Ginny is tired of being the only single Weasley at family gatherings and all the pity that comes with that status. Draco could do without opportunistic women taking advantage of his desire to connect. The solution? Team up to become platonic dates during the holidays.

CHAPTER ELEVEN: GINNY'S BIRTHDAY 2006

When Ginny finally came downstairs, her eyes were bright and red-rimmed with happy tears. Her teammates and friends swarmed her again, congratulating her on becoming an auntie once more. She thanked everyone profusely, but her attention was clearly divided. Her eyes kept drifting toward Draco as if to make sure he stayed put until she could reach him. And when she was finally free from the well-wishers and standing in front of him once more, it took all of Draco’s control not to pull her toward him and kiss her. That look on her face, the relief and elation—he never wanted to see it leave. He realized then that there was little Draco wouldn’t do to spare her from misery, like the kind she’d experienced over the summer when she’d been bashed in the press. The realization frightened him enough to flee, but he couldn’t. She was here. As much as he wished to escape his feelings, he also couldn’t deny himself the opportunity to be near her.

PSA to The Maruaders fandom

Not liking a headcanon, popular or not, does not make a person a bigot. Surprising, I know! But it really doesn't.

There's been TONS of discourse lately over transfem sirius and I would like to give my opinion on it. If you like the headcanon, that's fine, good for you!! If you do not like the headcanon, that is also fine. Not liking the headcanon does NOT make someone transphobic and if you think it does you need to rethink your views on life because what the actual fuck. Apparently people also claim that not liking transfem sirius is misogynistic and if you genuinely think that BOY do you need a wake up call. If one person can genuinely argue how either of those points makes even vague sense, I will consider changing my mind, however, as I actually have a fucking clue of what bigotry really is, I dont see that happening in the near future.

In the same way, this applies to almost every headcanon, including not hc james as queer or even as desi (no, that does not make you racist, please fucking get over yourselves) or hc-ing remus as disabled.

I would like to point out, however, that if you do enjoy any of these headcanons, its absolutely fine!! I even enjoy quite a few of them myself including pan, desi james and genderfluid sirius!! You should also post about them on your own platforms as much as you like and engage in media with the same headcanons!! You should NOT, however, argue and hate on people who post about not liking them, because just as it is your prerogative to like something, its their prerogative to like something else and neither of those times is it hurting anyone. It is also your prerogative to post about stuff you don't like!! Just do it on your OWN platform and not one someone elses.

At the end of the day, they're all fictional, let's have a little decorum, okay?

“james? are you there?”

regulus stares at the ground, picking the edges of his nails until they begin to bleed. “james?” he repeats, more urgently this time. he sniffs, adjusting his clothes so that they hang as loosely over his body as possible, letting his hair hang clumsily in front of his tear-stained cheekbones.

james pokes his head around the corner, his fingers drumming against the wall. “yes?” the cheer in his voice and face falters the moment he sees regulus. he lurches forward to hold the boy's hand in his own. “don't do that, love. what's wrong?”

“is there something wrong with me?” he chokes out in between laboured breaths. “are you going to leave me? please. please don’t leave me, jamie. please.” he begins to hyperventilate, grasping at the roots of his hair. “i don’t want you to go. not like everyone else. please.”

“i’m not, i'm not,” james promises, pulling his boyfriend as close as he can. he pushes regulus' curls off his forehead, causing him to flinch slightly, before pressing a kiss to it. “i’m not going anywhere, at all. i promise. i swear to you.” he wraps his arms around regulus’ shoulders, looking deeply into his steely eyes before pulling the boy’s head to his shoulder.

“i’m right here.”

Hello! I was hoping you could help me figure out what D/G fic I'm thinking of. I first read it 10-15 years ago. Sadly, I can't remember many details. It was post Hogwarts and re-examined/re-imagined the rules of magic (IE, I believe there were certain magics that purebloods were able to do better than muggleborns). Both D & G were challenged in their way of thinking. And I think part of it took place on a dragon preserve? Or someone where an adventure vibe. TIA for any help you can provide!!

The first stories I thought of were The Dragon's Keep and Sentenced to Sanctuary from the 2009 D/G Fic Exchange on LiveJournal.

If not those, could it be another LJ exchange fic? I poured through the master lists to see if anything sounded right. Dreaming About The Things That We Could Be from the 2013/2014 fic exchange also mentions a dragon preserve.

What would you say are your more controversial opinions about the hp characters?

ohhhh okayyy. i feel like my opinions on a lot of the characters aren’t controversial because i dont feel super strongly towards anyone in any negative light but here are some i could think of at the top of my head:

i’m glad the malfoys faced more extreme backlash after the second wizarding war. a lot of people in the fandom seem to be very sympathetic towards draco and scorpius for getting dogpiled with the brunt of it (which yeah, it sucks, especially for scorpius) but the prejudice makes complete make sense to me. if i was someone who didn’t know scorpius’ character, and had someone from my family get killed in the second war due to death eaters or something— seeing the malfoys still be wealthy and walk around freely without any jailtime, i would be bitter too. they’re hated on but they’re still one of the richest families ever, so they’ll live LOL

another anon has asked about this and i haven’t responded to them yet but when i do i will link it here for my reasons. basically: the best character in the cursed child is harry potter. i think the way they wrote his character and ptsd carried the play. it was def his story, not albus’.

i do think dumbledore has some aspects of him that may be considered morally gray, but mostly i dont think he is. he does everything for the good of the world, and his complete selflessness leads him to sacrifice anything for it— even himself and the people he loves, when necessary. i completely understand why people wouldn’t agree with his methods though.

james potter isn’t a sunshine character he’s a dickhead. fans of him made him a golden retriever character to be more palatable for modern times. i like him the way he is: an asshole and then less of an asshole 👍 this is what true stanning looks like

pansy parkinson is racist and out of all the female side characters, developing HER is so questionable from fandom

harry had questionable descriptions about a lot of male characters to make people think he could be a little 🏳️‍🌈 there was bill, there was sirius, there was cedric. but draco is not a part of that list. harry was not feeling draco whatsoever throughout the series but drarry shippers cling to that one ‘obsessed’ line

furthermore, harry rejecting draco’s offer of friendship wasn’t a sad or a ‘what if’ scene. draco was being a classist piece of shit and harry didnt want to fuck with that, there isnt any way in any timeline he wouldve accepted draco’s friendship.

slytherin sucks just generally lol. people want so bad to pluck anti-heroes out of a series that was written specifically with the mind to make all the characters suck.

hermione and ron’s drama isn’t as toxic as people make it out to be. yes, this includes the time hermione sent birds after him. people act like its the end of the world but she was tackling puberty and the end of society soooo i give her a pass to tweak out.

mostly every harry potter character has horrific names. like literally mostly everyone. even the name harry potter 🙁

movie romione wasn’t that bad LOL

severus snape’s ‘redemption’ or whatever was so ass. he bullies kids for five years and then everything is chill because… true love? on harry’s mum? are you kidding me 💀

weasley family angst goes hard but people (especially percy stans and some ron&ginny stans) acting like they’re the most toxic family to walk the earth make me want to rip my hair out and eat it. molly loves her kids guys shes not evil. jesus.

genuinely trying to think of more but i can’t right now…. maybe i will reblog and add to it. i feel like most of my opinions aren’t that controversial though 😭
