“Damn it,” She walked into the kitchen, quickly grabbing an ice pack and setting it against the bruise on her forearm, “Jesus Christ.”
“What happened?” Steve peered his head around the corner of the kitchen wall, watching the hurt girl rest her body up against the wall in pain.
“I don’t know,” she explained, whining as her arm stung, “I was about to head to sleep, but my arm started to ache.”
“The ol’ soulmate, huh? Maybe you should prop it up, lay the ice on it, and try to sleep it off? I know there is some medicine above the fridge. Here, I’ll get it.” He stood up from his position, grabbing a clean cup and the bottle of pills.
She nodded slowly, feeling her head start to pound with the pain being sent through her body. She looked over slightly, watching as he filled the cup with tap water, knocking two pills into his hand and holding them out to her.
“Thank you, Steve.” She popped the pills into her mouth, draining them down her throat with a huge gulp of water. He smiled with a nod, watching as she exhaled in relief.
“Alright, Doll. Well, I’m going to go to bed. Make sure to get better for me, got it?” She smiled at his friendly demeanor, watching him slowly turn around and exit the kitchen.
She remained in her same spot, feeling the hard wall behind her as the liquid kept flowing down her stomach. Her eyes clamped shut as her arm flowed with more pain, a ringing noise being sent through her ears as her body began to feel cold.
Her pain distracted her so much that she didn’t even realize one of her teammates had entered the room.
“(Y/N), are you-“
She instantly opened her eyes to the sound, raising her right arm and connecting it directly into the person who snuck up on her. She instantly widened her eyes, watching one of her friends, Bucky, grab his head and groan.
“Oh my god, Buck-“ As she was going to apologize, she felt a sudden impact against her cheek. Her hands raised to her mouth, holding her face as if it would make the pain leave instantly.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” He held his face with his right arm, watching as she did the same.
“No, I’m so sorry! I wasn’t paying attention, and I didn’t know you came in, and I wasn’t thinking straight, and-“
“It’s fine, (Y/N). Are you okay?” He completely changed the subject, watching as she both held her arm and massaged her mouth.
“I think so. Why are you up so late?” She let go of her mouth, watching as he grabbed out a cold drink from the fridge and took a sip.
“I,” He took another big drink, taking his time before setting it down. “I woke up.”
She furrowed her eyebrows, watching as he looked away from her eyes. She nodded slowly, holding the ice pack to her arm as Bucky walked over and leaned against the counter that was across from her.
“How about you?”
“What about me?” She questioned, grabbing a drink for herself and returning to her spot from before.
“Why are you up so late? You’re usually the first to sleep, right?” He crossed his arms after setting the drink down behind him, watching as she took a sip with both hands and setting it down as well.
“I woke up in pain,” she began, bending her arms behind her as she leaned against the island, “Steve said it was my soulmate. It might just be from training, really. All I know is that my arm is in enormous pain, and now my cheek.”
She laughed obliviously at herself, not noticing the shocking look spread across his face. She looked up shortly after, his face now covered in every emotion you could think of.
“Bucky?” She asked quietly, watching as his eyebrows turn downwards in confusion at her. “Bucky what’s wrong?”
“When did you wake up?”
“Like 40 minutes ago.” She sounded confused in her answer, watching as his mind twisted and turned for a reason she wasn’t understanding.
“What was hurting when you woke up?”
“My left arm.”
“Does that happen often?”
“No, but now that I think about it, this isn’t the first time it has happened.” She pondered, recalling the other times she had woken up to pain. None of them were as bad as this night, but it still happened.
“Holy shit, and you just punched me!” He turned his back to face her, his head hanging low as he had come to realization to what this had meant. She was his soulmate.
“Bucky, I don’t think I understand.” She rested her hand on his shoulder, looking down at him as her looked back at her with wide eyes.
“Not every night, but frequently. Frequently, I have nightmares,” he stood up straight, her hand falling to his rising to set onto her shoulders. He looked into her confused eyes, “I have nightmares about when I lost my arm, and I feel the pain every time I wake up from it. I feel it because of my prosthetic arm. (Y/N), you just hit me.”
“And?” She was completely clueless when he spat out his words, “So you have pains because of your nightmares, that doesn’t explain why-“
She immediately stopped. His eyes staring into hers as she mimicked the same expression he had minutes before. Her gaze slowly raising to face his as he nodded his head slowly.
“There’s only one way to prove it for sure. We can’t go off speculations.” She raised her right hand slightly, watching as he backed away quickly.
“(Y/N), wait-“ He felt a hand collide with his cheek, the slap stinging his skin for a small second.
She raised her hand to hers, feeling the same pain as he was. “I didn’t even do it that hard, you baby.”
“Shut up,” He rolled his eyes, rubbing his cheek once again as this was the second time she had hit him in the last hour, “Did you?”
“I- yeah.” She watched as he nodded his head slowly one again, staring at the ground.
“So, what now?” She asked, looking at the ground too in awkwardness.
“I- uh, well. I can take you on a-“ He stopped suddenly, his face flushing red. His hair feel to his face with the shake of his head, hiding his embarrassment.
“I’ve never done anything like this.” She added, watching as he looked up slightly.
“I have, but it’s been like, 70 years, and well,” he trailed off aimlessly, avoiding eye contact at all cost, “Well, I’m different now. This is different. You’re my soulmate.”
“I like different.” She spoke slowly, raising her left hand to move his hair from in front of his face to behind his ear.
“Ow, fuck!” She hissed in pain as her arm stung once again, her hand instantly falling down.
She watched as he grabbed his arm too, wincing for a second.
“If we’re going to do anything, we need to fix this first.” He laughed a bit, his blue eyes twinkling in the small light shining above them.
It wasn’t intentional, you know, finding each other’s soulmate. In all honesty, they didn’t believe in them overall. But, even if they hadn’t talked that much before this moment, they both were kind of thankful that out of all people, they were matched with someone they didn’t mind spending the rest of their life with.

“Please? Just for tonight?” She grabbed his arm, pulling him towards her bed.
“No, (Y/N). I can’t.”
She continued to pull his arm, his body pulling away in protest but at the same time wanting to give in. He finally pulled his arm loose, watching as she sighed and laid down to hug the covers.
“I’m sorry, (Y/N).” He walked closer to the bed, resting his arm her shoulder.
“You never stay over. I feel like every time I ask you, you make an excuse.” Her voice spoke through the thin sheets covering her body, his eyes closing slightly before sitting next to her on the bed. She looked up slowly, watching his body on the edge while he stared into the floor.
“I can’t, (Y/N). It’s not you. I really want to, trust me-“
“Then do it.” She sat up slowly, watching as his eyes shifted to hers.
“I can’t.” His words made her furious, her body laying back down before returning into the position she was in before.
“Okay, whatever. Go. See you tomorrow.”
“(Y/N)!” He screamed her name, watching her body not move an inch to his voice. He inhaled deeply, looking at his knees and resting his head in his hands.
“At night I have nightmares, (Y/N). I have nightmares, and I can’t control my arm. I wake up to ripped bed sheets and broken lamps. What would I do if I woke up, and I hurt you?” His head still rested in his hands, the sheets next to him shuffled. Her hand found its way onto his back, her other hand wrapping around his chest and pulling him in for a hug.
“I didn’t know, I’m sorry.” He leaned in her body, her lips connecting with his hair. She held him closer, his body laying completely into hers.
“How about you just try? Maybe it’s because you need someone there with you. Maybe it’ll be different.” She whispered into his ear, watching the blades on his arm shift slightly.
“I don’t want to risk that.” He looked up into her eyes, watching them slowly close. Her forehead leaned against his, the warmth from their bodies combining.
“It’s not your fault, you know? It’s not your fault that you were given this arm, Bucky.” She ran her hands through his hair, the feeling of her fingertips massaging his scalp as he felt his body fall more and more into her trance.
“But I still have it. I have to live with it. It’s so strong. So strong that I’m scared it’ll hurt you. I wouldn’t be able to live my life knowing I’ve hurt you.” His voice weakened, her hand wrapping tighter around his as she heard it.
“You won’t hurt me, I promise.” The vibrations of her voice was sent through her body into his, as if it were a lullaby being sung to a baby. Only her voice could do this to him, and every second, he loved it more and more.
“How do you know that?”
“Because I love you, Bucky. I trust you to not hurt me, so I know you won’t. You’d never do that, I know you.”
He felt his eyes sting at the subject, his head resting in the crook of her neck. He took a deep breath, hoping his words don’t come out cracked. “But my arm.”
“Screw that arm, Bucky. You are not your arm. You don’t have to be here every night, okay? Just try this once. That’s all I ask from you, just this once.”
He hesitantly nodded his head, feeling the relief from her chest with a smile. He turned slightly, wrapping his arms around her waist, resting his body between her legs and on her torso.
And in almost an instant of the comfort of being with the woman he loved, he fell into a night of unbothered sleep.

“What should I name you?” She hummed to herself as her eyes followed the flow of the fish before her. Her knees connecting with the cold floor while she sat in front of the small stand holding her new friend.
The fish entertained her lots, and it was just what she needed. For weeks she had been thinking of getting a fish to keep her occupied throughout her boring days stuck in the compound, but one thing was stopping her.
Stark made it very clear that no animals were allowed into the building.
So, what did she do? She bought a fish. Surely, nobody would wander into her room without permission. Besides, it’s a small circular tank. It can be hidden anywhere. She wasn’t that social with the rest of the team anyways, so they’d ask or knock before hand, giving her enough time to hide the bowl somewhere out of sight.
“Let’s see,” She continued to buzz a catchy tune under her breath. The fish was a beautiful ebony color, it’s tail long and transparent. It’s gills moved inwards and outwards as the water pushed against its skin. “Damn it!”
She shouted to herself loudly, leaning backwards off her knees and laying on her back. With a sigh, she rubbed her forehead.
Her body jolted quickly to the sound of the door knob shaking, footsteps coming in. She stood up, covering the tank with her body.
“(Y/N)?” The deep voiced man walked in. He was wearing a regular T-shirt and shorts, his hand holding a water bottle with his hair pulled up into a rubber band.
“Bucky! Hey, what’s up?” She awkwardly smiled, holding her back straight as he watched her carefully.
“I knocked, but I didn’t think you heard me. Did I scare you? I’m sorry. I’ll just go-“
“No, no! It’s fine, what’s up?” She continued to hold her awkward stance, his eyes squinting with even more suspicion as he walked toward her.
“What’s wrong? Are you okay? You’re acting weird.” He stopped a few feet above her, looking down at her. She kept the same smile plastered onto her face.
“Nothing! I’m completely and totally fine-“ She was stopped quickly, his left arm grabbing hers before moving her slightly to see what she was hiding.
His widened eyes watched the small fish swim back and forth, it’s memorizing tail flipping against the water as the light shined through it.
“A fish?” He questioned her, his eyes squinting even more than before. He squatted down, looking even closer at it before standing up.
“Please don’t tell Tony! I’ll promise you anything, just please don’t tell-“
“I won’t tell. Why would I?” He laughed quietly, talking a seat on the bed next to the small fish bowl.
“You won’t?” A huge smile spread across her face, her body jumping slightly to his words in excitement.
“No, I won’t.”
She bounded happily, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him in for a quick squeeze. “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
“Under one condition.” He spoke sternly, watching as she stopped quickly, pulling away from his body with a weird look.
“One condition?”
“Can we share?” He set his elbows onto his knees, a stand of hair let loose, falling to his face.
“If you can help me name him, then yes.”

“Holy shit.”
Bucky straightened his back, his body tensing to the video that was playing through his phone. His right earbud resting in his ear while the other dangled below him. His body shook to the voice being sent through the phone.
‘Hey there, big guy. I know you’re on you’re way back from a mission. I was just hoping you got the hang of this app so I could get you ready for when you return.’
The camera lowered down her body. He turned to his side, blocking the phone light from anyone’s view as he felt his lower region clench from the thoughts and photos flowing through his head.
He quickly found a seat, sitting down and setting his elbows onto his knees.
“You okay there, Buck?” Steve walked from the other side of the room, wiping his hands on a wash cloth. His eyebrows brought together as he heard the words Bucky spat earlier.
“Y-yeah, yeah. I just- wow.” His eyes continued to be glued onto the screen, eating up the last 10 seconds of the snap she sent him.
“Wow, what?” Steve took a few more steps, his eyes peering over the screen of his phone, but he was too late. The snap had ended, and all he could see was the very few names that rested onto his feed.
“Nothing, nothing. I just realized I forgot to do something at home.” His eyes didn’t look away from his dim screen, the little empty purple box next to his lovers name now filling up with color once again.
“Oh, yeah?” Steve looked up from the screen of his phone, finally taking a small hint as a smirk appeared across his face. Steve may have been an old man like Bucky, but he was around long enough to catch the gist of what Bucky had just witnessed.
“Yeah.” Bucky said slowly, looking up to see steve flash him a wink before exiting the room. Bucky laughed slowly to himself, looking around the room and clicking the colored box.
‘I’ll be waiting.’ She spoke seductively, her hand extending outwards, showing him very little of what he wanted. His blanket from his room covering parts of her body, her hand roaming to under the blanket and moving up and down.
Her voice moaned throughout the speaker in his ear, his hand immediately shooting down to the crotch of his pants. Then the video ended.
He stared at the screen of his phone before turning it off and setting it next to him. His hand still holding down as his head leaned back, hitting the wall behind him.
With a sigh, he whispered to himself. “Oh, (Y/N). You have no idea what you just got yourself into.”

Limitations - Steve Rogers x Readers - Soulmate AU
Tumblr media
Summary: In which everyone is born with several tattoos that match up with their soulmate, enemy, best friend (etc).Growing up, (Y/N) pondered on what it meant when she only had one tattoo. She didn’t know which one is belonged too, and it frightened her.
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Warning: PLEASE READ: this story includes sexual assault, implied rape, traumatic experiences & things that corresponds with those topics. I never do stories based on horrible real life tragedies, most of the time I don’t even have to make a warning label, but today I decided to use a strong topic on what happens beneath the surface of rape/assault victims as a topic of story mixed with a character. I know this is long, but it needed to be said.
Word count: 2.8k
A/N: I’ll be updating all my series (and a few request) soon! I hope you all love the four I’ve posted this week! It’s just a thank you for getting me to 1.1k!!

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
One tattoo. She had one bloody tattoo.
She thought about it for years and years. What could it possibly mean? And after those years and years, she came to a conclusion. Well — maybe not a conclusion — but possibilities.
It could mean she didn’t have a soulmate. It could mean she didn’t have a enemy. She could have a lot of things, but in the end it meant something was out there. Out of all the possibilities she had though, there was on that scared her the most. That they could all be the same person. In the end though, that was just a possibility. Her tattoo could be anything.
As much as she dreaded the day she got to meet the mysterious human who shared the same tattoo as her, she often decided to bury it deep in her brain. That meaning she tried not to think about it. She had valid reasons to completely disregard the fact that she had a soulmate, enemy, or both, but it wasn’t exactly one that she could share aloud.
Why? Well, because she valued her life more than her prophecies. And you may ask, what do you mean she valued her life more? Was she in danger? Well, yes. Yes she was.
At a young age she realized she possessed the powers that nobody else did. She didn’t know how or why, all she knew was it was hers.
It started off simple. She’d turn the faucet on and the water would start to float into the air as if they were reverse droplets from the sky. Then, occasionally it would become a little more complex as it was difficult to take showers. In the end though, it practically ruined her life. She was limited to a lot of things, and as time went on, she started to break loose of those limitations.
She loved swimming. When she would splash into the water, she felt as if she though clearer. She felt her worries wash away as she held her breath longer and longer each time she went back down.
But she had to stop. She was terrified that if she did, her uncontrollable powers would do something she’d regret. So, for the longest she didn’t swim. One day she did though. One day she regrets more than she thought she would.
She lived in a small apartment complex with a public pool connected to it. She had came home from a horrible day at work. Her alarm didn’t go off, she got to work late, she failed to do her job on important paperwork, spent 40 minutes listening to her boss lecture her, and then her co-worker had the nerve to hit on her after multiple times of her turning him down.
Originally the plan was to take a long bath, but the water wasn’t working. She didn’t know if it was because she didn’t pay the bill, or if it was just an outage for the whole building, but she really needed to just relax in some water.
Her eyes peaked out the window at the public pool, watching as the water moved against the air, nobody accompanying it. In a split second, she stripped down and dressed up into a bathing suit. If she were to swim, she would have to do it fast. If someone were to come, she would have to leave. It was all one big risk, but she kept telling herself that life was full of risk.
She hurried down the outdoor stairs, her feet carrying her to the gate around the pool before plunging straight into the warm water. The sun shined on the pool, warming her body as her wet upper body came back to the surface.
A smile spread across her face, her body moving backwards as she swam while floating on her back. She closed her eyes, smelling in the deep scent of freshly cut grass that roamed the air.
She continued to relax, blocking out all the other noise as her ears rested beneath the water.
After a moment of relaxing and letting her brain rest, she felt a ripple come from the stairs of the pool. Instantly, her body flinched to the touch and stood up straight.
She almost gagged at the sight of the man who entered the pool. It was her co-worker.
“Fancy seeing you here, (Y/N).” The dark haired man pulled his shirt from his body, throwing it onto a lawn chair feet away from him.
“Get lost, Rumlow.” Her feet carried her to the edge of the pool, her hands gripping the edge as she tried to pull herself up.
Rumlow quickly ran towards the edge she stayed at, grabbing her lower thigh and bringing her back into the pool. She froze and whimpered under his touch, feeling an easy bruise rise to her leg as he continued to grip her harshly.
“Brock! Stop!” She fought against him, trying to rip her leg away as he snaked his other hand around her waist and closed the gap between them.
The same creepy smile he gave her the morning before set across his face, his nose touching her neck as her body stopped all movement. The more she moved, the harder he held her. She felt bumps being send all over her body as his lips tickled her neck, her leg now pulled up to the side of his waist.
“Don’t you fucking move. You have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for his moment.” The inside of her legs was pushed hard again his member, she could feel him growing hard beneath her as he rubbed himself against her.
Tears were welling in her eyes at the force he had upon her. Not only was he hurting her, he was assaulting her. She had never been in a situation like this, and since he was much stronger than her, she felt vulnerable.
“Should we do it here? Or should I take you to my room?”
She felt her silent sobs stutter inside her body, her voice lost as his hand crawled its way from leg to the back of her inner thigh.
“P-pleas-“ She began to beg him, his hand gripping harder as he felt her noise. His face became stone cold, anger visibly radiating off of him.
“Should I enjoy your begging? Should I punish you for it? Oh, the choices, (Y/N).” His fingers dipped into her leg more, his finger tips brushing the cloth above her skin.
She screamed, ignoring the fact that his nails were now digging into her skin. She continued to scream, watching as his hand from her thigh rapped around her mouth, the other around her neck. Her body was flipped around, her back placed to his front as he created new bruises on her neck and cheek.
Tears streamed down her face as she felt him pull her to the edge of the pool. Her hands crawled at his muscular arms, losing its grip as oxygen was being cut from her body.
She thought that there was nothing else she could do. That it was over. That she had lost. But in that last breath of hers, she felt her limp hands ripple against the water. The water trickling against her skin as it rose up her arms.
Then it all went black.
She woke up to the sound of a beeping noise. Cliché, she thought. Rubbing her eyes as she shifted her body. Pain was sent all through her as she moved, her voice groaning before opening her eyes from the light shining above her.
Her bathing suit was gone, her hair and body was clean, but all in all, she didn’t care. She remember what happened, and she felt dirtier than ever.
Instantly, her arms reach for the rim of her large hospital gown, pulling it up the examine where he once held her. She felt her heart drop as she saw the black and blue color show visibly against her skin. She lightly ran her fingers over it, stinging and flinching at the touch.
After that, she pulled it up higher to check her waist. Once again, another bruise. It wasn’t as bad as the one before, but bad enough.
She didn’t even care or think of the fact that she was in a hospital room. She didn’t want to think of what happened after she blacked out. Was she found naked in an alley, clearly raped? Was she found laying in the pool or somewhere else? Did he take full advantage of her? Did he feel sorry, and just leave her somewhere? She didn’t know. She didn’t really want to know. She wasn’t ready.
Even if she was somewhat asking herself deep beneath all of her panic, she still ignored it. Subconsciously, she knew those were the possibilities, but she didn’t care.
Her legs swung across the bed quickly, ignoring the fact that it made her weak to the knees. She held onto the bed side and walls, making her way to the connected bathroom.
The door opened quickly, her hand feeling against the wall of the dark room to flip the switch. When she did, she instantly looked at the mirror.
Her skin around her neck and mouth had the same bruises as the ones on her leg and waist. She stared at her dead face, the bags under her eyes and how her skin seemed more paler than usual.
She felt familiar tears come back up to her eyes, them stringing as she felt her whole face scrunch up from despair. She felt disgusting.
Her hand grabbed for the sponge in the shower nearby, squirting a huge amount of soap on it before connecting the sponge to her skin.
She scrubbed her bruised as she cried, the pain being worse, but she had to do it. She was dirty. She was disgusting. She needed to get rid of what he did to her.
The door to the room opened, a doctor walking in with a clip board. He kept looking at the board, walking towards the bed and slowly looking up. He noticed she was gone, taking full alert as he looked around the room.
The bathroom light shined through, his feet quickly shifting towards that small room. “(Y/N) (Y/L/N)?”
His eyes watched as he saw the fragile girl scrub her skin raw, his hands immediately dropping the clipboard and grabbing the sponge from her.
“No!” She screamed, struggling to pull the sponge from his grip but failing.
“Hey!” He threw the sponge into hallway, wrapping his arms around her as she sunk to the floor. His knees dropped down with her, his shirt being soaked in seconds as her face collided with his neck.
She sobbed over and over, his hand caressing her back slowly. “It’s okay. I’m here, (Y/N). It’s okay. Let me help you. Don’t worry, I’m here, darling.”
He repeated his words over and over trying to calm her down. After minutes of her slowly catching her breath against his touch, the door opened.
“Rogers? It’s Barnes. You in here? It’s been 30 minutes.” Another man walked in, searching the room for his co-worker.
His eyes found the two on the floor, watching as his friend, Rogers, held his finger to his lips. Barnes widened his eyes, nodding and walking away slowly before exiting the room.
“Hey, doll. How about we get you to that bed? I’ll stay with you, and we can talk if you want. Hey, we can even sit in silence. Mind helping me?” He balanced his back, looking into her saddened eyes. She didn’t look at him, but simply nodded against his chest.
“Alright, love. I’m going to hold you by the waist, I just need you to steady your feet. Ready? He slowly raised off his knees, her hands holding against his broad shoulders as they both stood up.
Her legs buckled underneath her body, her hands holding onto him as if she would fall any second. He jolted in surprise, catching her and pressing her body against his.
He hesitated for a moment, he needed to hold her harder, but he was afraid he’d hurt her. She already had bruises, and anything that somewhat correlated to the way she got them could be triggering. So instead of doing what he planned, he scooped her legs up from underneath her and held her bridal style.
She melted into his touch instantly, resting her head against his chest as he turned the bathroom light off and retreated to her bed. Gently, he laid her onto the mattress.
Her hand intertwined with his, keeping him close. He smiled, pulling up a nearby chair and sitting next to her. “Want to talk?”
She slowly sat up, still holding his hand and watching his bright blue eyes stare into her dull (Y/E/C) ones.
“W-what’s your name?” She stuttered against her words, inhaling deeply before placing her other hand lightly against the one she had holding his.
“Steve Rogers.”
“What happened? Why am I here? Where did you find me?” She spilt out the questions that circled deep within her thoughts, squeezing his hand slightly, but he didn’t mind.
“I don’t know what happened, you’ll have to tell me that when you’re ready. You’re here because a kid found you unconscious next to a swimming pool, and he called the police.” He spoke slowly, watching as her eyes shifted to their hands in concentration. He could practically see her mind contradict itself over and over, thinking about the possibilities.
“What happens to Rumlow?” She asked quietly, his name coming off her lips in disgust.
“He’s dead,” he bluntly spoke out, not asking her if she was ready to hear it because it would have only made her more curious, “He was suffocated under the water. He drowned.”
Her whole body froze, her heart dropping to the lowest it can get. She felt her breathing hitch up, her heart beat gaining speed at every second.
“It’s okay, doll, calm down. It’s okay. It’s okay.” He instantly stood up protectively, wrapping his hand around her shoulders and whispering into her ear again. She hugged him back, slowly pulling his body into the bed with her.
He sat on the side of the bed, slowly pulling himself away as he heard her ask another question. “Why?”
She knew why, but she wasn’t going to say that. It was murder, and even if it was self defense, she had killed a man.
He sighed, his hand resting lightly against her leg as he shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
“I don’t know. What I do know is that you were out before he died, so you’re obviously not the culprit. He was found next to you, his whole body somewhat deformed from absorbing the water. There aren’t any camera or anything, but it doesn’t make sense. He couldn’t have been in that water longer than 30 minutes if it adds up with you, but his body looked like it had been in there for days.”
She watched as his eyebrows came together, his eyes looking down as he ranted about the situation. He didn’t get it, and he was hoping she could shine some light into it.
“So, that’s why I wanted to ask you what happened.”
“Well,” She began, crossing her legs and grabbing his hand once again for reassurance. “I went for a swim. I love swimming, and I only go when nobody else it there. I was just floating, and I felt him walk in the water. I tried to leave, but I couldn’t. I knew how he was from work, but I didn’t expect him to grab me. H-he said so many disgusting things. So many. Then he stuck his hand-“
She paused quietly, her face showing massive distress as he leaned forward. “He hurt me, and then he assaulted me.”
“I know, and I’m so sorry, (Y/N). I promise I will help you.” She nodded her head slightly, looking up into his eyes, and for a split second, all her sadness was washed away.
“I don’t understand,” she explained, squinting her eyes slightly towards Steve, “Doctors are never like this, why are you helping me so much? I know doctors say they help, but this is so much different.”
“Well,” he began, lifting up his left leg and pulling the bottom of his pants up to show his ankle. “Because I saw your leg.”
Her eyes widened in shock, her body being filled with both joy and confusion. On his ankle was inked a small and familiar design. ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ Tags: Steve Tags- @g0back2bed @gallifreyansass @walkingtravesty97 @g0back2bed @crazy4thewinbros @iamwarrenspeace @nadtandy @feelmyroarrrr @xabeautifultragedyx @ginger-wayward-assbutt @patzammit @ssweet-empowerment @httpmcrvel @emily-ily2 @avengersbabe13

“Me? Help you? Go tell jokes to someone else, human.”
He didn’t even look at her. He just continued to look down at his book, scanning line by line as if his life depended on it. She didn’t follow up, in fact she knew it would end like this. She knew he’d say no, but it was worth a shot.
Thor pestered her to ask Loki. He said Loki wasn’t that bad, but she said he wasn’t that good either. He didn’t care, but he didn’t really mean any real harm. Sure, he was still under house watch, but a fly was more harmful than him at the moment.
She nodded her head silently before turning around and leaving. If she needed to travel across the world and find the rumored Doctor Strange for help — even though she knew nothing about the man — she would. She needed help with her magic, and Loki was the only person she had a small connection with.
Her legs carried her down each long hallway as her mind wondered. She kept walking until she knew what she had to do, and when she did, she found herself in the living room. She plopped down on the couch, resting her hands on her stomach while staring at the far away ceiling.
“Hey, F.R.I.D.A.Y.,” She spoke up, furrowing her eyebrows as she thought of what to ask the AI, “Do you know a Doctor Strange?”
“Hello, (Y/N). Would you like me to search my information for a Doctor Strange?” Her voice rang from the speakers nearby, a light shining up by the wall as it showed a search for the name (Y/N) mentioned.
“Stephen Strange. I heard something about him from Tony. I don’t know much, though. Just that he’s a sorcerer or something.” (Y/N) sighed, closing her eyes. She didn’t know much of this man, but he was her only hope. If anyone was going to locate him, it would be Tony and his amazing AI’s.
“Talking to a robot? You humans are so pathetic.” A deep accent played through the room, causing her to sit up and look behind the couch.
“Ugh,” she quietly groaned, watching as the raven haired man made his way to the connected kitchen, “If you hate humans so much, go to Asgard.”
“Do I have a choice?”
“Actually, you did, Thor gave you the option of prison here in the Tower, or back in Asgard. Last time I checked, you chose the Tower.” She rested her elbows on her knees, her head turned towards the man.
“Is that what he told you? Listen closely, darling, I’d never want to be trapped somewhere with you and your pathetically low friends.” He pulled out a water bottle from the fridge, not even hesitating to insult her and her teammates. It’s as if he didn’t care, but lucky for him, she didn’t either.
“I’d tell you to go be obnoxious somewhere else, but actually, don’t. Id rather you aimed your pathetic insults at me, rather than at someone who might actually be hurt by them.” She stood up quickly, preparing to leave.
He looked down at the floor, avoiding eye contact and thinking of what to say. She chuckled lightly to herself, trickster didn’t have a comeback?
“F.R.I.D.A.Y., send the search results of Stephen Strange to my room. I’ll check them there.”
“Very well.” The AI responded to (Y/N), sending the results directly to her room. She walked away from the couch, glancing back at the god once more. He stood there with his back leaned against a bar stool, his eyes glued onto her.
“What?” She shouted, growing annoyed by him and his disgusting presence.
“Who is Stephen Strange? Another human?”
“Great. Just,” She ran her hands through her hair, sighing loudly and closing her eyes. “Great.”
“Who is he?”
“Goodbye, Loki.” She opened her eyes, turning around and heading towards the hallways. She continued to take steps, but she was suddenly stopped. A green light appeared beside her, a hand holding her shoulder from behind and turning her around roughly.
“Who is Stephen Strange?”
“Oh my god, Loki! Seriously?” She turned around, her face pissed off, standing inches away from him. She didn’t care, she continued to look into his eyes with anger burning through her, “He’s a ‘pathetic’ human! Is that good enough? Will you leave me alone now?”
She raised her voice, staring into his eyes as he hesitantly looked back and forth between hers.
“Why are you searching him on the robot?”
“Because I need a tutor on my magic! The last mission I went on, I nearly got a teammate killed! I can’t control it some times, and I can’t risk that anymore. I can’t accidentally kill someone I love again, I’d lose it. So please, just stop.” Her heart dropped a little, her hands balling up as she tried to stop herself from remembering what happened before. She avoided his gaze, trying to make the welling tears go away.
His piercing blue eyes stared into her, watching as she took a deep breath to control her emotions. He didn’t know what to do, and it was his first time experiencing this.
He wasn’t good with humans, and he thought they were below him. He believed they were truly worthless scum, yet here he is, imprisoned by them and feeling sympathetic for one.
He tried to speak, but it didn’t exactly work. Air just pushed out as he stuttered and hesitated on each word. He didn’t know what was happening, and he didn’t know what to do.
His jaw continued to stay slightly open as his widen eyes moved back and forth between her eyes.
“Again?” He finally muttered out.
Much like him, she didn’t know what to do. Sure, she had snappy comebacks and always defended herself, but in a moment of weakness, she felt useless.
She realized that she felt so useless that she resorted to asking a criminal for help. She felt so useless that she cut herself from her own job just so she kept people safe. She didn’t benefit anything, instead she caused harm. He was right. She was as worthless as he described.
“Please,” She looked up at his eyes, seeing a completely different person. She didn’t recognize him. It was Loki, but not the one she knew. It wasn’t the Loki that constantly degraded her, but it looked like someone who actually cared. “Just-“
“What do you mean again?” He hesitantly grabbed her hand, pulling her sideways body to face him, her face looking up at his.
“Do I really have to spell it out for you, Loki?”
“I’ll help you.” He spoke softly, not taking his eyes of her for a second.
“What?” Her eyes widened as she sent wrinkles to her forehead. Did she hear him right?
“I said, I’ll help you. I’ll tutor you.”
“Really?”
“I suppose I wouldn’t be the best teacher, but,” For the first time in his whole time staying at the tower, he smiled slightly. It wasn’t the same smile he makes when he insults someone, or whenever he pisses someone off, but a genuine smile. “But, I can try.”
She felt her heart flutter, her body overrunning with joy as she finally felt like she could fix the problem she was facing. It’s like she totally forgot moments before when she felt terrorized by him. She smiled brightly like a little kid, jumping onto him and wrapping her arms around him.
“You’ll really do it? Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” She bounced against his body, happiness flooding through her as she felt his awkwardness in the hug. She didn’t care though, and like before, neither did he.
Loki’s body tumbled back a bit, catching his balance and holding his hands outwards as the girl held him close. He smiled a bit, letting one hand rest lightly above the smalls of her back.
She quickly pulled back, smiling bigger than she did before. “So, when do we start?” ♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡ Tags: @g0back2bed @saltbagpooky @iamwarrenspeace @txcountrybelle @nadtandy @feelmyroarrrr @xabeautifultragedyx @ginger-wayward-assbutt @ssweet-empowerment @httpmcrvel @emily-ily2 @avengersbabe13

“You’re kidding.”
She leaned up against the metal wall, staring at her childhood friend dressed in armor.
“(Y/N), this is no joke. Loki has been trying to take Midgard as his territory. Back then, he only listened to you-“
“Back then. We broke it off, Thor. It’s over, and if he digs himself a grave, he doesn’t need my help laying in it.” She rolled her eyes dramatically, watching as he looked at the floor.
“Just try, please. (Y/N), this is a whole planet at risk, possibly more if he succeeds.”
“Why should I help the humans? They’re worthless.”
“I can see why you and Loki were so close,” He sighed heavily before running his hands through his long hair, “Please, (Y/N). If you can’t stop him, help me fight him. You’re the strongest woman on Asgard — you’re the strongest soldier on Asgard.”
She straightened her back from her leaning position, watching how he stared at her intensively. She stared back, watching his eye contact keep intact as if he were begging.
“You might as well get on your knees and beg, Thor,” She smiled lightly, silently agreeing while he mirrored her expression, “Although that would be really fun to see.”
He walked her into the tower, leading the way as she stayed behind and observed the area.
“This is nothing compared to Asgard.” She bluntly spoke, seeing Thor turn to look over his shoulder in amusement.
“Of course you’d say that.” He arrived to a door, swinging it open for himself and (Y/N) as they walked into a conference room.
Maybe it wasn’t a conference room, but it seemed like it. A huge round table was placed in the middle of the room with the sunlight lighting up the room from the glass wall. Humans she did not recognize surrounded the table as a man with strange facial hair stood confidently in front of them.
Heads turned to the door, scanning both of them as they entered. Thor smiled wildly, raising his arms outwards as a welcoming gesture. “My worthy Avengers!”
“Thor, you’re late,” A blonde man spoke from the other side of the table with a smile and small wave. “It’s nice to see you’re alive, though.”
“Ah, (Y/N). These are the men I was speaking about!” He looked back at his old friend, smiling widely as usual while holding his hand out to the Avengers in his casual dramatic way.
“The strongest humans?” She questioned, watching as the crowd both rolled their eyes and smiled from the compliment.
The standing man with dark hair slowly walked toward Thor and (Y/N) with an extended hand, holding two small chips that she had never recognized before. Thor took one and placed it into his ear before taking the other and trying to place it into hers.
She smacked his hand away, grabbing it as he rolled his eyes jokingly with a smile — because he is always smiling — and gently tried to place it in her ear again.
She reluctantly let him, feeling how it fitted her ear perfectly and produced a small static sound. Thor tapped his ear, and as he did, a small thump was sent into hers. She soon caught on before nodding, turning back to the others as they waited.
“Like I said before, I know she can do it.” Thor set his hands on the back of a chair, watching as everyone silently watched him.
“So, you’re telling me that she can stop Loki?” The dark haired man up front spoke sarcastically, sighing loudly before turning his back toward the others and staring out the window.
“Well, yes,” Thor seemed offended, as if he was the only one that had hope in (Y/N), “She’s just like him, and they used to be best friends growing up.”
“She’s just like him? How so?” A red head turned her rolling chair facing Thor, raising one eyebrow before taking a drink from her straw.
“Say something (Y/N).” Thor smiles mischievously, earning a smile back from her as she knew exactly what to say.
“Even the strongest human is no match for the weakest Asgardian.”
“Yup — just like him.” The blonde man from before spoke up again, still having a goofy but serious smile plastered on his face.
“Does that help? When do we get started? Where even is Loki?” (Y/N) crossed her arms, watching as the others exchanged a weird look.
“We don’t know where he is.” A darker man with an eyepatch walked in from the hallway, holding a file of papers and throwing them on the table in front of her.
“What do you mean you don’t know?” She furrowed her eyebrows at the older man, opening the file to see multiple photos of Loki from the days before.
“Well, we assume he’ll attack any moment, and that’s when you come in.” He closed the file, setting it between his arm and torso.
“Hey guys,” The large blond man stood up, pointing his hand towards the glass wall without taking his eyes off of it, “Looks like our expected company is here.”
Everyone looked toward the sky above, watching as multiple Chitauri’s fly into the city and created chaos. They were flying on unidentified objects, hitting the sides of buildings as if they were the enemy. But that wasn’t the worst part. After a few moments, Chitauri Leviathan’s roamed into the city, knocking towers down with a slight tap of their tail. But yet again, it wasn’t the worst part. The worse part was that the destruction wasn’t even intentional. Everyone quickly grabbed their things, running towards the deck in the main room and preparing to fight.
“Stay here, (Y/N). We’ll find a way to bring him up here to you.” Thor set his hand on her shoulder before raising his hammer, preparing to attack.
“I can fight too, Thor.” She grabbed him arm, forcing him to look back and pause.
“That’s not why you’re here, (Y/N). We’ll bring Loki to you, I promise.” He gave her his famous kind smile, raising his hammer and flying away. She rolled her eyes, watching everyone fight beneath her as she had to wait.
(Y/N) was a warrior. She wasn’t used to watching people fight for her. She was used to fighting along side her people, human or not, she wanted to fulfill her duty and do what she always has done, but she couldn’t.
She walked back to the bar in defeat, wasting time before someone ‘accidentally’ throws Loki into the tower.
Her legs carried her around the main room, walking to the small bar and scanning the alcohol stored into it. She removed the top to a few and took a sip, laughing at how much weaker humans were than she initially expected.
After moments of observing the human habitat, for she had never been on earth before, the glass on the side of the building came crashing in.
She continued to read the labels on the bottles, ignoring the crash and acting as if it never happened. The glass from behind began to crunch, as if someone was walking on it.
“(Y/N), Clint has blown Loki into the building. Please, stop him.” The blonde mans familiar deep voice came into her ear as she continued to read the bottles. She ignored the statement like the conversation they previously had over the speakers, but soon came to realization.
“Oh,” She carelessly said, “I should probably pay more attention.”
“What does that mean?”
She ignored the question from the man in iron before raising an eyebrow. Quickly, she set the bottle down gently on the placing rack and turned around.
There laid the man she was destined to meet. He was on all fours, trying to stand up without cutting himself on the glass. Eventually, he stood up before dusting off his armor and touching a small cut on the bridge of his nose. He hissed at the pain, watching as blood trickled down his finger.
“I heard that the alcohol here helps wounds, and lucky for you, this whole bar is full of them.” She spoke up loudly, watching as he looked forward at the woman he thought he’d never see again.
Her ear buzzed. “Is she trying to stop Loki? It somehow seems like she’s having a normal conversation with him. Should she be flirting with him?” The usually sarcastic voice beamed through.
“Just let her-“ Thor spoke after Stark, But was cut off as she ripped the piece through her ear and across the room.
“I’m surprised,” He stated blankly, still holding his finger against his cut, “but yet again, I’m not. Thor brought you here, didn’t he? I’d never thought of a day that we’d be here on Midgard together, (Y/N), but just thank Thor for that.”
“Brotherly love, I guess.” She grabbed a glass and placed ice in it, quickly pouring herself a drink despite the fact that it would do nothing to her.
“Adopted.” He sheepishly smiled, watching as she took a drink of the alcohol.
“They brought me here to stop you. I told them I haven’t seen you in years, but here I am. I don’t think I can stop you, do you?” She raised the bottom of her glass, finishing it before setting it on the table before her.
“I agree, that was very foolish of them.” He lowered his hand, making a hurt and confused face as he did.
“I’d ask if you need help, but at the same time I want to tell you that you’re a complete and utter idiot.”
“Help with what? Taking over Midgard? Or with my small bruises?”
“Obviously the bruises. I have too much to lose if I failed at taking over Midgard.” She walked around the bar, coming closer to him by the second.
“I guess that’s the difference between you and I. I have nothing to lose, you see?” He held his free hand our and the other with the scepter in hand.
“No, Loki. You still have things to lose, you just don’t identify with them. You rather make it seem like you have nothing.” She was a few feet away from him before stopping, watching his eyes shift from her to the floor beneath them.
“How would you know? We haven’t spoken in years.”
“Because you didn’t want me to! I tried, Loki. I really tried, but you wouldn’t let me, so I gave up.”
“I lost you long before that, (Y/N)! You were the last thing I truly cared about, and I lost you. You changed, you adapted with everyone else, and eventually it wasn’t all about us being best friends. It was about you creating a life and moving on without me while I sat by the throne, learning what I’m destined to never do!” He slammed the bottom of his scepter down each time he emphasized a loud word.
“I know how much you wished to be king, Loki. I understand.” She raised her hand to set it on his shoulder, but he coldly moved back and avoided eye contact.
“You used to be there with me for everything, (Y/N). When I realized we were no longer close as we were, I went mad,” He looked up into her eyes, watching as she stared at him with concern, “but that no longer matters, (Y/N). See, I’ve already dig myself my grave. I already started, and it would be pointless not to end it.”
“If you stop now, I can help you. Look, Loki, I didn’t plan on coming here. I didn’t plan on helping you, but Thor asked me too. The more I realized how desperate he was for me to help, the more I realized that you need help and not him. I want to be best friends again, I want to have that relationship, but I can’t if you don’t too. I tried for years to create that again, but I thought you didn’t want it. If you do, let me help. Let me see the man I grew up with.”
She tried to lay her hand on his shoulder once again, this time he hesitantly let her. She quickly set her other hand on his other shoulder and brought him in for a hug. He didn’t even hesitate on the hug, he melted right into it. He let his gold and helmet disappear for his body, his true form sinking into her shoulder and his arms pulling her in tighter than she was.
“If I give up now, I’ll be imprisoned. No matter what, we can’t do it. I’m sorry.” He whispered into her ear, his eyes slightly tearing, but it was not enough for them to fall.
“If you give up now and you’re imprisoned, then I promise I’ll spend most of my time accompanying you. They can’t refuse that, Loki. If you let it all go now, then they’ll say I made you surrender. If I get credit for this, I’m sure they’ll give me any privilege I want.” She brought her head back, looking into his damp wet eyes. She didn’t want the credit for his capture, but the possibility was that if she did successfully capture him, they would have to let her do what she wanted. He knew she was right, and he knew this was the best option.
“It’s not like me to surrender, you know?” He laughed slightly, shining his teeth truly for the first time.
“Then let me beat you up!” She pulled away, watching as his whole smiled drop and his hands hold up to cross back in forth in a negative motion.
“No, no, no. Like that one time we did the ‘get help’ with Thor? No way. No, I’m always the one getting hurt.” He shook his head back in forth, his lips in a fine line.
“Well then, I guess you’re going to have to let go of that ego.”
“Wait,” he paused, his hand placed on his scepter still, as his eyes glued to the world outside. “They’re going to win.”
His eyes widened before shutting completely. He had lost his own war.
“Alright, Loki. Prepare yourself, they’ll be here soon.” She walked closer to the broken window, watching as the light holding the portal open closed, the Chitauri race stopping completely and falling as if they were statues. The Avengers were all separated equally around the city, but all visible and headed towards the tower where Loki remained.
“Loki, they’re coming. Any last words?” She turned around slowly, watching as he walked up to her and grabbed her by the shoulders.
“No, but,” He stared into her eyes, watching as she stood there cluelessly, “I’ve been meaning to do this for a long time.”
He pulled her shoulders in, connecting his lips against her as his arms let go and snaked around her waist. She stopped for a moment before wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling his closer by his hair.
Their lips moved in sync, his tongue slowly guiding its way across her bottom lip. Their hands roaming around each other’s body, holding close as if any second they’d be split apart.
His tongue explored the inside of her teeth and the taste of her lips. Both slightly smiling before pulling away to gasp for air. They stared in each other’s eyes for a moment, nose touching. She quickly looked over her shoulder, watching as the team landed on the balcony.
She pulled away quickly, moving her hand toward the Avengers as he nodded his head and caught his breath.
“Should we tell them what just happened?” She asked quickly, both of their eyes glued to the others.
“Uhm,” He sucked in his lips, furrowing his eyebrows as if he was deeply concentrated on an answer, “No, but what you can tell them is that you’ll be visiting me inside my prison cell.”
“Why’s that?”
“Well, not only did you promise, but we have to finish what we started, darling.”

A Life For A Life - Bucky Barnes x Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Bucky escapes Hydra with the help of a mysterious woman. As days go on since his escape, he remembers more and more. Once he remembers enough, he realizes the woman who saves his life is in danger.
I'm not so confident on this story & it kinda has a weird timeline but I spent too much on it this week to not post it / restarting a request kinda sucks
Request: Hi i love your work!! i was wondering if you could do a bucky x reader based on the song Dusk Till Dawn by Zayn ft Sia??? REQUESTED BY: @avengersbabe13
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Reader
Word count: 3,760k
[[ Check Out My Masterlist ]]
A/N: I’ve never written a story that goes along side the lyrics of a song, and I still have a few request that include songs. So, basically what I’m trying to say is they’ll be in this type of format because not only is it most comfortable for myself, but the easiest! Also, this ones a little weird but I debated on going with a love story vs a story of them struggling (as described in the song), but i eventually went with this.
Request information is in my bio!
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
Not tryna be indie. Not tryna be cool. Just tryna be in this, tell me how you choose. Can you feel why you're in this? Can you feel it through? All of the windows inside this room.
He’s better independent, and that’s one reason why he escaped. There was a time period between certain missions where he caught a glimpse of his previous life. It was so happy, so peaceful, so much different from his current life.
He was at some party, and he was next to someone he trusted dearly. He didn’t know who the man was, but he knew who he was. He couldn’t explain it, it was as if he could trust the man with his life, but at the same time didn’t even remember his name.
Would life be like that outside of the hidden facility he was locked into? He knew it couldn’t be worse than watching men get strapped into an electric chair, just awaiting for his turn to have his most prize possessions stolen from him.
The moment he remembered, he was taken back to the room. The memory was taken from him with force as his teeth chewed into the leather place on his tongue. His voice screaming through the hallway as he forgot the man mentioned before completely.
Soon enough after that, he remembered again. Not on his own, but with the help of someone he didn’t quite remember.
He wouldn’t have remember the memory if he didn’t hear a certain name. He was on a small mission. His job was to guard a man who meant a lot to Hydra, to help him travel safely through his journey.
He held the gun to his side as he walked down the hall, guarding the tiny man behind him. His ears searching for any unfamiliar sound, waiting to get into position for any fight.
As soon as he turned a hall, he heard voices screaming. His body tensed up, prepared to protect the man behind him, but the man reassured him not to.
“Do not worry about them. We’re just getting rid of a traitor, that’s all.”
Bucky nodded his head to the mans orders, continuing to walk down the hall as the screams got louder.
“It’s all because of you that he wasn’t at his fullest potential! You were here under my orders, and you disobeyed that!” A deep voice was sent through a door located at the end of the hallway.
The door slammed open, the suspected man held a woman in his arms. His grip on her was tight as he threw her around like a rag doll. She screamed in pain as he shoved her back and forth, holding her by her arm and hair.
She screamed once again, focusing her head down the hallway as she spotted Bucky. He eyes widened, watching how he stared at her with no emotion.
“You put him back in the chair?” She screamed at the man behind her, listening to him laugh as she continued to struggle against his grip.
“We has no choice, darling. He was months over due, wasn’t he?” He pulled her hair back, her head lying on his shoulder, her teeth gashing as she continued to shake beneath him.
“James!” She screamed at Bucky, the mans arms wrapping around her body tighter and tighter as she screamed. “Please remember!”
She tried again, noticing as his emotion didn’t change a bit. Tears began to sting in her eyes from the force being brought upon her, the realization of what she did was all for nothing.
“Shoot her.” The man behind Bucky demanded, watching as she screamed in protest as he raised his gun.
“Steve Rogers. Remember Steve Rogers! Get out of here, James! It’s our only chance. Save us all.” His head pounded as memories was filling inside his mind, the memory of the bar and back alleys becoming familiar. Steve Rogers.
She saw the change in his eyes, smiling and laughing as the small man screamed.
“Shoot her! He must be taken back to the chair immediately after this!”
Bucky kept his gun raised, but instead of at the woman, he shifted it over to the man that held her. He quickly pulled the trigger, killing the man before lowering his gun and knocking out the man he was suppose to guard.
“Go!” She screamed, her body dropping to the floor along with the man that held her. “I can’t leave just yet. Go. Remember everything, and you’ll know what to do.”
His eyes stayed widened, showing his shock and concern despite his face being hidden behind a mask. He slowly nodded, turning around and running away.
He took out anyone in his way, running hallway after hallway until he finally found an exit. He ran out of the compound, out of the fenced in area, and out there completely.
He didn’t know where he was, all he knew was he had to get away. He didn’t know what to do quite yet, but he knew he had to find Steve Rogers. He knew his name was James, but he didn’t know who he was. He knew they would come for him, and he knew he would eventually come back, but he didn’t stop. He ran, and he didn’t stop.
He didn’t stop until his legs gave out, and when they finally did, he was for certain he was out of their reach.
'Cause I wanna touch you, baby, and I wanna feel you, too. I wanna see the sunrise and your sins, just me and you. Light it up, on the run. Let's make love, tonight Make it up, fall in love, try.
He woke up with sweat patching off his skin, his heart beat fast. He groaned, rolling onto his side to make the cheap mattress on the floor somewhat comfortable.
The same dream. He always had the same fucking dream. It was the girl from Hydra, and she made his heart fasten like it never has before. She was so beautiful, and it made him feel like his life was always perfect. She made him forget about the many missions he was sent on that resulted in blood. Her smile made his smile, and he hadn’t smiled for years.
She would climb on top of him, laugh and tease him. The room surrounding her was bright colors that created such a loving mood. It was a beautiful environment, but not as beautiful as she was.
Then it would cut to something he dreaded. They both were running, running from something he feared. He would run aside her with fear and adrenaline pumping through his veins. He may have fearer whatever was chasing them, but she didn’t. He would look over, and she would laugh during each step. Her smile calmed him, and no matter how much she struggled to run and keep up, she would smile. Then the dream would cut.
It would end with her next to him, laying bare with her limbs intertwined with his. The blanket would rap her enough to not be exposing, but enough for him to admire her form. He would watch her peacefully sleep. He studied and admired the way her body silently inhaled and exhaled, her plump pink lips parted right next to his.
He watched as he eyes moved underneath her eyelids. Her arms would grip onto the sheet above his body, screaming for help. His calm state would sky rocket, blood seeping through the silk sheets covering her body as she screamed the three words that echoed through his head before he jolted awake.
“Please, help me.”
But you'll never be alone. I'll be with you from dusk till dawn. Baby, I'm right here
It had been a week since he escaped, and every night since then, he’d have the same dream. He didn’t know who she was, or what her purpose was. He didn’t know for a while, but the his dreams turned from fantasy to memories.
He pulled the cheap blanket over his rough mattress, preparing to relive the dream he longed and dreaded. This time though, it was different.
He was in his old station back in the Hydra compound, and in front of him sat the chair that caused him years of pain. He couldn’t move, but instead he watched the chair sit there under a dramatic spot light as if it were from the scene of a movie.
It was silent, but footsteps were heard. Soon enough, the footsteps became louder, as if they were stomping purposely onto the floor. A man came from the side of the room, his hands gripping tightly against another before slamming them into the chair. His vision blurred. After blinking a few times and rubbing his eyes, he opened them up to watching himself being strapped into a chair.
The man was him, and this wasn’t a dream. It was a memory.
He watched the metal being clamped against his skin. His face full of fear and desperation as the man stuck a piece of leather between his teeth.
After he was fully strapped in, the man threw on his coat and yelled past the door. “He’s ready.”
Heels clicked against the floor, becoming louder by the second. The man had left, and a woman had entered. She carried a tray of objects, setting them onto a small metal table before removing her glasses and walking up to Bucky. Her back faced him, he couldn’t see much of her, but he recognized her. It was the woman from the compound.
He watched as she bent down to look into his eyes, watching at how his cybernetic limb twisted and turned against the buckles holding him down. She lifted her fingers, grabbing the leather between his teeth and removing it.
“Don’t worry,” she assured, loosening the holders and placing her hand gently on his neck, “I won’t hurt you.”
“Please, help me.” he whispered, his voice shaking as he watched her eyebrows dip down, concerned and sad.
“I promise.” She grabbed the tray once again, turning around and placing it next to a sink.
He watched as she let him loose, placing her hand against his chest, telling him to stay down while she placed a single finger against her lips.
“Scream.” She whispered firmly, watching as wrinkles spread across his face.
“W-what?”
“Scream so they believe that I’m doing what I’m suppose to do.”
He nodded his head, understanding what she had meant and let out a heart-wrenching scream.
She smiled softly, watching as he leaned his head back without breaking eye contact.
“I don’t get it.” He explained, watching her sigh.
“You remember your friend, yes? It’s because they took that from you. The longer you go without this treatment, the more your memories will come back.” She pulled a necklace from the lower pocket of her white jacket, wrapping it around her fingers and holding it out to him.
“I think this belongs to you, James.” She dropped it into his rising fingers, watching as he lifted it up to his face and read the carvings into the thin metal.
“What happens the next time they send me here?” He wrapped his fingers around the necklace, setting his hand onto his lap and looking up at the mysterious woman.
“Lucky for you, I’m assigned as your doctor for a while. Unfortunately, I believe our time is up. Please, James. Do pretend like you know nothing. Pretend as if you got treatment, because one day you’ll be able to leave. One day, you’ll remember enough to tear this organization apart, and save us all.” She smiled, straightening her back and grabbing her things.
“Why me?” He questioned her again, watching her back as she began to walk away.
“Well,” She stopped, looking over her shoulder and giving the man a wink, “You’re the only one that remembers.”
She opened the doors, walking out and disappearing out of sight. He leaned his head back, exhaling before shoving the necklace into a hidden pocket.
“James B. Barnes.” He whispered to himself, watching the lights above him flicker.
We were shut like a jacket, so do your zip. We will roll down the rapids to find a wave that fits. Can you feel where the wind is? Can you feel it through? All of the windows inside this room.
His body flinched in his sleep, stopping the dream and pulling him to reality. His body was cold, not an ounce of sweat like usual. His body relaxed from his tension, melting into his mattress as if it were clouds from the sky.
He continued to look at the dark ceiling. His memories soon flooded.
His mind replayed the dream over and over, her words repeating in his head every second.
“One day, you’ll remember enough to tear this organization apart, and save us all.”
His heart sunk to the bottom of his stomach, realizing that she could be right. He hated Hydra, he hated anyone part of it, everyone but her.
She helped him, and she probably helped many others too. But she said he remembered, that meant he was special. Special enough to break out like she had said, special enough to save them all.
When she spoke, she spoke as if she was a victim too. Was she truly on the side of Hydra as she seemed? She was there under their name and under their authority. What was her purpose?
“And save us all.” The last four words of her sentence repeated constantly. Us. Save us all. She included herself, she asked him to save her.
After all his memories with her, after all his fantasies and delusions, he fell in love with her. He didn’t even know her name, but he knew he loved her. He loved the way her clothes fit against her skin, or the way she would smile and pay attention to every word he said no matter what state he was in.
He loved her, and she needed saving. As much as he was scared of Hydra, as much as he wanted to hide from them, he knew what he had to do. He knew she had to still be there, and he knew she was in trouble.
'Cause I wanna touch you, baby, and I wanna feel you, too. I wanna see the sunrise and your sins, just me and you. Light it up, on the run. Let's make love, tonight Make it up, fall in love, try.
After packing needed things, he took the regretted steps to a place he wanted to watch burn. He kept his body hidden beneath leather and cloth, walking through the darkness as he searched for the place that held the woman he needed to see.
Eventually, he found a small cabin he remember passing as soon as he escaped. He watched his surroundings, walking faster by the moment as he saw a fence that surrounded the compound.
He didn’t exactly have a plan, but he didn’t exactly need one either. Considering he didn’t have many memories, it was easy for him to remember the right turns and buildings to take in order to get to the place he was when she spoke to him.
He climbed the gate, watching out for guards as he hid behind cars and boxes as he made his way to the building.
The door he was suppose to enter had a guard next to it, which was fortunate for him because he needed a guards ID to enter the building anyways.
He swiftly snuck up next to the man, silently taking him out before stealing his card, hat and weapons. He swiped the card and entered the building with caution. He easily followed his old foot steps, watching for anyone and everyone that could possibly be in his way.
The hallways were eerily silent as he traveled through them, his senses searching out for anything as he stayed in guard.
Soon enough, he heard voices. He slowly and quietly walked toward the door he heard voices from, peaking through the window placed on the middle of the door to see the voices belonged to.
It was the small man from before, and he was talking to one he couldn’t recognize. Bucky placed his ear closer to the door in hopes that he could catch something important.
“It’s been a week, and you still haven’t caught the lost subject?” The unknown man spoke down to the other one, watching as the other smiled awkward and shook his hands in reassurance.
“N-no, no! You mustn’t confused it all. We know what area he’s at, we just don’t know what his exact coordinates are. We will find him soon, I’m sure of it.” His eyes closed, creating creases around his face as he tried to make the other man know it was going to be dealt with.
“Very well, and the girl?” He set papers down on the desk, turning his back and stroking his chin.
“I’ve gotten all the information I needed from her,” he took a deep breath, removing his glasses and looking at the papers. “I’m just waiting for the others to get back to me on her status.”
“What exactly did you do to her again?” He turned around, a small wicked smile plastered onto his face.
“Well, she took away the treatment to sooth the serum and memories of that winter soldier, I only thought it would be fair if I gave her what she took.”
Bucky felt his heart drop, his feet freezing as he realized where she was. He quickly ducked from the window, looking each way down the hall before starting to the place she was destined to be.
The room with the chair.
But you'll never be alone. I'll be with you from dusk till dawn. Baby, I'm right here
His feet rushed toward the room, not caring about anyone around him. If anyone had come in his way, he would get rid of them. He needed to go to that room as fast as he could, so he did.
Hallway after hallway was empty, the doors all shut and silence filled the room as his legs rubbed against each other with every lunge he took.
The air continued to get heavier as he finally reach the door he recognized so clearly. His hand grabbed the door knob, pulling it down and shoving the door open.
He looked around the room, noticing that it hadn’t changed. Memories flooding back as he remembered the things going through his head every time he sat in the chair.
He shook his hair, getting rid of the unnecessary thoughts and spotted the girl. She was strapped up into the chair just as he was when he first met her. Her body was drenched, the clothes she once wore gone and replaced with uniform.
He ran up to her, brushing the hair out of her face as she sat there unconsciously. He quickly unstrapped her, noticing the difference in her appearance as he once remembered.
She looked bigger, more muscle surrounding her body. Her body held more weight, and her face had more structure.
Before jumping to any conclusions, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her into his arms.
“Please, help me.” her voice sent a whisper to his ear, his hands wrapping around her waist as her slightly grabbed his back.
“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.”
Go, give love to your body. It's only you that can stop it. Go, give love to your body. It’s only you that can stop it.
Her arm wrapped around his shoulder, limping her way down the hallways as her body ached each step. She was partially conscious, enough to walk with him.
His hand wrapped around her waist with the guards weapons tight in hand, heading towards the exit and preparing to take her to the place he had been staying at the past week.
The hallways remained as empty as before, but he continued to search as if they weren’t.
“I don’t understand,” Her voice was quiet, not because she didn't want to be heard but because she didn’t have the energy to speak louder. “What happened? Who are you?”
“They took your memories away from you. They did it to me too, and you helped me get them back. You helped me escape. I came back for you, but I was too late.” He continued to move forward, the tone of his voice matching up to hers as he turned into the hallway that held the room the two men were in.
“I still don’t get it.” She exhaled deeply, watching as he put a finger over his lip and quietly looked through the glass on the door. They were gone.
He sighed in relief, looking down at the girl and giving a small smile. “Funny, that’s what I said to you.”
She remained silent, trying to figure out what was going on. A sudden feeling of pain was spread through her stomach, causing her to double over and groan.
“What did they do to my body?” Tears fell out of her eyes from the pain. His other hand reach for her side, holding her completely against him as she let out the sob she hid inside for too long.
“Don’t worry. They did the same thing to me, it’ll be fine. For now, we just need to leave. After that, I’ll answer all the questions you have.” He lifted up her chin, looking into her eyes. She nodded slowly, watching the scruffy man show a glimpse of happiness before propping her onto his shoulder again.
When they reach the door, the red lights on the ceiling of the hallways started to shine. A loud siren played, locking the compound down right after he opened the door.
“We have to go, now!” He quickly picked up her legs with his other hand, darting toward the way he entered. Men swarmed the building, looking for the escaped fugitive and her companion.
“Let me help.” She climbed out of his arms, running aside him. He watched her struggle to run, her legs almost giving out each step as she continued to face forward.
She smiled, looking over at him and laughing. “Damn, I somewhat remember you, James.”
“I guess I’m not the only one that remembers, huh?”
But you'll never be alone. I'll be with you from dusk till dawn. Baby, I'm right here

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
“Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday to you! Happy birthday, to (Y/N)! Happy birthday to you!” The crowd surrounding the table and sung loudly. (Y/N)’s face had a huge smile plastered onto it. Her cheeks bright pink from embarrassment and happiness.
“Blow out the candles!” Her friend, Natasha, screamed from across the table, watching as she blew out the big ‘3’ & ‘5’ candles on the cake.
They all cheered and applauded as she pretended to bow. Soon enough, everyone came swarming in to collect their piece of cake and continuing previous conversations with the people around them.
The party was absolutely full and hectic. Almost every agent from S.H.I.E.L.D. had attended (all thanks to Tony), along with all her teammates (the Avengers), and a few relatives, but most importantly was her best friend since birth, Loki.
“You’re finally getting old. How does it feel?” Loki walked over to the birthday girl. The corner of his lips curved up, showing her a small peek of his pearly white teeth beneath his thin pink lips.
“I feel great! 1 year closer to death, right?” She smiled back, watching as he closed his eyes with a small laugh.
“Yeah, I suppose you’re not wrong. I’m glad you finally got to have a party this year. I know being an Agent and all kind of limits your ability to have get togethers.” She nodded her head, agreeing to his words and taking a bite of her cake.
“But yet again, I know you aren’t that much of a people pleaser.” He gave her a friendly smile before taking a drink from his glass.
“Having a party means I have to invite my family, and if I can go a year without seeing my family and missing out on a birthday party, it’s a done deal.” He looked across the room, spotting her sister and watching at how she move her hands dramatically in an attempt of making the story she was telling more interesting.
“Yeah, your family wasn’t really the best people around Asgard, were they?” (Y/N)’s eyes lingered across the room with Loki’s, both staring at the devil dressed in Prada.
Her sisters eyes shifted over from her current conversation, noticing the two looking at her before waving and giving a smile.
“Fuck!” (Y/N) whispered, looking at Loki in panic as her sister said her goodbyes to the people she was talking to and made her way across the room.
“Man, oh man!” She screamed over the crowd, eyeing both of their outfits and grinning hugely. “I never see you guys separated. Are you married yet?”
“No, she actually is dating someone.” They both faked a laugh, pretending to enjoy the conversation.
“Actually, no. I’m not. He was a no show, and blocked me on, like, everything.” (Y/N) watched her sister laugh in her face, her eyes growing with anger as her sister doubled over.
“You never were good with men, were you (Y/N)?” She placed a hand on (Y/N)’s shoulder, giving her a wink and continuing to laugh obnoxiously.
Loki looked over, noticing the change of moods in his best friend. His eyebrows dipped in concern, watching at how her sister ruined her birthday in little over three seconds.
“Actually-“
“What happened to Daniel? Or the one after that, Antonio? Oh! What was the other ones name...” She cut Loki off, placing a finger on her chin and looking up at the ceiling as if the answer to her question was written there. “Oh! Cole! Yeah, what happened to them?”
“(Y/S/N), please-“
“Oh!” This time she cut off (Y/N), smiling brightly because she ‘remembered’ every reason to why the mysterious men left her sister life.  “First one was a cheater, the second one moved away because he valued his job more than you, and the last one slept with your old best friend and then married her! Oh, and this one just blocked you randomly! What’s next, suicide?”
She doubled over with laughter at her own joke, still having her hand placed on (Y/N)’s shoulder. Tears began to grow in (Y/N)’s eyes as she watched her sister laugh at her expense.
She set the plate onto the nearby counter before storming off to her room down the hallway. She continued to walk away, letting the tears fall as her sister laughed louder and louder per step.
“Always was the crybaby, were you (Y/N)? Always blaming your problems are you perfect older sister, when you’re the one who creates them all!” She shouted as (Y/N) officially left the room, still laughing even after she was gone.
“You don’t know what she’s capable, (Y/S/N). Trust me, you’ll regret this.” Loki firmly threatened her, watching as her eyes dropped cold but soon filled with an evil look once again.
Loki set his things down, following after his best friend in hopes to catch her before she isolated herself completely. His feet followed the footsteps (Y/N) took moments before, arriving through her door and busting through, not wasting his time with knocking.
He wanted to comfort her, but he also had a secret to tell her. He didn’t want to ever tell her this, but after the conversation with her sister, he felt guilty. Loki rarely felt guilty, so when he does, it has to really mean something.
(Y/N) was his best friend. She had her birthday ruined by her sister, all because of her unfortunate events with dating. She probably thought she was cursed by the way men treated her, but little did she know that the curse was caused by her best friend.
“(Y/N).” Loki walked into her room, inching away from her bed as she sat with her knees to her chest. He couldn’t see her face, but he could practically hear her heart breaking.
He stood there silently, waiting for her to collect her thoughts and have her usual outbursts. He knew her well enough to know that any second she would start screaming, and like he expected, she did.
“I always fucking lose it around her! Why? I honestly feel like if that were anyone else that I would have handled it nicely, but it was her! It was fucking family! I can never hold it against them. She makes fun of me for who I am, but she’s the one who shaped me into my pathetic self!” She stood up, ranting while pacing around the room. He hesitantly stood as he watched her run her hands through her hair with frustration, fresh tears still stained on her face.
“(Y/N)-“
“Is it a soft spot? Is that it? Loki, I tell my business to nobody but you! If anyone would know, you would! Tell me, please, is my sister my weakness? Am I truly afraid of her? Do I care about her opinions more than anyone else? Why do I let her get to me?” She stopped in front of Loki for a moment, staring at his frozen state while rambling with question. Without giving him a moment to respond, she sighed heavily before continuing to pace around the room. “Ugh!”
“(Y/N), there’s something-“ He spoke up once more, only to be cut off again.
“God, this is why I don’t have parties! Why? Because it always ends up like this. Word gets to Thor, and he gets it to Asgard, and then my family figures out and then they ask why they aren’t invited and then I feel obligated to invite-“
“(Y/N)!” He screamed her name, pinching the bridge of his nose as he watched her tense up by his voice, looking in his direction with shock. “There’s something I have to tell you.”
“Okay.” She responded shortly, furrowing her eyebrows in confusing, trying to think of what he could possibly want to tell her in the moment.
“Remember when we were young, and we made a promise to each other?” He raised his hand, showing the ring placed onto his middle finger. “You gave me this ring that belonged to your father after he passed. I gave you a necklace that Frigga gave to me as a gift to the person I thought would mean most to me.”
She nodded her head, pulling the necklace from under her shirt. “What about it?”
“We promised that — Look, we were both isolated growing up, and I get it if this meant nothing to you or if it was a joke, but it wasn’t to me. We promised that if neither of us got,” He sighed at his words, placing his hand across his eyes and closing them. “We promised that if neither of us got married by the age of 35, we’d marry each other.”
“What are you trying to say, Loki?” She set her arms down to her sides, squinting her eyes at her best friend with confusion.
“I’m the reason why you never find love! I baited Daniel to cheat, and might I add that he wasn’t even intoxicated! He did it himself. It was easy.” He shouted defensively at the end of his words, looking dead into her eyes.
“The second one, Antonio, got the promotion because he was the next one in line for a high job across the nation. All I had to do was injure the man who currently had it,” He took a deep breath before continuing, staring at the ceiling with a thoughtful look as if he was concentrating. “And Cole was a tough one, but it was easy once I saw the way your friend looked at him. I just put them in a situation that included both of them secluded in a somewhat romantic environment, and bam, he was all over her. Real dick he was.”
He paused for a moment, letting the small smile slide off his face as he looked down at the woman before him. She was staring at him with a blank expression, standing firmly with no sense of emotion running through her body.
“You find this funny?”
“How you date pretty pathetic men? Yes. How I hurt you? No. That’s why I’m confessing now, (Y/N)-“
“You fucking did this to me! All this time I thought there was something wrong with me! I get told I’m not worth it, I get told I’m nothing compared to other woman or job opportunities! All this time I thought my sister what right. I thought I was truly flawed and unlovable, but it was you. It was you the whole time! I wasn’t flawed and unlovable, you were.” She screamed at the top of her lungs, pointing at him every time he was mentioned. His eyes widened only to close shut, allowing her hurtful words to hit him straight on.
She was right. He was what she described, but she was wrong when she said it was entirely his fault. Sure, he did cause most of them to happen, but if those men truly loved her, they wouldn’t have taken the options he had provided them. Did he force them to cheat or leave? No. He just simple baited them, and they took it. But of course, he wasn’t going to tell her that. He didn’t want to piss her off more, because she had every right to blame him. They wouldn’t have been given choices if it weren’t for him, so it was overall his fault, just not entirely.
He did it because he was flawed, but so was she. That’s why he loved her so much. That’s why he wasted years of his life making men not even glance at her. Just for some stupid little promise he made when he was younger.
Tears began to stream down her face again, breaking his heart even more because it was yet another thing blamed on his behalf. Her hand rubbed across her damp face, tears pouring out one after another. She opened her eyes, shaking her head and headed towards the door. She didn’t know what to do, and like all fight or flight experiences that include the ones she loved, she picked flight.
“(Y/N), please. Just let me explain.” He pleaded, watching as she stop to turn with a dry laugh.
“Explain what? How fake you were every time I cried on your chest when I went through a heart-break? Ones you caused? No, Loki. You fucked up.”
He watched as his most treasured relationship ruined there before him, his cheeks became hot, the feeling of wetness spread across the crease in his eyes. His mouth hung open, speechless as he watched her standing there, waiting for a response.
She scoffed, turning back around to leave once again only to be stopped by the words that have been haunting him for years.
“I’ve always loved you, but I knew you’d never love me back. That’s why I did all those horrible things. That’s why I hung onto our childish promise from years ago. I did it because I didn’t have anyone caring for me but you. I did it because you always had someone looking at you in a sexual way just for their own beneficial pleasure, when I just wanted to spend time with you! I’m sorry, (Y/N). I’m sorry I hurt you, but please don’t tell me that you didn’t see the worse in them! I did, and I knew it’d never work out. That’s why I hated seeing you in those relationships. Because I’d never take you for granted the way they did. Because you’re all I have, (Y/N). And I’m pretty sure I just lost that.”
His head hung low, tears flooding across his porcelain skin as his voice cracked in his words. His hands continuously wiped his damp skin, only to return moments later to wipe the new fresh tears. He didn’t move, he just stood there with his hands covering his face. She didn’t move either, she watched as she saw her best friend cry in front of her after years of hiding his emotions. She knew he wasn’t lying, because after years of knowing him, she knew that he was telling the truth when he let the guilt get to him.
She wanted to run away, and she also wanted to beat the shit out of him, but after being his friend for years, she couldn’t bring herself to it. She stood there as her best friend had a mental breakdown, watching as his whole life crumbled before her. As much as he hurt her in the past, she would never wish that pain upon him. She wouldn’t wish that upon him because she loved him too much, and she just didn’t realize that until now.
Without hesitation, she walked towards him and pulled him into a hug. He began to sob loudly, pulling her in and pressing his face into the crook of her neck.
“Please, don’t leave me.” He whispered between tears, feeling her hand run through his hair and rub his back.
He hated showing his weak side, but if it was necessary to make sure his best friend stayed by his side, he’d do it. Besides, if he were to show anyone how fragile he is inside, she’d be his first pick.
“I’d never leave you. I mean, we’re suppose to get married, right?” She laughed into his ear, feeling the vibrations through his body as he softly giggled.
She smiled at his noise, pulling slightly out of the hug to see his face. He was an absolute mess. His face was red, tears and snot going everywhere. She laughed once again, wiping his tears with the sleeve of her sweater.
“Don’t think this is me forgiving you,” She stated, watching as he slowly nodded his head. “But can we please teach my sister a lesson? It can be a birthday present.”
They both giggled, still embracing each other. He shook his head slightly, pulling a small box from his pocket. “One day we can, but I already got you a present.”
She pulled apart, looking at the little green box with a sparkly ribbon. He extended his hand, eagerly waiting for her to accept and open the gift.
Like every present, she opened it slowly before staring at the little piece of silver sitting inside of it.
“Before you get any ideas,” He spoke before she could, looking into the box along with her amazed eyes. “This isn’t me asking you to marry me anything because we just went over the whole ‘marry each other at 35’, But this is just a gift because it matches the once I have and-“
“Loki,” she smiled, pulling out the small ring with emerald engraved into it. “I’ve seen your ring before.”
“Oh, right.” He whispered, watching as she looked closely at the ring and sliding it onto her ring finger.
“I love it. Thank you, Loki,” She continued to look at the ring with amazement, watching as how it sparkled in the light. “But let’s still get married. I think you’re the only man that is willing to put up with me the rest of my life. It can be like a promise ring!”
He laughed at her words, feeling his cheek sting every time he did. His face slowly began to dry, the tight feeling from his once horrible mood suddenly drifted away as if it never happened. It’s not like he didn’t expect this to happen anyways. She always had this effect on him.
“It was our promise after all, love.”

Dear writers
You’re not a bad person for:
Saying no to requests that make you uncomfortable/you get no inspiration for
Taking a small break every now and then
Changing up your writing style to better suit you
Not posting as often or posting more than other writers
I can’t be the only one that needs a reminder of these things sometimes.

“Loki, you haven’t spoken to me in 8 days, and it’s really concerning me! I thought giving you space would help, but I guess I’m too impatient.”
After 30 minutes of searching, she found the man she called her best friend isolated in the library. He didn’t want to be found so bad that he even kept the lights off, hence why she overlooked it the first time she passed through looking for him.
“Loki! I’m not going to sit here and watch you read your fucking book! I’m trying to help! Let me!” She stood in front of his chair, watching as he licked his thumb and flipped the page.
“You’re going to have to talk to me eventually, you know? Did I do something wrong? Did I say something? Let me at least make up for it. Please, I miss you.” Her hand rubbed against her forehead, watching as his eyebrows furrowed.
She didn’t know what to do. When Loki was determined on something, he did it. She could stand there for years, but if he told himself he didn’t want to talk to her, then he wouldn’t. So, she eventually believed the only way to make him talk was to force him. Rip him from what was between them. Demolish their friendship completely. Of course, it was only to trick him though. You have to be sneaky to trick the god of mischief.
“If you don’t speak to me, don’t ever try to again. If you walk out that door, we’re through. I don’t care what you do, but if it isn’t you communicating with me, then there’s not much I can do. Just talk to me.” She watched him flip one page for the last time before giving up and starting to walk past him.
She wasn’t the one to have friends. She was just like him, alone and unloved. So, automatically they gravitated towards each other due to similarities. He was her best friend, but she did what she believed was best for the situation. She just hoped and prayed that he spoke up before she left the room, and he did.
“(Y/N),” His book clamped shut, the deepness in his voice concerning. “please don’t leave.”
She stopped dead in her tracks, turning and slowly taking steps toward his chair.
“(Y/N).” His voice repeated her name, except this time it was quiet. As if he wanted to call her out, but at the same time didn’t. She stood in front of his chair, watching as his eyes trailed to the ground.
“I’ll stay,” Her hand reach out, grabbing his and squeezing it with reassurance. “But you have to tell me what’s wrong.”
He inhaled deeply, looking up into her beautiful (Y/E/C) eyes. “Have you ever been in love?”
His voice went quiet once again, watching her every move as she hesitated, but continued to hold his hand. Was Loki in love? She kept asking herself in her head whether he was, or if it was a painful joke. Options circled into her head, running out of choices as nobody was left. Who was he in love with? She didn’t know. He didn’t talk to many people, and it was just her and Thor. Had he been hiding someone behind her back? She didn’t know.
“Yes,” She stared deeply into his blue eyes, watching as he continued to look back, desperate for her advice. “I have, but why?”
“With who?” She rolled her eyes, sighing and letting go of his hands to cross her arms.
“Why does it matter? Why do you ask?”
“I think I am. I don’t know what to do.” He leaned back into his chair, his fingers lingering over his lips in concentration.
“Well, who is it?” He didn’t answer, instead he continued to stare off into space. She groaned once again, realizing that with whatever he needed help with came with very small details. “Look, you don’t have to tell me, but I don’t understand why you are confused. Have you never read simple old love stories?”
“Not as often as you think, in Asgard, I mean. I don’t know what to do because I’ve never loved someone before. I mean sure, I have family, but that’s different. It no longer qualifies. Should I ignore it?” He continued to ramble, letting his fingertips brush lightly against his thin pink lips, his blue eyes twinkling in the small light being thrown through the window.
“Ignore it? Are you kidding me? Oh god, Loki. I don’t think it’s the fact that you’re in love, but the fact that...” She looked at the ceiling, visualizing her words and thinking of the best thing to say. “I think you’re just afraid to be happy, that’s all.”
“Afraid to be happy? How?” His thick eyebrows furrowed, letting wrinkled run across his flawless skin as he focused his gaze on the standing woman before him.
“You’re not used to it. I don’t blame you, really. Give it a try though, it’s a wonderful feeling. I bet it’s even more wonderful when the other person has mutual feelings.” She spoke clearly, watching as he took in ever word and over-analyzed them.
“And... you saying that means you’ve never met someone with mutual feelings? I’m just assuming because you said that you would ‘bet’, meaning you’d also assume-“
“Yes, Loki.” She laughed lightly. “I’ve never met someone who shared the same feelings to me as I do them. It’s a complicated process. Well, for me I guess.”
The room went silent, letting them both think in their own minds, trying to find out the best solution for themselves. Solution as in who the hell Loki could possibly be in love with, or the fact of Loki wondering if the special one felt the same for him.
“So,” She spoke quietly, watching as his eyes flicker to hers. “They might like you back. You could just ask, you know.”
He voice had a hint of sadness in it, alarming him and setting into a full on protection mode. It may seem dramatic, but little did he know that she liked him. She liked him more than she liked herself.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t understand why you’d ignore me over that.” She spoke quietly, watching as his eyes refused to leave hers.
“Is that why you’re upset with me?” She laughed at his words cold-heartily. She felt as if she was so obvious, and that he was doing this all as a joke. She felt hurt and betrayed, and as stupid as that sounds, it’s how she felt and, she couldn’t change that.
“God, Loki! You’re so dumb! So oblivious! I’m upset because I think I’m in love with you, and that scares the crap out of me! I know I may sound selfish because you think you love someone else and I’m getting mad over it, but why ignore me over that? I don’t care if you don’t feel the same way. I just want my best friend to rely on me and not isolate themselves. Look, Loki...”
She raised her hand and balanced it on her forehead, closing her eyes and sighing. “I’m sorry. I probably just made this all worse. It’s not about me, sorry. Just.... please don’t ignore me anymore. I’m here to help.”
Her hand continued to rub her closed eyes, not daring to look at Loki. She had embarrassed herself. All because she was jealous. She felt pathetic, and the longer the silence filled the room, the more she continued to hate herself.
Nothing was said. She continued to stand there, listening to her heart beating through her body. Her breath began to pace up, waiting for something to take her out of her misery. As if he was reading her mind, or if he could hear her fast heart-beat, he stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist. Softening to his touch, she relaxed in his arms and rested onto his chest.
She synced her heart with his, still standing in silence while they embrace each other. A single tear rolled down her eyes from anger and embarrassment.
After a few moments, he pulled away and looked into her eyes. His eyebrows dipped in concern, his eyes watching her shiny ones.
“I’m in love with-“
“Please don’t.” She quickly cut him off, covering her face with his chest. “Just don’t. Not right now, I’m not ready.”
“(Y/N).” He pulled her chin up to his, staring into her eyes once again, trying to read her for a second time.
“What?” Her eyes began to water again. She was embarrassed, heart-broken, anything you could think of. She didn’t want to hear who he was in love with. She needed time. She needed time to realize the man she loves, loved someone else. Little did she know, he had already told her who he was speaking about.
“I already told you. I said I’m in love with (Y/N). It’s you. It’s always been you.”
