ok thanks! 💕 the whole “iverson is kendall’s biological son” confuses me because it’s right there in the text that he actually isn’t. even accounting for roman’s provocation and w/e theory of reproduction logan might have postulated, the filing-cabinet guy bit and the randos comment are pretty straightforward. i don’t see the ambiguity at all tbh. now moving on to more personal interpretations, yessssss! Good Person doing a Good Thing and Feeling Good, i agree that kendall’s love for sophie is uncomplicated, but imho the same is true with iverson. not much self-reflection other than kendall asking himself if he’s Good or Bad and not wanting to be the father his father was. and if iverson is “half rava” but not kendall’s, can you imagine the implications? this child is rava’s, she carried him for 40 weeks, she’s known him for longer than kendall has. but sophie!!! “bianca won’t let me feed megathump a piece of my bagel” because sophie Knows she’ll get what she wants / “soph! open up!” when kendall demands that sophie open the car door in church and state, because she’s his daughter! he’s manipulative, he’s insane, he thinks his girl has his back. i think that logan, paradoxically, interacts with iverson because he’s the one that needs fixing, the one that needs to be consoled after kendall almost drowns. kendall is so out of touch with his authority as a father, his mere physicality as a man, that he doesn’t even realize that, together with logan, he’s the one forcing his son to partecipate in the food-tasting mindfuck. i think that he simply doesn’t know what to do with a boy lol, it doesn’t come naturally to him, just like every other single thing he’s supposed to do and be

the OP isn't saying he thinks that's what the text is intending, he's just talking about how he enjoys the narrative situation it would create and the character implications that come from that haha

it's more like, Well, what if xyz? What happens then? which is fun!! its fun to think about all the little possible variations of character and how they would impact the narrative in different ways!

all that to say: I do also think Iverson not being Kendall's is interesting too! like. Logan is very obsessed with the idea of modern dynasty and legacy and Kendall spending his whole life the heir apparent is Very Aware of that fact and how much it would hurt his position to not be a father. so for Kendall, the struggle to have kids and seeking out alternate methods of parenthood feels like an enormous personal failure and is obviously a great source of shame for him -- Like. it is so upsetting to him that he physically assaults Roman for bringing it up as a mark against him lol

imo Kendall's relationship to fatherhood is very. emblematic of the way he views his relationship to Logan: Kendall wants to Be Logan, wants to be what's expected of him and follow in his footsteps, and when he's unable to do so he seeks out alternate paths and convinces himself that it's not the result of a failure of expectations but because he's actually Better Than Logan.

So-- he wants to have kids and create a hereditary dynasty because that is what his dad wants. He is unable to do so. He seeks out adoption and IVF and convinces himself that this is what Modern Parenting looks like and he is doing a Good Thing by parenting this way and Logan just doesn't get it because he is the past and Kendall is the future. But in his heart, he knows. He's ashamed.

I think that disconnect creates a mental barrier for Kendall and keeps him distant from his kids, so there's no real emotional connection between them beyond a superficial level: they are his kids so he loves them. You're supposed to love family, so he loves them.

and i think you're right that Kendall is closer to Sophie, but i feel that has more to do with Iverson's autism than anything else really. i think Sophie's the more "accessible" kid for Kendall to talk to bc of that, so she's easier to connect with in kendall's mind, which could be why he reaches out to her after being rejected by rava in church and state

With Iverson I think Kendall sees him as like. a Kid With a Disability and so is focused on ensuring his material needs are met, that he's ok, that he's not under duress, etc, that he never really thinks to like. connect with him as an individual. which I think is true with Sophie too to some extent. like I think he genuinely believes that because he gets the kids whatever they want (ex. a rabbit) he is being a Good Dad

and yes with Logan I pretty much agree. like I think he just ignores them for the most part because he doesn't really view them as "his" but occasionally Iverson will stick out to him in a way where he's like, "I know how to fix this situation and Kendall and Rava are just unable/unwilling to do it the way I see is the Right Way." i have more thoughts on logan but they're all a bit incoherent so I will leave it at that I think

♡ He immediately introduces himself so politely, saying it's an honor to meet your parents and you smile, any vestigial worries you had fading away.

♡ If your he and parents don't speak the same language fluently, he may rely on you a little bit to help bridge the gaps, but he really wants to do his best, so he tries to say anything he can himself and make eye contact with your parents. Will absolutely try his darndest to compliment their house, what they feed him, everything!

♡ Seungcheol is so caring and used to managing lots of people, so he immediately jumps in with offers to help or even serve your parents. They thank him, but insist he sit down because he's a guest. Neither you nor your boyfriend miss the glance they shoot you, one that says seems like a keeper to me.

♡ My gosh, we all know he's a family man too, so when they ask him about what he wants in life, if he wants to get married or *hint hint* would you guys give them grandchildren, and he says yes, he'd love that, hopefully three sons and a daughter if he can get (y/n) on board, well shoot, they'll practically help him pick out rings then and there!

♡ Oh you already know this man is going to WIN YOUR PARENTS OVER. He's pretty ready TBH. Honestly, while his heart is beating faster, it makes him so happy to be meeting your parents, that almost overrides the nerves (almost). You're so sure they'll love him, it fills his heart, too.

♡ He comes with a gift for your parents, this generous guy! He brings flowers for your mom and a drink you tell him your dad will like, which they happily accept.

♡ If there's a language barrier, he does his best to convey how thankful he is to them to be visiting the home of your family and how well they raised you. If you have to say it for him, he greatly appreciates how flustered you look repeating his words, barely resisting the urge to pinch your cheeks in front of your mom and dad.

♡ He helps you set the table, meeting your eyes as you lay everything out with a deep gaze because this all feels so domestic and as a loving homebody, it's perfect. Where you guys are almost fades away in his mind until he hears your mother thank him, shooting back up and away from you to look at her once more.

♡ Goodness me this man is an intent listener. He truly enjoys hearing the stories your parents tell and has very clear answers to their questions. He knows what he likes to do and is mature enough to answer with confidence that he wants a committed relationship, a future with their child if you want that, too- which you of course agree you do. He also delights your parents by answering the grandkid question, getting a bit flustered but happily telling them if you were down, he loves the idea of becoming a father of two personally.

♡ They can see as you sit together how much love Jeonghan looks at you with. It just totally fills up his eyes and the way he turns to you. So much so that when you go over to where the dishes are being washed, your father having been chatting with the two of you, she tells you she's never seen someone so loving with you. When you tell your boyfriend how he touched your mom's heart, he almost tears up, but instead settles for just about yanking you into the house and cuddling the heck out of you. He also thanks you for the experience, it was very sweet even if there were awkward moments at first.

Joshua

♡ "Meeting the parents is always the hardest part!" Joshua exclaims, though his tone sounds half-joking, not despairing. You chuckle at him, leaning a bit closer. "Be for real, Joshua, have you ever had problems with people's parents?" "No," he admits, "they usually seem to like me." "Then don't be worried," you tease him.

♡ Joshua knows a little bit of a handful of languages, so while the chances of a big barrier are sort of small, if it's there he'll probably ask you how to say all the most basic and polite things so he can properly let your parents know he's grateful to them for opening their home to him.

♡ And that's exactly what he does, says thank you before introducing himself, and right away you see your dad is pleased you're in the hands of a polite young man. He says their house is pretty, too, which your mom never forgets ever.

♡ When it's time to eat, Joshua pulls out your chair for you, leading you to flash a victorious grin to your mother, who looks down and chuckles, giving an amused little head shake. You're so proud of this one.

♡ Eloquent and calm of a speaker as he is, Joshua doesn't seem nervous as he gives explanations to what his parents want to know and describes how he enjoys playing the guitar, some of his favorite experiences he's had with you, like the time he took you skating, and even his favorite parts of living in LA and how it compares to Seoul. The whole time, though, one of his hands has reached for yours under the table and is gently holding it like you're his little anchor.

♡ "Why couldn't you have done this the first time?" Your parents joke to you, a message you surreptitiously relay to Joshua. "Your streak remains intact," you tell him. "So I'm a keeper?" He asks, eyes shining at you like you were a trophy he'd won. "I knew that without them," you shoot back, leaning in to give him a peck on the lips, "but now my parents know it too."

♡ Jun's nervous, but also finds meeting the parents super endearing, so he has some extra energy buzzing as you get ready. He can't wait to see if you look like your parents up close and personal and if their mannerisms are like yours. People have senses of how they are similar to their parents, yet they can never see it all. The way you guys move, the faces you make, all of those are things Jun can't wait to see.

♡ If he has any trouble communicating with your parents, he'll probably get inquisitive, like asking them what they call things or checking with you to make sure what he says is right. May accidentally slip up and call something by its Chinese name in a moment of confusion, but everyone has a good laugh, even Junhui itself.

♡ He tells your parents he can see where you got your good looks from :)))

♡ They ask him questions about his hobbies and work and stuff, so he ends up showing your parents some really impressive dance moves, getting shy when he sees the surprise on their faces, but it gives him some energy. ♡ Something they enjoy about Jun even more is the stories he tells about his little brother. They can tell he's caring and could be a family man: someone they could see themselves trusting with their child. He loves his mother, too, which is clear in the adoring way he talks about her. He'll want to know things your parents like, any pet peeves they have so he can avoid doing them, this man will be studying like it's final exam week! You laugh after a while at all the effort he's putting in considering how to bring up your dad's favorite sport or the movies you guys love to watch. "Don't worry, you're a total people person, Soonyoung. And don't try to pull the introvert card on me, that's different!"

♡ A language barrier would put a slight damper on everything just because all his little tips and pointers he gave himself would be that much harder to bring up, but his desire to connect with people and energy shine through and through no matter what! He probably finds an excuse to give your parents a dance show hehe

♡ He takes such good care of you, all but hovering over you which your parents think is cute. The whole meal you guys share, he's making sure you're getting enough and asking what your favorite is both to make sure you get it and to try a bit himself :)

You just laugh, head falling onto his shoulder.

♡ Just as you said, you have an intelligent boyfriend, so even if he isn't able to fluently speak to your parents, he did some research and can pick up things to say to them pretty quickly, especially if you do any on-the-go translations.

♡ Your parents ask him some questions, naturally, like what Wonwoo enjoys doing. Their eyebrows raise at first when he says he likes to play games, but when he starts talking about reading, they look pleased.

♡ Like duh they are, this guy actually takes care of himself and manage living on his own like an adult and has an international driver's license and can handle interacting with them almost like a peer??? King.

♡ He makes an offhand comment during dinner to reassure you about something and that's when he really sees your parents light up because this man knows and understands you deeply- it's a subtle thing about you that others haven't picked up on or worked with and there he was getting it like it was nothing.

♡ "I think they're happy with you," you commented when the evening was over. "You think so?" "Yeah, they cut the questions and got into deeper stuff pretty fast. I could tell they respected you. "Yeah, I guess they do, but I'm not dating any of their kids. They don't even have-" Resting a hand on your shoulder, you give him one more firm reassurance. "Trust me, don't try or anything. Just be yourself and get to know them."

♡ If Jihoon and your parents speak different languages, he may rely on you a little bit, but the last way he wants to come across is too dependent on you, so he may push himself further out of his comfort zone than he usually would.

♡ He's extremely polite, almost to the point of being formal, so you take the reins of the conversation at first to loosen him up, telling him things about your parents that he can bond with them over or even straight-up hyping him up to them.

♡ Of course, you inevitably bring up music, enjoying the smile that breaks across Jihoon's face, shyly at first at the praise and spotlight, but soon he relaxes, passion flooding into him as he forgets himself just a little. Your parents have their own styles of music and favorite artists, so of course they want to know if your boyfriend ever listens to them. They're impressed to learn how many songs he really writes, that his group has a producer within it, not just singing whatever they're given. ♡ With the possibility of your parents speaking a different language, he'll definitely be extra nervous, but try to say as much as possible. He tries to work in as many jokes as he can and be extra expressive in other ways to get his point across, which is pretty much how he is naturally anyway. No matter if your parents and him speak the same language or not, they'll be laughing a lot together!

♡ One thing you can tell your parents appreciate about Seokmin besides his natural joy and humor is that he's attentive to you; he serves you once your meal is ready, gets you your drink, and makes sure you're situated before lifting a finger for himself. ♡ Get ready for charming guy! Mingyu isn't worried about meeting your parents. Well, there's a small, little teensy tiny part of him that worries he'll do something embarrassing, but he's confident in himself.

♡ If you didn't know your boyfriend so well, you'd be surprised at how boldly he just goes up to your parents and greets them, like wow, so... professional???

♡ Mingyu views a potential language barrier as a personal challenge, something he wants to put work in to overcome. That's probably one of the first things he'll say, in fact: that he wants to work on being able to speak well to your parents for everyone's sake.

♡ From that fear of embarrassment, the closest thing he does to anything like that is just a funny misspeak, and though he blushes everyone laughs so it's really not even all that!

♡ The thing he impresses your parents with besides being outgoing and respectful in his greetings is that Mingyu can cook! As you guys eat dinner, it's something he can bond with your parents over and gain an extra few points of mother's approval with because who doesn't want their kid to score a man who knows his way around a kitchen? Plus your mom mouths to you when he's not looking that he's handsome, lol.

♡ Mingyu gets a huge grin on his face the moment you leave. All you can do is smile and roll your eyes. "They liked me, didn't they?" "Well, if you could tell, of course I could! ♡ Minghao doesn't usually care what people think, like he is who he is and he's secure in that, but hey, no one wants their partner's parents to hate them you know? 🤷🏻‍♀️ he doesn't make some grand plan or worry about establishing a pretense, but just hopes they can see how much he loves their child, too.

♡ If there's a language barrier between them, Minghao puts his all into listening and being intentional with how he interacts with your parents, but he also appreciates that you don't leave him alone with them forever if that's the case, keeping the line of communication open.

♡ If there's any language barriers with your parents, Seungkwan is an amazing boyfriend to have. Even though he's nervous, he immediately smiles and does his best to communicate with them. He'll try using any amount of your parents' language he knows and isn't afraid to repeat things they say to him to learn. He even makes jokes about his own mistakes or just starts talking in gibberish when he's confused, so that breaks tension and lightens the mood too!

♡ His usually affectionate ways stiffen and fade, though, at least at first, because he doesn't know how his parents will react if he touches you, even though he prefers innocent affection like holding your hands in his, putting his arm around you, or giving you a hug from behind. He just doesn't want them to beat his ass lol

♡ Just as you called, Seungkwan is such a naturally outgoing and funny person, he has your parents laughing with the way he tells stories and listens to them intently too, smiling and interjecting little things like "oh really?" and "wow!" so they know he's really giving listening his all.

♡ He's wide-eyed the whole drive, lowkey looking like he's on another astral plane. "You ok?" "Yeah, I just...can't believe this is happening. It's kinda crazy, I've heard stories about your parents, but now I'm going to really see them." "They'll like you," you tell him, a joking smile crossing your face as you elbow him, "they'll be happy I'm finally with someone chill."

♡ If your parents have pets, Vernon totally becomes immediate besties with them, which endears your parents to your boyfriend that much more. He's quiet and gentle with them, and showing a respect for life is a good sign in their eyes.

♡ He'll know already if there's any potential of a language barrier. It intimidates him, especially since he's already a pretty quiet person, so he may do a lot of talking through you, but everything he says is sincere. Probably tries to make a joke to make up for it.

♡ Vernon is one of the more inquisitive ones, asking your parents questions, too. Not interrogating them like they'll want to do to him lol, but he wants to know what they enjoy, how long they've lived where they lived, just little things like that to help him understand them. I mean hey, they're strangers too, you know?

♡ Chan wants to overcome any potential language barriers, so he'll probably keep things concise but as charming as possible, like interjecting small jokes and compliments when he can just to make your parents smile and show he's making an effort.

Encanto info from Jared Bush's Q&As

This is a little place where you can find (hopefully) a lot of info Jared has said in his Q&As. This is if you wanna check smth and don't wanna go on a hunt to confirm it since it's been so long. Idk if I got everything, I highly doubt I did, so if you have a piece of info I don't have and have a link to it, I can edit it on. Ngl I'm also kinda doing this for myself cuz I was curious to know everything he's told us. I'll mostly summarize the answer so it isn't longer than it needs to be, but I'll also copy+paste if I'm too lazy.

The info here kinda varies from interesting, to obvious stuff, to potentially pointless but really any of it can be used to do whatever.

Some of the answers he provided aren't concrete solid ("I think __ would happen", "I always thought ___", etc), so take this all with a grain of salt. I'll try to phrase the uncertain ones differently so you know they're not 100% (probably, possibly, might, etc). If the answer he gives is completely up to interpretation, then I won't include it. Some might be repeated cuz I don't feel like looking back to see if he answered the same question twice.

Antonio's Birthday Q&A #2 (5/21/23)

Canon universe:

Dolores never truly believed Bruno was still around. She heard stuff, but everyone told her he was gone, so she thought she was imagining things. "I knew he never left" was her way of saying "I shouldn't have doubted myself."

Antonio was a shy kid and animals are were easier for him to make friends with.

The potteries in Bruno's room were because it was fairly public for people who want visions, so they're probably a nod to that.

When Pedro went to the attackers when he died, he was planning to reason with them.

Luisa's associated with donkeys because they’re beasts of burden and that’s how everyone treated her.

Mirabel has her embroidery because she loves her family, but potentially also because she subconsciously want to make sure the villagers know despite having no gift she is every bit a Madrigal.

Isabela might potentially secretly like Pepa's chaos.

Julieta's really good at hiding her feelings about the pressure of being the town's healer, but she's also a naturally strong person.

There's a reason why Bruno's single but Jared didn't tell us.

Bruno's favorite food is Ajiaco, but potentially also big butt ants.

Julieta probably noticed Mirabel wasn't in the pic at Antonio's ceremony immediately after it was taken, but Mirabel had already left by then.

For a while, Bruno's limit for future seeing was until the fall of Castia, but now it's limitless.

Alma didn't necessarily approve of Agustín at first because he wasn't overly spectacular or confident.

Mirabel and Camilo got along well when they were young, but after Mirabel's ceremony, Camilo felt more pressure to perform and show off.

Based off the book "Mystery in the Rainforest", Dolores and Mariano are engaged and planning a wedding soon.

There is a school in the Encanto, but since it's closed off and was formed in the beginning of the 20th century, new info would cease.

Pedro might've been the one to know sewing and embroidery. He taught it to Alma, who taught Julieta and Mirabel. She probably taught others but Mirabel did it the most.

5/21 is Afro-Colombian Day, which is why that's Antonio's bday.

There used to be a deleted scene of Mirabel getting grounded by Casita.

The Guzmans originally had the same number of family members as the Madrigals, and each member was like a doppelgänger of each gifted Madrigal child, except Mirabel, who was represented in the Guzman family by a goat.

There used to be a scene where Camilo's gift goes haywire at night or smth (can't figure out the full pic for this one).

Writers considered early on that Mirabel would want to leave, but they decided that from a character and cultural perspective, leaving her family would have been the absolute worst thing she could imagine.

It's never been established how long the ceremony doors appear before the ceremony, but 9 months has been considered.

Early versions would show that Alma had strict parents. It may or may not be true now, but it would make sense.

Mirabel used to have a gap in her teeth to show her quirkiness, but was removed because they wanted to show it in other ways.

Emotions can sometimes affect Bruno's visions.

Camilo often helped take care of babies even before Antonio's birth. He was just naturally good with them.

The stairs in Bruno's room probably grew as he became more distanced, so they probably lessened when Casita came back.

Luisa's favorite sister is probably Mirabel.

Camilo would probably sometimes be happy that Isabela found her true self, while also a bit jealous. It depends on the moment.

The Madrigals' reaction to someone entering the Encanto would probably be chaotic.

As a way to protect them, Alma was always a little strict on her family.

Bruno probably doesn't need the sand for visions, but as time went on he added his own superstitions.

The color of the magic in the end changed. It wasn't the color of the candle anymore, but the colors of Mirabel. What that means? No one knows.

Bruno "felt" his vision cave collapsing and investigated. That's how he knew it was destroyed.

Camilo couldn't really hold a form forever because of how tiring it could be.

Mirabel did have a quinceañera.

Finnick:

Hmm... so, I like him, but while I know he's the Blorbo Ultimate for a lot of people, I don't think I would call him mine. I get why people adore him so much; he does share some characteristics with my favourite blorbos of all time.. maybe it's just that while I'm interested in the Hunger Games, I don't love this franchise as much as people seem to.

And, maybe I'm wrong, but I do feel like the fandom kind of reduces him to a pure sunshine boy™, and though there's nothing wrong with this kind of character, I don't think it's plausible to portray Finnick like that. He's had to win the Hunger Games somehow. He's killed people - at fourteen! - he's been forced to participate in this horror as a mentor - if he's got strong principles, his conscience must torment him. And then, of course, the prostitution thing. He's not 100% good cheer.

(I've heard about someone headcanoning him as Catholic - Irish name, etc - and I love this idea, but that would make him even more conflicted)

Of course, I have to add an obligatory expression of annoyance at the way he was killed. It made no sense and somehow the surrounding characters had zero emotional reaction to it.

If I'm allowed to have another quibble with the text I hate the way he was introduced. I get that the author wanted his actual good character to come as a surprise, but it was gross.

Jonathan:

I don't really have much to say except *general positive feelings*. (I feel like he might even qualify as a Blorbo!)

He's excellent husband material and he's never done anything wrong in his life - except, this applies to both those things - when he said he could become a vampire for Mina. Jonathan, no! I'm sure Mina would prefer you to have a strong moral backbone regardless of her own state.

Halt:

It feels very much a disservice to consider Halt (or anyone in these books) apart from the other characters. They're very much the most interesting together, especially when you consider the humour of the banter.

However, I will say I find his backstory incredibly cool actually. It seems like it got invented pretty late into the series, but actually I think his character fits someone who was raised as nobility (into the "noble" kind of noble, and not the "pampered" kind), but hasn't been leading this life for a while, and has experienced assassination attempts from close family members. I do wonder what his relationship with his sister was like.

I must admit I'm partial to the common headcanon of him as autistic, although, as always with this sort of thing, I'm a bit bothered by the fact that a character may have some autistic traits, but never the less "aesthetic" ones, so

Galadriel:

Tolkien characters, my beloveds! (with the very strong exception of the darksiders, of course)

Anyway, Galadriel/Artanis!

She's not my favourite out of all Legendarium figures (mostly because all of my blorbos come from there), but I like her a lot, especially when you take into account all the Silm stuff, and look at her role in LotR through that lens. It's tragic, to be honest. She's the only one left. Out of 15 grandchildren of Finwë. And she lives in this delightful (to consider - not to experience) state of being caught between homesickness and pride, ambition and regret.

I strongly dislike Tolkien's later attempts to smoothen her out, to make her so perfect - she never really struck me as a Marian figure; there are Marian figures in the legendarium, but Galadriel isn't one. Her Silm backstory is everything it should be.

I also dislike the theory that she was specifically banned from returning to Valinor. It's way more interesting when it's a "no" said in pride, in the wish to be a queen and not a subject, to be one of the most powerful and not one of the less - a "no" that she may come to halfway regret but believes is an irrevocable choice - or is hesitant to take back.

I find an interpretation that takes into account her more complicated characteristics like the fact that she is willing to cover for murderers really worthwhile. The fact that she starts off as the very skilled youngest child of a youngest child of a king, with ambitions and little way to be taken seriously until disaster strikes... chef's kiss.

I eternally loathe the movies' interpretation of her (and of the other elves, though it's most visible in her). Cate Blanchett seems so cold, even when she's trying to seem warm. They went for "otherworldly" and forgot elves are at the same time just as, if not more, grounded as men are.

Sorry if you expected a more LotR-centered take though, I'm afraid the Silm is firmly holding my mind hostage.

There are ancient “sequels” that straight up ignore wukong’s buddhahood and giving him oc kids? Did this author favor taoism too?

I am not too sure about that but I like to think that these are more like the first examples of media that are inspired by Wu Cheng’en's Sun Wukong. Just because there are media out there that has Wukong have children don't mean they are trying to deny Wukong's Buddhist ties or connection that he is the Victorious Flying Buddha, but rather... overlook the idea for the sake of their own narrative purposes. The Supplement can actually fit in “canon” as (spoilers) it is all a dream and Wukongs kids are just a figment of his and the demon's imagination that he accidentally knocked Iron Fan up when he jumped in her stomach. Also, the further that it was a dream was that Red Boy didn’t exist in the dream and Iron Fan only was with Wukong. The author usually explains the tomfoolery by saying “It’s a dream don’t think about it too hard.” Also in Journey to the West After, Sun Luzhen is a stone monkey as well and thus Wukong never went against his vows, simply adopting the stone monkey as his new disciple.

As for Journey to the South, it is more a story about the deity Huaguang dadi as Wukong only makes a guest cameo in the first chapter and the last chapter, the children only being mentioned in the last and even then only Yuebei Xing was the only one with lines and actions. Poor Jidu and Luohou don't even get anything outside of a name-drop. But otherwise, there is also no mention of a wife either. It is left in that territory of... ambiguity where they never really address Wukong having a wife let alone how Wukong got these kids, just that they were his. There is a chance they are adopted but considering he does separate them from his other subjects as he calls his monkey subjects grandchildren, there is a higher chance they are his bio kids. Wukong is addressed by his Great Sage title more often than not but they all acknowledge that he went on the journey is a Buddist disciple under Tang Sanzang as well. So while I do admit it is contradictory I also believe it is one of those cases of "What if"s that is more asking the audience to please give that detail a "suspension of disbelief" treatment rather than trying to make a statement.

I'm not saying that while it would make more sense to keep Wukong as his Buddha title as that is canon in the story, there are a lot of modern media where Wukong does have offspring of some kind for the sake of "what if" cases. Sometimes authors or directors take a lot of leeway with source material for the sake of their own creative ideas and while in most cases I do think that is more for the sake of their narrative purpose than just any religious animosity. I understand that it can be upsetting but Journey to the South does more side-step the idea of Wukong being in a relationship, rather more forced on the idea that Wukong is a father-figure which personally is more of a cute idea that trying to force a romance that is never explored either.

Can we have headcanons about Apollo and his relationship with the fates (definitely not because i miss my sunshine boy) considering Apollo is the god of Prophecy and he tricked them once into letting one of his favorite mortals live in exchange for someone else

whew. ok. this one has been in the inbox for a while because i couldn't think of anything but i've given it some thought recently and this is what i came up with:

first of all. so Apollo's prophetic lineage can be traced back to the titanide Phoebe who was the original goddess of the Oracle of Delphi.

now Phoebe's grandchildren include Hekate, Apollo, and Artemis. so i want to digress and talk a bit about Hekate for a second.

Hekate is associated with witchcraft and magic and crossroads and whatever else, and her mother is Asteria, Leto's sister. and Asteria, of course, was married to the titan Perses until Perses got locked up in Tartarus when Kronos was overthrown and so i've always hc'd that Asteria raises Hekate by herself... and i think Hekate is obviously quite a bit older than Artemis and Apollo.

so, when Leto finally has Artemis and Apollo, i really like the idea of Leto and Asteria living together and raising their children together... and i do like the idea of Apollo and Hekate naturally bonding because they both have that darker magic-y oracle-y side to them.

anyhow. Hekate is associated a lot with the Underworld, and i super super love the idea of Hekate spending a lot of time in the House of Nyx with Nyx learning magic from her. i think Asteria would take her down there sometimes...

so i think Nyx and her children have a really good bond with Asteria and Hekate.... they're not indifferent to Asteria and Hekate the way they are with most of the other Olympians and Titans.

now, Phoebe is the Oracle and she has great oracular (is that a word??) abilities, and so she can give Apollo a lot of her wisdom. but, being a Titan, i think she's quite old at this stage, and i do like the idea that the power of the Oracle wanes with time as new Oracles appear and the power of "fortune-telling" shifts across generations. so, since Apollo now has the Gift, it is a lot weaker for Phoebe.

so i think Asteria has an idea to take Apollo to the House of Nyx to see the only goddesses who's fortune-telling power does NOT wane-- the Fates.

i hc that Zeus approves of this idea too. he has a steady relationship with the Fates because he's the King and he consults with them often anyhow,, and so he figures it'd be good for Apollo to know them also.

thus, Leto brings Apollo to Nyx's house and to the Fates and the three sisters teach Apollo all they know about fate and destiny... and they teach him how dreams are made and how they can be messages, and how dangerous it is to play with fate.

and so Apollo grows up with the knowledge he has gained from his grandmother Phoebe and from the Fates as well.

now we know Apollo wasn't always the guy who abides by the book-- according to Aeschylus, he gets the Fates drunk to convince them to spare his love Admetus' life because he was fated to die, and they agree IF he can find a replacement.

i've always imagined the Fates are very ancient and old (see more Fates hc's here),, and even though they have a playful side, i'm sure that they don't take very kindly to people trying to mess around with fate.

in saying that, i don't think they do much by way of "punishment"... they're advisors, counsellors; not harbingers of justice. so i think, they would be really annoyed with Apollo,, but they wouldn't just entirely drop him from the book of friendship. i think their relationship would just be a bit strange.

however; i also don't think that the Fates and Apollo are besties to begin with... like i said, i think the Fates were more of a teacher to him... and not regular teachers either. just every now and then. so i wouldn't call them "friends" really... just friendly acquaintances.

MDZS Fanon Pet Peeve: the Jiang heir

Warning: Some cursing and expletive language.

I just noticed/realized is that there are fics out there with JWY, the bane of all matchmakers and decent women in all the land, would actually make his head disciple or any other person who wasn't Jiang blood into his heir.

Yes the classist, bigoted, JWY, naming some cultivator he recruited in the war to inherit his position as Sect leader.

I'm sad to know that there are actually fics out there that portray JWY as someone who could care less about the background of their heir and choose them for competency. Or worse. Choose them because they were apparently surviving Jiang disciples that WWX had trained because apparently sentimentality (which JWY never had).

I think worst of them all is when they think JWY would actually appoint WWX as the Jiang heir especially post canon.😱

See where I'm going here? That just goes to show how those writers understood him. Which is to say not at all.🧐

That's why I'm always struck by some fics that show JWY as dying a bitter single unlikeable person that he truly is at the end of the book. Those were particularly good 😊. I found more realistic compared to the drivel that I cannot unread.

I sometimes wish my brain can do selective amnesia so I can unread all the OOC JWY fics I've read in my dark history. 😓

Let's take a look at why he would never allow someone who was at least not his own child or blood relative to become an heir of YunmengJiang and why he shall remain a bachelor for the rest of his lonely angry lifespan.

First of all, I don't think it was really mentioned, but I doubt JWY is the last Jiang besides JL.

He might be the last main line Jiang there is within immediate succession. Maybe he had relatives who married out to come back to bolster the ranks or there were non-clan Jiang disciples who were not prevented from nighthunting were out on a hunt and escaped the massacre to rejoin the sect.

How many besides the main clan are actual gentry? Not a lot unless they married in or they were civilian gentry that joined (I'm calling it civilian gentry cause there was the Mo Family who were a non-cultivation family ruling their village)

I'm guessing not a lot in the Jiang Clan too. The Sect more or less survived the war but the Jiang Clan was probably down to JFM, JYL, and JWY. With JYL marrying out and JFM and YZY dying, the Jiang Clan was unfortunately left with JWY to continue the bloodline. Sucks for them.

YZY would probably roll in her grave, claw her way out of hell, and become a fierce corspe just to make sure that no one other than her children or her grandchildren were to inherit the throne of sect leader. And I believe JWY would think the same as her or seek approval from his parents even after death. Nor would he grant the Jiang name to anyone that wasn't his blood related family. Plus I think he'd rather slit his own throat than adopt some child.

Another thing is the tag Adopted WWX that gets me annoyed sometimes. In the novel he was never adopted he was just taken in as a ward and treated like nuisance. So it confounds me that people actually write how WWX was always in the clan registry or that JWY had the option of naming WWX as Jiang Heir.

If in the novel JFM couldn't deign to give WWX at least legal familial support through adoption why would JWY?

JWY who blamed WWX for a lot of things he never did and still blames him. Who couldn't even look at WWX's relationship with LWJ without sneering in disgust. Would actually give him a position of power that means the most to his egotistical life. Yeah nuh uh. 😑

As for a Jiang heir, he also would never appoint any of his disciples that position. Much less if they were rogue cultivators or backgroundless civilians that he recruited during the war. Much lesser if they were trained by WWX of all people.

He treats all of his disciples like subordinates where his command was unquestioned. What WWX was not are the qualities he looks for in his disciples. JWY would prefer all of his disciples to stay far away from any behavior WWX had. His disciples didn't blink an eye to when WWX was being dragged into an inn to most likely be tortured to death.

As long as JWY lives and breathes and has the final say so he would never appoint, WWX or any of his disciples Jiang heir. Only by some miracle he actually gets married and has a child will the Jiang Clan have an heir because he is mostly like to die single. Also YunmengJiang sect would probably be fine under temporary leadership of someone who is not the Jiang Clan heir.

So why would he forever remain a single fermented grape?

JC stans are probably the only ones that would marry him and those don't exist in the MDZS universe.

One. He was blacklisted by all the matchmakers in Yunmeng.

I would say it takes skill to become rejected by an entire region of eligible families and their daughters. But no he is just an ***hole who can't keep his opinions to himself and aims to be as rude and derisive as possible towards perfectly fine ladies. In the audio drama he insulted a lady's choice of colors and perfume for smelling like, and I quote, "noxious poison". I mean wtf?! If that's how he treats all the females then it's no wonder he's not married yet. Plus three more off screen blind dates that went horrible.

Two. He will never marry because he has standards.

Standards he will probably not budge on. Those were: naturally beautiful, graceful and obedient, hard-working and thrifty, coming from a respected family, cultivation level not too high, personality not too strong, not too talkative, voice not too loud and must treat Jin Ling nicely.

The last one is the only relatively reasonable standard he has set. The rest is just him being picky he might as well get a doll dress it in red and marry it.

Three. No one in their sane state of mind would marry someone with the reputation of a rabid dog.

JWY, has gone on to torture people of inconsequential backgrounds, to death, for years. I say inconsequential because I doubt he would target people who had societal backing. People like Xue Yang who was under the Jins and proven to be a homicidal demonic cultivator with a record of massacring entire clans who he did not pursue because he is a coward.

The slightest suspicion not always with verified proof a person gets dragged to Lotus Pier to be flayed to death with a lightning whip. He barely even proves any of his victims to be demonic cultivators before whipping them or interrogating them further. Lots of firm connotations and even secondhand accounts of people being violently whipped on the the docks of Lotus pier.

WWX as MXY was already allegedly proven to not be possessed but JWY still insists on dragging him to Lotus Pier.

WWX dodged a bullet when LWJ was there to protect him.

Someone tell me if I'm not too far off and this is a viable argument that JWY will remain heirless or at least single for the rest of his f***ed up natural life? And would never name a Jiang heir that doesn't meet his requirements. Maybe even add to this discussion. Much appreciated 😌.

So I have this friend, whom I met through work and we've known each other for a few years, and I've attended the christening of two of his kids and served as godmother for one. We talk and still see each other in person from time to time. But almost every time we talk, he asks me if I'm dating, asks if I like any guys in my workplace, suggests that I use dating apps, tells me I should get married, tells me that he would love to see me have kids and that he wants me to give him little godchildren, and I have to say over and over again that I'm not seeing anybody right now and it's not a priority. Even when we end up having a nice conversation overall, I always end up feeling annoyed by the discussion of romance and relationships. He could be bringing this up all the time to tease me, but the fact that it's so persistent makes me believe it's genuine. Reflecting on it, I realized a couple of things that were really bothering me about it, and they basically come down to:

I think it's a bit presumptuous to just assume that someone who's just your friend - not your best friend since first grade who's practically family at this point, not your sibling or other close relative, but just a friend plain and simple - would make you the godparent of their child(ren). Again, it could be a joke, but if it's not, it makes me uncomfortable because it's like oh geez do we have to have the "i don't know if i feel for you what you feel for me"/the "you're my friend but not my best friend" kind of conversation? Like, yes, sure, I do consider this person a friend. When we hang out, it's fun. But I don't love this friend so much that he would potentially take priority over my actual blood relation as a godparent to my child.

I find this level of scrutiny of my life and intrusiveness into my personal decision-making inappropriate for someone who is, again, just a friend. Not my parent, not my therapist, not my priest, not someone I've asked to mentor me and fix my life - a friend. A peer. A social equal. Quite frankly, I've never had another friend or acquaintance or anyone else in my life talk to me this way. I'm not sure I'd think it was a great idea for anyone to tell me that bluntly how to live my life, but it definitely rubs me the wrong way coming from a friend. Even my own grandmother doesn't harp on the need to see me get married before she dies every time we talk. My mother doesn't badger me to give her grandchildren. My sister doesn't constantly ask me when I'm going to make her my maid of honor and give her nieces and nephews. My godmother doesn't ask me to give her great-godchildren lol... I could go on but I think I've made the point? This whole line of conversation just strikes me as very abnormal when it's initiated by a friend.

I've said this before, but I ultimately find it insulting when I'm over here living a decent life and people start lecturing about how everyone who's single needs to get married because that's obviously the answer for everybody! and clearly none of us who are single are capable of figuring out how to live our lives! and we need all this unsolicited advice or else we'll be miserable loners forever! That's annoying and offensive and honestly makes me want to say "no" just for the hell of it because I'm annoyed.

Now that I find myself able to articulate why this type of conversation is really wearing me out, at least I'll be able to put a stop to it if and when it comes up again.

Imagine that in Mabu Timeline, while Koko's mum was totally ok and absolutly NOT surprised that her son fall in love with Inupi; his father was :/ not because Inupi is a boy, but because he's a ex delinquant, who got in reform school for some months, who didn't even finish high school (did he even got to high school??), who is theorically poor and struggling to keep his motors shop. Like "i don't mind you to be with a man, but couldn't you choose a better one?" and Koko is deeply outraged. "Do you know what i have done that two last years è_é"

(Meanwhile Inupi's parents are so relieved that their son speak to them again that they woudn't dare to say anything about it)

(But it could be worse, they could say "Akane would have married someone right and would give us grandchildren")

Of Course in Reset Timeline, nothing bad happen.

Akane is here to be sure to be here to support her little bro and be sure that their parents don't say something bad. Here nothing wrong happened so they're kinda not surprised. At all. "Hajime? Tell us something we don't know" Because Inupi's feelings were SO obvious.

For Koko's parents, it's the same thing. Here Inupi was not send in reform school because Izana and Shion didn't mess with his little head to make him arrested. Shin was here to be sure of it (well Shin was alive when Inupi got arrested in the first timeline ok but things are very different in Reset). Inupi got to high school, with Koko's help, and with Akane's support, but he finished high school, even if he also was a delinquant. But Koko's father couldn't say that since his son was also a delinquant.

yeah, Papa Koko really should have a reality check, luckily Hajime provides him one lol - I also believe that Koko didn't really keep in touch with in family during the Kanto Manji era, but I'm sure they knew Hajime was doing something illegal, but they pretended not to see, as if that could fix things; besides, in the KMG timeline, Kakucho died (for real this time?) and Takemichi was stabbed, there's no way police wouldn't have been involved (like it happened during Bloody Halloween and after Tenjiku), so Koko himself this time would have been in trouble too

I would have loved to see Inupi's pov, his parents and their reaction to Akane's death and their relationship with Inupi (it's just implied Inupi didn't get along with them in middle school since he says to Koko to go home every once in a while since he's "not like him"). I wonder if they'd made remarks like that (about marrying "right" and having children) even if, in mabu/bonten tl, I headcanon that maybe at some point, Seishu started talking with them again

Yeah, in the final/reset tl I guess really nobody is surprised by Inupi and Koko's relationship, it was clear to everyone that their frienship was special and at some point it would have become something more. They still had their rebellious phase as delinquents, but it didn't really impact their lives (so Papa Koko couldn't really say anything 🤣)

1) i dont remember if youve explained this before but what do the names lirjie, Kashan, Ayane, Gurri and Irreneth (once again a test of my spelling abilities lol) mean ?

2) how many biological kids do you thing Oren has ? It was my belief that elves have relatively slow reproduction rates with people like Feanor, Finwe etc being the exception. Is this different with uruk ?

3) how likely is it that Ayane has moved on from Oren ? This might be spoilery so you can skip this one, I’m just desperate for them get back together and have a healthy healed relationship

4) what do the parents of the original Uruks (eg. Oren Ayane all the rest) feel about the orcish grandchildren ?

5) Will Irreneth’s husband appear. Whats his feelings on everything going on?

6) Will Orens friends who he was captured with ever be reborn? If they didnt survive the transformation into Uruk does this mean they died young? Like Oren being a fully grown adult with thousands of years of misery behind him reuniting with his childhood friend, a tortured teenager.

7) will the scholars in Valinor be excited about Oren’s existence as a surving Uruk and his book(s) explaining the Uruk?

Oohoo, more good questions! Some of these I HAVE thought about and have an answer to, and some I'm just going to be pulling out of my ass. Which is which? It's a mystery. :)

Meaning of names. Okay I'm going to admit here. All of these names you listed were made up based on sound rather than meaning. I like doing it that way for two reasons, and those are 1) I'm the kind of nerd who usually knows right away what your OC's name means, which is a superpower I do not like having because it tends to kick me out of the story and into Elf Thoughts Mode (so I explicitly DO NOT want people to immediately know what my OCs names mean), and 2) I... don't really care too much what the names mean as long as they sound cool. Anyway, what I usually do for names is muck around with words until I get something I like, focusing 80% on sound and 20% on meaning. And that 20% on meaning is pretty much just making sure it doesn't mean anything horrid like "death carpet". Kashân is sort of explained in the story, though Adar himself admits he doesn't know what it means. He just liked the sound. But it's from the Valarin word akašān meaning "he says". (This does make sense in the context of the chapter I promise.) Gûri, on the other hand, is just the Gnomish word 'sweet' (basic-ass baby name right there), chosen because it also fits Black Speech phonology. Lirjë is the root verb lir (sing) with the sort of abstract noun ending -ja attached, then morphed from Lirja to Lirjë to make it a feminine name that means something like 'song'. Ayánë means something vaguely related to (but not exactly 100% spot on) 'blessed': from ayanā (to bless). And finally Irenneth is the most problematic of the bunch. Originally her name was Iranneth, but then I decided I liked the sound of Irenneth better. And DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? 'The kinship lady': i-rend-eth. It was so stupid I had to keep it. Absolute chef's kiss of a name. Perfect.

How many biological kids does Óren have? Five that survived infancy that he knows of for sure. After that, he made a point of not keeping track of which were his, so the final count is unknown. But definitely far more than would ever be seen among elves. Tolkien mentions that elves have few children, both because children are dear to them and they want to devote sufficient time to raising each child, but also because significant physical and mental strength goes into the creation of each child. I don't think either of these limitations would be placed on the uruk. They don't put much (if any) care into raising each child, and nor do they invest anywhere near as much spiritual energy as an elf would in the child's creation, with the shortfall being made up by Morgoth's interference in the process. (At least at first with the captured elves.) As such, they're able to reproduce at a far greater rate than their elven kin.

How likely is it that Ayánë has moved on? Okay this question WOULD give massive spoilers for the patchy plot I'm slowly assembling for a sequel, so I won't say anything here. But if you do want to know just message again and I'll answer privately.

What do the parents think of the orcish grandchildren? I think they'd be horrified and try not to think about it. They learn, at some point down the line, that they're blood relatives of all these monsters that are attacking and killing their people. At early times in history, I don't think they'd be at all sympathetic, and would probably be more inclined to try to prove their distance by being some of the most vocal opponents. But maybe much later, if Óren is reunited with his parents, he can get them to come around to not just blindly hating the uruk.

Will Irenneth's husband appear? LMAO maybe? Right now he's kind of a non-character, but I did, in early (imaginary) drafts of some chapters, have scenes in which he actually appeared as more than an offhand mention. So maybe in the future he'll get a speaking role. But so far he only exists because logically Ellaer needed a dad and it would be narratively more complicated to kill him off than just keep him out of the way in the background. I don't foresee him ever being important, though.

Will Óren's friends ever be reborn? I'm going to go with... probably not. The external reason is I'm just not a huge fan of elf rebirth storylines (not against them either, but it's just not a scenario that I've ever wanted to write). The internal reason is they died in Utumno before the elves were ever found by the Valar, and would have become unhoused spirits tormented by that horrible death for years before the call of Mandos ever came into being. And would they heed that, or trust it at all? Probably not. They'd remain ghosts in the north of Palisor and eventually fade from the world entirely.

Will scholars in Valinor be excited by Óren's uruk-scholarship? LOL this is another large-scale plot spoiler for the allegedly forthcoming sequel. And also I haven't entirely decided yet. And even the aspects I think I've decided are up in the air and subject to change until written, which is a ways off yet. But this is a topic that should be addressed. Again, if you want spoilers, lmk and I'll answer privately.

I always like the idea of the unexpected happening. Everyone always has these MiraBruno stories where a great deal of the conflict is centered around people assuming Bruno must have groomed Mirabel or forced her in some way to be with him, but I find the opposite more gripping; what if most of the family saw it as Mirabel taking advantage of her socially inept, mentally unwell, feeble old uncle, maybe claiming she had ulterior motives for pursuing him (such as using him for his gift).

Take it a step further, how would those who blamed Bruno clash with those who blamed Mirabel? Who would side with who? Does it tear marriages apart? Pit siblings against each other? And if there are those who would support Mirabel and Bruno, would this family feud keep them silent?

Oh, very interesting! This is not a scenario I have ever considered. I guess I haven't viewed Bruno as overly vulnerable, and I really like to put him through more emotional torment than Mirabel. But this could work.

Because you're right. His isolation does make him emotionally vulnerable. He could easily fall into the category of being manipulated by the first person who gives him positive attention and care. And Mirabel still doesn't have a tangible gift, so I could see some family members making the argument that she is manipulating him so then she can have power over a gift.

I know I'm basically just rewording what you said here, but I think I need to really think about this before bringing anything new to this idea.

But, okay; this is interesting. Who would blame who? Off the top of my head, I think Alma might lean towards blaming Mirabel. After all, Mirabel not getting a gift is what caused Bruno to leave in the first place, and she later brought the house crashing down.

I could see Pepa also leaning towards blaming Mirabel. I have a headcanon that Bruno and Pepa were close as children. She goes in to hug him first at the end, and she's the one besides Alma who shows the most vitriol towards him when he is estranged. As they say, hate isn't the opposite of love. Even when he is estranged, she still feels a strong emotional connection to him, even if it is negative.

And Bruno is technically her younger brother. She might recall how emotionally vulnerable he was as a child. She might see how emotionally vulnerable he is now and feel some guilt over that. Yes. I'm more and more convinced that if anyone would be blaming Mirabel, it would be Pepa.

I'm not sure where Felix would land in all this. I think he'd want to back Pepa, but I also think this would be pretty conflicting for him.

I'd think Julieta and Augustin would blame Bruno. After all, Mirabel is their daughter. So that would create an interesting dynamic. The triplets would be completely splintered in this scenario. But you did bring up marriages...and I think Julieta could be pretty torn up about this. Hm. I think you could convince me either way on this one.

I'm having a harder time sorting out the grandchildren.

I'm still rather attached to my headcanon that Camilo doesn't trust Bruno and therefore would be on the side of "Bruno is a groomer." But that is totally a headcanon that isn't overly based in canon, so it can really go either way.

I still think Dolores is a neutral party in this. She would probably have the most objective view of their relationship, given her gift.

As usual, I don't have a ton of thoughts regarding Antonio. He's just too young in the film for me to have a clear indicator of which way he'd go. Though, Mirabel is his favorite cousin, so that might be worth something.

That leaves Luisa and Isabela. This is where I'm at a complete loss. I think that after all they went through in the movie ("It's a dream when we work as a team"), they'd probably blame Bruno more than anything.

But you could probably make the argument that Isabela is at least a little suspicious of Mirabel's motives. Given their interactions pre-"What Else Can I Do?" AH! I don't know. It physically pains me to even say that, but it is definitely an argument you could make.

As for Luisa, I love Luisa, and I want her to be on Mirabel's side. She's so protective over Mirabel in "Surface Pressure." I personally can't see her not taking Mirabel's side. And because I have such a soft spot for Luisa, I think I see her as one of the first people to be, at least secretly, supportive of Mirabel and Bruno. But I'm undecided on that part.

Plus, I think I'm open-minded enough that like Julieta, you could probably convince me either way for Isabela and/or Luisa.

Hmm. This is scenario introduces so many variables. I'm really going to have to think about this.

Aw, I'm glad it made you laugh! Like you said, it feels like a very gross Roman thing to say. I like to try and make the characters as realistic to the show as possible and I've gotten a bit of positive feedback on that about Roman which I really appreciate. I hadn't even thought about that! I feel like he'd maybe something like that when he's a young toddler so he's verbal but wouldn't get it/remember it. But it would be more of a joke he'd just tell adults about (going to give him some emotional maturity points there lol).

Yes! That's what I was thinking of! There's definitely a phenomenon of abusive parents being much nicer to their grandchildren in comparison to how they treated their children. I don't know if there's a term for it, I'm sure there is one in psychology? But anyway I think that very much applies to Logan. Also I don't know if I'd say it's Logan sharing love and if so it's definitely not a genuine or healthy love. We know there's the thing about the bloodline and how Logan feels about that and is with Sophie and Iverson. I think that him showing up was solely for like confirmed proof that his bloodline "had been passed down" and that's what Porce had done "good" of and why he thanked her. We know Logan doesn't view his children as serious people and he doesn't take any of them seriously from the very first episode. There's this whole thing going on about all of his sons being failures and something being wrong with them and then Shiv always being held back by her gender. I think in a way he's also hoping for grandchildren as like a reset/worthy successors.

No haha. Nobody expected that from Shiv. Tom would organise a gift basket that he put far too much thought in with an interesting card and Shiv would lift her hand to just sign her name with an eye roll. I think she'd look down on it and see it as Porce sealing her fate as nothing but a mother and wife (similar with Caroline). Connor is nuts but he's a very sweet older brother, he'll be the most doting uncle and his nephew and niece will adore him!

Don't apologise! These asks with questions are such a nice change and breath of air from the asks with requests, which I'm so grateful for but are definitely a bit overwhelming at times. These are such great questions! I think I'll explore them more in another fic similar to this Jonathan one but for Tillie! Thank you for those ideas! I think she'd maybe be "casually planned", is that a term?! But Jonathan would be close to a few years old and they'd think now wouldn't be a bad time to have another so they wouldn't be putting pressure on it but it wouldn't necessarily be an accident. If that makes sense? I think telling Jonathan could be sweet and quite funny. Despite being good at sharing and a polite little man he's used to being an only child and because his cousins are all older he doesn't quite get pregnancy etc. I think they'd have to explain it to him a few times and read some books to him on that. I could also see something silly happening like his uncle Connor asks him if he's excited to meet his baby sister and Jonathan innocently says it's not a sister but an alien in his mum's tummy and Roman finds that absolutely hilarious and makes some more affair jokes. But when Jonathan meets his younger sister he's very happy and excited!

I'm not afraid to admit the fact that everything happening right now is devastating. It's such a serious matter and personally, I feel romanticizing it would be inappropriate. Instead, here's something that while yes, touches the subject, avoids turning this extremely real situation into something of fantasy ~ 💚

1A Boys HC : When You Don't Want A Baby (Fluff/Implied Smut)

Izuku

He planned on letting you decide if or when you ever wanted to have a baby, so he didn't ever really bring it up unless you did. He didn't want to make you feel like he was ever pushing for it.

Though the one time the conversation came up, he did say that he'd be willing to start a family with you, but that he also was ok if it was just the two of you because as long as he has you, he's happy.

He'd definitely do his research on birth controls. For you and him. When you said you didn't want a baby for the time, he wanted to be sure he honored your choice by keeping bedroom activities safe. Between your birth control, his birth control, and condoms, let's just say that you guys are pretty safe from having a baby anytime soon.

Bakugo

Kids annoy the shit out of him typically so let's just say he isn't exactly pushing you into having a baby anytime soon. If it was your idea he might, but since at least for the time being you both seem to be on the same page he doesn't tend to think or talk about it.

He may have asked you once, just because he wanted to be sure this was what you wanted and not just because he always seemed to not like the idea (Though he'd say it in a less gentle, caring way). Once you confirmed you simply didn't want kids you both moved on from the subject.

Since it felt like this might be a permanent decision for you both, you brought up the idea of getting your tubes tied. Something that'll keep it from happening by accident, but also something reversible, on the very off chance you eventually change your mind. Whether you do or not, he's gonna back you up the whole way.

Shoto

After seeing what his dad did and how screwed up most of his kids came out, he would be weary about having kids to begin with, so you saying that you don't want any is a relief to him. He wouldn't want to give that man grandchildren or risk not being able to provide a normal childhood because of his own trauma.

He asked you about it a fairly short ways into your relationship. It was something he thought was important to ask, and he didn't want to risk getting deep into a relationship only to find you wanted like 10 kids. He was very happy the two of you could agree to maybe not have kids.

Shoto would ask you about your thoughts on him getting a vasectomy. He doesn't wanna risk it, and he feels it'd just be easier for him to take away the chance of him getting you pregnant all together. And it'd be a one time thing instead of you constantly getting birth control.

Kirishima

He thinks having a kid would be cool. Be able to raise a little human with you and stuff, but he isn't going to let it change anything when he finds out you don't really want that. He's still gonna love you regardless, and respect your decision.

He teased you about letting him pop a baby in you a few times until you told him it wasn't something you really wanted. He very quickly apologized. He didn't mean to make you uncomfortable with the jokes, but he definitely wants to do better to be more aware of the topic in the future. Anytime someone asks if you two will be having a little one, he respectfully says the two of you have decided against it.

He's definitely been really doing his research on the new discoveries in masculine birth controls. He knows your on it and he wants to feel like he's doing his part in respecting your choice.

Denki

He's a bit of a deviant as is, so he's totally chill not making a baby anytime soon. Means he gets you to himself more often ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). In all seriousness, he's just chilling knowing he doesn't go on a 9 month break from fun times with you.

He was kinda surprised weirdly enough when you told him. He kinda always just assumed that would be the next step for you guys so he hadn't really thought much of it. So when you tell him you'd rather not, he asks you why you felt that way. Not to change your mind, he's genuinely curious.

May as well own stock in condoms. He practically has a collection. He likes ones that have cool colors an stuff because he thinks it makes things interesting. Making safety fun.

Iida

Let's be honest, he comes from a traditional family. He sorta wanted kids. Even so he understands and supports the fact that it would be your body carrying the baby, and that it would be something you'd have to do together. He's not gonna make you go through any of that for something you don't really want.

He was a bit disappointed when you told him, but he didn't make it a pity party. He asked a few logically questions like whether this was a permanently never wanted kids or a not now, or if you'd want to go about it in a different way that wouldn't hinder your body such as adoption or fostering. He wants to know exactly the kind of future you want so he can plan it with you.

Another one who'd lean towards a vasectomy. Let's be honest this man know what he likes in bed and one of those things would be a bit risky otherwise. Plus, if you ever changed your mind, it's reversible so he can simply adjust accordingly for whatever you want or need of him.

Description: Hotch meets your parents that have never approved of you or anything you do, how will he react when they begin picking apart your life?

It was a bad idea.

Of course it was a bad idea.

You really didn't know why you had to go through with this.

You never wanted to have to introduce him to your parents. You had hoped this day wouldn't come. They were... not the best parents in the world, to say the least.

But you were engaged, getting married in only a few months, and your parents had of course heard of your engagement from your older sister. She had accidently let it slip on her last visit.

And now you had to introduce him. And God you were terrified. They had belittled and picked apart each and every aspect of your life.

It wasn't really your father, more so your mother. But he had never stopped her and joined in occasionally.

They had always hated your decisions. You had joined the marines straight out of highschool, and went to the FBI academy after 4 years of service. You had then quickly made your way to the FBI's behavior analysist unit, and that was where you had met your now fiance, Aaron Hotchner.

And of course your mother disapproved. She had always wanted you to go the traditional route. Be a stay at home mom, married with kids by the time you were 20.

You were now 28 and just getting engaged, so of course your mother was going to have some complaints.

But you had never expected how the night actually had turned out.

You had been wringing your hands the entire way there. Aaron had been worried about you for the entirety of the trip. Constantly sending you glances, taking your hand in his own and squeezing reassuringly.

"It will be alright, love." He would tell you. You would simply glance at him shaking your head.

He didn't know how wrong he was.

Soon enough you pulled up into the driveway of your childhood home. Your heart beat widely as you stepped out of the car, meeting Aaron on the other side.

"I'm sorry." He shot you a confused look.

"For what?" he had asked.

"Just apologizing in advance." And with that you rang the doorbell. You heard footsteps and the door was yanked open. Your mothers shrill voice rang through the air.

"Honey! They're here." She sent a smile Aaron's way, and glanced at you dissaprovingly. "Darling. What on earth are you wearing?" You looked down at your simple dress and rolled your eyes.

"Good to see you too mom." She shook her head.

"Of course of course. Good to see you as well. And you must be Aaron? We have heard nothing about you." You scoffed, quickly covering it with a cough, as Aaron responded.

"Yes, Aaron Hotchner ma'am. Its wonderful to meet you."he stuck out his hand for her to shake, but she just turned around and strutted away.

"Do come in, we wouldn't want dinner to get cold. You're already 20 minutes late." She scolded as she walked through the kitchen door.

"Mom, we are 5 minutes early." You stated simply. She laughed like you had said the most absurd thing in the world. You just rolled your eyes.

Aaron shot you a glance and you smiled softly at him.

You gathered around your table, hoping for a somewhat pleasant meal. You father walked in glancing at Aaron before doing a double take.

"Ah you must be Aaron." Your father held out his hand hesitantly. Hotch shook it respectfully introducing himself.

"Yes sir, Aaron Hotchner." He nodded politely.

You all sat around the table and began eating in silence. Small talk here and there but mostly silence, until your mother finally spoke up.

"So, you two met at work?"she asked, disdain present in her voice.

"Uh, yes we did. We work together at the BAU." You replied, catching your mothers eye roll but electing to ignore it.

"Yes, I'm the unit chief, and Y/n is one of our best agents." You couldn't stop him before he made his mistake. And you saw the realization flashed in your father's eyes.

"Unit chief? Like the boss?" He asked.

"Shit." You muttered under your breath. "Yes dad, like the boss." You said a bit louder.

"You're dating your boss!" Your mother exclaimed.

"Mom, its not that big of a deal, he isn't my direct boss, another agent is." You tried explaining.

"Ugh, this government talk us just too much at the dinner table." She sighs dramatically and you shut up, not wanted to start a fight so early in the night.

You all continued eating until your dad spoke again.

"So Aaron you must be significantly older than Y/n." Your father continued. Aaron nearly choked on his drink.

"Um, there is a small age difference yes. But we have never let it bother us." God this was painful.

"No but, why on earth would you bother with a young, disappointment like Y/n? I mean she's obviously gained some weight. She had a dishonorable job for a woman. She doesn't have a family, and jmis just now getting into a serious relationship. I mean seriously Aaron, you could do so much better than, her." You could not believe the audacity of this woman. Your mother effectively silenced the entire table. You felt tears gather in your eyes. As you tried to stop them from falling down your face, Aaron set his wine down calmly and stood up.

"Your daughter is very far from a disapointment." He stated matter of factly. "She is by far one of the Best people that I know. She is the love of my life. She is one of THE most prestigious agents in the FBI, and is apart of one of the best teams in the country. She is the most amazing partner in the world, and had become my favorite person. I dont know how you consider yourselves decent human beings when you can sit here and degrade your own daughter like this. And I feel sorry that you can't see how amazing she truly is." He was nearly breathless when he finished. You stood up beside him.

"Aaron's, right. You guys are the most indecent human bei-"

Anger had flashed in your fathers eyes as he stood angrily, slamming his hands on the table, effectively interrupting you.

"How dare you come into our house and speak such words towards us!?" He yelled at Aaron and you with a furociousness you hadn't seen since you joined the marines.

"Sit down and shut up!" Aaron yelled right back, furious that your father had just interrupted you.

You decided it was time to step in and leave.

"Me and my fiance will be leaving now. I hope you have wonderful lives. And the next time I hear from you it better be an apology otherwise you will never be meeting your grandchildren. And my my wouldn't that just be very indecent." You finished in a mocking tone, spinning around and walking away, Aaron hot on your heals.

You somehow held off your tears till you reached the car and pulled into your driveway and then you completely broke down.

Aaron held you the best he could over the console, trying his best to make you feel better

"Sshhh, sweetheart, its okay." He whispered into your hair. "That was so brave. I'm so proud of you." You smiled slowly pulling away from him.

"Thank you Aaron, for everything you said in there. I never would have had the courage to say anything to them if it wasn't for you. So thank you." He was about to protest, but you shut him up quickly by pressing your lips to his in a passionate kiss.

"I love you." He mumbled against your lips.

You just kissed him harder, getting your message across loud and clear. You pulled away, wiping away your tears.

"I think they liked you." You mumbled a few seconds later, causing him to burst into laughter.

"Especially when I told your dad to shut up." You giggled at his statement.

"Especially then." You continued laughing as you leaned in kissing him again.

Never had you been happier for having a man like Aaron Hotchner.

"I'm just gonna go to the bathroom," I said to the guy as I excused myself from the table. He was nice, but he felt too naive and young. I mean there's nothing wrong with that, but it's not my cup of tea. I think Peter was his name, he was a couple of years younger than me, but Wanda insisted that there was nothing wrong with a slight age gap. He had a slight frown when I walked off, I think he knew I wasn't going to come back.

I was wearing a short-sleeved black dress that was more casual than formal. I didn't want to go all out for a date that I knew was going to be a fail like all of the others I've gone on over the last 6 months. Ever since Wanda started to date Vision, I felt like I needed to find my own boyfriend while she was occupied with him. I was now outside, the cool breeze running through my bare arms and legs in the early night sky. I opened up my phone to call an Uber and head back to my apartment. The driver came within 5 minutes, he was nice, an old white man who mainly talked about his grandchildren which was cute.

"Did you have a nice night?" he asked me looking straight ahead. "Just a date that didn't spark me any interest," I sighed. "What is your interest then?"

I pondered at the question for a few seconds. "I honestly don't know. I've been going on dates with so many different guys over the last few months and I've felt nothing. All of the relationships with my previous boyfriends never felt real to me," I rambled.

"Maybe you're dabbling in the wrong gender," he suggested with a light chuckle. My eyes widened and a cleared my throat. "Uhm, I'm pretty sure I'm straight."

"Well sweetie, when my husband and I first met, we were best friends. I never knew I actually had feelings for him until one night his girlfriend of 3 years broke up with him and I was the only one there for him. They were about to be engaged, but she knew that their love wasn't true. That night, he and I kissed and I just knew he was the one for me and I for him," he revealed.

I smiled to myself as he gushed about his husband, but I was still taken aback by what he said. Of course I've questioned my sexuality, but I never really experimented because all of my friends were straight and my family was strict on"traditional" values.

"Looks like we're here. I wish you luck with your love life and find your soulmate, or maybe you already have," he winks making me turn red in embarrassment. He drove off once I entered the apartment building and waved. I climbed the stairs to the third floor and looked into my bag to pull out my keys, but I turned back to see that my door was cracked open. My stomach dropped, there was a break in a few weeks ago in the building next door, so I started to carry pepper spray with me just in case.

I crept into my apartment, holding the pepper spray out in front of me and peering my head all around. I heard noises coming from the kitchen and saw that there was someone looking at things in my fridge. "WHO ARE YOU!" I shouted making the person scream. I sighed when I saw Wanda's face drain of color from the fear. "What the hell!" she retorted. "What do you mean what the hell! I should be the one saying what the hell! I thought someone broke in!" I fired back.

"I come here all of the time! Why would you be afraid?" Wanda inquired. I rolled my eyes and slumped on the couch as the adrenaline started to dissipate. "You haven't been here in over a week, that doesn't mean you can just leave the door to my apartment cracked open," I grumbled.

Wanda walked over and sat next to me cross-legged with a pint of chocolate ice cream in her hands and a spoon. "Wow, and now you're eating my ice cream. You could've at least brought a second spoon," I fumed as I turned away in irritation.

"I'm assuming it didn't go well with Peter," she presumed and took a spoonful of ice cream. "He is literally a puppy. I honestly can't do this anymore, I think I'm just not meant to be loved," I lamented. "Dramatic much," Wanda shoved me with her arm, offering a bite of ice cream and I accepted. I rested my head on her shoulder, I could smell the apple cinnamon scent of her shampoo.

"You can't give up, you're such a lovable person. Why don't you just take a break from going on dates and you and I just hang out for a little while. We've been so caught up on our own work that we haven't spent all that much time together. Besides, Vision is going on a trip with Steve and Tony in a few months, so we can go then," she suggested.

"That'd be nice," I muttered. "Wanda?" I asked as I sat up again and taking my head off of her shoulder.

"Yeah?" she raised an eyebrow. "What if..." my voice broke, I wasn't ready to say it. She brought her hand to my face, wiping a tear on my cheek with her thumb. "Hey, what's wrong? You can tell me anything."

"I think I might like girls," I sniffled, tears now streaming down both of my cheeks. She quickly set the empty ice cream pint down on the coffee table before pulling me into a hug. "That's perfectly okay. I accept you and love you no matter what," she assured and rubbed the back of my head while I wept into the side of her neck. But it wasn't okay. It wasn't okay because I think I actually loved her, but I couldn't say that. Not now and not ever. She was in love with Vision, and if I told her that I loved her, then she would get grossed out and would ruin our friendship.

"Thank you," I whispered once I calmed down. We stayed hugging for a long time until I could feel my eyes starting to droop. She was cuddling me on the couch and I didn't want to get up to ruin the moment even though I was still wearing my dress. She drifted off first, but she still was holding on to me. I too soon fell asleep as well in her arms on the sofa.

~One month later~ Wanda set me up with a girl for a date. I was extremely nervous because women intimidated me and I get extremely nervous around them, but Wanda didn't let me back down. She drove me to the restaurant and hyped me up as we parked in front of the building. "You can do this. Remember, if you need to leave then text me. I'll be shopping down the street," she lightly punched my arm. "Go get 'em, tiger."

I rolled my eyes and giggled as I got out of the car and saw the girl standing outside waiting for me. Her red curly hair rested just above her shoulders. She wore a spaghetti-strapped white floral dress with a light blue cardigan that matched her handbag. She was beautiful, definitely out of my league. "Hey! Are you Natasha?" I greeted the pretty woman. "Yes I am, you must be y/n, you looking gorgeous," she smiled kissing my cheek making me blush. I cleared my throat, "shall we?" I hold out my hand and she puts her's in mine and we stroll into the restaurant.

Wanda smiled in the car when she saw the two greeting one another, but she felt pain in her chest seeing y/n's date kiss her cheek. She shrugged off the feeling and pulled away from the restaurant and drove down the street to Urban Outfitters.

I actually was enjoying the date with Nat. There was no awkward tension that was present when I would go on dates with men, it felt more natural and comfortable. My nervousness slipped away and I was more confident. "So, have you ever been with a woman?" she asked playfully. I hesitated, I was afraid she might lose interest if I say no. I have no experience with women whatsoever, but it's better to tell the truth than to get caught in a lie.

"No actually. I came out recently and you're the first woman I've gone on a date with," I blushed and looked down at my plate. "There's nothing to be ashamed of! People come out of the closet at all stages of life, even after being married to someone else for years. I'm glad you were able to figure that out," she smiled reaching over to hold my hand. I return a smile back, the assurance helped to calm me down.

"Do you wanna get out of here?" she whispered with a hint of seduction. Her bare leg began rubbing against mine under the table. My face was filling with warmth, I wasn't exactly comfortable, but she didn't hesitate to grab my hand and pull me outside to her car. She pushed me against the side of her car and crashed lips onto mine with no warning. I have to admit, it felt good, but it also felt wrong. We were breathing heavily, her lips tasted like cherry. My hands didn't know what to do, so I put them around her waist as she put her around my neck.

It was all happening too fast, so I pulled away to catch my breath. "Can we, take this slow?" I panted in between breaths. She cupped my face in her hands, "Of course, I'm sorry I went so fast, but you're just so adorable," she gushed. She put our foreheads together and looked into my eyes with lust. "Do you want to see each other again this weekend?" she asked. I nodded my head and grinned. She gave me a kiss on the cheek as I opened her car door for her. I waved to her as she drove off and I stood there with a giddy smile.

"Damn, already made out on the first date," Wanda chimed in from behind, startling me. "Okay creep, you staring while I made out," I smirked with a raised eyebrow. "Oh shut up, I'm happy for you," she said walking towards me with a bag in her hand. "What'd you buy?" I queried and noticed she held it up to me. "It's for you. Let's say it's a gift to celebrate your first successful date in years," she cheered.

I pulled out a brown leather jacket, one that I've been looking to get for months but never did. "No fucking way! For me?" I beamed. "I love you, I love you, I love you," I sang as I picked Wanda up and spun her around, giving her a kiss on the cheek. Her face turned a bright red, but I tried not to make a big deal out of it, I probably just caught her off guard. "Of course, you deserve it. It's nice to see you not depressed for a change," she chuckled. "I'm gonna take those 'I love you's' back if you keep going," I rolled my eyes walking towards her car.

~2 months later~

Natasha and I have been seeing each other for two months now. She's great and all, but I feel like it's more playful than anything else. All we do is have sex and make out, I barely know anything about her life and her friends which annoys me. When I start asking stuff she just changes the subject or yells at me for wanting to know everything. Nat has also been very irritating about me hanging out with Wanda, I told her she's straight, but she still restricts me from it.

"You've never even made an effort to know me or my friends or anything! What is this? What are we?" I yelled during our last argument. "I can't go on with this if all I am to you is a sex toy," I scolded as I made my way to the door of her house. "Don't contact me again!" she screamed back, so I slammed the door as hard as I could. I put on my brown leather jacket and shoved my hands into my pocket, I could see my breath in the cold night sky. I never got a driver's license, and I would scrape by with rides from Wanda, but I hadn't spoken to her in weeks, so I knew it wouldn't be good to call her right now. I walked about a mile in the dark to get to the nearest bus stop.

Right by the bus stop was a club that was bustling with people and music. After that fight, I think I deserved a drink. I stepped inside and there were so many people that I had to push aside to get to the actual bar. "Is this seat taken?" I asked a guy who was having an intimate talk with this other girl. He turned around and I gasped, "Vision?" His eyes widened, "y/n, what are you doing here?" He growled. "Getting a drink. Is Wanda not with you?" I questioned. The girl he was talking to gave a scowl, "who's Wanda, Vision?" she hissed. "His girl friend of how long now? Almost a year," I shot back making her gasp. She slapped him across the face before storming off. "Helen! Wait! Argh." he huffed.

He turned his head back at me with guilty eyes. "How long have you been cheating on Wanda," I seethed. He took a deep breath, "four months," he sighed. I let out a dry laugh, "she's literally so in love with you and you do this to her? I can't believe you!" I scolded him. "Hey! Don't yell at me when you've been off with your girl toy for weeks!" he retorted. "The nerve you have! I'm leaving and going to tell Wanda right now!" I fumed marching out, but he grabbed my wrist and twisted it. "Oh no you're not," he bellowed and stole my phone and threw it on the ground, shattering it. No one even noticed due to the blaring music.

"What the actual fuck," I screamed and stepped on his foot. He let go and I ran out of the club and stood outside with my broken phone. I rubbed my head, not knowing what to do. I stood at the bus stop, but then creepy man walked up to me. I tried keeping my distance and slowly reached into my bag to get out my pepper spray, but he was faster. He punched me in the face, knocking me to the ground and grabbed onto my bag. I thrashed as he was pulling, but he still kept a tight grip. I screamed for help, but everyone was inside of the bar, my screams silenced by the goddamn music.

The man continued to kick and punch me, the pain shot out through my entire body. He gave one final blow right to my face with his foot, and I finally blacked out. Next thing I know I'm on a gurney in the hospital and they're running. I hear them saying things like "internal bleeding" and "broken ribs" and "hematoma", and thanks to my obsession with Grey's Anatomy, I knew that wasn't good. I could barely see anything, my eyes were so swollen and everything was blurry. There was a ringing in my ears, but I was 100% sure when I heard something I recognized.

"Y/n! Oh my god!" Wanda shrieked. I felt her warm hands take ahold of mine and drops of water hitting it. "Ma'am, I need you to go in the waiting room, we're taking her to surgery now," someone said to her. "Is she going to be okay? I need her to be okay," she wept, but the person didn't answer, making Wanda cry harder. I wish I could say something, but I was having trouble forming any kind of sentence in my head. Soon, the pain kicked in and I started screaming, but they hooked me up to something which knocked me out.

I slowly opened my eyes, the light blinded me, but I was relieved that I could see. My head was pounding, but the ringing in my ears stopped. I groaned which alerted the two men standing in white coats in front of me. "Hello there Ms. y/ln, nice to see you awake," the taller man with a beard greeted me. "My name is Dr. Strange and I'm your neurosurgeon, I helped stopped your hematoma, but you do have a pretty severe concussion. I also discovered that you have a brain anuerysm that could have burst any day now, so we're going to clip that for you later so that you're safe from it. We turned the lights down in here to help you recover," he explained. "And I'm Dr. Banner, your general surgeon. You had quite the extensive bleeding in your abdomen and have two broken ribs, but they should heal nicely," the shorter man with curly hair went on." "How long have I been here," I croaked, my voice sore from not speaking and parched.

"Two days," Wanda said leaning against the doorframe with a pint of chocolate ice cream and a spoon. She was wearing my jacket. "And of course you wake up when I leave the room for five minutes," she went on and sat next to me in a chair. "And you can't go two minutes without eating ice cream. And still not a second spoon for me, how thoughtful," I teased. "Well first of all, this is the first one I've had in weeks, second, I didn't think you'd wake up right this second, and third, we share spoons anyways," she stated matter-of-factly.

"We'll leave the two of you alone," Dr. Strange said while shutting the door.

"How are you feeling," Wanda asked with a somber look in her eyes. "I'm okay, feeling sore," I replied. "Can you give me Nat's number, your phone was found broken and I'm sure she's worried sick for you," Wanda pulled out her phone. I gave a wry laugh, "yeah, no. We broke up just before I got mugged. Speaking of which, did they find him?" I questioned. "Yeah they did, his name's Bucky Barnes. He's mugged 5 people in 2 weeks. They caught him using your card at an ATM," she explained. "Why did you two break up?" she looked concerned.

"It just felt like there was no real love between us. All she wanted was sex and making out, and I didn't want that," I shared. "I walked to the bus stop-" I stopped myself, I shouldn't tell her about Vision now I decided. "and then I got mugged right at the bus stop," I concluded.

Wanda put her hand up to my cheek and caressed it, I leaned into the touch. "How are you?" I ask her.

"I'm okay. I have been focusing on work since you've been off and Vision as well. Lots of kids have been coming in with social anxiety which makes me happy since I can relate to them and help them. The one girl with PTSD has gotten much better and the boy with ADD and bipolar-" "hey," I interrupted her. "I asked how are YOU, Not your patients."

She sighed and leaned back in the chair. "Lonely. But more recently, scared and worried for you," she admitted. "Did I cause the loneliness too," I asked guiltily. She turned away, tears welling in her eyes, but she was trying her hardest to supress them. "Vision hasn't been around much either, maybe I just push people away," her voice broke.

"No, no you don't. You are my favorite person. You're so goofy, caring, funny, and beautiful. I'm so sorry I've been so distant lately. I missed you so much," I held out my arms and she collapsed into me in a tight embrace. It hurt, but I didn't care. The apple cinnamon scent filled my nose as we both cried in each other's arms.

Wanda's phone began to ring, so she pulled away to answer. "Hi Vision," she sniffled. "Yeah she's okay. What do you mean? What?" she looked at me and turned away furrowing her eyebrows. "I don't understand. That makes no sense to me whatsoever. I'm going to talk to her, bye," she snapped.

"What's wrong?" I ask trembling. "He said that you were at the club, with him," she muttered. "Wanda, no that's not what happened," I started to explain before she cut me off. "So you two have been all 'buddy-buddy' leaving me off to the side? You call him when you break up with your whore of a girlfriend? Not me? Your 'best friend.' Wow," she laughed dryly.

"Wanda, let me explain," I said, my head began to pound again, but I tried to hide it. "What the hell, y/n! Honestly!" She yelled standing up and staring at me. I rubbed my head, the pain built in my head. "Wanda please quiet down," I plead. "Are you even gay? Like have you been doing other things with Vision?" she continued. Then everything went to shit, it felt like something exploded in my head and I started screaming in agony. It hurt more now than it did when I first came in. The monitors were beeping like crazy, but they were barely coherent from my crying.

Dr. Strange rushed in saying that my aneurysm ruptured and they ran me up to surgery to stop the bleeding before it was too late. They put me under again and the pain finally stopped.

I woke up again, this time to a sleeping Wanda who was slumped in the hospital chair. She was wearing pajamas, but still wore my brown leather jacket. I just stared at the ceiling, not saying anything to disturb her. It looked like she hadn't slept in a long time, her eye bags were prominent and I could see dry tears on her cheeks. I had to explain what happened, but only if she'd let me.

My throat was extremely dry and I could see a water cup on the side table next to me, but moving anything hurt. I winced as I leaned to the side, but I gave up with a sigh. Wanda's hand grasped the cup, which had a straw, and brought it towards my mouth. I took a sip and looked up into her green eyes. They were welling with tears again. Once I let go of the straw, she put the cup down and climbed into bed and cuddled me, her head on snugged onto my chest.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," she whispered, sniffling every few seconds. "Helen Cho found my number and told me what happened at the bar, I should've listened to you, but then I almost killed you. I don't deserve you."

I slowly brought my hand up to her face and made her look at me. "It's okay. I'm okay. I'm not mad at you. And I don't see how you don't deserve me when I can't live without you, Wanda," I consoled her, brushing my fingers through her hair with my hand. She had confusion in her eyes, eyebrows furrowed. "I'm just gonna say this because now I know I can't leave this Earth without telling you how much I love you. I'm in love with you Wanda," I confessed finally.

She took a second to process what I said before scooting up on the bed to hug me tightly. Again, I didn't care about the pain. "I love you, too," she breathed as if she's been holding it in for so long. Her face was buried into my neck, and we stayed that way for some time.

"I want to kiss you," she admitted. I smiled, my cheeks turning a rosy red. "I would love that, but, I don't want our first kiss to be me in a hospital bed with my ass out," I laughed which also caused her to as well, her nose scrunched which made butterflies flutter in my stomach.

It's been two weeks since I've been home from the hospital. Wanda has been taking care of me, but I'm basically back to full health, I just have to wear sunglasses for awhile and not carry anything too heavy. We've cuddled a lot, but I haven't had the nerve to kiss her yet. Maybe I'll finally do it today.

I called Pietro to ask him and see if he could come down and surprise her this afternoon on our boat ride in the park. She hasn't seen him in so many months and all this week she's been telling me stories about their childhood, so I figured she misses him. I called her favorite restaurant, a family-run authentic Sokovian restaurant, and made a reservation for tonight. And lastly, I was going to take her to our favorite ice cream place at night and go to a drive in movie theater since I was allowed to watch TV again, still wearing my glasses though.

She could tell I was hiding something, but I just told her I had an exciting day planned for us. I stole my leather jacket back from her and wore it before heading out, she huffed a bit, but she was happy to see me in my signature look. She drove us to the park and we walked around a large lake towards the dock. We were about to board the boat until I saw Pietro coming from behind Wanda and he shushed me from a distance, so I looked away to pretend I didn't notice. He put his hands on Wanda's shoulders and screamed which scared the crap out of her. The two of us laughed while she punched him in the arm before hugging him. He joined us on the boat ride, he rowed most of it because I wasn't allowed to do any strenuous activities, but I'm a great rower in my books.

He had to leave because his band was going to perform in LA tonight and it's a two hour drive, so we said goodbye. Wanda hugged me for bringing him, she did miss him a lot. It was now time to go to the restaurant for dinner, so I took her home first and made her wear something formal. I wore a three-piece tux I got recently while she wore a flowy black dress that showed off her shoulders and she curled her hair. I couldn't take my eyes off of her, but we had to get going if everything was to go according to plan.

We arrived at the restaurant and all of her favorite foods were already set out on the table for us to eat. "Oh my god, I'm gonna rip the dress from all of this food," she exclaimed. The food made us euphoric, the paprikash was by far the best. The chicken literally melted in our mouths. However, I wasn't going to let our full stomachs going to get in the way of the rest of our night.

The drive in theater was about an hour away, so it gave us time to make room for ice cream. The truck was quaint, but it was known to have the best ice cream in the region, to us at least. "One large cup of chocolate please," I asked. The lady gave me two spoons, but I put one back and Wanda laughed. We took turns eating the ice cream while talking about whatever came into our heads.

Now for the big reveal, the movie. We parked the car in the middle and lied down on the hood of the car. I brought pillows and blankets so that we'd be comfortable, which was great planning on my part. "Are they playing Mulan?" Wanda squealed. "I pulled some strings," I smirked and Wanda cuddled me tighter. We both knew how the movie played out after watching it about 20x over the last 3 years, but it was our comfort movie. Once it ended, something else started to play. A video of me and Wanda, it included pictures and videos of the years we've known one another. I scrapped it together while I was told not to be staring at screens, but what can a girl hopelessly in love do?

"You made this?" Wanda's voice cracking with tears in her eyes. "Of course," I said warmly. "I love you, Wanda Maximoff, and I was wondering if I could finally kiss you." "It's about time you asked," she said scooting up to my face and finally locking her lips with mine. It was intoxicating, electrifying. It felt like my lips recognized hers from previous lifetimes. It was perfect. She was perfect.

say that reader doesn't work in the SVU world and she feels a little jealous and insecure about Barba's friendship with Liv - how does he make you feel better about it?

You know, Anon, I have actually thought about this at length in the context of one of the longer stories I'm working on.

I think there's only so much he can do. A lot of it will be on the reader to really trust him and manage their own feelings. He's obviously really close with Olivia and that's not going to change, and a partner who really respects him isn't going to ask him to stop being close with her. But that doesn't mean that person isn't still a little jealous or insecure over it.

I had sort of imagined a scene where he uses the key the reader had given him for their apartment, and he comes in late after being with Olivia and the reader is kinda moping in the dark. And he's asking what's wrong and they admit that they're jealous of Olivia and kind of ashamed of it. And he asks what he can do to help them accept that there's nothing to be jealous of, and the reader's response is basically there really isn't anything to be done, but it would be nice if he reassured them anyway, because they wouldn't ask him to not be friends with her. And they certainly wouldn't try to check up on him over it.

I think he would be happy to remind them that he loves them, and Olivia is just a friend. But he'd also start to invite the reader to some of the bigger group things? Like drinks after a good/bad case, or if someone is hosting a dinner or a party, he'll bring them with him. He'd let the reader interact with the squad and see how he interacts with them as well. And he'd let the squad see him and the reader together.

I think by including the reader, and allowing to reader see that he wants them to be a part of this huge part of his life, they'll see that there isn't so much to be jealous or insecure over. Often times that kind of jealousy can stem from feeling like there are secrets being kept or that you're being kept a secret. So, if he's open about it, it can minimize that impact.

And also, he would just try to be better about not getting caught up at work when he doesn't have to be. There will always be days/nights/weekends where he gets called in, or he has to work, but there will be plenty of times where he doesn't have to be there. So being able to differentiate and spend that time with the reader instead. (This is something he 100% learns the hard way after forgetting dates and ditching the reader because he doesn't know how not to be all about work.)

Lol, I actually have a lot more thoughts on tangental things here like:

He'll still end up needing to spend a ton of time with Olivia/the squad (late nights and weekends), so how does that impact a relationship?

His work is such a huge part of his life, what would a partner who isn't intimately familiar with it do when he's sharing about it?

He strikes me as the type to keep a relationship quiet in the beginning. What happens to change this? How does he go from that weird "we're just fucking and getting dinner together" stage to dating? How does he go from dating to being open about his relationship? -- Ha, I have stories for both of these, but I dunno that I'd ever write them.

How and when does he let his mother in on all of this?? I love Lucia but there is no way she is not grilling the reader and her son separately on this. She has to make sure the reader is good enough for Raf, and she will want to know if she can expect grandchildren at some point now.

How does Olivia react to him being in a relationship? (This one I don't think is so long. I think she'd be happy for him but also give him shit and ask when she gets to meet this person).
