Chapter 5: Evening at the Woods’
Clarke swallowed back a yawn as she parked in front of the city hall, her obnoxiously large truck standing out in the almost empty parking lot.
After her long journey and two nights spent on Tivy’s relatively comfortable floor, she had slept like a baby. And jolted awake when her alarm rang, with drool down her chin and bed hair worthy of a picture. Even two coffees and a toast later, she wished she could return to the soft bedding of Polis Hotel and resume her dreams. Hopefully, she would find herself in Lexa’s arms once again.
Clarke stepped out of Tivy and headed for the entrance, determined to make the day count. The city hall should have records of past eruptions and earthquakes in its archives. Not that the Earth’s moves and tantrums were easy to predict. But she would feel better knowing she had done everything in her power to ensure the locals—Lexa and her family—were safe.
Before Clarke could reach the doorknob, it opened abruptly to reveal a tall, thin woman with hair so blond it was almost white. The icebergs she had observed the year before gave off more warmth than the pale blue eyes that sneered at Tivy before refocusing on her.
“Is that your vehicle?”
Curbing a shiver, Clarke squinted defensively and withheld her hand. “Yes. Dr. Clarke Griffin. I’m here to consult the city hall’s archives regarding—”
“Mayor Nia Queen.”
Like an iron gauntlet, the emphasis on the title landed heavily between the two women. Ready to take up the unspoken challenge, Clarke bristled until Lexa’s previous mentions of the mayor came back to her. This was the woman she needed to convince evacuation drills weren’t a waste of time. Lives could depend on it.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she said with a plastic smile. “I was hoping to run into you. As you might know, I was here when the hurricane hit three months ago.”
Mrs. Queen pinched her lips and glanced at Tivy. “Yes, I thought I recognized this monstrosity. What brings you back here? We spent tens of thousands of dollars on repairs after the storm. I hope you’re not here to tell me we should expect another one.”

this chapter is sorta long so beware! | Part 2 link here.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
“jisung-ah.” areum calls out to the taller boy, jisung with wide eyes runs up to areum with arms open, the two share a tight hug. “areum! what are you doing at my uni campus, shouldn’t you be at your new work?”
the question caught areum into a prance, an unsure hum came out the lips and she lets go off jisung, a nervous chuckle coming out. “that’s why i’m here. you see, i’ll be going abroad with my company..to america.”
it was a lie. everything was a lie, areum wanted to tell the truth but that will put jisung in a risk with the mafia. areum saw jisung eyes light up with a wide happy smile for his older sister. “wow! noona you should take it, what are you waiting for? don’t let me drag you down, i don’t want to burden you anymore.”
his words hit inside of areum’s heart, a shake, a ripping feeling that pierced her apart. jisung was so selfless, it amazes areum sometimes. areum suddenly engulfs the tall young boy into a last hug. jisung slowly returns it, thinking why is his sister being so dramatic as if she won’t ever see him again.
“noona you sure you’re okay?” he calls out in the hug, areum nods holding in the tears. “yeah, yeah, don’t worry. i’ll see you again soon. i promise.” jisung nods, “not to cut this short but i have to go to class now— mina is waiting for me.” areum raises eyebrows at the name, a slight smirk. “your girlfriend?”
jisung turns red at the statement. “nooonaaaa.” the whine made her chuckle, “okay i’m off, stay safe, eat proper meals alright? not just snacks!” areum shouts as jisung runs to class, he waves and areum returns it too.
the smile dissolves as soon as it was made. areum turns around seeing a black limo outside the campus school. areum glares their way, approaching to the vehicle and then getting inside it.
the dark atmosphere was there, areum watches the driver and the armed guy with a gun in front of her where she sat. areum silently sniffles, trying to not make as much noise when sobbing.
the guy softly speaks out, watching the university go out of view from the limousine window, although he heard the girl cry in despair. “that was your brother right?” areum was wary if she should answer or not but she nods slowly. “yes, it was.”
he notices the cautious behaviour from the young woman, he puts the gun away easing the body language of his, reaching hand forward with a handkerchief to wipe the tears. “you don’t have to be so defensive with me. i want to apologise for the inconvenience you are in.” the deep voice told. areum slowly takes the handkerchief, soon to see his hand stay out in front areum , the girl looks up to him with a slight scoff, knowing that jaemin also wants to shake hands for introduction, she would shake the hand with her own gently.
“who are you? You’re way too nice to me.” areum told, watching the light blonde male. “na jaemin, i’m jeno’s right hand and deputy leader when he is not around. also i’m always nice, don’t think of this as weird.”
she could only nod, observing the strange man in front. he seems normal, talks politely, is overall someone trusting; so why is he in the mafia? areum felt the limo stopping in front of a large mansion, she was to turn to jaemin who was already outside opening her door so she could get out of the limo.
“welcome to your new home, areum.” jaemin said while seeing the shocked expression on her face. areum follows the bodyguards and jaemin inside, a marble staircase in front of the double door entrance, and tile floors that look expensive, fancy, rich.
the mansion had elevators and a staircase down below the grand floor. there was another floor above with the marble staircase too. it was huge, almost like a maze.
“your room is on the second floor, same level as jeno’s. he hates people crowding the same area where he sleeps so the only people allowed upstairs is just you and him.” jaemin would continue explaining,
“what about you?” areum asks and jaemin shown a wide mischievous smirk. “i’m an expectation. rules don’t apply to me unless it is the oath.”
the oath? areum was even more intrigued, tilting head. “what oath?” areum’s question was immediately paused when a large voice from behind moving towards you both.
“an outsider should not be asking questions as they please,” jeno stands beside you with a deep glare. “especially nosey corrupted journalists.” areum glares at the man,
“maybe if the mafia leader did his job correctly,” silence paused between the words as areum watches around the place, back to jeno’s face. “then he wouldn’t be dealing with a nosey outsider in his home in the first place.” jeno’s face scrunches in anger, he wishes something goes and bites areum’s words back to prove how much his blood is boiling. the mafia bodyguards and soldiers watch in gasp.
no one dares speak back to their cruel leader, only jaemin is an expectation as he is jeno’s right hand advisors and deputy. but to see a mere outsider do it? unbelievable in their eyes. they view areum as someone walking on her last thread of living.
jeno darkly laughs. “you sure have balls. whatever,” he would continue. “your life is mine now, remember our deal?”
areum face goes dark remembering the condition. jeno smiles happily watching the girl’s despair grow bigger. “exactly, meaning if i order you to do something you will do it.” jeno said, grabbing the hem of her white shirt, lifting the body off the ground a little. areum gasps to the choke as her hands hold jeno’s wrists trying to push him away as much as possible.
“listen well park areum, i won’t repeat myself again.” jeno told. “you will be my personal left hand, wake me up at 7am sharp, give me my breakfast while you do that too. share my schedule, gathering information on whoever i tell you to. if i tell you to kill someone, you do it. understood? if you fail to do any of those once you better prepare yourself for my gun.”
jaemin watches areum struggling beside the other bodyguards, he felt the need to tell jeno this was too much but he couldn’t bring himself to interrupt jeno. areum would drop on the cold floor on her back, gripping the white shirt, choking on air. jeno shares one dark expression before walking away, bodyguards resuming to their work with the boss.
jaemin crouches down, helping areum from the ground. areum murmurs, fidgeting with the shirt, “i’ll shove that gun of his up his ass.” jaemin lightly laughs, moving her hands that were trying it’s best to fix the messed up shirt. instead he does it for you, the sweet man in front of areum would button the two, making sure areum was not exposed anywhere.
areum felt a slight heartbeat skip when jaemin links eyes with hers. he smiles, “sorry for jeno’s actions.” is all he said, areum looks down holding jaemin’s wrists in her own hands. “don’t apologise for him. thank you for everything today.”
the very next day came quicker than areum had to admit.
the commotion from the very next day travelled around the mansion like a plague. whenever people see areum walking by it’s all whispers, chitter-chatter gossips. it was annoying but nothing much she can do about it. areum was given clothes to wear around durning work, a black blazer; white long button shirt and black trousers. apparently being jeno’s left hand is a high rank job—.
areum can’t figure jeno out but she knows one thing. don’t judge a book by its cover. no matter how terrible jeno acts, he never done something without intention. the young woman stands in front of the rich door, knocking on it loudly, no response. Areum sighs walking in the room, the darkness of his bedroom was heinous.
areum could barely move in the pitch black, but thankfully she made a way to open the curtains allowing sunlight gaze over jeno’s bare v shaped back. she puts the tray with breakfast on the small coffee table but areum’s eyes were glued on jeno’s body, actually— she was checking him out. areum comes closer to the sleeping man.
“he looks handsome when he isn’t talking.” areum blurts out into the thin air, as her face was just an edge away from jeno’s peaceful face.
“thanks.” the deep voice suddenly spoke, areum falls with a short scream, rolling on the floor, groaning. the man sits up on his bed yawning out with arm stretches. his dark brown pupils glance to the breakfast.
jeno casually gets out of bed with black boxers on and shirtless to the food tray. areum goes slightly red at the situation, not only because of the embarrassment but the fact that his body was actually insane. he was built with muscles and, he looked ethereal.
he turns to areum who was still on the ground. “aren’t you going to get up?” his rasp voice was so hot, areum shakes the unholy thoughts, standing up.
jeno sits down sipping the warm coffee. “my schedule.” areum gently side glances jeno unable to keep her eyes from staring at his beautiful face but at the same time areum can’t maintain eye contact with him for too long. she was anxious for no reason.
“you have to check on the newbie soldiers in training at 10am, later around 10:30 you will have to go on missions until 5pm.” jeno nods towards areum, seemingly she wasn’t useless as he thought. Surprisingly, areum was taking this seriously, he found that admiring.
he saw her eyes tremble avoiding when he caught them staring. jeno leans back into his chair, sneaking a hand around the waist of areum. she yelps in surprise. “you keep checking me out,” he said. “why is that areum?”
there was a hint of tease in the tone. areum gulps, feeling heavy on her chest the more his skin pokes through the fabric clothing she is wearing. “i uh.. i’m not, sir.” jeno would raise one eyebrow up at the name. “sir? that’s a new one.” he said.
areum clears her throat. “jaemin told me it’s better to call you sir than a dickhead.” she glances at jeno who found it awfully amusing, areum was vulgar, not afraid to challenge jeno and he really enjoyed that. it was almost like a charm to her. jeno puts out a laugh, “ah really? i like it. continue calling me that”
areum would let another flustered but slow nod, jeno letting go off your waist and then watching you stand up. he witnesses her legs tremble as her thoughts went clouded.
“have my breakfast instead, i’m not hungry. good work today.” jeno said, walking out of his room with a silk rob wrapping on the muscles nicely fitting loose.
areum gasps for air the moment his presence left, going weak knees on the ground immediately. why can’t you seem to feel normal around jeno?

Houston Underride Truck Accident Lawyer: An Overview
If you or a loved one has been injured in a truck accident, you may be wondering if you have a case.
1. What is an Underride accident?
An underride accident is a type of car accident that happens when a car or truck goes under the back of a larger vehicle. This can be very dangerous because the person in the smaller car can be crushed by the larger vehicle. Underride accidents often occur when a car is trying to pass a truck on the highway and gets too close. They can also happen when a car is driving in reverse and is hit by a truck.
2. What are the risks of an Underride accident?
Underride accidents are a serious safety concern, as they can lead to severe injuries or fatalities. These accidents can occur when a vehicle travelling in front of a truck or other large vehicle is struck and driven underneath the larger vehicle. This can happen in a variety of ways, such as when a car runs out of gas and is rear-ended by a truck, or when a car is turning and is struck by a truck travelling in the same direction.
The risks of an underride accident are significant. Injuries that can occur in these accidents include decapitation, crush injuries, and burns. In some cases, victims may be trapped under the larger vehicle and unable to escape. This can result in death or serious injury.
It is important to be aware of the risks of an underride accident and take steps to avoid them. drivers should be aware of their surroundings and keep a safe distance from trucks and other large vehicles. If you are in a situation where you are likely to be struck by a truck, try to get out of the way if possible. If you cannot avoid the collision, try to protect your head and neck.
3. What are the causes of Underride accidents?
Underride accidents are a relatively rare but deadly type of crash. They account for only about 2 percent of all crashes, but cause about 20 percent of all fatalities. What are the causes of these accidents, and what can be done to prevent them?
One of the main causes of underride accidents is that cars are simply not tall enough to be visible over the tops of trucks. Trucks have a much higher profile than cars, and when they are stopped at a traffic light or in traffic, they can block the view of cars behind them. This can lead to cars slamming into the back of the truck, or worse, driving under the truck.
Another cause of underride accidents is driver error. When drivers are not paying attention, they can easily miss the fact that a truck is in front of them. This can lead to drivers slamming into the back of the truck, or worse, driving under the truck.
There are a few things that can be done to help prevent underride accidents. One is for cars to be made taller, so that they are more visible to trucks. Another is for drivers to be more aware of the dangers of underride accidents, and to be more careful when driving around trucks. Finally, truck drivers can take steps to make their vehicles more visible, such as using flashing lights or reflective materials.
4. How can Underride accidents be prevented?
Underride accidents can be prevented by adding guards to the front and sides of trucks. These guards can help keep cars from going under the truck in the event of a collision. Another way to prevent underride accidents is to increase the height of the truck bed. This will help keep cars from going under the truck in the event of a collision.
5. What should you do if you are involved in an Underride accident?
If you are involved in an underride accident, you should take the following steps:
Stay calm and assess the situation.
Check yourself and any passengers for injuries.
Call 911 if anyone is injured.
If you are able to, move the vehicle to a safe location.
Exchange information with the other drivers involved.
Contact your insurance company.
6. What are the consequences of an Underride accident?
An underride truck accident can have devastating consequences. The force of the collision can cause the vehicle to ride up underneath the other vehicle, which can lead to death or serious injuries. In some cases, the impact can cause the vehicle to be wedged underneath the other vehicle, leading to a prolonged and dangerous crash.
7. Who can help you if you are injured in an underride truck accident In Houston?
If you are injured in an underride accident, you may be able to receive compensation from the driver or trucking company responsible for the crash. You may be able to file a claim for damages, including medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. You should speak to the best accident attorney in Houston to learn more about your legal options.
8. How much compensation can you receive for an Underride accident?
If you are involved in an underride truck accident, you may be able to receive compensation for your injuries. An underride accident occurs when a vehicle goes underneath another vehicle. This type of accident can be very dangerous, as the person in the vehicle that is underneath is at risk of being seriously injured or killed. You may be able to receive compensation for your injuries. This compensation can include medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering. You may also be able to receive compensation for the death of a loved one in an underride accident. It is important to speak with a lawyer. A lawyer can help you determine if you are eligible for compensation and can help you file a claim. sbi + reader and reader gets kidnapped bc i like the idea lol
@cr0wbonezz-wr1ting-inc remember this request? well, i rewrote it.
tw: gun usage, knife usage, injuries, fighting, blood, killing (a lot of it, so if you're uncomfortable please don't read)
as you walked in the dark street, the town clock showing midnight, you couldn't help but feel like something was off. maybe you should have been more careful when killing that spy. suddenly you felt someone's presence behind you, and seconds later you heard the sound of a gun being reloaded. this can't be good. you took out your own gun, and risked turning your head ever so slightly to look behind you. that turned out to be a mistake as the person after you now knew you were aware of their presence. you knew this was your only chance, so you turned around and shot your stalker, aiming for the shoulders. however, you missed your shot because they had predicted that you would shoot and dodged it.
"fuck." you cursed under your breath and pulled out a throwing knife, and flung it at the person. finally, you had hit the target, and they backed away, holding their leg and hissing in pain. you saw your opportunity and tried to run, but your way was blocked by two buff guys, and you knew you had no chance now. one of them got a firm grip on your left hand while the other held onto your right. you didn't even try escaping, because now you knew: these were Dream's men, and you knew exactly what they wanted.
they thew you into a black car with tinted windows and shut the doors. with a click, all of them were locked and the vehicle started moving. you tried to keep your eyes open but failed and the last thing you saw before you blacked out was the car finally coming to a stop.
-
you woke up to the sound of loud footsteps that sounded like their owner was pacing the room. you sat up, rubbing your eyes. the footsteps stopped upon seeing you awake, and you finally got the chance to see who it was.
sapnap. of course it was him. one of the founders of Dream Inc. he kneeled beside you and you tried to kick him in the face but something stopped you. you looked around, confused.
"our new invention, like it?" the boy asked cockily but you didn't reply, and stood up to explore. you tried to see what was holding you back from absolutely destroying sapnap's face. apparently, there was an invisible barrier around you.
"what do you want from me?" you asked, not even bothering to look at sapnap.
"isn't it obvious? we want to know where your secret base is, plus won't techno be worried for you? he'll do anything to have you back." you immediately recognized the new voice as george, and when you looked at him, you also saw dream behind him.
"well i'd rather die than tell where it is!" you spat, crossing your arms. you looked persistent, however, a plan was already forming in your head.
-
"dream has y/n," techno said to all the boys gathered around him. "and he promised to let them go if i showed up alone, with a million bucks." he completed, waiting for everyone's reaction.
no one spoke for a second, everyone thinking of a way out of the situation.
“please tell me you have a plan.” ranboo said, and technoblade, despite the situation couldn’t help but smile.
“of course i do. tell Phil we'll be back by dinner."
-
"tommy, hurry the fuck up!" Tubbo whisper-yelled. tommy didn't reply, focusing on the locked door he was trying to open. finally he was successful, and with a small creack the door opened, revealing an empty corridor.
"now, are you sure you don't need our help there?" Tommy asked, but techno shook his head.
"the six of us will be too noticeable. that's why i'm only bringing wilbur with me. you guys will be crucial for the last part of the plan; which is running away with y/n." they all shared encouraging glances, and with that techno and Wilbur started making their way in the maze of underground corridors in the Dream Inc. base.
-
"so that's how it's going to be?" george spoke, an eyebrow raised. "you're not going to tell us?" his voice dropped dangerously low, signifying how badly he needed the information. you pretended to feel a little scared, but in reality it was all a part of your plan.
"fine," you sighed, looking down. "i'll tell you." devilish smiles spread across the three men's faces.
"good. now tell us, where is your little base?"
-
Techno and Wilbur finally arrived at the main entrance where four guards were lined up, clearly bored and exhausted. they took advantage of that, Wilbur immediately shooting two of them while techno tackled one of them to the ground, covering their mouth. he took out a knife and threw it towards the fourth guard, silencing them too.
they continued walking. they bumped into a few more guards that were quickly un-alived and they finally reached the room which they knew was y/n's cell. techno looked at wilbur.
"ready?" he questioned, and wilbur nodded. they burst into the room, and sure enough, there was y/n, but they weren't alone.
"dream." techno spoke, anger laced into his voice.
the other boy just chuckled. "well, well, well. who do we have here?" he asked in a mocking tone, george and sapnap sharing looks behind him.
"let them go." Wilbur said, and dream turned to him.
"why would i? it seems like they're enjoying their stay."
"i'm not!" y/n shouted from their place, but was quickly silenced when george pulled out a knife.
"where is our 1 million? you know, it's not nice to break your promises." Dream continued, his smirk slowly fading, his expression becoming more and more serious.
"i think i forgot it at home... what a pity you can't buy more guns now," techno fake pouted at his rival. "but don't worry, I still brought you something." with that, he firmly punched dream in the stomach, making the boy bend over and hold his abdomen in pain. wilbur quickly tackled george to the ground, and pressed his knife against the boy's neck. there was only sapnap left now, who techno shot in the shoulder, just to make him get out of the way. Wilbur got done with george and they both ran towards where y/n was.
"there is an invisible barrier around me! the remote must be around here." they quickly spoke, knowing that the other guards in the building were probably aware of the situation. dream was also recovering, and he slowly stood up.
"you're such a pig, techno." he said as he pulled out a gun, ready to shoot.
"i know." and with that he threw a knife towards him, but missed.
"i might leave your little friend here alive if you tell me where your secret base is," Dream tried to bargain while defending himself. "but you, my friend, i'm afraid you won't be so lucky." he added once he saw that techno wasn't backing down. and he fired a shot towards the boy, and techno fell to the ground, clutching his leg.
"bye bye, big t." Dream said evilly, but fell to the ground seconds later, blood streaming down his face.
-
"techno! are you alright?" you screamed out, and wilbur finally found the remote, setting you free. you ran to techno, trying to inspect his wound. thankfully, the bullet had missed crucial parts and so it wasn't very bad, but the way techno laid there in pain made your heart ache.
"Wilbur, can we carry him?" the tall boy nodded, concerned for his brother. you carefully picked up techno and started running to the exit, Wilbur guiding you through corridors. Finally you made it out and spotted your other friends in a car.
they quickly got out, trying to help in between questions that you promised to answer later. Wilbur got behind the steering wheel, driving the vehicle away and far from the place you hoped you'd never return to.

Pairing : Conny Springer x Fem Reader
Genres : Smut, very smutty! Lots of angst: Lovers to Enemies to Lovers again
Warnings : BIG ATTACK ON TITAN SEASON 4 SPOILERS !!! Read at own risk. Heavy sexual content including vaginal sex, oral, general foreplay, dominance, slightly kinky. Brief mentions of death and character trauma
Summary: You and Conny were once lovers but a tragic accident caused the two of you to fall apart leaving nothing but hatred between the two of you. Two years later after the incident you’re sent on a mission with him to foreign lands where you end up having to share a bed in an inn for the night. The past resourfaces leaving growing tension between the two of you that becomes completely unbearable.
A/N : Hi this is my first time posting anything, I’m also an artist so if this posts generates enough interest I might do an NSFW drawing to complement it 👌🏼
“Y/n are you listening to me” your captain’s voice forced your attention back in to the room that you were currently stood in with the rest of the squad members who had not yet left for Marley.
“Yes, my apologies Captain Levi”. Though he was significantly shorter than the rest of the members of his squad, including yourself, Levi’s presence took up the room where ever he was – no one stepped out of line with him so you ignored your body’s urges to retaliate with a snide remark as you normally would have had it been anyone else.
“Y/n and Conny I am ordering you both to infiltrate Marley and rendezvous with your team mates, make contact with them as soon as you can”.
Your body stiffened at the name of your fellow comrade that you’d been paired up with. Seeing your composure shift Levi challenged you.
“I am assuming that I can count on you to carry this task out without any issues, yes y/n?”
No
“Yes sir” your replied, devoid of all emotion if anything to not let Conny have the satisfaction of getting under your skin.
God this was going to be the end of me, you thought to yourself, if not this war then he will be.
“Good, I want you both to remember that this is bigger than us all so neither of you screw this up or I will personally beat you both into pulps. You’re both relieved”.
You didn’t wait to see if Conny would say anything to you, your legs carried you as fast as they could out of the room to your quarters that you once shared with the other girls in your squad, you wished they were here right now. The memory of Sasha weighed heavy in your heart as you laid on your bunk thinking about the times you’d talk about the different kinds of foods you would find in your adventures, the people you’d meet. You remembered Sasha had given you the strength to finally tell Conny how you felt. She was there through all of it, giving you advice on how to deal with her best friend when you would have an argument with Conny. Your sleepless nights when you’d be ridden with anxiety. She was there through to the very end.
The memory of your dearest friend colliding against you propelling you away from the looming mouth of the titan rips you apart, plagued with the image of you friend being ripped from limb to limb where you should have been instead.
Your body began to shut down, you try to steady your breathing but it’s no use. You feel your panic begin to rise and bloom across your chest as your breaths fall shorter than normal. You try to work though the exercises that help you control these episodes but to your own dismay you can’t focus. All you could see was Sasha’s face crumpled in fear as she screamed for you to run. Why did you have to save me Sasha? You cried out in desperation in the lonely confines of your room.
That day you hadn’t just lost Sasha, you lost the last part of you that was clinging on to the hope that things would be okay one day. But that hope died the moment Sasha did. It wasn’t just you who felt it either, it wasn’t spoken of but you felt the resentment of your comrades, of the person you loved, knowing that they wished it had been you that day, not Sasha. Only Mikasa had shown you kindness, the kind that was heartfelt and genuine that made you feel safe but soon Mikasa was sent along with the Armin, Eren and Jean to Marley once again leaving you with nobody.
-----------------------------------------------------
The next morning you found yourself in the same hall you had been in last night with Levi and the rest of your comrades.
Get over yourself y/n he hates you and you hate him. You hate him. You hate him. YOU HATE HIM. Levi once again begrudgingly pulls you out from your thoughts forcing back into reality.
“Let’s go soldiers” he declares and yourself and Connie stiffly follow behind to the vehicle that transports you both to the port where you’re met with a small boat you assumed would carry you to Marley.
“Are you both clear on what your orders are?”
“Make contact with the our comrades and rendezvous and escape without being noticed” you and Conny say in unison.
“Alright good. You’re all under strict orders to not die”.
With that Levi turns on his horse and rides back to the walls leaving a deafening silence in his wake. Neither of you say anything to each other, you don’t bother looking at him, you doubt he does either as you both mount the boat and head for the enemy territory.
A few hours into the journey you were beginning to feel restless, this was your first time crossing over such a large body of water and you weren’t sure how you felt about it, the silence between yourself and Connie wasn’t helping either. Reluctantly fed up of the silence you get up from the spot you were keeping warm and walk over to Connie. You’re never prepared for the hatred you see in his eyes whenever they make brief contact with you; it had been like that since Sasha’s death.
“What do you want” he mumbled forcing himself to look at anything else but you, opting to glare at the ocean instead.
Choosing to ignore the ignited fire burning in side of you, you push on wards asking him if he wanted to train while you were both stuck here with nothing else to do.
“Fine” Connie replied reluctantly “but don’t cry when you hurt yourself, princess”.
The venom that coated the words he once used to sooth you cut deep within you, but you pushed that hurt aside burying it deep, far enough that you couldn’t reach it and instead let your anger that you used to trick yourself into hating Connie consume you.
In one swift movement your legs kicked Connie from underneath him resulting in a loud thud as his back hit the hard wooden deck. Not wasting your breath you immediately were on top of him pushing your entire body weight down pinning his arms either side of his head. You cringed at this familiarity.
“That’s a lot of talk for someone who-” you were immediately cut off as he swung his arms down, bucking his hip up towards you sending you flying onto the deck. Conny moved quickly, before you could regain your senses he was already out from underneath you. His body pressed harshly against your back, his right arms tightly wrapped itself around your throat, his other behind your neck. The feeling overwhelmed you as the memories plagued your mind only now he held you with the intention to hurt you. He didn’t care anymore. Panicking you pushed your body backwards but to your dismay he simply held you tighter in his headlock, his own legs wrapped around yours.
“What was that?” He growled into your ear. You stayed silent. “That’s what I thought, who’s going to save you now huh y/n? Pathetic, if you had been better she would still be here”.
Something with in you snapped, you knocked your head back bashing against Conny’s forcing him to let out a scream reluctantly letting go of your throat. Before you could stop yourself your fist found it’s self against Connie’s cheek.
“Fuck you, you piece of shit”. You tried to steady yourself as you slowly pulled your body weight up walking away from him, not bothering to look at him.
“Say something like that to me again and I will kill you” you spat. With that you disappeared.
Evening stained the sky with all of its brilliance, shades of rose and golds were spread as though they had been painted by someone, illuminating the world beneath it. It sure was a cruel joke, to have such beautiful sights and yet in order to have these experiences you needed to live and that was a curse in the world you lived in. Sighing, you focused your attention to the crystal ocean mesmerised by the waves as they lightly folded over one and other occasionally making the boat sway a bit more than the usual. Strange creatures swam around, freely without a care in the world; you wondered what it was like to be free like that. Lost in your thoughts you hadn’t realised that a person had appeared until their voice cut through your thoughts stealing you away from the momentary feeling of peace.
“Miss we are almost reaching the shores of Marley, we should be making contact by nightfall”.
“Thank you commandeer”.
The tall man satisfied with having delivered the message left, assumingly to let Conny know. Your heart felt heavy in your chest at the thought of his name. NO! You interrupted yourself not allowing your heart to deceive you… he doesn’t love you and you don’t love him, the people you once were are no longer there.
You finally reached the shore and were left with a vague direction of where you both were supposed to be headed. Silently you both walked through the forest for cover not wanting to be seen by anyone else. After what seemed like hours you finally came to a town that seemed to be guarded by walls, guards patrolling it without a chance to sneak in.
“Levi could have warned us about this” you huffed taking in your surroundings assessing any points in which they could sneak in.
“Wait here” Connie said, before you could object he was already half way down walking to a couple of guards along one section of the wall. You watched as he single handily took them both out stripping them of their uniform and hiding them behind some trees. He finally made his way back towards you throwing the jacket along with an arm band.
“Wear this” he mumbled not bothering to look at you as he made his way over to the gate, you hesitated before reluctantly following in his steps. The guards scoffed looking at you both with disgust but made no movements to try and stop you from entering. Once you were far enough into the walls, covered by the crowds you let out a breath of air you had not realised you had been holding in.
“Conny! You mind slowing down? It’s no use if we end up getting separated”. Conny immediately stopped pulling you into a dark alleyway.
“If you keep shouting like that we are going to get caught. So shut the fuck up”
“Well if you weren’t walking so fast and slowed down to use that non-existent head of yours we might have a better chance at finding the others quicker, then this whole nightmare will be over” your waved your arms explosively in the air in attempt to keep your frustrations under control.
“I don’t want to be here as much as you and I especially don’t want to be here with you so don’t make our lives more difficult than what it actually is” you finished forcing yourself to not break away from his stare as he towered over your frame. When you were met with silence you safely assumed that you had had the last word, taking this opportunity you suggested that you both go to find an inn for the night where you can both devise a plan to find the others. Thankfully, Conny did not object to the idea, though he didn’t look thrilled either – no matter, that’s his issue you thought to yourself.
It didn’t take long for you to find an inn, it seemed in good condition and didn’t stray too far from the path you had both familiarised with. You look over to Conny searching for a mutual agreement, not that he had much say in the matter. Regardless, he nodded as you both walked in. You were met with the smell of antique wood with a hint of the ocean breeze. It was nice, much nicer than any of the places you had ever grown up in back at home. Taking in your surroundings you noticed the white walls were decorated in hints of gold and brass, large paintings of people dressed in fine gowns clung on to them. Beneath your feet the carpet was red and plushie with ornate gold patterns that matched the walls. It took everything within you not to gape at the place. In the midst of your admiration at the grandeur of this place you hadn’t realised that Conny had already walked up to the main desk and was negotiating with the woman before him. There was a smile stretched on his features, a small glint in his eye using the same charm that used to work on your self – or rather used to use on you before everything had gone to hell.
STOP you thought, no good will come from this, besides he is only pretending to get a cheaper bed for the night. Your suspicions confirmed when he turned back around catching your eye, the glint was gone replaced with his cold demeanour. You both followed the lady up the creaky stairs to the room that would be yours for the night. It was late and all you wanted to do was to just collapse on a bed and sleep but just like everything else, nothing was ever easy as you were both presented to a room with a single double bed. Great.
“Have a wonderful night you two” the woman cooed as she disappeared down the hall presumably back to her desk. You turned to face Conny who was burning holes into the bed.
“Stare at that any longer and you’ll set the place on fire”
“Whatever, I’ll take the floor”
Your eyes couldn’t have rolled further back into your head even if you tried.
“God, Conny you are such a pain, what good will it be if you don’t get enough sleep. The last thing I need is the plan fucking up because of me because you don’t want to share the damn bed”.
“I was being respectful” he spat, his tone covered in venom as though with each word he ever said to you was a direct hit to slowly intoxicate you until you were nothing but bones.
“Respectful?” you repeated, bringing your face a hairs width to his “are you fucking kidding me right now? RESPECTFUL?! You lost all respect for me the night Sasha died, you don’t know how to be respectful. You only know how to be a selfish asshole who not only broke my heart, but left me when I had no body! She was my friend too, Conny! I didn’t just lose her that night I lost you. You have treated me like shit ever since. So don’t give me this bull shit about respect when you don’t know the damn meaning of it!” your chest was heaving, completely breathless as you looked up at him.
“You done?”
“No, one last thing” your hand went flying towards his cheek but before it could make contact he tightly gripped your wrist pushing you harshly against the wall. You hadn’t noticed in your anger his eyes had clouded over as though pain brimming at the edges that had been locked away for the last two years.
“What did you expect me to do? I lost my best friend and I realised that I could lose you too, in any moment you could be ripped away from me”. His cracked voice filled the room, making you faintly aware that anyone could hear you but in this moment you didn’t care. You felt dizzy as neither of you yielded from each other’s stares.
“I can’t lose you, I did all of it so you would leave but you stayed” his voice now barely above a whisper.
“I never would have left” tears spilled out of both your eyes blinding you both.
“Damn it y/n why do you have to be so stubborn” before you knew what was happening his hand lifted your face to his lips as they crashed against each other. The familiarity made you melt into his touch, your body shuddering as his other hand gently wondered across your hips.
Momentarily breaking away you felt Conny mumble words against your skin.
“I’m sorry, I’m so sorry” he repeated over and over, desperation in his voice growing with each plead for forgiveness. Tired of it you force Conny to look into your eyes
“Shut up and kiss me, I don’t want to hear this right now”.
Darkness clouded over his eyes, a new shade of confidence settled upon him and he wore like it was his own skin. Conny moved his hands towards you thighs pulling you up so that your body was now pressed against him. More forcefully this time he re attached his lips to your own, slipping his tongue between your teeth earning a moan from yourself. You felt his smirk against your lips as they moulded together, in response you pulled his hair making him growl against you.
“Fuck, don’t do that y/n” he pressed himself against you as though warning you what would come if you didn’t stop, still you couldn’t help but moan at the feeling of his hard cock pressed against your heat; it ignited a fire with in you that had been smothered  and now it was consuming your very soul.
“Conny” you breathed, your voice laced in seduction as it reached his ears, his hands tightening around your muscly thighs.
“Conny please, I need you”
Immediately your back was met with cold air as Conny slammed your body onto the double bed situated in the middle of the room. The bed was a soft contrast to the harsh wall, the mattress dipping as Conny climbed over towards your body. Your lips re-joined, tongues clashing against each other unlocking a primal instinct with in the both of you as the kiss deepened and became more heated.
“God y/n, I missed this so fucking much” he breathed, his ember eyes locking with yours, taking a bit of your h/c hair with his fingers tenderly placing it behind your ear. His other hand caresses your face.
“I love your eyes”. He looks down at your swollen lips dipping his head towards them.
“I love these” he mumbled against them gently pecking them. His free hand trails down your body as though he was savouring every curve, eventually making its way to the curve of your behind. His hand gripped it tightly whilst he whispered into your ear “I especially love this”. The gesture forced a gasp out of you, not being able to control the smile that was plastered on your face.
“Conny” you whined, but it was short lived as your body filled with the overwhelming sensation of his lips dragging across the sensitive part of your neck.
“That stopped your whining” he chuckled, the vibrations sending your eyes rolling into the back of your head. Fed up with his teasing you took matters into your own hands catching him by surprise as you rolled out from under and pinned him beneath you.
“You’re taking too damn long” you said leaning down towards his lips as you rolled your hips against his hard member. Instantly Conny’s hands were digging into your hips, pushing you further onto him.
“Fuck baby” he growls, his tongue slipping into your mouth.
You tried not to laugh at the look of disappointment in his face as your lips left his, your head held upright as you continued to drag your clothed core against him. Knowing he wouldn’t last much longer before something snapped with in him, you moved off him unzipping his pants and removing his undergarments allowing his cock to be free from its tight constraints. Though you’d seen it before and had done many lustrous things to it with your mouth, it’s size never ceased to shock you. Gulping down your initial surprise, you moved your head towards the tip that was already gleaming with precum. Wanting to tease him the way he just teased you, you opted for licking the length of his shaft, your eyes never leaving his that were hooded over from the pleasure. His hands found themselves tangled between your hair strands in attempt to guide your mouth around this cock.
“Use that pretty mouth of yours will you, fuck”.
“What if I don’t” you smirked at him, your tongue still leaving wet strips along the side of his cock. Suddenly you were yanked away from his throbbing member, forced to look at him, spit and saliva dripping from your mouth.
“What did you just say” he questioned, the dominance flowing off his tongue like venom.
“You heard me” you smirked at him. Oh you were in for it, your core tingling with excitement. Conny forced you to lay over his lap, a stinging sensation spread across one of your ass cheeks. Even though you were still fully clothed, you knew that it was going to leave a mark regardless. The sensation made you sign in response leaving you greedy for more.
1, 2, 3 slaps rained down on you, with each one the heat with in you got more and more unbearable.
“You’re such a brat” he growled slamming his palm down against you one more time before grabbing your hair and forcing your mouth onto his cock. You moaned in pleasure as his member filled your mouth all the way to the back of your throat. Conny initially kept his hand there bobbing your head repeatedly against his shaft. Satisfied that you would keep going he moved both his hands and leaned them against the back of his head as he took in the sight of you, your ass in the air as you gagged your self on him. It was almost too much sending him over the edge.
“Y/n stop” he moaned almost not being able to control himself, but you took it as an incentive to push yourself deeper on his cock deep enough to set off your gag reflexes.
“Fuck! y/n I said stop!” he growled as he pulled you off him bringing his hand around your throat.
“I’m sorry” you lewdly spoke, taking your bottom lip slightly between your teeth.
“You will be. Now strip”.
You complied obediently, hyper aware of the way his eyes glazed over your body as you removed each item of clothing. The hairs stood on end over every inch of your skin, he looked at you as though you were a meal about to be devoured. Once your body was fully bare before him he let out a long breath forming in the shape of a cloud before you both, not realising how much the temperatures had dropped. Repeating your actions Conny removed the rest of his own garments and it took everything within you not to gaze at his sculptured form as he lay naked before you. You were reminded of all the times during training that Conny removed his shirt along with his comrades to cool themselves off, but you never lingered long enough for fear of getting caught. Now he was before you, you could no longer help yourself and your eyes instinctively dragged across his abdomen, his arms that were decorated in scars and veins that popped against his tan skin.
“Like what you see” he questioned you, a devilish grin plastered smugly across his face.
“Don’t be shy” he said as he shifted his body towards you. “I know you like it, you always had before, and don’t think I never noticed the times you would steal glances at me during our training y/n”.
He smirked at the deep shade of rose that was now spreading across your cheeks. You were both now kneeling on the bed, chest to chest.
“You’re so beautiful y/n” he whispered as he leaned his forehead against yours, his eyes fluttering closed, you kissed his lips in response. His hands roamed your body exploring every inch of skin before landing on your breast. The roughness of his fingers against your smooth skin drove you insane.
“Ugh Conny, you’ve teased me enough. Please” you begged, pleading him to touch you and to work on your body the way he used to.
“So impatient” he smirked against your lips, but obliged regardless. “But okay, what ever you want princess”.
With one swift movement he had you laying on your back once again, while he shifted his body off the edge of the bed. His head began trailing wet open mouth kisses against your bare legs, slowly making his way towards your core.
“I have barely touched you and you’re so fucking wet for me princess, look at you” he mocked as he lightly dragged a finger dipping slightly between your folds before removing his hands again. He watched in amusement as your body begged for more.
“So desperate”
“Can you blame me” you breathed. “Connie I swear down, do something or so help me god I will-”
“You talk too much” Conny chuckled as his tongue finally dipped between your folds. He explored you, no, he devoured you completely and you became lost in his touch. Your breathing became laboured as he continued to attack your clit. The rolling of his tongue against you drove your mind insane. Unable to do anything else, you closed your eyes to be welcomed by a rainbow of colours, stars dancing before you as a finger was inserted into you. Your hips bucked against him letting out a loud moan that filled the silence of the room
“Oh god” you exclaimed as Connny filled your walls with another digit, pushing them deep within you. The curl of his fingers inside you made you scream, one of your own hands grasping the sheets, your knuckles almost white. Conny’s tongue once again began playing with your clit while he pumped the two digits in and out of you, the over stimulation sending you places you had never been before.
“Fuck” you moaned over and over. “Conny I’m going to cum”
“Not just yet princess” he growled against you. You panicked feeing the knot coming undone as he sped up. You frantically let out a string of lewd sounds.
“I want you to come on my fingers when I say so, can you do that for me?”
“Yes!” you breathed out, your desperation growing with each passing moment.
“Say my name y/n”
“Conny”
“Again”
“CONNY!” you screamed.
“Good girl, I want you to scream my name just like that when you cum. Make sure everyone knows who you belong to. Are you going to do that baby girl?” You nodded a yes a response.
“Cum for me princess”
Finally the knot untied with in you and your body shook against his touch uncontrollably. You had been possessed by him, his touch a drug and this was the high. The feeling spread across your core, your chest up your throat until a guttural sound dripped out of your mouth in your release.
“Connie” you moaned his name over and over as you came down from the pleasure.
“Fuck that was so hot” Conny mumbled against you.
Wasting no time, Conny was above you kissing your lips, his own coated in your juices. Before he continued to do what you both yearned for her looked into your eyes, his voiced dripped in sincerity as he asked you if it was okay for him to do this.
“yes” you whispered, he nodded in response.
His next movements sent your body into another wave of pleasure as he slowly pushed himself inside of you. Each vein you could feel against your walls had you feeling greedy needing more of him inside of you. Your legs wrapped themselves around his waist bringing you both closer. Conny attached his lips to your lips as you both found your rhythm. Each thrust coming in harder than the last until the gentleness that had been present before had become completely eradicated. Conny flipped you so you were now on all fours as he inserted himself again earning a cry from you as his cock spread your walls apart making you lose your mind.
“Fuck, yes Conny just like that” you moaned loudly.
“You feel so fucking good y/n” he grunted as both of his hands came to steady himself on your hips as he drove himself further into you.
Conny lifted your body up so your back was firmly pressed against his chest as he continued to pound your walls into oblivion. One of his hands roughly grabbed your breast while the other rubbed circles around your clit. You couldn’t even put words together anymore as you felt yourself come undone under his touch for the second time.
“Don’t you dare cum until I do. We are cumming together princess” he growled harshly in to your ear. You moaned in return.
His thrusts started to become sloppier and slower burying himself deep inside you, you knew he was on the edge so you grinded against him earning a low grunt.
“Fuck y/n”.
His pace quickened on your clit in response, with one of your hands now grasping at his hair as you tried to contain yourself from orgasming.
“Now baby girl”
With that you both came undone as you felt him unload his warm substance deep within you whilst your body exploded in pleasure for the second time that night.
Both of you breathing heavily, you collapsed onto the bed in unison.
“I want you to know that I never stopped loving you y/n. What I did is unforgivable but from now on I hope I can atone my actions and show you how much you have always meant to me”.
For now you weren’t sure how to respond, you didn’t exactly want to let him off the hook, but you wanted to savour your time with him. If one thing was true it was that you could both be ripped away from each other at any given moment; so instead of saying anything you kiss him bringing your body into his as he adjusts his arms around your waist.
“We will talk about it back home, for now I want to spend this moment with you and live in ignorant bliss with you”.
You both fell asleep in each other’s arms that night, feeling okay for the first time in two years.

Denki sighed, adjusting his backpack as he trudged along the highway. It had been months since the disease had ravaged the country, a plague that no one had foreseen taking the lives of nearly every person in Japan.
He assumed he couldn’t be the only survivor, but he’d yet to see anything that told him otherwise. He didn’t even really understand how he could still be among the living if he was being honest. Denki’s life had always seemed like an accidental series of fortunate events. He got by on sheer luck. He couldn’t help but feel like he wasn’t supposed to be here.
He had tried to search for his friends with the panic hit. The chaos, the recently deceased coming back to life and hungry for humans, the whole thing seemed like something out of a terrible movie or a graphic novel turned TV show that was way too long and drawn out. The only person he’d managed to get a hold of was Sero, and their call had been cut short when the towers had gone down. And that had happened right after the entire city had lost power.
Being a pro hero, he went out into the streets to try and help, attempting to get people to safety and fighting those...things? Zombies? It felt so surreal to even say, even though he had experienced it first hand, watched as the man he saw at the convenience store around the corner from his apartment every morning full-on sprinted at the lady who always walked her Shiba Inu down to the park on Saturdays and ripped her throat out with his teeth.
Shuddering at the memory, he weaved around an abandoned car in the road, peering cautiously into the front seat to make sure that no one was hiding inside and hungry for flesh.
He kept a mental list now of things he had to do, rules he’d made for himself to keep surviving. Double-checking his surroundings was one of them. So when he heard the sound of tires on pavement, the revving of an engine from somewhere behind him, he was prepared, quick to run behind a car that was resting on its side, pressing himself against the undercarriage and listening closely.
Unless the walking dead was able to drive, he finally had an answer as to whether or not he was the last one alive. The question was, was this person going to be a friend or foe?
He heard the engine start to quiet, the sound of the vehicle slowing just beyond where he hid, and braced himself, his first unclenching as lightning coursed along his palms. He chanced a glance over the side of the car when he heard the transmission shift into park, and the sound of the truck door creaking open. What he saw nearly took his breath away.
You were standing on the road, a sawed-off shotgun in hand, your hair tied back and away from your face. Your tattered tank top was streaked in dirt and dried blood, your legs in dark jeans that were tucked into black combat boots. You were beautiful, and you were staring right at him, the gun pointed in his direction.
He ducked back down, his breathing ragged as he tried to figure out what to do now. Did he attack? Did he try to talk to you?
“Hey, Blondie! You gonna hide back there or come out and face me?”
He went rigid, eyes wide. Time to turn on the old Denki charm. He stood, breathing deeply and schooling his features, turning to face you. “Hey, sweet cheeks, what brings you to a place like this?”
You blinked at him, your mouth in a straight line, and he felt his confidence waver. “What does it look like? Just trying to survive. Are you an idiot or something?”
“Hey, no reason to be so harsh, babe. I’m just doing the same as you.” He cocked his hip out and rested his hand on it, shooting you a wink. “I was beginning to think I was alone out here.”
Your eyes drifted away from him and scanned the road, the sound of birds in the distance the only other sign of life. “You’re alone?”
“Course I am. What about you?” He didn’t dare move, trying to keep from staring down the barrel pointed at him. You were just a few feet away, and one pull on the trigger would blow him to pieces.
“There are others. I’m just on a supply run.” You were studying him, looking thoughtful. “Why aren’t you armed?”
He raised a hand, letting the electricity flow down his arm so you could see. “I’m always armed, angel.”
Rolling your eyes, you nodded. “Nice quirk.” You looked impressed, and he couldn’t help but preen a little. Your gun lowered slightly and he felt himself start to relax. “You got a name, blonde?”
“You can call me Kaminari.” He let his hand fall, chancing a step forward. “I don’t mean any harm. Like you said, I’m just trying not to die. Could you maybe put the gun down?”
“Nervous?” Smirking, you lowered the weapon, and he heaved a sigh of relief. “Alright, Kaminari. Why don’t you come with me? You hungry?”
“Starving.” He slumped a bit, finally feeling like you weren’t going to kill him. “I had some jerky for breakfast this morning but it wasn’t great.”
“Tch.” God, you sounded like Bakugou when you made that noise, and it made him miss his explosive friend. “I’ll bring you back to meet the others. If they decide they like you, maybe you could stay with us. We might be able to use that quirk of yours.” You turned back towards the truck you’d arrived in, making to get inside. “No promises, though.”
Denki hesitated for half a second. What if the others you were with didn’t like him? He knew he could be a pain in the ass sometimes. Ultimately he decided to go with you. If your group didn’t like him he could just continue on by himself.
Hurrying around the car, he shrugged off his backpack, opening the door and sliding into the passenger seat beside you. “Hey, you didn’t tell me your name, doll.”
He watched as you settled into the seat, pulling the seat belt across your chest and buckling it. Your eyes met his and you shot him a smile that made his chest tight. “It’s Y/N.”
--
The car ride back was mostly silent. He was itching to ask you things, the chatterbox in him just wanting to burst forth and talk at you for hours. It had been difficult, being alone, since he’d always been such a social butterfly. When all you had to talk to was yourself for months on end, things could get kind of boring.
However, he didn’t want to scare you off or make you think he was some kind of weirdo, so he stayed mostly silent. He did ask where you were from originally, and about the others you were with, but your answers were short and lacking in detail, and he didn’t want to pry.
“Didn’t you say you were on a supply run?” His eyes were trained on the road ahead, keeping a lookout for the lumbering undead.
“Yeah, I hit up a drug store in the next town over.” You gestured to the back seat. “Medicine and bandages, bottled water, and some canned food. We only take what we need at the moment. We never know how long we’re going to be in one place, so we try to keep it light.”
“That makes sense.” From what he gathered, your group wasn’t large. There were only about 5 of you, so he assumed it was easier for you not to have a large number of things to carry around with you.
“Yeah, we’ve found a house in an abandoned neighborhood to stay in for now. We spent a few days combing through the houses in it, and it looks like the area has been empty for a while.” Your fingers tapped on the steering wheel as you turned the car and took an exit ramp off the highway. “I’m kind of hoping we can stay for a while. It’s nice to sleep on a mattress, and it’s got running water.”
“Oh man, a shower sounds so freaking nice.” Leaning back against the seat, he glanced over at you. “It’s hard when you’re on your own, there’s no one to watch your back.” He shivered when he pictured trying to shower and being attacked by a zombie while he was butt ass naked. “Even going to the bathroom is a risk.”
Snorting, you made a right turn and scrunched your nose. “Imagine dying with your pants around your ankles?”
“My literal worst nightmare.” You both burst into a fit of giggles, and Denki felt the awkward tension in the car ease a bit.
You started pointing out landmarks and abandoned stores. “We’re thinking this was one of the first neighborhoods to evacuate when things got bad. The houses are upscale, so we think they might have been tipped off early. Kind of sucks that the rest of us weren’t prepared at all compared to them.”
Nodding, Denki agreed. “It was absolute chaos in Musutafu. I was on the streets trying to help and just watching people rip each other apart. I’ve never seen anything more terrifying in my life.”
“You’re from Musutafu? So are a few of the people in my group.”
Denki watched out the window as you turned down a side road, the remains of a gated communities’ security booth on your left. The door looked like it had been blown off its hinges, and the windows all around it had been smashed. “Did you check the whole neighborhood?”
“Yeah, we started at one end and searched through all the houses. We were mostly looking for survivors, but we didn’t find anyone.”
You followed the main road as he gazed at the abandoned mini-mansions. Tall grass swayed on every lawn, an obvious tell that it had been some time since there had been any landscaping done. Denki tried to picture what this neighborhood would have looked like before disaster struck, picturesque, with luxury cars in the driveways and well-manicured lawns, kids playing in the street, housewives lounging by their in-ground pools. It was jarring to think it would probably never look that way again.
You pulled the truck into the driveway of a large house at the end of the road, stopping in front of a closed gate. The tall fence connected to it wrapped around the property as far as he could see, and he could just make out a low man-made rock wall just beyond it, like someone had busted up giant slabs of concrete and stacked them all the way around, just to reinforce the fence. He had a feeling that was something that your group had constructed.
“Before we go in, I just want you to know, our self-proclaimed leader can be kind of a dickhead.” You moved to take off your seat belt and shot him a look. “He’s smart as fuck though and he helps protect us, so he’s not all bad. Just keep your head down and don’t provoke him and you’ll be fine.”
“Sounds like someone I used to know. I can handle it, don’t worry.” He cracked his knuckles and grinned at you. “I’m a pro at dealing with dudes like that.”
Eyes rolling, you shook your head. “It’s your funeral.” You got out of the truck and moved to the fence, using a key from your back pocket on the padlock keeping it shut. Denki unbuckled his seat belt and slid into the driver’s seat, watching as you pushed on the gate and walked it forward, clearing the way. Denki drove the truck forward far enough so that you could close the lock the gate behind you. He made to move back over but was surprised when you climbed into the passenger seat. “Just keep going up, we’ll park in the garage.”
He followed your instructions, creeping up the driveway and towards the house, his foot pressing on the break when he noticed the pathway to the garage was blocked.
“Or not.” You sighed. “Just stop here.”
Denki put the truck in park, eyebrows furrowed as he took in the scene before him. There was a car up on cinder blocks, blocking the entrance to the garage. Someone was lying underneath it, their jean-clad legs and black boots the only part of them he could see. He shut the car off and handed you the keys, sliding out of the car when you did.
“E, you’re blocking my spot.” You called, rounding the truck. “Come help me with this stuff and meet the new guy I found.”
“Sorry, Y/N. I’m trying to get this thing to run for us. I didn’t expect to still be working on it when you got back but I’m having trouble.” That voice was familiar, and Denki’s lungs seized in his chest. “Wait, did you say new guy?”
He watched as the man shuffled himself from under the car and stood, his hair long and dark, with red at the tips. Red eyes, pointy teeth. Eijirou Kirishima.
“Kiri?” Pain bloomed through his chest like his heart had stopped beating. He never thought he’d see any of his friends ever again, but here he was, one of his best bros in the entire world.
Kirishima looked up at him, a million emotions flitting across his face before it split into the blinding smile he was used to seeing on his friend’s face. “Denki?”
Denki launched himself at his friend, throwing his arms around him, relief flooding through his entire body. Kirishima picked him up, laughing and hugging him tightly. “Holy shit.” They stayed that way longer than necessary, swaying back and forth and mumbling into each other’s shoulders.
“Thought you were dead, dude. What the fuck?” Red Riot finally put him down, rubbing at his eyes and sniffling,
“I’m a bad bitch, they can’t kill me.” Chuckling wetly, he slapped his friend on the shoulder. “What, you give up on the box dye now that the world is ending?”
“I missed you, dude.” Kiri sighed, choosing to ignore the jab and reaching up to muss Denki’s hair.
“So...do you guys know each other?” Your voice broke them from their reunion.
He had almost forgotten you were standing there. Kiri seemed to be in the same boat. “Oh, yeah. Sorry, Y/N. We’ve known each other since we were 15. Went to UA together.”
“Does that mean-” You started, but Kirishima cut you off.
“Oh my god.” He turned to look at Denki and grinned, cupping his hands around his mouth and shouting towards the house. “HEY, SERO?!”
Denki knew he was going to cry for real now. His best friend was alive. The one person that he had been wishing to see this entire time was here, and Denki was going to get to see him again, all thanks to you. If he hadn’t run into you on the highway, this never would have happened. Swallowing thickly, trying to keep his emotions in check, he blinked up at Kirishima. “Sero is here?”
“Bakugou and Mina, too.” His formally red-haired friend turned towards the front door and threw an arm around Denki’s shoulders as they waited for the rest of the group to arrive. “The Bakusquad is back together.”
--
It had been so long since Denki had felt this relaxed. He’d showered and had a hot meal, and now he was lounging on a couch pressed up against Hanta Sero, his best friend. Kirishima and Bakugou were on the opposite couch, leaning against each other. Even though Bakugou had his normal stoic expression on his face, Denki knew he was happy.
Mina was at his feet, chattering on and telling you about UA, and how Denki used to go stupid when he used his quirk too much. Her story came complete with her shooting a thumbs up, crossing her eyes and crying WHEEEEYYY, which had Sero and Kirishima in tears of laughter. Bakugou even cracked a smile, and Denki kind of wanted the floor to swallow him up.
“Hey, do you need to tell her that, Mina?” He kicked his foot out, toes connecting with her back.
“Aw, are you embarrassed, Kami?” Teasing him, she poked his shin, before turning her gaze back to you. “Last I remember, our little Chargebolt here was in the top 20, so I’d say he’s got a handle on his quirk now.”
Denki felt his ears get hot, and he chanced a glance over at you, blushing even harder when you smiled at him. He’d only known you for a few hours and he was already smitten. Sure, it had been a while since he’d had any human contact, and it was hard to jerk it when you were fearing for your life at every moment. So it was only natural that he wanted to catch the attention of the prettiest girl he’d laid eyes on in months, right?
Sero pulled him up not long after, pushing him from the room and out the back sliding door. He leaned against the railing on the wooden patio, his neck craned so he could look up at the sky, and Denki settled beside him, mirroring his posture.
“I can’t believe we found you, man.”
Huffing a breath, Denki nodded. “Yeah, I know. I thought everyone I knew was dead. When we got cut off, I went out to help and figured I’d run into you, but shit was so crazy and I just...I don’t know. I wasn’t ready for that, dude. I became a hero to help people, not kill zombies. I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that I had to take their lives, even though it was clear that their humanity was gone, you know?”
Humming, Sero bumped their shoulders. “I get you. It’s fine. We all had to wrestle with that. It was hard for all of us.” Sighing, he gripped the railing and hoisted himself up to sit on it, swinging his feet. “The four of us were together, so we decided to stick that way and headed out of the city. We tried to find you, and I was looking for Shinsou too but, we didn’t want to stick around too long.”
A comfortable silence washed over the two of them before Sero continued.
“We found Y/N not long after that, holed up in a convenience store, wielding a shotgun like a champ. She’s badass.” Sero let out a low whistle. “Man, she gave Bakugou the business as soon as he opened his mouth to snark at her. I’ve never seen him shut up so fast. Even Kiri can’t get him to be quiet like that. That’s when we decided to join up with her.”
Denki snorted a laugh, leaning back on his elbows and looking at his friend. “She pointed that thing straight at me and I panicked and called her like 6 different pet names.”
“You’re lucky you’re alive, Kami. She must like you.”
--
It had been two weeks since Denki had met you on that deserted highway, and you’d reunited him with his friends. Bakugou had been talking about moving on for a few days, but the rest of the group seemed to be comfortable and happy in the house, so he hadn’t been pressing the issue much.
There hadn’t been one attack since Denki had arrived, and from what Mina had told him, they’d only seen a few of the undead since they’d found the place, so no one seemed to be too bothered by it. It still left him feeling uneasy, so used to having to be on alert at all times.
That was the least of his worries when he got to spend time with you, however.
He’d become your official partner when you went on your supply runs, under the guise of keeping you company in the truck when you ventured out into the world. He really just wanted to spend time with you and get to know you better. You had opened up to him more once you realized he was trustworthy, his friendship with the rest of the group enough to prove that to you.
The crush that he had developed on you that first day just seemed to grow more as time went on. He was in too deep, and he knew it, but he couldn’t stop himself. In any normal circumstances, you would be completely out of his league, so he knew he had to take this opportunity while it was in front of him.
He really did like you, situation aside. If he wasn’t constantly holed up with you in that house, or that truck, watching your back as you raided abandoned pharmacies and big-box stores for food and clothing and medicine, spending most of his waking moments in your company, he still would have grown fond of you in the way he had. It might have taken longer, but when every day could possibly be your last, there was no reason to pussyfoot around.
Unless your name was Denki Kaminari and you were a goddamn coward.
He was tired of hearing Mina and Sero complain that he was being a pussy, and that he should just make a move. He knew they were right, but there was this little voice in the back of his head that kept repeating the “what if’s”. What if you didn’t like him and you left the group because things got too weird? What if you did like him and he got nervous and fucked shit up? He needed to get out of his own head and just...do something.
He didn’t expect that you were going to beat him to it.
“So,” you said, one hand on the steering wheel and your other elbow leaning against the door as you drove, the window cracked enough to let the breeze blow your hair around. “Are you ever going to kiss me, or are we just going to play this waiting game forever?”
Denki choked on his own spit, sputtering and coughing. “I’m sorry, what?”
Shaking your head, you paused, and he assumed you were waiting for him to stop wheezing. “I mean, am I reading this wrong? You’re into me, right?”
Pushing his hair back from his forehead (which you had generously cut for him the day before), he chanced a glance over at you, steeling himself. ‘Well, yeah, ever since you pointed a gun at me and almost made me wet myself.”
You snorted, rolling your eyes. “Don’t be a wuss, Denki.”
“I love it when you insult me, baby.” Wiggling his eyebrows, he licked his lips. “So, what? You’ve been waiting for me?”
“Well, yeah. I mean, I didn’t want things to be weird, but I knew I couldn’t be wrong. I see the way you look at me when you think I’m not paying attention.” Biting your lip, you turned to look at him for a moment. “I’ve wanted to kiss you since you shot me finger guns and called me babe.”
Rubbing at the back of his neck nervously, he hummed. “Most of the time that scares women away. Are you sure there’s nothing wrong with you?”
“We’re all a little crazy, I guess. I think that’s why we’ve survived this long.” Your smile was contagious, and he couldn’t help but grin back, his arm moving across the center console, his hand open and palm up.
You adjusted your grip on the wheel to the other hand, reaching out with your right and letting your fingers slot between his. He squeezed your hand, his eyes fixed out the windshield as you took the familiar highway back towards the house.
The ride back was comfortably silent, your fingers intertwined the whole way. Denki’s heart was pounding against his ribcage as he tried to think of what to do or say next. You, however, had other ideas.
You turned onto the main road that led into the once gated community. He furrowed his brows, confused when you make a left down an unfamiliar street. The houses here were just as abandoned, all of their front doors marked with a spray painted red x.
“We marked them after we went through the houses, so we would remember where we’d already checked. It took us about a week to get through the entire neighborhood.” You explained, somehow knowing what he was thinking.
The road ended in a cul-de-sac, and you pulled the truck around in a circle until it was facing the exit, letting go of his hand so you could shift it into park and turn off the engine. He watched as you unbuckled your seat belt and shifted the seat back away from the steering wheel, his lungs seizing as you climbed over the center console and into his lap.
“Not that I’m complaining, but-” He hands moved to grip your waist and keep you steady as your straddled him, your knees on either side of his hips.
“I’m going to get my kiss, and I’m not going to do it in that house with the rest of those idiots around.” Your hand moved to his hip, fingers pressing the release on his seat belt. He let go of you long enough to pull the offending nylon belt off of him, the sound of the metal slapping against the door as it sprung back into place nearly startling him out of his skin.
“Yes ma’am.” Swallowing thickly, he pushed a piece of your hair away from your face and tucked it behind your ear.
The next few moments were in slow motion, eyes fluttering shut, and chests pressing together as you moved closer. His palm slid to cup the side of your neck, your head tilting slightly as your lips finally met.
It took Denki every ounce of control he had not to let his quirk discharge when he finally got to taste your lips. It was everything he’d been hoping for and more. You tasted like the Dr.Pepper you’d gotten when you’d stopped at the pharmacy, and he could smell the scent of your shampoo now that he was close enough. He was addicted almost instantly.
Your lips were soft and pillowy, and he pressed you closer, wanting more. The feel of your hands on his shoulders, nails raking down the front of his t-shirt, and the quiet moan that left you when his right hand squeezed your hip was almost his undoing, but he held on. He would take this at whatever pace you wanted. You were in control.
You pulled away, gasping for air, your nose brushing against his and breath mingling. “You okay?” It was probably a stupid question, but he had to ask. If you felt anything like he did, then you were doing just fine.
“Mmm.” His sentiments exactly. Your tongue darted out to wet your lips, a smile gracing them. “I kind of want more. Is it too soon? Maybe.”
“Well,” his voice dropped to a whisper. “I’ve been telling myself for weeks that we could all die tomorrow, and that I shouldn’t be scared and just go for it, so if that’s what you need to hear…”
“Yep, that’s what I needed.” Blinking at him and biting your lip, your hips ground down against his, the sound of his groan filling the truck. “Fuck it, right? You only live once, and all that shit.”
“Fuck, yes. Bless up, Drake.” He let his hands dip under the hem of your t-shirt, the calloused pads of his fingers sliding over your soft skin.
You sat back and ripped your shirt over your head so suddenly he wasn’t prepared for the movement, and he grabbed your waist again to steady you. “I’ve waited too damn long, Denki. Please, I need you, okay?”
Nodding, he swallowed down his nerves, wanting to show you how much he needed you, too. “You got it, princess. Whatever you want.”
“Shirt off. Pants, too.”
As hot as the moment was, the next few minutes were filled with a lot of giggling and awkward movements as you both tried to undress in the passenger seat of the truck. Denki had the advantage because he was still sitting in the seat, and he just needed to pull his pants and boxers down around his thighs.
You, on the other hand, had your ass pressed against the windshield as you pulled off your boots and tried to tug your skinny jeans down your legs. He tried to help as best he could, keeping you upright and tugging on the denim one-handed until you were able to step out of them. Black lace panties followed, and then you were back on his lap, your mouth pressed to his as your hand wrapped around his aching cock.
Breathless and still laughing, he moaned as your tongues battled for dominance, his hands roaming up and down your sides as you tugged on his hair. Warm fingers moved between the apex of your thighs, dipping through your folds, causing you to break the kiss, throwing your head back. Denki took the opportunity to mouth at your neck, teeth grazing along your skin, biting and sucking marks into your flesh. He inserted one finger inside of you, groaning as your body squeezed around the digit. You were warm and so wet, and he imagined what it would feel like, your muscles clenching down around his cock when he was buried inside of you.
He timed the thrusting of his fingers with the slow drag of your hand around his cock, your moans filling his ears as you rocked back against his hand. He inserted a second finger, scissoring them and stretching you out, taking his time to prepare you. He wanted this to be good, but with the way you felt around him, the way your body felt pressed against him, and the noises you were making, he wasn’t sure how long he was going to last.
Thumb rubbing against your clit, he added a third finger, the lewd squelching noises coming from your cunt enough to make his eyes roll back. You were chanting his name in his ear, your forehead pressed against his shoulder as your body rolled against him, your strokes losing momentum.  He couldn’t wait any longer.
Pulling his hand from you slowly, he lifted you to sit back a little, adjusting himself and guiding you back towards him. You raised up on your knees, hands on his shoulders to steady yourself, cheeks flushed and lips swollen from biting down on them. You looked so beautiful, and he thanked whoever it was that put him right here in this moment with you.
You smiled at him, and he heard your shaky intake of breath as you lined yourself up and sunk down on his cock. You moaned in tandem, your nails biting into his skin as your grip tightened, hips stilling as he bottomed out inside of you. Denki was grateful for the cracked windows because the breeze that blew through the car felt nice against his burning skin, the beads of sweat dripping down his temple turning cold, and making him shiver.
The realization that even though the windows were cracked open, there was no one around to hear the two of you. Grinning, he thought of all the ways he could make you scream once you were ready for him to move, and he couldn’t wait to hear you cry out his name.
You didn’t keep him waiting long, your cunt squeezing around him was all the indication he needed to start moving. Holding onto your hips tightly, he bucked up into you, reveling in the way you moaned, his toes curling as your hips ground down in sync with his.
Your body welcomed him in with little resistance, gripping his cock, the warm and wet slide as he plunged in and out of you making him dizzy. He focused his attention on unclasping your bra with one hand, pulling it down your arms and letting your breasts spill free from their confines, his head ducking down and his mouth immediately latching onto your hardened nipple.
Your moaning became louder, pussy clenching around him like a vice, unintelligible babbles spilling from your lips as he sucked, teeth grazing the hardened bud, his other hand massaging your other breast.
“Denki, Denki...please. Fuck, I need to come, please.”
Grunting in response, he let your nipple go with a pop, back straightening as he sat up. His fingers brushed along your cheek, turning you to face him properly, his thumb pulling on your bottom lip. “Need to come already, Y/N?”
“Yes, fuck, feels so good, Denki. Please.” Your tongue darted out to lick the pad of his thumb and he shivered again. He could feel the blood in his body traveling south, the wrecked look on your face as you bucked down against him driving him to the edge.
He used his now spit slicked thumb to rub against your clit in tight circles as he slammed into you, teeth nipping on your earlobe as he rasped in your ear. “God, fuck, come for me Y/N. Come on my cock, baby.”
Later on, he would tease you and tell you that even though you were a few blocks away, he wouldn’t be surprised if the rest of your group didn’t hear the noise you made when you reached your end. Your entire body locked up, trembling violently, the cry of his name that left your lips throwing him over the edge as well. He buried his face in your shoulder, his arms wrapping around you as his cock twitched, filling you with thick ropes of cum. It was so much that he felt it leaking out of you as you slumped together to catch your breath, even though he was still inside you.
After a while you sat back a little, peering at him with your face still flushed, tears clinging to your lashes.
“You alright?” He brushed the wetness away with his thumb, biting his lip as he gazed at you fondly.
Nodding, you pushed your hair back from your face, a small smile on your lips. “I’m great. That was perfect. God, why did you wait so long, Denki?”
Rolling his eyes, he leaned forward to kiss you softly. “Good things come to those who wait and all that, you know?”
“Okay, but you were just scared I’d reject you, weren’t you?” You pinched his arm playfully, giggling at him when he winced and rubbed at the red mark you’d left.
“Maybe, but it was worth the wait, wasn’t it?”
“You could say that.” Reaching up to pat down his mussed up hair, you fixed him with a serious look. “At least if I die tomorrow, I’ll know I was given the best dicking down I’ve ever received, and that it was from a top 20 pro hero to boot.”
“You just want me for my hero status, babe. Admit it.” He grinned, tickling your side.
“You caught me, Chargebolt. Now, let’s get cleaned up and get back before Bakugou comes looking for us and finds out we fucked in here. He’s going to be so pissed.”
“Let him be pissed.” Denki wrapped his arms around you and pulled you back to him, his lips finding yours again.
And for a few moments, he forgot that the world was ending and that the two of you could be ripped apart in seconds by hungry flesh-eating zombies
You were another accidental fortunate event that he’d stumbled into, and if that’s all that his life was meant to be full of, well, he didn’t mind it at all.

it’s been a bit since I’ve written! maybe not the best idea to post now because this is not proofread properly haha, but a prompt I spotted made me feel like continuing this snippet here.
“A thief stealing from a party. How very original.”
The thief merely smiled, tipped the ring on their finger to reveal a poison capsule. An empty poison capsule. “Thirty minutes,” they said. “Better get praying.”
“I haven’t had anything to drink.”
They shook their head, eyes glittering. “I never said praying for yourself.”
prompt from @gingerly-writing
Blackwood stiffened, but before they could summon up a question or reply, the thief melted back into the crowd of lavishly costumed guests.
Damn, they hated that thief. They had been a necessary piece in their operations for years, but recent… disagreements had put them on rather shaky ground with each other.
Was this revenge? Blackwood racked their brain for who the thief would have thought fit to poison. Who? Someone important enough that they’d thought Blackwood needed to “get praying”. Or else the thief was just being dramatic. Fuck, they’d argued several times this week already. About what?
A possibility hit Blackwood like a brutal uppercut to the jaw.
The hero. That’s who they had argued about last, when the thief had found out that Blackwood had put the hero onto the list of guests to “admit without question”.
“You’re getting too attached,” the thief had said, their words deceptively smooth and velveted. The thief never yelled, not in any of their arguments. It got under Blackwood’s skin. “It’s disgusting, how you’re always looking for them. If you don’t break this off now, they’re going to rip back the curtain on all your dealings. I won’t be here for it.”
“What is ‘this’?” Blackwood had demanded.
“You tell me,” the thief mused. “Puppy love?”
The guests on the floor swept around in graceful circles, oblivious to the twisting storm that had suddenly descended upon Blackwood. They scanned the dresses and suits in a myriad of colors, now wishing that they hadn’t decided to make the cover-up for tonight’s dealings so lavish, so over the top.
A stunning masquerade party.
Maybe they’d hoped that the hero would be impressed.
Blackwood wanted to laugh.
Maybe they’d hoped that the hero would dance with them on the floor this time.
Blackwood wanted to throw up.
A laughing couple brushed past Blackwood, startling them out of their racing thoughts. Action. They were good at this. They reached up and turned on the mic for their earpiece.
“Ballroom floor,” they said, voice cool. “Looking for a guest. Shimmering pale green high-low gown, lace sleeves. Dark brown hair in a half-up. Necklace is a silver chain, green tear-drop pendant… maybe peridot. Half-face mask, black, very plain. Report if you’ve seen.”
There was a small crackle before his employees began to report in. None of them had the hero in sight.
“Stepped outside, I think,” one of their employees said. Finally. “Not the main balcony, but through the catwalk on the north side. Could be that they were leaving early.”
Blackwood started moving, fast as they could through the shifting crowd. “How long ago?”
“Ten minutes? Fifteen? Sorry boss, I’m not certain.”
Blackwood flicked their microphone back off, and burst out into the chill night air. A delicate walkway lined the edge of this side of the mansion, twisting its way around the corner of the mansion down on its way three stories down to the ground.
The hero was nowhere in sight. Blackwood broke into a run, then skidded to a stop halfway down. Something tugged at their brain, saying not right. Up again they ran, stopping before the door at the side. The decoration hanging off the front had flipped, and that wouldn’t haven’t happened unless someone had entered and been too rough with closing the door behind them.
Their office was down the hallway behind that door.
Blackwood tried the door handle—unlocked, when it shouldn’t have been—and burst through. Down the hall, to the right… the villain skidded to a stop in the doorway of their main office, the door ajar and papers scattered across the floor.
In the center of them all, a huddled figure clad in pale, shimmering green, their gasps audible as they clutched their ribs. The hero’s gaze snapped upward at Blackwood’s arrival, and their eyes were wide and unfocused with panic?—fear?—the effects of the poison?
“No, no, no.” Blackwood rushed forward, and the hero flinched away from their outstretched arms. They barely understood what they were saying as they scooped the hero up, and staggered toward the door. “You’re okay. Please. You’re going to be okay, just stay with me—”
The hero wouldn’t survive without immediate medical attention from the best.
The best, the villain knew, came from the hero agency’s personal medical center, right at the center of their base.
Fuck.
There was no time to call an ambulance and wait for it to get here. Vortex only made it to the edge of the property before desperation overrode any caution, and the villain pulled the edges of the world in towards them, vanishing from the spot with a low rumble.
They reappeared closer to the heroes’ base, a quieter corner of the street. The pavement cracked beneath their feet as they appeared, a lamppost tilting dangerously and a few lights flickering out.
Just half a block away.
The villain sprinted, and burst through the front doors.
The receptionist at the front desk bolted to their feet with a scream.
“Doctor,” Vortex gasped. “They’re hurt. Poison. Get a doctor.”
A door slammed open, and three heroes spilled into the room.
Vortex clutched the silent hero to their chest. “Doctor. Now.”
The next minutes were a blur, then the hero was being rushed off on a stretcher down a white hallway. They lunged to follow, but a hero stepped into their path, eyes narrowed. “Explain this situation.”
Vortex looked between the three. “I...”
“Wait. You’re Keswick Blackwood, aren’t you?”
Blackwood nodded. The heroes exchanged glances, and the villain was perfectly familiar with the change of atmosphere in the room. Hostile. Suspicious. Keswick Blackwood was under investigation, and they all knew it.
“I hosted a party. I don’t know what happened. I found them unwell—I don’t know how—and I knew to rush them here.”
“Your mansion is five miles away. Why didn’t you call an ambulance?”
“Personal vehicle. Ambulance would have taken too long. Are they going to be okay?”
The heroes exchanged glances again, then the tall one—Vortex knew him, too well—spoke. “You’re detained for questioning.”
It was hard to summon the indignation of an innocent person when all Vortex could think about was whether the hero would be okay. “What—why?”
“Under suspicions that you are acting as the villain Vortex.”
“What?” Vortex snapped. “A villain?”
Option one: accept arrest. Be thrown in jail. Be stuck in there for… who knew how long.
Option two: Fight. Escape. Use their powers—and risk damage to the very building and structure that the hero was relying on to stay alive.
“I’ll need my lawyer,” Vortex said weakly, as the heroes clamped cuffs over their wrists.
They stifled a gasp as they felt their powers flicker and go out.
They stifled the urge to fight as the heroes escorted them through their base and to a cell that was too secure for anyone normal.
They hid fear behind shock and indignation as their wrists were shackled up against the wall, and their ankles too.
The door slammed closed.

Father! Garmadon & Reader: The Day I Died
-kinda inspired by the movie ‘A Better Tomorrow’ [it’s on Youtube if you wanna watch it] and my own experiences
Summary: A few months after the Overlord’s ‘demise’ he returns and you find yourself feeling hopeless. Thankfully, Garmadon has your back this time and you aren’t alone.
NOTE: SAME TIME-LINE AS LIAR, SO YOU ARE THE GREEN NINJA INSTEAD OF LLOYD
Liar Part 1
Liar Part 2
Your mother was an amazing person. Sure, she left you and Lloyd when you were incredibly young, but only because she wanted to stop the final battle from ever happening to save you both from the pain of fighting your father in a showdown to the death. She may have left you, but she came back and tried to make it up to you even if it felt...odd to have a mother back after being alone for so long.
Your father was a different story. He was the imbalance that tipped Ninjago off its feet, the reason why you defied Destiny to become the Green Ninja, and the cause for all your suffering. He was evil, and sometimes, you wished he weren’t your father.
Despite the venom running through his veins being vanquished, he hadn’t dared show his face around you ever again. According the rare passerbyers you conversed with, he had set up his own ‘lovely and successful dojo’ a few hours away from Wu’s Academy (you thought that was a dumb name).
You weren’t sure if you wanted to be confused by how the former dark lord of evil could somehow attract people to his dojo or angry that he never bothered to visit. He knew where you were because your mum told you she talked to him a week ago. You didn’t know where he was because, well, how the heck were you supposed to locate your ex-adversary’s dojo in the middle of nowhere?
So where in Ninjago was Garmadon? You decided to wait and see if he’d decide to show up sometime before you perished of old age, but he never did. A few days passed, then a week, then another and another and another. You waited, hoping that maybe, just maybe, he might decide to show up and tell you he was sorry for being absent for ten and up years of your life, but why should you expect anything when your whole life had been a let-down?
Being the Green and Golden ninja practically meant holding up the sky. You had duties, a reputation, and an incompetent family to care for. Not only that, but being a teacher at Wu’s Academy meant wasting your life away in a classroom grading paperwork. Before that, you sacrificed yourself to defy Destiny and save Lloyd from all the trauma and heartache you currently dealt with, and even way before that, you were his stand-in parent for your absent father and mother. You were done wasting your thoughts on the false hope that you’d get what all your students had--a family with parents who were actually there for you.
“(Y/n)!”
That broke you from your thoughts. You turned in your chair to face Lloyd, pausing for a second to blink. It was still odd to see him so tall since he magically aged up, so it took a second for you to adjust to what you thought you’d see. “Do you need something?” you inquired. Lloyd shoved a gi in your arms. “Put that on and hurry. We need to go, like now!”
“Now? But the others? Are they still on that field trip or--?” Lloyd slammed the classroom door shut. “I’ll explain later, just hurry up!”
“Okay, okay!”
As soon as you’d finished changing, Lloyd took you by the hand and ripped open one of the windows. “We’re gonna have to jump.” He broke into a sprint, but you yanked him away from the window. “What do you think you’re doing?! We’re on the top floor!” He yanked you towards the window with a strength you didn’t know he even possessed.
“STOP LLOYD!” you shouted. “I SAID STO--!”
“Don’t use your elemental dragon!” he interjected. You were suddenly free-falling, clinging onto your brother like he were a stuffed animal. Oh, this was it wasn’t it? You’d die here, falling through a window as Lloyd reassured you you’d ‘be okay’. You screwed your eyes shut and wrapped your arms around Lloyd to break the fall, all the while preparing the goodbye speech you’d announce once you were dead.
The landing came, but the impact was softer than you expected. Lloyd let out a light chuckle as you opened your eyes and took in the sight of the Ultra Sonic Raider.
“Oh.”
He snickered at you, wiggling out of your tight embrace and climbing in a separate compartment. You settled into the familiar leather, strapping in and closing the hatch as Lloyd revved up the engine. He closed his own hatch, and just as you were about to ask him about what the heck was happening, he slammed the petal to the metal. You yelped as your head hit the back of your chair, gripping onto your seat belt for dear life. “Lloyd, you’re going over the speed limit!”
“Well I’m sorry I can’t abide by the law when we’re about to die!” he sarcastically exclaimed. “The Overlord’s back, and he’s after our power!”
Your eyes widened. The Overlord was back? That couldn’t be. You saw him die--he vanished into nothing, leaving only your father behind and nothing more. Not only that, but what did Lloyd mean by ‘we’? He didn’t have elemental powers. You took his place so he could be how you liked it: safe.
“What do you mean ‘our power’?” you grimly inquired. Despite taking the role as the Green Ninja, you knew that in theory it was possible Lloyd also inherited the same power you possessed since you were both A, siblings, and B, descendants of the First Spinjitzu Master. If he truly did inherit elemental powers, then all your hard work would have been for naught.
That was a scary thought.
“I,” Lloyd paused, heaving in a deep breath, “I have Golden Power.” Your heart stopped.
Golden Power.
Lloyd had Golden Power.
How were you supposed to keep him safe now?
You had the sudden urge to scream or do anything to let those in Cloud Kingdom know that you wanted to take the burden to your grave so Lloyd could have a better life than you. The burden would be miserable for you, but that was how you wanted it. Lloyd wasn’t supposed to share your burden, and you feared if he’d become as bitter as you. A sorrowful sigh left your lips as Lloyd frowned.
“There was a falling street lamp and Jay would’ve been crushed if I didn’t step in.” he said. “I don’t really know how I did, but there was this golden glow around my hands and then it hit the pole and made it explode. I’m sorry sis, are you mad at me?” His voice was softer than the time he apologised for spilling juice all over your favourite book. You shook your head, running a hand through your hair. “Lloyd,” you began, “I’m not mad, I just--I just wish I could have done more. Maybe if I...or...I could have....”
You gave up on trying to formulate a cohesive sentence, taking to shaking your head again. “I’m sorry Lloyd.” He huffed from the driver’s seat. “It’s not your fault that this happened. Maybe it was meant to be so that you wouldn’t have to deal with everything on your own.”
“Lloyd--”
“So what you’re my older sister? So what you’re supposed to take care of me? You’re always doing that no matter what it is, risking your life, your health, your freedom, your everything. You always forget that you’re still human even though you’re doing this and that.”
You sighed. “Lloyd, that’s because I have to. It’s my responsibility and--”
“So?” His voice shook. “I don’t want to be your responsibility anymore! You think I don’t see you stay up all night writing out how much you hate being the Green Ninja so no one has to hear you complain? You think I don’t see how much you keep giving until you’re left with nothing? The only reason why you hate dad is because you blame him for everything you’ve done.”
“I don’t blame him for my misfortune.” you icily retorted. “But it’s his fault for leaving. And because he left us, I wanted to make sure you grew up happy even without him and mom. I give so you don’t have to go through what I went through, but now look what’s happened. Destiny has been cruel and you’re the Golden Ninja just like me.”
The rest of the ride continued in silence, something you were unused to around your brother. He was a chatterbox and loved to talk about the latest issues of Starfarer, or the newest video games, but this time, his lips were sewn shut. He didn’t utter a word, and when you asked if he was heading back to the Bounty, he remained silent.
“Lloyd,” you gently said, “just tell me where we’re going.”
His grip on the steering seemed to tighten, a sign that he was nervous. “You’re gonna get mad if I tell you.” You huffed, crossing your arms and frowning. “I don’t have a reason to be angry because you haven’t told me yet.”
Another pause.
“You’re not gonna like this, but we have to stay here and lie low. The nindroids--they’re the guys who attacked us in the city--won’t be able to find us here.” He rounded a bend and stopped the vehicle. You opened the hatch and climbed out as Lloyd turned off the Ultra Sonic Raider. He followed after you, an apologetic look on his face as you made your way up a hill.
No explanation was needed; you knew exactly where you were. The only question that stayed in your mind was, ‘why?’. There could have been a hundred other locations to hide so much harder to find than here, yet the ninja just had to choose the one place you swore to never set foot in: your father’s dojo. Being in the same building as him was something you silently said you’d never do after waiting for him to visit you for months on end.
He was supposed to take initiative because he was your father, especially after everything he did.
You had the sudden urge to weep as Lloyd took you by the arm and dragged you along. Maybe you could wait outside for everyone, or sneak away to some remote village where you could go into hiding alone. As long as it was anywhere but here, you were fine.
Along the way, you passed Zane and gave him a wave. He smiled kindly as he always did, juggling the objects in his hands. “Did you run into any trouble along the way?” he inquired. Lloyd shook his head. “No, but I’m glad we didn’t because I don’t think I’m that good at driving yet.” You were about to interrupt and tell Lloyd you were staying out here, but he suddenly yanked you away from Zane and further up the hill. There was a beautiful waterfall behind the dojo that made you wonder how your father found such a serene place, but that thought left your mind as you stopped at the front doors.
You sucked in a sharp breath as Lloyd took your hand, giving it a good squeeze before sliding open the doors. Soft, yellow light flooded the darkness, drowning out the stars and moon. Your father stood in the middle of the serene room, staff in hand as he lectured the class. Kai and the others waved frantically from where they sat as Nya whispered for them to shut their faces. Your father followed their pointing and waving, raising a brow inquisitively until his gaze met yours.
“Ah,” he warmly said, “if it isn’t my daughter and son, so glad you could join us.” You curtly nodded while Lloyd broke into a full-on grin. “Dad! It’s great to see you again.” He smiled in return, motioning for you both to come in. “It’s wonderful to see you both as well. Take a seat wherever you’d like, the lesson was just about to start.” You closed the door behind you as Lloyd gladly made his way inside. You followed after him, taking in every bit of your surroundings as you could.
Jay motioned for you to take a seat on the floor between him and Cole. You swiftly sat down as Lloyd settled next to Kai. “Did you guys run into trouble?” whispered Jay. “We’ve been here way before class started!” Your father made his way around the room and sent Jay a look. “Silence!” He bonked him on the head, but not enough to injure your poor friend. You frowned, sending your father a disapproving look. He didn’t see it though since his back was turned.
“Close your mouth, and open your ears. Tonight’s lesson is the Art of the Silent Fist, to fight without fighting.” He turned to face everyone again. “May I have a volunteer?” The walls were suddenly real interesting for everyone, and you couldn’t blame them.
“(Y/n) would like to volunteer as tribute!” Lloyd piped up. Your jaw dropped and you looked over Jay’s shoulder with wide eyes. “No I--”
“The Ultimate Battle, round two!” he exclaimed. You sat there for a moment until you realised there was no getting out of it, so with a roll of your eyes, you stood, making your way to the middle of the room. Your father still had a warm smile on his face, but you didn’t return it. “Attack me,” he said, “but please, no powers, I happen to like my monastery.” There was a collection of giggles and snorts from his students that set you a bit on edge.
You rolled your eyes and threw a swift punch, aiming straight for his face. At the last second, Garmadon dodged and you ran straight into a wall. “You see?” he said. “The key is balance.” He set his staff on the ground to stand on its own before holding it again. “Let your opponent fight himself.” You gritted your teeth, this time throwing a roundhouse kick and then an uppercut. He dodged, and dodged, and dodged again. As you threw another punch, he yawned and that made you angry.
You threw a punch first, then a kick, and finally another kick, but he kept dodging. Heaving in a deep breath, you ran towards him, readying a kick to put this so-called ‘lesson’ to a close. At the last second, Garmadon bent over, taking your arm and tossing you over his shoulder like a sack of flour.
The world spun and you let out a groan. “Oh, (Y/n)...” mumbled Kai with a face-palm. The others followed, shaking their heads as you ran a hand over your forehead. “Pupils,” said your father, “I present to you the greatest ninja in all the land, the Golden Ninja.” There was a chorus of laughter that made your chest burn. You didn’t deserve that, or this, or the embarrassment leaking onto your face as you hauled your tired limbs off the floor. Nothing could have been worse than humiliation by the man you loathed.
Suddenly, you found yourself on that unforgiving sandy beach. You were on the Dark Island, preparing to prematurely confront your father before anymore harm could be done to you and the world. You couldn’t wait any longer, and so you had stepped in his way like an annoying fly that wouldn’t leave. You were going to end the imbalance once and for all.
“Easy, easy dear.”
You blinked away the haze from your eyes, the familiar voice grounding you in the present. Your hands were balled into fists and green light danced across your fingertips. When had your powers activated? You didn’t remember doing that.
“It’s only a lesson.” your father said. His voice was gentle, and there was a gleam in his eyes that made you falter for a fraction of a second. You saw regret on his face, but you weren’t about to stick around to confirm your observations. Your arms dropped to your sides and you let out a curt sigh. “Sorry.” Your tone was harsher than you wanted it to be. “Force of habit." You saw the ninja and Nya frown. "I think I’ll excuse myself from the lesson.” You respectfully bowed and silently made your way out the door, ignoring the calls of your friends.
The chirping crickets and gentle breezes of night helped ease the emotional pain building in your heart. You took a seat at the bottom of the stairs and placed your head in your hands. For a while, it was only you and mother nature savouring each other's presence. It left a lot of breathing room for you to think, so you did and reflected.
"May I ask why you are out here alone?" You met Zane's familiar eyes with a weak smile. "Hi Zane." He eyed the spot next to you. "May I?" You nodded and he sat down, adjusting his grip on the golden objects he tightly held. "What are those?"
"The Techno Blades gifted to us by Cyrus Borg before we were attacked. They can hack the system of a corrupted computer and are currently our only hope to defeating the Overlord." You nodded in understanding, allowing your shoulders to droop just a bit. "I can't believe he's back, it felt like only yesterday I defeated him."
"At times, one can forget to count the days." he softly said. You smiled as he scanned your face, taking in every single detail that cracked through your smile.
"What bothers you?"
You fiddled with your hands and shrugged. “It’s nothing, just...”
“Your father?” You nodded and Zane scooted closer to you. “It is only logical you are unused to his presence. You have been separated since you were very young, so it will take time to allow him into your heart again.”
You sat there in silence for a while, nodding in understanding as he offered a reassuring smile. The door of the dojo suddenly opened and Zane looked past your shoulder. He stood, taking the techno blades with him. “I will take my leave now.” You watched as he disappeared down the hill, sighing at the empty space by your side.
“Hello (Y/n).”
You jumped to your feet, balling your hands into fists like you were about to sock someone in the jaw. Your father closed the door behind and made his way down the steps as you relaxed your pose. “It’s just you.” you sighed out. Garmadon nodded. “Just me.” he confirmed. “About earlier--”
“It’s fine.” You turned your back to him, crossing your arms to hug yourself with an uncomfortable frown. He made his way down the stairs, taking a seat on the steps as you plopped down as far away as six feet could take you.
"The sky is quite beautiful tonight." You turned to Garmadon, raising a brow with a look of distaste as he kept his gaze focused on the stars. "When you were younger, you used to sit by your window every night," he smiled to himself. "You refused to go to bed because you were afraid of offending the stars amd moon."
You frowned, picking at a loose thread on your gi. "You remember that?" you quietly mumbled. He nodded, turning to face you with a sad smile. "Of course I do. How could I forget when that was your favourite pass time?" He paused, releasing a long sigh that really spoke of his age. "I know I have caused you and Lloyd so much suffering--something I wish I could reverse--but dwelling on the past won't change anything."
Dwelling on the past won't change anything? Now where have you heard that one? A bitter chuckle rattled past your lips. "Yeah, it's not like I spent everyday wishing you were there to give me the love and support I need. And it's not like I lost my childhood to take care of Lloyd and find a job when I was only fourteen and a half. I totally understand why it's best not to dwell on the past, but it's kinda hard when it's the reason why I'm who I am today."
You kicked at the ground absentmindedly, again avoiding the gaze of your father as if it were fire. "I don't understand why you're always absent. Even after the Final Battle, I've never seen you until now. At least mom stops by and drops something off, or sends post cards and photos of where she's been. She tells me she's missed me and writes letters, but you? I never hear anything--I've always heard nothing. Do you...do you even care?"
He sent you a heartfelt glance, but you ignored it, throwing a hand out to make a point.
"I probably shouldn't have expected anything because I'm always let down anyway. You've never seen this cartoon or movie? Well, course not, because I never had the luxury to sit down and take a break. How are your parents doing, are they coming to the school conference? Course not!" Your shoulders tensed and your breaths became shorter as anger finally took a hold of your heart. "One's been turned into an evil lord and the other's disappeared to find a way to stop a prophecy that could either make or break Ninjago from becoming a land of darkness! You know, I always dreamed of having a perfect, whole family, but that's never gonna happen, not when mum's always gone and you never, ever show up!"
You began walking down the last steps of the stairs, voice cracking as you continued. "I can't believe I began to hope something would change. How...how foolish of me."
You waited for Garmadon to say something, or anything really. Even if it was an insult, a scolding, or a yell, you would take it because then at least you'd remember how it felt like to have a parent tell you what was 'right' or 'wrong'.
Instead of shouting, he sighed.
"(Y/n)," he softly said, "there are three things I've been wanting to tell you for ages, but no matter how long I thought it over, I never found the right words until now." He paused and you kept your back facing him. "You have done all you could to protect Lloyd by defying Destiny to take his place. You became the Green Ninja to fight me and restore balance, then the Golden Ninja to defeat the Overlord and I combined. But now that Lloyd has begun to realise his powers, even you know that you cannot hold his hand much longer."
There was another pause that made your loud mind go insane. Why did he suddenly stop talking? Why had he gone quiet? Was he only saying this to make you feel bad for him?
You licked your chapped lips, clenching a fist. "Well? What's the third thing you wanted to say?"
"I am very proud of you."
Your heart seemed to weigh a ton as it sank in your chest and made your fingers go numb. You suddenly whipped around, marching back up the stairs with a look of disbelief on your face. "'I am very proud of you'?" you demanded. "You're just saying that! How can you be proud of a failure?" You placed a hand on your chest, giving it a good pat to throw your point across.
"I've...I've suffered and had to be a stand-in parent for Lloyd--heck, I even infiltrated Darkley's and pretended to be a boy just to w-watch over him!" You cursed your voice for cracking as you continued. "I hate you. I hate you for making me like this--for taking away my childhood and giving me all these burdens I can't carry! Everyday, I wondered if I was ever going to be able to save Ninjago when I knew I couldn't save myself. I've died a thousand times just to be who I am today, and I'm--" Tears streamed down your cheeks as you threw a hand over your face to hide your tears. "I--I can't..." You sniffled. "Where were you when I needed you dad?! When everyone else had someone, why did you...why did you leave me?" There was a moment of silence as you sniffled before warm arms were around your shoulders and hugging you tight.
"I wasn't there." admitted Garmadon. "I know I wasn't there when I should have been, even when I wanted to make it up to you. The truth is, I wasn't being responsible. I knew you would reject me, so I was a coward and feared the consequences of my actions." He hugged you tighter. "I love you (Y/n). I love you and Lloyd so much and I am more sorry for everything I've done than I can put into words."
And so you stood there in his arms, sobbing as he simply hugged you tighter. You didn't say anything, and maybe that was because you couldn't, so your father took the first step and released you from his arms, keeping a gentle hand on your shoulder. There were a few tears in the corners of his eyes but he smiled despite that. "It's almost dinner time. Why don't we head back inside?"
"Okay."

The Left Hand Path: Three Years Ago
aka the One In Which Genji and Zenyatta meet.
The Standing Stones of Santa Ana Pueblo
Location: Just above the Red Line off I-25 N/Old New Mexico Route 68 N, Sandoval County north of the Albuquerque Military Exclusion Area.
Before the Crisis, Santa Ana Pueblo was a thriving Tamayame reservation, part of the Greater Albuquerque Metropolitan area, and a major tourist draw in the region owing to its world-class golf courses and club, a well-regarded spa resort, a casino and Michelin-starred restaurant, and a multitude of easily accessible cultural sites and events spread throughout the year. All of that changed on the afternoon of August 13, 2046 when Omnic forces advancing on Albuquerque breached the containment cordon along Route 40 and the US military, massed there to stop them, unleashed experimental high energy weaponry designed for that task.
Once the dust settled, the city of Albuquerque and much of the surrounding area, including the Sandia and Santa Ana Pueblos, was almost completely leveled. In the aftermath, the military cordoned off the ruins of the city inside the Albuquerque Military Exclusion Area, which remains under heavily patrolled Federal military control to this day. Evacuees from the surrounding area were strongly encouraged not to return, with offers to purchase their land at pre-Crisis market value to sweeten the deal. Many accepted, a handful did not, and those that chose to do so returned to a pueblo whose buildings were reduced to rubble and scattered with wreckage -- and something weird that was neither.
The Standing Stones of Santa Ana Pueblo occupy a relatively compact chunk of land on the grounds of what was once Santa Ana Golf Club, shielded from casual view by a stand of cottonwood trees that somehow survived the explosions that leveled the clubhouse and most of the other course structures and did significant damage to the surrounding area. There are nine of them, standing in a geometrically perfect circle, varying in size from from well over six feet to a little over five, perfectly hexagonal in shape, crafted of a dark stone that at least superficially resembles basalt. The inner surface of each stone is densely carved with petroglyphs incised deeply into the rock. The outer surface of each stone is carved with one petroglyph unique to that stone and which cannot be found on any of the others, inside or out. Local experts on Native American petroglyphs continue to research this topic but, as of this writing, none of the petroglyphs that appear on the Standing Stones resemble any glyphs that appear on historical sites in the region.
Nor were the Standing Stones a feature of the area before the Omnic Crisis, as confirmed by surviving photos and video of the course and local residents of the area, including the former owners of the golf club. At some point after the evacuation of Santa Ana Pueblo, the Standing Stones appeared in their current location, unnoticed by anyone despite the heavy military presence and regular patrols of the area, and despite the amount of effort such a project would entail. The stones, though tall and relatively slender, are still estimated to weigh several hundred pounds each -- not something that could be loaded, unloaded, and placed by a single person working by hand alone.
The hundred or so families who make Santa Ana Pueblo their home give the Standing Stones a wide berth, citing weirdly colored lights that appear close to the ground around them and occasionally in the sky above, strange disembodied sounds, and a deep thrumming hum that periodically rises from the area. These phenomena have appeared on official reports from area law enforcement and also on official notices issued from the Albuquerque Exclusion Area’s patrol base. Perhaps coincidentally, perhaps not, most of these phenomena have been observed around the anniversary of the Battle of Albuquerque on August 13th.
If you want to try to catch the weirdness in action, make certain you’re prepared to handle high desert summer weather and get your permissions in order accordingly. The former grounds of Santa Ana Golf Course are private property posted against trespass and the area is periodically patrolled by both the US military and tribal coalition police.
“Tonight’s the night, everybody. August the thirteenth. The anniversary of the Battle of Albuquerque. It’s taken months to get my uncle to trust me enough to go out on perimeter patrol but this is our pay off.” Cody Peshlakai lowered his voice, dramatically, because there was no real danger of being heard, to hype up the audience watching his live HollaGram stream. “Tonight I will investigate the Standing Stones and tonight you will be with me.”
He flashed a grin and a V-for-victory sign into his camera then clipped it to the stabilizer harness strapped around his shoulders and across his chest, one more piece of survival equipment among the molle pouches carrying the rest of his gear, no different from anyone else’s. It sat there, neatly hidden next to his cellphone and the primitive walkie talkie his uncle insisted the security crews carry, through the team muster and meeting at the pueblo ranger station, broadcasting all the while. Nobody objected when he called dibs on one of the spiffy little hybrid hover/wheels ATVs, a good chunk of the all-volunteer patrol crew being old enough to value the superior shock absorption of the service’s Jeeps and trucks. The ATV yielded a much better POV for the viewers as he jetted out across the scrubby desert hardpack on the eastern bank of the Rio Grande toward his goal: the grounds of the former Santa Ana Pueblo Golf Club.
Which was, unfortunately, on the western side of the Rio Grande.
On the way, he passed clusters of habitation: the small, self-contained farmsteads of single families, an artist’s commune, the little solar farm that served the area and its caretaker’s hacienda. He paused at each and exchanged a few words with the residents, radioed a handful of coyote sightings back to base, and continued on, the excitement churning higher and higher in his gut the closer he came to his goal, as his numbers climbed on his viewership monitor.
“So, yeah, that’s my job, stream -- I help keep my community, my friends and neighbors, safe. Sometimes that’s chasing off coyotes that are getting a little too comfortable raiding the compost bins but sometimes...sometimes it’s a lot weirder.” The remains of the old Highway 550 bridge loomed out of the twilight, crumbling concrete pilings jutting out of the shallowest, siltiest part of the river and he pulled to a halt, executing a slow pan to give the stream the best view possible. “On the other side of the river and a few miles west is what’s left of the Santa Ana Pueblo Golf Club. It used to be a world-class course, fancy-ass hotel and casino inclusive, made a lot of jobs and money for the community. All that, of course, came to an end during the Omnic Crisis.”
He revved the motivator, fired up the hoverpods to their highest yield, and skimmed across the surface of the river and up the opposite bank. A vista of devastation, stained in shades of sunset and shadow, spread out before them and the stream chat went absolutely wild. The residential neighborhoods south of 550 had been utterly flattened during the Battle of Albuquerque, hardly a brick left stacked or a wall left standing, blown all-but-flat by some incomprehensibly massive force. That, combined with the occasional blast crater and random scattering of unexploded ordnance, had discouraged resettlement so thoroughly nobody even wanted to risk putting up a solar farm. Wreckage still lay scattered as far as the eye could see and the eye could see quite a distance, even with twenty-plus years of desert scrub overgrowth blurring the harshest edges.
“Nobody really knows what happened here that day -- August thirteenth, the Battle of Albuquerque,” Cody narrated as he kicked the ATV back into motion, navigating carefully down the cracked and pitted remnants of 550 toward his goal. “Just about everybody was evacuated and the ones that stayed behind...well. Let’s just say that, when all was said and done, there wasn’t anyone left to tell the tale.”
The bombed-out, burned-out remnants of the old hotel-casino came into view, its parking lot still filled with the rusting hulks of abandoned vehicles. “The casino and golf course were used as a rallying and evacuation point for the nearby communities on the west bank of the Rio Grande in the days leading up to the battle. The US Army and local militia forces were massing along I-40 -- the Red Line -- and the Air Force and Air National Guard were flying refugees out by helo, the National Guard had commandeered every bus, van, and free personnel carrier they could get their hands on to get people out of harm’s way. This entire area was an absolute hive of activity, you can find video of it all over the internet.”
He paused long enough to link some of his favorites in the chat as he turned off the main road, easing the ATV along something that was once a paved maintenance access point, running roughly parallel with the river. He hit the first scraggly bits of “green,” grass genetically engineered to survive the heat and dry of a high desert summer, a few minutes later and he pulled up onto the flat, opened up his holomap, and pinged his location for the audience. “I’m here -- just south of the lower water trap which is, at this point, completely dry. Our objective is...here.” He touched the copse of cottonwood trees a mile and a half to the north. “The Standing Stones. No one knows how they got here -- they weren’t here before the battle and they weren’t here during the evacuation. But when the recovery teams swept through to see what, if anything, had survived...there they were.”
He gunned the motivator, turned the headlights up to maximum, and muted the call trying to come in from his uncle, likely demanding where the Hell he was. Oh, he was getting fired for this. So very, very fired. But very soon that wouldn’t matter, because after tonight his career was going elsewhere.
The stream picked up every jounce and bounce as he skimmed over ruts and bits of wreckage flung miles from their origins, swerved around scrub becoming less and less scrubby as he went and the wild descendants of decorative plants that had somehow survived despite it all. The cottonwood stand was still the tallest thing around and he slowed as it came into view. “My plan is to set up motion-activated cameras in a perimeter around the Standing Stones and several inside the circle of the Stones, as well, along with a super-sensitive microphone pickup and electromagnetic monitoring equipment. If something happens tonight, we’ll see and hear it.”
He stopped as the ATV’s headlights washed over the trees and struck glints from the Standing Stones themselves, dark stone reflecting darkly -- and more. Cody froze, still straddling his seat. “Oh, fuck -- there’s someone else in there --”
Cody killed the headlights and the motivator and rolled off the ATV into the relative cover of the underbrush in one smoothish and only mildly panicked motion. He even managed to avoid squeaking too much as he whispered, “Chat, did you see that? Did anyone else see that?!”
Yes!
Me, too!
I saw it -- it was TALL
Dozens of messages bubbled up in the chat as his audience scrolled back and scrutinized every frame for him. For his part, he dug his brand new Panopticon binoculars out of gear bag, clipped them into place on his tactical visor, and tried to get a better look of his own, zooming in on the Standing Stones so closely he could clearly see the petroglyphs incised into their surfaces, even with the last of the light bleeding out of the sky behind them. None of the grainy-green of old school low light optics with these babies, and he scanned the area and slow and careful, looking for some hint of what he saw, something, anything --
A flicker of motion caught his eye, something moving among the Stones, mostly obscured by their mass.
“Fuck.” This...was not a complication he had considered, much less prepared for. This whole area in general and the Standing Stones very much in specific were so far out of bounds that he never imagined encountering another person out here at all much less…
On the night of the anniversary of the battle of Albuquerque.
He had to physically resist the urge to facepalm. “Chat, I...think I know what this is.” He crawled back out of the brush and hunkered down next to the ATV, tried to get a better angle on the inside of the circle. “You know how every year there’s a remembrance ceremony at the big Crisis Memorial up in Santa Fe? Well...what if I told you that some people come down to the pueblo for their own private remembrances, too? It’s the anniversary, after all. Let me see if --”
A shriek of audio distortion drilled his ear with the enthusiasm of an icepick straight to the brain and it was all he could do not to howl as he clawed his audio pickup out. “Holy fuck, what was that?”
The chat, in the corner of the heads-up display on his visor, was losing its entire fucking mind -- whatever it was, they had heard it, too, and --
A second pulse of sound, deep and resonant, punched him in the chest hard enough to make both his heart and breathing stutter, and the chat went absolutely apeshit again as it fed through to them, as well.
“You know what, Chat,” Cody said, as soon as he got enough breath back to speak, “I think I’m going to take your advice and get the Hell --”
Golden light blossomed inside the circle of the Standing Stones -- for an instant, to his eyes, it looked as though the petroglyphs themselves were lighting up, searing their patterns into his retinas with a single unwary glance. He reeled back and looked away as he clawed both the tac visor and the binoculars off his face, blinking afterimages out of his vision, the light washing out of the stone circle, over him, over everything, and --
Calm flowed over him, over him and through him, a wave of perfect serenity that stole away all his fear between one breath and the next, left him wobbling on legs made of rubber, legs that folded up underneath him and left him sprawled on his back, eyes and camera both pointed at the swiftly darkening sky, hazed in golden light. He could hear the pinging of his stream’s chat freaking out a few physical inches and a couple thousand conceptual realities away, but couldn’t bring himself to care. That sweet golden light was all he knew and that majestic bone-deep music, and he allowed himself to drift away on it, blinking away like a pinched-out candle between one breath and the next.
It was some time later that the rescue team found him, sprawled out next to the ATV, boneless, blissed out and drooling. But not, as they feared, dead.
“I told you this little moron was up to something,” Julia Tso nudged him in the ribs with the tip of one hiking boot. “He’s been streaming crap on HollaGram for months, Joseph.”
“Yeah, I know.” Joseph Peshlakai sighed and signaled the medical evac team to come in from the road. “Keep an eye on him until they get here, yeah?”
Julia rolled her eyes but nodded and Joseph crossed the remaining distance to the Standing Stones, where a golden light still pulsed among them, within them, the petroglyphs alight. He stopped outside, cleared his throat, and said, “Thank you for not killing him, Wanderer. He’s an idiot but he’s my kid brother’s favorite child.”
Youth and folly are not offenses punishable by death, my old friend. The voice echoed in his mind, warm and amused, but not less awesome because of it. Thank you, as always, for watching over them in my absence.
“My honor, Wanderer. I’m honestly a little surprised to see you this soon. It’s only been, what, five years?” Five years to the day, Joseph thought but did not say.
Yes. I...think I will be staying for a time. Not here. But close. I feel...A frisson of unease passed between them, mind to mind, a chill crawling down his spine. I feel that I will be needed, sooner rather than later.
Joseph took a deep, steadying breath and nodded. “Things have been...a little stranger than usual, I will admit. It will be good to have you back, even if only for a time.”
It will be good to be home. Farewell for now, old friend.
The golden light blinked out, and Joseph knew he was alone. The Stones faded more slowly at his back, as he walked back down the shallow rise to his lieutenant and his idiot nephew and the knowledge growing in his mind that things were going to get worse before they got better.

Dog of the Military- Chapter 31
Chapter 31- Shopping
"Can we go to the High Market?" Ed asked hopefully as he bounced into the passenger seat of Roy's car.
"Brother. That place is crawling with sketchy people." Al admonished from where he was settling into the entire backseat of the car.
"We aren't going anywhere until you two put on your seatbelts." Roy admonished, shooting a glance over at both boys witheringly.
There was clanking from the backseat as Alphonse hurried to comply.
Ed blew out a breath and rolled his eyes.
"I don't see why I gotta wear a seat belt. My automail can't be broken. And Al's a suit of armor- nothing can hurt him!"
"No, but Alphonse could hurt us. If there was a crash and Al were to get thrown forward, we could be hurt. And you might have automail, Ed, but you're not invincible."
Ed crossed his arms. "It's stupid. Don't tell me what to do."
"Oh, so you think I'm being bossy, huh?" Roy asked.
"Ed, just put it on." Al piped up from the backseat. There was a click. Al was too large to fit the middle seat seat belt, so he had taken 2 seat belts from either side of the backseat and fastened them both over himself in an x-like fashion.
"I'm tired of old people trying to tell us what to do, Al!" Ed protested.
"It's for your own good, you know." Roy supplied patiently. "Seatbelts reduce the risk of death by 45% and cut the risk of serious injury to 50%(1). They also hold you in place so you don't get ejected in a crash. 3 of 4 people who get ejected from a vehicle don't survive(1). You wouldn't want to do that to Al, would you?"
Ed was silent.
"Remember that car crash was saw in Bresh, brother?" Al added. "We couldn't do anything to help. Everyone was gone. All we could do was cover up the mess with blankets so that the teenager's families wouldn't see them. Maybe if they'd been wearing seat belts it'd have been different."
Ed clicked his seatbelt into place. "Fine, whatever. Let's get going we have shopping to do."
Roy turned the key in the ignition and started out.
"So- does anyone want anything specific from the store?" Roy asked.
"Waffles." Ed said happily. "And soft pretzels."
"Scented candles." Al added.
"You're gonna polish yourself with that flowery smelling wax again aren't you?" Ed spoke up.
"It's the closest thing I can get to deodorant, brother." Al sounded slightly hurt.
"I know. Get some of those cucumber melon candles-I like the smell of those." Ed said quietly.
"Okay." Al brightened significantly.
"I wanna go to the High Market too." Ed piped up, looking over at Roy.
"For what?" Roy was wary. The high market sold useful things, but it was also a backdoor apothecary that sold unregulated pharmaceuticals and other odd, possibly illegal substances in the alley under the guise of traditional medicine.
"They got those cookies that have your future written inside them!" Ed looked childish with excitement.
"You need a cookie to tell you that?" Roy scoffed. "I could tell you for free. 'you will be short and miserable'."
Al sniggered from the backseat and Ed frowned. "Normally I would yell at you for that, but I wanna go to the High Market. So can we go?"
"Yes. IF you two stay close to me and we don't take long."
"Score!" Ed pumped his fist in the air, looking excited.
"What do you want to get shopping, Colonel?" Al asked.
Mustang shrugged. "Trash bags, milk, butter, eggs, bread, jam."
"Boring stuff." Ed added.
Roy pulled into the shopping center. "You say that, but I don't see you complaining when we eat dinner."
"Can we get Mac n' cheese?"
"Yes, we can get a few boxes."
"Can we get frozen burritos and ramen?"
Roy wrinkled his nose. Ever since Ed moved in with them, he'd realized the kid seemed to live off microwaved food.
"Yes, a couple. But you need to eat a vegetable every once in awhile." he got out of the car, and Ed did the same.
"Well excuse me for being too busy to go harvest nature's bounty." Ed scoffed.
"Guys!" Al called from the back, muffled by the car doors.
"What's up, Al?" Roy turned around to see Al still strapped into the back seat, his large hands struggling with the seatbelts.
"Can you unbuckle me? I'm stuck!?"
LINEBREAK LINEBREAK LINEBREAK LINEBREAK LINEBREAK
"Okay, this actually isn't so bad." Roy had his list nearly halfway completed. Ed insisted on standing on the bottom rack of the cart and holding onto the back to ride it, but Al was pushing, so Roy couldn't complain. And Al was tall enough to reach everything on the top shelf.
"Ed- name something that isn't microwaved that you'll eat."
"Peanut butter sandwhich."
"Done." Roy grabbed a jar of peanut butter off the shelf and tossed it into the cart.
"Fruits and vegetables you like?"
"Fruitsnacks!" Ed looked excited, pointing at a large box. "Those are the best, Mom used to get those for me!"
"Yeah I remember those." Al sounded excited as well.
It melted Roy's resolve. Just a little. He picked up the box. It said it was amde with real fruit juice. That was close enough to a fruit, wasn't it? If Trisha Elric had bought them for the boys, they couldn't be horrible.
"Okay. Fine. But REAL fruits, now."
"I don't have time for real fruits. I'm constantly running around to headquarters or the library." Ed complained.
Roy couldn’t argue with the kid. He was pretty busy. But still, that wasn't an excuse to live out of vending machines.
"Alright, so how about a grab and go snack. You like applesauce?"
"Yeah."
Roy snagged a box of applesauce pouches and threw it into the cart, then kept going. He just had to make sure Ed didn't realize they gave those applesauce pouches to toddlers commonly. Because he doubted Ed would care enough to grab a spoon or a more traditional applesauce cup.
"What about yogurt?" Roy asked.
Ed narrowed his eyes. "Milk." he groused from where he was holding onto the cart.
"Cheese sticks?" Roy held up the package enticingly.
"Okay." Ed acquiesced. "It doesn't taste like milk."
They were just about done shopping- the only thing left was to get coffee.
Roy started off towards the aisle but stopped when he realized Al wasn't following pushing the cart.
The boy was looking at a duster in the cleaning aisle. "Throw it in the cart, Al. I'll dust your armor off tonight if you want." he said. Al couldn't really eat, but it wasn't fair to exclude the boy from shopping.
"Thank you!"
"It's nothing. Let's get going. I want to hit the yellow market before it gets too late.".
LINEBREAK LINEBREAK LINEBREAK LINEBREAK LINEBREAK
It got dark early in the fall. So even though it was only a little after 5, dusk was setting in on the city as he and the boys parked alongside the street in the nicer part of town and walked towards the yellow market.
Ed had an excited bounce in his step at the prospect of fortune cookies, and Al was hoping to find stray cats.
The warm glow of streetlights faded as they entered the rougher neighborhood of town- a block or so was dark, before the hanging string lights and colorful candle lanterns lit up the street.
The barren streets of central melted into a new landscape of men shouting about wares in a Xingese tongue. Men with cone-shaped hates and women in flowing garb, as well as children and stray dogs ran though the streets, adding to the commotion and the smells and sights of the market.
People were selling vibrant flowers, roast seafood on sticks, and a variety of meat and pastries.
One market stall had a variety of little animals made of colored paper, and Alphonse stopped to look.
The children stopped running and playing with their sticks and hoops when they saw Edward and stared, whispering among themselves.
Roy wondered if they recognized him as the Fullmetal Alchemist or not. Normally children were enthralled by Alphonse and his armor, not Edward...
A cold wind blew, rustling the paper lanterns and scattering the children. They took off down various alleyways and down the street.
It unnerved Roy, for some reason.
Ed had found the shop he was looking for- an old woman selling the cookies he wanted.
She shakily bagged them up for him and they chatted as he got out his money to pay her.
Alphonse squatted to set a stray cat near the mouth of an alley.
The quiet suddenly struck Roy as odd. The market callers had stopped shouting about their wares and people had stopped chattering. Mothers took their children and went to other stalls further away from them.
A woman ran into Roy and fell, scattering her things on the ground.
"Sorry!" she exclaimed, her angular Xingese eyes drawing him in.
"No, not a problem at all." Roy bent to help her pick up her scattered items, though he couldn't stop the hairs of unease form standing up on the back of his neck.
As they both picked up the fallen items from the ground, the woman leaned closer to him, eyes wide. "You must leave now. They will come for the boy. Men offer lot of money for him. Children go get men- they take boy."
Roy froze for a moment, before he nodded, handing her one of the items he'd been picked up and straightening.
"Edward! Al!"
Ed had paid for his cookies- the old woman at the shop had somehow given him a large stick of candy as well and was patting him on the head.
"What?" Ed asked, looking annoyed at the interruption.
"We're going. Now." his voice left no room for argument, and Ed fell into step beside him and Al as they headed back the way they came.
"But we just got here." Ed complained.
"You got your cookies. Now let's go."
He couldn't shake the feeling they were being watched, though they got home that night without incident.
Yes- I know that in cannon the year is like 1920. I just like to imagine Roy taking his boys to walmart. I don’t know why, but it’s a balm for my soul.

for @asteria-star for her birthdayyyyyyyyyyy <3 <3 <3
“Piss off Scott.” And he would, he really would under the force of that glare, only Star’s teeth are gritted hard enough that it looks like she might crack something, and she’s bent double with her fingers pressed hard against the gross, squelchy patch of red that’s spreading alarmingly quickly over the side of her t-shirt.
So instead of pissing off Scott approaches - looking like he’s trying to keep a snake from biting him; palms up and outward in a show of being unarmed, defenseless.
It doesn't work on her. She could throw Scott Tracy further than she trusts him.
“Keep away from me.” Star warns, low and dangerous, her expression cold. "I’m dealing with it, Tracy, it's none of your concern.” The last thing any of them expected from their trip to NYC was for Star to come back from a groceries errand with what looks like a horrible stab wound instead of the tea, Crocky Crunch cereal and fresh fruit she'd gone for.
She’s pretty sure that she hasn't been followed back here, though. She’d been careful - done several loops around the block, trying to blend into the shadows, to be certain that nothing could be traced back to the Tracy's - because while turning up at the hotel bruised, battered and bleeding wasn't exactly ideal, Star hadn’t really had much of a choice in the matter. She has nowhere else to go, after all. She’d hoped to sneak past both of the Tracy's rooms to her own without alerting them to the situation, but Scott, having chosen exactly the wrong moment to head for the bar downstairs, had scuppered that.
Stupid Scott, she thinks, scowling even as blood continues to seep steadily into the fibres of her shirt. Stupid Scott and his terrible timing.
John's been giving lectures here in NYC and Scott had kindly offered to be their pilot - as, outside of an emergency, neither spacefarer can be cleared to be in control of any vehicle, let alone a plane like the Tracy Two, for 48 hours after touchdown.
“But-” Scott opens his mouth to start to protest, but Star is already strategically shuffling away from him, toward the safety of her hotel room - paid for with Tracy money, she notes, as a sign of trust that she'll keep herself out of trouble or else the GDF will want her back in a cell.
The only problem with that is that trouble tends to find her.
With blood-slippery fingers, Star swipes the room card shakily through the scanner on her door and shoves her way through it, kicking it shut behind her before Scott can catch up and get his foot in. There’s a hammering of fists on wood on the other side but Star resolutely ignores it, stumbling instead into the small, adjoining bathroom only for her knees to give out and she’s pitched, face first, onto the floor.
Star opens her eyes, hazy and unamused, to find her cheek pressed against cold tile, her fingers curled and bloodied in front of her face. Star bites back a groan, slapping both palms down and heaving herself to more of a sitting position; slouched and awful, before curling around the ragged, awful slash across her waist.
Oh fuck does it hurt.
She’s just peeling up the bloodied mess of her t-shirt when, of course, there’s a soft, quiet rap of knuckles against the bathroom door, and Star almost rolls her eyes because she knows exactly who Scott’s sicced on her.
“You can come in, John.” There’s an edge of what almost might be misery to her tone. This is what she gets for the GDF insisting that if she’s going to be on Earth, their hotel rooms have to be conjoined by the bathroom. So John can keep an eye on her, or the other way round, Star’s not sure at this point.
“What happened?” Tall, ginger and worried asks, ever so gently, already crouching at her side, and Star’s torn between the temptation to burst into tears, or to hit him for making her feel that way. There’s a chunky, green first aid kit in his hand (definitely IR standard, not the hotel’s), so he must have been warned. She watches him languidly, as he sets it down and clicks it open.
“I don’t want to talk about it.” She insists, fully aware that it’s not going to be long before she does anyway. John just hums, non-committal and light, pulling a pair of blue plastic gloves on over his fingers with a snap, snap.
“Star.” John’s watching her, quiet and earnest.
She does her best to crack a weak smile in his direction, but it must fall flat because he looks nothing but soft and serious in return. There’s a creeping fire spreading from her side and wrapping around her ribs, pooling in her lungs and she’s torn between reaching for him, clinging tight and crying and the way her skin itches with the ingrained need to run away.
She stays where she is, frozen and trembling on the cold tiles of a bathroom that's not her own. It’s probably lucky that tile is one of the easier things to clean blood up from.
She would know.
“Hey.” John’s crouching to match her hazy eyeline, fingers hovering close, but not touching. “Think it’d be ok for me to have a look?” He treats her as far more startled bunny in headlights than snake coiled to strike and Star wants to cry; ‘don't you know what I’m capable of! Don’t you know that I could hurt you! Put you and all of your precious brothers in danger just by being near you!’ But she doesn’t, because John’s smart. John already knows all that and he’s here for her anyway.
Her face is an uncomfortably ashy grey and John would rather deal with the horrific amount of blood smeared on her side and fingers and floor before they need to look into transfusion options.
She just nods, stiff and uncomfortable and in pain. Her teeth ache.
“Take your shirt off,” he instructs. If it was anyone else, she’d have made some kind of joke about them having to buy her a drink first, but this is John and he’s about as into that sort of thing as one of the plant’s he’s cultivating up in space would be, so she just sighs and lets him help her peel the sticky, clinging fabric from the wound and up over her head.
Her waist is a weeping wash of red and John pulls a face to show that he’s less than impressed. The long knife wound is clean across and doesn’t look too deep, but it’s raw and juicy with new blood and the skin around it already has a dark wash of purple bruising. John goes a little bit grey-pale at the sight of it - a fresh reminder that they’ve both been on the planet less than 24 hours.
“You ok?” She brings a wobbly hand up to catch on his elbow, just below where he’s rolled his sweater up to his elbows so that she doesn’t get bloody fingerprints on Grandma Tracy’s rough cableknit.
“I’m not the one with the nasty, jagged slice across my stomach.” John points out, dryly, and it’s not like she can deny that. He slides a steadying hand around her back and Star has to resist the urge to hold her breath as he inspects the injury.
She just wants to curl up in bed with a blanket over her head and not exist for a few hours. She wants to go home and that’s an odd feeling to clash with the presence of the careful ginger man who’s rapidly become the definition of the word.
“You didn’t get me strawberries then,” John comments, lightly, as he works. The spaceman’s sweet tooth is practically non-existent until it comes to fruit. She knows his weakness. “This might sting a bit.” He says, though both of them are well aware it’s an understatement.
“Next t-time.” There’s a bit of a wheeze as John swipes a sterile wipe over her stomach, busy cleaning up the wound. She’s got one hand clamped tightly onto his shoulder now, white-knuckled, not quite sure how it had ended up there when she’d been so careful about not getting his sweater bloodied. She hopes he’s not going to have bruises on that pale skin of his in the morning.
She closes her eyes and tips her head back, trying to get better control over her shaky breathing.
“I’m going to start closing this.” He advises, carefully judging her grimace as he presses the wound closed with his fingers, squelchy and horrible, but ready for him to begin applying steri strips from the first aid kit. It’s a tricky job with her curled over like she is, and when every breath she takes pulls at the skin, so John places a firm but careful hand on her shoulder and pushes her back flat against the tile wall so that he can see what he’s doing.
To his credit, he is, at least, quick about it.
"If I suggest that you should probably get this checked by a hospital,” John adds, gently probing at his fix-up-job of the angry, swollen wound, before he puts a triage bandage over it. “are you gonna try to run for it?"
He'd rather have a second opinion on if this needs more than steri strips to hold it closed, and though he could holo-call Virgil, he'd rather not risk her wrath. She doesn’t dignify the idea with an answer though, instead, angling her cheek away from him and breathing hard through her nose to try and get a handle on the pain.
"I'll compromise," He says, with the tone of a man who knows he'll get what he wants either way, "take some morphine and a full spectrum antibiotic and… uh-ha-ha," he holds up a hand to keep her from interrupting him with protests, "There could have been anything on that, uh… knife?” It looks like a knife wound. “Take both of these and I'll not drag you to A&E by your floppy bangs."
Like he could. Star would almost be amused by the attempted bribery if not for the agony her side is in. Each breath tastes like fire now, and the round circles John presses into her palm are a couple of miniature blessings.
"And I don't have to explain myself to Scott." She's not going to anyway, but it feels like an important thing to add to the bargain before she knocks the drugs back.
"No ones gonna make you talk to Scott." John reaffirms, "but you know he's just worried. He's a big brother, it's what he does best. I imagine he'll have called Virgil to freak out about it though.”
Great. Another worrywart with questions. Just what she needs.
Virgil isn’t so bad though, there’s something calming about the family’s gentle giant, and she’s watched him patch John up more than enough times to trust he knows what he’s doing. Unlike Scott, Virgil’s knows when not to stick his nose into something.
“John…” There’s something else worrying her, nagging at her, something far worse than a stab wound because it could cost her her place aboard Thunderbird Five. “You’re not going to... report this to the GDF, uh, are you?” She’s not supposed to go off on her own, for one, and scrapping with some old familiar faces isn’t going to earn her any gold stars on the behave and we’ll let you stay with John chart.
It was a weird mix of punishment and witness protection and a favor from John’s Aunt Val that put her up there in the first place, and while at first, she’d have done almost anything to be anywhere but, Thunderbird Five… well, John’s grown on her.
“I think the bigger problem will be convincing Scott that it’s none of his business.” John points out lightly, “Dare I ask what happened?” Her face is losing color by the second. It seems important to keep her talking. Can’t be unconscious if you’re talking.
“People don’t like to go down without a fight.’ Star offers him the widest grin she can manage, revealing that one of her front teeth is a little chipped. “Gangs with long-standing grudges especially.”
John shakes his head, slow and disparaging.
“Right. Of course. Think you can stand?” When she nods slowly in confirmation, John gently leavers her upright, waiting patiently the few seconds it takes for her to blink the phosphenes from her vision as the blood drains away from her head. Both her hands find his shoulders again, but he doesn’t seem to mind.
“It’s lucky it wasn’t too deep.” John sighs, probably more to himself than anyone. She tilts her head back down to find him looking at the covered patch on her side. “Those bruises do look bad though, it really would be better if someone could check you for internal injury.” He glances at her face from beneath a sweep of golden-ginger lashes, waiting for an answer. When she doesn’t offer him one, he sighs. “I could call Virgil and make him run a scan and-”
“Tomorrow, John.” Her head falls, heavy, onto his shoulder with a bit of a thunk. “I just wanna go to bed.” The last bit comes out as not much more than a whisper.
“Right then, come on.” John slides a supportive arm around her back, careful not to let his fingers brush skin. “Bed it is.”
Star swivels around so she can wrap her arms around his waist and press her face into his shoulder, trying to get as close to the warmth as possible. With John here, she doesn't really want to go back to where she's sleeping. Alone everything seems so… dangerous. The hotel filters in the sounds of the streets, people she doesn’t know in the corridors, threats from every angle. It creeps her out a little, and so she clings to John a little tighter. She starts mumbling again, trying to tell him she'll happily sleep on the floor if it means she doesn't have to be alone.
“Star…? Star.” He sighs, supporting more of her slight weight, shaking his head fondly. “Fine, ok, I’ll stay with you. You’re as bad as Alan, wanting to sleep on the floor. What am I going to do with you?” He laughs, and she feels it verberate through his chest. “Come on, you’re not alone.”
He pulls at her shoulder, half spinning her in an almost dance-like move as he lets her knees crumple and Star finds herself sitting on the plush hotel bed. Very gently, John tugs up the comforter and drapes it over her shoulders, like a blanket-cape.
He vanishes, briefly, to go find her a new, clean t-shirt and a pair of sleep sweats and looks entirely unsurprised when he comes back with one of his own, faded t-shirts in hand, pilfered by her long ago.
"I did wonder where this had gone." He points out, softly amused, as he helps manoeuvre it over her head. "You could at least leave me an IOU so I know what you've… borrowed." It's a kinder word than stolen but John's well aware of the chances of him getting things back once they've made their way into Star’s wardrobe.
Just as well his Father was a billionaire, really. John hardly minds a few things going missing here and there when they're going to a girl who has so very little in the way of her own possessions and no money to her name. He's caught her liberating his bank cards more than once, and it had only prompted a conversation about asking first before he sighs and hands the plastic over.
Privately, John thinks that had she not have wanted to be caught, she wouldn't have been.
“Sleep.” He advises softly, well away of just how heavy her lids look as he helps her onto her back and makes sure the covers are tucked securely around her. “I’ll be right here, ok?” John waves a book at her, though she has no memory of him picking it up, and the last thing she sees before sleep takes her, is him smiling softly, reaching out to move a lock of stray hair from off her cheek.

i’ll remember you // kuroo tetsuroo x reader (1/3)
Author’s Note: I absolutely adore the movie Kimi no Na Wa, and I guess this is a sort of reprised version? Don’t ask me how I got the idea, I have no clue lmao. Just started writing it one day and this is what I came up with. I gave it three parts because the whole thing is quite long. Do tell me what you think!
Word count: 4243
Pairing: Kuroo Tetsuroo x Reader [Kimi no Na Wa re-write]
Summary: Everything had been perfectly normal until you woke up as a volleyball captain from a school you didn't go to, in a city you didn't live in. Ever since then, Kuroo Tetsuroo has been inching closer and closer into your life, wrecking almost everything that could perhaps be considered normal.
However, you never realized how vital he was to you; because you were sure you would understand upon seeing him.The struggle however, was remembering each other. Because what good would it do if you went to saw him and he didn't remember you?
Well, the universe turns back time, of course. Until he did.
Warnings: angst, body-swapping, fantasy, reader is depressed, mentions of suicide, character death, slow burn, bittersweet end, awkward boners, mentions of porn

ch. 01 — country bumpkin
You could not remember how you had fallen asleep last night.
You woke up with a faint stinging in the back of your head as if someone had hit you with a ball. You groaned, but you sounded gruffer than you'd remembered; as if you had an itch in your throat that you couldn't quite clear off. You felt as if your entire body had been stretched out longer than you were and it was strange, it wasn't as if you were injured or anything. You just cried yourself to sleep because you were turned down by the person you had a crush on for quite some time now. Letting out a breath, which you swore sounded like someone else instead, you raised yourself to come face to face with a room you had never seen before.
You could hear vehicles on the road outside, and your eyes narrowed, trying to decipher what was going on. You probably were still dreaming, that's for sure, since the first thing you'd always saw when you woke up was the window right in front of you. Now, there was no window but just a plain grey wall with a poster of a rather weird looking rat-like thing with a robot on its back, and the window instead was near the table with stacks and stacks of books lying on top of it. For a dream, this had way too much detail, but it wasn't as if you could complain. At least you weren't dreaming of Akio-kun, so that was something.
    "What in the world?"
Your eyes widened instantly before your hand went to wrap around your throat; and you let out a squeak, which again, didn't sound like you. Your heart was racing now and you searched for the bathroom in this dream and rushed inside, and your eyes came in contact with one of the most handsome boys you had ever seen. His hair could use a fix-up, but considering how you'd just woken up, you guessed this is how his bed hair looked like. His features were incredibly well-divided, his teeth were perfect, and he was freaking tall.
You were somebody else. Somebody handsome. Your eyes widened before feeling something heavy downward, a strange warmth spread all over your body when you looked down to see something poking out through the boy's underwear. Your face instantly reddened before screaming, not thinking if he lived alone or if his family could hear. You didn't care; you were not this boy, you were in a strange place.
Running back to the room, you tried to look for anything that made sense, anything that could let you know who this person was and how it was that you got here. It had to be a dream, but you had slapped yourself or him enough times to wake up but you were still here. Panic rushed through you, but perhaps it was because this boy didn't have terrible anxiety like you, you could strangely calm yourself down. You found his phone and thank goodness it didn't have a pin, because, for the life of you, you didn't have this boy's memories.
What the heck, you thought, and even your mind voice changed into this boy's voice and it unnerved you. It wasn't as if you never dreamed of something like this, but for it to actually happen in such great detail, it didn't flatter you; it was a big inconvenience. At least I don't have to face Akio-kun, you thought before opening this boy's phone, and learning that he was perhaps an anime fan.
You discovered through his text messages that his name was Kuroo. You were yet to discover his first name, but that was for later. You were in Tokyo, a city far, far away from your own, a city you had never been to but had always wanted to go and live in, and you had discovered that he was the volleyball captain for his school. You remember playing a little bit of volleyball back in middle school, but you were a second-year high school student in Fukue Gakuen, sports weren't as prominent as teasing girls and crushing on boys. You'd learned that Kuroo was best friends with someone named Yaku (or you weren't sure if the members in the group were being sarcastic, for this Yaku person did not even like being addressed in such a way), and there was someone named Kenma. You'd heard of Instagram but students from Fukue generally spent more time gossiping than on their phones, especially with limited internet access.
You guessed things in Tokyo were different since the internet was relatively quite fast here. You clicked on Instagram before thinking you were blessed. You tried as hard as you could to memorize how the volleyball team looked, how Kenma looked, and in each and every one of those pictures, Kuroo himself looked rather dashing, and you wondered if this dream would end soon or not.
"Tetsu!" An ugly voice rammed itself into the room and you almost dropped your Kuroo's phone.
You turned around to spot a middle-aged man with a stubble, a nasty frown on his face which died down on seeing you there, standing with your phone, in the middle of the room. To whoever this person was, you were Kuroo and you decided to stay mum until he left.
"Ah, you're awake. Damn, thought you were still asleep," The man rubbed the back of his neck, "You're going to be late for school, moron. Go get ready. And," He cringed before pointing to your pants, "Take care of that, for god's sakes."
Your face reddened before your hands rushed downward, feeling Kuroo's private parts sticking out uncharacteristically. You knew why this happened, and even if you were from the country, that didn't mean you were unaware of the morning wood. You had a friend who'd given you all the unnecessary details, especially when you didn't want it.
"Uh, so... Who are you?" You asked, taking a risk.
"Ah?!" The man didn't even look offended, "Your goddamn father, go wash the sleep off your face, Tetsu!"
Oh, so it was his father! You wanted to ask him how to get rid of the morning wood in other easier ways, but you guessed that Kuroo or Tetsu wasn't such a person. You took a breath before heading inside the bathroom to take a shower, hoping it'd eradicate your problem. You were accustomed to calling Tetsu's body as your own now because this was where you were for the time being, and it didn't make sense that you had to correct yourself constantly. You found his uniform sprawled on the nightstand, which made your eyebrow twitch with annoyance; whoever this Kuroo was, he sure as heck didn't care how he looked like. Despite looking like a demigod, you thought before putting on your shoes.
You didn't take a peek at his... private parts. You took a bath with his underwear, trying hard not to drool over how toned his body was. Maybe, he took the whole volleyball thing quite seriously; you'd heard of how Tokyo schools were all about championships and leagues, and the volleyball scene was quite huge in Japan. You managed to change his underwear somehow and put on new ones with your eyes closed and it was then the most important thought, the one you had been sitting on all this while, hit you.
What if he's in my body!?
Your eyes widened and your hands flew to your face, but somehow seeing Kuroo with his hands on his face made you blush harder at how out-of-character it was. You didn't even know who this Kuroo person was, but giving him feminine mannerisms made you feel weird.
He better not have... You thought before feeling uncomfortable, but there was honestly nothing you could do at this point. Perhaps, he was just as weirded out, perhaps, he was just as confused as you were and wouldn't try to do anything stupid.
You didn't know how to get to school, but it was something you knew you'd have to solve. Grabbing everything that he otherwise needed, his wallet, his bag, and a small part of you was excited that you were getting to travel in Tokyo and live a day in Tokyo as someone else. Despite how different it felt. Your heart was pounding in your chest as you walked out of the house, and on your way out, you noticed how the house looked. It was a simple-looking house but the lack of woodwork made your feet feel weird. Kuroo wore indoor slippers, and so did his father, and two others who looked like they were his grandparents. Where's his mother? You thought in Kuroo's voice before noticing his father approach you.
"Eat," He snapped, "Don't walk out without eating."
    "Okay."
For some reason, Kuroo's father turned and looked at you with a funny expression. He was just as tall as Kuroo, which must have explained where the height came from. You cocked your eyebrow at him, wondering if you had said anything strange, but you were sure you hadn't.
"We've got toast." The dad mumbled quietly before walking away, coming to place something on the kotatsu.
You found it rather easy to sit and get back up, but toast for breakfast? You were more of a rice and egg person in the morning, but perhaps Kuroo didn't pay attention to what he ate. After breakfast, you ignored the weird look Kuroo's father was giving you before heading out, to find Kenma waiting outside the gate, playing something on a weird horizontal device.
    "What are you doin' here?"
Kenma paused the game before turning and looking at you, cocking an eyebrow at you funnily.
"Waiting for you, did you forget that we go to school together?"
"Ah," You rubbed the back of Kuroo's neck, "Must'a slipped my mind—"
"What's with the country accent?" Kenma mumbled before putting his game inside and you froze.
You completely forgot about trying to maintain an accent. You weren't sure if you could tell Kenma what had happened, but you knew that if someone were to come and tell you they had slipped out of their body and entered someone else's, you'd definitely not believe them, and not only that, you'd worry for their mental health.
"I was watching something last night," You tried to shake off Kenma's suspicion, but every word that slipped out of your mouth sounded disastrously weird to you, "Don't mind me."
    "You're acting strange, Kuroo."
"I said don't worry about it." You looked away.
Kenma was perhaps as tall as you were in real life. Kuroo was certainly tall, and you believed he was probably one of the tallest in his school. Well, I'm glad I don't have to find my way to school, you thought before following Kenma, following after every one of his actions. Taking out the card that he used for the train, taking a right when he took a right, taking a left when he took a left—strange, you thought before noticing the school in the distance, I think we took a long way around.
"Right, so spill," You heard Kenma say, grasping your wrist, "Who are you?"
Eh? Your eyes widened and you instantly blushed at his question. How the hell did he get to know? What was he even suggesting?
    "What? Kenma-kun, I—"
"You are definitely not Kuroo. I had my suspicions, but the '-kun' confirmed it."
You were sure you were panicking now. The school was just meters away and Kenma had thrown a bomb at you. Whoever this little rat was, he was sure as hell was perceptive. You tried to breathe, but the anxiety was starting to bubble in your chest. Turning to meet Kenma in the eye, you gave him a worried expression, which he just ignored.
"Lemme explain, I ain't from around 'ere."
Kenma nodded, "I figured as much. How are you here?"
You shook your head, "I 'ave no clue. I just woke up and I'm 'ere. I'm not even from Tokyo!"
Kenma sighed, before leading you inside. He gestured you to follow and handed you something from inside his bag. It was a face mask. You took it from him before hearing him say,
"Don't talk to anyone. Just tell them you have a cold."
You narrowed your eyes. This Kenma person seemed almost prepared for something like this. Was it something that happened a lot with Kuroo? As strange as it sounded, was it your first time and not his? You put on the mask quietly before following after him, before tugging his sleeve. Kenma paused before swatting your hand away.
"Kuroo doesn't do that. We'll talk during lunch. Go to class 3-1."
    "Okay. I'm sorry."
He gave you a strange look but ignored you. It was funny how Kenma and Kuroo didn't share a class, but that didn't matter. The mask helped. However, Kenma hadn't told you where you sat, and the class was already occupied. Oh no, you thought before scanning your eyes all over every desk in the classroom. Where does he sit? Does he sit by the window like an anime character? Where does he—
"Kuroo-san," A voice sounded from behind you and you froze before turning to see a teacher, "Please go to your desk—oh? Are you sick?"
You gave her a helpless smile before realizing that the mask must have covered most of your smile, so you were just closing your eyes at her. She sighed before pointing to a particular desk, and said, "Go."
You nodded before thanking her a gazillion times inside your head and sitting over there. Homeroom was quite strange; the kids were just minding their own business and some of the students weren't even paying attention to what the teacher was saying. You wondered what kind of student Kuroo was, but taking one good look at his notes made you understand just where you were sitting.
He was in a college preparatory class. This Kuroo person was a smartass.
He was good at subjects you were terrible at. Math. Chemistry. Physics. He was great at those, but he wasn't too bad at biology, English and Japanese. Both of you seemed to dislike history, but you didn't think literature was too bad, but Kuroo hated it. He refused even to take notes of the same. Your fingers loomed over his notes and despite the terrible handwriting, you could tell that he worked hard.
"Kuroo-san," The teacher sounded, offering you a soft smile, "Please get better soon."
Your eyes were wide at the sudden show of concern and you smiled before nodding and realized that no one in class even paid attention. Some of the girls came over to you and asked you if you were alright, but just from one look at them, you realized they were trying to flirt. You didn't know what annoyed you, but suddenly, you saw yourself in one of the girls, and how you'd throw yourself at Akio-kun. Was this how it felt? You thought before clearing your throat.
"Girls, I really can't talk right now." You tried to say in your fake city accent and heard moans of disapproval from them.
You wanted to snap at everyone personally and tell them that maybe Kuroo didn't care about them at all. Maybe, this Kuroo person was a flirt with no mind, who'd callously play with the emotions of the girls around him, only for his own benefit. And since he was from the city, he might even... he might even do some illicit activities like drugs or such. You didn't know who this Kuroo person was, but you were hoping Kenma would fill you in. If this was the life you had to live from now, a part of you worried that it would remain this way. Lunch break didn't come too early. By the time it was lunch hour, you almost felt like you indeed had a cold, and you rushed out immediately to spot Kenma standing by the door.
    "Kenma-kun!"
He winced at what you called him before saying, "Drop the -kun, damnit. Kuroo never says that!"
You felt your heart shrink from being scolded, but nodded before following him. He turned to you and gave you a look before letting out a sigh.
    "Let's go get lunch first."
    "There's a cafeteria 'ere?"
"It's a regular school. Of course, there is. Unless the school you're from doesn't have a cafeteria—"
    "We prefer takin' bentos."
Kenma and yourself managed to buy some more bread before you realized that the city folk ate a substantial amount of it. A few minutes later, Kenma began eating while walking and you just stared at him like he was committing a crime. He shot you a look before smirking and continuing his eating. The two of you walked to the roof, which was considerably less occupied than you had imagined.
"I really thought there'd be more people—"
"Have you watched the movie 'Kimi no Na Wa'?"
    "What?"
Kenma let out a sigh, "This happens in the movie. I'm surprised it actually happened, and to Kuroo nonetheless, but the movie prepared me, I think."
"So you knew somethin' like this was gonna happen?" You asked, narrowing your eyes.
He shook his head, "I didn't say that. Just... Familiar with something like this. Not sure why it happens and I seriously hope you're not from a remote country village that's going to be destroyed by a meteor."
You felt a shiver run down your spine, "I am from a remote country village, though... I—I'm from F-Fukue I-Island, i-it's the l-largest island i-in the G-Goto—"
"Relax, your island isn't going to be destroyed." I think, he thought but decided against telling you.
"How long is this goin' to happen for?" You asked, folding your arms in front of your chest. Standing there as Kuroo made you feel a tad bit confident, judging from how tall he was.
"Well, not sure if you're following the movie's timeline, but it happens for a while on random days. You can insert notes in Kuroo's phone for him to see so that you two can communicate whenever this happens. Text yourself to let him know."
"What if it isn't Kuroo that's... that's in my body?"
    "Highly unlikely."
"But you just said that this hadn't ever happened before!"
Kenma sighed, before chewing on his bread, "You have to trust me," He said, right before taking another bite, "Besides, it's not like you can go to anyone. No one will believe you. Especially since that movie's a bit famous, they'll just think Kuroo's playing with them."
    "Does he play around often?"
Kenma nodded, "All the time."
You groaned before feeling tears prick your eyes, "What was the point of the movie? When did it stop?"
"When the... male character and the female character met each other. And they saved the village that the female character lived in."
    "You said—"
"I know what I said. I'm just... maybe, you have to identify what's lacking in your life and see if Kuroo has it."
You were quiet. The only recent sadness or void in your life came from being rejected brutally by Akio-kun. Your mother and you shared a strained relationship, your father had passed away long ago, your younger brother was an absolute pain. The other family you had, your aunt, lived in Tokyo, and you'd always wanted to live with her considering you were closer to your mother's sister than your mother herself. Most days you didn't even want to get off the bed. If Kuroo was in your body, you knew there was quite possibly nothing he could do that could make your life worse there.
    "What's your name?"
"(s/n) (y/n)." You said, now looking at him.
Suddenly, Kenma's eyes widened at what you said.
"What?" He asked, narrowing his eyes at you.
    "What do you mean what?"
That's the name of the girl who....
    "Nothing."
That's the name of the girl who died three weeks ago.
The day passed by quite normally. Kenma thankfully had informed the team that Kuroo was sick and practice had been pushed to another day. Apparently the coach scared the boy, and it wasn't something that you could relate to. You'd left a note behind on Kuroo's phone, 'This is (s/n) (y/n), I hope my life didn't scare you too much!', but secretly wondered if anything strange had happened. While heading back home, you asked Kenma if Kuroo and his dad were distant.
"Hm, you could say that," Kenma said, clearly not wanting to talk about it, "Kuroo's mom passed when he was a kid. They moved here and became my neighbor. He was silent then. I think I preferred that."
You giggled and said, "You guys must really be close."
He shrugged, "I guess. We've always known each other."
"Which was why you could figure out that I'm not Kuroo."
Kenma was quiet. He'd asked you to watch the movie to understand a little more about what was going on between you and Kuroo. However, there was something else that Kenma had discovered that he wasn't telling you. If you were a year younger than Kuroo, which was what you'd mentioned, then that meant you in Kuroo's body, were from the past. Because the 'you' in the present had died three weeks ago.
It was something he knew he had to discuss with Kuroo if he hadn't figured that out already.
Just as you reached Kuroo's house, you smiled at him before saying, "Here's hoping I don't see you again."
Kenma chuckled before waving at you, knowing full well that this was going to happen again. Just as you walked away, Kenma turned to a building opposite to where he lived and let out a breath. (s/n) (y/n), huh, he thought before rubbing the back of his head, This is fucked up.
Kuroo's dad wasn't at home when you reached home. Perhaps, he was out for work? You could hear soft snoring coming from upstairs, and you figured that it must be his grandparents.
Kuroo lives with his father and grandparents, Kenma had told you. He has a permanent bed head, and his father loves him but has a temper. Kuroo hates yelling, and he thinks people who yell are degenerate, although sometimes, he gets loud himself.
You walked into Kuroo's room and let out a breath. You set his bag down and removed his uniform, before ironing them and placing them neatly in a hanger and letting them hang from the door. You tried to rid him of his bed hair to no avail, and you opened one of his books before writing another note.
I'm sorry this happened, and I'm aware that if you were living as me for a day, it must be a bit hard. But, I'm glad it's over now. I'm glad you're back to being Kuroo Tetsuroo again. And I hope it never has to happen.
When night came, you decided to eat your fill. You felt bad enough for Kuroo for having to live as you. Turning on the movie Kimi no Na Wa, you tried to watch, trying to learn what this meant. Strangely, Kuroo had already seen it since his computer had a folder that said 'Favorites' and this movie was in that folder. Back in Fukue Island, you prided yourself on how you could use the computer better than your classmates, but clearly, you weren't a genius. The movie was playing, but you couldn't hear it. Shooting a text message to Kenma, you hoped the boy could answer.
Instead, he called you.
"Kenma-kun," You could picture him wincing, "Can you please tell me what to do 'ere? I'm not able ta hear anythin'."
"Just check if it's in mute. Kuroo watches porn in mute."
Your face reddened and your eyes widened at the sudden burst of information, which you only chose to ignore. Finding the mute button, you sighed before thanking Kenma and then another thought struck your head.
He'd watched porn right before I touched it!
The shock had the laptop falling off your lap and onto the floor, a clear crack presented on its screen.
"What was that?" You could hear Kenma's alerted voice at the end of the phone.
    "N-Nothin'!"
Oh no! You felt tears prick your eyes at how broken the laptop was. Scrambling to the floor, you closed the laptop before rushing over to the notebook and writing another note right below the one you had already written.
I'm sorry about your laptop! I really am!
You slapped your forehead, no Kuroo's forehead, and groaned before collapsing on the bed. Your heart was beating rapidly, and there went every chance to watch a movie that could have otherwise explained to you what was going on. If Kuroo's watched it, then he probably understands this better than I do, you thought before letting out a breath. Closing your eyes, you felt sleep pull you into a lull, a sort of comfort you hadn't felt in a very long time. The sound of your mother's voice calling you for breakfast rang in your ear; you honestly missed her with every fiber of your being.
Missed her? You felt a tear leak out of your eye. She's still alive, though...

Part 7
Tumblr media
Pairing: Tai'chi Kashharzol (Orc) x Pearl Blackbell (Fem!Human/Reader)
Word count: 2.9k
Warnings: Violence, brief mention of attempted rape (minor character)
Tai'chi gently lets go of your hand as the two of you approached the building entrance, students filing out of the rooms, chattering as they made their way to their next class.
As much as you want to feel the warmth of his hand as he held yours, both of you didn't want to risk any more brash acts, having enough of what had happened in less than a day.
You are tired.
One more jerk approaching you with a snide, insulting remark will send you off into a frenzy of kicking everybody's ass. Your father always scolded you for this, lecturing you about the importance of training your self-control, to not let your temper get the best of you.
Come to think of it, if Tai'chi hadn't stopped you earlier, you would've lashed out at David without a second thought, which will then put you in a bad position, making everything far more complicated.
Worst case, they would have expelled you right away.
Self-control, huh. Should've listened to Papa and worked more on it.
You weren't paying much attention to where you were going as you walked through the slightly crowded halls. You let out an "oomph" as you bumped into someone's...arm?
Your apology didn't make its way out of your mouth as a tall, blonde elf, snapped.
"Watch it, human."
The elf gave an irritant side glance as they passed, looking down at you, literally. Like most elven kind, they were slightly taller than the average human. You scented them, subtle, taking in a smell that confused you. The usual sourness is there, but mixed with something sweet? Perhaps the elf was not a bad person after all. Sweet scents from your experience were good.
Kind, even.
"I'm sorry!" You called out, with enough volume, so they could hear you. Your apology was genuine, with a small smile hidden behind your mask. All you got was a 'hmp' in return.
Hey, at least they heard you. You really didn't mean to bump into them, maybe they didn't see you, in regards of your height.
Which wasn't much.
You turned to Tai'chi, and as always, he was watching you, his gaze soft, his face neutral, but you caught a small tug of his lips before it goes back to his previous expression as you went to your class.
-
Once you stepped inside, you subconsciously looked for vacant seats in the back. Luckily, there were still a few students when you arrived, the pink pixie and the lizard person catching your attention first. You waved as you pass by where they sat. The pixie waved back, seemingly cheerful with your greeting. The lizard person beside her, however, only gave you a curious eye.
You took your seat, Tai'chi following suit and took his beside you, the chair slightly creaking under his weight. You held your breath, releasing it after a moment when the chair didn't break. Tai'chi hummed in amusement.
A moment later, an old, white-haired man entered, followed by a couple of students in your class. He wore a light grey undershirt, a black vest with a red tie, matching black slacks and shoes, along with square-rimmed glasses.
You didn't see him in the office earlier so you have no idea what he's like.
"Good afternoon, students." The teacher began as he wrote on the blackboard. The class responded to his greeting before he continued with his aged voice. "I am Professor Hurton Flemming. I will be the one teaching you your General Mathematics. We will be..."
You listened to Professor Flemming as he briefed the class on what you will be tackling in his subject for your freshmen year.
"Please raise your hand if your name is called. I would like to know the names and faces of my students under my care this year." He took out what looked like a journal and started calling your names.
Turns out, the girl who shoved you this morning was Tiffany Morai. She did sound and act like a Tiffany, like a bitch.
No offense to the other Tiffanies out there.
Lilia Fontaine, the pink pixie. Her name suits her cheerful and bright personality just from her scent when you passed by. She smelled like an assortment of flowers. You weren't good with figuring out their names but you could hint marigolds, which was abundant where you were from.
The lizardperson, Eznet Novak, you found out right after. You couldn't scent them much, just a whiff of some earthy mineral you didn't know.
You thought back on what Tai'chi had told you in regards of your ability.
I should ask him later.
Eznet seemed apprehensive of you, too. Maybe they don't like humans in particular? Or is it because of your mask? People who wore masks are usually deemed suspicious so it seems.
The blue tiefling and the dwarf from earlier weren't present, you noticed. Perhaps they skipped or went somewhere else, another class maybe.
You looked to your seatmate for help when you missed someone's name. Tai'chi felt your eyes on him and he leaned down for you to whisper.
"What's the elf's name again? I spaced out for a second there," you asked.
"Her name's Arlenre Vinela."
Tai'chi whispered back, tilting his head to your ear. You couldn't help but feel a little shiver run down your spine at his rich voice. You hoped he didn't notice it. You almost forgot the name again.
"T-Thanks."
He huffed out a reply as he sat back in his chair. He briefly gauged your reaction, quite proud when he saw that slight tinge of color on your ear.
The two of you raised your hands in attendance, being the last ones called.
-
Once the professor was done, he left everyone to use the time left for chit-chat and other things as long as we don't cause problems. He is caring and openminded, you wondered what he's like when teaching actual lessons in class.
Ligh chatter filled the room, some in hushed voices, others in a casual one. You glanced to your right at a group of humans halfway across the large room as you sensed their eyes on you. They grimaced when you saw them and went back to gossip amongst each other.
You try blocking out their scents, letting out a tired sigh when you couldn't, you shut your eyes and attempt to get some rest before anything else happens, resting your head on your arm and desk.
What are the chances that a ball of paper would be thrown in your direction right after?
Pretty high.
The orc saw it flying over and caught it in his fist before it hit you. He shot a glare in their direction, huffing when the students pretended to have nothing to do with the paper.
Tai'chi suspected some worded insult inside, so he chose not to uncrumple it, shoving it inside his pocket instead. He'll throw it once he sees a trash bin on the way out.
You weren't aware of what happened and even if you felt the air move, you wouldn't care much. The day's events were catching up to you slowly, you're pretty sure once you step inside your apartment you'd pass out.
For what seemed like half an eternity later, the bell rang for the last time today.
-
"...Pearl." You two walked out, Tai'chi slowing down his steps for you as he took notice of your drowsy state.
"Hm...?"
"You are tired."
"Mhm yeah...that I am." You replied, yawning behind your mask. Tai'chi chuckled at this, he found you cute everytime.
"Would you allow me to walk you home?" He offered once the two of you got out of the school building.
You perked up, blinking away rapidly.
"W-walk me home?"
"Yes...? But if you're not comfortable with I unders—"
"No! I mean yes!" you spluttered, "I mean— I-I would like that...you walking me home, Tai'chi." Your little outburst drew some attention, but you were pre-occupied to even bother.
Tai'chi breathed out, "Good. That's good. I would like to talk to you about the, uh, courting, if that's okay with you? If you're exhausted we could talk tomorrow." There was no lie on how your eyes looked, you need to rest.
"Nah, I can pay attention for that," you insisted. "I'd like to know what these courting rituals are, today, so I'll know what to expect...and stuff. I seriously have no idea. I never ever, ever had any...suitors? Yeah, suitors."
Huh, now that you think about your past, you didn't find anyone you were attracted to, much to every other girl's convenience and annoyance when you wouldn't react like them when the "campus sweetheart" walks by, squealing and batting their eyelashes, puffing out their chests and raising their hips. They all acted the same way and you found it confusing why they'd do that, alienating you in the process.
"Not even one?" The orc was secretly baffled and relieved to hear that, but he'd never admit it out loud. Maybe.
"Before you? Hell, there are none. I don't think they know I exist, until I get into a fight with them or if they caught word about my reputation, I guess," you shrugged. "You see, uh, most people don't really like the thought of girls who are strong, and psh...capable of anything else other than being submissive, curvaceous and flirty with those skimpy skirts." You say to him, waving your hand in front of your face. You were out of the gate already, so you head right, Tai'chi an arm's length away to your left.
He grunts as he pondered about how those human men are blind and shallow in their choice of interest. Who would not want a strong woman? One capable of handling herself in undesired situations and protecting others?
The answer to that was obvious.
You remained silent for a while, the rush of vehicles and the buzzing of the city surrounded you as you got lost again in your own thoughts. You saw groups of high school students chatting along as they passed.
Tai'chi would glance at you from time to time, paying attention to your features, your tight braid swaying slightly behind you as you walked, and your hands hidden inside your hoodie. You took a left and crossed the street, and then a right after 8 minutes of walking straight, the area you were currently in was quite deserted in the early evening...
A scent.
You stood still, frozen as your nose caught something faint. Something familiarly bad.
"What's wrong?" Taichi asked, his brows furrowing, concerned as he watched you— why did you stop?
"Tai'chi, do you smell that?"
He inhaled the air around him, catching a whiff of something indecent and awful, he frowned, alarmed when he realized what it was.
Lust and fear.
A distant scream slit through the silence and you bolted.
It took a second for Tai'chi to follow, taking large hurried steps as you ran ahead of him towards the origin of the distress.
When you arrive in a dark dingy alley, you pulled out a pair of nunchucks from your bag, the red and black patterns barely visible in the shadows, your knuckle dusters on your left, fingers gripping them tightly. You saw a young girl, her uniform that of a high school student, similar to the ones earlier. She was held down against a wall by a brawny tattooed arm of a man, his hand slowly trailing up her skirt as the other people with him rummaged her school bag.
"P-Please let me go...!" She begged as she squirmed under his grasp.
"There now, little girl, you and I are gonna have so much fun tonight," he breathed at her neck, humming lustfully as he groped her thighs.
You didn't bother making a sound as you lunged, going for the first one as you whip your weapon and hit the back of his head. This startled him, letting go of the girl in the process as he stumbled back, she only sat there, shocked in place.
"What the fu—" You shut him up with a punch to his gut and another one to his jaw. He drops to the ground, unmoving, you hit him too hard, apparently. Not dead, at least.
You got to caught up on your front that you failed to notice the one behind you.
Shit.
Curse yourself for being such a reckless ass when you're lethargic. You braced yourself for whatever was coming, arms raising up to cover your head defensively.
A second passed but nothing happened, nothing hurt. You opened your eyes when you heard a strangled cry and saw a man, held at his neck against the wall by none other than your orc.
W-Wait he's not my orc!
Tai'chi disarms him and buries the knife into the wall just beside the their face, cracking the concrete in the process. He let out a low growl, reigning the urge to simply snap their neck for trying to hurt you. He glared down at them, the man shaking under his hold, terrified.
Your attention was quickly drawn away by a yell of someone heading for you, seeing a glint of another knife, you dodged as he repeatedly tries to stab. You wrapped the chains of your weapon around his wrist when he swiped, twisting it and making the man scream out in pain. You punched him square in the face, a tooth flying off as he spit blood. He falls down to the ground, just like the previous guy.
You attempt to chase the last one that scampered away. The quiet woosh sounded in the air made you hault. A small brick, you saw, flew over you and it hit the guy right on the head.
Anddd he's out. No, he's not dead. I think.
Tai'chi, (who else would've made that shot?) just saved you the trouble of running again. You doubt you could even reach the guy, you'd pass the fuck out within 50 meters.
You exhaled loudly, your hands on your hips as you let your body come down from another rush of adrenaline.
For like, five goddamn times now. You just can't catch a break today for fuck's sake!
While you were cursing every wicked thing out there, a whimper reached your ears, immediately silencing your thoughts.
Ah, right, the girl.
"P-Please don't h-hurt me." She cried out, her scent was heavy in fear, terrified as she stared at the orc who stood beside a man that lay unconscious at his feet. You ran to her, holding her face in your hands as you force her to look at you. The girl was trembling, her body flinching away when you touched her.
"Shh...shh... It's okay, it's alright, you're safe now. Calm down. Take deep breaths for me okay?" you assured. She nods and does what you say, breathing in and out in repeat until her scent changed slightly, though the fear was still there, her trembling turned into light shivers.
"He's a friend. He will not harm you."
You glanced at the orc, your eyes landing on Tai'chi smiled, which he returned with a small nod.
You helped her stand up and put back her things in the bag. Her phone was still in the area, luckily, the guy must've dropped it when he ran away.
Once that was done, the girl hugged you tight, taking you by surprise. You weren't used to this sort of physical contact, at least in a non-violent way.
"Thank you for saving me. H-How can I repay you, miss?"
"Oh no, no, no need to do that. I only did what was right. Just be careful next time when going home alone okay?"
"I insist, p-please let me repay you!" she pressed and you pulled back to look at her.
"No. Really. It's okay, you're okay now."
"But—"
"How about thanking my friend then?" You motioned to Tai'chi who was leaning his weight against the wall, watching you both silently.
"H-Him?"
"Yes, him. His name is Tai'chi and I'm PearI. I want you to thank him."
"But he's—"
"An orc. Is there a problem with that? No. Now listen here, girl, race doesn't fucking matter." You said as you took her hands and squeezed them. "Everything and everyone has a good and a bad side to them, no matter their kind. Do you remember who attacked you? Humans. Our own flesh and blood. Never judge anyone from what they look like, that and thanking him is enough as your payment."
She stared at you with wide eyes, nodding after a moment when she took in your words. She approached the orc, stopping a few feet away and thanked him, shyly peeking up at his face.
"You're welcome," Tai'chi smiled.

Teaching Assistant 12
Loki his lads turn out to be rather nice. Evan has short haze hair and deep brown eyes. He is tall and lean like Loki but with much fewer muscles. He is a dom and does a lot of pet play with his partner. He is rather playful and a bit of a clown but a very loyal one.
Luke has blonde hair and blue eyes. Not as tall as Loki but he has more muscle which makes him look bulky. He is kind and sweet as he is a Daddy Dom. You knew pretty quickly that he would be one of your favourites.
James is tall, dark and handsome. He is a sadist and seems the most dangerous but Loki told you you had nothing to worry about. James is a fair man and straightforward.
Micheal is quieter and he is a switch. He has a Mistress at the moment and is quite soft. He is very caring towards everyone. He has short black hair and dark brown eyes. He has dark skin and quite some muscle on him.
Loki walks towards the couch and sits down with you still wrapped around him like a monkey. ‘’Hello there, what is your name,’’ Luke asks who is sitting next to Loki. ‘’I’m Y/N,’’ you whisper back at him. Hesitantly you shake his hand and then hide in Loki’s neck. ‘’She’s a shy one,’’ Luke chuckles. Loki tells you all of their names and ‘titles’ but just leaves it there.
‘’How is Eliza,’’ Loki then asks Micheal while slightly rocking you. ‘’She’s great, we’re thinking maybe take a sub,’’ he beams. ‘’For real,’’ Luke asks with a smile. ‘’Yeah… John might know a girl for us but that is still in early stages.’’ ‘’Still,’’ Evan chimes in, ‘’big step even thinking about it.’’ Micheal just nods this time and sips his beers.
‘’But, back to this cutie. How did you meet,’’ James asks with a smirk. ‘’She wrote some rubbish BDSM stories and so I offered to teach her the ropes,’’ Loki simply explains. ‘’She then turned out to be a little… I think. We are figuring this out at our own pace.’’ You only nod a little looking around the room.
‘’Loki?’’ Loki looks at you and kisses your cheeks. ‘’Yes dear?’’ ‘’You promised me a bath,’’ you pout looking at him. ‘’That is true. Be a good girl now and then I’ll allow you a nice bath tonight, huh?’’ He kisses under your ear which causes you to giggle.
‘’Okay,’’ you mumble and nuzzle your face into his neck. Loki chuckles but then goes back to the conversation with his friends. They drink some beers and chat. You eventually mingle in some conversation. Your answers stay short. It’s a little daunting to be in a room full of men.
Eventually it is Luke who walks to a cupboard in the corner. He opens the doors and frowns. “I could have sworn you had a bunch of board games here,” he calls. Loki stands up after peeling you off of his lap. He takes a look at the cupboard as well, as if he had forgotten he even had it. “I think those are downstairs as well. I didn’t use them much anymore.” He then walks towards the table next to the front door to grab his key chain. This strikes you as odd. You sit up a little to take a better look at what he is doing.
“Luke, we can go grab them from storage,” he explains and holds up his keys as he opens the door. Immediately you shoot up from the couch. Quickly you grab his arm and look up at him. You try to beg him to stay with your eyes alone.
“You can come with me, dear, don’t worry.” He places a kiss on your hair and rubs your back. He tells the other lads he’ll be back in a few minutes. You go into the lift all the way down to the storage area. You hadn’t been here before yet.
Loki confidently guides you to the right storage box once underground. Even the storage boxes in this building are posh. It nearly looks like these are flats as well. The ground is hard wood and the hallways are rather light.
Loki finds his box and opens the door. He flicks on the light. Together you walk in. Luke immediately looks out a few board games. You are more so occupied with other things. Loki has quite some storage cabinets with files, old books and boxes stored in them. Everything is in a set place so the storage box is very neat. There is one storage rack with large moving boxes. Some of them have kink labels on them. One has BONDAGE written on it in Loki’s neat handwriting. Others have things such as Masochism/Sadism, Impact, Humiliation, Non-Con and there was a box with Age play written on it.
You want to pull out a box to take a look but Loki catches you. He wraps his arm around you and kisses your shoulder. “What are you looking at?” You giggle as he does and you point at the label of the box, Non-Con. He chuckles and pushes the box back into the rack. “We’ll talk about that later, love.” He pulls you away from the boxes and towards the rack with a collection of board games.
“I was just curious,” you counter as you look through the games. You feel a bit more comfortable now that it is only Luke along.
“That’s good to hear,” Loki replies as he pats your bum playfully. You just start browsing through the games together with the other men. You pull out a few that seem fun and hold those under your arm.
When everyone has a few Loki calls it quit and you guys go back upstairs. When you return to the flat the others cheer a little overexcited. Their arms are up in the air with their hands in fists. You put the games on the counter and look at the ones Loki and Luke grabbed.
James joins you as well to take a look at them. “What would you like to play,” he asks as he also starts to browse. You then see Loki or Luke had grabbed The Game Of Life. You pick it and take it to Loki. “Can we play this one,” you ask in a small voice as you lean into his side. He takes it from you and let’s you hide your head in his arms. He agrees and starts setting up the game. You quickly pick your favourite colour pin before the others choose theirs.
“Loki,” you whisper. You sit tightly against him with your arm around his. “After this game I’m going home. Early morning tomorrow.” He kisses your forehead as you tell him this.
“Of course. Whatever you need.” You cuddle a little closer and start the game. It’s fun to play with the other men as well. It helps you let loose a little more. You do stay close to Loki but you manage to talk a little more now.
When the game is over you grab your stuff. You are absolutely exhausted. It was late already and you had an early class. You were dreading the drive home but knew you had to. You didn’t want to stay over at Loki’s. No matter how nice it was, everything was moving very quickly and you needed your space and boundaries.
Loki brings you downstairs and helps you seek out your motorcycle. He notices you rubbing your eyes and moving a bit slowly. “Can you drive back yourself or do you need me to drive you?” Quickly you shake your head.
“No, I can do it myself. I need my bike at home and I don’t want to risk someone seeing us.” Loki reluctantly agrees and then presses a gentle kiss on your lips. He rarely kissed you there so it took you a little by surprise.
“See you tomorrow. Be a good girl and sleep tight.” He also kisses your nose after saying that and pulls you a little closer.
“You too. I will be.”
“I will who,” he asks you as he pulls you a little closer to him again.
You put your arms around his shoulders and get on your tippy toes. “I will be good… Daddy.”
A pleased smirk creeps on Loki’s lips. “Good girl.” After that and a last kiss you get on your back and start the drive home.
Once you’re on the road the fatigue really starts to catch up with you. Your eyes feel heavy and you can’t concentrate on the road as much as you would like. The lights appear much brighter and cloud your vision.
Luckily you live close by. Just one more traffic light and a few more turns. The intersection, however, was a busy one. When you arrived you were shocked to find it was broken. There was no one directing the traffic anymore either because it was so late in the evening. No other vehicle is approaching so when it seems clear you cross over.
When you nearly reach the other side of the intersection a small car suddenly comes from around the corner. It was going very fast. It hit the breaks but it was too late. It hit you. You are knocked off your bike and hit the pavement. You land on your collarbone. The air is knocked from your lungs as you are thrown across the asphalt. Eventually you come to a stop when you hit one of the traffic light poles. You gasp for air but the shock prevents you from breathing for a moment. Eventually you’re able to suck in some air again and start to couch.
The driver from the car runs up to you. He has his phone against his ear. You can’t hear what he’s saying. Your ears are ringing. The street lights blur your vision more than before. You can feel yourself slipping into unconsciousness.
You try to stay awake. You count to ten, list the names of the days of the week, list up the classes  you take at Uni and recall your phone number.
The blinds from your helmet are popped open. An ambulance worker is in sight. He calls something to his college but you still can’t hear him. You’re too out of it to worry about anything.
Eventually the ringing becomes less when the ambulance worker sits down next to you again. He is a middle aged black man.
“Stay with me dear, we’re gonna get you to the hospital,” he tells you but you don’t reply. He shines a light in your eyes. You try to squint and look away from it.
Now that the adrenaline starts to fade you start to feel the pain. Your entire body aches. Your collarbone and ribs in particular.
Quickly you are hauled into an ambulance. Once in there you get a neck brace and your helmet is removed. They soon start padding at your head, take a blood sample and give you an IV. You can only watch as they work on your.
The pain starts to fade away again when the IV is connected to some bag of fluids. The ambulance workers kept telling you things but it didn’t register. You felt so terribly tired. You just wanted to go to sleep. You didn’t. You started to count again and name the days of the week. You look outside and see the trees, flats and street lights pass.
Eventually you get to the hospital. They roll you out of the ambulance and into the ER. They got you into a room where they started their tests. One woman then looked you in your eyes and smiled. “I’m doctor Nelson, I’m gonna take good care of you. What’s your name?” You choked out your name and started to cry.
“I’m gonna take good care of you Y/N,” doctor Nelson replies. “Is there anyone I can call for you?” You tell her no and then she joins the other people working on you. The next thing they did was take an X-ray of your chest. They then checked your neck and took off the brace when you were cleared. A doctor looked at the X-ray.
They discussed some discussion doctor Nelson addressed you again. “Your left collarbone is broken. It’s a complicated break so you need surgery. Do you consent to that?” You quickly do and only a moment later you are brought to the surgery room. Once in there they put you to sleep.
The anesthesiologist tells you to count to ten for him. You start for him. A bright light is shining above you and doctors in scrubs start to come in. The closer you get to ten the more blurred everything becomes. Your eyes feel heavy and soon they close.

Masterlist for the other prompts! Go read!
Full Name: (y/f/n) Quirk: Summoner; user can create a pact with and summon demons from hell to aid them in battle. Age: 20
Tumblr media
In this odd world where more than 80% of the population had a quirk, you were no different. Over the years, quirks had evolved from simple things like levitating to be able to take things apart with just a touch from your finger.
Your own quirk was nothing short of odd and weird. According to your mother, an ancestor of yours practiced dark magic, leading her to become a witch. She had dabbled in it enough to give your family line the ability to summon demons. Unfortunately, somehow that ability turned into a quirk and you had very little control over it.
Your mother, who was a pro hero, used to tell you stories about being able to summon demons to aid her in battle. However, that was something that terrified you. You’d seen the demons your mother was able to summon, they were horrifying, disfigured, powerful, and huge.
From an early age, you’d decided never to use your quirk. Not even to summon little helper demons. You wanted nothing to do with them and you told your mom how you felt. Although she was disappointed, she accepted your decision regardless. Due to this, you never learned how to use your abilities, ever.
You were sorely regretting that decision now.
You were on your way home from a late-night shift at work when you could hear footsteps behind you. Obviously, it wasn’t very alarming at first, but you could swear you heard them talking about you. They described your outfit perfectly.
You could feel the uneasiness set in, your heart was beating out of your chest and your palms were sweating. You felt your breathing speed up and any bit of hope was fleeting. Multiple scenarios filled your head and none of them ended well. Recently, villain activity had spiked and numerous people were getting attacked later at night. You had just asked today to have your shift changed to day time and your boss had told you he’d be willing to switch you with another coworker, but you wouldn’t be able to start for three more days. Would you even make it till tomorrow?
You didn’t know who to call, it was late, meaning your mother was no doubt asleep, so she wouldn’t be able to help you. You fished your phone out of your (purse/bag) and quickly dialed the police. Before you were able to put the phone to your ear, it was snatched out of your hand and you felt yourself get shoved into an alley. Your screams were immediately muffled by a hand on your mouth.
The dread built up in your chest when you saw three, tall men crowd around you with the fourth holding you in place. Tears slid down your cheeks when they laughed at how helpless you were.
Struggling was futile, they were too strong, especially the one holding you. No matter what you did, his grip never loosened and you were getting tired. Finally, without seeing any light of hope, you gave in. You stopped struggling and let them do whatever they wanted.
“They’ll do fine. Take them to the van.” The fear spiked again and you fought back. You screamed and struggled when they started to drag you away to their vehicle, but everything was in vain, just as before.
Why didn’t you learn? Why didn’t you ever ask your mom for help? Why were you always so scared? Even if you were scared, you should’ve asked her to teach you something in case of emergencies. Your mother was known for her ability to summon battle class demons, one’s who specialized in fighting and defense. You needed that. You desperately needed one.
Now, look at you, the child of a powerful hero who had inherited the exact same abilities, about to get kidnapped and you couldn’t even put up a fight.
Tears of regret, remorse, and fear rolled down your cheeks as they opened the door to their black van. They dragged you closer and the only thought that crossed your mind was a small, weak plea.
Help!
Your eyes started to glow bright (e/c) as they shoved you into the van causing you to trip and fall into another pair of arms that wrapped around you. The villains froze and backed up, making your fear intensify.
However, the arms that were around you weren’t very tight and it didn’t feel like they were holding you down. They felt almost protective. A scent similar to lavender and something citrusy surrounded you and it was... comforting?
“Are you alright, master?” Your head snapped to the voice and a man with wild purple hair and lilac eyes stared down at you.
“M-master?” You stuttered out as he gently moved out of the van. The villains were too stunned to move, so when you were out of the way, two large swords appeared in his hands.
“Ready to die?” The villains finally scattered, running in different directions, but they weren’t able to get very far because red and black chains spurted from the ground and wrapped around their torsos. They all collapsed with a loud thud, their bodies hitting the floors. As they struggled, the chains started to move upwards, wrapping around their entire bodies.
You watched in fear as the demon stalked towards them. You took note of the large red and black wings that sat on his back. You weren’t able to see his expression, but the expression of the villain below him… that terrified you. You watched as the demon raised his sword up high and plunged it into the villain’s chest.
Your hand flew to your mouth as your back hit the cold metal of the van. You wanted to scream, you wanted to run, you wanted to call for help, but you were frozen, unable to move anything. It felt like you weren’t even in your own body. Nothing but a silent gasp escaped your mouth.
The villain’s body quickly turned to dust and the chains hit the ground. The demon continued until he’d killed the other three and you watched as the chains slowly melted into the ground and disappeared.
Your eyes finally met with the killer’s and they were glowing bright pink, slowly returning to a soft lilac. He looked like a normal human aside from the large wings on his back, which had little tears and cuts in them. He was shirtless, but on his wrists, you noticed golden shackles that glimmered until the moonlight. The chains hung loosely, making it seem like he’d broken free of wherever he’d been held. His lilac hair stood on ends, moving around almost as if it were floating.
“Are you alright, master?” He inquired, keeping still where he stood. Unable to speak, you slowly lowered your shaking hand which had been on your mouth and nodded. “May I approach?”
“Wh-who a-are-”
“My name is Hitoshi Shinsou,” he bowed at the waist, “I’m an executioner demon. It’s a pleasure to meet you, master.”
“Wh-what?” He slowly approached you, now standing only a couple of feet away.
“Let’s get you home first.” You’d seen your mother and father interact with these demons plenty of times. They usually never meant their masters any harm, since they were the only way for the demons to see the light of day. Executioner demons weren’t very… friendly. They were dangerous and as their name stated, they were killers.
Demons all had different classes, the tamest and most pleasant were the helper demons. Usually they were summoned to do as their names suggested, help out. The next tier was defense demons, usually larger demons built to take hits upon hits without tiring. After that came attack demons, something your mother specialized in. She was known for having the most powerful attack demons, which made her an amazing hero. Then the last tier, something even she didn’t mess with. Executioner demons.
Executioner demons were very unpredictable and usually weren’t very nice. They were bloodthirsty and unless you wanted to be a villain, they were useless.
“O-ok.” You quietly answered, not wanting to anger him further. He moved closer and picked you up in his arms. Once he had a steady grip, his wings flapped and he was able to take to the skies, flying straight towards your apartment.
You were silent, still trying to figure out how you were able to summon such a high-risk demon so easily, without hurting yourself in the process. You’d have to call your mother in the morning and find out how to deal with this demon.
Within a few minutes, he’d brought you home and was setting you down on your bed. He could see that you were on edge about him being there, but he stayed silent. Instead, he helped you remove your shoes and jacket. He took your pajamas out of your closet and set them on your bed before grabbing what you had just removed.
“I’ll put these where they belong. Please get changed while I’m gone.” Without waiting for your reply, he left the room. With a shaky hand, you reached to grab your pajamas and removed your current clothing. You slid on your pajamas and sat back on your bed, waiting for the demon to return.
The house felt colder and there was a weird uncomfortable feeling you had in your chest. You often remember feeling like this when your mother’s demons were around the house. The atmosphere grew cold and sometimes you didn’t even feel like you were home.
Except, this demon didn’t feel threatening. Not to you, anyways. He was extremely handsome and his voice was rather soothing. Aside from the shackles on his wrists and the large wings on his back… he wasn’t all that scary, either.
“Thank you.” You jumped when you saw the demon standing in your doorway with a smile on his face.
“Wh-what?”
“You called me handsome and said my voice was soothing. So, thank you.” Did… did you talk out loud? Your face turned a deep shade of red and it made him chuckle. “It’s our connection, look.” He turned around and you finally got a good look at his rather toned back. Aside from the divots and curves of his muscles and his large wings, you saw the medium-sized symbol in between where his wings sprouted out.
It was a circle separated in six pieces with each piece holding a weird symbol. It seemed as if the entire symbol was being pierced by a spear. It was a dark red color and it seemed extremely familiar to you, even though you’d never seen it before.
“What is that?” He turned around, facing you again.
“That’s our mark. When you summoned me, it branded me with this mark and it means I am now at your service.”
“F-for l-like my soul?” He shook his head.
“Nothing like that. Our wish is to see the human world, especially mine. You granted my wish therefore I shall serve you. This mark is also called a connection. When you give me an order, it’ll glow. It also allows me to read your mind.”
Oh. So you hadn’t spoken up, he just looked into your head.
“P-please don’t do that again.”
“Understood. Do I have your permission to read your mind in emergency situations?” You thought for a moment, he was already agreeing to your terms? Without putting up any sort of fight? Demons were known for being manipulative, so is that what he was doing? Your mother never dealt with that.
“O-ok. Sure.” He bowed his head with a smile.
“Thank you. How are you feeling? Are you hurt?” You took a moment to finally look down at yourself, you hadn’t even realized if you had been injured. Were you hurt? After sliding your hands around your arms, legs, sides, you shook your head.
“I’m ok.” He walked closer to you, forcing you to lay down and pulled the covers over you.
“Then rest. Summoning me took a lot out of you and you don’t realize it. Worry not, master. I will be here when you awaken.” Could you trust him? Could you let yourself be so vulnerable in front of this unknown demon?
It didn’t matter much, because within seconds your eyes were already drooping. You weren’t able to stay awake, even if you wanted to. Your body felt so heavy and exhausted, how come you didn’t notice it earlier?
He sat on the floor and leaned over your bed, his fingers gently sliding against your cheek. You were too weak to even push him off, but there was an odd emotion building up. Comfort? His hand was cold against your warm cheeks but it was a nice feeling. You sighed in content as you closed your eyes.
Shinsou gently caressed your cheek as you slowly fell into a deep sleep. As promised, he stayed by your side all night, keeping you safe. The next morning, when you woke up, he was right where you’d left him.
“Good morning, master. Sleep well?” Actually, you had. It had been a long while since you’d had a good night’s rest like that. Was it because of him? Did Shinsou’s presence help you rest easy? Or were you so exhausted that your body had a more restful sleep.
You only nodded silently and he helped you to your feet, before walking you to the bathroom.
“Take your time. I’ll have breakfast ready by the time you’re done.”
“Ok, thank you.” With that he walked out of your room and towards the kitchen, while you went into the bathroom to shower. So last night wasn’t a dream. It had all happened and you were now stuck with a demon? Maybe there was a way to send him back, your mother would know for sure.
You took a quick shower and brushed your teeth before coming back out and finding your phone from your (purse/bag). You quickly called your mom and waited impatiently for her to pick up.
“Hello?”
“Mom? I-I summoned a demon. I don’t know what to do, he says he’s an executioner class demon. How do I get rid of him? What am I supposed to do-”
“Honey, calm down. I can’t understand anything. Take a deep breath and then tell me slowly. What happened?”
“I summoned a demon.”
***
“So you are?” Your mother asked, looking at the demon that stood next to you. Currently, both you and your mother were sitting at the dining table, having some tea while your demon stood behind you, quietly.
“My name is Hitoshi Shinsou. I am an executioner demon. A pleasure to meet you.”
“Well, he’s pleasant, at least. My name is (m/n) and this is my child, you already know them.” He gave her a curt nod. “He’ll be here for a certain amount of time, since you didn’t make a proper pact with him.”
“How long?” You asked, sipping the tea.
“I’m not sure. I would say about two, maybe two and a half weeks.” You almost choked on your tea.TWO WEEKS?! That’s a long time!
“T-two w-weeks?”
“Normally when you make a pact with them, meaning you summoned them on purpose, they stay as long as you want. However, you invited him through fear. Your fear brought out a rather powerful demon, which isn’t a bad thing necessarily. Your fear is currently grounding him here.”
“Mom, I’m not a hero like you…”
“I understand, but you shouldn’t throw away this opportunity.” You’d always wanted to be a hero… but your own quirk scared you. How were you supposed to save other people while still fearing yourself?
There wasn’t much your mother could do, aside from tell you to give the demon a chance. Shinsou was… pretty helpful actually. He wasn’t overly violent, he was pretty careful too, always obeying all of your demands without any arguments.
Having him around almost made you question why you were so scared to begin with. Why were you so scared? You were a child when your mother would summon them, never in front of you, of course, but you’d end up seeing them. They were large, hulking masses and to a little child, they were terrifying.
But… how come Shinsou wasn’t? You’d only ever seen disfigured and odd looking demons before, never a human-esque one. The only humanoid you’d seen when you were younger was a demon called Elvath. She was a powerful offensive demon, she had the body of a woman which was all grey. It seemed as if her skin were her clothes and she had a large set of wings and preferred to fly. On top of that, she had no face, but her voice was always as clear as day.
“Shinsou?”
“Yes, Master?” He asked, looking up at you. He was currently helping you fold your laundry and he was an amazing helper. Not to mention he was a great cook.
“How come… you’re so normal looking?”
“How do you mean?”
“You look like a human. I’ve seen so many of you but they were always so… scary.” He smiled a little, looking down at the clothes he was helping you with.
“We all look different. There are plenty powerful or weaker demons that look more human. Some even choose to look disfigured over their normal human looking bodies. Fear fuels us and since your family is the only one who can summon and control us, there’s plenty of fear for us to harvest.”
“Harvest?” He nodded.
“When you get scared, you let off a distressed aura, most humans do. We feed on that. It makes us more powerful, especially over the human that we’re targeting. That’s why your mother can control us so well, she doesn’t fear us.”
“Wh-what about m-me?” He chuckled a little, sending a shiver up your spine.
“Your stutter says it all, master.”
“You feed off of my fear?”
“Nothing like that. I can, but I choose not to. I’m here to help you, not make things worse for you.”
“How… Did I summon you anyway?” He paused and looked at you before his lilac eyes started glowing pink. You backed up as he moved closer, until you had nowhere to go. As you stared into his eyes, your world started to melt away and it seemed as if you were watching a movie.
You saw Shinsou walking around a rocky region, the sky was red and you could see fire and smoke in the distance. He didn’t seem worried in the slightest, but you watched as golden beams shot down around him. He immediately covered his face as the two shackles appeared on his wrists. When you looked up at the source of the light, you saw a bright blue sky, with cotton like clouds peering down at you. It was beautiful compared to where he was currently.
Shinsou didn’t fight it, instead, he let the magic take him, pulling him out of hell and bringing him to you.
The purple-haired demon backed away from you as his eyes returned to their natural lilac. You were silent for a moment, taking in everything you’d just seen. That’s how he’d been brought here? Against his will?
“I-I’m sorry…” You whispered and he knew exactly what you meant. He shook his head, reaching out and brushing your hair back.
“It’s alright. I prefer to be out here anyway. You caught a glimpse of my home, it’s not that pretty. Most of us like being out here, so what if we have to serve a human? We’ll outlive you anyway.”
You looked down at his words, continuing to fold your laundry. How old was he? He must’ve been down there for years, right? Was it lonely? Did it hurt? How bad was hell? You’d heard a million and one things about it and here was your chance to finally learn.
“What’s it like? Down there?”
For the rest of the day, you and Shinsou talked about what his home was like. After hearing everything, you were determined to find a better place for yourself. Maybe… having him around wasn’t so bad after all.
***
Over the next few days, you felt yourself letting your guard down around Shinsou. He was still kind as ever, willing to help you out with whatever you needed. You’d asked him a few times why he was so obedient and he never really gave you a straight answer. Aside from just saying because you were his master. You knew for a fact you were too weak to control him, yet here he was, bending to your every will.
Why? There wasn’t a real reason… So what was he doing? Executioner demons needed to kill. Their bloodthirst wasn’t just for show, they needed to kill to keep from losing control. Yet, here he was, doing menial tasks for a weak human.
However, these last few days were a bit eye opening for you. You had gotten much closer with Shinsou and you started to realize why your mother worked with demons to begin with. They weren’t that bad, actually. Shinsou was… definitely something else.
“Hey, w-wait!” You giggled as you reached for the rag in his hand. He laughed a little as he raised it over his head, making you lean against him in an effort to try to get it. Your laughter melded together as you reached and reached, forgetting how close you two had gotten.
You froze when you saw Shinsou’s face inches away from yours. His own eyes widened, his lilac orbs drifting down to your lips. Your hand slowly came down and landed on his chest as you now leaned your body weight against him. You unconsciously leaned in, but he made no effort to move. He knew humans did something like this, they liked to kiss each other, but he’d never experienced such a thing.
As your lips got closer and closer, he felt something build up in his chest. It wasn’t a good feeling. When you were centimeters away from kissing, he turned his head and backed away from you.
“Forgive me.” Was all he said as he held the rag out to you. You frowned, feeling the embarrassment creep up as you silently took the object away from him. Shinsou didn’t speak, instead, he only bowed his head a little and walked away to the kitchen to prepare for lunch.
The entire day, you couldn’t get what had happened out of your head. You found it difficult to look at Shinsou and, unfortunately, your walls returned once again. That was something Shinsou didn’t like. You were nicer than his other masters, but you were the most closed off. You barely talked to him and instead of treating him like the slave that he was supposed to be, you treated him as an equal and he didn’t know how to feel about it.
He didn’t know what to do when he’d see you. There were plenty of times where he’d feel something deep inside his chest when he saw your sleeping face. He could feel the heat build-up in his cheeks when he saw you giggle at something, or when you’d wear a cute outfit that day, or when you did literally anything.
Before meeting you, Shinsou never saw the appeal in kissing. He thought it was something stupid humans did and just the thought made him cringe. But earlier… when his face was so close he could smell the sweet scent you gave off, something weird happened. He felt the need to lean in and capture those soft lips of yours. It was intense, actually. He had barely been able to control himself, almost like his bloodthirst.
As the days went by, it was getting closer and closer for Shinsou to leave. According to your mother, Shinsou was only going to be around for about two and a half weeks and it had already been 14 days. Meaning, he only had three or four more days and you couldn’t handle that.
Shinsou was still professional,  he’d always been that way. But there were moments where he wasn’t. There were moments where he, too, let his guard down. Every single night, Shinsou would sit on the ground next to your bed as you slept, in an attempt to keep you safe. It helped, often. You wouldn’t know it, but when you turned to face Shinsou, he would lay his head next to yours and just… watch you.
Something about your face made him feel happy. Seeing your innocent face made him feel less of a monster than he always was. Shinsou knew how much blood he had on his hands and it didn’t usually haunt him, but he could feel the weight of it at times. All of that disappeared when he saw you.
Shinsou liked to reach out, letting his thumb brush against your soft skin. It didn’t take long for the demon to realize he was in a lot of trouble. He wanted to stay, but not because he’d gotten his wish to see the outside world. Because he couldn’t bear to leave you alone. You had friends, sure, but they weren’t trustworthy in his eyes. Shinsou didn’t want to trust some other demon with someone as precious as you. He needed to stay… he was going to stay.
You weren’t strong enough to send him back, not like your mother would’ve been able to if she accidentally summoned him. Meaning, if Shinsou wanted to stay, he could easily make that happen. The mark was already starting to disappear, so your hold on him was getting weaker and weaker. For once in his life, Shinsou didn’t want to kill or hurt anything. He just wanted to protect something that made his heart beat faster than any adrenaline rush he’d ever felt before.
“Master?” Shinsou said, sitting up. It was about 2 am and you were fast asleep, when Shinsou saw you stir uncomfortably. He saw you shift multiple times, he saw the way you gripped the sheets and the way your face contorted. His hands reached out and gently grabbed your shoulders as he carefully shook you out of your nightmare.
Your eyes shot open, a scream erupting from your lips. Your eyes met his concerned ones and you slowly breathed in relief. You had a nightmare about a disfigured creature chasing after you. It was so fast and you couldn’t do much except call out to Shinsou, however, he didn’t answer you.
“Master, it’s alright. It was just a nightmare.” He soothed, sitting on the edge of your bed and moving the sheets off of you. You slowly sat up, letting the cool breeze from the open window bring down your temperature a bit. Shinsou grabbed the glass of water from your nightstand and held it out to you. You normally never kept any water nearby, but Shinsou did. Just in case.
“I… I,” after taking a few sips you tried to explain your nightmare to him. “I was running away from… something. Some big, scary creature, and I was calling out for you. B-but you n-never came.” He pushed your hair back as he took the cup away from you and placed it back on the nightstand.
“I would never leave you in a situation like that, master. Whenever you call, I’ll answer. No matter what.” Having Shinsou around changed you a little, you were less wary of people. You were more confident and you were able to rely on someone else for once.
You knew you had developed feelings for the demon, it wasn’t hard to tell. He was always making your heart beat faster than ever, he always made you blush, and you liked it when he teased you or flirted. Whenever he called you cute, you loved it. You needed more of it.
“Thank you, Shinsou.” You said as you looked out the window. Four nights and three days. That’s all you had with him. That’s all you had with the demon you’d fallen in love with. The more you thought about it, the more you wanted to be a hero. Shinsou could teach you to fight and so could your mother. You could form a real pact with him and he could help you save people.
Being a hero was always inside you somewhere, but you pushed it down. Deep down. Being a hero wasn’t for you, or so you thought. Getting rid of a powerful demon like Shinsou was a bad idea. He was obedient, meaning he would never kill anyone you don’t want him to. However, you were still so hesitant and you weren’t sure if he even wanted to stay. Shinsou was a killer and you weren’t. You two didn’t really match. An attack demon like Elvath was better, she was a fighter, but not a killer.
“You should rest, master, come.” Shinsou helped you lay down but when he went to sit on the ground, you caught his arm.
“Hold me.” It wasn’t a question or a request. Normally, you’d ask Shinsou for stuff. You rarely ever commanded him, but it didn’t matter this time. Your demon didn’t want to refuse your order. Without saying anything, he laid down next, readjusting you a bit so that one of his wings was under you. He pulled the sheets up to you and laid his other wing on top of you, protectively. Finally, he pulled you into his chest, his heat spreading to you.
Shinsou was usually cold, being the demon that he was. However, when he used his magic a little, his body would heat up like a furnace. He’d be just the perfect temperature to warm you up, not to mention how his wings would help the heat build-up. You almost didn’t need the blanket.
You pressed your body against him, closing your eyes and inhaling his scent. He ran a hand through your hair to help soothe you and you felt your fears melt away.
Man, you’d really gone and fallen in love with a demon, huh? Out of all the humans around you, you chose the Executioner demon.
***
The last few days were spent together. You and Shinsou were… much more closer. You almost regretted waiting so long. Actually, you did regret waiting so long, because he was leaving tonight.
Right now, you were snuggled up to Shinsou watching your favorite movie. When it ended, you were going to perform the small ritual to send him back. It was nothing too difficult and you’d rehearsed it with your mother plenty of times.
You’d miss Shinsou. You’d miss every time he teased you, you’d miss the nights he’d sit next to you while you slept, you’d miss making meals with him, you’d miss hearing his soothing voice, you’d miss his arms around you, you’d miss his distinct scent, you’d miss having another person around… and you’d really miss the demon you’d fallen in love with.
There was no denying it at this point. You had asked your mother if sending Shinsou back would hurt his feelings and she let you know they had none. Most demons didn’t rely on emotions due to them thinking it made them weak. You never asked Shinsou, personally, but the way he acted, it seemed like he didn’t care either. Just like your mother had said.
Little did you know, Shinsou had been dreading tonight. He hated the idea of returning to his home, cold and alone. You had made him feel things he’d never felt before. You made him happy, something he didn’t even know he could feel. He didn’t know what to do. So far, you still wanted him to leave. Would it be right for him to reject the ritual? Would it be right for him to stay here, even though you didn’t want him to? Everything you’d given him… you’d be taking it away when you sent him back.
You frowned when you saw the movie finally come to an end. As the credits rolled, you tried your best to keep your tears down. Shinsou already knew you were weak, you didn’t need to act like it.
As the two of you prepared to send him back, you were both silent. You looked over to Shinsou every now and then but saw no emotion on his face. He… really didn’t care?
Shinsou drew the symbol on the ground as you set up the candles. You were performing the ritual right in your living room, he’d helped you move some of your stuff out of the way.
Once everything was ready, you turned off the lights and Shinsou lit the candles. He stood in the center of the symbol and you stood in front of him. You found the piece of paper with the instructions and words your mother had written for you.
“Ready?” You asked, looking up at him. One last try, right?
“I am.” You immediately looked down, desperately trying to hide your disappointment and breaking heart. Your eyes drifted over the letters as you began to read them aloud. Your eyes and Shinsou’s mark started to glow before his own eyes turned a light pink. As you repeat the spell over and over, the symbol on the ground turned into a black and red quicksand. Shadowy hands reached out and grabbed onto the chains of the shackles on his wrists. They also wrapped around his feet and grabbed his legs.
The atmosphere had changed. It had gotten colder and you felt a sense of fear starting to creep in. That was a portal straight to hell. You could hear the screams of agony and trauma echoing in your house and it hurt. It physically hurt to hear their screams. However, your focus was switched to your demon quickly.
You watched with a frown as they tugged him down, which seemed to hurt him. Was he in pain? Did the ritual physically hurt him? Only one word ran through your mind, over and over again. You silently begged him to read your mind like he’d done the first time. You silently begged him to do or say anything else. You needed him to stay. You needed him to lay with you every night, you needed him to help you cook meals, clean your house, spend time with you. You needed him.
Shinsou’s glowing pink eyes looked up at you one last time. Your eyes met his and that same word repeated over and over in your head. Shinsou knew you hated it, but he… he needed to see what you were feeling. He needed to see what you were thinking. So he looked and was shocked when he heard your voice in his head.
Reject
You didn’t want him to leave? You… you wanted him to stay! His eyes widened and for once you saw actual emotion in them. You saw the fear coursing through his being, you saw the regret and remorse.
Shinsou had an order now. He let out a loud growl as his powerful wings started to push him up and away from the ritual circle. You watched berry pink mist emit from his body, which started to glow. The bright colors started to appear on his skin, as if they were seeping through. They crawled along his wings too.
You watched in awe as he tore himself from the powerful grip the ritual had on him. The mist from his body swirled and flew down into the symbol and you watched as the portal to hell started to close. The screams intensified, almost as if it was a maniac screaming demands. They were almost incoherent, but they were terrifying. You dropped the paper as you covered your ears with shaky hands. They were so loud and bone-shaking, you had no idea what to do! Is this what your mother dealt with? Is this what Shinsou had to deal with?
The portal finally closed and everything went deathly silent. Your senses returned and you could hear the flapping of Shinsou’s wings as he landed back on the symbol. Your eyes met and he spoke, making your heart soar.
“Please don’t send me back, (f/n).” Hearing him say your name as opposed to calling you master was nice. It wasn’t him addressing you as someone higher than him, it was him addressing you as a friend. Someone he felt equal to.
You held your hands out to him, calling him over. He wasted no time before quickly engulfing you in a warm hug, his wings wrapping around you protectively.
“I’m sorry!” You cried out, unable to hold back the tears that slid down your cheeks. “I’m so sorry! I-I d-didn’t want you to l-leave, but I thought you’d be b-better off wi-with a stronger master.” Shinsou chuckled, taking your face in his hands and gazing deep into your eyes.
“I only want you, (f/n). No one else. I want to protect you and keep you safe for as long as time will let me.” His thumbs gently brushed away the tears that slid down your warm cheeks.
You felt the same pull as you did that one day. You were scared, you didn’t want to drive him away. But you didn’t have to do anything, not this time.
Shinsou leaned down, his lips capturing yours. It was soft and gentle, something that didn’t match the demon in front of you. Executioner demons were the opposite of soft and gentle, yet here stood one in front of you, treating you as if you were glass.
His lips melded with yours so perfectly. His pace was slow, allowing your scattered mind to keep up with him. One of his hands let go of your face and wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to him. When you pulled away, you were breathless, but not speechless.
“Will you make a pact with me, Hitoshi?”
“Of course, master.”
