THE FINAL CHAPTER IS HERE!

Chapter 41 -- The One With the Final Epilogue

Well, this is it! THE FINAL LAST EPILOGUE AND LAST CHAPTER of my world of Kismet. It started back in 2018 with some random Marauder snippets that I put aside to write about Sirius and Remus raising Harry which turned from a 25 chapter story idea to 360 chapters of A Second Chance and led me to write a prequel with my original Marauder snippets in The First Time Around. It ended with Third Times the Charm.

As I always say, I write this story for myself first and this is the final chapter of what I wanted to write and how I wanted to end my world of Kismet. I’m very excited to share it with you and I hope you’re excited to read it. I hope those of you who have been reading this story have been enjoying it even half as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it and that you like the ending as much as I do. And for those of you who don’t, I thank you for reading as long as you have and hope you find a story some day that pleases you more. There are a lot of amazing writers in the world and I hope someone gives you the ending you want.

As for me I am very proud of my final scene and of this trilogy.

It’s surreal to me that people even want to do that and is more appreciated than I can possibly put into words. And lastly, thank you to @celtics534 for putting up with my random asks about reading over scenes, giving great writing advice, and not being afraid to tell me when something is crap and how to fix it. You’re more appreciated than you know. PS — Sorry for bothering the crap out of you with final reviews of this last chapter LOL.

Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to follow me in this story-writing journey for the last six years. It means so much to me.

I have no plans of writing anything else in the near future, as I do very much need a break, but who knows what the future will bring. These epilogues, while being very much a conclusion, still leave lots of holes for me to jump back in if I ever want to (old and next generation). It leaves the world of Kismet open to me in the future while still showing you that that there was a happily ever after for these characters (which is very much deserved).

No Sequins

for @hdcandyheartsfest 's prompt: Charm Me Rated: G CW: Veela Draco, Sequins “Well, go on then.” Harry said, sitting back in the chair. “Charm me.” Draco’s eyes twinkled, as he grinned and disappeared into the changing booth, his talons clicking against the floor. Harry had tried to find shoes that would fit over his hooked feet, but nothing had worked so far. The only thing that had been close to passable were sandals, but his talons were just too long and still tapped against the floor when he walked. He could hear Draco struggling, as he attempted to fit the clothes he’d picked out over his wings without tearing the shirts in half. Harry always cut holes in Draco’s tops for him, so his wings had somewhere to go, otherwise they’d always be covered and folded down against his body, which he was sure had to be uncomfortable. But he couldn’t cut holes for him here, they were just trying things on. Finally, Draco opened the door and stepped out, leaning back against the booth, while he draped one arm over his head. Harry had to stop himself from laughing, as he knew that Draco wouldn’t appreciate it, but he couldn’t help it, he was always so extra. He loved him for it, but sometimes it made him laugh. Draco had a long, flowing scarf that was made entirely of white, downy feathers wrapped around his neck, the bottom of which ended right above his hips. He was wearing a crop top that cut off right above his belly button, which was covered in glittery sequins that reflected the light back into his eyes, nearly blinding him. Draco had figured out how to maneuver his wings, so they stuck out above the top of his shirt and weren’t trapped beneath it. His trousers were black and rather tightly fitted, cutting off halfway through his calves. Draco was fluttering his eyelashes, and Harry had to bite down on his lip to keep himself from bursting into a grin. “Well, it’s… It’s certainly something.” Draco scoffed and tapped his foot against the floor, looking rather cross. “It’s itchy is what it is. I was hoping you’d at least like it.” He got up and made his way over to him, taking his hand and pressing a kiss against the back of it. “I do like it. You’re very beautiful, my little bird. But you don’t need all of that to be beautiful.” Draco’s cheeks were flushing pink, as he nodded. “Well, I know that.” “But you do look very…” He paused to think, before he finally decided on, “Dazzling in that.” His cheeks continued to redden. “I do, don’t I?” “Yes, you do. Now, why don’t you go try on something a little bit more comfortable? That you’d like to wear.” He prompted. Draco tossed the end of the feathery scarf back over his shoulder. “Okay. But only because this is rather itchy and not because I don’t look good in it.” He rolled his eyes, as Draco turned to go and change into something a little bit more practical. “Maybe, less sequins, Dear?” “Yes, but only because they’re itchy.” “Right.” He finally let himself chuckle, as he knew that Draco wouldn’t be able to see. “The crop top did look nice, just… Maybe get one without the sequins.” “No sequins.” Draco agreed. The feathery scarf was tossed into the air, before it drifted back to the floor, landing beside his feet. He picked it up, looking it over. “You want the scarf or no?” There was a huff. “I have my own feathers. And besides, those aren’t nearly as pretty as my own.” “No, they’re not.” He put the scarf in the return pile. “Your feathers are very beautiful.” He could imagine that Draco was smirking as he said, “They are, aren’t they?”

Stuck

After a mysterious magical mishap you get trapped in the room of requirement with your enemy Draco Malfoy.

Warnings: sexual references but no smut and brief mention of periods.

“Damn it Malfoy, why did you have to go and disappear the door? Why are you even in here at all?” I say exasperated.

“I swear I didn’t do anything, like I want to be trapped in here with you anyway. I followed you here to see what you were up to, I’m a prefect remember I was planning to report you for whatever wrong doings you were planning on doing.” He replies looking bored.

“Hmph” I say, I mean it can’t be a coincidence that the door disappeared the second he walked in can it? “So what are we supposed to do now?” I look around the room it’s pretty small, just a single bed and an uncomfortable looking armchair in the corner.

It’s honestly a complete accident I ended up here, I was just minding my own business thinking about how I could really do with a nap after having double potions with Snape and then this door appeared right in front of me. I was curious and decided to see what was inside and so I peaked and it was just this room with a bed so I go in and then before I know it Draco was in here and poof the door was gone. I’d heard about a secret room that appeared when you needed something before but I thought those were just rumours made up by other students.

“Well I mean there is a bed, we could make use of it.” he said with a wink.

“Ew Draco you’re such a pig.” I retort scrunching my face in disgust.

“Chill out Y/n I’m obviously joking I mean don’t take this the wrong way, you’re okay to look at and all but your personality really lets you down and I wouldn’t want you to get all attached and clingy if we had sex I couldn’t deal with you hanging round me all the time” He says with a look in his eye that I can’t quite place.

I roll my eyes “Well at least I have one more thing going than you then, you’ve got the looks and the personality of a rusty spoon” I lie. I mean I can’t deny he is attractive but the way he seems to do everything he can to get on my nerves I could never give him the satisfaction of letting him know that.

“Oh whatever, we both know you’d love to get a piece of this” he says as he sits on the bed. I go over and sit on the arm chair at the other side of the tiny room.

I ignore his comment “But how are we going to get out of here? You’re supposed to be smart, any bright ideas?”. I really didn’t feel like being stuck here for too long, I mean it’s not very practical. Although I regretted it earlier I was now feeling very grateful I’d skipped that extra coffee I usually have at breakfast, I couldn’t imagine how awkward it would end up being if I had to pee. I hope we can figure out how to get out before that becomes an issue.

“Supposed to be smart? What’s that supposed to mean? I’m second top for grades in our entire year” he states pompously.

“Oh yeah, it would be better that I got stuck in here with Granger then, she would be able to figure out how to get out of here,” I smirk as I can see he’s pissed off by that remark. It isn’t true of course I may hate Draco but I’m still a Slytherin and some of those Gryffindors really are such goody goodies, Hermione Granger being the worst of all of them.

He doesn’t say anything he just pulls his wand out and tries a few spells that I’ve never heard of and huffs in frustration when nothing happens.

We then sit in silence for a while, I fidgeted in my seat. This damn armchair is so uncomfortable. After another 20 minutes I have to stand up because my butt was going numb from sitting on it. “Just come and sit on the damn bed Y/n I’m not going to bite” Draco said boredly.

“That’s not what I’ve heard from Pansy Parkinson” I retort and then immediately blush and regret it because she was talking about while they were doing you know what and I did not want to get into that kind of a topic with him.

He smirked “She said that did she? And you’ve been fantasising about it ever since I bet,”.

“Ugh in your dreams Draco” I reply but sit on the bed anyway as far as I can away from him without falling off. He rolls his eyes at that.

Another 20 minutes of silence passes and by this point I’ve leaned back against the wall sat more squarely on the bed now because balancing on the one edge of the bed wasn’t much more comfortable than the chair. I’m very acutely aware that my nemesis is sitting inches away from me but for some reason I feel the urge to close the gap between us. I must be going crazy in this tiny room, that’s what it is, I can’t really want to get closer to Draco can I?

Draco sighs interrupting my thought process, I look up at him raising my eyebrows expecting him to say something rude or obnoxious. He doesn’t he just looks back at me and shuffles slightly so his shoulder is pressed against mine. “You know I was only kidding before with all the sex stuff, I thought if I made it into a joke that I was propositioning you it’d ease some of the tension if we’re stuck here for god knows how long”, He says looking concerned.

“Yeah I got that it was a joke, I know how much I repulse you. You remind me of that all the time.” I say rolling my eyes.

“I didn’t mean it like that, I actually don’t think you’re all that bad, I just wind you up because it’s fun.” He replies.

“Not that bad, you really know how to flatter a girl Draco.” Rolling my eyes at him again.

“I didn’t mean, oh never mind” he laughs and bumps my shoulder with his.

I laugh too, I’m not sure why there’s something about his expression that I can’t help but smile at. We stay like that for a while just laughing about nothing, it feels nice. I’ve never realised how easy Draco is to be around before. Oh god what am I saying. Although I guess when I think about it I see what Draco means, winding him up has made life a lot more interesting and he hasn’t always been horrible to me, there’s been a few occasions where he’s actually been a decent human being.

For example in first year when I got lost on the way to transfiguration and Draco showed me where to go or in third year when I started my period in care of magical creatures and he gave me his jumper to tie around my waist so no one else would notice. He did both of those things while mocking me of course but he never told anyone about them. I expected to be ridiculed by the rest of Slytherin house for months especially for the second one but Draco never said a word to anyone. Maybe he isn’t so bad after all.

“What are you thinking? Why are you looking at me like that?,” he looks at me curiously.

I realise how close his face is to mine and I don’t say anything, I don’t think, I just lean in and kiss him. I’m not really sure what came over me in that moment, it just felt right. Any second now I though he’s going to push me off acting disgusted. But to my surprise that didn’t happen instead he kissed me back with a lot more certainty to his lips than I seemed to have had in mine when I initiated the kiss.

After what seemed like a lifetime he pulls away laughing “And what was that in aid of? I’m not complaining but I want to know what prompted you to accost me so I can be sure to do it again in the future” he raised his eyebrows at me suggestively as he spoke. I blush embarrassed by that “Really now the queen of comebacks has nothing to say? Hey but seriously please tell me what you’re thinking.” He says softly.

“Well if you must know I was thinking about that time in first year when you helped me find my class and also the time in third year when you lent me your jumper and how you’re not really that bad” I say still red with embarrassment. “But I’m sorry for as you say accosting you, it won’t happen again”.

He smiles, genuinely not that cocky smirk he usually does. “Wanna know a secret?” He says. I nod in response. “I did those things because even back in first year I liked you y/n and I mean liked you liked you. Any opportunity I was given to make your life slightly better by my presence I’d do willingly, even if I did tease you for it relentlessly.” He smirks his cocky grin now. “Oh and also I very much enjoyed you kissing me, you better do it again”. He then leans in and presses his lips to mine and we kiss again.

After another lifetime of kissing I pull away to catch my breath and notice that the door is back. “Oh my god Draco the door! I wonder when that appeared.” I say shocked but also kinda sad because I was enjoying my time in here at the moment.

He looks up not looking surprised “Oh that appeared the first time you kissed me, I noticed it then but I didn’t want you to run away without explaining the kiss so I neglected to tell you.”

I know I should be mad by that but I’m really not, I was embarrassed after that kiss and I probably would have run away and never got to know how he really felt. “Oh that’s weird, maybe the room of requirement held us in here until we got what we needed, even though we may not have realised we needed it this whole time” I say inquisitively.

“Oh so you needed me did you y/n?” He replies smirking again but there’s something different about the way he’s teasing me this time, it’s like something has shifted and he seems slightly nervous.

“Ugh you’re impossible Draco, so what now we walk out that door and go back to acting how we were before”. I say not really understanding his tone.

“God I hope not, I meant what I said y/n. I think I’m going to explode if you don’t let me kiss you again once we get out of here”. He looks at me worriedly.

“Oh, well I guess I’d be okay with that. But I don’t really wanna be another one of those girls you just sleep with and brag about. I’m not that kind of girl Draco, if we’re gonna do this I can’t be worried about if you’re sleeping with Pansy in the next room while I’m studying or something like that” I say, really hoping he wants me and just me, I can’t bare it if he says no at this point.

“Y/n please, you’re my one and only. You always have been those other girls have only been distractions since I thought you hated me. Now I know you don’t that changes everything, I only want you, say you’ll be my girlfriend?.” He says genuinely sincere.

“Girlfriend?” I stutter. “I well, I, yes I would love that Draco”. He breathes a sigh of relief. “Shall we get out of here then?” He nods and holds his hand out to me. I take it and we slowly leave the room of requirement. Everything looks normal once we’re out which obviously it does. I just don’t know, I feel like the universe has shifted somehow. I laugh at the ridiculousness of that.

Draco looks at me curiously “Care to let me in on the joke?” He says confused.

“I just, well I feel like since we’ve been in there so much has changed but everything out here just looks the same as when we went in,” I sigh thinking I must sound crazy.

“I know what you mean” he says as he smiles at me and pulls me in for another kiss.

“No fraternising in the corridor, move along haven’t you two got charms to go to?” Professor Snape seems to appear out of nowhere to say. I look down at my watch 5 minutes until our class.

“Oh my god Draco we’re gonna be late for Flitwick, let’s hurry.” I say slightly panicked.

He smiles down at me “Don’t worry about it, I’m always late he never says anything but I’ll meet you there, honestly I’m kind of glad we got out of there when we did, I rather need to make a detour to the boys lavatory and that could have gotten very awkward very quickly if we would have been trapped for much longer” he chuckles.

I laugh too “Yeah you better hurry up you don’t want to give me any more fuel than I already have to tease you with, don’t think I’ve forgotten your pathetic attempt at using magic to get us out of there to begin with,” I say.

“Ha well I didn’t see you doing anything to get us out of there other than being all. Oh Draco please get us out of there while giving me those gooey kiss me eyes” he mocks.

“Pah yeah right I was just giving you a chance to show off because I know you like to,” I retort now Draco is my boyfriend his teasing doesn’t make my blood boil like it used to, infact it makes me smile. I give him a kiss on the cheek and say “I’ll save you a seat in class”.

I walk briskly to Flitwick’s classroom and make it with seconds to spare, Draco joins 5 minutes into class and Flitwick doesn’t even say anything. He sits down next to me and grabs the hand I’ve got resting on my thigh, I subtly move my chair closer to his and rest my head on his shoulder as we listen to Flitwick drone on about the history of the Patronus charm. I definitely prefer this new arrangement we have going on to the whole nemesis thing.
