why do people think korra is a bad avatar?

i just finished season 2 of lok and damn that girl was put through the wringer to say the least and i'm only halfway through the damn show, she was the only avatar other than wan afaik who had to deal with something as life-or-death stakes as harmonic convergence (literally THE BATTLE BETWEEN THE CONCEPTS OF GOOD AND EVIL) and then the fandom has the gall to say 'oh but it's her fault this happened if only she was more spiritual and less headstrong' like... no way it was her personal fault that any of that happened. if anything the whole series was dealing with like the spiritual imbalance of the water tribe as a nation (as manifested in individuals such as unalaq, amon/noatak) and how that affected the whole world, it's like the flipside of atla in a sense. and i guess in anticipation of the next two seasons we will see that imbalance manifest in the earth kingdom...

also korra learned true humility and how to work with others/to give up her sense of identity as the avatar for what was right i.e. for the spirits and humans to live together side by side and figure out their own balance. i think she was wise beyond her years to say that 'wan was wrong and the avatar should not be the only one to bring balance to the world' like... i was touched omg

It’s just that Fingon’s like that stereotypical son who calls his mum and walks old ladies across the street, mows the lawn for his neighbours, brings home nice, pretty girls who want to be kindergarten teachers or something and is really passionate about some niche compassionate topic like children in poverty’s access to multiple sclerosis treatment and who everyone says is ‘such a nice boy’ but then he goes and dates the eldest kid of Mr. Stay Away From My Boys, Son, a flaming ginger who most people haven’t heard speak. Like they don't need each other to survive - the 4 years apart made it clear, but. They both seem so much more alive and genuine next to each other aughhh

Tho there r times when they REALLY need each other to survive, not metaphorically or anything. Chuuya needs Dazai durning Corruption and Dazai needs Chuuya when uh. Making these stupid plans where he plays a princess who needs a prince on a white horse to save him. Be it Dead Apple or even the Dragon's Head Conflict.

And it makes me go so aughhh bc none of them have to use these tactics that put their lives in the hands of the other, but they still do and aughhh the trust they have for each other makes me throw up
