Shadow's development Headcanons

Started off looking like more of some .. creature than a hedgehog

Like way too many or not enough limbs, especially because of the Black Doom DNA

I'm imagining him having one eye and being more of a scaly texture but still oddly goopy lol as well as not having hands or fingers and instead having some tentacle type things

Between getting experimented on and his normal growth he eventually grew to look like a normal mobian hedgehog with some key differences

The differences being, the whites of his eyes having a light green tint, too many teeth, every joint is double jointed, quills that are unable to fold down/look relaxed, sharp claws, etc, etc

I also think it'd be fun if one of his feet had one or two extra toes :3

I think at some point during his development he looked like Stitches alien form (from Lilo and stitch)

Whether he can still regrow the limbs now, Gerald manually rewrote his DNA, or one day he just lost the ability to use them is up to you bc idk

Maria watched Shadow grow up essentially from a weird amoeba looking splotch to a semi grown Hedgehog

I headcanon that Shadow's body didn't look like it does now when he originally went into stasis, and he grew while in containment

Hedgehogs aren't supposed to lose quills unless they're under high stress. I think Shadow sheds a lot by nature, and he frequently has to brush his quills to make room for the new ones growing

Teaching Shadow to talk was a rough process. Mostly because he didn't always.. have a mouth.. or hands... so Maria and Gerald had to be on top of figuring out new ways to communicate, just in case

Perfecting his design was painful, Shadow could gain or lose random parts of his body, organs could be grown wrong and bones had to be corrected and moved over and over again, just for the sake of a "perfect" life form

They'd put Shadow back in the Green Tube when they knew a long process was going to be painful, but sometimes he would need to be awake so they could watch his development, but I would hope at least Maria would fight for these processes to be as few and far between as possible

The first words Shadow said were "Maria", "sister", and "pick up"

It took years before Gerald was finally happy with Shadow's look, and even after that he was still being experimented on to track the progression of his steadily growing powers

Things like his enhanced memory, speed, agility, strength, etc

I think Shadow was given his inhibitor rings for ease of retrieval and containment, and it was an easy way to keep track of his powers while not letting him over use them

This is not to say there was nothing redeemable about his childhood. He technically still has good memories to look back on, after all he still had Maria

Anyways uhm yeah, I'm going to post this without proofreading it hopefully that doesn't backfire :D

I’m so very soft at the thought of Azriel having a daughter, please allow me to force feed you my headcanons

- Her following Az around like another shadow. Peeping around from behind his legs

Her naturally silent, soft footsteps. The day she successfully creeps up on Cassian for the first time, and he tries to seem unfazed but Azriel saw the minute jerk he did and was so proud he couldn’t help but smile

- Learning she has the ability to wield shadows like her father. Azriel teases her when she’s a baby/toddler darting shadows around her and tickling her arms, pinching her chubby cheeks, dangling her upside down as she shrieks with his laughter.

One day she’s not in a good mood and she just reaches out with a chubby fist, grasps the shadow (baby grip soo strong) and just pulls. Azriel’s eyes widen and he yelps.

Cassian is so happy he lifts up the baby girl and dances her around the room chanting “shadow baby! shadow baby! Shadow baby!”

- She’s quite clumsy when she’s young and just learning to find her feet. Azriel’s shadows would dart around pulling her up when she trips over something, affectionately plucking leaves out of her hair after she brawled with Nyx and they went tumbling down a hill

- Her favourite thing is flying with Az at night. The way he’d wrap her up in his arms and go soaring through the sky. Just complete silence, only the whistling of the wind, the beat of her father’s wings around her and the comforting scent of his cedar wood

Az looking down and his stone cold face softening as he sees her sleepily starting to fall asleep, soft rosy cheek pressed against az’s Illyrian leathers

scaramouche lets out a huff but does as you say, moving the fake icicles to where you want it before you shout, "wait, sorry, just a little to the right."

he scowls to himself before looking back at you with a grumpy frown that elicits an apologetic smile out of you. but nevertheless, he moves the icicles once again, much to his annoyance.

he climbs down the ladder and you hurry to hold it, wrapping your arm around his waist once he's finally on the ground, and he does the same back.

you marvel at your house, but not long after you hear scaramouche grumbling, complaining about how cold it is and how he doesn't get why you two have to do this every year.

"because it's nice to see our house decorated. doesn't it make you feel cozy and more… holidayish? besides the kids around the neighborhood like it!"

he scoffs, but you know he acknowledges your words when he starts to grab the string lights out of the box of decorations. you smile and go to hold the ladder again as scaramouche climbs up to further adorn the house.

he gets your reasoning.

he looks back at his childhood, often recalling the memories of him walking back home from school only to see the houses that lined his street filled to the brim with decorations ranging from lights on bushes to huge inflatables and candy canes hanging from rooves.

his favorite was always yoimiya’s, whose parents always went all out, every year.

then he remembers his house. big, but empty, with no air of that fond and nostalgic feeling that holidays so often filled people with.

he knows that his moms are back in japan, attending to their work, ei and yae being far too busy with their businesses to worry about decorating the house for a holiday that only lasts for a month.

he remembers holidays often just being him and his nanny with a letter sent to him from his moms. a few short sentences of "happy holidays! sorry we couldn't make it this year again.. next year for sure! we miss you!"

so, when you first “forced” him to decorate your shared home with you he obliged, albeit a bit annoyed. now, he still feels annoyed, hating the coldness of winter, but he reminds himself that the end result will be worth it, hoping that other kids would feel the joy and warmth he felt as a kid, like he felt when he looked at yoimiya’s.

(and of course, he would never admit it, but he actually finds himself having fun. reliving his childhood dream of decorating the house during the season that filled him with so much dread as a kid with a loved one.)

its all the reason why he’s outside in the frosty weather that indicates the start of december in his rudolph pajamas (matching with your santa pajamas), hanging up ornaments and lights.

once he comes down again, you smile, “it looks great. thanks for the help,” kissing scaramouche on the cheek before leaning your head on his shoulder.

“yeah,” he hums, “it looks nice.”

Barry Allen astrology vs. Hal Jordan astrology- who is what? :D

Oooh yay, this is a much easier question! 😁

So, if we’re going off of their canon birthdays (which change a lot and/or aren’t really stated or kept to often) then because Hal’s birthday is February 20th and Barry’s birthday is March 19th (Pre-Crisis*, more on this later) that makes them BOTH Pisces!

I kinda love this arrangement because they both definitely show Pisces traits in pretty different ways but always with an undercurrent of deep understanding of one another! They’re both very compassionate, altruistic, and sociable (mostly Hal on this front hehe) people who can be quite emotional, although they’re also both very good at keeping most of their emotions in check when the need arises. Their Pisces friendship is seen most often in the fact that neither of them are prone to opening up easily except with each other, this is when that deeper understanding of one another comes in. A lot of times they clam up around other friends and family but put the two of them together and they instantly confide in each other about all their deepest, darkest worries, it’s the sweetest!

Now, from a purely headcanon perspective: I think Hal is a total Aries and Barry is most definitely a Gemini (I’m not just saying this because I’m a Gemini, I swear!)!

You can’t convince me that Hal isn’t the stereotypical Aries with his steely will, impulsive nature, and incessant need to TAKE ACTION!! And Barry is the picturesque Gemini as a master communicator (HOW many times has he gotten Hal out of a sticky situation by using a few honeyed words?), deep-thinker, and with a wit that puts Hermes himself to shame.

This now brings us to their Aries/Gemini friendship which truly highlights the ever-present question about Hal and Barry: how are they friends?!? I’ll tell you how! They just get each other in a way that allows them to butt heads without ever actually stepping on toes. They both enjoy the thrill of the chase and seeking the answers which their shared curiosity MUST have, and while Hal’s incessant need to run out ahead may sometimes send Barry into a tizzy, Barry’s own love of always being on the move, and his overall chill demeanor with joining Hal on his adventures, makes them such. a. great. team! Hal’s sometimes brusque demeanor can also rub a lot of people the wrong way, but Barry’s wit and understanding allows him to take anything Hal says and just let it roll down his back, no harm done. And when Barry finds himself too in over his head and falling into a cycle of overthinking, Hal is there with his straightforward honesty to bring Barry back from the brink. They’re truly one of the best friendships in fiction and I can probably write an entire book about all the things I love about them, but I’ll just stop here for now 😉

*Okay so back to this before I’m done, in Post-Crisis continuity Barry’s birthday was changed to May 13th which would make him canonically a Taurus which is just not vibin’ with me at all y’all. Like, I guess, he is a pretty steadfast person and he does like security (and you should really never push him to the breaking point), but I don’t know. There are other Taurus traits like being sensual and very pleasure-seeking that are just the total antithesis of Barry to me which makes me kinda wanna buck canon in this regard hahaha

Hey idol does Mario having a panic attack when the others need to calm him down

The way I imagine Mario, he wouldn't quite experience panic attacks in the literal/clinical sense of the term (though Luigi would 😥), but his distress would nonetheless sometimes reach very alarming levels depending on what triggers it.

Restlessness. Migraines. Loss of sleep and appetite. Nausea and vertigo. It would be more visually subdued, in a sense?... But still very impactful and concerning for his health. ><

His anxiety would be both harder to spot and more difficult to defuse than his brother's, because it would usually be deep-rooted in severe ongoing issues and fiercely concealed under layers upon layers of forced optimism and taut composure for others' sake.

Merely trying to help reduce his stress would be a riddle for most, and one that very few ever managed to crack; Luigi and Peach being among them. 🤲❤️‍🩹

IMAGES OF CHIYOKO HISAKAWA : 1 of ???

once gaining steady income as a mangaka, chiyoko seriously contemplates a more elaborate tattoo; rather than the cute little images she's imagined here and there, she wants something truly stunning to look at. the idea strikes her one morning after managing to spill paint all over her favorite pair of shorts, a deep green running over the blue material and down her calves. wouldn't it be pretty to paint her skin much like a canvas? chiyo eventually settled on a design that looks similar to watercolor, and though the visuals above lack much color, chiyo's tattoos are deep blues, purples, and reds that fade into each other, similar to what you see in these images here ( nudity warning, though nothing explicit ). the shading would most resemble the bottom right image, filling empty space with shadow or colored gradient. her tattoo curls along her right arm, across her chest, and down the left side of her waist, hip, and leg ( as depicted in the bottom left image ). getting to this point has, of course, taken quite a bit of time, especially as chiyo had to grow comfortable enough with her tattoo artist to allow them near parts of her body that are typically concealed. the whole thing has cost her a lot of money and tears, but she's pretty proud of the art she and her tattooist created. she plans to keep adding to it in the future.
