A Guide to Being an All-rounder.
Being a student in itself is exhausting. However, the pursuit of curiosity is so rewarding that I can't even resist. Each time I define who I am, I don't remember saying I am a finance major, I am much more than that. I define myself by my interests and this has taken a while to build. An all-rounder is a person who is good at a lot of different things (academics, skills, activities, hobbies).
A how to guide:
Pick up a sport and follow it up, either by practicing or watching experts play. Mine is tennis.
What is something you wish you could do? Start working on it. For me, I wish I can speak French.
What class have you taken outside of your major that interests you I found psychology so interesting and I would read about something related to this at least once a week.
Look at nature, biology, and humanity and find what fascinates you: I am fascinated by the brain and the wonderful things its capable of doing. Every now and then I tend to read articles or watch videos that explain how the brain works. I am currently reading about neuroplasticity.
Imagine your dream self, what she knows, and begin working towards that. My dream self knows how to cook and bake, she uses her knowledge of wines to entertain her guests. She holds intellectual conversations, and she's familiar with the world of Arts and literature. With these, I am able to create leisure activities for myself that are interesting.
Take actions
Give yourself a challenge, recently I memorized all the countries in Asia. Now, I can tell what continent every country is in.
Treat learning like a game and enjoy the process.
Use your interests as leisure activities (play sports, watch a movie in French, try cooking foreign food, play a game of guessing the experts with your friends, read a small book, watch a documentary on YouTube, or do a memorization game.
Have a list of everything you have learned, you will be amazed by the things you are capable of knowing.
A part of learning is also taking breaks to rest.
Enjoy the pursuit of curiosity!

"This International Women’s Day we call on all who identify as feminists to engage in the lifelong unlearning of their biases and to be in solidarity with Palestinian women, Sudanese women, Congolese women who are experiencing an ongoing genocide." from The Slow Factory, 08/Mar/2024: caption cont. under images.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Palestine, more than 9,000 women have been brutally killed by the Israeli Occupation. 63 women killed per day.
In Sudan, 4 million Sudanese women & girls are at risk of sexual violence.
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, more than 1 million women have been survivors of sexual violence.
In Turtle Island aka the so called USA, 94% of fatal violence committed again Trans people are committed against Trans women.
This isn’t about the stats, the poverty porn or the constant shock doctrine the West desperately needs in order to be inclusive. This is a call for solidarity and collective action.
Access to feminine hygiene products, bodily autonomy and the access to necessary safe and caring spaces as women are all human rights.

Defend and Protect Black Women!!
Misogynoir medical bias is KILLING Black women disproportionately. If you know even a little history of how Black women have been systematically dehumanized and objectified in the medical industrial complex -you'd know this is FAR too common and it's despicable. These medical professionals should be losing their licenses to practice medicine.
"Black women are three to four times more likely to experience complications during pregnancy and childbirth and die from these complications compared with white women. Additionally, infants born to Black women are two times more likely to be born premature (<37 weeks of gestation) compared with infants born to white women."
"In the 19th century, J. Marion Sims performed experimental surgery on enslaved Black women without their consent to develop a cure for vesicovaginal fistula. These experiments facilitated the generations of two key health care scripts about Black women in the context of reproductive health care: (1) it is acceptable to perform procedures on Black women without their consent; and (2) Black women have a high tolerance for pain."
"Although there is a plethora of research documenting Black women's experiences of racism and discrimination while navigating perinatal care, much less has been reported regarding the relationship between racism and clinical care through the lens of clinicians' caring for Black women during pregnancy and childbirth."

Building Your Identity Capital : Creativity
This will be a 5-part series. Building your identity capital is a guide to help the wandering souls, those who have the urge to do something other than the norm.
This post is not for everyone, it's for those who want to use their time to create meaningful things for themselves.
This is how to build a creative identity capital:
1. Learn a creative skill and practice it till you gain mastery: I watched a tutorial on banana bread and I tried it. Mind you, I am not a gifted baker, I followed the recipe and it was a hit. Since then, I have made over 8 loaves and shred with my friends at school and work and they were all raving about how delicious it was. To them, my identity is more than just being a student, its also "she makes one of the best banana bread I have ever tasted.
2. Indulge in creative content: I love watching art, interior, design, baking, and painting content. They inspire em to get up do things. So watch creative people and get inspired to do more. Attend creative in-person classes as a way to have fun.
3. Challenge yourself creatively: I did not know how knit. With youtube, i began knitting in a week. Youtube is home to a lot of "how-to" videos, you can give yourself challenges of learning a new creative skill once a week. Calligraphy, watercolor painting, beaded bags, and journalling are all examples of art you can try learning.
4. Share your creative journey online: The purpose is to build your identity on multiple things. Share your painting journey or art journalling journey and create a community of people who are interested in being creative.
5. Keep a brag list of all your creative hobbies

Her name was Samiya and she was brutally stabbed in the neck and chest before she was taken to a New York hospital with her sister Sanyia (who had been stabbed in the arm), where she did not survive her injuries from her neck and chest. These sisters were just at a store, and this predator FOLLOWED them after he was rejected and attacked them. He waited for them -and he's still not caught. This is just absolutely horrifying.
Misogyny fuels violence against women -and this very clear epidemic is killing young girls and women.
I cannot imagine the degree of entitlement you think you have to anyone's time and bodies- that anyone could hold that much disdain for rejection, and is okay with exerting power, control, and violence upon another person because YOUR ego is bruised. Fuck toxic masculinity and dismantle the patriarchy until it burns to the ground because I'm so sick of seeing this.
I wish all the best to the family and loved ones of Samiya. This young teenager should still be here. And I hope the man who did this gets apprehended and faces endless misery and misfortune in his lifetime.
