Anthony's Character & Personality

Angel is brash and sarcastic with a quick, sharp wit. He often uses these traits to side-step responsibility and deflect criticism or insults. Angel will switch between playful and destructive as he pleases. His humor tends to be crude and crass. Angel feels it's expected of him to make dirty jokes and innuendos, which he actively plays into. He's stylish and performs excessive confidence with his wildly flirtatious public persona. As such, Angel wants to receive positive attention for his looks and the profile he has made for himself. He also makes a show of looking down on others. Angel says the other denizens of Hell are mostly "ugly freaks". Thus, he often appears flippant and callous. In reality, Angel is preemptively defensive. He hides much of his true, more sensitive and insecure, self to protect himself as he doesn't expect those around him to show him kindness. While Angel does care about his friends and sometimes wants to reach out, he still keeps his walls up. This way, he's able to protect his true feelings and avoid overly emotional relationships. Unfortunately, Angel holds a cynical view on the idea of redemption, but he seems to hold onto some small hope it may be possible for him.

Steve having a sexuality crisis is all good angst and realistic writing, and Steve having known for a while and being confident and learned is great too, but I love Steve “just skipped the crisis part” Harrington.

Because really, who gives a shit if he’s gay when he’s fought monsters?

His best friend is a lesbian, and he loves her, so it’d be hypocritical not to accept this part of himself.

He’s had to protect his friends from mind demons with Kate Bush songs, this is not even a blip in the crazy shit he’s had to deal with.

One of his children friends has telekinetic powers and can go into your mind to figure out your location and save you from giant spider demons.

His pimp literally owns him and has the spider demon do everything from exotic dancing, to BDSM. Although Angel enjoys sex and drugs, he wants to do these things on his own time with whom he chooses. However, because he can't, the nature of his job is somewhat traumatizing to him as a result. When being confronted by his boss, Angel becomes scared and nervous around him due to the abuse he inflicts.
