How you ended up in this strange hotel room in the heart of Shanghai, you couldn't remember. At least not at first.
Initially, all you could remember of the previous night was the flashing lights of the club you'd visited with a few of your girlfriends, downing a few drinks and shots and dancing.
As you started to wake, memories came flooding back. Memories of a tall, handsome stranger joining you at the bar, buying you a few drinks, and asking you to leave with him. The same man who was lying tangled in the sheets next to you in what you assumed was his hotel room.
You groaned as the headache of what was surely the start of a hangover set in and lay there with your eyes closed as you tried to remember exactly what had happened last night.
Tumblr media
"You look awfully lonely over here," a voice said suddenly, making you look up from your almost empty drink. A morning star and the only drink you ordered during this stretch of your trip.
Turning your head, you were met by a pair of dark brown eyes belonging to possibly the most handsome man you'd ever laid eyes on. You stared at him, longer than you intended, before finally speaking.
"Uh, sorry," you murmured, looking back down at the melting ice in your glass. The man smiled, amused by your reaction. "May I?" he asked, placing a hand on the back of the bar chair next to you.
You gestured towards the seat, silently telling him to have it.
He thanked you softly as he took a seat beside you, nodding at the bartender who quickly moved down the bar to take his order.
"I'll have a double whiskey, neat," he said, pulling a card from his wallet. You almost missed the way he turned to glance at you before looking back at the bartender.
"And a refill of whatever she's drinking."
You glanced up as the bartender nodded, taking the man's card to open a tab. You leaned forward to get a look at his face. "You don't have to do that," you said, aware of how annoyed you sound.
"I can pay for my own drinks."
The man smiled, not a smug smile, more of an amused yet kind smile before looking up to meet your gaze. "I'm sure you can but I'm also allowed to spend my money how I want, aren't I?" At this, he tilted his head, that same smile on his lips.
You nodded slowly and watched as he sat up straight, tapping his thumbs on the countertop to a beat only he seemed to be able to hear. After staring at him for a couple minutes, the bartender returned with the drinks, setting a short glass full of amber colored liquor before the man and a fresh glass in front of you.
You thanked the bartender, still staring at the man next to you as he raised his glass to take a sip of his drink. He chuckled to himself as he set his drink down. "You know," he started, turning his head to look you dead in the eye.
"Didn't your mother ever tell you that it's rude to stare?"
You felt the burn of embarrassment as you tore your gaze away, focusing instead on your drink. "Sorry," you murmured.
You took a sip of the fruity concoction, almost sighing as the coconut hit your palate. You were aware the man was still staring at you. 'Oh how the tables have turned.'
"So, do you follow your own advice or just tell others what to do?"
The man laughed, looking down at his drink. "You're right. I'm sorry," he apologized. "Very rude of me. I should practice what I preach." It was your turn to smile, biting back a laugh by taking another sip of your drink.
The two of you sat in a comfortable silence interrupted only by the music and deep bass of the club music. "So," you started, finally breaking the silence. "Do you have a name?"
The man smiled, leaning against the bar and turning his head to look at you. "I do," he said with a nod. You waited but he said nothing until he met your gaze.
"Oh, you wanted to know what it is?"
You narrowed your eyes at him. "I figured that would be obvious."
He chuckled again before offering his hand for you to shake. You took it hesitantly, glancing up to meet his gaze once more.
"Tao," he said, the same smile from before back. "You can call me Tao." You shook his hand before introducing yourself. "I'm Y/N."
Tao lifted his glass, taking another sip and setting it back down.
"It's nice to meet you, Y/N."
You didn't know what it was about Tao but talking to him seemed like the easiest thing in the world. While your friends were on the dance floor, drunkenly dancing with a few men your group had met a couple nights ago, you found yourself moving to an empty table to talk to Tao, telling him about your 3 month long vacation that was coming to an end.
Not only was he intriguing to listen to but he actually listened to you. He made a point of asking you lots of specific questions about the subjects you brought up.
It was not only refreshing to have someone actually listen to you, it was also incredibly attractive.
You were finishing up your third round of drinks when Tao seemingly made his move. He scooted closer, taking your drink and setting it on the table.
You were vaguely aware he was about to say something but you were distracted by his close proximity and the warmth radiating off his body.
"Look," he said softly. "I don't normally do this but I think you're incredible. Not only are you funny and adventurous but you're insanely gorgeous and I know I'd regret it if I didn't ask you if you'd like to leave with me."
Your heart hammered in your chest as he spoke, eyes darting between his eyes and his lips as he spoke. "If you don't, I won't be mad. I just know I need to shoot my shot before it's too late and-"
You cut him off with a quick kiss and pulled back, grinning triumphantly at the look of shock on his face. "I'd love to."
The ride from the club to his hotel was no more than 15 minutes but it felt longer as you could feel his eyes on you. It took everything in you not to straddle him in the back of the taxi.
That would have been embarrassing.
Instead, you were able to keep your composure until you reached his hotel room, waiting patiently as he unlocked the door with his keycard. Once inside, all grace and dignity were tossed aside as Tao grabbed you by the back of your neck, pulling you into a rough kiss.
You'd expected him to be a little timid at first, testing the waters but instead he dove right in. His lips moved against yours with fervor, devouring each moan and whimper as his hands expertly tugged at and removed your clothes, leaving you in your underwear.
Fingers skimmed over your skin as he guided you to the bed, sitting you on the edge before he shrugged his jacket off. Your back hit the mattress as Tao kissed slowly up the inside of your thigh.
Your head spun as he carefully and rather expertly removed your panties with his teeth. To say you were flabbergasted was an understatement. Tao merely smirked, letting the cobalt blue lace fall from his mouth and onto the carpeted floor.
You barely had time to register your lower half was completely bare before you felt his tongue lick a slow strip up your slit, finding your clit with deft precision. The moment he had a taste, his hands held your hips in place as he dug right in, licking, teasing, nipping at the sensitive bud.
Your cheeks burned at the obscene and lewd wet sounds that filled the room, audible only when you weren't moaning Tao's name and whimpering, begging him for more.
Your back arched off the sheets, a thin layer of sweat covering your skin as your orgasm ebbed away for what felt like the third time. Your eyes glistened with unshed tears of frustration as Tao pulled away, chin and lips coated in your essence.
You would have been annoyed had it not been for the fact that Tao was clearly an expert at what he was doing and not only that, he seemed to really enjoy it. If the groans and the way he seemingly lost himself in your taste was anything to go by.
You barely had time to catch your breath before you were being guided to scoot further onto the bed. Somewhere in the time between Tao letting your orgasm slip away to him hovering over you, he'd rid himself of his clothes.
Tattoos you never could have guessed he had covered both his biceps. You didn't have the chance to ask him about them as his lips met yours, tongue slipping past when you moaned, feeling the weight of his cock rest against your wet pussy.
Although you couldn't see it, judging by the weight, you guessed it was about as thick as your wrist, and you would be almost correct.
You whined impatiently as Tao made no effort to move, to enter you properly.
Instead he savored your reactions, trying to move your hips enough to find friction. Your weak attempts to entice him. Though you didn't need to. He was more than willing and able.
Without word or warning, he guided the head of his cock to your sopping entrance and slowly pushed into you. You sucked in a sharp breath, trying not to gasp as the girth slowly stretched your walls, threatening to split you open.
"Oh fuck," you whined. You felt one of Tao's hands grab the back of your thigh, pushing your leg against your stomach and allowing him to sink deeper, faster. You'd never felt anything so deep before.
You let out a shaky moan as he bottomed out and only then did he say anything. "Holy shit. You're so fucking tight," he groaned, head dropping as he lost himself in the feeling of your warm walls enveloping him.
"Tao please," you whined. You didn't have another chance to speak as he complied to your unasked request, pulling out partly and snapping his hips forward. You let out a mix between a gasp and a yelp, surprised by the sheer force.
"Shit, I'm sorry," he almost cooed. "You okay, baby"
The nickname had you melting under him with a moan.
"Y-yes," you whimpered.
Satisfied he hadn't hurt you, Tao set a steady pace, one hand keeping your thigh in place while the other disappeared under the pillow under your head, using his forearm to keep himself from collapsing onto you.
"Fuck, you feel so goddamn good," you heard him groan, hips slamming into you repeatedly, punctuating his next sentence.
"So. Fucking. Good."
Each thrust had you seeing stars, incoherent moans of his name and curses tumbling from your lips as your mind tried to keep up but the only thought occupying your brain was how good his cock felt and how big it was.
"So big," you managed to whimper. Tao chuckled lightly, breath fanning over your cheek as he lowered himself closer to whisper in your ear. "Yeah? You like how my big cock feels in your tight little pussy?"
If you weren't an incoherent mess before, you certainly were now.
"You like how it feels? You like being stuffed full?"
You nodded quickly, unable to answer him. "Oh, such a good little girl, aren't you?" You cried out as he gave you a particularly harsh thrust.
"Taking all of it, just like good girls do," he continued, not missing the way your cunt convulsed around his cock. You were so easy for him to read. Like an open book.
Letting go of your thigh, his hand moved, fingers closing around your throat lightly. The simple action had your already cloudy brain emptying completely as you let yourself succumb to the first wave of your orgasm.
An intense pleasure, unlike any you'd ever felt before crashed over you, stars blinding your vision, heat spreading from your core throughout your body and down into your fingers and toes as they curled in pure ecstasy. Wanton moans and a slew of curses left your lips, Tao's name thrown into the mix.
Unaware Tao was watching you with a deep fascination, you let out a desperate whine, thighs encasing his waist as he helped you ride out your high. "That's it sweetheart," he all but whispered, his pace not slowing for a second.
"That's my good girl."
Your heart pounded in your chest, stomach doing flips at his subtle praise. "You're doing so well," you heard him say, his voice sounding so distant. Like he was far away.
As the aftershocks of your climax subsided and you started to focus on your surroundings, you felt Tao's hand on your neck move, gently cupping your cheek, thumb stroking your skin. "Hey," he whispered. You blinked a couple times as his face came into focus.
"There you are," he said with a chuckle. "Lost you for a second."
"W-what happened?"
"You must have passed out," he answered, looking mildly concerned. "Are you okay?"
You nodded, blinking as you looked around. "How long was I out?"
"Not long," he replied. "A good ten seconds though." At this, he smirked, looking particularly smug. "What?" you whined.
"Dick so good it'll make you pass out?" he asked. "Maybe I should add that to my portfolio." You rolled your eyes, ignoring his snickers. You tried to sit up but realized you weren't quite done.
"Are you still inside me?" you asked incredulously, making Tao laugh again. "You were only out for ten seconds at most, sugar," he answered. "Do you want to stop?" he asked, suddenly serious.
You shook your head quickly. Tao leaned in, pressing a chaste kiss to your lips. "Then lay back down," he ordered. You did as he instructed, whimpering once as he gave you a couple of cautious thrusts before throwing himself back into it.
"Ah, shit!" you cursed, grabbing his forearm, worrying your bottom lip between your teeth. Tao took your chin firmly in his hand, leaning over you. "Open," he instructed. You hesitated, unsure of what he was going to do. "Open your mouth."
You did as he demanded, parting your lips. Tao leaned over further, spitting into your mouth before taking you into a searing kiss. Your walls clenched around him as your second climax approached rapidly.
Another deep thrust had you tumbling over the edge as you came a second time, a cry of Tao's name leaving your mouth.
As he helped you ride out your second orgasm, Tao's hips stuttered, his own orgasm impending. "Oh fuck," he groaned. "M'gonna cum."
"Do it," you mewled. "Cum inside me." Tao let out a breathy laugh. "Is that what you want, princess? Want me to cum inside this pretty little pussy and make it mine?"
You moaned in response, back arching of the bed.
"Is that what you want, baby?"
You weren't sure what drove you to say it but your response had an immediately profound reaction on him.
"Y-yes daddy!"
Tao dropped his head again, letting out an almost animalistic growl as his hips rammed against yours, pounding into you with renewed vigor. Each thrust had you nearly screaming.
Not wanting to risk complaining neighbors, Tao covered your mouth, muffling your cries. "Almost there, baby girl, almost there."
He offered hushed words of encouragement until the fluttering of your walls around his cock pushed Tao over the edge and he came with a low, husky moan, riding out his orgasm until his hips finally came to a halt as he stilled inside your cunt that was now full of not only his cock but also his cum.
Coming down from your respective highs, Tao was finally able to pull out of you and fall onto the bed beside you. You were well aware of his release spilling out of your abused hole but were far too tired to do anything about it.
Tao however did not hesitate to get up, grabbing his boxers from the floor as he disappeared into the bathroom only to return moments later with a wet warm washcloth. You started to drift off as he carefully wiped your skin clean until you felt him get off the bed and pad away.
Moments later, you felt the bed dip as he returned. The sheets rustled as he untucked them, pulling them back and carefully helping you under them.
The last thing you remembered was him turning the bedside lamp off before wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you close and then it all went black.
Tumblr media
Sitting up in a now illuminated hotel room, you were able to catch a glimpse of Tao, sleeping peacefully beside you. His hair was tousled, face half buried into his pillow. The covers were bunched up about halfway down his back, allowing you to see the tattoos that covered his biceps again in the light.
Deciding the best course of action was to gather your things, you slowly untangled yourself from the sheets and was about to scoot to the edge of the bed when a voice rang out. Albeit, a very sleepy one.
"Just where do you think you're going, little one?"
You turned to find Tao was not asleep and was now looking at you with his only visible eye. You knew you'd been busted but decided to play it off. "I thought I'd take a shower," you answered.
Tao raised his head to look at you properly. "Really?"
You nodded, looking down at him. He shrugged and rolled onto his back, reaching to grab his phone and check the time. "I'll call for breakfast," he announced as you got up from the bed and hurried into the bathroom.
Deciding a shower might actually be a good idea, you did just that, standing under the scalding water as you shampooed and conditioned your hair, scrubbed your body and washed away the remnants of last night's makeup.
Once you finished and got out, you were checking your appearance in the bathroom mirror when the door opened and Tao poked his head in. "Breakfast is here," he said before he opened the door further. "And I got you this."
In his hand he held a fluffy white robe. You took it, thanking him and he shut the door behind him, leaving you to change out of the towel and into the robe to save your dignity.
In the room, he'd already donned some sweatpants and a plain black tee and was looking over the food that had been delivered.
You hadn't gotten a good look at the room the previous night but could now make out that it was a king suite with an incredible view of downtown Shanghai. You were probably on the 30th floor at least. Tao had just finished setting the small table by the window when you entered the room.
He glanced up and gave you a grin. "I wasn't sure what you like so I got a bit of everything," he explained as you walked over.
"That's really nice of you. Thank you." You moved to sit across from him and quickly helped you with your chair. "It's the least I could do." He gave you another smile as he sat across from you. The two of you ate in relative silence until you came to your senses.
"Oh my god," you exclaimed, making Tao jump in surprise at your sudden outburst. "My friends are gonna kill me!" Tao swallowed his food before speaking. "Hey, calm down it's okay-"
"No it's not! They have no idea where I am! Or if I'm even alive!"
You got up quickly and started to search around the room. Tao watched from his seat at the table. "What are you looking for?" he asked. "My phone!" you exclaimed as you continued to search.
"It's plugged in on your side of the bed, will you please come back to breakfast?"
Tao didn't sound annoyed, just reassuring you that it was all okay.
"I need to call them."
Tao swallowed another bite of food before responding. "They already called."
You rounded on him. "What?"
He nodded, assuring you it was the truth. "They called earlier. I answered and let them know you were perfectly safe and sound and that you were sleeping," he explained. "I sent them a photo of you asleep, sorry for that, and then explained where we were and what happened."
Your heart sank. "Did you tell them… everything?"
Tao smiled again, getting up and crossing the room to your side. "No, not everything. Just the basics. I'm sure they filled in the blanks themselves," he said as he gently took your phone from your hands and set it back down before taking your hand and leading you back to the table.
The two of you continued to eat until Tao spoke up.
"I know this might be a little forward," he started, capturing your attention. "But I was wondering if you might indulge me."
You set your utensils down, offering him your undivided attention.
"I told you last night that I don't normally hook up with anyone. At least, not someone I met in a nightclub," he continued, glancing up at you and meeting your gaze. "But you? You're different."
You tilted your head to the side, giving him a puzzled look.
"Different how?"
Tao leaned forward, resting his chin in his palm as he studied you.
"You're so different from anyone I've ever talked to. I've never met someone like you," he answered. "I was wondering," he hesitated before shaking his head. "No, I was hoping that you might consider staying in Shanghai for just a bit longer."
Your eyes widened as the implications of his words set in.
'Stay in Shanghai?'
"I'm not sure I could afford that," you said softly, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth. Tao's smile didn't diminish. "You wouldn't have to spend anything," he replied. "I was thinking you could keep me company."
"K-keep you company?" Now you were properly confused. Tao nodded. "Yeah. You know how in Pretty Woman, the guy asks her to spend the week with him and pays her a lot of money to pretend to be his girlfriend while he's on business?"
You nodded slowly. "Well, the only differences are that I'm not paying you to sleep with me or be my girlfriend," he explained so nonchalantly. "I just want to spend some time with you. If you aren't comfortable sharing a hotel room with me, I can put you up in your own room."
You looked at his face, looking for any sign of deceit or dishonesty but found only curiosity looking back at you. "Can I think about it?" you finally asked.
Tao smiled and got up, crossing around the table to where you sat. He combed his fingers through your hair before gently taking your chin in his hand, tilting your head back to look up.
"I'm going to take a shower. So think about it while I'm gone. If you want to stay, I'll send someone to pick up your belongings from wherever you're staying. If not, I'll take you back myself."
Before you had a chance to respond, Tao pressed a short kiss to your lips and quickly crossed the suite to the bathroom.
While he was gone, you cleaned up the table and returned to the bed, flipping on the television set while the shower turned on. You scrolled through the channels, finally settling on some soap opera. While watching, you went through your phone and saw that Tao had indeed explained through text to your friends where you were as well as including a picture and a short clip of you sleeping.
You decided to check in with your friends, to let them know you were alright. Their responses ranged from angry to relieved.
Bai🪷: omg I'm so glad ur okay 😭

Bai🪷: and I still vote yes
Gwen🕷🕸: 😡
Bai🪷: so it looks like the final decisions up to you, y/n
Before you could respond, the bathroom door opened and Tao appeared in the same clothes he'd worn into the bathroom. He had a towel in his hand and was currently drying his hair. He made eye contact with you as you set your phone on the bedside table and smiled, walking over and sitting on the edge of the bed.
"I think drying my hair is my least favorite part of showering," he said with a chuckle. You smiled in return and waited for him to speak.
"So, have you had time to think about my offer?"
You nodded, pulling your bottom lip between your teeth as you studied Tao's body language. He nodded carefully before looking back up, meeting your gaze.
"So, what's your answer going to be?"

you should have known better than to trust liyue.
a rock hits your shoulder, kicked down from the ledge behind you, and the abyss mage in front of you shouts a cry lost amidst the hilichurls’-
“YA!“
clubs are grabbed and shields are raised, the electro shooter taking your wrist roughly and pulling you away. you hear human voices behind you, calls to get them! and that’s the missing artifact! nearly drowned under your heartbeat in your ears. the electro hilichurl pushes you behind the grenadier before grabbing its crossbow, hastily beginning to load it. in the camp, you can see an archer up on the stone ledge—the same one you entered from—as well as four other millelith guards in the camp itself. an electro-infused bolt skims the cheek of one, a spear narrowly blocking the swing of a club, two have to ditch their weapons and roll to dodge to mitachurl’s charge-
the grenadier’s calloused hands pull you out of the way of an arrow, one that lands in the sand and quivers with force. the hilichurl pushes you away, waving its hands for you to run.
if you’d have paid more attention to the fight, you’d have noticed the hilichurls were fighting defensively to give you time.
you turn on worn, hole-ridden shoes, doing your best to take in air as you run down the path. this area of liyue is sparse, with no weaving pathways to hide in or trees to cover you. there’s nothing for the earth to shelter you with, and other than bringing more dust into the air around the archer, it’s just as helpless as you are.
there’s a building set besides a crack in the huge wall besides the path, a fork approaching quicker than you’d like. the path continues forward, toward trees, but it’s a long way to the small forest..
you turn. an arrow bounces off the stone just behind you as you do.
immediately you recognize your mistake, spotting first spiked walls, then rippling red banners, then the archer towers they’re attached to and the guards climbing down the ladders on them.
the crack you saw seems to open into a larger area, with trees you’ve never seen before, so you take the risk that the millelith can’t climb all that quickly with their armor and keep running. it’s not like you would have survived turning back anyways; they’re the ones with the archer towers.
a guard makes it to the ground just as you pass, throwing aside his spear and running after you. an arm loops around your waist, then another over your arms as you fall.
the weight of the guard on top of you knocks out the air from your lungs, leaving you dazed. he quickly gets off and pulls at the arm with the ring on it as you desperately try not to breathe in dirt.
you fuss, trying first to close your hand into a fist then hitting at his with your other. it works, the ring falling to the dirt, and though you try to follow it with your eyes you quickly lose it in the light of the sun.
the guard starts to wipe desperately at the dirt and you take the opportunity to run into the crack, pulling a random bundle of things you hope are medical supplies off a nearby cart as you do. the guards shout at you, but you keep running, taking a set of confusing turns before coming across a small campsite. there are tents and rudimentary walls, but you decide to shove yourself into the space between a stack of crates and a wall, holding your breath.
footsteps thunder by, slowing to a stop not too far from where you’re hidden. you clutch at and attempt to cover the white in your arms, turning it towards the wall as far as you can without moving the crates. you don’t dare move to peek between the boxes, simply sitting in your little corner and hoping beyond reason that they won’t think to search in the most obvious area.
“what?”
“where’d they go?”
“find them!”
your heart thuds in your chest and you have to fight to keep your breathing quiet, pressing yourself further against the wall as the guards search the small camp.
the floor tips and spins beneath you, the world blurry and hazed from dehydration and exhaustion, but you stay hidden as boots stomp by again, listening to the irritated words from one of the guards as they pass.
“we must report this to the qixing.”
Tumblr media
zhongli walks through liyue harbor, one hand holding a folder and the other one clenched in a fist. he can feel the stares of people as he passes, the new whispers on their tongues, and he sets his jaw, picking up the pace.
he’s used to the stares. people pointed him out as odd, eccentric, the funeral consultant that everybody knew yet didn’t know why, or where he was from. the stranger that somehow knew alarming amounts of liyuen history, the new worker at the parlor who puts up with the director, the one with a vision from liyue yet seems adept at using it nonetheless.
stares are regular, until they’re not.
the empty space on his lower back where his faux-vision once was affects him more than it should. maybe because it feels like a real one, now, since he hasn’t been able to manipulate geo ever since it turned against him. the lack of pressure, the missing weight of glass and gold, no matter how papery the front it put up, bothered him. it wasn’t real in any sense, it was utterly worthless, it didn’t glow or have any connection at all, and yet.. it still refused to obey him. touching it felt like he was cutting his palm open over and over despite the lack of physical injuries, and when he tried to have hu tao reattach it to (a new) chain, it only stabbed at him through his clothes.
it was fake. it shouldn’t be possible.
but he couldn’t tell anybody of his plight.
nodding a greeting at the blacksmith, he continued his journey across the harbor.
“-consultant for-?”
“-where’s his-?“
“-did his vision-?”
questions flew in the space between people, gossip lighting the way between lampposts. he knew they were watching. he didn’t know why it unnerved him so much.
zhongli kept walking.
two millelith guards are standing duty near the bridge, and he listens in on their conversation as he passes.
“-hear any updates on the situation?”
“no, only that they’ve gotten to the chasm. it’s to dangerous for the qixing to send-..”
hm..
he files the information away.
zhongli openes the door to the parlor, nodding in greeting at ferrylady. perhaps he should pay the chasm a visit on the chance that the guards were speaking of what he hoped they were.
you wouldn’t be too much of a challenge—he is still, after all, morax, the god of war and contracts. he’d signed on the dotted line when he took his first breath, signed to be the warrior of his god and to stand by their side for as long as he lived. it was a deal he could easily uphold, and one he’s not going to fail.
he’s served his god all his life, and he refuses to allow such disgrace to befall their name.
perhaps if he’s lucky, he’ll be the one allowed to slay you…
he shakes the thoughts of bloodshed from his mind, knocking twice on a door marked ‘director’. when he hears permission to enter, he wastes no time in pushing it open.
hu tao’s eyes brighten when she see’s it’s him, the pen in her hand twirling around her fingers in her excitement. “zhongli! you’re back quickly.”
he nods, stepping forward to hand her the folder. “the negotiations went easier than anticipated.”
her eyes suddenly narrow, hee hand retracting from the folder. “did you say what i told you to?”
“yes, director, i kept the price within the range you specified. i was simply commenting on the simplicity of the transaction; who knew it was so easy to-“
the air shifts, a presence materializing from a cloud of black and teal smoke at zhongli’s side. hu tao yelps, her chair skidding backward.
xiao catches the pen she throws at him with ease.
zhongli pulls it from his hand, the director having finally registered what happened.
“wha- who- you? y- you can’t just appear in my office like that!”
xiao paid her no mind, turning to zhongli and bowing, the latter easily dismissing the action.
“what news do you have?”
“i have scoured all of liyue and have yet to find a trace. in addition, b-… venti has not felt their presence upon the wind, and considering the tightening of security around the harbor thanks to the millelith, i can only assume they have either gone to sumeru through nantianmen or lumberpick valley, or they are in the chasm.”
the words of the millelith from earlier echoed in zhongli’s mind, a plan swiftly forming.
“i see. thank you, xiao. i will leave at once.”
with a nod, the adeptus vanishes back into a cloud of smoke.
“zhongli? who was that? and where are you going? who were you talking about?”
zhongli set the folder on her desk, the pen placed on top. “all in due time, ms. hu. until then, i’m afraid i must depart.”
“you can’t-“
“i promise that appropriate compensation for my leaving early will be arranged, and we may speak on the topic when i return.”
“‘li-“
“goodbye, director.”
black and gold fabric twisted around him as he turned, the empty chain across his back glinting in the light of the office. while he had some regret about leaving so harshly—he’d surely receive a rant about reliance when he returned—it was quickly drowned under his determination.
his god was calling, and all he’d ever wished for was to answer.
Tumblr media
you stumble into a tunnel next to a blue waypoint, walking in as far as you can manage before crumbling to the floor. you have to go. to hide. you don’t know how many ‘lives’ you have left, and you’re not keen on finding out, not with the qixing on your tail.
you drag yourself next to a shining chunk of cor lapis, gritting your teeth at the pain.
how did it come to this?
to running from the millelith, hiding in the chasm of all places?
you breathe heavily as you sit against the wall, the sudden shift from relaxation to running for your life taking a toll. you put your hands on the floor to shuffle further against the wall only to wince, moving your palm to see what sharp rock you’d landed on.
except it wasn’t a rock. the ring, the one the dendro slime gave you, is sitting peacefully on top of the dirt like it belongs there. still clean, still shining, the gem without a scratch you can see as you lift it up. the tunnel is only lit by sun streaming in from around the corner, and though it makes it hard to see imperfections on the gold, the light only highlights the wear on your figure. your clothes are tattered and worn, reduced to scraps, that ring the only thing of passable quality. how ironic, that the thing in best condition was the one you never should have taken—where would hilichurls even get them? did you think about it at all?—and the one that almost got you killed.
again.
you couldn’t hold it against the millelith, really. you didn’t know where it came from or why. it didn’t look ancient to you, the gold still glimmering in the faint light, and the gem wasn’t large enough to be of any importance, but maybe it was. maybe it was some artifact that was really rare or highly sought after. maybe it was the dropped ring of some important ruler. maybe it was the wedding band of one of the workers here.
maybe you were just making excuses because you couldn’t find it in yourself to hate them.
..wow, this is kinda pathetic.
you do your best to wrap your wounds with the bandages you swiped, mumbling a quick thank you that they were bandages, no matter how covered in dust from your journey. between your shaky hands and the severity of the wounds, though, you don’t know if you’re actually doing anything of benefit. not to mention you’re still lying on the floor, in a dusty tunnel in the chasm.
dirt and rocks dig into your skin and wounds, scabs breaking as you curl up further, too caught up in your pain to hear the footsteps approaching you.
or maybe you do hear them, and simply don’t care.
you never had the highest level of self-preservation.
Tumblr media
zhongli has lived for eons.
he’s seen it all.
nothing surprises him anymore.
….nothing should.
but as he approaches the tunnel the millelith had told him of, as he walks and hears hitched breathing and choked words….
his knuckles are white around his polearm.
he turns the corner, stepping around a wooden support. dust stains the air as if trying to hide you from his view, but can still see. torn clothes, your hands wrapped in dirty bandages that are more likely to get them infected than protect, and you’re… you’re crying.
as he watches, you look up, matted hair falling into your face. you’re sitting next to a chunk of cor lapis, the ore looking like it’s glowing brighter than normal. in the golden light, he sees the tear tracks streak through the dirt on your face, and something like pity twinges in his chest.
something like a laugh leaves your cracked lips.
“morax…”
you knew?
you knew him?
how?
his posture tensed, but you only sat up straighter, leaning on the wall behind you. it was hard to tell if that was blood on the floor or just shadows cast by the ore nearby, but you were obviously weak.
you licked your lips. why hadn’t he moved yet?
“i don’t mind dying, you know. not if it’s you.”
you sounded weak, voice hoarse and painful, like your throat was lined with glass.
and yet… him?
why?
how did you even know him?
surely… surely you weren’t the same person as before, in wuwang hill, right? you weren’t the one who looked up at him with eyes that glittered not with tears but with admiration, your gaze sweeping over his face with such emotion. you weren’t the one that, even as he pointed his spear at your heart, dared to whisper a compliment?
…what did it matter? you… you deserved to be slain. he couldn’t be swayed simply because you looked like his god.
his hand almost didn’t want to obey as he leveled his polearm at your neck, noting the exhaustion with which you relaxed further into the stone. your eyes fluttered shut, your hand landing closer to the light of the ore. he could see a ring on one of your fingers: gold, archaic, likely stolen from a ruin nearby. how pitiful that an artifact would be ruined by you.
the golden point of his blade leveled against your skin, seeming to buzz with excitement in his hand.
he should make it quick.
in his hesitance, you spoke. “you want last words?”
to ask somebody on death row for the worst of crimes for last words would probably be itself a crime elsewhere. giving you the opportunity to take advantage of him while he was vulnerable—though he doubted you had the strength for that…
a small smile crossed your face.
he swallowed. his hand wavered.
“if you wish.”
why did you seem so familiar?
he was starting to shake.
it didn’t matter that you looked like his god. you were the imposter, you were the fake, but being here with you…
why was he hesitating?
this was a sin against his god, to allow such a devil to walk his nation. and to dare to feel sympathy for such a-
“i don’t mind if i die.”
but your voice-
you spoke so softly with his weapon pointed at your throat, every bob of your skin threatening to tear itself across its edge. and yet, you continued, leaving him no choice but to believe your statement.
“i don’t know why you want to kill me, but i don’t. really.”
in the golden light of the lapis and whatever extra was coming around the corner, your skin broke.
what were you saying?
why couldn’t he listen?
he was entranced by the bead of blood, almost shimmering in the light, rolling down your neck.
he had to kill you.
he had to.
why didn’t he want to?
“it’s a good day to die.”
that was a lie, the skies were gray and threatened rain, the earth itself irritated and rumbling with an anger you couldn’t sense. the only reason you said that was because you didn’t know.
he found himself believing it anyway.
“kill me, morax.” the way you said his name- “i’m… i’m sure your god would be proud.”
what did you know of his god?
in the instant anger overcame him, he pressed vortex vanquisher forward, pushing until he hit stone. you flinched, blood rolling down his weapon and falling into your lap in waves. to his surprise, it didn’t stain the blade dark with crimson, instead…
no.
he told himself it was the light.
no.
your eyes fluttered, struggling, and he compared the shade of the ring on your finger to the one on his weapon. even in the tinted lighting, they looked the same.
no.
it was impossible.
even as he tore his weapon away, a futile attempt to undo his actions, he knew it was impossible.
“kill me, morax.”
and he had, he had, and now he wanted nothing more than to take it back, dirt staining his knees as gloved hands fluttered over the wound as if it would magically stick back together.
“i’m sure your god would be proud.”

Hiii! Can I pretty please req Kokomi, Noelle, Ayaka and Hu Tao with an affectionate reader?
⟢ care to be mine? oh you already are?! ft. noelle, kokomi, ayaka, & hutao! ・sypnosis. how about we go out together, and you'll be mine, and i'll be yours! oh i already know we're together, i like falling in love with you over and over again! ・notes. WOOOO GENSHIN WOMEN!!! im so happy to see this request ngl nsjsdsdsd, anyw thanks for giving me this req!!! ・warnings. fluffy, overly affectionate reader if that counts, implied relationship between character & reader
Tumblr media
THE 77TH FUNERAL DIRECTOR: HU TAO ・YEAHHH SOMEONE MATCHES HER ENERGY!!! definitely whenever she sees you while going on a stroll around town, will open her arms for you to run into to her while tryna hug her back, if you would she loves to give piggyback rides to you too. loves you so much, and so does she!! probably would also run around town in both your free time to prank people, and every successful prank would be one kiss, from the one and only you!! she wants you to be there to see it too!!
・accepts your affection with wide arms, even with you draped around her shoulders, your head resting on hers while she does work is her favorite!! kinda makes her know she's safe, because you're there with her. just know your boundaries, and when is the right time and she'll do the same, loves every bit of your affection, lets her know that at least someone enjoys her little pranks hehe. her being in your warmth is enough to make a bad day go well. you being there to cheer her on is enough to make her face light up, at first the affection was so unexpected, but she was so up for the idea. doesn't care if other people see you and her do all that pda stuff, just lets everyone know your affection is hers. ・probably adopts a cat that you've been feeding everyday near your shared home, absolutey loves it with you, like parents to the cat. names it her favorite dish. always notices when your mood changes to something a bit negative, and that's a go signal for her to be overly affectionate this time!! loves making you smile, then loves it when you hug her in return. kiss her forehead whenever you guys cuddle!! definitely loves it, would try to hide her face away from you so that you wouldn't see the millions of shades in red covering her face. ・probably loves words of affirmation, and acts of service, getting told she's annoying for her pranks isn't exactly a good feeling. but the things you do for her, and the things you do to her, all the praise you give while she's done nothing to deserve it, all the hugs, kisses, and love you give, and she still feels like she has to do more, but assure her that she shouldn't because all you want is her, she'll fall 100% ・the way you got introduced to zhongli was you chasing hu tao around for a kiss probably. then you bump into him, and hu tao comes running at you both, again. and introduces you both, and zhongli is slightly surprised she has a significant other, but is like a proud dad. while you both are rambling to each other like a lovey dovey couple, and he third wheels, he thinks you both fit each other like a jigsaw puzzle, because there should always be someone to love you, even if the rest of the world hates you.
probably would make fun of you whenever you say something cheesy, "for all that it's worth, i'm glad i met you." you'd say while looking up to the setting sun in the distance, "no you aren't." she teases, looking back at you, smiling, "yeah, you're right, i have dreams of you stapling your fingers to your face." "ew!! stop saying that!!"
Tumblr media
THE DIVINE PRIESTESS: SANGONOMIYA KOKOMI ・dream come true to her, probably liked you as soon as you both met, probably sun and moon relationship. she's a bit of both, but she likes it better when you do all the talking, and she does the listening. after somewhat a long period of time that kokomi's been gone, obviously you'd miss her, and she'd miss you. but whenever those long missions finally finish, she loves the feeling when as soon ass you see her, you come running with your arms open just to hug her ・loves mostly anything and everything about you / anything you're willing to give, aka your affection. probably loves whenever you become cheesy with her, makes her flustered.
"Hey I have a day off tomorrow, wanna do anything special?" Kokomi asks, getting up her chair to face you with a bright smile painted on her face, "I just wanna be in your arms, in your presence, anywhere you go, I just wanna be with you." You said, noticing the small tint of rose on her cheeks, "Well, anywhere is alright, just make sure you enjoy yourself there. Your happiness is mine." The eye contact between the both of you, the grin spread across from ear to ear on your face, made her really flustered, "O-okay! I have to go get something really quick, so just wait here and we can talk about where we'll go!" Walking out the room, Kokomi put her head in her hands, she definitely knows you'll treat her right
・whenever she's down, whenever she's failed in something, whenever she feels like she isn't worth anything, and you aren't with her, her mind wanders to all those memories of your smile, and imagines your warm embrace around her, because she knows you mean every word you say, whenever you compliment her, she knows she's at least worth something to someone, always wants to keep you close after those moments. ・matching clothes with her!! like her whole wardrobe got to be matching with yours. loves it whenever you remember the little things about her, like her favorite dish, or what kind of movies she prefers, her spotify playlist on save, or even the flowers she prefers. overthinks a bunch, the question of you both never meeting always comes to mind, but you were a friend of gorou's that just happened to be able to help with a certain mission. ・surprise date nights for those days she's off, but has got off those depressing shifts at work, and the impossible amount of paperwork really just set her off, she wasn't as happy as she was before,
"How about you just follow me okay?" her hand in yours, running towards somewhere, "Okay, but why did you make me dress up?!" her screaming from behind as you led her out to a small table with 2 chairs, decorated with white lilies, kind of like a little cottage in the wild, where no one else would disturb you both. her favorite food set out on the table, along with your own favorite, "Alright, you can open your eyes!" As you let go of her hand, the light reflected off her skin, the vine-decorated ivy cottage right before her eyes, a hopeful gaze looks back to you, "is this.. for me?"
・thanks gorou so many times for introducing the sunshine in her life to help brighten her mood. and thanks the archons that she met such ethereal beauty, and kindness in person in her life, every night, she looks up, and closes her eyes, thanking the people who got her here today, and praises the archons for letting her meet you.
Tumblr media
SHIRASAGI HIMEGIMI: KAMISATO AYAKA ・first found you running around with yoimiya plus some children. lighting those little fireworks on a stick at night, and carrying them home once they've fallen asleep, their parents are just real busy people, you and yoimiya had decided to babysit while they were out, for free, and no pay. ayaka was free that day, and made the best decision of wanting to hangout with yoimiya, and to get to know who this wildly attractive person is. ・finds out your name while you blurt lots of stuff out while talking to yoimiya, walking through inazuma with ayaka between you and yoi, looking at what's new, and what you can afford. and what really made her fall is when you asked if she wanted anything, clearly looking hungry, and her answering that she's fine and she doesn't really know what she wanted to order if she was, and you ordered all kinds of dishes and let her try, thought you were really nice about it, especially how you were a little short on money, yet you were more than willing to spend every last dime on her, even if you both just met. ・once you both finally date, yoimiya is more than welcome to be your guys' third wheel on dates, in fact always has been even before you both got together.
"You know, before I asked you out, I asked Ayato & Yoimiya's permission." You said holding her hand and grinning at her, "She did! Was very happy to say yes!!" Yoimiya interrupted, hugging both of you from behind, "And I promised to always be your third wheel when I could!" Laughing your hearts off, Ayaka loved seeing you smile, it made her smile too.
・"You're gonna get hurt!" x "At least I'll have fun!" definitely, kiss attacks on her face once she comes back from somewhere, doesn't do a lot of pda though, will keep your relationship a secret 'till she's ready, she still has a reputation to keep yk? she doesn't mean that in a bad way or anything she just wants to keep you safe, letting enemies know you're her weak spot. doesn't want anything happening to the best thing in her life. ・"you're all i ever want" x "flustered*" purely, lowkey scared of how much affection you give her, it makes her super happy, but scared, scared to accept it, she hasn't opened her heart up to anyone before, but you were very willing to give everything to her, right after meeting her. the way you remember those little details about her make her blush hard. even the first day you met, the meals she liked, anything and everything you mostly knew about her, and she would she could do the same, obviously the standard things about you she remembers, even the little grin you do when you get her blushy with one cheesy pickup line, but all the little details you've observed from just being with her for a short period of time makes her even more thankful to the archons, every night, every day, whenever she can she'll be with you, she'll be in the embrace of you arms.
Tumblr media
THE MAID OF THE KNIGHTS OF FAVONIUS: NOELLE ・the sweetest at trying to confess her feelings to you. catches them while you were helping lisa with the books in the library, right after taking them back from late clients. she was skimming through books on how to get stronger, and her eyes wandering off the book, looking up to see the most beautiful person to ever set earth, while watching you turn around to reveal your most luxurious face, to see you both made a bit of eye contact, she ducks down behind her book again. ・once you finally go, she'll come up to lisa with all the books in her hands,
"hey ms. lisa? can i ask who that was?" noelle turns a bit shyly, while slamming the books back on the desk owned by lisa. "oh? are you saying you're interested in them?" lisa smirks, and putting the books below her rounded desk again, "i- no i mean-! that isn't what i meant! i just wanted to... get to know their name, they seem interesting! that's all!" stuttering all over the place, tint of ruby all over her face. "their name is y/n. they live pretty close to here, and in the library often, they help me and jean quite recently, and they've helped a lot, they thought you were pretty cute too, you know." lisa said, getting up and giving noelle her library pass back, sliding it across the desk, "t-thank you.." taking it back, and getting out of the library as fast as she could, at least she knew your name now.
・probably take shifts near your home while patrolling around mondstadt. one time, and the time she finally found out her feeling for you were romantic; she was lowkey getting harassed by a drunk adventurer, who seemed to just get out the tavern, having 1 too many drinks. you immediately coming to defend her, pulling out your weapon, "get lost, weirdo, she doesn't like you." you said trying to escort noelle out of the situation, "oh but i think she does.. she's blushing, and it's all because of me, alright? you should get lost, because we were having a moment here. i'm an adventurer, hic-! don't intimidate me!!" he screams, "anyways sweetheart, come on.. you just accepted me asking you out, let's go-" slapping his arm harshly off her waist, "dude can't you see she's mad uncomfortable?! she doesn't want you around her! so get the hell out of here!" the shiny vision hung around your waist was already making him cower. "damn alright.. jeez, see you around, sweetheart." the creep walks away, "you hurt or anything? your name is noelle right?" you ask, while checking if the man did anything bad to her while she wasn't in your sights, "i-i'm alright! how do you know my name, if i may ask?" she asks, pushing her hair behind her ear, "i'm y/n, and i asked lisa, you shouldn't worry." ・she confessed through your similar interests in books, a library date, she asked you out through letters, heartfelt words were spilt onto the paper. the way you give her everything you can in terms of affection makes her feel safe, the way you defend her makes her feel like she can trust you all the much more. falls in love over and over again when receiving your bear hugs, feeling your hands wrap around her feels like she's the luckiest woman in the world. when your soft lips hits her cheek, she will melt in your arms. every kind of love you give her makes her blush all the time. ・your small smile after your lips and hers crash makes her wanna smile too, your small kisses on the forehead made her become a tomato, your kisses printed on her neck send shivers down her spine, your affection makes her feel wanted and valid. she always wanted to feel wanted, she wants her feelings to be valid, your affection makes her feel 100 different emotions, loves everything you do, supports everything you do, pretty okay with pda, just blushes madly whenever it happens. ・"quiet & shy" x "affectionate & extroverted social butterfly"

Dark Imagination_ Part 10
A.N: 👻Happy Halloween!!! I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable one! 🎃🕯️
Thank you for reading this story!! I hope you enjoyed it!! This final chapter has guest stars abound!!
Genshin Impact MasterList
-------------------
Tumblr media
You entered the glittering ballroom. This was your first time traveling in this world. It had been three months since your arrival in this world. Your coven was invited to an affair, and they thought it was a good time to introduce you. You took in the sights with no small degree of interest.
You heard a deep chuckle from besides you and ducked your head. You hoped you hadn’t been that obvious. But these were things you’d only seen in movies.
“Do not worry, my dear. The night is young. We will show you all there is.” Zhongli spoke, raising the back of your hand to his lips.
Neuvillette’s hands draped over his cane in front of him, “Indeed.”
Alhaitham only sighed. He was bored already, and his elders refused to let him bring a book with him. They even double-checked before they left.
However, you barely got in the door before you heard, “ZHONGLI!!”
You blinked as at the whirlwind and looked up to see a young girl, dressed in brown with long twin pigtails and black nail polish, had thrown her arms around Zhongli. As tall he was, she was floating as she did so. Despite her gothic demeanor, she was all smiles as she squeezed him tighter, “You made it!! Welcome!!”
Zhongli sighed, “Hu Tao, must you do this? I haven’t even been here for two minutes, yet.”
“But how else am I to greet my sire? I haven’t seen you in a long time!”
“We saw each other last month. For us vampires, that is hardly a long time. Now, get off of me, please. I have a Blood Mistress. It’s time for you to stop being so childish and pay some respect to her.”
You blinked when Hu Tao popped in your face with a grin. You clearly saw her sharp canines as she took in your appearance, “I’m Hu Tao, one who was turned by the Lord Rex Lapis! You are his coven’s Blood Mistress, yeah? It’s nice to meet you, Y/N L/N. Yes, I know all about you! No need for introductions!”
You had to fight to catch up with everything she said before you smiled shyly, “Well, nice to meet you anyway.”
Hu Tao threw her arms around your shoulders chummily, “Aren’t you a cute one! You are human, right? Hey, have you thought about the great beyond? We are having a two for one deal….”
She was snatched away from you and your eyes widen as Rex Lapis glared down at her, “I suggest you watch your mouth, little one.”
Hu Tao waved his words away, “I wasn’t talking about for the two of you but perhaps she…oh right, she came from another world, didn’t she? Never mind. I’m sorry! Hey, let me introduce you to my Blood Master and coven sisters Xinyan and Xiangling! Listen, if Xiangling offers you anything ask what’s in it before you eat, okay? I will not have my sire’s Blood Mistress passed out, Zhongli can and will kill me. She’s a great cook, but she has some weird tastes, you know. Let’s go!!”
Your eyes were wide as you look over your shoulder at Zhongli who gave you a reassuring smile. You relaxed. If he was letting you go with her, it must have been okay.
“I never thought she would leave. How can a vampire be that sunny?” Alhaitham growled, raising his hand to massage his temple.
“Hey, you guys made it!!”
“Speaking of sunny….” Zhongli sighed. It hasn’t been 15 minutes, and he was already tired as he turned to the newest group with a ginger head in front.
“Zhongli! It’s been awhile!” Childe grinned.
“So your coven was invited as well.” Zhongli eyed the men behind Childe,  “Is your Blood Mistress, here as well?”
The coven that Childe belonged to was….questionable in his eyes. Not one, of them, was sane in his opinion. Dottore was a mad doctor, Pantalone valued mora a bit too much and Capitano was, in fact, a werewolf, and a bloodthirsty one at that. Childe was the sanest, and that was saying something. He always felt bad for their Blood Mistress. What did she have to put up with, with them?
“Yep! It seems Hu Tao is winding up all the Blood Mistresses and Masters here to introduce yours!” Childe laughed at the growing group that was surrounding you. You hadn’t realized there would be so many.
“Are we sure, we shouldn’t intervene? It looks like she might be feeling overwhelmed.” Neuvillette observed.
“Ah, let’s leave them alone!” Childe spoke, “More to the point, Rex Lapis, we should have a fight sometime!” His eyes swept over the group, “Or, rather, I’ll fight any of you!”
Neuvillette gazed calmly at Childe, “Do you really think you wish to get into it with me?”
Alhaitham added, “Don’t involve me in your stupidity.”
Zhongli just sigh, “Why? So you can lose again?”
“Each lost brings me closer to victory. We shouldn’t ruin our friendship so something so petty as how many times I lose.”
“We are not friends, Childe….”
“You wound me.”
“So this is where the party is….”
“Heya, Kaeya!!” Childe greeted, then he gave a cool grin toward the red-haired behind him, “Diluc…it’s been a minute.”
Diluc bared his fangs, “Don’t try me.”
Childe laughed, “Bring it on! Let’s go! We can step outside now!”
Zhongli growled silently. Why did this young vampire insist on fighting everyone he came across? So help him, if he tried that with you.
“I will not!” Diluc retorted, folding his arms, “This is a formal occasion, and we should conduct ourselves accordingly!”
Venti laughed as he stepped between the two of them, “Now, now! Why should we get into fights when we have such a wonderful gathering. It’s been since five years since we had a coven gathering like this!”
Kaeya spoke, “Yes, we have much to celebrate. We’ve found more Blood Mistresses and Masters in the past five years than ever before. Let’s not forget the reason for this gathering.”
“Like you and Venti need a reason to celebrate.” Diluc grumbled, “I ask everyday I wake up, why, why was a chosen to be part of a coven with the both of you.”
Kaeya laughed and threw his arm around Diluc, “You do not wish to share a coven with me, my brother?”
“I will end you.”
Zhongli turned to Venti, “It’s been a long time, old friend.”
Venti grinned, “Likewise, old man.”
Zhongli just sighed in response. Barbatos, known as Venti, was considered one of the seven vampire lords on par with Rex Lapis. He never could figure out why a vampire lord could be so childish sometimes.
“Pardon me, am I interrupting?”
They looked up to see a girl, dressed in orange, lingering on the edge of the group.
Zhongli smiled, “Yanfei! Good to see you!”
“And you as well, my lord! I was just meeting your Blood Mistress!  We had prepared in case she wanted to leave, but I’m happy to see that she had decided to stay.”
“I must thank you, Miss. Yanfei. You and your coven’s help was indispensable!” Neuvillette smiled.
“I’m glad that we could be of service!”
Yanfei was not a vampire. She was part of a witch coven. Zhongli, Neuvillette and Alhaitham had contacted her coven, consisting of her, Ganyu and Keqing, bringing you to their world. They were the highest and most powerful witch’s coven in the land.
Neuvillette and Yanfei had moved to the side, started talking quietly.
Childe turned to glare at Diluc, “Despite this being a formal affair, such an affair needs entertainment, don’t you think?
“You are like a dog with a bone.” the red-haired remarked, “First off, we have a set of magicians, who will be performing a magic show later and second, you should think of your Blood Mistress. If I kill you, how will she feel?”
Alhaitham sighed. This was precisely why he hated these gatherings. You get all the covens together, and you end up with this mess. He folded his arms, “Are we going to stand around trading barbs all night?”
“Why? You got something better to be doing? All you do is read! This is why your personality hasn’t developed! I see you still haven’t gotten any new hobbies since the old days.”
Alhaitham rolled his eyes at the group led by the blond, “I did not come here to get any form of opinions from you Kaveh! And I don’t need any new hobbies. I read, and I take care of my Blood Mistress, can you say the same?”
“You!” Kaveh groweld, “I will not have you insulting our Blood Mistress. Our coven takes care of her well enough!”
“Let’s leave our Blood Mistresses out of this fight?” Tighnari cautioned.
“I agree. It’s beneath us to involved them.” Alhaitham agreed, “My apologies.”
“You were the one to bring it up!” Kaveh snapped.
Cyno shook his head, “I cannot understand why you insist on picking a fight with Alhaitham every time you see him. Especially when you always lose.”
Kaveh growled, “Because every time I see him, I get angry all over again!”
“For what? Existing or paying my bills on time?!” Alhaitham snorted.
“We are vampires! Unlike mortals, we don’t have bills!”
“You still do! That debt is still lurking, the only hold over from when you were a human. Now that’s just sad. You are a vampire with indispensable power at your fingertips yet paying a simple bill is beyond you.”
“You act like you were never a human!”
“I never said I wasn’t, but I don’t have any outstanding debts either.”
“Did I really get dragged here for this?” a voice snapped.
Cyno glanced at the man behind them, “Do you want to disobey Lesser Lord Kusanali, one of the seven ancient vampire lords? Be my guest, but you will reap the consequences of such actions.”
Wanderer growled and looked off with a pout. They did not need to bring up Lesser Lord Kusanali to him! He knew what was owed to her. It was the Lesser Lord that saw value in his puppet-like status after being tossed aside Raiden Shogun, one of the seven ancient vampire lords. He still harbored hate, the one who was supposed to be his mother and would have eventually been driven mad because of it.
He was a failed puppet that was supposed to be a vampire like his mother creator, but was now currently a zombie. It was the vampire Lesser Lord that showed him that despite his status he still had worth and was even taken into the coven consisting of Kaveh, Tighnari and Cyno.
“Fine!” snapped Wanderer, “Kaveh, shut up!! I hear your loud voice every day, I do not suffer it over this den too.”
“Then go somewhere!” Kaveh snapped, “I’m trying to have a conversation here.”
Tighnari sighed, “That’s not what I hear happening.”
“This is enough. I’m done. Call me, when you idiots have something important to say.” Alhaitham growled before walking away from the group.
Wanderer unfolded his arms and turned to walk away, “He has the right idea. I’ll be over here. And don’t invoke Lesser Lord Kusanali either because I’m still here.”
Cyno rolled his eyes as Tighnari just sighed and held his head in his hands. Whose idea was it to gather all the covens together again? Childe and his coven just cackled at this. Neuvillette looked up from his conversation with a frown, as he watched Alhaitham migrate away. Well, he supposed it was better than him being in a book. While he didn’t mind, he wanted Alhaitham to be present today. But perhaps getting some distance from Kaveh was wise before it escalated.
Zhongli shook his head as he gazed coolly at Kaveh, “I see that the grudges of days pass has not been laid to rest.”
Kaveh smiled nervously, “You mistake me, my lord. I hold no grudge against your coven brother.”
“What would you call it then?”
“A difference of opinion.”
“Hmm…..”
Kaveh glanced nervously at Cyno and Tighnari who were more interested in suddenly watching the gathering of Blood Mistresses and Masters. You had laughed at something their own Blood Mistress had said. They smiled. If their own Blood Mistress could break through the barrier that was Wanderer, then becoming friends with you would be a piece of cake. Kaveh growled, finding no help among his coven brothers.
“So, if we are done with this foolishness, perhaps we should migrate over to our Blood Mistresses?” Diluc asked.
—-
You gave a sigh as you slipped out into the night for a breath respite. You weren’t the most social of beings, and after a few hours your battery wasn’t doing too hot. You had gone to the restroom, but the garden invited you to gather a few more moments to yourself after you came out. You breathed as you looked up at the moon.
Everyone was currently staying at this compound until the night after tomorrow when they will all disperse. All the Blood Mistresses and Masters had decided to spend the day together, getting to know each other tomorrow.  Hence, all the humans were going to retire early tonight. This was going to be the first time you spent with other people since you came to this world.
Although you were nervous, you were kinda of looking forward to it. Hu Tao’s Blood Master, was quite lively like her, and had already promised to take care of you. In addition to Kaveh’s coven Blood Mistress and you had already become fast friends, sharing much in common it seems. She seemed eager to put you at ease as well. You were a bit nervous around Childe’s coven Blood Mistress. You were a bit taken aback that the first thing she asked you, was if you could fight. You met Venti who was one of the Seven Vampire Lords like Rex Lapis. His coven’s Blood Mistress, was quite a bit friendly as well.
“So here you are.”
You turned with a smile to see Alhaitham leaning on the wall behind you.
“Sorry, I guess I got caught up.”
Alhaitham shook his head before coming to stand quietly beside you. The two of you stood for quite some time in companionable silence before:
“We sent you to get her, not join her.” Neuvillette spoke, his cane tapping lightly on the ground, followed by Zhongli.
Alhaitham folded his arms, “Do I look like a social butterfly to you?”
“We….” you stressed, “Do we look like social butterflies to you?”
Neuvillette forked an eyebrow, “You two say this as, if I am one. I’m not that good at socializing, even with our own kind.”
Zhonglik spoke, “I admit, sometimes, even I get lost.”
“No, you just go on long-winded tirades that no one asked for.” remarked Alhaitham.
Zhongli stared at Alhaitham, “I’m surprised to hear that from you. How often do you engage in conversation with me, thinking I can spit trivia on demand?”
“You’ve read most of the books of the library ten times over, as I have. It helps to have someone else speak on that knowledge. You can discover a new angle that way.”
“But you are proving my point, young one, and thus I shall repeat, I'm surprised to hear that from you.”
“I don’t mind the diatribes, but others may not always appreciate your…peculiarities.”
“Enough.” Neuvillette spoke, “Both of you have your faults.”
Alhaitham gave him the side-eye, “Like you don’t? You both made sure I did not have a book on me to be present in the conversations. Aside from Yanfei, I did not see you talking much either.”
“Miss. Yanfei and I discuss topics of a specific nature, not relating to most people, and we enjoy it.”
“I have read several law books, but I do not find them that interesting. They are hard, cold facts to memorize and move on.”
You raised your eyebrows silently at this. Law books were not the type of material you’d find to memorize and move on, much less understand them.
Neuvillette replied, “This is why I’m a Judge and you are not. You memorize the facts of law in the books, but do you know how to apply it? I think not. Miss. Yanfei understands the particulars and this lends to an engaging conversation. A conversation I had, unlike you. You barely spoke to anyone.”
“Don’t call me out, when Wanderer was doing the same.”
“Wanderer is not my coven brother, you are, and as such….”
The three blinked when they heard your giggle. They looked to see you had taken a seat and was watching them in amusement. The three shuffled once, remembering where they were.
Zhongli turned towards the door, “Well, come along. I hear that you and the other Mistresses and Masters will be retiring shortly. And it would be impolite to keep them waiting any longer. Especially since all of us disappeared.”
“And whose fault is that?” Alhaitham mumbled under this breath.
He got the full glare from both Zhongli and Neuvillette. But Alhaitham didn’t seem nervous instead, he suddenly became engrossed with the surroundings.
You stood with a smile, “Yes, we should probably return. However….”
They raised an eyebrow when you crooked a finger at them. Then they glanced at each other.
Through silent mutual decision, Zhongli stepped up first, “Something wrong, my dear?”
You reached up and planted a kiss on his cheek. He gave a warm smile, “Ah, how quaint.”
Then you turned to Neuvillette and did the same thing, followed by Alhaitham.
Neuvillette was looking away from you, “Thank you, ma cherie.”
Alhaitham just stared at you, his green-red eyes riveted on you.
With a small laugh, you bounded back inside. Whatever dark imagination this was, you hoped you’d never wake up.
FIN.

HOW YOU GUYS MET:
Tao met you in the streets, you both happened to walk past each other that fateful day she didn't have work.
You were neither a sex worker nor a homeless person but she knew you needed help. She could tell from your eyes that you were living in fear with every step you took.
Despite being strangers, she approached you and asked if you needed help. You turned her offer down but then she ended up giving you the troubleshooters business card, to which you reluctantly accepted.
Ever since your encounter with her, you found yourself in a conundrum. She was right on the money that you needed help but, her help was something you didn't need… you weren't even sure if her help could be of use to your situation.
In the end, you gave in and decided to use her help but knowing people like her (To you, at the time she seemed like a loan shark of sorts who are preying after people with financial issues) you'll instead play her at their own game.
You hired the troubleshooters to help kill the maga who was threatening to kill your entire family. When in reality, you planned to use them as an offering to the maga in exchange for your family.
What you didn't expect was for her partner, Alma, to catch on to your lie through his sense of smell.
Out of guilt, you admitted to them everything. Both of them seemed used to being double crossed yet, they still gave you a second chance. Once they were done with the job, Tao didn't ask for a fee but she did ask you to work for Auntie instead.
"Why'd you offer them to work for Auntie's? They tried to kill us! How'd you know they won't do it again?" Alma interrogated his stoic female partner but she seemed indifferent to his questions.
"They won't." Tao reassured though, she isn't even sure about that herself, maybe she just wanted to see you again…
"Their cooking will probably kill us!" Alma screamed, though it sounded more like it was his problem rather than everyone else's.
HOW YOU GUYS ENDED UP FALLING IN LOVE:
Once you began working for Auntie, you were overwhelmed by their friendliness, everyone was so nice to you… The guilt of almost killing their friends was making it difficult to concentrate.
It didn't help that Tao and Alma went to the restaurant everyday, it was becoming more and more difficult to avoid them.
Until one day, Yaya had to take a sick leave, so you and Alma were forced to work together to cater to every customer. Unfortunately, you had to cater to someone you have been avoiding… Tao.
Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of you but quickly covered it up with a small cough. "I'll have the usual."
"I don't know your usual… this is my first time serving you." You said with a sheepish smile.
"Oh, right." She internally cursed, realizing she forgot that you have been avoiding her for months.
After that awkward interaction, Alma then began to go out of his way to make you and Tao talk more, because he was fortunate enough to witness you and Tao being awkward with each other.
Ever since he began working with you, he finally understood why Tao wanted to keep you around. You were hard working and you cared a lot about your family, you probably just stumbled upon the troubleshooters at the wrong place and wrong time, if you guys met in different circumstances. You three probably would have gotten along on the fly.
Since then whenever he was with Tao, he'd quickly ask for you to serve them before you could run off. If he's on shift, he'd tell you that Tao's table hasn't been catered to yet.
It was a slow process but you two managed to slowly become comfortable with each other - though it was mostly on your end because you were the one running away from Tao out of guilt and shame. Whilst Tao was trying her best to not make you feel more guilty than you already did.
Slowly but surely you began to gain interest in Tao. Even Auntie and Yaya noticed - only because you always did something stupid like stumbling upon your words or tripping when you see Tao walk in - though it took Alma a while to notice this. Well, he more or less found out about your infatuation for Tao because he asked you why you did those things around Tao specifically and you accidentally blurted out how you felt around Tao.
"[...] So yeah, she catches me off guard sometimes, y'know? Maybe I still feel guilty for what I did…" You rambled fidgeting with the rim of your apron, trying to figure out your feelings for Tao.
"I think I remember Yaya saying that's what you're supposed to feel when you are in love!" Alma happily exclaimed, which triggered a cold shiver to go down your spine.
You covered your face as you groaned. "That's even worse than I thought!"
Killing your crush on your first encounter? You sure made quite an impression.
After discovering your feelings, you made an effort to actively avoid Tao despite Alma and Yaya's efforts in trying to help you confess or get closer with Tao. Eventually, this did not go unnoticed by Tao, she wasn't bothered by your active evasion - she was irritated - which is why she ended up asking Auntie, Yaya, and Alma but they wouldn't budge. In the end, she ended up cornering you at the end of your shift.
You heaved a heavy sigh, tired from your shift obviously looking forward to falling face first onto the mattress.
"Long day, huh?" A familiar voice questioned, the very same voice that made your legs weak as noodles in hot water.
"Woah-" You jumped but quickly stiffened yourself. "Hey Tao! Didn't see you there."
"I don't plan on revealing myself to begin with, especially to my prey." Tao teased but you didn't catch onto it.
You cringed, recalling how you confessed to them that you planned to use them as offering to the maga in exchange for your family.
"I'm sorry…"
The female troubleshooter sighed then voiced her concern. "Have you been avoiding me because you still feel guilty about what happened in the past?"
"What happened in the past, stays there. We're in the present now. So let go of what's already out of reach."
Alarmed by her words, you began to ramble. "It's not that- I MEAN THAT'S PARTIALLY THE REASON! But, it's something else…"
"Is it because you like me?" Tao said with a smirk, which froze you on the spot. "If you thought you were slick, you weren't. And no, Alma didn't snitch on you."
"WELL THEN!" You shouted then began stiffly walking away. "I'm heading home now, I have other things to tend to!"
"Y/N, stop running away from your problems. I understand it's natural human instinct but, how would you know how I feel about you? Just because you expect the worst out of everything doesn't mean it'll happen." Her words punched you in the gut, you hated how she was right…
"Now, are you going to confess to me or not?" You could tell from her voice that found your predicament quite amusing and it irked you.
"WHY DO I HAVE TO CONFESS!? Why don't you do it yourself since it seems like you already have everything figured out." You huffed out of irritation, you faced her crossing your arms.
"Fine." Tao said, which caught you off guard. As she took slow strides towards you, it felt like a scene out of a documentary, a snake stalking its prey.
"I like you too. Now, do you want me to walk you home?"
HOW YOU GUYS SHOW AFFECTION TO EACH OTHER:
Words of affirmation
Most of the time you are too shy to compliment Tao but when you are in a dazed state, you tend to slip out a compliment or two.
Also, you don't really feel the need to share words of affirmation with her since she seems the type to be confident in herself and stands strong.
You, on the other hand, need a lot of words of affirmation, which Tao can cater to. She's oddly good at it. Most likely because she's had to deal with Alma and Nei, who always look forward to her compliments or words of affirmation.
Quality time
You and Tao neither have the time to spend together, including space since you both live with someone else.
Though not having quality time as much doesn't bother you guys but, you do check in on her from time to time including Alma in case they need something despite your financial problems.
Tao doesn't have the time to check on you but you guys try to cherish your time together at the Chinese restaurant you work in but Auntie always cuts it short, not wanting you to slack off during work hours, which Tao respects.
Physical touch
Believe it or not, you and Tao both suck at showing affection. Every time you try to kiss or hold her hand you either chicken out or Tao doesn't reciprocate your actions.
While Tao, on the other hand, is not comfortable with PDA. It's a different story when you guys are alone, she tries her best to be affectionate but there are times she withdraws due to her past.
Acts of service
You weren't the best cook, everyone knew that. But, what they didn't know was that you were determined, you tried to hone that skill everyday, just so you can prevent Tao and Alma wasting a lot of money on food.
Which is why they always find your food in their office, no matter how bad it is (though most of the time it's a hit or miss) Tao eats it because she knows you'll do better with your next dish.
Receiving gifts
Due to your financial situation, you mostly make handmade gifts for Tao since that's what you are mostly good at.
Tao gifts you things that you mostly need since you never tell her what you want, just what you need to keep your family afloat. But, when you do manage to slip up, she won't hesitate to buy it on the spot.

“Y/N!!”
Turning on your heel, you hurried back to the small hallway where Bai was hiding behind a wall, pacing quickly while hyperventilating while Gwen held her bouquet. You glanced at your other friend who shook her head. “I have no idea,” Gwen said, holding her hands and both hers and Bai’s bouquets up.
You walked over, taking Bai’s hands in your hands. “Talk to me,” you whispered, forcing her to stop pacing. “What’s going on?”
Bai let out a long sigh before she launched into explanation. Most of it, from what you could discern, stemmed from her insecurities and the fear of being left at the altar. That was an easy fix.
“There’s a major chance that Jun is going to get cold feet,” Bai said tearfully. You offered her a kind smile. “He’s already at the altar waiting for you, girl,” you replied, giving her hands a gentle squeeze.
Bai looked up, meeting your gaze. “Really?” You nodded in response. “I just saw him before I came back here.” Bai smiled, relief flooding her features. She turned to look at Gwen. “I’m sorry for worrying you,” she said, taking her bouquet from the blonde.
Gwen shook her head, wrapping an arm around Bai's shoulders. “What are friends for if not to stand by you on the best day of your life while you have a panic attack?” Gwen asked, making Bai burst into laughter. You pulled out a small white handkerchief and carefully dabbed at Bai's eyes so as to not ruin her makeup.
“Come on,” you said, handing the handkerchief to your friend.
“You’ve got a man to marry!”
Tao glanced up from his watch as his driver pulled onto the street, the navigation system announcing their arrival time. The buildings around were all old brick buildings with recently remodeled interiors, including the ceremony venue from what he’d been told.
It had been a long time since Tao had seen his cousin. He hadn’t had much time for extended family since becoming CEO of his grandfather’s company. He had weekly dinners with his parents and grandparents but that was the extent of his family visits.
As the car pulled up to venue, Tao checked over his appearance one last time before the door opened and he casually got out.
He glanced around the area as he buttoned his suit jacket before thanking his driver and heading up the steps towards the doors. He was greeted by a man and woman he never met who smiled warmly at him. “Hello,” the woman said as the man, Tao assumed to be her also greeted him with a bow.
Tao bowed back, greeting them both.
“Are you in the groom’s family?” The man asked. Tao nodded in response. “I am. I’m his cousin,” he answered, pulling the invitation from the inside pocket of his jacket and handed it over. He waited patiently as the man looked over the invite before handing it back.
“We are the parents of the bride,” he introduced. “It’s nice to meet you,” he added with a bow. Tao returned the gesture, thanking him and his wife before heading into the venue. The main hallway was carpeted with a pair of large cedar doors that no doubt led into the grand ballroom where the ceremony was to be.
Stepping inside, Tao was surprised by the enormity of it all. It was a beautiful open room with high ceilings and large glass windows along one side letting in lots of natural lighting.
The bride’s parents had spared no expense, the decor made the interior look like a magical forest. A massive spread of garland hung from a structure a good eight feet above the floor. The greenery was littered with pastel flowers in various colors. Pinks, purples, blues, yellows scattered amongst the green looked like a cascade of flowers flowing from above.
Fairy lights adorned every stationary surface.
The backs of the chairs were draped in beautiful light pink gossamer tied into large, extravagant bows and the aisle had a similar light pink carpet rolled out leading up to the altar where a round archway stood, the same green garland with pastel flowers covered every inch of wire.
Tao was asked again by an usher which family he was here for and was shown to a seat in the fifth row on the groom’s side. He took his seat, unbuttoning his jacket as he got comfortable and glanced around as more people filed in and filled the seats little by little. He noticed a few familiar faces and greeted family as they came up to see him.
It didn’t take long for the seats to fill and soon the doors at the back were closed to prepare for the arrival of the wedding party. Soft music played from hidden speakers overhead and no doubt at the ends of the aisles in the large fake planters full of even more greenery.
The groom made his way down the aisle to wait at the altar for the bride and Tao could see just how pleased his cousin looked. He imagined anyone would be happy on a day like this.
The groomsmen hadn’t arrived yet and it left Tao wondering if they were going to walk the bridesmaids down the aisle. His assumption was wrong as the groomsmen came down the aisle not long after and took their places. There were three and based on the color of their ties, Tao assumed the one closest to Jun to be the best man.
The doors were shut again as the music continued to drift from overhead and the planters. Tao hated to seem impatient but he couldn’t help, checking his watch. It seemed things were right on schedule and he decided to open his program while he waited for the next part of the wedding party.
He was glossing over the names of the wedding party when one in particular caught his attention. ‘Y/F/N Y/L/N.’ His eyes widened as he read it. ‘Could it be?’ He wondered but ultimately decided it couldn’t be. And he had no way of confirming because he’d never learned your last name.
The doors opened and Tao looked over his shoulder as the ring bearer made his way down the aisle and stopped near the front to give the rings to the best man and then went to go sit with his parents as the two flower girls made their way down the aisle, leaving pastel flower petals in their wake.
Finally, the two girls were seated and the maid of honor headed down the aisle to take her spot, followed by the bridesmaids. The first was a very pretty blonde woman who happened to look very familiar but upon looking at the second bridesmaid, Tao was sure his heart stopped.
There you were.
You smiled as you gave Bai a thumbs up, one last wish of luck and encouragement before you stepped out onto the aisle and started down the walkway behind Gwen who was already halfway down the rows of seats.
You matched her pace, smiling as you caught the eyes of some of your friends in the crowd as you made your way to the front. Your walk only lasted a couple moments and soon you were standing before Gwen as the doors were shut to prepare for Bai’s grand entrance.
You glanced around the audience, eyes skimming over the faces of each guest as the music reached a crescendo and your eyes landed on a face you never thought you’d see again. Let alone staring back at you.
‘Tao?’
The last person Tao expected to see walking down the aisle at his cousin's wedding was the woman he met two years ago in Shanghai. The woman he spent most of the night talking to. The woman he brought back to his hotel and slept with. The woman who turned down his offer to stay with him in Shanghai.
Yet, there you were, looking just as radiant as the last time he'd seen you. Not much had changed. Your hair was a little different but other than that, you looked exactly like he remembered.
He watched as you walked down the aisle, beaming at your friends and mouthing hello to a few as you made your way to the front. When you finally reached the altar and took your place behind the maid of honor and in front of the blonde woman, you started to look around.
Tao felt his heart start to pound as your eyes scanned the crowd closest to him and just when he thought maybe you’d skipped over him, your eyes met his and he knew.
He knew you knew he was there. He knew you could see him.
It had been two years and time seemed to stand still the moment your eyes met his. His breath caught in his chest as the music around him reached a crescendo but he almost couldn’t hear it. Like it was distant. All he could focus on was your eyes and the way they bore into him. Into his very being, into his soul.
And as soon as the moment began, it ended, your eyes tearing away from his gaze as you turned to look at the back of the room. Tao snapped out of his trance as those around him started to stand up in preparation for the bride’s march.
He watched as Jun’s fiancee, no doubt one of the girls you’d been with in Shanghai, walked down the aisle. Tao could see just how much love she had for his cousin in her face and her eyes as her father walked her down the aisle.
As they passed the row Tao sat in, he chanced a glance at you and found you were already looking at him but once his gaze met yours, you were quick to look away and back at your friend as she reached the altar.
The rest of the ceremony passed in a blur for Tao and try as he might to focus on his cousin’s vows and the exchanging of the ring, all he seemed to be able to watch was you though you didn’t look his way for the rest of the ceremony.
Shock couldn’t describe how you felt seeing Tao again for the first time in two years. You had assumed you probably would have never seen him again. For the rest of the ceremony, you kept your eyes on the bride and groom but you could feel his eyes on you.
The vows and ring exchange passed in a blur but you were able to perform your duties just fine. Walking back down the aisle proved to be easy as well, keeping your eyes forward as you walked with Bai’s brother, Cheng, and out of the room to the hall where you were quickly ushered to a waiting limo.
You were glad to be shuttled off to the reception location first so you would have a chance to compose yourself. ‘Maybe he won’t even be at the reception.’
If only you were so lucky.
Tumblr media
Once you arrived at the reception, it was a flurry of photographs and champagne before the guests arrived which didn’t take long. You were chatting with Gwen, sipping on your champagne when the first shuttle arrived with part of the reception guests.
Bai had promised that not all of the ceremony guests were attending the reception and she was right. About a third of the guests from the ceremony were not in attendance at the wedding reception but it was still not a small party by any means.
And of course, as the last of the guests boarded, you happened to catch a glance of Tao talking to Jun’s mother, her small hand resting on his forearm as he walked her into the main room.
You turned away to await the announcement of your best friend and her new husband but couldn’t help sneak a peek at Tao who was watching you with rapt attention. ‘Damn it. Why can’t he be a little less obvious?’
The MC picked up his mic and announced the couple of the hour.
Bai and Jun walked into the room, hand in hand as the crowd applauded. As soon as they were in the middle of the crowd, the first dance started and you watched adoringly as your best friend and her husband danced together on the floor for a couple minutes before other couples joined them.
Gwen asked if you wanted to dance but you shook your head, saying you needed to grab some food as you were starving. Gwen managed to snag one of the groomsmen and pull him onto the floor while you made your way over to the hors d’oeuvre table, picking up a small plate as you did.
Tao watched as you chatted with your blonde friend that he definitely recalled seeing in the club back in Shanghai. He watched as you shook your head and your friend walked off, grabbing one of Jun’s friends and pulling him onto the dance floor while you made your way around the crowd.
Tao excused himself to his aunt and made his way around the crowd, following your movements as you headed for the snack table. He should have known. That would be his move as well.
You were loading some snacks onto a small plate when he approached you. Just as he opened his mouth to speak, the song ended and with it the first dance to tumultuous applause. As the clapping died down, Tao tried again but was interrupted once more.
“There you are!” A voice said, causing both you and Tao to turn as Jun approached with his new wife in tow. Tao offered a friendly smile to his cousin. “It’s been a long time,” Jun said greeting Tao.
“You’ve been so busy lately,” Jun continued. Tao nodded in response. “It would seem you have been pretty busy lately too,” he joked nodding towards Jun’s bride. “Right,” Jun said quickly. “You haven’t had a chance to meet Bai yet,” he said, putting his hand on the small of the woman’s back.
“This is my g- well, it’s wife now,” he said. “Bai, this is my cousin, Tao.”
The noise that came from beside Tao as he was introduced to your friend caught not only his attention but that of the bride and groom. “Oh Y/N!” Bai said excitedly. “I wondered where you snuck off to.” You offered a sheepish smile, showing the plate you’d filled.
“Can’t drink all this champagne on an empty stomach,” you replied. Tao looked down, eyeing you up as this was the closest he’d been to you in two years. You looked incredible, the lilac dress Bai no doubt had taken great care in choosing, fit your body so well, showing off your figure as it hugged you.
“Sorry,” Bai said suddenly. “Where are my manners? Y/N,” she added. “This is Jun’s cousin Tao, though you must have overheard,” she said with a smile. You nodded. “Yeah,” you answered flatly.
You tore your gaze from Bai’s sincere smile to look at Tao who was giving you a half smirk and you were desperate to smack it off his face but you knew this was not the time nor place to hash things out with the man. Not at your best friend’s wedding.
“It’s nice to meet you, Y/N,” Tao said with feigned interest. You narrowed your eyes at him. “Likewise,” you said shortly before turning to Bai and Jun.
“Congratulations,” you said, giving them both very sincere smiles before excusing yourself to eat your snacks.
You had hardly gone a few paces before Tao caught up with you. “Look Y/N,” he said softly but you turned to face him angrily. “What the hell are you doing here?” You hissed at him, sounding every bit as pissed off as you looked.
“Jun is my cousin. We were like brothers growing up. I couldn’t miss his wedding,” he answered calmly. “And Bai is your best friend, so you had to be here too,” he added. “It’s not a big deal,” Tao said softly. “As far as anyone knows, we’re simply acquaintances now. No need to bring up the past if you don’t want to—”
“I don’t want to,” you retorted, hotly. Your answer was so quick and you could have sworn you saw a flash of pain across Tao’s face before it was gone before you could blink. “Fine,” he replied cooly before turning and walked away through the crowd.
You turned away and headed out of the room, uncertain if the heat you were feeling was from the crowded room or your anger.
You found a nice quiet space to eat your food and sip on your champagne where you wouldn’t be disturbed. The yacht had left harbor already and was cruising on the ocean, the [city] skyline a blur or bright lights and colors from this distance.
You let out a sigh as you took another sip of your champagne. A server walked by, offering to take your now empty plate and another glass of champagne. You thanked them and decline the alcohol knowing if you were going to get through this night unscathed, you needed to keep a clear head.
You were looking over the water when you felt arms circle your waist. “Why is my best friend sulking out here?” Bai asked softly and you turned to face her, giving her a smile. “Just needed some air,” you answered. “And space to eat my food.”
Bai looked around, checking over her shoulder before she spoke again. “I need to ask you something really important,” she said softly and you nodded, waiting for her to speak. “What do you think of Tao?”
You had been dreading this since you saw him at the ceremony and even more so when he walked onto the yacht. You hated lying to Bai but you couldn’t exactly tell her the truth. Not tonight anyway.
“He’s okay,” you answered softly. “I don’t really know him.”
Bai gave you a cheeky smile. “Do you want to?” You narrowed your eyes at her. “Why are you asking?”
Bai sighed before launching into an explanation of how Gwen has been eyeing Tao ever since she noticed him and how she, Bai, knows Gwen is too much of a partier and player and from what Jun has told her about his cousin, that’s not Tao at all.
“So I thought, maybe, I could link the two of you up and Gwen would move on,” Bai finished and you sighed. “I don’t know, Bai,” you answered. “I’m not really comfortable with him.” Bai sighed heavily. “Well, I told Jun I’d try and try I did,” she said sadly before perking back up.
“Now get back in there, I wanna dance with my best friends!”
You chuckled as Bai dragged you back into the reception, pulling you onto the floor where Gwen joined you and the three of you danced together.
Tao had just finished dancing with his aunt when he noticed Jun standing off to the side with his groomsmen and walked over, greeting Jun’s friends. It wasn’t long after that the others dispersed, no doubt on the prowl for girls to dance with. Tao waited before speaking his mind.
“How well do you know Bai’s friends?” He asked, drawing his cousin’s attention.
“Okay, I guess,” he answered. “I know enough,” he added with a laugh.
“What does that mean?” Tao asked innocently, thanking the server who brought him a glass of whiskey. “It means I know enough about them to give you a basic assessment,” Jun answered as he took another glass of champagne.
Tao took a sip of his drink and nodded. “Okay,” he said as the alcohol moved down his throat. “I’ll bite.”
Jun chuckled, turning to look at his wife and her three friends. “Julie is easy. She loves romance novels and movies. She’s very sensitive and cries when she gets drunk,” Jun said, leaning towards Tao, pointing to the maid of honor who wore a different color of dress than the other two.
“Okay,” Tao said with a nod. “Don’t go for her. She’s very sappy and not into one night stands,” Jun added. Tao laughed with a nod.
"Noted."
“Gwen, the blonde, is your typical party girl. Loves to drink, loves to party, always has a raging hangover the next morning. I bet tomorrow she’ll be wearing sunglasses to breakfast,” Jun explained as Tao watched your pretty blonde friend take your hand and twirl you around.
“What about Y/N?” Tao asked, attempting to sound nonchalant. Jun turned to his cousin, eyeing his expression. “Don’t even think about it,” Jun said with a laugh. Tao turned to look at him. “What?” He asked.
Jun shook his head again. “She had this one night stand in Shanghai like two years ago,” he started to explain, Tao’s breath catching in his throat as he listened. “Really fucked her up from what Bai said. She fell into a depression when they came home. Bai said she’s never seen Y/N like that before. It only seems like she’s just gotten over it.”
Tao tuned out the rest of Jun’s words, keeping his eyes trained on you. The way you danced so carefree with your friends, laughing, and twirling in their company. He’d only ever seen you that happy at the club before he approached you.
Had you really been that torn up after rejecting him? Tao had half a mind to walk over and apologize, ask to talk to you in private but what he saw next made his blood boil. Two of Jun’s groomsmen, Cheng and Ming, had approached you and Gwen while Julie and Bai danced together.
Cheng asked Gwen to dance which she accepted. Ming however asked you to dance and it took every ounce of self control Tao had in his body to keep from launching across the room and snatching your hand from Ming’s as you accepted his invitation. He’d never experienced such strong jealousy before that moment.
He watched as you started to dance with Ming and Jun’s voice came into focus again, almost as if Tao went temporarily deaf and his hearing was coming back.
“Ah now that’s a good match. Ming is a great guy. Y/N needs something like that after what happened. Someone to keep her grounded,” Jun said with a smile. Tao tried not to roll his eyes. He excused himself to get another drink and turned away from the scene before him.
He hated seeing you in the arms of another man though he knew he had no right to be. It just sucked, the whole situation sucked. He ordered another drink from the bar and thanked the bartender when he poured him a double whiskey, neat.
Tao slammed the alcohol down and tipped the bartender before turning away and noticing that a new song was playing and you were still dancing with that guy. Tao hovered at the bar, watching you as a second dance turned into a third and then into a fourth before you excused yourself.
He watched as you exited the room once more and gave it a couple moments before following casually.
Outside, the air was much cooler and the salty breeze offered a nice reprieve from the hot oven like situation in the ballroom. So many people gathered into one spot and then add alcohol into the mix was a recipe for an extremely hot crowded room.
You leaned against the railing at the stern, looking over the edge at the water below as the yacht trudged on. You inhaled deeply and sighed. Maybe you should call it a night and go lie down in the bridal party suite. It was a room you were to be sharing with Gwen and Julie while Bai and Jun spent the night in their suite.
You heard footsteps approaching from behind and let out a chuckle. “If you’re coming to drag me back to the party, think again,” you called out as the person you assumed to be Bai or Gwen behind you stopped.
“That’s not what I had planned,” a familiar voice said. You turned to see Tao standing behind you, hands tucked in his pockets. Neither one of you said anything for a moment before he nodded to the space beside you.
“May I?” He asked. You shrugged your shoulders and turned to look back over the black water with the elongated reflection of the moon dancing in the waves. Tao squeezed himself into the space next to you, scanning the ocean before you.
“It’s so peaceful out here,” he noted softly. You nodded without a word, taking in the scenery. “Why are you out here alone?” Tao asked suddenly. You shrugged again. “Just needed some fresh air,” you replied.
“But why alone?”
You looked at him, your brow furrowed. “Not that it’s any of your business, but I just needed to clear my head without anyone pestering me,” you snapped before looking away. Tao waited as you sighed and glanced at him.
“I’m sorry,” you said softly. “I have no right to go off on you like that,” you continued. “You were just asking me a question.”
Tao nodded silently. “And I’m sorry about snapping at you earlier. I was just…” you trailed off as you stared out into the endless sea. “You ever feel like sometimes you’re back into a corner and you have two options?” You asked, looking up at him as he looked back at you, studying your face.
“You can either accept your fate or lash out? Like a wild animal?”
Tao nodded, still watching you as you spoke. “That’s how I felt earlier. Being forced into this corner and having no way of escaping you, so I lashed out,” you explained. “For that I’m sorry. I’m sure this is just as weird for you as it is for me.”
Before Tao could stop himself, he blurted out the question that had been weighing on his mind for part of the night. “Did you never tell your friends about me?”
His question seemed to take you by surprise because it took a couple moments before you could answer. “Obviously they know about the one night stand and your offer for me to stay with you in Shanghai,” you finally answered.
“But as to who you were? No,” you answered. “I never told them.”
Tao tilted his head like a curious animal. “Why?” He asked simply. You shrugged your shoulders again. “I didn’t think I would ever see you again,” you replied. “This was the last place I expected to run into you.”
Tao nodded with a chuckle. “Yeah, me neither,” he answered. “Seeing you during the ceremony was unreal.” You glanced up to find him already looking down at you. “I thought I was imagining things when I saw your name in the program. Of course, it could have been a different Y/N. I didn’t know your family name until today.”
You said nothing, merely listening to him talk. “At first, I thought I’d been given a second chance,” he said with a smile before it dropped. “But then I thought that you wanted nothing to do with me. I thought the universe was just testing me.”
Your heart sunk at his tone. He sounded so… heartbroken.
Had he really wanted to see you so badly? Did he know what you went through after you left Shanghai two years ago?
“But then I spoke to my cousin,” Tao continued. “And he told me what you went through when you went home after Shanghai,” he added, turning to look at you.
Your stomach twisted into knots. Jun told Tao about your depressive episode? Why would he do that?
“And it got me wondering. Maybe I wasn’t the only one suffering,” he continued, turning and taking a step closer. “Maybe, just maybe, I wasn’t alone—”
A voice interrupted the two of you.
“Y/N?”
You both turned to find Ming walking over. “Bai asked me to come check on you and see if you were alright,” he said, eyeing Tao who simply gave Ming a cold stare. “You alright?” Ming asked. You nodded, giving him a small smile. “I’m okay,” you replied. “This is Jun’s cousin Tao. We’re just talking.”
Ming glared at Tao and moved forward to hold out his hand. “Let’s go back inside,” he said, not taking his eyes off Tao who glared back. You gently pushed Ming’s hand away. “I’m okay, really,” you said with a smile.
“Tell Bai I’m just fine out here and I’m with Tao,” you added.
Ming looked as shocked as Tao felt but hesitantly accepted your decision and turned around, heading back towards the bow of the yacht.
You turned back to Tao, the same kind smile on your face. “What were you saying?” You asked softly. Tao froze. What had he been saying?
“You said something about maybe you weren’t alone?”
Tao nodded, seemingly remembering what he was going to say.
“I thought that maybe I wasn’t alone in missing you, missing what we had back then.” You nodded. “You have no idea how much I regretted turning your offer down,” you replied, much to Tao’s shock.
“Then why did you?” He asked. You shook your head. “Does it matter now?” You asked. Tao nodded. “It matters to me,” he answered, closing the distance between you. “Why?” You asked softly.
“Why would it when we both know how this ends,” you murmured, turning away from Tao to look over the railing at the water below. “It doesn't have to end like that,” he responded softly, only looking up to meet your gaze once you turned your head to look at him.
The dark look in his eyes sent chills down your spine. It was similar to the look he'd given you in the club two years ago. He slowly closed the distance, his body pressing against yours. Your eyes shut involuntarily as you relished the warmth coming from his body.
“Tao,” you warned, forcing your eyes open and reminding yourself where you were. "We can’t." You let out a sigh as one of his hands moved up, taking your chin in his hands and tilting your head back, thumb moving to brush over your bottom lip. “And why is that, baby?” he murmured, ducking his head to press slow, deliberate kisses against your cheek and down to your jawline.
“We’re in public,” you reminded him as his lips moved further still, kissing down the side of your neck. “That can be changed easily,” he answered, his other hand moved to your back, pulling you against him as he pinned you against the railing. “Tao,” you whined, your own hands resting against his chest.
“Fuck, say my name again,” he whispered against your skin. You tried to push him back and create space between you but Tao growled, the hand on your back moving down to grab your ass as he pressed himself further against you.
“Push me away again and I’ll take you right against this railing for anyone to stumble on,” he warned.
Your thighs clenched together under your dress as you felt his hardening cock grind against your thigh. You let out a weak moan as his hand found its way to your neck, fingers gripping tightly.
“Tell me to stop and I will,” he said, eyes meeting yours in a heated gaze. “Tell me to leave you alone now and I will. When the boat docks, I will step off onto the dock and you'll never see or hear from me again.”
Your stomach dropped, the idea of never seeing Tao again too much to bear. “N-no!” you half shouted. “Don’t go.”
Tao’s grip on your neck loosened. He studied your face, eyes looking into yours and then dipping down to look at your lips and then back up. You weren’t sure who moved first but the next moment, your fingers were fumbling with his jacket as he pulled you away from the railing and towards an unlocked door.
You moaned into his kiss as he guided you through the door, kicking the door shut and locking the door. You made quick work of his suit jacket and were undoing the bow tie he'd probably spent a good amount of time to look neat and presentable.
Once the tie was gone, you started to unbutton his shirt, moaning as his teeth sank into your shoulder while his fingers fumbled with the zipper and straps of your dress. “I need this to come off,” he growled impatiently as he managed to get it unzipped and started to push off you, letting the dress fall to the floor, pooling at your feet.
Your cheeks burned as Tao took in the sight of you before him. The hot pink lace adorning your skin was enough to drive any man wild. His fingertips skimmed over the lace and your skin, bumps erupting under his touch before he grabbed you by the neck roughly.
“Did you wear this for someone specific, baby?” he asked. You shook your head. “I just love the color and the lace,” you admitted, running your fingers over the edge of the lace of your bra cup. Tao’s hands replaced yours before running down to grab your waist and pull you closer. “So you weren’t expecting to get laid tonight?”
You shook your head again.
Tao tilted his head, fixing you with an intense stare.
“Not even by that guy you danced with, right in front of me?” You opened your mouth to respond but Tao stopped you, taking your chin in his hand. “You have any idea how pissed I was, baby?” he growled deeply. “Seeing another man putting his hands on you?”
You tried to answer him but he gently shook your head. “Uh-uh, baby. You speak when I say you can,” he snapped with a stern expression and narrowed eyed.
“You’re already in big trouble.”
His hand moved back to your throat and guided you away from the wall and towards the bed. “On the bed,” he said, letting go of your neck and moving to lock the door. When he turned back and saw you still standing by the bed, Tao let out an exasperated sigh.
“Are you going to make me force you onto the bed, kitten?”
You stared at him as he walked towards you slowly. “Did you hear me?”
You nodded, glancing from him to the bed and back, making a show of it.
Tao stopped just a couple feet from you. “I gave you an order, kitten,” he said, his voice dangerously low.
“On the bed. Now.”
The tone of his voice shifted and you were quick to obey, climbing onto the bed. You realized your heels were still on but as you moved to take them off, Tao’s fingers closed around your ankle. “Keep them on,” he whispered. You withdrew your hands and waited for further instruction.
“Oh you look so pretty like this,” he murmured, taking your chin gently in his hand and tilting your head back to look up at him.
“Are you going to be a good girl and listen?” he asked, his voice sweet and soft. You looked up at him through your lashes and nodded slowly. Your lips parted as his thumb brushed over the plush of your bottom one. “Look at you,” he said, a hint of amusement in his voice.
“Doing what I want without being asked.” He clicked his tongue in approval.
“Such a good, obedient slut.”
A soft gasp escaped your lips as the word left his mouth. Tao raised a brow, looking down at you. “Too much, baby?” he asked. You shook your head, arousal pooling in your panties. You liked it much more than you’d like to admit.
“Good,” Tao answered, standing over you with his hands tucked in his pockets.
“You were a bit bad earlier,” he continued. “Dancing with that guy, knowing I was watching. That really made me mad, baby girl.” Your walls clenched around nothing as he spoke, feeding into what he knew you liked from last time.
“You know what happens when you make me mad?”
You shook your head silently, keeping your eyes fixed on Tao. His face broke into a gentle smile. “You get punished.”
Your breath caught in your throat as your heart pounded in your chest, blood rushing to your core and your face at the same time. ‘Punished?’
You said nothing, waiting for Tao to give you permission to speak. “I assume you have no questions then, kitten?” he asked, the amused tone back in his voice. You shook your head. “Perfect,” he replied, pulling his hands from his pockets and moving to undo his belt. “On your hands and knees, baby,” he said as he unbuckled his belt and started to remove it.
You were hesitant, eyeing the belt in his hands before moving into position. The idea of him using the belt to punish you was better than you could have imagined and made your arousal grow, starting to spread and soak your panties.
“Ass to me, kitten,” Tao said softly. You shifted, making sure your ass was right in front of him. You felt his hand run carefully over your back end, smoothing over the lace and your skin gently. “Such a pretty ass you have,” he murmured.
“It’s a shame I have to mark it up.”
You barely had time to look behind you before a sharp stinging hit your ass and you cried out. Tao grabbed your panties and pulled you back. “Keep quiet,” he growled. “Unless you want everyone to know what a slut you are, getting punished on a yacht during your friend’s wedding reception.”
You pulled your bottom lip between your teeth. “I’ll make this quick,” Tao said, smoothing his hand over the sore spot. “I won’t draw it out,” he added.
“Count them for me, sweetheart.”
And you did. After each swat from his belt, you counted.
One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Six.
The number of minutes you danced with Ming.
When he was done, your ass was red, sore, and covered in lines that were starting to welt slightly. “Talk to me, Y/N,” Tao said softly. “Green, yellow, or red?”
Your arms shook, as did your thighs, your head ducked as you held off tears. “Gr-green,” you stammered. You heard Tao move around behind you, his footsteps leading away before returning. “I’m gonna remove these now,” he said, giving your panties a slight tug.
You winced as the lace scratched your sore skin. “Sorry,” Tao whispered as he pulled your soiled panties down. Once removed, Tao pocketed them and picked up a small bottle of cooling gel. “This might burn a little but I promise it’ll help,” he added as he squeezed a good amount of gel onto his fingers and started to carefully rub it into your reddened skin.
You whimpered, body trembling as he made sure to cover all the marks.
“I think I went too hard,” he muttered but you shook your head. “No,” you gasped. “It was perfect, daddy.” You turned your head to look back at him. “Like you said,” you continued, meeting his gaze. “I was a bad girl and needed to be punished.”
Tao clicked his tongue, fighting the urge to smile as he closed the cap on the tube and tossed it into the bag he retrieved it from. “Whose room is this?” you asked suddenly as he wiped his hands clean.
“Mine,” he answered. He must have noticed your surprised expression because he laughed. “You really thought I’d bring you into some stranger’s room?”
You chuckled lightly, the stinging and burning sensation dissipating as whatever gel he used soaked into your skin.
“That gel is amazing,” you noted as Tao moved behind you again. “I use it when I’m sore after a workout,” he replied as he started to undo the top couple buttons of his shirt. “Can you move?” he asked. You carefully sat back, feeling no pain or burning. “Good,” he answered.
“On your feet baby.”
You climbed backwards off the bed and stood carefully. “Come here,” you heard Tao said softly, one of his hands gently taking you by the elbow and turning you to face him, his other hand coming up to cup your cheek as his lips met yours with a groan.
“I still don’t think you’ve been punished enough,” Tao murmured, the hand on your arm moving around your back, pushing you against him. “You don’t?” You gasped, heart pounding when he shook his head.
“No. In fact,” he said pulling back to look over your face, thumb gently pulling down on your bottom lip. “I’d like to put this pretty mouth to use.”
You waited for his instruction and when he placed his hand on your shoulder and firmly pushed down, you followed, allowing him to guide you to your knees.
“Get to work,” he said, nodding down at his zipper.
You slowly reached up, tearing your eyes from his gaze as you unbuttoned his pants and started to pull the zipper down. You glanced up to find him watching you carefully. “Keep going,” he encouraged.
You made a show of tugging his pants down, stopping halfway down his thighs and leaving only his dark blue boxer briefs between you and his hard cock.
Your hands slid up his thighs, moving to take hold of his hips as you looked up to meet his gaze once more. You wordlessly moved one of your hands over his erection, pressing your palm over it and starting to slowly circle, massaging as you maintained eye contact.
Tao kept his composure, watching and waiting for you to continue.
Slipping your fingers under the waistband of his underwear, you slowly pulled them down until his cock sprang free, just as big as you remembered, the tip red and already leaking precum.
Pulling his underwear down to meet his pants, you grabbed his length in one hand, fingers wrapping around the shaft and carefully stroking him. You used your thumb to spread the bead of precum at the tip and watched as his eyelids fluttered, lips parting. You were enjoying watching him react until one of his hands grabbed your wrist tightly.
“Don’t tease me, baby girl,” he growled. “Or I’ll make your punishment even worse.” You obeyed with a nod and as innocent a look as you could muster.
“Open your mouth, princess,” Tao ordered. You opened your mouth for him, even sticking out your tongue without him asking. He seemed to like that.
“Good girl,” he cooed, moving his hand over yours on his cock. “Keep that mouth opened wide for me.”
You did as he said as he guided the head of his cock past your lips, the weight heavy on your tongue. You tried not to moan as his cock glided against your tongue.
The last time you were together, you hadn’t gotten the chance to go down on him so this was new territory. You were sure your wetness had seeped out and that you were dripping onto the carpet as the head of Tao’s cock reached the back of your mouth.
You felt his fingers tangle in your hair. “Start moving, sweetheart.”
You did just that, Tao’s hand there to guide your head how he liked. He was gentle with you, considering the size of his cock and this being your first time going down on him.
Keeping your tongue flat, you started to take control, moving your head of your own accord, at your own rhythm while Tao kept a tight hold on your hair. “Oh fuck,” he groaned, looking down to watch his cock, coated in your spit, disappear in your mouth. “I regret not having you do this before.”
You placed both hands on his thighs, bobbing your head and filling the room with lewd, wet sounds. You could feel him meeting your movements with tiny thrusts, grunting with the effort of trying to hold back.
You pulled off him, taking his cock in your hand and stroking him quickly. “Don’t hold back,” you murmured, looking up at him. He looked down to meet your gaze. “Don’t hold back?” He asked, slightly perplexed. You nodded.
“Fuck my face if you need to. Use me to get yourself off, daddy.”
Tao let out a groan as you took his cock back into your mouth, your own spit starting to dribble past your lips and down your chin. The grip on your hair tightened as Tao held your head still.
“Tap my thigh three times if it’s too much, okay?” You nodded best you could, humming in response. Your hands on his thighs as you braced yourself, Tao gave you a measured and tentative thrust.
When you didn’t react, he thrusted a little harder, the head of his cock hitting the back of your throat. You gagged but motioned for him to continue.
“Shit,” he groaned, guiding your head as he thrust into your mouth.
“I had no idea you were such a dirty little slut.”
You moaned around his dick, walls clenching around nothing as you no doubt spilled onto the carpet beneath you.
Your knees were starting to burn from the cheap, low-pile of the carpet but you ignored it. You didn’t want to interrupt Tao and have to receive more punishment.
His thrusts grew, each time the tip of his dick hitting the back of your throat with a wet gagging sound as your throat tried to accommodate his size.
“Fuck,” Tao cursed. “You really are gonna let me use you, huh?”
You moaned again, the vibrations making Tao buck his hips.
“God look at you,” he said with a chuckle. “You look like a wreck.”
You glanced up at him as he continued to fuck your mouth. “Your makeup is completely ruined,” he noted. He forced your head further down, holding you in place as you gagged around his cock not once or twice, but three times. He pulled your head back, your saliva spilling from your mouth and down your chin, falling onto your chest.
“Such a messy fucking slut,” he growled. “I’m gonna enjoy ruining this hot mouth.”
He guided your head back to take his cock again and repeated the same thing, guiding your mouth along his cock, thrusting into your mouth and holding you in place as you gagged, tears rolling down your cheeks and no doubt ruining your expert applied makeup.
“Come on, baby,” he growled. “I know you can take more.”
Your body jerked, gagging as he pushed your head further, forcing more of his cock into your mouth and pushing past and into your throat. You gagged again, vision blurring as tears spilled from your eyes.
After what felt like minutes but was more likely only a few moments, Tao pulled your head back, the sting on your scalp making you moan loudly.
“If I waited any longer,” Tao panted, looking down at your tear and spit stained face. “I was gonna cum.”
You whined, wanting him to cum in your mouth but Tao lightly slapped your cheek. “Get up,” he ordered. You took his hand, allowing him to pull you shakily to your feet. Tao’s hand disappeared between your thighs, deft fingers finding your slit, dripping with your juices.
“God, you’re so fucking wet, baby,” he groaned, fingers moving along your slit. “On the bed now,” he instructed, pulling his hand back.
You sat back, only wincing slightly as he unbuttoned and removed his shirt, his pants and underwear following quickly.
“Lie back,” he ordered, dropping to his knees at the edge of the bed as your back hit the sheets. Using his hands, he spread your thighs, eyeing your glistening core with a look of hunger and desire.
Spreading your folds, he leaned in and gave a light lick, groaning at the taste of your cunt. “God, I missed this,” he muttered, giving you another slow lick, making sure to tease your clit.
“Tao,” you whined, back arching off the bed.
“That’s not my name, you know,” he muttered, chuckling against your skin as he littered kisses and bites along the inside of your thighs. “D-daddy,” you whimpered as the tip of his tongue toyed with the sensitive bundle of nerves.
“That’s better, baby.”
With each lick, suck, and kiss, he had your thighs twitching, threatening to close around his head but of course, he’d never let that happen with his strong grip on your thighs.
It was easy for him to draw moan after moan from you with just his mouth, licking, sucking, and groaning into your pussy. You propped yourself up on your elbows to glance down between your thighs at him, finding his eyes closed as he lost himself completely in your taste.
Your head fell back against the mattress with a mewl as your toes curled, your orgasm hovering just over your head. “D-daddy please,” you whimpered, one of your hands moving to comb through his locks. He grunted against your cunt, still lapping at your juices as he teased you closer and closer to your high.
“You wanna cum, pretty girl?” He asked softly, voice deeper and huskier than it had been before. “You wanna cum on my tongue?” You nodded frantically.
“Yes daddy, please!” Tao chuckled, pulling back from your soaked center and wiped his lps on the back of his hand before crawling over you, kissing his way up your stomach and stopping to pull down the cups of your bra, taking one of your pert nipples in his mouth as his tongue brushed over it, suckling softly.
His other hand kneaded your free breast, groping and gently pinching your nipple between his thumb and forefinger, rolling it lightly. Your back arched into his face, thighs tightening around his waist as you rolled your hips, seeking friction.
Tao pulled back, teeth lightly grazing your nipple before he peppered kisses along your collar, up the side of your neck and to your lips, taking you in a searing and passionate kiss. Your hips continued to look for friction, finding it in his cock gliding between your pussy lips and rutting against your clit.
“You want this?” He asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper. “You want daddy’s cock?”
You nodded, hot tears of frustration threatening to spill from your eyes as you begged him. “Please, please, please,” you chanted, your soaked and aching hole chasing his cock. Tao let out a dark chuckle before reaching between you to position his cock at your entrance.
“So eager,” he murmured as he barely pushing into you, sinking the head of his cock past your wet folds. “So needy,” he continued, pushing a little further, his girth stretching you out so deliciously.
You let out an unrestrained, wanton moan as he continued to slide further and further into you, unrestricted, your velvety walls hugging every ridge and vein of his length, sucking him in.
“Fuck, I forgot how good you feel,” he groaned, resting his forehead against your chest as he bottomed out.
“So tight and warm.”
You moaned loudly again, trying to pull his hand away when he covered your mouth. “You’re so loud,” he grunted as he gave you a measured thrust,” chuckling as the tears in your eyes started to spill, rolling down your temples and disappearing into the sheets.
“Oh look at you,” he murmured, amused. “Crying for me? Miss me that much?”
You whimpered as his thrusts picked up, his skin hitting yours and filling the room with the sound of wet slapping as his cock pounded your tight heat. Gonna fuck you so good. Fuck you so hard you can’t walk,” he groaned in your chest.
He raised his head, littering kisses along your neck. “‘M gonna fuck you so good you only want this dick from now on.”
Your legs tightened around his waist, locking him in place as he continued to ram into you, each drag of his raw cock against your walls sending you to a higher plane of existence, an intense heat spreading from your stomach to your fingertips and toes.
You weren’t going to last long and Tao knew it. He could hear it in the increased pitch of your moans. He could feel it in the heat radiating from your skin. He could see it in your eyes as they rolled back.
“That’s it,” he murmured, watching your face as your orgasm approached.
“Be a good girl and come on this cock,” he groaned, your fluttering walls hugging him so nice and warm as your climax neared.
Your fingers tightened in his hair, nails scraping his scalp as you scratched down his back with the other hand, your hips trying to meet his with each erratic thrust as he helped you ride out your high by chasing his own.
CUT
You toppled over the edge, coming with a string of curses and his name. “Oh fuck, daddy, I’m coming,” you mewled, stars swarming your vision and your head going fuzzy. A warmth gushed out of your abused hole as Tao continued to pound you into the mattress.
“Fuck, fuck, shit,” he hissed as his hips stuttered only for a moment, before he slammed into you one final time, coming with a moan of your name before he realsed his thick hot load into your cunt, filling it almost to the brim as his hips finally stilled.
You both laid there, panting heavily as you tried to catch your breaths, Tao’s cock still buried deep in your pussy. You could feel his release start to spill out of your hole, wincing with a whine as he pulled out of you and collapsed onto his back beside you, staring up at the dark ceiling.
“How is it possible for it to be even better the second time around?” He huffed, shaking his head as he brought a hand up to wipe his forehead. You giggled, turning your head to look at him.
“That good, huh?” You croaked, your voice hoarse from moaning and calling his name. He turned to meet your stare, a cheeky smile crossing his features. “I’ve been blown away both times,” he answered. “It’s like you have an iron vice down there,” he joked, making you whine and roll into him to hide your face.
Tao laughed, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you into him. “You know,” he said as his laughter subsided. “I’ll bet everyone is wondering where you went,” Tao murmured, pressing kisses to your jaw and cheek.
“They’re probably wondering the same thing about you,” you replied, giggling as his kisses turned tickling, pulling you against his sweaty body.
“Ugh, you’re so sweaty,” you whined as he cupped your cheek, pulling your lips to meet his in a surprisingly tender kiss. “They can wonder for all I care,” Tao whispered when he finally broke the kiss.
The silence that fell over the both of you was much more comfortable than it had been before and you watched as Tao played with your fingers, lacing his own with yours while holding you close to him, your cheek resting against his chest.
“You know,” he said softly, breaking the silence and making you look up at him.
“My offer still stands.”
Your brow furrowed. “What offer?”
Tao looked down to meet your gaze. “My offer to spend time with me in Shanghai,” he answered. Your cheeks burned as you felt your stomach churn. This hadn’t ended well the last time and you hated when history repeated itself.
The longer you stared at him and he at you, the more you realized that his offer would always be open ended. It was clear there was an attraction between you but there was something else in his eyes. Something more than hope.
You couldn’t put your finger on it but you knew what it was.
I guess since I turned you down last time,” you started, looking at your intertwined hands.
“I could give it a chance,” you finished, watching as he pulled your hand closer and gave the back a kiss. “Are you going to tell your friends?” He whispered, hoping you would say yes. When you nodded, he felt relieved.
“Not until tomorrow though,” you answered. “Let Bai and Jun enjoy their night before we bring our drama into their lives. Tao snorted but said nothing to argue against your point.
“Fine,” he answered, thumb stroking the side of your hand tenderly.
“But tomorrow,” he added.
“For tonight, just focus on me.”

Summary: After what feels like a lovely day with his boyfriend, Nick sees something concerning on Y/N's wrist and is conflicted of whether to bring it up with him or not.
Tumblr media
“It’s freezing out here.” I said, running my hands up and down my arms. My boyfriend, Nick Nelson looked over and glanced up and down at me. He scoffed in amusement.
“You have got to be joking. It’s 73 out here today and you are literally wearing a hoodie and sweatpants. It can’t be that cold.” He replied, a light smile tugging at his lips. I shrugged.
“I don’t know about you, sir. But you are a walking furnace. You’re always warm.” I made sure to make the ‘always’ stand out. Nick shook his head.
“And you’re always cold. Last week it was almost in the 80’s and you were complaining about it being so cold that you went inside and wrapped yourself in your electric blanket!” Nick picked up a random small purple flower from the grass and stuck it behind my ear. It stuck out through my hair, and I giggled.
“Thanks Nick. I wish I could see how it looks in my hair. I don’t want it to fall out.” I told him, reaching around my head. He pulled out his phone and lifted it up so that we would both fit in the frame. I looked at the camera above us and began to fix the flower so it wouldn’t fall out. Nick stayed silent for a moment, just staring at the camera.
“You look so cute. That flower looks so pretty in your hair.” He spoke. I smiled and looked over to him. I heard a click of the phone camera and I looked up. Nick had a look of ‘oh shit’ written all over his face.
“Delete that.” I ordered him.
“I didn’t mean for the photo to make a sound.” He said quickly as he tried pulling his phone closer to him. I began to try to reach for it. He pulled it closer and tried pushing me away.
I rolled over so my head was leaning over his chest. “Come on Nicholas! Delete it!” I said with a smile. He just shook his head as he pulled the phone up and over him. I reached up to grab it, my sleeve coming down.
It took me a moment to notice the scars, and at that point, Nick was staring right at my arm. I quickly pulled it down. Nick just stared off to space for a moment before biting his lip. My heart began to race nervously. A smile returned to his face.
“Given up, huh?” He asked. I felt relief come to my heart. I crossed my arms to make sure the scars would stay hidden.
“You’re just really impossible in moments like these.” I fake-complained. He scoffed.
“Impossible? What do you mean by impossible?” He asked. I just shrugged.
“Just making up insults, I guess.” I said, turning away from him stubbornly. He laughed and wrapped his arms around me. He kissed my cheek and spoke.
“If you really want me to delete the photo, I will.” He mumbled into my ear. I turned my head towards him.
“If you want to keep it, that’s okay. Just don’t show it to anyone else. I looked dumb.” I chuckled nervously. He shook his head in disagreement.
“You never look dumb. I only see that cute face of yours.” He complimented before rolling us both over so that I was on top of him.
--------
*3rd person POV*
---------
Nick sat in his bedroom, biting his lip. The image played over in his mind.
The scars on Y/N’s arm.
He just bit his lip, staring off in space. When he finally zoned back in, he looked to his laptop on the left of him. He thought for a moment before picking it up and placing it on his lap.
He went to Google but nothing was in his mind. It was blank. He didn’t even know where to start. He clicked on the search engine, watching the curser blink.
Nick began to type.
'What does it mean if you see scars on someone’s wrist?'
Nick pressed ‘enter’ and links popped up, the first one reading “How To Respond To Self Harm.”
Nick’s heart almost stopped. He had hoped that it wouldn’t be that. That maybe Y/N’s puppy had just scratched him. Maybe even bit him.
Nick slowly clicked on the link. Reading through the passage. The list being; show compassion, respect what the person is telling you, listen, encourage. Things like that. He just pressed his lips together. He felt tears coming to his eyes but he just went back to the search engine.
‘Self-harm’
‘Self-harm scars’
‘Depression’
‘Why do people self-harm?’
‘How to help people with depression’
‘Are people with depression always cold’
‘Signs of eating disorders’
‘Why do people have eating disorders?’
‘Is depression curable’
‘How to get rid of depression’
‘How to help my boyfriend with depression’
Were the multiple questions he asked Google. His heart broke with every question he searched.
Nick slammed the laptop shut and cried into his hands. He couldn’t take it. Y/N had mentioned the fact that, yes, he had anxiety. But he had never mentioned his other mental illnesses. He had never mentioned anything about his scars or battle with self-harm. But a part of Nick knew that if you battled with that stuff, you don’t really tell anyone.
That’s what hurt Nick, though. Y/N knew that he could tell Nick everything, right? Right?
Nick just laid down, grasping onto his pillow, and sobbing harder. He cared for Y/N more than anything else in the world. He should have seen that something was wrong. He should have known that something was wrong. He was his boyfriend! He should have done something. Maybe confronted him about it when he saw them.
He didn’t know what to do at this point. He didn’t want to confront Y/N about it and scare him. He didn’t want to make his lover nervous or anxious. He wanted Y/N to be happy. And Y/N wasn’t happy.
But all those thoughts led Nick to a conclusion. He felt as if it were all his fault.
---------
*Y/N point of view*
---------
I woke up to that stupid alarm. The alarm that always made me want to kill myself. Not literally, only on some days it did. But those were the days that I hadn’t been doing so well.
I laid in bed for a few more moments, letting myself wake up a bit. I grabbed my phone off the bedside table and checked the weather. Another day in the 70's. I checked my messages. No new texts from Nick. I pressed my lips into a thin line.
I looked at my dresser, trying to figure out whether or not I had already washed my school uniform. I didn't want to get up, but I decided I wouldn't want to miss out on my form with Nick.
I sat on the edge of my bed and walked over to my dresser. Surprise surprise! I had already worn my school uniform, so I just grabbed some Lysol from the bathroom across the hall, and sprayed it on them so it would smell halfway decent.
I began to take off my shirt and I took another look at my scars. Some days, like right now, I regretted ever making them. I looked at them and just felt pain. Why would I ever do that to myself? Other days...I just felt like I deserved them. I stared at them a bit longer before I put my arm down.
I put on the uniform, grabbed some sneakers, and fixed my tie, before walking down the stairs and greeting my older brother, a university student. He was munching on a piece of toast with some Australian spread that his girlfriend had gotten him obsessed with.
"It's Pride Month, Y/N." He said, swallowing a large piece of the toast. I looked over to him, just blinking.
"And what do you expect I do? Spray-paint my uniform rainbow, get on a rainbow clown wig, tattoo "I love Men" on my shoulder, and start skipping down my street happily to Lil Nas X while wearing drag makeup and stilettos?" I asked him. My brother just smiled, reaching for the class cup beside him to get a swig of his water.
"I mean, I'm not entirely sure how this gay thing works. But that's definitely not what I would be expecting you to do. But tell me if you ever decide to do that, because I need to take photos." He put the glass down and came over to me.
"Have a good day at Truham, bro. Love you." He ruffled my hair a bit, going up the stairs. I rolled my eyes and scoffed amusingly before I walked towards the living room and walked out the door.
Truham wasn't that far from my house, so I just walked. The neighborhood smelled of dampness and the dew spread over the grass. Girls heading towards Higgs passed and waved at me. One girl took it as far as to winking at me. I just gave an awkward smile and kept walking my merry way to Truham.
When I got to the gate, Nick was leaning on the fence, possibly waiting for me. I smiled brightly. He seemed lost in thought. He looked like he had barely gotten any sleep that night. His eyes looked puffier, and he looked truly exhausted. My smile slowly faded. He looked up at me, his face going from the lost puppy look, to a more neutral face. But at the same time, he looked completely heartbroken. Had I done something?
I walked over.
"Ni-"
"I need to talk to you."
I went wide eyed. My heart rate slowly began to increase. My eyes switched between both of his, unsure where to look. He stopped leaning on the fence, walking over to me slowly.
"Uh sure...what about?" I asked. I stopped looking in his eyes and began to shuffle my feet. I felt intimidated. I looked to the ground our feet.
"Not here...Just...meet me in the practice rooms after school. The room that locks you in if you close the door." That's all he explained. He just stood there for a moment, before he turned around and walked towards the school. I stayed there. Just looking at him walking to the school. I looked around me, watching people pass or walk around.
I finally walked towards the school after the first bell.
---------
Throughout the day, thoughts would appear in my head.
Was Nick going to break up with me?
Did he love me anymore? I mean he loved me yesterday...at least it looked like he did...
What if this was all a plan for Nick to just lock me in the practice rooms?
Hell, not even in form did Nick even bat an eye at what he was going to say after school. He would just talk about whatever. At least that soothes my thoughts a little bit. But they were still there.
I just picked at the skin where my scars were. I stopped when I accidentally re-opened one. The blood soaked my wrist and sleeve, but I just held my sleeve closer to my wrist, hoping it would hide the fact of what I accidentally did.
It got worst during the last hour, anxiety and thoughts swirling my head. My leg bounced. I picked at my other wrist. I didn't pay attention to anything the professor talked about during class. I just looked out the window. Hell, I didn't even talk to any of my friends. It felt like I was alone. Like there had been nobody else in that room but me.
I would sometimes look back and forth from the clock. It went from an hour. To 50, to 40, to 30, to 20, to 10, to 5 minutes. The clock struck down to seconds. And finally, the bell rang. I packed all my stuff into my bag, and made my way down the hallway.
I felt as if everyone was looking at me. I felt as if they were all muttering about me. I picked up the pace and walked into the music section. I walked through the gymnasium where the concerts took place, hearing my footsteps echo and bounce on the walls. I opened a large double door, walking into where the practice rooms would be.
The hallway leading to the practice room Nick would be in, felt extra long. And when I caught sight of the door, time seemed to slow. I was now in the doorway, and Nick had been sitting on the floor, messing with a pillow that had been sat against the wall.
I cleared my throat.
Nick looked up. He gave me a soft smile. One that said, "I've been waiting for you." His face fell again. He stood up and walked to me. He looked into my eyes, opening his mouth to say something. Nothing came out. He looked down at my chest, closing his mouth and swallowing some saliva. He looked back up and opened his mouth again.
Once more, nothing came out.
"Nick," I paused, looking to the left of the doorway. I gathered my thoughts. "Are you breaking up with me?" I asked him, a nervous look on my face. My heart was thumping, a shallow pain within every other beat.
Nick immediately looked up, shock in his face. "What? No! No, no, no! Why would you ever think that? Did I make it seem as if I was going to do that?" He asked, a concerned and sad glint laying in his eyes. His hands trailed up to my face, cupping my cheeks. My heart was calming down now. My face softened. But there was still some nervousness in my heart. If Nick wasn't going to break up with me, then what was he going to say?
Nick lay his forehead on mine. His hands still, and carefully, placed on my face. He sighed. "I'm sorry. This is just...so hard for me to say. I don't even know where to start." He mumbled softly. I bit my lip for a moment and grabbed his wrists lightly.
"Take your time. We have all the time in the world. Use it." I mumbled back. Nick giggled and the smile that lay on his face afterwards was enough to make my heart jump.
We stood there for a while. Nothing but silence and our breathing accompanying us. Sometimes a cloud would move in the way of the sun, and the rays coming through the window would go dark. My thumb was caressing his arm softly. His eyes were closed. If I were high, I would have thought that he was asleep.
He opened his eyes and took his hands off my cheeks. I went to go remove my hands from his wrists, but he stopped me. Instead, he grabbed my hands and just held them. It's as if he were admiring them for a moment before his hands began to etch up the fabric of my sleeves, moving them up a little. My heart sped up.
Immediately, I moved my hands away, guarding my wrists from Nick. I took a few steps back. He looked up at me, shocked at the sudden movement. I pulled my hands closer to my chest and just shook my head. Fear overtook me.
Nick nodded. "It's okay. You don't have to show me. I just..." He went quiet, putting a hand through his hair and looking everywhere but me. When he began to speak, he looked back up. I saw tears pricking his eyes. "I saw them yesterday. In the fields. You went to go grab my phone and your sleeve came down. I saw them. At first I didn't know what they were. I hoped that it wasn't that but something about them just bothered me all day until I searched it up." Tears were now trickling down his cheeks. His breathing becoming uneven.
I felt a lump in my throat. A lump that you would feel when you're about to cry. I held back my tears and I looked to the right of the room. My left hand held my right backpack strap tightly. The other hand lay underneath the left arm.
My voice quivered as I began to speak. "I don't want to talk about it, Nick..." I uttered. A tear or two started falling out of my eyes. I began picking at the skin on my left arm. My left-hand nails began scratching into the strap.
"And you don't have to. You don't have to talk about it...I just," Nick took a step closer to me, more tears falling down his face. My wrists tensed. Nick had his hands out in front of him. "I just want to let you know that I'm here. I'll always be here. I care and love you so, so much and I don't want to see you hurt. I especially don't want to see you hurting yourself. You're way too important to me. Hell, you're the best thing that's possibly ever happened to me. There's so many amazing things that have happened to me and you're the best one. You're handsome, cute, kind, caring, loving. I want you to see that about yourself. I want you to see that you can talk and tell me everything you need to. Please, I want you to know that. God, I just don't want anything to happen to you." At this point, Nick was begging me. His voice was cracking, his face was pale and red from crying, and he was trying to prevent snot from coming down his nose.
Me, well there were 1 of two things happening. 1. I was crying as well. Tear after tear fell from my eyes and down my clothes. Some even landing on the floor. And 2. Nick Nelson had just told me that he loved me. That was the first, 'I love you.' I stood there, heartbroken from seeing the boy I love crying. Yet shocked, because he told me he loved me.
"I...you love me?" I asked, my voice breaking more than Nick's had been. Nick, who was now less than 3 inches away, nodded rapidly. My hands untensed and I stopped picking at the skin on my left arm.
"Yes, I love you so much. And I know it hurts you so much when you do that to yourself but seeing those on you just hurts me. I couldn't help but think that it was my fault. If I had noticed those in the first pla-" I cut Nick off. Now it was my turn for my hands to be on his cheeks. The tears that had been threatening to come out of my eyes, now falling. Hearing Nick blame himself was the most painful thing I had ever heard.
"Don't you ever blame yourself for my scars. None of these are your fault. None of my mental illness, is your fault. Whenever I'm with you, it's as if they all go away. It's as if I don't suffer from the depression, or the thoughts, or the anxiety. It's as if I'm free from the pain. You make it better. you make me better," I looked into his eyes, my right thumb caressing his cheek. "It's nobody's fault but mine. I cut myself. I drew them. It's been a rough few years. But Nicholas Nelson, never blame yourself for my regrets ever again. I might have to tell you that I love you or something if you do." I threatened. My voice and body shaking. I couldn't believe that those thoughts had been in Nick's head all throughout the day. Thinking of it just made my heart hurt worse.
A slight smile began to form on Nick's face. he looked into my eyes lovingly. "You love me too?" He asked. I scoffed, amused.
"Of course I love you as well." I whispered. I connected our lips. Both of our mouths were wet from the tears, but we didn't seem to care. It was just us.
We had to pull away faster than we normally would've had to, due to the fact that our noses were clogged with snot, and we couldn't breathe. But we still looked at each other lovingly.
Nick grabbed my hands again. He looked down at my covered wrists. He wasn't even going to try to pull up my sleeves.
"This is the last thing I'm going to say because I don't want to make you uncomfortable, but please...next time tell me when you feel like you're going to hurt yourself. I will run through the wind, the snow, the rain, the ice, the heat. I'll run through Ben and Harry to get to you. Do you understand?" He asked sweetly. I nodded. He smiled and grabbed my hand.
"Let's get of here before the door slams on us and we're trapped until the janitor finds our bones." He joked. I laughed and followed him out of the building.
I don't think the sun had ever shone brighter before.

Tumblr media
Vivid Loss.
No. Not again. That alarm... You're usually just woken by one of your acolytes, so why is that dreaded sound of the alarm blaring through your sleep induced haze?
Opening your eyes, your old room came into view with genshin playing on a screen across from you.  Dread rapidly filled you, hands clutching onto the soft sheets laid against you. It's happening again, you're back to that absolute hell. Standing up, you moved over to the screen that held genshin within - trying to log in. Why wouldn't it let you in? It was a dream, wasn't it? Where you were free.
Free from education and work, free from your past horrors and current ones. Where was Venti when you needed him? Couldn't he make this horrible place as free as Mondstat? Shutting your eyes tightly, everything swirled in your mind. All of the horrible responsibilities and situations you were in, all of the horrible feelings returned tenfold. This was it, wasn't it? You were 'home'. That horrible ringing began once again - pitchy and annoying. The signal of always waking up forcefully day after day to endure utter hell. You couldn't do this anymore. You couldn't do it -
"Take me back." Your voice was but a whisper clawing against your throat daring to turn itself into a scream.
"Take me BACK!"
"... -ace." Sounds… so familiar.
Hu Tao.
"Your Grace!" Feels too real. So real. A hand was soon upon your shoulder, shaking you ever so gently. The words continued to spill from their mouth, concern etched upon their face. Yes… they used to call you that when you were there. When you were within your true home. Wait, this is your home. Is that… them?
//
"Hu Tao?" She instantly sighed in relief, helping you sit up against the mountain of pillows you had obtained within your adobe.
"Finally! I kept trying to wake you, Your Grace." She smiled widely at you, oh how you missed that smile of hers. That twinkle in her eyes always warmed your soul, you knew she adored you. "You were having another nightmare! It's not good to have so many, you know." Sighing and shaking your head a little, your eyes gazed around the room trying to once again gain stability. During the silence she shuffled herself to sit beside you, a curious gaze in her eyes. "Sometimes it helps to talk about it - would you wanna?" It wouldn't hurt to talk about it, would it? Even if it's just a little, maybe it'll help the dreams subside and all connections of your past will leave you to your new life in Teyvat.
Gently you took her hand within your own and her lighter attitude soon turned into a  more serious one. She adores you after all and promises to always listen.
"My dreams have been plagued by the time I spent in the life before this one; just the thought alone is enough to make me feel sick. Thinking I'm there again without you fills me with more dread than I can even begin to express. Please don't leave me…" She stayed silent for a moment, eyes wide before she regained her usual composure. Taking a light breath in, she began to speak.
Tartaglia.
"Huh, so your remembrance of your past life really won't leave you be will it? I think it's about time we give it its own funeral - dont you? To finally put it to rest and to allow you to move to your life truly and fully here! A good idea, right?" Hu Tao grinned at you before continuing. "I'm here! If you need some assistance, I'm here to give it my all to the very end, your grace! Shall we do this?" With your approval, she's soon standing and grinning. "Well then, are you ready to say goodbye to it?"
//
"Ajax!" His name in the form of a scream ripped from your throat as you sat up breathing heaving and trembling beneath the covers. The door soon finally burst open and a worried Tartaglia stood there with his weapon gripped within his fist along with a Serious yet angry look etched upon his face. How dare something upset you? His love - his divine creator. Seeing no immediate threat, he rushed over to your side with a softer gaze within his eyes.
"My love - another nightmare?" Nodding softly, his fingertips found themselves brushing soft patterns against your hand to try and coax you to lessen your grip on the blankets. "That's okay, I'm here now." His voice was so soothing yet so grounding. However tears soon began to pool within your eyes and once your gaze met his own? Even though he too could practically hear his heart shatter, it took everything in him to not bring you into his arms right there and then. "May I hold you, my grace?" All it took was a gentle yes to be within his protective and warm embrace. "Nobody can take you away from me, my love. Nothing will ever take you away from this world or my arms." Sniffling, you buried your face against his neck.
"But what if it does? And... and then what if I wake up and this is just a dream?" You felt his grip tighten a little around you all whilst his heart hammered against his chest at the thought. These thoughts... How dare they upset you? He will do anything to help you and soothe your mind.
"Then I will tear Teyvat apart to get to you. I will destroy every realm and bring them to their knees if it means I could hold you safely once again." Exhale. "Don't you see, my love? There isn't anything that I won't do for you." A smile was soon upon your lips at his words and loyalty. "Let's try and sleep again my divine, you'll be right in my arms when you awake."

my headcanons for genshin characters
includes: kaeya, diluc, beidou, ayato, hu tao
kaeya
kaeya despises the heat, he can't tolerate the heat at all which is why he has a chest window.
kaeya loves to sneak his cold hands inside your shirt to make you jump then just laugh at you.
kaeya loves to show you off to others. diluc is often the victim of this, especially when kaeya gets drunk in angel's share.
diluc
diluc is the exact opposite of kaeya, he hates the cold and gets cold easily. there's a reason why he wears that thick coat of his.
diluc has a really warm body, you'll probably overheat while cuddling him and beware, he's a big cuddle monster.
diluc loves to kiss all over your face in private, he'll start with your cheeks, eye lids, nose, chin and finally lips.
beidou
the time beidou took kazuha in was one of the rare times the crew had seen beidou so soft, the look on kazuha's face was devastating to beidou.
beidou has a habit of unintentionally smushing your face in her chest while hugging you, careful not to suffocate though unless you're into that.
beidou is the type of woman to ruffle your hair like a kid, she might be a little rough but she means well!
ayato
ayato comforted ayaka when she had nightmares during their childhood, he would gently rock her back and forth until she fell back asleep.
ayato is such a gentleman, he'll hold the door for you, pull your chair back before you sit and sometimes kisses the back of your hand.
ayato is very talented at dancing and he loves to slow dance with you, if you don't know how he'll be more than happy to teach you.
hu tao
hu tao makes your mom jokes to zhongli, the latter just pinches the bridge of his nose at hu tao's antics.
hu tao loves to swing your hands back and forth while holding hands, the way she giggles when she does that is so cute.
hu tao loves piggyback rides, she'll tell you to pick her up and just run around just for fun.
