Junkrat having a crush on you - headcanons

Pairing: Junkrat/Jamison Fawkes x GN!Reader

Summary: General headcanons of Jamison Fawkes aka Junkrat having a crush on reader.

A/N: "I absolutely adore Junkrat and his expanded characterization in overwatch 2, so I decided to write some headcanons for my favourite pyromaniac. I hope you will enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed writing it!" - Mod Berry

Oh boy, you bet that there will be a lot of puns involved. You know those interactions, that they added in overwatch 2? From casual puns, they will evolve into cheesy pickup lines. Not to mention, if you show the slightest bit that you do enjoy them or lord forbid, you follow up with an even dorkier response - expect to be smothered in bad puns every time he sees you. Jamison will be more than happy to share with you his special chemistry pickup lines such as:

"Are you carbon monoxide? Cuz ya sure take my breath away!"

"Excuse me darl, but did ya lose an electron? Cuz you are positively attractive!"

"Damn I've never seen a bomb like you! And I make those every day 24/7!"

"Oh, how I wish you were like Avogadro cuz then I would already know your number!"

I imagine he tells them with a full happy grin plastered on his face followed by a wink ;)

Jamison would definitely try too hard to sweep you off your feet by bragging about his and Roadhog's heists or even about their casual shenanigans. Don't worry, Mako makes sure to add realism to those and embarrasses him from time to time, by telling exactly how they went. For example:

"Oi Roadie do you remember the time when I saved both of our asses in Numbani by MY magnificent and strategically thought out plan?"

"You mean that one time you accidentally lit your ass on fire just to confuse the guards and buy us some time to escape? Yeah, that sure was something Rat."

The big man then lets out a hearty chuckle.

*gasp* "Betrayed by my own crime partner!"

At first, it would embarrass the hell out of Jamie. He would desperately try to explain to Mako that his pride and chance at a relationship with you is at stake, but then he sees you laugh, and just like that all his worry instantly disappears. From that very moment, he would tell all the awkward details himself just so he could hear you laugh one more time.

This also includes Junkrat telling you a different story about how he lost his finger, since the first time you have ever asked him about it. You would call him out at any given chance though. However, you appreciated his effort in trying to brighten up your day even if it meant listening to the silliest of tales of Jamison's lost finger.

“Oh, this? This is a painful reminder of my tragic yet complicated past." he follows up with a very expressive pose like the drama queen he is.

"Dude you are literally missing an arm and a leg. How could the finger be the main focus?"

"Y/N I am flattered that you are so invested in my backstory but no spoilers! Even for you. Now, where was I? Ah yes! (...)"

Some of these stories included his supposed memories from the outback. Probably back when he wasn't featured on every wanted poster in Junker Queen's domain.

"I lost me finger to a bunch of fellow junkers in a truth or dare fight in a bar, and you wouldn’t believe that it was because of the truth part!”

Other times it would be something so ridiculous that you can't help but snort at the simple prospect of that situation ever happening to Jamison.

“There was this one time when I had to wrestle a quokka for my lunch! Don't ever let them fool ya with those big ol' eyes and cutesy faces. I am tellin’ ya those things are bloodthirsty. I got my food back but the little rascal took my finger as revenge!"

"I am not blaming it though, sometimes even I wonder how I taste."

That last part earned him a well-deserved nudge, followed up by a sigh and being called a "dumbass" ( affectionate ) in response.

"Y/N you know that I am messing with you right? Or am I?"

But do not be fooled as this man is far from stupid as everyone likes to think. This man can be a menace to society and still be a genius. I had to include that in the note because I am sick and tired of people brushing it off. You have noticed that not only his craftmanship and his entire workshop reflect that statement but also his special interest, which is drumrolls please - philosophy! Specifically speaking, philosophy of mathematics. His newest interaction with Sigma shows that Jamie is aware of concepts such as Zeno's paradox. But why am I sharing this headcanon with you? That is because I am sure that if Jamison sees that you are interested in what he has to say, ( unless being ignored by like half of the other characters *cough* ) and therefore feel comfortable around you, he will be so excited to infodump you with all sorts of fun facts!

Whenever he sees you worry about his health, whether it would be because of his recklessness on the battlefield or an experiment in his workshop gone wrong Junkrat feels unusual. That is the best way to put it. Not many people care about his well-being. In fact, most of them wish something bad would happen to him or simply ignore his injuries ( I am looking at you Mercy ) so this blonde mess of a guy is used to not even notice the pain in the first place. Jamison tries harder to be more careful knowing that there is a special someone that cares about his safety. The thought of you caring about him that much fills his stomach with butterflies.

Having said that he is still the pyromaniac we know of and Jamison would most definitely use his explosives to create something entirely dedicated to you. That way he gets to demonstrate his engineering skills and show you that he is not an all talk no action kinda guy. There was this one time when he got too carried away though. He carefully prepared everything and showed you the results of his hard work but.. let’s just say... it gave you mixed signals? I mean, how could you possibly feel about bombs arranged in Y/N exploding at a rapid-fire rate just to leave nothing but ashes and flickering flames behind? Jamie was so eager to get any reaction from you but in your mind, you were so confused. Is this supposed to be a threat or a love confession? In Junkrat’s case, it could be both at the same time.

Junkrat gasping for air all proud of himself with what it seems like stars in his eyes after the explosion: “So what do you think? Am I good or what?”

Y/N standing there with wide eyes, while thinking to themself *chuckle* “I am in danger.” It would be rude to leave him with no response so you settled for “Great, it was sure something to see my initials get blown away. Truly a sight I won’t ever forget.”

“Aww Y/N you sure have a way with words.”

Having said that if you are not the kind of person who likes grand gestures, don’t worry Jamison will understand and won’t bother you with any going forward. He might be one of the most wanted criminals but he still has class.

Speaking of another wanted criminal Jamison would so rant about you to Mako. It happens anywhere at any given moment no matter if it's fitting or not - from their daily hangouts to the dangers of their crime-filled life. I imagine that even when their lives are being threatened Jamie will still make sure to mention how gorgeous and cool you are to Roadhog because something they encountered reminded him of you.

"Oi look Roadie! That is just like the show Y/N was talking about that I need to watch. I wonder what they are up to right now. " while being tied up.

"Rat that is not the time to talk about Y/N we gotta scram."

This would also include Jamison daydreaming about you and losing his focus on the battlefield. Mako was once fed up with that behaviour and had to interfere.

"Look Jamison if you do that one more time there might not be another chance for you to see Y/N so be more careful god dammit."

The sole thought of not being able to see you again was Jamison's driving force to how he puts it "get his shit together" and focus more on his actions. Jamie cares about you a lot and not being able to see you one more time would be his worst nightmare. Your beautiful face, the way you laugh, talk about your special interests and listen to his, the way you sneeze or cup his hands when he is injured or hell even being called a dumbass by you all gone because of his carelessness? Nothing scares him more than the idea of losing you.

Speaking of DP, Gaz is a walking wifi modem and Soap is a portable power bank for his devices 😂 they stick to Ghost like glue on hot days you can not change my mind. The 141 would have the most terrifying reputation even though they’re all idiots.

Soap %100 has caused a black out and Gaz “accidentally” locked a general he didn’t like out of his house after he made Laswell and price mad.

Do you think Ghost would have to deal with the actual ghosts of soldiers would Soap and Gaz pick up on them too?

Thinking of FromSoft games, I've been thinking about an Ellen Ring AU. Idk if people would want it, but I just keep thinking about it. Ghost as the Tarnished, Soap as Ranni, Gaz as Melina. And it'd loosely follow my own playthrough of the games. Outside of Elden Ring, Bloodborn is my favorite of their games. It's so gooooodddd.

Even long after a believable lifespan has passed, rumors of The Outsider's Ghost doing his bidding circulate. Some believe it's an actual Ghost, others say he's The Outsider's lover that was granted eternity to be by his side. Either way, The Outsider and his Ghost are only mentioned in hushed whispers for fear of invoking their wrath.

DP AU, the 141 has a reputation for shit going sideways for their enemies before they're even on the base. Terrorists start resorting to defenses that don't rely on power or the internet because they see how effectively the 141 shuts that shit down. It doesn't help, their guerilla tactics don't effect Ghost. The team absolutely deals with the ghosts of fallen soldiers, but not as often as you'd think. They tend to stay where they died, or cross over, or go back to their families. Some though, will use their newfound deadness to be menaces, and those are the ones our boys deal with. Think Skulker or the Box Ghost, those types of problematic guys.

Duuuuude Sparky Boom Boom Man had such a cool bending ability. Personally I'd want to be a water bender, but fire bending is still the coolest form.

(First of all, I'm a massive fan of your art and headcanons. I'm krueger girl any day of the week, and your art just makes me want to gnaw on him.)

I've been obsessed with drawing military gear for a few years now, and I love how your art style depicts everything. I was just wondering how you went about developing that ridiculously cool style? How much do you think about real anatomy and actual references of gear while still retaining the stylistic look? I always tend to struggle with overdetailing in certain areas, especially on plate carriers and guns.

Do you have any tips for someone wanting to improve in this specific area? (Other than heaps and heaps of practice, of course, haha)

Hello! Thank you so much for your kind words, I'm glad that you like my take on Krueger that much as fan, means a lot! 😊♥

Also, this is very high praise. In a lot of ways I think it's also important to remember that my artstyle tends to be very forgiving as my lines are naturally super loose. My anatomy isn't objectively good, but it works because I have a general idea of how body parts are linked together. i think.

My reply got super long (SORRY..) so it goes under the cut:

What made me develop my style was... gaining confidence. Over the course of the past 5 years, 90% of my drawings were the same 4 characters, over and over.

I got comfortable with the layout of their gear -> the more comfortable you are with something, the more you simplify it → the more effortless it looks → the more "daring" you get with it. I think it particularly applies to gear art.

Regarding specifically what you mentioned, here's my advice (this is personal advice from my experience, again, I lack actual solid basics and I only draw lined works, so this might not apply to painting!!!) :

Overdetailing: DRAW UNZOOMED!!! literally my n°1 advice. When I over-detail (you can see it in some of my posted pieces) it's exclusively when I wanted to correct smth and stayed zoomed in. Unzoom as much as you are comfortable with - I advise seeing at least 40-50% of your drawing at all times. Having a general view will help you not to "linger" on any part, and consider your drawing as a whole instead of separate parts.

References: use them, but don't get trapped by them. Basically: don't try to stick to them too hard. This is personal advice, but in my case, when I focus too much on a reference and try to replicate exactly what it shows (the exact angle an arm bends, every detail on a piece of gear, etc), my drawing ends up being very stiff and/or overdetailed. Try to draw your reference your way, with your proportions, while retaining the general idea of the ref - whether it is an entire pose, a body part, a plate carrier or a gun. It'll be less frustrating, and will get you to develop your own style quicker while making you improve.

I'll be honest - I lack actual, good anatomy basics and practice, which hinders me *a lot* when I draw or attempt drawing more elaborate stuff. It might not show because I find workarounds in my style.

My point is that.. despite this, you guys like what I do, and for the most part (I can't believe I'm saying this now) I'm confident with my artstyle 🥺 ... so, ultimately, it's about finding some sort of balance. Again, thank you for your words. I hope amidst my rambles you could find something useful. I'm rooting for you! 😤

Prompt: They are your assistants/secretaries.

Bakugo K.

• He is the kind of secretary that's always on time, if not earlier. He is looking to be excelling in his work and expects the same from you, his boss.

• The type that doesn't allow you to do your own drink because "You have no fucking idea how to prepare that crap". Can't get mad at him for cursing, his drinks are delicious and unmatched. He also doesn't let you touch his expensive cappuccino machine (no matter if you drink coffee or not).

• He is so stubborn, always telling you how to do things and giving you piece of advice. It sometimes makes you wonder who is the real boss around.

• Likes things to be neatly organized and tidy, that might clash a little bit with you if you aren't able to keep your mess at bay.

• Sharp in every aspect. He is very analytical when it comes to the rest of your employees, often calling you "too soft" for allowing them to slack off from time to time. Will not hesitate to scold them on your behalf.

• Neatly dressed! Did you really think he was going to be unfashionable? He is all about vests and shirts, not to mention shiny shoes and the perfect tie.

• Stays after hours even when you tell him to go home and rest. If you work until late then he follows, his pride wouldn't allow his boss to do it alone.

• Oh, you gifted him a new shirt for his birthday? "Why do you even remember that shit but not the days you have meetings with the supervisors?" He uses it on special occasions anyways, feeling all fuzzy and proud whenever he does. He also thinks it makes him look hot.

• More than willing to be the boss under the sheets, if you have that kind of bond. He is able to separate his sex life from work but don't you dare tease him while in the office, he'll have you biting his pillows as soon as you two are able to get a room.

• Not afraid to scold you from time to time either, especially after you make basic mistakes.

The clock marked 6 a.m and you were the first one to arrive at the office, or so you thought.

—Tsk, you are late!— Your blond assistant complained while waiting for you at the entrance, holding a bunch of paper sheets in his hands.

You looked at him amused, already used to his frequent squabbling.

—No, I'm on time, you are just early.– You said, tapping your watch with your finger. Bakugo just huffed and rolled his eyes.

—Is that the shirt I gifted you? Looks nice on you!— You complimented, taking delight in the way Katsuki's frown slightly faltered into a flushed gesture.

—Shut up, open the damn office, I forgot my key this morning....— He mutters.

—Oh, you mean this key? You left it on my kitchen counter last night. Better be careful, right?— You slightly teased, feeling Katsuki's body tense with embarrassment.

— Tch, you are so bold now. You weren't this confident last night with my dick in your...—

—Bakugo!—

Kirishima E.

• He tries to be on time. Keyword: tries. This poor baby is always, at least, 20 minutes late. You've talked about this many times but it never seems to work, so he kinda compensates by bringing your favorite meals hot and ready for you at any hour.

• He is so clumsy, always tripping around the office because "his suit was so uncomfortable". You allow him to use more casual clothes from time to time, which seems to work but now you have other employees asking for a more relaxed attire.

• He is always encouraging you, leaving sticky notes with sincere words everywhere in your office. "I bought dessert, take a break. -K." "Drink some water, you seem tired <3 -K" "Best boss ever! -K"

• Low key you keep all his notes in a little notebook because he is precious.

• If he sees you are stressed out he will, with no hesitation, activate a red code. "And what the fuck is a red code?" , you wondered the first time: He sits you on a chair and brings your favorite items like a bird building a nest. He also gives you his favorite action figure to hold it.

• He tells you the best jokes, often cheering the meetings you hold and pleasing your supervisors. He is like a wildcard that comes in handy when you really need him.

• He's very chatty , so you stop him from answering your calls. Last time he did, he ended up giving one of your clients therapy through the phone.

• "Ooooh, boss~ Check this out!" *Shows you the picture of a horrible cake* "I made this for you-"

• You ate that cake even if you knew it'd have you glued to the toilet.

• If your relationship goes beyond the boss-secretary dynamic, you are in for a treat. Kirishima does not know how to act professionally when he misses your body so much during work hours. This man whines to have a taste of it while you deal with paperwork. You have to close the curtains of your office more regularly than you'd wish to, but he's just so eager to help you from underneath your desk.

• Don't let him use the printer unsupervised.

—Hello! You are talking to the best boss's office. How may I help?

You rolled your eyes listening to Kiri answer the phone, glaring at him for a second before sighing. Once he was done, you called him to your desk.

—What have I told you about greeting the clients correctly?— You scold, seeing the redhead melt with bashfulness.

—Sorry, but it's true!— He excused himself, pleased to hear you chuckle before letting him go.

—By the way, did you like the cake I baked?— He asked, his eyes shining with excitement. You didn't have the heart to tell him that you puked it all over the white porcelain of your bathroom.

—It was delicious, Kiri! Do you wanna take a baking class with me?—You offered. He jumped in excitement at your offer, happy to know you wanted to spend more time with him outside the office.

—We are gonna have so much fun, boss!

Kaminari D.

• That one secretary that knows everyone's dirty secrets and gossip. You always get distracted with him telling you how much of a cheater the janitor is for sleeping with the cafeteria lady.

• Curiously enough, he is very responsible with his schedule (most of the time at least). He also likes to dress nicely to "impress the clients with his electrifying handsomeness"

• Kaminari sometimes likes to play small pranks on you to cheer you up and keep things lively around the office. Sometimes, he takes it a little too far for your taste, but you let him off the hook since he didn't mean harm.

• Has -and will not hesitate to- gifted you a framed picture of you two to decorate the office whenever you invite him for lunch, even if it's something as simple as instant Ramen.

• He places small cat miniatures on your desk whenever he feels like you are angry at him for chewing on your pens (happens a lot).

• Kaminari loves to give you rides from your home to the office on his motorbike, even when you've told him there's no need for it. He likes the way you hold him tight whenever he speeds.

• Bitchy and sassy, you often have to glare at him so he can take the hint whenever he needs to keep his mouth shut at a meeting.

• If he managed to swoon you and get you into his bed, you'll be hearing about it non-stop during office hours. He lives to tease, using innuendos that aren't very subtle. Half the office knows he managed to bang you.

• Overall efficient but God knows you have to put him in his place before his reign of chaos takes control.

You were busy revising some contracts when Denki came into the office with a sly smile on his face.

—Oh, boss~ Wanna hear the new tea that's brewing in the pot?— He asked, taking a seat in front of you. You lifted your head and huffed for a second.

—Not now, Denki. I'm a little busy over here.

Kaminari pouted, throwing a little tantrum.

—Pleaaase, I promise it's good!— He begged, dying to tell you all about how he found Jerry from Management asking the cafeteria lady for a chance.

You sighed, placing your papers aside.

—Alright, but it better be good or I'm gonna make you take calls all day.— You warned, smiling as your cheek rested on your hand.

Kaminari squealed in excitement, nodding.

—I knew you couldn't resist my charms!— He cooed, wiggling his brows.

Midoriya I.

• Meticulous beyond your comprehension, Midoriya takes note of every single detail he can: the way you like your drink, what you eat and your allergies if you have, your meetings and appointments. You are pretty sure he even has your shoe size noted in case you need an emergency pair.

• Always excited to learn from you and asks tons of questions about the ins and outs of your routine. "I- I don't drive but would you like me to get a taxi for you in the mornings?"

• Occasionally, you need to remind him to breathe because he gets so caught up talking he forgets to do so. Have I mentioned he is a life saver during meetings? Whatever you know, he knows it too and is not afraid to chime in to answer questions from clients and supervisors alike.

• You have taught him time after time how to do his tie knot but he still needs your help in the mornings to fix it. He ended up wearing a clip tie but from time to time, he forgets it and ends up in your hands again.

• Have you heard of his favorite action figure, All Might? No? Would you like to? Izuku loves to tell you all about his comics and figurines in his free time, and you can't help but find it cute when he gets all excited about it. You gifted him an All Might t-shirt and he wears it under his shirt.

• He can be a little clumsy when it comes to document delivery, sometimes mixing packages and mail. Don't worry, he quickly tries to fix it before you notice.

• You often need to stand for him whenever one of your employees gets rude. Izuku doesn't like conflict but he can't help but get in trouble whenever someone talks badly about you. Some might even call him a lap dog.

• If you allow him to, he is quick to develop a crush on you. He just can't shut up when he talks about you to his friends! Have you considered marriage? Don't worry, Izuku already married you ten times in a row in his imagination.

• Gentleman in the office, and a freak behind doors. He is just so eager to please! But don't get him wrong, he won't cross any boundaries you don't allow him to during work hours. Although from time to time you catch him staring at you with a lovey-dovey face while doodling hearts on his agenda.

• Your office low-key became his extra storage for All Might merch. You wonder when your mouse pad changed from plain black to that hero's logo.

—Izuku, have you seen my jacket? I can't find it anywhere.— You asked, looking around for any signs of the gray cotton item.

—I-I had to send it to the dry cleaner.— He muttered, anxiously fidgeting with his tie while answering. Izuku could see the confusion in your face as you raise an eyebrow.

—Why? It was clean this morning.— Midoriya heard you ask. "Oh, boss must be so mad! I failed, I failed! " The freckled young man thought.

He shakily rummaged through his pocket, reaching for a stained ziploc bag with the culprit of your missing coat: an All Might pen.

—I'm sorry, I'm sorry!— Midoriya pleaded, bowing as specks of tears fell from his emerald eyes. —I know how important today's meeting is, so I wanted to give you my lucky pen but…—

—It leaked and stained my clothes, no?— You finished his sentence, looking at him nod. You sighed but smiled anyways. —Now, now, come here.—

Hesitant, like a dog with its tail between its legs, he approached you. You weren't going to scold him for trying to be supportive, and besides, it was just a stain.

—I'm not mad at you, Izuku.— You reassured him, patting his head. —All I need by my side is my little wonderful assistant.—

To say Izuku was beyond grateful that day would be an understatement. He was so happy, the next day not only did he bring your clean jacket, but he also asked his mother to cook a meal for you.

—My boss is just so generous, mom!

Dear god this has been in my drafts for a while-

Hiya! Sorry for that lack of info lol, I'd been inactive for a long time, and the time that I actually WAS posting consistently was back when things were still being sorta fleshed out. But I've got a pretty good idea of how every single part moves at this point, so sure :D I'll give a not-so-brief summary lol [under a cut because I couldn't not dump multiple paragraphs teehee ~_~]

Tone Deaf is like a dystopian version of Sing, if I were to put it super duper simply. One where Buster's issues get more emotional focus, and we get actual bonds with the cast because the movie forgot to do that.

Buster is, also, a lot more unhinged, fair warning. This fic's gonna contain violence and tackle some darker subjects [adjacent to grief and denial more specifically] so if it feels like I jumped a lot of sharks, it's because I 100% did.

It kinda started with me noticing how, in the actual movies btw, smaller characters like Buster and Mike had more difficulty getting around places. This led me to ask myself about how species differences could lead to struggles for certain animals since the city just isn't built for everyone [this is NOT Zootopia]. Ash's quills, and Meena's towering size were things I noticed too that would be massive problems, realistically. So after a lot of pondering, now we're here.

The world of Tone Deaf in present day is in a post-war period that's lasted about 50 years now [Crawly is actually a veteran from this war- which was more like complete and total anarchy if I'm being real, since there weren't really any sides until near the end...]

Long story short, the wealthy capitalized off of the war and taking people prisoner- so they purposefully kept it going. A resistance ended up forming to stand against this [Miss Crawly being one of the generals, with that classic missing eye] and after their army stormed the unsuspecting stronghold, the war finally began to conclude. It still took around a year after that to release all of the prisoners of war, and by the end of it all, the damage that had been done to some races was permanent. Even extinction-level in some cases- some animals just straight up don't exist anymore because of it.

Back to Calatonia. Laws that are in place to protect animals from tearing eachother apart are still relatively new, and the criminal underbelly of Calatonia is kinda out of control. Animals get kidnapped/poached, smaller animals are at a huge disadvantage and have basically no power [politically or otherwise], endangered species are a very real thing, poverty is a huge issue for most of the population- and in the middle of all this is Buster Moon.

He's gonna be the main perspective. And the story will also serve as a slight character study on him, mixed with my own grittier and batshit insane changes/headcanons/alternate universe ideas on his backstory. He's a ray of sunshine with a lot of bottled-up feelings that will kinda really take control of the story.

Buster has been arrested multiple times. He's been put in unsuccessful therapy. He's still grieving his dad. He's committing crime and compulsively lying about those illegal actions too. He has emotional difficulties that he hasn't dared try touching on in years, and he has issues with letting go- which, is kinda how all of his new problems come to be.

The threat of his theater being repossessed if his show isn't a success gets a LOT more emphasis too.

But on top of that is the added threat of Buster getting sent out of the city if he can't get his business up and running. Remember how I mentioned endangered animals?? Well Koalas are one of them. One of the big ones, actually. He's the only Koala in a city of almost five hundred thousand, and it's been that way for almost half a decade now. It's been causing issues for the people in charge for half a decade now. Koalas have government-protected settlements far away from here due to their numbers being so few, so if Buster loses the theater? That's the next step for him.

But, to help this poor dude through all the stress of life is the found-family he develops with the cast he hired. He helps them for a lot of the first act, and then they give back his kindness in the second. They connect through their similar experiences, as well as their shared passion for music and performance. And by the end, maybe Buster's okay. Or maybe he's had a complete downward spiral [not gonna speak of act three 🥰]

Other characters have also had a shift in their dynamics. Things in the story have changed. Like for instance- Gunter already knew Buster and was a close friend of him and Eddie before the show, Judith is now the mayor and a main character, Pete has been put in place of the banker in charge of Buster's accounts, Buster unfortunately gets involved in politics, Mike actually gets to bond with the cast- actually the cast gets to bond with the cast point blank period [idc what you say, this just straight up doesn't happen in the canon movies], and to top it all of is a generous helping of angst with a few acts of violence sprinkled in 🤭

The actual Act I summary is this right now:

Buster had been in tight situations before-- suffocating situations, even. He’d been in every kind of trouble imaginable, he thought. With family, friends, local businesses, the law. But he'd always wormed his way out, either through loopholes or by charm. Or usually just by stacking another lie on top of his already crumbling facade. But this time it's gonna take more than a cover-up to fix this. ‏‏‎ Buster’s dishonesty takes him too far once again, a simple typo causing him to unintentionally land himself in a wager that could cost his very life. He has two months to fix this- to ACTUALLY fix this. And the worst part is that he hadn't even meant to lie this time. ‏‏‎ The First Act of Tone Deaf.

TLDR; Buster learns to love again after experiencing the horrors of animalkind firsthand and being healed by theater kids LMFAO

More Ship Meme Details!

This one says car, and there's no cars in Faerun, so I changed it to carriage. Originally, I thought "Nah, neither of these guys know how to drive" but then I remembered Wyll has Animal Handling and given his nature as a hero, he's totally had a moment or two or three where there's been a run-away carriage, and he's swooped in like the dashing and daring hero he is to take the reins and stop the thing and the horses before anyone gets hurt. So… Yeah.

We all know Gale is the camp cook, and if Wyll's dialogue is anything to go by, it sounds like he's quite territorial about it. But Wyll can be pretty determined and insistent, and I headcanon that he's not a bad cook himself. He might have started out that way (as the duke's son, he probably didn't have to cook his own meals - so he had to start from scratch when he was kicked out of Baldur's Gate), but I think his years of surviving on his own - he might have learned a few thing about seasoning with wild herbs and whatever spices he could pick up along his way as well as experimenting with various ingredients.

PDA - While both Wyll and Gale are on the more modest side of things (especially Gale given his whole "I won't undress even in front of my tressym" thing and wearing full-on long-sleeved pajamas and Wyll seems at least willing to wear a crop top) - so I can't see them engaging in more, err, private activities - I can definitely see them doing things like praising each other in public, saying romantic things to each other in public, holding hands, kissing, a face caress, hugs. They're both very affectionate people who aren't afraid of showing affection.

Wyll, being the hero that he is, has a natural inclination towards protecting people and can be especially fierce when it comes to protecting the people he loves. This is also evidenced in his origin if you romance Gale and make Wyll the Blade of Frontiers (he talks about keeping an eye on Gale, and Gale is touched that Wyll is so protective of him). Given how deeply Gale loves and the fact that he's a powerful wizard, though… I imagine Gale ALSO has a protective streak towards the ones he loves as well (you see this in his trying to distance himself from his mother because he believes himself to be a danger to her, and if you play his Origin, he can give Tara a stern talking to for traveling outside of Waterdeep where it isn't safe). Wyll, of course, is plenty capable of protecting himself, but that won't stop Gale from unleashing all of his magical fury on anyone who might threaten his love.

Relationship experience! So, we know Gale has SOME relationship experience - there's his relationship with Mystra which likely lasted years, but he also mentioned having mortal lovers before that. There seems to be some inclination that he didn't have A LOT of lovers before Mystra, maybe just a couple or a few. So, he's got maybe a moderate amount of experience; though, I get the feeling very little long-term experience and his relationship with Mystra probably left a lot to be desired in terms of how a normal relationship is supposed to work. That being said, due to his age and some things Wyll has said (more on that in a moment) - He has a LOT more experience than Wyll.

So, now we come to Wyll, sweet Wyll. First, I'm going to point out that Wyll says to Astarion in the Blushing Mermaid that he didn't have his first kiss until he was 15 years old. It's important to remember that Wyll was kicked out of Baldur's Gate when he was 17. So, that leaves two years where he could've possibly had a relationship (or a few really short-term ones) before he's trekking the wilderness and saving the day and having to deal with Mizora on a regular basis (which likely put a dent on his seeking relationship prospects).

Next, in some banter with Halsin, Wyll suggests his romance (if you're romancing him) is his first love. In another banter with Shadowheart in Baldur's Gate, Wyll specifically says he's "tight-laced" and "never been the type to sow his wild oats." Add that to his insistence on a fairy tale romance, the fact that he proposes to his partner before even considering sex with them and well…

What I'm saying there is a VERY HIGH chance that Wyll is a virgin, so yeah he's very close to the No Relationship Experience side of things.

Oh? Like... anything??

ngl anon, that is a hard one... I'm probably going to end up rambling so I'll toss it under the cut but uh. yeah!!

( content warning for mentions of death, violence, and similar dark topics. )

( I also. I do these things for a lot of my muses if you're ever interested in what I go through for THOSE motherfuckers. )

The first thing that comes to mind personally is. the concepts of love, hate, and jealousy? And the nativity found in all three.

It might be weird but, it's a topic that relates to. a lot of my muses? Sparkle, Ruan Mei, Kaede, just to name. a few of them I suppose? Of course, this concept didn't originate with my own muses, but rather when I ended up having to write the muse of a friend for some writing I was doing.

Because he was someone who I found was... a little difficult for me to write initially? It was... a long process that led me to do a lot of research, both into canon and fanon portrayals, but also roleplay websites, and so on and so forth. So, I have a whole bunch of my own small headcanons and shit for this character that I use while writing him.

But uh, a huge thing that helped me ground his character for what I ended up using him for was his views of love (romantic, platonic, familiar, and more) and how it affected him as the two parts that created a "whole" him. It ended being the core part of his character, actually.

See, he's a character who acts sweet and cute on the outside, but on the inside, he has a lot of troubled feelings and disturbing thoughts. He can act nurturing on the outside, loving and caring to those around him (albeit in his own... unique ways) but when he's left alone with his own thoughts, he isn't as caring and sweet as he believes everyone to be.

His views on love is probably the greatest example of this, if I'm being honest?

Simply put, he loves people (both platonically and romantically), yes, but that love, it's full of hatred and disgust. In his words, his love is something that is "full of bad feelings (that are mine and mine alone)." and he harbors... You could call it resentment in a way. towards the person he loves. But of course, this feeling isn't *purely* resentment, because at the end of the day, he loves and he is loved. And it's not like he hates her, because how could he hate someone as sweet and attentive as she is?

Simply put, she's too kind for him. Too good-hearted for someone with such a blackened heart like him. And he hates that fact, he hates the fact that he can't love her as she loves him, because his love is filled with resentment, hatred, and disgust, while her love is just that. Love.

Love is something that makes him self-destructive. And, again, it's something that is "full of bad feelings". It's gross. It's nasty. It's violent. He's hurt her, he's hurt himself. He mourns the loss of something that never left, and he attributes that loss to her and therefore he "hates" her in this weird, pseudo sense. It's something he hates, but he doesn't hate the *feeling of love* itself. He only hates how he feels in turn. He hates that he is loved, but that he can't properly love in return.

Because his love harms people.

Because his love kills people.

And that, in turn, fills him with bad feelings. But, it's not just in the romantic sense. it's... in every sense.

When he thinks of his family, those thoughts fill him with intense animosity. When he thinks of his mother and his father, he loathes them, dare I say he even detests them. Because their love (if you can really even call it that) was full of resentment and hatred for one another and for their children. He was not loved nor he was not wanted by either parent. His sister is too young to remember anything of him, they are essentially strangers in this current age. And so he resents her for the relationship they will never be able to have. The only difference really is his relationship with his twin brother. It was the only person in his life whom he felt he could truly love in a conventional sense, someone he never once felt hatred, distaste, or any of these other negative connotations he associates with love (and why it's "full of bad feelings"). He loved his twin brother, and he was loved in return. But it's that genuine, familial love that he had for his brother that made those bad feelings. worse.

Because out of everyone in his entire family, only his brother died. His parents and his younger sibling are both still alive, and their relationships are... strained at best. But the one person he loved died. Drowning in his own self-destruction thoughts and feelings until he disappeared one day and was never seen alive again.

With his friends, it's similar but different. He loves them, but he holds them at arm's length. He loves them, but he will never truly be able to love them the way they love him. His platonic love is at best, hollow/shallow because it's not completely faked but it's filled with a lot of hot air. He tries to compensate for the hollowness that's left behind from distancing himself and the bad feelings he harbors with gifts and praise but it'll never really be enough. They'll never know how he truly feels because...

They might not feel the same after learning.

And that thought makes me sad. Because I know that, he is loved and he will always be loved, flaws and all. even if he is a terrible person, he was loved and he continues to be loved.

Of course, his views on love have changed over time. Of course, his views on relationships in *general* is complex and convoluted and I can only blame the person whom he is mused by but /j

He still considers himself someone who is filled with bad feelings, bad feelings that manifest themselves in unpleasant forms and unpleasant memories. But now, he doesn't seem to hide from these feelings as much as before. He still can't face them fully, they are his own personal demons, like a shadow he can never truly shake off. These feelings aren't something he can just shake off overnight, sure, but he can acknowledge them.

With the help of his doctor and a lot of self-exploration (ie getting jumped by himself but if he were blonde and a bigger asshole than he already was more times than he can count), I think he's kind of had time to reflect on these bad feelings and understand why he feels this way.

He doesn't know how he can change these bad feelings into something more manageable, but he knows that these bad feelings are his and his alone. They aren't the fault of anyone or anything else.

And while it's small, it's actually helped a lot in how he expresses love. Of course, old habits will always die hard. It isn't perfect.

But he doesn't blame these bad feelings on his love interest like he did in the past. He doesn't harbor as much hatred and animosity towards his mother and sibling. (his father, however, is a different story.) And he understands that he doesn't need to hold his friends at such a length because, if they truly care about him back, they won't leave him like he lowkey fears.

Maybe getting a therapist DOES work wonders you guys!!

And speaking of the romantic/platonic sense, can I just ramble about how different his love then vs now is? Because, god, it's so fascinating? I really enjoy the progression of his character in regards to how he expresses love???

Because, at first, he acts... almost coy? He skirts around his feelings at first, almost unwilling to admit that he might be feeling something other than just his general dismissive feelings towards people. Not really care, but it's not like he doesn't care either. He sees them as just someone in his vicinity, he doesn't desire a personal relationship with them, beyond knowing their name and such. when it comes down to it, he's avoidant but polite in his own strange way. But he can't avoid it for too long, and it causes him to almost spiral in a way. Because it's not like he is afraid to love per se, but he's filled with all these bad feelings that cause him to react negatively to this revelation. He doesn't want to be in love because it frightens him.

So he reacts negatively to this information. He acts out violently. This, however, it isn't meant to drive her away oddly enough? He's full of bitterness and hatred, but he still craves that love and affection. He's, as his troupe, confused and muddled. He hates that he wants her love, but that love fills him with cruel, violent intentions. And so he lashes out, and he lashes out violently. And it always results in death. He wants her and her love, but it fills him with such bad and negative feelings, it grows and clouds everything. He's addicted to the feeling, drowning in negativity and he can't grasp onto anything solid. Drowning but never dying. He wants it all for himself, even if he loathes the feeling because at least there, he wouldn't be alone.

He realizes he can never love how he is loved. And this bothers him.

He can never love how he is loved, and love fills him with bad feelings. Terrible feelings.

And it grows, more and more aggressive and violent. More and more self-destructive. Like a vivisection on his very soul, he is none other than the person tearing himself apart. He is, in all senses of the word, weak. He can't think for himself, he's emotionally led. This isn't always a bad thing, but with emotions so negatively charged? All he can do is inflict pain, suffering, and eventually death. Upon her, those around her, those who care for him and her, anyone and everyone. He is, in his own way, a harbinger of death and destruction. A monster made up by his own murderous caricature. No matter the means, no matter the ending, he always has been the villain of that story. Even if that

So he tries to repent in, once again, his own way. He feels undeserving of anything good because of what this caricature had done to everyone he cares about. Even if he saved them in the end, even if he dismantled the caricature, he's still haunted by the pain and the memories. Yeah, he wasn't the one physically inflicting the pain in the end, the harm and suffering, but that was born from his own bad feelings. He doesn't feel deserving of love, kindness, forgiveness, or a second chance. And despite everything, he is given all of those. He is given such light and warmth that he spirals further. Because he doesn't deserve that. That is true love. Not the twisted love he is used to. That is true love, and that love is far too good for him. And knowing that, and the thought of having to reject him, it's physically paining because he doesn't want to appear like he's taking such kindness and generosity for granted, but fuck, he doesn't deserve it. You can fix a broken mirror, but you'll always see the cracks in it. He'll always be able to see the blood-stained cracks. So he spirals and self-destructs. He hurts himself over and over, because he isn't worthy of their love but he still wants to be loved.

He realizes he can never love the way he is loved. Because in the end, with his love, someone always has to be hurt. And if someone always has to be hurt in the end, he'd rather it be him...

Or not to be loved at all.

And eventually, this attitude takes a toll on him, to where his life becomes physically endangered. He stops eating, he stops sleeping, he derives very little pleasure from life anymore. He's noticeably malnourished, a little paler than normal. It's a slow but steady change. And it's very concerning to those around him. Eventually, they wonder, if he's dead? And they're worried. They're concerned. They've just gotten their friend back, they don't want to lose him. But he's drowning in his own bad feelings. He's falling down the same path his brother fell down, rapid and fast.

So, they get him a doctor. He doesn't want help, but at the same time, he wants to be helped. He's torn. He's conflicted. He's confused. He's so confused. He wants to be freed. But he's tangled up in a web of his own making. Deep down, he wants to suffer for making these good people worry about someone like him, someone so undeserving of their worries and prayers, but he also wants to be helped, to make sure their worries and efforts aren't for naught. He's confused. He doesn't know what he wants, or what he should be feeling. And she sees this, she sees his confusion.

And she helps him work through it. His past, his future, and most importantly, his present. She helps him work through his emotions over the months, slowly but surely. He isn't always receptive to what she says, sure, but it's the slow progress that makes the difference. Unraveling those "bad feelings" one thread at a time, learning why he feels the way he does. Piece by piece and bit by bit until he can point out the issue and understand *why*.

And so, he tries again. But this time, something is different. He doesn't feel so... tangled and heavy. He's able to look at the people he loves and understand why he loves them. And he's slowly able to express that, instead of spiraling or reacting violently like in the past. It's not perfect, of course. It's not even that great, to be honest. It's messy and sloppy at best. He might be more confused than before. But, it's a start. He can look at them and say he loves this part of them. He doesn't feel those bad feelings as strongly as he used to. Maybe it's because he understands somewhere what those bad feelings are (not fully though, which is why they stay as just "bad feelings" to him, he can't quite explain it all yet), or maybe it's because he can see past those bad feelings he naturally feels to see those good feelings they give him. He can love. It isn't perfect, but, it's more true and real. And, his way of expressing love is also notably much gentler. Both to others. And to himself.

He isn't perfect. He's far from it. But, with his doctor's help, he's getting better.

Physically, mentally and emotionally.

He realizes he can never love how he is loved.

Random Thoughts on HTTYD RoB S1 (Ep14-20)

Ep14- Just made a headcanon: Bucket and that buddy of his that's always with him whose name I've forgotten are a couple

Whispering Deaths look so so different, and they're Boulder class?

"-he can't fly, remember?" "Aaaand, who's fault is that?" I hate myself for laughing at this, but yeah it happened - it's one heck of a low blow tho, bad Snotlout

Is the Whispering Death an ex of Toothless? No? Sorry, I'll stop

It saddens me how little character the twins have in this show..

"M- Ma- Maybe because he can't stand the pressure of everybody always expecting him to have the answers!!!" That is so freaking valid, he's right!! Everyone always relies on him to know everything about dragons - wasn't Hiccup supposed to be the specialist? Ask him

Nice to see the two nerds on their early days of "geeking out"

Snotlout considers Hiccup is arch-nemesis?? What da heck, child, what has your dad been telling you? Or what have you been telling yourself

Ep15- Meatlug and Fishlegs are probably the best functioning duo after Hiccup and Toothless

Snotlout is being difficult on purpose and I salute Hiccup for not having hit him yet

I swear, every single episode focusing on the cousins has at least one moment of emotional turmoil between the two

And during Snotlout's bohoo speech, I'm almost 100% sure that if Hiccup hadn't stopped him after Snotlout mentioned his pegleg, Snotlout would continue on, and reveal those are all things Spitelout now mentions to Snotlout, like "Ya see, Hiccup, Stoick's boy, defeated the Red Death! He even lost a leg - what prouder scar on a Viking than a missing limb! - meanwhile you just trail after him, can't even control your own dragon!!" or something like that, like what he does in "Not Lout"

Try to convince me I'm wrong, I dare you

Toothless and Snotlout having a bonding moment defeating enemies together is not something I thought I'd ever see, but I happily welcome it

Also, Snotlout being competent, yes, me like

"Look, Snotlout, I'm-" "Hungry, right?" "...heh, heh.. Yeah, exactly." "Me too." This little exchange was everything, what the heck, why have I never heard of this episode before??

Hiccup's little laugh was so soft, so precious, my god I love these two

This has been my fave episode so far, it was really sweet

"Hey, look!" "I can't see anything through the tears!" Tuff still has some of his good lines

Hiccup's mom?? We're mentioning Valka here? Wow, thought that was a taboo topic, like the Night Furies

I mean, not Valka, I don't think she existed until HTTYD2, but still, just Hiccup's mom is already a lot

Fishlegs is the only teen with common sense in this group

Ruff joining Astrid on hitting Tuff made me snort

"Put yourself in his shoes-" "Shoe." I shouldn't have laughed but that was just funny

"What if it were your mother?"....."I hate you." 2nd time I hear Snotlout delivering such a deadpan I hate you, and it's still funny (1st time was right in the beggining of rtte, btw)

The Smoke Breaths are kinda cute, ngl

"I knew he hated me!" Nah, Hookfang is just as emotionally constipated as you are, but he likes you a lot

Ya know, in retrospective, Snotlout and the twins were in the right abandoning Johann

She made him a dragon toy?? Is this foreshadowing that Hiccup's mom liked dragons??

Ep18- Fishlegs missing training not necessarily because he's afraid of Snotlout, but because he genuinely doesn't like violence nor Snotlout - flex

He's singing to Meatlug, again, my lord, these two are so sweet

But Fishlegs is a bit codependent, is no one gonna talk about that?

He's selling the fucking eggs......... Snotlout, why

Also, he bought a kid. And he's mentioned owning people before. What the fuck is up with Snotlout and human trafficking, seriously. I'm just wondering what this reflects on Spitelout... What has he been teaching his son??

Is this the episode? Is Fishlegs finally gonna punch Snotlout's face in the face?? Please???

Wow. He didn't even hit him. He didn't have to. Fishlegs is not afraid of Snotlout, not really. He just doesn't like him, nor violence, so he let's Snotlout do his pathetic little number, not really caring about it, because it's really not important to him. He's proud of himself, of his knowledge and intelligence and he's unafraid to show his sensitivity or be kind. Because he's confident and unafraid of being himself, despite what his bullies may say. Fishlegs is so freaking strong and I'm not talking about physical strength here (tho he is that too)

Fishlegs has a level of self-love and loyalty to himself that I can only dream of having

He's just.. so awesome

You know, normally, this type of episode would play out with the character that found the egg getting way over their head with the power that came with it, and abusing it in the worst ways possible, only realising the harm they've done right before its too late and fixing everything on the last minute, with the help of the people he hurt before, during their megalomaniac craze. That's exactly what I was expecting out of this episode.

But then, Fishlegs made the right decision right from the start, putting the egg back in its place, throwing my plot guess out the window. His kindness and sensitivity threw me in a loop, and my love for his character has just renewed here

And geez, he still felt responsible for the mess Snotlout caused!! And he even saved the day!! My boy Fishlegs is just amazing

I'm repeating myself aren't I?

Ep19 - Oh, we're allowed to talk about Night Furies after all? Something tells me we'll get nowhere with this, but sure

"Uh, dad, Gobber, other scary-looking vikings, I'd just like to say, in my own defense, that I cannot control Snotlout or the twins 24 hours a day!" pfff, poor Hiccup

An island of Night Furies...? That was Mildew, wasn't it?

"You're giving me, the twins?!" the sheer betrayal Snorlout had oozing from that sentence

To be fair, the twins did zero

The Changewing actually cozied up to Snotlout, aww

The thing about combing over the scene of Wickham fooling Elizabeth to decide how it works with Darcy not yet in the picture is that I have to read Wickham’s main scene again, and u g h

Mr Wickham was therefore at leisure to talk to Elizabeth, and she was very willing to hear him, though what she chiefly wished to hear she could not hope to be told—the history of his acquaintance with Mr Darcy. She dared not even mention that gentleman. Her curiosity, however, was unexpectedly relieved. Mr Wickham began the subject himself.

HOW MYSTERIOUS AND NOT AT ALL SUSPECT

I do think her attraction to Wickham is intriguing, in that part of it obviously comes from Wickham’s angelic attractiveness and personal charm and flattery, but part is clearly driven by her responsiveness to Darcy. One of the things I had to consider was how Elizabeth would react without Darcy in the picture, and I basically decided that she’d still be attracted and flattered, but less swept off her feet altogether.

[W:] “Are you much acquainted with Mr Darcy?”

“As much as I ever wish to be,” cried Elizabeth very warmly. “I have spent four days in the same house with him, and I think him very disagreeable.”

Elizabeth, you are talking to a total stranger.

“I believe your opinion of him would in general astonish—and perhaps you would not express it quite so strongly anywhere else. Here you are in your own family.”

“Upon my word, I say no more here than I might say in any house in the neighbourhood, except Netherfield. He is not at all liked in Hertfordshire. Everybody is disgusted with his pride. You will not find him more favourably spoken of by anyone.”

is Jane chopped liver or

“His father, Miss Bennet, the late Mr Darcy, was one of the best men that ever breathed, and the truest friend I ever had; and I can never be in company with this Mr Darcy without being grieved to the soul by a thousand tender recollections. His behaviour to myself has been scandalous; but I verily believe I could forgive him anything and everything, rather than his disappointing the hopes and disgracing the memory of his father.”

Elizabeth found the interest of the subject increase, and listened with all her heart

Again, I think her antipathy towards Darcy and her attraction to Wickham are clearly tangled up together.

“A man of honour could not have doubted the intention, but Mr Darcy chose to doubt it—or to treat it as a merely conditional recommendation, and to assert that I had forfeited all claim to it by extravagance, imprudence—in short anything or nothing.”

uh huh

“Till I can forget his father, I can never defy or expose him.”

...he says as he (supposedly) exposes him to a stranger.

Elizabeth honoured him for such feelings, and thought him handsomer than ever as he expressed them.

/sigh

“Had the late Mr Darcy liked me less, his son might have borne with me better; but his father’s uncommon attachment to me irritated him, I believe, very early in life. He had not a temper to bear the sort of competition in which we stood—the sort of preference which was often given me.”

The implication that Mr Darcy preferred Wickham to Darcy is really interesting, because Darcy also describes Wickham as his father’s favorite (that could mean multiple things, but could certainly include this kind of favoritism). But Darcy gives no indication of jealousy in his letter and in fact argues that his father’s favoritism created an obligation to Wickham on Darcy’s part.

(My headcanon is that Mr Darcy genuinely did prefer Wickham and everyone knew it, but he felt rather guilty about it and over-indulged Darcy in response.)

“I do remember his boasting one day, at Netherfield, of the implacability of his resentments, of his having an unforgiving temper.”

He was describing his greatest flaw, if in rather self-serving terms, so “boasting” is a pretty peculiar characterization of it.

“To treat in such a manner the godson, the friend, the favourite of his father!” She could have added, “A young man, too, like you, whose very countenance may vouch for your being amiable”

/sigh

“We were born in the same parish, within the same park; the greatest part of our youth was passed together; inmates of the same house, sharing the same amusements, objects of the same parental care.”

Despite Wickham being Wickham, I do feel a bit melancholy about this; they’re practically brothers and yet things went so wrong. Wickham’s fault, of course, but still, sad.

“Mr Darcy often acknowledged himself to be under the greatest obligations to my father’s active superintendence, and when, immediately before my father’s death, Mr Darcy gave him a voluntary promise of providing for me, I am convinced that he felt it to be as much a debt of gratitude to him, as of his affection to myself.”

This, on the other hand, is hilarious, because it later turns out that Mr Darcy died before Mr Wickham did. Wickham just can’t resist tacking on a deathbed promise for the drama of it all.

[E:] “How abominable! I wonder that the very pride of this Mr Darcy has not made him just to you!”

[literally four sentences later]

“Can such abominable pride as his have ever done him good?”

oh, Elizabeth.

“It has often led him to be liberal and generous, to give his money freely, to display hospitality, to assist his tenants, and relieve the poor.”

I know Wickham is just covering his ass here, but I think it’s pretty funny that the most detailed list of Darcy’s virtues until Mrs Reynolds comes from Darcy’s greatest enemy.

“He has also brotherly pride, which, with some brotherly affection, makes him a very kind and careful guardian of his sister”

a) you’d know, asshole

b) the “some” here (italics are Austen’s) is doing a lot of heavy lifting, but I think it’s more CYA; Darcy’s affection for Georgiana is so blatantly obvious that even Wickham can’t wholly deny it without exposing himself as a liar.

“What sort of girl is Miss Darcy?”

He shook his head. “I wish I could call her amiable. It gives me pain to speak ill of a Darcy.”

Oh, clearly.

“But she is too much like her brother—very, very proud. As a child, she was affectionate and pleasing, and extremely fond of me; and I have devoted hours and hours to her amusement. But she is nothing to me now.”

Honestly, I think that last sentence is pretty self-revelatory and undoubtedly true. The contrast with how anxious and easily upset Georgiana is at a reference to his militia’s existence is stark. :(

After many pauses and many trials of other subjects, Elizabeth could not help reverting once more to the first

[W:] “Mr Darcy can please where he chooses. He does not want abilities.”

People occasionally point to this as proof that Darcy isn’t actually awkward or whatever, and I think it’s a ... really weird choice, given that a) Darcy listens to Elizabeth talk to other people because he has to work himself up to talking to her himself, b) Darcy himself talks of being uncomfortable around strangers and having trouble catching their tone, c) even when he is actively trying to be pleasant, the Gardiners notice that he’s rather stiff, d) he reverts back to awkwardness at the end of the novel, and e) this take on him comes from Wickham.

[W:] “His pride never deserts him; but with the rich he is liberal-minded, just, sincere, rational, honourable, and perhaps agreeable—allowing something for fortune and figure.”

Wickham is so weird, honestly.

Anyway, no one is covering themself with glory in this phase of the novel (okay, except Jane), but whew is this chapter a lot.

WAIT. I'm losing my mind over that friends to lovers post you reblogged. All I can think about is college Albedo + mutual pining, romantic tension, and friends to lovers OTL

- Leaving little post it notes in his bag or inside the cover of his textbook to tell him to have a nice day or remind him to take care of himself because you know he has a tendency to work too hard sometimes!! And what if he meets up with Sucrose and Timaeus because they like to catch up and sometimes discuss their research or homework, and they see Albedo hiding a grin behind his books and think that he's solved a particularly difficult problem but it's just a cute little note you slipped him when he wasn't looking

- You stay up studying for exams with Albedo and he dozes off on your shoulder so you sit there afraid to move because you don't want to wake him but you're also dying inside

- The two of you go to the library to work but eventually get distracted so it turns into the two you sitting close together on a couch and reading each other sections from your favourite books

- I can also see him as someone who rambles about labs or new research he's absolutely taken by. Weeks later when you mention something he said before, he's a little surprised but you just tell him that you tried your best to understand everything because you know it's important to him and maybe his heart skipped a little

- Going off your headcanons: Albedo looking for little specimens and deciding it could be a fun outing with Klee so she can get some sunshine and you find the two of them in the park. You end up joining them and Albedo's heart softens seeing you and Klee laughing and smiling together!

- I remember this little headcanon you had where he snorts when laughing sometimes and imagine Albedo letting one slip out while he's with you, and Kaeya teasing him later on.

- Eventually, his friends start asking if the two of you are together because of the silent affection and teasing between the two of you. Albedo knows he likes you but he's scared a relationship will ruin everything and you're too important to lose even if it means he never says anything, but little did he know, you have feelings for him too.

oops. 1.4k words. Enjoy your headcanon drabbles, courtesy of me being a hard simp for Albedo--

College au Albedo is pretty close to how he normally is! Brilliant, though having difficulties with making friends and keeping said friends, getting carried away with experiments (did you know if you're on good enough terms with the professors, they'll vouch for you so you can use the lab when there aren't classes using them?? Yeah)...so the friendship that you have with him is certainly the closest one he has.

It'd be the kind where you knock on his dorm or apartment door at 11:45pm with some takeout and your textbooks and he'll let you in without a second thought. You slip inside and settle on the floor next to the coffee table cross-legged, setting the food out as if you don't live a good walk away. He wasn't going to sleep any time soon anyway.

Like the kind of friendship where your hand instinctively slips into his to tug him towards something cool you found or to the café where you tend to go after classes.

Even after you get to your destination, you don't let go.

Now that that has been established--the little notes you slip into his bag or on his books really began as a little reminder. Despite his keen intellect, Albedo tends to easily forget things because his mind is always going onto the next thing. So, being the great friend you are, would just slip a note to remind him to take breaks, eat a snack, or that you're supposed to go and meet Sucrose and Timaeus after class to prep for the upcoming exams.

Neither of you really know when they began to turn into doodles or 'seemingly platonic declarations of adoration'. It's normal for friends to write a heart besides "Don't forget I love you!", right? Yeah.

The smile that makes it's way on Albedo's face is unmistakable the moment that Sucrose accidentally stumbles upon a sticky note carefully tucked in one of his notebooks.

Speaking of Albedo and his tendencies to get carried away with stuff, he often functions on...minimal sleep.

Those nights that you pop up at his place to study or just hang out, he often ends up dozing off, glasses sliding uncomfortably down the bridge of his nose and hair tousled out of it's usual style.

You never plan to stay the night (though even when he's awake he insists you do because it's not as safe at night to make the commute home), but you can't just disturb his sleep when it's the first time in a while that he's probably gone without taking a capsule or two of melatonin to help himself back into some semblance of a sleep schedule.

It's these moments that you remember just how soft his hair is and just how nice his shampoo smells.

Also that he's a cuddler.

You awake in the morning, back aching and eyes squinting against the sudden brightness of the world around you and limbs tangled with your best friend. He's unbothered because his face is half-shoved against the crook of your neck.

With the library, you often find yourselves in a little game. There's so much to learn and so, so many topics through the old vanilla-scent found between pages!!

So trips to the library end up with the two of you digging and sifting to find a topic you've never heard of, sit and read for 15 minutes, then proceed to explain said topic the best you can (without looking!!). It almost always ends up with a few chuckles from Albedo as you fumble explaining (and half-making up) information and Albedo's (unfairly) great short-term memory winning out.

Speaking of...between actually studying and your little topic games, Albedo turns to you to bounce off his current observations and ideas. Sucrose and Timaeus, though both in similar majors as Albedo, are busy with their own projects and research to the point that they don't really have the time to help with stuff as extensive as his research.

Annnnd, naturally, since you don't have anything better to do and are almost always by his side, you play that part!

You listen intently no matter how dense the subject may be and no matter if you do or do not have the background knowledge.

When you ask him to explain something you don't quite understand, he can't help but blink in surprise because you were listening??? And wanted to really understand? You prove time and time again (even days, weeks later) that you listened to every word that tumbled out during his rambles.

And of course you do! Albedo's one of the most important people to you, so it's only natural that you want to show interest in his interests.

Also it's pretty cool to find out those random bits of trivia (like lobsters and their repairable telomeres-).

Klee!!!

Oh man, the first time that you met Klee was a pretty hectic day for Albedo. Due to his Aunt Alice's incredibly busy schedule, he tends to care for Klee on days that he doesn't have class.

However, that particular day he just barely finished class before he had to go and pick her up from school.

With you in tow, that is.

Immediately, the little girl brightens up at your presence, no doubt excited from what she's heard about you (listening in to Albedo's conversations with Alice and the embarrassed tone in his voice when he realizes that he's let your name slipped again and now Aunt Alice wants to know about this particular friend who's captured dear little Bedo's attentions). He's relieved when Klee doesn't immediately reveal that.

From then on, Klee insists that Albedo invites you for every outing they have.

The cafe for a quick treat? The bookstore to sit and read a few books?

"Oh, please please please?? Can they come Albedo? Klee promises that she'll be good!"

Who is he to say no?

But above all, those park days are his favorite. You end up running around with Klee, lifting her up so she can reach a particular leaf on a branch, squatting down to see a bug or lizard that she's entirely enthralled by--all while Albedo sits under the shade of a tree on a blanket, sketchbook and pencil in hand.

You don't know it (even though there's many occasions where he's shown you his sketchbook), but the pages are filled with your smile.

Around you, Albedo's found that he's most comfortable.

There's no need to hide insecurities or hold his tongue when something particularly exciting comes to mind...nor does he hold back in his laughter. Especially with your insistence that his laugh is cute.

That scenario with Kaeya is entirely an accident, proof of just how used to your presence he's become.

It's a late night and you're out with a bigger group of friends than usual, some friends that Albedo's only known since the start of college, but definitely good ones.

With a drink in your hand you all sit at a large table, chatting about anything and everything when you crack a joke and Albedo snorts.

Not like a snort with his normally quiet chuckle, either.

Instead, he's laughing hard, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes and stomach hurting (and maybe it's because of the few sips of drink he's had) and he snorts. The moment the sound escapes him and he's trying hard to calm back down, Kaeya grins.

He's most definitely one of the first people to put two and two together.

After all, Albedo keeps to himself, even around them. But with you around? There's a certain spark of life that ignites.

It's no surprise that the two of you are close when all is said and done.

But that doesn't stop either of you from choking and cheeks from flushing when someone asks if you're a couple. It happens often--too often to count--and ranges between Kaeya's teasing comments and a few sweet words from an elderly woman passing by your table at the cafe.

And you laugh--you and Albedo--because no, no, you're just friends.

Right?

Then the light hits your features just right, illuminating you in a soft glow that makes your eyes shine and--

It's undeniable the way that he feels for you. The sudden quickening of his heartbeat is proof enough. You slide your drink towards him for him to try and he does the same, eyes unable to leave your lips as you take a sip and then smile.

Between the cracks of his appreciation, of this warmth, dread seeps.

Though...that was just over a week ago.

Sitting down back at his apartment, your head resting on his chest and your hands intertwined while you watch whatever's on tv, you shift. Your lips meet in a sweet kiss.

And Albedo wonders how neither of you managed to see it sooner.

Six Eared Shadow

Do you remember the analysis about Mei and Red Son? That was me, and I'm doing this again, but now about Macaque and Sun Wukong

Because what the heck why do they hate each other so much

Ok, so this... This is such a messy chaotic really chaotic mix of a few headcanons and theories I made up and it SOMEHOW turned into a fanfic that I wrote so long that other people made many similar things in meanwhile and now this sounds not original at all, but I wrote it not to keep it in my deep hidden shelf so here we go

(It's based on what I know from the lmk series. I've started to read JTTW, but I'm still not so far to get to know anything about Macaque, but I won't change anything about this theory from now on)

Let's gather some basic information for the start.

-> Macaque is made with a shadow or even he is a shadow (kinda shadow demon, the demon of shadow). I mean, shadow is not only his power, he literally is made with shadow matter. We know that because he can not only manipulate shadows but also go through walls and turn yourself into a shadow.

-> I'm not sure if someone made him or he just "poof" out of nowhere just like Sun Wukong, but according to the story he told about how close he and Monkey King used to be, there's no doubt they had some master/student relationship which later turned into almost equal partnership. What is said, Macaque followed Sun Wukong for a long time, learning a lot from him, 'being his shadow'. They grew in power together, fought together, and (as it is said) Macaque started casting as Sun Wukong shadow, which (surprisingly) looks like he did willingly. Just look at the picture - the shadow is big and bright, it’s powerful and smiling, proud of his strength. He doesn’t look like someone forced to be Sun Wukong’s shadow. It shows how much Macaque admired Monkey King, that he wasn't just a friend for him, he was his idol.

-> We all know Macaque is a shadow demon, he can easily change his appearance, he does not have to look like an evil clone of Monkey King, especially if he hates him now or something, SO even if he used to look up at Sun as his ex-student or ex-partner, and now we know he is NOT, he would prefer to not look so similar any more.

He can choose any other look, but he doesn't. Why? Well, maybe he actually cannot. Maybe this isn't an appearance he has specifically chosen, maybe this is his 'basic' comfy form and any other form would just take too much energy to keep up. And looking at the really tiny probability of two very similar monkeys just "poofing" out of nowhere, I dare to say, Macaque wasn't born (I mean like Sun Wukong or any other demon), but he was specifically created. And here is a question: on someone's purpose or not? Maybe the power of great Monkey King was so strong so the part of it just jumped from him and formed into another similar creature, but let me say it's just weird and I prefer the theory of Sun Wukong being so bored and lonely after his master's (Tripitaka) death, and he created a brother for himself from his own shadow. Just to have someone, anyone.

So Wukong created Macaque and then what? He trained him, he taught him everything he knew, maybe even he shared his powers with him. Some great great bonding time. But as Macaque said, something drew them apart. It is visible that Macaque blamed Monkey King for this, for 'forgetting him'. Before speculation of what happened then between them, let's focus on what Macaque showed us what he wants now.

We have two episodes, both show different sides of him. In season 1, Macaque's main goal is to steal Monkey King's power from Mk, and then to very specifically revenge. He visibly does not want to defeat Sun Wukong, he wants to hurt him as much as possible. Look: when Monkey King showed up, Macaque totally forgot about Mk. And then, when he's so close to defeat him, instead of that he turned to Mk and tried to kill the teenager. Mk is just a tool to hurt Sun Wukong.

And we can't forget how Macaque constantly pointed out all the weak sides of Sun, he's basically just saying on and on "you're weak, you're weak, you're so weak, I'm so strong, I'm strong, you are so weak". Which really fits the feeling of being forgotten because he was weaker and Monkey King was stronger, better, glorious and famous. Macaque really feels like that, he really tried to make Sun Wukong feel his pain by dominating him.

On the other hand, we see that Sun constantly striked off him. He said almost nothing to him, just "Aren't you bored of keep being in my shadow? It's time to give back what you've stolen" and that was fricking all. For Monkey King, Macaque is a just shadow, always behind him, something you turn around and leave behind to not see it and to forget, like an unwanted past. An unnecessary problem, that irritatingly keeps returning to him. He does not want to interact to not make even a slight more bond between them, he wants to delete him from his life forever, and omg WHY. At this end of the ep, Sun Wukong did not even mention Macaque. He really doesn't care at all (or extremely tries to not care). His HATE is almost touchable, ouch.

In season 2, Sun Wukong LEFT US ALL ALONE. Macaque showed up again, he played with Mk a bit, and... Left? That's the thing, you see, he doesn't need to hurt or kill Mk. All we see is Macaque talking about his past and then letting Mk experience something the 'hero' in the story should have felt. The guilt. When Mk interpreted his story differently, seeing himself as the warrior, Macaque corrected him. Cause he doesn't care about Mk at all. He heard how Mk told him about what hurt him, and here is a funny point, because if Macaque needs to be understood, listening to Mk and talking with him (such a simple act of empathy, they both needed it then, guh) should have been enough. Mk really felt the 'warrior' character in the story, so he understood what Macaque felt. But surprisingly, that was not what the demon carved.

Macaque chose to make Mk feel like Monkey King at the moment something drew the demons apart. He wanted to force Mk to be sorry, to apologize, to regret his mistakes, cause he failed with forcing Monkey King to feel that. But! Maybe he is not as purely innocent and poorly forlorn. We see the flashback for a half of second before Mk hit him with Staff:

We see Sun Wukong attacking Macaque who's in his demon (true) form.

Let's repeat this: Macaque felt as if a friend left him in the past. He said a friend did this to have all the "hero's glory" for themselves. We know Sun Wukong could do such a thing, especially before he met Tripitaka, but 1. In my theory Macaque is created after Tripitaka's death and 2. If (as my theory said) Sun created Macaque to not feel so lonely, he would never leave him for such a thing. So Macaque hides something for sure, something he did, something so terrible that made Sun Wukong attack him and not want to know him anymore. How horrendous thing Macaque did that made Sun Wukong choose to be alone again and to forget his dear brother he created by himself?

Back to the great bonding time, repeating speculation of "oh maybe they even share the powers" and comparing it to Macaque wanting to steal Mk's power, my theory here is saying:

Sun Wukong taught Macaque the technique of the same powers as he knew, but Macaque overused it (probably wanting to see how powerful he is, probably showing off and killing so many harmless people) doing terrible terrible things. So Monkey King took all of the powers from him and left him alone, powerless, with the last painful words: "Dont you dare to show in front of my eyes ever again". Of course Macaque was hurt, of course he didn't see why he's the bad guy, because he did not care about people at all. And of course Sun Wukong was hurt too.

Maybe he came back to the village Macaque had destroyed and following a quiet crying he found a little baby with a heart so clear and he put into him all Macaque's powers, making them sleep until the time will be right... But back to the series!

Yes exactly. Why did he destroy the lantern and leave? Why did he suddenly lose interest in teasing Mk and stop forcing him to feel guilty?

First thing, he saw Mk is ready to fight for his friends seriously. He still cared so much about them, not like Monkey King about Macaque. That was hard to swallow, that was hard to watch for the demon. That was't the thing he wanted to see. And second, the flashback. Maybe the sudden realization that he actually did something bad. Cause Sun Wukong didn’t just leave him, he cast him out. It was hard to admit that he actually deserved this (or maybe much more), it’s much easier to blame others, not yourself. So Macaque felt “that’s enough” and left. Mk brought him to this uncomfortable point of admitting the truth. Which he didn’t want to. Maybe in the following eps, he will see it, but now Macaque just isn’t ready yet. But the last talk with Mk gives me a little hope. He stopped treating him like a tool or toy, he was actually talking with him like with a person, he even warned him about Lady Bone Demon.

Maybe (maybe) one day he'll see that humans aren't just useless creatures he can carelessly kill, maybe Mk will make him care and realize what he's done, but that's just speculation in speculation, he could die before he reaches that point, maybe he is already dead....

And that's it. That is all I wrote on ao3, but in the fanfic I put much more details and I build those characters up much more than here. This is only rough rough short-saying, I'm really sorry if you read it all
