Setting: This happens IMMEDIATELY after the Stožice concert. Literally in the backstage. Bojan is pondering about life and some homo shit happens (I hate doing synopsis). It's sort of cute? Idk. Feelings, man.

- BOJAN! – a tall man entered the room – Come on! Everyone is waiting for you outside. WE HAVE A PARTY!

The small man looked up at the owner of the voice...Kris.

- Hey, man...are you crying? – Kris finally noticed what was going on.

- I’m fine. – Bojan quickly tried to wipe his tears off.

- Do you want me to call Martin? – Kris kneeled in front of Bojan, holding his hands – Maybe he knows better how to deal with these types of s-

- No. – Bojan protested by holding his hands strongly – No need to call Martin. I’m fine.

Kris looked in distress. He really was lost...why was Bojan crying? They just filled a stadium- no, they filled THE stadium with a crowd of people who came to see them and their band. If he thought too much about it, he would probably start crying too, but he didn’t want to bring the mood down. He just wanted to party. He had time to process his feelings later...

Kris just failed to understand that that was exactly what was going on in Bojan’s brain. The big difference between them was that Bojan actually chose to let his feelings out first instead of bottling them up.

- Kris... – Bojan was the one who broke the ice – do you remember how we met?

- Okay Bojan we need to get you dressed. – Kris was not letting him talk about it...he really didn’t want to cry.

- It was so funny seeing you burst into our rehearsal to criticize us... – Bojan’s lips formed a smile – You were a hater from the beginning, weren’t you?

- If you actually knew how to play the song, I wouldn’t have to intervene. – Kris was starting to unbutton Bojan’s shirt, avoiding eye contact.

- But if I had played it well, we wouldn’t have met, would we? – Kris didn’t reply, so Bojan kept going – And it was...amazing how I inspired you to play music. Not THE Miha Guštin but Bojan Cvjetićanin.

- To be fair, I just wanted to get girls' attention. Lift your arms. – Bojan lifted his arms as Kris removed his shirt – Though it seems I’m only a lesbian icon now...

- Even so... – Kris got up and folded Bojan’s shirt and then put it away – It was the first time I ever inspired a young person to do music.

- Bojan, I’m one year younger than you.

- Listen, Krisko, when I was your age, I used to respect my elders.

- No, you didn’t.

- No, I didn’t. – and the smaller one kept his rambling going – You took a while to accept my request to join our band...but I’m glad of how things turned out...because... “If not for you, I wouldn’t sing anymore” – Bojan softly sang.

- What? – Kris returned.

- It’s a song... – Bojan decided to sing as Kris untied his shoes – “There’d be no summer...There’d be no spring, if not for this love of mine”.

Kris didn’t say anything, he just enjoyed the singing.

- “Thornes without flowers... Bars with no drinks, if not for this love of mine” – Bojan thought his tears had dried...he was wrong – “All the lights, all the parties will just fade out... Shut them down”.

Kris finally started recognizing the melody of the song, though he couldn’t quite remember where from.

- “If not for you, I wouldn’t sing anymore” – and the tears flowed from Bojan’s eyes down to his cheeks and his throat...and some of them dried on Bojan’s bare chest – “If not for you, I couldn’t get off this floor”.

- Yeah, I’m literally helping you get dressed. – Kris couldn’t help but make a snarky comment.

- But it’s true, if it weren’t you, I wouldn’t be singing anymore. – Kris got up to put his shoes away.

- Why do you say that?

- Because of that day...the day you sang Gola to me. – Kris finally stopped on his tracks.

He was not facing Bojan, but Bojan knew something had broken inside Kris’ brain.

A bunch of coincidences brought them together, but it was Kris who made their bond stay intact. It was Kris that made it possible for them to have what they have now.

- I wanted to go solo, but you asked for one last chance – Kris knew all of that – and you made me stay...with just a guitar, your voice and passion...

Kris didn’t need a recap of their relationship...he didn’t want any of that...and the more Bojan talked, the more Kris just wanted to run away...

- Kris...I need you to know – Kris didn’t want to face those feelings right now – That I’m thankful for all you’ve done for me. For all of us.

Still not facing Bojan, the tall man let the tears run down his face. He just nodded.

- I’m crying because...we made it, man. – Kris really had it with him.

He quickly wiped his tears and faced Bojan. He was done.

It took him years to reach a state of confidence he felt when he was in the arena...years of building up, of feeling comfortable with his own body and image. Years processing feelings and burying down some of those...

- We need to get you drunk. – he projected onto the singer.

He quickly unzipped Bojan’s glittery pink pants...he just wanted this chat to be over. He was done reflecting on his past insecure self.

- Hey! – Bojan grabbed Kris’ hands before he could start taking his pants off.

The guitarist finally looked at the singer. The younger one had red eyes, a slight blush, and frustration in his gaze.

- Are you blushing because your hand is near my dick? – Bojan tried to tease him, but he didn’t understand his frustration at all.

- No! – Kris tried to free his hand, but Bojan didn’t let him.

- Uhm... – Instead, the brown-eyed boy got close to his face and stared at the guitarist’s eyes, his guitarist – There’s something going on, isn’t there?

- Fine! – Kris abruptly yelled, but Bojan didn’t let his hand go, he was used by now – Do you want to know so badly!? – Bojan didn’t reply – What if...

- What if...?

- What if I was down for you...? Really badly.

- You...

- Yes, Bojan, I liked you.

- And what changed?

- I did.

- And you can’t have feelings for me because of that?

- I don’t want my old self to exist anymore. We are two different people. – Bojan finally let go of Kris’ hand slowly - He helped me reach this far, but that was it.

- But he existed. I think that’s the beauty of it.

- What would you know about it? You’ve always been comfortable in your own skin, thoughts, and feelings. You were always social, open, and confident. You don’t know what is like to be me!

- I don’t, but I don’t think you should shit on your old self.

- Why do you even fucking care!?

- Because I felt the same.

- What...? – Kris didn’t understand a word – What the fuck are you talking about?

- I also liked you.

Kris stopped for a couple of seconds...he needed to process what just happened.

- Why?

- Why wouldn’t I? The moment you burst through the door to yell at me I was immediately showered by your energy. – Bojan wasn’t going to shy away from eye contact, but he certainly fidgeted with his fingers out of nervousness – It’s a different energy from Martin or Jan’s or any of the other guys...

He looked at a loss of words, so Kris made the question this time.

- What changed?

- I did. I grew up to be more anxious and careful.

- That doesn’t sound like you at all.

- Because I can’t let go of my past self. Both versions of me coexist and I can accept them both, with their faults and virtues. No use in crying over spilled milk.

They stayed in an awkward silence for a while before Kris got too annoyed with it.

- What now?

- First of all, close the door. I can’t believe you started undressing me before even closing the door to the hallway.

Kris looked behind him. The door was wide open.

Did anyone listen? At this point: who cares?

- Now? – he said after closing the door.

- Wanna go party with the other? Or...

- Or?

- Do want to help me undress me some more?

- You are fucking unbelievable.

To start off, I’m such a big fan of your writing! I genuinely look forward to every single update of yours and find myself rereading a lot of work in the downtime. You are such a good writer!! My never ending praises aside, here are some asks!

-You incorporate OC’s into your fics so seamlessly! They feel so natural in your fics that I legit get excited anytime they show up (srsly can’t wait for Lou Jitsu vs Hidden City, Sal’s my boy) lol how do you find the right balance when introducing and maintaining OC’s in your fics? I feel like that’s a particularly difficult balance beam to tread but you absolutely crush it.

-A previous ask you answered about Cass and Raph in LSoW got me thinking; how do the brothers handle humans crushing on them? Would they be receptive or dismissive? Do they develop crushes on humans- and if so, how is that perceived (by family or the general public)? The drama 👀

Omg thanks so much... I'm so happy people enjoy my writing it's crazy to me. I've written before, but it's always been just for myself so I never really know if it was good or not. (Years of text based DnD is to thank lol.) (Okay I got carried away answering this so sorry in advance.)

On OC's:

I got a lot of comments on LSoW from people who say "generally I don't like OC's BUT-" which is so funny and flattering. Because I am absolutely one of those people who don't care for OC's in fic.

Let me be clear: I LOVE that people write self indulgent self-insert of OC based fic, where they make the craziest off the wall story etc. Every time a fifteen year old writes a story about the cringiest Mary-sue/stu self insert, or non canon character, an angel gets its wings and I mean that one hundred percent. It makes me so happy I literally grin when I see it. I HOWEVER generally filter out the OC tags on AO3 when I'm looking for something to read myself.

So when I started posting LSoW I was expecting to get maybe like, 100 kudos MAX, maybe one comment or so. Which is great! I love writing niche fic just for me, and one other person who I assume I must be drift compatible with. I just could not figure out a way to write the story I wanted without a few OC's- Rise didn't have a big enough character catalog for me to draw from!

When I went to write the OC's, I knew that they had to have a very simple backstory, that was also very fleshed out. (Xander and Sal have full family, Dr. Heo and Carter have full jobs and history together, etc.) For another contradiction I wanted them to be interesting enough that someone reading wouldn't just be skipping ahead to when they weren't present, or just simply plowing through to get past the part where they were doing exposition. They had to be enjoyable! While also forwarding the story!

They also had to be distinct. Anyone who's ever watched a Whedon show or movie (Buffy, Firefly, Avengers-) knows what I'm talking about. It drives me nuts when the characters in a show are constantly the funniest person in the room, with the same personality traits, and the same girl boss/badass tendencies.

(Fandom challenge Impossible: Give a female fan favorite character another trait besides 'girlboss/mom/lesbian'. I'm dead serious.)

(Also a disclaimer: I LOVE making jokes and doing bits. I FANCY that I'm pretty funny, and I love making people laugh. But you can do that without making it a character personality trait. For example: Xander doesn't really crack any jokes in LSoW! He's just funny because we the reader know more about the situation and his thoughts than he does.)

But the BIGGEST THING I kept telling myself while writing the story, was DO NOT TAKE AWAY FROM THE TURTLES. Because the whole point of the story is the turtles! And Yoshi! The OC's are there to facilitate that. It's a hard balance to hit. I have all sorts of touchstones I keep in mind while I'm writing, and that's a big one.

(A SUPER good example of this done super well is @faiakishi 's Bella from Dawning of the Hour. She's a great OC that's super interesting, and a super important narrative element, but she never detracts from the main story. Big Bella fan here lmao. There's also the rest of the OC's/interpretations of franchise characters (TIGERCLAW), but Bella stands out as truly original.)

On the Turtles dating Humans:

(CW: CSA mention, SA mention, non graphic talk of minors dating etc.)

I actually talked a lot about this to @/tangledinink in feverish discord chats lmao.

When the boys were growing up they got a very detailed talk from both Yoshi, and their Doctors. ONE: Because nobody will know better than themselves if something was medically wrong with their bodies, TWO: The boys are all intersex (minus Mikey) and they had to understand that there was nothing wrong with them on TOP of the turtle thing, and THREE: Because Yoshi knew the boys would be getting a lot of attention, and you never know what kind of attention that form will take.

THE BEST WAY to protect children (any child) from being sexually assaulted or abused, is making sure they know what that abuse LOOKS LIKE. You don't have to make them terrified of being sexually assaulted, but them knowing how their body works, and also how to say NO and set boundaries, will combine to help make them safer.

Yoshi didn't know what would happen in the future and in a perfect world the boys would never leave his line of sight, but that's not always how things happen. (In a Short Season, Xander parroted Yoshi's instructions before going out to make sure the boys knew what to do if someone grabbed them (in any way) and it was to bite and be loud.) So the boys grew up knowing their bodies, knowing how to say 'no', and knowing that there was probably going to be people out there who would treat them as a novelty, and who wouldn't be appropriate to them as celebrities OR non-humans.

(Remember Emma Watson having to deal with that countdown to her turning 18? Or any other amount of child stars who had to deal with adults being predatory to them.)

But ALSO THIS IS HAMATO YOSHI. His sons are HANDSOME and HEARTBREAKERS! Leo has dated a lot but never anything seriously, and his inability to be intimate with anyone but family kind of puts a damper on any more permanent relationship. (He is gay.) He's the number one turtle people ask out because he's the most approachable. Because he made himself that way!

Donnie is in a sort of relationship with Kendra. (THIS WILL BE A FIC I'm working up to it lmao.) I have a head canon that Yokai and other empyrean based creatures are capable of having rivalry based relationships. IE Yoshi and Draxum in the canon show, the unhealthy dynamic between Yoshi and Big Mama, etc. (Caliginous relationship) Donnie is in a puppy love version of that with Kendra, while also lacking the context of yokai society to understand why he wants to punch her very badly, but also if anything happened to her he would die. They hate each others guts and also she was his first kiss. She is not a nice person I am not a Kendra apologist she's terrible I love her. (Donnie is bi!)

I know a lot of people head canon Mikey as ace, but he is a thirteen year old child you don't have to be head canoning him as anything. it is the very rare 13 year old who knows their orientation, and even if they DO I bet you donuts to dollars it will change eventually. This is normal and healthy. Mikey in LSoW has had puppy crushes on boys, girls, teachers, Violet, the mailman, Adam, and Rupert Swaggert. (Eugh eugh eugh.)

Raph is absolutely irresistible to the entire student body and is completely unaware of it. He's not stupid but he's face blind and bad at picking up subtext in conversations. He's gone to multiple people's houses and spent the whole day with them, without realizing they were trying to make it a date. (Raph is bi.)

All the boys have considered identifying as girls since their Dad is the martial arts equivalent of David Bowie and Fine With That, but have settled (for now) on being boys (age 10 the last time they considered this) because quote 'Lou Jitsu and Jupiter Jim are boys and they're awesome' unquote.

They don't get any fucking privacy for their relationships, and Leo in particular had a very bad experience that closed him off from dating big time. (Stamps 'THIS WILL BE A FIC' on this as well.) But also, as of the LSoW canon they are like, 12-14 and not doing a lot of dating ANYWAY. They are BABIES.

ON CROSSOVERS:

I have one crossover with my white whale of authors (you know who you are) I have pecked at with them that I think everyone will go fucking nuts for and love, but I won't mention it in case we can't get it off the ground! (A completely okay and normal thing to happen lmao.) I think that one will end up happening though because I am too excited about it, even if it's not any time soon.

I am super open to crossovers and cowriting, especially since writing with Li because I learned SO MUCH it was like speed running improvement.

The thing is it has to fit! There's some crossovers that wouldn't have a lot of substance because there's not really a lot to cover. When it came to EiL for example, there was PLENTY to cover and do, it was so fun! But other fics might not have a lot we could do for each other. (At least, not until I get some more world building done.)

That being said I do love talking crossovers with other creators it's so fun...

Have a doc filled with Mario headcanons and wanted to share the sexualities part because fuck it, it’s still pride month.

Disclaimer since it’s relevant to this post : I headcanon that Peach, Daisy, Wario and Waluigi are all creatures from the world of the Mushroom Kingdom who look the way they do due to magic gems (those blue and green gems that Peach and Daisy have respectively). Peach is a Toad, Daisy is a Dino-Rhino (unless those flower people from Mario Bros acid trip Wonder are from her Kingdom, then again I like Daisy being a giant cool Dino, plus the trailer for Wonder showed several other big animals), not sure for Wario and Waluigi but they’re not humans. The Super Crown works the way it does because there’s one of those gems in it.

Also, since it’s briefly mentioned, what I call the “main” continent is made out of the Mushroom, Koopa, Bomb-omb, Thwomp, and Goomba kingdoms. Sarasaland (retconned into Flower Kingdom now ?) and other kingdoms are on other continents (yes I know in Superstar Saga the Beanbean kingdom is neighbors with the Mushroom. But since they never appear in other games, I’ve chosen to ignore that detail).

Anyways, onto the headcanons :

- Mario : Transmasc Aromantic Heterosexual ; he realized he’s aro after finding out Peach is a Toad and losing sexual interest in her (felt bad about it at first because he thought he fell out of love upon discovering Peach at her most vulnerable, Bowser made it worse for him by accusing him of liking her only due to her human form) ; him being transmasc is why he’s named Mario Mario (he thought it would be funny)

- Luigi : Cis Bisexual ; had a fling with Peasley + loves Daisy ; he’s gender non-conforming and sometimes shares clothes with Peach, he also trains his voice to be higher-pitched for the heck of it (+ it can help in case he has to take Peach’s place for a kidnapping)

- Peach : Demiromantic Pansexual ; is cis-passing in human form but is technically transfem due to being a Toad

- Bowser : Omnisexual ; Cis tho I like the idea of him being transmasc and birthing Junior’s egg

- Yoshi and Birdetta are T4T + poly (hence Birdetta flirting with others) ; Birdetta’s eggs aren’t actually eggs (insert joke about her “eggs” being white) ; not sure if “all Yoshis that lay eggs are female” but at least all those that lay eggs that can be fertilized are female (and on that note YOSHI MIGHT BE CANONICALLY TRANSMASC ???!!!) ; Yoshi is straight while Birdetta is plurisexual (bi/pan/omni etc)

- Daisy : Straight + intersex + transfem (imagine if Prince Haru from the 1986 movie was her appearance pre-transition, but remove the whole “Peach’s fiancé” part of the plot, or the plot as a whole since the events of this movie didn’t happen here, just keep Haru’s design as “Daisy before transitioning”)

- Big fan of the headcanon that Kamek is gay ; he doesn’t date because 1. He’s busy 2. He’s getting too old for this 3. He’s devoted to his son and grandchildren which takes all his free time

- Depending on which creature he is Wario would be cishet though I could also see him be plurisexual (bi/pan/omni/other label that has to do with dating more than one gender ; I like putting diversity in queer headcanons but I’m not the most knowledgeable on labels past the most common ones)

- Not sure for Rosalina, either aroace or she’s allo but just stays single due to her life situation ; probably non-binary (she/it, could also be a play on the fact that some see her as some kind of goddess)

- Pauline is Cis Lesbian and her and Mario parted on good terms after he came out as trans on top of other reasons (basically they still care a lot about each other but realized they were better off as friends, the whole “unknown aro + transmasc with lesbian” simply gave them an easier excuse to break up)

- Really not sure for Bowser's kids, the only ideas that are "set in stone" are that Ludwig is gay, Wendy is attracted to boys (doesn't meant she can't like girls), Lemmy is demi-boy (they/him) and Morton is attracted to girls (like Wendy it doesn't close the door for liking men).

Not sure for the rest, though I could see Iggy using he/neopronouns (likely xe/xem) and at least one of them being interesex. Btw the older kids say they don’t date because they’re busy with royal duties but the truth is they are just incredibly awkward + they can’t ask their dad for advice since he’s a romantic disaster

- I could see Toadsworth be aroace, since even in his younger years he cared more about raising his surrogate daughter than dating + he never pressures Peach into marrying ? In general he doesn’t seem to care about romance ? ; he’s also transmasc because Toad

- After seeing Bowser’s Inside Story and the beginning of Dream Team, Starlow is a lesbian crushing on Peach (is very buddy-buddy with Peach despite barely knowing her, makes a big deal out of Peach being kept safe, calls her “Peach” instead of “Princess” from the get go, at times seems to see Peach as the best person in the room)

- Toads and Goombas are naturally agender because mushrooms ; some choose to express a specific gender (ex Toadsworth, Toadette, Peach, the Toads and Goombas from the first two Paper Mario) ; some may use gendered pronouns even if their presentation doesn’t display any specific gender (ex Captain Toad using he/him despite looking like any other Toad) ; basically every Toad/Goomba that use gendered pronouns (or neopronouns) is technically trans and/or non-binary ; cisgender Toads/Goombas go by they/it ; the Super Crown gem gives the shape the Toad see themselves as but it doesn’t have to be cis-passing or even gender conforming, can be androgyne (Daisy took a while to figure herself out, hence her gem giving her Haru’s look at first ; she's not from an agender species but the way the gems work still applies to hers, hence mentioning how her being trans worked on that front)

- That previous point implies either all Toads have the same metabolism and thus all grow facial hair (Peach having to shave tho) or they have mushrooms that serves as HRT for those who want more “masculine” or “feminine” traits (hair/facial hair and tone of voice) ; the color of their hats has nothing to do with gender for Toads (ignore Nintendo’s weird obsession with making every female character in the Mario franchise pink)

- Sexual dimorphism in general is very rare/limited in this world (only the Beanbean kingdom has it ?), in “main” continent, Koopas are the ones where it’s the most present and even then it’s very minimal (genitals, who can lay eggs, possibly size but even then not really since Pom Pom is the only one smaller than her male counterpart, Wendy and other female Koopas aren’t particularly small)

- Toads (and other species) experimenting with gender could be due to seeing Koopas make the distinction between “male” and “female” and finding the idea of changing your appearance based on how you feel to be fun (even though you have the concept of male and female Koopas, there’s no transphobia in Bowser’s kingdom) ; by that point it’s common for Toads to change however they feel and go by any pronouns they want, just because they’re aware of the concepts of masculinity and femininity doesn’t mean they have to follow it to the letter with their pronouns unless they want to

- On that note, I could see Toadette as genderfluid, though she most often goes by she/her ; I could also see one or several of the other main Toads (Ala Gold, Bucken Berry, Captain Toad, "The" Red ToadTM) be bi-gender

- Not sure what’s going on with Waluigi but he’s definitely queer

The description of the streets of Aeor, its building collapsed, the skeletons, is jarring. Even more so when Caduceus flew over the amphitheater and Matt described that there was a lot of people here when death took them, when the destruction happened. Hear this after watching ExU Calamity is even more horrifying, because WE KNOW exactly what those 15 seconds before the end must have looked like for Aeor…

Travis talking about how he figured out in-game when looking at the map that Vandren is literally on the next island after their ship crashed, and that he just… stayed there… is amazingly funny, because he came to the conclusion that he was a “fucking moron” for never deducing he should look there first.

Travis, the self-described man who doesn’t know youth linguo, made a Tumblr reference when they discussed Essek, and I’m proud. We do have an Essek obsession over here !

You don’t fancy yourself a partier. You don’t even like to waste any of your precious off days. With working at the arcade and preparing for college next year you have little to zero free time as it is.

BUT unfortunately being a good friend comes first. Because hopefully these guys will be with you till you die of old age a good ways down the road. So when robin and Steve come from next door finishing a shift at family video begging you to wing man and come to a party with them you can do very little to resist both sets of their puppy dog eyes. Which has nothing to do with the fact that you’ve had a crush on Steve “the hair” Harrington since junior year, and you would literally put your life on the line for Robin at any given moment.

“So what do you guys expect me to do at this party anyways?” You lean across the arcade counter already dreading the crowds of college kids you’ll have to avoid at this party.

“Well Robin’s crushing on this girl who’s leaving for Purdue in a month, so if she can manage to actually talk to her then we might not see her for the rest of the night if we’re lucky” Steve says jokingly.

“Steve I think you mean if SHE gets lucky” You high five Steve but Robin quickly shews your hands away.

“ While I appreciate your guy’s confidence in me I’m not even sure Veronica likes me like that so we can’t assume anything will happen. There are a few things I’ve noticed but I can’t be sure and throwing myself at every woman is not exactly a good plan for not looking like raging lesbian”

“ We’ll just have to get you girls alone then at the party so you can work your magic in peace then” You say while switching out the change in the quarter machine.

“What we should REALLY be focusing on if the fact that our good friend Steve is going the be making His Move tonight” Robin says chuckling as she approaches you at the machine.

Steve’s hand slips on the counter that he was holding himself up with.

“Hey Robin I feel like we just talked about we weren’t going to talk about this exact subject just a few minutes ago” Steve glares at Robin, and she just rolls her eyes.

Clearly you’re left out of whatever’s going on, but Steve and Robin are super close and you don’t want to interrupt whatever best friend beef is unfolding in your arcade.

You sigh and hopefully say something that will change the topic “Do you guys think Eddie will be there?”

Steve and Robin both turn their heads to look at you with laser focus

“What, we’re going to need weed right? And he’s not the freak that everyone makes him out to be. He’s actually a real sweetie…” you started your sentence off strong but gradually got quieter because Robin and Steve both seem to be panicking looking between you and each other frantically. “Is something going on with you both that I need to be worried about? I feel like you aren’t telling me something”

“Nope, No, Absolutely Nothing at all that you have to worry your pretty little heart about. We’re all going to the party tomorrow night at 9 and I’ll pick you both up. Okay good great everything’s settled. Robin can you please get the car started outside and I’ll be there in a minute?” Steve says hurriedly to Robin while throwing her his keys.

“Uh Huh sure thing stud” She throws finger guns at him while winking and backing up through the front door of the arcade.

You’re staring at Steve throw a obscene hand gesture at Robin and can’t help but giggle to yourself. How could this absolutely stunning guy be your friend. He’s everything you’ve ever wanted. Funny, caring, sweet, and probably the best singer you’ve ever heard in your life. Not to mentioned everything he’s done for Robin. If it was socially acceptable you’d melt into a puddle just at the sight of him. You unconsciously sigh at your daydreaming. Steve turns to catch you staring at him and your first instinct to turn away rams your face right into the frogger machine.

“Oh shit” you hear Steve say while jogging over to you. “Do you have a first aid kid in the back”

“Oh god no please just let me die of embarrassment and bleed out here” you joke as he wraps his arm around your waist and leads you to a chair in the back.

“YOU’RE BLEEDING!?” His voice higher and louder than normal.

“Jesus Steve I swear I’m fine. I’m just kidding this happens all the time. One of the perks to working in an arcade and also wearing glasses with bad depth perception. I’ll be alright I promise.”

He gives you a concerned look but you pat his hand reassuring him.

You hear honks coming from the front of the arcade and you hear Steve “tsk” with his tongue and it gives you goosebumps.

“Please try to stay in once peace for tonight I’ve got something planned I want you to see.” He pats your hair and kisses your forehead before running out the front door leaving you speechless with your jaw hanging open. He had never done that before. You almost wish he hadn’t because now you know what his lips feel like. Now you’ll never not want Steve’s lips on you. Is it possible to be sexually attracted to someone’s lips.

Keith knocks on the back room door with his cheeseball fingers waking you up from your trance and making you jump.

“Hey I’m closing early so you can leave after you clean both bathrooms, but hurry up because I’m not sitting around waiting for you”. Keith stalks out the door to another corner or the arcade. You never really disliked Keith but his general way of talking always upsets you. The bathrooms got done fairly fast and you were able to make it out of there within the hour.

On your walk home a van passes you but you quickly see the reverse lights come on and back up. They roll down their passenger seat window and you see a familiar face.

“Good evening madam, you seem to be a far way from your kingdom. Fancy a ride home from Eddie the Brave?”

Your laugh turns to a snort as you grab the passenger door and hop in.

You haven’t told Robin or Steve how close you are with Eddie. Not because they would judge you. Definitely not. Maybe it was because you were jealous of how close they both were with each other and you wanted someone like that. Eddie was always real with you. You viewed him as your older punk brother that you had to keep in line and always could count on when you needed him. “Why didn’t you call? I would’ve given you a ride ya know” Eddie says as he starts driving towards your house.

“Yeah yeah I know, but Kieth let me off early last minute and I didn’t want you to have to rush over. Walking home is no big deal to me. I barely live 5 minutes away by car” You relax a bit by putting your feet up on the dash.

“I get it, but walking in the dark? Somebody would snatch a pretty young thing like you in a second. You remember that Ted Bundy guy right?” Eddie’s staring at you and waiting for an answer.

You grab his leg and reassure him “ Yes yess Eddie I’m sorry okay I just wanted to get home. Geez you and Steve keep babying me today. “

Eddie slows down to a stop in front of your house and turns to you. “ I just wanna make sure the most important person in my life stays alive and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Obviously Harrington feels the same way so you shouldn’t make fun of us for it.”

“Fuck Eddie, I’m sorry I didn’t mean it like that. I know what happened with Chrissy last year. I’ll be safer and I’ll borrow my parents car if I need to next time. Scouts honor. “ You cross your heart and salute him hoping that gets your point across.

He chuckles at you and brings you in for a hug “Don’t worry about it sweetheart. Just wanna make sure I can still see that smile for many more years”

You smile at him but turn to hide your blush and get out of the van “ Hey are you going to the party tomorrow? The one at that girls house by lake Monroe?”

He smiles back while putting his car in reverse “ If you’re there then I wouldn’t miss it for the world”. You watch his van leave until it rounds a corner out of site wondering what mayhem will happen tomorrow.

THE NEXT DAY —————

Morning went by normal for you. Having breakfast with your mom and baby sister. Dad long divorced and not apart of any of your lives anymore, but the whole family seems to be better for it. Your mom went off for a lunch/play date with some of the other moms which left you plenty of time to figure out what I’m gods name you’d be wearing to this even tonight.

All of your friends constantly told you that you can’t dress so this party is giving you heart palpitations. Assuming it’s not a costume party are you supposed to dress hot so you can catch Steve’s attention, maybe cute so Eddie will shower you with compliments all night, or maybe as a third wild card you can dress like a milf an get your ex Billy’s mouth drooling. You can’t control your laughter until you hear your phone ring downstairs.

You run downstairs and pick up the phone “Smith residence” you say in your best customer service voice.

“Y/n is that really how you answer the phone?” Robin makes fun of you over the phone.

“Well yeah what if one of my mom’s work friends call? Not like I’m super close with them Robin am I?” It comes out a lot more smart alecky then you were wanting but it does the trick.

“ okay fair enough, but hey I wanted to tell you that for the party tonight you should wear something RED. Red lipstick, red dress, red bow. The whole 9. The party tonight is a karaoke party and Steve is going to be wearing red so I just wanted to tell you but make sure to be ready at 9. I gotta go but I’ll see you soon y/n . Bye!” Robin speaking in her normal a mile a minute fashion I had no room to interject and I’m 95% certain she never took a breath.

Very very interesting you say as you walk up to your room with a smirk on your face.

THAT NIGHT —————-

You see headlights approaching your house that looks like Steve’s BMW and your heart lights up. Per Robin’s suggestion you wear your signature Marilyn Monroe lip with a cute A line dress that’s shorter than you’d like which makes it perfect. Your mom did your hair in the most perfect Jerry Hall curls and if looks could kill you’d be deadly. You kiss your mom and sister goodnight as you run out of the house to meet Steve and Robin.

As you approach the car parked in your driveway you see Steve and Robin are having a conversation so he hasn’t seen you yet. You slow your pace and slowly tap on the glass of Steve’s window. You look down at him while swinging your purse and coat waiting for him to say something. He stares into your eyes for the longest time but slowly his eyes drift lower over your curves that your dress perfectly accentuates. You see his Adam’s apple bob and he turns forward and runs his left hand through his hair while his right hand grips the steering wheel tighter.

Just the reaction you were looking for. Steve still hasn’t said anything when you grab the back drivers side door and crawl in the back seat.

Steve parks in the grass at the party and Robin races I’m before you both. Steve turns to you and lightly grazes your hand to get your attention. “ hey um *clears throat* I wanted to let you know even though Robin said it first you do look amazing tonight, AND every other night too I don’t mean that you don’t always look “

You put a finger up to his lips to stop his babbling

“ Thank you Steve, I think you look amazing tonight too.” You drop your hand and walk confidently in front of him into the party not far behind Robin.

You see she’s already found her POI which you’re assuming is Veronica who she was talking about yesterday. And when she looks your way you give her two thumbs up .

“ Hey stranger”

You tighten your fist as you turn around. Dreading this conversation but also knowing it was inevitable. “Hey Billy, nice to see you here” you say through gritted teeth. You and Billy never really got along. Not to say he didn’t bang your brains out from time to time in the not too distant past. If that’s what you’d call a relationship then you both were certified exes and enemies now. Billy never took rejection well.

“Not that I don’t love the view I’m seeing tonight y/n, but what miracle has happened that you blessed us here with your presence”

“ yeah haha Billy very funny I was invited here same as you.” You try to brush him off and move in deeper to the party when he grabs your arm and pulls you back.

“You know that’s funny that you say that y/n because this party is couple’s only and I can’t help but remember that you a desperately single at the moment. Can’t get a single dick hard to save your life. Must be a damn shame. You know if you’re still having that problem in a month I might have an opening so I can toss you a pity lay if you’re still hopelessly horny with no one to fuck”

You’re equally embarrassed and alight with flame. Tears coming to your eyes as you try to rip Billy’s grip off your arm you feel a chest come against your back and you see a fist knock Billy to the ground. Your two knights in shining armor. Steve and Eddie. Steve turns around and grabs your face with both to check and see if you’re okay. You give him a quick nod that he needed to see and he brings your palm up to his mouth to give it a long kiss while never breaking his eye contact with you. You let out a small sob as Steve lets your hand drop when he grabs Billy by the collar to take him outside. You let out a breath you didn’t know you’d been holding. Eddie is still behind you holding him close to him. His hand gently resting on your chest helping you breathe with him. Smelling his leather and weed is comforting to you and makes you feel safe. Satisfied that you’ve calmed down enough he brings you to another room in the house so you two can talk. You sit down on the stranger’s bed and fiddle with the bottom of your dress to keep yourself from crying. Eddie crouches down in front of you and takes your fingers and rests them on his face.

“What can I do sweetheart? How can Eddie make it better?”

You close your eyes as you try to hold back a sob.

“You know what I think might help. I think you need to be distracted.”

Eddie starts pressing soft, gentle kisses on your fingers

“Eddie, please”

Eddie smiles as he takes your pointer finger and slowly puts it in his mouth.

Your eyes pop open immediately

Eddie holds your stare as he starts sucking on your finger and starts circling it with his tongue.

“Eddie” you say a little surprised because you did not expect your best friend to be doing this to you at a strangers house after your ex berated you and your crush is beating him up outside. But reality snaps back to you as Eddie adds another finger to his mouth.

You let out a slight *gasp*

“Use your words sweetheart. I’ll stop whenever you want.”

You weren’t sure you wanted him to stop, but you should right? You love Steve. It was wrong to use your best friend like this. You’ve told him about your feelings for Steve. Right as you open your mouth to say something Steve comes in the bedroom door and closes it abruptly behind himself.

Warrior candidates will also be included. As a forward, I won't be doing Marcel simply because I don't know enough about him to justify adding him.

Reiner Braun (he/him): Gay

Reiner thinks he's straight. Man does not realize he could even like men until... well, he might never figure it out, tbh. He'll be cuddling with Bertotto, being all cute and giving kisses and then go "no homo" very seriously. Bartholomew has to fight not to scream every single time.

Bertholdt Hoover (he/him): Pansexual

Gender doesn't play a part in who he's attracted to. I think he's into blondes, tbh.

Annie Leonhardt (she/her): Bisexual

Mostly women-attracted, but has liked men before. Junior high made me actually like Burrito and Annie as a couple which is very funny. But she's got a lot of chemistry with Hitch and Mikasa. It's great! She's great!

I could also see her being non-binary and using she/they pronouns.

Pieck Finger (she/her): Lesbian

Pieck clocked Yelena from a mile away, but wasn't about to say anything. Anyway, she likes girls. Why? Vibes.

Porco Galliard (he/him): Gay, Asexual

And yet no time for relationships. That's for his own choosing though. Just because he's attracted to men doesn't mean he intends to date them. He just wants that sweet, sweet warrior status!

Gabi Braun (she/her): Bisexual

Another one far too focused on getting a Titan. Besides, she's, like, 12. No need to rush into a relationship. (Especially if you're not intending to live that long-)

Falco Grice (he/him): Pansexual

Falco, Falco, my sweet Falco. Your attempts at chivalry are sweet, but you don't need to go to all those lengths for a person you love. Especially not Gabi.

Colt Grice (he/him): Bisexual

These kids got no hope of forming bonds. They're being sent to slaughter and paraded around, but I do believe he's thought about who he'd end up with if things were different. I don't think he'd worry about the stigma of liking men. It can't get any worse than everyone thinking you're a literal devil. He's just left to his dreams.

Zeke Jaeger (he/him) (pain in my ass): Queer

Not straight. He doesn't know what he is, nor does he care. It'll figure itself out, if he lives long enough, that is.

(definitely into Levi, though. Because he's a dumby-dumb who only knows pain and suffering)

I first heard Be Steadwell a few months ago, and I haven’t been able to stop listening since. Her voice is gorgeous and her lyrics are funny, thoughtful, sweet, and so honest as to make me cry. Her songs touch on everything from “messy masculinities” to navigating queer relationships without a roadmap to soft love songs to gay sex to angry break-up songs. 

Ferron

Favourite song: Our Purpose Here

Ferron will always hold a special place in my heart as the first lesbian artist my mum played for me after I started dating my first girlfriend — one of quietest, sweetest moments of support I’ve ever experienced. An old-school butch with songwriting talents that have been compared to Leonard Cohen and a deeply comforting voice, Ferron’s music always makes me feel incredibly seen, especially after reading an informal interview with her in which she discussed her dysphoria and the nebulousness of gender. 

Grace Petrie

Genres: folk, indie

Favourite song: Black Tie

Having grown up on Billy Bragg’s protest songs, knowing that he’s shared a stage with a butch lesbian who’s explicitly and wonderfully pro-trans and anti-TERF makes me so incredibly happy. Petrie’s protest songs are both forceful and fun, her love songs are gorgeous, and her songs of queer pride and solidarity regularly make me sob. 

Joy Oladokun

Genres: indie, R&B, pop

Favourite song: Sunday

Oladokun’s music is my most recent “find” on this list, but I immediately fell in love with her amazing voice, relaxing beats, and evocative lyrics. Her songs touch on her experiences as a Black American queer woman — both the pain of systemic racism and homophobia, as well as self-love, queer love, and happiness.

I first came across Reid’s music many years ago when I was on the hunt for sapphic Canadian singers, and I’ve recently rediscovered their amazing talent for lyrical storytelling that’s both funny and heartwrenching. She has an extensive discography, including queer & trans music aimed at educating children — and I desperately love how they talk frankly about the messiness of gender.

Syd and her band The Internet might be the best-known artists on this list, and they absolutely deserve it — Syd’s music is cool, fun, hot, and frankly iconic: if you’ve never made out while listening to Special Affair (The Internet) or Body (Syd), I can highly recommend it. Her sound is just so consistently fantastic.

rooster teeth + their antisemitism.

bringing this thread over but it can also be found on twitter here. ♥ 

disclaimer : i am jewish + have been watching rt's work (mainly rwby) for like 3 years now. i'm not saying they're aggressively antisemitic but bigotry doesn't need to be violent to be bigotry. ignorance is also not an excuse.

the most foremost + prominent of their antisemitic behaviour is their animated show "camp camp", which i've pointed out before in other tweets the absolute bucket full of antisemitic caricatures + "jokes". they were asked about this in an ama + this was their response.

this ... is a piss poor response. the featuring of antisemitism in their show for jokes did nothing to address how cruel + hateful + harmful antisemitism & those who follow that mindset are. they did nothing to "condone" antisemitism in their jokes because there's no push back.

the characters used for these jokes, a literal adolf hitler stand in, are idolized + adored by the fandom. by the creators themselves. all you need to do is google the character's name or look in their tumblr tag + you'll find cute fanart for days. of a literal dictator stand in.

camp camp has been called out by jewish people before, for the weird amount of antisemitic "jokes" in it that feature the character "dolph" (our adolf hitler stand in) targeting the only jewish character in the cast, neil. this features mainly in the episode reigny day.

the show is directed by a jewish man, @/JordanCwierz (not that it excuses the antisemitism, you don't need to propogate hate against your own people with your shitty comedy show) but the episode itself was written by @/kerryshawcross, who is not.

in the episode reigny day; there are multiple references to jewish suffering + prominent jewish figure anne frank. from neil hiding in the attic, writing in his diary; to dolph demanding the other kids write numbers on their arms in reference to the concentration camps.

& for all rt said the want to "condone this hate"; at the end of the episode, dolph is given an award for all he did during the episode. this isn't condemnation, this is literally praise! this is making fun of a genocide that some people still to this day don't believe happened.

and when you look at the comments, well. i'm not seeing any condemnation, rooster teeth. i thought you were shedding light on the dark parts of the world to not condone it? mind telling your fans that?

the references to the tragedies during Shoah (the holocaust) isn't just contained to reigny day; it also featured in the premiere episode of season 2 of camp camp — cult camp. there, they reference the gas chambers used to murder jewish people. & they lampshade it too.

again: while this show is directed + overseen by a jewish man, that does not erase the fact that these tragedies, that are *still denied by a good chunk of people in modern day* are being used for comedic value with no push back or condemnation. & are written by two non jews.

it's even more frustrating when in the episode reigny day, there was a genuinely funny joke about neil's jewish identity that didn't play on tragedy or antisemitism! they can do this but choose to be lazy + co opt a genocide for humour !!

i haven't even gone over the breadth of "jokes" mired in antisemitism or just plain RACISM in that episode but to quote a handful : 

adolph saying juice to mean "jews" when neil was hiding in the attic

adolph not approving of "mixing colours"

adolph does the nazi salute

so this was camp camp. unfortunately, the antisemitism is not contained only to camp camp, it has it's roots in rooster teeth's other main ip; rwby. mainly with the treatment of the characters coco adel + adam taurus, though in different ways + from different audiences.

the antisemitism through coco adel comes from the person her character is modelled after; known nazi collaborator, coco chanel. coco adel is a "fashionista" who follows her teams "themeing" of sweets; her's being chocolate. however a large portion of her design is based on, coco chanel, as seen through her famed necklaces, beret, the bag, her emblem and her colour scheme of black + gold.

while coco chanel is known for her fashion company; she's also known for the fact that she built that fashion company on the back of being a nazi collaborator. this woman spied for + slept with nazis. it's not outright antisemitism but it is uncomfortable + inappropriate.

especially when : a. coco (adel) is a lesbian, + would've been killed by the people that her major inspiration supported & b. we need to stop elevating antisemitic icons to fame because they were "infamous." there were plenty of other fashion designers to use.

i had brought this up before + non jewish people in the rwby fandom were quick to jump to rooster teeth's defence, despite their previous antisemitism, & play the martyr for this company of majority non jewish people.

rooster teeth are not stupid, no matter how much they try to convince you they are so they can have excuses for things like the entire white fang plotline or how may zedong sounding like mao zedong is just a coincidence, or how they refer to a chinese character as a ninja.

from coco we go onto adam which is more of a fandom thing, but has been encouraged with the weird amount of ableism coming from vas + writers alike with his backstory + storyline. adam is a faunus, an ethnic minority in the world of remnant that are poc - coded.  in his backstory he was a child slave to a racist company who was scarred using a branding iron over his eye. this was very reminiscent of african slaves being branded when they tried to escape but is overlooked by the majority white fandom.

people also feed into the hate for this character with a va, arryn zech’s unfounded headcanons that he was a "psychopath who tortured animals as a kid"; miss zech has her own history of ableism that's excused but to put this on a minority character is disgusting.

this all feeds into how the fandom will call adam a "nazi"; he follows his own ideal of how faunus are superior to humans + that they will rule remnant given the chance. a gross mentality but not one appropriate to call him a nazi. why?

because nazism is white supremacy.

nazi ideology is directly tied to the ideal of a white, superior race that should rule. adam is a POC CODED CHARACTER. he is part of the minority in remnant + the writers compared him to malcolm x, which is a whole other bag of cats that is inappropriate for me to comment on.

comparing fictional characters to nazis is antisemitic in and of itself. nazis are still very much real and a dangerous threat to jewish people to this day. we don't need goyim appropriating our struggles + fear to hate on a fictional character. yet it keeps happening.

overall; rooster teeth is not outright with their antisemitism. but that's the point. these are majority non jewish creators either unaware or uncaring of the hatred they are validating + do not care enough to fix it when we are tired of it.  this mentality then bleeds into the fandom itself + puts jewish members of the fandom at risk. it makes us feel uncomfortable, it hurts us to see other members of the fandom idolize people with this mindset + the antisemitic characters they create.

at the end of the day, there is a culture here that has not been addressed completely. they will pay lipservice to jewish fans (with the chanukkah tweet) but then keep playing into stereotypes + harmful antisemites. it has to change + be acknowledged. by rt + the fandom alike. @ people in the rooster teeth fandom, who enjoy rwby or camp camp, LISTEN TO JEWISH PEOPLE. we are uncomfortable!! we are hurting!! we are tired of you not fucking listening to us because you don't think it's antisemitic as if you're the people being hurt. do fucking better.

we’ve been mutuals for ages so i thought it was time to ask about your unpopular atla/tlok/kyoshi opinions :D

xD Tbh I feel like my opinions tend to be more controversial with Avatar than unpopular. Obviously I'm open to discussion if anyone wants to have one or if anyone needs clarification on any of these opinions lol. My goal isn't to cause fighting and more discourse but rather open up some discussion. Mostly I'm a to each their own kind of person; even if I don't like a certain ship or agree with certain headcanons I won't be bashing people who do ship/have them. And I don't think that xyz headcanon is wrong just because I disagree with that.

Disclaimers aside lol;

Some of the ones that I know are unpopular for Avatar:

I don't ship Azula/Therapy (there's a lot to get into here and I've done it quite a bit). My bottom line is that I don't mind Azula/Therapy so long as it isn't being used as a means to belittle people who do ship her with other characters. I'm also fine with it in the light that Azula/Character while she's getting therapy or something like that. There's a lot more to it, anyone can feel free to ask for clarification here. But I kind of don't really even see it as a ship so much as a concept. And as a joke I don't really find it that funny as I feel like it takes a very serious topic and makes it sound 'cute' or 'quirky' and that just ain't it for me.

I don't ship Zukka. Tbh I don't really feel strongly about it at all.

I don't ship Mailee either. I've seen quite a bit of Mailee content that is pretty anti-Azula so I tend to just stay away from that. Though I'm down for recs with fic and art that aren't anti-Azula

I don't think that Azula is a lesbian. I feel like she is Bi/Ace or Aro/Ace. Which is probably due to me being aro/ace and wanting some rep lol.

I am very very neutral to Suki. I feel like a lot of people really like her. I think she's just eh. I have no strong opinion on her either which way.

I don't really hate any character. There are some characters I like less/don't find as interesting but I don't really hate any of them.

I do feel kind of bad for Ozai as he was also probably abused as a kid. The reason I don't feel as though he's redeemable though is because he's a grown man who is pretty set in his ways.

Foamy mouth guy isn't funny.

I feel like Katara's power/strength is more in healing than fighting. Like that's her specialty and it kind of bothers me when people downplay that because imo it's refreshing to have a character who is considered great and powerful not because they are the strongest fighter but because they are a great healer and defender. Aang is also a good example of this.

I don't really talk about this much because it really isn't that deep xD but I get confused when people talk about Katara's bloodbending as if she can just do it any time??? Correct me if I'm wrong but she can only do it during a full moon. Amon and his family are the only people who could do it without a full moon. So it kind of bothers me when people just casually toss 'oh Katara could totally kick Azula/Toph/Zuko's ass with bloodbending anytime.'

I like both Azula and Zuko and feel like both of them either get babied or demonized. And that takes away from the complexities of both of their characters.

Iroh isn't completely wise. He has moments where he's not morally correct. And he should have moments like this because it would be unrealistic for him to never do wrong ever.

Kataang vs Zutara is getting really old.

I feel like this fandom can be very hostile to Azula fans and it gets hard to deal with so sometimes I have to just avoid the tag for a while. Idk if this one is an unpopular opinion or if other people feel the same. But then again I've heard that Katara and Aang have also had an influx of hate as well. In general it's just sad to see such cool characters getting talked about in the ways that some people talk about them. I've seen people say that "it's Azula's fault that she's being abused by Ozai" and "Katara needs to shut up about her mom and move on" and "Zuko is whiney and overdramatic." And these statements are just :S Basically I wish that the nice people could start talking over all of the people who just seem to enjoy bashing their least favorite characters more than they like talking about their favorites.

I don't entirely hate the comics. There are aspects of them that I hate but there are also parts that I really enjoyed.

Not a fan of Suyin. Not just because I like Kuvira but also because of her backstory with Lin. NGL she struck me as kind of a brat.

I'm not a big fan of Opal or Zhu Li either. Like I don't hate either of them but they just aren't my cup of tea.

I liked Tanho from the start.

Meelo is kind of annoying imo.

I don't like Mako at all. He lost me when he cheated on Asami.

Idk if this is unpopular but I didn't really like season 2.

I was kind of disappointed with Kuvira's backstory. I liked aspects of it but I had different expectations.

I don't think that it was a rushed backstory so much as the writers only had like 80 pages per comic to work with. It would have been better if it were in the show or something.

Korra wasn't a bad Avatar. She had her own road blocks to overcome and her own learning to do just like Aang.

I don't really have any for Kyoshi except for maybe that I don't think that Kyoshi is this aggressive murder machine lol.

oh yeah. here are my #thoughts on netflix a81 btw. (it’s long)

disclaimer these are just my thoughts from watching it once & all in a single day like two days ago. there were things i liked and things i didn’t like! obviously the biggest thing i didn’t like was melody not being gay but i feel like that’s been gone over so many times and i’ve been angry about it so long i’m kind of just tired so. moving on! 

things i liked: 

- the sound design - i know the creator said they were inspired by the podcast’s incredible sound design, and it really showed. i listened to most of the episodes with earbuds in, and that was definitely the best way to go - sometimes the most enjoyable part of a scene was just how it sounded. 

- ratty was there 💗💗💗 and he even lived maybe 

- i genuinely enjoyed mark’s character i thought he was funny and he had a fun role in the tv show. i do wish he’d had more petty gay best friend energy but i guess that’s harder to show off when dan doesn’t have a girlfriend for him to hate

- i LOVED the cold opens at the start of every episode & i thought that was the closest they got to the spirit of the podcast - it especially reminded me of s2 and all the weird seemingly unrelated tapes that tied into the overarching story dan had to figure out. 

- rat (jacob?) wasn’t there ❤️

things i didn’t like: 

- my genuine biggest complaint (asides from melody making out w samuel) was the change in motivation for melody and dan? one of my favorite parts of s1 in the podcast is how in a way they’re both motivated simply by the need to finish the story. this is more obvious in dan and less so in melody (since she’s also motivated by finding jesse) but it’s still true for both of them, and i remember that being a big draw for me as a person who loves discussion of narrative in media and when characters are aware they are in a story....that is simply My Thing. so to have that taken away to give dan and melody motivations that are? both partially based off of parents (dan wanting to know why his dad is in the tapes/tragic backstory tying in/invested in melody’s fate specifically & melody looking for her mother in visser being her only motivator before getting deeper into it w anabelle & samuel, etc) felt like Such a downgrade for me and evidence of honestly lazier storywriting. 

- how everything was connected and everyone was related. when davenport said samuel was his brother........ bro this isn’t once upon a time it’s a horror tv show. plus melody being dan’s dad’s patient & dan’s family dying because of visser stuff & melody being related to some ancient witches...idk i paid less attention towards the end. OH and melody’s mom being the groundskeeper kjdsghkf like. i’m so sorry i did not care about that at all. 

- related to both of the above but giving dan a tragic backstory made him so less just some guy.....like podcast dan is truly Just Some Guy and i felt like we were missing that. also podcast dan is more of a loser (i mean this in a nice way)  

- whatever was going on with the plot in the 1920s. sorry i didn’t really pay attention i spent most of the time trying to figure out who was playing iris vos cause she wasn’t listed on imdb yet (believe it or not :/ i recognized her from a ouat role from like 2015. also from watching fringe with my dad over the summer. anyway)

- a lot of other people said this but the downgrade from eldritch unknowable leviathans to religious horror/a demon with a name....not fun! not a fan!! i kept waiting for all the religious stuff to kind of like. be something else when the curtain got pulled back but it never happened. especially upsetting since they all kept referencing ‘the otherworld’ and then it was just a weird little dream sequeunce like.....no dude i want the world where the city is!! where the blacktop is!!!! 

- the only canon lesbian being an evil cultist :/ when it should have been melody 

in conclusion: i think it’s a perfectly okay adaptation of the podcast - it makes sense that there had to be a lot of new stuff, as other people have said again they had to expand a roughly 2 hour podcast into an 8 hour tv show so there would need to be a lot of new information. but boy they were not kidding when they said ‘loosely based’ huh  i also thought it was really cool to have a horror tv show with a black lead and multiple important characters of color, and i think all the actors did a really good job! however storywise i felt like the horror was a step down from where it was in the podcast and honestly </3 just wasn’t that scary. i wish they hadn’t been afraid to be weirder - they went there a few times w the cold opens & ratty!! a lot of the other horror stuff just felt very unoriginal to me though. anyway once again these are literally just my thoughts you do not have to agree with them at all lmao. if u read this far thank u i appreciate it and i hope this was legible. i’m gonna go relisten to a81 the podcast again now see ya

Rating Every Song on Fearless Based on How Gay it is

Hello friends! I still have a few song analyses in the pipeline (and one on Lover the album) but today in honor of Fearless (Taylor’s Edition) being announced and Love Story being released in a few hours I thought I’d do something fun to celebrate!

And you know what? Fuck my usual disclaimer, I am the word of god here. Try and change my mind about any of these. I dare you. (I kid I kid this isn’t that serious and you’re free to disagree <3)

1. Fearless 15/10

Everything about this song is so fucking gay oh my god. This isn’t a fruit, this is a whole ass edible arrangement. As a small rural town Gay (my hometown has a population of less that 4,000 and where I’m living now has a population of 2,500) this uh. Hits.

“And I don't know how it gets better than this/You take my hand and drag me head first, fearless”

Y’ALL

The idea of falling in love with someone who makes you less afraid of your homophobic small town…….it’s getting to me.

“My hands shake, I'm not usually this way but/You pull me in and I'm a little more brave/It's the first kiss, it's flawless, really something/It's fearless”

This is making me emotional, I'll be honest. I see so much of my friends and my experience in high school in this song. 

This quote I found on genius is from when the album was released on BMR’s website.

“When I wrote ‘Fearless,’ I wasn’t dating anyone. I wasn’t even in the beginning stages of dating anybody. I really was all by myself out on tour and I got this idea for a song about the best first date. I think sometimes when you’re writing love songs, you don’t write them about what you’re going through at the moment, you write about what you wish you had. So, this song is about the best first date I haven’t had yet.”

This just screams baby Tay writing gay folklore to me, about the gay stories she wish she had. Notice how there are no pronouns in this song??? Fruity I’m telling you.

All that to say. I’m crying because the linear note says “I loved you before I met you” and I want to go listen to Long Story Short and cry now.

2. Fifteen 1/10

Objectively pretty straight as she’s singing about her and Abigail’s dating boys in HS. And Taylor got with a senior guy. Good for her I suppose.

Unless he was one of the shitty ones in which case.

“This is life before you know who you're gonna be”

This however, is a cute line and the whole song makes me warm and nostalgic. You can also hear her crying after the line “and Abigail gave everything she had to a boy who changed his mind” which makes me emo and I’m sure will take on new depth after Abigail’s divorce and hurt me even more.

Other highlights that make me sob include.

“When all you wanted was to be wanted/Wish you could go back and tell yourself what you know now/Back then I swore I was gonna marry him someday/But I realized some bigger dreams of mine”

Bigger dreams of hers indeed :’)

(Also how can you say she’s a gold star lesbian when this song exists. She was obviously dating boys in high school and even if you think she’s a lesbian. Comp het is a hell of a drug kids.)

3. Love Story 8/10

Tried to change the ending indeed.

This is THE Taylor Swift song, and maybe it’s the nostalgia talking but damn I still love it. Written because she wanted to change the ending of Romeo and Juliet (how anyone likes RandJ enough to want to rewrite I have no clue.) and/or because her parents didn’t approve of a guy she was seeing. (according to genius, it would’ve been too early for Joe J so it could possibly be Boys Like Girls frontman, his image did clash with hers and they did release some cute songs together. However if you want my take it’s probably folklore about Emily, take for what you will)

This song has very oft gay vibes with the ‘They don’t approve of our love angle!’ but uses male pronouns so points redacted for that. HOWEVER this is a very early use of ~the male perspective~ in Taylor’s songs and for that it deserves all the love.

“ So I sneak out to the garden to see you/We keep quiet, 'cause we're dead if they knew/So close your eyes/Escape this town for a little while”

More rural town angst!!!

Nothing gets me more than rural town angst.

Originally the lyric was “this love is different”. Granted I do not remember the source, i’s just lore implanted into my brain, but make of that what you will.

Also worth noting. This is Karlie’s (and Kim K’s lmao) favorite Taylor song which. While basic as hell. Makes this cover sad as hell to this former Kaylor. (thanks @swiftgron-get-married for the tears <3)

Also not to make this about a man AGAIN but the secret message is “Some day I’ll find this” AND SHE DID IM CRYING.

4. Hey Stephen 1/10

The one thing Camilla Cabello and I have in common is loving this song, so I have to live with that for the rest of my life.

This song is very painfully straight.

How can you think this woman is a gold star lesbian.

The only noteworthy thing is that this is one of the few songs she confirms who it’s about. The secret message is “Love and Theft” which is the name of a country music duo who went on to open her Fearless tour. Which, does make me side eye this song a little bit.

Still a cute song.

5. White Horse 1/10

Oh look. It’s track five. 

You know maybe this is just me being a bitch but in my ranking of track fives this is. Pretty low. Maybe on the bottom.

Ah yes. The other THE Taylor Swift song.

You know. If I went to a high school with a cheerleading squad. And I had a crush on a cheerleader. I would blast this song. So for that it gets a 5/10. Otherwise. Fairly straight and fairly iconic.

7. Breathe 8/10

Well. We know this one is about a woman. (Emily Poe for those not in the know. Ha. A rhyme!) That alone has an 8/10. And it’s the first time she has a featured artist so bonus points for that!

It was nominated for a Grammy and it fucking lost to Jason Mraz. When’s the last time you thought about Jason Mraz.

I will not have Kaylor feels on a fucking Fearless song but damn is it VERY easy.

“Never a clean break, no one here to save me/You're the only thing I know like the back of my hand”

“It's 2 A.M, feeling like I just lost a friend/Hope you know it's not easy, easy for me”

Also this bridge? Goes off. HIGHLY underrated. 

8. Tell Me Why 3/10

You know. Maybe this album isn’t as gay as I once thought.

This song does bop though, not as good as her other angry songs on this album. But I can vibe with this you know. Why are you being an asshole mysterious man.

“You could write a book on how to ruin someone's perfect day”

This has to be one of baby Tay’s best burns. Damn. 

“Why do you have to make me feel small/So you can feel whole inside?/Why do you have to put down my dreams/So you're the only thing on my mind?”

Men ain’t shit kids. However, bonus points for the shade. 

9. You’re not Sorry 1/10

Ok, ok. Maybe this was a foolish endeavor.

Because yet again we have a very straight song. A good song. That was on Taylor’s episode of CSI. But oh dear. Very straight. Gets a measly one point. We started this post off so very very gay but damn. We seem to be nearing the end on a very straight note.

10. The Way I Loved You 20/10

Hey Remember what I said about this album being very straight.

WELL THAT WAS A LIE.

Is this a comphet album or am I projecting.

This is one of my favorite baby gay Taylor songs. Her masterful use of pronouns (he is sensible! And so incredible! And all my single friends are jealous! But I miss screaming and fighting and kissing in the rain, when it was two am and I was cursing your name!) makes the other person she’s singing about completely vague, while we know she isn’t happy with whichever guy she’s dating.

Mayhaps an early reaction to PRomances?

Either way this song is so good, truly an underrated gay gem I mean. Look at it.

“Breaking down and coming undone/It's a roller coaster kind of rush/And I never knew I could feel that much/And that's the way I loved you”

AND THE BRIDGE. Do all of her gay songs just have kickass bridges?

Also please watch the live performance of it from the Fearless tour. It’s such a damn shame this got cut from the movie and some woman in the front row is wearing a cowboy hat. Everyone is holding up those cameras everyone had to have before smartphones. Taylor is being endearing. It’s a good time.

11. Forever and Always 6/10

Bonus points for the ~drama~ of it all. Added last minute to the album? The iconic throwing of the chair in live performances?? All of it very dramatique and for that we stan.

Still pretty straight.

Also Joe Jonas responded to the song and why do I find his response so damn funny. “It’s part of being a musician, I guess. You write songs about each other.”

This is another song where the idea of Taylor’s grown up vocals on this is………..whew

12. The Best Day 0/10

This gets zero points because it’s about her literal mom.

Still makes me cry.

13. Change 13/10

We start the official tracklist with a gay song. We end it with a gay song.

We will ignore that it was originally written for Scott and BMR and instead induct it into the hall of gay pride anthems, as it should be.

This song is gay because I choose it to be. <3

Like. Picture baby Taylor writing this song and playing it on her guitar to a girl she has a crush on telling her that she’ll protect her and they’ll be safe and in love and happy together. Gah, maybe I’m ~projecting~ but this sweet ass song always gets me and is EASILY in my top five Taylor songs. Super underrated and hecking cute.

Like. Look at this shit.

“Alright boys!! Sit down at your respective places so we can get started!!!” Alina instructs the members with a huge smile on her face. They all nod and sit on the chairs.

“These chairs are surely comfortable!” Jimin remarks.

“I know!!! I’m so excited for all of you to answer these juicy questions!!” Alina winks as a warning, the boys look at her with a weird expression on their faces.

“Can you calm down? You’re creeping me out.” Taehyung sighs deeply at the girl. For the first time ever the rest of the members nod in agreement with Taehyung.

“Whatever, Taehyung!! Let’s begin, shall we??” Alina questions them carefully. The looks on their faces change from disgusted to starstruck as they nod immediately.

Alina shakes her head and takes a deep breath. “Okay, the first question is,” she starts to turn the pages on her journal. Her face immediately heated up in embarrassment.

“Okay here goes nothing!!!”

01: Hey boys, how would you be if y / n preferred affectionate and calm sex and hated rough sex?

Yoongi’s eyes widen at the question while Jimin laughs. Jungkook blushes terribly and Namjoon tries to cover his face. Hoseok’s eyes are the same size of a soccer ball. Jin takes a deep breath as he tries to compose his flushed self.

“I prefer rough sex but I can make exceptions for Y/N, I can be pretty soft in bed, too.” Taehyung replies almost immediately.

His face void of any emotion as he shrugs.

“Aww Y/N seems like a softie!! Me too! I wouldn’t mind of course!! The only thing I care about is Y/N’s pleasure and happiness!” Jimin decides to answer confidently.

Jungkook decides to think carefully, after a few moments he replies. “M-Me too!! I can do anything for Y/N!! I’ll do anything in bed that Y/N wants.”

“Me too.” Jin speaks up. “Affection is important in intimacy. Sex is about pleasure and not pain.” He adds on to his sentence carefully.

Alina just nods in agreement, feeling awkward when three voices speak up at the same time. “Me too!” Yoongi, Hoseok and Namjoon add. “But I can bet I’ll make Y/N like it rough too.” Hoseok winks. A laugh erupted from Jimin. “He’s so funny!! Isn’t he?”

Alina decides to laugh it off and continue with the next question. “Next question!!!”

02: despite all of you being fans of y / n, do you still have relationships even if only sexually with someone else?

“Fans?” They all speak. “First off, we’re not fans of Y/N. We’re her lovers. I hope that’s cleared up for you. Sweetheart.” Namjoon corrects the question. They all look so offended. “No! Never ever!! No we don’t. We’re all waiting for Y/N!” Hoseok answers. They all nod, blushing.

“Haha cute!! Let’s move on!” Alina decides to read the third question to the boys.

03: How did you get to know that y / n is a lesbian and that you are going to marry your girlfriend?

They all look at Alina with confusion. Alina just shrugs. “Y/N is a lesbian? And we have girlfriends that we’re going to marry?”

They all laugh. Taehyung tries to hold his stomach while wiping his tears. “Sorry for our behaviour but last time we checked, Y/N is not a lesbian and we don’t have any girlfriends?” They clear the air up. “I mean Y/N’s not my girlfriend, yet.” Jimin winks. “We respect the lgbt community but Y/N’s definitely not a lesbian. She is not. Right?” Jungkook asks.

Alina nods after thinking about it. “Probably? Ok next question.”

04:Hey, do you know that y / n has been getting fat lately and that she intends to keep getting fat because she feels better that way. So, do you care about her weight or that she is now fat?(I hope not, because if you complain about her weight, I will beat you all up)

“What? That’s her choice and we can't interfere with her decision because it’s her own body.” Jin speaks up,

for the first time actually speaking up as the leader. “But if anything concerns her health in a negative way then we’ll talk to Y/N because if she’s here, we’re here.” They nod. “What’s the next question, Ms Alina?” Hoseok smiles at is the young girl.

“And there is no need to beat us up please. We love Y/N for her personality and not because of her body.” Namjoon chuckles.

05: What's y/ns love language receiving and giving?

Jungkook raises his hand “I-I know!!”

His doe is eyes aging in adoration and love. “h-her receiving is acts of service and giving is words of affection!!” He smiles at the thought of you and him together,

when Jimin interrupts his little daydream. “Next question!”Jungkook rolls his eyes, “jealous fucker.” He whispers.

06: fanclub, what would you do if someone physically harmed y/n?

Their eyes widen at the thought of you getting hurt. “I’d skin that motherfucker alive!” Jungkook growls, his voice sounding deeper than before.

Yoongi shakes his head. “I’d hurt them back even worse after taking care of Y/N.” He speaks, his posture calm.

Namjoon smiles, “we have made special arrangements for an occasion like that.” His words were carefully chosen, Jin just nods along.

“Everything is fair in love and war.” Jimin ends the conversation. Dark glint present in his eyes.

A cracking noise rings through the room. “We’ll kill them.” Hoseok warns.

Taehyung notices the swearing girl and smirks. “Are you okay there, miss author?” Alina snaps out of her thoughts and nods.

“We should continue!” She beams. They nod.

07: fanclub, why do you love y/n? What is so special about them?

“She is just so lovable? She’s everything we would want, her presence makes us so happy, she’s our sunshine, she’s the most genuine and precious human being on this dirty planet, she’s our heart. She’s the most amazing girl in the entire universe. She makes us so happy. She’s the source of our life. She’s our everything. How can we not love a genuine person like her?” They trail off,

the tone of their voice sounding lovesick. “W-Wow!! You guys are whipped eh?” Alina smiles, her eyes wide at their speech.

“Yes! She’s so sweet and nice and perfect!” Jungkook giggles cutely.

08: Hey, guys, what are you going to do when y / n retire?

Their smiles fall. “We will always be with her, even if she graduates before us.” “Please read the next question, Alina.” Namjoon commands.

how would you be if you found out that y / n is actually a manipulative, calculating, insensitive and selfish person?

They raise their eyebrows. “And what makes you think that she’s a vile person like that?” Hoseok questions back. “Y/N is not like that and that’s just not possible. We’ll never judge our queen.” Jimin cautiously answers.

09: fanclub, when will you eventually kidnap y/n? how will that go down?

They relax back. “There’s no need for kidnapping and such. We’re not the classic Yanderes,” Jin smirks at the question. “We’re the modern generation of them. Kidnapping is now irrelevant.”

Alina looks at them with confusion.

“You won’t understand, author, let’s continue.”Jimin laughs.

10: do you have prizes and such? like if you do this you’ll win y/n’s sweater or something? if so, what are the prizes?

Their eyes light up at the mention of prizes. “Yes! We do! But it’s still in the making, since Hoseok is too slow collecting Y/N’s souvenirs.” Taehyung rolls his eyes. “I’ll win every Y/N prize! Just you people watch. After all I never loose!” Jungkook grits his teeth in determination. “Blah blah blah!~” jimin sings.

“Ah ah ah! Next question!” Alina speaks but her smile falls upon reading the question. “Umm I don’t think I should read this.. this could cause a fight..”

Namjoon looks at her suspiciously. “What do you mean?”

“Yeah Alina, read it. We won’t fight.” Jimin promises.

“Umm alright..”

11: how would the fanclub react to y/n just liking one member? like she’ll give hobi all of her attention and affection and doesn’t even acknowledge the other member’s existence?

Jungkook and Jimin stand up from their chairs. “What do you mean she’ll give Hoseok all of the attention? I’m way cuter and smart! I should be the one having all of the attention!” Jimin snaps. Hoseok stands up too, looking offended. “You’re just jealous Jimin that I get to have all of Y/N’s attention, and you, Jungkook.” Hoseok comes closer to the youngest. “What’s that look you’re giving me, you want to kill me boy?” Hoseok micks Jungkook’s expression.

Jungkook doesn’t think twice before punching him straight in the jaw. “Fuck yes! I’ll fucking murder you!” He screams. The rest of the club stands up. Alina begins to panic as the boys try to hold Jungkook back.

Alina covers her ears at the loud bickering sounds echoing. “I’m so sorry people! But we’ll continue this tomorrow maybe? I fucking quit.” She exited the room.

RWBY Volume 6

So, I pretty much binge-watched this one in a few days because I really needed to know how things go on after Volume 5 and it was just so good! Lots of messy thoughts to come!

[There will be spoilers for RWBY up to Volume 6 in this post (duh). Please don’t leave any spoilers for anything after Volume 6 on this post, or I will block you.]

Thoughts under the cut because this ended up getting a little long.

- The character short for Adam was really cool! It was cool to see how the White Fang began, to see Sienna, Ghira, Ilia and Adam in action, to see the irony of Sienna being a mentor to Adam and encouraging his ways when you know he’ll end up killing her, and to see a glimpse into Adam and Blake’s past relationship (and how the stuff he said to her was textbook emotional abuse). However, I do have one criticism, and it’s something that really bothers me: There’s a continuity mistake with Ilia’s age. Let’s think about this: Ilia was always implied to be the same age (or around the same age) as Blake. In the part of this short where Ghira was still leader of the White Fang, Ilia appears and doesn’t look younger than in canon. But we know Ghira stepped down at least a few years ago. If Blake is meant to be a teenager in volume 1… there’s just no way Ilia could have been there and already been an adult. She’s supposed to have still been a kid when Ghira was leader, unless she’s at least a few years older than Blake – which I don’t think she’s meant to be? Yeah sorry, this kind of stuff just bothers me. I get that timelines can be hard to keep track off, but that was a really obvious mistake and it ruins my immersion a bit.

- I loved the whole opening fight on the train and just seeing team RWBY fighting together again.

- I’ve got to say, I do feel bad for Weiss: After everything she went through to leave Atlas, she now suddenly has to go back there. I mean, that must suck.

- I’m a bit sad they just but Ilia on a bus, but I get that her main conflict is pretty much over and they had to go back to focusing on the main characters’ quest. I still wish we’d have at least gotten a scene of her interacting with the other members of team RWBY, though.

- I really liked Ilia and Blake’s goodbye at the train station, though. (And the whole “wrong tree” moment with Neptune really made me laugh 😂)

- Also just wanted to say I love Ilia’s new outfit (and the fact that she has spots on her belly – this is really important information, okay?)

- There’s a certain irony in the Faunus becoming more accepted because they STOPPED Adam’s attack on Haven.

- I think Jinn and the whole concept of how asking her questions works is super cool.

- I totally get why everyone’s pissed at Ozpin both before, during and after Jinn revealed his and Salem’s backstory. He has been hiding an awful lot from everyone, even after promising not to anymore, and he actively tried to stop the team from finding out the truth. Plus, the whole fact that he doesn’t have a plan for defeating Salem and is potentially risking everyone’s lives for nothing. (That said, can they not take it out on poor Oscar, please? None of this is his fault.)

- Oscar fighting Ozpin from within and telling them how to summon Jinn was a really badass scene. And I feel super bad for Oscar overall. Not only is he kind of at war with someone who lives in his brain now, but he also just found out that he’ll eventually only become a part of Ozma. And on top of that, people are punching and blaming him for stuff that’s not his fault. That’s super harsh.

- I’m kind of glad Cinder’s alive, because as I said, I was hoping they’d develop her more and make her a more interesting villain… but I don’t feel like this volume did that. Right now, she’s still pretty superficial, unfortunately.

- And now, time to get into one of the highlights of this volume for me: Salem’s backstory! Because holy shit, that was one hell of a backstory! When I said back in my post about volume 5 that I hope Cinder’s alive because I would like to see them make her a more interesting villain, I didn’t expect them to do just that, but for Salem. I love villains that are interesting, but I didn’t expect Salem, the literal big bad of the show, to be the interesting one here! I am pleasantly surprised by this, though! (And just to be clear, because some people love to misunderstand this: When I say “interesting”, I don’t mean “She has a sad backstory, this excuses everything she’s doing”, I mean “She has a sad backstory, this makes her more compelling as a villain”.)

- So, about that backstory: Do we all agree that the gods are major jerks, or what? I mean, initially not bringing Ozma back to life was fair, death is a part of life, they can’t upset the balance, I get that – but making him repeatedly disintegrate in Salem’s arms after she just thought she’d gotten him back? And then making her immortal just to make sure she couldn’t be with him? And then killing ALL of humanity just because of the actions of a few? But still not letting Salem die? And then bringing Ozma back after all (because now it suddenly doesn’t ‘disrupt the balance’ or what?) and kind of tricking him into that whole relics task because he wanted to be with Salem? The god are jerks, I rest my case - and I’m not sure if bringing them back is a good idea.

- Also… I get that she’s like… evil and all… but am I the only one who thought Salem got way sexier after jumping into the pools of grimm? Is that just me? Because damn… I’m kinda into that version of her. (Come on, she’s a sexy goth witch and I’m a simple lesbian, what do you expect?)

- So yeah… in an unexpected turn of events, Salem might be one of my favourite characters now? Oops? (*insert obligatory ‘this does not mean I condone her actions in any way’ disclaimer here*)

- I feel super bad for Salem and Ozma’s kids, though. I hate kids getting hurt in media in general. (I imagine the grief over them stayed with Ozma forever. And I like the theory that he gave the original four maidens their powers because they reminded him of his daughters. In general, I don’t consider him to be the bad guy in this backstory at any point. His only mistake is not being honest with the people who are helping and protecting him in the present.)

- I am now convinced that this entire show has to end with Salem and Ozma dying. That’s the only way all of this can end. Salem will have to either be killed somehow or learn the lesson the gods tried to teach her and die. Ozma will have to fulfill his task and die as well – either through Oscar dying with him (😢), through only Ozma dying but Oscar getting to live without him, or through the reincarnation cycle ending and Ozma/Ozpin recognizing that Oscar is going to be his last life. Something like that would be my prediction.

- Speaking of interesting villains: This volume also did a great job with Emerald and Mercury! With those two, I’m actually hoping for a redemption now. (And Hazel is a great guy as well. The fact that he was willing to take the blame for their failure at Haven to protect Emerald and Mercury is something I really respect.)

- I also I want to say I find Tyrion super entertaining.

- It was great to see Neo again! (I’ve gotten so used to Chibi!Neo it was almost weird to see regular Neo again.) Her fight with Cinder was EPIC.

- (I basically feel like this volume did a great job on all villains except for Cinder. But hey, maybe that’ll still happen.)

- This was an interesting volume for Qrow. On the one hand, I get why hearing Oz’s backstory drove him into a sort-of depression and made his drinking habit worse and I feel bad for him, but from the point-of-view of Ruby and the others, it must have also been super frustrating that the one proper adult in the group couldn’t keep it together and everyone else had to keep doing the hard work.

- Maria is a super cool and epic character! I really hope she sticks around with the team for Volume 7 because she’s amazing and I love her. She was super badass in her backstory (that moment where she lost her eyes was painful just to watch), I love the fact that she was Qrow’s hero growing up (and that he based his weapon on hers!), that we finally met another character who has (well, had) silver eyes, and that she’s that funny, cranky, but also wise old lady now who mentors Ruby and is just super funny all around. Good stuff, I hope we see more of her!

- The Apathy are the creepiest grim yet. The whole concept of them draining you of your will to live without you even noticing is just SO scary – I love it, but I’m also low-key terrified. The crew’s trip to that farm estate could have easily gone very wrong. Pretty much nothing but Ruby’s silver eyes even worked on them. I like how those episodes set the whole thing up – Team RWBY having emotional conversations while they were in the house, everyone having doubts (which makes sense at that point in the story, so you don’t really question it at first), and then the sneaking realization of what’s going on. Also, the guy who sealed in those Apathy grim in in the first place was just so dumb. How could you think that was a good idea? Good job getting everyone killed, dude.

- I’m glad this volume gave us more on Ruby’s silver eyes! I like that she finally got to use them before the season finale (though I loved that joke on RWBY Chibi), and I also like that she first used them to protect Blake. (I don’t ship them as much as Bumbleby, but I feel like Ruby and Blake’s ship/friendship is super underrated.) It was also nice to learn more about how the Silver eyes work in general and how they came to be. (If they came from the god of light, I’m assuming all the people with silver eyes are the descendants of Ozma’s past lives? TV Tropes kind of helped me out here: Apparently if you freeze the picture where you see one of his past lives with his kids, you can see the kids have silver eyes.) People with silver eyes being hunted also comes as no surprise to me, that’s kind of what I was assuming already. (Which raises the question: Just how did Summer Rose die?) Also, interesting fact that they only work on the Grimm...

- That moment where they reunite with JNR in Argus was really sweet. I also loved the design of Argus as a whole.

- I LOVE Saphron, Terra, and their son!!! I love that we got to meet one of Jaune’s sisters, I love that we got some more LGBT+ representation, and their baby is adorable!! (I loved that scene of everyone cooing over the baby. Also, that moment where Ruby realized Jaune and Saphron were siblings. Also, that moment where the baby helped them distract the guards by crying.) Basically, I just love the Cotta-Arcs. (Also, I just want to say that Saphron is super pretty.)

- Cordovin and her two goons are hilarious. I mean, I also hate them because they’re overly patriotic Atlas-people and Cordovin was racist to Blake – but they’re also super freaking hilarious. Every little line of Maria and Cordovin’s beef with each other had my dying with laughter 🤣 (mainly it was Maria’s lines that had me dying with laughter).

- That whole scene with the statue of Pyrrha was such a tearjerker 😢. First the leaf, then the sad music, then Jaune talking to that red-haired lady (I’m guessing she’s either Pyrrha’s mom or sister?), and then Ren and Nora joining and giving Jaune a pep-talk 😭 😭. I think this was a really important moment for Jaune, not just to get closure, but also to stop blaming himself and putting himself down. I’m glad Ren and Nora told him they don’t want to lose him too, and that the red-haired lady said she’s “glad Pyrrha was surrounded by such amazing people”. Gosh, now I’m tearing up again writing this 😭. I miss Pyrrha 😭 😭.

- I love Oscar’s new outfit. It was time for him to finally drop the farm boy look.

- I love how Jaune is so down for crime that his plan is just “They only let Atlas airships though, so we steal an Atlas airship.” I mean, makes sense.

- I think their whole plan to steal the airship was super cool and although I get why things can’t be that easy in shows like this (and I love that we got the showdown with Adam), I still kind of wish it had worked just because it was a really cool plan and everyone had their part to play in it. Heck, even the baby got to help (and it was awesome)! But yeah, Adam just had to ruin everything, nothing new there.

- So, about Adam: First of all, he’s a major creep for victim-blaming Blake (again) and stalking her. I like how creepy his behaviour is from a story-telling perspective (and from an angst-loving “I like seeing my faves suffer” perspective), but his story was getting a little old, so I’m not too sad they killed him off now. It was a good point in the story to do it. (That said, holy shit is he a creep! “I wouldn’t have to be doing this if you just behaved”? Wow. I get that he’s meant to be abusive and controlling; that’s the point of his character (and like I said, I’m here for the angst), but… yikes, poor Blake.)

- And then we had Blake and Yang’s rematch with Adam. EPIC STUFF. First of all, I like that Blake was able to hold her own against him for a bit (and same for Yang later). I also love the whole dramatic setting by the waterfall and the fact that Blake lost her coat (this is important, okay? it symbolizes vulnerability – and also it just looks cool), the scar on Blake’s belly (from their fight at Beacon, right?), the face reveal of Adam – I just love how all of this was set up in such an epic, dramatic way. But the most epic moment, at least from the start of the fight, has got to be Yang just jumping down there with her motorcycle hitting Adam and that amazing music. I’ve said before that Yang is just too cool for words and I will stand by that. The fight itself was epic too, though I was so stressed the whole time I couldn’t completely pay attention. Blake and Yang fighting Adam together was definitely the best part, though. And I loved the irony of Yang’s metal arm saving her. In general, I like that Yang and Blake got to fight and defeat (and kill) Adam together because he’s been a demon for both of them, and I like that they clarified they’re doing it as equal partners. “We’re protecting each other” was a nice callback to earlier when Blake tried to reassure Yang she’d protect her, and to even earlier when Yang was protecting Blake at Beacon.

- Let’s talk about my other highlight of the volume: Bumbleby! Because sorry not sorry, there’s no way you can deny their romantic subtext anymore at this point. Early in the volume, there’s the conflict of things being weird between them, and Blake not knowing how to deal with her guilt and thinking she needs to protect Yang (and do stuff like getting her bag down for her) – while Yang feels insulted by this and thinks that Blake sees her as being incapable of doing anything now that she lost an arm. Then, when Blake first leaves to disable the comms, they give each other those really sweet, loving looks. And of course, it all leads up to them confronting their nightmare together, holding hands, and declaring that they’re protecting each other. Add Adam’s jealousy to that (He was making comparisons between himself and Yang and asking “What does she even see in you?” – that’s not a sentence you just say to your ex’s friend) and you’d have to be willfully ignorant to not see the subtext. And those soft moments after the fight just killed me: Blake breaking down crying, Yang immediately running to hug and comfort her, Blake’s promise not to leave, Yang reassuring her and wiping away her tears – I LOVE hurt/comfort stuff and I’m so soft for these two! They love each other so much!

(Pretty much the only downside of all this is that a few major parts were spoiled for me in advance. Look, it’s pretty impossible to follow lots of blogs that post wlw ships and not see that picture of Bumbleby holding hands, or the one of them hugging (or the one of them killing Adam) at some point. So yeah… I’d seen all three of those pictures before and knew this would happen. But it was still really nice to see it all come together and see how we got there!)

- The fight against Cordovin and her giant mecha was also pretty cool! It reminded me a bit of the Legend of Korra finale. Ruby going inside the arm canon was an especially epic moment. And I also liked that small moment when they were flying on the Queen Lancer and Ruby had her arms around Weiss’ waist (a bit of White Rose, yay!).

- I like that moment when the Grimm attack and the team first realizes they just destroyed the only thing capable of stopping them – but to be honest, that was mostly Cordovin’s fault. She brought out that mecha for something it wasn’t meant for and started the fight that attracted the Grimm in the first place. Also, how exactly did she think the people of Atlas would take it if she had actually hurt Weiss? So yeah, most of that mess was on her, tbh. I’m glad she at least came though to help in the end, though.

- Back to Bumbleby: Honestly, the strongest romantic undertones weren’t even in the fight with Adam or directly afterwards for me, but in the last episode when they’re all on the ship together. So, Blake is blaming herself for the plan going wrong, and Yang has an arm around, her, still half holding her and reassuring her. And then – and this one really gets me – Ruby hugs Blake and gives Yang that knowing look over her shoulder while Yang suddenly looks away shyly. They’re communicating without words and Ruby totally knows what’s up. She’s basically saying “So you and Blake, huh?” and suddenly Yang – YANG – is feeling shy. This isn’t subtle. And then later Bumbleby hold hands again and look at each other like that… they’re in love, I don’t make the rules.

- And finally, we of course have Ruby’s epic silver-eyed moment in the finale, which was AMAZING. I loved all the flashbacks and how they’re drawn pictures and not just stills from the episodes, I love how the memories of her friends motivate her, I love how much of Penny there was in there (bit of Nuts and Dolts, yay!), I loved seeing adorable little!Yang, and of course the first look at Summer Rose! (I still want a Team STRQ backstory episode at some point.) Also, the music during that scene was so good!

Gosh, now I’ve talked for way too long again, but there was just so much to say about this volume! Long story short: Loved it, can’t wait to continue! (I know exactly 1 major spoiler for volume 7 because it was unavoidable on social media, but that’s it. And it’s a spoiler I really didn’t mind knowing, so…)
