i am curious on your thoughts on ruri tunes...I personally like it quite a bit but it definitely makes it harder to binge through chapters as i get tired of playing the same 7 songs lol. I also wondered how they'd keep it interesting, considering I'm only on ch 12 and am dreading having to go to 30 with the same songs on the same normal level

On it's own, I like Ruri Tunes! I love the gameplay and the chibi characters are so cute!! But as a whole... it just doesn't work. Ruri Tunes is a rhythm game that's awkwardly shoved in, then forced to be important in a completely different kind of game.

Outside of mini-games or events, rhythm games aren't a thing you can just slide into your unrelated game with no warning. They're a genre, after all. You can't just put one into a visual novel dating sim, make it the defining factor of gameplay, and think players who never would've expected nor voiced want for it to be happy. It'd be like if you wanted to play a board game, but after setting everything up, found out that you have to play a first person shooter to determine how many spaces your piece moves. They clash, it's awkward, and most importantly, a lot of players don't like it.

Luckily, I enjoy rhythm games, so Ruri Tunes isn't that much of an issue to me. But it is to a lot of others. I've even seen some people say they've dropped Obey Me because of it. And I get it!! Ruri Tunes is incredibly time consuming (though the devs have clearly stopped caring about that, since non-VIP players can't skip event dance battles in SWD without using devil points), repetitive (as you mentioned, anon, they only have so many songs to use), and not to mention disability unfriendly! If you're going to make it mandatory, at least do something like D4DJ and include an auto mode!! It's like Solmare hates making money or something.

And the worst part about this is that there's genuinely no way to change Ruri Tunes (at least, no ways I can think of) without either making it the center of the game or pushing it to the side entirely. In rhythm games like Bandori or Enstars, you can actually ignore the story and only focus on the songs. You can do this in D4DJ as well, but thanks to the auto mode, you can actually just view the game as a visual novel with a rhythm game mechanic. If the devs were determined to make a full fleged rhythm game in Nightbringer, they should've done something like that. But because they were too afraid to let go of SWD's clunky ass story and gameplay shoved together deal, we got an "evolved" version of dance battles basically... for the worse.

TLDR: Don't mix two drastically different game genres together, unless it was intentional (and advertised as such) from the start. You'll make some people happy, some more people just okay, and a lot more people dropping your game.

nightbringer lesson 14 FUCKED ME UP in several ways but primarily I've spent the last 48 hours making myself sad over the solomon backstory we got. specifically I have, for no reason, latched onto that one chapter in the Kids event where baby solomon cried because he felt so guilty over being responsible for that spell. and that just feels a touch more depressing in context

Hair messed up, lipstick smudged, shirt halfway unbuttoned and hanging off their shoulder, her face flushed as she holds onto the doorframe yet totally unfazed by her current appearance as she just casually responds with a 'What's up' like it's normal. (Which probably is-) While Simeon is just on her bed in the background, shirt gone, covered in lipstick and bite marks from his face down to his lower stomach, face flushed as he pants and whines about them leaving

As a short fiesty girl myself, I very much approve this idea. Also um power up and get ready to tell "STAY" cause can you imagine the instant riot this is about to cause?

Or it might be more of a lengthy passive-aggresive couple of days for Simeon if this is the Nightbringer universe we are talking about.

"What's up?" You say with unbelievable nonchalance. The brothers look at you with widened eyes - at your newly exposed skin and the obvious signs of intimacy with someone.

They feel a burning inside them. Whether it's jealousy or the animalistic desire to rebrand you with their marks instead.

And if that wasn't enough - they actually see Simeon. Lying down and panting, with his face flushed and eyes struggling to stay open from the sheer bliss of it all.

His fingers were grasping at the sheets around you. "MC..." His needy voice slipped out.

Fuck. MC did that?

Suddenly everyone wants to be Simeon. They stare at the nails on your hands, your lips look even prettier with the smudged lipstick, your teeth peeking through your smirk - they want to feel it all.

Lucifer tries his best to remain calm but his eye twitches frantically as he calls out to Simeon to "have a quick word with him". And his face gets redder as he sees the marks you've made on Simeon up close, and glares at you. It should be him you should have been doing this with.

Mammon and Levi get into a tug of war, both trying to get you to their rooms. In the end, they both end up taking off their shirts and kneeling in front of you, silently begging you to bite them senseless like you did with Simeon. They promise they'll be good boys, way better than Simeon.

Satan's eyes dart everywhere in keen observation - as if trying to recreate in his mind whatever transpired between you and the angel. So he can imagine how it would feel if it was him. He imagines you on top of him, smirking the same way as you are now.

Asmo on the other hand shamelessly asks Simeon for details. How hard do you bite, how soft do your lips feel, how your tongue feel on his skin, what you do with your hands, what you say during - he gets aroused just listening to it.

Beel stands there stunned, cheeks flushed as he has a vague idea of what might have happened. Belphie full on hides his scarlet face in his pillow and groans. They're both about to have some very questionable dreams tonight.

And Simeon? Well he can't stop coming back for more. Even though you both almost got caught, he appears the next night, shirt almost off and his pants unbuttoned. You need to finish what you started.

You smile as he coaxes you back to your bed and on top of his lap. You tut at his impatience - "The door. We didn't lock it."

"Leave it be, please I need you now, MC." He breathes against your lips. You kiss him silly, hearing him whimper through it. You grab his shoulders much to his delight.

"They might see us in the act this time." You warn him. He pulls you closer, burying his head against your chest.

"Let them, I want you too much to care." He lets himself fall, at your whim and mercy. You oblige him and revel in his almost musical moans.

So uh. Lesson 38. Man I swear it was just yesterday I was writing the post about Lesson 37?! Augh.

Okay, spoilers below, and be prepared 'cause it was another CRAZY CRAZY LESSON. No I didn't take another 100 screenshots why would you think that? Also I apologize, this is another rather unhinged post.

OKAY NEW THEORY.

"Father" is Nightbringer! Right?!? Tell me I'm not alone in thinking this might be the case!!

Okay, so maybe not, but we had so much Father talk this lesson!! Way more than any other, I'd say!

And I hated it?!?

Okay lemme backtrack a bit.

So, we got Lucifer in ice and chains and he's yelling at his Father saying what do you want, you never tell me anything, give me a sign!

And then he breaks out of his chains, but he's completely out of control! And then DIAVOLO shows up.

SIR. There is just something about Diavolo in full demon form, getting all angry and ready to fight... But I don't think I've ever seen Diavolo with an ominous aura like that?? I can't remember for sure, but I swear it doesn't happen too often. Anyway, he straight up fights with Lucifer to try to calm him down.

The girls are fighting! I didn't crop this bottom image as much as I usually do because I need you all to see how BIG these two are in their full demon forms like this. All those wings...

Note that the angels and MC are watching all of this from the sidelines... and then Simeon blesses MC and I am in love with him and his beautiful face.

YOU are the only one making me swoon at the moment though.

Anyway, then all the bros show up and save the day! I was like yeah, that checks out. Lucifer & Diavolo are going at it and MC tries to get in the way, but it's not enough until all the others show up, too. As soon as Lucifer sees his brothers are all right, he calms down.

Asmo suggests a hug and Lucifer AGREES. They have a group hug where Lucifer is clearly pulling everyone into it himself. He apologizes to MC (!!) and THEN as if all this wasn't enough, MC's ring starts to glow and Lucifer turns into his angel form!!

Once again uncropped so you can see this ridiculous mf and all his wings.

Diavolo is smitten.

And he kneels!!!!!!

He kneels to Lucifer in angel form!!!! And all the others do too!!!!!

I lost my goddamn mind at this part. And Lucifer's like I don't understand why is this happening? And Simeon is like, "he" heard you and this is your answer. He wants you to feel his love and his forgiveness and blah blah blah (I'm paraphrasing). But I need to tell you all this even though I don't normally go into this much detail and here is why.

FUCK THAT GUY.

This is "his" way of showing Lucifer that he loves him?!?!

Diavolo, get off your knees, you are not helping this situation!!!

Okay, okay, let me calm down.

Here is why this bothers me so much. And please note that this just my personal opinion and the way it all came off to me! I'm totally open to hearing other opinions on it.

I hate this because it makes no sense. This is the same Father that was going to kill Lilith, the same one who allowed the brothers and Lucifer, the one he supposedly loves so much, to fall in the first place.

I don't care if Michael is the one behind everything. If their Father guy can do this, then there's no way he couldn't also prevent all of this.

The only way I'm going to give him a chance at all is if they somehow make it so that he can't do much at all. He's trapped or something. Michael is truly the mastermind behind it all and Father is doing what he can from where he is (like imprisoned or something).

Because otherwise, this makes no sense.

AND WASN'T I RIGHT?? It turned out that the whole thing was orchestrated by the Celestial Realm AND the Devildom! The three worlds have an agreement - powerful beings can be imprisoned in Cocytus for their crimes if at least two representatives out of three agree. One from the Celestial Realm did. This was confirmed by Simeon, who went back briefly to ask Michael. However, Michael wouldn't tell him who did it.

NO. You can't be content with that! Michael obviously knows who it was!! So why would he protect them?? Or is he protecting himself?!?

And then someone from the Devildom did, too! But instead of just being like oh well, guess it's a mystery, Diavolo blames himself and says he's doing everything he can to find out who did it. My money is on the House of Lords.

So they were in cahoots, as I suspected!

Anyway, I just don't understand what all of this was supposed to accomplish for Lucifer's character. If they want to make us question the Celestial Realm, then yo I was already on that train! This whole situation certainly makes Michael look very suspicious. And Lucifer goes on and on later about how he must have forgotten about his father's love and blah blah. And I'm like what???

Also this whole part where Lucifer was dreaming or whatever and the brothers were angels:

Levi says "Our orders always come through Michael." That's the crux of this whole thing. We don't know enough about the state of "Father" to really know for sure.

Again, if it turns out that "Father" isn't terrible and somehow had no say in all the bad things that are happening and was truly trying to help Lucifer, then fine. I can accept that. But from where things are right now, it seems more like "Father" can't let Lucifer go and in this case, that's making things worse for Luci.

Do you really think giving Lucifer back his angel form long enough for everyone to be in awe and even make Diavolo kneel is somehow helping him? Because I disagree. Leave Lucifer alone already.

Though he then passes out and sleeps for quite a while.

And oh! Okay, here is my favorite part hee hee:

Obviously I squealed a lil when he showed up! They were all stuck in Cocytus and couldn't figure out how to get home. And someone was like "if only Barbatos could portal us home" and then this happened.

He's so practical. I'm in love with him.

Then we make a pact with Lucifer. AND THIS MOTHERFUCKER.

Flashbacks to the OG, anyone?? I guess he would still lie to himself like this, we are in the past after all. And I think he genuinely believes that MC is his at first. What a delusional simp he turns out to be, though, huh?

And then!!

Cocytus Hall is destroyed because of course it was named that due to being built on top of the entrance to Cocytus. What was the point of that exactly? Why wasn't it just Purgatory Hall from the start?? I don't know.

Hard Lesson:

Diavolo, Barbatos, Mephisto, and all the Little Ds are discussing the destruction of Cocytus Hall and that's when we find out they rebuild it into Purgatory Hall.

We also see Little D No 1 who makes an appearance for the first time. Barbatos says he wasn't able to maintain a physical form up until now. Diavolo speculates it's because their "Father" couldn't let Lucifer go before.

I do not understand this "Father" at all. I'm so confused about it and it's making me crazy (in case you couldn't tell).

Yeah, we got to make a pact with Lucifer. We got to kiss him. It's heavily implied we did some other stuff with him, too.

But this lesson was mostly about Father and his love and to me that all seemed to come out of freakin' nowhere. Especially since last I checked, it was Father who caused all of this bullshit to begin with???

I don't actually think "Father" is Nightbringer, but wouldn't that be interesting? Father of all demons is also the father of all angels? Why would they be different entities? Maybe they're two halves of the same whole? Maybe they're siblings?

I just don't know.

Yeah that's how I felt when Simeon and the angels were like okay see ya we're going back to the Celestial Realm! It's okay, Barb saved us. At least he seems to be chill about things.

And Solomon told the brothers he wasn't going to take MC back to the human world right away, so it's not the end yet. But can we go back now? I want to! I swear by now, I'd have confronted Barbatos because I think he knows what's going on and couldn't he just take me back to the present without all these other shenanigans? And make Solomon come back with me too, obviously. In fact, past!Barb can come too. You can never have too many Barbs!

Okay I'm devolving into nonsense. I just don't know how I feel about any of this. It's not making sense and I really hope that the next lesson clears some of this up for me.

You know how everybody says that no things and events are coincidences?

This sorcerer definitely and deliberately got you transported back in time to solo you.

You don't need to know that though.

At first, he indeed got a bit guilty from isolating you so suddenly and without a warning from your beloved demon brothers.

But the more he saw the beauty of you and him living like a domestic couple together?

It eased his guilt almost immediately.

Back then in the original world, he spent most of his time gazing at you from afar. Wishing that it was he who was closest to you.

Not those demon brothers that he can't seem to shake at all.

Sure, he became your master/mentor, but that's it. You never saw him more than that.

And it frustrated him greatly.

So he had no choice. I hope you forgive him for that :(.

Solomon definitely got more closer to you once you went back in time.

But it was still hard not to frown when he sometimes hear you cry in wanting to go back to the present.

So, he does his best to distract you from everything.

Solomon definitely manipulates everything to his whims if it means getting closer to you.

I can also see Solomon being nicer to you and a distant coldness to him when somebody speaks to him that's not you.

Two-faced Solomon is a thing i've been thinking about for quite a while, and it fits him so well.

If he had a choice, he would just keep you from rekindling flames with the past brothers at all.

But he's too nice for that.

That, and he can't afford your image of him to break at all.

People will warn you about him and how he's shady.

But you know him best! He would never force a demon on a pact at all! All of these demons only knew the sorcerer Solomon, and not him.

Oh he would definitely use tears also. He will not hesitate to do so once he knows tears are your weakness.

He will build an image of a mischievous but good sorcerer in your eyes.

And he will not hesitate to eliminate those who threatens to break that image at all

Both of you are human! Only you and him are all the both of you got. The others cannot be trusted that much.

Even the brothers! They're not your demon brothers that's for sure.

So only rely on him.

And only him.

Let's just say it was a bad day for Solomon.

He went back to the present and he can hear the present demon brother's bemoans of agony from not having you.

They were about to tear the whole devildom apart trying to find you.

Oops, Solomon didn't tell them. His bad, really.

The sorcerer society also decided to pester him greatly.

Then, there's Barbatos in both the past and present to bring you back to the present to not mess with the timeline anymore.

But Barbatos foresaw this already. So what's the point?

This only made Barbatos frown and say "He's gonna regret that."

Eh. He won't.

When Solomon went back to the hall, he realized you weren't there.

Strange, you're usually home by this time.

He asked the demon brothers, nothing.

He asked Simeon and Diavolo. But nothing also.

He even went as far to ask Thirteen, only to get a face full of octopus.

He's getting frustrated, not until he saw little Luke acting fidgety.

Oh. He knows where you are.

Unfortunately for him, you ran away from the hall because you figured out that he deliberately transported you here.

You screamed at him, asking him why.

And you started to question everything about him. About how if he's really as nice as he is, as to why he's so adamant on helping you, on how he knows every solution to everything!

Solomon can feel his whole resolve crumble. All his hard work down the drain.

this was SO hard for me to write, i just couldn’t come up with an scenario for this prompt that wasn’t like the one in Domesticity since it’s basically the same prompt, so i came up with this! it’s not exactly mc proposing the idea to Solomon but if that’s what you’re looking for you can check Domesticity ~

Two pairs of footsteps stopped right in front of Cocytus Hall’s frontal walkway. Solomon’s eyes studied the huge residential mansion, too big for even a family like the brothers. You were standing right next to him, your surprised expression and the curious undertones of your gaze made his heartbeat quicken.

All sorts of thoughts flooded his mind: laughing and snacking in the main living room, casually chatting about the day as you folded laundry together and carrying it back upstairs, maybe dancing in the kitchen before dinner and constant calls to let you know he was coming home.

“I hope you’re okay with coming here...” he cleared his throat, trying his best not to look too nervous “I know Diavolo didn’t really ask for your opinion in the matter, and you’re so used to living in the House of Lamentation…”

“No, it’s okay. This is okay.” you looked up at him with those eyes, those adorable eyes that could bring the strongest sorcerer down to his knees, and that smile, that lovely smile…

“Really?” a small spark of something unknown faintly flickered in his chest.

“Yeah… to be fair, i’ve always wanted to move in with you.”

No other words could’ve ever taken him by surprise like those did. He was sure he was staring at you like an idiot, and he was thankful you were now inspecting the building once again because he had to force his jaw to shut close.

“Really?” he repeated, for an instant it felt like he had ran out of words, his brain ran through every single word of the dictionary in every single language he had ever learned in his life and yet he couldn’t quite find himself speaking any other word.

“Yes” you chuckled, eyes once again resting on him as you turned his way “I thought about it during those times where I’d visit you at purgatory hall for magic lessons. Everything would’ve been so much calmer and easy going, and having you right there to keep teaching me? It would’ve been perfect. It didn’t happen back in our timeline, but I’m happy there’s a place and time where we can find somewhere to make our home.”

Home was a difficult word for someone like him to fully comprehend, specially when it referred to such a huge place, but he figured that as long as you were there with him any place could be home.

“Yes” he inhaled with a smile, finally being able to recognize that spark in his chest was hope, hope that maybe this was going to be the time and place where he’d finally win your heart “home.”

I just read Mammon's The Guardian Demon devilgram. Adorable! Mammon is top tier dad. My mc will fight those witch and raise that girl in Devildom with her father as God (or whatever obey me verison of God is) intended! I need dad Mammon in my life right now. Does the game mention his daughter more in other stuff?

Also Imma punch Solomon in the face. Sometimes this game makes it really hard to like Solomon. Why is he written to go out of his way to put down Mammon!? Yes, all of his brothers do it, but at least they know him and care about him when they're not being shitheads to each other. Why does Solomon have so much beef with Mammon? I'm not saying he can't, because everyone does. But idk it feels more aggressive when it comes from Solomon. Maybe it's because I haven't seen much of his character aside from the devilgrams and pop quizzes.

Yes!! Definitely one of my favourite devilgrams! Outside of the Devilgram they mention her in S1 and in S3, I believe, Mammon mentions the three witches and going up to the human world frequently to meet them

Okay so about Solomon,

-> He thinks in a very practical way rather than an emotional way and, though his constant smile and upbeat attitude may not show it, he's rather cynical (the complete opposite of Mammon). We see this a lot in Nightbringer, where he's constantly preparing for a fight between the human world and other two realms and is heavily skeptical when MC talks about making the other two realms see humans as equals without it leading to a fight.

-> He talks about how demons (and angels) look down on humans and about wanting to make them see humans as equals but he himself seems to see demons as lesser than humans. He somewhat admits this in s3? s4? where he says he only started seeing demons as friends recently. But even this doesn't stop him from collecting them and trying to use them as weapons against their own people if he needs to

-> Solomon has lived a long time and it's made him very stuck in his belief that demons (and angels) see humans as lesser beings and nothing, other than proving it wrong through force, will change that. Even though we do see the attitudes of demons changing slowly throughout s1-4 with Diavolo's pilot exchange program

-> Solomon doesn't really have any family members or even close friends when he's first introduced in S1. The closest people to him are Asmo, Barbatos and Thirteen and we already know that he didn't see the demons he had pacts with as friends until recently. So that just leaves Thirteen, with whom he has a very atypical friendship. They care about each other but they wouldn't put each other before anything else. He doesn't seem to have the best understanding on what typical (specially familial) relationships are like. This is why Solomon initially believes that MC, being human, would be like him and pick the safety of humanity over their loved ones. When almost any average human would tell you that they'd pick their loved ones over countless faceless strangers - something even Nightbringer knew

So Mammon's whole deal with the witches for the sake of some human child probably made him very skeptical. And so he tries to break it down to something that's more understandable to him, something that fits within his belief system

Eg: "Oh she's not excited to see Mammon because she sees him like a family member she just has a silly little kiddie crush on him"

^ Which is an insane thing for him to say, specially when both Mammon and MC (two of the most emotionally intelligent characters in om!) instantly pick out the fact that the girl sees Mammon as a father figure

But Solomon interprets it like a crush because crushes make sense. You can have a crush on a demon, specially if they helped you out. Hell, there are demons specifically there for you to have crushes on like Asmo and the succubi and incubi. But for a demon and a human to see each other as family? That's strange

Anyway Solomon is such a complex and interesting character, there's just so much you can unpack there, but I tried to keep this short as possible

Obey Me Theory

I've mentioned it but never discussed it so HERE WE GO!!

In my first post I mentioned that I thought the brothers' sins were based on how they coped with their trauma. I'm sick right now so I'm not sure how good this explanation will be but here we go

So, even though most of the fandom knows about the Obey Me lore some don't (SPOILERS AHEAD!!)

Quick rundown: Basically the brothers were all very close to this girl named Lilith, close enough that they considered her a sister when they lived in Celestia. Eventually, she was introduced to a human and fell in love, but that human got sick and she used forbidden methods to save him. This caused a war and ended with her dying as the brothers watched.

So, how did this affect the brothers? They coped with it in their own ways, but these ways seemed to take them over. Which makes sense because nothing about grief is normal, and it can be hard to get out of once you're in it.

In my theory, the different ways the brothers coped are represented by their sins.

Starting with Lucifer, obviously, he is the sin of pride. When he was in Celestia, he was adored for being a model example. He constantly kept up his appearance and was viewed as a leader or a strong figure, so he thought he had to keep up this act to stay admired. After Lilith died, Lucifer likely felt hopeless, he had become the very thing he hated (a demon), lost his sister, and overall failed to protect his family. He covered up what had happened to protect everyone but that didn't change his emotions. Because of how he behaved in the past, he almost instantly latched on to the boss-employee relationship he had with Diavolo, and to distract himself buried himself in his work. He found that he was discriminated against for being an ex angel, but also that the brothers still viewed him as a guide. So, to regain the little control he had, he faked confidence and tried to control how people viewed him, the quality of work, and his strength. This also, however, caused him to become very anxious of the thoughts around him and as a result his pride took him over.

Then we have Mammon. Escapism seems to be a common trend with these brothers, and Mammon found it through money. He tried to buy happiness, and because of Lilith's death I can imagine that he was scared he wouldn't be able to hold onto something, so he bought more than he needed and got more money than he needed, (even though he still ended up broke,) with the hope that it wouldn't have been taken away from him. He also has mentioned that he likes gambling, which not only supports his money hoarding habits but also gives people a rush of adrenaline, that may have changed his mood and made him feel better for a limited amount of time. Like Lucifer, Mammon wants to protect his family even though they don't always agree with his methods. Greed could play a part in this because if he has a lot of something, people might respect him more and in turn respect his family more.

Leviathan's sin is so similar to Mammon's yet so different. Envy can be caused by Greed and make the same emotions, but they aren't exactly the same. It isn't jealousy either. Envy is when you want something that you don't already have and it makes you feel bad about yourself, while jealousy is towards something you feel like you own. This is important to Leviathan's character because in Nightbringer, he mentions how he felt like he could never fit in anywhere. This is likely because he felt like he was missing what others had, and this feeling probably intensified once he was thrown into a pretty much unknown environment where people weren't as friendly to him. Once he had lost his sibling, he probably also became envious of people with full families, or just the thought of someone having one. He ended up really liking video games and animes to distract himself, but this only intensified his feelings because he felt like these were the only thing he had. And if he couldn't be the best or first at these things, then who was he? Definitely not someone important or deserving of others attention, right?

Satan's is a bit different here because he didn't actually lose a sibling. He was more of an addition than a loss. Because of this, and how he was birthed, he felt alienated from most of society. He also felt a lot of feelings he probably couldn't comprehend. He was shaped into who he was by Lucifer, but started to feel like he was no one but Lucifer himself and grew angry with himself for not being able to do anything about it. Because of these emotions he was feeling, as well as having likely emotionally unavailable siblings due to the time of his birth (even though they tried their best) he ended up becoming angry at himself and everyone around him, even his existence. Because he didn't know how to handle these emotions properly and others began to avoid him, he learned to bottle up these feelings, but that only made it worse. Generally, everything that he did made him angry because he just couldn't understand it.

Asmodeus is a bit of a..uh...case with his, but it definitely makes sense. When he was in Celestia, he was praised for his beauty and purity. Ever since he was little he was celebrating himself and what he was, because he was taught to do so. His image was almost all of who he was, what everyone praised him for. So, once he was thrown down into Devildom, he didn't know how to react. Purity wouldn't be praised anymore, and everyone hated him because of where he came from anyways. His entire self image was ruined, and even though he didn't regret giving Lilith even a chance at survival, was it all for nothing? So he tries to fit in. He makes himself look wanted to the public eye, tries and figures out Devildom's social norms, what they like, and what they want to see, but it doesn't work the way he wants it to. He becomes overly obsessed with his self image to the point of self destruction if he's rejected (Solomon found him sobbing because a woman rejected his advances,) but that's not the only reason he's so lustful. He behaves like this to distract himself, too, to not give himself a chance to think about what happened to him, and we see how he just doesn't comprehend the weight of situations both in the original Obey Me and in Nightbringer.

Beelzebub's is a bit difficult if you don't know how chemicals work and stuff, but I tried my best so here we go. Once Lilith died, Beelzebub carried a lot of guilt over the situation and blamed himself for not being able to protect her. This created a very anxious feeling for him, that could probably be considered very very close to hunger, or like a static feeling in his stomach. Because of this, he tried to fill the void by consuming as much as he can, which must be a lot because lets admit it...he is NOT a small man like wtf, 😭 but it never really worked. The feeling was still there, like something was wrong, and it hurt. But besides that, his gluttony may have also been because of how food affects the brain. A lot of people do binge eat when they're stressed, because it produces chemical reactions in the brain that can stop the discomfort for a little while, especially if you're eating something that you like. This may also be a part of the reason Beelzebub gets so mad when he has nothing to eat, because he has no way (in his mind) to control the stress, and gets overwhelmed.

Okay now I'm sure you're all very tired of me talking about Belphegor BUT PLEASE CHAT JUST LISTEN PLEASE HE'S SO RELATABLE JUST GIVE HIM A CHANCE. Belphegor watched Lilith die, and like Beelzebub very much blames himself for it, and like the other brothers was discriminated against heavily for being an ex angel. But instead of confronting this, Belphegor chose to avoid his thoughts. He slept, hoping that his dreams would be better and that he wouldn't have to feel what he was now. This way, no one could bother him, he didn't have to feel, in fact, he didn't have to experience half the things he does when he's awake. There was nothing for him to look forward to, anyways, so he'd be fine. But once he can't sleep he gets anxious, and we see this once he gets desperate and contacts MC, asking for help to sleep. He thinks that sleep will fix his problems when in reality he's just avoiding them like all the rest of his siblings.

Had an idea about a trans! Man Satan

Intro: Hi there it’s me, a trans man who’s an obey fan. I have been an obey me fan for the past 3 (nearly 4) years. While I’ve for a few times forgot about the game and would put it down for periods of time, I always have loved satan as character, way before I myself realized I was a trans guy. Since I have gotten very confident in my identity and have gained a lot of experiences, I thought I should basically project and headcanon some stuff similar for my favorite.

So to start off in my whole hc and idea, mc is NOT the descendant of Lilith (bc duh it’s such a weird thing to incorporate.) The relationship between mc and Lilith is that Lilith is just a protector or a guardian “Angel” to mc. There is a “descendant” to Lilith, and that is Satan. Although it’s more so like he’s a descendant of who she was by Lucifers memory combined with Lucifer’s wrath.

Satan when born was originally very similar in appearance to Lilith but yk had some differences obviously. And yk “born” a girl. But he realizes he’s trans at some point after his “birth”. His brothers were supportive and stuff bc I think headcanons of them not being supportive of queer people at All are absolutely ridiculous. But at the same time satan like myself and maybe many other trans people, don’t believe that to be the case. Or at the very least don’t think people actually see us as we identify.

This idea ties incredibly well alongside his disdain and hatred for being perceived as a copy of Lucifer, now when you add being perceived and your brothers dead sister and yk especially a girl? That will bubble up and explode. Many times in fact. Which I believe really adds to who he is in nightbringer and to his character development in general.

Satan wants to be seen as himself and as his own person. But when tied to all these perceptions by people you don’t know and maybe even your own brothers deep down? Those thoughts and feelings can destroy your sense of self and prevent you from truly becoming who you want to be. Because what if they’re all right? What if you are just a spawn of your brothers anger and sadness tossed in with his memory of his sister? What if you are just some girl trying to be something you’re not?

This is why I think his relationship (platonic or romantic) with mc is so incredibly important and wonderful. Mc is Someone who at First Meeting him in og! Or NB!, Doesnt know fully about it nor change their feelings about him based off of that. They treat him like he is his own person. Like he is more than just a copy of 2 other people. Like he is Satan and not Lucifer, or Lilith, or just a “girl” on the street. He is Satan. He is himself. He is a man with his own thoughts, feelings, experiences, that Lucifer or Lilith could never understand or experience himself.

All done !! I think I got my feelings out about how I feel about my headcanon, forgive me if there are mistakes in my grammar or spelling, I wrote this on my phone at 10:40 while hungry! I realized while writing this is especially more so a headcanon about satan being the descendant of Lilith than him being trans (but him being trans is crucial to my Interpretation of this hc at least). As for my final thoughts? My mc and Satan have t4t gay sex every night god bless.

☽ note | dude i never got thr notification for this request and im so upset about it cause its so cute. i have not played any of the recent lessons (i think i stopped at lesson 7 oops) for nightbringer so this will be set during the last lessons in the original game <3

Mc took a deep breath to try and calm her nerves, however that was proving fruitless when her thoughts were running rampant from her anxieties She was planning on coming out to Thirteen today. In her mind, Mc was aware that she was being irrational, and that Thirteen would accept her no questions asked - but, she couldn't help but panic considering it was her literal crush she was planning on coming out to, only working to make her anxieties all the more overwhelming. She didn't know if Thirteen herself liked girls, and it only made her hands all the more clammy at the thought of rejection. But, she reminded herself that she had to do this, or else she’d never know how Thirteen felt. But, goodness, was it not terrifying?

She consulted the brothers the day before, asking if she should come out to Thirteen, and was met with an astounding yes from everyone (especially Asmo.) Beel, however, had thought they were already dating, receiving a babble from Mc as she tried to explain that she and Thirteen weren’t dating (“yet,” Asmo so helpfully quipped as Mc groaned in exasperation.)

Solomon proved to be an exceptionally terrible person to turn to for advice, especially when he suggested a hypnotic potion to "ease the nerves." The audacious offer was swiftly shot down and she left the sorcerer as quickly as she arrived. She didn't know why she considered him in the first place considering Solomon's and Thirteen's "friendship", but in her defense, she was nervous and wanted all the reassurance she could get before finally going through with it.

Simeon and Luke, while they didn't provide any advice, comforted her a bit despite her own thoughts betraying her. They reminded her that Thirteen would support her one hundred percent and that she wouldn't know how Thirteen felt unless she shot her shot; but, as much as Mc wanted to shoot her shot, she didn't think she was brave enough to do so quite yet. She had only barely worked up the courage to come out - asking her out was a complete other level she didn’t think she'd be ready for for a long time, if at all. Regardless, she thanked them for their reassurances, feeling a little more confident than she did before.

Consulting the demon lord and his butler didn't prove fruitful as she only got a beaming grin from the former and a knowing smile from the latter. The advice Barbatos offered was cryptic and completely flew over Mc's head. Whereas Diavolo's advice, although well-intentioned, only worked to make her anxious and unsure again, bringing her back to square one.

Having consulted everyone she could think of, she sighed in defeat, flopping back down against her bed as her arm instinctually moved to cover her eyes. Groaning in exasperation for what felt like the millionth time this day, she shifted her arm away from her eyes to study the vines grown above her bed, trying to ease her nerves before she backs out.

Mc was startled from her thoughts by the sudden knock on her door followed by Asmo’s sing-song voice, “You’ve got this, Mc!”

She offered a thanks in appreciation before heaving a deep sigh.

Pushing herself up from her bed, and smoothing out her clothed she began to fret over her appearance. She wanted to make sure she was presentable before leaving the house, and possibly, maybe by miracle, coming out to Thirteen.

Once she ensured she looked decent, she recounted all the advice she’s gotten and left her room. As she passed the living room she glanced in and got a thumbs up from Belphie, whom was lounging lazily on the couch. Beel also gave an encouraging smile before returning to his snacking, quickly adjusting Belphie’s neck so he didn’t strain it after it had dropped uncomfortably into the arm of the couch.

“Good luck, Mc,” Satan offered offhandedly, enamored with a new book he’d picked up from the library, nose buried in it as soon as he entered the front doors.

Mc hummed quickly, offering him a swift “thanks” before she was out the door and heading towards Thirteen’s lodgings, the directions etched into her memory from the numerous times she’d been over. ‘This is just another outing with Thirteen… Except for the fact you’re about the confess - Nope. Not confessing. Simply coming out.’

Lost in her thoughts, she hadn’t realized that she’d arrived until she was at the front door, fist subconsciously raised to push the doorbell.

“Mc!” Thirteen called as she opened the door, signature smirk on her face.

“Oh! Hi,” Mc returned the smile, feeling her face bloom as she stepped into Thirteen’s house.

Thirteen swayed off into the kitchen as Mc made her way to her room. It was routine now to plop herself down onto Thirteen’s bed while she waited for the other to join her and plot traps for Solomon together. Except, this time she’d be dropping a bomb on her, and she only hoped it didn’t sour their friendship.

“Mc,” she jumped at her name being called, eyes landing on Thirteen standing in the door with a bowl in her arms, “you’re distracted, how are we supposed to prank Solomon like this? What’s on your mind?”

The tone of her voice easily gave away she wasn’t actually upset by her empty-headedness, but Mc was too lost in her own worries to recognize the concern lacing her words.

“Oh, uh-“ she swallowed thickly, grimacing at the knot in her throat, “it’s nothing, don’t worry. We’ll plan the most diabolical prank for Solomon yet!”

“Well, duh!” Thirteen drawled out using her free hand to exaggerate her words, “But I can’t have my prank partner being out of it, so what’s on your mind?”

She approached the bed and placed the bowl on the nightstand, hand on hip as she urged Mc to continue.

‘Damn. Should have known I couldn’t get past her intuition.’

“Well-“ she wets her lips and wrings her hands, nervously picking at the skin around her nails, “-I, uhm. Have something, ahem, to tell you.”

“Well? Out with it,” she urged Mc to continue, staring expectantly.

“I, well, I’m a lesbian. I like girls.” Mc finished quickly, feeling relief for having gotten it out before it was quickly replaced by dread.

“Is that it?” Thirteen quickly reiterated her words, “Sorry, that wasn’t what I was trying to say. Thank you for telling me, I guess I should tell you I am too.”

“You too?!” Mc shouted, nerves instantaneously dissipated at the revelation.

“Well, duh,” Thirteen joined Mc on the bed, crawling over her legs to get situated in her designated spot, “damn, Mc, I’m hurt that you didn’t know.”

Mc sighed and elbowed Thirteen, smiling at the lighthearted quips the two were able to comfortably exchange.

“Since the cat’s out of the bag,” Thirteen quickly adds on, halting Mc’s laughter, “I guess now I can say that I like you.”

Huh?

Mc stared, dumbfounded at Thirteen’s confession.

“I didn’t want to say anything ‘cause I figured you already had something with one of the others, but, you obviously don’t so, sucks to be them.” Thirteen smirked, studying Mc’s face.

“Huh???” Mc gaped, mouth opening and closing like a fish on land. “You- HUH??”

“Have I not been obvious? Really, Mc, I thought you knew me better,” Thirteen faked disappointment as she flopped backward onto her bed and dramatically held the back of her hand against her forehead. “Oh, woe! How can it be so?”

“I really wasn’t expecting you to like me, I guess?” Mc offered, unsure of what she was saying herself. Of course it made sense. Only, literally everyone else could see but her. “Okay, no... Oh, I don’t know.”

Thirteen pushed herself back into a sitting position to hold Mc’s gaze, her green eyes observing Mc’s expression. “That doesn’t matter now, what matters now is this: do you feel the same? Is this something we can pursue?”

“Yes!” Mc answered a little too quickly, slapping her hand over her mouth in embarrassment, “shit, sorry, I mean yes. I would like to pursue something with you.”

“That’s all I needed,” Thirteen’s eyes scanned Mc’s face before moving in as if to kiss her, the corner of her lips tugging upwards as she could hear Mc’s breath hitch.

Mc leaned in as well, eyes slipping closed nerves arising once more from anticipation of a kiss rather than unrequited feelings before it was all dashed as Thirteen swerved to place a kiss against her cheek instead of her lips.

“Aww were you expecting it on the lips?” Thirteen teased as she watched Mc fumble embarrassedly once more. ”How forward, at least take me yo dinner first.

Thirteen delicately weaved her hand together with Mc’s.

“Don’t be mean,” Mc leaned against Thirteen, resting on her shoulder as she squeezed her hand in acknowledgment, “I thought your pranks were reserved for Solomon, and I don’t remember changing my name.”

“You are his apprentice - willingly - so it’s only fair I get to tease you for it.” Mc scoffed at Thirteen’s answer, rolling her eyes even if it was unseen to her. “besides, you’re cute when you pout.”

“Ugh, no way you’re being corny?“ Mc teases back, dodging Thirteen’s flick to her forehead.

Im response to Mc’s quip, Thirteen swings her free arm over Mc’c chest and pulls her down with her so Mc was laying flat on her back with Thirteen propped up against her chest. Mc yelped at the sudden movement, not expecting Thirteen to drag her down. She made a motion to complain but was silenced when she heard Thirteen’s laughter fall from her lips, a sound Mc’s had the privilege to hear on numerous occasions on her outings with Thirteen, but now it sounded different, warmer. As Mc continued to admire her, she took in the way her hair cascaded perfectly over her shaking shoulders, and the way her green eyes shone with mirth as her laughter began to die down and her head now lay propped against Mc’s chest.

“Cat got your tongue?” Thirteen purred, stray chuckles sneaking past her words.

An unconscious compliment fell from Mc’s lips, “you’re beautiful.”

Thirteen was stunned temporarily but she managed to regain her composure just as quickly. Using her free hand, she maneuvered it to pinch Mc’s cheek, ”who’s the corny one now?”

Mc hummed in response, having no words to humour to Thirteen’s quip as she allowed a comfortable silence to drown out their bantering.

Using the position they were currently in to her advantage, Thirteen adjusted their intertwined hands and got comfortable laying against Mc’s chest, taking revelry in the silence and newfound partnership. As Thirteen got settled, Mc could feel her heart skip a beat, and she could only hope that she didn’t hear. (She most definitely did and would be teasing her later for it, oh well.)

After Mc’s nerves settled, she adjusted herself to get comfortable as well, molding herself to Thirteen and relaxing breathing in her scent and feeling a drowsiness slip over her.

They both lay embracing one another in the comfort of Thirteen’s bed, original plans abandoned in favor of an impromptu nap.

I was washing dishes and had a thought.

Spoilers past here if you haven't completed the story, so I'm only warning you once!

A lot of exchange Students who use Twitter are worried that the OG Obey Me game isn't going to be getting as much love once Nightbringer comes around.

After 3 or 4 years, you don't get any more birthday or anniversary calls, and we've been at Lesson 80 for darn near almost a year

They also had a line in the newspaper picture about making OM! Nightbringer even bigger and better than the OG, but that it's not stopping (I also noted that they didn't say the story would continue, just that it wasn't going anywhere. Their other apps didn't for a really long time)

What if they're gonna retcon everything in the OG?

The OM devs aren't shy about slyly retconning stuff to make the story work. Lucifer and Michael have changed what angels they are, Simeon has as well, and before the story was that when the boys fell--they met Diavolo's father. He gauged their power, gave them their order and titles.

Yet now, their sins have always been a part of them, but heavily suppressed in their angel days, and the devil king was already asleep underground when they came. According to Nightbringer, RAD didn't exist before the boys fell. But according to the Glory Days card for Lucifer, it did, and he went there on a tour once.

I suppose it could be explained away in, he didn't want to change out of his angel garb because he still considered himself an angel after the fall, being in denial, but then again, in the Lilith flashback he was aware and sad about it.

ANYWAY!

It really wouldn't surprise me if they decided to change MORE in Nightbringer to help the story fit. Or explained the changes that subtly happened like that in the OG was due to the events in Nightbringer.

What if they update from 81-90 or 100 and the last lesson is what sends MC to the past and erases their memory? Lesson 80 ends with MC talking to Solomon and him telling them to tell everyone hi for him before they zip back to the Devildom at will, having mastered teleport magic.

It sorta feels like a "and on and on it goes until the end of time" ending that some anime and manga take, leaving it up to interpretation, or it feels the start of a new season.

80-100 could be the events that lead up to MC meeting the mysterious figure that we see in some of the ads holding the clock. It'll also give us time to romance/get to know the new side characters: Mephistopheles, Raphel and Thirteen before the end.

I could easily see lesson 100 ending with "the story continues? In Obey Me! Nightbringer!"

Then we pick back up in OM! Nightbringer as both a sequel and a prequel and it totally changes everything?

A way to experience that first time feeling, but with characters we know and love because our interfering messes with the ending.

Kinda weird though, as OM was the first SWD game that broke away from their typical set up to Otome games.

I said before but I've played a LOT of Solmare games, and they usually went like this: a nondescript-ish (usually a thin, light skinned, brown haired) female would be thrown into a new situation, be helpless and depend on 1 of X amount of guys to defend her.

Depending on her choice, she could get a good, neutral or bad ending to THAT person's story. And each boys involvement with the story changed the ending of the overall tale. No ending was just a like.

I wonder if they're going back to that old model, in that we'll pair off with a boy and go down his route and experience the story in different ways, and getting different endings.

Plus it'll really feel weird with the rhythm gaming aspect, as far as I know, it's a first for Solmare. The rest of the games depended on chance, buying items and leveling up a doll version of your girl.

It used to really annoy me, because you'd need something like gems to get an ultra romantic version of a section of story disguised as a "choice". In it, you'd get super romantic lines and a beautiful picture to go with it, but without outright buying the needed gems or whatever they wanted, you had a snowballs chance in hell of seeing it.

Long ass rant bc i needed to spill into the void, dont mind me.

My otome game hottake if I've ever had one is that it should be kept as is honestly. Can't explain the happy-giddiness I felt when I downloaded some admittedly poorly done otome games on my phone in like 2013 and realizing they're intended for girls like me instead of boys for once. I've always thought of the genre as a girlie safe-Heaven and honestly believe part of girlhood is playing some silly small otome games and trying not to smile at ur screen. Obey Me changed it up a bit although I personally don't see it as an otome game, ik others who do, by making the Main Character Gender neutral and that was chill, cool cool cool, innovative. Recently with the release of a big game like Love and Deepspace for instance I've noticed a demand to make it have a Male Main character for example because guys wanted to play too and it kinda iffed me personally because women/girls/fem identifying people are the target audience for Otome games, it legit means Maiden Game. I don't know specific identifiers for them since I don't play them, I do know BL games exist, they're out there, and I see no reason for them to breach the otome genre. I mean, I've never personally felt entitled to be included in a genre of content not intended for me at all even if what it presented appealed to me, like i may see some character and think "Wow he is hot" and then find out he's from a BL game, my first thought wouldn't be "Yo can you make a female main character, even though you honestly dont have to because you are a game/category intended for MLM and not Het or Bi women/fems? Thanks, i will wait on that". It's probably nonsense or me being young and immature but I feel irritated at the suggestion of sharing a space that was super unavailable to me when I was a kid and even now with men or male identifying people when so much of content has and does aim at them, but nooo the girlie little romance games have to suddenly accommodate men too because they feel entitled to it. Why can't something just be for girls? I don't get it. I feel like men get to be willy nilly in their spaces and games not forced to accommodate nearly as often as anything meant for girls, whenever something is intended for a female audience, it doesn't get to just be for a female audience, that really annoys me. I keep seeing "But obey me" as an argument for inclusivity bur frankly as an user on TT put it, having such options is a privilege, not a must. Otome games don't have to present themselves to everyone unless they choose to give players the privilege of it, because they've had an intended audience from the start who consume it frequently. That and Obey me isn't an otome game in mine and others opinions, it's more akin to Twisted wonderland, a rhythm game of sorts, especially nightbringer. Yeah, rant over, I just needed to speak into the void. May be controversial, but I genuinely don't hate anyone, I just feel irked at the expectation that me and others have to always make room for more because we aren't enough of a player base somehow. I've seen guys on tik tok say stuff like "Can't men just be attracted to men?" I understand you can't help who you're attracted to, I'm Bi personally, but just because you're attracted to some character doesn't mean an entire standalone genre has to change because you demand it imo, I don't get the sense of entitlement that comes with making that demand, and saying stuff like "Male MC?/No male mc?:(/ why isn't there a male mc?" is pretty mind boggling like do you know which genre this is rn pook. Do you know what otome means. Sigh but like, why can't something just be for the ladies? Genuine question smh
