Are there any stories you enjoyed reading as a kid, that you still enjoy as an adult, even if it's for different reasons now?😊
Hmmm sort of?? I was kind of an avid reader as a kid so I look fondly back on a lot of the series that I picked up like "The Tail of Emily Windsnap" or a "Series of Unfortunate Events" but I haven't reread them in adulthood. I watched the SoUE series on Netflix though and that show was deliciously frustrating in every way. When I have time, I definitely will revisit some of those series just for the sake of nostalgia and sorta for research because I want to write books of my own.
Like a lot of people, the Harry Potter series was such a formative story for me and it's one of the few I reread in early adulthood. The series, like any series has it's flaws, but it was really good. But that's not enough for me anymore. I just don't feel the same way that I used to about the series anymore mostly because of JK and her thinly veiled transphobia shenanigans, to put it lightly. Before her shenanigans were brought to light, I felt kind of weird about her retconning certain details in the HP series. But yeah. I don't wanna go on a JK rant but to put it simply, the story itself has a special place in my heart, but it's not like I'll be revisiting/supporting works from the vastly over-extended HP universe anytime soon.
I never read Percy Jackson growing up but everyone around me did. I always told myself that I'd get to it eventually and NOW I AM AS A GROWN WOMAN LOL. I'm on book 4 and it is soooooo gooooood. Wonderfully done. Again, this series has its flaws too but it's a great story. I think the difference between Riordan and JK is that when people called Riordan out on some of the iffy things in his book, he owned up to it and apologized which I think takes a lot of integrity and makes me appreciate his books more. I'm really excited to get to the 5th book and then the spin-off series!!!

Ellie is a Clone Misunderstanding
So, I' sure most of us have seen a story/prompt or two about Ellie being on the Teen Titans or Young Justice right? Here's my question, does she tell them about her being a Clone, or does she just omit that from her resume?
Imagine a scenario where Ellie is on a mission with her team (Let's say YJ for this). They are nearly done, when she gets hit by some type of Ecto-Weapon in the middle of the fight?
She is hurt, but shrugs it off and continues the battle. In the end, the team manages to come out on Top, and they return to Base.
The others are fretting over Ellie, asking how she is doing and if she needs ant help. She's never once been hit while in Battle, her Phasing Powers are stronger than even Miss Martian, so they are understandably concerned for her health.
She tells them that she's fine, and goes off to her room to rest, telling them to drop it.
Later that night, one of her teammates goes to her room to fetch her for Dinner. They knock on the door, but she doesn't respond. After a while, they decide to just open the door and find Ellie collapsed on the floor. She never made it to her bed.
They rush her to the Medical Station, and call in the League.
While there, they try to figure out what happened, but nothing comes up with the Weapon that hit her. (They took it after the battle for study)
Eventually, they get the results back from the Doctors. Her cells are dying at an alarming rate. Her energy levels are Unstable. Her DNA is deteriorating. She's Destabilizing.
She's a Clone.
All the evidence is there. Her DNA is deteriorating because she wasn't made complete, and her Cells can't keep up with the damage anymore because of that.
If this Ellie is a Clone, what happened to the Real Ellie? When was she kidnapped? How did they not notice their friend being replaced by a Clone?!
They need answers, and unfortunately Ellie isn't waking up any time soon.

Common Sense Villain Prompts & Dialogue
Thoroughly making sure their identity and name stays hidden
Using a gun in situations when it’s more convenient
Double-checking someone is dead or really is gone with no chance of return
“Untie me!” “Okay, what do you think my response is going to be? Hm?” “I… no?” “Exactly, use your head.”
A villain that doesn’t tell anybody about their plans except people they actually trust
Stealing items and then hiding it somewhere they know it won’t be found
“I’m not listening to someone who touched radioactive material and got powers.”
Not looking into mysteries for “hidden meaning” and doing their job
Minding their own damn business when it doesn’t involve them
Fixing their schedule so nothing overlaps
There is no such thing as a “self destruct button/lever/switch” that exists somewhere anyone could accidentally touch
“What if I gave you an offer, Villain?” “No thank you, I’ve seen what your offers look like before”
Leaving a scene right before things get worse when they know they have lots of time on their hands instead of rushing at the LAST SECOND
Not doing a dare no matter what
Reading the contract before they sign
“What was that noise?” “We should go back.” “But what if someone needs help?” “Fuck them.”
If Villain can’t see well, they would keep spare glasses with them at all times
Using someone else’s car to get somewhere because hell if their license gets revoked
Labelling ingredients and other items correctly and making them distinctive
Not monologuing or springing into a fantastical musical theatric display
^^^“Aren’t you gonna sing about your childhood and hard upbringing?” “Why would I tell you about my private life?”
Immediately snitching to the boss when they catch the traitor
Opting out of an activity they know will get them hurt
Not flaunting about anything to anyone because they know it’ll attract attention
Getting somewhere early
“I wonder who sent out this weird package?” “Don’t touch it and don’t bring it inside.”
When a machine starts leaking they immediately fix it instead of brushing it off
Looking for cameras and microphones in a hotel
Not having a top secret discussion outside in public

Not everything is what it seems
When Young Justice found Superboy, the heroes began to think, were there other similar places? Were there more cloned heroes? How had it all started?
So they investigated, there wasn't much to salvage from the destroyed place but they managed to trace the plans of the cloning pods to an abandoned mansion in Wisconsin. It appeared to be normal at first glance, although no one had set foot there in a while, that was until they got to the basement.
The basement was a mess, one side was destroyed as if something had exploded, on the other side were notes, capsules and DNA samples, though these were clearly useless, if the files could be trusted. It appeared to be old research, all of this was addressed at the weekly League meeting.
The worst part of it all was learning that the sample did not belong to any of them; what might have seemed like relief turned into torture when they discovered the existence of a "hero" in the past, a young hero who had acted before them all, and about whom no one knew anything. Another concern was a possible clone of said hero on the loose, though they didn't know how to address either issue.
Bruce couldn't get out of his head the image of a scared kid, out there without any support, fighting an evil version of himself. The League's priority was to find that boy immediately, and see if his clone was still active. They had to do something about it.
Most of them ignored Captain Marvel's advice to leave the matter alone, as it had been a long time and they didn't know the current circumstances.
At Amity Park, Danny felt a chill, he had a bad feeling. He decided to ignore it as he continued to scold Dan and Dani for using their powers irresponsibly, he knew the citizens of Amity wouldn't care, but the rest of the world would. Danny feared the world wasn't ready for them.
It really was hard being a single parent, although it didn't bother him, after the initial awkwardness everyone had adjusted and were quite happy.

Danny was confused
I mean, Vlad literally outright says his plans right at Jack's ears as clear as crystal but Jack somehow manages to wishy washy away from his head but when the Fentons had to go to a gala at Wayne's manor, Jack was all aware and perceptive around Bruce.
Turns out, they both were relatives and Jack didn't seem to like Bruce. Jack just could smell the "fakeness" around Bruce. But I guess it's because Vlad would actually slip his tongue and be honest, his voice and the way he acts, Jack didn't feel off when he is with Vlad.
But with Bruce? Naw.
Danny looks at Bruce and he seemed nice, a bit *weird* around here and there but he was still nice. But then again, he can't trust billionaires and just as Danny felt that untrusting vibe, he heard a disgusting voice coming from behind him.
"My, oh my, if it isn't the Little Badger?"
Danny narrowed his eyes, disgust was all over his face, "Vlad." he replied with venom.
And that's cue on Jack to wrap his arm around Vlad's neck and starts talking to him cheerfully just so he could get away from Bruce.
To Vlad's dismay, he went along with Jack. And to Danny's dismay, Bruce started a conversation with him. Then to Jazz's wondrous night, her and Maddie were outside to take a breather so Danny was all alone and unguarded and stuck with Bruce Wayne, introducing himself and his ward, [pick ur choice].
.......…
Btw, I also wanted for Clockwork to show up, saving Danny but that's just too much lelelelellel.

has anyone written a Loki series fic where Don the Jet Ski Salesman comes home one day to find his boys hiding something in the garage, and is tiredly like "is it snake? I better not go in there and find out you guys robbed a zoo--" only to open the garage door and see an injured, bewildered frost giant Loki prodding cautiously at a bag of doritos (the boys attempted to provide sustenance) (could be angst or good just be the version from the What If? episode trying to recover from a bender with Thor)

VH - Meet the Wife
Vampire Hero was insufferable. All his foes agreed on that.
So, after Supervillain escaped, the first thing he wanted was revenge. It was easy to locate Hero – it was not like this smug bastard was hiding. Currently, Supervillain was watching him by one of the windows of his home.
It was a nice scene, if a tad melodramatic. Hero was sitting by the bed – and yes, he was kneeling – holding the hand of a pretty woman who didn’t react. Supervillain knew that she wouldn’t. He had made an inquiry about her. She was Hero’s wife, and she'd been cursed.
“It’s a sleeping spell, and it’s not curable for now”, he’d heard from one of Hero’s colleagues. “She’s only awake one or two hours, poor guy. He basically turned good for her sake.”
Supervillain’s reasoning was simple. If you couldn’t attack your foe directly, you went for the weak spot. A hero annoys you, you kill his wife, the hero goes mad with grief, that was a classical story. He had a nice view from the window. She really looked like one of these virginal princesses you see in these old fairy tales books. It was not hard to imagine the girl with her hands clasped, pleading for the life of the innocents until her man relented. Yes, it would be fun to rip her into pieces.
After a while, Hero went off. Breaking into the place after that was easy. Supervillain opened the door, checked a couple of rooms, and smiled. He didn’t have to be careful. Even if the wife would wake up, she looked frail even wrapped in blankets. He tilted his head, looked at her, wondered if that was worth gloating when no one could hear him, then shrugged and stabbed his victim.
“Zdiiiiiiiingbonnng”
Supervillain’s eyebrow went up his hairline. He removed the blankets, leaving the body covered with only a silk gown, and tried again. The result was the same. The dress was damaged, but the blade bounced on the skin. Supervillain squinted.
Two purple eyes slowly blinked and stared at him. A skinny hand brushed over the hole in her dress. The wife yawned.
“Are you the delivery man ?” she asked.
Supervillain straightened up.
“I’ve come to deliver a message to your husband”, he answered. “I will not rest until I’m avenged.”
“Avenged ? You didn’t get a tip ?”
“I’m your husband’s mortal foe.”
She laughed.
“No, you’re not. You’re food.”
She opened her mouth, and Supervillain just had time to see a glint of her razor-sharp teeth before she bit his neck. That didn’t last long. After the first sip, she rejected him with disgust. Her thin arms threw him away much farther than the laws of physics should have permitted. He landed in the middle of the room, and not too softly.
“How dare you,” she said with a voice low enough to make the ground shiver. “You’re not even worth eating. A couple of centuries ago, young man, I wouldn’t even have wanted your head in a spike near my castle.”
Supervillain crawled back in the direction of the main door. She stepped towards him with as much enthusiasm as one would throw the trash out, but she stopped. Her eye had caught a note stuck on the fridge. Supervillain squinted. The note said: “Please don’t kill or maim in the house sweetheart ♡ (because of my job)”
The wife clucked her tongue and sighed, but reluctantly stayed still. Supervillain’s pride got the better of him. He stood up, dusting his cape, squared his shoulders and groaned:
“You have no idea who you’re dealing with. You might be strong, but I’ve wiped out cities. Once the country was nearly in my grasp. It takes talent. It takes guts. It takes more than powers that were given to you on a silver plate.”
“Nearly ?”
She gave him a look of absolute contempt and went back to bed:
“Don’t boast about your failures, little man, and leave me be.”
Incredulous, he watched her getting back to sleep, putting on her face something to shield her eyes from the light. It looked like a mask, and not a normal sleep mask, but a huge, heavy thing that glittered. As a vampire, he supposed she didn’t need to breathe, but still, it didn’t look comfortable. He stepped forward to take a better look. It was in metal all right, and it was a grimacing face of a demon.
His blood ran cold. He already saw that mask. It was depicted on a book he had as a teen, about the dark and evil rulers of the ancient times. “The Iron Death”, said the legend. “The gory story of an evil empress who drowned her captives in the blood of their subjects, and sought to be turned into a vampire so she would keep her empire forever.”
He shook his head in disbelief. It was an old tale, a story from at least a couple of centuries ago. And the Iron Death had been vanquished by a vampire hunter who had...oh.
Who had put her to sleep eternally.
He suddenly felt a drop of sweat on his forehead, but he grunted for good measure:
“Right. Like I’m going to believe that. Where’s your consort, Iron Death? Where’s your cruel prince who tortured for his entertainment?”
“The Hero agency offered him money to look after me if he worked for them”, answered the low voice of the lady. “My poor darling didn’t enjoy the scream of his victims as much as before. He’s changed his hobbies. You do that after a while. But I didn’t. Get out.”
Supervillain ran.

Vampire Hero is now a recurring character. His job is to troll current villains. (Yes, I know he technically doesn't appear here, but it still counts.) Check the Vampire Hero Masterlist or Tag for more snippets with him.

Hi I don’t really see this trope often, so could u do prompts for reformed villain x hero? But it’s totally fine if not
Oooo yes!
1. A reformed villain is partnered with the agency’s golden hero, making them feel terribly inadequate. What they don’t know is that Hero was also once a villain years ago.
2. Hero does not trust this supposed ex-villain. You can’t just wake up and decide you’re not bad anymore and act like nothing ever happened. But the villain’s surrender is very good for the agency so they are putting a lot of pressure on Hero to show ex-villain the ropes and make it work.
3. After Villain reforms and joins the Hero’s team they are constantly bombarded by the press. And not all of it is nice. Hero notices the way Villain panics at the pressing crowds, cameras, and microphones, so they set out to protect them from the attention.
4. Villain did something horrible to Hero when they were nemeses, but now that the criminal has reformed and joined their team. Villain, wanting to be on good terms with his new teammates, makes several attempts at getting close to Hero but finds Hero constantly pushing them away. Villain wonders how they can show Hero they’ve really changed.
5. Villain is riddled with nightmares from their criminal years. Since the hero team shares a dorm apartment, Hero overhears them crying out in the night and feels compelled to comfort them.
6. Villain and Hero dated briefly when they were nemeses, but ultimately split because their beliefs were too different. Now Villain, newly reformed, is on Hero’s team and neither can keep back the bitter jabs. Worse, they realize still have feelings for each other, though neither is willing to admit it to the other. It’s probably much too late anyway.
7. Hero helps Villain reform and thus feels responsible for them. None of the other heroes trust Villain, but Hero volunteers to mentor them through their first year until they get the hang of things. They also always makes sure to include them in get-togethers and parties with the others. It’s nice, but Villain can’t help but start feeling like a project.
8. Villain reforms right as Hero defects to villainy; now that their roles have flipped they begin to see new sides to each other and their dynamic, and it’s all very weird.
9. Villain may be reformed but they’re still going to do good their way. This is very aggravating for the straight laced hero they’re partnered with.
10. Leader was dating Villain in secret before they reformed. Now that Villain is on the team, they’re excited to finally be able to date publicly. However, Leader keeps rebuffing their affections and acting like there’s nothing between them. It turns out Leader is still afraid of what the team will think if they find out, especially when they’re supposed to be an example.
11. An absolutely feral villain is “adopted” (into the agency) by a sunshiny hero.
12. Hero has never been good at making friends and they’ve always been apart from the other heroes. But when a new hero, a reformed villain, joins the team, they finally start to make a friend.

I Can't Keep Up The Act
Pretending to be a reformed villain was the stupidest idea they could've imagined.
For weeks, Villain had been systematically tasked with only one objective: exploiting and destroying the heroes from the inside. It was brilliant; after all, who was more capable of manipulation than them?
However, had they put their mission first instead of their emotions, Villain might have never been in this situation. They sighed and locked the door in their quarters. Villain pushed their laptop out from beneath their bed and looked at the last email sent from their boss. There would be a power outage in the headquarters any minute, either today or tomorrow.
It was supposed to be a final attack on the heroes; villains had planned this event for months, and the invasion would happen soon.
They bit their thumb, still nervous at the prospects of the event. What was it? Someone once described this feeling as having a change of heart, but how could a villain like themselves ever betray their own for something like that?
Villain often caught their eyes lingering on Hero's small frame from a distance in the lounging area. They were doing that thing again. The one where they put up that big smile with laughter that just bounced off the halls.
It annoyed them, it was seriously pissing them off.
At the same time, though, they couldn't shake this feeling chasing them, dragging them, begging Villain to succumb. It must've been some kind of trick. They tried to convince themselves. This would all go away as soon as they heard the satisfying sounds of Hero break.
Their eyes stayed lingering on Hero, silently observing them. They had their suspicions from the past week begin to grow that maybe Hero was finally catching onto them, and that wouldn't be so good, would it?
"Good morning, Villain."
They glared hard at Hero's feeble attempt at fabricating their kindness. They rolled their eyes, frowning as they looked away, "It's the afternoon now."
"Oh…" Their hands fiddled at their shirt and looked at the clock behind Villain, "…so it is… I guess that's just what happens when I'm always working. Losing track of time and all." They sat next to Villain on the chair's cushion. What was the use of trying to cozy up to them? It wasn't going to work. Villain wouldn't fall for that.
The criminal wondered how long they needed to converse with Hero until they got the hint. Their eyes stayed glued onto the far wall as the criminal remained silent.
"You're kinda lucky though, you just got here so nobody really expectes anything from you."
Was that a jab at their competency? Did Hero think highly of themselves or something? The irritated faces they made didn't go unnoticed this time. Causing a scene right now wasn't in their best interests, Villain instead chose a different approach. They had to convince everyone they weren't a threat, even if that forced them to befriend Hero in some way. They seethed with a feigned smile through gritted teeth.
Hero reflected their expression back, but they had to admit there was a charm to this specific smile they didn't see Hero display with anyone else.
"Right…" Why were they reacting so poorly?
This was definitely some kind of tactic to get Villain to unveil their intentions; Hero knew what this game was about.
But that didn't explain the warmth comforting their heart so graciously.
"Actually, come to think of it, I don't think you ever got the opprotunity to look around the place to its fullest."
Their eyes lit up; that was perfect. Having a look around at the building would better expose all of its weakest points. Maybe Hero wasn't as brilliant as they'd assumed. This was their chance to return the layout information to Supervillain; they would no longer need to sneak around.
As they headed down the long corridors, Villain trailed behind Hero, admiring the cleanliness. Back in the Villain's base, or what was supposed to be a base, was really just a collection of scattered buildings and secret entrances to dark rooms. Villain grew solace in this, so there weren't any problems with it, but there wasn't any harm in respecting what the enemy's HQ was like.
"I had thought you were lying when you first got here."
Villain paused in their tracks. Hero's soft words caught them off guard. They almost didn't catch it at all. For some reason, it really stung to be doubted by their rival of all people.
"What?" They stammered.
Hero turned to them slowly, their eyes carrying shame and guilt, "I'm really sorry for distrusting you." Their hands moved around their head, and their eyes stayed fixated on the floor, "I mean, I know you said you were going to do better, and you did, but still…" they sighed, "I found myself questioning your intentions from time to time, but it turns out-- you really are getting better at this!"
They sheepishly laughed, that melody escaping from them, an irritatingly beautiful voice.
"Why are you sorry?"
Villain held their tongue. They didn't mean for those thoughts to escape them. Hero stopped and looked up.
"Well, I only have that to offer." They walked closer and took Villain's palms into their hands, "So, let's be friends this time. No more awkward tension between us, okay?"
Their brows furrowed with confusion; it was overwhelming for their worst adversary to tell them all this now. There wasn't any time for them to negotiate their feelings. They had a mission to lead, and Villain's part was crucial.
If anything, they should apologize for misleading Hero like this and still faking it. Did Hero honestly fall for all of this?
They were awful.
"Yeah… Thanks for believing in me, I didn't think you would appreciate my company. It's good to know we both feel the same way about this, then."
It must have been a sickness to be so bold to keep lying to Hero like this. It must've been. Even though they were confident that watching Hero's pretty face turn to horror would be their dopamine earlier today, Villain was disgusted at themselves.
"I guess we do."
Hero's hands. They were so warm.
Or was that just them again?
Villain really couldn't tell. All they knew in that instance was that they would protect their hero no matter what changed in the plan.

“What are you doing to them?” Brainwashed | Hanging from their wrists | Phone call
It felt like their brain was vibrating. All they could hear or feel was an endless buzzing, like all their atoms were trying to pull apart from one another. It was overwhelming, muffling any sensations from the outside world. They couldn't hear, they couldn't think. Their brain was vibrating.
It’d hurt, before. Or they thought it had. They couldn’t remember much before the buzzing had started, but they remembered struggling against the feeling. Had they fought because it hurt? Because it was bad? They didn't remember.
They didn’t struggle now. They didn’t know how, when the entire world was vibrating.
It was like bees had taken residence in their skull; not to harm it, but to reshape it. Everything useless was tossed away, the gaping holes being filled with honey. They’d fought to stop it, but then the memory of why they were fighting had been drowned in sticky sweetness.
It was dizzying and disorienting, it put their teeth on edge, but they didn’t know if it hurt. They couldn’t know anything, not when their brain was vibrating.
They heard voices somewhere outside of their hive they’d become, distant and nearly drowned out.
“What…what is this? What are you doing to them?”
“Hero, you’re aware of our reformation project, yes? Villain is our first patient.”
Just barely, they could hear the voices approaching.
“I–So you’re what, brainwashing them? Is this ethical? Does it hurt?”
Yes, the thought bubbled through the buzzing, it does, please it–
”No, not at all. It’s entirely painless.”
–doesn’t hurt? No, it doesn’t, but didn’t it before? They weren’t sure anymore. The question was being thrown away alongside the other trash, swallowed up and drowned out. They quickly lost hold of it.
Something touched a distant part of their body, and it took a long moment for them to realize they were more than their buzzing skull. Something had been holding their arms aloft, and with a click, it released. They nearly fell forward without the support, but something wrapped around their face held them up, pulling at their scalp.
“Villain, can you hear me? It’s Hero,” The voice was back, closer, but still muffled by the chaos in their mind. It felt like the voice reminded them of something, but they didn’t know. The part of their brain that had known had been scooped out and replaced, leaving barely the shape of a memory.
Something clicked, the noise echoing in the mind, and the buzzing sharpened. They shivered at the sensation of their brain finally sitting still, the see of static shifting into an organized effort.
“Stand up,” The voice wasn’t muffled by the noise, it was the noise. The vibration was shaped by the words, speaking with power that they felt in their bones.
It was a relief, and they chased after that peace. They stood on legs they hardly remembered they had.
Something was moving on their head, whatever had been wrapped around their skull being removed. The world exploded into color, the change taking them a moment to adjust to. When they opened their eyes, two figures stood before them.
The vibrating was already coming back, their moment of peace fading. But then one of the figures clicked a button they held in their hands, and everything sharpened.
“Tell me, who are you and what do you want?”
They hadn’t known the answer seconds ago. They still didn’t know, and yet the truth formed in their mind. After the disorientating chaos, the confidence they felt at their answer was a comfort.
And outside of the angry hive Villain’s mind had become, Hero watched, a horrified onlooker, as their former foe’s face split with a vacant, dull-eyed smile.
“My name is Sidekick, and I want to help you in any way possible.”

Reformed enji todoroki being delusional? I am intrigued
Tumblr media
I’m glad you are!!
But once he has this revelation about how horrible he’s been (up until he actually reached his goal)
he’s so bent on fixing his relationships he’d let you get away with so much
Romantically as an assistant or as his beloved sugar baby he finds himself falling for he’s not afraid to finally make least of all his beloved happy
For platonic, no matter which age you are he’s working the hardest to make sure your pleased with him
“Hey Enji, do you mind if I go outside for a bit? I haven’t seen the sun in sooo long.”
“..yes…You love your nature walks don’t you?”
“Uhhh sure, yeah.”
Even if he had you trapped and locked away before his realization after he gives his ‘ima do better, promise’ to Shoto
You can quote him anytime he restricts you against
“Uh you did say you’d try being a better father right?”
“I did…I’m sorry I ever doubted you (Y/n). Here's my platinum card.”
A lot of his rationality goes out the window because he’s so fixed on doing better he’s willing to let you get away with a lot
But on the flip side of that he starts warping situations to make him ‘good’
After all a ‘good’ father is present in your life
Or a ‘good’ ex-husband will buy you a new car because its just how ‘co-parenting should be’
He’s not as delusional as Deku is
where you can say “Apples and Bananas” to Deku and he’ll hear “Marry me, Deku!”
Reformed Enji is more like “You may have apologized but I still want to maintain healthy boundaries.” he’ll hear you but rationalize that your young and just a little frustrated
“I see…I’m never going to neglect you ever again!”
“No no I liked it when you were doing that.”
“No need to be hesitant..I understand your worries.”
“Ugh.” *facepalm*
