"Yeah, this time you're not hungry, but you refused laser tag 'cause you're not very athletic, and studying at the library 'cause you had other plans with your classmates, and coffee before class 'cause you don't drink coffee—even though I've literally seen you drinking coffee before!" Tucker snapped. "Dude, it's ten pm, and you haven't eaten since breakfast, you can't not be hungry, so what's wrong with you?!"
Danny flinched at the question, but Tucker couldn't feel too bad for mildly offending the guy who'd been blowing him off all month.
"Nothing," Danny said again, not meeting Tucker's angry gaze. "I'm just... I'm just a regular, ordinary guy. So go ahead and order takeout if you care so much, I'm not gonna stop you."
"No. That's not good enough," Tucker insisted. "I been trying to hang with you since we moved in, and you keep blowing me off for no good reason. So what's the issue? Is it 'cause I'm black?"
"What?! No!"
"Then what?! Give me one good reason why you're treating me this way?"
"Look, it's not about you, okay?"
"Oh, you're gonna pull out an 'it's not you, it's me'? I'm not your overbearing girlfriend, I'm your roommate, and all I wanted to do was get along."
"I don't want any friends, okay?!" Danny finally burst out. "I don't have any problem with you, I just... I just think I'm better off on my own."
All Tucker could do was stare in disbelief.
"I made up excuses because I didn't want to offend you or anything, because I didn't want us to be on bad terms," Danny continued. "We're still roommates. I know that, and I'm not so stupid that I wanted to torch that relationship right out of the gate, but I'm not looking for someone to be best friends with, you know? All I wanted from a roommate was mutual respect and privacy."
"Why?" asked Tucker at length.
"What do you mean 'why'?"
"I mean, why do you want to be alone all the time?" Tucker pressed. "I been there, and it sucks. It's lonely and sad and pathetic and people make fun of you for being some kind of defective human being who can't get anyone lo like you. Why would you want that?"
"I like my solitude," Danny mumbled. He was back to not being able to look at Tucker again.
"You're afraid," Tucker refuted.
"What makes you say that?"
"It's obvious," Tucker said. "I don't know why, but for some reason you're just fucking terrified of people getting close to you? So what is it? Are you terminally ill or something? Do you secretly just have a totally shitty personality? What?"
For a long moment, Danny was silent, but he did tilt his head up to look Tucker squarely in the eye before speaking.
"That's none of your business."
Tucker's forehead wrinkled and his mouth fell open incredulously. Slowly, he shook his head. "Fuckin' fine. Whatever," he said finally. "You want a roommate who'll leave you alone—you got it. But mutual respect is off the table, 'cause you just lost mine."

P.2 HH Lucifer-centric AU 13/?
STORY 1, PART 1, PART 2, PART 3, PART 4, PART 5, PART 6, PART 7, PART 8, PART 9, PART 10, PART 11, PART 12, PART 14, PART 14.5, PART 15, PART 16
Luci is the older sib among the Sins but he's the youngest among the Archangels.
I guess technically, he's the suffering middle child.
If y'all see a mention baby bro or little brother in the Prequel, pretend like you didn't see it ;laksldakl;
-----------------------------------------------
Perhaps Lucifer should've requested a 1 visitor per visit rule just like he should've expected that he's going to get tackled and suffocated in physical affection by the Sins and Charlie as soon as Belphegor opened the door.
Not that he doesn't like the hugs but he's just one tiny guy and he's pretty sure he's about to be buried alive under these giants.
Thank fuck for Belphegor for prying them off of him before he actually suffocated.
Belphegor: What did I say?! What did I just say?! What are you all? Children?!
A gasp and a coughing fit later, he finally calmed down enough to get his breathing steady. He thanks Alastor for the water, taking huge sips to fix his throat.
'Not to self: don't get buried alive. It's not a fun experience.'
He looks over at the now kneeling Charlie and Sins, head bowed as the Sin of Sloth relentlessly scolds them.
Belphegor: -powers in Hell and you can't follow one simple rule? May I remind you all what happens if I'm disobeyed while I'm treating someone?
All: Visiting rights will be stripped off.
Belphegor: That's right. And I am not above putting a ward on any of you to make it stay that way.
Never mess with Dr. Belphegor. As much as Lucifer is amused, he takes pity on his kids (his kids!) and speaks up to save them from the doctor's wrath.
Lucifer: I think they get it, Bel.
The kneeling demons cower as Belphegor sends them one last glare before huffing and went to typing something in her tablet again.
Beelzebub: Sorry for getting carried away, babe. We just got scared.
Asmodeus: Charlie's call really scared us. Did something happen in Heaven?
Satan: Tell me if that bastard Michael did this, I'll go to Heaven myself and beat his ass! In fact, I'm going over there right now. Open a portal.
Leviathan: Christ, Satan. Can you do one minute without thinking of doing something impulsive?
Satan: Don't say that name here! And fuck you! You're one to talk. Which one of us almost obliterated their ring in anger earlier, huh??
Lucifer: Wha- Levi??
Leviathan: I have no idea what you're talking about.
Mammon: Wait, is that why the elevator took so fuckin long to work? I thought I was gonna be stuck there foreva!
Charlie: At least you're all here now!
Charlie's wholesome sentiment made her aunts and uncles coo, wholeheartedly agreeing with her.
Lucifer: My duckie is right. Even though I said I was fine, you all still came for me. I'm starting to feel bad about making you all rush here every time I get hurt.
Satan: Don't you dare. No one is forcing us to be here.
Beelzebub: Right! Plus you always did the same for us.
He remembers those moments. When the rings formed and the Sins grew enough to move and handle them on their own, he was pretty lonely. Sure, he had Lilith, but children brought a different kind of joy with their company.
Plus, he loved indulging in others and all the children wanted was his attention, which he was always so happy to give.
The last person he would've thought to call him for help first was, believe it or not, Leviathan.
Levi had always presented himself as independent, acting like he's not as young as he was. Lucifer saw the aquatic demon's admiration for him, often mimicking how he talks, walks, and even dresses.
Lilith says it's envy (Because what else could it be, Luci? Isn't he the Sin of Envy?) but Lucifer knows better. He knows that Leviathan only looks at him in admiration. He looks at him like he hung the stars. Like Lucifer means something. Like he deserves to be looked at that way.
He doesn't but he's not going to tell young Leviathan that.
Anyway, Levi couldn't get the raging storms of Envy under control despite trying so hard. He was crying, begging Lucifer to believe that he did everything he could but nothing was working.
So he did what every good sibling/pseudo-father wouldo.
He drops everything and headed straight to Envy. In fact, he ran so fast he forgot to tell Lilith he was leaving.
Instead of fixing the situation himself, Lucifer chose that moment to teach Leviathan. He stayed in Envy until the other got it and not once did he berate Levi for not knowing something that wasn't even taught. It was his fault after all that Levi couldn't control it as he should've known that it doesn't come to everyone that easily.
The little scolding he got from Lilith when he came home super late was worth seeing a proud face on little Levi.
Lucifer: And I always will.
When it doesn't look like they're leaving him anytime soon, he figures he could just tell them now. He sat up a little straighter and internally braces himself for the expected uproar.
Lucifer: Heaven is on the verge of a civil war.
He winces. 'Way to rip off the bandaid, Lucifer.'
The room halted. They stared at him as they try to comprehend what he said just said. Then all at once, everyone bursts into screaming and panic, asking questions at him, at each other, at no one, at everyone. It was chaos and Lucifer can feel something rumble inside him. He figures Roo is enjoying all this unfold.
To be fair, he should've thought better than to say something like that out of the blue.
Lucifer: Sorry from dropping a bomb like that suddenly.
Satan: A bomb???
Mammon: Mate, that's a fuckin' nuclear one if I know one! The fuck you mean a war??
Lucifer: A civil war.
Charlie: What? How are we roped in it?? It's not because of the last extermination right?
Belphegor: You couldn't have told us this the moment you arrived?
Satan: Are we involved? Is that why Michael shot a freakin' laser through the sky??
Lucifer: No but-
Beelzebub: Oh god.
Lucifer: Guys, if you just-
Leviathan: Ozzie, how is our forces? Do you think we have enough manpower?
Lucifer: Guys-
Asmodeus: If it's only our fighting forces, then no. I'm sure a lot of demons would be willing to fight. Plus we have the firepower.
Lucifer: I-
Belphegor: Do we even know if angelic weapons would harm a higher ranked angel?
Oh for fucks-
Lucifer: Ê̵̡̟͔͉̱͓͓̪̝̫͙͇̞͛̓͐͒͒̎͒̋͘Ǹ̶̛͙̲̮͓͈̳̗̟̣̊̍͋́̇̀̋̐́̚̕͜O̷͇͔̒̇͋́͋́̓́͂́͆͋̅͘U̴̡̙̫͕̞̩͎̭̤̤͙̠̓̐̊̚͜G̵͖͇̘̘̩̟̗̠̬̐̈́͛́̾̈́̾̍́̈́̏͠͝H̶̢̬͉̯̞͇̯͈͙̜̬͚̟͙̊̈́͋͂̂̾̒̅̈́̆͊͗͂̚͝.̷̧͇͔͖̜̳̲̪̤͇̇͊͑̋͛̾̓͜͜
.
.
.
The room rattles from his voice. He stop his horns and halo from coming out. Lucifer can't see it but everyone else is staring at him in abject horror as his skin turned into a dark, glitchy mess.
He calms himself by taking in deep breathes until the fire in his mouth extinguishes.
Lucifer: Can I speak now?

I saw Cursed Child in London this summer without knowing what to expect (never read the script). I fucking loved it. I traveled to Munich, Paris, Euro Disney, Stratford-upon-Avon and London over the course of a month. I saw old friends and spent time with family. Cursed Child was hands-down the highlight of the whole trip. Certainly the thing that stuck with me the longest. Did the plot make sense? No. Did that subtract from my experience even a little bit? Absolutely not.
Harry Potter was never the reason I breathed like it was for some people. It wasn’t even my main fandom. But I grew up with it. I loved it. Deathly Hallows Part II came out the year I graduated high school. Afterwards, I moved on without much difficulty. Thought about it from time to time because nothing epitomized my childhood and growing up like Harry Potter. And then the opportunity arose to see Cursed Child and I took it. Insisted upon it to my family. One of the best things I ever did.
Because sometime in my 20s I realized I was gay. And as I now know, that’s something I have in common with Albus Potter. Harry Potter’s son, my childhood hero’s son, was gay. As far as me and my 65 year old father are concerned, Albus and Scorpius are as canon as Ron and Hermione. And that matters. It’s more than LGBT representation in Harry Potter. The fact that Harry’s own son is in love with Draco’s son matters so fucking much. It feels good thematically and it feels good for me personally. When it comes to that show, Delfini being Voldemort’s daughter doesn’t matter. A cliche time travel plot doesn’t matter. Voldemort/Bellatrix doesn’t matter. Albus and Scorpius matter. Their love story is the only thing that matters.
I’m sad that even post-covid audiences wanted more from them. Could they have kissed? Sure. Would i have wanted it? Of course, but they also didn’t need to. What I was already given was enough. More than enough. More than I ever thought to ask for or dare to hope for. I’m happy for Albus. So happy. Happy in a way that I wish I could be happy for myself. Not just for having a boyfriend but a best friend. I have been lonely in a way that Albus and Scorpius never had to be. And that makes me happy…and maybe a little bit sad.
Anyway, all this to say, I’ve spent the 5 weeks since I’ve been home losing myself in Scorbus fan fiction. I even wake up early so I can read before work. So if any of my fellow shippers have any recommendations, I would be very grateful.
(Yes, this long emotional post is just an elaborate way to ask for fic recs. Life’s too short for reading mediocre fan fiction. 😉)

Now that it's the start of a new year, I figure I may as well talk about something I said I would back when I first finished Lingering Echoes: the parallels between Ebenholz and Gertrude. Spoilers for the story of the event under the cut.
Both Ebenholz and Gertrude are from noble lines that lost their power and standing due to the defeat of the Witch King; Gertrude's family as followers of the Witch King, and Ebenholz as the bloodline of the Witch King himself. While they came to have different outlooks on their noble lineage, it still led them both to look at the world from a place of privilege.
Gertrude desperately clung to her privilege as a noble the way her father did, going as far as to assassinate her own brother to preserve the little power her family had left. Ebenholz came to despise his Noble position as Graf Urtica, but he undoubtedly still benefited highly from it. As much as he hated being called "coddled" - understandably so since he was essentially locked up raised with the intent of turning him into a useless figurehead - a gilded cage, while a cage, is also still gilded. His indignation at Czerny's criticism, his shock at Kreide's living conditions, and his not-uncommon use of his noble status to get his way all speak to his pampered life, as much as he hates the idea.
The greatest connection between the two of them however, and the point that inspired me to write this, is they both ultimately desire the same thing: Freedom, and more specifically, Freedom from the Witch King's legacy.
Ebenholz was experimented on as a child to become the Witch King's host, and then made into a figurehead with his title of Graf Urtica. He desperately wishes to be free of both the voice of the Witch King within him and his title of Graf Urtica, so much so that he was willing to go along with Gertrude's plan to extract his Voice of the Mundane, at least at first. Gertrude may have arguably been even more trapped by her nobility than Ebenholz; raised in a family that taught her to cling to whatever power she could, she saw no option but to bow to the loyalists of the Witch King because without the power and standing only they could grant her she would essentially have nothing. So she let them control her and played as their puppet until she couldn't take it any longer, until she gave up and decided she would have her revenge and freedom both. Her plan was essentially to lash out at the Loyalists; it wouldn't have destroyed the true masterminds - she admitted she didn't even know who they were - but it would kill the ones monitoring her, destroy the last of the Witch King's bloodline, and finally granted her the freedom she wanted through death. If she could have that, what does it matter to her if a handful of nobody Infected die? Her plan came from a place of callous privilege and suffering equally.
I believe that if the events of Lingering Echoes hadn't happened, if Ebenholz hadn't met Kreide and Czerny, he may have ended up like Gertrude: A bitter, arrogant, callous and lonely noble, blinded by their own privilege and suffering to the rest of humanity. When Gertrude made his proposal to him, he was so desperate he was willing to go along even though he knew it seemed shady, and although he did become morally opposed to it when he realized that the Resonance between him and Kreide's Voices was hurting the Infected, a large portion of his thoughts was on the possibility of him being implicated. I'm not even entirely sure if he would've said no outright to the idea of killing Kreide if him and Kreide hadn't bonded together throughout the story.
But that is where the crucial difference is: throughout the story, Ebenholz bonded with Kreide, came to learn how the poor and the Infected live and of their own plights and struggles, and was humbled by Czerny's lessons. Through all of this, he grew as a person, and came to realize he didn't have to be alone, that he didn't have to suffer alone, and that despite the tribulations he'd faced in life it didn't mean his life was defined by his suffering. While Gertrude's story was essentially about her giving up, Ebenholz was about him realizing there are things in his life worth carrying on for.
That's what I love about this event, and about Arknights. Just because a story ends in tragedy, doesn't invalidate the hope and joy and bonds that were made. We can still grow from it. We can still move forward.

♡ Summary: Y/N and Jin are planning to have another child but Jungkook (Y/N’s ex-husband) has some opinions
♡ Paring: Established relationship; Doctor! Jin x Doctor! Y/N; CEO Jungkook x Doctor! Y/N
♡ Rating: Pg-14
♡ Genre: Established relationship, child from another marriage, one mention of a sexual experience, swearing, exes, angst, and fluff
♡ Based on the one-shot; In The Lonely Hour
Y/N has been through a lot in the past four years. Jisoo is four years old, Jin asked her to marry her, Y/N was promoted and they finally bought the house of their dreams. The one thing that didn’t change was how much she hated Jungkook. Yes, he was her first love but that doesn’t give him leeway. He cheated on her and treated her like shit, something she will never forgive. Jin is better with Jungkook, he at least can be in the same room with him. Y/N only does it because of Jisoo. As the little girl grew up, she fell in love with Jungkook and even called him dad from time to time. She mostly just calls him kook. Jisoo knows Jin is her father, no matter what her DNA.
Today Jisoo was staying at Jungkook’s house for the weekend. Y/N didn’t want that to happen but everyone else was busy and Jin told her to trust Jungkook for once. She was being stubborn about it so Jin had to change her mind. After three sessions, Y/N changed her mind. They stood in front of the door waiting for Jungkook.
Y/N kneeled down and kissed Jisoo’s head, “You be good, okay?”
“Okay, mommy. Why do you have to leave?”
Y/N glanced at Jin who nodded his head. She looked back at her with a small smile, “You remember how you said you wanted a brother or a sister?
“Yes?”
“Well, your father and I have to make plans with doctors to make sure that happens.”
Jisoo dropped her bag and clapped her hands, “I’m getting a brother!?”
Jin let out a small laugh and leaned down kissing the top of her head, “Or a sister.”
“What?”
The couple looked up to see Jungkook glaring down at them. Y/N rolled her eyes and stood back up with an annoyed look, “Hello, Jungkook.”
“You guys are having another kid?”
“Trying, Jisoo baby go say hi to kook.”
Jisoo nodded her head at Jin and hugged Jungkook’s legs. His hard glare changed into a soft one when he glanced down at her, “Hey baby. Go inside okay, I have to talk to mommy.”
“Okay, kook.”
Y/N smiled at Jisoo as she ran inside with her pigtails bouncing with each step. Y/N looked at Jungkook with a raised eyebrow, “You need to talk to me?”
“Both of you.”
Jin and Y/N glanced at each other with raised eyebrows but looked back at Jungkook, “About?”
“You guys can’t have another kid.”
Y/N glared at him and crossed her arms over her chest, “How dare you think you have the right to stop us.”
Jungkook rolled his eyes at her and crossed his arms over his chest, “You're just doing this to get back at me.”
“Excuse-”
“Why would you say that?”
Y/N glanced at Jin who was glaring at him, something she didn’t like seeing on her future husband, “Because...It’s Y/N.”
She scoffed at this, “I want to have a baby with my future husband. This has nothing to do with you.”
“It does because Jisoo is mine.”
“What does she have anything to do with this?”
Jungkook leaned against the door frame and looked at them with an annoyed look, “You’ll forget about her because she's mine. You just want another kid that has nothing to do with me.”
Jin let out a sigh and shook his head, “Jungkook, this has nothing to do with you. Y/N and I want a child. We have to go to a hospital because Y/N had a lot of complications with Jisoo. We could care less what you think about this. We're going to have a child. I need you to support us through this because it's going to be hard, do this for Jisoo.”
Y/N smiled smugly and wrapped her arms around Jin’s arm, “Yeah, what he said.”
“You had complications?”
Y/N nodded her head and leaned her head against Jin’s arm with a sad look, “She was born prematurely...I also had diabetes with her. There was a lot wrong...but I would go through it all again.”
Jungkook's face softened and looked down at the ground, “You never told me that...”
“You never asked.”
Jin kissed the top of her head and looked at Jungkook with a determined look, “We want a child. We won't forget Jisoo. This isn’t a plan to get back at you or anything like that, we just felt like it was time. Jisoo was also asking for a brother or a sister.”
“Why does she want a sister or a brother?”
“Because she's probably lonely.”
Jungkook glanced at Jisoo in the living room, “She could’ve asked me.”
Y/N let out a small laugh causing Jungkook to whip his head to glare at her, “You don’t have anyone.”
“Don’t rub it in my face, I can easily get someone.”
“Then do it. Anyways, we have to go. We need to drive to the hospital.”
They waved goodbye and walked back to the car. Y/N glanced back at the house and shook her head, “He always thinks it's about him...”
“You can’t force someone to change love. It’s annoying but we can’t do much with that.”
They got into the car and Y/N leaned forward placing a kiss on Jin’s cheek, “I can't wait to have a baby with you.”
“I can’t wait for the future with you, Kim Y/N.”
