more more nimona thoughts
okay so!
peep the background! theres (more notably) a trans flag, but you can also see the colors of the genderqueer flag between the two buildings. (note that this scene is focused on nimona and trans allegory and trans allegory and-)
i always questioned the use of this shape but! its the eye highlight for nimona and gloreth (before the betrayal) and bah bah bah im stupid and pretty art distracts me from looking from pretty art
the use of nimonas shapeshifting just fucking s. she goes from big, scary, brutish to looking so comparatively fucking small i just i cant god fuck god shit i miss my silly ha ha daughter son
no fucking gif of it but the fact that ''ballisters sword'' shatters here from Not Very High but when he drops the actual sword off of Very Probably Fucking Height it just clatters and oough pufferfish noise also i only realized now that ambrosius dropped his sword (im too busy crying for silly big brown eyed silly cringefail dad shhhh)
the fact this establishes 'nimona will do pink stuff as a sign of her existence' for the silly ha has, that yeah shes just being a goober and acting and then she doesnt have a speck of pink on her for ambrosius showing how mf dedicated (other than the death but cmon shes nimona) she was to the fucking bit like damn and she was improving most of it too since i doubt they realized the director was going to be that..violent?? uncaring?? anyways i just i need ballister freaking out over the fact that 'she was willing to kill him'
i love how all the knights have silver armor while ambrosius has nearly all gold and ballister has neither also id like to note that he took his sword from the cart by hand even though we saw the squire getting onto another knight for doing so also how ballister, little fucking geek he is, IMMEDIATELY noticed 'hey, what the fuck is up with this' when taking his own sword also how the squire called him 'mr ballister'
my baby. god. she (especially in this scene) in the whole flash back scene acts A Bit Too Much like me when i was really interacting with people for the first time (i talked to one singular person and was too timid to talk to anyone else amd god how wasnt i diagnosed sooner)'
hes such a fucking dad holy shit ambrosius hadnt even done the 'what is she' and hes still being so fucking worried over her AND ambrosius hes such fucking s god also i love how the eye thing is reoeated throughout the movie for nimona
cough cough i adore. its placing of 'item here item there' but it just it fucking i s okay? fuck. i love how it places 'true villian' a normal amount okay? singing killed my grandma okay?
crying and sobbing and shitting over the referece to the comic and they fact that even in the movie alone they still look related i just i fucking????????? Mine.
im so fucking normal (i am not allowed to speak when we watch things but my ass picks up on so many little things or consistencies that i just Need To.)

I’ve been so inspired by @bananadramaaa lately!
Their human Alastor and Mimsy comics drive me insane!
I’m realising how cool their relationship is: it’s giving sibling energy!👌👌👌
just two pals looking out for each other while they murder!

So Gregor Mendel (yes, the guy with the pea plants) wrote down that he wanted to be given a thorough autopsy after he died.
The year he died was 1884. Autopsies were increasingly common at the time, but Mendel was an Augustinian friar and the arguments preventing donating your body to science for teaching autopsies, research, etc. were theological. The “ethical” source of teaching cadavers for doctors to autopsy was (in many places) the bodies of executed criminals, as a sort of post-mortem punishment.
Mendel became a monk specifically because he couldn’t afford to study otherwise, even after one of his sisters donated her dowry to the cause. He did too well as a monk to continue his work as long as he wanted: he got promoted to Abbott and the last sixteen years of his life were spent doing administrative work, and his experiments weren’t properly replicated, or examined as a viable alternative to then current theories on inheritance, until 1900. But he chose to donate his body to science (which he loved) and be of material benefit to the field of medicine, which he didn’t practice but two of his nephews did.
There’s just something beautiful about a guy who lived through the era where having your body dissected was the height of dishonor, in an institution that had advocated against the practice, deciding that anything that helps humanity as a whole was worth doing.
There’s something just as beautiful about the fact that he was exhumed for genetic sequencing on his 200th birthday - usually we don’t just dig people up and grab their genes as a surprise party, because in addition to it being a lot of work we can’t assume they would have appreciated it, but Mendel? He would have been jazzed.

I'm so tired of cis people asking stuff like, "Why would Texas want a list of trans people who legally changed their names?" or "Why would Florida want a list of college students who have seeking gender affirming care? We can't figure it out."
It's eliminationist.
Ken Paxton wants a list of trans people who have changed their name in Texas so he can reverse all of those decisions (and that's the most charitable interpretation). Ron DeSantis wants a list of college students who have sought affirming care so he can force them to detransition.
Oklahoma introduced a bill to forcibly detransition people under the age of 21 (ironically doing what they accuse us of doing, forcing someone to live as the wrong gender). Texas has a new bill that will ban gender affirming care for every Texan of any age and makes it a felony for doctors to provide it. Multiple states either have passed or will pass bills that will ban legal name changes. Some states have slipped in language to anti-drag bills (which are horrific enough on their own) that ban anyone from displaying, presenting, or dressing outside their "biological" gender (one state has language about "DNA gender") in public.
It's about legally and morally mandating trans people out of existence.
Plain and simple. It's about making sure that trans people can not exist. Period. It's not about restrictions, or "think of the children!" It's about eliminating us from public life and then eliminating us from private life so that we have a choice of either die or conform.
When will y'all realize this isn't some wedge issue or a political football that they'll just give up on if they lose an election or two. These are ideologues who are singularly focused. They don't care about the marketplace of ideas. They don't give a shit if they get mocked on lefty Twitter and the late night shows. They only care about one thing: gaining and then wielding power to achieve their goal of eliminating trans people (and then gay people, and then women who don't conform to their gender standards, ect).
If you give them that power they will use it.
