no, don’t misunderstand the situation, yaoyorozu was one of the sweetest, loveliest and most intelligent girls you’ve ever met.

but also one of the richest.

see, the thing is that you were not born in a “i have it all” family type of environment. you lived well, yes. but it’s for sure that your family did struggle way too many times in their way of spending money.

that’s why when you got into UA tears couldn’t stop falling through your face, you were finally able to do something about that. you always wanted to become the greatest hero, you thought that being able to rescue people from danger was the most selfless thing to do, you were familiar with that, so ever since you were little that was your goal. and besides that, you wanted to help you family so they wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.

also because of that your friendship with uraraka was a great one. you understood what was like to face little things that the others didn’t, and you suddenly became close that you almost considered her a sister.

she was the most important friend to you, well, along with other person.

your eyes started itching, currently at the common room table where you and your friends were having dinner.

kaminari was on the sofa among with bakugou and mina, but it was easy to hear them. so that comment took everyone’s attention, even shouto’s.

“i mean you are not wrong” asido agreed, excited they finally were talking about romance in that boring school. “can you imagine how rich the todomomo’s family would be?”

“todomomo?” todoroki asked visibly confused.

“a ship name! for you and yaoyorozu!” she answered

your eyes were a little bit red now, and the knot on your throat was growing more everytime you looked over to see shouto’s expression.

uraraka noticed this, so she gently placed her hand over yours. how could she handle the situation?

“she’s so fancy!” you overheared some girls in the cafeteria drooling over the way that momo seated.

“i can’t believe this is her whole house” jirou exclaimed cheerfully when you visited her to study form an exam.

“an intelligent girl is always a classy girl” you listened kirishima while he looked stunned the way yaoyorozu handled, not only professional but also gracefully, a mistaken order at the cafeteria.

you always admired the way she was because of her origin, not in a bad way but you were obviously impressed, and if you were honest with yourself, sometimes it made you feel small.

but until now you never thought about this new insecurity, one that came up with the fact that todoroki and momo would actually look great together.

you tried to take those thoughts away, but your dear classmates were not helping at all.

the rambling of momo being a super match to shouto was getting louder and louder every second to you.

“think about it!”

“so when is the first date happening uh todoroki” kaminari still teased.

“but” midoriya interrupted “you know uhm wouldn’t it matter the way todoroki-kun actually feels about momo”

you stared at him.

but you finally had it when you spotted a slight red tint on todoroki’s face.

he was blushing.

“uh..” todoroki’s face was absolutely fuzzy. what could he say?

“i have to go” you announced way more loud than you expected, with a broken voice only two people were able to decipher.

bakugou took over a glance to you, knowing well what was going to happen next, with a tired groan he yelled. “well done idiots”

you ran out of the common room and took the elevator to go you your room.

“be careful” a voice said over your shoulder while grabbing your back before you touched the ground.

you looked above just to find a pair of beautiful heterochromatic eyes. and also a half red and half white hair type of thing. you were embarrassed that being your first day at school you were already tripping with everything. but fortunately he catched you right before something disastrous happened.

“come on, on the first day? if you have something to tell me god do it right now!” you remembered saying yo the sky. “that was weird, i’m sorry, (l/n) (y/n), sorry for bothering you but thanks for saving me” you laughed.

“do you think god would take my complaints along with yours?” he asked serious, was that his way of making a joke? “todoroki shouto” you smiled.

“DON’T GIVE UP!” you remembered yelling from the bleachers at the sports festival “YOU OWE US!”

todorki heard you from above during his fight with bakugou. he saw you there, almost crying and although he did not understand why were you so invested on it, that gave him the extra strength to stand up to bakugou at least for a little more minutes.

“did you know that seahorses once they find their mate they keep it for life?” you randomly said one day while eating lunch with him. currently doing some extra work so you could be ar least on top 10 of your class “how romantic is that, right todoroki-kun?”

he glanced at you, confused but still admiring. you knew so many things that it was actually impressive to him. he didn’t know why but that day, his heart skipped a bit.

the song may seem stupid but your current mood made you put in on speaker.

“so i guess i do have a crush on him huh” you admitted to yourself.

“about time you made it, idiot” you heard bakugou say “was it hard playing dumb all this time? i mean it’s in your blood”

he was standing at your door arms crossed with that awfully big brother look on his face. you rolled your eyes.

“is it hard messing around being a dickhead? i mean it’s in your blood”

“well you shouldn’t be using that language in front of your lover boy” he said.

“what the fuck are you talking about-”

your body stopped working when he pulled out todoroki out of the wall letting him come out at sight.

the icyhot boy had his hands in his pockets giving that gorgeous look. you blushed, how could he do nothing and still look good?

“why are you feeling this way?” he abruptly asked.

“todoroki-kun?...”

“i’m not dumb, whenever she’s around you act so self conscious” he began “what’s worse is that i see you working so hard everyday but you are so blind that you don’t see what i see”

if anybody could hear the conversation, they would actually say that he was being rude, but you knew him he was just expressing his feelings, weird way tho.

“is it about the money? believe me, yaoyorozu is an incredible girl but you don’t have to compare yourself because how different she is to you in terms of money” your eyes were widened.

why was he talking so much all of a sudden?

“you don’t understand todo...”

“i know what it feels to mad, and seeing you this way it just does it to me over and over again. because everyone has their own opinion on perfect, but to me, you are that definition”

your heart froze at that last thing, his expression was so serious that if you weren’t listening carefully you would have thought that he was mad at you for any other reason. but that’s why you liked him so miches, deep down you understood shouto more than anyone else”

so you didn’t know any other answer that hug him in gratitude.

he was shocked, he never received some kind of display of pure love affection before.

but something in the way you did made him feel better. almost as if your hugs were some magical potion to the answer of everything he needed.

he felt so warm with you between his arms that he didn’t mind staying like this for a couple more minutes.

“wanna go out sometime?” your typical you started coming back again.

the confident and smart girl he learned to care about.

a soft smile crossed his face.

“anytime you want”

and so you thought, you did not have anything to worry about anymore.

BnHA Chapter 278: MOMO IN CHARGE

Previously on BnHA: Deku and Kacchan were all “SIR, THAT’S OUR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT SENSEI” and got really ferocious and made a very passionate attempt to blow Tomura up and it was great. It basically did nothing, but it was still great. AFO was all “COME HERE LIL BRO”, and Tomura was all “silly Sensei, you can’t just take over my mind and body just like that”, and he was very confident of this despite there really being no evidence to back it up, but okay! Gran was all “time to make the fandom mad at me” and grabbed Tomura by the collar and yelled at him about Nana a bit, and then Bakugou and Endeavor made an even MORE passionate attempt to blow up Tomura, which may or may not have done some actual damage. The chapter ended with Gigantomachia battling Mt. Lady, just kinda out of the blue, which is FINE, but she had better be all right, though!

Today on BnHA: Everyone is all “WAUGHH IT’S GIGANTOMACHIA” and running around freaking out about it. The U.A. alums all kick some ass, and pretty much everyone else not from U.A. does jack fucking shit. Mt. Lady, who I plan on naming all of my future children after, does her best to stop Machia but he keeps flinging her aside. Kamui Woods is all “here I come with Midnight to put Gigantomachia to sleep!” and is PROMPTLY FUCKING MURDERED!? by Dabi because he’s a flammable tree man, and so Midnight falls all the way to the ground and is badly injured. So then she’s all “well I better call the most competent person I can think of to fix this mess” and dials up YAOYOROZU FUCKING MOMO, who proceeds to take charge LIKE THE BOSS SHE IS, and mobilizes the rest of the kids. And honestly I have more faith in them than in any of the adults at this point, so yeah, you know what? Let’s do this.

so I am possibly a bit spoiled on this chapter because I did a “top five predictions” post earlier this week, and someone replied to that yesterday on Thursday saying that they were mostly correct. I don’t know exactly how close to the mark I was though, and in any case most of the predictions were just “so-and-so shows up, probably”, so it’s not too bad. we’ll see how it goes!

I mean, CLEARLY they’re all about to be in horrible danger, seeing as Jirou is about to inform them of the whole “THE BIG GUY EVERYONE WAS AFRAID ABOUT WAKING UP WOKE UP” thing, but in the meantime at least Kami and Toadette and Honenuki made it back to the group safely

also Kaminari’s use of “Jirou-Jack” here is fucking inspired and I want him to teach a class on nicknames. isn’t he the one who coined “Yaomomo” as well? this boy has a gift and it needs to be appreciated

so Jirou is all “SOMETHING REALLY BIG IS COMING”, and actually she says “INSANELY HUGE”, which if anything is still an understatement, hard as it is to believe

look at those speed lines!! goddamn. I just felt this huge rush of empathy for Mt. Lady though. like can you imagine growing up with this super-destructive quirk, and managing to become a hero with it against all odds, and having to put up with the manga making fun of you all the time just because sometimes you have a tendency to DESTROY A LOT OF STUFF, but it’s not like you can help it!! but the upside has always been that when your quirk is on, you are fucking UNSTOPPABLE though. so even though it’s been a hell of a rough ride for you, it’s worth it because you’re a complete badass and the number of people who can beat you out in terms of sheer physical strength is probably in the single digits. and you’re working really hard too, and lately you’ve been moving up through the ranks and actually becoming a damn fine hero if I do say so myself (and I do), and it’s like, about time though?? like finally, finally it is all starting to come together for you. and then this snarling trashrock person suddenly comes stampeding along and you put your all into trying to stop him, and it doesn’t even do a damn thing. like, holy shit. that’s just not fucking fair and YOU DESERVE BETTER, MT. LADY

anyway so she’s still hanging in there for now though so let’s check in with our villain squad riding on his back

Oh boy do I! I’m a multi-shipper so tbh I pretty much ship every poly ship out there save for a few that have characters I’m not really interested. In particular I love AllEraserMic, CloudEraserMic, TodoIiDeku, TodoBakuDeku, and KiriBakuDeku. Oh Deku/Ochako/Katsuki too, but I don’t actually remember their ship name LOL. Any variation of the Bakusquad together is super cute too bc they’ve got a ridiculous dynamics. As an aspec multi-shipper myself, I feel your pain! I tend not to read a lot of poly fics bc a lot of them are centered on weird sex and like I’m just not about that life lol. So for fic recs! Maybe We’re Made From The Same Star EXTREMELY cute AllEraserMic soulmate fic. Horror Very soft established relationship AllEraserMic fic centered around anxiety and insecurity Conceptual Paths Very cute Getting Together/Miscommunication AllEraserMic fic Love Like A Common Cold I actually read this bc it was in my email this morning and I absolutely LOVED it. It’s Bakugo/Todoroki/Midoriya/Yaoyorozu and I don’t normally like anything involving Todoroki/Yaoyorozu but it’s a body swapping fic (Bakugo and Yaomomo switch bodies) and it’s really cute and really funny. There’s some mentions of sexual stuff but it’s more like “Mineta’s a disgusting creep” and like awkward boners used for humor purposes. I’m a huge fan of stuff between Bakugo and Momo and also body swapping fics LOL. I Was Lost ‘Til I Found You Established TodoBakuDeku fic that centers around self-doubt which is super relatable as a polyam person with severe anxiety. I think there’s sex mentioned but it’s nothing beyond a casual mention. Mostly sweet comfort. Perfect Equation TodoBakuDeku being pining idiots and confessing love. I’ve read this one like three times now I think? It’s very cute and kind of highlights some of the awkwardness that comes with being new to poly as a concept and confessing to multiple people. Height Problems Short, cute, and fluffy TodoIiDeku with Deku trying to kiss his tall boyfriends lol. Never a Crowd This one is TodoIiDeku and a little more serious than the others but with a lot of hurt/comfort and fluff! It’s also longer than any other todoiideku fic I found that interested me lol (There’s references to sex in this as well but are subtle and not explicit to the point that I missed them the first time I read it lol) I hope that’s a good start for now! I was actually thinking of making a big post with a bunch of fic recs but haven’t gotten around to it. I’ll probably add some of my favorite ShigaDabiHawks ones once I find them too lol. i completely relate to the pain of growing older than your favourite characters because i used to be younger than class 1-a but now i’m just an old bag of bones who feels like a weird perv when it comes to loving my comfort characters from bnha (thank goodness for the haikyuu timeskip).

i like reading fluff the most, and i pretty much stay away from shipping characters because i love self-inserts (what can i say, i just love living the y/n life).

I would read all of these but especially 2 and 3 and especially especially 5 omg. or a version of number 8 where Shouto interrupts their usual 30 minutes of silence and good vibes by asking Momo for advice about his love life because of number 5. and he asks her because he knows she's in a polyamorous relationship with Jirou and Kaminari, which happened due to the band AU, and something something but I'm sure there's a way to fit the rest of it in there too lol

ok omg yes we can do this. hmmm ok so it’s eri’s.........13th birthday??? i have no idea how old she’s supposed to be in canon. but let’s say that in seven years or so she’ll be turning 13. (oh okay the wiki tells me she’s 6 so bang fucking on fuck yeah!! wow that’s a first.)

anyway, it’s eri’s 13th birthday and because it’s eri’s 13th birthday it has to be The Greatest 13th Birthday Party In The World because mirio’s baby girl is a teenager now and that needs celebratin!!!!

and THAT means Getting The Band Back Together because that was an Important Moment in the development of eri’s happiness and safety and joy and she’ll need that energy going into adolescence.

it also means asking aizawa to cater because like he’s a chef or something in his spare time right? ‘you should ask literally anyone else’ says aizawa, ‘that is not the kind of cooking i do. it is in fact virtually the antithesis of the cooking i do.’ but eri gives him her Big Doe Eye Look Of Awe all ‘you can cook and you’ll make food for me???’ so now he has to do it. it’s perfectly rational ok.

(hmm ok this turned into a whole thing, so let’s throw that under a cut)

so that’s happening and casa momokamijirou is now band practice central. which means some Domestic Fucking OT3 Shenanigans. progress on this is discussed during the weekly breakfast and todoroki offers to be part of the tech crew again. he also recently worked a case with inasa. which is a thing that keeps happening every few months somehow despite being on opposite ends of the country, and he’s like ‘yo you know airbending would make for some cool effects. i’ll see if i can rope him in somehow. it shouldn’t be hard, he does like kids.’

inasa is successfully roped in. tech crew planning occurs. ‘wow inasa sure is enthusiastic about this’ todoroki thinks to himself one day while he eats cold soba in his office at 4 pm because villains have no respect for reasonable lunch hours. there is some more contemplation on inasa’s enthusiasm around children and also todoroki and then his brain makes on small step for mankind but one giant leap for todoroki and goes ‘wait.’ he spends roughly the next 20 minutes blinking rapidly at the framed silver age all might poster he’s got hanging on his office wall because he can be a bit of a petty bitch like that. there is a further amount of blinking that happens over the next 48 hours.

halfway through his next breakfast with momo he puts down his natto and says ‘kaminari is a bit of a flirt, right?’ which prompts some blinking from momo as well. she puts down her natto as well.

‘i suppose?’ she says. ‘i would characterize it more as spirited affability, though.’

todoroki considers this briefly and nods. that is a fair assessment. ‘how did you know that the.....spirited affability aimed at you was different from the spirited affability aimed at the rest of the world?’

momo blinks at him again. ‘he told me.’ she says. ‘and kyouka.’ she smiles. ‘he knows us quite well, after all. he knew we needed the help.’

todoroki returns her smile because he is happy for her happiness but then he frowns because that doesn’t exactly help him.

‘........has someone been aiming.......spirited affability at you as well?’ momo asks, catching on.

todoroki nods. ‘i came to the realization a few days ago that over the course of our acquaintance yoarashi inasa has been......particularly spirited in his affability towards me. i’m struggling to figure out what that means.’

momo smiles. ‘what would you like it to mean?’

todoroki frowns more deeply. ‘i’m not sure,’ he admits, ‘but i suppose the amount of thought i’ve put towards means i would like it to mean something.’

momo nods. ‘perhaps you should ask, then. in my experience direct communication is crucial to the success of any relationship.’

todoroki nods and smiles. ‘perhaps i shall.’ he says.

‘would you like me to ask denki for his thoughts?’ momo asks. ‘he is admittedly better at this than i am.’

todoroki considers this. ‘i think i would prefer to ask him myself, if i decide i need the help, if that’s alright.’

'of course,’ momo says and they go back to their natto and their silence and their good vibes.

bakugou attends therapy. bakugou attends a yoga session. bakugou takes up jazz drumming. bakugou calls his mom. bakugou buys a birthday present for eri. each step of the way he thinks to himself ‘time to show these assholes how it’s motherfucking DONE!!’ then he thinks on the 45 minutes his therapist spent explaining the trap of external validation like he was some kind of idiot who hadn’t read up on this shit before starting therapy. he’s a model fucking therapy patient. he’s rocking this shit. he considers that again. he acknowledges briefly that she may have had some kind of point. bakugou goes to band practice and fucking obliterates each and every count in. John Bonham fucking wishes he could count off as good as bakugou does.

momo comes home for another band practice to find that kaminari, who is not my self-insert but who is in this moment embodying my spirit, has locked bakugou in the quirk-killing space momo has been experimentally building, and has been playing Learnalilgivinanlovin at him on repeat for the past few hours. ‘yeah he’s like a million times better than he was when we first met, but he was just telling me about how he’s going to win the yoga session his therapist suggested he go to, so like, i think he could do with some reinforcement of the concept.’

‘todoroki may come to you for advice at some point soon,’ momo says. ‘if he does be nice. if he doesn’t, don’t push it.’

kaminari grins that big grin of his. ‘you know me, yaomomo, i’m always nice!’

momo says nothing.

kaminari’s grin falters. ‘aren’t i? momo? momo, i’m nice person! momo!!’

momo smiles. ‘you are. that’s what i love about you.’ and leaves him blushing in her wake.

jirou, on the other hand, is holed up with tokoyami in her Music Room, introducing him to the Great Hits of early 2000s goth rock. tokoyami looks pretty rapturous as some guy dissolves into feathers on screen. he asks her for the tabs. she hands them over as if she had been expecting this. momo’s sure she had. it’s what she loves about her. she leaves them to it.

the birthday party happens. aizawa looks like he’s aged about 15 years but the food is delivered and it is delicious. eri shyly asks him if he’ll do her hair once more ‘for old time’s sake’. he smiles and those 15 years return to him. eri’s hair looks great.

the band comes out. eri is surprised and thrilled. she asks if she can sit on mirio’s shoulders again like she did the first time. mirio looks like he’s about to vibrate into the sun with joy and says yes, of course.

the band is a hit. everyone dances, including toshinori, who is dragged into some kind of jive by ashido and he rocks it. and then has to immediately sit down for 20 minutes. but it’s good, it’s fine, he’s happy. eri’s happy. mirio’s happy. midoriya fucking cries into his plate of birthday cake he’s so happy.

todoroki drags inasa off to the side at some point to ask him about the thing. momo was correct, of course, and he resolves to tell her this at their next breakfast he thinks as he too smiles happily and dances (awkwardly. with inasa. it’s great.)

it’s a friday night, but crime never sleeps, so a number of them have to get home to sleep so they can work in the morning. the rest remain to help clean up because ‘that’s what heroes do!!’ and as mirio picks up garbage, he looks over to where eri and kirishima are sorting things into recyclable and non-recyclable trash, laughing together at whatever story kirishima is telling, and mirio’s done it, he’s a professional hero, he saves people every day, but this right here is the most heroic he’s ever felt.

Yes. I see a lot of people say they can’t but I listen to pretty much anything I want :^)

2. What’s your favorite ship from your own WIP?

I don’t...have one?

3. If you outline, is mood boards and playlists a part of that?

No. I have tried both but they are just so much work... especially playlists.

4. If you could swap lives with anyone from your WIP, would you?

I’d probably swap lives with Marvin because he gets to travel a lot (and in a fantasy world,, on top of that).

5. Do you have a writing schedule that you stick to?

oh sis.

6. What’s your favorite part about your WIP?

i love the characters!! even if i don’t do them justice on the page, i really love them. holly’s like, lowkey self insert so vibes,,, alejandra is that bitch but she’s also soft!!1!!!1!1! and sabian is my emo son. and hawthorne is my big dumb idiot boy. faith is so sweet and a free thinker. kusao’s just like,,, chaotic neutral if that makes sense??? but he has a soft spot for the kids i just agsjkadh and then nyles??? pure. trying his best. too kind. nobody deserves him. and geels. honestly geels is a little bitch but i still stan. citrus!!! my baby,,,, so trusting and loving of others despite everything--- i cry!! and marvin isnt my son, hes my crush and a not-so-humble traveller but i still love him he’s also pretty chaotic neutral (or probably true neutral)

7. What’s the theme?

Not sure really, but there’s some “seeking validation of others” and “people aren’t who they appear to be.”

8. What comes first in the writing process for you?

If you mean the first thing I think of, then it’s the premise. It can come from literally anything-- even tumblr posts have given me inspiration. But in terms of writing, first I try to get my ideas down on notecards. By then I have a decent idea of what the story is to start writing it.

9. Favorite and least favorite character?

Only one?? I’ll pick from different forms of media then. I like Five Hargreeves (umbrella academy), Yaomomo (oh gosh and todoroki and shinsou) (my hero academia), Kasin Em Demisleed (trump), Lapis Lazuli (steven universe), Baz Pitch (carry on), uh,,, Lana Arwen Lazar (gone),,,, i’m so sorry to all my other children skksks

Least favorites are Cinder (rwby), Brianna aka the breeze (gone), luther (umbrella academy),,, my gosh am i drawing blanks,,,, reino (is that his name??? from skip beat)

10. What do you do to overcome writer’s block?

nothing. i make outlines of the scene, write my thoughts in bullet form, you know. so it’s easier to flow back into the mood.

11. What inspired you to write?

bomb ass books. honestly. after i read harry potter, i was like, bro,,,, what. i was so shook it was the first book to do that to me and i read a lot as a kid. there was a pattern when i was younger. after i read a book i liked, i’d try to write my own book (obvi not getting very far) and it’d be suspiciously like the book i just read,,,,,

Set directly after the cultural festival. Let’s pretend that whatever happens next in the manga happens later, okay? ;)

Cold. It was cold, much too cold. Bitter winter air nipped at her neck as she shivered, trying not to fidget. “Are we done, Papa?” she pleaded, tugging on his sleeve. It was chilly outside, and Momo wanted to go inside. But Momo was a good girl, so she didn’t cry. It was hard to hold in her tears, though, while wearing nothing more than a bathing suit in December. “It’s cold.”

He hardly spared her a glance. “Quit complaining and stop acting so petulantly, Yaomomo. You’re doing this to help others. You want to be a hero, don’t you?”

“But Papa—”

“Concentrate on the formulas, darling,” he chided.

“...please, Papa?”

“Just a few more, Yaomomo. A few more...”

“Yaoyorozu.”

Momo practically fell out of her seat, jerking upwards and letting out a small gasp. She blinked in surprise, taking in her surroundings before realizing that she was in the classroom. She had stayed after class to clean up, but she must have fallen asleep, for the classroom was only dimly illuminated by the dying rays of light that filtered through the window.

How long had I been sleeping for? Moreover...

Pink dusted her cheeks. “M-my apologies, Todoroki-san,” Momo stammered, bowing her head in apology. Self-consciously, she tugged at her ponytail, pursing her lips in annoyance when she realized her disheveled state. “I’m afraid I went to bed rather late last night. Is there something you need?”

The fire and ice user pinned her with a cool stare, tilting his head ever so slightly; she could vaguely detect the concern in his eyes. “Not really,” he answered. His voice, calm and steady, was soothing, in a way. “I was returning from training and saw the lights were still on.”

He didn’t voice his concerns aloud, but Momo read his nonverbal cues well enough. It was a given, considering the months and months she spent sitting alongside her taciturn, laconic seatmate. “I’m fine, Todoroki-san,” she reassured him, flashing him a bright smile. “Really. I was helping Jirou with something and stayed up a little too late.”

That was true: Momo had explained the day’s lesson to Jirou over cups of hot chocolate the night before since Kaminari had distracted the headphones-user during a crucial part of the lecture. They had finally retired to bed around midnight, which was hardly late for Momo, but she was plagued by nightmares (memories) for the rest of a very fitful night.

Todoroki looked somewhat unconvinced, but accepted her appeasement. “Are you heading to the dorms, then?”

“A-ah, I suppose I am.”

“Mm.”

“Why don’t we walk back together?” Momo suggested, giggling nervously to cover up her anxiety. Todoroki was one of the people she admired the most, but it wasn’t just for his looks or his insanely powerful Quirk: it was for his decisiveness, his intelligence, and his kindness, which she had been lucky enough to experience herself. Compared to him, I’m…

A hand reached out and touched her shoulder. Momo nearly jumped out of her skin. “T-Todoroki-san?”

“Stop thinking, Yaoyorozu,” he ordered.

“But—”

“Stop thinking,” he stressed. She stared at him, bewildered. Something about her gaze must have unnerved him, for Todoroki glanced away. “You always have that look in your eyes when you think of depressing things,” he mumbled uncomfortably, averting his eyes. “You’re a capable leader and hero, Yaoyorozu. Stop putting yourself down.”

A small smile stretched across her face as her eyes softened. This was why Momo admired Todoroki Shouto so much.

“You’re much too kind, Todoroki-san,” she replied. Suddenly, looking at him was harder than before. It was easy to speak to him about school matters, but compliments? Feelings? Momo still couldn’t completely believe that he had voted for her of all people to be vice president.

Todoroki, as always, bluntly expressed himself. “It’s the truth.”

Momo felt her face flush. Desperately, she glanced out of the window before finding immense interest in packing up her belongings. Todoroki was silent as she grabbed her notebook and quickly stuffed it in her bag.

“I’m always worrying you, aren’t I?” she rambled nervously, turning to face him while fiddling with her hands. At this rate, Momo might even accidentally create a few matryoshka dolls considering how jumpy she was. Her shoulders slumped as she mumbled ruefully, “As Class 1-A’s vice president, I should be reassuring you, not the other way around…”

She trailed off, unsure of what to say next. Momo usually had no problem conversing with Todoroki: in fact, initial embarrassment and starstruck wonder aside, he was one of the people she enjoyed speaking with the most. Yet, for some reason, her extensive vocabulary abandoned her when her seatmate quirked a questioning, somewhat amused eyebrow at her.

“O-oh! I forgot to mention this yesterday, but the special effects at the concert yesterday were amazing!” she gushed, clapping her hands together in an attempt to hide the way her heart fluttered. Unfair...it was unfair how Todoroki Shouto could throw her off her game with a small change of facial expression. “You and the others truly outdid yourselves. The crowd loved it.”

“It was because of everyone’s efforts.” Todoroki’s voice was lined with amusement. He offered her a hand, helping her out of her seat. “You and the band cheered them up, too.”

“I'm glad that the audience enjoyed it,” she admitted warmly. “Everyone worked so hard to make it special; it'll be hard to beat that next year.”

“We'll come up with something,” Todoroki stated confidently, sliding open the door and allowing her to pass first. She flashed him a grateful smile, exiting the classroom. They silently walked down the hallway side by side, matching their footsteps in perfect synchronicity. Momo was content with simply basking in the fire and ice user’s presence, but to her surprise, he initiated a conversation.

“Yaoyorozu,” he said suddenly, drawing her attention. “If there’s something bothering you, you can always consult someone. Anyone in the class would be willing to help you.”

Momo smiled faintly. “Does that anyone include you, Todoroki-san?”

He blinked, then tilted his head and deadpanned, “Of course.”

The sheer straightforwardness of Todoroki’s statement had Momo reeling. She stared at him in surprise, which he took as confusion. “I simply considered the fact that you might feel comfortable sharing your troubles with one of your friends, so I didn’t want to be upfront and offer my assistance,” Todoroki explained, looking assured in his logic.

Momo blinked. Then, she blinked again. Finally, she doubled over, laughter escaping her lips before she could stop it. “Pfft...you’re really something else, aren’t you, Todoroki-san?” Momo giggled, her obsidian eyes shining with humor and genuine happiness. She straightened herself. “I...I don’t mean to sound presumptuous, but I already consider you as one of my friends. Why did you think I would come along to rescue Bakugou-san?”

Todoroki ducked his head. “I thought it was because of your...obligations as vice president,” he mumbled, his voice so quiet that Momo had to lean closer to hear him.

“As vice president, I was concerned about you all,” Momo confirmed, bobbing her head. “But if I was just Class 1-A’s vice president, then I would have simply warned you and gone to the pro heroes to ensure that they would take every measure to keep you all safe. Instead, I chose to accompany you all. I did that because I consider you, Todoroki-san, and the rest of them as friends.”

“...ah.”

Some, at first glance, might say that Todoroki Shouto was just like his father; he had inherited the same (ironically enough) icy glare that Endeavor possessed, after all. But throughout their time together, Momo had discovered that Todoroki’s cool countenance was nothing more than a result of his frankly pitiable social skills.

...and that was fine with her: she didn’t mind filling in the gaps of the conversation.

“You seem surprised,” Momo commented, raising an eyebrow at him.

“It’s a...pleasant sort of surprised,” Todoroki reassured her. “If it means anything at all, Yaoyorozu...I consider you my friend as well.”

Warmth surged in her chest as they exchanged miniscule, silly smiles before continuing down the hallway, each highly aware of the other’s presence.

And in that moment, Momo could almost completely forget about those chilly years of her youth.

Character name: Kyoka Jiro

Why do you want to play them?: Kyoka to me is a pretty fun character to play and has a lot of potential to explore both in terms of powers and interactions. I enjoy her interesting duality between being a blunt, crabby, tough, rough-around-the-edges punk rock type and her softer, shyer, emotional side. She has a lot of different sides to her, and I like that. She can be loud and passionate on stage, and kind of cool and deadpan the next moment. She'll very matter-of-factly drag people and sometimes has a violent streak to rival Bakugo's (she's one of the few people who casually just uses her quirk to 'zap' people with sound when she's mad.), but she's also very kind and her biggest moments in the spotlight have seen her compassionately encouraging others such as Koji, Denki, and Eri. I like characters like that with a lot of contrast to dig into. I find her really fun!

What is their quirk?: Earphone Jack! Kyoka's quirk allows her to extend her earlobes a very long way and 'plug' into any surface to extend the range of her sharp hearing. In addition to taking in sounds effectively, she can also transmit and amplify the sound of her own heartbeat for powerful offensive attacks.

What powers and limitations do they have: Kyoka can hear extremely well, for one. Which can be a real double-edged sword. The risk of her sensitive ear being hurt by too much sound or by a noise that's especially sudden and harsh are high, especially when she's plugged in. This has frequently been used against her intentionally, and is always pretty painful for her. Her earjacks are also a sensitive and vulnerable target. They can be dangerous and versatile weapons but they're thin appendages and can be injured or even cut to disable her. If she's not careful with how she attacks with them, she can easily find herself critically injured as well as unable to use her quirk.

Describe the character’s personality: Kyoka tends to have a flat, deadpan, affect, that often makes people perceive her as cold, emotionless, or unfriendly. The truth is simply that she finds it a bit difficult to express herself around others. She feels self conscious about showing emotion or even enthusiasm very easily and though she’s easily taken for the cool, unflappable, type, she’s easily flustered deep down She’s generally quiet, blunt, and a bit snarky to start with. Once she’s grown to trust people, she shows a more playful side. She enjoys poking fun at her friends, and goofing around. It’s not usually fast or easy to break through her shell but she’s extremely loyal once she becomes close to people, and is quick to defend her close friends and loved ones.

Preferred relationships (friendships, rivalries, ships, etc): All shipping is to be determined. Depends on what happens and how relationships play out organically. But friendships with the members of the 1-A band (Yaomomo, Kaminari, Bakugo, and Tokoyami) are highly desirable, as I believe Kyoka will always have a special place in her heart for them. They will always be her bandmates.

Please list your goal(s) for the character (This can be a long term plan for the character’s progression, or an aspect of the character you’d like to explore!): I'd be interested to explore how Kyoka's thoughts on heroism and her dreams have grown and evolved. After all she's seen, she certainly has some doubts of her own in the hero system, and whether she can honestly say the world would benefit from having her as a hero, or whether she herself would fall short and create villains of her own by letting people down. The costs of the failures of heroes are very visible to her now. Additionally, I'll be interested in exploring her trying to reckon with the marks that the harrowing events of her high school life and being thrown into a war as a teenager have on her. Especially as current events show the past is hardly past. Exploring her thoughts and feelings on the potential rehabilitation of villains who caused that trauma should be really interesting as well!

For your character: What do you think about UA University’s Villain Rehabilitation Program: "Uh...man, I dunno. I'm not exactly an expert in psychology. The people doing it probably know what they're doing though, right? It's about helping people...so that's good. It's what we're here for, isn't it? I guess...I can't lie. Some of them are still scary to me. Those villains from back then. But it keeps me up at night you know. Thinking some of them were younger than I am now when they did all that..."

“You overhear someone talking bad about you from across the room, how do you react?” Her quirk has its downsides. Even when Kyoka's not plugged in her ears are pretty sharp. She hears a lot. The things people say about her when her back is turned. And what they didn't say. The world is a less friendly place the more you hear, and people less honest. Some even suggested that was why she'd ended up such a prickly, gloomy, girl. She'd heard that too. "Earphone Jack--...wait--...shut up--..shh--...no don't look. Isn't that Jack-- like JIRO Jack...over on the left? Sitting by herself?" "Ah--...it is--...just my luck...I heard we get a lot of UA celebs in here but now that one finally arrives it's the only one who's not my type--..." "Ehhhh? You don't think she's hot...? Not into the mean ones?"

"Almost. But like. I can't get over the squirmy...worm-ears. Dude, sorry I'm not into tentacles like you..." "Pfffthahaha--...dude?? You're gonna get written up for that shit--..." "I can't help what freaks me out...!" They seem to be having a pretty good time there. Kyoka doesn't interrupt. Just chews on her straw. But when she pays, some minutes later for her food, and heads out, she gives a rather flat look to the server and states in a quiet, hiss. "I don't like your ears either." She doesn't tip.

“You have a moments peace outside of class and hero work, what are you doing in your free time?”

Free, quiet, moments are harder and harder to come by. But when she gets them, it's time for music. Which she goes for that day depends on her mood. Whether she wants the heavy stress-relieving impact of the drums, or the steady familiar feeling of fingers and ears on strings, or the bright expressive range of the keys. Some days of course she doesn't reach for any external instrument at all, and simply uses her own voice. She writes her own lyrics, in a journal kept tightly closed, full of half finished songs and rough thoughts, both abstract and personal. Sometimes that's the form that music takes in those stolen moments, not yet released as sound but written in words, its real form only yet imagined, performed in secret in her own head. She's still secretive about it. Despite it all, despite that brief shining time in high school she'd gotten up in front of everyone and hollered her own song. It was so much fun. If only she could grasp that courage, that feeling, again. She wonders often if it would be alright to ask the others if they'd like to play with her again sometime. But she hasn't quite gotten the nerve. It's been an awfully long time after all...

HOLY SHIT ITS BEEN 2 WEEKS SINCE U SENT ME THIS I AM SO SO SORRY. I just really really really love them & knew I had to do right by them and I had to give myself a break from writing bc I’ve been doing so much for school. Nevertheless, I present to you momojirou.....

who’s the cuddler: Kyouka!!! and honestly who blames her. Yaomomo is so much taller than her & makes the perfect big spoon, plus shes just so soft and her hair is so nice and fluffy kyouka doesn’t even mind when it tickles her face. Cuddling is a constant in their relationship and typically what 1 on 1 studying devolves to.

who makes the bed: Kyouka, because Yaoyorozu has apparently never made a bed in her life as she always had maids do it for her growing up. She didn’t even know how to change her own sheets until she moved into the dorms and Kyouka had to help her when she was doing her laundry for the first time. Tragic, truly, but Kyouka takes pity on her because she knows how yaomomo feels about not immediately being the best at everything, even new things.

who wakes up first: Yaoyorozu!! That girl’s hair takes waaaayyyyy to long to do every morning. It's a curly tangled mess when she wakes up and it probably takes her a solid half an hour to 45 mins and about 6 different products for her to get it back into that slick ponytail.

who has the weird taste in music: Depends on what you define as weird. Yaoyorozu is the exact stereotype of every rich kid ever when it comes to music and prefers listening to classical music when she studies because it's easy for her to get in the zone too, she also plays the piano. When she isn’t studying though she just listens to the playlists Kyouka makes her because they make her heart all warm and fuzzy and remind her of Kyouka and yeah all that cute gushy shit.

Kyouka, on the other hand, can listen to some real heavy metal shit. She listens to a little bit of everything. EXCEPT COUNTRY BC HONESTLY NO THANKS, SHE WAS RAISED RIGHT. But other than that she likes techno, pop, alternative, indie, punk, and classic rock. Although angsty girl bands/artists and new wave punk and punk-pop are def in her wheelhouse. Some of her favs of today are Haim, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the front bottoms, fall out boy (old & new tbh), Lights, Tegan and Sara, Chvrches, Sky Ferreira, FIDLAR, and KANA-BOON. (this is totally me self-projecting just a lil, also these are all on the playlist I made her lmao)

who is more protective: Kyouka. Boy oh boy is that girl smol but will fight anyone and everything on the planet to protect her tol tol gf. Kyouka has a lot of anger that she typically keeps inside and only lets out through music or when she's training, but a good way to test her temper is to make Momo upset in any capacity. She 100% has fought Bakugou (& won because I fully believe she could kick his ass if she wanted to) for calling Momo “ponytail”

who sings in the shower: Yaoyorozu! She showers at night (because it would honestly be way too annoying to shower in the morning w/ her hair) so the stalls are never occupied and she normally has the whole girls bathroom to herself! Shes always singing little bits and pieces from songs Kyouka has shown her that get stuck in her head.

who cries during movies: Kyouka, that girl is a big softy at heart, and any movie with a killer soundtrack that just really hits you in the heart is guaranteed to make her cry. Toy story 3? Weeping. When Groot “dies” in Guardians of the Galaxy? Puddle o tears. Katniss singing to Rue in the Hunger Games? Don’t even LOOK at her.

who spends the most while out shopping: Yaoyorozu, no surprises here. The girl has very expensive taste, I mean you did see what she did to her dorm room right? I imagine her closet is no different, she owns like 10 Chanel bags. It’s really not her fault though, she was just raised a certain way, and honestly, if Kyouka could afford it she would probably buy sound/music equipment every day. Not to mention a new guitar sounds nice.

who kisses more roughly: Kyouka and this poor girl is not very good at it. LISTEN, she just loves Yaoyorozu A LOT. Like, a lot, a lot. And every time she looks at yaomomo’s perfect little face she just wants to smooch her. And maybe she’s a little rough about it sometimes because maybe, just maybe, she’s not the most delicate or graceful person in the world. She just wants her girlfriend to know how beautiful she is and that she loves and appreciates her and wants her to believe in herself the way Kyouka believes in her.

who is more dominate: Kyouka, although not by much. Yaoyorozu lacks the confidence to be the more dominating one but she is very blunt with what she wants because her relationship with Kyouka is her first so she doesn’t know any other way to be. Also, she is just a very organized person in general so she is always planning out all of their dates well in advance and fitting in extra study time or hang out time with Kyouka into her schedule.

Kyouka, however, is straightforward because she wants to be. She wants Yaoyorozu to know how much she loves her and appreciates her and thinks she could be the #1 hero if that's what she truly wanted. But also Kyouka is great at communicating. She can sense when things are off with Yaoyorozu and isn’t afraid to ask her about it or give her her space when she needs it.

my rating of the ship from 1-10: *promptly inserts 10 million different heart emojis* UM I WOULD DIE FOR THEM. They are by far my fav bnha ship. I give them a 100000000/10. And just for the record, there are NOT enough momojirou fics out there friends, I would know bc I have read every single one of them folks (if u want a recommendation list just slide right back into my asks my dudes). My #2 ship is Kiribaku in case u were wondering (although they are very very close to being tied for #1) and then I probably would tie tododeku & tsuchako at 3rd place and Miritama at 4th. After that, I don’t even know, probably like kamisero, erasermic, and naomight. Or myself and fatgum lmao don't look at me. I can’t possibly be the only one who lowkey highkey wants to bone fatgum right????

Yaomomo appreciation post

I love all of the BNHA girls but I have to rave about my fave.

Momo Yaoyorozu: a queen. I found myself in Momo with her self-doubt and intelligence. All my life people have called me one of the smartest in my class (I graduated 3rd out of 335 in high school and went on to a prestigious university). Whenever I was met with new challenges to overcome, I tended to doubt myself and thought I wouldn’t be able to rise to the task because of people’s expectations and my perfectionist qualities. People’s high expectations actually made me develop anxiety and depression in college. If only I found BNHA and Momo during college, it would’ve helped me tremendously. I’ll keep Momo in mind for grad school next year though.

Aside from finding parallels between us, she has an extremely versatile, useful quirk that has a lot of potential. Instead of relying on brute combat ability, she is creative (lol punny) enough to analyze what to do next and how to effectively use her quirk to the best of her ability. Reminder that she beat everyone in the quirk apprehension test in the very beginning of the anime. EVERYONE - Todoroki, Bakugou, Deku, Kirishima, Iida, Tokoyami, etc. I would actually love to see her develop by having more ideas on quirk utilization and more products, while overcoming her disadvantage of not being fast enough to create.

[Also please don’t sideline her Hori (or any of the girls) and move away from the common shounen trope of undervaluing female characters just to make the men look better. I’m still pissed by what Kishimoto did to Sakura, who was my inspiration to get into the public health/medical field]

She’s intelligent as hell, beating Iida of all people in class academic rankings. Her quirk requires pouring massive amounts of energy and time into studying physics and materials engineering, memorizing molecular structures. Need I say more?

There’s also the fact that she’s a caring, bright, happy soul who loves her friends and wants them to succeed no matter what. She tutors you and offers you tea. A good mom friend. She’s too perfect but far from a Mary Sue (see quirk disadvantages).

I love Momo so much, bad costume design and all. I wish people stop hating on you for getting in the way of Tododeku (why do y’all see females as a threat to your ships all the damn time???) and that misogynistic, Mineta-like men stop fantasizing about you and calling you a slut.

Here’s to hopefully more canon appearances in the manga aside from turtleneck sweater blessings (see chapter 163).

L: What's the weirdest AU you've ever come up with?

So uh, during the very earliest days of my tumblr, I once wrote this fic for that Big Four (Jack Frost, Merida, Rapunzel, and Hiccup) at Hogwarts. It was... a thing. A very strange thing.

O: How do you begin a story--with the plot, or the characters?

Usually characters in a scenario. I rarely know what's going on plot wise before I actually write the story, I just create the conditions for a plot.

N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you?

OH MAN. Too many, honestly. I wish someone would write the rest of that fake BNHA game release fic. It was going to be rad except now I feel really weird writing it when I have the actual game to develop. So um, yeah I guess that's one.

I have an old fic with Morgan going to meet his young baby self and twin that I never finished because it kind of spiraled out in a weird direction. I really wanted there to be some adventure where Haura and Lon'qu had marital troubles, Haura runs off to go rescue not baby Marc, and Morgan and Lon'qu kind of talk through this weird stuff about the kids feeling replaced. And a big family reunion in the end. But alas...

Someone who is a REAL LIFE FIGURE SKATING FAN but not me should write that BNHA figureskating AU. I want that real angst that only someone who watched their favorite skaters pop their triple axel and retire early have felt. (yulia... ;u;)

I want someone to write me this momojirou fic that is comprised entirely of really edgy hero shit and also pining and also quiet afterparty post rock concerts that momo has never been before but jirou says, you deserve this, you deserve the chance to laugh and be angry and drink too much and they spill merlot onto jirou's vintage rock jacket and yaomomo is instantly horrified but jirou kisses her and it's okay to not be perfect

(the point i'm trying to make is young adulthood is hard, being a perfect student doesn't make you a good adult, and being cool doesn't mean you can always save your friends)

Q: Do you have any discarded scenes/storylines/projects?

Quite a few! Fanfic-wise, I ended up never being able to tackle direct, during the game canon stories about the FE:A game world. I tried with Philia and Storge, but honestly, writing things like Those of Grima or the post canon content was way more satisfying.

BNHA-wise, I'm pretty new to the fandom so not really? For original work, a lot of the stories I write for class I really want to go back to, because by their nature, they're incomplete. I do turn in stories two thousand words longer than the average but they're not done. The spirit medium in Taiwan story I especially want to revisit.

U: A pairing you might like to write for, but haven't tried yet.

MOMOJIROU. I'd also like to try to make Tsuchako work for me- I feel like Ochako and Tsuyu, while I love them, are narratively weak characters for me, so it's hard for me to think of stories for them. I'd also like to try my hand at writing Todoiideku which is the only OT3 I have ever shipped (pretty wild, right?).

I've also never written for Haikyuu but I'd like to try some cisswap Kagehina because the other day I read the most glorious volleyball girls fic and it made me realize a) how much I love volleyball again, b) how much I love girls, and c) how much better volleyball is with girls. Sorry, not sorry.

Also I think it would be a lot of fun to write Diana and Akko, now that I'm getting into Little Witch Academia.
