Sam, along with bucky, had just gotten back from saving the world as sam likes to say it. All jokes a side, you’re so proud of your brother and you’re happy he’s home safe and sound.

“What about me and bucky” You said placing the cups on the table. Sam raised his eyebrows and stood tall, placing his hands on his hips. “Girl, don’t lie to me” He said making you tut at him.

“I could smell your perfume on him and you were wearing his shirt the day after he stayed over” Sam said and you rolled your eyes, mimicking his pose.

“We haven’t talked about ‘us’ yet” You said, biting your lip to hide the smile. You really hadn’t talked about it much, just that you both want to explore more.... of each other, if you get what i mean. That night was nothing like bucky had ever experienced before, the same with you. You both had this connection, sexually and mentally. You don’t believe in fate, well not until bucky came walking into your life.

It had been a couple weeks since the hook up, but you talked everyday over the phone. Bucky liked you and you liked him.

That was enough for the both of you.

“You know buckys coming around today” Sam said and you shook your head. “Sarah invited him” He said and you giggled.

“I think sarah likes him more than me and you combined” You teased and sam rolled his eyes. “He’s definitely growing on me” Sam said, before walking off, over to sarah.

You took out your phone and looked for buckys number on your contact list. These couple of weeks have been bliss, having sam home and a possible boyfriend? Things haven’t been this good since the blip. Sarah and the boys are really happy, maybe that’s because we get to keep the boat and we have enough money to keep paying the bills. It feels like all the stress had been lifted.

It felt too good to be true, but you did not for a second question it. If this only lasted for a couple months, you wanted to savour it. So no more thinking about the future, you’re going to live in the moment.

And you’re going to do that with bucky barnes.

“Hey, baby” Bucky answered, making you blush. You could hear his motorcycle, you gasped.

“Buck are you on the motor cycle? I told you not to answer when you’re driving” You groaned and bucky laughed. You loved that sound, his laughter is so angelic. It makes you feel so warm and gooey inside.

“Oh, stop it. I’m nearly there anyways. I miss you” He said and you sighed. “I miss you too, we need to talk about some things when you get here” You said and bucky nodded to himself. He knew this talk was coming.

“I’m still going to be able to fuck you after that talk, right?” He asked, that went straight to your pussy.

“We’ll see” You teased, after a few more seconds of talking you both hang up and you help sarah with the food. She laughed to herself which made you look up, eyebrows raised. Sarah had been extremely happy that you and bucky were..... something. She really wanted you to be happy - sarah is the person you have to thank for pushing you to talk to bucky.

“What?”

Sarah laughed to herself again.

“Just like you seeing you happy, lil sis” She said, turning over the meat. You just smiled back. 10 minutes later, practically the whole town was on the dock waiting to be fed and get a picture with sam. Yes, you’re exploiting your brother for money. You gotta do, what you gotta do.

A truck pulls up, one that neither you or sarah recognise. You were expecting bucky on his motorcycle.

Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Bucky barnes steps out of the van, cake in hand already getting attacked but the kids.

“Woah, Woah” He said moving around, the kids following him. You bit your lip to contain your smile, but failed miserably. Sarah nodded, crossing her arms over her chest. “He’s a good one, don’t let him go.” she said sternly and you nodded.

“I don’t plan on it”

Bucky saw you and pulled his sunglasses on, leaving them on his head. You smiled and took the cake from him putting it on the table. He placed his hands on your hips, some of the elders were having a good look too but neither of you cared. He pecked your lips a couple times before saying hello.

“I missed you” He mumbled, pecking your lips again. You smiled and placed his sunglasses over his eyes. “Missed you more” you said and kissed his lips.

“Thought you were on the motorcycle?” You asked looking at the truck.

“Yeah, i just like to wire you up” Bucky said and you hit his chest, pouting. Bucky laughed and you walked over to the food area with the cake. “Baby, it was just a joke” Bucky said hugging you from behind.

“Not funny”

The day went on, with bucky entertaining your nephews and a few of the local kid and his horrible, horrible dad jokes. The kids were hanging out of his arm while you and sarah laughed at him.

“I could do this all day” Bucky said, and you giggled. “I’m sure you could baby” You teased and placed your head on sarah’s shoulder. In that moment you realised how much you liked bucky. He was good with kids, he was funny (most of the time), he has a somewhat good relationship with sam and he’s a fucking hero. He’s good to you. He respects you and he’s got a big fucking dick.

“Hey, buck?” You called out, he nodded knowing what this is about. He walked over and placed his hand in yours pulling you over towards the boat. He was nervous, not like he was going to pay his respects or crossing someone off the list. This was different, this was you. Bucky liked you, he couldn’t let you go.

“Wait, just listen to me before you tell me to leave. I like you, Y/N. We may not go together on paper, but we’re perfect in real life, in this moment. i’ve never felt this way about someone, especially someone i met just a month ago. You’re beautiful and smart and everything a person could want when they’re looking for a relationship. Please don’t let this go, what we’ve got is good” Bucky said all in one breathe, his finger pointing at you. All you could do was blink. Perfect? Smart? Beautiful? This man is so fucking good to you. He’s right, that you might not look good on paper, but this thing you have going on is good. One of the only consist and good things in your life right now. You’d be crazy to let that go.

“Buck” You said placing a hand on his cheek, before you could talk (again), he placed his lips on you, his tongue peaking in as you gasped. God, he’s so good at that. He always kisses you like the world is going to end.

“Bucky”You said again, placing a hand on his chest. This poor man looked like he was about to cry.

“I want you be my boyfriend”

“Wait- What?” Bucky asked and you giggled, pecking his lips in between the words.

“I” kiss “Want” kiss “you” kiss “to” kiss “be” kiss “my” kiss “boyfriend” You said and bucky grinned picking you up and spinning you around, you both laughed kissing eachother again.

“You know i think you should take me for a spin in that truck” You teased, biting your lip. Bucky let out a breath before picking you up and throwing you up on his shoulder, you squealed as he walked back to the area everyone was in. Sam and Sarah just shook their heads as bucky sat you down.

“You’re going to eat and then i’ll eat when you’re home” He said and you nearly choked on your own spit. He smirked leaning back.

“Who wants to have a swing at uncle bucky!?”

I very much enjoy the idea of superheroes pairing off with normies and Leah seems like someone who could handle being adjacent to that sort of crazy world. Like, levelheaded but still a bit spontaneous.

8/10 because leaving ur first date is a point against.

Bucky/Sarah Wilson: they are very cute! Sarah’s already handled being adjacent to the superhero world and bucky seems like he’d be content to be a happy supporting character in her life. bucky has retired from being an important person and now does nothing but make dinner for his cute girlfriend and her annoying brother that he barely knows, no, he’s never met that man before in his life. Sarah’s like <heart eyes> hi cute white boy stay on this boat forever and help me annoy my brother. On a more serious note, Sarah would probably appreciate having someone who’s had some heavy life experiences already to emphasize with her since she’s a widow who also had to go through the blip.

So anyways, Sam Wilson is looking at Zemo like, “I’ve made worse decisions, right? Right?” Because he should not be having a four hour conversation with this terrorist about music but like, maybe he should? It’s a really good conversation, dude has a bit of a playful and sexy aura about him, ha ha but what if- ?”

I want to stay up with you (BF! Bucky Barnes Oneshot)

hello! here is my lil participation piece for @aesthetical-bucky and her 1k writing challenge! the prompt is the phrase “I want to stay up with you” :)

Warnings: language? angst, fluff

Word Count: 1955

You and Bucky sat on your couch in your tiny little studio apartment, which was a 15 minute subway ride away from the Avengers tower. His flesh arm was wrapped around you and your thigh was draped over his knee as you lounged on the couch, the TV creating a nice luminance in the space as the sun began to go down.

“I should be going home soon, baby doll,” he said softly before pressing a soft kiss to your temple.

You immediately pouted and pulled away from his kiss, staring up at him with your eyebrows furrowed, piecing together an altogether borderline embarrassing facial expression. “No,” you said sternly, your eyebrows creasing so far down a shallow shadow formed above them.

He chuckled in response, bringing his metal hand across your cheek, swiping the cold thumb back and forth on your cheek, “Darlin, we’ve talked about this. If you want to come back with me that’s fine! I’m always more than happy to share my bed with you.”

You sighed, upset that you had to debate this again with him, but you were frustrated at this point. “What’s wrong with my place! You’ve *never* spent the night here. I just would like to sleep in with you, make you breakfast, not have to concern myself with Sam or Steve dragging you out of bed and leaving me to spend half of my sleep without you anyways.”

“Well, what about Shadow?”

You cocked your eyebrow at the annoyingly handsome man before you. “I can literally call Peter or Nat right now to get Shadow. They both love that cat. You literally have no excuse.”

His hand had already fallen from your cheek, made a soft trail down your arm before resting with his palm up on your knee. “What about clothes? A toothbrush?”

You began to smile, unable to hide your excitement even at the sheer possibility that he’d give in. “You really think I haven’t stolen enough clothes for you to have a change of clothes here? I even have an unopened toothbrush here because of this moment! I knew I’d get you to crack one day.”

He grinned back at you, unable to leave a microbreak in your heart again over this silly little fight. “Come here,” he said huskily, using his metal arm to scoop your other leg and place you directly in his lap, “I will stay the night. I was going to lose this fight sooner or later.”

You giggled, bringing your arms around his neck and routinely tangling your fingers with the longer locks at the bottom of his head. “You know, I’m really glad you’ve come to your senses about it.” You press a soft kiss on his nose and smile brightly at him.

The rest of the evening was fairly normal. Bucky helped you with the dishes and cleaned the kitchen after dinner-- he even took out the trash and your stomach filled with flutters, enjoying your domestic boyfriend fantasy.

You got ready for bed first, feeling your cheeks warm while you changed with your back to Bucky. You’ve stripped in front of him countless times but something about the newness of the circumstance made you move sheepishly. You tried to compose yourself as you tossed your day clothes into the hamper and rummaged through your wardrobe, searching for Bucky’s sweats and a white t-shirt.

You tossed them onto the couch cushion beside him and stared wide eyed as he simply stood up and peeled his clothes off. His eyes caught yours as he kicked off his boots and unbuckled his belt simultaneously.

“Do you need something, doll?” He chuckled, proceeding to remove his pants, leaving him in his dark boxers and black socks.

“You,” you responded without even thinking about it.

His smile spread wide as he finished changing, “You’re so goddamn cute,” he responded.

Your cheeks blushed red again. You fumbled as you folded the blanket back and slid into bed, pressing yourself all the way against the wall.

Bucky followed closely behind you, fluffing his pillow and placing it nicely between his ear and shoulder. He laughed at you, pressed up so close to the wall that there was at least a foot of space between the two of you. “Why are you so far away?”

You brought your shoulders up to your ears, shrugging.

He made quick work of dragging you back towards the middle of the bed and up against his chest. “Go to sleep,” he said, kissing the space where your hair began.

You pressed your palm on his chest, pushing yourself off of him enough to look into his eyes. “Do you ever sleep, Buck?”

His head cocked ever so slightly to the side. “Of course I sleep, darlin. Everyone sleeps, except maybe Vision.”

You rolled your eyes at his remark, “Shut up, I know that. I just mean, do you sleep well? I don’t know that you’ve ever fallen asleep first.”

He sighs and takes a moment to wrap both of his arms around your waist, the metal one underneath you, causing your spine to curve ever so slightly.

“I just have trouble sleeping sometimes, but I do sleep,” he said softly, his nose momentarily brushing against yours.

You took a moment to contemplate. You had no work the following day-- you actually had nothing to do the following day except play house with Bucky which simply made your stomach churn in such an exciting way. So in just a moment you decided!

“I want to stay up with you.”

His breath hitched for just a moment. If you weren’t pressed up against him you wouldn’t have even noticed.

Before he responded you had already opened your mouth again. “I want you to be the one to fall asleep in my arms for once.”

He smiled widely and u felt his arms curl you in that much closer, “I don’t know that I’ve ever been the one to fall asleep first.”

“Then I will stay up with you all night,” you whisper against his lips, pressing a soft peck shortly after.

A chuckle bubbled from deep in his stomach, “I love you, darlin, but that’s really not necessary.”

You pulled away, allowing your hand to cup his cheek, smoothing over the skin as your eyes darted between his blue eyes, “You’re not going to be able to change my mind this time, James.”

He grinned, “I would love to stay up with you then.”

Your determination to stay up with him resulted in the best conversations the two of you have ever had, which was saying a lot considering you were already right up there with Steve in terms of being close to Bucky.

You talked to one another, pressed up with your fingers fumbling with one another and your legs tangled until the sun came up.

You talked about how you want kids but sometimes you’re afraid because hearing people say shit like “nobody is ever really ready” does anything but ease your anxieties. He tells you about how he loved being an older sibling and how he would forget to breathe sometimes when he held the youngest in his hands-- he thought she was the most beautiful thing to grace the earth. You squeezed his hand a little harder when he said he wishes he got to be there to see her walk down the aisle at her wedding.

You both agreed that you would love to adopt a little girl one day, even if you do end up having your own kids. You both agreed that you couldn’t fathom loving a kid any less simply because they don’t share your DNA. He got to gush about how much he loved being a big brother to Steve but how really having someone who was truly there and would never leave was something indescribably worth living for.

You knew bits and pieces about how family before but it made your stomach fill with butterflies when he talked about his siblings only for your chest to ache when you remembered that you and Steve were all he truly had left. It was nice nonetheless for you to hear him talk about them by name, telling you the biggest thing he remembered about each of them, sharing memories of Coney Island in the summers and getting them ready for school early in the morning.

You talked about childhood best friends and how you had to learn to cope with the fact that conflict isn’t the only thing that ends friendships. Sometimes distance can take its toll and you know it’s nothing compared to what he’s been through. He kisses your forehead and tells you that you can tell him anything and that none of your feelings are miniscule because they’re yours and everything about you means everything to him.

The sun starts to shine through your window when he tells you about the time that he got himself and Steve stranded because he spent all his money insisting that he could win this girl a prize at the fair. You tell him that he’s a simp.

He pulls you closer and leaves a lazy kiss on your collarbone groaning, “Yeah, but only for you,” before really dozing off.

You whisper his name a few times and get no response and you let the calming wave of sleep crash over you shortly after, a small smile spread across your lips as you do.

3 Years Later--

And you and Bucky live in a little place in Brooklyn, only a few blocks from where he grew up. He’s technically been retired for over a year but sometimes they need him. The past 4 months he’s had an excuse though, seeing as you now have a bun in the oven.

Since entering your second trimester your sleeping schedule has gone to shit. This seemingly wouldn’t be a problem but through the duration of the past few years Bucky has gotten much better at falling asleep and now he’s almost completely ready to be a father seeing as he falls asleep wherever, whenever he wants.

You’ve been hiding it for a little over a week or two that you don’t sleep until well after midnight, but one Sunday night he catches you munching on the floor in the kitchen.

He turns the corner of the hall, rubbing his eye with his metal arm, “Doll? What are you doing awake?”

“Eating?” You say, with your mouth still kind of full.

“Hm, let me join you,” he says soft, sitting across from you, his knee softly brushing yours. “How long have you been up?”

“I never went to sleep,” you admit, shyly.

He takes the bag of chips from you and lazily shoves a few in his mouth, his eyes still blinking because of the bright kitchen lights. “Why didn’t you tell me you couldn’t sleep?”

You shrug, “I already make you deal with a lot-- and you’re going to be the one staying up in about 5 months time, so I thought it fine to let you sleep.”

He shook his head softly, handing the chips back to you and taking your soda into his hands, tipping some of it into his mouth. “I want to stay up with you. You think I would ever willingly give up a single moment with you and babydoll?” He questioned.

You couldn’t help but smile, your heart fluttering every time he referred to your baby as babydoll after years and years of him calling you doll. “Thank you, Buck.”

“Until the end of the line, baby.”

“Isn’t that what you say to Steve?” you questioned, your brow cocked.

“I’ve been awake for 3 minutes, give me a break.”

40s Bucky Barnes

Warnings: I think there is actually no swearing in this. However, there might be and I just didn’t read it in such a long time.

I made my way down the street making my way to the festival to catch up with my friends. I was meeting up with Steve, Bucky, and Y/bf/n. I was, however, running a bit late, as always.

The cool breeze of the wind flowed through my h/l h/c hair and my black dress flowed to one side. No one was in the streets, not even one store was open. Mr. Stark was introducing some new things to his industry.

As I became closer to the grounds I saw lights and cheering. I knew I was very late, but as I made it to the entrance I saw the three of my friends in the front joking and laughing. Bucky's arm around y/bf/n's shoulder. Of course.

"Y/n!" Steve beamed once he saw me. I smiled and waved.

"Sorry I'm late, now come on before we miss the presentation." I rushed and hugged my dress as I rushed forward to the stage.

I pushed through people to where I could see. Which was rather hard since I was smaller than Steve, which is a lot to say.

"Hey, Doll." I felt someone poke my side. I turned around and saw Bucky and smiled up at him.

"Hey, Buck," I answered back. He smiled brightly and stared out in front of him well Y/bf/n came to stand by me.

"I think I'm going to tell him." She smiled. I looked at her and crooked an eyebrow in confusion. "I'm going to tell Bucky I like him." She whispered. I smiled through the pain.

"Good luck," I replied Wishing her the best.

"You should tell Steve also. We're all going dancing after this." She explained.

"I don't know.," I mumbled. The thing about that is ... uh, I was going to tell her I liked Bucky before she spat out and said she likes him for himself so I lied and said I liked Steve... But he's like a brother to me.

"Come on, Y/n/n, stop pushing." She giggled. I rolled my eyes and paid attention to the car that was floating and then fell down.

I giggled a bit and saw Bucky look down at me and smiled showing his pearly whites. After the presentation, we made our way out as a group but then separated because Bucky had to go find Steve.

Y/bf/n and I stood by a light post. I stared down at my feet as she continued to talk about everything she loved about Bucky. Which was mostly his looks which made me cringe knowing that she only goes for looks.

"Come on girls. Steve isn't coming." Bucky frowned as he jogged up to us.

"Aw, how come?" Y/bf/n asked. Bucky sighed and shook his head, not really wanting to explain it. I looked up at him and saw something in his eye as he walked in between us and lead us up to the bar.

Once we entered I saw Y/bf/n pull Bucky away and I made myself to a table and sat down at it. By myself yet again.

Sometimes I wish I could just talk to Bucky. I've known Bucky forever. Even longer than Y/bf/n. She just doesn't know it. Bucky and I grew up in the same apartment building. Being neighbors actually. We had no other siblings so we became friends just like that.

"Hey Doll." I turned my head and saw Bucky.

"Where's Y/bf/n?" I asked.

"She bumped into a guy and his drink spilled all over her dress and yeah. She rushed into the bathroom and is trying to wash the whiskey out of her red dress." He explained. I cracked a smile.

"She overreact?" I asked.

"Oh yeah." He chuckled and sat down in front of me.

"Sorry I was late earlier. I had some things to deal with." I explained with a small smile.

"You don't have to apologize. I heard when I was leaving." He replied. I got rid of my smile and nodded looking down at the table.

"Hey Doll, you wanna dance?" Bucky asked with a smile. I looked up at him and returned his smile and nodded. We both stood up and he grabbed my hand pulling me out onto the floor.

"Also, happy birthday." He whispered into my ear after wrapping his arms around my waist. I gave him wide eyes as I wrapped my arms around his neck. "Don't tell me you forgot." He chuckled.

"I have a lot going on right now, but thank you Bucky." I smiled.

"You're welcome. Also, can I put a thought into your head?" He asked. I hummed a response as we swayed along to the music. "I love you, ...more than my best friend." He whispered and kissed my cheek. I looked at him in surprise and felt my face heat up.

"Bucky. I-I ca-" Before I could answer him he pressed his lips against mine. Pulling me deep into his soft lips. I kissed back immediately once his lips touched mine. I stood tall on my tippy toes to meet his height and smiled into it.

We both pulled away after we both needed to breathe. We were breathing heavily trying to catch our breath with bright smiles on our faces. He leaned his forehead down to mine and touched it leaving it there before he pressed me more into his body.

"I've been waiting forever to do that." He whispered with his eyes still closed.

"Well, you don't have to anymore." I blushed and met his lips once again.
