Chapter 7

Every now and then, Uraraka glares at Katsuki when they all are together having lunch in the cafeteria; Izuku knows it's only a warning and that it'll pass as soon as she realizes his boyfriend doesn't have bad intentions.

The word boyfriend still makes him flustered; he can feel Katsuki's hand in his, and his leg pressed against him under the table. Izuku likes it; he likes to feel close to Katsuki and enjoys the way he softly stares at him.

He also enjoys the way Katsuki's friends tease him about their relationship.

"Midoriya, I'm telling you... you can ask this one whatever you want and he'll do it because he's so whipp–"

"Shut up, dunce face!"

"Kacchan, don't be mean to your friend!"

"Tch, fine!"

"See? I was right!"

Ashido leans closer to her boyfriend Kirishima and starts laughing as Izuku intertwines his fingers with Katsuki to calm him down; he can see Iida and Uraraka holding back their smiles, but she fails miserably and starts chuckling too.

Izuku knows she's beginning to welcome Katsuki into their friend group, which is a win in Izuku's mind.

He rests his head over Katsuki's shoulder and the blond can't help but look at him with a very fond expression on his face.

Despite being an anxious person, Izuku feels for the first time like this is going to work after all, and he purposely ignores the part of his brain that tells him it's too early to think something like that.

"Would you like to go to the school dance with me, Izuku?"

"Yes, Kacchan!" He beams, already excited about it; he can't wait to dance with Katsuki and have a good time with him.

Ashido and Uraraka look at each other intently, like they're having a silent conversation before they lean closer to Izuku.

"You know what that means, right?" Ashido asks with a smirk that makes Izuku nervous for a moment.

"We have to go back to the shopping center again!" Uraraka says excitedly. Izuku visibly relaxes and can't help but giggle at them.

Katsuki leans next to him and gives him a quick kiss on his curls; it makes him turn bright red in seconds.

"Bakubro is actually a besotted boyfriend. Who would've thou–"

"SHUT UP!" He cuts Kirishima off, turning almost as red as Izuku.

They all burst into laughter again while Izuku gives Katsuki a kiss on the cheek in return.

Turns out the girls don't want Katsuki during their shopping trip with Izuku. They say it's better if the other boy doesn't see his outfit until the day of the school dance.

"Don't worry, we'll help you pick something that will make him fall in love with you all over again!" Ashido assures him, making Izuku blush.

Uraraka chuckles and pulls her friend into a hug; at least she's not rolling her eyes at the idea of him going out with Katsuki anymore.

"Do you have an idea in mind?"

Izuku feels shy out of the sudden; his face turns slightly pink before he covers it with both hands.

"I was thinking about a dress. A light pink dress," he mumbles behind his own hands. "Do you think it'll suit me? I don't want to look ridiculous."

"You'll look beautiful," Uraraka assures him with a certainty that makes him smile.

"Of course you'll look absolutely gorgeous," Ashido says, patting Izuku's head a couple of times. "You always look good in the cheerleader's uniform after all! Now let's go! I know just the shop for you!"

Turns out the problem is not finding just one dress like that, the problem is that there are too many dresses that look so cute, Izuku is not sure which one he should pick.

However, both girls help him try a couple and give him their honest opinion on each one; in the end, Izuku falls in love with an a-line dress that has pink petals all over the lower part of it.

"You look like Persephone!" Ashido giggles, making Izuku shake his head and get flustered for the third time of the day.

"I do not!" He says; he has always loved that myth.

"You kinda do," Uraraka observes, staring at him with a serious expression. "Let's get him a floral tiara to match with the dress!"

"You're a genius, Ura!" The girl with the pink hair comments, dragging Izuku outside that shop and into a new one.

They end up exhausted, but Izuku has so much fun.

The hag starts freaking out about the dance, which is why Katsuki didn't want to tell her, but he knew if he didn't she wouldn't stop yelling at him for not requesting a suit from her and his Dad.

"The guy must be a saint to agree to go to the school dance with a brat like you," her voice comes out from Katsuki's phone and he's more than glad that they're doing this over a call.

"I'm really happy for you," Masaru says, because his father is actually a very nice person.

"Thanks, I guess," Katsuki mumbles, turning slightly pink just by thinking about his nerd. Damn he's really down bad. "Why do you think it's a guy?"

"Because you're gay, brat. You have never been interested in girls."

She's absolutely right so he decides he's not even going to make another comment about it.

"Does he have a name?"

Why are they so embarrassing? Katsuki groans... it's okay the quicker he tells them the faster this whole thing is over...

"Do you remember Izuku?"

"Ha!" Mitsuki laughs in the background; Katsuki knows her so well he can practically see her knowing smirk despite they're only talking over the phone. "Pay up, Masaru!"

"WHAT? YOU COULDN'T POSSIBLY KNOW ABOUT THIS–"

"STOP YELLING, BRAT!"

"We're happy for you," his father assures him. "We had the feeling you were going to see him again or at least we hoped, because you were so in lo–"

"SHUT UP, JUST SEND THE FUCKING SUIT!"

"Yeah, yeah, brat... but after the school dance you're going to bring sweet Izuku here to have dinner with us, alright?"

"I suppose..." Katsuki grumbles, feeling a little bit pleased that his parents are eager to see the nerd again.

"Great, can't wait to see that cutie again! Don't ruin this, brat, I've always wanted to have a sweet and cute son-in-law."

"STOP!"

He's definitely going to wait a while before taking Izuku to his parents' house.

Izuku w/ a drop dead gorgeous s/o

A/N: I was gonna add Katsuki too, but Izuku's got pretty long, so I'll probably put his in a separate post.

Despite training to be a hero, his self-esteem isn't the highest. So he has no idea why someone as stunning as you would want to date him.  When he asked you out he was kinda expecting you to reject him. But you didn't.  Receiving kisses from you makes him red, especially if he's around his classmates or friends. He loves forehead kisses. They're so sweet and comforting and he likes the feeling of you brushing his bangs out of the way. Whenever you walk into the room (especially when it's early in the relationship,) his cheeks get a little pink, and he has to take a moment to collect himself. You're just so attractive he can't help it. He's aware of the looks you get, and it doesn't really bother him. But if someone is being weird or making you uncomfortable then he gets frustrated and a little jealous. There are times where he questions your attraction towards him. He doesn't feel like he's handsome enough to even be seen with you… But you quickly notice that something is off, and you ask him about it. He's hesitant at first to tell you, but he does. And he feels a lot better when you reassure him that you love him for who he is, and not anyone else. He loves seeing your gorgeous face every time he opens his phone. Especially when you haven't seen each other in a while. Your voice too. He loves hearing you talk. It's like music to his ears and it calms him. But he actually gets surprised and a little flustered when you comment on the things he's ranting about.  He's used to people tuning him out, so it's a pleasant surprise when you listen to him. And the look on your face makes him feel so loved. A small smile on your lips, and your eyes completely focused on him. At first it made him nervous, having your undivided attention for such a long time.  He wanted to impress you with the new things he had learned, that he'd start stuttering and tripping over his words. Eventually he becomes comfortable enough to be cuddling with you while he rants. He really likes when you play with his hair. Especially when he's having a rough day. He’ll gladly do the same for you, he loves the feeling of your hair between his fingers. Around others he might seem like he's overly clingy, but he isn't.  He's very clear with boundaries, and he'd never do anything to make you uncomfortable. He'll ask to hold your hand or simply touch you.  Your boundaries are very important to him. And if someone else crosses your boundaries, he'll be quick to tell them to back off and stop bothering you.  He loves going shopping with you and he really thinks you look good in anything.  He wants to see you in the clothes you love and are comfortable in. He can't deny that the first time he saw you out of your school uniform, he was absolutely blown away at how stunning you looked in your clothes of choice. Every time you kiss him he's amazed at how soft your lips are. He sometimes feels bad though because his lips are often dry and chapped. But when you tell him that it doesn't make a difference and you love kissing him no matter what, he feels better. He might end up coming to you and asking about what chapstick is most effective. He just kinda assumes you know because your lips are so soft and smooth.  During longer kisses he'll occasionally grab your sleeves or arms.  Your kisses practically break him, so he has to hold onto you so he can ground himself and not fall over… You don't mind though. It's honestly kinda cute. If you cup his face or play with his hair during a kiss, he might just melt in the spot.  He's so thankful to have someone as amazing as you as his partner.  He loves you so much.

Steve and Robin have been working at the plant nursery for months. It was the only job that would hire them both, and it's honestly been the best job they've had.

Steve loves taking care of the plants, loves the way the outdoor plants wave at him in the wind and sparkle in the sunlight after he's watered them. No one gives him weird looks when he talks to the plants because everyone that comes in understands, they're all plant people too, they know talking to plants is hard to resist. Steve loves that they are very good listeners, especially the ferns in the back corner of the nursery. They brush their long arms against Steve's cheek and make him feel so much better after he's finished dumping all his problems on the poor plant.

And then they get a new employee, a guy with long curly hair and too many tattoos and piercings for Steve to count. His name is Eddie. And he does not have a green thumb. Not at all.

Steve can't understand why the nursery hired this guy! He's hopeless!

Steve watches in horror from behind his beloved ferns as Eddie accidentally chops the head off one of the gorgeous rose blooms while pruning and then tries to hide the evidence. He walks away from the rose bush with the poor chopped off bloom clenched tightly in his fist and then he dumps it in the compost bin.

Steve spends the rest of the afternoon glaring at the new guy while talking to the poor rose bush. Eddie flushes a shade of red similar to the rose he murdered any time Steve looks at him, and Steve hates how pretty he looks, hates that it causes a small smile to pull at his lips.

And then Eddie drops a watering can on a peace lily, a peace lily that Steve spent weeks nurturing back to life and the spell Eddie put on him with his flushed cheeks and big, brown eyes is broken.

Robin pities the poor new guy, she can see he's struggling, so she just makes him do all the heavy lifting with her. She doesn't want him anywhere near Steve's precious plants. She saw Steve reach for his giant pruning shears a few days ago when Eddie went near his ferns.

"You know he's terrified of you." Robin says to Steve on their joint lunch break. They're sitting on a stack of soil bags watching Eddie potter around and show people the plants they're looking for. Steve will give him that, he's good with people. Really good.

"Why? I'm nice." Steve takes a bite of his sandwich and avoids Robin's stare. He knows she's giving him the 'don't bullshit me' stare and if he looks, he'll crumble and do something ridiculous like admit he has been kinda mean to the new guy and that he should have just helped him out from the start instead of threatening to chop his fingers off every time he touched Steve's plants.

Steve sighs. "OK, fine. I've been a dick." Robin nods and steals the last bite of Steve's sandwich.

"Now, make it right and play nice with the pretty boy."

"He's not pretty."

"That's not what you said to your precious ferns yesterday. I think you said –" Steve walks off before she can finish and ignores her laughter as he stalks over to where Eddie is crouched in front of the baby succulents.

Steve clears his throat to get his attention and the poor guy jumps in fright and nearly smacks a succulent off the stand. "Steve! Hi! I was just talking to them. I promise."

Steve stifles a laugh and sits down on the floor in front of the low plant stand. He gently pulls a dead leaf off one plant before offering Eddie a smile, a truce. "That's good. They like it when you talk to them. I actually sing to them when I'm here alone." His sudden gentleness must spook Eddie because he just blinks at Steve, his mouth open slightly as he stares in disbelief that Steve actually just spoke to him.

"You can sing?" Eddie sits down next to him and mirrors Steve's actions; gently pulling dead leaves off and checking the soil.

"No, I can't." He laughs. "But the plants don't seem to mind."

They sit in silence for a minute before Steve gathers up his small pile of dead leaves and stands up, Eddie follows suit. "I'm sorry I've been such a dick." Steve rushes out before he loses the courage to admit it. "It's just... you're awful with plants."

Eddie laughs, the sound catches Steve off guard and echoes around the nursery, and Steve realises in that moment that he's never heard Eddie laugh before. It's loud and beautiful and Steve wants to hear it again. Every day.

"I know. I don't have a green thumb at all, but this is the only job that would take me. I think the plants want me to quit."

Steve wanted him to quit. He'd grumbled to Robin about it nearly every day. Eddie knew that and he still stayed. He smiles at Steve in a way that says he doesn't mind, he's just teasing.

But Steve still feels like a total asshole.

"I could teach you how to look after them properly." Steve offers. "I should have offered to help weeks ago." He adds on quietly as they walk through the rows and rows of plants. Steve touches all of them gently, he grazes his fingers along their leaves in a friendly greeting.

"I'd like that. I'd like that a lot." Eddie says with a smile so bright it could rival the sun and cause all of the flowers to bloom.

They spend nearly every day at work together after that. Steve helps Eddie learn all the plants' names, their technical names and the secret names Steve's given them all. Steve shows him how to prune and shape the baby hedges and tries not to blush when their fingers touch while passing over the shears. Eddie is a fast learner. He absorbs everything Steve says and then executes it perfectly. He looks over at Steve and smiles excitedly after he successfully prunes the rose bush without chopping a single bloom off.

The more time they spend together, the more Steve becomes aware of the feeling blooming in his chest. It tickles his ribs and causes him to blush and bump shoulders with Eddie more often, causes him to tuck a stray piece of hair behind Eddie's ear and brush his hand along Eddie’s back whenever he passes him.

The new bloom in his heart causes him to kiss Eddie in the back corner of the nursery behind the ferns.

Turns out Eddie has a green thumb after all because there is something so beautiful blooming between them, and so far only the ferns know about it.

The next day, you got up with more enthusiasm than usual. You decided on a nice light breakfast of (fav fruit) so you could save your appetite for lunch with Wally.

After last night, you couldn't seem to get him out of your mind. Even when you finally managed to fall asleep, you dreamt of him.

Dreams of more dates, of gentle kisses as you watched the sunset, of cuddles and movies and snacks under a cozy blanket...

What was happening to you? You were positive you'd never been so lovesick before...

It was even hard for you wait until lunchtime that day. Instead of your usual hobbies to pass the time, you found yourself staring at the clock and fidgeting. You tried to keep yourself busy, but couldn't seem to focus on any of the books or tv shows you tried to watch. It all just came back to the agonizingly slow ticking of the clock on the wall.

But finally...FINALLY it was time to start getting ready, and you practically jumped off the couch to get started.

Eventually you stood in your kitchen, waiting for Wally to arrive. Not a hair out of place, not a single wrinkle in your clothing, and not a clue what you would do when he actually showed up. Wally always seemed to fluster you, and you didn't want to be fumbling over yourself on a date with him, of all things! What would he think?!

Your anxious thoughts were interrupted by a knock at the door. Taking a deep breath, you made your way as gracefully as possible to the door to answer it.

And there he was. Wearing a red suit and holding a very colorful bouquet of flowers in his hands, he smiled at you with that calm expression he always seemed to have.

"(Y/n), you look..."

Oh heavens...there it was again, that warmth within him. You looked absolutely, positively, wonderfully....

"Perfect..." he breathed, his eyes taking in your full form. He realized after a few beats that he was staring, and shifted his eyes up to your blushing face instead.

You shyly looked down at your shoes and squirmed under his gaze.

"Ah, golly...stop it or I'll melt. You look breathtaking in a suit too, Wally..."

You could absolutely cut the romantic tension with a knife at this point, it hung so heavily in the air. Suddenly, Wally remembered the flowers.

"Oh, I got you these! I can't lie, they were Barnaby's suggestion...I don't know much about dates. I've never been on one before"

He held them out to you, and you took them catefully, your fingers brushing his for a moment. You glanced at each other and then bashfully looked away again.

"They're gorgeous! I-I better get them in a vase so they last a long time! I'll only be a moment.."

Wally came in to wait while you rummaged in the kitchen cabinet for a nice vase to put your flowers in.

Looking around your living room, he noticed a few pictures hung up of you with some people he didn't recognize...including a man you seemed particularly close with.

His eye twitched.

"Say, (y/n), who are these fine folks in these pictures with you?"

"Hm? Oh! Those are some of my friends back home!"

You came back to the living room, having found a suitable vase for the flowers and displayed them on your kitchen table. You noticed Wally looking at one picture in particular and smiled.

"Ah, that's me and my cousin! That was a fun summer..."

Suddenly, the anger clouding Wally's mind evaporated. He realized his stare was about to break the glass of the picture frame, and he looked away, straightening his tie and smiling at you.

"Well, I'm sure living here will give you plenty new memories to hang on the wall"

You nodded.

"I'm sure it will, too. Hey, I'll grab my camera and maybe you and I can take one!"

A picture with him? To hang on your wall?

Though Wally had no heart, he was almost positive he felt one skip a beat in his chest as he thought about you displaying him among your closest friends and family. Was he really that important to you?

He watched you pack your camera away in the basket, and picked it up before you could. You looked up at him questioningly, but he just smiled and offered you his arm.

"I'll carry it. Come on, there's a lot to see!"

Wally brought you all around town, pointing out spots of interest and naming off which neighbors lived in which houses. Several of them were outside as you went by, and you got to meet them finally.

Julie was absolutely ecstatic to meet you! She gave you a lovely yellow flower from her garden and offered to come over and do your hair one day.

Frank was cold at first, but when you complimented his bowtie and expressed interest in the book he was reading, he warmed up and said you could come by for book discussion and tea anytime.

Alternatively, Barnaby was warm immediately! He was proud to see his best buddy on a date with such a pretty and polite new neighbor, and he told you some of his best jokes. And it was nice to meet the guy who gave Wally all that date advice!

Howdy was outside sweeping when you came by, and shook your hand with 2 of his. When he learned of your plans to have a picnic, he gave you a couple of the cookies he had just gotten in stock. On the house! And told you to come by the shop anytime you needed anything.

Eddie wasn't at the post office, but you did cross paths later on your walk. He tipped his hat and introduced himself, but seemed to get distracted when he spotted Frank catching butterflies across the street, and quickly excused himself, stumbling over his own feet on the way. You asked Wally what was up with him, and he chuckled.

"Eddie and Frank are...well...fond of each other"

"Ohh!" you said as it finally clicked in your mind.

"They are cute together, aren't they?"

You looked at Wally shyly.

"Cuter than us?"

His face flushed bright red.

"Nothing is cuter than you, dearest~ Why, you're the loveliest thing I've ever laid eyes on~"

You giggled teasingly, but felt his arm wrap around your waist as you continued on your walk. Your face grew warm for the millionth time since you met him, but you managed to at least lean your head against his shoulder in return.

Eventually, you arrived at the picnic spot. It was shady and private and the grass was soft.

"This is where I like to paint sometimes. I love Home and the neighbors and all...but sometimes quiet and solitude is nice as well"

You nodded as you grabbed the blanket from the basket and spread it out.

"That makes sense. I like my alone time too, but...for some reason I never need a break from you, Wally" you admitted, looking away shyly.

He was silent for a beat, then chuckled and plopped down onto the blanket. You moved to sit across from him, but he unexpectedly took your hands and guided you to sit in his lap. He kissed your hands and gazed up at you like you were the most divine thing he had ever seen.

Because you were.

"I could never get tired of you either. You've given my life meaning again"

Your eyes widened and sparkled at his words. You were speechless until one of his hands came up to caress your cheek. You leaned into his hand, and he smiled.

"Could I..?"

"Oh, please do.."

And he did.

Warmth spread through your body, right to your very soul. Everything around the two of you seemed to fade away until even the chirping of the birds was fuzzy and distant. You weren't sure how long the kiss lasted, but when Wally did pull away, he sighed.

"If you aren't mine after this, I'll surely die.."

You smiled, leaning your forehead against his.

"Looks like the show must go on, Mr. Darling"

A giddy grin spread across his face and he attacked your face and neck with joyful kisses.

When you two were finished kissing and flirting, you decided to finally have your lunch. There were a few apple-based dishes, but to Wally's surprise, he liked everything! He had always been a picky eater; rarely trying new things and only eating when he absolutely had to, but soon he found a whole new world of foods he liked. Sandwiches, cookies, watermelon...they were all delightful! Who knew!

Of course, he only took bites when you weren't looking. He wasn't ready to tell you how he ate yet, and he didn't want to scare you off. So instead, he would lift the food to his mouth before blinking, just to seem more realistic.

But you were too dazed from all the kisses and your new boyfriend to notice or care.

Boyfriend...oh, the thought made you shudder with excitement! And he was so sweet and marvelous, you never wanted your time with him to end. You'd never met anyone you didn't eventually need space from, but you were positive you would be quite content to sit on this blanket under this tree with him forever, holding hands and making jokes and eating yummy food...

But eventually, the sun started to go down and it was time to pack up. Wally helped you put everything away, and suddenly you spotted your camera at the bottom of the basket.

"Oh, hey! Let's take that picture before we go"

Wally seemed excited for it, and pulled you back into his lap. You took several pictures; your faces together smiling, your lips to his cheek, making bunny ears over the top of his pompadour, and a few kissing ones. You made sure to snap two of each so he could have one, then tucked your camera away in the basket again. You spread out the photos on the blanket at smiled at him.

While you waited for them to develop, you both laid down to watch the clouds.

"Ooh! That one looks like a flower!" you exclaimed, pointing to it. Wally hummed in agreement.

"I think that one is a car"

"What? No way, it looks like a banana! And so do you!" You said, sitting up and poking his face where his nose would be.

"How's that?"

"I don't know! ...you're yellow?"

"Ha ha ha...(y/n) you're very imaginative. One of the things I love about you"

You blushed.

"Well...I love your laugh"

"I love your smile"

Silence. You slapped your hand over your mouth and sat straight up, refusing to look at him. Where did that come from?! Nervously, you waited for him to say something. Anything.

Slowly, you turned to look at him. He was sitting up now, too, and his eyes were wide.

Kiss the Bride is a yaoi webtoon about a selfish, lustful, downright mean, modern-era Duke. He is literally the psychopathic rich guy. He thinks picking things up off the ground is beneath him, but is he a good yandere? Yes. Yes, he is.

Let me save you a ton of frustration. Plenty of people dropped this one, because it's a marriage of convenience story without the wish fulfillment. A Duke marrying a regular person (and a man at that) causes issues. A trainwreck. Ten trainwrecks. The couple actually doesn't spend time together after their marriage, because they're too busy dealing with the drama their marriage causes. It takes awhile for anything romantic to happen, but it's a nice dose of reality. It also makes the yandere part better. It's not easy for the Duke to have his way, and marry his true love.

He's gotta manipulate the press and the royal family (and his unfortunate male Duchess) to do it.

Javier doesn't want to have a kid. He thinks his Ducal bloodline should end with him, and he wants to spend a sizable amount of his father's fortune on...small business loans for the poor?

Wait...he sounds like a great guy what's going on?

Javier has made ending his line his mission in life, so he decides to rope his only "poor" friend into his problems.

The royal family is forcing him to get married, so he decides to go ham. Just absolutely wreck shit. He actually messes with the economy it's nuts.

Jaewon is a gorgeous tennis player who lives in Spain. Javier's country. He attended a fancy tennis training camp with Javier and a bunch of future pros a long time ago. He was the "poor but skilled guy". Javier was impressed by him, and he needs a contract Duchess.

Why?

Well, the royal family is traditional. Affairs are fine but divorce is not an option. Divorce messes with messy things like money and honor.

Jaewon is literally the only person Javier is willing to partner up with for life, even though he has not seen Jaewon in years.

This lights a fire in him, and he starts to make a plan. A plan within a plan. Does he explain anything to Jaewon? No lol.

He is literally so insane that he doesn't care if he's platonic or romantic with Jaewon. If he has to give up his lusty bachelor life it's Jaewon or nothing. Which is completely absurd because Jaewon isn't even his friend or anything.

Jaewon is shocked when he gets a blunt, short "marry me for the money I know you want some" proposal.

Buddy. My guy. Dude. You had an epiphany and you realized you would marry someone. You've been banging supermodels for a decade, but the royal family pressed a gun to your head and you immediately decided to go grab this one guy. You could have told him that romantic junk and skipped half the plot, but whatever I guess. Being nice to your one true love is overrated.

By the way Jaewon isn't an athlete anymore. He injured his leg in a car accident so it's over. He uses weed to cope with the pain. He has no money. He's gay and he developed a crush on Javier long ago. He's still got feelings, because they did have a secret relationship. A weird one where they never discussed their feelings.

They literally snuck around at night to hang out at tennis camp.

Let me explain.

Things got crazy back at Rich Boy Tennis Camp. Javier offered to buy a French village for Jaewon. Not villa. Village. The two men also started playing tennis together at night. Both of them kept it a secret from their friends as well, because they enjoyed spending time alone together. They did it every night. They started going on day trips together and skipping training...it's a whole thing. The other campers actually do start to assume they're gay.

In a panic Jaewon denies he is gay and he says its gross.

Javier says the same after he hears Jaewon's outburst. His heart has been broken, but he moves on. Javier is too good at hiding his emotions, and he's not a nice guy in general. Both men go into the closet....kinda? Javier isn't gay. He's bisexual. He doesn't get with other men after Jaewon because he's a public figure, and being a womanizer is perfectly normal for the 1%.

Also Javier lost to Jaewon at tennis on purpose so Jaewon could have the prize money, because he's poor. This hurt Jaewon's pride terribly.

Their communication issues worsened, and the two men never reconnected until now.

Jaewon has a crush, but he's not some scrub that will just bow and do whatever Javier says.

He demands a divorce like 8 times to get Javier to change his behavior and uh...it works? It gets the job done.

Javier offers him endless money in exchange for the marriage, but Jaewon needs time to adjust.

Quick pause here.

Javier firmly believes Jaewon isn't interested in him. He just wants to give Jaewon castle access, and go straight back to his phonebook of emotionless lovers.

Jaewon is like...no...you have to help me get used to this life. No lovers for at least a year. Teach me how to be a Duchess.

Javier agrees, but he has his own orders. No more weed. Jaewon will be treated by a private doctor instead.

They sign some paperwork. Then the men are married, but the royal family doesn't want to recognize the marriage. They must wait for a formal answer from the palace.

I think alot of people dropped the story right here. Isabel. One of Javier's many flings. She is his secretary. Before he married Jaewon suddenly she was his partner. Then the second he got married he cut her off cold turkey.

This woman tries to ruin Jaewon's life. Not just his marriage.

Javier wants Jaewon to be comfortable, even though he says mean things. Isabel is supposed to be taking care of Jaewon, while Javier deals with backlash from the royals.

Jaewon doesn't move into the palace. He stays in his tiny apartment. Why? Isabel doesn't move him in. Isabel also speaks other languages with Javier in front of Jaewon, so he can't understand what's going on. So....uh...he doesn't move to a safe place.

News of the wedding breaks out.

Reporters swarm around Jaewon.

He's in actual danger.

Jaewon has to threaten divorce AGAIN just to get Javier's attention. Javier thought elite security guards had been placed outside of Jaewon's residence. The issue is Isabel was in charge so....the guards hired are worthless.

Jaewon finally moves in.

Jaewon and Javier finallllyyyy start attending events together. Everyone is amazed. The Duchess is a male commoner, but he is really handsome.

One of Javier's business pals, Keyar, immediately starts flirting with the Duchess.

So, what happens?

Javier is originally not jealous. Just a bit bitter, but he thinks Jaewon has no interest in men. So Keyar's comments about Jaewon will never be reciprocated. All of his flirting is meaningless unless Jaewon starts to like it.

Keyar tries to "win a night" with the Duchess with a tennis match too.

(Yeah)

When Javier needs allies later he enlists Keyar to care for Jaewon, after his fractured knee worsens and political issues flare up. He does it because he knows Keyar is one of the few that will never harm Jaewan.

It ends with a kiss.

Javier tries to ruin Keyar financially when he steals a kiss from Jaewon.

(Like dude...boundaries...if you put up clear boundaries this wouldn't have happened.)

Also Isabel gets fired in one scene. It’s hilarious.

Jaewon says "her or me?".

He snaps his fingers and Isabel is escorted out.

It's awesome, but a bit late.

This is Alfonso.

Jaewon's friend and weed dealer.

This was a turning point.

We find out that Javier is quite jealous. He has eyes on Jaewon literally all the time. He assumes Alfonso is a romantic interest too. He won't listen to reason.

He demands a complete cut.

No contact with Alfonso ever again.

So, what is the plan here?

An abstinent couple?

Jaewon finally admits he's gay.

The married men finally start sleeping together.

The stakes somehow get even higher. Remember those loans??? The funds allocated for the poor???

Yeah they're part of Javier's plot to marry Jaewon for real, and keep all of his money.

The royal family, obviously, tries to reject the marriage. Javier neglected Jaewon in favor of work to sew seeds to keep their marriage binding (forver remember no divorce allowed because tradition). He put on a show, from day one. He became a public LGBTQ+ ally. He doted on his Duchess in public for months. He also used the press to make Jaewon famous. He hid Jaewon's face from the internet and reporters, until the handsome beauty of the Duchess became a gossip sensation.

He declares that he will give up his title and cash to marry Jaewon, in front of the world.

They can be honest, finally, after almost a year of marriage.

The dominos begin to fall.

The entire loan investment project was all Javier. He lied and said he had other investors, but if he's not Duke the poor don't get their money.

He moves back into his castle with his husband.

He's a rude bastard, but he does always win in an entertaining way.

i really enjoy the idea of this reader forcing herself to be soft and sweet. she's so so scared, tears streaked down her face, but she's got to smile and color with her crayons when johnny sets them down in front of her.

it's a type of sadism that would really work for johnny in particular, i think. he's watching you struggle through this drowning fear to be just what he needs. and you can't fully tell if he even knows you're scared (it's obvious, but you think you're a better liar than you actually are) so you try and cover it up as well as you can.

imagining you playing with legos, or jenga or smth, and being a little shaky and scared but trying to not show it. you glance up and just see ghost, looming in the shadows, blood not washed from his hands or face, just watching you with this deeply intense look. you flinch, lose knock over your little tower or lose jenga, and cry out a little at the loud noise. simon smirks at the reaction, and johnny coos real sad and sweet at you, leans forward to stroke your head.

and you sort of condition yourself to enjoy these things. you don't love coloring at first, but... but it is kinda fun. johnny and simon seem to love your drawings (they put it on a little heavy, you think) and their endless praise feels undeniably good. is it so bad to color something you think they'll like? no, of course not.

so you let yourself enjoy the little childish things - coloring, all the stuffed animals, building little lego castles - because it does feel relaxing.

My honest answer is that no amount of skill, strength, or resolve will ever convince a misogynist to see you as a person on equal level as them.

I've gone back and forth with answering this for a while and I still might delete it after I've posted it because I don't think it's a popular opinion. But I don't find these sorts of narratives interesting. I hate the "weak woman" trope, because it always feels reductive to me. The whole "oh this man thinks women are weak but you prove him wrong because you're actually really strong" always strikes me as saying "women are weak but I'm the exception" and... that also isn't good... The trope never seems to be proving that all women are capable of strength, but that this one person is better than other women.

Maybe it's the ghost of Mary Wollstonecraft possessing me, but don't you want to be taken seriously? Don't you want a vindication of your rights as a woman? Isn't that the appeal of fiction, the fantasy of it? Why would I want to deal with a misogynist in fiction when I deal with it in real life and don't find it particularly attractive in either situation?

I'm very careful with König's notions of gender equality. I want to keep him in character, or at least what I perceive that character to be, but I also don't want to undermine the reader. In my eyes, the fantasy is being taken seriously, being listened to, being respected. It's having the giant brute of a man tell you he believes you when you say you can do something. It's being able to chose not to prove yourself because you are already an equal in the partner character's eyes. König has fantasies about his darlings having his children, but not because that's their job, because he wants kids. König has a free use kink, not because he thinks women are objects, but because he... has that kink. He sets up scenes within kink, but once those scenes are over they're over.

Anyway, this is all just my way of saying. I would love if people stop sending me "reader is a weak uwu bean and the men all want to coddle her but wait she's actually really strong" requests. I understand the desire to be protected and cared for, but you came to the horny for strong reader characters blog...

The great thing about dating your best friend is that the dates don't actually have a chance to feel awkward.

Coming out for Buck and Eddie was different and strange for both of them - Buck eased into it a lot better, whereas Eddie needed a second to figure out his entire life. But once they both got there, once they agreed this was real, it was easy to fall into it. Going on a date was simple - they always hung out alone together, they were always affectionate with one another, so in that sense, nothing changed.

They decided to go for brunch and then a walk through the park. It's on their walk where Eddie has to try and stop himself from poking fun or laughing, because Buck keeps trying to make a move.

It starts the way it always does, nudging one another, their shoulders bumping, but then Buck grabs his hand. Eddie smiles as he does and squeezes it.

Then Buck uses that as leverage to pull him in, tugging him close and smiling gently at him, his eyes glancing down to his lips.

Here it is, Eddie thinks.

"Hi," Buck breathes. And he leans in.

Eddie sneezes right on Buck's face.

"Ah, fuck Eddie!" Buck exclaims, stepping back, wiping his face.

Eddie can't help but laugh, wiping his nose with the sleeve of his sweater. "I'm sorry!" he sneezes again. "Fuck, it's spring you know? Allergies. I'm sorry, sorry." he laughs at Buck's expression, closing the distance to kiss his jaw apologetically. It helps - it makes Eddie's gut twist pleasantly and lights something in Buck's eyes.

"How romantic of us." Buck sighs, and grabs Eddie's hand as they continue their walk.

The second time that they try to kiss, Eddie is the one to do it. They find a bench under a tree and decide to sit for a bit, curled up close. They're talking softly to one another, mostly about Chris, and then Eddie just looks up at Buck, who is so beautiful and looking at them with those gorgeous fucking eyes...

Eddie leans in.

Buck stops him by holding him steady, immediately tense all over.

"Is everything-"

"Shut up." Buck breathes, looking terrified.

"Wha-"

"There's a skunk right behind you."

Eddie freezes. "I thought skunks were nocturnal," he whispers.

"Mostly," Buck whimpers. "But not exclusively."

The skunk comes into Eddie's vision then, in the corner of his eye, walking nonchalantly past them, stopping right in front of them. Buck whimpers again as Eddie tries very hard not to move.

Buck whispers, "He's kinda cute."

"I'm not taking a skunk home."

"I didn't say to take a skunk home, I'm saying that he's cute."

"Right, and what about the cat you made me adopt last week because you went on the adoption center website even though you know how you get about it?"

"Hey, you said you love Fruit Loop!" It's such a ridiculous cat name - they both love it.

"I do!" Eddie exclaims, too loudly.

"Eddie!" Buck hisses, slapping a hand over his mouth as the skunk turns. Their eyes are wide and terrified, but thankfully, the skunk only turns to walk away, seemingly bored with them.

They breathe a sigh of relief.

And then a bird shits on Eddie's shoulder.

"That's it!" Eddie snaps suddenly. "Take me home!"

Buck sighs, but clearly, he can see that neither of them will get what they want here.

Once they're back home, Eddie gets changed and makes some coffee for the both of them, before he joins Buck on the couch. He sighs, leaning back, their shoulders touching, knees bumping.

"At least brunch was good." Eddie chuckles. "Neither of us choked."

"The standard you have for our relationship is quite low." Buck laughs softly.

"Buck, a bird shit on me today."

Immediately going into did-you-know mode, Buck leans forward to take a sip of his coffee before leaning back again, "In some cultures, a bird pooping on you is actually a sign of good luck."

"I don't feel so lucky."

Buck turns his head toward him, a hand moving slowly to Eddie's thigh, squeezing. "Maybe I can help with that..." he murmurs, gazing into his eyes.

Eddie shuffles closer, so their noses brush. "Oh yeah?" he whispers, biting his lip, anticipation sitting heavily in the air, creating a nice buzz under Eddie's skin. "How do you figure?"

I felt so ugly recently. The kind of ugly that feels different.

So there was dude at school (im in the equivalent of US 12th grade) that I thought liked me since we had quite a few eye contacts and shit, and I felt him staring a couple times. Also there was an *event* that would be kinda long to explain but anyway I really thought he kinda liked me, or at least fucking noticed me.

But then nothing much, I glanced at him when he was around but nothing.

Then my knees got bad again -not that they ever really get better- so I had to take my fucking crutch (which paradoxically make me feel more tired at the end of the day but hey, at least I don't fall pathetically in front of everyone.) First shitty thing, a friend from class and I were waiting in front of the examination room because we had an oral exam and, guess who arrives to wait in front of the classroom just next to ours? Yup, this guy. Out of all the possible classrooms and time slots. Anyways, he's walking down the hallway and when he has to walk in front of me (and my friend), without even glancing at me, he weaves in some sort of way that I interpreted as 'ew', because me and my damn crutch were taking all the space. So I was just like 'oh' inside. Second thing, the other day I was climbing up -"limping up" ig- the stairs with my crutch, and it was one of my bad days (greasy hair, eye bags worse than usual, my ugly a$$ glasses because I couldn't see a damn thing.) I was exhausted and trying to lift myself up every step while holding my crutch with my other hand (mf old building from XIX century with a uselessly huge amount of stairs) and I run into him again. He goes up the stairs, slowing down when he reaches my level and gives me the LEAST discreet side eye. He had a look on his face like 'wtf's going on with her'. Not worried, just curiosity, enough to make him look but not enough to stop and ask what's wrong or offer help.

Just like fucking everybody, I guess.

The same kind of glance everybody gives me, full of questions. Why do I have only one crutch? Why do I have a limp? What's wrong with me? Why do I move like I'm 80 when I'm young? Why am I in pain? Am i faking it? But then, they're obviously not going to actually ask, and they walk past me, and forget about me, but I don't.

When I go out, people don't notice the hair I spent so much time straightening, or the way I absolutely nailed my eye makeup and my lip combo looks so good on me, they don't notice my outfit or jewelry no matter how much it shines and how the gold of my earrings matches the one of my rings and necklace and bag. They notice the crutch. The limp. And they stare. First their eyes fall on my gait and slides up the crutch to look at my face, and that's when they see I'm already looking at them. And it's weird to see a young woman, a girl, like that. And I know they're not thinking 'what a pretty girl', they're thinking 'what's wrong with her'.

And that's a funny thought, because I don't even know myself.

Anyways. Yeah I feel ugly, because I wish I was looked at for my appearance, the way people silently stare at gorgeous girls in public. But I'm not even pretty, and I guess I was just ignored.

I wish I was normal.

First of all, Megan Hilty is an absolute queen!! I wish her name was more well known on Broadway because wow. Her voice is so powerful and I cry every time I hear her sing don't forget me. And I actually love ivy as a character with all my heart. She's beautiful and strong and so interesting. Yeah, she's flaws and human, but she tries so hard. I was so happy when she started getting the recognition she deserved in season 2. She makes mistakes, but then she gets back up every time. I also think she had incredible potential for directing and would have like to see that explored. She just deserved better in general.

I also don't like Karen at all. Not only is she kinda boring as a character, but she's not nearly as talented as everyone seems to think. Yeah, she's pretty and has a gorgeous voice, but she's really just a so-so actress and dancer. Her songs rarely make me feel anything like Ivy's do. At the end of season 1, I only cried during her version of don't forget me because I felt Ivy's frustration so deeply. Also, Karen is kinda rude and arrogant. Like, she has no clue how theater works but acts like everyone else is constantly out to get her just because they're asking her to do something differently. She can't remember her blocking and then complains that people don't like her. And she's so sensitive. No one can tease her or even comment anything that isn't 100% positive about her without her getting upset. Furthermore, Ivy's an interesting character who makes us really care about her because of how hard she tries and fails only to get back up again. Then, they throw in her past and emotional trauma and struggles with addiction. It's really hard not to care about and root for her. Why should I care about Karen? I liked hit list only because of Jimmy, Kyle, and even Anna. Karen didn't matter at all to me because she didn't really have to struggle or fight for anything. She was kinda just along for the ride.

Third thing, Derek sucks and is super problematic, but it was nice to see him stay to grow and improve. I would've liked to see where season 3 might've taken him. I do really like his relationship with Ivy because she calls him out on stuff, and he actually listens to her. It was dumb that he never saw how truly incredible an actress she was. They would have made a great team after she really became more sure of herself and he realized how awful he was. His obsession with Karen was really weird, but I like to imagine he probably got over it by the end of season 2.

Tom and Julia were interesting, but I was actually happy to see them split at the end of everything. She always kind of took advantage of him and it bothered me. He also deserved a real relationship story, but I'm not surprised he didn't get one since he was a gay character in 2012. His relationship with Kyle was kinda creepy and Kyle should've dated either Sam or that dancer we saw him flirting with earlier in the season. Either one of those would've been less uncomfortable. Him and Sam were also never really a good match. Plus, he did Sam kinda dirty in season 2. But yeah, he should've gotten a good relationship.

I do think Sam should've gotten the lead in hit list. He deserved it, Jimmy didn't. Jimmy did a good job, obviously, but he wasn't reliable and was really uncooperative. He could've just given feedback as a writer instead of being the lead actor. I get why they did it the way they did for the TV show, but realistically, it just didn't make sense.

Kyle's death was awful. I wish we saw more of him. I think his relationship and history with Jimmy was interesting, I think it should've been explorers more instead of Jimmy and Karen, who's relationship was kinda predictable and overused. It would've been nice to see him and Jimmy sing together sometime. I wish he sang a few more songs in general because he has a really cool sound.

Jimmy and Derek also could've had a really interesting relationship if it hadn't centered around Karen as much as it did. I think they could've really helped each other. Jimmy didn't take any bullshit and Derek didn't put up with any bullshit, so they could've kept each other in line. Derek also saw something in Jimmy that few people did and I think it would've been neat to see him become a bit of a mentor.

Finally, Derek and Tom had so much potential that was never explored. Their history and their future are so unclear, but I have so many questions.

So yeah, I really did enjoy the show. It's not the most incredible show ever made, but it was fun and interesting. It's a shame it only got two seasons. I kinda blame the marketing team since so few people know it ever existed.
