Final result of my poll on access to LGBTQ organisations is 67% in favour of representation for closeted/not out people.

I was really conflicted on this and found it really interesting to see how people here would vote. I think I will have to agree with the majority that inclusivity is the way to go. And maybe an open mind for people who give you clues. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck… it’s probably a gay duck ;) 🌈🌈

Queer Superhero cyberpunk story!

Hey there! I know I've talked about it before but I have pulled my story from Kindle. Well, I'm just not updated it anymore on Vella. I found Industry a new home! Please, give it a like and try it out! Queer superheroes, psi powered people living in a cyberpunk endless city! Super-powered cops to route for, or route against! (Route against them!)

This is a work of absolute passion for me. A, now passed away childhood friend of mine and I started building this back in 2005. It's almost 20 years old inside this old noggin of mine. Its gone through so many rewrites and different alternative drafts I could make a full novel on those trimmings alone lol. Anyway, since my own discovery of being trans and exploring my own pride, I've changed this story a lot. Our protagonist suffers from a lot of trauma and has a lot of issues with herself and how she sees things, but she's managing! With her underground bunker and spliced copy of the city AI program, Jefferson, she tackled the villians of Industry, both political and not, with her mask--friends and a strong will to do whats right. (And this gun she found.) Everything seems to be going a little smoothly for her in life until she stumbles across a dark and secret underground black hand like organization.

Please consider giving this a try! Mature themes and profanity, spicy elements, very spicy at times ;) so venture forth, If you dare!

Welcome to Knightshade Academy! There are several names under consideration for the rest of the title, such as Knightshade Academy for the Magically Gifted, Knightshade Academy of Magic and Might, Knightshade Academy of Magick, and Knightshade Academy of the Supernaturally gifted.

Knightshade Academy has gone through many reiterations over the past couple weeks since coming up with the idea. I didn't want to make an exact copy of Hogwarts, and wanted to make it unique. My aesthetic inspiration is a mix of World of Warcraft, Harry Potter, Kingdoms of Amalur, Dungeons and Dragons, Tim Burton imagery, and the macabre of The Addams Family. While the castle was always raised high, I've also had the idea of making it a kingdom floating in mid-air, well out of reach of human intrusion. There's also the idea that due to threats, the school raises up in the first book.

I want a huge sense of adventure in my stories. I'm a huge fan of RPGs, both video games and table top. I love the colorful whimsy and glowing darkness of Japanese and certain western RPGs. Instead of having a purely wizarding school, I wanted to make a school that trains all races in magic and might, including clubs like the Adventurer Guild that would prepare students to do their part to rid darkness from the world. As far as curriculum, I wanted to include physical classes such as combat and survivalism, as well as both general and specialized magical classes such as blood magic, elemental magic, nature magic, etc. This will lend itself to creating the world's best mages, adventurers, rulers, government officials, soldiers, artisans, and young professionals.

The first detail that I'm really ironing out is how to access the world that houses Knightshade Academy. I've taken some inspiration from one of my favorite game series, Ni No Kuni. The idea is that along with the normal human world, there is another parallel world where the supernatural creatures exist, and there are portals/magic gates located in the vicinity of each of the 7 wonders of the world. Once upon a time, both world existed in harmony, and you could move freely between both, but in the first book, an uprising of a dark race threatens both worlds creates tension between them that makes it very dangerous and almost impossible.

Our main character's name is Atticus Slade. While I'm still working out his backstory and how he fits into the world, but I know that his personality will be deadpan and sarcastic. Though he has a strong sense of loyalty and empathy for his friends, others sometimes find him to be intimidating because of his sharp looks, his venomous wit, and his sassy sarcasm. As far as his history, I think I'd like him to originally be from the human world, his mother a human and his father a mage (or some other race, depending on what I decide in the future). There will definitely be a friend group, but those characters haven't been decided.

There are many titles in the works, each with different kinds of stories. The First is The Midnight Masquerade, dealing with a cult of vampires unhappy with the merging of humans and supernatural beings in their world, and plan an uprising. The specifics haven't been totally worked out yet, but that's in progress. There are many titles being tested, so if you have any opinions or want to give your favorites, feel free!

LGBTQ+ Pride Month

Herself the child of a gay mother, editorial photographer, Gabriela Herman, spent 6 years documenting children of LGBTQ parents and their stories which culminate in her book, The Kids: The Children of LGBTQ Parents in the USA, published by The New Press, New York, 2017.

This photographic book offers an answer to the question, “how are children affected by having lgbtq parents?”

The people Gabriela photographed were from all over the United States, from large cities to the rural Midwest. Some are adopted or born from artificial insemination, others are children of divorce. The stories reveal great love and pain, happiness and sorrow, celebration and grief. They do not paint a picture of perfect families, but of families who are as dysfunctional and as loving as all families. Except these children had to endure one thing that children of heterosexual parents do not. They had to constantly defend their family from society’s expectations of how a family should look.

This is one in a series of LGBTQ photography books entitled Diverse Humanity “that showcase the rich diversity and complexity of LGBTQ communities around the world.”

The project was seeded by conversations between philanthropist Jon Stryker and the artist Jurek Wajdowicz and his design partner, Lisa LaRochelle. They are all active in social justice causes and believing in the power of photography to transform understanding and awareness they set out to produce this series to “illuminate the most intimate and personal dimensions of self, still too often treated as taboo: sexual orientation and gender identity and expression.”

The book design and composition is by Emerson Wajdowicz Studios (EWS)

This series of photography books is part of our joint UWM Archives and Special Collections LGBTQ+ Collection, one of the largest such collections in the Upper Midwest.

Gay Roller Coaster Ride

4/12/23

I was gonna write "Gay-waiian roller coaster ride" but there's no Hawaiian guy involved so it really didn't make sense. However, I am listening to Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride from lilo and stitch as I write so that's where the inspo is from lol.

Anyways, so in today's blog about gayting (gay dating) why don't we learn to trust each other more? Remember the guy I was talking about last time? well, he's loving that we switched chatting to a different app lol. And I am able to send him selfies (he has an android... I know, red flag), BUT he's so fine. He's chatting me up and I actually feel a lot less dramatic about the whole situation.

If you'd ask me a year ago how I feel about gayting, I might have given you a dismal picture of the scene. I think some cities are definitely better than others (said every travel gay ever) but fr, like let's learn to trust ourselves and each other more. I feel a lot more relaxed in these situationships, partly because that's what is available in my life right now and partly because I trust myself to navigate it. I am not gonna chase love or someone just because I could see us together or like them. I am enjoying the present and comfortable with my boundaries. That seems to be the best way to approach any type of intimate relationship :) Make it what you want it to be and if it's not serving you, delete him and block him lmaoooo.

Y/n’s pov

I was chilling in my room. Reading some last pages of my book before going to sleep sitting in my bed when suddenly I heard a sound coming out of my window. I was kinda a little bit scared at the thing. I stood up from my bed and started slowly approaching my window. I touched my curtains and pulled them away quickly and sharply. She was there…

Her brown, chocolate eyes were staring at me like a puppy begging for help. My heart melted as I saw her face. She pointed with her finger for me to open the window so I did.

“Casey…” I said as I opened the window and she entered my room. Standing in front of me. I just now noticed her eyes were red. She? She cried?

“Are you okay?” I asked. She hugged me so tightly to which I was kinda surprised.

“I had a fight with mom and Sam” she got even tighter and borrowed her head into my neck. She was sobbing.

I patted her gently.

“Hey… Hey. It’s okay now I’m here” I stroked her hair.

“Let’s get into my bed” she pulled away and nodded like a little kid.

We sat there in my bed for some minutes as she explained everything that happened. I knew it was hard for her. Both of her parents were more concerned about Sam that when they were fed up they would just blow it on her. I understood her very clearly.

“You know you don’t need to do this” she stoped sobbing and said.

“Doing what?” I asked.

“This. Caring about me. I know I am annoying and wasting your time while u-“ I didn’t let her finish the bullshit she was talking and smashed my lips into hers.

Suddenly the world went numb. My hand got into her neck and started playing with her hair while she pulled me in while holding my waist. I felt millions of the butterflies exploding inside of me as our lips moved in sync and I could feel her soft lips on mines.

We pulled away because of lack of oxygen.

“Don’t you ever think that you can be annoying to me. You are the sweetest and the best thing that ever happened to me, Gardner” I said hardly catching my breath.

She smiled and jumped on me making herself to be on top of me as I fall into my pillow.

“Am I ?” She smirked and that’s when I knew she was alright. She had that confident look in her eyes. Not the lost puppy ones that I saw a bit earlier outside of my window.

“You are, love” I smiled and I fought her glancing at my lips.

“I love you” she whispered but I could hear her very clearly and pecked my lips one more time
