when sitting on the hogwarts express he always leaves a seat for you and just lean his head against your shoulder and hold your hand while you both look out the window (my heart is melting)

LATE NIGHT CUDDLE SESSIONS

sneaking into his dorm at night to surprise him and he's literally about to go to sleep like he's in bed and everything and then he just hears the door open ominously and he's horrified until he sees your mischievous grin as you're putting a finger up to your lips to tell him to quiet down as you close the door behind you

and then y'all just cuddle the whole night and almost sleep through the alarm because for one Neville is literally huddled up against you so you can't move or get out of the bed otherwise your heart would break so you just turn off the alarm and wait for him to wake up but you just end up falling back asleep

the only thing waking you up was Ron coming to check up on why Neville wasn't up yet and he walks in and just sees you too cuddling and just throws a random sock at your head and tells you to “stop snogging” 💀

BUT it's kinda clear by the way his face heats up that he's into the idea. Title: Troublesome Niffler

Narrator's POV (fourth year, and it has nothing to do with the movies or books, just for the wholesome-ness)

(Btw, reader is Slytherin!)

It is weird for a half-blood ambitious Slytherin like (Y/N) and a pure-blood cowardly Gryffindor like Neville become boyfriends.

Since the very first day attended at Hogwarts, they have become inseperable. One thought they woukd be in Hufflepuff, the other thought they would end up in Ravenclaw. Yet, here they were. Two total different houses. Most importantly, two rival houses.

The others were confused or either disgusted on how they became so inseperable.

And now, look at them. The nervous Gryffindor behind the eager Slytherin, willing to catch a troublesome baby Niffler who was up on a tree. "(NF/N)!!! Come down this instant, you pesky little pest!"

The Niffler shook it's head, holding the golden snitch who was trying to get away from it's grasp. "(NF/N), please come down! The Gryffindors need to train for Quidditch!" Neville tried to help his boyfriend, which resulted to (NF/N) throwing a golden necklace on Neville's head.

"Ow!" Neville said, picking the necklace up and rubbing his head. (Y/N) put his "Fantastic Beast and Where To Find Them" book down and began to climb up the tree.

"(Y-(Y/N)! You're going to get hurt!!" Neville said, watching his boyfriend in horror.

(Y/N) did not care, though, his only goal being to catch that Niffler and retrieve back people's belongings.

The Niffler went to the tip of the giant tree branch as (Y/N) sat down on it. "(NF/N)...don't make me do this..." (Y/N) slowly pushed himself foward towards the Niffler.

Neville couldn't watch, this was too overwhelming for him.

The golden snitch then began to flap it's wings as (Y/N) was infront of (NF/N), it beginning to fly carrying his kidnapper away.

(NF/N) blew it's raspberry at his owner. "Oh, you little..." (Y/N) mumbled, before he heard a crack. Neville immediatly snapped his head back to his boyfriend. They both stood still.

The cracking then continued. Then, the branch fell.

(Y/N)'s eyes opened slowly, only to realize that he was at the Hospital Wing's bed. He looked around him and Neville stood to his left while the Golden Trio stood to his right.

"What...what happened?" (Y/N) asked, realizing the Niffler on Harry's hands. "(NF/N) fell onto the Quidditch field, and Neville then ran to us and told us what happened..." Hermione said.

"Blimey, (Y/N), you really climbed up that tree branch?" Ron asked.

(Y/N) just stared at (NF/N). The Niffler had a brown coat with few white patches on it, some darker broen shadings on it's tail. "Did you guys get all the stuff out of him?" (Y/N) eventually asked, turning to his boyfriend.

"Huh?"

(Y/N) sighed. "Turn him upside own, shake him, and then tickle his belly. You'll see what I mean." Hermione then snatched (NF/N) away from Harry and did as told. Many coins, rubies, neclaces, rings, and even golden clocks fell out of (NF/N)'s belly, one hitting Ron's foot to which he yelped and hissed in pain at.

Hermione then tickled his belly and a small, golden hour glass smashed on the floor, breaking into pieces. They stood silent in shook before Harry got distracted

"Is that Luna's bracelet?" Harry asked, referring to Luna's bracelet on the floor which was decoracted with rubies. "(NF/N)! Stop stealing from people or I swear I'll leave you at home!" (Y/N) scolded the Niffler, to which he whimpered in response.

Neville looked at (Y/N)'s casted arm. He felt guilty for leaving him like that. He then remembered into when (Y/N) fell unconsious, as he had several scars on him.

"(Y/N)..." Neville spoke softly, using the Golden Trio's converstaion as a chance to talk to him. "I'm sorry t-that I left you behind...I should've helped you instead of staying like a coward." Neville looked down at his feet in shame. (Y/N) put his hand on top of Neville's, rubbing his thumb on his knuckles.

"Nev, you did help me. If you hadn't called for help, I'm sure I would be dead by now. Don't put yourself down just because you didn't climb up that tree with me, I couldn't imagine letting you get hurt."

Neville looked up at his boyfriend. "Although, it's my fault for being reckless...and I probably won't be riding (HG/N) for awhile, but oh well."

Neville smiled as (Y/N) winked at him before giggling.

"Alright, time to go- FOR MERLIN'S BEARD, WHAT IS THIS MESS ON THE FLOOR!?" Madam Pomfrey asked.

Neville and the Golden Trio quickly picked everything up before leaving as Madam Pomfrey scolded them.

Madam Pomfrey then left and (Y/N) felt something light land on his casted arm. He then refrained himself from slapping it before realizing it was (BT/N), his Bowtruckle.

"And I was wondering where you were." (Y/N) grinned. (BT/N) pointed at the table besides them and (Y/N) looked, only to reveal a book. He grabbed it and read the cover.

"'Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them' by Newton Scamander" (Y/N) read out loud. He smiled to himself and hugged the book to his chest, day-dreaming about his future life as a Care of Magical Creatures professor along with Neville who was the Herbology professor.

He then day-dreamed about just him and Neville.

'I'm so lucky...' (Y/N) thought to himself lovingly as a (darker/skin/tone) blush dusted his cheeks.

Most Crushed on Male Harry Potter Characters: A Study (Version 1)

I was wondering what male characters from Harry Potter (including Hogwarts Legacy and Fantastic Beasts) are the most crushed on. When I couldn’t find anything online that answered my question, I decided to take it into my own hands and research it for myself. I looked at reader-insert fanfics and thirst trap videos on 4 websites (AO3, Tumblr, Wattpad, and TikTok) since I think it’s the most effective way of seeing how many people want to be the focus of a Harry Potter boy’s affection. Here are the results as of August 6, 2023!

Note: I researched other characters (ex. Matteo Riddle, Charlie Weasley) that weren’t listed here, but some of them didn’t make the cut on any website. I’ve also never seen Fantastic Beasts or played/watched videos of Hogwarts Legacy, so it’s possible that I missed loved characters from those parts of the Harry Potter universe.

What I did: I researched how many works are under “(male character)/reader” and “(male character)/you.” The number of works under these tags differed, so the number in parentheses is the higher number of works between those 2 tags. I only counted pairings with at least 300 works.

Potential problems: I think the AO3 results are the most accurate since for the most part, all reader-insert works are under only 1 name of the character, not something like “Snape/reader” and then “Severus Snape/reader.” However, I did notice that there were sometimes works with 2 characters where 1 character had a relationship with the character, while the other character was in a loveless arranged marriage or some sort of non-con relationship that the author didn’t mean to romanticize.

TUMBLR

What I did: I researched “(male character) x reader,” “(male character) x you,” and “(male character) x y/n.” The number of followers under these tags sometimes differed, so I recorded the highest number of followers between the 3 tags. I only counted characters that had a reader-insert tag with at least 2k followers. Some characters are tied because Tumblr only shows followers in thousands, not the specific number.

Potential problems: Because Tumblr doesn’t have a set tag for reader-insert works, I had to look up characters under multiple names, like “Remus Lupin x reader” and “Lupin x reader.” I had to exclude Harry’s tags because a lot of the works under those tags were mixed with reader-inserts or other characters. WATTPAD

What I did: I researched “(male character) x reader,” (male character) x you, and (male character) x y/n. The number of results under these tags sometimes differed, so I recorded the highest number of results between the 3 tags. I only counted characters that had a reader-insert tag with at least 10k results. Some characters are tied because Wattpad doesn’t show the exact number of results.

Potential problems: I don’t think these results are very accurate. Because Tumblr doesn’t have a set tag for reader-insert works, I had to look up characters under multiple names, like Remus Lupin x reader and Lupin x reader. I had to exclude Harry again because his results pulled up results for other characters. Similarly, searches for other characters pulled up reader-insert stories written only for a different character.

TIKTOK

What I did: I looked up “(male character) thirst” on TikTok and filtered the results to show videos in order of highest number of likes to least number of likes. The first video wasn’t necessarily a thirst video of that character, so I had to manually search for the thirst video with the highest number of likes. I only recorded characters where their thirst video with the highest number of likes had at least 10k likes. Some are tied because the same video covered multiple characters.

Potential problems: There were so many problems with finding videos on TikTok that romanticized the character, so I would take the TikTok results with a grain of salt. It was really frustrating to research on TikTok LMAO. I originally just looked up videos with the name of the character, but it took forever to find a thirst video and it was sometimes difficult to tell if it was an actual thirst. For example, there were some edits of Snape that showed him as a kid and a grown-up and it wasn’t clear if the creator was romanticizing him. For this reason, I know that the rankings I listed are most likely inaccurate because there are definitely thirst videos of characters that weren’t labeled as thirst videos. Also, for the results I gave for Harry, I looked up “Harry Potter thirst” and chose the video that @miwallbank duetted and had the most likes.

COMBINING THE NUMBERS

For accuracy reasons, I left out the numbers of results from TikTok because I think that my research was inaccurate for the most part.

Snowed In (Neville Longbottom x Genderneutral!Reader)

A quick little blurb for Christmas! I wanted to write something for me and all my Neville lovers out there. It's nothing special or long. Just a quick cute fluffy story.

Summary: It's Christmas and the reader is snowed in with their boyfriend, Neville Longbottom. The couple spend the day inside cuddling and drinking hot chocolate.

Y/N looked out the window and saw the snow coming down rapidly and immediately felt the chill in their bones. They were glad that the wind and snow couldn't reach them. They were also very thankful for the heating charm that was put over this small apartment that they shared with Neville. "Flower, is everything alright? You've been staring out the window for awhile now..." A voice suddenly asked... It was obvious who it belonged to. Y/N just shrugged. "I just feel bad I took so long getting ready this morning. I know you really wanted to go see your parents." Neville let out a little chuckle and sat down next to his partner; setting to cups of cocoa on the window sill. "Flower, don't worry. I'd much rather be snowed in here then at St. Mungoes. Sometimes, it's painful to be there and see my parents just look right through me."

Y/N looked at their boyfriend with concerned eyes and gave him a hug. "Nev, don't ever keep secrets like that from me... I want to be able to be there for you." He hugs back; squeezing a little tight onto them. He's happy to have someone so caring. He pulls away after a minute and seems shocked when Y/N wipes away few tears forming his eyes. He didn't even realize that the tears had formed in his eyes until they were wiped away. "Hey, Nev. Let's talk about something else... Maybe it'll take your mind off this." Y/N suggests as they pick up the cups of cocoa and hand one to Neville.

The brunette male smiles weakly and nods. "Sure, love." The couple clink cups and then start drinking their cocoa in silence. It was more comfortable than any words could be. They made their way to their couch and curled up together under a knitted throw blanket. Y/N's head rested on Neville's shoulder but they sat up just enough so that they could still drink their hot cocoa.

A few hours later, empty cups were left forgotten on the coffee table. Neville was staring at Y/N and was completely mesmerized by this wonderful person who he'd been in love with since his fifth year. He is sitting there with you in his arms and he couldn't be more comfortable. In fact, being next to Y/N actually takes his mind completely off his original plans for the day. They look at him with a little smile crossing their face. "So umm.... Neville... What're you thinking about right now? I'll tell you what I'm thinking about if what you're thinking about is half as interesting as it." They bargain and press a kiss to his cheek. Neville looks at them and he has the most affectionate smile on his face. He speaks softly. "I'm thinking about you... I'm thinking about how beautiful you look... And I'm thinking about how amazing it is to be around you... To have this experience with you... It's incredible... That's what I'm thinking about." Neville seems to be in another world right now. Y/N brushes their nose against his and look at him like he's something rare and precious. "I was clearly overthinking something... I thought you were still upset... But nevermind that... I love you...." They cuddle in closer to him and let out a relieved sigh. Neville smiles even bigger and it seems like he has become completely overwhelmed by the love he is feeling right now. He kisses their forehead softly. "I love you too."

The reader is notoriously oblivious like cannot take a hint unless you kiss him and even then he still might not get it. In my dream Theo and Enzo were all over him with affection and then he would be like “wow you guys must love affection! I’ll gladly do that for my friends! :D” in my dream he was a Gryffindor but you can put reader wherever.

“Come along, love,” Theodore said smoothly, shooting Neville Longbottom—whom you’d been chatting with—a rather dirty look.

You had to jog to keep up with his long strides, glancing behind you apologetically at Neville. “Teddy, slow down, what’s the matter?”

“Nothing, darling. Just don’t like other boys… looking at you.”

You giggle, scrunching up your nose. “Well obviously other boys are gonna look at me, Teddy. This is a big school, and it’s common courtesy to make eye contact with whomever you’re speaking with.”

“Don’t care,” he grumbled, putting an arm around your waist as you walked, his hand low on your hip.

“You’re the only one who does,” you shake your head. “None of my other friends are as overprotective as you.”

He scoffs. “What can I say? I’m just a really caring… friend.”

“Y/N! There you a- whose sweater is that?”

You look down, smoothing your hands down the front of your red knit sweater with a large golden ‘G’ on it. “Oh! George Weasley’s. He took me to Hogsmeade today, isn’t that sweet? He wouldn’t let me pay for my own butterbeer either! And then it got a bit cold, so he loaned me his sweater. He is just such a good friend, isn’t he?”

Enzo stared at you for a long moment, as if he was trying to tell if you were joking. “Right. Friend.”

You nod obliviously, grinning cheerily.

“Well I don’t like it,” Enzo harrumphs. “Red’s not your color.”

“I’m in Gryffindor, Enzy.”

“You look better in green,” he insists, tugging off his hoodie and handing it to you with an attempt at a charismatic grin. “Now, why don’t you take off that, and wear this instead?”

You shrug, pulling on his hoodie over top of George’s sweater. “I can layer up.”

Enzo frowned, but at least his hoodie—his Quidditch team hoodie with a large BERKSHIRE written on the back—was covering up that horrendous ‘G’.

“Good morning, Teddy!”

“Morning, love.”

Draco pretends to swoon as you reach across the table to grab a piece of toast. “Oh! Teddy~”

Theodore has the most humorless expression on his face, his distinct ‘dead eyes’ looked like they were plotting his murder as his gaze swung over to Malfoy.

Draco shut up quickly.

“You don’t ever get to call me that,” he says gruffly. “Only they can.”

Draco nods mutely, staring resolutely down at his plate and avoiding all eye contact.

“Hi, love,” Enzo sighs, flopping down on his stomach onto the library’s couch, his feet hanging off the edge and his head in your lap.

“Hi, Enzy,” you murmur, not looking up from your book as you start carding your fingers through his hair.

He lets out a pleased purr, his eyes falling shut.

You sit in a comfortable silence for a bit before Enzo suddenly speaks.

“Go out with me.”

“Out?” You ask, puzzled, as you look away from your book and down at him. “Out where?”

His eyes remain closed as he mumbles into your stomach, “Fortescue’s?”

“Sure,” you shrug. “I love ice cream. Ooh! We should invite Panz and Matty too!”

His eyes open slowly and he sighs. “Y/N.”

“Mhm?”

“I’m asking you out on a date. Romantically.”

“Oh!” You look bewildered. “Oh- no one’s ever asked me out before.”

“Yes they have. Like, multiple times a week.”

“Really?” You look absolutely stunned.

Enzo rolls over to lay on his back, his head still in your lap and looking up at you. “Are you even… aware that Theodore likes you?”

“Teddy?”

“Yeah, darlin’. Teddy and I’ve both been in love with you since like, first year.”

“First year?!”

“…yes, love. I’m pretty sure ninety-five percent of the school is under the impression that we’re dating.”

“What??”

“I literally kissed you at the Yule Ball.”

“I thought that was in like, a friendly way!”

“How??”

You pant heavily, sweaty and exhausted but content. Theo’s chest heaves with exertion as he rolls over onto his stomach, tossing an arm over your waist and nuzzling his face into your neck.

Enzo follows suit, pressing a kiss to your forehead and settling down beside you, his fingers drawing random shapes on your outer thigh.

You wait a moment before asking, “So does this mean you guys are like… into me?”

Title: Magical Cratures...and Herbology?

Part two of 'Troublesome Niffler'

Narrator's POV (SAME AS THE LAST ONE!!!)

Key words: (NF/N): Niffler's name. (BT/N): Bowtruckle's name.

Warnings: some angst, bullying, bad thoughts about self. :(

Headannon: since when making that movies Neville had to wear this suit that made him a bit chubby, my headcannon is that he's chubby just like in the movies! You can kida see it on the pic.

The next few weeks, (Y/N) eventually got better, but his arm was basically...broken.

Turns out that he landed on his arm when he fell from the branch.

Now, Neville blamed himself even more :)

One day, when (Y/N) accidently tripped and Neville immediately catched him by his waist just so he couldn't get hurt again.

But it was in the middle of the hall

And Neville was literally behind him- yeah, you can imagine how awkward that was and how much Seamus teased Neville about it.

(Y/N) didn't know why he was suddenly so clingy and so over-proctetive of his well being. Nobody knew he broke his arm, only when he moved it.

The previous cast he was with was made out of bandages on the other arm. But now, it was taken out and now he had a real cast, all signed with all his friends' names and even little decorations or drawings.

Neville was happy that (Y/N) was receiving all the friendly attention, as to was before when he was treated like a Slytherin misfit. He just wasn't happy on what caused the friendly gestures.

One day, Neville was near the lake, his foot bare to the cold waters and the ticklish feeling of sand between his toes. Just as he was searching through the sweet waters, he heard a familiar voice. "When searching through lakes, fishes are alarmed by the sudden movement and go hide under rocks to take cover. I can help you find them!" (Y/N) beamed as he walked towards the lake. "N-No thanks, (Y/N). I don't want you to get your cast wet."

(Y/N) groaned as he put a hand on his hips and rolled his eyes. Neville heard the groan and turned to him. "Sorry, d-did I say something?" Neville asked, feeling un-easy to the gesture.

"Nev, you have to stop worrying about me just because I broke my arm! It's not like it's made of glass, y'know?" (Y/N) took of his shoes and socks and stepped into the lake next to his boyfriend.

"But I let you fall on that tree, and you broke your arm and I didn't even see it!"

"Because you didn't know it would happen-"

"No, because I was too much of a coward to climb that tree, or to go into Professor Snape's office to retrieve (NF/N), only for him to escape! Or like w-when I couldn't fight off those pixies and was called 'Chandlier-Bottom' for the e-entire weak, or when I couldn't even stop Harry and the others not get into trouble on our first year...o-or when...or when I just left them push me around..." Neville didn't realize that fat tears rolled down his eyes after he snapped at his boyfriend. "I'm just too scared that something will happen to you, like...like what happened to Mum and Dad..."

"N-Nev..." (Y/N) reached for his shoulder only for him to swing it away from him.

"Malfoy was right, I-I'm no Gryffindor, I'm just a pathetic Hufflepuff. Heck, I don't even deserve to be in Hogwarts. I just let eveyone down..." Neville looked away.

"Neville, you deserve to be in Gryffindor, because you're brave, you just...you just don't see it. And you make me, your grandma, and your parents proud. I mean, look at you! You're a Herbology genius, top of the class, and it's like you're the only gentlemen and I'm so lucky to have you! People bully you because they're jealous, did you know that?" (Y/N) wraps his arms around his boyfriend's waist before laying his chin on his shoulder.

"And even if you were put in Hufflepuff, it doesn't mean that you're weak! It means that you're loyal, and you are loyal!" (Y/N) pecks his jawline.

"When did you start to feel these things?" (Y/N) eventually asks after a few minutes of comfortable silence. "Since when I was 6, after being bullied for being chubby..." Neville sadly admits.

"Being chubby is a good thing. People who are chubby have great advantages like being more warm on cold winters or giving great hugs and cuddles, just like you do!"

Neville turns his head to his shorter boyfriend and smiled. "Thanks..." he says, turning his full body around and wrapping his arms around his boyfriend's waist, (Y/N) now putting his hands on his shoulders.

"I can't say that I feel all better now, b-but atleast I feel...better now." Neville smiles his dorky smile.

"Glad to know, Herbology nerd." (Y/N) joked, pecking his plum lips.

"Thanks, Care of Magical Creatures nerd" Neville jokes back, pulling himself closer making their foreheads touch.

"You're welcome.."

For the rest of the day, they stay near the lake hanging with (BT/N) and talking about their favorite subjects while cuddling.

But all that (Y/N) thought after this...was that he was gonna hex Neville's bullies the next day.

Both Neville and the reader are in their... idk, (coming up with this right now)... 5th year? It doesn't really follow the OG plot so... yeah.

Oh, and it might not be very in-character, but I tried my best.

OH ONE LAST THING- This insinuates Hermione x Pansy because I cherish my headcanons.

(Y/N) walked up to the castle after attending Care of Magical Creatures, deciding to use his free hour to read in the Great Hall. The library was always too crowded this time of day, meaning Madame Pince was extra irritated. So basically an altogether bad situation that (Y/N) wanted to avoid.

He walked into the slightly crowded (though quieter than the library) Hall, making his way towards his table. (Y/N) took off his blue and silver scarf, setting it on the table with his bag before sitting down on the bench. He pulled out a book that his Gryffindor friend, Hermione, had recommended him. It was just for leisure reading, which he was enjoying. Just as he opened to the previously marked page, said Gryffindor friend sat down in front of him.

"Oh, (Y/N), you will not believe what just happened in potions! Snape threatened to use Neville's potion on his toad, Trevor! We all know Neville isn't skilled in potions, so I had to step in to help and got points taken from Gryffindor for 'Speaking out of turn'! Snape is a vile man. Poor Neville," Hermione ranted as she pulled out several course books and blank pieces of parchment. (Y/N) assumed she had been assigned an essay or two.

"Are Neville and Trevor alright?" he asked, eyebrows creasing in concern. He'd never really talked to Neville, but he seemed sweet and definitely didn't deserve Snape's wrath.

"Trevor is, I'm not sure about Neville, though," she answered, dipping her quill in her ink pot.

(Y/N) thought for a moment before pulling a parchment from his own bag, along with a quill and ink. He wrote a letter to Neville and slipped it into an envelope he had. He wrote Neville's name in swirly cursive on the front and slid it over to Hermione, which made her look up from her work.

"What's this?" she asked, picking up the paper and reading the name.

"I was wondering if you could deliver that to Neville the next time you see him?"

"Sure. You have lovely penmanship, by the way," she complimented as she slipped it into her bag.

"Thank you, it took practice." (Y/N) chuckled and returned to his book.

...

Later that night Hermione returned to her common room after splitting off from (Y/N), the two having walked together until they had to part ways. The portrait opened after she gave it the password and she climbed in, searching the filled room for Harry and Ron. She spotted them easily enough, and Neville was conveniently sitting with them.

Hermione approached them as she removed her scarf and put it in her bag, trading it for the letter.

"Hello, boys. Here, Neville, my friend asked me to give this to you," she explained as she held the letter out towards Neville. He seemed surprised as he took it, blinking when he saw his name.

"Wow, I don't think I've ever seen my name written this pretty. Who's your friend?" Neville asked as he traced the letters gently with his finger.

"(Y/N) (L/N) from Ravenclaw."

"Oh, (L/N)! He seems like a nice chap," Ron commented, Harry smiling and nodding in agreement.

"Quiet, though," Harry added.

"Hmm, not really," Hermione disagreed. "You just don't notice him."

Harry and Ron shrugged and the trio walked away, leaving Neville with his letter. He opened it and saw the same handwriting as his name. It was neat yet swirly cursive.

It read:

"Dear Neville,

You probably don't know me, but I'm (Y/N) (L/N) from Ravenclaw. I think we had herbology last year together. You were bloody brilliant in it.

Neville flushed at the compliment, lucky no one was watching him as he read it.

I was talking with Hermione and she told me what happened in potions. Is Trevor okay? I hope he is. I'm also worried for you, Snape can be cruel and you seem to be one of his favorite targets.

Neville flushed deeper- from both embarrassment and endearment. No one payed this much attention to him, much less send him a letter asking how Trevor was and expressing worry for himself.

I would like to help, if you'll let me. I'm almost top of my class in potions and can help you learn. Tutor you, if you will. You can either write back a response or find me. I frequent the library and Quidditch field often, so that's most likely where you'll find me.

Neville just blinked down at the paper he held. The cute Ravenclaw boy just offered to tutor him in potions and noticed his skill in herbology.

He decided he wasn't brave enough to talk to him in person, knowing he would turn into an embarrassing, red, blubbering mess. So he'd write him back.

Neville walked up to his dorm and sat down at the desk he and his dormmates shared. Pulling out a quill and parchment he wrote:

Neville cast a quick spell to dry the ink, luckily without pulling a Seamus and setting it on fire, and slipped it into an envelope identical to the one (Y/N) sent, seeing as they were the school issued ones. He scribbled (Y/N)'s name over it messily and ran back down to the common room, hoping one of the girl's- or even Hermione herself- were there to receive the message to deliver the letter.

There were still a handful of people in the common room, including Lavender Brown.

"Excuse me, Lavender?" Neville asked, approaching her with the letter nervously clasped in his sweaty hands.

"Neville?" Lavender responded, standing up from the couch she was sitting on.

"Can you give this to Hermione? And please tell her to give it to... the Ravenclaw," Neville asked timidly, not using (Y/N)'s real name so that it wouldn't be traced back to him. The last thing Neville wanted was for (Y/N) to get teased for talking to him.

"Uhm... odd request, but alright. Goodnight, Neville."

"Goodnight, Lavender."

Lavender walked up the stairs to the girl's dorms and Neville prayed that Lavender "Gossip" Brown wouldn't be interested in opening it. Now that he thought about it, maybe he should've waited to give it to Hermione himself the next day. Well, it was too late now.

Riddled with anxiety about the letter, Neville fell into an uneasy sleep. All thoughts went back to the letter that he had safely stored in his case at the end of his bed.

...

"Boo!"

Hermione gasped with wide eyes and held a hand to her chest, her surprised look morphing into a glare.

(Y/N), on the other hand, found the reaction rather amusing.

"You better watch your back, (L/N)," Hermione warned, pointing an accusing finger at him.

"I always do, Granger." (Y/N) winked at her teasingly.

"Oh, by the way, Neville wrote you back." She turned tot he bookshelf in front of her and avoided eye contact as she pretended to browse.

"He did?! Where is it?"

"I'm not sure I should tell you after what you just pulled."

"Please, Hermione! I'll do anything!" (Y/N) dramatically fell to his knees as she loudly whispered, (they were still in a library, he's no animal). His hands clasped in front of his face as he pleadingly looked up at Hermione.

"...Anything?"

"I'm going to regret this, aren't I?" (Y/N) asked rhetorically, looking scared.

"Anything, like... giving me your secret list of muggle book recommendations that you've never let me see?" Hermione smirked as she raised a brow down at him.

(Y/N) hung his head and slowly stood up, revealing his defeated frown.

"Fine," he sighe dout.

"Yes!" Hermione hissed and jumped up and down. The only reason Madame Pince hadn't gotten after them yet was because they were her favorite students, and this was a rare occasion, them being slightly loud. "The letter is in my bag."

(Y/N) quickly walked over to the chair with Hermione's bag hanging off of it, finding the letter easily. He smiled as he saw Neville's nearly unintelligible scrawl spelling his name.

"What are you smiling about?" Hermione asked smugly, sitting down with the book she had successfully found.

"Isn't his handwriting adorable?" His cheesy smile broadened as he flipped the envelope for Hermione to see, sitting down across from her.

"I wouldn't say adorable, exactly Unreadable is a better word..." Hermione grimaced.

"Oh, hush," (Y/N) scolded as he gently opened the envelope, unfolding the paper and letting his eyes fall on the first words. "He even apologizes for it!" he gushed to the frizzy haired girl across from him, who responded with no more than an unimpressed look.

After reading the letter, (Y/N) quickly got the supplies out to respond, taking time to make his handwriting just as pretty as last time.

"Can you-"

"Give this to Neville? I'm not going to be an errand girl-"

"Come on, Hermione. Don't you want that list?" (Y/N) wiggled his eyebrows, trying to convince Hermione to keep exchanging the letters for them.

She rolled her eyes and groaned, but took the letter anyways.

"Thank you~" (Y/N) sugarcoated it but Hermione wasn't complaining.

"Get met hat list and it's no problem."

...

Neville sought Hermione out this time, eager for a response.

"Hermione, did you get anything from (L/N)?" he asked, not even trying to hide his interest.

"You're in luck." Hermione smiled and handed Neville the letter. She knew her closest friend (outside of Harry and Ron) was falling in love with the Gryffindor boy, and she was thrilled it was being reciprocated.

Neville ran up to the dorm, glad it was empty, and opened the letter carefully, as not to damage it.

"Dear Neville,

I'm glad to hear back from you! I am also glad to hear that Trevor remains unharmed.

On the topic of tutoring; you needn't repay me. I am happy to tutor you free of charge. I wouldn't mind hearing about herbology, though. Maybe after our first session we could sit together at lunch and you could tell me about your plants? Only if you'd like to, of course.

P.S. Meet me in the library on Thursday during free hour before lunch? ♥"

Not only had he signed off with "Love", he added a heart at the end. Neville was probably reading too much into it but that didn't stop his heart from racing and his face from heating up. This man was perfect, Neville was sure of it.

Both the heart and the word "Love" seemed hesitant, the lines shaky and the ink faint. Neville wasn't used to being this bold but it felt right. With (Y/N) it felt right.

Neville gave it to Hermione and thanked her after she assured him she'd deliver it the next day.

...

(Y/N) stood by the "potions" shelf, which was coincidentally nearest to the door. He didn't want Neville to walk in, not see him, and assume he'd been pranked.

"(L/N)?" his hesitant voice asked, catching (Y/N)'s attention.

"Neville! Please, call me (Y/N)."

He held out a hand and Neville shook it, both dazed by the comforting feeling it had brought them both.

"Would you like to take a seat? I've collected some books that I think would be helpful."

Neville, was was still trying to shake out of the effect (Y/N)'s voice had on him, nodded and sat down at a nearby table.

"T-thanks," Neville stuttered as he pulled out parchments to take notes on. He wasn't used to this kind of attention.

"It's no problem. Now, if you just tell me where you have the most trouble we can start there." He flashed Neville a reassuring smile, making Neville return it with a more timid one.

...

Soon enough the hour was coming to an end, making (Y/N) sigh in disappointment as he looked away from the clock.

"It seems that lunch time is approaching." He stood and went to check out the books they had studied for Neville, leaving him to scramble his notes together and stand up.

"Can I take you up on your offer?" Neville asked as Madame Pince handed (Y/N) the books. He looked Neville with a kind, but confused stare, seemingly not remembering.

"To, uh... to sit together at lunch and talk about herbology..."

A look of understanding swept across (Y/N)'s face, making a smile appear as he held out the books.

"Of course! Would you like to sit at the Ravenclaw table or your own?"

"Ravenclaw." He didn't need his friends hounding him about the cute boy he was sitting with.

Neville reached out to take the books and their fingers brushed, shivers running up Neville's back while the tips of (Y/N)'s ears turned the faintest shade of red.

"Let's get going, shall we?" (Y/N) gestured to the door, letting Neville take the lead.

...

"Neville has another letter for you," Hermione revealed, the mischievous look on her face putting (Y/N) on edge.

"Really?!" They hadn't spoken since the day before at lunch, when they scheduled the next session for the same time the following week.

"What're you so excited for?"

"Don't be daft, Hermione."

"I want to hear you say it."

"I want you to confess how you feel about Pansy, but we can't all get what we want."

"So you do like Neville!"

"Did you just admit to liking Pansy?"

"What?"

Hermione rolled her eyes and slid the paper over to (Y/N), trying to calm the red in her cheeks. He eagerly opened it, excited to add to his growing collection of letters.

"ᴰᵉᵃʳ ⁽ʸ/ᴺ⁾,

Like I said, kinda out of character for Neville, but I enjoyed writing it nonetheless.
