Exile 1. So long and goodnight
Tumblr media
Summary: After Steve Murphy's unforgivable death in the never-ending fight against Pablo Escobar, Javier Peña finds himself stuck with a new partner. A girl that they brought from Miami. Smart, devastating, strong. Nothing he would have thought her to be. Their rivalry builds up to something intense, destructive.
CW: canon violence, mentions of death, smoking and drinking, language, bullshitting my way through the Narcos plot, no y/n (3rd person), no physical and racial descriptions of the girl, eventual smut. 1500 words. Divider by @cafekitsune Masterlist for exile Notification blog
Tumblr media
He can’t look at anyone in the church. But he feels the weight of their stares. The weight of the unsaid words, the weight of “it’s your fault”. He couldn’t protect the gringo. He was too fucking late. And now he was laying in his casket, stab wounds hidden under a painfully black suit. White face even whiter under the powder hiding death. Stillness incarnated.
When the priest starts talking, it’s getting too real, death’s hands reaching for his neck. He leaves to breathe. Sits on the concrete stairs and lights a cigarette. He doesn’t realize he’s crying until he feels salty water sliding down his cheeks. He curses, uses his wrist to wipe them away.
He doesn’t know how long he’s there until he sees the people starting to come out of the church, a party of various shades of blacks. When Connie sees him, she heads straight to him. She’s in tears, understandably. And she grabs him by the collar, brings him up and looks at him with all the pain she has. He lets her. He understands. When she’s done, he hugs her, begs for her forgiveness. He knows she doesn’t forgive him.
But he tried.
So he leaves.
Tumblr media
She’s sorting through files when the boss calls for her. Her heels clack against the impersonal tiled floor as she gets to the main office. She sits down, crosses her legs while she assesses the man’s expression. Is she in trouble? No, she doesn’t think so.
“Thank you for coming so fast. We think you should get more… hands on in the Pablo Escobar case.”
“Meaning?” She asks.
“You’ll be sent to our office Bogotá. There’s a free position for you there. You’ve been good at dealing with the narcotics crisis here in Miami. But we think that keeping you here is wasting your potential. You’re a smart girl.”
She feigns her surprise, like she hadn’t hoped for this position and worked towards it for years now. She gets up and shakes hands with her boss, her grasp surprisingly strong. She smiles like a hungry wolf.
“When do I leave?”
“Can you leave on Monday?”
That left her a week to get ready.
“Yeah. That’s enough for me to do my goodbyes and pack.”
She didn’t have much. She lived alone. Her family was scattered.
“Then, I suggest you go home early and start packing.”
“Thank you.”
With that, she leaves and goes home. She already had multiple luggage stored just in case. She knew her job was something fragile. She knew that she would have to leave one day or another.
She calls her mom first.
“Allô ma chérie? Tout va bien?”  (Hi honey, is everything okay?)
“Oui, oui… je voulais juste te prévenir que j’ai été transférée à Bogotà. J’ai eu une promotion. ” (Yeah… just wanted to tell you that I got transferred to Bogotà. I got a promotion.)
“Oh mon dieu ! C’est super. Je suis fière de toi. ” (Oh my god! That’s amazing. I’m proud of you.)
“Merci. Je suis désolée que ça m’éloigne encore plus de toi. ”  (Thanks. I’m sorry to go even farther from you.)
“Si c’est ce que tu veux, ma chérie, je suis contente pour toi. Tu vas prévenir ton père? ” (If that’s what you want, honey, I’m happy for you. Will you tell dad?)
“Oui. J’irai le voir demain. Je pars... Lundi prochain.” (Yeah, I’ll try to see him tomorrow. I’m leaving… next Monday.)
“D’accord. S’il te plait, fais attention à toi. ” (Okay. Please, take care of yourself).
“Promis.” (I promise).
She hangs up the phone and stars packing under her cat’s worried and piercing yellow eyes.
“I’ll bring you with me, don’t worry Riri.”
The black cat purrs and curls around her ankles.
Tumblr media
“I know that Agent Murphy’s death is so recent, but we have to keep moving, Agent Peña.”
“Of course.” He offers coldly as he lights his cigarette.
It had been a rough couple of days. But when he got back to the office, he had to do as if nothing happened. The show must go on. Escobar didn’t wait. He kept getting richer and richer.
They couldn’t mourn. There was no time.
“We assigned you a new partner. She’ll be here on Monday; you must get her at the airport. The usual. Her name is –”
“Wait. She?” He frowns as he sets his cigarette down, some ash escaping the tip.
“Is that a problem, Agent Peña?”
“Are we sure… she’s fit for the job?”
“Believe me. She is. Or else she wouldn’t be transferred. She worked on the case from Miami.”
“Look… I don’t wanna question your decisions, but –”
“So, don’t. You’ll pick her up Monday afternoon and you’ll make sure she moves in next to you safely.”
“Yes, sir.”
Tumblr media
Emptiness filled her space now. She packed her bedroom already, keeping only the necessities out until the last minute. Her dad had taken the news surprisingly well, he knew how important that job was too her. And maybe, just maybe, she would meet nice people there. She would be less lonely, he had said.
Her dad worried for her. Constantly suggesting she gets a partner, but she brushed him off. This job wasn’t fit for partnership.
She left on Monday in the early morning, her possessions fitting in two big luggage, a carry-on bag and a cage for Riri. The rest of her life, she left behind. The flight went smoothly, and she slept for most of it.
Her new work partner was supposed to wait for her at arrival. So, she looked around to find someone who would have her name written down on a cardboard sign. She finally finds him.
He’s not the tallest man. His body is lean. He has dark hair, gelled down. He has thick sideburns and an equally thick moustache. His lips are pouty, and she can’t see his smile even as she approaches. His nose his generous in size, so are his deep brown eyes. He’s dressed casually but professionally: a light-colored shirt that stretches over his shoulders, dark-washed jeans, and a brown belt.
“Agent Peña?” She offers her hand, but he looks at it and doesn’t take it.
Lovely, she thinks.
“First lesson. Don’t mention our job here.” He says as he gets closer to whisper. Her arm goes back to her side. His breath smells vaguely like mint with a hint of cigarette.
“You’re coming here to teach English. Got it? Do you have all your luggage?”
He looks down at the cage and rolls his eyes as he sees the black cat staring back at him defiantly.
“Yes.”
“Then, let’s go.”
She lets him do the talking, communicating in perfect Spanish. She acts like she doesn’t speak a word of the language to make her character more believable.
Even when they’re in his car – a black Jeep, he doesn’t pay much attention to her. She keeps the cage on her lap to reassure her cat, who seems to hate her new co-worker already, hissing at him.
“Can I have your first name?” She asks to try and strike up a conversation.
He barely looks at her through his yellow aviators. “Javier. But let’s keep it professional and stay on a last name basis.”
“Wow. I feel so welcomed.” She says sarcastically.
He parks the car abruptly – at her new home, she presumes, and turns to her, lips fused in one line that shows his annoyance.
“Look, I can send you back home if you don’t feel welcomed enough, princesa. But we don’t have time for this shit here. You won’t have a castle. You’ll stay in a shitty apartment next to mine. And you won’t get a carriage with beautiful horses. You’ll ride with me every day. So, try to make this fucking bearable, will you?”
“Trou de cul.” She mutters under her breath.
“What was that?” He asks with a cocked eyebrow.
“Never mind.”
“Let’s go.” He says as he slams the car door behind himself. He takes most of her new partner’s luggage, and she’s left with her carry-on and her angry cat in her hands.
Javier unlocks the door, and it’s almost like it protests with the noise it makes. But she doesn’t make any comment. The apartment is so unbelievably grey, but still warm, like someone just had left. But she didn’t ask questions. The man parks her luggage in the entryway, and she lets the cat out to explore. It spits at Javier before it runs away, tail up in the air.
“We leave at 7 AM tomorrow. If you’re late, I’m not waiting for you.”
“I won’t be.”
“Good. There’s a grocery store three streets from now. I hope you speak Spanish because they don’t speak English.”
“I do. Or else why would I take this job?”
“Right. Don’t play smart ass with me, chiquita.” He says as he clicks his tongue in disapproval.
“Thank you, Agent Peña. Now, if you’ll let me…”
“See you tomorrow.”
And just like that, he’s gone. She finally breathes. What a fucking asshole.

INFRUNAMI
——————————————————
Modern college fem!reader x Modern college (lightskin)!Lo’ak
WARNINGS: Loak being REAL down bad, some angst(?), fluff, Lo’ak being Lo’ak.
Summary: Lo’ak messes up, again, and finds a different way to apologize to reader.
——————————————————
this was the fourth time. the fourth time Lo’ak had promised to do something and didn’t fulfill that promise. and you were tired.
Lo’ak had promised to take you out on a simple date to make up for the other three he forgot about. But he hadn’t shown up for this one. So you were stuck walking back to your dorm in the rain. You even chose a totally cute outfit! but nooo, Lo’ak had to be Lo’ak. you scoffed walking into your dorm building, a chill running down your spine from the cold air hitting your damp skin.
you were going to kill him.
you sighed, unlocking your dorm and walking inside, thankful your roommate had left the heat on. (for reasons? who knows.) your phone buzzed as you threw it onto your bed. already knowing who it was. but this time you were too upset, you weren’t going to forgive him this easily.
——————
you sighed walking out of the shower as you dried off your hair walking back into your bedroom. you changed into some simple pjs before sliding into bed plugging up your phone without turning it on.
For now you would try to get some sleep and not think of your brick head of a boyfriend.
Sadly not more than 30 minutes later did you hear noises from you window. you groaned ignoring them and turning over, pushing yourself deeper into your bed to try to ignore the noise. but it wouldn’t go away. it was like a bird poking against it.
Finally you groaned sitting up and opening your shades. you prayed it wasn’t a serial killer, you had a test tomorrow.
you raised your eyebrows noticing Lo’ak, a tired Ao’nung, and Spider. who was holding a speaker.
“Lo’ak what the hell are you doing?” you whisper yelled down to him, the height wasn’t that far seeing you were on the 3rd floor
“Ma! im sorry! I didnt forget this time though i swear! Basketball ran a little late an-“ you rolled your eyes ready your close your window again.
“wait! wait just hear me out okay?” he yelled before turning to Spider as he clicked play on his phone. Infrunami started flowing out of the speakers, a sigh leaving your lips as you realized what he was doing. still, you couldn’t fight the smile growing on your face.
“girllll, your one the I want your the one I need.”
Lo’ak sang, that stupid smirk on his face as he put on shades, god he was so corny.
“i’m begging you please..can you come back to me?”
“cause i was blind to see, that you were right in front of meee.”
A giggle escaped your lips as Spider and Ao’nung joined along singing as back up “you were right in front of me.”
“you were right in front of me, girl” The three of them swayed together as they sung, you fighting to ignore the butterflies in your stomach as you rolled your eyes. but no matter what Lo’ak always found a way to win you over.
As the song ended Lo’ak looked up at you with hopeful eyes, “so..am I forgiven?” he asked out, nervous that his little song didn’t work out.
“your forgiven. but Lo’ak if you ever-“
“I know ma i know! it will never happen again.” he smiled up at you.
God, did you love him.
——————————————————

rolex // jay (ENHYPEN)
Tumblr media
pairing: jay x fem!reader
genre: fluff and a bunch of cute stuff tbh // warning: nothing except mentions/appearance of food! // wc: ~1.5k
summary: spending absolute quality time with a potential new love interest... who seems to keep throwing questions that feel like hugs.
author’s note: if you have read quiet, this fic takes place after that! it is also the first in the series of stories inspired by one of my favorite singers, Camilo. I also started this fic because I saw this post "questions/sentences that feel like a hug". I marked the questions by putting them in bold.
if you check my masterlist, the next three titles after rolex is also the name of Camilo's songs. I put snippets of the lyrics in the beginning of each fic. maybe I should start naming this the Camilo-inspired series of Jay x Y/N? idk. anyway as usual, reblogs and replies are very much appreciated! and check out the song rolex it's reeeeally good!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don’t want to know what time it is
I threw away my watch and it was a Rolex
I cancel everything, all my plans
Spending time with you is more important
The sun was shining and the sky casted the most perfect blue shade. At the end of the road, Jay saw his destination—a small and cozy bakery with an indoor-outdoor seating and woody aesthetic—and the person he was looking forward to see already sitting by the window.
As the door was being pushed open, the dainty jingle of the bell distracted Y/N from her phone. She waved to Jay who immediately made his way to her table.
“God, sorry I’m late. I left my watch,” Jay set his bag on the empty chair in front of Y/N and took off his jacket.
Y/N waved her hand, brushing it off. “I just got here.”
It was a lie, but Jay did not need to know that. The fact that she would always come early to any place no matter who she was seeing at the time is something Jay had not learned yet.
“It’s been a while! How have you been?” Y/N asked as her eyes followed Jay’s movement as he takes his seat.
“Work has been busy but fun,” Jay seemed distracted as he looks around the bakery and then towards the glass of iced tea in front of Y/N. “Are you hungry? Should I order something for you?”
Jay swore he saw a twinkle in Y/N’s eyes when she blinked before answering him. “Oh, I’m not that hungry, but I do want something sweet.”
Jay nodded and quickly scanned the glass box filled with pastries and cakes not far from where they are seated. “Split a slice of cheesecake with me?” he suggested.
“Oooh, yes please,” Y/N sounded way too excited than she should and Jay let out a hearty chuckle.
Minutes later, both their drinks are half empty and Y/N’s fork is set on the side of the plate with the cheesecake almost gone. Jay barely ate his half. Their topic of conversation varied from trivia about high fashion, TikTok trends, and Marvel characters.
When it came to personal affairs, Jay was not expecting that Y/N would open up to him real fast about her past relationships. She mentioned a couple of names he was not familiar with, and after carefully listening and exaggeratedly reacting to her dramatic stories of her exes, he decided to shoot the question he had on the back of his mind for so long.
“Forgive me, but I gotta ask…”
Y/N’s straw almost got stuck in between her lips as she tried to contain the surprise from the sudden change in tone.
Jay asked the following question with a significantly lower volume than his normal speaking voice.
“So Namjoon sunbaenim is really your ex?”
Y/N basically snorted trying to hold in her chuckle. “What do you mean ‘really’?”
Jay tilted his head and brought his hand to his neck, unsure if he had done the right thing by asking. “I mean, the members and I were just assuming…”
“Tsk…”
The way Y/N clicked her tongue sent a chill down Jay’s spine and he honestly thought he was done for.
“Well, I… I didn’t want to spread rumors. It’s just that, there wasn’t really a way to confirm…”
“What like you think I was just delusional thinking that THE Kim Namjoon is my ex?”
Y/N’s tone sounded cheery and it immediately clicked with Jay. She was cool enough to play it off. Before Jay could find a better direction to steer the conversation into, Y/N nodded and tapped her fingers on her glass.
“Did you ask him first?” She glanced at Jay who did not break eye contact before nodding. “I thought we were being discreet. I wonder why he told you.”
Because I was basically asking for permission to make a move. Jay shrugged and played with the straw in his drink.
They were supposed to stay for an hour and a half, but as their conversation continued to build, the sky became darker, and the grey clouds finally turned to heavy rain. Y/N’s eyes widened as she saw the mini storm unfold before her.
“Oh, no, I’m not wearing the right shoes,” she sighed with worry.
“You do have an umbrella, don’t you?” Jay glanced at Y/N’s handbag that looked deceivingly small.
Y/N nodded. “But the rain is too heavy to go through.”
Jay nodded. Then stay a little longer.
“Maybe we should stay a little longer? Do you have somewhere you have to be?” Y/N looked back at Jay and blinked as she waited for an answer.
Yes! Thank you, rain.
“Yes. I mean, no! Not until a couple of hours,” Jay tapped his phone to check the time before its screen went black again.
The temperature dropped as the rain made their surroundings damp, and the air conditioner in the bakery suddenly felt a little too cold for Y/N.
“Should have worn socks,” Y/N sighed looking at the aircon and then down to her legs. Her linen button-down also seemed to be the wrong choice of top for today.
Without missing a beat, Jay carefully took the jacket he hung around his chair and handed it over to Y/N. Y/N’s face looked astonished.
“Oooh, what a gentleman. I won’t say no to this,” she smiled and nonchalantly put Jay’s jacket on her shoulders, without putting her arms in the sleeves. Jay tried his best not to blush.
They continued to carry the conversation for what felt like hours, occasionally glancing out the window to check if the rain had stopped. When it did, Y/N excused herself to go to the restrooms, and by the time she got back to their table, Jay claimed he had already paid.
“How much do I owe you?” Y/N reached for her wallet in her bag. Jay shook his head.
“Don’t worry about it.”
Y/N took Jay’s jacket off of her and handed it back to him. “By any chance, are you wearing Jazz Club?”
Jay’s eyes widened in shock and Y/N found it so funny that she laughed.
“You recognize the scent?” Jay sniffed his jacket, not realizing he did have a faint smell of the perfume he sprayed on last night.
“It’s a memorable one,” Y/N grabbed her bag and hung it on her shoulder. “It suits you.”
Jay could not muster a thank-you so he just smiled really wide. They both stood up to exit the bakery and as they were about to walk out, Jay held the door open for Y/N.
“How are you going to get back home?” He asked, leaving the door to close behind him.
Y/N started walking carefully, looking up to the sky making sure the rain really had stopped. “I’m just going to take the subway. There’s a station nearby.”
“Do you want to walk there together?”
Y/N tilted her head. “Are you taking the subway too?”
“No, the company car.”
For some reason, Jay’s eyes looked hopeful, but Y/N did not want to make him walk all the way when she knew he had to go the opposite direction of her.
“It’s okay. Thanks for the offer, though.”
They stopped walking to say goodbye but Jay looked unsure. There was a brief silence before Y/N shifted her stance and Jay finally spoke up.
Fuck it.
“When can I see you again?”
By this time Jay was almost a hundred percent sure that Y/N already knew what his intentions were. He just hoped she was open to it. Open to him.
“Uhm,” Y/N sounded unsure. She took her phone out and checked the calendar. “Next week on Tuesday or Thursday, maybe? What do you have in mind?”
To take you out on a date.
“There’s this new restaurant that my dad wants me to test out before we go there for a family dinner,” Jay lied. He applauded himself for finding a legit excuse fast enough before Y/N got suspicious. “Would you go with me?”
Y/N chuckled. “What, Heeseung and the others are busy?”
“They all have individual schedules,” Jay answered, not missing a beat.
Y/N nodded in what seemed to be defeat. Or relief?
“Text me the address and time, I’ll meet you there,” Y/N said as she added the appointment to her calendar.
“I’ll just pick you up at 7. Tuesday.”
Jay was observing Y/N’s facial expressions more intently than before, and he is certain that she was trying to hold in a smile. She was looking down to her phone.
But she’s biting her lip.
“Sounds perfect,” she looked up and her eyes met his. She smiled. Jay saw an imaginary green light right in front of him.
“I’ll see you then,” he said as he nodded. Y/N nodded back and waved a little before turning around and walking away.
Jay almost did a happy dance when Y/N turned back and shouted, “Thanks for the drink and cake!”
He let out a sigh of relief, not noticing how long he was holding his breath. He checked the time on his phone.
Three hours and a half. A new record he wished to break for their next meeting.
@xenjoyedthat asked you're late again. (maybeee pre-spiderverse? owo )
By the time that he gotten back to his apartment, the sun had already risen a noticeable distance into the clear sky, drenching the city in warm light. On a usual day, would have welcomed the scene of this splendid vista, had he not already worked through the night, splitting his time between projects at Alchemax and fighting crime in Downtown. Further adding to his woes had been the misplacement of his sunglasses, lost in the time somewhere between his journey from here , and upon his arrival at the lab.
As a result, when he stepped inside his own domain, his first order of business was to press the button that instructed shaders to descend over the windows, dimming the entire space's illuminance to such a degree that he could look around without needing to squint. Marginally more comfortable in the shade, tired as he felt, he still found the energy to expel a relieved sigh, basking in the silence... until it spoke back to him.
Tumblr media
"Lyla..." Turning with a start, brown topped head whipped around at the sound of her voice. Caught flatfooted, without realising he'd done it, he had slipped into a battle-ready stance, enabled by the lingering dregs of adrenaline that still swam around his body. "I wasn't expecting you back here toni-- ..this morning. Hope I haven't been keeping you waiting for too long?"
Offering her a shaky smile as he did so, Miguel tried his best to act like nothing of consequence had happened to have delayed him. A ruse that, being far from airtight, could be picked apart in several ways, ranging from the unkemptness of his usually tidy appearance, to the fresh wounds and bruises that peaked out from beneath his mismatched buttoned shirt.
"I'm sorry, I should've left a message. I got delayed unexpectedly. Please... forgive me?"
Entry 11:
Today is the day for me to make things right. I was able to catch a bus ride down to Stresa, where my whole family is back at home, so I get off at the closest station and make my way down into the city. When I am about ten minutes away from my house, it hits me that it might be better if I have some kind of proof that I will be able to turn Annette back to normal. Since I know the flowers work, I start looking around for a really pretty one. I turn around to see Angela holding a flower out to me. I take it with an appreciative smile.
Lilith is also there, and she tells me one last time, “You know, it’s not too late to turn around and keep her that way. You’ll get to stay being the pretty one. She’s had enough time to do that.”
“I’m actually feeling great knowing that I am fixing her back. Me making her ugly never made me pretty, and she does not deserve to look like this forever.”
“To each their own, I guess,” Lilith finishes with an eye roll and pops away.
“You’re making a good choice, honey, I promise,” Angela tells me in her soothing voice. “You know what to do now.” She pops away too, and now is my time to make things right.
I knock on the door to my house, and I wait nervously for someone to come to the door. I can see my mother look through the glass of our front window, and she turns to go away. Before she can fully leave, I try to stop her.
“Wait, please, I want to fix this. I am so sorry for what I did. I know I turned her into this, and I know I can turn her back. I promise I will fix this.”
A long silence follows, and I can almost feel her trying to figure out what to do about this. Eventually, she opens the door for me and lets me into the house. As I pass through the kitchen to get to Annette’s room, I grab a small pastry off of the counter and make my way down the hall.
I knock softly on her door and announce my presence.
“Go away. I don’t want to see you again.”
Not surprising. I would probably be angrier than she is if she did this to me.
“Annette, I just want to fix things. I am so sorry. I never should have done this to you. I know I can fix this, so I just want to do what I can to turn you back.”
I hear the lock turn, and she slowly opens the door. Her features are exactly like I left them that night, and I can’t help but feel really guilty again. I walk into her room and sit down on a chair at her vanity. I make sure that she is back on her bed and ready to talk before I start.
“I just wanted to show you that I am truly going to fix this. Here is a regular rose, and now I’ll turn it ugly.” I shoot the sparks out of my hand and make the rose shrivel and turn brown. “Now I’m going to make it go back to normal.” I get the sparks going again, and this time the rose turns back to its brilliant shade of pink it was originally. I place the rose on her table and ask, “Are you okay if I do the same thing for you?”
“Whatever you need to do, just do it quickly.”
With that, I grab the pasty and enchant it quickly. Annette eats a couple bites of it, and before she finishes it, I can already see her features changing back. Her teeth start returning to normal lengths, her hair smoothes down, and her face loses its splotches. By the time she finishes the pastry, she is fully back to her beautiful self.
“I am so sorry for making you ugly like that. You did not deserve to be punished for my insecurities. I always felt ugly compared to you, so I thought making you ugly would make me feel better. That didn’t work though, and I realize now that your good qualities never took away from mine. It was never your fault, and putting that on you was wrong of me. I hope you can forgive me, but if not, that is okay. I just wanted to let you know.”
“Of course I forgive you,” Annette tells me. “Now I won’t say that I’m not angry with you. I understand where you are coming from a bit better though, so I appreciate you telling me. I also appreciate the turning me back,” she finishes with a small laugh.
I reply with a small laugh too, and I make my way back to the living room to see my parents.
“She is back to normal, but if you don’t want me here I understand. That was a really terrible thing I did, and I would understand if you didn’t want me living with you anymore.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” Mom says to me. “Of course we are angry at you for taking your anger out on your sister like that, but we still chose to have you in our family. You still belong here.”
She pulls me into a hug that Dad joins in on, and I finally feel like I belong in this family. I may not be everything my sister is, but I know that at least I am around people who love me and that I love. As I break out of the hug, I see Angela in the kitchen window give me a thumbs up and mouth the words, “We’re here if you need us,” which makes more sense once I see Lilith poke around behind her. I mouth back a small “thank you,” and I head to bed feeling like I actually did something good with my powers. Maybe this magic thing could be more fun than I thought. I can do as much good or evil as I want, and now I want to do good.
The night ends well as well all go out to sit on the balcony of our home. The view is beautiful, and this time, it doesn't make me feel jealous of my sister or bad about myself but rather happy that there is such beauty in the world. And some of that beauty is in me too.
Can you a steven grant x male reader, where the reader is like this cute guy who visits the museum every day to check out the stuff there.
And he catches steven's eyes, then steven just stares at the reader unknowingly. He doesnt realize it until the reader goes up to him to buy a hippo stuffed toy.
Would be nice if the reader is also shy, so when he feels steven's gaze on him he blushes.
Shy love
Steven grant x Male reader x Marc spector
(Just a sprinkle of Marc.)
(Might be a bit too short tho)
This is going to be my first fic in a while, so forgive the grammatical errors, and I decided to twist the request a bit.
and I removed the cupcake van scene, cause nothing will change and it will take too long to write all of it.
(Just realized, my writing style may be confusing, but bare with me. I'm trying to improve.)
Thanks for the request, I appreciate it a lot.
Hope you like it
"Oi Stevie, get back to work, stop staring at that bloke."
Hearing Donna tell me as she passes by.
"It's Steven."
I say. She just rolls her eyes.
A few minutes or so passes by, I spot the guy again, this time admiring him, noticing his h/c, that looks sofy, bouncing a bit with every step he takes. Noticing his short frame, probably a few inches shorter than me.
–––
Feeling eyes on me, I turn around searching for the person whose gaze I managed to catch. Looking at the counter, seeing a guy with dark curly hair, soft expression and tanned skin. Look at me with a shine in his dark eyes. I begin to blush, walking to the next object of interest, trying to avoid his stare.
A few moments have passed, deciding to get a souvenir, I go up to the cashier spotting a cute hippo plush, grabbing it and putting it on the counter. The guy from earlier who was staring at me, looked up from what he was doing our eyes meeting, can't help ourselves but stare at each other, studying each other's faces like it's a piece of art painted by the finest painter in history. Breaking away from his beautiful face. I managed to speak out a few words.
"I- I- would, um like to ahhh b-buy this p-please."
Can't help but stumble on my words. Looking down at the plush.
"Th-that would be ahh, 10 pounds."
He says with a soft voice, smiling politely at me, smiling back I hand him a tenner.
"Th-thanks."
I say as he starts to bag the plush, putting the receipt in the bag, he hands it to me looking at my face. I can't but blush, noticing me blush, he also begins to blush. Looking away swiftly.
Exiting the museum, I decided that I will be visiting again tomorrow.
——————
Gathering my stuff ready to leave for the night, I exit the museum, going to a burrito shop to buy some food, then I begin looking for the guy in gold. Finding him, I sit beside him. Getting comfortable unwrapping my burrito, I begin to tell him some stuff
"Heyya mate, this guy came in today, he looked amazing, he looked perfect, I wanted to ask him out but just got shy. He just looked so perfect, soft h/c, just the perfect shade of e/c in his eyes. A face that looked like it was carved by the gods themselves. Red lips that looked like he just ate cherries and the colour stuck to his lips. Ow and before I forget."
After saying the last words I pull out a burrito from my bag and put it in his hat. After putting it in the hat, a couple came up to us, asking me to take a picture of them with the golden man.
"Cheese."
Snapping the photo, I tell them about the hat after dropping a few coins in they walked away.
"Welp, it's getting late, better go now. See ya soon."
Arriving in my apartment, I begin my nightly routine. Feeding Gus, taping the door, adding a bit more sand around my bed. After brushing my teeth, I sit on my bed, putting on the ankle restraint, I grab the rubik's cube on my bedside table and begin to play the audio of a woman talking about relaxing.
Finding it hard to sleep, I get up, removing the restraint and follow what the lady is saying. Reading a book for a bit. After a bit I begin to feel groggy, climbing back into bed putting on the restraint. I begin my adventure to the land of dreams.
——————
I wake up in a jolt in the middle of somewhere feeling my jaw hurt then realizing it has been displaced, fixing my jaw, standing up I look around in-front of me, seeing a village.
"No no no!"
"Great, the worm is back."
"What?"
"Give the body back to Marc."
"I'm sorry I don't know what you're talking about."
"Surrender the body."
Looking around, I see a wall behind me, with two people walking the wall. I wave my hand. One of them says something to the other and they start shooting at me. I run for cover tumbling down the hill I was on. Running towards the village.
——————
I've been visiting the museum, pretending to look around for two days now. Feeling sad that the cute guy at the counter is not there yet again, deciding to just look around a bit more and leaving.
Walking outside the museum, seeing the night getting is getting dark.
"Did I really spend that long in there? It was still bright when i went inside, damn. I really need to be more aware of the time."
Saying to myself silently hoping none of the passing people heard me.
Making my way towards my apartment, I noticed Steven, based on what I saw on his name tag the other day, also going to where I'm going. My mind telling me to catch up to him and strike up a conversation with him. But my body refuses to even move a little too close to him.
Seeing Steven go inside, I decide to just stay back a bit to let him use the elevator first. After seeing him go in the elevator and closing the door, I let out a breath that I didn't know I was holding. Not seeing his eyes look at me for a second or two as the elevator doors were closing. Seeing as I had my eyes closed to relax.
Going up to the elevator, hearing the ding signaling that the elevator has stopped and seeing the doors open. My eyes widen seeing Steven standing by the entrance of the elevator, but he doesn't look the same, he has a frown on his face, like he's angry at something. He began closing in on me, my heart racing. Then it happened so fast. Now I was here inside the elevator, hands behind Steven's head pulling at his curls, his hands gripping my waist tightly. With him towering over me.
"You taste as sweet as you look."
He said as we pulled apart panting, noticing he lost his accent and now has an american one. Looking down at me with a smirk on his face.
'Bet he's loving this size difference.'
I thought to myself.
"Would you like to go on a date? Just me and you, I know this steak place."
He says still gripping my waist, lips barely touching mine, my hands still giving the back of his head a gentle massage.
"Y-y-ye-"
"Hurry up sweetheart, I don't have long."
He says leaning down towards my ear biting it then licking it, I moan in delight. Feeling his wet tounge on my earlobe.
"Mmmm~, y-yes."
I say my eyes now closed trying to contain another moan, I blush feeling embarrassed with the sound he managed to pull out of me.
"Good boy."
He said in a gravelly low voice that had me weak, going back to kissing me roughly like tomorrow he will disappear, his tounge plunging into my mouth forcefully entering my mouth, licking my teeth, exploring my mouth, like an unexplored cave and he had been assigned to map it out, licking every spot he can. He takes my bottom lip in between his teeth, biting hard enough to draw another moan from me, pulling apart. He looks down at me admiring the mess he had made of me, panting like a dog who had ran a mile, I look up in-order to meet his eyes.
Giving me a smirk, he released my waist, turning around he walked towards his apartment like nothing happened.
"This is going to be an interesting week."
I say still blushing, trying to catch my breath my face very pink. Still in a daze I make my way towards my door fumbling with my keys, putting it in and unlocking it, opening the door, looking at his door before going inside my apartment.
Decided to add Marc, cause let's be honest, Steven would be too scared to make the first move. And I just wanted to have a pretty spicy ending.
Hope you liked it!
Tumblr media
The doorbell rang as I walked into the Wreck to begin my shift. I had worked there since freshman year of high school, when I met Kie. And you may be wondering, does that mean you’re a kook, Y/n? Yes, I’m a kook but just like Kiara, I connect more with the pogues. They’re nicer to me anyway.
“Sup, Y/n!” Kie said as I walked into the restaurant.
“Hey, girlie. How you doing?” I smiled as I made my way around the counter to hug her.
“I’m good, how ’bout you?”
“I’m okay, a bit tired but it’s fine.”
“You spent all night talking to JJ again?” She smirked, making me blush as I put my stuff away.
“Yeah… I'm just waiting for him to ask me out already.”
“He’s gonna ask you out, trust me.”
I began to work, taking orders and cleaning tables. The shift was half way done when Pope and JJ walked in making Kiara leave what she was doing to say hi to them. I stayed cleaning out a table while looking at JJ. He looked so good, as usual. I didn’t turn around in case that looked desperate so I just waited for him to come to me. Suddenly, someone tapped my shoulder and I thought it was a client so I turned and gasped. It was JJ.
“Hey.”
“Hey, J. How are you?”
“I’m good, now better that I'm seeing you.” He smirked, causing me to blush and look to the ground.
“Very funny, Maybank.” I said and walked past him to behind the counter. He followed and leaned against it, wanting to continue the conversation.
“I wanted to ask you something actually.”
“Yes?” I asked leaning closer to him.
“I was just um… I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date.. tonight..” JJ asked, scratching the back of his head. I smiled and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear before looking at him.
“I would love to, where do you wanna go?”
“Oh really? Um.. how bout the movies?”
“Yes, of course. We’ll meet there?” I said as I opened the cash register to give a client back their change.
“Sure, yeah. I’ll see you there.” He smirked as Pope called out for him to walk out. We both looked at him and back at each other with a small smile and blush on both our cheeks.
“I’ll see you tonight, babe.” and with that he walked outside with Kiara and Pope, leaving me a blushing mess.
That night I wanted to go all out. I wore some ripped jeans, a baby tee and my vans. My makeup was pretty simple and my hair too. JJ had texted me during the day that the movie was at 8. Of course, I wanted to be punctual so I was already there at 7:45. I stayed outside, standing on the sidewalk waiting to see his bike or his dad’s pickup truck.
The watch read 8:30 and JJ still wasn’t here. A cold breeze tan through my clothes making me hug myself, trying to keep warm as I stared at both sides of the road constantly. My anxiety started to creeped up which made me pull out my phone and text JJ.
‘Hey, are you okay?’
delivered 8:30pm
I put my phone away and began to walk back and forth, up and down the sidewalk. The ticket man was giving me eyes of pity at this point. He offered a free ticket but dumbass me declined.
Time went on and it was 9:50 pm. My shoulders were down and my eyes got watery as I finally realized that JJ was not going to show up. I began to walk back to my car as I pulled out my phone to text him again, seeing all the previous ones.
‘Are you coming?’
delivered 9:00pm
‘Did something happen?’
‘Are you okay?’
delivered 9:05pm
‘If this was some sick bet or joke, you‘re a fucking asshole!’
delivered 9:30pm
‘I’m going home. Don’t talk to me ever again.’
Delivered 9:50pm
The ride home felt long and dreadful, I didn’t even have the energy to play some music. I stayed with the dead of night silence. The only thing heard were a few birds chirping, the leafs ruffling against each other and the waves crashing at shore. I walked inside my home and my mom sat at the dining table, organizing some things for work.
“Hi, honey. How was the date?” She asked, taking off her reading glasses, watching me out the car keys on the counter.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” I muttered, turned to the hallway to go to my room.
“Well… I’m here, okay?” I nodded and walked towards my bedroom, throwing my purse on my bed. Tears crept up in my eyes as I threw myself on the mattress, staring at the ceiling. Many questions went through my head and all turned to anxiety in a second.
The next day came around and I were working my usual shift after school at the Wreck. I was in charge of the take out orders and the cashier which made me stay behind the counter the whole time. I was currently reading ‘Little Women’ as I waited for more customers when the doorbell, causing me to look up. JJ ran inside, out of breath with worried eyes.
“Y/n, I’m so sorry. I-I didn’t mean to miss it. I just needed to help Pope with something and we went to Charleston. It all took longer than expected and then my phone died, we saw Sarah and John B and we just came back really late. I didn’t see your messages and-“
“JJ, breathe.” I chuckled as I interrupted his rambling while holding his hand.
“I’m sorry. I’m so so sorry. Please, forgive me.” He begged and pecked the top of my hand in desperation. I sighed and looked away while taking back my hand.
“What you did was really shitty, J.”
“I know, I know and I feel horrible about it but please forgive me.” I stayed quiet and moved back to the register to look over the receipts. JJ walked around the counter and cornered me, placing his hands on my cheeks.
“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to hurt you. I would never want to hurt you. I really like you so please, let me try this again.” He whispered looking in between my eyes and lips. I leaned up and connected my lips to his, interlocking them softly. We parted from each other, both of us a blushing mess and we realized what just happened.
“We can go to the movies again but I'll pick you up.” I laughed poking his chest playfully which made him chuckle.
“It’s a deal. Thank you.” JJ smiled and hugged me sweetly and kissed the side of my neck softly.
“Now please go so I can work.”
“Fine, fine. Oh, can I get a burger to go?”
“Seriously? Fine, it’ll be out in a minute.” I smiled as I wrote down the order and took it back to the kitchen. When I walked out, JJ was on the other side of the counter, flipping through the pages of the book. I stared at him for a while longer, admiring how the sun made his hair seem golden and how it made his eyes look a lighter shade of blue. If you haven’t noticed by now, yes, I’m pretty smitten.
Pour Me Out: Part One
should i apologize for the new ocs, or…?
Merle figured it was about time for a change in luck. Their day had been terrible so far. They had woken up late, their boss had yelled at them, and they’d been so overwhelmed at work that they were just now getting food, with the sun sinking low in the sky. They were heading towards their favorite take-out place when a small form on the sidewalk ahead caught their eye.
A scrawny person was tucked against an upcoming shop, reading the window sign. Merle was instantly drawn in—their head would barely reach Merle’s shoulders. As they walked, Merle’s well-trained eyes flicked inconspicuously over the figure swaddled in baggy clothing. Dark brown hair hung over their high cheeks in a shaggy cut, hiding their ears. They could tell it was a dye, though, as they got closer. Pale blue hair peeked out where the roots were wearing through.
Merle’s pace picked up speed, just as the person went inside the shop. They followed without a second thought, waiting just at the corner of the building. The next few minutes seemed to pass in a blur, their heart rate stammering in their chest. They could barely contain their giddy excitement while waiting.
In no time at all, the person walked out of the shop, face already buried in the sandwich they had bought. Merle started forward instantly, bumping into them clumsily enough to make them drop their sandwich on the ground. The little thing let out a cry of distress, jumping away.
Merle assumed an expression of concern. “Oh no! I’m so sorry—are you hurt?”
The person looked at them with wide blue eyes—eyes the same shade as their roots. “N-no. I’m okay.”
Oh, that voice was precious.
“Are you sure? At least let me buy you something for dinner.”
Those blue eyes glanced mournfully at the sandwich on the ground, but they seemed to be regaining their composure as they plastered a smile on their face. “No, that’s okay. Thank you, though.”
Merle frowned. “Please? I won’t be able to forgive myself if I ruined your dinner and then just left. You seemed really hungry, too.” They even let loose a pout, wondering if they were overdoing slightly or just really, really selling it.
Either way, the little thing in front of them sighed a little, thin shoulders slumping. “If you’re that set on it…”
They beamed. “I know a great place! Follow me.” Then they grabbed that little hand in theirs and started dragging them along the sidewalk.
“Wow, you really had this planned out, didn’t you?” It was spoken with a begrudging huff, an air of awkward amusement and sarcasm. Merle laughed at how true the words were.
“I’m an opportunist,” they admitted with a flashing smile and a glance over their shoulder.
Those delicate lips twitched upward into the ghost of a smile. “My name is Aspen.”
“That’s gorgeous,” they said. They could probably do better, though. Aspen sounded too much like a name, too much like a free thing that owned itself. Aspen wouldn’t be that for much longer. They’d have to make some changes. “My name is Merle.”
Very soon they came up to the place Merle had in mind. It hadn’t been their original plan for the evening, but this place was very close to their house, and the staff knew them. They quickly guided Aspen into the corner to eat, vanishing off to grab their drinks. By the time they sat down to eat, they had already learned some more about Aspen.
He liked to travel, and had been on the road for a while. He claimed with an eye roll and a smirk that coffee had stunted his growth. He didn’t have many people he knew, so it was nice to have someone to talk to. Merle listened and prodded him for more, enraptured. He was perfect. It was as if he had been made, just for them.
As Aspen yawned for around the third time and drained the last of their drink, Merle leaned a bit closer to them over the table, reaching across.
“Your hair is gorgeous,” they said casually, suppressing a grin at the way Aspen tensed nervously and ducked away slightly. “Did you dye it yourself?”
And by the look of sudden horror in his eyes, he knew he was screwed. “I-I didn't—”
Merle already had their fingers sifting through those locks, though, tucking them behind a pointed ear. They didn’t bother stopping their grin this time.
“Well look at that,” they murmured.
Aspen lurched to his feet, attempting to make a dash for the exit, but the drug was already in effect, and his legs didn’t support his weight. Merle caught hold of him with a concerned glance around the room.
“Woah there, are you okay?” they asked, loud enough to carry. “Why don’t we get you home? You’ve had enough to drink.”
“No,” Aspen grunted against them. They were already scooping him up in their arms and walking out the door.
When Aspen woke up, there was a moment where nothing made sense. His head hurt, swimming with murk and fog. He groaned, shifting and cracking his eyes open.
Then everything hit him in a flood.
No. No no no nononono—
He gasped raggedly, head slamming back with the sudden panic. His skull rammed against something hard and metal, and he cried out softly.
Then came the sound of a camera shuttering. A chuckle. He felt sick to his stomach, but his eyes opened to seek out the sources of the noise against his will.
The person who had drugged him–Merle, that was their name–was sitting cross-legged on the ground a few feet away from them, camera nestled in their lap and a playful smile on their face.
“That was one of the more dramatic awakenings I’ve ever seen, but then again, I’ve never done this before,” they said, tone light as if this weren’t the most horrific situation one could imagine. “Very artfully done, really. Stunning.” They sighed in almost a starstruck way.
Aspen stared at them in horror, then jerked his arms against whatever was restraining him. He risked a glance above his head to confirm that they were handcuffs. Attaching him to a radiator. He was very briefly and detachedly offended at how cliché it all seemed.
“Why, why am I here?” he asked, voice rough. Crumpled and tied up on the floor like this, it was so very obvious how much bigger Merle was than them. Aspen wasn’t even that small.
Merle cast them a grin, unfolding their legs to move closer to Aspen. Close enough to be hovering over him. Aspen shrank back as far as he could, but the cold metal bars of the radiator blocked his movement.
“You’re here because you’re gorgeous, sweet thing, and I don’t think the world deserves to have you.” They tilted their head playfully, dark hair enveloping one shoulder.
Aspen tried to ignore the deep pang of fear that brought. Instead, they sneered. “And you do?”
Merle laughed. Their smile lit up their eyes in a way that was intoxicating to watch, even in a place like this. “You’re here, aren’t you?”
Embarrassing Encounters
Tumblr media
Peter Parker x fem!reader
warning(s) : slight smut, some fluff
summary : peter has a girlfriend that Tony doesn't know about, one day, when Tony was visiting peter, he found an interesting item in his room.
authors note : yeah, i don't know about this, i think this is so bad, but i like the plot so I'm gonna post this, i apologize if this is bad. i wasn't in the mood to write a full smut, so i left it at that, I'm really sorry if you're disappointed.
happy reading! ^_^
Tumblr media
Peter was just studying in his room, because you were out with your friends, so he got bored and decided to catch up on some work, because spidey was really holding him back from his studies. his room was a mess, mainly because he was always too tired after patrolling to clean his room.
suddenly the door opened and in comes Tony Stark himself. "hey pete, can i borrow your suit for a while? i have some adjustments i need to make" he said while looking around peter's room.
"w-what? how'd you get in the apartment?
"May let me in" he answered simply, walking towards his desk
"you can't be in here, here, I'll go find the suit while you wait outside" peter was scared Tony would find something he wasn't supposed to see.
"why? what's the matter? can't i just take a look around my protégé's room?" he said, looking around with his hands behind his back.
"well y-you can, but I'd like my p-privacy" peter answered while shifting nervously.
"I'm just here for a little while anyways, so you can go find your suit, while i have a look around your room"
"fine" then he immediately moved to find his suit, wanting Tony to be out of his room as quick as possible.
while he was searching for his suit, Tony just looked around, looking at the posters he put on the walls. his room looked like a typical teenage boy's room.
"—hey pete?"
"yeah?"
"how old are you?"
"I'm 18, why?" peter answered, still searching for his suit.
"do you have a girlfriend by any chance? 'cause if you don't, then this is pretty creepy" Tony asked while picking up a red lacy bra, holding it infront of his face, looking at it with amusement evident on his face.
peter immediately stopped looking, and turned around so fast, he thought his head was going to come off. his eyes widened, looking at the item infront of tony's face, horror evident on his face.
he immediately sprinted towards tony, snatching the bra from his hands, throwing it in his closet.
"t-that's none of your business" he found his suit laying near his bed, he picked it up "here's the suit", he said handing Tony the suit, then pushing tony out of his room, face sporting a bright shade of red.
Tony didn't said anything, deciding to bring it up later on, but the amusement and disbelief was still evident on his face.
when Tony was out of his room, peter slammed the door and leaned against it, sighing, slowly sliding down, holding his face in his hands.
peter couldn't believe that just happened, that was probably the most embarrassing thing that happened in his life.
eventually peter got up, still feeling embarrassed, but pushed the feelings away, then continued on studying.
~
the next day, you came over to peter's apartment to have a study date, because you were also a bit behind on your studies, but unlike peter, who was behind because of spidey, you were behind because you were just a bit lazy. so you both decided to have a study date.
"u-um so, you know how you left your bra the last time you were here?" peter started nervously.
"oh yeah, i was looking for that, why? did you do anything with it?" you said while smirking.
"uh, not really, but Mr. Stark... kinda found your bra?" peter replied unsurely. you widened your eyes.
"what? what do you mean by kinda?"
"i mean he was here the other day, and was snooping around my room, then he found your bra...?"
"oh my god, why didn't you put it somewhere safe?!" you exclaimed, embarrassed by the fact that Tony Stark found your bra.
"i was going to! but he came over before i got the chance to clean my room!"
"ugh.. i can't believe this" you said while dragging your hands down your face.
"I'm sorry, Y/N, please forgive me, I'll do anything, just please forgive me" he pleaded
truth is, you already forgave him, i mean, what's done is done, you can't do anything about it now. but you still want him to think you're mad at him.
"...anything?"
"yes!" he nearly jumped out of his seat, exclaiming.
"okay then, you're going watch 2 seasons of The Originals with me" you said while smirking.
"what?!" he saw you pouting at him, "okay okay, fine, anything for you" he continued, pulling you into a tight hug, his hands on the back of your head.
"I'm sorry, okay?" he said softly, caressing the back of your head, then kissing your forehead. "right, so now let's study"
the both of you began studying, but while studying, peter can't stop looking at your lips, how you bite your lips when there's a question that you can't solve, he can't resist it any longer, wanting to just plant his lips against yours.
eventually peter got tired of that, and deciding to just smash his lips against yours, the kiss got heated almost immediately.
both of you manuvered across the bed, while still kissing, eventually ending up with peter sitting against the headboard, and you straddling him.
the kiss was really messy, tongues intertwining, fighting for dominance, where eventually peter won, teeth clashing against each other.
your hands finding its way to his curls, tugging on it slightly, he moans softly against your mouth, while his arms wrapped around your waist, caressing your back, touching every inch of your back he could reach.
one of your hand slid down against his chest, taking off his shirt, then continuing its way to his pants, going inside of it, and taking him in your hands, your hands gently begin massaging his hard member in his underwear, slowly sliding it up and down his length. he moans against your mouth again, hips bucking up to your touch.
while you were playing with his hard member, his hands slid down to your ass, tightly gripping it through the material of your shorts. then his hands went inside, caressing your ass. now it's your turn to moan against his mouth.
you continued to stroke him in his underwear, while your other hand was buried in his hair. his hips bucking up against you, while you slightly grind against his thighs. you both moaned against each others mouths.
"a-ah Y/N that feels so good" he moaned against your mouth, too lost in the feeling of your hand wrapped around him. your hand that was in his hair slightly tilted his head to the side, to give your mouth easier access to his neck, placing kisses there, leaving marks.
"—so you do have a girlfriend" you both froze, immediately turning your heads towards the door. there, standing in all his glory, Tony Stark himself, leaning against the door, arms crossed, amusement clear on his face, with his eyebrows raised.
both of you immediately pushed away from each other, peter scrambling to find his t-shirt. peter took back the words he thought yesterday about the most embarrassing moment in his life, no, this was the most embarrassing moment in his life.
"Mr. Stark! what are you doing here?!" peter exclaimed, while you just hid behind him, too embarrassed to face Tony.
"well, i finished the adjustments on your suit, and i was going to hand it back to you myself, because coincidentally, i had some business to do around here, but i see that you're a little busy there"
"ugh! okay, whatever," he took the suit case from Tony, "you can go now" he exasperated.
"yeah okay, by the way, you have a really pretty girlfriend over there pete, don't lose her, and why didn't you told me you had a girlfriend? geez i thought we were closer than that pete" Tony said, faking a sad expression.
"because i knew you were going to be like this" peter answered, cheeks red with embarrassment.
"okay, well, I'm already late, so I'm going now," he said walking away, "oh, and don't forget to wear protection, okay?" he clicked his tongue, winking.
when he was out of sight, you hit peter on the arm, "why didn't you lock the door!?" you exclaimed.
"ouch! i thought it was locked!
"now you're gonna have to do more than just watching the originals with me!" you said, still hitting him
"okay okay! what is it?!" he replied, while trying to dodge your hits.
"hmm.. I'm going to wax your legs!"
"what?! no! anything but that!" he saw you with a look on your face that said 'are you sure about that?' "okay okay, fine" he sighed, looking down.
"again, I'm really sorry okay?" he said while looking at you with huge puppy eyes, practically begging you to forgive him.
"tch yeah yeah, but you're still gonna watch the originals with me and still going to let me wax your legs"
"okay..." he said while looking down.
"c'mon, let's continue studying now," you pulled at his arms, heading to the desk
"i have a better idea than that" you looked at him, confused, "let's continue what Mr. Stark interrupted earlier" he continued, looking at you with lust evident in his eyes.
"hmm.. i don't know.." you teased, but the truth is, you were more than willing to continue what was interrupted earlier.
"oh come here you" he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you into his chest, kissing you deeply.
Long overdue - Bucky Barnes x Reader
Title: Long overdue
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Warnings: None
Prompt: Could you please do a Bucky and y/n where she is shy but is really close to Steve and Bucky thanks their dating and he gets jealous because he loves her but they don’t really talk that much? Love your work
Tumblr media
“Still not ready to retire old man?” you smiled, teasingly when the blonde looked at you over his shoulder, but always with a warmth in your eyes that only longtime friends, family, at this point could have. Especially after everything you've all been through.
“What did you just call me, right now?” he narrowed his eyes at you, a lightness and easiness in both his movement and voice, as you couldn't see much of his face at that moment. Granted there was still some heaviness in the atmosphere whenever silence followed, and his moves if one was to pay close attention could notice were short and stiff. And you do notice it.
But who could blame him? Things are better than what they've been five years ago but still, that doesn't mean good. Not when people were still lost in the battle, important ones. Also family.
It's as good as it can get for now at least, and to have your best friend alive and here with you is really the second best thing at the moment. So you can't nor will complain.
“Am pretty sure you heard me. Just as I am sure that if I looked close enough, I could spot a white strand of hair here and there.” you smirked when his eyes widened “But that's not the point here. What I mean is, it's been a good couple months since you gave up that shield, and yet you're still somehow around. Changed your mind, maybe you need a new one? I saw one the other day when I was in town, I think it would suit you.”
“I'm just taking my time, it's not that easy to find an apartment in Brooklyn. You know that.” he turned to fully face you, a frown on his face but it was anything but serious as he crossed his arms over his chest “Besides, weren't you the one that said I should take as much time as I need and that this will always be my home? What happened now? Can't wait to get rid of me?”
“Oh you figured it out, at last.” you played along, letting out a long sigh of relief “Yeah, I'm so sick and tired of seeing that perfectly handsome face all the time. Distracting, taunting and at the same time reminding me of the 20 skincare products I have to use yet again tonight, to look even remotely human.”
A deep chuckle escaped his lips, the easy smile managing to warm you deep to your heart, just as much as his arms did the moment they wrapped around you "If that is to say you look like an angel otherwise, then yes I will accept it.”
“Yeah, particularly the one that rules hell.” you chuckled.
“Why do I even try to say anything nice for you in the first place?” he laughed, shaking his head.
You giggled, wrapping your arms around him as well, trying to find some comfort in your friend- in your family, before you inevitably had to throw yourself into this new world without him. The new age of heroes where many things had changed and in which you wouldn't have someone to turn to any given moment, as easily as it was with Steve. Steve had always been that important. There still was one, much more important of course, but that treacherous heart of yours made it impossible for you to even remotely think you could be so open with him as with Steve. Not without turning every shade of red there was, anyway. “In any case-” you cleared your throat “I could still get you that shield and you can be back on the business in no time. With a new title, of course, but still doing the job... which involves making me breakfast and dinner when I'm too tired. I mean, now that I think about it, you can still keep up that job even if you don't wanna be out on the field.”
“Ah so I do see why you want me to stay after all.” he nodded his head “By the way, what kind of shield are we talking about?”
“Oh it's a special one. I think it was based off a movie? You know how they are with superhero movies lately. And given how bright pink it was I'm guessing Captain Barbie or someth-” but you didn't even get to complete your sentence when a yelp left your lips and soon laughter followed. His fingers moved swiftly as he tickled your sides but you were faster at swatting his hands away.
“Fine, fine. Not a fan of cinema, I see.” you shook your head with a sigh.
“Yeah, forgive me, but we all have flaws. Even me. Is that the real reason why you want me out of here as soon as possible, maybe?” he raised an eyebrow.
“You've got me. Deep down I cannot stand the fact.” you shrugged innocently, but the smile on your lips betraying what you felt.
“Man, I feel the love. You all are glad I came back alive from returning the stones I see.” he said only as a joke, focusing back to gathering the papers filled with older drawings that he had on his table.
“... I am glad you are still here, though, Steve.” you said softly and he looked over his shoulder at you again. This time he didn't just pause, he let go of the papers and turned to face you.
“Where else would I be?” this time a frown set on his face, more serious than any other you'd seen on his face so far, because he understood what your words meant “This is where my family is.”
“Well, yeah, but I mean-” you bit the inside of your cheek and shrugged “There still were more options. More than you had before.”
“More options, yes. A need for a choice? No. I'm good, more than good. And I wouldn't change a thing about what I have here...” he shrugged softly, looking at you carefully almost with calculating eyes before he started speaking again “I mean, save for one thing I suppose. There is always-”
“Don't. Don't you even-” you gave him a sharp look, fast enough to cut him off “Not unless you want me to kick your ass out of here, right now.” you shook your head, lowering your voice “We agreed we wouldn't talk about it. You promised me you wouldn't bring it up again, Steve. You promised.”
You adored your best friend, you honestly did, but moments like this you really wished you had not told him a single word. Not that he wouldn't have figured it out by himself. He was a persistent man, standing by his opinion no matter what. And this time, seeing as he was somehow convinced your feelings could be reciprocated, he did everything in his power to convince you to act on them. He was the only one that knew the truth and you didn't really know if it was a blessing to have someone to talk to about it or a nightmare with how he acted.
“I try but it is too hard seeing how idiotic the two people closest to me can be.” he crossed his arms over his chest, making you frown for a moment in confusion “And I'm still having a hard time understanding why. I get that you have trouble opening up to people, more than just get it. I know how it is. I'm not the most open person exactly, either, and the thought of getting attached to someone is terrifying given the job we do. But it's not just someone, someone random, we're talking about here. There is nothing to be shy abo-”
“I'm not shy about a damn thing, Steve, stop saying that.” you huffed, giving him a hard look “I'm a grown-ass woman who has saved your ass and the world at the same time, more times than I can count. I'm not some schoolgirl to be shy or crushing or daydreaming or whatever word you wanna use again about- about me and you-kow-who.” the fact that you couldn't even say your name for fear of him somehow being around and hearing did make you look no more mature than a schoolgirl.
“All I'm saying is that if you opened up more, you may be surprised in ways that you couldn't even imagine.”
“Oh like him telling me he feels the same? Well, let's see: you are his best friend, practically his brother. He confides in you, trusts you with his life and everything important to him. Has he told you he sees me as anything more than a friend?”
“Well, he-” he paused “No, not really. He doesn't seem to want to talk much about it... you, with me. Like when I bring you up he gets too stiff but I- I see the way he looks at you! He may not admit it-”
“Because there is probably nothing to admit! It's all in your mind and I can't get my hopes up over just a feeling, Steve.”
“Look, all I'm saying is-” he sighed, shaking his head “All this- All this waiting, and pining because you know that's what this is-” he pointed a finger at you before you could get to retort “You know that's exactly what this is! Waiting and hoping it- it goes away somehow? That your feelings for him are something that will just pass like a scratch on knee, or that you'll cover it up and it will be like they don't exist? This is not how it works. You have to try your chance because if you don't then you'll only live to regret it, and I know you will the same I know it's not something that goes away. He may not see it, but I do. And the way you look at Buc-” he stopped himself when your eyes widened, he sighed instead and raised his arms in surrender “The way you look at him, the way you care and-” he stopped himself, shaking his head before slowly approaching you again.
“For god's sake, the way you love, (Y/n), that is not something that can easily be found. This love that you have in you, this big heart that you are so willing to give without a second thought, the care and selfless devotion is- it's one of a kind.” he slowly wrapped his arms around you, looking you carefully in the eyes “You are one of a kind. And anyone that has even part of your love should thank his lucky stars because it is a blessing to be loved by a woman like you. Waiting is one thing, but to be loved like this and not know it, it would be the biggest tragedy in one's life, (Y/n).”
You knew he was only saying everything because he wanted to help you out, to give you a push as gentle as possible towards the right direction. How right was it for you to confess to his best friend that you've always had feelings for him for so long and possible ruin the dynamics and relation you'd built with all of them (besides making a terrible fool of yourself), you didn't know. You were scared to even think of telling him the truth when you could barely utter a few words in his presence because of that treacherous heart of yours that jumped around like crazy whenever he was near.
“Says the world's leading authority on waiting too long.” you mumbled as a weak excuse, knowing he was right, and let your head rest on his chest as he tightened the hold around your waist.
“Yeah, well, speaking from experience I suppose.” he kissed the top of your head “I just want you to be happy, you know how important you are to me. And I would hate to-”
He didn't, however, get to finish his sentence when another voice was heard “Hey, Steve, you done with those-” but his words were also cut off as he breathed a low, gruff “Oh. Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt.”
“Wha- No, hey, Buck. Not interrupting.” Steve gave his friend a soft smile, pulling away from you and giving you a chance to take a goo look at his friend, and a good look you did take “Just having a word here with (Y/n). Sorry to keep you guys waiting.”
“No I uh should've thought so. Judging from the heartfelt words and all that. I shouldn't have assumed you were talking to yourself, I suppose.” he was mostly speaking to Steve but his eyes were mostly on you, a soft smile on his lips though it didn't reflect on his eyes at all. After barely half a beat, he spoke to you “Hey (Y/n). How you've been?”
“Hello Bucky.” you smiled as well, your throat closing up “Good, you?” you asked and he gave you a soft nod, without taking his eyes off you. Not that you did either. How could you?
Even if somebody were to warn you about it, it would never be able enough to prepare you for what you were seeing. You always knew and would easily admit that the man was good-looking, but this- this even more attractive than you could even imagine. You had seen photos of him back in the days, with his hair shorter and his face on full display, but to see him in person was a whole other thing. It took your breath away to have his eyes fully on you and not for a second hidden. It felt like his whole face was more open, even though his features were still somewhat clouded; the weight on his shoulders wouldn't go away anytime soon that was for sure. But to be able to be like the man he was back then was more than in looks, he could slowly feel like him again.
“Because that would have made so much sense now, wouldn't it?” Steve spoke up.
“Probably. I don't know, I just heard the last sentence anyway, so-” he shrugged, his eyes only stealing a glimpse at you before looking away in what seemed like guilt which you could not understand “Apologies about that. If you guys wanna stay alone some more, I can go by the car and wa-”
“Nah we're good here, all that lady's been doing is distract me anyway.” Steve shot you a playful look “Maybe you can help me out here a bit. I'll take this bag to the car and (Y/n) can tell what else we need from the desk.”
“Alright, I-” Bucky hesitated only for a second, his eyebrows pulling into a frown when Steve all-too-eagerly grabbed his only full bag of clothes and left his room, all excited to leave you alone with Bucky and you would have glared at him if you didn't feel terrified “There he goes.” Bucky sighed before turning to you with a soft smile “Ok, so is there anything you need help with?”
“I uh ye-yeah. Steve was gonna gather his drawings next so given they're important we could... do that.” you breathed out a little hastily but also in a low voice as you rushed to get to the desk. Bucky didn't say a word himself, only letting the tense silence hang in the air; while you struggled on the inside to come up with something good enough. It wasn't just that you were shy or quiet, you were always so unsure of what was best to say to the man, fearing you'd mess it up or make a fool of yourself.
“He's got plenty of these, must have felt really inspired hm?” Bucky spoke in a soft voice, looking over at the drawings Steve had done of you. You got distracted for a moment, taking the warmth in his eyes and the smile that look bittersweet if not sad on his face.
“Uh yeah.” you cleared your throat “It was around the time I was trying to get him back to drawing after I found his art. I was a bit shy about it at first but I suppose they're good.”
“His art always was, he's got a way of bringing things to life, capturing things in a different way but this-” he pause, looking up to meet your eyes, locking them in a look that only made your knees weak if the small distance hadn't already “It would never even compare to the real thing. That is one of a kind. You've always been anyway, I don't think there is a single person that knows you and could deny that.”
“I- I'm not that special.” you could feel the heat rise up on your cheeks and forced yourself to look down.
“I didn't just say special. I said one of a kind, unique. As is... everything about you. But then again, Steve has always been lucky without even knowing it.”
Glancing at him you did notice the honesty in his eyes, the warmth that almost reached out to you like that of the sun. If it weren't for his words that had your heart hammering in your chest, you would have paid more attention to the way his smile didn't really reach his eyes or the longing with which he looked at you.
“I suppose.” you mumbled, though you couldn't understand the meaning behind his last sentence. Letting the silence fill the room again you desperately searched for something else to say. You didn't speak much with Bucky but you wanted – despite your fear – to be the one to keep the conversation going because the truth was you loved talking with him “You look good, you got a haircut.”
Well, when you weren't making a fool of yourself that is.
Bucky paused for a moment, looking at you and you really braced yourself for him to laugh at you and call you out on what a stupid thing that was to say. But instead all you got a smile that you would be damned if it wasn't shy. It was almost too sweet for your heart to take, and the way he ducked his head as if some bashful... schoolboy (you almost laughed at the word that came up in your mind) had your breath getting caught up in your throat once more. You had never seen this side of Bucky. Never.
“Yeah I uh-” he smiled, fully smiled, and your own heart jumped to your throat “I thought that maybe it was time for a change. I didn't know if I could pull it off again after all these years but I-”
“No” you whispered “No, you're- you look great, really, Buck.” you confessed softly and his smile only got bigger “Not that you didn't before, don't get me wrong. You just look like you did back in the days. I- I saw a couple photos of you and Steve, and it's- it's good. Real good.” you gave him a small nod, which he return.
The smile stayed on his lips as he admitted “Yeah, truth is Steve was the one that insisted on it for some reason.” some reason, yeah, more like you saying how good Bucky looked with short hair better yet.
“Well, I'm glad you took that choice. It does look great. And... not that I think you had any trouble before, but now you'll have all the ladies swooning over you, you will barely have time for us.”
“That would never happen, never. I would never put anyone else before you.” he spoke with so much sincerity that you had to look away for a second because of the intensity “Besides-” he cleared his throat “Looking forward to go on double dates or something? I figured you and Steve wouldn't have time for us.”
“Steve, probably, he's got a lot on his plate now. But what do I have to do with any of it?”
“I just-” he shrugged softly, frowning “I figured that moving in a new place is... a lot.”
“It is... hence Steve having a lot on his plate. I still don't get what I have to do with that? I mean, sure, I'm his best pal besides you and Sam, but it's not like I'm moving in with him or anything.” you shrugged with an smile, focusing for a few moments on the drawings before you.
“Oh I thought-” he paused, nodding his head before he let out a soft breath “Well, I suppose I was just assuming. It's not like... this changes anything, right?” his words were so hesitant that it confused for a second.
“...No? Why would it? Steve is still Steve. Things are and will continue to be the way they've always been.”
“I mean-” he cleared his throat again, shifting in his place “You two are good right? Like, together and all that, you're good?”
“Just like we've always been, Buck, I don't understand why you're asking this. Honestly... Is there something not right with you, maybe?” you asked softly, trying to meet his eyes even though he avoided it.
“No, why would there be?” he swallowed thickly, nodding to himself “And besides, I should've thought so.” he offered you a smile, albeit weak “He wouldn't have given up a chance with... A chance to the life he would've had for something that's not important. As far as that is concerned, I don't blame him. I would do the same.”
“You... you mean Peggy, don't you?”
“I-” he shrugged softly “I didn't really wanna mention her in case... Well, he did leave her for you. He stayed here, didn't go back to live his life with her. Which, again, is the right choice. To tell you the truth, I feared for a moment that we wouldn't see him come back from that time travel unless he was graying and old.” feared, and that terrible part of himself that was too selfish, hoped he would stay back in time to have his life with Peggy so that Bucky could maybe get a chance with you in case-
“But he did come back.” you whispered “And he did it for all of us, there's no reason to give me all the credit, Bucky.”
“I mean, you're still the main reason. And as I said, he did make the right choice. Hell, I know that if he had even so considered staying back there, I would have kicked his ass for it. But I guess I'm more than glad you two are so good like this, that I didn't need to.” liar, he knew he was such a big liar for saying all of it.
“Main reason, yeah sure.” you breathed out a laugh, feeling proud with yourself for how casual you sounded “Just say what's on your mind, Buck. Steve's so tired of my single sorry ass that he had to stay here to make sure I don't end up being a crazy cat lady. I mean can I blame him? No. I can't even tell the guy I... the guy I like how I feel about him.” you shrugged, not meeting his eyes.
You were saying things you never thought you would, but feeling bold maybe you would slowly get somewhere in the end “I'm sure Steve's just gonna snap one of these days and tell him 'She likes you you idiot, for fuck's sake do something cause I'm sick and tired listening to her talk about you non-stop.' and I'm not even joking. That will be it, word for word. So-” you let out a low laugh “I better hold him back huh?”
“What?” you did expect to see such a dark and serious look to meet you when you finally looked at him “What did you just say (Y/n)?”
“That... you know, with me being single all this time, Steve might try to set me up with- I'm sorry.” you shook your head “Did I say something wrong? Was it something that I-”
“You're... what?” his voice was so gruff that you felt even more worried.
But before you could voice your concerns, your best friend was walking inside the room again “Sorry for the delay, though I suppose you guys barely noticed my-” but he stopped himself when he was met with the hardest glare you had seen Bucky give his friend “Uh is everything alright?”
“We'll see about that.” his voice was deep “Come on. You. Me. Talk. You have lots explaining to do.” he took a deep breath, looking at you for a few too long seconds too many emotions on his face for you to tell apart, before looking back at his friend “And it's been long overdue.”
Life of Death
You’re gonna need tissues for this one folks! A huge thank you to @addictedtodinosaurs for allowing me to write this wonderful headcannon! Hope you guys enjoy!
Warning: Angst. Whole lot of angst
It hasn’t even been a day since Alcina’s world collapsed. Ethan Winters managed to flee Castle Dimitrescu with his life and topple the hierarchy Mother Miranda worked so hard to achieve. Everyone is gone; Angie, Moreau's house, Mother Miranda, even her baby brother Karl. They never stood a chance after the fall of the great Mother Miranda. Without her protection, they were left helpless. Of course, Ethan only saw them all as monsters; filthy bloodthirsty creatures that needed to be slain. That’s all anyone ever saw them as. They’re different so that must mean they’re wrong. They’re abnormally different from anything I’d ever seen so that automatically means they’re evil.
But they’re still a family. Lucky for Alcina, she never let herself depend on anyone other than herself. Well, except for her daughters.
She was wandering around the ruins of the castle in search of them. They were nowhere to be found since Ethan escaped. It was a grueling task but obviously, one that needed to be done. They need their mother’s tender love and care to nurse them back to health.
Cassandra was the first to be found. Naturally, she was found within the comfort of her basement. Where else would that silly girl be hiding? Just like Daniela, her bleeding seemed to have majorly stopped on its own. So all that was left for Alcina to do was bathe her and bandage her wounds. Alcina carried her upstairs to her bedroom slowly and carefully to not make her feel any sicker to her stomach. From there she bathed her and wrapped whatever wounds she had in delicate cloth before putting her to rest in her bed. Alcina tousled her wet hair before leaving in search of the rest of her brood.
Daniela was the easiest to find. She was left lying face down in the parlor soaked in a pool of her own blood. Her body was riddled with bullet holes to the point where her abdomen resembled Swiss Cheese. Alcina was quick to scoop her up and bring her upstairs to tend to her wounds. Until she got Daniela in the bath she used the ends of her dress to put pressure on her abdomen. Just like Cassandra, her bleeding seemed to have majorly stopped on its own. So all that was left for Alcina to do was bathe her and bandage her wounds.
Picking each individual bullet out of her body was an uphill battle, but Alcina was the eventual victor. Even better, she managed to not disturb her youngest’s slumber as she patched her up. Daniela was now free to rest as much as she needed in the sanctuary of her mother’s bed.
“What a mess we’re left with, hm? Don’t you worry about a thing my little Tasmanian Devil, Mother’s here now. I’ll protect you.”
The girls remained motionless as Alcina tucked Daniela in next to her sister.
Alcina watched as her little bundles of joy rested comfortably under the warm blankets and plush pillows. They look so sweet and at peace. It was rare for the matriarch to see them like this, but it always brought a smile to her face.
“You just rest now, my lovelies. I’m going to go find your sister so she can rest easy as well.” Alcina bends down and kisses each daughter on the forehead. “I’ll be right back.”
It took a few hours of searching to find her eldest daughter. Doing countless laps around the castle finally brought Alcina to explore the labyrinth of hidden passageways. There were a few times when said passageways brought her right back up to her bedroom. She wasn’t complaining too much though. Every time it happened she simply checked on her girls and reminded them how much she loves them.
Bela was by far the hardest to find. The sounds of scurrying behind a row of bookcases alerted Alcina to her presence. Following a single passageway eventually led Alcina to find the blonde buried from the chest down in rubble. The tunnel had collapsed from then on.
Alcina made quick work of removing the rock and rubble from her daughter's body. Rats fled back into their holes as she did so. The eldest Dimitrescu never moved even an inch. It took a while, but Alcina did manage to get her out in one piece. She whispered promises of a warm bath and offered to deep clean the dirt and dust out of her hair.
Bela couldn’t respond but Alcina knew she heard her. She could still sense her. She could sense all of them. They’re just weak, that’s all. They need as much rest as they can get.
It’s late evening by the time all three girls are bathed and tucked into bed. They were dressed in clean clothes and had their bandages changed again before Alcina crawled carefully into bed with them. She made sure to be extra careful when nudging them out of the way so she was in the middle; Bela on one side and Cassandra and Daniela on the other. Her arms wrapped around them all snugly.
It reminds Alcina of all the times the girls would burst into her room when they were little during a thunderstorm. All four of them would cuddle up just like this under the covers and either sing to them or read them a story.
“Tomorrow is a new day, my loves. We will start anew and we’ll be stronger than ever. I hope you sleep peacefully.”
The next morning comes slowly for Alcina. It’s quiet for once as the girls aren’t awake to cause mischief. Aching in her back and arms keeps her from stretching out. She smiled when she feels the girls are still snuggled up close to her.
“Good morning my darlings,” she says with a yawn. “How are we feeling today?”
Alcina kisses each daughter on the cheek and chooses not to notice how much more pale they were this morning. And certainly doesn’t recognize how stiff they were. She simply chalks it up to sleeping uncomfortably. After all, even she woke up with an aching back. Her arms wrapped around them must have really bothered them.
“It’s alright, girls. Take all the time you need to recover. You’ve been through quite the ordeal and need as much rest as you can get. I understand that. Mommy will be waiting for you right here to wake up. I’ll be the first thing you see when you open your bleary little eyes.”
The family lounged for the better half of the morning. Alcina takes her time stroking the hair of each of her girls’ hair and whispers words of comfort to them. “You’re so brave, my loves. And so strong; stronger than Mommy could ever hope to be.”
She notices a rather putrid smell coming from Daniela. One not caused by uncleanliness or a rotten meal, but something else entirely. Her immediate response is to change her bandages again, but can’t help but notice how pale Daniela had become overnight. Her lips were turning a shade of blue and the rest of her skin looked sickly. So did Cassandra and Daniela. Perhaps this is worse than simply recovering from injuries? Maybe....maybe they really were-
Alcina shook her head. They’ll wake up. Of course, they’ll wake up! They just need to rest extra long before they can really start to recover. So what if they get worse before they get better? At the end of the day, all that matters is that they do wake up. Then it’s smooth sailing from there.
The silence is suffocating. She feels the chill in her blood, coldness bringing the synapses of her brain to a standstill. Part of it is a pain, but one Alcina can endure. One she has to endure; for the sake of her daughters.
While she waited, Alcina called for a maid, the only one left, to fetch some documents from her private study that needed her attention.
They didn’t actually need her attention, of course. With the demise of Mother Miranda, the document's importance was nullified. But Alcina Dimitrescu is not the type of person to just sit around and do nothing. Especially when there are so many important things to do.
As soon as the maid steps into the room she understands what’s happening. She went through something strikingly similar when she had her miscarriage some years ago. Reality is a cruel plane of existence. Especially when you lose someone you loved suffering it with. It’s plain to see that her mistress is grieving her losses and she doesn’t have the heart to break whatever fantasies Lady Dimitrescu has built-in her head.
Instead, she chooses to play along. Delusional or not this was still Lady Dimitrescu, the woman will kill her if she tells her anything other than what she wants to hear. She gives a kind smile and curtsy to her Mistress and simply dies as she’s asked.
“Shall I fetch you some wine, My Lady?”
Alcina thought about it for a moment. It has been over 24 hours since she last fed and she was certainly craving sustenance. But ultimately decides against it in favor of her daughters.
“No. Keep what we have left safe for when my daughters wake. They’ll need their strength more than I’ll need mine.”
The maid waits a minute before trying again. She looks over at the girls still laying in bed. It’s obvious they are no longer there. She could smell the evidence of that from across the room.
“Very well, Lady Dimitrescu. I could send up a platter of-“
“Enough,” Alcina shouts but quickly catches herself from continuing. The girls don’t need to be disturbed by such a trivial matter. “Go make yourself useful and clean my daughters’ rooms. They’ll want them spotless when they wake up.”
The maid simply bows her head. “Of course, my Lady. Please forgive me.”
The next two weeks went on like this before the maid had enough. She wanted to help her mistress, she truly did, but there was nothing left for her here anymore. The last scraps of human food were officially gone and there was no reason to trek down to the village and come all the way back when she could just as easily take up residence down there. It was a gut-wrenching decision but it had to be done. She tried her best for Lady Dimitrescu and that’s all that mattered.
She slipped away in the dead of night. Normally the Lady would have any escapees hunted down and dragged back up to the castle only to be thrown in the basement. But there was no one to do that anymore. Heisenberg and his pack of lycans had perished long ago, even before the Lady’s daughters, and the Lady was too drained of emotions to care. Too weak to chase after her.
Alcina’s daughters are her everything. Every day she lived for them. She lived because of them.
Alcina took great pride in her tall stature. She is the image of beauty and elegance. The only real flaw in her design is its role in hunting down prey. You’d have to be blind or stupid to not see her coming after you. Even with her much larger strides, she wouldn’t be able to keep up. And Alcina Dimitrescu does not run. Prey is not worth running for.
So she depends on her daughters to hunt for her. They’re much more suited for the job; so young, and clever, and agile. They are her cubs and her, their lioness, too old to keep up with the hunting party.
Alcina looks at her girls and sees them as they truly are; dead. Lifeless corpses. Their bodies are decaying and cold. She has been changing the bed sheets every morning to keep away the maggots but failed to stop all of them. The smell of death is noxious even with all the windows open because Bela said she wanted to feel the crisp winter breeze.
“My girls,” Alcina sobs. “What have I done to you?”
She collapses at their bedside and finally allows herself to break down.
But looking up at them she still feels them. She can still feel their arms wrap around her shoulders as she cries. The smell of paint is still on Cassandra’s cloak and Daniela was sitting on the floor right next to her. The short ends of red hair tickled Alcina’s cheek. If they were truly gone, how is it she can still feel Bela kiss the top of her head and wrap her arms around her neck in an embrace?
“I never should have done this. How can I be so selfish? I never should have turned you to suffer as I have.” A new wave of tears blurred her vision. “What kind of mother am I?”
She knows she doesn’t have long now. How can she bring herself to care? Everyone she ever cared about was already gone. What’s the point of trying to survive without her dearest family, especially when she’s so close to being reunited. Alcina wiggles her way back under the covers and pulls her daughters close once more. She’s crying in earnest now, happy that her pain is almost over. Even now she can see her daughters playing together, maybe even with Uncle Karl somewhere in the far off distance.
A smile spreads to Alcina’s lips as she closes her eyes and simply waits for her turn to join in on the fun.
You sit alone on a park bench, wearing a heavy black backpack filled with Hammer’s latest invention. He’s here too, more than a mile away, watching you from the shadows. Your task is to do all the talking and distracting; Hammer wants to take the kill shot. You don’t really care, as long as Tony Stark dies for what he did to Natasha.
At midnight exactly, Tony walks up to you, wearing a hoodie, jeans, and his signature sunglasses. However, you know from experience that Jarvis is inside the sunglasses, providing him with information about you and his surroundings.
“It’s a little late to be wearing sunglasses, isn’t it, Stark?” you say, standing up. Hammer lined your backpack with lead so Jarvis can’t see into it, but you’re still nervous.
“You know I have astigmatism,” he says.
“I don’t really care,” you respond. “Take them off.”
He doesn’t need a second warning.
“So, what’s up with you, Y/N?” Tony pockets the sunglasses. “Where have you been lurking all this time?” He stops about ten feet in front of you.
“Just…working through some things,” you reply.
“For six months?” Tony scoffs. “We waited for you to come back.”
“You know I couldn’t do that.” Your jaw clenches. “But for you, Stark? I’d make an exception any day of the week.”
“What’s up with all the theatrics tonight, huh? Would’ve been a lot simpler to have this chat at the Tower,” Tony says.
“I’m not an Avenger anymore.”
“Says who?”
“Says me,” you snap, trying not to let your impatience show. You’re waiting for Hammer’s signal, but he seems to want to take his time. Your eyes drift to the glowing blue arc reactor in the center of Tony’s chest and you put your right hand in your pocket casually.
“Just spit it out, Y/N. Why am I here?”
“You’re here to die, Stark.”
“Well, have at it.” He opens his arms tauntingly and you tense, ready to tackle him to the ground and beat his head inside out.
“You killed Natasha,” you snarl, and his expression changes. But you don’t have time to process it, because suddenly, the watch on your wrist vibrates.
Hammer’s signal.
You take your hand out of your pocket, now holding onto a tiny sensor disk, which you throw at Tony’s chest. It latches onto his arc reactor and powers it down instantly, preventing him from activating his Iron Man suit.
Then you dive to the ground, because Hammer starts blasting away with his rifle.
Tony catches a few bullets in his chest and legs, unable to react to both threats at the same time. He falls onto his back, blood pooling around his body as he gasps for air. You activate Hammer’s suit, which tears out of your backpack, covering your torso and limbs in a thin layer of metal armor.
You climb to your feet, your helmet snapping over your head, and charge towards Tony. But something—or someone—completely blindsides you, sending you skidding in the direction of the carousel.
It looks like a variation of Iron Man, although the suit is smaller and more feminine. The colors are black and red, evoking a pang of familiarity in your chest. You stand again, an eight-inch blade shooting out of your right wrist, and you beckon the Iron Woman (?) to come at you.
She does, but when you swing your blade at her, she blocks it and punches you so hard in the chest you fly back into the carousel and knock a horse completely off its pole. You’re pretty sure you cracked a rib as your breathing sends a stabbing pain up your side. You hang onto a bench to get up, and suddenly the carousel comes to life, lights flashing and music crackling through the speakers.
You’re transported back to the day you were last here with Natasha, when you asked her to be your girlfriend.
Both of your horses are out of sync. When she goes up, you go down, and neither of you can stop laughing. You’re pretty sure you’re the oldest adults on the carousel without kids, but you don’t care.
The way her hair effortlessly blows in the wind and the way her eyes crinkle when she laughs lights up your heart, and you still can’t believe she chose you over everyone else in the world. You’ve never been so in love with another human being before, and you don’t think there will ever be another like her.
When the rides end, you take her hand and lead her to an empty patch of grass in the shade of a tree.
“Natasha, will you go out with me?” you ask, your voice trembling. She nods and brushes her fingers over your cheek. “I promise to keep you safe and love you every day for the rest of my life—”
“Calm down, it’s not a marriage proposal.” Natasha laughs as you sweep her off her feet. “Not yet, anyway.”
“Just preparing.” You kiss her and feel her smile against your lips. You’ve never been happier.
You’re so stuck in your head you don’t even notice the Iron Woman coming after you until she punches you in the face. You stagger back, stunned, as she punches you several more times. The face of your helmet snaps off and you feel your nose bleeding. You slash out with your blade wildly, forcing the Iron Woman to back off.
“Y/N,” the Iron Woman says, and you don’t even care how she knows your name, “You need to stop.”
“Get out of my way.” When you leap towards her, she lifts her foot and kicks you in the chest. You somersault backwards, head over heels, as she retreats. The rotating platform of the carousel does nothing to help your balance and the lights and noise distract your focus. You crouch behind a stationary horse, searching for her amongst the painted animals.
You break the blade off your wrist, poised to throw like a javelin. When the Iron Woman pops out from behind a black horse, you bring your arm back to throw the blade, but she fires from her gun before you can. The bullet bounces off a pole and buries itself in your left cheek.
The pain is like a branding iron as you scream and fall to your knees, the blade slipping out of your fingers. Blood pours out of your mouth, the taste of metal coating your tongue as you gingerly reach in to swipe the burning chunk of lead over your teeth. You finally spit the bullet out, but the pain persists.
The Iron Woman holsters her gun and approaches you, thinking you’re too distracted to notice. But you do, another blade flicking out of your left wrist and you ram it into her thigh as hard as you can. The blade crunches through the plates of her armor, but she elicits no reaction to being stabbed.
“Y/N,” the Iron Woman repeats.
“Just die already!” you scream, withdrawing the blade and trying to stab her again.
The Iron Woman’s helmet slides back and you freeze when you see her face.
It’s Natasha.
Immediately, your anger melts into confusion and happiness.
“H-How…How is this possible?” you stammer, more blood spilling from your lips. “T-They…They told me you died.”
“No.” Natasha shakes her head, kneeling to your level. “But you never came back for me.”
“Because I hurt you—” Hammer had said she was dead, and that Tony—no—you—had killed her.
“I forgive you, Y/N. For all of it.”
“I don’t deserve your forgiveness.” You stumble back, tears and blood mixing on your face.
“Please come back to me, Y/N,” Natasha begs, as your head spins from the turn of events. “I still love you.”
Suddenly, it’s like all of Hammer’s training reverses. Tony was never the one responsible for harming Natasha—you were. And now Tony’s bleeding to death, which was again, your fault. You won’t let this rest on your conscience. You’ve done enough damage and now it’s time to redeem yourself, as little as you can.
“This is all Justin Hammer’s doing,” you say, letting Natasha pull you to your feet. “He’s had me kidnapped for the past six months. He thought I would be able to help him kill Tony, but he’s not going to be successful anymore. Because you weren’t part of the plan.”
Natasha smiles and you feel your heart melt. Whether or not she’ll take you back, you owe this to her.
“He’s about a mile out, west from here. He has no guards—arrogant bastard—it’s just him and his rifle. You go get him and I’ll get Tony,” you say. Natasha nods and flies off. For a moment, you’re filled with jealousy over her suit. How come Tony never made you one?
You make your way off the carousel and find Tony still on the ground. You check his pulse. It’s weak, but there.
“Tony, I’m so sorry,” you say, as a spray of bullet rips through the ground. You grab his arms and pull him to take cover under a bench.
“Y/N?” he mumbles.
“Yeah. I’m sorry. This is all my fault.”
“No…” Tony says, grabbing your hand. “I’m sorry, Y/N. I was a complete asshole to you that day—”
“No, I’m the one who tried to shoot you, for God’s sake—” You rip his shirt into ribbons to wad up against the wounds in his chest and legs. “You’re gonna be okay,” you promise. “It’s Justin Hammer who’s behind all of this.”
“I recognized his work from your suit,” Tony gasps. “It looks like shit.”
“You can tell him that yourself.” You find yourself smiling despite the circumstances. “He wanted my help to end his ultimate rival. He manipulated me into thinking that Natasha was dead and that you were the reason for it—” You pause. “Thank you for taking care of her.”
“It was the least I could do for you.”
“I know she probably won’t want me anyway after all this, but it was good to see her again.”
“She only wants you. It was always you or no one.”
You throw yourself onto Tony when the bullets start again and you feel them bounce off your back and legs. Fortunately, when Hammer made your suit bulletproof, he probably didn’t think it would have to bulletproof against his bullets.
Suddenly, the gunshots stop and the silence is deafening.
When you finally look up, you see Natasha flying over, holding Hammer by the collar.
You don’t even mind when your face splits into a painful smile. “That’s my girl.”
***********************************************************************
Two weeks after Hammer is arrested, Natasha convinces you to come by the Avengers Tower. It’s a strange feeling as you walk in for the first time in over six months. When you left, you’d never thought you’d be back, but here you are. Your only belongings are a single duffel bag with some clothes stuffed inside.
You ride the elevator up to the Avengers’ quarters. You’re a little more wary of the SHIELD agents that pass you, wondering if anyone will double-cross you again, but you remain courteous. You punch in your code to see if it still works and it does, the doors opening.
“Look who’s finally come home.” Tony’s there to greet you and he hugs you tightly.
“How are you feeling?” you ask, still guilty you almost got him killed.
“Good, no thanks to you.”
“Sorry again.”
He waves you off.
“Where’s—” you start, but then you see her. She comes around the corner in a wheelchair. Your heart drops to your feet.
“Things have been a little different since you left,” she says. So that’s why she had no reaction when you had stabbed her at the carousel. She has no feeling left in her legs after your bullet pierced her spine.
“Natasha, I’m…I didn’t know. Shit, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t be here.” You turn around, but she rolls into your legs and grabs your hand.
“Please stay,” she says. “Like I told you before, I’m not mad.”
“But you have every right to be.”
“Can we talk?”
You nod numbly and let her lead you back to where your shared bedroom with her was. Nothing inside has changed. In fact, your clothes are still hanging in the closet like you’d never left. You sit on your side of the bed.
“What do you want me to say, Y/N?” Natasha asks.
You shrug. “Call me an asshole for what I did. Tell me you’d never want me back.”
“Okay. You’re an asshole for shooting me and leaving me,” Natasha says without hesitation, and you flinch. But somehow, you find solace in hearing her say the words you’ve played over and over in your head for months. “And yeah, after the whole thing happened, I didn’t think I could ever take you back. But I couldn’t stop thinking about you and told myself if I ever saw you again, I wanted you to know that I forgive you.”
“But I don’t know if I could forgive myself,” you whisper.
“Well, I forgive you, and I think if I can do that, you can, too.” It hurts her to see how much you’ve changed in the past six months. Your face and body are thin from malnourishment and Hammer’s torture. Your eyes are dull and permanently swollen from basically crying every day for six months. Some of your fingers are crooked from not healing correctly and you have scars running up your arms.
She reaches out and touches the puckered mark on your cheek from the bullet. “Besides, we’re kind of even now.”
“Hardly.” You chuckle.
“We can start slow,” Natasha says, putting her hands on your shoulders. “Because I’m not sure what still works down there, anyway.”
You smile, and her heart warms at the sight.
“Can I lie with you?” she asks and you nod, scooping her up and carrying her to the bed. You put her down gently and lie next to her. She pulls you close until your foreheads touch and you close your eyes as you breathe in her familiar scent. “Why did you pick the carousel as the meeting place?” she asks.
“I…I don’t know,” you mumble. “For some weird reason, I thought I’d see you again, at least in my memory. But then I did in real life, too.”
“I’m so glad you came back,” Natasha hums, brushing her lips against yours.
“I’m so glad I did, too.”
AN: The end! :) Fun facts:
-Part 1 was inspired by the scene in X-Men: First Class where Magneto accidentally deflects a bullet into Charles’s spine (which resulted in Charles’s paralysis). -Part 2’s Iron Black Widow suit was inspired by a concept art photo I saw that was cut from Avengers: Endgame. Here’s the link to that post. -Part 3’s carousel scene was inspired by the season 1 finale of Netflix’s Punisher.
Giyuu was really confused at first as to why you’d always turn away. He immediately thought it was because you didn’t like him or that he did something wrong.
He really wanted to kiss you!! You’ve been dating for a while and he’d finally built up the courage to be more physically affection and you just ran from his kiss each time.
He stopped attempting a lot at one point because he just needed to think about it some more before trying again
He debated about asking some of the other pillars at first but caved in and ended up asking Tengen. He figured he’d know since he has three wives. And they could correct him if he was wrong since they would know more about how women think
“Giyuu, my flamboyant man! You just gotta swoon her some more!! Go on a romantic date, buy her some flamboyant jewels, drown her in all of your affection and say how blessed you are to be in the presence of such beauty then just kiss her!!! That’ll flamboyantly work, no question about it!!”
Giyuu didn’t feel like that was right. He’s been on dates with you before and you’ve both throughly enjoyed them. And you were fine with hand holding, hugs and other physical touch. It was just the kiss you would avoid. Then one of Tengen’s wives just looks and her husband like he’s a mad man and tells Giyuu to just talk to her about it.
Giyuu believes that’s the better option and decides to do that instead.
He still takes you out on a date though but less “flamboyant” Tengen claimed it should be. It was a simple one of just going through a long walk in garden after going to one of your favorite restaurants.
You both were relaxing near a pond when Giyuu turned to you
He stared at your face, looking it up and down. Taking in all your beautiful features that shined under the full moon’s bright light. You eyes stayed locked on his, watching them scan all over you. You felt your cheeks heat up and your heart skip a beat.
He started to lean in close and his hand shyly cupped your cheek, his thumb barely and softly grazing your skin back and forth. His eyes looked down to your lips and he inaudibly muttered out your name. His face slowly getting closer, his cool breath fanning against your heated skin.
You panicked and reacted without thinking. Your head quickly dips down and lands against his chest with a small thud.
“I-I’m sorry, Giyuu. I just....” you stuttered out embarrassed
“Y/N, what is it? Why do you always avoid my kiss? Is... is it something about me?” Giyuu stumbles out timidly as he wraps his arms around you, one of his hands landing on the back of your head where he started to stroke your hair gently.
“No.. it’s not you at all... I’m just... I’m just really nervous..” you managed out as your head burrowing deeper into his chest from embarrassment.
“My Love, why are you so nervous?” He asks with slight concern, moving you off his chest so that he could look at you.
Your face burned more from the thought of telling him you haven’t had your first kiss yet. Your eyes darted to the side, too shy to make eye contact, “Because I’ve never done it before....”
Giyuu’s eye widened. So that’s why you kept avoiding it! It wasn’t him at all, you were just so racked up by your nerves. He completely understood why you’d be so nervous. Even being nervous enough to accidentally act without thought.
“Oh, Y/N. I’m so sorry... I should have thought more about that. I didn’t realize it was making you so scared and nervous. But I promise I would never judge you on anything like that. I will wait until you feel more comfortable and ready.” Giyuu soothes as he continues to rake his fingers through your hair and hug you close to his body.
“I want to kiss you, I really do. I just get so scared when the time comes that I just... chicken out each time. I want to kiss you so much right now...”
Giyuu’s heart skips a beat after hearing your plea for a kiss. He feels heat creeping up his necks and into his face and ears. He shyly looks to the side as a poor attempt to hide his silly smile and now radiant blush. “Then let’s take it slow, My Love.”
He combs some of your loose strands of hair to the side and leaves his hand resting on your face. His eyes flicker from your eyes to your lips. He leans in slowly to make sure not to make you too uncomfortable.
You heart was pounding against your chest as you saw him getting closer and closer. His half lidded eyes moving up and down your face. You felt yourself slowly getting closer to him. You hands found their way to his biceps, slightly tugging on his haori. His free hand slowly grazed down to your waist, pulling you closer to his body.
You felt a sudden rush course through you and your lips fervently crashed against his. And small noise of surprise came from his throat and his body jolted. But he quickly turned into putty because he finally felt your soft lips against his. You both felt like you had fireworks erupting in your chests. It all felt too good.
You pulled away from him, a small smack coming from your lips. You looked at him and say the goofiest but also most heartwarming smile on his face. His cheeks were bright red and the tips of his ears the same shade. His eyes just sparkling with pure joy and bliss. You quickly got shy and hid your face in his chest again, gaining a small chuckle from him.
His put his hand on the back of your head and nuzzled his face on top, leaving a small kiss.
“I love you so much, Y/N...” he mumbles out in your hair.
Your arms wrapped tighter around his body, your hands forming tight knots in his haori and you mumbled into his chest, “I love you too, Giyuu.”
Chapter 6 - Festival
Gojo Satoru x Female Reader
Tags: Friends with Benefits, Smut, Teasing and a little bit of Fluff.
Summary: Your best friend Rina is curious about what's been keeping you so busy, and the two of you run into Gojo and his student at a food festival.
A/N: I have been working on my jjk fics but this chapter was a little bit difficult for me to write. A little bit of backstory and plot building here. Gojo and personal space? Non-existent. You can't tell me that the man wouldn't abuse his flirting rights.
- - -
“Aren’t you a little warm in that top?”
Rina glanced at the high collared t-shirt you were wearing under your mini dress. The top covered the marks that Gojo left on your neck but the material was a little too thick for the summer heat. Thankfully, there was a breeze cooling you off otherwise you would be dripping with sweat.
“I’m fine,” you replied, directing your attention onto the vendors instead of your best friend’s narrowed eyes.
Rina asked you to come along to check out a food festival set up in the city. The entire district was lined with painted stalls which made for a picture perfect scene. The rich aroma of cooked food danced around you, enticing the bustling crowd that was growing in numbers. From golden battered fried takoyaki balls to mouthwatering barbecued yakitori, rainbow cotton candy that sent strings of sugar into the air and sweet kakigori to cleanse the palette…
Everything was making your stomach grumble.
“Oh, let’s get okonomiyaki!” Rina suggested.
After picking up your orders, you both sat at an empty table where you could enjoy your meal. You were ignoring the way Rina continued looking at you suspiciously, clearly not letting go of her obsession with the top you were wearing.
“Okay, that’s it. Let me see it.”
“See what?” you questioned, covering your mouth as you tried to chew on your food.
“The hickey you are hiding.”
You nearly choked as you swallowed but Rina didn’t flinch at your reaction. You patted your chest lightly, clearing your throat as you gathered your thoughts.
“I’m not hiding anything!” you replied defensively.
Rina rolled her eyes at you, “then at least tell me who the guy is…”
You waved your arm nonchalantly in her direction, desperately trying to avoid getting into a losing battle with your best friend. If there was one person in the world who didn’t need superhuman abilities to tell what you were thinking - it was Rina. She read you like an open book, making it near impossible for you to keep a secret from her. How you managed to go this long without her figuring out you were hooking up with Gojo was a miracle.
“I just want to know exactly what has been keeping you so busy recently,” she continued, “I’m having a hard time believing it’s work because you would be in a miserable mood if you were spending all your free time at the office.”
“ Or we can talk about how absolutely delicious this is...” you blurted, letting her words travel in your ear and out the other as you pointed at the meal in front of you.
Rina lifted her brow, shaking her head in disapproval. She calmly placed her chopsticks on her plate, leaning forward a little closer to you before hooking her finger in the collar of your shirt and tugging it down to check your neck.
“LIAR!”
You clasped your hand over the mark, your eyes widening as you prodded your best friend with your other finger.
“Oh, you are in trouble!” a sly smile spread across her pretty face, “when did you start dating again? I thought you swore off men after what happened with the fitness instructor..”
“Please don’t remind me of him…”
“Then who is this mystery man that you are hiding?”
You pressed your lips together, hesitant to reveal the truth about the deal you and Gojo had made. Yes, you were having fun together and none of it was supposed to be as serious as you were making it out in your head. In fact, Rina would probably applaud you for initiating this to begin with.
But…
Rina also liked to ask hard questions: why were you using him instead of confronting your heartbreak? Why were you chasing after something false instead of trying for real love again? Do you really want to risk ruining the friendship you both have?
Those were questions that you didn’t have the answers to.
“It’s...It’s some guy at work, you don’t know him…” you stated, finally settling on a good enough excuse to satisfy her curiosity
“How long have you been seeing him?”
“Just a few weeks…” you fibbed.
“Tell me what he’s like?”
“Uhh…he’s fun, I guess …handsome, kind of charming…but it’s only been a few dates, I still don’t really know him well yet.”
You swallowed hard, hating yourself for not having the courage to tell Rina the truth. Your best friend continued throwing questions at you while your brain spat out the answers before you could even think things through, your guilt twisting your insides with all the lies you were spewing.
“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner…”
Rina smiled, placing a hand on your shoulder and giving it a gentle squeeze. “I just want you to be happy. If you like this guy, you should give him a chance. Who knows, maybe this could turn into something serious…”
“I am not really looking for anything serious,” you admitted, allowing yourself to be vulnerable. “At least not right now…”
How could you want something serious after what happened?
You and your ex-boyfriend were together for five years. You met him when you were both at university and he swept you off your feet. His handsomeness showed through his kind personality and he always managed to make you smile. He was your first of many things, including this painful heartbreak.
You hated yourself for getting comfortable with him, for allowing your mind to plan a future that you both could share. You were disappointed that he made you fall in love with him but more so, that he abandoned you to piece together what was left.
You always felt like you never had your closure. When you asked him why he cheated, he never gave you a solid answer. He was ashamed for keeping his infidelity a secret for so long that his only response was a pathetic apology.
Who was this woman that he was willing to jeopardize your relationship for?
Why did he stop loving you?
You blamed yourself because you couldn’t understand.
One minute you were happy and the next you found yourself betrayed in the worst way possible.
You had enough respect for yourself to know that you couldn’t stay with a man who would treat you this way. When you broke up, you expected him to beg for your forgiveness. He was your prince charming, of course he would come crawling back.
You only knew that he had moved on with his lover when you caught the two of them at the supermarket together. They were buying peas, completely entranced with one another and the adoration that your former boyfriend used to look at you with was now passed on to the woman with golden hair.
He was your weakness and you…
You still loved him.
Rina’s eyes shifted to the crowd, pausing when she recognised a face among the sea of strangers.
“Oh! Look who is over there!”
You glanced over your shoulder, following her line of sight until you saw your dirty little secret wave at you from a distance.
Gojo was eating ice cream, mindlessly swerving around the crowd and looking exceptionally fine in his summer fit. Adorned on the top of his head were cat ears, a little souvenir trinket that some of the vendors were selling at their stalls. His free arm was draped across a teen boy’s shoulder, whose unamused face indicated that he was not keen on being here.
“Rina-chan!” Gojo sang as he approached your table, “it’s nice to see you!”
“You too! How are things?”
“Great! Busy with the usual but today I decided to stop by with my student. This is Megumi…”
The boy awkwardly bowed to greet you and Rina.
“It’s nice to meet you both…”
Gojo’s shades slid down his nose slightly, and you caught a glimpse of those blue eyes. When he winked in your direction, you couldn’t help but blush.
“What are you two up to?” he casually asked.
“Well, I finally got Miss “Busy All The Time” to myself today and we just had some okonomiyaki, that guy over there is selling it…”
Gojo hummed and swirled his tongue around his vanilla ice cream before calmly replying, “I know, she’s been so preoccupied lately! Oi, when are we going to have our catch up session?”
Your face grew warmer, Gojo was good at keeping secrets and him playing off like he hasn’t been the one taking up all of your spare time only resulted in you staring at him with furrowed brows.
Thankfully, Megumi interrupted the conversation.
“I’m going to walk around for a bit,” he stated, turning his heel to walk away from your little group.
“I’ll meet up with you in a minute,” Gojo replied with a nod.
“I’m also going to use this opportunity to find the restroom. Gojo can keep you company until I get back,” Rina added, as she stood up from her seat.
Gojo gave her a thumbs up, “happily!”
The sorcerer took Rina’s place, sitting down across from you while his long legs bumped into yours as he adjusted his position. He paused for a moment, watching your friend and his student disperse into the crowd before finally returning his attention back to you.
“Nice outfit by the way but a little warm for today’s weather in my opinion.”
“I wonder whose fault that is…” you mused, pressing your lips together to stop yourself from smiling at his teasing comment, “I bet you think you’re so cute assuming you’re completely innocent in all this.”
Gojo smiled, “Actually, I know I’m cute.”
You couldn’t deny it, even right now as you watched him with those ridiculous cat ears that pulled back his white locks. He definitely was catching the eye of every girl and guy who passed by.
You flicked one of the black ears on his head,  “this is a new look for you…”
“I bought it for Megumi but he wasn’t too pleased wearing it around, kept saying that I was embarrassing him...” Gojo explained with a frown.
He leaned forward, resting his elbows on your thighs and bringing the ice cream in his hand to your face.
“Want a taste?” he asked innocently.
Your heart skipped a beat, unaware that Gojo would get this close to you in public. He knew that you hadn't told anybody about what you both have been doing and you wondered if he was deliberately trying to put you in an awkward position. You subconsciously scanned the crowd to see if Rina or Megumi were around.
You tilted your head back slightly before asking, “do you understand the concept of personal space?”
“Relax,” Gojo said in a low voice, “no one is paying attention to us.”
“What if they come back…”
“I’ll see them before they see us,” he replied with confidence, grazing his free hand over your thigh. “Besides, you look like you could use something to cool you off…”
You arched your brow, deciding to give in and play this little flirtation game. You bit your bottom lip, gently wrapping your hand around his slender fingers and slowly leaning forward to lick the ice cream off his cone. You kept your gaze on Gojo, focusing on the devilish smirk that spread across his lips as he watched with approval.
“Mmm, that is good…” you moaned, before looking at him with glittering eyes, “wait, I didn’t get any ice cream on my face, did I?”
Gojo chuckled under his breath, “you’ve got a little something right here…”
His hand moved up to your face, his fingers holding your chin as he brought your lips to his. You inhaled, holding your breath as you were caught off guard by him stealing a kiss. The moment was fleeting and before you knew it, he parted his lips from yours but trailed his hand down your neck to take a peek at the hickey he left on your skin.
“I usually don’t care about where I mark you but if it’s a big concern I’ll make sure to do it in places where only I can see…”
Even though he spoke in a low whisper, you felt like it was loud enough for the whole crowd to hear how flustered you just got by his words.
You cleared your throat, turning your face away from him to regain your composure. “Behave, Satoru…”
“Mmm,” he hummed, “I could keep going but Rina will be back in any minute…”
You sensed a hint of annoyance in his voice when he said that.
The sorcerer leaned back, inviting the space that separated you both as he ate his ice cream with indifference. Sometimes you wish you could flip the switch as easily as he did but you found it impossible.
Rina arrived before you could even respond to his statement.
“What did I miss?” she asked, patting Gojo lightly on the shoulder to request returning to her seat.
“Nothing special,” Gojo answered with a shrug as he stood up , “I think I’m going to head back and find this kid before he leaves without me knowing.”
“Enjoy the rest of your evening! Also, you should stop by the candy shop sometime. I’ve been working on some new treats I think you might like…”
“I will,” he promised, stretching the lying game even further. He proceeded to remove the headband he was wearing, his white hair flopping over his shades as he handed you the cat ears. “Hold on to these for me won’t you…”
You took it, puzzled by the sudden gesture.
“What for?”
“Just an excuse to pick it up from you later,” he remarked innocently, “otherwise I’ll never see you!”
Rina laughed, clearly not catching on to his hidden invitation. Gojo waved goodbye and walked away, leaving you both to return to your date.
For a moment you thought your lie was about to catch up to you but realised that it was easy keeping this secret because nobody would expect you to hook up with Gojo.
You guys have been playing this song and dance for a while, saving your flirtatious banter and curiosities for when you two were alone together. Maybe you’ll come clean eventually, but for now you wanted to enjoy the bubble you were in.
You played with the cat ears in your hand, completely unaware that you were smiling to yourself.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Background: Y/N is a transfer student who joined Karasuno High in her second year because her family shifted to Miyagi. She is a volleyball player and plays as a wing spiker (ace) in the Girl’s Volleyball team.
Pairing: Karasuno x fem reader || Romantic Pairing: Asahi x fem reader
NOTE: Y/N plays volleyball in this. I am not familiar with all the rules of the game so pls 2 forgive if I get any of the technicalities wrong.
Genre: Fluff and comfort with sprinkles of comedy this time! || SFW
A/N: At last, the final chapter. Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. I really poured my entire soul into this. --------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Say, since you guys are already here. Why don’t you stay and watch us practice?" Asahi's lifespan is being shortened with every word as Suga invites Y/N and Michimiya to watch them practice. Asahi waits with bated breath. Even though he is extremely nervous, a part of him does want you to stay. So, when you do say yes, he doesn't know whether to feel happy or run out of the gym screaming. As they walk off to warm up, Suga whispers to him, "I know you're probably thinking about how you're going to fuck up your play and embarrass yourself in front of her. But while you're at it, maybe you should also think about what will happen if you actually play well." Asahi nods. "Suga." "Hmm?" "Thank you. For everything you just did. I really do appreciate it." "Of course! I'm just glad it worked out well." "And you are right, I do like her. I don't know her much but I would like to." "Aha, finally some truth around here! Well, then we just gotta make sure you give her a show worth remembering!" Suga says, winking.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Michimiya had been watching the game intently, as was evident by her gasps and comments on everything. But you? You hadn't been able to keep your eyes off of Asahi the entire game. So much so, that you had barely given a second thought to the first years' amazing quick attack or Nishinoya's outstanding libero skills.
Asahi's spikes, his serves, his receives, his posture, his spirit, and his determination had you just...rapt with attention.
"In case you are wondering, yes, he is single." Michimiya's whisper startles you.
"W-what?" you start to blush. "I'm just taking notes!"
"But I didn't even specify who I was talking about."
You turn redder.
"He's really nice too, you know. A very genuine and kind person. I think you two would make a cute couple."
Your face is so hot now that you're sure you'll hear a sizzle any moment. You turn your head back towards the game to avoid Michimiya's gaze.
"I- I don't know who you are talking about."
Michimiya chuckles. "Of course you don't."
Even though you can feel Michimiya's gaze on you, you can't help but smile as you watch Asahi land another beautiful spike in the opponent's court.
You didn't know, of course, that you being around and watching him had been a huge boost of motivation for him to perform at his peak. You didn't know how he had been wondering what you were thinking about him the entire game. You didn't know how hard it had been for him to not glance at you after every move he made, just to see your reaction.
But he didn't know how you had felt either. He didn't know how your heart rate sped up every time he came on to serve. He didn't know you had also felt frustrated whenever his spike got shut down, feeling as though you had been shut down. He didn't know how you had wanted to shout and cheer him on but you hadn't because you didn't want to come off as a weirdo.
Truly, you would make a good couple.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Practice is now over. Asahi's team won both the practice matches (of course they did, Suga would not have had it any other way). You and Michimiya walk over to the third years. As Michimiya starts gushing to Daichi about their game, you turn to Asahi.
"You were really - glorious, brilliant, like a God, I wish you were spiking me instead - amazing out there," you say, your eyes full of admiration.
Asahi instantly turns a deep shade of red.
"Th-thank you." He says with a smile.
"See, I told you he is great!" Suga says with a proud smile on his face.
"You were right. Karasuno really has a very talented ace."
"No, it has two of them," Asahi says, looking at you with a smile.
Now it is your turn to blush.
"Aah, I wish. I'm not quite there yet. I'm definitely nowhere close to your level," you say.
"I would love to help you any way I can."
"I would be honoured to learn from you," you say with a bow.
Suga piped up, "It's Saturday tomorrow! The boys' gym will be free till 10AM. If you want, we can practice here early morning. Say, around 7? Asahi can teach you the techniques and I can set for you both. We'll ask Daichi and Michimiya too if they want to join." and before you can answer, Suga is off to ask Daichi and Michimiya.
Wow, he really doesn't wait for an answer, huh.
Asahi looks at you and he can see you're a little unsure. "Everything okay?"
"Yeah, it's just... I really don't want to bother you guys so early in the morning like that."
"It's no problem at all, we usually practice early on the weekends anyway." Asahi says with a reassuring smile. That seems to melt your doubts away.
Suga walks back to you. "I've spoken to the two of them, they will join us but a little later."
"It's sorted, then." you say, smiling.
Of course, Asahi was the one who ended up walking you home that night.
Of course, Suga was "late" for the morning practice the next day, giving you and Asahi a lot of time to get comfortable around each other get nervous and DIE.
Of course, situations like these happened more than a few times.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before you know it, two months have passed. With Asahi and Michimiya's help, you improved tremendously and the Karasuno Girls Volleyball team cleared the first set of qualifying rounds for the Spring Interhigh. And so did the boys.
During this time, you and Asahi have become really good friends. Since you two live in the same area, you often end up going to school and walking home together, giving you a lot of time to talk about every topic under the sun. It took a while but you are now very comfortable around each other. In fact, Asahi himself wonders how he is able to tell you things so easily.
Both of your friend groups (and your entire school, also the neighbouring schools, random passersby, street dogs, birds flying past - you know, basically anyone with eyes) can see that you two are absolutely head-over-heels for each other. The only two people who don't know it are you two.
The way Asahi had gone out of his way to teach you everything he knew; how patiently he had walked you through every technique, every mistake; how he had sweetly asked you for permission every time before correcting your posture and showing you the right finger placement (mind outta the gutter fellas, we talking about volleyball here); how every time he did that, you felt a jolt of electricity whenever his fingers touched you (I promise it is still about volleyball); how he cares about even the littlest things regarding you; how every time he smiles reassuringly at you, the world feels all right again; how supportive and encouraging he has been through it all: You have fallen for him harder than you have ever fallen in your entire life.
And you just keep falling harder and harder every moment you spend with him. He has become your comfort now. No matter how stressed or nervous you are, just having Asahi around makes you feel much calmer and confident.
Asahi, on the other hand, has smiled more in these last two months than he has ever smiled. He can't help it, being around you just makes him feel like he is floating. He was blown away by how talented and hard working you are and is so proud of the progress you have made.
The way you are so kind to him. The way you always speak up whenever someone makes fun of him. The way you always hype him up and believe in him. The way the world seems to stop every time you smile at him. The way your laugh has become his favourite sound in the world. Asahi could not be more enamoured by you even if he tried. You too, are his comfort now. He knows he can talk to you about every "sentimental" topic on earth without being made fun of.
The only problem is: You both are afraid that this comfort you find in each other will be ruined if either of you confesses and the other does not reciprocate your feelings. It is now a waiting game to see who spikes their ball into the other's court first, if at all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You are shaking. Partly with excitement, partly with nerves. After defeating Tohoku High, only one school remains between you and the nationals: Niiyama Joshi, one of the most powerful schools that always makes it to nationals when it comes to the Miyagi prefecture.
The boys' game had ended earlier than yours and they had already left the stadium. You were absolutely delighted to hear that they beat Seijoh. Now, they have to face Shiratorizawa, another powerhouse school that always makes it to the nationals.
You and Asahi both have your own mountains to climb tomorrow.
As you are walking out of the stadium with your teammates, you spot something.
"Hey, you guys go ahead, I will be right there." you say and turn back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's been a very long day but you cannot sit still at all. You cannot stop thinking about the match tomorrow. Your hands are sweaty knees weak, arms are heavy because you keep clenching your fists open and shut as you pace around your bedroom. You had hoped to be able to meet Asahi and maybe feel a little better but by the time you had reached school, the boys had already left. You know how big a day it is for him tomorrow too so you don't want to bother him by asking him to meet. However, you should at least text him and congratulate him on his victory. You open your phone and see you already have a message from him:
Asahi: Hey, I heard you guys beat Tohoku! Congratulations! I knew you could do it.
You smile.
You: Thanks, I still can't believe we did that!!! Congratulations on beating Seijoh!! I heard it was a close match.
Asahi: Thanks! Yeah, it was anyone's game by the end. It was really intense. But we managed to win. Also, I had full faith that you would make it!
You: Damn, wish I could have seen it. Sooo, Shiratorizawa next. How are you feeling?
Asahi: Really, really nervous. They're really strong and I don't think anyone believes we can beat them.
You: Well, you just gotta prove them wrong, then! I truly believe that you guys can do it.
Asahi: I really hope so. Anyway, what about you? How are you feeling about going up against Niiyama tomorrow?
You: Honestly, I cannot stop shaking and thinking about tomorrow. We are so close and I just don't want to screw up and let my team down.
Asahi: Can you get out of your house?
You stare at your phone for a moment before replying.
You: Yeah, I can sneak out the backdoor. Why?
Asahi: Sneak out after 5 minutes. I'll be there.
You: You sure about this? It's late and you need to rest for tomorrow too.
Asahi: I'm sure and I'm already on my way.
You grab your schoolbag and quietly make your way out the backdoor. You see Asahi standing outside your house. He's wearing a purple t-shirt and is carrying a bag in his hand. He smiles and waves at you as you make your way towards him. The knots in your stomach are already starting to loosen.
"Hey, Asahi!"
"Hey, Y/N, I'm sorry for making you sneak out like this but... I couldn't help myself when I read your messages."
"No, it's completely alright. Actually, to be honest, I was kind of hoping to meet you too. I-I always feel calmer after talking to you."
Asahi blushes.
"R-really?"
"Yeah."
"I always feel better after talking to you too."
You can feel the heat starting to build in your face as you smile at him in response.
Asahi continues, "I-I know I am not good with words. But I want to tell you that I know exactly how you feel. You won't let anyone down. I have seen you play and really, you have nothing to worry about. You have made it this far and you are strong enough to take it further."
His words make you want to cry. He has always shown so much faith in you. You look at the ground and don't say anything as you try to hold back your tears.
"-And I - uh - got you something that I thought might make you feel better."
You look up in surprise and you see him reaching his hand into the bag he brought with him. As you watch, he pulls out a light blue cloth. It's a t-shirt.
You gasp as you recognize what it is.
He holds the t-shirt open by the sleeves so that you can read what's written.
It's a "The Way of the Ace" T-shirt.
Tumblr media
"Oh my God!!" you say loudly.
He is completely thrown off by your reaction as you throw your head back and laugh.
Oh no. Does she think this is lame? Asahi starts to panic.
You reach into your own bag and pull out a similar looking light blue cloth. Asahi's eyes widen.
"I bought this today at the stadium for you. I know how important tomorrow's match is for you and I knew you'd be nervous so I wanted to give you this as a motivational sort of good luck thing." you say as you hold out a larger sized "The Way of the Ace" T-shirt.
All of your tension and nerves melt away as you both stand there laughing and holding the T-shirts.
"I hope I got the right size," Asahi says as you exchange the t-shirts.
"Same."
"It's perfect!" You both say at the same time and erupt into a hearty laugh again.
"Thank you, Asahi. I feel a lot better now. Really, thank you for everything. We wouldn't have made it this far if not for your help."
"It was all you, Y/N. All I did was show you the way. You walked it on your own."
"Yeah, you showed me the way of the Ace." you say, smiling.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The score is 30-31 and it is match point for Karasuno Girls' High School against Niiyama Joshi for what seems to be like the 100th time. It has just been ties after ties after ties and every set has stretched well into the 30s. Somewhere at the beginning of the fifth set, you looked up to see the Karasuno boys piling into the stands to cheer your team on. From the looks of it, they won their match against Shiratorizawa.
Playing such intense 5 sets back to back has taken a massive toll and the players on both sides of the court are at their limit. However, it is now your turn to serve and if you manage to get this point, you will be through to the nationals.
"Y/N, GIVE US A NICE SERVE!!" the boys cheer for you from the audience.
Your knees are quaking and you feel like you can barely stand, much less run or jump. You are so out of breath that you feel like you are going to pass out any minute. As you somehow force yourself to walk into position, you can feel your knees buckling under you.
As you stand there, waiting for the referee to blow the whistle, your eyes instinctively search for Asahi. Even though he is far, you can easily spot him due to his height and the familiar light blue t-shirt he has changed into after his match.
As your eyes meet, Asahi cups his hands around his mouth and BELLOWS.
"JUST ONE MORE. YOU GOT THIS!"
The whistle blows.
BAM.
You barely have time to realize what happened as you are tackled to the ground by your teammates. There's a lot of hugging and crying and shouting.
As you recover from your shock, it finally registers. It was a service ace. Niiyama's libero had tried to dig the ball but it had bounced out of bounds.
You've won.
Tears of exhaustion and exhilaration start to flow from your eyes as you hug your teammates.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your feet are killing you as you walk out of the locker room towards the bus, wearing your own WotA t-shirt. It's late and the corridor is silent and empty as you're one of the very last few people to leave.
"I told you you could do it."
You look up and see Asahi standing a little further ahead, smiling at you.
You don't say anything, you just walk up to him and hug him. He seems taken aback but only for a bit as, barely a second later, you feel his large arms wrap around you tightly.
You both stand there for a while, both too exhausted to speak but finding comfort in each other's arms. It just feels so...right. Like this is exactly where and how you are meant to be.
When you finally break apart, you can see that Asahi is looking a little nervous.
"S-say, Y/N. I was wondering... i-if you would maybe want to go on a- on a date with me?"
Your eyes widen in surprise.
"It is completely okay if you don't! I'm sorry I shouldn't have said anythi-"
"Yes, yes, YES! I will go on a date with you."
"Really? You really want to go out with me?"
"Yes. Honestly, Asahi, I fell for you a long time ago. I was just afraid of freaking you out and ruining our friendship. So, I didn't say anything."
Asahi let out a little laugh. "It's freaky how we think so similarly because same." He takes your hand in his. "I fell for you the day I met you. And I just kept falling harder and harder the more I got to know you. I just never imagined you would feel the same way for me too."
"I do, I do, I so do! I always have!"
Both of you have the biggest smiles on your faces as you stand there holding hands and looking into each other's eyes.
You suddenly start to blush furiously.
"So...um...since we usually seem to be thinking the same thing. Um, would you like to kiss me?"
Asahi's eyes open so wide that you're worried they'll pop out of their sockets any minute. He is blushing furiously as he simply nods and leans in.
Your heart is thundering as your lips meet. But, it's Asahi. He kisses you with such tenderness and affection that you just melt into him.
The two aces of Karasuno walk out of the stadium hand-in-hand, wearing their matching WotA T-shirts. You're going to nationals, you've found some really great friends and you have found each other. Life is good.
FIN.

Finally, I am so happy with how this turned out. I was stuck for a while trying to decide where to go with this story and I was panicking a little about not updating sooner. But I am glad I did not hurry this up because I really LOVE the turn this took in my head which it wouldn't have if I hadn't let the ideas stew in my mind for a while.
I know this was a long read but I really hope you guys enjoyed it and it was worth the read and the wait.
