Following up on the danganronpa 2 cast and v3 leys go with the Danganropa trigger happy havoc cast with reader that has a crush on them

Sayaka kinda catches on but not completely, she gets the feeling you may like her but she second guesses herself and thinks maybe you’re just really nice and is a bit unsure. She thinks you’re really sweet though and tries to send you hints she likes you too.

Leon isn’t a complete dumbass so he probably catches on to the fact you like him. He’s actually just super excited about it so he gets a bit too eager and asks you out rather quickly.

Chihiro doesn’t love themselves enough to catch onto the fact you obviously like them, but they can’t help but always get flustered by your compliments. They feel happy you seem to really enjoy their company, at the very least. But you’ll have to tell them on your own, because they won’t catch on.

Mondo gets so goddamn flustered around you, it’s quite amusing! However, he’s a clueless idiot. You’ll find that he doesn’t even think you like him romantically, instead he thinks you really admire him. Perhaps he just thinks you’re too good for a brute like him.

Ishimaru is as clueless as they come, easily the worst on this list for cluelessness but is that honestly a surprise… he gets very red in the face by your compliments and tells you he’s undeserving of your kindness, but he truly just thinks you’re being friendly.

Hifumi gets very happy about this, when he realizes you’re not messing with him like Celeste does. You’ll find that he will return the favor, and he’s a lot more confident in himself and probably asks you out.

Celeste is certainly not an idiot, so she catches on. She likes it this way, and waits for you to confess your feelings on your own accord. She likes not being more vulnerable than you, after all.

Mukuro gets so flustered! She’s happy, though she doesn’t get why you’re so nice. Junko has to tell her you probably like her, but mukuro doubts her sister a little. She needs to seriously think about it.

Junko catches on, surprise surprise. She’d rather you tell her how you feel, because in all honesty she would love to see how you’d ask her out. Hopefully you keep surprising her and do it in a unpredictable manner.

Hina doesn’t exactly catch onto you liking her but definitely takes note to how kind and friendly you are to her in comparison to others, especially the other girls. It makes her feel like she’s special to you, and the two of you are just real close.

Kyoko doesn’t completely catch on, at least at first. Mainly due to her inexperience with romance. She will eventually though, she’s the ultimate detective for a reason after all. It just takes more time than it normally does for her to figure things out.

Toko is convinced you’re just teasing her or making fun of her if I’m being honest lol. Even if you tell her you’re being genuine the doubt is there and she doesn’t bother hiding it either. It messes with her head, cause she really likes you.

Byakuya normally wouldn’t care for your nice personality and obvious feelings, but since he likes you two he takes a bit more of pride whenever you compliment him. You’ll notice he feels a lot better that day and seems to be in a particularly good mood whenever you’re being your sweet self. He tries not to show it much but he’s obvious.

Makoto always gets flustered and red in the face by your compliments. He gets the feeling you may like him, but he’s not completely sure. A suspicion, but he doesn’t have enough confidence in himself to be sure.

Original Noble Clan + Clan Leader OCs!!!

I’m suuuuper excited to introduce my third original clan, the Ceresthalassa, Clan of the Earthshakers!

About a week ago, I introduced two original clans: the “Volo”, Clan of the Healers, and the “Pyradros”, Clan of the Sun and Fire. It’s time for a third one yayy!!!!

Again, these characters aren’t necessarily exclusive to a specific/fixed setting. They can be interpreted as headcanons that exist/fit in the canon storyline, characters specific to my Millennium AU, characters that exist by themselves and don’t fit anywhere,…etc. Anything really, as I do want them to have some flexibility. So feel free to interpret them as whatever makes the most sense to you. Personally, I see them as existing in both the canon storyline as my headcanons, and in my Millennium AU. In this post I’ll be (mainly) approaching and discussing them in the context of my Millennium AU, though there will also be some references to canon/pre-canon events of my interpretation.

For context, age-wise Doris the Clan Leader is somewhere between Gejutel and Lagus. So older than Gejutel, but younger than Lagus. In terms of title/position, Doris was appointed as Clan Leader either during or even before the Previous-previous Lord’s (Raskreia’s paternal grandfather, another OC of mine) reign. She’s old! Currently, she is still active as Clan Leader in Raskreia’s reign, so technically she can be grouped with the current generation of Clan Leaders (aka Raskreia’s peers). Retirement? Lmaooo nah. Doris’ daughter and heir Marina is definitely younger than Claudia, and most likely older than Raskreia and her Clan Leaders.

The Ceresthalassa Clan is the most nature-aligned clan in Lukedonia. The Clan name itself is a combination of Ceres (“nourishment”, “harvest”) plus Thalassa (“sea, ocean”). They are one of oldest noble clans in existence. Just as their name suggests, members of the Ceresthalassa Clan can directly manipulate and control the forces and elements of nature, including but not limited to the sea, storms, earthquakes, plants, and…farming! While the degree of manipulation depends on the individual clan member, the most powerful spells are always exclusive to and casted by the pureblooded Clan Leaders and their line of heirs, who all have very powerful and much more extensive abilities than an average clan member. For example, 1.) an ordinary clan member may be able to channel their aura to push the growth of a single or few stalks of grain, while a Clan Leader may be able to grow an entire field or even several fields of grain 2.) an ordinary clan member may be able to generate a few small rainclouds/thunderclouds, while a Clan Leader may summon a super massive, devastating hurricane 3.) an ordinary clan member may be able to slightly shift the ground beneath them, like if someone wanted to switch the location of a fountain and a flowerbed, while a Clan Leader could shift entire mountains, and even the formation and very foundation of the entire land they’re standing on (though entire large scale transformations will drain them of almost all their energy and they would need to hibernate for centuries and even a millennia so this is almost never done + there usually really isn’t a reason to) and 4.) an ordinary clan member may be able to generate a few large waves or riptides, while a Clan Leader can summon an entire tsunami, raise seawater to above boiling temperature, and lower seawater to below freezing temperature, if that is what they wish.

Unlike the Volo, where every single healing spell (even the super minor ones casted by both CLs and ordinary clan members) will drain its magic caster of some energy, the Ceresthalassa’s energy drain depends on both the individual and the type of nature manipulation. For example, clan member A could do a lot of weather manipulation and still be going at it for a good while but gets tired easily after a crop-growing spell, and clan member B is the other way around. The only all rounders that have incredible stamina across all categories are, of course, the CLs and their heirs.

The Ceresthalassa have a very special role in Lukedonia, and even the entire planet, in a sense. One could say that the world could’ve lived without the other noble clans but the Ceresthalassa? Don’t even get started on advancing things such as culture and art…without them, the other species likely wouldn’t have even survived much. And the reason is obvious. Nobles don’t need food or sleep, and can virtually live in locations with extreme weather conditions and be relatively unaffected. Which is a great privilege, of course. Maybe one that even they don’t realize puts them in such advantage and comfort compared to other species like humans, werewolves, etc.

The backstory. A long time ago, a Ceresthalassa CL felt sorry for the other species that had to struggle so much to survive, and watching them get up only to fall back down and perish was very painful for him. So he couldn’t just watch them suffer, while the other nobles just sat still and simply did nothing. He rearranged many parts of the planet so they would have suitable shelter. He lowered seas, and raised lands. He gave them resilient, edible plants that would later be known as the ancestors of the crops today; he gave them food. He used the full extent of his powers for good, and his line of descendants, the future Ceresthalassa CLs, would follow in his footsteps and do the same. They quelled storms and raging seas for the humans who wanted to pass to other land. They gave them rain when there were droughts. Obviously, the Ceresthalassa were not omnipotent, because ultimately they did not own the planet, and were only capable of controlling elements once at a time, one location at a time. They did what they could to help, and left the rest to nature itself in hopes for the best, that the other species would be able to take care of themselves. And because manipulating these natural forces required the spell caster to be there physically, members of the Ceresthalassa were always running around, often traveling outside of Lukedonia to places that needed their aid. They were truly some of the busiest nobles… and still are. Doris, the current Ceresthalassa CL, has never had a single day off in her entire life. Not even when her daughter Marina was born. Talk about being a workaholic…

Anyways. Little do the humans and werewolves of today know that without this specific noble clan, they wouldn’t even be standing here as who they are right now. Sure, their ancestors could’ve survived on their own, but progress would’ve been much, much slower. Most Ceresthalassa clan members would be happy to see the world make so much progress with the help…but when is too much, indeed, too much? Which is exactly the reason why Doris, the current CL, experiences a complete attitude change and now absolutely hates specificaly modern humans and wish she had never helped them in the first place. And for a good reason, which I will explain very soon.

Regarding the Ceresthalassa’s place in canon. Jumping back to PL’s reign, Zephyrus Volo and Leona Pyradros were on a mission that required them to leave Lukedonia, so that explains their absence in the canon storyline. What about the Ceresthalassa? Well, unlike those two, Doris was very much in Lukedonia the whole time. And maybe outside of it too, when she had personal errands to run. Whether it was inside or outside of Lukedonia, her job was basically endless. She was just super, super busy with her clan and other things she had to do, so she never showed up… like at all. Inside Lukedonia? Didn’t mingle with the other nobles much, or at all. Outside of Lukedonia? Probably so focused on doing things for planet earth to the point where she didn’t really pay attention to anything else either. Simple as that. And after her daughter Marina was born and grew up, the two of them were then super, super busy together. Lots of nature related work, so much they just didn’t have time for anything else. Even in present day Millennium AU, when the Ceresthalassa’s deal has become a bit more relaxed, they still aren’t seen around as often as the other nobles.

Before I get to the character introductions, let me introduce their fighting style and soul weapon first!

The Ceresthalassa Clan is mostly known for their affinity to nature, but they’re very good at combat too. By training day and night to push the upper limits of their stamina for nature related spells, they’re also indirectly perfecting themselves for battles that last for long durations. They’re basically super hardy, for as long as they don’t accumulate injuries. For the ones who like to fight and specifically train extra to become a fighter, their advantage becomes even more obvious. Members specialize in both close range and long range combat, and can do the usual hand-to-hand fighting and aura/energy beam blasts etc. Though, their basic combat moves are almost always accompanied with some type of nature manipulation. If they’re fighting on land, they shift the ground around them. If they’re fighting on sea, they command the waves to assist them. No matter where they are, as long as their energy remains, they will always be in some sort of advantage. The best way to win against a Ceresthalassa is to somehow drag out the fight and eventually tire them out by forcing them to continuously use their bigger, heavier nature spells, because most of them are, by reflex, inclined to do so.

Soul Weapon: Eulises. A trident. The main body consists of the general color scheme of black and gold, and the symmetrical pattern on the head of the spear is that of grain stalks. Eulises’ wielder can use it as a general weapon to pierce, stab, cut, and even deliver blunt blows to enemies. It can also be used to summon stronger weather/nature spells. The top tier spells actually require Eulises in order to be activated. Eulises’ power grows when it is closer to the sea. Its ultimate skill consists of a powerful attack in which the concentrated aura it releases manifests into a colossal sea monster with tentacles, which parallels their clan symbol, the Kraken.

Doris Ceresthalassa: the current Clan Leader. A visibly older woman with prominent wrinkles on her face and hands. Hair has a lot of volume to it and looks like a giant bundle of seaweed, haha. Looks like she’s grumpy not because her resting face is simply like that, but because she actually is frowning. Constantly very worried about the state of her beloved planet Earth, and absolutely despises the other intelligent species (humans especially) because they’re literally destroying the home she loves so dearly. Her ancestors and predecessors could’ve ignored them and just let them perish. They gave them food and shelter and now this is how they choose to repay the goodwill? By cutting down forests, burning things and driving other species to extinction? By filling land with mountains after mountains of trash, and then dumping them into the oceans when there’s no more room? By infiltrating the lungs and gills of every living creature and making them suffer in misery with harmful chemicals and particles? If she knew how to time travel, she would’ve gone back in time to her ancestors and told them to just. Leave the other intelligent species alone and let them die because they’re not worth helping. Ungrateful, malicious, toxic, greedy, insatiable humans who will not stop destroying the planet to achieve their goals of what they call it, again? Glory? Riches? Fame? Shallow beings who deserve to be annihilated from the planet because their ambition is leading the world to its doom.

Doris doesn’t care about modern humans, they could die off to some mysterious cause and she wouldn’t even bat an eyelid. Maybe she even hopes that they’d suddenly die off, so the pollution and destruction of nature would stop. But Doris is generally nonviolent in temperament and is against genocide, and she won’t actually go and eliminate the humans. She just keeps imagining scenes in her head where she chokes her ancestor who started it all while screaming to his face “Don’t you dare to even think about helping them!!!”. Unfortunately that’s not an option, so. Rip. Best she can do is disguise herself as a human, and go around the world, get herself into seats of power, to pass laws and enforce measures to stop and maybe even reverse some of that pollution and damage. She probably has like 72 human identities. And she’s not doing this because she likes humans, in fact she hates them so much she hates that she has to disguise herself as one. But anything for the planet. She’s trying really hard to adapt to the modern world. Other than that, she sometimes goes under the sea and personally remove plastics from turtles’ necks and junk in creatures’ stomachs. Doris would really like a day off, but there’s just so many damn things that need her to take care of. Someone give this woman a break.

Marina Ceresthalassa: the clan’s heir, Doris’ only child, and Claudia Tradio’s younger half-sister. Yes, her father is… Lagus Tradio! (Surprise surprise. To this day neither Marina nor her older half-sister Claudia know the exact relationship between Doris and Lagus. The sisters suspect that those two could’ve been more than just friends because clearly they were close enough for Lagus to give Doris his soul fragment. Doris refuses to elaborate when asked though, so they will never know. Maybe she’ll give in and talk about one day. Who knows. Anyways) A charismatic and upbeat woman with an adorable, angelic face. Styles her hair in braids and golden hoops similar to how Claudia wears hers because she admires big sister. When Lagus betrayed Lukedonia, Marina was one of the only people who regularly visited Claudia.

In general, Marina agrees with her mother Doris when it comes to other intelligent species such as humans. They indeed don’t deserve to be helped because all the goodwill and aid they got from the Ceresthalassa, which they used to advance their own society, is getting “repaid” with nothing but disaster. Chemicals, trash, extinction, climate change, etc… not only are humans ungrateful, they also just don’t know when to stop for everyone’s good and even their own good, eh? Well, bad news for them, Marina isn’t all nice and nonviolent like her mother. In fact, Marina’s quite aggressive. Unlike her mother, who passively cleans up after the planet, Marina will show the humans the consequences of their own actions. She’ll give them a taste of their own medicine. So what Marina does is she purposely causes storms, floods, droughts, etc. Instruct plants and crops to hibernate. Don’t grow. Stay low until I say so. Let those parasitic humans starve. One of the things Marina does the most often is she’d collect trash from the bottom of the ocean floor, cause a tsunami filled with said trash, and dump aaaallll of it back onto the humans and their living spaces. Just simply giving them their shit back, like they deserve. She’d also destroy human underwater infrastructure when sea creatures report feeling disturbed in their own homes. She’d also tip over boats, and even sink them. And the humans won’t think too much, they’d just wonder why things keep malfunctioning. Unlike Doris, Marina is dangerous because she is willing to eliminate humans for the wellbeing of nature. But she doesn’t want to upset her mother, so the two of them have an agreement: give the humans a chance, a time frame. Until then, don’t eliminate them. But if they still don’t listen and time is up, then Doris will allow Marina to fully unleash herself, and let her give the humans a taste of the wrath of nature.

In her free time, Marina is a music conductor. She has her own orchestra and choir, and is in charge of Lukedonia’s grand concert hall. Sometimes her audience would get super weirded out when a sea monster casually walks on stage, seats itself among the other noble performers, and then proceed to play the violin like it’s just another day. Marina would just laugh when questioned and say “we were one performer short, so I invited one of my buddies from the waters” and then mention how her Kraken friend would even be willing to give out autographs after the concert ends.

P.s. both Claudia and Marina aren’t too much older than the current generation of Clan Leaders, aka Raskreia’s generation. There’s also some flexibility here and there but I’m inclined to headcanon that Lagus kinda just had Claudia super late. Same deal with Doris and her kid Marina.

I started very on-brand, writing for a C list character in the HPHM mobile game AND after his extremely brief and small surge of popularity. So needless to say it was a nonexistent fandom.

Oh, Prince Renathal and I are still hanging out daily.

Not sure I have one of those. I have no plans after I finish my current series except maybe to finish the AU I hiatused.

World of Warcraft (but only B list characters from the least popular expansion to date because that’s just who I am)

I suppose Renathal/Theotar, Renathal/Draven both show up in Wend in the Shadows. I wanted to stress Renathal’s desire for, but ultimate inability to cultivate, truly intimate friendships because of his political position (and also his dad being a dick).

Romantic Pairing(s) you're currently writing?

Mainly Renathal/the Maw Walker (Elisewin), although the more I float little bits of the Accuser/Curator’s story the more I wonder about writing something short just for them. I ship them super hard on the sidelines.

Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?

Well, I recently had a bug to finish the next chapter of Shadow UNIverse which had been hiatused since spring. I’m halfway done with the second to last chapter, which is exciting. Hoping I can finish it soon and not burn out again. I've included a little snippet under the cut.

"Shall I confess something?"

"Yes, please."

"I have wanted to do this for some time."

"Really?” The Maw Walker craned her neck gingerly to the right, attempting to catch Renathal's eye with her good one. “Help me wash my hair while keeping my casts out of water? That's a very specific fantasy."

Renathal’s reply was to reach around and daub soapy shampoo lather bubbles to the end of the Maw Walker’s nose, upsetting the careful decorum she had maintained throughout the undignified bathing ritual as well as her precarious balance on the edge of his claw foot tub. But she was laughing as she slipped and he was laughing as he caught her, and it was several mirth-filled minutes and inelegant contortions before both were back in position.

"The fantasy,” he explained around the dregs of amusement as he resumed scrubbing the top of the Maw Walker's head, “was to have you in my bath. I admit, this was not precisely what I pictured."

"Oh, I see." She cocked her head to the side again and Renathal could see the hint of a smile play around her puffy, bruised lips. "How did you picture it?"

“Hmm…”

He made a thoughtful sort of noise and scrubbed in silence for several seconds, as if only now considering the details of a fantasy he'd had ready and waiting for weeks.

"Well, there would certainly have been wine,” he said at last - the Maw Walker hummed her approval. "And candles perhaps. Bath salts. Bubbles."

She wiped a bit of lingering lather from the side of her nose.

"We do have those."

Renathal chuckled but otherwise ignored this interjection as he finished, “And we would both of us have actually been in the bath. And with all our limbs safely intact."

“Ah, I see,” the Maw Walker repeated, though this time the smile in it was shaky. Renathal could feel the tension settle stiffly in her shoulders as he worked shampoo through the ends of her hair “That does sound lovely. I am… sorry to disappoint.”

You gotta tell me about your other host ideas! I’m curious to know if they’re descendants of Manu or just other family members with the host family?

Sorry for the delay in responding. It took a while for me to get my thoughts into words.

Would other family members.

Since the auditions for the next host were blind castings, that means there are members of the Host family of all sizes, races, ethnicities, etc, and it's so interesting to think about. A super-powered family of benevolent manchilds scattered across the globe whose mere existence makes the world a better place.

I'll say that I owe everything to this post. It changed my life.

My Headcanon is that in the Hosts family there is a tradition of passing the torch on to various things, among these things is the yellow house, the contact with the viewer and more recently the task of taking care of Blue.

I believe this family works similar to how the Madrigal family of encanto works, they each have a special "gift" based on their interests and talents. Josh with an empathetic voice, Joe with craft manipulation, and Steve with his vision of other dimensions and other relatives would likely follow the same pattern

I still need to think a bit more about the teacher and the clown but these are the ideas I have for the Librarian, the reporter and the vet so far:

The librarian is your friendly neighborhood goth who may or may not be a witch. I'm a little torn between making them a host and making her a neighbor with a pet that goes to blue school.

Their clothes are Black + dark pink and the animal that represents them are bats 🩷🖤

They are similar to Steve in demeanor, a calm-voiced dork who is prone to daydreaming.

Their special power as a host is always knowing which object will be useful for a specific situation which is good when you're a librarian/bookseller, because you will always know which book is good for a person before they even know.

Like Josh their Handy-Dandy notebook also has a phone but for some reason it's round

Their favorite holiday is Halloween, for obvious reasons.

Their main focus as a host would be teaching the viewer how many things that seem scary aren't.

The reporter is a determined woman who can appear a little intimidating from a distance but is quite kind and goofy when you get up close.

Her main color would be orange and I'm still not sure what animal would represent her. 🧡

Her Handy-Dandy notebook is also half camera and somehow it has an internet connection.

Steve is partially why she wants to be a reporter sometimes they work together to solve mysteries (the real mystery is how they are still alive).

In addition to the camera, she also has a sound recorder, she doesn't like cell phones.

She's the type to be initially quiet, but the second you start a conversation she becomes a motor mouth. She is super excited about the things she likes.

The veterinarian is the archetype of the Disney princess, delicate and adventurous, she starts singing when she's excited, and she attracts animals when she sings.

Even if she doesn't say it, Shovel and Pail are her favorites because they have similar interests.

Her favorite color is cyan. And her stuffed animal is a lovebird. 🩵

Her special host power is controlling the speed of processes. She mainly uses it to make wounds heal faster.

She's already spent three hours on a gopher hunt, she doesn't like to talk about that day.

Think of Giselle from Enchanted as a Blue Clues host and you have her.

Thoughts on Wednesday

🚨spoilers ahead🚨

Characters

Cast: Wednesday was delightful, her dialogue in particular was a lot of fun, and Jenna Ortega did a fantastic job. Much of the supporting cast simply filled the roles of teenage stereotypes, I found 1 in particular to be incredibly irritating, and the others simply didn’t stand out to me (it didn’t help that the majority of these character’s plotlines involved unnecessary romances).

Acting: Jenna Ortega carried. She was GREAT but the majority of the side actors were rather mediocre (ranging from bland to actually cringeworthy). That mainly applies to the teenage actors. Gwendoline Christie, Christina Ricci, and Fred Armisen were good too, fun to watch, but nothing particularly remarkable (either due or a lack of screen time or simply a lack of interest).

Dialogue: Similar to the rest of my notes, Wednesday had fun dialogue but the rest were more than subpar. The supporting character’s dialogue definitely landed on the negative side of the ‘how do you do fellow kids’ scale (again, looking at one character in particular), which was pretty cringy, and made it difficult to watch at times.

Plot

Concept vs Execution: The concept was really fun. Everyone loves a good escapist mystery. The execution was very entertaining. However, it ended up way too formulaic and cliche for my liking- all of the twists were predictable. So predictable in fact, that I was able to predict all 4 supposed antagonists, both the decoys and the actual villains. And I say that as someone who’s admittedly terrible at guessing culprits in mysteries. I can almost guarantee you’ve seen this exact type of thing before.

Pacing: Pretty good! Definitely kept me engaged throughout the show, and the twists were enjoyable despite being a little obvious.

Depth: In the end this was still a rather shallow and stereotypical teen series, just with a fresh coat of paint.

Creativity and Visuals

Sets: I really loved the design for the school, it gave the show a great environment.

Costumes: Some were really good (Wednesday), others weren’t super noticeable (understandable, this is about teenagers, you can’t expect a full on fashion show), but some were more than a little ugly.

Style: Tim Burton’s approach was, per usual, really fun to watch, a classic mix of gruesome and playful. However, I feel like I should add that it was just that- classic Tim Burton. Don’t be expecting anything overtly out of the box in this department either. If you don’t like his style in every other movie he’s done, you’re not gonna like it here either because it’s exactly the same.

Overall Attraction:

Memorability: Again, in the end, this was just another cliche. As much as I appreciate the differences in tone and style from your average teen tv series, it wasn’t enough to mask the similarities plot wise.

Entertainment Value: Honestly still quite a lot of fun to watch (hey, if you’re gonna watch a shitty teen tv series, it may as well be one like this).

Did it achieve what it set out to achieve?

Honestly this is one of those cases where I’m pretty mixed. I believe this series goals were to establish a new era of Wednesday Addams and create an entertaining and fresh new teen series centering around a unique character. This was certainly entertaining and Jenna Ortega did a great job at establishing a new version of a character we all know and love. While that makes it sound like a great success, this series simply wasn’t as unique as it thought it was. Just changing the aesthetic of the stories we’ve heard a million times doesn’t make them any different at the core, or any more exciting than the other thousand times we’ve seen them.

Overall Thoughts: Disappointingly cliche and predictable, but still an entertaining show perfect for a guilty pleasure watch thanks to Jenna Ortega’s performance and Tim Burton’s style.

i beat Golden Wildfire (for the second time) last night, time for my thoughts. general spoilers on this route. this post ended up way longer than I meant it to be

overall I really super enjoy this game, I feel like it fleshes out the world of Fodlan even more and I have a lot of fun with the gameplay loop since I’m a warriors fan to begin with, combining that with 3H’s way of growing characters made for a satisfying experience. I was surprised by how good the support convos were even though some of them are quite fanservicey, they were still enjoyable. Marianne and Bernie’s support was just plain sweet.

I loved Holst and Lorenz’s dad Erwin, they were really strong additions to the cast and story which makes me excited to see the equivalents to them in the other routes. A lot of Golden Wildfire felt great for Lorenz as a character, and it was interesting to see how the characters acted differently when being thrust into positions of power earlier than they were meant to.

but that brings me to an important topic I wanna talk about which is Claude, i knew some people would not be happy with the direction his character is taken in this game but I didn’t expect them to go THAT crazy over it. Having finished it twice by now, I think he’s perfectly fine. To me Golden Wildfire shows Claude struggling to learn how to be a leader that can both trust and be trusted by his subordinates, and learning from the consequences of taking too many risks for a scheme. I’ve seen some people call what happened to Randolph a result of Claude being evil and fucked up or some shit when it was clearly a very reckless mistake, it is one of the first things that happens after he gains the power of being king and he just failed the people who were relying on him. they make a point to talk about how they are all younger than they should be to be inheriting leadership of their houses, so I think this kind of character flaw isn’t strange at all.

there are also a lot of people who felt like it didn’t make sense for Claude to go after Rhea because of what he’s like in Verdant Wind, but in that case you need to think about why he was sympathetic to Rhea in that one in the first place. He was very close with Byleth, and Byleth wanted desperately to save Rhea as well as having some clear connections with her and the goddess. aside from wanting to do right by Byleth, Claude was mainly motivated by wanting to learn the truth about the world through Rhea which he was pretty adamant about. In Golden Wildfire he’s more focused on gaining security for Leicester and not being swallowed up by Adrestia or Faerghus, since the kingdom was already harboring Rhea and Claude had spent next to no time to know her because of the events of this game he had no reason to save her or sympathise with her.

when it comes to the things I do agree are issues though, something about 3hopes is that because they expect you to have knowledge on all the rest of 3 houses there are some big plot points that are kind of glossed over, one of them being the reasons why the empire think rhea bad in the first place. Claude mentions it as one of the reasons why he wants to take her down but he doesn’t go into any details so it feels a little superficial. I will also say that I miss the curiosity aspect of Verdant Wind in this game, although I enjoyed the route a lot I can’t say it lives up to that one.

I spent so long talking about Claude I forgot to talk about the ending, it SUCKED, I mean the final battle was awesome but what the heck is the deal with it ending so vaguely? There is no epilogue or true conclusion, the characters are constantly talking about how it’s ‘not over yet’, and even in the route where you get to learn (most of) the truth about Arval there are plenty of unanswered questions. It’s not the same as like Fates’ endings for example where they at least actually end the war and have closure and a final scene, then leaving off with some intrigue. Narrator Jeralt is literally just like “Claude suggested that Edelgard and Dimitri stop fighting but things are still unsure! the end” like what the fuck dude

Scooby-Doo Binge Day 21

So, I did another 10 hour binge today! Unfortunately, the stuff I watched hasn’t been as enjoyable as my last 10 hour binge. Frankencreepy was great, though it’s definitely lower on my list than it was before the binge. It’s still a super fun movie, though! Some really funny scenes and really cute gang moments.

Ghastly Ghost was fun too, Velma was adorable getting so excited about Soccer. Beach Beastie was great, Fred getting over his net addiction was funny and the gang helping him avoid nets was cute.

Now, on to the other two movies I watched. I didn’t really like either of them. I may have even…disliked one of them 🫢 I’ll give them another watch before I cast my final verdict, but it’s not looking too good for Moon Monster Madness or Kiss.

The latter felt surprisingly bland to me. It had very few cute gang moments and it focused a lot on other characters that I didn’t care too much for. Not saying it’s a bad movie, it just wasn’t for me. Maybe I just don’t like the movies with big cameos since I didn’t super enjoy Wrestlemania, either. I liked it more than Kiss, though. Daphne’s whole thing with Starchild was weird and I wasn’t a fan. There was a Fraphne jealousy plot and I have no idea if they’re together or not, even more so than usual!

Now, onto Moon Monster Madness. This is the one that I may dislike. I was a bit surprised because I heard good things about it, but I did not have a fun time with this movie. I’m glad they gave us a cute gang moment at the beginning with them cheering for Daphne before her driving test, because that was pretty much my only “awe” moment. The rest of the movie was the gang not talking to each other and Velma being mean to Daphne. I suppose the reason they gave for her behavior makes a bit of sense, but it doesn’t justify the level of maliciousness she exhibits! It only served to make me angry. There were certain lines that really got on my nerves, I don’t think I can say it all here, I may need to make a separate post. The best part of the movie was Ridley, I had a great time with her.

Finally, I got about halfway through season 1 of Be Cool Scooby-Doo. Surprisingly, I’m not enjoying it very much. It’s not about the art style, I’m able to look past it tbh. It’s mainly about the dynamics. There’ve been very few sweet gang moments so far and it’s making me sad. This show probably has the most self-involved portrayals of the gang ever. Well, except for Daphne, she still seems like she cares

I’m really not getting the vibe that they’re best friends or that they really care about each other. It’s still a funny show, so that keeps me from outright disliking it, but there are so many moments I don’t like. The gang not caring that Daphne’s birthday is overlooked or Scooby allegedly never being brave enough to have ever saved any of his friends are examples of characterizations that don’t jive well with me.

Anime Recommendations!

Hi everyone, I hope y’all are safe and happy! With quarantine still in place (at least in my country), I’m gonna keep the random rec lists coming! I’ve been watching a lotttt of animes and rewatching favourites, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites of all time! A lot of them are pretty mainstream, but for my friends who aren’t really into anime, these will get you hooked! In no particular order, let’s get started!

1. Snow White with the Red Hair, 24 episodes

This is hands down my favourite anime of all time. This shoujo anime make me feel so happy and it’s so wholesome, honestly such a feel good anime. Without spoiling too much, it’s about a herbalist named Shirayuki who ends up having to flee her home country and ends up meeting Prince Zen and goes to live in his country. The cast of characters in the anime is so good, there’s not a character to dislike. The genuine build up of friendship and eventual romance is just so sweet please watch.

2. Demon slayer (26 episodes)

One of the best anime I’ve watched this past year. This anime has amazing plot, awesome animation and a great cast of characters. This anime follows Tanjiro as he becomes a demon slayer after a demon killed his family. Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko were the only survivors but Nezuko was turned in a demon and now Tanjiro is on a journey to change he back into a human. If you are into anime with amazing fight scenes, I highly recommend.

3. Hunter x Hunter (148 episodes)

I am currently watching this anime and it honestly made it onto my lists of favourite anime super quickly. The series starts with Gon and his quest to become a pro hunter and find his dad and goes on from there. With so many episodes and arcs, you can’t stop watching. The characters immediately hooked me on this show, Killua and Gon’s friendship is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen in anime, I literally want to adopt both of them. This anime is so heartwarming but also kinda dark and action packed.

4. Haikyuu!! (73 episodes, on-going)

My favourite sports anime my god. Haikyuu follows a high school volleyball team as they try to make it to nationals. This series made me so much more emotional than I thought it would, but you get so involved with the team and characters and want them to succeed. All of the characters from all of the teams are also fantastic and hilarious. If you need a fun but exciting anime, please please please watch Haikyuu!!

5. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (64 episodes)

Where to even begin. I would say this is one of the most popular anime and for good freaking reason. Without giving too much away, this anime follows brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric as they go on a quest to get their bodies back. Honestly this is one of my fav animes, if you like awesome fight scenes and really intriguing plot, you will love this anime.

6. Yona of the Dawn (24 episodes)

Another amazing anime but sadly, unfinished. I think this anime is best to watch w/o knowing very much. Just know that there is really good characters and character development and a very attractive love interest :))))

7. Soul eater (51 episodes)

One of the first animes I ever watched and as I remember it’s hella awesome, if you like halloween then the whole atmosphere of this anime will intrigue you. The fight scenes in this are really fun and so are the characters. If you need a fun medium length anime, I would recommend this one!

8. Inuyasha (193 episodes)

This anime is worth all the hype in my opinion. The plot was great, the characters are fantastic and romance is so freaking cute I can’t. I’m also a sucker for asshole characters who are secretly really sweet.

9. Fruits Basket (2019) (25 episodes (S1), S2 on-going)

This is the cutest anime. The whole cast characters is amazing and you get so attached so fast. The protagonist is so sweet and optimistic and I really just wanna protect her. I went into this knowing next nothing and I think that’s the best way to do it. The 2001 version is good too but 2019 has better animation and is closer to managa (and has more episodes!).

10. My Hero Academia (88 episodes, on-going)

I love this anime with my whole heart. There is an adorable cast of characters and amazing fight scenes, I love this sm. It’s set in a world where like 95% of the population has ‘quirks’ which are basically super powers but not all of them are super powerful. Super heroes protect cities and the anime follows a high school where the students are training to become heroes. The main character is born without a quirk but through some crazy circumstances he ends up acquiring one. In my opinion this anime is worth the hype.

11. Ouran Highschool Host Club (26 episodes)

This one is wild. Ouran Highschool Host club is so iconic and it’s hilarious, I laughed out loud watching this one so much. Honestly I went into this knowing nothing and I think its funnier that way.

12. Yuri!!! On Ice (13 episodes)

THIS ANIME. The first sports anime w/ canon LGBTQ+ romance and its beautiful. I love the style, the skating, the music, the characters, just everything about it. This follows Yuri Katsuki, a professional figure skater from Japan and his skating career. After messing up a major championship, Yuri is lost and doesn’t know what to do w/ his career. After seeing a video of Yuri skate, his idol Victor, a skating legend, shows up to be his coach. Please watch this anime.

13. Attack on Titan (62 episodes, on-going)

If you are looking for a badass action anime this is the one for you. Humanity has fallen to the mercy of giant man-eating titans, and the people that survived live within a walled city to keep the titans out. This anime is a little disturbing and violent but it is so badass. Also Levi, the most badass character ever, makes this entire anime worth watching.

14. Ao Haru Ride (12 episodes)

Hands down my favourite romance anime. This anime is so freaking cute and it gave me so many fuzzy feelings. The animation is also super nice so that is always a plus. It follows Futaba and Kou who liked each other in middle school but were separated. They meet again in high school but they have both changed so much. If you want a romance anime I really recommend this one.

15. Naruto (720 episodes)

This is a freaking classic and really long. Almost everyone and their mother has heard of this anime or watched some of it before. Basically it’s about ninjas and follows mainly Naruto Uzumaki who want to eventually be the leader of his village but his ninja skills need a lot of work. I honestly didn’t think I would love this anime as much as I did but its just so good. It is a very big commitment to finish though so be prepared.

16. Your Lie in April (22 episodes)

Well this anime is literally beautiful. It is centered around 2 teens w/ major musical talent. It gets deep very fast but its also light hearted and wholesome. This anime made me cry like a baby so get your tissues ready.

SBI ACTOR AU BRAINROT LETS GO.

This is just a list of stuff I´ve written down for an SBI/DSMP actor AU that´s been living in my mind rent free. I´m currently working on a oneshot for this AU so stay tuned!

list is under the cut because it´s LONG and I want to be polite to your feed.

SBI FAMILY WITH TECHBUR TWINS AND TOMMY ALL BEING PHIL AND KRISTIN’S BIOLOGICAL KIDS THANK YOU.

They’re all actors, or just big personalities in general-

Kristin is a little more lowkey, she’s had acting roles before, but she’s more like the backbone of the family that keeps everyone together, since life can be hectic when everyone’s eyes are on you.

Phil has his own TV show where he’s a winged adventurer who travels around a huge fantasy world, explores the massive structures and interacts with the deity’s and creatures inhabiting it! (Biggest moment in the series was totally The Battle For Endlantis)

Wilbur has been acting since he was a child, starring in a series called “Soot House” for most of his early to late teen years, before the series ended. (Disney child star Wilbur GSKFJSJHSHDEHSH)

Wilbur also absolutely still made his ARG.

Despite taking roles here and there, Wilbur quickly moved on to direct and act for his own series and movies, like a small series called “Earths Empires” that sadly didn’t last long, but he got to star his family and friends in it, so it was fun nonetheless!

Wilbur also loves music and later on goes to start Lovejoy with his friends, which he then focuses more on than acting, but still manages to juggle both careers. (I mean really? This man only doing only one thing? As if.)

Techno is a good actor, but he is even better at martial arts and has a nag for competition. Which is why he’s part of a competitive series called “Hypixel” which is a really random wacky series, that puts the actors in situations where they need to complete challenges and Techno is of course a beloved contestant because TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES!

Technoblade is obviously not his real name, but the alias he uses in Hypixel. Yet everyone just calls him that now because he is very iconic with his long pink hair, golden crown and the pig mask he wears with his very royal looking dress style.

Since Hypixel lets the actors pick their own brand and looks, Techno honestly doesn’t change much from when he’s on screen compared to when he’s off screen.

Techno actually dislikes the attention outside of work and tends to wear different kinds of face masks with cool designs on them. (One specifically loved by the public is a light pink face mask with golden embroidered tusks on the sides, based off his Hypixel brand.)

Tommy was firmly kept out of the spotlight as much as Phil and Kirstin could manage. All of his childhood and also his early teen years, he never had any acting roles apart from like school plays and normal kid stuff...

It’s all due to Phil and Kristin realizing letting Wilbur be a child actor/star was a big mistake that they didn’t want to repeat. (The pressure was too great and it kinda fucked Wilbur over due to the harsh nature of the acting world.)

Tommy has always been interested in the acting world though, he wanted to be cool like his big brothers but had to wait... So instead he made his own little films together with his friend Toby! (Better know as Tubbo because that’s just what everyone calls him) Who just so happened to be in the same boat as him, regarding the whole “my family does acting but I’m too young and not allowed” thing.

The two of them just made silly little comedy skits, but they’d get a decent viewing on Youtube and were quite enjoyable.

( Tubbo is related to Schlatt, who is a well known actor as well. Just like Phil and Kristin, he didn’t want Tubbo to be exposed to the actor world too early. Mainly due to he himself going down a pretty harsh path, because of diving straight into it at an early age. He is better now and a really good dad! )

Tommy did eventually start appearing occasionally on Hypixel because Techno was on there.

Later on Tommy got his first role in an actual series, it was “Earths Empires” that was directed by Wilbur, mainly because Phil and Kristin thought it to be a good and safe place to start.

Tommy’s very first BIG role was when him and Tubbo were cast for a new series called “The Dreamer” (or something).

Tommy got to play a young and chaotic teen called “Tommy” (the writers liked his name, thought it fit the character well). While Toby’s character was named “Tubbo” (the writers found his nickname really endearing), who was gonna be Tommy’s best friend and partner in crime.

When being cast for “The Dreamer” Tommy once again got to meet the actor called Clay, who he had met in the past due to Clay having been starred alongside Techno a few times. This time, he was the person that was gonna play the character Dream in the series.

Clay was a man who seemed to be constantly increasing in fame due to starring in a series of films called “Manhunt”. Where he was a clever and agile man, who had to survive while being on the run from hunters who wanted to kill him. The number of hunters seemingly increasing every movie.

Funny enough the actors who played the hunters from the first “Manhunt” movies, George and Nick, also starred in the new series, but this time they would be Dream’s friends called George and Sapnap, Which was more close to their actual real life relationships as well.

The Disk Saga was a huge success and the series very quickly grew in popularity! Tommy was very happy to be one of the main characters alongside Tubbo.

Tommy’s own fame started to grow more rapidly after that, becoming a very beloved character and actor very quickly.

Of course the family was very proud of Tommy, but Phil and Kristin were still a little cautious, trying not to overbook his schedule and still let him be a kid outside of all this.

Wilbur was of course cast for the new L’manberg independence arc and OH MY GOD THE FANS WENT WILD.

Tommy and Wilbur’s brotherly bond shone through a LOT in their acting and the writers even changed the script slightly to make them more pseudo brothers, since their characters weren’t canonly blood related.

Wilbur was also a co-writer, along side playing the character that was dubbed after him “Wilbur”.

Wilbur´s character made Tommy super uncomfortable during the pogtopia arc and it made their life outside of work a little more complicated.

Techno gets cast into the series during the pogtopia arc as well and Tommy and Wilbur are both super excited to work with Techno on set.

Techno gets to keep his name as well because at this point the writers have let most of the cast keep their real names, so why not keep it going?

At the end of the L´manberg independence arc Phil joins (out of all the actors, only Wilbur knew he was joining the series.) and kills Wilbur as the second season ends with L´manburg in shambles and the fans projectile crying about it.

Brothers Pranking MC On Halloween Headcanons

Lucifer

He doesn’t actually want to like, scare scare you, just give you a little frighten. I don’t think he’d go as far as to use his demon form to scare you because it could go one of two ways

You’re new to the Devildom and he could give you a heart attack or something and he really doesn’t want to deal with that paperwork.

You’ve been in the Devildom for a while and his demon form won’t actually scare you, so the scare prank won’t be that satisfying to him.

So he’d just do something simple, yet sure to get a little squeal or maybe even a scream from you. Realistic spider chilling in your shower for you to see when you wake up first thing Halloween morning. He doesn’t have to see it to enjoy hearing your fear.

Mammon

Worst pranker. He doesn’t intentionally want to hurt you, but somehow it ends up that way. How did it end up that way, he’s not sure. But now you and Lucifer are glaring at him and you have a cast on your arm, and how was he supposed to know popping up out of nowhere in his true demon form next to the stairs would cause you to fall back and flip down the stairs? Why is everyone mad at him?! Whaddaya mean he’s not invited to the Halloween party?! That’s goin a little too far, dontcha think?!

Leviathan

The pranker who doesn’t even give the prank time to set in before he told you that it was he who did it. His pranks are more of just… an inconvenience, and I don’t think he’d use his demon form either. It would be too much work, and he doesn’t actually want to hurt you, Y/N! Do you know how much trouble he’d be in?! He could get his video games taken away as a punishment or something. He’d be the one who puts Vaseline on the doorknob to your bathroom so you’re running a little late to the Halloween party because you can’t get into the bathroom to fix your hair.

Asmodeus

Honestly, his prank doesn’t even involve having to be in contact with you. He doesn’t have to use his demon form, although what he does would be considered truly demonic. When you went to start getting ready for the Halloween party, he put a spell on all of the mirrors in his room. The spells weren’t noticeable at first, and that was the point, but gradually, the mirror would start changing your image to make it seem like pimples and zits and boils are forming all over your face. Of course, you’d freak out, and he’d laugh hysterically and somehow turn this prank into a spiel on why you should spend more time with him for daily and nightly skincare routines so that never happens. Anything to have his favorite MC close to him.

Satan

His true form? Why would he waste his time doing that when he can scare you so much more without the extra work. He won’t stop at one scare either, I mean, it is Halloween! He surely isn’t going to waste the day and deliver one measly scare. He will quietly follow you around, sneaking around corners only to pop out at you. It was so easy too. You never got used to it either, always giving him that adorable little squeal and that hysterical jump before scolding him for almost giving you a heart attack. That didn’t stop him though, it only urged him on more. Sleep with one eye open, maybe even wait to sleep until 12am, because he won’t stop until Halloween is officially over.

Beelzebub

Prank? That sounds fun. His pranks are more… wholesome. They wouldn’t even be labeled as pranks. Of course, he would never show you his true form unless you really wanted to see it, mainly because he cares about you so much, he would never use his true form to terrify you, that’s just so mean! He’ll cover your body in Belphies pillows before you even wake up Halloween morning, peeking through a crack in the door to watch your reaction before walking in and laughing hysterically because he “totally got you”. What ended up being the real prank though, even though it was purely accidental, was when he made you lunch and accidentally dripped a bit of spicy newt sauce on your plate. Ended up apologizing over and over because “really Y/N! That wasn’t a prank at all, I’m sorry!”

Belphegor

Why save good pranks for one day? That’s no fun. So he started a little early, kind of a build up to the real prank in a way. He snuck into your dreams, showing you his true, chasing you through your dreams, absolutely terrifying you. He went about the day, listening to you tell him about your nightmares, his face straight as he nodded, pretending to sympathize with you. Then, when you finally went to sleep, he made his move, going straight to your room and standing next to your bed in his true form. He had given you the nightmare again, now all he needed to do was wait for you to wake up… and oh when you did he was not disappointed. The blood curdling scream you let out woke up half the house and he couldn’t be prouder.

Ever get so upset you make a Tumblr account to vent?

I haven’t even listened to The Penumbra Podcast yet but it’s on my list because it’s insanely popular and the cosplays I’ve seen are hot as hell (A+ to all the cosplayers I’ve seen you’ve done great work). Now, with the recent news surrounding the podcast, I’ll wait till it’s done if I ever do get into it. I’m Asian and part of the LGBT community but I’m not nonbinary so I can’t say much about the trans represention in the art but I wanted to add my two cents on the matter as a person of color and someone examining the situation from the outside. Also, before I get deeply into it, I’m not the only person of color with opinions on this matter so if people have their own frustrations and criticism with the racism in The Penumbra Podcast and/or the new artist they hired, definitely listen to them too. These are my own personal opinions, and I’m sure other people will disagree and that’s fine. We’re all going to have different views on this so bear that in mind. Also, feel free to correct me or add anything if I’ve missed some information. Here’s a great breakdown of the whole situation for those that don’t know what happened. Finally, I was very hesitant to post this, but I felt it was important because I make a statement at the end on how race should be presented in a podcast format so if you are interested in making a podcast and want to have a diverse range of characters, please skip to the end to read those thoughts.

I’ll start off by saying, I’m not even that upset with the new artist that The Penumbra Podcast hired. I know that statement alone is controversial but I don't personally know them, and I’m not going to judge who they are as a person by a few pieces of art they’ve made. They are the least of the problems that I have here. Since the announcement and the backlash, I’ve been scrolling through the artist’s Instagram account and I can tell why people find the designs offensive, but I’m also comparing the designs to the artist’s other work, and I honestly believe that’s just their style. They’ve exaggerated the features of just about every character they’ve made, regardless of race or gender. From what I’ve seen the sharp angles and overly round curves in the anatomy that make some of the character’s features more jarring are how they prefer to draw. I’m sure they’re capable of drawing more realistic proportions but for the most part they’re art aims to call attention, be bold, and create distinguished features. Not inherently a bad thing on its own.

And yeah I’d understand the issue if this were a scenario where the artist heard how these characters acted in the podcast and thought “hey, obviously this character is a black woman because they are super strong and therefore must have big muscles, no other woman could look like that” or “hey, this character has to be Asian because they act super seductive sometimes better draw them as such.” But from my understanding the race was already decided by previous official artists and a general description of the characters were already generated by the audience, similar to how The Magnus Archives leaned towards drawing scrawny Jon with black, greying hair and dark skin. The new artists couldn’t really change those features even if those features aren’t described in canon because a depiction that strayed too far from popular fandom interpretation would make the character’s unrecognizable to the fanbase.

I think the reason this became such a big issue for most people is because the new Penumbra artist used their exaggerated art style when making these characters and people of color and nonbinary folks already see themselves drawn as these exaggerated caricatures all the time (with those images being used to further discriminate against them). I’m sure the artist didn’t mean for their art to be offensive, but that of course doesn’t change how it was received.

According to some, the poses and expressions the artists chose did not fully represent the characters entirely and only served to further perpetuate harmful stereotypes, and I’ll have to take their word for it because I still haven’t listened to the podcast so I have no idea how the characters act. But again much of the criticism is based on the one line-up and doing a deeper dive into the artist’s work I managed to find artwork that was much less offensive. Here some art where Vespa is depicted in a non-violent pose and one where Vespa is in a threatening pose but not an overly violent one. Here is Peter drawn in a non-seductive pose. Hopefully, the artist truly does keep the criticisms in mind as they work on the new official art. I’m just not the type of person that wants to get the pitchforks out and cause this particular person to lose a job they seemed really excited about over their old character line-up, especially when that person is also part of a marginalized group.

Again, that’s just my opinion on that particular artist. Those who are offended by their art are still valid in how they feel, and the artist should absolutely take their criticism to heart to better how they represent the characters.

What I’m more upset about is that I think The Penumbra Podcast should never have released official art for their characters in the first place and that’s their mistake that they refuse to own up about. They have made it clear that the story was never meant to portray characters of colors, a fact emphasized by the fact they hired mostly white actors from the start. They only started releasing art of the characters to get a profit. And the thing is they know what they did was wrong. All I had to do was search Penumbra Podcast racism and there is a note on their website saying that they archived some old official art.

“We have discontinued all Penumbra merchandise that uses the original character designs, and in the meantime, any profits on the sales of that merchandise will go to the For The Gworls project. We also realize that the depiction of these characters as POC, while not appropriate for us to use in our marketing and merchandise, has nonetheless become personally meaningful to many POC listeners. For that reason, and because we do not wish to distance ourselves from our mistake, we are keeping these images on our website for archival purposes. Though we do want to make it clear that many of the main/featured voice actors are white and that we did not write the characters to represent any specific POC experience, you are, as always, free to imagine these characters in any way that you like.”

I went to their shop and they still sell posters and pins with the character’s faces on them, but they are donating it to a good cause so hopefully that stays the same. However, I still find it a little uncomfortable that they are still selling character merch and have plans to continue selling character merch. They have no right to dissuade the fans that already found representation in the characters, but they also have no right to profit off the representation that was built, regardless if they made the story.

Let’s compare this to another piece of popular media. I love Avatar the Last Airbender and, I liked the ATLA voice actors just fine but there should have been more people of color doing voice acting behind the screen too. The voice actors for that show were mainly white too, however, the creators knew that they would be making poc characters. That’s what makes the difference. Did they still choose to go with mostly white voice actors? Yes. Could they have done better and pay more people of color? Also yes. But I’m not as furious at them because they did their research on the cultures they were basing the ATLA world off of and intentionally gave us a show where Asians could see characters that looked like them represented on the screen. The Penumbra Podcast did not do any of that. Again, they openly admitted that it was never their intention to make the character’s people of color when they made the podcast so that goes to show no research was made to properly represent specific cultures. The color of the character’s skin in their official designs therefore became more of aesthetic choice rather than representation, and it wasn’t even their aesthetic choice to begin with!

Race isn’t a color you can just throw onto the character because you feel like it. So I want this to be a lesson to anyone that wants to make a podcast: if you want to include poc characters please do some research into the cultures you plan to represent the way you would with any other form of media. Just because the audience can’t see the characters and just because it’s harder to smoothly introduce the character’s appearance doesn’t mean you’re allowed to be lazy on how you present the characters. Do research before you start writing the first episode and take the time to hire poc actors. Hiring poc actors is actually the least that can be done to show representation. Also, since the audience cannot visually see the race of the characters on a podcast and it can’t typically be described the way you would in a book, you’ll have to be creative. It’s not my job to say how, but my suggestions would be, before the fans come up with their own image of the character, you need to establish race in the first few episodes or release character profiles on a website so that the fans know you canonically intended the characters to be of a certain race even if you aren’t able to mention it in the actual podcast. If you are unwilling to do any of these then the best route is to avoid stating race at all and allow the audience to build their own representation into your form of media. However, once this happens, you are not allowed to profit off popular fan interpretations. You lose all rights to create official art or images of the characters. You cannot use “we have a diverse cast of characters” when you market your story. It doesn’t matter whether you created the content or not, you did not create the representation for those minority groups.

It’s one thing for fans to build their own inclusivity into a form of art like a podcast, but it’s another thing for the creators who never worked to make the representation happen to take advantage of the representation that the listeners built for themselves. Thank you for attending my TedTalk.

at long last, im so excited to announce that this ask blog is officially open! many people know I’ve been working on this intro for roughly five weeks, and I’m very excited to finally share it- possibly as excited as I am to FINALLY begin telling this story!!!

first of all, tumblr completely ruined the quality of that last panel- if you wanna see the full sized gif (warning you now, it’s enormous), you can find that here! And, if the gif is hard to read/hard to view, there’s a static version of this panel below the cut!

There’s also a ton of extra information that could answer some questions you might have, as well as a list of potential triggers to watch out for in the future! However, it is really long, and when I say really long, I mean it’s chapter-in-a-book-long so please don’t feel obligated to read it unless you have extra questions/have some bad triggers you wanna make sure to avoid.

Otherwise though, I can’t wait to see what kind of questions you guys send these two! One has to wonder… where in the world are they headed off to in the dead of night…

And now for some extra info on things going forward.

On every single canon update, there will be a description of themes in this story that could unsettle or discomfort some viewers. I’ve included tags to blacklist, and explained exactly how these situations might arise so folks who are sensitive to this kind of thing can prepare themselves accordingly!

I would recommend at least skimming this list if you know you have some bad triggers! This story will never get too dark or intense, as I’m attempting to stay true to the original spirit of MSA, but this doesn’t mean it won’t touch on those themes at all.

also, in regards to how much of this art is hand drawn by me- the honest truth is 99% of this is entirely freehanded. I took colors from the videos, but otherwise only used them as reference. However, if I ever used a canon asset to help me, I will always specifically say what exactly was borrowed directly from canon in a way that was more than just using images as reference and taking colors. for this post specifically, I’ll word it a little differently, but this will all be much tidier in the future.

the van asset is 97% freehanded by myself- I did take measurements of the canon asset, and marked my canvas so I’d know the width and height of the van, and vaguely marked where the tires would be.  I did trace the antennae ontop, as well as the cloud decals, one of the curves on the right side of the windshield, part of the door window at the very bottom lefthand corner, and the rear view mirror. The logo was not recreated, I directly took that and just altered the colors to fit the van. Other than that, everything you see on that van was freehanded. The van was also the only thing I used a canon asset to help me with for creation of it, meaning that the rest of the art in this introduction is entirely freehand.

moving on from that- updates will not take an entire month like this did. i will not be doing eight full color illustrations for every single update, and for right now, at the minimum, they’ll happen weekly! i can provide more information going forward once I work out how I’m going to go about things a little better, since things won’t be as huge as this introduction was. don’t worry though, the quality of the art itself will stay the same throughout the whole story!

and yes, lewis and vivi are in this too! there’s a big cast of characters, and lew and viv are just as much at the center of this story as arthur and mystery are- don’t worry, you’ll see them plenty soon enough!

finally, before we get to the content warning stuff, if you ever have any questions about how I’m running things, or need clarification on anything, please let me know! I’m happy to explain things in more depth if needed!!! and now, here’s the last chunk of this INCREDIBLY long introduction. ~~~ WHAT FOLLOWS IS A VERY LONG (!!!), IN DEPTH LIST OF THINGS VIEWERS MIGHT ENCOUNTER IN THIS STORY THAT COULD TRIGGER THEM. If you are not super sensitive or have very intense triggers, you don’t really need to read what follows unless you want to. Otherwise, I would at least skim this, so you know what tags to block so you won’t have to see this type of content.

Don’t let any of this worry you too much, by the way! This story is very likely not ever going to get extreme in any manner, I just like to be very cautious, just in case!

Also keep in mind that you can always ask me to add tags to a post, and it’s highly unlikely I will refuse said request. If I do, it will be for a very good reason, and I’ll explain it thoroughly, as well as remain open to any discussion about it. With that in mind, here are things to be aware of:

CHARACTER DEATH/REMOVAL FROM STORY: There may be characters in this story that you will get attached to that end up dying or not being in the story at all or as much as they were before. This story has chances for different outcomes depending on asks, but there are some things I have set in stone and a few of them involve these themes, so please be mindful of that. The tags to blacklist to avoid updates that touch on this specifically are #character death or #character removal.

DISTURBING CONTENT: This is vaguely worded because it is a bit of broad umbrella. There may be themes of body horror, gore, violent/upsetting/disturbing depictions of death (not any worse than Lew’s death, if it ever is I’ll be sure to specify ahead of time), creepy/unsettling designs and environments, so on and so forth. The tag to blacklist to avoid updates that include anything I consider to be disturbing to view is #disturbing content.

ANGST: This story will get sad, and broach on themes of abandonment, loss, trauma, depression, paranoia, self-hate, and things in this nature. What I can immediately promise is this story will NEVER have themes of suicide or self-harm. I do not feel this story needs to go there, nor do I wish to take it there. Also, while there is angst, I do not believe in beating characters up mercilessly- the angst is for the story and their development. This is not going to be a story that is only angsty. However, if any sort of angst upsets you, the tag to blacklist to avoid updates that include heavier, angstier themes is #angst.

PARANOIA: A few of the characters often get a sense of being hunted or followed, or something lurking around the corner, which can be upsetting to some viewers. A few characters may occasionally have moments where they express their anxieties in depth. The tag to blacklist to avoid updates that include heavy mentions of paranoia/depictions of it/make the characters (and potentially audience) feel paranoid is #paranoia.

UNREALITY: Lewis has some powers that can warp space and create illusions, and potentially will be in situations where he uses them in ways that could mess with people’s perception of reality. This can be very uncomfortable for some people to view, so in updates where this may happen, the tag to blacklist is #unreality.

SUGGESTIVE THEMES: This story will NEVER be explicitly NSFW, and will rarely ever feature these themes at all. It is mainly for the occasional joke here and there, but absolutely nothing more. However, if any implications of something slightly more adult make you uncomfortable, the tag to blacklist here is #suggestive themes.

ANIMAL HARM: Mystery may enter situations where he ends up getting hurt during this story, though he will never endure any kind of situations that mimic real life animal abuse. If seeing an animal be harmed in any way remotely upsets you, the tag here to blacklist is #animal harm.

Yes Malcolm because unfortunately all marginalized people look through a lens of life that is inherently political because of the world they live in.

He is so mad and upset and had a lot on his chest. But I think he Malcolm and Sam are talking about something thats an issue and a non issue. Being critiqued for you art is hard but also Malcolm is not super self aware. He's like a stand in figure of for example rich depop sellers who wanna be oppressed so badly they yell at others instead of examining their own personal behaviors and ethics.

Oh Marie, when you know the spark is gone and you pick fights because.

One critic I have for most of hollywood actors is they learn their cry and that is it. A change from this is Margot Robbie, I adore her fluctuations of crying being similar but the crying is carried differently for each character. If I had to say any actor that does a cry scene amazing its this woman right here (Amy Adams)

You stole her story from her and gave it away, she has a right to be upset and angry and a rubber band ball of emotions.

Citizen Kane, not the cinematography, but the story is it even that good? (Unpopular opinion but meh, maybe in my rewatch it will be better.)

But that is what people want authenticity and whatever authenticity means to them. What is real for one is false for another.

To be honest look at the criticism of Euphoria, well earned, but a lot of people were like this isn't real even though he literally wrote about his own life. People said it was inauthentic like....wtf.

Ahh the smoking is just a habit, he quit and she didn't.

CAST ZENDAYA IN A HORROR MOVIE PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING. Get Lupita and Zendaya and some more black actors preferably less known ones in a horror movie. One with a interesting script and story, directed by Regina King. Please and thankyou.

I love Marie yep that was amazing.

Behind every great man is a greater woman, one that deserves her credit for how she has stood behind. I wonder the stories of those women, what they have sacrificed or not sacrificed. Their thoughts and feelings when the world is surrounding their partner and views them as a plus one. (I'd write a short script about this but I think do I have the time, can I, or am I equipped ?)

He is a shitty person for bringing up his exes, like she even said I don't wanna know any of that.

Imagine being on anti depressents and rarely having a sex drive and then when you do your partner starts talking about their exes and tearing you apart for all your faults.

I love when you see peaks of Zendaya's cadence in roles.

Tension, what if's and he didn't even bring her up in his speech.

Marie to herself and the audience:

He is not afraid that he will loose her but as my character says in my unreleased story, "i can't wait til you give me a fucking reason to leave your ass." Malcolm expects everything in order for not even doing the bare minimum and she is only asking him for something as simple as consideration. She just wants him to be considerate. He wants to get married and considers their relationship like rolling down a hill at full speed and he cannot apologize, he cannot be considerate, and he cannot admit his wrongs. He can only offer her I love yous that he probably does mean but he does not back up outside of what he's done for her in the past. The past which was more of her experience than his and he sees his part in it as a burden. He doesn't use his own vantage point of the past to further his career he uses her. He does all of these things without a real apology or thankyou because he is not afraid to loose her.

The restrictions of quarantine and the panorama have made Sam's writing very no frills. I wonder how other films from other directors and writers that are filmed in small contained crews like this will be structured. But this was a very good movie gonna add to my letter box 3.3-3.5

Ratings/overall thoughts:

Script is like a C+, B- : I could go into my heavier big brain thoughts on the script but I don't feel like it. You catch hints of it above it centers conversation on race and privilege, mainly the writers and questions i have that won't be answered but Sam did make me grow disdain for Malcolm over a short time. Which is sometimes hard to do because im one sympathetic person but the sympathy i have for Malcolm is at 0. Maybe a 2 at some scenes but then it quickly goes back to 0. Some parts of the dialogue miss the mark or hit the are off balanced. While some of it like Malcolm's bathroom speech albeit mean is really strong or their conversation when he comes back from peeing really shines for me.

Performances: B+ to A- because they carried the script further than it could of gone with less talented actors. The monologues do well to showcase their current skill levels which are already high af and leave room for anticipation in where these actors go next.

Zendaya holding a knife: A+ with a gold star. That switch on and off and on is delectable.

John being a shitty boyfriend but following Marie like a lost puppy: B+ with a good job written at the bottom of the paper, Malcolm being nervous a frantic dialed up with more realistic nervousness would have sold me completely on Malcolm's anxious waiting.

Cinematography: A and a participation award.

The mac and cheese: A+ for the easy mac. Wish it was like Annie's or Velveeta.

Cigarettes: Participation award and their picture hung up for student of the month. Why the grill lighter? Everytime Malcolm opened up his mouth Marie was like sparks fly.

The music: A++ with a prize. Whoever picked the music probably makes good Spotify playlists.

The night started out strong. You looked good, you felt good. A few drinks had already been consumed before arriving at the event, and so you were already in the party mood. Harry, your boyfriend of over a year, looked gorgeous as always. Everything was perfect.

Until him.

Harry noticed the guy’s infatuation with you long before you did. You were out on the dance floor, looking amazing, having the time of your life. A smile was on your face as you moved your body to the music. You looked genuinely happy, and the sight made Harry even happier. He watched you intently, his eyes focused on nothing else but you.

Something began to feel off, however, and he quickly noticed that his eyes weren’t the only pair that were locked on your body.

Across the room, another man watched you with the same intensity as Harry, sipping his drink sensually. Harry didn’t like it. Not. At. All.

He had always been incredibly possessive over you, but especially when you looked like this. It was rare that you got super dressed up like this, and you looked incredible. Your makeup was done flawlessly, and your hair looked stunning. You were breathtaking.

And that dress. God, that dress.

It was a little black number that you had gotten a while ago, and you had been waiting patiently for months to have a reason to wear it. When Harry had told you about the cast Christmas party, you had mainly been excited to pull this dress from the back of your closet, where it had been collecting dust since you purchased it.

Harry had a love-hate relationship with the dress.

He loved it because you looked so fucking good in it.

Of course he loved seeing you in it. He got to admire what was his, every curve on full display.

But, the issue was, that if he could see it, everyone else could, too.

Men had been ogling you all night, making his jaw clench and his hand form into fists, but none of them were like this guy.

The man was watching you with such intensity, Harry was surprised he hadn’t burned holes through your skin.

It took a lot of self control for Harry to keep from walking over and punching the absolute shit out of that guy.

When you eventually walked back over, Harry took the opportunity to show that man who you belonged to.

“Hey, lovie. Havin’ fun?” He asked as you approached him.

“Mhm, I-” Your words were cut off by your boyfriend grabbing your waist and pulling you in close, kissing you roughly.

You kissed back for a moment before pulling away, shock evident on your face.

“Woah.” You breathed. “What was that for? I mean I liked it, but…”

“Just showin’ you how that dancin’ you did made me feel.”

Your cheeks reddened immediately, and you dropped his gaze. Before you could look too far away forever, he was taking your chin into his hand, guiding your face to meet his.

“Don’ get all shy on me now, lovie. When you danced like tha’, wearin’ a dress like tha’, you lost the privilege.”

You giggled lightly, your cheeks growing even redder.

“Now, darlin’, I have to go talk to that guy,” He pointed across the room to a man in a fancy suit, “about shooting dates for next year. We can talk about this more when I come back, mm?”

All you could was nod. By your reaction to his words, he knew he had you wrapped around his finger. He gave you a wink that left you flustered as ever, and went on his way.

Now you stood alone, and didn’t exactly know what to do. You could go back out and dance until Harry was finished, but you felt as if your knees might collapse because of your previous encounter. Your only other option was to sit at the bar, and you were wanting another drink anyway. So, you found an empty seat and sat yourself in it, waiting for the bartender to come over to you.

Unbeknown to you, a man was headed your way, his eyes trained on the empty seat beside you.

Though you had no idea, Harry, across the room, was watching the guys’ every move. He had been keeping an eye on the man ever since he caught the guy watching you on the dance floor. As soon as he noticed the guy walking over to you, Harry’s jaw grew firm, and his fist clenched.

He willed himself to have self control, but also knew that if the guy laid a finger on you, he wouldn’t be able to keep his composure.

At the bar, the bartender had finally approached you, and you smiled politely as she greeted you.

“Hi, honey, what can I get for you?”

“An old-fashioned, please.”

“Alright, coming right up.”

You thanked the bartender as she turned around to begin making your drink. At this point, the stranger from the other side of the room had made his way over, and he slid into the seat beside you.

“Oh- hello.” You said, caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the man.

“Hey, how are you? I’m Jason.”

“Nice to meet you, I’m Y/N.”

The man nodded, a charming smile on his face. “Y/N.” He echoed. “That’s very pretty.”

“Thank you.” You politely replied. At this point, the bartender was walking up to you from behind the counter, your old-fashioned in her hand.

“One old-fashioned for you, honey. That’ll be 10.23.”

Jason, the man sitting beside you, reached quickly for his wallet. “Here, let me get that for you.”

“No, it’s okay.” You said immediately, knowing Harry wouldn’t like it if someone else bought you a drink. “I’m alright. Thank you though.”

“No, really, I-” Jason tried to insist, but you were already handing your card to the bartender.

Jason, who’s cheeks were now slightly pink, put his wallet back in his pocket.

“An old-fashioned, huh?” He said, very obviously as an attempt to make light conversation. “A classic. Not many people here like stuff like that, usually get the super fruity shit.”

Going along with it to be polite, you replied. “Yeah, I prefer simpler drinks. I don’t like anything too fancy.”

“I usually get a Manhattan, myself.” Jason says, motioning to the drink in his hand.

“I’ve never had one. They aren't terribly different from an old-fashioned, right?”

He shakes his head. “Yeah, they’re quite similar. If you finish that one, I’ll buy you a Manhattan so you can taste the difference for yourself.”

You shook your head. He clearly didn’t get the hint the first time. “That’s very sweet, but I’m alright. This will probably be my last drink for the night.”

“You sure? I’d really like to get one for you.”

“Yes, I’m sure. But thank you.”

Jason just nodded, not knowing what else to say.

From across the room, Harry was still having his conversation with the Assistant Director, but was barely focused on it. The only thing he could focus on was you and that guy, sitting and having a conversation at the bar. What was he saying to you? Why was he smiling like that? Why were YOU smiling? The whole thing frustrated him, and he couldn’t wait for this conversation to end so that he could go over there.

“So, what do you do on set? Are you in the cast?” You were still talking to Jason, not knowing what else to do as you waited for your boyfriend to return.

“I work in audio. Microphones, boom mics, and voiceover shit. I’m behind the scenes, so you probably haven’t seen me much. Are you in the cast?”

“Oh, no, I came with-”

“Me.” A familiar voice came over your shoulder, and you turned to find Harry behind you.

“Harry Styles, nice to meet you.” He was talking to Jason, but his hands slid around your waist. You could tell by the way that his brow was furrowed that he wasn’t too happy.

“Oh, shit. The Harry Styles? Nice to meet you, man.” It took Jason a second to realize that Harry was holding you, but once he did, it was obvious. His eyebrows raised, his eyes went wide. “Oh, Y/N, you came with him? Are the two of you dating?”

“Yes, we are.” Harry spoke for you. He turned his head in your direction so that he was speaking into your ear, but talked loud enough for Jason to hear. “I have someone I want you meet, love, so we should probably head over there.”

You nodded quickly. “Okay.” You stood up from your chair, giving Jason another polite smile. “Well, it was nice to meet you, Jason. Maybe I’ll see you around the set when I’m there visiting.”

Jason nodded and smiled. “Have a good night.”

You took your drink from the counter as Harry took your hand, dragging you away from the bar and toward the back corner of the room. It took you a second, but you eventually realized that he wasn’t leading you to meet anyone.

You were headed towards the bathrooms.

When you arrived at your destination, Harry pulled the door open as dragged you inside, closing and locking it after you were both in.

When he rounded on you, your cheeks went pink with nerves.

“You think that was funny, love? Flirtin’ with another guy at one of MY work events? You think that’s cute?”

All you could do was nod.

“Words, baby. I want an answer. Was flirtin’ with him funny to you?”

“Wasn’t flirting with him.” You squeaked out, the color in your cheeks even darker.

“You weren’t flirtin’ with him? Then why were you smilin’ like tha’?”

“I was just trying to be nice, Haz. You know, treat people with kindness?”

Harry’s eyes darkened immediately, and he grabbed your chin, yanking it upwards so that you’d meet his eyes.

“Don’ play tha’ game with me, lovie. Not tonight.”

His eyes flicked back and forth between yours, and you felt a warmth grow in your lower half.

“I saw the way he was lookin’ at you. He was watchin’ you all night. Was practically fuckin’ you with his eyes.” Harry's voice was menacing, and you were beginning to melt under his gaze. “I didn’t like tha’. Not. At. All.”

Harry took his free hand and wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you abruptly into him you yelped at the sudden movement.

“You are mine, Y/N. Just mine.”

You nodded, but Harry wanted more.

“Say it. Say that you’re mine.”

“I-I’m yours, Harry. I’m all yours.”

“That’s righ’.” He said, releasing you from his grip. “Now here’s what’s gonna happen. I’m goin’ to say goodbye to Olivia and Florence and a few other people, and then we are going home so I can really show you who you belong to, alrigh’? Finish your drink, return the glass, and then come find me. Don’ you dare talk to that guy, alrigh’?”

You nodded for what felt like the millionth time that night, and Harry reached around you to unlock the door and open it.

As you walked out of the bathroom, you looked towards the bar. Jason was no longer sitting there, and you could see him anywhere near there. You headed straight over there, wanting to follow Harry’s instructions exactly.

As you walked, you couldn’t help but be excited for what would happen when you got home.
