One thing I've not seen yet in discussions of Kipperlilly's reasons for hating Riz is how much it parallels the feelings of people born into priviledged majorities about 'diversity hiring'.
The way she thinks that having a tragic backstory makes you a better adventurer, when all it really does is hurt you, is exactly the way I've seen white cishet people complain that being in a minority gets you priority for job offers/grants.
The idea that having pain in your past from discrimination or trauma is worth it because you get 'more opportunities' in the working world from being a POC or LGBTQ+ or disabled is a genuine belief that some priviledged people hold. And to me that really mirrors Copperbitch Kipperbottle's jealousy of Riz both having a dead father and ESPECIALLY coming from a poor background.

"Well, that went down like a lead balloon."
Crowley did not sneak up on him this time, it was more of an ungraceful drag or stumble with one hand pressed against the still-bleeding cut on his stomach. Aziraphale turns his head to look at him, his eyes lingering on the soot and bruises smeared across his skin, but stays silent when Crowley shakes his head exactly once.
Don't.
"It did, rather," he says instead, as the space around them empties slowly but surely. Stopping the second coming had been exactly like the first apocalypse and nothing like it at the same time. They're both a bit singed, for starters.
"You think we overreacted? Second offence and all."
Crowley tentatively lifts his hand, grimacing when blood-soaked fabric sticks to his palm and tugs on the wound. It would barely require a miracle to heal it, but he is currently quite comfortable in the limbo of not knowing whether the destruction of heaven and hell erased his celestial powers or not.
"Someone had to teach them the real difference between good and evil," Aziraphale continues lightly, leaning into the twisted mirror of their first conversation on the walls of Eden.
"I'm pretty sure they regret sending me up here to 'cause trouble' by now."
Trying and failing to sound humorous, Crowley bites back a groan. Fatigue washes over him wave after deadly wave, and he considers simply allowing himself to fall to the concrete floor when a hesitant arm slides around his waist and pulls him closer, conscious of his injuries.
Crowley freezes for a second before leaning into it, processing the sudden influx of touch and heat as one big, blurry embrace, and it is such a welcome contrast to the painful reality scratching at his bones that his eyes flutter shut. Aziraphale holds him both gently and as if he is never going to let go of him again; unsurprisingly, he finds he doesn't mind that at all.
They stand in amicable silence, swaying slightly without really meaning to, and although both of them want to go home, they cannot imagine a place that would fit that description better than each other's presence.
"You did the right thing," Aziraphale eventually says, and Crowley forces himself to blink up at him, blue meeting gold meeting love.
"With the apple, and trying to make me see the truth, and with not coming to heaven with me. I'm sorry I caused you so much pain." His voice breaks at the end, trailing off into an ocean of unspoken confessions and feelings, but Crowley is pretty sure he couldn't handle more anyway, not right now.
He presses a hand against Aziraphale's cheek to tilt his head towards him, grimacing when he leaves bloody prints behind.
"Angel." It's a name, an endearment, a prayer, a decree, a question. A curse, and a plea, and a promise.
"I'm still mad," is all Crowley whispers before nudging their lips together, tasting blood, ash, and the dawn of something entirely unknown and new.
I still love you, is what lies beneath it.
For the first time in their existence, they're truly free. When it begins to rain, they tip their faces towards the sky and welcome it home.

the way i think about the homophobia vs relationship between wilson and house is that, first of all, house is not homophobic. transphobic? yeah probably but not the point. house makes terrible shitty jokes about everyone just because he can, but he never claims being gay is wrong or dismisses anyone's sexuality or anything like that. it's the same way he's always talking abt objectifying women but then whenever he's in a position to take advantage of a woman he never does. it's just talk. second of all, house and wilson Do Not Know. they don't realize that they are in love with each other. they don't realize that they've basically been in a relationship for over a decade. house MIGHT have some idea that he's not straight (which he denies or ignores) but wilson doesn't even know he's gay and refuses to even contemplate it. the writers might have tried to make a homophobic show full of gay jokes but they ended up with a character who is never what he says he is and a relationship between two people who are so repressed they have no idea what they feel for each other. hilson is canon not in that they are secretly kissing offscreen, but in that they have been in a relationship for decades and they mean everything to each other, to the point that they don't even know what the other means to them.

The moments where other criminals try (and fail) to threaten Jean Valjean are fascinating, because we get a glimpse of how deeply Valjean was altered by prison— how much nineteen years of prolonged torture really has made him into a “formidable” “dangerous” criminal.
If he weren’t a shy gentle compassionate person who just wants to be left alone in peace with his daughter, he could easily be the most deadly man in Paris. He’s strong, he’s cunning, he has decades of knowledge about how to evade police and a wealth of hidden tools at his disposal, he’s highly skilled at deception, he can fend off gangs of men at once even while unarmed and has perfect aim with a gun; he could do so much harm if he decided to, but he doesn’t.
I love how Jean Valjean seems to view Patron-minette’s affiliates as… amateurs? They’re bad criminals in that they’re bad at being criminals. When Montparnasse attempts to rob him, and when Patron Minette/Thenardier ambush him, Jean Valjean speaks to them with lofty pity and kinda implies he thinks they do not really understand how to commit crimes. He explains the galleys to Montparnasse like he’s lecturing a silly misbehaving child.
When he burns himself with the hot chisel, the implication is: “I spent nineteen years in a prison where I was beaten and tortured every day, and you’re naive and inexperienced enough to think you can hurt me with a single scrap of metal you’ve heated up in a fireplace. You poor things. Don’t be afraid of me because I’m certainly not afraid of you <3”.
Compared to Jean Valjean, Patron-minette and their affiliates really are kinda just …play-acting. I think that’s part of why they get all those comparisons to theater and Vaudeville. Thenardier is a failed innkeeper puffing himself up as the most dangerous and clever criminal mastermind in Paris. But Jean Valjean actually has decades of experience living in “the criminal underworld” of the galleys, and as a result he has more deeply traumatizing knowledge and experience than Thenardier can even begin to imagine. Thenardier fails at torturing Valjean because Thenardier does not have the experience to even start to imagine the torture Valjean has already survived. As I mentioned before, Valjean has all the skills and knowledge that Thenardier wants to have, but doesn’t. So it’s like….Jean Valjean is in many ways the kind of “successful expert criminal” that Thenardier is only pretending to be.

something something annabeth insisting that sally prepared percy in the best way she could for the world of the gods and made sure percy didn’t turn out like them… something something annabeth realizing people who care about you aren’t supposed to treat you that way… “eat or be eaten. power and glory and nothing else matters”… her saying she doesn’t want to be that way anymore… something about annabeth finding that unconditional love with percy and sally eventually.

You Don't See Me: Dojo Scene vs. Ruby's Breakdown
This episode was very powerful and was a long time coming. I don't have a lot of words in me to talk about it, but I did want to try and line up the parallels between these two scenes because the comparisons are very hard to ignore.
Lindsay Jones has gone on record multiple times stating that Ruby is someone whose "compartmentalization and internalization of her grief is what might eventually destroy her.” And we saw the dam break both figuratively (with Ruby's outburst) and literally (with the paper houses being flooded and washed away).
I had very few doubts in my mind about RG being endgame before this episode, but this volume continues to hammer it home despite, but also because of Oscar's absence. Ruby, who reached this breaking point by never feeling seen or supported by her team or her friends because there was always something else that had to take priority. Someone else who's feelings mattered more.
Ruby, who has only ever talked about her grief on screen without being interrupted once.
Oscar who was the only damn person to do it. To see through her mask and acknowledge just how hard this all is on her. I just. I gotta let the parallels speak for themselves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar: But this? Who would ask for this? - Ruby: Why do I have to be the leader anyway?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ruby: If it had been me instead, I know they would have kept fighting too. No matter how dangerous it was. So that's what I choose to do. To keep moving forward. - Ruby: No time, right? Gotta get home! Gotta help Jaune! Gotta find someone who isn't just going to screw everything up! Gotta stay positive, right? Smiles all around!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ruby: We just have to press on and- Oscar: How can you be so confident? - Blake: Guys, I know things are bad but- Ruby: Shut up. Don't... do that. Just don't.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar: How do you handle all of this? // How are you okay with any of this?! - Ruby: Why are you asking me? Because I'm the leader? Because I'm just supposed to have something to say? Cause I don't. I mean, why do I have to be the leader anyway? Why do I always have to be the one to pick people up?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oscar: This must be really hard on her too... - Ruby: What about me?!
That last one paralleled to the new song lyric:
No, you don't see me anymore
Her friends and her team do care about her. I'm not arguing that. But none of them have been able to offer Ruby the support she's needed. None of them have been able to foster an environment where she feels safe enough to open up about these things. There have been a few times she tried but every single time she got cut off or interrupted by something more important or someone else's feelings who mattered more. She has been dealing with her own kind of loneliness all this time. All alone in crowded rooms.
Oscar was the only one that saw it right away. The only one that brought it up. That pushed her to talk about it. That has stood up for her time and time again when these instances keep happening.
And for now he's not around.
that! reunion! hug! is gonna! hit! like a! bus!!!!!!!!

twitter going nasty about vessel's chin broke me a little bc my chin does the exact same thing and i've been thinking about how we have that little quirk of skin texture in common since i realized that on him. i've always hated it... until i saw it on him, the only part of his face that is visible. it's extra heartbreaking to me that even when you try to distance your human image from yourself, some people will come and pick it apart. vessel will never see those comments. but my face does the same thing and i did.
Hi, Anon 🥺 I'm sorry you had to experience that. I struggle a lot with body positivity, too, so just hearing about the Twitter bashing set me off. It sent me right back to earlier this year when several fans were finding pictures of Vessel unmasked and they had the audacity to be disappointed because he didn't turn out to be some extra sexy supermodel.
I really hope you're right and that Vessel will never see those comments, but they shouldn't exist in the first place. You and countless other people with a similar insecurity see comments like that and it's very damaging. I'm also aware it's not just the Sleep Token fandom and it's a massive issue literally everywhere, like people log into their social media profiles and suddenly they forget any and all manners and etiquette they've ever learned in their life 😡😡😡
Anyway, I'm gonna stop before I begin ranting. If you or anyone else needs to hear this: bodies are weird, and weird does not equal ugly. You're beautiful just the way you are, and don't let someone's random subjective views, photoshop, or filters tell you otherwise.

SPOILERS!!
Thinking about Pavitr screaming, "I can do both!" And how it seemed like he couldn't but he could, because Miles stepped in to help him and that doesn't subtract from the fact that he did both, because he is (WE are) just one piece of the puzzle that is dealing with adversity, which is something that can and should be done collectively because that is what it means to be human(s!!)
And how Miguel is so trapped in a hall of mirrors tormenting himself with his own suffering that he cannot see this, and he is quite literally in an organization surrounded by people who know very intimately his pain or at least have enough of their own to help him but he is distanced from them and his entire self-defined purpose is ensuring that everyone stays in their place and experiences their pain and shoulders it and they are only a community in the sense that they have experienced the same terrible things but not in the sense that they ever showed up for each other to prevent these terrible things because they all fail to realize like Miles instinctively did that if you step up for each other no one has to shoulder terrible events and emotions on your own and these tragedies that we all endure can and should be prevented we don't have to crawl through our trauma day after day alone just because that's the way it's always been done
And how at the end of the movie Miles ultimately abandons this beautiful, radical worldview and ends up more like Miguel because the betrayal from his friends makes him feel like he can only trust his family and only rely on himself so he's inadvertently come to join Miguel right where he is a kind of two sides of the same coin nemesis dynamic because he now thinks he alone can shoulder his pain and his strength is internal rather than the unstoppable strength that comes from working together and showing up for each other and even though externally they have separate goals internally they are now functioning fairly similarly AAAHH

Thinking today about whether alter Keith has a last name. Does he consider himself to have a family name? Does he think of main Keith's relatives as his as well?
Or does he consider himself a neutral being with no family or blood relations. Has he existed as only a shadow, with nothing to his name but a borrowed body?
We know he considers his birthday to be on the same day as main's. Does he even know what day he was "born"? Does he consider himself the same age as main? Younger?
How long was it before he could talk to someone as his own person? How long until his existence was acknowledged?
Did anyone aside from Liam know about him? Had he just gone through life without any friends or acquaintances?
Living life pretending to be the person you were born to protect. Never having your interests or preferences considered, except when you were alone.
But alter Keith hates being alone. Was he ever able to be himself and walk the streets of Jade? Of course not.
He was a person that shouldn't exist. Did he ever question his own humanity, his own personhood?
Was he ever resentful of being feared by the person he was born to protect? Being unable to communicate face to face for so many years. A violent guardian angel born to guard and protect before being born simply to live.
Disliked by the only ones who knew of his existence, yet caring for main Keith and the people of Jade in his own, strange way.
Was there ever anyone who saw him, loved him, before you? Or was he simply an untamed beast to those who knew him, never truly trusting his actions.
Was he merely a figment made to live in darkness, until he could come into your light?

Whumpee finally manages it. They lash out and injure Whumper for once, after all this time of Whumpee taking the brunt of it. They finally got just a little bit of payback.
Whumper doesn’t even flinch. A corner of their mouth twitches upward and they side-eye Whumpee.
“Oh, you’re going to pay for that one.”
But not yet. Whumper has to tend to their new injury, which they do with the same brutal efficiency that they use when tending to Whumpee’s more grievous wounds. Whumpee is surprised—they thought Whumper would have taken better care of themselves, or gone to see a proper doctor. But they don’t.
Whumper learned how to treat their own injuries because they were once a whumpee.

Something I often catch myself thinking about is Whelk seeing Noah as he was in the series. Noah, his former friend, similar in that Aglionby sweater but also very different. I was more when I was alive.
Would the age difference between them make Whelk wonder about what could’ve been? What should have been? What is wrong with this kid? Whelk wondered, and then immediately afterward felt strange that he had grown old enough to think of Gansey as a kid. Would he start seeing Noah as a kid that he had robbed of growing older like him?
Would Whelk realize that he had everything taken from him, then went and took more than everything from someone else?

In Six of Crows, Kaz dresses like a mercher instead of dressing in Barrel flash as a way of pointing out that he is no worse than they are. In Ketterdam, who is seen as "moral" is largely dependent on class. Rich merchers routinely perform the equivalent of the same actions that the Barrel inhabitants perform, yet the inhabitants of the Barrel are criminalized and looked down upon while the merchers are revered as oligarchs and often men of faith (they literally worship the god of capitalism). This contrast is clearly brought to light by the question Kaz poses to Van Eck during their first meeting at the start of Six of Crows, "What’s the difference between wagering at the Crow Club and speculating on the floor of the Exchange?”
Interestingly, much of Kaz's motivation for revenge against Pekka Rollins comes not from the desire for retribution itself but from the deep seated horror he feels at being just another victim of a common scheme. Dressing like a mercher helps make him into someone significant, rather than just another pigeon who got scammed. Kaz desperately wants to be more than just the stupid boy who was tricked.
Also interestingly, Pekka Rollins dressed as a mercher when pretending to be Jacob Hertzoon. The mercher black gave him authority and made him seem trustworthy, a reality that was quickly shattered both after the initial betrayal and when Kaz realized that "legitimate" banks that were likely connected to multiple reputable merchers aided Pekka Rollins in his scheme. However, Pekka Rollins, who is sometimes described as the King of the Barrel, typically dresses in Barrel flash, flaunting his criminal nature rather than hiding it behind the mask of mercher black. Kaz, however, chooses to wear mercher black, which is interesting when you consider how he is implied to be Pekka Rollins's shadow in Crooked Kingdom, so it's almost like the mercher black helps make him Pekka Rollins's opposite. However it also implies that Kaz is hiding behind a facade which is also interesting. Because he is. Armor. Hmmmmmmmm.

thinking abt Dyson
because why was he so fixated on the renegade? Well, I just ranted about this to my sister so I will tell you
He's offended by The Renegade's very existence. They're a mediocre copycat at best. He wants him gone, derezzed, erased. And why? Because he care about Tron, and that's complicated.
He's the one you looked up to, trusted implicitly, trusted with your life and health. He gets to make the decisions because he'll always make the right one, he won't let them derezz or get needlessly hurt, right?
But he does, Tron defended the ISOs. The ones who started the fight(debatable), who ruined his face. And still, Tron defends the ISOs because Flynn says so.
So he doesn't get it fixed. He waits for Flynn, wants him to see exactly why the ISOs are dangerous, get him to admit that the ISOs are an issue, not a miracle. Because, if Flynn admits that, changes his mind, then so will Tron, and everything will be FINE again.
But Flynn doesn't. He doesn't even seem to care, and just like that, he knows Tron will never stop defending the ISOs. He's lost Tron forever.
So they overthrow Flynn, because they have to. And they take in Tron because they need him. Sure, they could have derezzed him, but he's The BEST and Dyson still hopes he'll change his mind.
He tortures Tron, because he cares. They could rectify him, but he wouldn't be Tron anymore. He still wants him to change his mind, but he HATES that Tron still defended the ISOs. If he changes his mind, it might be okay.
He slices into his face, so they match. If they match, maybe Tron will get it, will see how much he suffered.
He creates a virus, so he can make Tron perfect again. Because if Tron changes his mind, joins Dyson, he'll be perfect. And HE wants to be the one to fix Tron. Not CLU or some medic, DYSON.
And then Tron dies not really but Dyson doesn't know that. And he's relieved. Tron is dead. And it's easy to love a memory.
Then the renegade shows up, and in the smallest, deadest part of your heart, he hopes it's Tron. But it isn't. He's weaker and stupid and overall worse. He Tarnishes the name of Tron and he can't abide by that. The Renegade must be derezzed.
But you're smart and cunning. You shouldn't care so much anyway. Luckily, you have an excuse. The renegade is a threat to CLU, even if a small, albeit annoying one. And you will win, just like Tron trained you to.
