I know you talk abou st*cky in the interracial ships stuff, but can we talk about st*ny? Iron husbands is literally right there, but I also always sees Rhodey as Tonys moral support only. And ik Tony is very shippable with most characters, but the fact his ship is Rhodey is one of the lowest ships in ao3 (ironstrange, winteriron and god forbid stark*r all had more fics in ao3).. It's pretty telling this side also has racism problems...

I'll go ahead and answer this here, but letting y'all know that I do have a marvel sideblog if you want to hit me up there (@themarvelarchives).

Hey, I'm going to ramble for a good minute.

So after I posted my very incoherent, controversial take on St*cky vs SamBucky, there were a ton of ppl who came onto anon saying that St*cky shippers were racist. I think I only answered a few, but y'all were pretty insistent on it. I personally have not observed that St*cky shippers are so I'm not calling anyone out on that side of the fandom for that.

I also did not call out anyone on this side of the fandom bc that's not what my meta was about. I think I mentioned maybe once or twice in the whole post that there was underlying racist in the fandom, but since you asked, we can talk about it here.

Covert Bigotry In Fandom Spaces.

To understand what's going on in the MCU, we have to first look at what I call "woke-queer" fandom.

So "Woke-Queer" Spaces is the phenomenon where certain fandom members like to call ppl out on their bigotry, while covertly harboring their own queerphobia/racism/etc. An example of this that we're all familiar with is TERFS and how they like to claim that they are progressive and woke, while also claiming that trans women are fake and trans men are sexist.

How this translates to fandom, however, is the hypocrisy that is cancellation and callout culture.

For example, Supernatural in particular is a fandom that likes to call out the writers on their homophobia and racism, and yet, somehow, the fandom is chalk full of homophobia and racism. If you want to read more about this, here is a truly excellent article from the perspective of a queer woman of color.

Moving on, I've also talked in a previous meta post, on the internalized acephobia that exploded in 2019 after Good Omens was released. Rather than reiterate everything I said in that post, I'll just leave it at this: the controversy in the Good Omens fandom can be summed up by the fact that queer audiences are claiming that Ineffable Husbands is the wrong kind of queer. The hypocrisy oozes off the screen, doesn't it?

A final way this viably translates to fandom, is in how the Doctor Who fandom evolved over time.

So Steven Moffat takes over as head writer and showrunner in 2010. It's a new series, a new Doctor, a new Tardis, and new branding. He steps up the action, changes the color grating, and raises the stakes. Women are sexier, the Doctor is smarter (and more of an asshole, but that's another meta post), and every companion comes with their own impossible mystery that makes them Special™.

Series 5-10 got tons of woke points for having lesbian characters, an episode where the Doctor is homoerotic with James Corden, and an underlying trans narrative with the Master's reincarnation. What a lot of people forget, however, is that his series was incredibly sexiest, incredibly lesbian/biphobic, and basically turned the Doctor into everyone's fantasy sex-object.

This, unfortunately, brought out the worst of the fandom. There was RTD Era vs Moffat Era wars exploding in certain corners, TenxRose shippers vs ElevenxRiver shippers.

What does this have to do with covert racism in fandom cultures though?

Hnnngng ok, so back in RTD era's we get Martha Jones, the Actual Best Companion On The Entire Show. Except for the fact, of course, that she is written to be in love with the doctor. She's a brilliant character--smart, sassy, flawed, funny, flirtatious--and her entire plotline is reduced down to a school-girl crush on a white man.

She doesn't do well with fans, they scrap her after one season.

We move on to Donna Noble (The Other Actual Best Companion On The Entire Show) and RTD's era ends with them scraping her too and regenerating David Tennant's Doctor.

It will be five more series (not seasons, SERIES) until Doctor Who will have another black companion--who gets extra points for being gay--only to fall victim to "bury your gays" at the end of the season (but not really bc no one stays dead on Doctor Who).

The fandom's reception of Martha Jones was historically bad. The comparisons to her predecessor, Rose Tyler, were rampant and everyone was finding a reason to hate her.

The fandom's reception to Bill Potts was also historically bad, as everyone was screaming that she was being written for more "woke points" and that they wanted Clara back.

Fandom has a historically bad reputation of being problematic and, I would argue, the majority of it has to do with these toxic undertones of bigotry that slip under the radar. "Woke-queer" spaces, as I call them, are these instances above where spaces that claim to be inclusive of gender/orientation/race are covertly bigoted.

Marvel and Cancelling

Now is an excellent time to talk about the MCU.

Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson) has recently come under a lot of criticism from fandom members for shutting down shipper speculation.

"The idea of two guys being friends and loving each other in 2021 is a problem because of the exploitation of homosexuality. [...] something as pure and beautiful as homosexuality has been exploited by people who are trying to rationalize themselves."

I can't find the rest of the quote, but Mackie goes on further to say that it was important to him to portray "a sensitive, masculine figure" without insinuating that there was romance involved.

Woke culture lost it's shit. Everyone was suddenly claiming that Mackie was calling them exploitative for shipping a gay ship as a queer audience, which could not have been further from the case.

Mackie actually makes some very excellent points in that sensitivity is not gay/queer. Woke culture loves to rag on Toxic Masculinity, but the minute someone plays a character who is loving and sensitive with no queer narrative in mind, they are immediately canceled.

What Am I On About

Okay, let's actually address what your ask was about, Nonnie. You pointed out--rather truthfully--that it is unfair to call-out racism on one side of the fandom, while ignoring it on the other side.

Well, I've gone back through my St*cky vs. SamBucky analysis (which is incoherent at best, I apologize for that) and I see maybe once instance where I called out fandom members for being racist. Here's what I had to say about racism:

"[...] Iron Husbands is a rarepair, probably because it’s an interracial ship."

"[there is] nothing wrong with shipping two white men, but it does become a problem when you ignore/bash POC/interracial ships to the determinant of your own white ship."

And then there was the post you brought up where I addressed interracial ships in the fandom. That one is probably more relevant to this topic, to be honest, as I actually addressed fandom racism there. I assume that your reason for bringing up Stony is because it's a ship that is more relevant to my side of the fandom, HOWEVER, the reason I highlighted Stucky instead was because I was comparing the fact that they've both been around the same amount of time and are relationships that feature the protagonist and their best friend.

You brought up St*ny in the ask, however, so I'm going to talk about St*ny for a minute.

As someone who never has nor will ship St*ny, it never even occurred to me that some of the problem behind the Iron Husbands tag being so small is because everyone ships the white, boring ship. You brought up a very valid point, but because I was never in that part of the fandom, I can't really speak to any possible underlying racism there, besides what I've already said above.

I would be interested in hearing a St*ony shipper or ex-St*ony shippers thought on this, but sadly I don't know any. If you have any more thoughts regarding this, Nonnie, pls drop back into my inbox.

You do make some excellent points in this ask though, and I would like to talk about racism on my side of the fandom.

So back to Mackie and his Twitter cancellation. Notice that Disney made him address the rumors and not his co-star, Sebastian Stan. Anthony Mackie is put on blast and made to answer fan demands and receives backlash, while Sebastian Stan gets to fly under the rader. This is not, by the way, a criticism of Stan, but instead of the blatant racism Disney has been displaying over the past few years.

How this ties in with the rest of my post has to do with my "woke-queer" spaces bit. The outcry across the MCU fandom over Mackie was swift and unforgiving. He was cancelled on charges of homophobia and bigotry--all the while these same fans turn a blind eye to any queer interpretation of other interracial ships and discourse in their own fandom.

The racism that I'm speaking about, of course, is an almost passive racism. Of course if you don't ship a specific ship for reasons other than their race, it's perfectly fine. It's okay not to ship Iron Husbands or SamBucky or any other interracial fandom ships. However, the distinct lack of shippers in the fandom IS telling because there are people who would ship that exact ship if not for the fact that one of men is black.

I don't have much more to say about this except to thank you for bringing it up and for listening to my long rambling post.

as an ironstrange shipper I loved your sylki art. Those who didn't like ironstrange always gave me the same excuse "They are like the same person", as if their similarities wouldn't create a relationship with understanding, trust, caring and equal playfulness. Now they hate on sylki because "They're the same person" but for me it's one of the best ships of MCU so far because they started as partners trying to survive and built their trust and love from that point, opening up little by little, and not the rush "out of nowhere/with few swallow moments" romance they're used to do.

I mean, ngl, I drew the Sylki art mostly to spite antis. I also think they're kinda cute together, so there's that, lol. (It was fun, tho!)

But thank you so much for your kind words! They made my evening just a bit brighter! You're precious and I hope you find the fic/art of your OTP that pushes all the right buttons! Also, if you get the chance to pet a cat or dog or any other soft pet (and you can safely do so), do it. You deserve the softness. <3

If you’re still looking for long fics and new versions of canon, I recommend @nanosorcerer‘s I Knew You For A Day and @wspaceblog‘s Indefinable Things (be quick in downloading this one it’s worth it). Both involve the Iron Fam with both Peter AND Harley which is an immediate win for me.

I Knew You For A Day - by nanosorcerer (387,776)

Summary: Endgame AU where Stephen is able to save Tony after he Snaps. Neither realize how their now shared life force will entwine them in more ways than one. Through Tony's recovery, he realizes the difference between who has always been there and who will always love him.

opinion: I really love this world! Stephen and Tony’s relationship is so fucking precious! It’s tender, it’s emotional, it’s - quite literally - dependent, it’s everything you could hope for. It’s fluffy and angsty and just such an intense read. I’m currently behind because each chapter is 20k at least which only shows how much the author loves it and cares for the characters and story. Really important takes on recovery both mentally and physically; it allows Tony to have a dad bod and body issues and it’s seriously brilliant.

Indefinable Things - by w_space (283,996)

Summary: The war is over. The rogues are back. Steve is definitely not over it. There are lots of secrets about to implode. Tony just really wants his recovered relationship with Stephen to work. And Peter just wants everyone to leave his dads alone.

(With a lot of flashback into the past of how Stephen and Tony met, got together, fell apart, only to have all roads lead back to each other again.)

opinion: i really enjoy reading this one; it’s one of my ultimate favorites (obviously)! It’s such a ride each chapter and makes you feel things x 3000. Everything that happens is genius and amazing and it has a wonderful take on Tony and Stephen’s relationship and everything that happened in between their past and present. Their relationship to the rogues is complicated yet intimate and it just keeps you guessing in all the best ways. Especially if you also like Natasha and Loki, I think this fic is a great read for you! I still can’t get over how intricate this is.

Now to actually get to some specific fluffy and angsty reads - I’m not sure what length you’re actually looking for and I know that lengthy fics can be daunting. But most of my bookmarked fics do have at least 20K words. For shorter ones i’d recommend just looking through the mentioned authors’s other works and bookmarks - because you’ll probably find plenty of gems there. Here’s some of my favorites:

Obstacles and Opportunities - by shortsnout (54,361) Mature

Summary: Stephen Strange has been trying to juggle the responsibilities of a being a single father, his work and some resemblance of a social life. When his son, Peter is injured at the Stark Expo it brings about a chance encounter with a charismatic douchebag, which leads to an unexpected friendship and some unexpected revelations about Stephen’s sexuality.

Single parent AU, no powers.

Opinion: this one has a special place in my heart as it’s one of the earliest ironstrange fics i’ve read. It’s also a family fic which I love. I think it’s very well at recognising Stephen’s more difficult qualities and where they would clash with parenting, which gives it a very authentic feel. Tony is wonderful as always - very cute and a hot romance.

Other works by the author to check out: Counterfeit Boyfriend (15k) and for an even smuttier one Bast’s Enchantment (12K)

Time After Time - by fancylances (47,755) Teen

Summary: Tony Stark is unstuck in time. Stephen Strange might just be the only person in the universe qualified enough to help.

opinion: Fix it! A great AU without being too AU! It sticks to the MCU and their respective powers while also giving a great alternative to the events of IW and endgame. I really enjoyed this one - if you’re looking for fluff and angst this is it :)

This Doesn't Mean That I Like You - by betheflame (13,756) Explicit

Summary: Stephen Strange and Tony Stark have hated each other since high school. Now that Stephen is the headmaster at their old preparatory academy and Tony's been hired as the temporary science teacher, no one expects that to change. If only they could stop having sex, things might not be so complicated.

Opinion: !!! i love anything with an academic setting and this one is just 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 i loveee it a lot

You can’t force a love to grow - by turtle_abyss (29,013) Teen

Summary: The people of Midgard say the drought is a final curse wrought by the Red Skull as he and his men were driven from the land into the churning winter sea. King Fury of Midgard believes in no such curses, but his people are starving and riotous and he is desperate. He puts out a call for aid to the other kingdoms. The desert only howls its answer, the messenger to Asgard is turned away at the border, but the messenger to the mountain kingdom of Kamar-Taj returns - shaken and babbling of ghosts and demons - carrying a scroll. Kamar-Taj will open a route of trade, but in exchange, they want a bride for their prince. King Fury, childless, puts out a call to his noble houses. Lord Howard Stark of the Southern Mines senses an opportunity for advancement and offers up his son, Anthony, who fits the specifications listed in the terms. Anthony would argue. Wants to fight and scream and flee. He’d dreamed of a love marriage like his mother always spoke of. The King paints a kind picture of duty and dignity: this marriage will save his people from starvation. His father threatens to throw him to the desert's mercy. There's no point in arguing. His heart probably won't last long anyway.

Opinion: really sweet!!! i enjoy a good Medieval/royalty AU and it didn’t disappoint! Plus it has ART!!! it’s great 10/10 all around. @turtleoftheabyss Is a great author in general and has so many great fics to check out.

Summary: Sometimes a family is comprised of you, your recently divorced dad, an unruly group of teenagers and a semi-unemployed former world-class neurosurgeon… Peter Stark hoped that moving back to the city would help his father get passed all the struggles and animosity that plagued him after his divorce. What he hadn't thought to hope for was a way for his father to move on; he’d always had a hard time letting people go, after all. Stephen Strange was everything Steve Rogers was not. Maybe he could be everything Tony Stark needed to heal his broken heart. Throw in an unruly group of teenagers and you have yourself a family.

Opinion: This is perfect for Fluff and Angst!! It’s a really sweet No Powers AU and checks all boxes it’s great!

My Starlight - by Insert_witty_username (our very own @stark-strange-love2) (18,452) Explicit

summary: Leviathans, the all powerful beings that reside in the void beyond the world they created, are destined to do nothing but observe as the Earth turns day after day. Stephen was content to do the same as the other Leviathans, that is, until he lays eyes on Tony Stark, a human prince threatened with an arranged marriage from his father. Stephen helps him, but now they have a new problem. Stephen, a being of unfathomable power is married to a human prince. Where do they go from there? Alternately, a myth as to the creation of the stars

Opinion: this is so good oml!! I already mentioned i love a good royalty!AU and this is truly an epic piece of writing; great concept to begin with and an actual happy ending!

Then an incident in Japan forces Stephen and Tony Stark together under even more unfortunate circumstance and when he discovers that the businessman is nothing like he expected he no longer knows how to feel

Opinion: it’s been a while since i’ve read this but i’ve been intending to reread because I keep thinking about it lately! it’s so good! If you want something cute and fluffy with a little bit of a comic book vibe - this is really funny and sweet.

The Douchebag, The Asshole, and Their Kids: A Love Story - by Teamironmanforever (74,954) Teen

Summary: Stephen Strange - sorcerer supreme, former neurosurgeon and resident asshole - is tasked by his fellow sorcerers with speaking with Tony Stark - genius, billionaire, philanthropist, part time hero and full time douchebag - after the “civil war.” The two get off to a rocky start as miscommunication, mistrust, and past pains threaten to do them in. However, both men are nothing if not adaptable and, with the threat Tony can’t get out of his head, the two will have to work in close quarters to stop earth from coming to harm. All while leading a brand new avengers team and co-parenting three meddlesome teenage kids that seem to have it in their head that the wizard and the genius want in on each other’s pants.

Opinion + warning this hasn’t been finished and seems to currently be abandoned as it hasn’t updated since February but i still definitely think it’s worth the read. It’s one of my ultimate favorites and I love it a lot.

I haven’t even talked about Imagined yet because I Don’t Know Where To Start.

(Sober) Companion - by ME (20K) Mature

Summary: Stephen Strange, ex-neurosurgeon, current sober companion, prides himself on his competence. If he's so competent, however, why is he having so much trouble getting through to his new charge, Tony Stark? Usually it's Stephen putting the pieces back together, but when Tony is giving him none to work with, and instead starts meddling with Stephen's, he might have to reconsider who's fixing who. And can the answer be both or neither at the same time?

I know my recs haven’t changed much since previous times but that isn’t going to stop me from talking about them. I just probably brave going through my history at some point to find the ones i forgot to bookmark ...

But my advice is always to just go to the ship tag and play around with the filters; specific AU/tropes you’re looking for, sort through wordcount/kudos/comments/bookmarks, otp: true or with extra characters, etc or be a badass and just start from the first fic ever written to the one that was updated last.

Avengers AU idea...

The Necromantica: Lead by the Ancient One. She is the founder of the group and has been around to oversee it for centuries. No one knows what her power is, or how she's lived so long.

After a person has had a severe injury leading to their almost death, they sometimes develop unexplained powers relating to necromancy in one way or another. The Necromantica is an underground group dedicated to helping people who have discovered these new powers. They provide therapy for the trauma people have endured, train people in how to use and control their power, and are partnered with the sorcerers at Kamar Taj. The sorcerers teach the necromancers basic magic as self-defence and to give both the subjects and the sorcerers a better understanding of this phenomenon.

Although the Necromantica is a secret group, they often use their powers to protect the people of New York and are low-level enhanced individuals outside the watch of the government. They're based in an abandoned train station hidden by illusions cast by the sorcerers of Kamar Taj.

Characters:

Tony: A poor unsuspecting fool and Stephens roommate after the car crash. He's a graphic designer for a magazine company and frequently asks Stephen to pose as a drawing reference. He could just use Pinterest or even books like a normal person, but at the moment it's his only excuse to stare dreamily at Stephen without being weird.

Stephen: The victim of a car crash about a year ago. He was run off the road by drunk drivers and was near death when he was found. He was rushed to hospital and operated on by Dr. James Rhodes. He made an almost full recovery however his hands were crushed in the dashboard of the car, which resulted in severe nerve damage. They still shake and hurt, meaning Stephen is often on prescription painkillers.

He was found by the Necromantica a few days after he returned home from the hospital. Rhodey, who operated on him, is also part of the Necromantica and so was able to get his records to the group. Bucky came to visit after Stephen discovered his new necro-botanic powers and explained things. Stephen now uses the support of plants wrapped around his hands to regain full control and dexterity with them.

Dr. James Rhodes: Was in a plane crash which resulted in his near death. Before that, he was a very good surgeon however, after the plane crash he was paralysed from the waist down. After he was released from the hospital he found that a few days later, he could miraculously walk again. Rhodey's power is that he can remove injuries from things and store them up to inflict on people later. Sam came to recruit Rhodey after this. Rhodey has to be very careful about skin to skin contact with anyone because he still has the paralysis stored up: he never found a good reason to use it.

Sam Wilson: A therapist at the local clinic. He used to get the medical records to find out whom to help/recruit to the Necromantica. Now Rhodey helps get the records too. Sam is a veteran and fought in Vietnam. Although he came home with no physical injuries he had extremely bad PTSD and attempted suicide. The gun, however, misfired and his family got him to hospital in time. When he woke up he discovered he had the power to sap the lifespan from others and add it to his own.

James Barnes: One of the Necromantica's 'recruitment officers'. He is the longest-standing member after Sam and was the one who brought in Stephen. He used to be a weapons dealer in Texas however, one of the deal went south and the arms warehouse got blown up with him still in it. His arm had to be amputated, and he now has a cybernetic one designed by Thor. From the explosion Bucky gained to reanimate a person's body for a limited amount of time, no matter how much of them is damaged or missing.

Thor Thomas: the founder of a prestigious technology company and an accomplished engineer. He and his brother Loki are child abuse survivors. They were almost beaten to death by their father, who was in a drunken rage, at a young age. Thor developed the ability to magnify and manipulate the minuscule electric current flowing through organisms, although this often results in their death (it's a delicate process.) This was found out when he was returned to his parents from the hospital. His father made to slap Loki however Thor caught his hand. Sparks erupted and his mother had to pull both children away as Odin stumbled back and hit the floor. Fire burst from under him and the house burnt to the ground before the fire department could arrive.

Loki Thomas: Thor's brother. Can reveal the most likely past and future of a person and sometimes an animal. The prophecy usually centres around their death or that of someone close to them.

Steve Rogers: The Necromantica's other 'recruiting agent'. He was a foot soldier in WW2 when he fell off a train during a raid. He ended up frozen and preserved in the ice until he was found decades later. He's the only know person to wake up and recover from a cryogenic-like process. This is probably due to the power he developed over his time in the ice. Steve can freeze people down to their very core, leaving them soulless zombies. However, he can also reverse this process in not only his own victims but those of mental illness - bring them back in touch with reality and re-animate their will to live. This is why he is one of the group's main therapists who deal with PTSD.

Natasha Romanov: Another member of the Necromantica. She's an ex-KGB spy and was tortured to near death by her employers after she quit. Before this, she suspected something was going to happen to her, so she left clues to her location, which her father unravelled and followed. He got her medical help just in time and she survived after intensive surgery and being comatose for around a week. After that she aware that she could see numbers above people's heads. One was a timer ticking down to their time of death, the other a counter of how many people they'd killed. What she discovered, however, was that the timer could be edited. Someone who had meer seconds before being hit by a car could be saved by her intervening, or even just thinking about increasing the timer. It didn't always work on people with grievous injuries, however, it worked about 90% of the time.

Wanda and Pietro Maximoff: Siblings who were Iraqi exchange students in Washington D.C. After white supremacists bombed a mosque, the building collapsed, nearly suffocating them as they were stuck inside. Both were unconscious when found, but they eventually woke up. Pietro, with the ability to speed up people's lives to their time of death (he can also reverse it); Wanda with the power to operate dead things like puppets.

Li Wei: Was in a train crash in China. Was barely alive when found and needed multiple transplants: he was transferred to a hospital in New York for this. Thor's company is the one who originally developed the surgical technology that saved Li's life. After waking from his coma, Li discovered his ability to move through other people's bodies. It's not a fun experience, but he can also reach in and edit things. He was only a nurse before the crash, however after settling in New York and joining the Necromantica he completed his degree to become a doctor. He's nicknamed Vision by the group and his close friends for his ability to see into another person's body. His power is extremely useful when performing delicate operations and a group of nurses and doctors who work with him know how he does it in case anything goes wrong, and to protect the secret.

Carol Danvers: Flew rescue helicopters to collect soldiers and sometimes civillians from high-risk areas around the world. Was one on the best pilots they had until her chopper was gunned down. She was flying a new and somewhat experimatal helicopter developed by engineering researchers at the time and absorbed a ton of radiation from the engine. She had minor injuries - only a broken arm and severe bruising - but had intense radiation poisoning. Eventually she recovered: mainly due to her power. She can drain the field of life force that radiates from everything living and can store it up to expel in photon blasts.

Introduction post!! ^^

Hi there!! I'm Tani, and I just joined Tumblr. Not really sure why I did though. So, I made an account 2 days ago, and so far I think I have a theme going with my blog. I knew I wanted to make a fan account about my favourite ship, Johnlock, but I'm just not sure how to run a fan account, lol. I'm such a mess. But before I start anything, I thought you could get to know me.

Are you planning on writing a stuckony fic if you feel inspired? I really like the way you write emotions so i feel like your stuckony fic wouldn't have some of the pitfalls that many other fics have e.g. Tony being an afterthought or the constant Steve&Bucky are a unit and Tony is extra benefit type thing which is strange to read when its supposed to be a relationship. I feel like you'd write the characters really well and create a very good positive relationship.

Oh for sure, If I’m absolutely inspired I’ll write a stuckony fic, just keep in mind that I’m a main Stony shipper with the occasional Winteriron. To write a good positive and equal relationship I’d have to do the Stucky side justice and let’s just say the very loud Stucky shippers who went on a vendetta against Tony didn’t exactly give me a great first impression of the ship. I get anxious when I see fanart or writing of it. I’m reminded of the hate used to lift that ship up. Same with Ironstrange. They really went on the offense with Steve there.

I feel I won’t do right by it, but you bet I’ll try my absolute best.

To give you an idea of what to mostly expect in my writing of Stuckony on equal footing, I wrote this one for Juuls. Choice in Us

I tried my best to give them all a step to stand on. I hope I did well there.

Peterliz: I just love how they are their own personalities and still can like each other in the adorable way they do? Liz is exactly like Laura described her, a girl not motivated by the boy but willing to fall for him. I think it’s neat and fresh (Laura said Liz isn't your typical surface-level Mary Jane. You know, the damsel in distress (war flashbacks to Kirsten Dunst’s MJ). She’s actually super smart, she’s a valedictorian, she does the academic decathlon, she’s on every committee. She’s the most driven, Type A person in school, but she’s also kind) and Peter can identify with this as well, given that the boy can potentially be the smartest person in the room if he wants to. Peter thinks highly of her (She’s the best. She’s awesome. I just... I really want to tell her, but it’s kind of weird, you know? “Hey, I’m... I’m Spider-Man”) and cares about her achievements (Wow, you really... This is really important to you) and Liz knows him (you don’t need to study. You’re, like, the smartest guy I’ve ever met) and knows something’s going on with him but respects that (’I want to be mad, but I’m more worried’ ‘You’re terrible at keeping secrets’) And I think some people misinterpret Liz’s actions with Peter because they desperately want her to be the mean popular girl and that’s not it. Reading the novel, I think some people would get the insight behind Liz’s actions. She likes Peter a LOT but he’s always blowing people off because of his alter-ego Spider-Man. There’s a part where Liz mentions how Peter is always busy and she always gets disappointed about it. This hurts them both because Liz wishes Peter could give himself a rest and stop carrying the world on his shoulders and Peter wishes he could be normal and be with her. It’s the angst, this is what drives me lmao

Fosterson: They’re going to be forever in my heart. The most unproblematic ship ever. It’s adorable how much they push each other to be better. Thor pushes Jane to do things she’s never done before and she pushes him to consider things he’s never done before. It’s a balance. I love that about ships, when they help each other grow.

AntWasp: The most supportive loving partners ever. I LOVE THEM.

Taser Tricks: Yeah, I know. They’ve never met but I ship them lmao. I think that if they finally interact in Love & Thunder, we’ll see if they match or not. Darcy’s bubbly personality could potentially contrast with Loki’s aloof one. It’s an interesting dynamic. This ship’s been around for years, I can’t believe we’re finally going to see them interact and with Waititi’s writing. Chef kiss.

Interwebs: I’m sorry but how come almost no one ships these two? ‘As long as you’re safe’ OMG like, how? They would be the softest boyfriends ever. Peter cares so so so much about Ned. Like, after May and Tony, comes Ned for Peter. Ned is his pillar and the person who grounds Peter. His biggest supporter. THEY'RE NEAT.

PalmerStrange: He changed and she walked away exactly because of this. Because Strange needed to be his own person first, and then he can go after her. She’s successful in her own harmony, is not scared to call him on his bs, she can see right through him. He listens to her, he respects her, and sees a partner on equal grounds. They’re fresh out of the oven.

Ironstrange: Man, I’m sorry. It’s the chemistry for me lmao. They’re not my biggest OTP but I’m definitely up for them.

Carolmaria: Wives raising their adorable daughter♥ ‘Higher, further, faster, baby’ ‘you were the most powerful person I knew’

ScarletVision: I just don’t like them lol I respect the shippers but I don’t like the ship. I think Wanda needed more time to figure out her powers, her own identity. And Vision too. They both needed time and got caught up in everything else.

Staron: This one doesn’t need an explanation. In this house we love and respect Sharon Carter.

Brucenat: I’m sorry but lmao. I don’t think they have chemistry, and again, nothing against the shippers, but I kinda don’t like it when they give Natasha a different love interest in every movie. It’s like they tease a ship with a different avenger only because she’s the only woman in the group. I don’t dig it.

Parkner: Nothing against them but I see them as Tony’s kids and it’s kinda weird for me to ship them if they’re like siblings and stuff. Apart from the fact that I can only picture Harley as a little kid, I don’t know why. Maybe because I see a lot of Tony in Peter, I feel like their dynamic would be like Tony & Harley in IM3. Harley asking thousands of questions while Peter ignores them just like Ned’s questions about spiders in HOCO lmao. They could be like brothers.

Spideychelle: Nothing against their shippers but I just don’t like them. I feel like this was rushed for fanservice, and I don’t see any chemistry between them. I think they would’ve been amazing bffs tho. Also, the fact that many only ship them because of tomdaya makes me uncomfortable. Don’t ship real-life people.

Look, I can respect the ships in the comics where Peter is an adult, it’s an alternate universe, that’s a different Peter Parker; a complete opposite but MCU Peter is a minor and I’m watching yall. You people ship Peter with everything that moves.
