↳ Every year you worked your uncle’s fair simply for the extra cash and free food. It was far from glamorous, but you’d long since decided the benefits outweigh the costs. That was until you were forced into tending to the massive, intimidating cows your uncle raised for show. Hopefully, the new ranch hand can ease some of your pain.
➤ cowboy!yeonjun x reader, fluff, a lil angsty (you shouldn’t be surprised), they have tension but in a good way, suggestive, mutual pining, stereotypical Country Boy shit
Word Count: 8,102
Warnings: none other than some swearing and some making out (a little tiny bit suggestive)
A/N: I had absolutely no plans to write another fic anytime soon but seeing Yeonjun’s teaser possessed me so here I am to deliver a cowboy!Yeonjun fic I never ever knew I needed. And yes the fair mentioned is based off of the one I go to every year in my college town and the one that happens in my own home town every summer too okay don’t judge me shhhh
•:•.•:•.•:•:•:•:•:•:•:•☾☼☽•:•.•:•.•:•:•:•:•:•:•:••:•.•
Sweat was beading on your forehead, streaming down the sides of your face in an almost constant torrent as you wiped a wet rag over every cleanable surface you could find. Every summer since you turned 16, you had helped your uncle set up and run his annual fair. It was far from perfect, but the job gave you some extra cash to spend and copious amounts of fair food to eat to your heart’s content. This year, you had managed to secure a spot working at the funnel cake stand- which had always been your favorite- and a promise from your uncle that you would get to go on all the fair rides for free.
It was a very busy day, as there was only one more day to go before the grounds opened to the public. All day you had been cleaning and helping people who rented barns to show their livestock find the way in. From where you stood now, you could see the line of barns and the people bustling back and forth from them. Arguably the busiest man you knew, your uncle, was hurrying over to you with a slightly panicked look on his face.
“Miranda went into labor,” he simply stated. If it were possible, he was even sweatier than you had become, with a thick layer of dirt on his hands and part of his face.
“Okay...” you began, unsure of where he was going as you turned your attention back to wiping down the funnel cake machine.
“So that means Steven can’t help me with the cows, an’ they’re here now and I can’t expect the new ranch hand to it all himself.”
Blankly, you stared at him, still totally unsure why he was bringing this problem to you.
“So that means I need you fill in for Steven for a few weeks. Working in the barn.” Your uncle prodded, gesturing behind him to the barn bustling with activity as the cows were being ushered into their hay covered stalls.
“No!” You groaned, dropping the wet rag with a plop. “No, I had to fight with my sister to get the funnel cake spot and now you’re gonna demote me to cows?” This had to be some kind of sick joke. Your uncle sighed, laying a heavy hand onto your shoulder and squeezing.
“Please, Y/N. Your funnel cake spot will stay open for you until Steven comes back, I promise. But for now, if you want paid, you have to go to the barn.”
----
By now, you were used to the scent of a barn. Your uncle had been showing cows for as long as you can remember, and as a child you often spent time following his older kids around the barn and caring for cows.
As you stepped in now, you found yourself cringing at the chaos. Although you had always worked the fair, you never came close to dealing with any of the livestock shows, especially involving your uncle’s own group of hulking animals. The barn was as nice as a barn could get, with layers of hay on the floor and pens lined with silver food and water buckets adorning each one. Handmade signs boasted the name and age of each animal so that visitors could learn about them. Most of the cows were already in their place, so you simply walked between the stalls, glancing at them absentmindedly.
“Are ya lost?” A smooth, low voice asked.
“Uh, no,” you began, a little bit annoyed at whatever probably middle aged man assumed you didn’t know what you were doing. Whoever had spoken to you was wearing sleek, all black cowboy boots with a pointed toe. They seemed to have been freshly polished; free of any scuffs or scratches although it was clear by a few wrinkles in the leather that the boots had been well worn. Intrigued by the idea that you didn’t know any of your uncle’s workers to wear all black boots, you quickly flitted your eyes to the man’s face.
Long, pinkish-blonde hair fell around his shoulders, cascading down his back in slight waves. The black cutter style hat with silver detailing covering the top of his head made it a little tough to put together the full picture, but you assumed from the few loose strands framing his face that he was sporting a mullet. Simple silver hoops hung from both of his earlobes, glistening in the low sunlight inside the barn. His eyes were a captivating amber-brown with a sparkle of gold that you could only catch on certain angles. His eyebrows were a bit darker than the blonde of his hair, cluing you in to the fact that he had most likely bleached the tresses some time before. From his taller vantage point, he looked down on you over the perfect slope of his nose. He was remarkably younger than you’d expected- probably only a year or two older than yourself. You swallowed harshly.
“Are you lost?” You quipped back, in disbelief at the vision of the man in front of you who had seemingly blended the usual, tired cowboy fashion you were so accompanied with alongside an alternative flair that made your heart hammer wildly in the confines of your chest.
The man snorted out a laugh, short and low as he leaned himself casually on a wooden support beam. Underneath the fabric of his black button up, his muscles flexed and glided deliciously as he settled his body weight again.
“No, I wouldn’t say I am. I work here, and although I just started around here,” he passed an unabashed look up and down your body that made you flush, “I wouldn’t forget meetin’ someone like you.”
At a loss for words, you simply gawked at him as you tried to reform yourself.
“I-uh, my uncle owns the fair, and the uh-the cows, and I got stuck working in here until Steven can get back. So I’m really just looking for-”
“Oh, you’re Y/N? Your uncle mentioned he’d be sending someone to replace Steven.” He interrupted, arching an eyebrow lazily when you nodded. There was a slight smirk befalling his lips, the perfectly plump flesh twisting in his clear scrutiny of your words.
Simply nodding your confirmation seemed to be good enough for him as he pushed his lean body off of the wooden beam and took two measured steps closer to you. The heels of his boots clicked loudly each time, only punctuating his current upper hand. He stuck his hand straight out in front of him, simply waiting for you to meet him halfway.
When you finally did, you hoped he would disregard your clammy palm that only compounded upon feeling his perfectly calloused skin tight against your much less worn hand.
“Yeonjun.” He simply said, pressing his fingers into you harder as you finally actually shook hands. The blunt press of his fingernails digging into the back of your hand sent shivers down your spine, mind jumping to what they would feel like raking down the sensitive skin of your back or down the inside of your thighs or between the strands of your hair or-
“You okay there?” Yeonjun questioned, dropping your hand to cross his arms over his toned chest. Caught red handed, you busied yourself with looking at the stray pieces of hay which had littered the barn’s floor before you answered with a meek yes.
‘Well,” you finally looked back up to see that his eyes were still trained intently on your face. There was absolutely no way he hadn’t seen your blush by now.
“I’m your uncle’s new ranch hand, so it’s gonna be me and you in here till Steven comes back.”
At his words, you suddenly realized just how calm the once bustling barn had become, and you were sure that everyone who had helped bring in the cows had moved on to other tasks. It seemed that you and Yeonjun were the only two people left in the barn. He was still standing dangerously close to you, bodies just about a foot apart until you took a tentative step backwards. Your heart was beating double the normal rate, distracted by the absolutely perfectly crafted man you somehow ended up in the sole presence of. He simply watched you back away, never dropping the sly smirk as he watched you panic. Damn Yeonjun and his perfect looks and perfect charm.
Maybe you should go to your uncle and tell him that there was no way you could work alongside Yeonjun. You could easily make up some kind of story that the two of you didn’t get along, and that he would need to find someone else to help out until Steven could be back and-
“Look out!” Yeonjun suddenly called, eyes widening in the split second you could still see them. In all your thinking, you had continued to slowly back away from him, so lost in your own mind that you didn’t realize you were seconds away from tripping over a stray bucket and hitting your head. Which is exactly what you did.
The floor of the barn, although partially cushioned by hay, was harsh against the back of your body. Your head bounced with a sickening echo, coupled with the skidding of the metal bucket in the opposite direction, it’s contents of some feed spread out messily through the hay, some kibbles sliding into the pens of eager cows who bent to gobble up their extra snack.
Yeonjun appeared over you as soon as you could open your eyes again, pain shooting through your head and top of your spine- where your body had bounced the most.
“Are you alright?” Yeonjun pulled you up gently, laying a large, warm hand on your back to keep you steady. His eyes were still wide, roaming your face in quick succession to see if you had any physical evidence of pain.
“Just- uh- gonna have a headache, probably.” You supplied, head still spinning. Yeonjun frowned, continuing to roam his hands over the back of you body. Although you knew he was simply looking for injuries, a shiver ran down your spine at his delicate yet assured touch.
“‘Don look like you’re hurt too bad, but I’m sure you’ll bruise,” his voice had become more gruff since he began his examination. “C’mon,” was the only warning he afforded you before hooking one arm under your armpits, easily pulling your weight off of the floor where you laid. The other arm came to hook under your knees until you were laid bridal style in his arms. Instinctively, both of your arms flew around his neck, almost sending his hat flying with your haste. Up this close, you could smell the intoxicating mix of the whatever musky-vanilla cologne he had sprayed on, undercut by the faint smell of the outdoors that was much earthier and full. You barely took notice of where he was hauling you off to, more than content to stare up at the smooth, sharp plains of his face.
Shortly, the two of you arrived at what seemed to have been his goal all along- his impressively well kept Chevy pickup. It was sleek black, shining in the high noon sun as if it had just been polished. The tires were sporting a bit of mud- but it was much cleaner than the pickup of any other man around your town. Carefully, Yeonjun led you out of his arms and on to the ground, but not before holding both of his hands on your hips until you steadied yourself.
“You didn’t have to do that,” you commented as he swung open the drivers side door, giving you a good thirty seconds to marvel at the way his jeans stretched deliciously over the curve of his ass and fullness of his thighs. He was searching for something, rummaging through the center consol of his vehicle in intense concentration as you waited.
“Here,” he finally left the car, spinning back around to you smoothly and extending a small bottle of Advil in one hand and a water bottle, warm from the sun, in the other. “Take some of these.” You nodded, downing the two small pills with a little swig of the too-warm water. It was an uncomfortable feeling but you tired your best to mask it knowing that the cowboy was still keeping a close eye on you.
“I meant it, earlier. That you didn’t have to do that. Or this.” You waved vaguely to your throat to indicate the pills you’d just taken from him.
“Is’okay. Used to helpin’. Now are you gonna come back to the barn with me or should I expect to tough out the rest of the day alone?” Happily, you noted that the teasing inclination of his voice had returned. You assessed the pain in your head, carefully weighing his question before you decided that yes, you would come back to the barn with him.
——
The next morning you arrived at the fairgrounds, still fatigued from all the work you’d done the day before. Your feet ached deeply, seeping into the muscles of your calves even as you stretched your legs in every way you could think of. The temperature of the day had already risen to an unforgivable heat which blanketed your every move and had your thin T-shirt sticking to your skin with perspiration. Every step you took reminded you that the air was still and hot and unforgiving. Not to mention the still occasionally throbbing pain in the back of your head from yesterday’s misfortune. As you neared the barn, catching a whiff of the distinct scent of cows exasperated by the heat, you wondered if you’d finally gone insane.
And then you spotted Yeonjun, intently speaking to one of the largest cows your uncle owned as he brushed her, ensuring that her coat was nice and shiny for the visitors that would begin funneling in once the evening fell. He was dressed almost the same as yesterday, except he had swapped the traditional black button up for a simple white T-shirt, most likely due to the sweltering temperature. It was tucked perfectly into the waist of his belted jeans, slightly stained with dirt as evidence of his work so far. Every movement he made to brush at the cow defined the lines of his biceps, drawing your attention steadily toward his veined hands which you noticed had rings adorning them today. The silver metal matched the gleam of his earrings, shimmering in the streams of light that the sun provided.
Quietly you stood at the entrance of the barn, marveling at his physique and the way his voice filtered through the air until it collided with your ears. You held back a laugh as he began cooing at the cow, complimenting her for being so good as the animal chewed at some hay nonchalantly. His hair seemed less messy today, like he’d taken the time to style it despite the nature of his work. You would have been more than happy to stand at the entrance of the barn and silently watch him work, but life can be cruel.
“You see, pretty lady...” you heard Yeonjun continue talking to the cow as he put down the brush. “I would love to spend all day with you, but unfortunately I gotta lot to do around here. And Y/N...well she’s spent the last 5 minutes staring at me instead of stepping up to brush any of your friends.” Shock and embarrassment washed your nerves, and you were sputtering in an instant.
“I wasn’t just staring- I was, I was waiting until you were done so that I could ask-“
“Didn’t say I minded.” Yeonjun supplied calmly, finally fixing his deadly auburn gaze onto you. Fuck, how did he always look so good? Unabashedly, he swiped his eyes over your body, and although you would normally feel scandalized, you wanted nothing more than for him to look at you. For a moment, the two of you stared at one another from across the barn, appraising each other as your mind ran wild. A feeling akin to electricity sparked under your skin, as if you’d be connected to a live wire as soon as he took a calculated step closer to you. The heels of his boots clicked against the wooden floor with every step, punctuating just how slowly he was making his advance. You felt a bit like prey being stalked as your larger, more skilled hunter circled in on you, but you were far from complaining.
About a foot away from your now trembling body, Yeonjun stopped. Your heart was hammering so hard against your ribs that you assumed it was trying to escape the confines of your chest and jump to the floor.
“Here, you’ll be needin’ this,” he drawled, lifting the brush which he’d been using on the other cow up toward you. Carefully, you grasped the tool, pretending your digits didn’t shake when he purposely brushed the delicate pads of his fingers against yours. When he finally dropped his hand away, you cradled the brush close to your sweaty form and gripped onto it for dear life. Without another word, you hurried away from him to tend to the nearest cow. You needed a breather, to be honest. Too much Yeonjun could put you at risk for a heart attack if you weren’t careful.
For a while, it seemed as if he had vanished completely. It was easily to get lost in the simple work of brushing the cows, especially along with the low warbling tones of whatever country station the radio inside the barn had been set to. You were never one for country music, even considering your upbringing, but between the work you were doing, the oppressive heat and the yearning crush weighing on you, it just seemed right to listen to the twang of Jason Aldean.
When he came back, he seemed to materialize out of thin air. You had just finished up brushing the last cow and had moved on to rewriting some of their name tags when he shortly announced that he was back.
“Oh, hey,” you spoke meekly in the hopes to mask your excitement at his return. Cheekily, he grinned, showing off pearly white teeth and perfectly pointed canines.
“Missed me that much, huh?” He chided, brushing past you easily as he took in your improved handwriting on the tags. “Damn. Didn’t even know her name was Daisy. Your uncles’ writing had me calling her Paisly this whole time.”
A low hum of a laugh lifted into your throat as you nodded, focusing on the delicate loop of a J in the next cow’s name. There was silence for a bit, the only sound being the scratch of the chalk you were using to write.
“How’s your head?” Yeonjun asked, hazarding another comment that made your surmize he was trying his best to start a casual conversation. A smirk played onto your lips. In all your 20 years of living, you’d never had the pleasure of having the cat and mouse game being reciprocated.
“It’s okay, just hurts a little bit. I do have a pretty nasty bruise too.” You weren’t lying. The fall had created a large, purple-brown bruise on your lower back that extended slightly to your left ass check, where you must have taken most of the impact of the fall. Yeonjun fell silent, and you were a bit disappointed that he couldn’t come up with a counter as you focused on writing the next cow’s name. The aforementioned bruise had given you a little bit of a limp, and maybe you exaggerated it now in the two steps it took to reach the next pen.
“Need someone to take a look at it?” His voice was suddenly right behind you, tickling the hairs on the back of your neck until they stood up straight. How he had snuck up behind you without the tell tale sounds of his boots was beyond you. Even though you were already sweating, you welcomed the radiating feel of his body heat coming off of his chest in waves. Trying your best to keep your letters from becoming shaky, you hummed in thought.
“Looks and feels pretty much like a nasty bruise to me, Yeonjun. Dunno if I need a second opinion when the damn thing makes it hard for me to even walk. But if you’re so inclined,” you turned your head to make eye contact with him, subsequently catching him in the act of staring down at your ass. He didn’t even bother to stutter out an apology or excuse- just simply looked back up at you with his steady gaze. You remarked that his lips looked plumper than normal, almost raw, like he had been biting at them during some point in the day. He didn’t bother to take a step back; simply maintaining his close distance and waiting for you to make the next move. He had placed the fate of this interaction in your hands, and now you were free to play with him a bit. Slowly, you lifted the hem of the back of your shirt just enough that you knew he could see the blooming bruise in most of its glory. He took a small step back now, to appraise the full scale of the bruise that spanned from left to right across your body.
“Why the hell did you come back today sportin’ an injury like that?” His voice was gruff, punctuated with the same concern that you had heard yesterday when you fell. The pads of his fingers skidded carefully across the afflicted skin, touch so light that you almost missed it. Suddenly insecure and a bit overwhelmed by his touch, you dropped the hem of your shirt and turned just enough that his hands fell away from your back.
“I didn’t want to leave you here all alone, and who knows how long it’ll take to heal? I promised my uncle I’d be here. Plus I kind of really need the paycheck, so...here I am.”
Eyebrows knitted, Yeonjun opened his mouth to make his next comment when the loud, familiar voice of your uncle busted through the relative silence of the barn. Yeonjun shuffled away from you quickly as if he had already been scolded. It hurt a bit, but you understood his hesitation in being caught in a possibly compromising situation with his employers niece.
Yeonjun called back to him, walking briskly toward the entrance of the barn and leaving you behind to strain your ears in an attempt to catch any important bits of information. You could have sworn you heard your name being passed between the two men, but there was no way you could be sure from so far away. A welcome breeze passed through the barn, bringing your attention back to the actual job at hand although you could still feel the ghost of Yeonjun’s touch.
----
About a week later, the temperature had plateaued to a pleasant level and brought along a fresh wave of visitors to the fairgrounds. All morning, the barn had been bustling with wide eyed children and experienced farmers who came to size up the competition. You were busy refreshing the hay inside of one of the pens when you heard Yeonjun’s smooth voice for the first time in a few hours. The barn had been so noisy and loud as soon as the grounds opened for the public that you hadn’t seen him since you arrived in the morning. Across the barn, he was entertaining a group of girls, all listening intently to whatever information he was spouting. They all had perfectly styled hair and legs to die for- stretching perfectly out of their cut-offs and practically begging for attention. The one closest to him was staring at his arms with no regard for how obvious she was being, and you were sure that every other girl in the half circle was ogling him in some fashion. You shouldn’t have been surprised, you guessed, since he made you feel just as brain dead, but you still boiled inside at the sight of two of the girls murmuring amongst each other. It was tough to tell exactly what he had said, but the raucous round of laughter that shot into the air clued you in to the fact that he had probably just served them one of his sub-par farming jokes.
He flashed them the same smile that had made your heart stutter countless times, and a sick feeling of anger pushed through your veins. With an unnecessarily hard push, you exited the pen you had just refreshed and moved on to the next. There was no doubt that Yeonjun took note of the unnecessarily loud clink of the metal gate, and you really fucking hope he got the message. Anger still bubbling just under your skin, you ignored the cow who sweetly bowed it’s head in search of affection.
“Hello?” Someone asked as soon as you turned your back. Taking what you hoped would be a soothing breath, you spun on your heel to address the visitor. He was probably in his mid to late twenties, with cute curly hair and the usual t-shirt and jeans combo you were used to seeing men around your town wear. The way he looked was just about exactly what you would expect from a man visiting your uncles fairgrounds, as they all dressed about the same. He wasn’t your type, but over his shoulder you could see that Yeonjun had refocused his attention on you after you apparent fit with the door. A sickly sweet smile pulled your cheeks until they hurt, but you laid it on thick as you walked over to the door of the pen.
“What can I do for ya?” Making sure to lay your voice on the extra sweet side, you took careful note of the way the man roamed his eyes over your face, stopping to flick between your lips and the low-riding cut of the shirt you’d worn today.
“I was just uh, looking around. Got some pretty nice cows here, they yours?” You forced a laugh, throwing your hair over your shoulder before shaking your head.
“Oh no, I just help out around here, ya know, cleaning and brushing the cows. They belong to my uncle. Like anything you see?” Deliberately, you tossed the bait and looked over his shoulder to find Yeonjun in the exact same spot as before, bottom lip locked between his teeth as he watched the interaction. Good. He deserves to have to watch this after you had to see him make those girls trip over their own feet just by existing.
The man chuckled, clearly picking up on the inclination of your question as he hummed in thought. “I think I have my eye on someone,” he responded, resting his arm casually on the metal gate just a few inches from where you had draped your own. Instinctively, you looked at his arm- much less defined than Yeonjun’s- and noticed just about the biggest red flag you could ever see on a man you’re flirting with. A wedding band.
“Ah, better be your wife you’ve got an eye on,” you quipped, mostly upset that your revenge on Yeonjun had been partially spoiled. There was no way you could stay here and flirt with a married man just to make Yeonjun jealous.  Defeated, you made to pull your arm off of the gate and go back to working on the hay when the man grabbed at the supple skin of your forearm to stop you.
“She won’t mind, sweetheart,” he drawled, the cool press of his ring a persistent reminder of how much of a scumbag he was being.
“No, somehow I really think she would mind.” You yanked your arm again, managing to gain just a few inches back from his hold. He huffed, pinching his blunt nails into your skin enough to scratch thin red lines.
“I’d let go if I were you. Move on along, huh?” Yeonjun’s familiar tone met your ears, and you belatedly noticed that he had come right up behind the guy. You had never seen him look quite so intimidating as he did in the moment, with his eyebrows pulled together grimly. His mouth was set in a harsh line, unforgiving as he gripped at the man’s shoulder, fingers curling into the fabric of his tshirt. Finally, the man dropped his grip from you, shot Yeonjun a nasty look that you were sure he thought was manly, and strode off to presumably find his poor wife.
Feeling small under Yeonjun’s gaze, you simply looked down at the faint red tracks now decorating your arm.
“He could have really hurt you.” He muttered, keeping his voice low as to keep other visitors from overhearing.
“He didn’t.” You spat, annoyed that he had to save you from yet another mishap.
“Guys like that...they don’t have any respect for people like you. People who have a backbone.” His eyes were large, imploring you with the intensity of his stare. You avoided his gaze for a few more seconds, knowing that your resolve and previous anger would disappear. You shuffled some hay under your sneakers and a piece of you hoped Yeonjun would simply walk away, but you could still see the toes of his boots poking underneath the metal gate.
“Thank you,” you whispered, finally meeting his gaze and feeling the tension melt from your bones. His features had softened considerably, and you almost forgot the pain that had split your heart upon seeing him flirting with other girls. You knew he wasn’t yours, but you wished more and more every day that he was.
----
“I won’t be needin’ you in the barn tonight, by the way,” your uncle bellowed from across the barn. In the whole time you’d been working alongside Yeonjun in here, you had never once seen your uncle actually come into the barn. You knew he was busy with dozens of other things, but for as much as he loved his cows you were shocked at his lack of attendance. Today he stood right in the middle of it, patting the head of one of the cows with a contented look on his face as visitors swirled around. Yeonjun, who was in the middle of refilling a trough of water, popped his head up in shock at the words.
“Really?” You enthused, dropping the rake you had in your hands to rush over to your uncle and see if he was joking.
“Really. Got an old friend comin’ in who I wanna show off the cows to, so I won’t need the two of you caring for ‘em. He’ll be here in about,” he paused to glance down at the watch he’d worn for as long as you could remember, “about twenty minutes, if the two of you want to take off now.”
Not having to be told twice, you waved your uncle goodbye, shot a quick smile at Yeonjun, and made a b-line to your car. Just as you pulled on the handle of the driver’s side door, Yeonjun was calling your name.
“Hey!” He called, a little breathless from the jog he’d taken to catch up with you. “What are you uh, gonna do with the night off?”
“Why, you wanna hang out?” You offered, half-teasing but very much offering your time to him.
“No- I wasn’t, that’s not what I was...”
“I’ll be here,” you responded coolly. “Might come with some friends, might just come to stuff my face full of fair food. All the things I normally do when I work somewhere that isn’t the barn. I’m finally gonna get myself a damn funnel cake. But first, I’m going home to shower.” You opened your driver’s side door all the way and hopped in before he could respond. “See ya there?” You asked, hoping to probe him toward offering to meet you there. He stuffed his hands in his front pockets, swaying on the balls of his feet. His face twisted as you assumed he was contemplating his options.
“Maybe,” he finally conceded, nodding softly as he watched you through the rolled down window of your car. “Maybe I’ll see ya there, Y/N.”
----
The sun had just begun to set when you got back to the familiar fair grounds, painting the sky in a orange-pink mix that delighted you beyond words. You had ended up coming to the fair alone; partly because all of your friends had already gone on other nights you were working and partly because you were hoping to run into Yeonjun. The parking lot was full to the brim, and you found yourself looping around to the slightly hidden employee parking lot instead of being sanctioned to the overflow lot down further down the dirt road. As you pulled into the closest spot, you caught a glimpse of a very familiar sleek black Chevy pickup in your rearview mirror. Excitement made you dizzy, hands shaking as you flipped down your overhead mirror to straighten yourself up. If you were going to see Yeonjun tonight, you were going to make it count.
Throngs of visitors swirled around you, chatting and laughing over the piped in country music that you’d been hearing almost nonstop all summer long. With the sun setting, everything was casted in an idyllic golden glow that made you feel like you were in a coming-of-age film and not just your uncle’s fair that you had come to every year since your birth. A group of visibly drunk friends barreled past you, slurring and hiccupping as they narrowly avoided spilling their beers all over themselves. Grease and sweat mixed to create an atmospheric scent that was so inherently fair that you almost wished they sold candles that smelled the same way. Without even thinking about it, your feet carried you toward the funnel cake stand which was supposed to be your fate for the summer. To be honest, you were still quite upset that you hadn’t got to spend your days munching on pieces of fried batter and chatting with the family friends your uncle hired every year.
Finding yourself at the back of a winding line, you resigned to the one thing that sucked about coming alone. There was no one around you to make conversation with as you waited for food. You had come to the fair many times with your friends from school and various dates, but you couldn’t think of a single time you visited the fair all by yourself. Idly, you scrolled through your phone and inched up appropriately with the line.
“Y/N! Hey!” Yeonjun yelled, approaching you quickly. A wide smile split your face, giving away your excitement at spotting him.
“Oh hey! I’m finally getting a funnel cake!” He was wearing his usual outfit, closer to the look you had seen him in the very first time you met. Outside of the barn he seemed much more casual, and even casted in an odd mix of setting sunrays and the harsh neon from the rides behind him, he looked ethereal. His eyes sparkled with that unmistakable mirth that he always seemed to harbor around you.
“I saw that. Looked pretty lonely over here with your nose in your phone, figured I’d come see if you could use some company.” He was throwing you the line, waiting to see if you’d latch on. And who would you be if you didn’t?
“Hmm, I think that would be nice. Although I really can’t promise I’ll share the funnel cake.” You stepped forward with the line again, and he came with you easily, falling right beside you so closely that you could feel the heat radiating from his side.
Once you finally had the hot treat balancing on a thin paper plate, you rushed Yeonjun to the nearest empty bench and dug in. The dough was still scalding, having just been pulled from the fryer, but the amazing taste was good enough for you to ignore the burn. Yeonjun sputtered a laugh as you shoveled in the dough, wiping powdered sugar onto your legs with reckless abandon. Teasingly, he snuck a hand up to the plate and pulled off a piece of funnel cake; pulling a teasing whine from your throat as you shook your head no rapidly.
“Too late,” he mumbled, “already in ma mouf.” Swallowing your own piece, you widened your eyes and punched at his thigh, firm and muscular.
“Rude! You should have gotten your own!” He smiled cutely down at you, nose crinkling as he finally swallowed. Some powdered sugar had slid onto his button up, but you decided not to tell him in favor of keeping his attention focused on you the way it was now. You felt hot but extremely comfortable under his gaze, feeling a stutter in your chest that increased the adrenaline in your veins. He was so close, and so endearing, and the way he was focused on your face was so fucking cute.
“You’ve got,” he motioned to his own face, brushing his finger against his chin. You tried to mirror his action, swiping at the same spot, but the frown on his face told you that you had missed.
“Lemme, can I?” You nodded before the words even came out, eager to feel his calloused hands on the sensitive skin of your face. His eyes narrowed in concentration as he cupped your jaw and inched his thumb, much slower than what would be considered normal, toward your chin. With one gentle swipe, the stray powdered sugar was gone, yet his hands remained. God, you wanted to kiss him so badly. The lighting had casted a gorgeous shade along his cheekbones, highlighting the beautiful length of his eye lashes and the rounded tip of his nose.
Up this close, you examined the curve of his lips; the soft definition of his cupid’s bow and the perfect pink of his mouth.
“Yeonjun-” he surged forward, stalling the words in your throat as he finally pushed his lips against yours. His fingers gently curled around your neck, gripping at strands of hair like he was afraid you were going to run away. It was quite the opposite, actually, as you happily hummed and leaned into the kiss you’d been waiting for. He tasted like funnel cakes and a faint hint of mint gum, just intoxicating enough to have you clawing your hands into the collar of his shirt. The funnel cake plate began to slide off of your lap, but you could not  have cared less as you swiped your tongue over the seam of his lips, greedily pushing to get more out of him.
He hesitates, still eager to kiss you back, but not enough to let you have full reign. Pouting a little, you decided to make the best of your time by nibbling at his bottom lip playfully. Yeonjun pulled away just enough to separate the two of you gently, chests heaving as you both readjusted to a life not attached at the lips.
“Sorry,” he grunted, voice much rougher around the edges than you’d ever heard it. The sound sent a chill down your spine. “Sorry that I didn’t, uh, wanna-” his cheeks flushed startlingly fast and he sighed. “I just don’t want to mess this up, whatever this is. I just...I like you too much, ya know?” The shyness in his voice was endearing, and it wasn’t hard at all to let your own desires fall to the wayside. He likes you.
“That’s okay, Yeonjun. You know I really like you too, right?”
“Hmm,” he pondered, leaning back into his usual persona at your acceptance. “Did I know that? Maybe all those times I caught you staring, or how fuckin’ clumsy you get if I even so much as compliment you...yeah. I think I know.” A permanent smile was stuck on your face, unbreakable in the presence of Yeonjun and his intoxicating aura.
----
The next morning, you’d walked into work on clouds. You and Yeonjun had spent the whole night together; strolling hand in hand, eating your way through the grounds and dragging one another on the carnival rides.
He wasn’t around when you entered the barn, but the evidence that he was somewhere around was enough to kick you into gear. You were shoveling food into a trough, making one-sided conversation with the cows in front of you when you heard him stroll in.
“Hey!” You called over your shoulder, too focused on getting the food actually inside the container to turn around. Yeonjun didn’t answer, but you just finished the task at hand and figured you’d try again in a few moments. Once you were done with the food, you spotted him walking back from the storehouse with a fresh bale of hay in his arms.
He plopped it down on the floor of the barn and you tried again.
“Good morning,” you smiled, approaching him with a grin. He looked up at your breifly and simply nodded, turning on his heels to go back to the storage. Your heart plummeted to your feet just like it had on the rollercoaster he had forced you on to just about 12 hours ago.
What the hell had happened in between the time you parted and the time you both came into work? If you hadn’t known him better, you would have chalked it up to a bad morning, or maybe he was still too tired.
But in all the time you had worked together, he had never once ignored you. He always greeted you in the morning, began a conversation about nothing or at least asked you how you slept. No matter how shit he was feeling, Yeonjun had always made it clear to you that you were worth his time. Did you ruin it all with the kiss? Even though he had seemed so ecstatic last night, maybe he woke up this morning with regrets stacked up. Maybe he was afraid of what your uncle would think. In your idle thinking, you hadn’t noticed the accumulation of hay bales that he had brought in. A stack of four now stood before you, and he was just feet away with the fifth. He was huffing, face reddened with the sheer weight of the bales.
“Yeonjun, do you need help?” You tried again, hoping that maybe lodging a question would garner a real response, but you got nothing. He simply dropped another bale and made to leave the barn again.
“Yeonjun!” You bellowed, hopping around the bales to catch up to him. You jumped in his path, holding one hand to each shoulder. Despite his strength advantage, he stopped in his tracks and gazed down at you. You noticed that he looked tired, slight bags residing under his eyes, and you wondered if we had gotten any sleep at all. “What’s up with you?”
He sighed, pushing his fingers into his temples.
“I don’t have time for this, Y/N.” He tried to pass around you again, but you planted your feet and pushed at his chest with all of your might.
“We are going to talk about this. The cows are fed, and the new hay can wait. Why the fuck are you avoiding me? After last night? If you don’t actually like me, or you regret it, just tell me the truth. Be a big boy, Yeonjun. Don’t leave me out here high and dry.” The steeliness in his eyes softened at your words and a frown marred his flawless face.
“No, god no. I do like you, Y/N. And yesterday was great and I don’t regret any of it but I just...I just don’t trust myself. The last person I dated,” he rubbed his hand into the back of his neck, “I messed it up. Bad. And the last thing I want is to do that to you, too. I’m trying to keep you away from all of this mess. So I’m sorry, but you have to just...forget last night.”
You were stunned to silence, disbelief bubbling in your chest. How bad of a fuck up could his last relationship have been? The Yeonjun you knew was nothing but caring, goofy, smart and charming. Everything you could have ever dreamed up in a man.
“Look, I don’t know what happened last time, but I know that you’re being way too hard on yourself. You’re...Yeonjun, you’re as close to perfect as anyone could get. And even if you are a mess,” you made sure that his tired eyes never left yours, “well, so am I. I fell flat on my ass the first time we met, I step in cow shit on the daily, and somehow you still find it in yourself to like me back. So whatever you’re worried about, forget about it. Okay?”
A small, slow smile cracked onto his face, exposing the white, pearly teeth that you were so envious of. “I never told you this,” he began, the cheerful inclination of his voice made your heart soar, “but I had to try so hard not to laugh when you fell. Like- the look on your face!” His voice tapered off into a full-bellied laugh; music to your ears.
“Okay, okay! I was trying to cheer you up, and now you’re just bullying me!” You yelled, pushing at his chest gently in a bid to get him to stop.
“Hmm, well you did help make me feel better, but ya know what would really cheer me up?” His laughter had ceased, but the apples of his cheeks were still risen and rosy from the effort. His hands encircled your waist delicately, pulling you into his chest. “If you could just...kiss it better?” He pouted exaggeratedly, leaning down to level your heights. And how could you resist?
You met him halfway with the same vigor as yesterday, still shocked by the easy way your mouths fit together. With every intention of respecting the boundary he set yesterday, you were more than happy to lean into the sweet roll of his lips until you were in need of a breather. The hands on your waist tightened, pulling your bodies impossibly closer and Yeonjun mumbled something that you didn’t quite catch, although you didn’t have time to ponder it as he took the imitative to deepen the kiss.
Finally kissing him the way you’d desired made you feel like you were on fire, every inch of your skin sensitive. Yeonjun was persistent, guiding you backwards slowly. You couldn’t see where you were going, but right now you would have trusted him with your entire life as he intoxicated you with his touch. Suddenly, your back was pressed against what you figured was the wood paneling just inside the barn’s entrance. Yeonjun finally backed away from you as your chest heaved, mind fuzzy from the rush of serotonin. Without a word he descended on you again, kissing sloppily down your jaw and neck, leaving at least two purpling bruises in his wake. Frantically, you knocked his hat backwards off of his head, weaving your fingers into his fading pink hair as he worked at the junction of your neck and collarbone. Losing yourself in his touch was easy, sliding your eyes shut as the flat of his tongue soothed the skin he had just finished raising into a blooming bruise.
Yeonjun was just as consumed, mumbling compliments against your neck as his hands wandered to the hem of your shirt, sliding his large, warm hands under the soft cotton; roaming higher and higher-
“MOOOOO-” the cow closest to you bellowed, sliding her foot across the floor in a loud shuffle that alarmed you both. Yeonjun’s hands dropped away immediately, eyes comically wide as the cow stared at the both of you.
“She defintely just told us to knock it off and change the hay.” You joked, trying to pretend like the loud animal hadn’t scared the living shit out of you. Yeonjun was flustered, fumbling to readjust his trusty hat as he cleared his throat and threw you a shy look. His eyes flitted to your neck, no doubt admiring his handiwork, before straightening his shirt.
“I’m going to go...um, start on that hay now.”

Shady boss lies about me to coworkers, I have her fired and in dept for several years after.
I have been lurking around here fore quite some time, and wishing I had a good story for you, until suddenly I realized I do! This happened back in 2011/12 when I was the ripe old age of 19 years old. This is a long one, so do strap in.
I got a part time job at a fast food place specializing in subs, not subway, but very similar, when I was 17. It was located in the towns mall, and was fairly busy. It’s a national chain where I’m from. When I started there the owner at the time was really nice, and she started that branch in my town. She was very strict on following all the cleaning requirements and took real pride in her shop. The way it was set up financially was that the franchise taker basically had to work from open to closing (9 am-7 pm) to even have a chance at making a decent living, and preferably only have one part timer helping for a few hours when it was at its busiest. It’s like the MLM of fast food. Why anyone would take on such a business wager is beyond me, but I digress. However, this owner actually managed to make money off it.
A year or so after I started, the owner decided she would move to a different part of the country and sell her branch and have someone else take over. That lucky individual was my co-worker who was three years older than me. (From now on Bosslady) She had worked there since it opened and was the natural choice to move up the ladder. Because she didn’t have the money to pay for the share in the franchise, about $5k, and nobody else was willing to pay that and have to work their ass off for minimal revenue, HQ allowed her to take over while they bought the old owner out, and HQ kept the share.
Now, Bosslady had no idea how to run a mile, much less a business, and small things started happening quite soon after she took over. I would normally work there after school, by myself, but she would often hang around the mall when she had finished work. Bosslady always complained about how little money she made, and would often come by when me or the other part timers were working and tell us to give her $20-100 right out of the register. Considering total daily sales never reached more than about $1200, that was a lot. I barely made $12/h, so my motivation was too low to care, and neither did the rest of the part timers, so we complied and gave her the money. My spider sense was tingling a bit, telling me it was fishy to grab money right out of the register, even if she was the owner, but if she wanted to dig her own grave that was fine by me.
I was friends with Bosslady and we would hang out and often hung out on the weekends, and we worked saturdays together. Which ment we would go out on Friday nights, get shit faced and work the next day hung over. Oh to be young. I would only go out during the weekends and never missed a day of work no matter how hung over I was, and saturdays were the only days I would be hung over. Besides school and work, I was in a dance company, and had dance classes everyday, mostly after 7pm, but a few days I had them earlier and couldn’t work no matter what. This is important.
Every night we would count the register, leave $100 dollars in change and small bills for the next day, and deposit the rest in a safe at the mall. I’m not entirely sure, because it’s been a long time, but I do believe Bosslady would tell us to take the difference out of the $100 for the register, somehow believing the money would magically show up the next day. After a while we started having problems with the distributers, we were not allowed to order on credit, and had to go to the bank to pay the bills in person etc. After that things started getting really weird, and Bosslady refused to let us make the cash deposits at night, insisting that we put the money bags in one of the cabinets inside the shop, which after a month or two culminated to a lot of cash. We had also had trouble a few months with getting paid on time. Since I worked the most out of all the part timers, I had the biggest salary, and the people who administered pay decided to pay the smaller checks first. This girl had bills to pay so that did not sit well with me. I was also the hardest worker out of all of us, Bosslady included.
Then one lovely Tuesday while I was at school, one of the other part timers asked me to cover her shift, to which I said I wasn’t able to because not only did I have back-to-back dance classes I also had a paper to write for school. Later that night I get a text from the girl saying “if you were hung over you could have just said so, you don’t have to lie..” and I’m like “excuse me? I don’t drink on school nights, and there’s no way I would have had the time to do so last night with dance class right after work and working on my paper” to which she just answered “yeah sure, Bosslady told me you were out last night”. The funny part is, this was a fairly small town, so there where nowhere to go on weeknights, so even if I wanted to break my own rules and party on a school night, I couldn’t. This really pissed me off, and figured I would stop playing nice and saving Bosslady’s ass.
Que the revenge: One day out of the blue, during summer, Bosslady declared she was going to go on a last minute, two week vacation to the states, and told me to take care of the shop while she was gone. I said fine, but would like more notice next time. I also asked her how she paid for it, considering she wasn’t able to take out any salary from the shop, and she just said “oh, I had some savings”. I just thought “Hmm, that’s weird considering you actually don’t make money”, but didn’t say anything.
The first day I was in charge HQ called, and the conversation went like this:
HQguy: “hey, is Bosslady around?”
Me: “No, she took a last minute vacation to the states and put me in charge, didn’t she tell you?”
HQguy: “No, she did not indulge that information. But maybe you can help me. Do you know what happened to all the cash deposits from the past few months?”
Me: “Yeah, they’re in one of the cabinets here. Bosslady told us not to deposit them, she even yelled at me when I was about to, because I felt really uncomfortable knowing we had what must have been more than $15k lying around in the shop, and gave me an excuse about having to look them over”
HQguy: “Are you serious?!”
Me: “Sure am. What should I do?”
HQguy: “I know the previous owner is in town, maybe you can call her and ask if she can come help you? She knows what’s what, and please deposit all the cash today!”
Me: “Sure, no problem. I will look over all the cash bags to see how much there actually is and make sure they’re all there and deposit them ASAP” and we hung up.
I called the old owner and told her what was up, and she sounded really surprised and was there within ten minutes. Together we quickly looked over all the cash, but didn’t count it. They where in these little pouches that had a form on the front where you filled in how many of each bill and coin was in it, so we figured the right amount would be in each bag. They weren’t sealed, because Bosslady had told us not to seal them before putting them in the cabinet. I then put them all in a bag and discretely made my way over to the safe where we deposited them. It was on the other side of the mall, and the mall was open so my heart was racing. I felt like everyone knew I was carrying a shitload of cash.
The old owner started asking me if we kept up with the cleaning requirements, and I answered truthfully that Bosslady never told us to do any of the time consuming stuff, like the ice-cube machine, saying that we would have to do that after closing and she didn’t have the money to pay us for the extra hours, so she said would do it on the weekends herself. Old owner just shrugged and told me she had to leave. Since I was all alone in the shop and it was fairly quiet, I started looking around for things to clean. This was around 4 pm. I quickly realized that she had never cleaned anything like she said she had. Under the fridges and workbenches there where LAYERS of dirt, the water tank in the ice cube machine was GREEN with algae, the cooling fans in the refrigerators where covered in mold. I started cleaning, but quickly realized this would require my full attention, so I closed the shop early. I called the old owner and she supported my decision and called the mall manager for me to let them know what was up.
I have never cleaned that much in my life. I scrubbed everything. I pulled all the refrigerators out and scrubbed thoroughly behind everything. What took the longest was the ice cube machine. I wasn’t done until 11 pm that night. Being the petty bitch I am, and being pissed Bosslady went on vacation with the shop in the state it was, I took pictures of everything before I started cleaning and sent them all to the food safety agency, telling them that nothing had been cleaned for over a year. I also got to clock all the hours I spent cleaning, getting an ok from HQguy. Looking back now and seeing how little I was paid, I would have just not cared, but at the time I was afraid people would get sick and die from eating the food.
The next day I called the old owner and all the part timers asking them to meet at my place saying we needed a staff meeting without Bosslady and now was the chance. They all came and we started talking, telling me what Bosslady had done when they were working together and other things they had observed her doing. I took notes, and later that night I wrote a seven(!!) page document listing all the things we knew she did wrong, and how we suspected she was stealing money from the shop etc., and I emailed it directly to HQguy. He emailed me back saying he would look into it.
HQguy called me a few days later thanking me for notifying him about all the things she was doing, and told me that when the cash was registered the amount listed on the form and the amount in the pouches wasn’t the same, and asked me if I knew where it had gone. A light went off, and I realized the “savings” Bosslady had used to pay for her trip was actually money she had taken from the pouches, and that’s why she wouldn’t let us seal them. I told him as much and he said he would dig a little.
When Bosslady came back from vacation, she seemed very stressed. I acted like nothing had happened when she was gone, but chuckled when she opened the cash cabinet and saw that all the money was gone, and her face turned so white she was almost see through, but she said nothing. She was in the back most of the day on her phone and came out asking me if I could cover for her the next few days as she had to go to HQ for a last minute meeting (HQ was 8 hours away). I agreed and went home.
Over the next few days I was seething with excitement to find out what happened. When she came back she tried to play it cool and said “I’ve decided to quit. I feel like doing something different, so I’m just working until the end of the month, and then I’m leaving”, and I just acted sorry and oblivious. I knew the old owner was kept in the loop by HQ, and she told me what really happened.
Bosslady had met with HQ who had questioned her about the missing money and lack of cleaning etc. (there was more, but this is already longer than the Bible). She had denied it all at first, trying to pin it on of us, and saying she had suspected someone was stealing the money and that’s why she didn’t deposit it etc, but eventually broke down and admitted it all. She was then given the option of quitting and paying them back all the missing money in installments or having charges pressed against her. She obviously chose the former. Personally I would have pressed charges no matter what, but they wanted to help her out because I guess they understood she was in a bit of a tough situation with not making any money on the shop, and also didn’t want it blow up in the media.
I kept working there for a few more months, but quit because i found a job that paid more. Word spread about what Bosslady had done, so she really struggled to find a new job to pay what she owed, since no one trusted her. She eventually did, but had to pay them back for several years later. We did not keep in touch.
Guess she shouldn’t have lied about me to my coworkers.
And I’m all out of breath
TL;DR: shady boss lies to my coworkers about me being too hungover to cover their shifts, I tell HQ about all the shady stuff she’s doing and she loses her job and has to pay them back the money she stole for several years, and lost her good reputation.

my first ever year in uni is done! to commemorate, I’ve wanted to share how I experienced college and how I coped through it, with the stress and all. although with the current times, some of these may not be relevant as of the moment since most have transitioned to online classes, though when the time comes and we can all do onsite classes once again, I hope this would help you guys in some way! 😊 this is typewritten in laps lock btw sorry hihi
(note that I said ‘kinda’ since these are all just personal opinions and obviously, we all have different experiences hehe but nonetheless I hope this is helpful ily all <3 also, I put related links in some parts so that you guys can check it out if you want!)
Tumblr media
what to expect in uni?
adjustment period. this is inevitable. the length varies to each person, however. some may instantly click within just a day, but others it may take weeks. hey, it's okay. don't beat yourself up for it. it takes time! you'll learn to be comfortable with your surroundings in time.
adapting to new surroundings. like I said, this varies. but personally, it would be great it if you become familiar with places around your uni and all the hidden treasures it has for you within your first few weeks. this will make it easier for you to find a place you can call your own nook, where you can feel comfortable staying while studying, like a hole-in-the-wall cafe or study hub. this helps give you a sense of constancy, having a place that you can always go to.
feeling like an outsider. it happens. being a freshman obviously means that you don't know anything that happens within the campus. the traditions are all new to you and don't be embarrassed if you're not aware of it beforehand. heck, most of them doing it probably don't even know them when they were freshmen either. soon, you'll come to learn about it, and it may even become part of your traditions as well!
how to make friends?
try to at least to make one friend or two during the start, especially when you are given tours or any freshmen activity the uni has prepared, so you won't be alone and risk getting lost by yourself!
if you have a block, this goes the same as well! a simple smile and some small talk can do wonders. then again, it is completely understandable if you can't make the first move. don't fret over it! there will be a lot of friendly and nice people who can do so, and you can start from there :)
but remember also, this people you get to know may or may not be the ones you'll be spending your whole college life with. sometimes by the end of the year, you're not even seeing the first people you hung out with, and that's completely okay! but also remember to have at least someone with you, a support system if you may call it. I swear it will make your life in college 100x more bearable, especially if you're far away from your friends back at home.
Tumblr media
(quick disclaimer: I commute my way to uni, so I don't have a dorm, but I have tons of friends who do! so here's what I learned through them, especially during the times I had to stay the night at their place for a requirement or a night out drinking hehe)
having a designated container for everything
this makes everything easier to navigate to, especially if you're running late since you already know what you need to get and where to get it. if you have roommates, this makes it easier for you to know whose is who and avoid mixing all of your things together.
you can buy some cute little boxes for your containers to add some decorations, but if you decide to go with some old brown food pack boxes, as long as you know where you're putting them, go ahead.
how you decide to organize them in the container, however, is completely up to you. to recommend, I would like to follow the ever so famous KonMari method (here’s a good article to understand all about it, with videos!) as this has really made it easier for me personally in my own room, as I have my own containers as well.
stay clean - please do.
for starters, I think it's completely necessary to at least clean your room, like a general cleaning, once a month.
sweeping the floor? at least twice a week.
taking the trash out? at least every other day.
cleaning/organizing your desk? every time before you go to bed or before class.
this will help not just in making everything more sanitized, but it’s also a good way to practice self-discipline. cleaning is also known to be very therapeutic! (great article links here: x, x) like they say, a clear desk, clear mind. keeping your space clean is the least you can do for yourself.
roommates
it is both a hit or miss if you're roommates with a friend. believe me. this can either strengthen your relationship, or not.
the important thing here is that you both respect each other's privacy, and each other's space. all the better if both of you are on the same page when it comes to how to clean your place, but if not,   the best thing is that you make it clear between the both of you to not interfere with one another when it comes to your sides of the room. i've had friends whose dorm looks like two different places at once, but they made it work!
Tumblr media
essentials
my previous post regarding my bag essentials (here) is still the same as ever even in uni, with just a few additions! you can click the link if you want to see the whole length of it, but if you can’t, here’s a summary of what I think is the most needed things in your bag:
water bottle (drink your h2o pls)
sanitary kit + medicine kit
power bank (with a cord ofc)*
extra change
earphones
alcohol/hand sanitizer (!!!)
mask*
umbrella* (side note: the weather whenever I’m in uni seems to be so random I swear, it’s all sunny then after not even an hour passes, it’s so cloudy and looks like it could rain anytime! So yes, umbrella is needed.)
*these are new additions from the previous post I did! make sure those items that have cords have cord holders, too! So it’s more organized 😉
how to organize them
there isn’t really an exact way to organize it, but again, the best thing for me is to make sure that it is accessible for you to get what you need quickly. I personally use small containers to keep those with the same purpose together (like the kits and a pouch for my power bank and earphones)
if your bag has pockets on the side, put your water bottle there and your umbrella to save some space inside!
to avoid any possible theft, put your most valuable items at the bottom of your bag (like for example, your wallet, if you don’t need it and you have some loose change with you, put it at the bottom)
keeping it clean
my only advice for this is that you should clean and organize your bag pretty frequently. like your room, cleaning your bag can also be therapeutic (refer to previous links!). taking the trash out like scrap paper and other junk can be actually be cathartic for you and help release some stress.
Tumblr media
importance of tracking expenses
here’s the thing: money can be pretty scary. even though I still live at  home with my parents, balancing my allowance for the week is pretty stressing! what more for those far away from their homes? you really need to be aware of what you’re buying and how much money you’re spending each day so that you can track and find the best way to utilize your allowance.
it's so tempting to spend a lot, especially when you’re with friends. It would be better if you and your friends also keep it in mind on checking your expenses! me and my friends, to save, would just usually go to the same place most days of the week that has a menu that is within our budget. this is so that when we have plans on going out by the end of the week or after a hellish one, we have some money to spare and splurge on!
It’s a good thing to note, especially in countries where student loans are commonly used, that tracking expenses and saving money can be extremely helpful in the long run. (I live in the PH so I am entirely familiar with student loans in the US and other countries so here’s an article that I think could help regarding saving money as a college student: link here)
why you need to save
learning how to save money is pretty beneficial for you and your discipline with handling money. this will definitely let you realize the value of it.
having extra money is extremely important because there will always be times when you suddenly need to spend, whether it be for a requirement or an emergency, and you need to prepared for those situations.
personally, saving money makes me feel independent and that I can manage on my own even if I still live with my parents. for those that are far away from their homes, this can be the same for them, too.
some tips in saving money
budgeting your money. my way of budgeting my money is that I would always take off 10-15% of my allowance first and immediately put that part of my savings for the week. after, I would equally divide the remaining money to each day I have classes for my lunch and commute (I only have classes 4 days a week with a uniform schedule, so I work around that). there would be times that I overspend due to needed contributions for requirements, so I make sure to always check how much there is of my savings and if ever, I would lower the 10-15% savings for that week to about 5%.
If you don’t need it immediately, don’t buy it. my rule for this is if I take more than 5 minutes to think about if I need or not, then it just means that I don’t need it immediately, so I let it go. If you really need that particular item, you wouldn’t spend so much time wondering if you really need to. so, bye and see you when I need you!
group meals all day, every day! sharing meal combos with your friends are definitely one of the best ways to save since you all are saving some extra cash. make sure to plan accordingly with your friends so that you get the best deal, and eat some good food without hearing a cry from your wallet.
student discounts are lifesavers. no matter how small or big the percentage off is, it will sure be a blessing so use it whenever you can! (the psychology students of my college have a organization called PsychSoc and all of us psych students are given these ‘psych cards’ that you can use with a 10% discount to all the stores given in the card, and yes you can say that I am using my card a lot haha)
there are a lot more that I would share that I think is extremely helpful especially to my fellow Filipinos, but I’m planning to make a separate post for that!
Tumblr media
importance of managing your time with studies and orgs
admittedly, healthy study habits are hard to keep up with. this is especially challenging if you’re in an org or a club that’s pretty active and you have to split your time with it and your studies. keeping a routine can with help that! it is extremely important that you have a guide to follow so that you won’t feel like you’re swarmed with all of the pending tasks to do, whether it’s for your org or your class.
starting a routine. beginning something is always awkward, and sometimes you don’t know where to start so here’s some simple things I can suggest:
cutting back on your time on social media and streaming websites and adding more to your study time. that series you want to binge-watch? it can wait. set a time in your week where you can watch it and try to pace yourself. that goes for whatever is happening on twitter, facebook, or any social media.
trying the pomodoro technique! old, but gold. here’s a great post regarding it: (x)
doing your papers or other tasks immediately. better start now, than regret not doing so later. finishing a task immediately means you’re already done with one thing on your list, and this will help prevent you from piling up things on your to do list and cram at the last minute!
schedule non-academic or non-org related group hangouts after major activities and not before. you’re friends need to be on the same page with you with this, and it’s better that you are all agreeing with setting a night out on a date that is academic free, so you won’t have to worry about passing or attending something the next day.
understand that sometimes it’s okay to prioritize one over the other. if you have a major exam upcoming, talk to your org officers and tell them the you won’t be attending that much, they will understand! and also, tell yourself that it’s okay to shorten your study time for an important org event. you don’t have to always split your time equally, you just to need to split it based on what is more important for you at the moment.
 And lastly,
why you shouldn't forget to have fun
come on, you’re in college! have fun, meet new people, go out and drink (responsibly) and just feel like a college student. You don’t always have to be studying, you should make time for yourself to take a break and just relax and interact with your friends.
this will make things more bearable. college is an experience and you should experience it to the fullest. make your time count! doing this makes it easier to cope with your college life in the long run.
having fun is okay. don’t forget that! with all the stress coming through, especially during finals week, adding some fun makes it worth it. doing group studies with your friends, with you guys actually studying, is bound to bring some unexpected funny moments you’ll never forget. taking a breather from studying and playing some games can also be beneficial for you to relieve some stress. and like I said, maybe cleaning can help, too! just make sure that you’re not relaxing or studying too much, as too much can be harmful. always remember to try to balance things out, and that you got this! go and kick college’s butt!

KICKS (part one)
Tumblr media
Roger visits the seediest shop in London in search of a kinky Valentine’s day gift for his girlfriend. He thinks he’s a great lay and he thinks he’s seen it all. He’s also dating one of the sexiest women in the country. It should be a recipe for sexual heaven for Roger, but he soon realises he has a lot to learn, and he keeps coming back to Kicks for more than just the odd ball gag or leather collar!
Warnings: Strong D/s themes later on. STRICTLY 18+. Notes: I said I’d post this in one go, but I lied. I’m gonna post it in parts because I love it. As always, feedback is much appreciated. If you like this, then please, for the love of all that is holy, reblog it (I am begging)! And if you’d like to be tagged, please just send me a message. Thanks for reading!

Valentine’s day was always hectic at Kicks, despite the locals being loathed to admit that they satisfied their fiendish fancies there – even for a few days of the year.
And for you, it meant working overtime to guarantee that the merchandise looked as tantalising as ever. It gave you the chance to let your creativity run wild, but you couldn’t go overboard with latex-clad, strap-on wearing mannequins in the front window. After all, the locals were still prudes.
While you were busy in the stockroom, filling a box of dildos for distribution, the bell above the front door chimed. It was a Wednesday evening. Things were winding down for the day. And you had assumed you’d be undisturbed until closing time.
Evidently not.
Your eyes rolled. “I’ll be through in a minute!”
“No need, take your time!”
When the cardboard box at your feet was brimming with rubber dongs and silicone schlongs, you hauled it up into your arms. But, you instantly bemoaned the decision to pile it so high that your arms buckled and you could barely peer over the top of your haul as you made your way back on to the shop floor. All you could see was a tuft of blonde hair lingering around the section of the store that housed every restraint under the sun.
“Are you alright?” the customer asked, scurrying into view.
You dumped the box on the cash desk and huffed, planting your hands on your hips. “Yep, yep, just fine. Just overextended myself.”
You turned to the customer to see a childish smirk peeking from the corners of his mouth. He was dying to laugh at the absurdity of the situation. After all, he had partied with strippers, witnessed wild drug-fuelled orgies and all kinds of debauchery. But here he was, like a naughty teenager in a sweetshop. Roger had never, ever, been in one of these kinds of shops before.
“Can I help you, handsome?” you pressed.
Roger snapped back to reality with a look of faux seriousness. His hand crept beneath the collar of his half-buttoned shirt to press against the curve between his neck and his shoulder. “Oh, yes. Yes. I’m… I’m looking for something to maybe tie my girlfriend up or something. For Valentine’s day, you know? Show her a good time.”
You found his meek facade quite endearing. Most customers had that look about them, but somehow, you expected more from the gregarious drummer of a rock and roll band. “Well,” you began, flinging out your arms. “You’ve come to the right place.”
Roger responded by diverting his gaze to his feet with an eye-crinkling smile.
You emerged from behind the cash desk and gave Roger’s arm a light slap. “Come on over and I’ll show you some of my wares.”
He trailed behind you like a shy little puppy, fumbling his hands in front of his body. “We haven’t really tried this before so I don’t know…”
“That’s ok,” you said, eyeing the wall of restraints for something to show him. You knew full well that Betsy Bright, darling of the Pirelli Calendar, coupled with Queen’s most desirable member, were destined for dirty escapades in the bedroom – even if they hadn’t got around to it yet. And they had to start somewhere.
“W-what about these? These look nice,” Roger mumbled. He held up a set of heavy-duty leather ankle and wrist cuffs for you to inspect.
“How does your girlfriend feel about all of this?” you asked.
“I don’t really know. Honestly, this was just a whim. I’ve already got her some nice knickers. Fred’s been in a couple of times. Joked that I might find something in here.”
That was a typical man response that you’d probably hear a thousand times throughout the Valentine’s frenzy and the annoyance you felt was palpable. Roger edged the cuffs back on to the display.
“Yeah, those might freak her out,” you remarked. “That’s like gifting a virgin a 14-inch dildo and no lube, and telling them to take it in ten minutes.”
“Noted.”
“Why don’t you start…” you said, trailing your hand over the display until you found what you were looking for. “With these?” You held up a set of satin straps for Roger to gaze at. “Much less intimidating. Really versatile. And they come in all kinds of colours.”
Roger took them and allowed the material to fall through his fingertips. “These are nice,” he said, dipping into the bag of department store goodies that hung from his wrist. When he lifted his hand, a whisper-thin, bottle green g-string dangled from his index finger. “Got any to match this?”
“Betsy Bright’s gonna look fantastic in those,” you said, handing him another set of straps.
He couldn’t meet your gaze and the flush of pink that spread from his chest to his jaw gave away even more of his embarrassment. “I hope so,” he said quietly.
“I can throw in a blindfold and a nice little scarf gag for an extra tenner if you want?”
Roger’s eyes were elsewhere; they darted around his surroundings with a coy curiosity. “That sounds great.”
“Do you want me to ring these up for you?”
“Yeah,” he sighed, trailing behind you.
You could feel Roger’s eyes on you as you rang his kinky starter pack through the till and bagged them up for him. Every time you moved, his eyes moved with you. But when you looked up, he quickly looked away, towards the box of dildos beside you. “That’s twenty quid please,” you said, handing him his bag.
He gave you the money from his shaking hand and returned his eyes to the box. Intrigue got the better of him and made him pick up the biggest toy in there. He marvelled at it, turning it in his hand.
“Think you could manage it?” you smirked.
His face reddened again. “Oh, I’m… I’m just… could anyone?”
You nodded slowly with your eyes bulging from your head and a scowl on your lips.
“I’d hate to be the poor woman whose undercarriage gets wrecked by that,” he mused. “How could anyone… Look! I can’t even get my hand around it.”
“Patience and a lot of lube.”
Roger’s mouth hung open as he looked at you again. “Have you? How did you… what?”
You giggled. “No! God no. But it’s possible. I think you’re curious, now though, aren’t you? I reckon you could take that if you really stretched yourself.”
The dildo was dumped back in the box in protest. “No,” he whispered, furiously shaking his head.
“I think you’re more interested than you’re letting on, but that’s alright. I won’t tell.”
“I’ll stick to sticking my dick in things. Rather than having things stuck in me. If that’s alright.”
You threw your hands in the air. “Whatever tickles your pickle!”
“I’m a great lay by the way. I’m just throwing that out there.”
A sarcastic chuckle escaped your lips. “Bet you’ve never found the g-spot.”
Roger leaned on the cash desk, screwing up his beautiful features, eager for you to impart your wisdom. “Sorry, what?”
One week later…
Rounding the corner, the morning sun sparked a blazing path before you. Beautiful, boring shopfronts blurred past you as your speedometer approached 60. Double the speed limit, but opening time was drawing closer by the second.
Never in your time at Kicks had you been late. And you weren’t going to let that happen today.
Turning the throttle, the needle spiked at 70, and then steadily eased as the shop came into view.
When your bike came to a stop opposite the shop, you hesitated for a moment, thanking your lucky stars you decided to don a visor that day. A customer paced back and forth, but you couldn’t see their face from that far away. It was rare to find customers pounding the pavement, waiting for the doors to open. Rarer still when that customer turned out to be Roger Taylor – again.
Whipping off your helmet and crossing the street, you caught Roger’s eye. Stopped in his tracks, he struggled to fight back a broad grin. And the way his eyes strayed.
You didn’t look at him when you slipped your key into the lock. “Well, if it isn’t my favourite customer! How’d Miss Pirelli get on? She like getting tied up?” You pushed the door open and switched on the lights. Roger followed.
“I’m not sure,” he said, scratching at the undersides of his arms as he wandered into the middle of the shop – and tried not to touch anything.
Weaving in and out of the group of catsuit-clad mannequins in the front window, you stopped and narrowed your eyes at Roger. “What do you mean: you’re not sure?” you asked, pulling up the blinds. “Don’t you talk?”
“Sure, as soon as I’ve spaffed my load down her tits and we’re lying there all sweaty and exhausted, I just... just turn to her and ask,” he paused, lowering his voice and pressing his hand to the side of his mouth, “darling did you like those silk ties and how was the little feather duster I tickled your fanny with? Sure!”
You shook your head and wandered over to Roger. “So you don’t do a thorough post-match analysis? How on earth do you communicate? Jesus Christ, Roger!”
“I think she liked it! Ok?”
“So you’re back for that monster cock you saw last week?” you asked with fake glee.
Roger crossed his arms and jutted out his hip. “No, actually.” As quickly as his face clouded over with indignation, it dropped even more into a serious gaze. “I was hoping you could give me some advice.”
You seemed to understand that this was unusual for Roger and that he wasn’t exactly used to opening up like this. “Coffee?”
He perked up ever so slightly, his arms dropping down by his sides. “Coffee.”
Roger followed you on your way into the back room, but he lingered just at the door and watched you make the coffee.
“I’ve got some chocolate digestives if you want some. You know, in case you need to eat your feelings,” you joked.
“Wouldn’t say no,” he laughed. “I don’t think I’m quite at that point just yet.”
“Right,” you began, thrusting Roger’s coffee into his hand on your road back to the shop floor. “Tell me all of your woes, drummer boy.”
You and Roger hauled yourselves on to stools on opposite sides of the cash desk. He looked down, staring into the cup in his hands. And then he looked up. “Actually I think I will have a biccy, please.”
Without a word, you plucked a single chocolate digestive from the packet and slid it towards him like a seedy bartender. But you kept your finger on it when he tried to take it.
He shot you a frustrated glare.
“A moment on the lips and all that,” you quipped, “I’ll give you this if you tell me what’s bugging you.”
Roger puffed out his cheeks and maintained eye contact with you – he looked like he was begging, but you wouldn’t budge even with his fingers planted on the outer edges of the now melting chocolate biscuit.
“Come on. That layer of chocolate’ll be long gone before you’ve ‘fessed up!”
“This is weird, talking to someone I don’t even know about it.”
You shrugged. “I sell naughty tapes to sweaty old men and rubber dolls to greaseballs with bad breath – and I have to smile about it. Trust me, this isn’t the weirdest thing that’s going to happen to me today. Spill the beans.”
Roger tilted his head to the side with a coy smile. He wasn’t sure where to begin or how to verbalise his feelings on the matter. “Ok. So last week went well. I think she liked it. And I think she wants more of that but…” Roger trailed off. His eyes darted in the air as if he was reading from a script he had tried to commit to memory. But he was lost.
“Right, eat that,” you instructed, letting go of the biscuit.
Roger took it, dunked it in his coffee and took a bite. “It’s just,” he began through his mouthful, “it didn’t feel right for me.”
Even if you hadn’t the foggiest idea what Roger meant by that, you still made a good show of pretending that you did, nodding and dishing out an understanding, “Ah, I get you. Takes a bit of getting used to.”
Roger was dunking the other half of his biscuit when he continued. “I just didn’t feel comfortable with it, you know? I like sex. Love sex. But I felt like I’d rather have all of that done to me. And it just gets really tiring when she expects me to… perform... all the time. She wants me to pull her hair and put my hands around her neck… spank her. And I don’t know how to feel about that.” Roger finished pouring his heart out by lifting his biscuit out of his mug. It was sodden and fell apart upon removal, much to Roger’s disdain. “Well, that’s my coffee ruined.” He looked back up at you. “So yeah.”
“Have you tried – I don’t know – telling her this?”
“I did, but she was kind of dismissive about it. She told me it’s no big deal. But I’m intrigued. I want that… but for me.”
“Well, you need to figure out if it’s a crucial part of your relationship. Are you serious with Betsy?”
Roger shrugged. “She’s fun to look at, and she’s always, you know, up for it. But it’d be nice to let go for a bit. I’m not even sure how I’d feel about doling out any of the rougher stuff that she wants to try. Plus she’s a bit of a bimbo, you know?” he added, cupping his hands around a pair of imaginary breasts on his chest. “Not much going on in the brain.”
“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that last bit and just tell you how it is,” you stated. “So. The way I see it is you’ve got two – maybe three – problems here,” you announced, sitting up straight. “Number one: the Venn diagram between your kinks and your girlfriend’s kinks don’t really align. She expects you to be just as savvy and into it as she is, and I’m gonna hazard a guess here, you haven’t been as adventurous as she has. Sound right?”
“Right,” Roger nodded enthusiastically.
“Number two: you’re apprehensive because you’re not as savvy as you thought you were. You’re not comfortable diving into all the debauchery she wants, because you’ve still got much to learn.”
“Yep.”
“And third: I think you’d rather be submissive in bed.”
Roger thought about that final point for a moment. His brow furrowed as he took a sip of his coffee.
“I think I’ve nailed it,” you said.
“I think you have. Maybe.”
“So what are you going to do about it?”
Roger’s eyes lightened. “I’m going to need to have a long, hard think about that one, aren’t I?”
“You’re damn right you do.”

15? XD or 14 or 16 if you dont feel up for that. you know what i like but also feel free to do whatever you wish with them or not do them at all! -salt
Of course!
14. “You’re a disappointment.”
15. “Don’t die on me– Please.”
16. “I never meant to hurt you.”
For all his brains, all his education and study and general intellectualism, Henry can be a real dumbass. Going to a club on the anniversary of his dad’s death was a dumbass move. Going alone was a dumbass move. Calling Shaan when he was drunk off his ass was a dumbass move. Going to a meeting with Shaan hungover the next day instead of calling in sick was a dumbass move. Really, everything he’s done since leaving Alex in the States two days ago has been a dumbass move. Bea had thought that maybe being together on the anniversary of their dad’s death would help them all, let them process their grief or something, and he’d agreed to come a few days earlier than Alex was able to so that it could be just the four of them. And that was the dumbass move that started the dumbass snowball that’s left him here, alone in a country where everyone is disappointed in him.
It all comes to a head just after his meeting with Shaan, where he’d been uncomfortably hungover and even more uncomfortably aware that Shaan is not happy with him. He finds Philip in the kitchen, apparently packing a picnic basket for him and Martha to share in Kensington Gardens, and Philip says something about how Henry looks tired. Maybe, by itself, it wouldn’t have meant anything. But this is Philip, and it’s Philip on a shitty morning after a shitty day, and it’s just enough to make Henry snap.
He doesn’t say anything there. He tries to hold it all in, he does. He texts Alex that he misses him, and Alex texts that he’ll be there soon. It’s not soon enough. Henry needs to move, needs to get out of Kensington, and Buckingham, and the whole maze of rooms and people who just want to move him around and poke him and cover him in the mask of a perfect prince. Alex will make it better, but Alex isn’t going to be there until that night, so Henry needs to do something somewhere else until then. And he needs, so desperately, to do it alone.
There’s a trail not too far away from the city that his dad used to take them to. It’s private, and quiet, and it’ll let him do something his dad would have liked. Maybe, it’ll actually feel like he can grieve for once, instead of just trying to stay put together for his family and the press who had somehow decided it was alright to interview them for a story on how his family is “Healing from the Tragedy of Arthur Fox’s Death” on the anniversary of said tragedy. But, wherever he goes, he knows he has to go by himself. As much as he appreciates them, he can’t have PPOs breathing down his neck or following him. He can’t have Philip or Bea asking if he’s really doing alright, or his mom asking if he wants to talk. And, no matter what, he can’t have Shaan giving him that look again.
So he does what he always does when he wants to be on his own. He unearths a motorcycle helmet Shaan gave him years ago, takes Shaan’s backup keys from the rack in the garage, and borrows Shaan’s motorcycle. Between the full facial coverage of the helmet and the stark contrast to his public image, he figures he’s safe enough on a motorcycle, just another driver in a busy city. He can feel the wind on his hands, and around his body. The motorcycle hums under him, heat from its motor warming his legs through his pants. It’s nice. it’s nice to feel things like this, to feel the movement and the world around him as it rushes over his body.
He’s just getting out of the city when his phone rings through the helmet’s bluetooth. It’s Alex, so Henry answers, slowing down a bit so he can concentrate on talking to Alex like he’s not on a fear-induced motorcycle joyride through the country.
The first thing Alex asks is, “where are you?”
And, well. “Why?”
“After last night, I changed my flight so I could surprise you, I asked Bea to get you to the airport, but she says she hasn’t seen you all morning, and Shaan says he doesn’t know where you are, either.”
“I can meet you at the airport,” Henry says, wondering briefly who exactly told him about last night. He doesn’t remember everything, but he’s pretty sure he spent part of it sobbing outside of a London club until someone came and got him in a car. He’s not sure he wants Alex to know that. “Heathrow?”
“You still didn’t say where you are.”
“It doesn’t matter. I’ll meet you at Heathrow. When?”
“We’re starting descent, so probably about twenty minutes. I should get off the phone, but H? I... I love you, okay? Always will.”
“I love you. I’ll see you soon.”
Henry turns the motorcycle around, pulling into the other lane in a move that’s not entirely legal, but the road is empty enough out here that it doesn’t matter. He’s about thirty minutes from Heathrow, which means he’s thirty minutes from Alex. There’s a private airstrip there that they use whenever they land; it’s where Alex will be. He speeds up a bit, a tiny smile making its way to his face when he thinks about how Alex will react to the motorcycle. He thinks about Alex’s arms around his waist holding on tightly as they drive, and he’s grateful that Shaan keeps an extra helmet in the seat. He’d wanted to be alone, but really, Alex doesn’t count. He can take Alex out to the trail, and maybe Alex can help convince him that he hasn’t ruined everything. It’ll be nice, to show Alex his dad’s trail and have Alex there with him.
He pulls up next to the plane just as they’re locking the stairs down, and he waits until Alex is getting out of the plane and looking curiously at him to pull the helmet off, shaking his hair out a bit and looking up to the top of the stairs, where Alex’s jaw is on the ground. He parks the motorcycle and climbs off to meet Alex at the bottom of the stairs, and Alex wraps him in a hug that feels just a bit tighter than necessary. Which means, for a day like today has been, it’s exactly as tight as it needs to be.
“I love you. I’m proud of you. I am very into you right now.”
“There’s an extra helmet in the seat,” Henry says. He adds an, “if you want” to the end, but Alex is already headed toward the motorcycle.
“Where did this come from?”
“It’s Shaan’s. He taught me how to ride a while back because they can get around cars if I needed to escape quickly.”
“I need to send that man a fruit basket,” Alex mutters, and Henry smiles. Moments later, the crushing realization that Shaan’s still mad at him, and will probably be more upset after this, crashes down on him. He pulls his helmet on so that Alex won’t see his face, but as he settles and gets Alex set behind him, Alex says, “we’re... I love you. Always, and no matter what.”
“I... I know. I love you, too.” Henry gets them going, instructing Alex to lean into turns, and Alex hugs him tightly. And, for all Henry’s stress and Alex’s weird energy about the day, the ride is fun. It feels like the wind pulls away anything he could ever worry about, and Alex actually laughs behind him.
“This is amazing. Where are we going?”
“Out to the country a bit. There’s a place we used to go with my dad.”
Alex just hums, leaning forward a bit. His helmet is in Henry’s periphery, and Henry hates asking him to move, but he has to. Alex doesn’t seem to mind, bouncing his helmet against Henry’s affectionately before he shifts position a bit.
There’s a bang a moment later, and a red hot pain blooms in Henry’s side, right where Alex’s shoulder used to be. The motorcycle swerves a bit as Alex tightens his grip instantly. Henry corrects and speeds up, a steady stream of swear words filling his helmet.
“Was that a gunshot? Did you see where-- shit!” Alex shouts. There was another shot, and Henry veers into the other lane. A car honks at him, but he pulls out of their way, the weaving maneuvers Shaan taught him coming back in bursts as he ignores the pain in his side.
“Are you hit?”
“No, you?” Alex asks, clinging tighter to Henry. His squeeze doesn’t exactly help the pain in Henry’s side, but it’s worth it to know he’s safe.
“I’m fine. Hang on.” So Alex does hang on, while Henry desperately tries to remember where the safe house is nearby and another gunshot rings out. Alex jumps, and Henry feels another burst of pain, this time higher than the last. So someone is, genuinely, trying to kill him. Somewhere, he tries to decide if that’s more or less interesting than if they were trying to kill Alex, or either of them. It probably doesn’t matter.
The safe house. They have to get to the safe house. Henry speeds up, and Alex says something about shots coming from a car, so Henry pulls into a narrow alley, speeding through and emerging into a street he recognizes, somewhere close to a suburban safe house. He breathes a quiet prayer of thanks to whoever might be looking out for them, and Alex must feel him relax, because his grip relaxes a bit, too.
“Did we lose them?” Henry asks.
“I think so. Where are we going? Where are we now; I can tell someone what happened.”
“It’s... we’re going to a safe house. We can deal with things there,” Henry says. His adrenaline has worn off in a moment, and now he just feels tired. It hurts to breathe. Alex’s hug hurts. He’s having to work to keep his eyes focused as they pull up to the safe house and he parks the motorcycle somewhere out of sight. Shaan is going to kill him, but then again, with how much his side hurts, maybe Shaan won’t have to.
“I’m going to share my location and then call Cash and let him know what happened; do you want to call Shaan and let him figure out what to do? We’re both safe, but they should still...” Alex’s voice reaches him though a layer of cotton, and Henry can’t seem to focus on it enough. When he looks at Alex, there’s blood on the sleeve of his jacket. That shouldn’t be there; Alex said he was alright. Henry reaches a shaking hand out for it, fighting through the pulling, stretching, tearing pain in his side to take the sleeve in his hand. His vision is swimming, but that just means that when he looks up, he gets to see four of Alex’s face.
“You... blood,” he says, truly putting his English language degree to good use.
“I’m fine; it...” Alex’s eyes go wide, and he swears, pulling Henry’s helmet off. Henry blinks up at him owlishly, trying to decide why Alex is suddenly so worried. It’s a bit hard when his face won’t stay still, but it doesn’t make sense. His side doesn’t even hurt anymore, or at least, it didn’t until Alex started trying to get him off the motorcycle. The shifting pulls at his side, and there’s a strangled cry of pain. A second later, he realizes it’s his own.
“Shh, shh, it’s okay. I’m sorry, baby, I’m so sorry. I never meant to hurt you, we just need to get you inside so we can be safe. I’ll take care of everything, I promise, we just have to get you inside.”
Henry’s not sure why they have to get inside, but it matters to Alex, so he does his best to stay on his feet and get inside. The ground isn’t being particularly helpful, with all its swaying, but Alex’s arm is around him, and that feels nice. He leans against Alex, glad Alex is there with him. Alex is talking to someone, and Henry isn’t paying especially close attention until he hears Shaan’s name.
Shaan is going to hate him after this. He was already disappointed, but now Henry’s ignored everything he said. He’s been stupid, and he’s put himself and Alex in danger, and Shaan has every right to be disappointed.
Shaan deserved a better charge. He deserved someone like Philip, who might have a stick up his ass, but at least it’s a stick that kept him out of trouble. Or maybe even someone like Alex, someone who’s reckless sometimes, but at least he brings someone with him when he is. Or someone like Bea.
At the thought of Bea, a sob escapes his throat. She’s going to be upset with him, too. She was the one who got them all here, so she might blame herself, but that feels even worse than if she was just hurt by his idiocy.
“Hey, it’s okay. It’s going to be okay,” Alex says, but his voice is shaking as he bends over, hunting in a flower pot. “You’re going to be okay. I promise. Just... just hang on; you’re going to be okay, I’ve just got to find the fucking--” he’s crying. Alex shouldn’t be crying; he said he wasn’t hurt.
“Are you okay?” Henry manages. It might just be whatever’s happening with his vision, but he could swear Alex’s hands are shaking.
“Yes. Yeah, I’m okay, baby. I’m just fine, just worried about you. But I don’t have to be, because Shaan’s getting help, and you’re... you’re going to be okay.”
“Shaan’s mad at me,” Henry says. “He... I called him last night but I was drunk. Then... then I saw him this morning, and he’s upset. I haven’t been fair to him. He... he deserved better than me.”
Alex has them inside, and he’s letting Henry slide down the wall and onto a nice, cool tiled floor. It feels good to finally have something stay still, and the coolness feels nice, and Henry lets his eyes start to drift closed.
“No. No, no, no, you can’t... Henry, stay with me, please. Don’t die on me-- please, I can’t... I came all this way to tell you I love you, and i’m proud of you, and you’re the best person I’ve ever known and you can’t... stay with me.” When Henry forces his eyes back open, Alex is really crying. Henry reaches a hand out to try and wipe one away, but it just leaves a red smear on Alex’s cheek. Alex takes it in both is hands anyway, holding it close.
“Wha’d’ya mean you came...” his words are all running together, jumbling up in his mouth, but Alex doesn’t seem to mind.
“I... you called me last night, too. You said you were sad, and that you wanted someone who wouldn't be mad if you had to cry. And I said I’d always love you, and I’d come as soon as I could so that I could show you just how much I adore you. So you... you’ve got to stay with me. Shaan doesn’t think you’re a disappointment, Henry, he loves you. And I do, too, so you’ve... you’ve got to stay here with us so we can prove it to you.”
“I’ll try,” Henry mumbles. His eyelids want so badly to close, but he can’t let them. Alex is too scared in front of him, but talking seems to make Alex less scared, so he says, “I miss my dad.”
“I know. I know you do, baby. I’m sorry I left you alone yesterday. Want to tell me about him? Will that help you stay awake?”
Henry tries. He tries to tell Alex about their hiking trips, or about summers when his dad was filming in the highlands or beach days growing up, but his words are even more jumbled than before, and he can’t seem to find the ones he wants. He’s just so tired. He does find three words that can fit together in a sentence, and he manages to murmur “I love you” before the darkness takes him.
From there it comes in fits and starts. He’s jostled awake when someone picks him up, and there’s a hand in his in the ambulance, another stroking his hair. More movement when they get to the hospital, and he thinks Bea might be crying somewhere. He wants to comfort her, but the inky blackness pulls him in before he can. He wakes again to raised voices, Alex shouting something about why no one cared about emotions. It sounds important, but he can’t be bothered to worry about it as sleep takes him again.
When he wakes up for real, Alex is there, asleep beside his bed. Shaan is at the door, keeping watch. Henry knows he must be a mess when just the sight of Shaan’s back makes him feel enough emotions to elicit a sob. Shaan turns instantly, and Henry ducks his head a bit, but Shaan is across the room in two steps, hugging him fiercely around the shoulders.
“I love you. I’m proud of you. I’m sorry I ever made you doubt that.”
That makes Henry really cry, his arms coming up automatically to wrap around Shaan, his hands grabbing fistfulls of his jacket. Shaan holds him close, apologizing over and over, but Henry shakes his head.
“I love you, too. I’m sorry. I... I’m sorry I stole your motorcycle, and I’m sorry I snuck out, and I’m sorry I called you, and that I was stupid last night, and--”
“Henry. Do not apologize to me for your grief. I should have noticed you were hurting and helped you. It’s my job to look after you, and I failed at that, and I’m sorry. Your boyfriend talked some sense into me, and I’m going to do better in the future. We all are.”
Alex stirs beside the bed, and Shaan steps back a bit to let him wake up and greet Henry, crying into a tight hug about Henry’s bravery and selfless idiocy, and how as hot as he was on the motorcycle if he ever does anything like that again, Alex is going to really kill him. But as he reassures Alex, Henry looks to Shaan and mouths a simple “thank you”.
Shaan gives him a smile, then rests a hand on his shoulder.
“I’m proud of you, Henry. What you did was... reckless, and you should never do anything like it again, but I am proud of you. And nothing that you do could ever lessen my care for you.”
“I love you, too,” Henry tells him. “I love both of you so much. Thank you for taking care of me.”
“Of course. We love you. And we’re proud,” Alex says, his voice muffled by Henry’s chest. Henry strokes his hair, and Shaan gives his shoulder a squeeze before going back to stand guard at the door, sending them a smile as he keeps them safe and Henry plays with Alex’s hair, making sure he feels safe, too.

Real thing | 9B: Drop it
Tumblr media
GIFS NOT MINE. THIS IS ALL FICTION. Genre(s): mafia!au / hacker!au Group(s): NCT Pairing(s): Qian Kun x fem!reader / Jung Jaehyun x fem!reader Summary: (Y/n), a college student who joined WayV ─ an international crime organization ─ for some extra cash as one of their hackers. But what happens when she gets mixed up in a lot more heavy stuff than only sitting behind a computer and disabling security cameras? Warning(s): angst? / use of guns / blood A/N: There it is, the last chapter. Even though the series has ended, I’m probs not gonna stop writing for it. Maybe some drabbles? Maybe a spin-off? Who knows [Masterlist] [Mini masterlist]
Tumblr media
I shake my head while tears stream over my face. "You're right, I don't want to do this." I let the gun glide out of my hands before taking a couple of steps only for Jaehyun to grab me and bring me closer, wrapping his arms around my body.
"It's okay", he whispers stroking the back of my head, "you're safe now."
At those words, I burst out in tears. Mostly from shock, but also from all the bottled up emotions.
The weeks of emotional damage are finally over. The reign of Qian Kun over me has ended and it almost feels... like a heavy burden is lifted off my shoulders. Freedom and choice finally mine again after fearing for long.
With a sigh, Jaehyun lets go of me. "Let's go while Qian is still distracted. Once he notices you're gone, he will be furious. Can you run?"
My gaze goes down to my feet, which I notice are bloody from the glass I run through. Jaehyun follows my eyes and hisses, concern on his face.
"That's..."
"Painful", I say, my feet starting to sting as the adrenaline begins to settle down. "But I'll manage." I grab Jaehyun's hand and give it a reassuring squeeze, a tight-lipped smile on my face.
He nods while pulling me out of the alleyway, stopping before the end and peering around the corner. I see him mentally count down before pulling me towards a black SUV, a yelp escaping my lips.
He quickly pushes me inside as soon as the door slides open. "Quick Mark, get us out of here. Doyoung, fix up her feet, will you?"
Doyoung, who's sitting shotgun, turns around with an annoyed expression. "What she's doing here, Jung." He narrows his eyes suspiciously.
"Calm your tits, Kim. Can't you see the glass shards sticking out of her feet." Jaehyun answers Doyoung's glare with the same kind of stern gaze.
With a lot of grumbling, Doyoung climbs down the backseat with a first-aid kit under his arm, pushing Jaehyun out of the way. He places my feet on his lap and starts to clean up the blood and dirt, roughly pulling out the sharts.
As my feet get mended, I have time to look at the driver. I notice that it's one of the guests of the party, the guy with high cheekbones and black hair, now messily pushed out of his face.
He throws me a smile once he catches my eyes through the rearview. "So", he begins to break the silence in the car, "are you Qian's girlfriend?"
I shake my head. "No, I just work for him. He kind of forced me to go with him tonight. He used one of his Uno trick cards on me." A shiver runs up and down my spine at the memory of him screaming at my face and his cold eyes.
"Is that why you had... a panic attack?", Jaehyun questions while draping his suit jacket over my shoulders.
I give a short nod. "Yeah, I told YangYang later on... Oh God, Yangyang! I can't leave him without anything. And all my stuff!"
"We don't have time for you to return to your dorm to pack up your stuff. Besides, I'm quite sure Qian will send someone to check on you once he notices you're gone", Doyoung says while taking out a shard and I hiss, slightly pulling my feet back.
"He's not home, my roommate", I mumble through locked lips as Doyoung manhandles my feet. "He's staying at a friend's place."
With a loud sigh, Mark nods and turns the wheel around. "Fine, just make it quick, okay?"
I nod happily and let Doyoung bandage up my wounds, stippling out a route for me to walk without being seen.
Tumblr media
I close the door behind me softly, my eyes scanning the apartment. The lights are off and the curtains are drawn. Would Yangyang be already back?
I make my way towards my room. The door creeks and I suck in my breath, waiting for a sound. But nothing comes and I move around the room, clothes and other necessities in a large bag.
I rip the dress off my body and put on the first best clothes I see lying on the floor, rushing to get my shoes on to get out when the door opens.
Yangyang stops in his tracks and looks at me with wide eyes. “(Y/n)? What happened to your face?”, his eyes scan my face before going to the bag in my hand. “Where are you going?”
Tears fill my eyes as I rush towards him and hug him, for what can be the last time. “I’m so sorry”, I whisper before turning around and sprinting away.
As I stumble out of the building, I see Jaehyun leaning against the van with his arms crossed, his eyes fixed on the door. His eyes light up and he opens the door, helping me inside and throwing my bag in the trunk.
“Finally”, sighs Mark when Jaehyun is seated and drives away, taking sharp turns and not stopping for any traffic lights.
“Are you okay?”, whispers Jaehyun as he takes my hand in his, rubbing circles on the top of my hand as he notices tears streaming down my cheeks.
I sniff, leaning my head on his shoulder. “I... I don’t know.” I look up into Jaehyun’s eyes and wipe away a fresh tear.
“It hurts now, but in the end, everything will be alright. I promise.” He pulls out a handkerchief from his pocket and lets me blow my nose with it, a soft smile on his lips.
I crumble the handkerchief up in my hand and close my eyes, a tired sigh leaving my lips. If I just close my eyes for a second, it will be okay.
Tumblr media
My brows knit together as I hear the sound of birds chirping. I turn around with a groan and bury myself under the fluffy blankets, laying closer to the warm chest next to me.
I open my eyes, blinking at the bright light the comes through windows with white drapes and lay on my back, letting my eyes get adjusted to the sudden brightness.
“Good morning”, mumbles the sleep-filled voice of Jaehyun next to me as he pulls me closer by the waist, snuggling his nose in the crook of my neck.
“Wh- where are we?”, I question confused as to why I am no longer in the van.
“We’re in London, in one of NCT's hideouts. You fell asleep in the car and wouldn’t wake up, not even when we boarded the plane.” A chuckle leaves his lips. “I guess that’s how your body handles with stress.”
I sit up. “London? Wha- what?” I shake my head and blink, my eyes travelling across the room we’re in. A bedroom.
“Well”, begins Jaehyun as he also sits up, leaning against the headboard. “We had to leave the country after I stole the sweetheart of the most dangerous man in Hong Kong, if not China. It was not safe for you to stay any longer there. London was the first place available.”
A blush spreads over my cheeks. “I wasn’t...”, I mumble and look away. “He and I weren’t... anything. I was more scared of him than anything else.”
Jaehyun chuckles as he scoots over, making me look at him. “Everyone saw the stars in his eyes when he looked to you.”
“All I saw was cold eyes and hatred. He’s controlling...” A shiver runs down my spine and I quickly get out of bed and walk towards the window, my gaze fixating on the red double-decker bus riding around the streets. “I want to do nothing to do with him, not anymore. It was never my choice to join his stupid gang.” A sigh leaves my lips. “It was Yangyang that convinced me to work for him, seeing I have my way with computers.”
I feel Jaehyun move behind me and he wraps his arms around my body, his chin on my shoulder. “It’s okay. That part is all over now.”
Another sigh leaves my lips and I step away from Jaehyun, his handprints leaving burning hot pain where he touched me. “Look, Jae... I like you, I really do. But the truth is, the past couple of months all men have done is hurt me, scared me, scar me. Their cold eyes and taste for destruction, it chills me to the bone.”
A silence overcomes the room, the traffic outside the room so much louder all a sudden. I wrap my arms around my body and walk towards the windows. My eyes follow the red busses and caps, people walking past us, oblivious to what is happening right now. If they only knew that a gang had their hideout right in front of them, they would freak out.
Jaehyun stands awkwardly in the middle of the room, his eyes focused on me, his hands clenching and relaxing his sweatpants. “I... I am sorry. And I know, those words mean shit for all the mental damage you’ve had, but let me prove that I am─”
“─Not like them?”, I cut him off with a humourless chuckle. Jaehyun nods. I turn around and look at my bag on a chair, still zipped close. “Just... give me time. That’s all I ask from you.”
Jaehyun nods as he takes a step back. “Then that’s what you get. Take all the time in the world you need to heal and I’ll be right beside you, ready to be there you when you need me to.”

Forty Two. Part 4
Tumblr media
I am rather disappointed, I wanted to sleep at the new house but to be honest it wasn’t something we could do of course, there was no way we could because our clothes were at the hotel so that sucks for us but we ended up coming back to Monica’s and then staying here and I think I fell asleep on the couch clearly and Robyn is just next to me curled up so at the end of it, we could have stayed at there but it’s fine. I can’t believe I fell asleep like a lightweight, but the way Robyn never left my side; she is such a good woman. She wasn’t going to leave me but could have left to go to bed, I was ok on the couch because it was my bad that I fell asleep anyways “morning” watching Monica walk in with a spring in her step, she is in a happy place and I don’t blame her “morning, I can’t believe I slept here” I would like to stretch but I can’t because Robyn is hugging on my arm “you fell asleep earlier then me” I chuckled, she doesn’t know that her daughter kept me up all night having sex and then I got a little sleep and woke up extra early because I felt excited about the home reveal “still sleepy actually, but yeah. Why didn’t Robyn go up?” It’s not nice the way she’s sleeping, all curled up against me “she didn’t want to leave your side, I just warn you, my son took a picture of you sleeping, Robyn got angry, and he called you lightweight” trust Rorrey to do that “she’s my protector” Monica opened the blinds, and I squinted my eyes “that is bright, what time is it? I have no phone so I can’t check “it’s going on eight sweetie, breakfast?” Nodding my head “I can help, I mean once I shake her off I can” Robyn is stuck on to me “come to the kitchen and you can, what happened to your phone?” Monica asked “uh well we were fooling around and was running, and the phone fell face first and cracked the screen so much that I can’t see anything, it’s ok. I will get another once I get back to America” Monica shook her head laughing “you better, I don’t want to hear my daughter complaining that you haven’t, she is protective of you” looking to the side of me smiling “clearly, I will promise” Robyn is cute, I adore her a lot “see you in the kitchen” if I ever make it, looking over at Robyn figuring out how to release her grip from me.
I managed to do it, carefully laying her down on her side. She’s a mouth breather alright, I swear it makes me laugh with the way she sleeps. Stretching my body, I needed that. I actually need to book my flight ticket, but I can’t find Robyn’ phone so I will need to wait. Making my way out of the living room “Chris” near bumping into Monica “sweetie can you go to the store and get some eggs for me, the store is close by I promise” I chuckled, these stores be trying to charge me a lot of money “sure, I will go” Monica tried to give me money “oh no, I don’t want that. I will get them don’t worry. I just need to use the bathroom” Monica cooed out “thank you” walking off to use the bathroom “stinky is awake, she’s like me. We both awake early too, hey champ” Majesty looks in a daze “I wish you was taking care of her; I needed some sleep. You going to give uncle Chris a smile” holding her little hand “my little chocolate drop, anyways I will be back I need to get some eggs” pulling my sweatpants up walking off “have fun and hurry up, I’m hungry” there about to be some hungry ass people so let me hurry up, jogging up the steps. It came so naturally to do it too, like you wouldn’t think I had a leg injury, here I am running up the stairs like it’s nothing, I love it. There is one thing though, I am going to miss Barbados, I love it here. I really do, I mean at first I didn’t think I would but now, I just love the peacefulness about it, I could see myself living here forever. With Robyn of course, she’s such a island girl though. You can tell this her home and she’s comfortable, sucks I have to go but I need too.
I came for eggs and this store keeper is offering me more “I just want eggs sir” I laughed “you from America, you not tasted Bajan fudge, look come here. Follow me” waved me over, oh this is going to be long. I am too kind to say no “you here on holiday?” Following behind him “my fiancé lives here, I’m just here with her. And I live down the road” this man is sweet, but I want to go “really got rum in this fudge?” Picking the packet up “only the best rum my boy” that is crazy, getting drunk on fudge though “taste some, you move here with your wife?” Holding my hand out and he placed a piece in my hand “no, we are moving to California, but I do love Barbados. I see why she loves it here” placing the fudge in my mouth, this is good, but you can taste the rum in it, a lot of rum actually “America not a good place, your wife born and bred in Barbados she will always have her heart here, you like?” Nodding my head “I do sir, it’s nice. I will take some for my family back home” I am being nice; I have to take some “what is your wife name? I know everyone here” taking a few packets “she is known by everyone” walking back to the to the cash register “name” watching him walk back over “Rihanna” his eyes widened “sweet, beautiful Rihanna, why didn’t you say?” I snorted laughing “because I don’t like to use her name, it’s no good” shaking my head “she is lovely, that girl had my heart. She come to my store and she always tells me how much she loves us, please. Take this coconut bread to her, she buys this every-time she comes. Homemade” he started to pack away the coconut bread “I will” people get so emotional about Robyn; they love her lots.
I finally made it back to the home, I think everyone is awake now. It sounds loud, making my way to the kitchen “I got worried, are you ok? I told my mother she shouldn’t have sent you, you have no phone” Robyn gets so worried, she rushed over to me, she was waiting “it’s ok; sorry I took ages” Monica is just laughing, she does not care but want her eggs “the store keeper gave me coconut bread for you, I ended up buying rum fudge. He was making me buy more until he realised who my fiancé is, dang. I feel like I was there ages” Monica took the bag from me “that’s my mother’ fault, I one up and you wasn’t here. I haven’t got much time with you” I cooed out “Robyn, stop it. I need to use your phone to book my ticket, please” I need to do that “you have no phone to show it? You will need to print your ticket once you get there, I will drop you off” placing my arm around Robyn “stop worrying, I will be ok. When I get to Houston I will get a new phone, I’m good” walking towards the kitchen slowly, Robyn took in a deep breath “don’t go, wait for like something else” she doesn’t want me to go “Robyn, I need too. I am sorry” pressing a kiss to the top of her head “besides, you’re going to be busy planning. So it will be fine” busy kitchen “this is my auntie, you remember her” nodding my head “I do, we need to go to the hotel. I need clothes, we will eat and then go” I need to get cleaned up “we will go back, just sucks that we can’t have more time. Please in the honeymoon Chris, whatever you do. Please don’t forget that” Robyn knows I forget “I will” she is fussing “Houston though, like why there. You remember you’re mine” I snorted laughing; she is doing the most.
Flicking through flights “get the latest one, that says nine” Robyn is glued to my side watching me book this flight ticket “mhmm there is a last minute one here for six” I grinned looking over at Robyn “don’t be stupid, get first class” shaking my head “I’m not bougie babe, I will go with sitting with the poor, that is me” Robyn is unimpressed clearly “you enjoyed my breakfast Chris?” Looking up from the phone “I did, this was better than Rihanna’ food, thank you momma” she is so sweet “then move in with my mom” Robyn moved off of me “Robyn, stop that. But thank you for making this” she didn’t need too “I have to impress my son in law, I will leave you both alone” Monica left us alone but Robyn is not happy, she is so angry when she doesn’t need to be “you don’t want me to go, I get it but I have to sort out my side of the family, I need to deal with my family and get my suit and things, I will be back closer to Christmas ok, stop that” Robyn and that pouty moody face “mhmmm yeah, I will get over it, just book it for six. I will drive you” she is cute when she is angry, bless my baby being all annoyed for nothing “what if you find another girl on the way to Houston?” Robyn and these questions “does she have Rihanna money” Robyn had to laugh, she ended up laughing as she would because I mean who wouldn’t find that funny “shut up” she said trying to contain her laugh, she is cute.
Dapping Rorrey “take care, nigga I don’t want to hear no shooting, no nothing. You better come back, and we get this wedding done, get you in our family. Just take care nigga” nodding my head laughing “I gotchu, trouble comes at me but thank you for everything. I have enjoyed myself here, all of you. Especially my chocolate drop, hey awww you like me don’t you, you like your light skinned country uncle, yeah” touching her cheek “be back soon, thank y’all for the hospitality thank you” hugging Monica “what my son said is right, come back to us in one piece. Be careful out there, you’re not just Chris anymore and people get jealous, I don’t care what you think, you take care and be careful. Not everyone is your friend either” Monica means it “thank you momma, I gotchu. I will keep my eyes open with things, I still get nervous about shit till this day you know. But I will be back to annoy you all” I chuckled “bye” waving the family off, it was sweet they came out to the door to see me out “my family think you going to kill yourself, you have too many incidents Chris. I’m serious. Be careful” now Robyn has started “I know, I will” her family has started Robyn off, she will be worried about me as she always does “I get worried about you, I feel like people are jinxing you. I am going to pray so much Chris, there is so many haters out there, I will be praying” pulling open the car door, here Robyn goes.
My smile grew just watching Robyn pack my suitcase, Robyn to me seems a little stressed and I don’t know why, I feel like she is distracting herself by packing my case, I am just sat on the bed watching her “I would have washed your clothes Chris, this is ridiculous, you seriously have all dirty clothes in here? I am livid” rubbing my cheek smiling “you know what Chris, I am going to pack the clean and leave the dirty, I will wash them ok?” nodding my head “come here” waving her over “no, I need to pack your stuff and mine too, just let me do this and then we can speak” getting up from the bed, she is fussing, and I don’t like that. Slowly walking towards Robyn and placing my arm around her “come here” moving Robyn away from the suitcase “talk to me, what is up? I know you’re upset I am going but I need to for the sake of the wedding, you know this. I promise you I will be safe, I won’t be stupid. Just going there to tell my friends and family and then coming back here with you, then we can get married” Robyn turned into me, hugging me close “I just got hat goodbye’s and I hate being away from you, I find it hard. But I love you so much, just be safe, don’t worry me” I can tell that Robyn worries about me, I don’t blame her because shit do be happening all of the time, I don’t even be doing anything either.
I am all checked in, I just need to go passed security now. It’s sweet that I got dropped off at the airport by Rihanna, it’s crazy but that happened “that is me” walking over to Robyn “I wish it wasn’t” nodding my head understanding “come, let me walk you back. Just go home ok? Don’t stay around here, I don’t like you getting stared at. People are around and you have no security either, so let’s go” wrapping my arm around Robyn as we walked off, hearing Robyn sniffle with her head down “please don’t cry, we will see each other soon. I will get a phone too, trust me” I stopped walking to walk around her “promise” hugging Robyn close “please get a phone, I am going to worry to know if you landed. Just remember Chris, you aren’t just a regular guy anymore, you need to accept that. Don’t worry me so much, I can’t even contact you and that really bugs me, I will be watching your flight back to America” I know that is worrying Robyn “I know, I promise” that is the first thing I will be doing, getting a new phone.

Feels Like This (Part 3)
Emma Swan is a once lost girl who is now making good. She has made a way in the world for her and her young son, Henry, and after years of hard work, Emma is in her last stretch of schooling for the career she’s always wanted. Unexpectedly, she finds herself in a tiny nation no one’s ever heard of for her last year of study. She knows nothing about the place except that it’s beautiful, has a world-renowned child life program, and is filled with possibility. Meanwhile, Prince Killian is hardly happy with the title he received at birth. As the second in line for the crown, Killian has long tried shaking his royal duties. He built a career in the royal navy, and has stayed out of the limelight, but his ship has been called to port indefinitely at the request of his brother, the King. Fate (in her many forms) brings Emma and Killian together and the resulting fic is a cute, fluffy, trope filled romp featuring heart felt moments, a healthy dose of insta-love and an assured happily ever after. Story rated M and will have 12 parts. Part 1 Here, Part 2 Here. Available on FF Here and AO3 Here.
A/N: Hey everyone! So thank you so much first and foremost for the love you guys have shown this fic. I have been so excited to write this and have been waiting ages to share it all with you. This is the kind of fluff and cuteness I personally need in my life right now, and I know a lot of you probably feel the same. Strap in for my usual dose of CS feels, and yes, for those of you asking, this is the moment CS will meet. Hope you all enjoy and thank you all so much for reading!
“And you’re sure you’ve got everything?” Emma asked, looking at Henry and knowing that he was ready to head into camp. They’d been over this numerous times, and at this point they were already out of the house and in front of the hall where campers congregated every morning. Still, Emma couldn’t help trying to soak up the moment with her kid just a little bit longer, and if that meant running through their list once more, so be it. “You have your lunch?”
“They give us lunch there, Mom.”
“Oh right,” she said, still shocked at how much was provided seeing as this program was free through the University. The children of all faculty and students were allowed to come, and it completely eradicated a need for her to find alternative childcare. Back in the States they had nothing like this built in anywhere. Getting Henry to camp previously either took a funding miracle, an insane amount of luck, or extra shifts at a second job. Usually he stayed with Mrs. H and Emma tried desperately to make it up to their neighbor. But now community sponsored help was becoming a given way of life, and every kid in Montenarro, no matter their background, seemed to have at least one path to a bright and happy summer.
“You’ve got your bag? How about water?”
“Yes and yes. We ran through this already, remember? I told you everything I had while you made breakfast.”
Emma smiled, knowing he was right, as crazy as it sounded. It was wild to her that on a weekday she would have the time, the patience, and the extra bit of cash to afford the spread they ate together today.  They had eggs, fruit, bacon, oatmeal and there were fresh pastries if they wanted. It was like their special holiday brunch, which happened on Christmas or on one of their birthdays, but they’d had this or something similar every day for nearly two weeks. It might seem over the top, but between the later starting hours here in Montenarro, her reduced work schedule with a generous stipend, and the fairer prices at the markets, Emma finally felt like she could give her son what he deserved. For years they’d chowed down on discount cereal, and now, in an attempt to enjoy themselves and resemble their new neighbors, they were taking a slower, and far and away more luxurious approach.
“I remember, kid. So I’ll be back here at four, and if I’m a little late -,”
“I just hang out a while longer, I know,” Henry said, looking to the doorway. A grin appeared at his face as he spotted one of his new friends. The other young boy waved in their direction and Henry waved back, causing Emma’s heart to melt. Her son not only had friends here, he was thriving. He was so happy, and seeing him this way made her happy too. “You don’t have to rush, Mom. I know your work ends early now, but maybe you could do something just for yourself.”
“Are you trying to tell me you’d rather stay later?” Emma asked, and Henry looked embarrassed for a moment before nodding.
“Not too much later, but Michael and Talia stay until five, and we’ve got this cool game going that we made up yesterday. It’s kind of hard to explain. But I can come home at four still. It’s okay, I’ll just -,”
“No, no, Henry, I am thrilled that you’re having a good time. I’ll be here at five.”
“Cool! Thanks, Mom!” Henry exclaimed, giving her a quick hug before heading for the door. “See you at five!”
She watched him get in safely, and the director of the camp who she’d met last week wished her a fond hello as she checked in Henry. Her greeting was pleasant and polite, and Emma knew if she had time the woman would talk her ear off about what it was like to be from America or the upcoming summer festivals. As it was though, Emma had to get going. She wasn’t late for work or anything, but she was eager to get there. Her work at the JR foundation was shaping up to be amazing. She was learning a lot, but she already felt like one of the team. Everyone who was there appreciated her, not just for working and helping out, but for her ideas. They were so responsive to suggestions, and always willing to try out any new concepts Emma had only really read about in books.
Their director, Marco, wasn’t like a normal boss. He didn’t hover or micromanage or come across as inaccessible. In fact, despite all the other calls on his time, Marco was with them all helping the kids and participating in their activities as much as he could. That leadership was so amazing in a space like this, and from everything Emma had experienced, the precedent he set was entirely reflective of the culture at large. Every person at the institute was determined to do right by these kids, and the children, despite the sad circumstances surrounding most of their lives, were doing so well and seemed so happy despite it all.
It was only a few city blocks from Henry’s camp to the center, but Emma let herself linger in the walk. She moved more slowly, matching the pace of the people around her, who never seemed to rush, and instead just enjoyed each day as it came. People were always smiling and laughing, and even the fighting was good natured. The streets were bustling but not full. They were cleaned regularly, maintaining the gorgeous cobblestone walks and the beautiful vintage architecture. It was warm here – a quintessential coastal retreat in the Mediterranean that she’d only ever imagined in her dreams or seen on travel TV. Everything considered, it was the opposite of New York, and despite having lived in the city she and Henry called home for more than ten years, Emma had to admit she didn’t miss it… at least not as much as she thought she would.
Don’t get too attached, Emma. This is temporary. Enjoy it while you can, but your real life is nothing like this.
The voice in her head was negative, but had a point, and Emma had no choice but to heed the advice. She would enjoy every bit of this she could, but she couldn’t get too comfortable, otherwise she’d miss this when they left. Even thinking of the heartbreak that may come if Henry continued to love it here so much left her reeling, but Emma carried on, pushing down that worry as she made her way past the institute’s front gates. It was important that she be in the right headspace when walking through these doors. The kids deserved her at 100%, and that was what she planned to be for them. Shaking off the worry from moments ago she moved inside, and as soon as she arrived, she was greeted by the sound of children running and laughing.
Some people might look at this place right now, apparently filled to the brim with kids who were wired and excitable now that it was officially summer and the school term was over, and think that this was chaos, but Emma knew better by now. Every child here ranging in age from six months to sixteen was attended to and accounted for. They had a large brood of kids, with sixty-seven at last count, and this was the biggest home under the JR foundation, though there were half a dozen more around the small country. Many children who were here would eventually be adopted, or would merge into part of a nationally funded fostering program, known for being one of the best systems in the world. In their last two years of school, older children went to special homes or foster placements designed just for them, to give them the attention and time they needed (instead of leaving them to the wayside for the sake of younger, needier children), and to prepare them for life outside of the system. Emma would eventually shadow a center that worked with those young adults, but for now, she was enjoying the hustle and bustle of the general group.
“Look, Char, it’s Emma!” one young boy named Thomas proclaimed to his little sister Charlotte from across the room, and in seconds every child had turned and was excitedly greeting her. Some of them came right up to hug her or give her a high five, but at the very least they all nodded in her direction and chirped out a fond hello.
“Good morning everyone,” Emma said, noticing the bags along the doorway and how the older kids were dressed in a uniform of navy colored shorts and florescent green shirts. “Did I miss something?” Emma asked aloud, not really to anyone in particular, but an answer came from one of the institute’s most trusted sources.
“Flora is taking the older children to the seaside today for a science lesson.”
The woman who filled Emma in was named Elsa, and despite the humidity in the air and the exuberance of the children all around them, she was totally put together and looked completely unstressed. Her hair was tied back in her usual braid, and her turquoise colored summer dress flowed in a way that looked poised for a summer catalogue. Elsa was effortless in an enviable way, but she was so kind and eager to be of help that Emma couldn’t begin to muster jealousy. In a short time Emma had begun to consider Elsa a friend, but though the two of them were roughly the same age, Emma was still a student and Elsa was a fully-fledged child psychologist who lived at the institute full time. She, and her sister Anna, who also worked at the institute, but as an activity’s coordinator, were two peas in a pod, but they’d done everything they could to include Emma and help her get her bearings in this new world.
“Lessons? In the summer?” Emma asked, not surprised that the institute was providing supplementary schooling year-round. She’d seen as much since starting here, but she was more taken aback at how excited these kids looked. Every child aged ten and older was gathered down here, no doubt waiting to fill the two institute vans out back. Still, how fun could a science lesson be?
“We use the term lessons lightly. For the rest of the morning the children will explore the tide pools at the national endowment’s shoreline about an hour north. There are some very unique ecosystems there, and so there is a whole lot to learn. But Flora will have them break for lunch and Anna takes over in the afternoon.”
“What’s she got in store for them?” Emma asked and Elsa shook her head.
“Well I can’t exactly say, as I’ve been sworn to secrecy.” Her smile grew at how silly that sounded, and she looked over her shoulder to check for Anna, but gave a little more when she saw that the coast was clear. “Let’s just say it’s going to be a jam-packed day that will go out with a blaze of glory.”
The emphasis Elsa used on the word ‘blaze’ made Emma think that there would likely be a beachside bonfire included, but before she could get confirmation, things started moving quickly. The older kids were summoned to the shuttles to go out for their day, and Emma meanwhile saw the clock and realized it was time for her to report to Marco’s office to get her assignment for the day. Moving through the playroom and the sunroom, which had the younger children and the babies respectively, she finally found her way and after knocking she walked into the brightly lit hub of all things here at the institute.
“Ah, good morning, Emma,” Marco said with a big smile, waving her in and gesturing that she should take a seat beside one of the other workers at the institute, Marie. Marie was Marco’s second in command, and though she never used the phase herself, the children had taken to calling her Nana. She had a maternal way about her, and every child seemed to love her as they might a favorite grandmother. “You’re here just in time. I’ve been talking with Marie and we think that today would be a perfect opportunity to try one of your intervention measures.”
“Really?” Emma asked, surprised, but excited at the thought. This would be the third that they had tried, and the last two had gone off without a hitch. “Which one?”
“The ‘Music Makes Me…’ one seems like a good choice. We have a few children who, to now, have been less responsive to our normal socializing measures. Their either shy or hurting, and we’re hoping to help them open up. Elsa’s our counselor on shift today and she’s eager to help oversee this. You’ll take the lead, but she’ll be there for any help you might need. We realize it’s a long-term project,” Marco said, looking down at a piece of paper to check his facts. “You wrote here three times a week for eight weeks. Is that right?”
“Yes, sir. Ideally. Positive identity work can start yielding results as soon as three weeks, but the Princeton Psychology Review did a study this winter that showed children’s habit forming reaches its peak effectiveness after the eight-week mark.”
“And this is one of the projects you modeled off of your own parenting experience, correct?” Marco asked as Emma nodded. Her throat grew tight at the genuine emotion behind this tactic, but this was a place with people she trusted not to judge her. As such, she shared what sparked the idea.
“When Henry first started school, he was one of the only kids that wasn’t in a two-parent household. Even the other single parents had some sort of family behind them, like grandparents, aunts and uncles, or other kids. I’m not exactly sure how long he struggled with being different in that way, he’s an independent kid and he kept his pain over that closed in, probably to spare me from being worried. But when his teachers gave me their assessment and told me what they thought was happening, I set something not dissimilar to this up. We tried painting and crafting to express his emotions, but the music seemed to help so much more.”
“It’s really remarkable, the way you’ve melded your experience with your son and your own past in with all of this cutting-edge research. It’s one of the many reasons we’re so thrilled you’re with us this year,” Marie said cheerfully and Emma warmed at the comment. Telling the story of her son’s pain at not having a father, however vague she had kept it, was hard, especially because Emma lay awake many nights wondering if he was missing something fundamental by not having a father. She wondered if it may hurt him in the long run. But she was reassured by the fact that she always did her best for Henry, and that her experience could help not just her son, but the children here who had no present parents at all.
“Given that it’s rather late notice, do you think you can manage? We’ve got a window right now for a few hours. Elsa’s already selected the children who may need the intervention most. She kept it in the 5-8 age range as you suggested.”
Emma immediately assured them that she could pull this together, as the concept was not hard. Basically what this practice/exercise included was playing music that was grounded in emotion. Some that were happy, some more subdued, some fast, and some slow, and encouraging kids to do what they wanted when they heard that. For Henry he’d always loved to run around and dance at the fast-paced songs. Then the slower ones were always more interesting. Sometimes he picked up a favorite toy, drew a picture on the supplies she left out, or created his own little imaginary game. All the while, however, Emma’s job was to engage, support, and ask questions.
The questions always started mildly. What’s your favorite color today? (she’d learned early not to box her son into ultimate favorites). If you could have any snack in the world what would you choose? What animal makes the funniest sound? Then the questions would evolve. Her son, like many kids, was a vivid dreamer and Emma often asked about those night time visions. Sometimes they meant nothing but sometimes they told her a lot. She wanted to include that with these kids, but also include more focused questions to them about how they felt here at the institute, what they felt like when they told people from the outside about living here, and what they dreamed of for the future. She’d always ended each session with Henry in two parts. The first was to ask Henry what his biggest wish was for someone else, and the second was to ask his biggest wish for himself. Kids at his age were filled with wishes and wants, but Emma knew from personal experience, that that may already be flickering away in kids without parents. She’d been seven years old when her hope truly started to fade away, and she believed if she’d had these kind of positive affirmations and people who were working to see her happy and well situated, her relationship with the world and herself would have been much easier.
In the end, Marco, Marie, and Elsa decided that there were five best candidates for today’s intervention. Stella and Timothy were a biological brother and sister who had been at the institute for about a year. They were eight and six, and both of them were doing pretty well despite their parents losing custody of them from continued problems with substance abuse. They were likely moving into a fostering situation by the end of the summer, but they had been here a bit longer than normal because they were bonded together and making that accommodation took patience and the right placement. According to Elsa, Stella’s teachers a few times had mentioned her shyness, especially when people brought up her home life. Malek was a seven-year-old boy from a similar situation, though his father was in the process of getting clean for his son. The institute was always cautious for replacement with parents who struggled, but if his father could demonstrate stability and stay clean a full year, the legal system would grant him custody again. Malek, understandably, had mixed feelings about going back, and Emma wanted to try and help him with those through this process. Carlos, meanwhile, was a rambunctious six-year-old who had been given up at birth. He was shaped by his status as an orphan, and had a few close adoption calls that ultimately fell through. Luckily, though, a new family with sincere interest and the means to take care of him was stepping up, and they had exactly eight weeks before the system would process their filing for adoption, a perfect amount of time to help Carlos with some of these image issues before he settled into his new home.
The final child in Emma’s care today, however, was Cecilia, or as the other children called her, ‘CeeCee.’ Cecelia was a newcomer to the institute, and at just barely five years old, she was the youngest in Emma’s group today. She was quiet and withdrawn, but given her background that was all to be expected. At such a young age Cecelia had already been through so much. When she was two her parents had tragically passed in a car accident, and she’d moved in with her grandmother. Her grandmother was loving and did everything she could for her, but she was in poor health, and was now in need of care herself. Emma wasn’t here on the day that Cecelia came to the foundation, but Elsa had mentioned it with tears in her eyes a few days prior.
“I’ve seen so much heartbreak in this job, but watching that little girl realize she was being left behind… It was awful. She cried so quietly and for so long. It took us weeks to get her to say anything at all.”
Even now Cecelia was always quiet. She’d blended in a bit more with the other children, but she wasn’t particularly bonded to any of them. She had grown to be more trusting of the adults, but not in a really promising way. With Emma she’d always been sweet and well-tempered, but Emma hoped that this process might help her, and might get her to a place where she could be better socialized and cared for.  The next few hours proved to be even more promising than Emma dared to hope. All five children not only had fun, but made good steps towards progress. They all confided a little bit in Emma and Elsa, and they all responded well to the method. When Emma asked them if they’d like to do this again in a few days, all five of them were thrilled, and little Cecelia, who was normally so shy, was the biggest shock of all. Over the course of the few hours she’d opened up so much to Emma, and by the end of the session she was holding Emma’s hand tightly, intent on going with her through her day. Emma was so happy to see this little girl doing so much better, and she had to admit she was invested in this child, perhaps more than any other she’d met so far at the institute.
“Do you think it’s all right?” Emma asked, motioning downwards, but not saying everything aloud. The last thing she wanted was for Cecelia to not feel wanted when she’d made such tremendous progress, but she was worried about what might happen if she grew too attached.
“This happens sometimes. Kids have a sense for safe spaces. She was already responding really well to you before,” Elsa said, crouching down and waving at Cecelia, sharing a soft compliment for the toy rabbit she was carrying with her today, which made the little girl smile and chirp out a gentle ‘Thank You.’ Even that little show of gratitude and the genuine smile was an improvement, and Emma felt a burst of pride seeing this young girl come out of her shell. “We’ll keep an eye on it, but I think it’s best to see where it goes. She’s showing no signs of dependency, and hopefully you’ll be the perfect gateway for her to let the rest of us in.”
Emma hoped that Elsa was right, and as everyone in the center gathered for lunch, Cecelia stayed close by. Emma did her best to stay attentive to all of the kids who choose to eat with her today, but she also wanted to lead this lost little girl towards others who may be her friends. She was making good progress with another five-year-old named Ava, who was eager to be friendlier with Cecelia, when Marie approached, appearing frazzled and a little shaken.
“Is everything all right?” Emma asked, careful to keep her words calm and her tone even so as not to scare the kids. Her instincts were that something bad must be happening, but Marie shook her head, quickly dispelling her of that notion.
“Everything is wonderful, dear. We just have an unexpected visitor – actually I guess visitor is the wrong word. He’ll be staying on here for a while to work with us all. It’s a bit unexpected, but I dare say it’ll prove a delight in the end, for us and for the children.”
“Who is it that’s coming?” Emma asked, and Marie looked poised to blurt something out, but then caught herself and weighed her words carefully.
“One of the members of the family who run the foundation.”
Emma now began to understand the sudden rise in stress. Whatever JR stood for, and whichever family it was that could afford to spend so much on these resources, they must be both terribly rich and powerful. Being so new here, Emma didn’t know any background about the endowment, but she hoped that whoever was coming would be a help and not a hindrance. Surely they’d come here and see how much good work was being accomplished. She hated to think they’d be coming to make cuts or roll back funding.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” Emma asked and Marie shook her head.
“Oh no dear. You’re doing a wonderful job. This isn’t an assessment of any kind. I believe it’s a genuine act of charity. You see he’s been in the military, and now he’s come home. His family’s no doubt pushing him towards some kind of occupation, and he’s chosen this as his pursuit.”
Emma wanted to ask more, about if this mystery man had any experience with kids or why, even if he was so very rich, Marie displayed school-girlish enthusiasm at his coming, but the older woman moved on to handle something else. Instead Emma waved Elsa over and asked her if she knew the man who was coming.
“Of course I do, everyone knows him,” Elsa said, thoroughly adamant that this stranger was of some notoriety. Then her features softened and she took on a thoughtful expression. “Well I suppose we know of him. We’ve never met, you see. But it’s impossible not to know him.”
Emma nodded, but she was still somewhat surprised. To this point she hadn’t gathered a sense that the family who ran the endowment was exceedingly involved in the day to day of the center. But then again, Elsa had been here far longer than her, and so she probably needed to keep track of the important players who were their most generous donors. Emma could have remained hung up on the strangeness of it all, but instead her mind wandered to the few details she did know. He was a military man, newly home, and he was coming here to make a difference. She thought about that and what that meant, and she found that she already liked him, or at least his attitude. Serving in the armed forces meant a life of service – to come home from that and still want to help others was admirable, and she hoped it would provide a good role model for the children, no matter what his actual child life background might be.
From the window in the great hall where all of the children and staff took their meals, they could all see down the back drive where a second entrance to the center was located. At that moment three black SUVs began their ascent, and the children’s attention immediately perked up as they ran to the windows. Emma felt the growing anticipation at the new arrival, and she wondered why there would need to be three SUVs. It reminded her of the protective details that sometimes came in the city, when big time politicians made their way to city hall where she worked for some sort of meeting or photo op. But what would be the reason for such a display today? Why would anyone need one of those when coming to a children’s center? It was hard to grasp, but then she questioned her instinct. The men who exited from the vehicles weren’t in high profile suits. They were more casually dressed, just like any workers here at the center. She wasn’t able to see all of them, but soon enough there were voices in the hall. Marco and Marie greeted the newcomer, and Emma only caught a snippet of the conversation.
“We’re thrilled to have you here, Sir.”
“Killian, please.”
“Killian. Right, sorry. That may take getting used to.”
“Not a problem. We have time.”
Emma was caught up in the sound of the new voice. It was distant, but even from here she felt an impact at the gravel in the tone and the lilt of the accent. It washed over her, sparking a sizzling sensation that was foreign to her, and after weeks in this country she’d always found the accent pleasing, but never responded like this. She found herself wanting to know what this man looked like, to see what kind of appearance could go with a voice that enticing, but she was getting ahead of herself. What did it matter what he looked like? He was going to be a coworker, right? This was hardly the time or place to be interested in someone. Still her stomach swooped with the tell-tale flutter of butterflies and she shifted in her seat. The action, along with the new voice in the hall, sparked something in Cecelia to change from comfortable to tense. The young girl grabbed at Emma’s shirt, latching on for a sense of perceived safety. Emma’s heart reached out to this poor, sweet girl, and she took her hand gently, trying to assure her as swiftly as she could.
“It’s all right, honey. You’re safe here. I promise.”
“I don’t like strangers,” Cecelia said and Emma tried not to get misty eyed at the sense of uncertainty this little girl held so tight.
“I was a stranger once, wasn’t I?” Emma asked and Cecelia considered that before nodding.
“But you’re nice to me. You read us stories and play us music. You’re my most favorite friend.”
“And you are my friend too, honey. So let’s wait and see what kind of person he is before we decide if we like him, okay? You never know – he could be your favorite too.”
Cecelia looked skeptical but ultimately agreed, and Emma was glad to have that sorted. She had been so focused on curtailing Cecelia’s worry that she forgot where they were. Now she noticed everyone else was standing, children and staff alike, so she helped Cecelia down from her seat and stood up herself. The sounds of people walking in played out around her, but Emma took a moment to make sure her young charge was settled before looking back up. She patted Cecelia’s hair and brushed her full brown curls from her face, with care. Only then did she look up. But when she did, she never could have expected what would happen.
As her eyes took in the stranger, their gazes met, and she was struck by a sense of recognition and realization that she’d never felt before. Something clicked for her in that moment, in the first few seconds of their seeing each other, and her awareness grew stronger and stronger. So much bubbled up to the surface, emotions and feelings and desire and interest. It was like something was opened within her, and she felt drawn into this man and unable to resist. This stranger had blue eyes, intense but warm all at once, piercing in a way that they seemed like she knew them and they knew her. Instinctively she looked to the rest of him - Killian he said his name was - but it didn’t help her sense of disorientation. His face was remarkable, strong and sure. His hair was dark, and his figure was no doubt honed for the expectations of his years of military service. She felt herself taking him all in, and then caught herself and thought about what a scene she was making. This wasn’t appropriate. Oggling this man just because he was hot – okay more than hot, he was… god was it lame to say perfect – oh Christ she was doing it again. She needed to stop, but when she looked up at him, she caught him doing the same thing to her. It was incredible to feel his interest, and for a moment it was like the world stopped spinning so the two of them could find each other.
Find each other? Jesus, Emma, get a grip. The thought ran through her head as Marco began to address them all.
“Everyone, this is our newest friend here at the institute, Killian.”
“You’re big,” a boy named Seamus called out, unceremoniously and for a beat Marco and Marie looked concerned, but Killian only laughed.
“You should see my brother.”
“Is he coming too?” Marie asked, looking like she might actually be done in by the news.
“No, ma’am,” Killian said with a small smile and Marie let out a sigh of relief. What was that about?
“Why do you stand so straight?” another boy asked and Killian explained.
“I was in the royal navy.” This was met by a chorus of oohs and aahs, from the girls and boys alike.
“Are you a good person?” someone asked, and only after a moment did Emma realize it was Cecelia. She was shocked at the display of bravery from her little companion, but then that was compounded by Killian’s movement towards them. He split his looks between Cecelia and her, but when he approached he crouched down so as to be eye level with the little girl.
“What’s your name, little one?”
“Cecelia.”
“Cecelia. That’s a beautiful name,” he said honestly and Cecelia swayed side to side a bit with the compliment. “Now as for your question, I certainly try to be good.”
“But you’re a stranger,” Cecelia said, looking at him with a furrowed brow, as if this was some kind of simple math he should understand.
“For now I am. But not forever, I hope.”
“My Emma was a stranger too. She’s a good person. Are you like my Emma?”
Now Killian rose to full height and he addressed Emma as much as he did Cecelia. “I do like her.” Emma’s heart skipped and then she watched his face shift in embarrassment as he realized what he said. “I mean I hope I’m like her, lass. But only time will tell.”
“Miss Emma, does time talk?” Cecelia asked and Emma bit her lip to keep from laughing as her eyes caught Killian’s again.
“No, honey. It’s an expression. It means that with a little bit of time you will know if he’s a good person. You just have to be patient.”
The look Killian gave her in that moment was packed with so much. Gratitude, interest, and something more. There was a charge between them that she just couldn’t deny, and she could tell he felt it too. But before he could say anymore, Marco called everyone’s attention again.
“Anyone have any ideas as to how we should welcome Killian?” he asked and a chorus of answers came flooding in.
“I know! I know! We should show him our giving tree.”
“No! We should show him our playground!”
“I want to show him my pirate ship!”
“We should feed him the turnovers Cook makes. She hides them in a secret spot but I know where they are!”
“Well that all sounds brilliant, especially the turnovers. Why don’t we do all of it?” Killian asked, before looking to Marco who nodded readily. The kids looked excited, and were eager to go, but before things got too crazy, Killian looked back at Emma and grinned.
“It was a pleasure meeting you, Emma.”
And with that, and with so much swag and sexiness it made her a little dizzy, this mysterious new man set off, throwing himself into the deep end with these kids, and showing them all that he could hold as own, just as surely as he could hold her attention.
Post-Note: So there we have it! I know, I know, you’re probably mad I kept their meeting so short and waited until the very end, but next chapter I am planning to include this first meeting from Killian’s POV. This story, as much as any of my stories can, has a bit of a slower build, because there are a lot of elements I really want to include, but I promise there’s plenty of fluff in store and a lot of cuteness that yet to come. Thank you all so much for reading, and I really hope you’ll leave a comment or a review. I’d love to see what you all think and what you’d like to see going forward in this new fic. Anyway, I will do my best to update soon (probably next weekend), but in the meantime I hope you’re all well, safe, and happy in this uncertain time!

Caught in his web, Chapter 1
Summary: Crime lord billionaire, Loki Laufeyson, is owed money. But the man is unable to pay up, so instead his daughter is given to Loki as payment. She is not all too pleased with that, but has no choice in the matter. Now she belongs to the most dangerous man in the city.
Warnings for this fic: Rape/non-con, kinda kidnapping, some body-shaming later in the fic, violence, murder. Loki is not a nice kinda guy.
-
Loki leaned back against his desk, his forefinger stroking across his lower lip while he was deep in thought. The man on front of him was on his knees, begging and pleading for Loki’s mercy.
‘Why should I give you any longer, hmm? I was already gracious enough to give you an extra two weeks to pay me.’ Loki’s tone was low and dangerous.
‘I know… And I am so grateful, Sir. I just… I need longer. Just a few days, please. I beg you.’ The man was shaking in fear, he was desperate.
Loki stood up straight and walked over to the window, sliding his hands into his pockets as he looked out across the city.
‘I am a patient man, Kenneth. But you are really, pushing me to my limits. If you do not have the money to pay me by the end of today, what can you offer me instead?’ He asked, not turning around to look at him.
‘What… what do you mean?’ Kenneth asked, confused.
Loki’s two right hand men, Samuel and Ethan, were stood by the door and shared a knowing look with one another.
Loki turned and walked slowly back towards his desk, picking up his glass of whiskey he took a sip and looked at Kenneth again, regarding him carefully.
‘How is your daughter? What was her name again… Chloe? She must be what, eighteen now, yes?’ He took another sip of his drink before crossing one foot over the other and leaning back against his desk.
Kenneth felt his stomach drop, not happy with where this was going. Surely not…
‘She turned eighteen last month… She’s just about to start college soon.’ Kenneth said, his voice guarded.
Loki nodded and looked up at the roof for a moment, thinking. He then looked back down at Kenneth and motioned for him to stand.
The man scrambled up to his feet, but it didn’t make him feel any better because Loki was still far too scary. He was really starting to regret taking out a loan with him now. But he had been so desperate, in so much deep trouble he’d really needed the money.
‘She’s the girl I saw last year at the company party. Pretty little thing... I’ll make you a deal, Kenneth. It’s your last chance, unless you have my money by the end of the day.’ Loki stood up straight and stepped in close, looking down at Kenneth.
Kenneth swallowed hard.
‘Give me your daughter, and I will wipe your debt clean.’
-
Chloe was in her room getting ready to go out, she was about to put on her make-up when she heard her dad come home. It became obvious he’d had a rough day, because she could hear him arguing with her mum. Though she couldn’t quite make out what they were arguing about.
Worried, she went downstairs to see what was happening. When she reached the bottom of the stairs, she froze momentarily. There was a strange bearded man stood at the door, short brown hair, hands folded on front of him. He was wearing a suit and was just under seven foot tall, he was huge.
The man looked at her and nodded slightly, but said nothing. She frowned and cautiously moved past him, heading to the living room where her parents were arguing.
‘You can’t do this, Kenneth! It’s madness!’ Her mother screeched.
‘I have no choice, love. I’m sorry. But he won’t…’ He trailed off when he saw his daughter walk into the room.
‘Dad? Mum? What’s going on, why are you arguing?’ She looked between them both.
Her Mum burst into tears and rushed over to Chloe, hugging her tightly.
‘Mum, what is it?’ She asked, looking over at her dad while her mum almost crushed the life out of her.
‘Chloe… sweetheart. I need you to come with me.’ Kenneth said.
He felt so guilty, but he was in trouble. And this was the only option. After arguing briefly with Loki, saying that he couldn’t have his daughter, Loki pointed out that if he didn’t pay him cash or his daughter by the end of the day, then his daughter wouldn’t have a father anymore. And he would just go and collect what he was due anyway.
So instead of risking his life and his daughter being kidnapped, he was going to hand his daughter over willingly to the most ruthless gang leader in the country. The most dangerous man… Kenneth just had to hope that Loki would look after his daughter.
‘What? Where?’ Chloe asked, frowning.
‘I’ll explain on the way. Just… go pack a bag.’ Kenneth said as he prised her mum off her.
Her mum could do nothing but cry and she ran out of the room.
Chloe was really confused. ‘What! How long for? What am I packing?’
‘Stop with the questions, Chloe. I will explain on the way. Just pack some clean clothes and toiletries. You’ve got five minutes.’ Kenneth said. This was already difficult enough, he didn’t want it to be dragged out any longer.
‘I was supposed to be meeting my friends!’ Chloe argued.
‘I won’t tell you again, go pack your bag.’ Kenneth snapped.
‘Fine!’ Chloe huffed and stormed upstairs, making herself clear on her feelings by stomping up every single step and slamming her bedroom door shut in the process.
Samuel, who was waiting by the door, quirked his lips up at her attitude. But he waited patiently, watching Kenneth pace back and fore in the hall while they waited for the girl.
Eventually, when Kenneth was just about to go up to get Chloe, she came downstairs with a rucksack. She had a look of thunder on her face, not happy at all.
She followed her dad and Samuel into an awaiting blacked out car. She got in the back with her dad while Samuel got in the passenger’s side. There was a driver already in there, he’d been waiting for them.
‘Where are we going?’ Chloe asked when they moved off.
She knew her dad worked for some rather unsavoury company. And that he’d been in trouble money-wise a few months ago, but it seemed he’d gotten out of it somehow.
‘Chloe… You know that I love you, right?’ Kenneth turned to her and took her hands. She was starting to get scared now, because he looked scared.
‘Dad, just tell me what the hell is going on.’ She said, irritated.
‘I took out a personal loan, from someone called Mr Laufeyson, who is an investor for the company.’ Kenneth started, Chloe’s eyes went wide.
She had heard about Mr Laufeyson, he was a very rich man who was connected to many companies in the city. Some would even say that he runs the city as some kind of untouchable crime lord. But Chloe was never sure if they were true or not.
‘I have been unable to pay him back. Sales at the company haven’t been going well lately… I had to sell my shares, which were a lot less than I had hoped for. And now, I’ve run out of time.’ Kenneth looked down, ashamed.
‘What’s that got to do with me or where we’re going?’ Chloe grumbled.
‘He… he said that I either have to pay him the money by the end of today. Or… give you to him as payment.’
Chloe felt like the wind was knocked out of her. She pulled away from her father as rage and upset bubbled up inside. ‘No… You can’t! Dad!’ She started crying and turned to try and open the car door, but it was locked.
‘STOP THE CAR! LET ME OUT OF HERE!’ She screamed and started banging on the window.
The driver and Samuel remained calm, not doing or saying anything. Kenneth tried to calm her down, but she was hysterical.
This can’t be happening.
-
Loki had just dealt with some unfinished business, now he was waiting in his office with Ethan.
‘I’m surprised that the company wasn’t able to pay Kenneth enough money for his shares, I thought it was doing well.’ Ethan said to Loki, they were both sitting at his desk with a drink.
‘Well, it is a shame that his shares suddenly took a drastic drop. And that his fellow shareholders were not very loyal to him, easily persuaded to lie through their teeth for a few grand.’ Loki grinned wickedly.
Realisation slid across Ethan’s face. He threw his head back laughing and raised his glass to Loki. ‘You are a wicked, wicked man.’
‘Oh I know.’ Loki chuckled. ‘But wait till you see her. You would do the same.’
Half an hour later, Loki could hear protesting and scuffling coming down the corridor towards his office. Then the door opened and in came Kenneth, Samuel and Chloe. Chloe was being held firmly by Samuel, as she was not coming quietly or easily.
Samuel pushed her into the room and then he stood by the door, to make sure she wouldn’t be able to try and make an escape.
Loki grinned and stood up, he walked towards her and stopped a few feet away.
Chloe’s fight and confidence ran away from her. Loki was just as dangerous looking as she’d heard. But then she realised, that she was sure she had seen him before. Though she couldn’t quite think of where.
As she had only seen him in passing at the party. He had been surrounded by his men, keeping to themselves. But he had certainly kept his eye on her.
She looked around the room. Surrounded by dangerous suited men, aside from her father who just looked pathetic. She was so angry at him for doing this. For getting into this situation in the first place. The other man that was with Loki was big and burly like Samuel, she knew instantly they wouldn’t be able to be messed with.
‘How delightful to meet you, Chloe.’ Loki said as he moved in on her. His voice was just as dangerous as his looks.
Ethan could see why Loki had taken such an interest in her. She held a natural beauty. Her hair was wonderfully smooth looking and framed her face nicely. She had a nice rosy glow to her cheeks.
Loki stepped into her personal space and with a long finger under her chin he tilted her head up so she had to make eye contact with him. He studied her closely with a sly smile on his lips.
Chloe did her best to keep glaring up at him, but she was so scared she was shaking. Unable to control her body’s natural reaction to the terrifying situation.
‘Do you know why you are here?’ Loki asked, not dropping eye contact at all.
Chloe’s nose scrunched up angrily, her eyes flitted briefly over towards Kenneth then back to Loki.
‘That’s right, clever girl. Your father owes me a lot of money. But he hasn’t managed to pay me back in time, so he decided to give you to me instead. Which I must say, is rather a delight for me.’ Loki purred and moved his hand down, lightly touching the side of her breast.
Chloe saw red and smacked his hand away. Which was the wrong thing to do.
Loki grabbed her wrist and twisted her arm behind her back, he moved in behind her and with his other hand he grabbed her cheeks tightly and forced her to look over towards her dad. Who had made a move when he saw his daughter getting manhandled by Loki, but Ethan rushed over and grabbed him.
‘This is the man you should be angry at, pet. Not me. He is the one who has sold you.’ Loki snarled into her ear.
‘I’m sorry.’ Kenneth sobbed, looking at Chloe with so much remorse and guilt.
‘Get him out of here.’ Loki demanded, releasing Chloe’s cheeks, but he kept a grip of her wrist even as she struggled to try and get away from him.
Chloe felt so much hate towards her dad. She scowled at him as he was dragged out of the office by Ethan, with Samuel simply stepping to the side to let them past.
When her dad disappeared, the realisation of the situation started to really hit Chloe again. She stopped struggling in Loki’s grasp and tried to concentrate on keeping calm as the panic started to rise up inside of her.
Loki turned her to face him. ‘And you, my pretty little pet. Are going to have to learn to behave, or life will be much harder for you.’ He growled, looking her up and down once more.
He then looked over at Samuel. ‘Take her home. I will be along promptly. Put her in the room next to mine.’
‘Sure thing, boss.’ Samuel nodded at Loki and then looked at Chloe expectantly.
Before letting her go, Loki grabbed her by the cheeks again and forced her to look at him. ‘Don’t make things difficult for yourself or for Samuel. Because I will hear about it. And there will be consequences.’

Ok, I was gonna ask you about something else, but after reading the part 2 of the Mic and the exchanged student, I'm in DIRE need to see the part 3 where she has to start her hero career and she, obviously, need his help(not because she is not capable of starting it by herself but because she just needs him to continue to be by her side like it always has been)! Pretty please! Thank you! 💗
A/N: SKSKSK hOw cOUlD i sAy nO to tHat prEtTy PwEasE uwu. Haha yeah totally i’ll do this. Sorry if this comes out a bit late i’m working on some things. Thanks for requesting <333 Any requests let me know!
-So you know that bonus thingy i did in the last one? Where the parents were mean and all that? Well let's continue with that story line, I feel like that’s a bit more interesting for this!
-So i feel like after everything went down, realistically your parents would have forced you to come home and not contact Hizashi. Which sucks because he was the only one that really believed in you, And Japan became like a second home, even though your japanese isn’t the best and you may not look like everyone, you grew to love it and appreciate it. The thought of going back home to your parents stormed in your stomach
-Hizashi hated the idea too, he felt like your parents were mentally abusive and he really hated the idea of you going back. He talked to you and wanted to know if you wanted to get others involved and what not so you didn’t have to go back and leave the school. But you didn’t want to go through that whole process
-Besides you were “almost an adult” and soon able to start your hero career. You somehow convinced him to let it go and have faith you’ll be okay.
-”Alright Y/N, If you ever want it, you can always have a job under me and my agency. Even if you don’t wanna be a hero, you can work on my radio show.”
-Damn leaving Present was like the hardest thing. He was like a positive father figure that you always wanted and finally got, then when everything was good it got ripped away. It hurt so badly.
-Plus present took it so hard because he felt it was his fault, ‘Why did i have to say something?’ ‘It’s all my fault’
-Going back to your home country was like heck? Your parents forced you to stop with all this “hero mess” and made you go on a “more stable” path. They took away all your devices and stuff so you can “focus” but in reality they wanted to make sure you weren’t contacting Present or looking into hero stuff.
-Damn You’re really wishing you took Present up on that offer and let him help you stay
-You couldn’t work on your quirk or train so while everyone was asleep you’d do exercises and warmups Present taught you
-In those few years you were so miserable, and all you wanted to do was go back to japan and go on the path you always wanted to. You missed Hizashi and the friends you had made, Here you were lonely and tired, but there you had so much life and happiness.
-So secretly you were saving money so as soon as you get a chance, you can get away. So occasionally you’s ask for 20 or so dollars to get “books” or “go to the mall” when in reality you were just storing the money away in your secret trust fund lol.
-By the time of graduation you had enough money saved up to go travel, thanks to the extra help of graduation money from family members of course.
-As soon as you got home you brought a ticket, reserved a hotel and packed all you bags and left to the airport by the early morning. Whew you felt as if you were running from the Feds and for some reason that gave you a rush of excitement you hadn’t felt in a long time.
-finally you get to see Hizashi after all this time
-When you got to Japan, you went to the first place you could think of. Present’s agency. You couldn’t quite think of where else to get to him, so this was your first resort.
-Upon arriving you were so nervous. What if Hizashi didn’t even work there anymore?? What if he didn’t want to help? After all you kinda of cut him off even though you promised to keep him posted every once in a while. Although that wasn’t your fault but maybe he hated you for it?
-Either way it was too late now and you were already at the front desk, standing awkwardly standing
-“Hello dear, is there anything I can help you with?”
-“u-Ugh wEll uHhh???”
-“....“
-“....”
-“Do you have an appointment...or….”
-“nO...yeS? Haha i'm sorry, I'm looking for Hizashi Yamada. I’m an old friend and he told me to come here if I ever needed him..?”
-“...right...Your name?”
-“Y/L L/N.”
-“I don’t see you name under any notes or messages for him. By safety protocol I cannot let you up past this floor without a proper appointment or verification.”
-“Well is there anyway that I can leave him a note..with my contact and such? Or a way to set an appointment?”
-“Yes I can leave a note but I cannot guarantee he will see it and you can only make an appointment if you’re an endorser.”
-“Ah I see, Well I guess I’ll just leave a note then? Here is my name and number and can you just tell him I’m back in Japan. I need to talk to him.”
-“of course.” The lady at the front desk smiled as she finished writing the small note and moving it aside with the others
-You began to make your was towards the exit only to be stopped dead in your tracks when you heard an all too familiar voice boom through out the lobby
-“YEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH WHATS UP OFFICE LAAAAADDYYYYY! ANY NEW MAIL FOR ME??? HMM HMM????”
-Turning around, your eyes met the sunflower blonde male that leaned against the counter with a Gigantic smile across his face.
-suddenly a similar smile he wore, slapped across your face as you unconsciously shouted
-“H-hizashi?!”
-instantly his eyes landed upon you, yet his award winning smile vanished and turned into a tired expression
-ugh another crazed fan waiting at the front desk for him.
-except you weren’t, you were his most favorite person on the planet. However you looked so different. And he could hardly recognize you.
-For a moment he just stared at you with the utter most bleak face, until it hit him.
-“America?”
-“Mr. Hizashi!”
-HE IS SOOOO HAPPY SKSKSKSKSKS LIKE BRO HE THOUGHT HE WOULD NEVER SEE YOU AGAIN.
-HE SMILES SO WIDE AND LITERALLY JUMP HUGS YOU
-“MRSSSS. AMERIIICAAAA.”
-he has a moment where he pulls apart and just gazes at you
-i-is that tears in his eyes??
-awww so soft
-sMotheRs yOu In kIssEs (friendly forehead ones lmao)
-He’s just so happy to see you looking healthy and safe. He loves you so much, even if it’s been years.
-“I thought something bad happened to you, I tried emailing and contacting you but no response. Oh I’m so happy I get to see you again! Are you okay? Are you hungry?? Wait let’s go talk at a restaurant.”
-So you guys go to a restaurant and talk and reconcile about the past. Apologized for not responding and talking so long to come back.
-“No worries I’m just glad your here now! How has hero work been? Signed with any major companies.”
-“Haha um actually no not yet.”
-“WHAAAAT?! What are you waiting for?? I’m sure by now your quirk skills and everything has gotten waaay better now with all the training you’ve probably had there. I’m sure you’ll get signed just like that.”
-“Actually Hizashi. The last time I actually trained or really used my quirk was the last time we trained together.”
-He literally thought you were joking. No that’s not possible that was years ago.
-“No I’m serious, my parents wouldn’t let me do hero work after all that went down and they limited the use of my quirk. These past years I’ve been studying to be a pharmacist because my parents says it’s a more realistic job for someone like me and hero work is nonsense.”
-What no? They couldn’t of held a grudge that long? No you were on such a good path to become a hero. He was sure of it. The world really needed someone to step up, with the rise of crime and he knew you could do it. So for your parents to say “nonsense” was so unbelievably stupid.
-“What?” that was all he could muster hearing your news
-“yep! And I couldn’t respond to you because my parents took away all my devices, and gave me ones that were restricted and only for school research purposes. Everything about heroes or quirks that wasn’t related to Pharmaceutical Purposes wasn’t allowed. I actually saved up cash for years and gathered up the money I got from graduation to buy a ticket and a small apartment here. Although I’m sure my parents will be hot when they noticed I left the country, but at least I’ll be thousands of miles away and safe from their antics right? Haha.”
-He was so shocked. He didn’t think him telling off your parents and protecting your from them while you were in Japan, would cause them to go to such extremes. What kind of people?
-“Y-yeah. But don’t worry I’m alive aren’t I!” You laughed out
-He smiles at your attempt of optimism and nodded in agreement
- “Do you still want to become a hero?” He asked twirling his spoon around in the soup he earlier ordered
-“W-Well yes. Actually I do a lot, this world is becoming more cruel and I really hate sitting back and seeing these innocent people who can’t fight back get hurt everyday. But I know it’s hard but It’s something I really still want to do.”
-“Okay then, Y/N I’ll train you and help you become a hero. In the moring I’ll start paper works and a letter to get you into my company under me. I’ll make sure you become the hero you always wanted to be...that I always knew you could be.”
-“Wait are you serious.”
-“Only if you are. We’ll train in the early mournings and I’ll take you with me on patrol at night so you can get a feel of what it’s like. I’ll guide you Y/N and do better than I did before. I owe it to you.”
-And after that, that’s exactly what happened
-you guys were out on a morning run by 5 and working out at the gym around noon. Around 11 at night you guys were on patrol until 3 am. And this went on for months
-He pushes you harder than you possibly knew your body could be pushed
-You your quirk became much stronger and stable.
-teaches you different techniques and gives you pointers on where to go out on patrol and how to look for suspicious behaviors
-you’re under his company and training for about a year or so before you break off and go on your own. He makes sure you’re fully confident and he knows that you’re at a good spot beforehand though.
-You actually get signed under a big company and recruited for a few others all over.
-Before you left his wing, you made sure you thanked him for everything and that he was totally fine with it
-which he was
-He’s still always beside you though. You knew in your heart you still needed his guidance and his friendship in your life, and same for him. He really adores you and doesn’t want to just say goodbye. It hurt so bad the first time, he couldn’t imagine how it would feel departing again.
- He checks up on you everyday and make sure to go out to lunch every one in awhile.
-When you’re kind of lost or stuck or need a shoulder to cry on, he’s always right there.
-“Hizashi...I don’t know. Maybe my parents were right and I’m really not cut out for this. It’s so hard and I’m so tired. I just really want to cry.”
-“Hey shh, don’t worry you’re doing great. It just gets hard sometimes but trust me it’ll get better. I’m right here for you.”
-If you parents did come back to Japan and came to harass you or what not, Hizashi is instantly there protecting you and makes sure they won’t ever do that again. You are not going back to the U.S. with them, even if he has to get the legals involved he would.
-Send little gifts to him every so often as a thank you.
-You stay in Japan for the first couple years of your hero career but then branch out a bit to different countries
-collecting Souvenirs and postcards to send back to hIzAsHI
-When you become super successful he’s like “See Y/N, what did I tell you? You’re going to be fucking great.”

Caught in his web, Chapter 1 Trigger warning - Rape/Non-Con and Kidnapping
TITLE: Caught in his web CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 1 AUTHOR: fanficshiddles ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine Loki is a crime lord, a very dangerous man in the city. He is owed money, but the man is unable to pay Loki back, so Loki takes his daughter as payment instead.  RATING: M
WARNING: In this fic there will be Rape/non-con, kidnapping, some body-shaming, violence and murder (not the oc).

The Sugar to My Everything ~ ATEEZ Yeosang
Tumblr media
summary: when your boyfriend Yeosang is stressed and worried about his studies, you know exactly how to make his day better. but a visit to the new bakery in town leads to confessions and realizations...
words: 2.1K.
note: a fluffy fic for a fluffy boy! if u didn’t know already, Yeosang has a huge sweet tooth😊 and i got a huge writer’s block in the middle of writing this fic. it was supposed to be done two weeks ago but things didn’t work out as planned lool! as always, lemme know what you thought about it, as well as any feedback! enjoy!! 💕💕💕
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
You sit at a table for two, drinking milk tea through a straw, eyes on the twin closed doors to your right.
You had finished class for the day and were waiting for Yeosang to come out of his last class of the day. It's almost 5, he should be finishing his class any time now. Right as the thought crossed your mind, the doors open and a flood of students rush out chattering amongst themselves.
"Ok, but he literally taught the entire concept in 10 minutes and literally did one practice question on the board? And then makes 3 of the 10 questions on that concept? He's out to fail us!!"
Your ears perk up at the words you overhear from the students streaming past your table.
"That test was brutal, how did you do?" you hear.
"Of course I found it hard, I started studying 10 minutes before class!"
You sigh to yourself. Sometimes you had no idea why Yeosang was so passionate about his program of study. As one of the most difficult programs in the entire country and one of the highest failure rates of any program, it was renowned for it's difficult courses. The majority of its students sported permanent eye bags, could always be found with caffeine in their systems, and got less than 4 hours of good sleep a night. And Yeosang, one of the absolutely brightest people you know, was no exception - it was going to be a few long, taxing, and strenuous years till graduation for him.
In the corner of your eye you see a familiar black jacket make its way towards you. Without looking at his face you could already tell what his expression was like, eyebrows knitted together, lips unconsciously turned downward in a pout.
As Yeosang plops down in the chair in front of you with his own sigh, he snags your bubble tea. "I'm desperately in need of sweets right now," he responds when you shoot him a victimized look.
"Was it really that bad?" you ask, already knowing the answer.
"UhmHmmm, " was his only response as he closed his eyes in contentment, downing gulps of it down.
"I swear sugar runs in your veins."
"No wonder I'm so sweet then!" Yeosang gives you as devilish of a smile as a boy like him can pull off and returns your bubble tea while chewing on a tapioca pearl.
You roll your eyes as you spin the tapioca pearls sitting at the bottom of the cup around with the straw. You'd known Yeosang for almost 5 years now. At first you'd just known him as the quiet, shy boy in your grade with a pretty face that all the girls secretly crushed on. Then you got to know him better and he'd opened up to you. You learned he was not just a pretty face but incredibly intelligent, kind, and surprisingly sassy at times. And of course, yes, you learned about his sweet tooth. And as you got to know him better even better and became his girlfriend, your relationship went from knowing that he had a sweet tooth to taking part in his insatiable quest for sweets. In fact, it had become a tradition to go on a date at a bakery, sweets shop, or cafe exactly once a week. He'd named it "Yeosang's Long Journey" and had described it as crossing off as many X's (aka shops) that he could on his map and pinpointing the treasure (aka the yummy things). Last week's date had been at a frequently visited local bakery, where Yeosang ate a triple chocolate cake and you had gotten a strawberry tart.
Yeosang sighs, leaning forward with head in his hands. "That test really was bad. I had absolutely no idea what I was writing for half of the questions, " another sigh. "I really should've prepared more than I did. If I had spent more time studying I'd have done better. Y/N, If I don't do good on the next one, how am I going to pass this course?"
You watch as he rubs his eyes and gives another long sigh. You knew he was stressed and tired. Finals were coming up real soon and the pressure and stress kept building. The days of all nighters, staring at highlighted notes, cramming, and memorizing had already started and was taking a physical and mental toll on all the students, perhaps more so for Yeosang than others. Yeosang held himself to high expectations and when they weren't met he'd start to get anxious and stressed. He'd pull away from you more and more and isolate himself to his room to study every waking minute. Although you knew that he needed to study, you also knew that a break from all the school work was just as important.
"Yeosang you did the best that you could with the time given. I know you can pass the course Yeosang, and the term's almost over! And you've told me that others in your class are also finding it difficult and haven't been doing great either. That means it's not your fault, you've given it your all, the course is just meant to be super hard or you have a sucky professor!"
Yeosang looks you in the eye and finally smiles a bit.
"Ok...So I know we already did Yeosang's Long Journey for this week but I'll make an exception. Just for this week though! Let's go get some sweets in your system." you say.
He looks at you with wide eyes. "Are you being serious? Can we really go today?"
"There's a new cafe that just opened a few days ago." you tell him picking up your phone and googling its name, "How does it look?" you show him your phone with the bakery's website pulled up.
"Absolutely delicious?!" he replies scrolling through the images with his index finger. He looks back up at you with a brilliant smile. "Let's go already!"
-----
You watch as Yeosang's eyes scan the rows of deserts, his back hunched over to see through the glass display cases. His fingers leave fingerprints on the spotless glass as he points to different pastries, nose almost touching the glass, trying to pick one.
"How does that one look?" he asks tilting his head towards you with the brightest smile on his face. He looks like a golden retriever with his round sparkling eyes directed towards you, eager to get a treat, a hundred times happier now that his mind was off his studies.
He's pointing at what appears to be a chocolate brownie topped with whipped cream and edible sparkles. Protruding out of the whipped cream were bunny ears made out of candy with black icing drawing out the eyes, nose, and mouth.
You bend down and lean in next to him. "It's too cute to eat!" you tell him, pouting.
He looks back at the bunny brownie and scans it again. "You're right."
Today you had let him choose your desert too and he'd chosen a fluffy cheesecake decorated with fruits and jam for you. For the last five minutes he had been trying to choose his own dessert, eyeing everything with a hint of chocolate in it and asking for your opinions.
He moves down the glass display, critiquing the deserts he just looked at a minute ago.
The cafe barista behind the counter turns to you and asks, "Your boyfriend?"
You smile and nod at her.
She cups her hand around her mouth and half whispers, "He's adorable!"
You laugh out loud and walk towards her and the cash machine where the cheesecake Yeosang had picked out for you sat. "Yes, adorable he is!"
A minute later Yeosang pops back by your side and tells the barista, "We'll take the cheesecake and that bunny brownie over there. Oh! And a black coffee and a green tea latte please."
When the barista hands over the plate with the bunny brownie, Yeosang lifts it up to eye level and close enough to almost go cross-eyes. "Agh It's too cute Y/N!"
"I told you so! And you still ended up choosing it!" you scold him while walking to an empty table, sitting down with your cheesecake in hand.
Yeosang sets the plate down and sits down too and plucks out one of the bunny's ears from the whipped cream topping.
"No! Why'd you do that?!?? Put it back!!" You yell and lunge, grabbing his hand before he can devour the bunny ear and guide it to stick it back into the whipped cream. "I gotta take pics!" you say whipping out your phone.
Yeosang chuckles and innocently apologizes with a ,"Ah I forgot," and obediently waits as you take your pictures.
Yeosang's bunny brownie is gone in six bites (you'd stolen a bite of it too), right on time for your drinks to arrive, while your cheesecake sat abandoned. You weren't the biggest fan of chocolate, at the very least your love for chocolate couldn't compare to Yesoang's love for chocolate, but really, what could? But, you had to acknowledge that this cafe made absolutely mouth watering chocolate brownies that happened to be cute too. Rich in flavor, not too sweet, and with the chocolate taste topped with sweet and fluffy whipped cream, it was heaven to your taste buds and you knew Yeosang felt the same.
Yeosang chuckles and picks up a napkin. "Come here. You've got brownie crumbs on your face". He gently takes your chin in his hand and even more gently brushes the crumbs away.
"Hmm I could say the same for you. You've got whipped cream and sparkles everywhere." You reach up with another napkin and wipe the whipped cream from the corners of his mouth. The sparkles... well there was no easy way to get rid of those, and well, they looked good on him.
When you're done Yeosang immediately picks up his fork and starts eating away at your cheesecake making sure to help himself to the fruits and jam.
"Mmmmm!" he looks at you with wide eyes, spoon still in his mouth when he eats the first bite.
You giggle at his expression. "Which one was better, your bunny or the cheesecake?"
He thinks about it carefully, smiling around another spoonful of cheesecake. "The bunny brownie! It gets extra points for looking cute!"
His smile suddenly disappears and he suddenly looks down, wanting to say something, and gently places his fork down.
He looks a little nervous, a little embarrassed, but completely sincere with what he wanted to say as he clasped his hands in font of him together in front of him.
He takes a deep and long breath in and puffs it out.
"Thank you" he says.
And hearing those words, you knew without further explanation what he meant, what he was trying to say. In that one Thank You, you heard him say Thank You for always being there to comfort me, Thank You for always knowing how to cheer me up, Thank You for choosing to stay by my side, Thank You for helping me through difficult times in my life, Thank You for being such a kind and amazing person, Thank you for being the love of my life.
You may have heard Thank You from his mouth but his eyes, his eyes said I Love You and that one Thank You was a thousand times stronger than any of the I Love You's he'd given before.
And it hit you then, hit you stronger than it ever had before. This boy, No, this man sitting in front of you with his pure heart and beautiful soul laid bare for you. You loved him. You loved him so much that it hurt. It hurt to not be around him. And you realized Kang Yeosang. Yeosang was the one person you wanted to spend your entire life with. You wanted to be around him every second of the day, every second of the night. You would never let him go.
So you reach out and take his hand in your own, holding it as if holding something too good for words to describe. And you look at this wonderful human in front of you, sweeter than any chocolate, your one in a billion, and say back to him, "Thank you".
He smiles and interlaces your fingers together, giving you a nod. Because he knows, he too knows without any more words said what you mean: Thank You for being with me, Thank You for pulling me into your life, Thank You for being the highlight of my day, Thank You for being the first thing I think of every morning and last ever night, Thank You for having the most beautiful smile in existence, Thank You for loving me as I am... Thank You for being
... you.
