A pity, really.

I expected better from you. However I can't blame you and the emotional storm you brought yourself into. Afterall, having the man you called "Grandfather" turn on you and slaughter your family one day is an understandable thing to fuss over. Personally, I could care any less if my brother died. Your aunt and I would be just fine, frankly. Everything would be better off with one less Primordial, but really, does that matter now with the problems he helped cause?

Regardless, I'm getting ahead of myself.

The former lover of the god of life. Your grandmother is a powerful goddess of magic, and the giver of it to her mortal disciples known as "Magi". She's been cast out of the Pantheon due to being blamed for her inability to stop your grandfather. Currently, she's been deem "mad" for her constant dreamy attitude despite the horrible circumstances occurring around her.

Daughter of the primordial cosmic goddess Emmera and the [late] god of fate Karma. She is your cousin and a fellow traveller in your journey. For being the goddess of peace, she isn't a very tranquil person, often resorting to violence at every inconvenience. She holds a calm aura whenever she's around, a bit aloof and insensitive at times, though has a soft spot for loved ones.

◈ Sansone (God of the Sun, Wrath, War) He/Him)

Son of the primordial cosmic goddess Emmera and the [late] god of fate Karma. Nyx's older brother and your cousin as well. He's here for the same reason as you and his sister, though mostly just to keep an eye on you both. He has this underlying storm underneath his relaxed façade, but you know better than to provoke it. Often takes the more pacifist route in situations, an opposite to his sister.

You never expected them to join you on this journey. A close confidante and dear friend of your sister, Ectorius is an eccentric and somewhat odd individual. Always blabbering on, and on about making his next greatest magnum opus whenever he can. Though despite how dramatic he is, they are extremely cunning, but he likes to call it "persuasive".

Having lost her village to the same god she worshipped, her faith in the gods has diminished. Seeking justice for her people, she joins you in your journey, unaware of your origins. An astute and patient woman who is willing to risk all for what she thinks is right. You worry for her and her inability to pick up and swing a sword, preferring to use the way of words to handle conflict.

Now she joins you in your journey to, in their words, "beat the bastard that ruined them", though you have doubts that it's simply just that.

Sansone and Nyx's younger brother. Traumatized and confined in the body of a child, he has gone fearful of many things. Samar is often found in the arms of your aunt, clutching a wooden sheep figurine in his hand that he refuses to let go.

One of the three Primordials and one of two of the oldest gods. He's the man who housed you and your remaining family in his realm. Your father and aunt often warn you to stay away from him whenever you can.

Steve Rogers sat up in bed and looked over at the sleeping form of the beautiful woman laying next to him. She was the most exquisite creature he'd ever laid eyes on and she was all his now. It hadn't been easy for them to even reach where they were now. He smiled as examined the way her long, dark hair cascaded down her bare back and how the duvet clung to her nude curves, particularly that around the swell of her belly where their child grew only made her even more beautiful. It was true that when this all began, he never expected to grow any feelings as deep as love, yet they came anyway. He refused to regret it, as he knew she reciprocated those feelings well before they spoke vows that bound them as husband and wife. He slid out of the bed and reached for his robe, pulling it on and securing the tie before walking over to where he kept a decanter of whiskey and a couple of rocks glasses for nightcaps and restless nights like this one. He poured himself a dram and stood over by the window to admire the moonlight.

When a new day reaches dawn

I feel it's worth the wait

But I tumble and I fall

When up against my fate

He thought back on how he ended up with his wife, and he knew she could never know the full truth. He knew his fears of losing her surely would come true if she knew everything. It wouldn't matter about the love they shared anymore, not when everything began as a revenge plot against her father. Steve doubted Alexandra would be so forgiving of him, even with her own issues with the man. The truth was that Steve Rogers and Tony Stark had always been in some form of competition with each other since they were kids. Their families were once allies that turned rivals that he and Tony tried to be friendly and resolve, which lasted a very short amount of time due to their constant need to compete with each other. Tony Stark had a decade on him in age and still couldn't act it. Their rivalry didn't turn ugly until Tony stole Steve's girlfriend that he had been about to propose to for no reason other than to prove he could. Steve then vowed the ultimate revenge against Tony for this because he'd had enough of Stark taking what he wanted because he could. He made a promised to himself right then and planned on using Tony's daughter, Alexandra, once she was of age to get it. The thing Steve never calculated for in everything was him actually falling for her as much as she did him, loving her just as deeply as she did him. It still happened and he wouldn't change falling in love with Alexandra no matter what it changed.

When the barricades come down

I still don't know the end

Steve knew that right now his plans and vows for revenge were nowhere near complete. He planned on ensuring everything came to be as he intended before it was all over. Tony Stark wasn't done in receiving the payback he was owed for his sins, and Steve was not the only one helping see to it that it happens. It made him think back to the day be made his biggest ally in his war against Tony Stark.

When the morning comes alive

Just finished reading the novel for ‘When i stopped being your shadow.’ I gotta say, even if the translation I read was a little choppy in certain places, I absolutely loved the novel!

Rating: 9/10

Synopsis: He was the hand of God, the painter of the century. My husband became the best artist in the empire. And I was his shadow. Even when my work went viral under my husband’s name, even when people spoke ill of me behind my back. It was still good. Because I loved my husband. But on our wedding anniversary. “You are the only person I truly love.” I witnessed my husband whispering his love to my best friend. At the very moment when my husband saw me discovering his infidelity, his face contorted viciously and pushed me away. “Where are you raising your voice to your husband?!” I realized. I realized that that man had never loved me. So I decided to become the evil wife they spoke of. * “I have a special story for you.” Ines suggested in a strained voice. A man as beautiful as God turned his eyes gently to her. “It’s a special story, our newspaper won’t print the case if it’s not good enough……..” “It’s the fall of the painter known as the Hand of God…” Ines continued in a tense voice. “Isn’t this good enough a scandal to be published in Elton, the greatest daily newspaper in the empire?” “Then what does Countess Brighton gain from the scandal?” “My life.”

I loved this.  It was gorgeous and sweeping; amazing writing by Hugo Blick, with a great cast and brilliant acting.  Must give a nod to Rafe Spall, who you may or may not recognize from his turn as William ‘Maniac’ Hunt in Desperate Romantics.  He was incredible in this as the big baddie.  DR is my only other reference for Spall; obviously, I don’t watch a ton of TV, and when I do get around to watching, it is usually years after a show has been and gone.  A great revenge picture, it reminded me a lot of Django Unchained.  Also must mention the title card art and music--the opening is a treat in itself.  If you get a chance, watch it.  At 6 episodes, it can be knocked out in a weekend or a very long afternoon.  Anyone know if Blick wrote this as an original screenplay or adapted it?  I can’t seem to find anything definitive.
