EARTH TO NINTENDO, You’re Sitting on a Goldmine! Customizable Joy-Cons!

With the Nintendo Switch being a portable two-player hybrid gaming console, the detachable Joy-Cons are easily an item that can and should be customizable for gamers. The possibilities would be endless. Being able to pick exactly what color Joy-Cons a gamer wants would give an amazing personal touch to their hybrid console. Imagine being able to choose different neon, pastel, and matte colors for both left and right Joy-Cons. Nintendo only has certain color options for certain Joy-Cons, leaving players with a limited personalization for their beloved Switch.

Since Nintendo doesn't offer complete customization, fans have to resort to either getting skins to just stick onto their Joy-Cons or risk breaking their Joy-Cons in order to put on their desired shell design. Both of which can leave gamers with unsatisfying results if either option ends up being bad (i.e sticky residues or unusable analog sticks and buttons) .

Another path a few fans have taken is to totally create their own dream Joy-Cons. For example, a YouTuber by the name of Shank Mods actually created their own GameCube Joy-Cons! Overall, one possible reason Nintendo doesn’t offer Joy-Con customization may be because of their branding. Nintendo have always made it clear that they are a family-friendly company and having their Joy-Cons be a certain color/color combo may be part of their aesthetic. However, customizable Joy-Cons would make a lot of fans happy and bring Nintendo more revenue. It would be a win-win for the company. Nintendo, wake up!

Has Nintendo Forgotten about Super Mario Odyssey?

Super Mario Odyssey released on October 27th, 2017, and as of September 2020, has sold over 19 million copies worldwide. Despite this amazing success, Super Mario Odyssey (SMO for short) has had no major updates. Personally, the main reason I bought a Switch was because I wanted to see Mario run around in New Dong City! It was an amazing sight to see and overall was an amazing gaming experience. Undeniably, Super Mario Odyssey was a system seller. To see this precious addition to the Super Mario franchise not receive any significant updates is shocking and disheartening.

The only updates SMO has received so far are Luigi’s Balloon Challenge and the (once in a while) new Mario outfits. SURE, new skins are cool for a moment, but it doesn’t provide any real enjoyment; well not an enjoyment that lasts more than 3 seconds.

I wish Nintendo would give us more new worlds to explore, maybe even an update that gives Bowser some revenge, or maybe an update that gives us a chance to explore the worlds as Peach and Tiara. Maybe Peach could have different abilities than Mario (As she usual does #PrincessGoals).

Nintendo please give Super Mario Odyssey fans an update! Paid DLC?! Anything?! PLEASE?

Netflix on Switch 2020?

Since 2017, Nintendo Switch owners have been craving Netflix.

It is highly disappointing to not have Netflix on the Nintendo Switch, given that Hulu and YouTube have a home on the hybrid console.

Promises of “coming soon” from Nintendo’s end makes it seem that Netflix is the reason for the streaming app’s notable absence.

With Disney+ making its way to the Switch, it makes Netflix’s no-show even more confusing. Why not put Netflix on Nintendo’s current best-selling console?

Is it because of the WiiU’s failure?

It is a business reason that gaming consumers are not seeing?

A technical issue?

We won’t know the true reason for Netflix’s absence but one thing is for sure.

We. Want. Netflix.

Thoughts on the Newest F13 Patch 1.30.18 (In-Depth)

On January 30th, 2018 Friday the 13th: The Game players recieved a patch that gave them a new Jason (Part V, Roy) and a new map (Pinhurst). This patch also buffed Jason while mimizing the amount of pocket knives, med sprays, and weapons that spawned within each match.

And while the patch has other new fixes, the most important one is the improvement of Jason and his mechanics. Before this patch, Jason Voorhees was, more often than not, relentlessly bullied. No matter the counselor, from LaChappa to Jarvis, Jason was being outrunned and easily stunned. This unbalanced game pre-patch led to so many issues.

Many players did not want to be Jason. No one wants to be trolled, bullied, and beaten by seven other counselors working together and not earn a single kill. Jason just wasn’t fun to play as because of the high amount of pocket knives, med sprays, and weapons. Overall, being a counselor pre-patch was almost an automatic win.

Matches were being dragged out by trolls. We all saw this scenario before the patch: The cops are onscene after being easily called and everyone escaped except that one player, let’s say, Tommy Jarvis. He is standing right near the police but instead of just escaping he decides to troll Jason for 10 minutes or until his pocket knives are burned out (Tommy only comes with one but the trolling Jarvis always has two). Now, all the other players who did the sensible thing and escaped so they can, not only earn points but, finish the game in order to start a new match, now have to sit and watch Jason get trolled. This is not only highly annoying for other players, but also Jason himself. There’s a difference between trying to escape by having the timer run out when there’s no other option and just being a troll who needs an ego boost. There were times where I felt BAD for Jason. Jason should never be treated like this. He is an unstoppable force, not a punching bag.

Players left the match if they were selected as Jason. For every reason listed above, this is why players would leave. There’s no sense in me beating a dead horse.

Now that the pre-patch state of the game has been explained, I can get into my thoughts on this new patch. Which is this patch is exactly what this game needed.

Jason Voorhees is suppose to be scary and before this patch he simply wasn’t. The high amount of pocket knives and the reliance of the high amount of weapons spawns in each cabin made it so that counselors felt like they can easily take down Jason. In fact, the egos of the players who had counselor preference on were so high that they started trolling Jason Voorhees, the Jason Voorhees. That should have never happened.

Now, the game is exactly like the movies. Jason Voorhees is scary again and escaping isn’t as easy as stealing candy from a baby. The game is 1v7. Jason is supposed to be OP because he’s only one player against seven others. This new patch forces counselors to work together, which they should have been doing long ago. It’s work together or die now.

If you truly believe that this patch isn’t good and that the game is too hard now. You have been playing wrong and you are now learning the hard way.

When Should You Trade-In A Video Game?

Here is a serious question that I’ve been thinking about. Anyone and everyone feel free to comment and give me your view/take on this situation.

So, I’ve stopped playing ARMS on my Nintendo Switch for a while now. I haven’t seriously played ARMS since October 20th (at least). There was a week where I did not play with/touch my switch because I was waiting for Super Mario Odyssey to come out. Now, that Super Mario Odyssey has been out and I’ve invested 45+ hours into it, I’m questioning my ownership of ARMS. I have thoughts like ‘What is the point of owning a game I do not play anymore?’ ‘When should I trade it in?’ ‘Should I even turn it in?’ Even though these thoughts occur, I also have thoughts of ‘What if I trade it in and then I wanna play it again?’ ‘Am I ready to give up this game in favor of a new game?’

I’m a very sentimental person and that also bleeds into my gaming hobby. It is about to be a month that I haven’t played ARMS, should I trade it in?

It is important to note: Yes, I have traded in used games before, only difference is that they are games I know I will never play again. There were old DS games etc.

3 Upcoming Games for the Nintendo Switch that I'm Excited For! (2017)

DOOM is the first AAA title first-person shooter to come to the Switch. I'm more than excited to be able to blast some Aliens into pieces. This game will probably convince me to buy the Pro Controller (finally)! Overall, it looks amazing and I believe this game will sell well. Mature Nintendo Switch owners would love this.

Price: $59.99 Release Date: Nov. 10th

Resident Evil: Revelations 1 & 2 is on my list because I love the horror survival genre and what better game to come to the Switch than Resident Evil: 1 and 2. The gameplay so far looks amazing and I can't wait to see what is in store!

Price: $39.99 Release Date: Nov. 28th

Lastly, Rocket League was always a game I wanted to play but could never do-so because my laptop is not a gaming one (sadly). The game lags completely and I had to a get a Steam Refund (which is possible to do, don't be fooled). Now, that Rocket League is coming a to console I own, I am more than excited to play. Also, hello! Cars playing soccer on the GO is an amazing idea. Get ready to rumble, players.

My Christmas Wish!

All I want for Christmas is... Friday the 13th: The Game on the Nintendo Switch. Although, this horror survival game isn’t perfect due to lagging, bugs, and glitches while on PC, Xbox One, and PS4, I would still love for F13 to be on the Switch (once the game rules smoothly with minimum to no errors, of course).

Whether or not the game would use the motion controls that the Switch provides wouldn’t be an issue for me. I would just love to be able to play this game at home or on the go (keeping in mind the need of WiFi connection, of course). And once the game developers actually add single player mode, WiFi wouldn’t be needed on the go. Another benefit to having F13 on the Switch is that it opens F13 to another audience. There are mature/older Switch players out there. With DOOM coming out on the Switch soon, it proves that there is indeed an audience for mature games that have violent content.

Once F13 fixes all the issues they are currently having, I think that F13 on the switch wouldn’t be such a wild idea. I think it would be a Christmas miracle.
