if I were a guard or minion or whatever and I saw the intruder just murder everyone within a 15 foot radius in like a minute…I would unload/sheath my weapon, throw it and just drop to the floor with my hands over my head
I would set the world record for quickest surrender
like, oh your one of the most deadly hitman? Yeah your target is down the hall buddy! Please don’t shoot me *smiling cheerfully * oh your an assassin who has a kill count in the thousands? here’s the time and place my client will be tonight! Please don’t snap my neck *friendly wave*
oh your an disgustingly powerful being with powers/abilities? My boss is in the middle of their victory speech in the banquet hall, that’s down the stairs and a left at the statue of ‘em! Please give me time to leave before you blow up the place *happy chuckle*
It’s just a big I-don’t-get-paid-enough-for-this-shit combined with a Im-not-qualified-enough-for-this nope. Nope s all around

society has ingrained in all of us that bugs are bad and evil and scary and they Bite You for no reason and Sting You For Fun and I would like to challenge every single person that reads this to try to step back and challenge those thoughts. CHALLENGE that knee-jerk reaction to kill every bug you see. REALIZE that killing it doesn't have to be the answer. it's fine to not want bugs in your home. but I see so many people whose FIRST choice is to kill it, even though it'd be easy to just cup it and toss it outside. why?
one of the greatest things that got me over my extremely intense arachnophobia was knowledge. learning more about the thing I was afraid of made me realize, "oh, they're just little guys trying to get by too" and I stopped killing every spider I saw.
and it's like. no, that wasp didn't sting you for fun. it stung you because it felt scared or defensive. no, the spider in your shower isn't trying to kill you. spiders need water to live too.
you don't deem a scared dog/cat evil for biting you, do you? then why are we demonizing insects and spiders for feeling scared? they are so, so small and we are so large. they don't know anything about us, they're just trying to live life. they didn't know they built their web in a bad spot. they didn't know they built their nest next to your door. please, show some kindness to these tiny creatures. I understand you can't let infestations happen or wasps build in your walls, but whenever possible, try to put bugs in a cup and take them outside. yes, even wasps. even black widows. if you want tips for safely capturing bugs, I'm always around to ask.
also, to those who say things like, "x bug eats other pest bug, so they're okay" why? why does something have to benefit you to deserve to live? shouldn't all creatures have a chance at life, even if they're ugly, even if they don't benefit you, even if they do something you don't like? what gives you the right to decide to take the life of any animal just because ahhh it looked scary? please. all I ask is you try to be kinder. it's okay to be scared, it's not okay to pointlessly kill things.

Hi, could you write something with Wanda and reader, both of them being werewolf. Yn doesn't trust the avengers too much but Wanda does, so they joined them.
Wanda is the same person when she transformed but Yn doesn't. Yn is quieter but wanted to play a lot and trust them when they transformed and very protective, always around Nat and Wanda, Thor, Yelena and Kate. They liked when she is a werewolf because she doesn't care too much about anything. She bites a bit, but always playfully and gives them something to play.
Playful
Tumblr media
Y/N: 22 years old Wanda: 22 years old ——————————————————
NO ONE'S POV "Wands, I don't know" Y/N sighs, flopping down on the couch next to her girlfriend.
Wanda and Y/N have known each other since childhood. The two have been through everything together… Y/N's parents death, Wanda's parents death, then Pietro's death and even their first ever transformation into wolves.
Yes, Wanda and Y/N are werewolves. The girls were scared at first and had no idea what to do. After all, they were only 16 when it happened for the first time.
They learned how to control it over the years though and now their favorite thing to do is running around the forest in the middle of the night.
"I know it's scary. We've always had only each other and I really enjoy being only with you… But having some friends can't harm us. And we can help to save other people" Wanda says, holding her girlfriend's hands and hoping Y/N would agree. "We can always leave if we won't like it"
"… Fine" Y/N sighs, giving in. "But if we don't like it, promise me we'll just leave and live together in a little house in the forest like we've always wanted" Y/N says, looking Wanda in the eyes.
"I promise" Wanda smiles and leans in to peck her girlfriend's lips with a kiss. "Thank you"
———————————
And that's how the two ended up joining the Avengers. Y/N still isn't exactly happy about it, but Wanda is. And when Wanda's happy, Y/N feels happy too.
Y/N found her small group in the Avengers where she feels comfortable. Of course Wanda takes number one place, she's her loving girlfriend and Y/N loves her more than anything.
Then there are Yelena and Kate. Both absolutely love playing around with Y/N when she's in her wolf form. Plus the three are really good friends and somehow always get in some kind of trouble which drives Wanda and Natasha crazy.
That brings us to Natasha who would be another person Y/N feels comfortable with. The redhead still has nightmares from the Red Room and Y/N helps her with it just by being with her. The Black Widow seems tough, but there's nothing she loves more than when Y/N's in her wolf form, resting her head on the assassin's lap while she's running her fingers through the wolf's soft fur.
This group wouldn't be complete without Thor. He never resists the cute puppy eyes Y/N gives him and always shares some of his food with the wolf underneath the table. Wanda's always quite annoyed by it, but she knows damn well that she can't resists Y/N's cute puppy eyes either.
"Wandaaa, I'm booored. Come play with meee" Y/N whines, pulling her girlfriend out of their bed. She's been feeling super playful today, but Wanda's in the exact opposite mood.
"Y/N, I'm tired. You kept me up until like 4 am. I want to sleep" Wanda sighs. The girls spent the night in the forest again and went to bed really late.
Y/N groans, leaving the room and transforming into her wolf form. She feels more comfortable like that whenever she's upset.
The upset wolf makes her way over to Natasha who's currently filling up some mission reports in the living room.
Y/N walks over to the couch Natasha's sitting on, putting her head on the redhead's lap.
"Hi there, Y/N/N" Natasha smiles, running her fingers through Y/N fluffy fur. "What got you so upset?" She pouts, looking at how quiet her wolf friend currently is.
Y/N runs for the ball that she spotted in the living room before running back and placing it on the ground, nudging Natasha's leg with her head.
"Oh. You want to play" Natasha chuckles, Y/N waving her tail in response. Natasha picks up her phone, leaving Yelena a quick text. Natasha loves playing around with Y/N, but she really has a lot of mission reports to fill up. Knowing her sister, Yelena doesn't care about some papers, so she'll definitely have time to take Y/N on the garden.
"Y/N/N, come here! I heard someone wants to play!" Yelena calls from the door frame, squishing Y/N's favorite toy on which Y/N immediately runs up to the blonde, happy that someone will play with her.
Yelena takes Y/N out on the garden and runs around with her, throwing her branches they found on the garden and just playing. The pair is soon joined by Kate who saw them from the window and decided to join her two friends.
About two hours later, the three girls are laying on the grass, Y/N back in her human form and they just laugh about some silly things that come into their minds.
"I don't know how about you, but I'm pretty hungry and something's telling me Thor's just making himself some snack, so I'll go to check that up" Y/N says, standing up, Kate and Yelena following.
They walk back to the kitchen and as Y/N thought, Thor's sitting at a table, eating his big snack. She sneaks behind him, stealing one of his pop tarts and running away, ignoring Thor's calls. She knows he'd end up giving her some anyway as they're really good friends.
"Oh. Wow. Slow down" Wanda chuckles, spotting her girlfriend running towards her.
"Oh. Hi, Wands. Did you have a nice nap?" Y/N asks with a smile, hiding her pop tart behind her back.
"Yeah. What do you have there?" Wanda asks with a raised eyebrow, trying to look behind her girlfriend's back.
"Nothing" Y/N responds, moving around, so Wanda couldn't see anything.
"If it's nothing then why don't you just show me? Are you afraid you'd have to share food with me?" Wanda asks teasingly, raising her eyebrow again.
"Hm. No?"
"Yeah. Sure" Wanda smirks, slowly walking behind Y/N which makes the girl think she's free of this conversation.
Y/N isn't the only one in a playful mood now though. Wanda sneaks behind, ripping the pop tart out of Y/N's hand and running away. "Thanks, babe!"
"Hey! Get back here! That was mine!"

Ok you did rocky and nico but what about Mordecai with widow reader with three kittens? (bonus if you include aunty Serafine and uncle nico)ps I love your writing!
This one is a bit different from the other widow-with-kiddo asks but I hope its still to ur liking ~
Firstly! Regardless if you're working the Marigold Room as a bartender or musician, or you're in the gang directly, the kittens are often at the hotel. The staff knows them, the managers don't mind because they stay away from guests, other gang members are familiar with them and make sure they stay outta trouble. The hotel's back rooms and staff quarters are like an endless maze to the kiddos, and they know the whole place like the back of their hands. ... Kinda.
Not to mention how they're doted on by everyone - Asa gives them candies, Nico tosses them high in the air, Serafine is kind of scary but she gave them these funny bracelets (made of bones??? but theyre funny and she's pretty so it's okay!), various hotel staff cooing over how cute and well-behaved they are.
And then there's Mordecai. He's pretty scary to adults, let alone kids. When he sees them skittering around in the peripheral of his vision, he has to frown even more. Who let these wayward children in here? He hears them running about the halls and empty offices while he's trying to do accounting. And as much as Mordecai wants nothing to do with them, he's a figure of great interest to your kittens. Someone who isn't cooing over them? Whose in an office way in the back, only one light on? The one who follows Mr. Sweet and dresses in all black? Their little imaginations run wild, even if you've plainly told them that "Mr. Heller" is your colleague and to leave him be.
The oldest one approaches him first. Which is to say, she lingers behind the doorway, peeking in and thinking he can't see her tail and ears sticking out. He hears the younger ones shushing each other. As much as Mordecai wants to be annoyed, instead, a painful deja vu comes over him. Your oldest finally patters in with a nervous "Mr. Heller?". Before he can ask what she wants, she plops a candy on his desk and runs off, the other kittens right behind her.
As much as the shadowy cat doesn't want the trio bothering him, he's torn about them being so fearful of him. All three of them stir up painful familiar memories of his sisters, but the youngest especially reminds Mordecai of Rose. He tries not to think of how old she and Eshter are now, if they miss him the way your kittens miss you when you're away. It's hard for him to keep up his cold exterior when those painful memories bubble up to the surface.
So when the oldest comes by his desk, he finally sighs and says with a frown, "All three of you, just come in and show me what it is." And the other two shuffle in, with their big eyes and hand-me-down clothes and it's just. Very difficult not to dismiss them.
The two youngest have decided he's their "secret friend", even if you were well aware of how they liked to pester your overly serious colleague. You'll watch your girls draw him alongside other people they know (why does he always look so shadowy and sketchy, even in crayon form?) but you don't know they like sneaking their drawings into his satchel or desk drawers. They'll leave wrapped candies and pretty strings and buttons too, to his exasperation. Eventually Mordecai walks over to you and drops a handful of the little treasures at your table.
"Gee, Mordecai, I'm flattered. You know what a guy/gal likes."
"Don't be ridiculous, I'm returning what your snooping progeny keep leaving me. Tell them to stay out of my things."
"Looks to me like they're trying to add some color to that depressing office you hole up in."
And so on, and so forth, you two really like to bicker, don't you?
(Oh, and Mordecai starts keeping the door shut and locking it, but then he hears giggles and sees them shoving the pictures and little things under the doorway.)
Now they aren't afraid of him at all, which means they want to run about Mordecai and get his attention. They'll giggle as they dart between his legs or "hide" under his coat. Their fur gets all over his black clothes. When they inevitably tumble and fall, he picks them up by the collar or under the arms and scolds them for running indoors. And he yanks them down when they get too rowdy and climb up furniture, or sometimes he finds the youngest one crying because she got lost and takes her back. If he catches any of the kittens with an unlaced boot or messy face, he stops them immediately.
"Stop! Lace up your boots immediately. You'll trip and crack your skull open. Don't run in the hotel lobby, either. This is an establishment, not a wild jungle you can traipse about in - keep still, what is on your face? Is that - syrup? Did you not think to wash your hands and face after - no, there will be no giggling about breaches of hygiene -"
(A few people are staring as Mordecai fusses over her, which he doesn't notice until a woman walks by and says, "oh, it's so hard at this age, isn't it? Don't worry, you're doing great." And he dies a little a lot inside).
He tried doing these things in secret, but inevitably one of the Savoys or Asa or you would spot him, and the youngest one loves prattling on about him. Asa, Nico and Serafine find "Nanny Heller" to be hysterical. He's going to throttle someone or plan a murder swear to god-
There's been several moments when you hear a high-pitched squeal that sounds like a scream, and you run over in a panic ... and oh, it's just Nico dangling one of the kittens upside down and pretending to lose his grip. False alarm - wait, why is Mordecai here too?
If you're a triggerman with the gang, it means you're keeping all sorts of odd hours. You've been with them for years and you're more than useful, so having the children set up in an empty office isn't looked twice at. They've got their bedding, some books and toys, and ... sometimes they're sleeping there more than they sleep at home, which you aren't proud of. It's not just the cost of childcare, but the odd hours and questions being asked about your job, especially if you're a woman.
The first time Mordecai came across this office was by accident, but he knew the children had to be staying somewhere. He walked up very quietly, and looking through the open doorway, saw the oldest doing her homework at the big desk while her two siblings slept under it, curled up with their pillows and blankets and stuffed toys. He didn't think he'd be affected so strongly, but it was painful. A very, very painful reminder, and maybe he saw himself a little too much in that girl, furrowing her brow and making sense of numbers.
You and Mordecai have had strange arguments about the the children, which was odd at first. You wondered why the so-called unfeeling triggerman cared at all. If he felt you were being too reckless during a job, he'd tell you as much, but there was more bite in his voice. He never outright said 'you have others depending on you', but it was in his tone. Many times you felt judged, or looked down upon - but a lot of these fights weren't about you specifically. It was the situation that upset him, the lengths one had to go to keep their family fed and safe in a clean environment. He was definitively projecting, and not always aware of it, or just in denial about it. Mordecai tried not to dwell on his own mother and sisters: what they felt when he didn't come home one day, when they read that letter explaining where all the money was hidden, when the realization sunk in for Eshter and Rose that their brother wasn't coming back. If they were sad, or angry, or resigned, or didn't think of him at all anymore. Or maybe they'd resent him forever.
Look he really doesnt want to be thinking about these things -
After long jobs, you'd wash the blood off and change shirts and tiredly walk all the way to the back rooms where your kittens were sleeping. Sometimes you stir the oldest awake so she can help you carry the other two to the car, but honestly, the only apartment a single parent with three children can get is pretty shit. So most times you just curl up on the floor with them, catching a few hours of sleep before you need to wake up the oldest for school.
You hold her hand as you walk through the back rooms and out the staff exit. Sometimes Mordecai sees you. You wear the same tired but persevering expression as his mother did, looking a mess compared to your well-put together daughter. He knows she washed up and dressed herself, and packed her own bookbag. She has that look of responsibility and eyes that are a little too old, and it's too familiar, so he looks away.
(Sometimes the oldest finds an extra sandwich in her bookbag, or new pencils and one time, a new pair of mittens. She feels like it's magic, so she doesn't want to tell anyone, otherwise the magic will 'break'.)
You and Mordecai already have a very strange relationship (can you call each other friends yet? You'd consider him that, or something more, but his feelings are something else entirely), and your kiddos would certainly add another layer of strangeness onto it. You might actually get to know him a little faster and closer than most do, or at least see a side that most people have never seen or even considered him capable of.

Number Neighbors Pt.4
Natasha x Fem! Reader
Natasha Masterlist     Series Masterlist
Word Count: 402  (short Chapter)
Summary: When you catch sight of the newest trend going around you know you’re all but bound to at least try it, it was harmless anyway. What could possibly stem from something so little?
~
The next morning after taking a few ibuprofen and gulping down three glasses of water, you finally mustered up enough energy to open your phone and check your notifications. You saw that you were the last to send a message to Nat and instantly prayed to the Gods that you didn’t send something astronomically embarrassing.
After scrolling through the messages and concluding that nothing life alteringly bad was sent, you breathed a sigh of relief and typed out a quick message. Much to your surprise, Nat opened it instantly, but you wouldn’t get your hopes up that she was waiting for you to text, she was probably already on her phone, after all, last night she said you two were still strangers.
                     Nat🔪
Y/n🍦:
Sweet wines should be illegal
Nat🔪:
Good morning to you too
Y/n🍦:
It doesn’t even taste like you’re drinking alcohol
Ugh I’m sorry about last night
Nat🔪:
It’s all good
It was actually pretty entertaining
Y/n🍦:
For you
I can’t believe you made me check outside my window
What if I was dumb enough to open it
And then I would have left it open and let all the burglars and murderers inside
And then I would be dead, and it would be your fault and the cops would
Use our texts as evidence and you would be found and put on trial and sent to jail.
Nat🔪:
Wouldn’t be the first time
Y/n🍦:
Can FBI agents get sent to jail?
Hold on I have to google it
Nat🔪:
They can.
Y/n🍦:
They Can!
Nat🔪:
But how will they find me?
Y/n🍦:
FBI skills duh.
Fine-
I’ll get the Avengers then
Nat🔪:
Oh? You think they could find me?
Y/n🍦:
I watched them fight off a hoard of evil aliens
I think they could find one woman
Nat🔪:
You were there for that?
Y/n🍦:
What?
Nat🔪:
The battle of New York?
You were there?
Y/n🍦:
Is that what people are calling it? lol
Yeah I was at work
My car got totaled haha ;(
Nat🔪:
Wow, that must have been scary
I’m sorry
Y/n🍦:
It was but I got to meet an Avenger so that makes up for the Therapy✨
Nat🔪:
You’ve met an Avenger?
Y/n🍦:
Yeah, why? You jealous😏?
Nat🔪:
Definitely.
Which one did you meet?
….Y/n is Typing
Y/n🍦:

MCU AU (Vampire Reader X Wanda Maximoff)
Summary: When you are rescued by The Avengers you find it hard to do anything else but be lost in your thoughts.
Word Count: 2.5K
TW: Mentions of Hydra, Nightmares, Fluff
Tumblr media
Reader POV
It wasn't always like this.
I wasn't always like this.
I had a life before I was bitten. Just like I had a life after the bite. Don't get me wrong, it was worse. But Hydra kept me alive. Only after they had their fun when they knew I couldn't fight back. Over and over again.
But that was a life.
My life.
Until a group of uniform-wearing people picked me up. The Avengers was their name. Or at least that's what the guard screamed outside my cell before a stream of red mist threw him like a pebble.
She was the first person I saw when the doors opened. Wanda. Wanda Maximoff. I remember as her powers disappeared into thin air before she greeted me slowly as the others ran by to free the rest.
Knowing her now, I could've made myself look stronger back then, but I cowered myself in the corner, afraid she was just like anyone else who entered my cell.
But she persisted even after I swung at her and flew myself across the room. She came forward. Strong and confident. Although once my pointed teeth shined in the swinging light above us, I saw the switch in her eyes. It was something new. It wasn't the same old scared look I had been used to in the past.
Once again. Knowing her now, I could've explained the whole teeth situation better.
The last thing I remember happening in that cell was Wanda's green eyes looking into my black ones. Her telling me her name in an accent I couldn't place, and then, like magic, a memory I had long forgotten about was in my mind before I was out like a light.
_
According to the star-spangled man, I was the last "enhanced" Hydra had left. Switch out that word for monster, and he would've been right. But that's not what I wanted to be.
I never wanted that.
Time wore on once the Avengers found a spot for me. After tests, a meeting with a scary one-eyed man, a holding period in a newly furnished cell, and training, I was moved to the benchwarmers. At least, that's what The Black Widow calls me.
I was given a room. Bland but a place I could make my own. The room was on the same floor as Natasha and Wanda. The latter was the only one ever to try and speak to me as if I didn't have these.. what was the word speedster used.. abilities. She was one of the very few so far who chose to spend time with me no matter how little once the test and training was done.
She talked to me. Really talked to me. Maybe it was because we both came from Hydra. Or perhaps because she felt like she had an obligation, what with rescuing me and all. I don't know. May..maybe she just wanted to know she wouldn't... Wanda wouldn't use me. Right?
Oh, come on, freak.
Why not? You read the files. She used the deepest fears against her teammates before. What would stop her now from doing the same to you?? She probably knows them already.
That's why she's been so nice to you since you arrived. That's why you're not even on the team. You'll never be good enough for them. Or her. You're only here so they can pick you apart and throw you away. She's just here to make sure you don't go.
No, Wanda wouldn't do that. She wouldn't.. she.. she saved me. Wanda saved me!
Knock
Knock
Knock
"Y/N!" I jolt up from the floor, covered in sweat, at the sound of Wanda's voice outside my door. I quickly take in my surroundings before realizing I'm in my room. My room. Avengers compound. Second floor. I'm safe.
I touch my face and feel the tear tracks that are left behind. "Y/N?" Wanda calls out again before another series of knocks land. "One second!" I yell back in a less than put-together manner. With a deep breath out and take a moment to collect myself. Running a hand through my hair before pushing it and those dark thoughts to the back of my mind.
"It's okay. It wasn't real." I silently remind myself before attempting to stand on my legs before falling onto the bed. "Y/N?" Wanda gently calls out again. "Are you okay?" I don't want to lie, so I don't respond. Instead, I pull a new shirt towards me and quickly change before making my way to the door to see a worried-looking witch.
I open my mouth, but no words come out as Wanda's hands land on the sides of my face. "Oh Detka.." I still don't know what that means, but hearing it this tone hurts me. "What's wrong?" I lift my hands to hers slowly bring them down.
She's using you!
No, she isn't.
Wanda quickly looks up into my eyes, but I look away from the stare to down the hall to her open bedroom door.
Most people in this building wouldn't be able to hear it, but I do. The outro to a show I've heard numerous times called The Dick Van Dyke Show playing on low from Wanda's TV. The bag of chips sitting on her bed, slowly crumbling down. Or even Wanda's breathing slightly increases when she follows my gaze before looking back at me. Wanda clears her throat before asking. "Would you like to join me?"
"No- I-"
"No, Y/N. Come on, it'll be fun." Wanda excitedly pulls a smile and looks up at me. "Please?" Her lips form into a pout that I see right through, but I give in. "Okay." In an instant, the witch is pulling me to her room and using her powers to shut the door behind us.
Once the door closes, I take in the surroundings. The only quarters I've seen the inside of is my own. Wanda's is drastically different from mine. She has color and a specific pop that mine lacks. Her identity is all over the room. In fact, it's as bright as she is.
Although, thank goodness she isn't any brighter than the sun, or I wouldn't be able to see her.
Little vampire joke.
Hmm? I move my head to see Wanda looking at me, holding her lip between her teeth. Her heartbeat has picked up once again. "Everything okay?" I ask. Wanda nods her head at me before waving me over to the edge of the bed. "Come sit." I take one step before: "Oh no, no, wait!" Wanda stands and stops my movement with her hand. "Wasn't I supposed to invite you in?!" Wanda lowers her hand but looks at me with such intensity, but I have no idea what she means. "Huh?"
"Vampires, aren't they- like- you uh, vampires can only be allowed to places if they're invited. Right?" Everything I was thinking before this moment is melting away the more I look at the witch's face. "Where did you hear that from?" I manage to ask without laughing.
"Well, Pietro said that you- oh my God, never mind!" Wanda puts her head into her hands and laughs, letting me break as well. "Don't listen to my brother!"
"Well, I wasn't going to start now." I take a seat next to Wanda. Close enough to be comfortable and not touching. This seems to satisfy Wanda as she starts the episode of the show over. "Have you seen this?" I shake my head no as the introduction with a tune begins to play. "Um.. before.. Well, before, this wasn't something that existed, and then it's not like Hydra had time for enhanced like me (monsters) to be watching.. whatever this is called." I smile and force a chuckle at the end of my sentence as I look at Wanda. She has a frown on her face that confuses me, but before I can comment on it, she looks away from me and to the screen as the show begins.
I'm Weak.
"Hmm?" Wanda looks over at me. "I didn't say anything."
"Oh." Wanda's eyes stay on me before she once again looks at the man on screen. "It's called Bewitched. The show we're watching." I look over to Wanda, who holds her hands together. "Before Hydra and the bombings.. these shows. These American shows were what my family had. Whatever Papa didn't sell, we got to watch and learn for one more night. This." Wanda gestures to the screen. "This was always one of my favorites." Wanda rubs her hands on her thighs. "It's why I always have them on. So I don't forget them."
Wanda turns to face me, and I see the tears in her eyes. "I never told anyone that." I scoot closer and, wrap my arms around the sad witch and hold her close.
"Thank you for sharing that with me, Wanda," I say into the top of her head, knowing she'll hear me.
Seconds of holding her turn into minutes, not that I mind beca- "Y/N?" Wanda pulls out of the hug and looks up at me. "Yeah?"
"Can I ask you something?" I hesitate. Questions at Hydra were always a trick. "Sure." Wanda nods and wipes her eyes. "Do you like being here? At the compound." I nod almost immediately. "Anything better than Hydra, huh," Wanda says, making me smile and nod again. "Yeah."
"Can I ask another question?" The first didn't hurt, so why not? "Okay." Wanda turns her body more towards me now. "Do you trust me?" I hear Wanda's heartbeat pick up as she waits for my answer. But why do I wait? Of course, I trust Wanda. She helped me. She saved me. It's Wanda!
She's using you.
"I'm not!" Wanda speaks up with a wide-eyed look, slightly startling me. "Oh my God, Y/N, I'm sorry!"
What?? Did she just read my thoughts?
"No, Y/N! I didn't mean to. I normally don't. It's just your thoughts are so loud sometimes! Oh my god, I'm so sorry!"
I slowly move myself off the bed and start backing away from Wanda, who looks at me with a destroyed look. "I promise." She pleads. "Y/N, please." Wanda stands up and walks to me. For a second, when I blink, I see us back in Hydra's cell after she arrived with the rest of the team. "Y/N?" I close my eyes and focus on the one thing that matters right now.
"Repeat it," I ask. "What? I-" "The apology.. I believe you, Wanda, but please.."
I sense Wanda nod, and I listen to her as she voices her sorrows once again—every word she says with conviction and truth.
Especially when she says: "And you're not weak. Or a monster. I've fought monsters. They don't look like you." Wanda quickly smiles. "No matter what you think or what Hydra made you think. You're stronger than most people I've met in this line of work. Because of what you had before them. Before the bite. Is you. It's you, Y/N. I'll always remind you of that."
I open my eyes and run back into her arms. "Can I, uh, ask you something," I ask into the air floating around us. "Anything."
"You never have... or ever will use me, right?" I hold onto Wanda tighter because I know if I look into her eyes, I'll break down. "Never Y/N. I never have, and I never will." Truth. "Thank you." I hold her close and let the few happy thoughts I have fly around my brain.
"Read my thoughts, Wanda."
Wanda giggles at one of my favorite memories before her. "I know you didn't mean to read my thoughts before. It's okay, Witchy."
"Sometimes they just get too loud, and I can't help it. It happens to the others as well. But tonight, your nightmare- I just wanted to ensure you were okay."
I swallow the lump in my throat. Not because she saw my nightmare. I had a feeling. But because she cared enough to check on me.
"Thank you for waking me."
"Now Y/N. Can I ask you something?" I let out a shaky breath with a smile as my grip around Wanda loosens. "Sure."
"This isn't my question, but can you look at me?" I look down to see a smile on the witch's face. She pulls the ends of her sleeves down and wipes below my eyes. "Better." She says with another shining smile before it morphs into a soft, compassionate face. "This is a serious question. Okay?"
"Okay."
"Pietro says vampires can't have garlic. Is this true?" Wanda's lips crack into a smile just as mine do the same. The air in the room becomes lighter as her angelic laughs fly around. "No, it's not true."
"Stakes? True or false?" She asks as we find ourselves planting our butts in the middle of the bed. The complicated conversation and the show playing in the background become something we can look back on. "Wooden stakes. Yes. True." Wanda makes a hmm noise before offering me the Garlic and Herb bag of chips that's been sitting there since I got here. "The team. Do they trust me?"
"Bucky no. Natasha maybe. The rest, yes. But that's because you scare two of them." I tilt my head, confused. "Who do I scare? I've barely talked to them."
"Sam and Peter."
That makes sense. Wanda hums in agreement before taking some chips and placing them in her hand. "Besides flying, strength and powers. What else can you do?" Wanda innocently asks.
"I can turn into a bat."
"Shut up!! Really?!" I shake my head no and laugh to let her know I was joking. "Aww Y/N! That would've been so cool. And cute!!"
Cute!?
"Do your fangs hurt?" Wanda asks before eating her last chip. "Not me," I respond with a wide grin, showing off the fangs that, for some reason, I hear Wanda's heartbeat growing faster..?
"Wow." Wanda breaths out before she looks away from me and to the room around us. "Let's get more comfortable," Wanda suggests as she gets up and grabs the remote for her string lights, dimming them before moving to the top of her bed. Leaning her back against the headboard. "Come on." Wanda waves me over again.
Just like before, I get comfortable next to Wanda; however, where there was space between our bodies before it is now gone. As her thigh touches my own. "Is this okay?" Wanda asks me. I don't know whether she's referring to us touching or the new show she's putting on, but I nod.
I smile at the thought that this won't be the last time I watch TV with Wanda in her room. "It won't be." She smiles at me.
"Thank you, Wanda."
"You're welcome, Detka."

A Black Widow Halloween
Tumblr media
Family is More than Blood
Summary: Halloween was your favorite holiday. Spooky movies, cooler weather, and you loved watching the leaves change but that changes when you have to go back to the Red Room.
Relationships: Natasha x Yelena x Reader (sisters)
Warning: implied sexual assault, Drekyov is a horrible human and I'm glad he's dead lol, Red Room trauma, panic attack.
Word count: 1.6K
Halloween, Ohio, 1995
“And done,” Melina said. “You can open your eyes now.” You did as you ere told and starred at your reflection. It was Halloween and when Melina and Alexei said you and your sisters could go trick or treating you were surprised and lost for words. The first year they didn’t allow you to out, calming they didn’t know the neighborhood well. But you knew the truth, the Red Room forbade it. So when they agreed to let you go, you and Natasha jumped at the chance. You were going as a vampire, Natasha found a witch costume, and Yelena was going as a fairy. Melina helped you with your makeup, paling your complexion, adding dark eye shadow, and drops of fake blood.
“Thank you, mama,” you said, standing up from her vanity. “It’s perfect.”
“Go change into your costume and tell Natalia I’m ready for her,” You nodded and found Natalia in the kitchen, scarfing down the last of her dinner and ran towards the master bedroom. On the way to your room, you passed Yelena’s. You heard quiet Sniffling from instead which was odd. Her room was always loud with whatever game she made up. “Lena,” you quietly said, walking in. The crying stopped but you heard it from the closet. Gently, you opened the door and found the blonde curled up on the floor. Her fairy costume on minus the wings and tears steaming down her cheeks. “Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” You asked. She wouldn’t answer, her green eyes wide and tiny chest heaving as she tried to get air in her lungs. “It’s me. Y/n. I need you to breath,” you took her hand and placed it on your chest. “Do you feel that?” She nodded. “I need you to copy how I breath, slowly in and out.” It took her a moment but soon her breathing matched yours. Her eyes were bloodshot, dried tears on her cheeks, and snot dripping out of her nose. A little gross but you were more worried about getting her breathing under control.
You sat on the floor, crossed your legs, and held out your hands with your palms facing up. Yelena began to trace each line. “What’s got you upset, little miss?” She shrugged. “Come on you can tell me. I’m your big sister.”
“Monsters,” she whispered. You wanted her to elaborate but you learned to be patient with the girl. Speaking for her or to much caused her to shut down. “What if the monsters come and get me?” Oh, your heart broke on how innocent she saw the world.
“Those monsters are just people in costume they aren’t real,” you told her but she wasn’t convinced. “You know how you like to play make believe. We pretended to be doctors, or fairies, or hikers climbing a dangerous mountain,” she nodded. “Halloween is a big game of pretend and make believe.”
“You promise the monsters won’t get me.” The smile you wore twitched but she missed it.
“The monsters won’t get you while I’m around,” you tickled her sides and she began to giggle. “Now let’s get you cleaned up and put some glitter on.”
“But daddy said no glitter,” you helped her stand up.
Halloween, Red Room
“What dad doesn’t know won’t hurt him,” you smiled. “Now come on!” But the bitter lie tasted sour in your mouth. The monsters she was afraid of weren’t the ones she should be worried about. Those monsters weren’t wearing masks or scary makeup. They were men that ordered little girls to kill and stripped them of their innocence and childhood. You weren’t sure how you were going to protect her from that.
*
“Do you know what day it is, malen’kiy pauk (little spider)?” Dreykov asked from behind his desk. You stood at attention, arms behind your back and looking down slightly.
“Halloween, sir,” Also almost 6 months since your sisters escaped the Red Room, were free from the clutches of this man. You wondered how they were doing. Did they miss you? We’re they going to try to come back for you?
Halloween, Avengers Compound
“Yes, Halloween,” he stood up and walked behind you. Goosebumps covered your skin at the feeling of his breath. “And I have a very special costume for you to wear?” Costume? You haven’t worn a costume since Ohio when you and your sisters ran around the neighborhood getting candy from every house. You were so filled with sugar and happiness that it was impossible for Melina to get you to bed. For once, you were a real kid. A Widow entered his office with the costume in her hands. “You are going to look absolutely delicious."
*
“Tony is throwing a Halloween party!” Yelena proclaimed as she opened your door without knocking. Luckily, you were working on your laptop and not doing another serious. It was also the only warning before she jumped on the bed, you moved your laptop in time. “Tony is having a Halloween party.” She repeated.
“I heard you the first time, sestra,” you flickered her for heard and she rubbed the spot with a pout. “What does that have to do with me?” You asked.
“It’s our first Halloween together since Ohio and I want us to do a group costume,” you raised a questioning eyebrow. Holidays weren’t celebrated in the Red room. It was another day to train or an easy eye to sneak into an event. You sighed.
“Okay, what do you have in mind?” An evil smile formed on her face. Oh, you were in so much trouble.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head,” she ruffled your hair. “I have the perfect costume in mind.” She jumped off your bed and headed for the door.
“Yelena,” you groaned. “I do not want to look ridiculous.”
“You won’t! Promise. You’ll look hot.” To be honest, that didn’t make you feel any better.
So Yelena wasn’t wrong, the costume was flattering. It was a purple v-neck dress with red accents. She got a bat shaped necklace and required you to wear red lip stick and vampire teeth. You had no idea who you were supposed to be but it was fun. Like you told Yelena all those years ago, Halloween was a big game of pretend and make believe. Then why did you feel so sick to your stomach? “I can’t believe she got us to do this,” you looked towards your door and saw Natasha. Her hair was back to her red color and curled. She was wearing a navy pant suit with purple finger less gloves. Around her neck was a yellow necklace with a purple jewel. You smiled.
“I’m not,” you straightened your dress before you sat on the edge of your bed. “She was always good at those puppy dog eyes, she got Melina and Alexei to do anything.” Natasha chuckled. “Besides I have no idea who we are.”
“The Hex Girls, they are from a cartoon show,” your sister walked into your room and sat down next to you. “Are you okay? You’ve been acting strange all week.” You sighed, picking at the fabric of your dress.
“Just not the biggest Halloween fan anymore,” you saw Natasha frown.
“What did he do?” She asked. You knew who she was talking about without having to say a name but you remained quiet. With a sigh, she moved you so you were facing her. Natasha held out her hands, palms up, and you smiled at the gesture. You were surprised she remembered. You began to trace the lines on her hand. It helped ground you.
“It was the first Halloween since you escaped,” you began. “He called me into his office and had a costume for me. It was a maid outfit, barely covered anything and he took me to a party,” you sighed. “There were a few other Widows but the guests were people in his inner circle and a few politicians from around the world. I didn’t want to be there and I didn’t want what they did to me either,” your hands were shaking and Natasha grabbed onto them.
“The monster is gone,” she said. “He can’t hurt you anymore.”
“But other people can,” you admitted. She sighed.
“Yes, that is true,” your sister slowly said. “What happened to you at that party won’t happen here. Tony may make a comment but none of them will touch you without your permission, okay?” You nodded. “If they don’t respect that I’ll cut their hands off then their dicks.” You laughed, shaking your head.
“Is it your turn to protect me from the monsters?” You teased.
“Yes,” she said without hesitation. “You’ve done it for to long now it’s our turn.” Before you could respond, there was a knock on your door.
“Looking good, sestras,” Yelena wore a long sleeve green dress and her blonde hair was in two pony tails. Her lip stick matched the color of her dress and she wore a choker and necklace.
“I feel like I should watch the cartoon these girls care from,” you said.
“Yeah,” you stood up. “There better be some good alcohol.” Natasha rolled her eyes.
“We’ll add it to the list. Scooby Doovis a timeless classic,” the blonde smiled. “Are you ready?” Natasha looked at you.
“That’s all Tony spends his money on.” Sometimes you could still feel his breath on your neck. His claws that were so deep inside you that you feared one day he would over power you. As you walked into the party with your sisters by your side and ignored the crude comment Tony threw at you, you felt normal. The monster was gone.

summary: when you convince Yelena to go out with the flirty barista serving you, you begin to realise that you may actually like her yourself.
warning/s: mentions of a breakup, shitty girlfriends and the mildest of angst.
author's note: here’s the second and final part! who doesn’t love a bit of yelena? i’ve got a multi-part alicia clark imagine coming up next 🥰
part one / masterlist / wattpad
Tumblr media
Whenever bad things happen, everybody thinks it's the worst it can be and that they'll never get out from it. And that was exactly how I felt with the whole Thomas situation. Turns out all I needed to do was share my feelings with somebody.
After Yelena discovered the truth about our break up, it became a lot easier for me to move on from it. I didn't feel like I was holding it all alone, and if I ever did feel lonelier than usual, she was always there for me to call.
I was surprised she didn't do something horribly irreversible or probably illegal to him in some form of payback, considering she was still very much pissed about the whole thing. I'd made it clear I didn't want her to, and I was very appreciative of her listening to me.
A month passed and I didn't even care for Thomas anymore. It was easy to let it all go, to an extent. I tried to focus on myself again and appreciate what I did have in my life. And one of those things was Yelena, of course.
We were out on a coffee date during our lunch break one day. It was nice to get out of the Compound, especially during the few breaks I got, and Yelena happened to be mission-free so was able to join me.
"Sorry, one second, my phone keeps vibrating," she said when we were mid-conversation.
I waited patiently, watching as she quickly flicked through her messages.
"Who is it?" I asked, before sipping my iced coffee.
She sighed, tapping away quickly before locking her phone. "Just Nat. She can't find her hoodie."
"Oh, d'you know where it is?"
"Uh-huh."
I quirked a brow. "And you told her?"
"I told her I don't know," she said casually, before slurping her fruit drink.
I tried not to laugh as I glanced at what Yelena had on. "Is it the hoodie you're wearing by any chance?"
She didn't respond, but a smile curled on her lips as she met my eyes playfully. I chuckled, shaking my head at her silliness.
"I don't know how you're so confident lying to her. When she finds out, she'll be so angry," I said.
"She doesn't scare me," she answered with a shrug.
I raised my eyebrows in disagreement. "Seriously? She's intimidating as fuck! The Black Widow!" When Yelena didn't seem to agree, I scoffed quietly. "Honestly, I probably never would have talked to her if it wasn't for you. She's scary."
Yelena snorted with amusement. "Please. Natasha is the least intimidating person ever. Even you're more intimidating than her."
I rolled my eyes playfully. "Of course you're saying that. You're her sister after all."
Enthused, Yelena leaned back in her seat and eyed me curiously. "I'm now wondering what you thought of me when we first met."
"Well, I thought you would be intimidating," I began, suppressing the urge to smile, "but then you came in because of a bad mission report and started pouting like a baby when I corrected you. So, from there, I knew you were harmless."
She opened her mouth with disbelief, lifting an eyebrow. "Wow. Seriously?"
"You're a softie deep down, I know it," I said convincingly, and she tried not to smile but it was impossible.
"Whatever," she mumbled, avoiding my eyes.
I grinned at her pout and the fact that she was only proving my point. "It's true! You would do anything I ask. Soft–ie."
She scoffed under her breath, crossing her arms, only making me laugh. I knew it and she knew it, but it was okay. That was why I loved her.
"Sorry to interrupt, but are you finished with your food?" a waitress asked, stopping by our table.
"No worries, that's fine, thanks," I said to her politely.
She smiled, nodding, before stacking them and saying, "Can I get you any dessert?"
I shook my head, but Yelena bit her lip as she glanced at the dessert menu sticking out between the salt and pepper shakers.
"Hmm, maybe," she mumbled, before pulling it out to have a proper look.
I crossed my arms and leaned back in my seat, amused. Of course she'd want dessert.
"You know, the chocolate cake here is very good," the waitress recommended, leaning down slightly to point it out on the menu to her. "Or if you're not a cake person, there's pie."
"That looks pretty good actually," Yelena agreed, nodding slightly.
"Something sweet for someone sweet," the waitress flirted, glancing at Yelena with a smile.
Either oblivious or not knowing how to react, Yelena clapped her hands together and nodded. "Well, I can't say no to that. Can I get a slice of your apple pie with some ice cream, please?"
"You got it," the waitress agreed, eyes lingering on Yelena a lot longer than normal, before collecting our plates and leaving.
I raised my eyebrows, trying not to laugh, as I looked over to Yelena with disbelief. Feeling my stare, she looked up and raised her chin.
"What?" she questioned.
I glanced over at the waitress who was behind the till getting her pie, and then back at Yelena. "What? Seriously? Did you not see what I just saw?"
Confused, Yelena tilted her head. "What? The picture of the pie? It's on the menu, Y/N, of course I saw it."
I tsked, shaking my head, before giving her a knowing look. "That waitress, idiot! She was totally into you!"
Taken aback, Yelena shook her head. "Pfft, no she wasn't. You're seeing things."
I rolled my eyes. "Yelena. She was literally checking you out."
"She was taking my order, that's all," she disagreed, getting comfortable in her seat. "It was good customer service is all."
I snorted. "Okay, whatever you say."
The waitress soon returned and gave Yelena her dessert, and not without checking her out yet again. Yelena glanced at me disapprovingly when I gave her another look, but said nothing else. We chatted for a little longer, her enjoying her dessert and me finishing my drink, before my lunch break was over and I knew I had to get back.
The same waitress – whose name tag read Andrea – gave us the bill and let us split it. But just as I predicted, she wrote a little something extra on Yelena's card receipt and slid it over to her before leaving.
"It's her number," I said with amazement, laughing when I put my jacket on. "I was freakin' right! God, I'm good."
"Maybe you were," Yelena said with mild surprise, looking at the receipt, before putting it in her pocket. "Probably won't do anything with it."
I quirked a brow. "Seriously? You should talk to her. She seems nice. And she was definitely interested in you."
Yelena considered it, glancing at the till where Andrea was serving another customer.
"It's really easy," I assured her, realising she'd never dated before because of her past, and so this would all be new to her. "No pressure or anything. Just approach her and say hi. And then the rest will play out itself."
"I don't know," she said, looking back to me with disinterest.
"Yelena, go over there," I said with encouragement. "You'll be fine. Promise."
She hesitated, watching me as if searching for confirmation. When I nodded, she took a deep breath and went over to the till. I smiled as I subtly watched their conversation, too far to hear anything but it looked like it was going well. Yelena was smiling shyly which was rare with her, and Andrea seemed to be enjoying the attention, checking her out and flirtatiously touching her hand on the counter.
Without thinking much of it, my smile faded when I saw just how flirtatious she was acting. It was a little icky to witness and left an unpleasant feeling in my stomach. I think I felt... jealous? Which was stupid, because I'd literally talked Yelena into going over there and I had no reason to be. But seeing it all play out was a different story, and a small part of me wanted to yank Yelena away and forget this ever happened.
It was a momentary feeling, strange, and I tried to ignore it. She was my friend and this was the first time she was putting herself out there – I was merely being overprotective.
Though, when Yelena finished her conversation and left with slightly pink cheeks, I realised it might have been more than a little jealousy I was feeling.
Trying to push that to the side, I plastered on a smile as we walked out the store. "So? How did it go?"
Yelena shrugged, smiling a little. "Alright. You were right. She was nice. I said I'd call her."
"That's great," I said, sounding excited for her, but I wasn't too sure I actually was.
"Enough of that anyway," Yelena said, giving me a sideways glance. "We don't want you back to work late. Let's go."
"We've got time, don't worry about– woah!"
I was cut off when Yelena put her hand out across me, stopping me from walking further forward. A cyclist suddenly sped past us, inches away from knocking me down if she hadn't stopped me, and I widened my eyes with surprise at the suddenness of it all and also the feeling of Yelena's hand protectively over me because she still hadn't let go, even when she yelled out a string of Russian curse words to the cyclist. It was kind of attractive, admittedly, seeing her so protective, and that's when I realised...
Oh, no.
"Are you okay?" she asked, finally dropping her hand and looking to me with concern.
I swallowed uncomfortably, avoiding her eyes. "Yep. All good here. Thank you."
She breathed out with relief, squeezing my arm gently. "People can be such idiots."
She began to rant about how inconsiderate some cyclists could be when riding on the pavement, but I was barely listening. The realisation that I may be attracted to my best friend was enough to silence me for the rest of the walk back to work.
Tumblr media
It didn't long for me to realise that, yes, I do in fact like my best friend.
Though I tried to pin it down to a momentary lapse of judgement, or a mere appreciation for the beauty that was Yelena, I knew it wasn't that. More so when she actually began to see Andrea outside of the coffee shop and went on a few dates with her. The jealousy that went through me was too fierce to be purely platonic. And I hated that I only noticed too late.
Despite this, I tried to be as supportive as possible, especially because it was Yelena's first true taste of a relationship. There was a chance I was finding things to pick on without meaning to though...
"She's just really nice," Yelena was telling me one day after another date she'd been on. Her smile was permanent and she was gushing, making me feel icky because it was about someone else. "We went bowling and it was simple, but she makes me feel good. I didn't think it was possible, you know? I'm usually the one who doesn't feel like this, but something about her..."
She sighed contently, probably falling into a daydream about her, and I couldn't exactly do anything about it because I was the one who pushed her to go out with her.
"Does she know who you are?" I asked, trying not to seem too interested, when deep down I hated the irrational jealousy in me.
She shook her head, trying not to laugh. "I'm not stupid. Of course she doesn't. As far as she's aware, I work in admin at S.H.I.E.L.D."
I narrowed my eyes without meaning to. "So, my job."
She grinned, winking. "Exactly!"
I shoved her arm gently from across the table. "Just be careful. She's still new and you don't want to let anything slip up."
She gave me a disapproving look. "Y/N, I think you forget I'm a fully trained assassin. I don't let things 'slip up'."
I rolled my eyes. "Still."
And that was only the start. The more dates she went on, the more unreasonably jealous I was becoming. I tried my hardest to be supportive, but it was hard seeing her be so happy with someone else.
I wasn't sure how I'd never looked at Yelena in this light before, especially when she'd been nothing but kind and caring towards me. Probably because I was in a relationship, but now I wasn't and she was, so everything was the wrong timing. Whatever it was, I just knew that now I'd become aware of how great she was in a more-than-a-friend kind of way, it hurt seeing her with someone else.
But, like I said, I was nothing short of supportive. I helped her get ready for her dates, I gave her advice whenever she asked for it, and I even hung out with Andrea whenever they invited me. She was just as nice as she was at the coffee shop, except now I hated everything about her for the sole reason that she was dating Yelena and I wasn't.
It was a horrid feeling, jealousy. But I tried not to let it get the better of me. Yelena was in her first proper relationship and she needed support, not bitterness.
Unfortunately, as time passed, there were a few times when Yelena and Andrea would have plans and Andrea would cancel last minute, unaware of the way Yelena's feelings would drop in an instant. Or sometimes, we'd all be grabbing lunch together and she'd cut Yelena off mid-story, highjacking it with her own. I wasn't sure if it was on purpose or not, and Yelena never seemed to mind, so I didn't comment on it. But I always thought about it, hoping it wasn't my jealousy just picking things to hate on.
I knew I wasn't just seeing things when it happened again, though this time it was their two month anniversary (whatever the hell that meant). I was helping Yelena get ready at hers, doing her hair for her and listening to her ramble all about what she had planned and what restaurant she'd booked for the evening. She looked stunning, I wouldn't lie, but even more so because of the sparkle in her eyes and the glimmer in her smile when she talked about Andrea. As much as I disliked the girl, she made Yelena happier than I'd seen her. And as much as that broke my heart, it warmed it, too.
"So, the waiter said he'd prepare this special chocolate cake that's cut into a heart–" she was telling me as I put some pins in her hair to keep it out of her eyes, but was cut off by her phone ringing.
I passed it to her from behind me on the bed, happening to catch the caller ID as Andrea's. When she saw it, her face lit up and she answered it.
"Darling, hey!" she greeted, making me insides turn uncomfortably. There was a pause, then Yelena continued, "I'm almost ready and I'll come to pick you up. It's a surprise after all." She laughed, but then she fell silent, listening intently.
I finished her hair and smiled at my handiwork before taking a step back, only to realise the lovely smile on her face had disappeared.
"No, I understand," she said, voice lacking the same excitement it had all evening. A fake smile was on her lips as she looked down, playing with the hem of her dress. "It's okay, don't worry. We can reschedule. It happens all the time. Just a mix up, I know."
I frowned, wondering what was up, before watching her say her goodbyes and hanging up. It was quiet and she didn't say anything, so I decided to speak up.
"Is everything okay?" I asked gently, moving around so I could see her face.
She nodded, faking another smile as she met my eyes briefly. "Yes, but Andrea won't be able to go out this evening."
I raised my eyebrows with surprise. "What do you mean? You've got a whole plan. I thought you were picking her up."
She bit her lip, looking away. "She didn't realise she'd promised she'd go out to a party with her roommate tonight. Mixed up the days."
Without thinking twice, I said, "What the fuck? That's rude."
Yelena shook her head, visibly upset but defensive. "No, it was just an accident. Her roommate needed a wing woman and she promised she'd go. She said she'd make it up to me."
"Yelena, that's not an excuse," I told her with furrowed brows, not recognising this version of my friend. "It's your two month anniversary, right? You both knew the date. She should have cancelled with her friend and chose you."
"Y/N, just leave it," she said quietly, before standing up and taking out the pins in her hair.
"No, I won't leave it," I said, earning her attention. "This isn't the first time she's cancelled on you last minute. You put a lot of effort into tonight and she should be here!"
"It's not a big deal," she defended again, and it frustrated me to no ends because if the roles had been reversed, Yelena would have killed the person who did this to me. But ever since she'd dated Andrea, she'd become submissive.
"It's a dick move, Yelena!" I exclaimed, and she clenched her jaw. "She's a–"
"Don't," she warned, shooting me a look. "Don't talk about her like that."
"You always defend her," I said with disbelief. "Yelena, she does this regularly! And not just this."
"Oh, just say how you really feel," she said sarcastically, turning to walk to her wardrobe so she didn't have to look at me.
"Ever since you began dating her, it's like you've changed," I finally told her what had been on my mind. "She makes the decisions. She tells you what to do. She cancels, she takes advantage of your patience and you let her! That's not what a relationship is!"
"Stop talking badly about her!" she shouted suddenly, spinning around to glare at me. "I don't know where all of this is coming from, but stop it! It's not your place, Y/N!"
"Yes, it is!" I shouted. "She's a shitty girlfriend, Yelena! Who the hell leaves someone alone on their anniversary?! And for what – a dumb party?! That's fucked!"
"Stop it! You–" She began to curse in Russian, looking up with frustration, before settling her fiery stare at me. "You're the one who told me to date her!"
I scoffed. "Well, that was before I knew how badly she'd treat you."
"No!" she yelled, pointing an accusatory finger at me. "Stop it! You don't– fuck! You don't get to say all of this now! Not when–!"
Stopping herself, she squeezed her hand into a fist and looked the other way. I hated that she couldn't just see how badly she was being treated, how she couldn't believe me when I told her.
"Whatever, enjoy your cancelled date," I told her with a frown, before grabbing my phone and leaving her place.
So much for being supportive, I guess.
Tumblr media
THIRD PERSON POV
"She's just being such a– such a–"
"A concerned friend?" Natasha filled in for her sister, making the blonde groan with frustration.
"Why are you sticking up for her right now?!" Yelena exclaimed. "You're supposed to be on my side!"
"Sorry," Natasha apologised, hardly meaning it.
Since Yelena burst into her room at the Compound the following day of her cancelled date, ranting about how rude Y/N was being and how she didn't approve of Yelena's relationship, Natasha was forced to hear it all.
"She doesn't get to comment on this!" Yelena continued to rant, more upset than angry, Natasha noticed. "I waited for her, for crying out loud! I– fuck, I was in love with her and she didn't see that, so no! She doesn't get to tell me what my relationship is."
"I mean, regardless of all of that, she wasn't wrong," Natasha commented, wondering if she'd regret it given Yelena's current emotional state right now. "The way Andrea treats you... it's not how a relationship is supposed to be."
Yelena narrowed her eyes at her sister. "Are you just team Y/N all the way now? Didn't know you loved her so fucking much."
Natasha ignored her bitterness and continued, "I'm not taking sides, Yelena. But I've seen how Andrea treats you, heard from yourself how she treats you. It's a dick thing to do."
Yelena clenched her jaw. "You've never said this before."
Natasha sighed, looking over her cup of coffee and to her sister. "I didn't want to get involved in your first relationship. It's something you had to figure out yourself. But Y/N... she cares about you and said it first. She's right. You deserve better, Yelena. And you're only not listening to Y/N because you're holding a grudge at the fact that she didn't love you back. That she didn't know you loved– love– whatever it is, her. But that's not fair to hold against her when she doesn't know. You didn't tell her and that's on you. Not her."
Yelena began to unclench her jaw and looked away, her anger fading and being replaced with hurt. There was truth to Natasha's words, she knew that, but she couldn't accept it just like that. It wasn't fair. She waited for Y/N. She wanted her. And when she finally had her chance, Y/N convinced her to ask Andrea out instead. All Yelena ever wanted was Y/N. It should have been her.
It wasn't fair.
Tumblr media
YOUR POV
Yelena and I had never argued before, not like this. Small, stupid, petty arguments, sure, but never this. I hadn't seen her as angry as I had that evening. We hadn't gone this long – a whole week – without speaking, ever.
I missed her.
After being left alone to replay that evening over in my head, I knew I shouldn't have snapped like I did. Letting my concern and jealousy both get the better of me like that... it wasn't fair on Yelena. She didn't know how I felt, she couldn't have, and I was the one who talked her into dating Andrea. I couldn't take it out on her like I was, so I knew I needed to apologise. And tell her the truth, even if it meant saying goodbye to our friendship forever.
I went to visit her at her apartment, hoping she'd be in and also actually let me see her. Sucking up a deep breath, I knocked on her front door and waited. Finally, the door opened and Yelena was standing there, certainly surprised to see me. She didn't look like she wanted to punch me in the face, which was a positive sign...
"Hey," I said, embarrassed at how quietly it came out. Clearing my throat, I repeated myself, "Hey. Hi."
She pressed her lips together, green eyes flickering between mine. "Hi. I didn't expect to see you here."
"I know, sorry for showing up unannounced." I swallowed the lump in my throat. "I understand if you want me to leave, but I came here because I want to talk to you. I need to apologise, Yelena."
She raised her eyebrows, clearly surprised. "I see. It's funny you say that. I was actually going to visit you. I wanted to apologise also. And talk."
I was surprised, not expecting to hear that, and as much as I was curious about what she felt she needed to apologise for, I knew I needed to go first, it already on the tip of my tongue.
"Can I come in?" I asked nervously.
She nodded, stepping to the side. I let myself in, stopping in the hall and not inviting myself in any further.
"Y/N, I–" she began after closing the door behind me, but I cut her off instantly.
"Please let me go first," I pleaded. "I have to tell you something important. It can't wait."
She nodded reluctantly, eyes locking on mine as she waited for me to speak. This was it. The truth. Possibly the last exchange I could have with her if it went so badly.
"Firstly, I'm sorry for how everything went down between us last week," I said with a frown. "I shouldn't have flipped on you like that without warning. What I said... it could have been said better, at a better time and in a better place. But Yelena... it's true. I don't want to see you being used like that and forgotten about. You're amazing and you deserve the world."
She looked down at her shoes uncomfortably, and I worried I was going too far. But I sucked it up and powered through.
"The reason I was so bitter about it was because I was concerned as your best friend, yes, but also because I was jealous. I'm in love with you, Yelena."
Shocked, she looked up at me, eyebrows raised. Realising what I said, I cursed inwardly and tried to backtrack. That wasn't how I planned to tell her.
"Sorry," I said quickly, "that's not fair. You're in a relationship and–"
"We broke up," she cut me off abruptly.
I blinked, confused. "What?"
"That's what I was going to tell you," she said softly. "I broke up with her. You were right. I deserve better."
It was my turn to be surprised, eyebrows raised and her words digesting. "Oh."
It went quiet between us, our words hanging in the air, and I didn't know what else to say when she watched me closely.
"I've been in love with you for a long time," she finally spoke, taking me by further surprise.
"What?"
She released a deep breath, sad smile on her lips. "You never knew and I couldn't tell you because you were my first real friend. And I didn't want to ruin that."
She'd been in love with me this whole time? How was I so blind to miss it?
"Since when?" I asked, like it would make a difference, genuinely shocked by this revelation.
She swallowed thickly. "Do you remember that time when we went out to that sushi place? And I accidentally dropped the soy sauce all over you?"
How could I forget? It was shortly after we became proper friends and was the funniest thing to happen at a sushi bar. I smelled like soy sauce the whole afternoon at work but I didn't even care because Yelena was so embarrassed it was adorable.
"Yeah," I answered quietly.
"Since then," she said awkwardly, looking away.
I opened my mouth to say something, but I didn't know what to say. I was too taken aback, overthinking every moment since that sushi date. She'd been in love with me for that long?
"Well, now what?" she asked nervously, a nervousness that was rare with her but reminded me she wasn't just the stoic assassin everyone thought she was.
I pressed my lips together, eyes studying her expression with intrigue. She was avoiding my stare, eyes glued to the ground, and I let mine fall from her bright eyes to the slope of her nose, the dip of her cupid's bow, the fullness of her lips. She loved me, too. But she wouldn't make the first move, that much was clear. Why wait any longer?
"Maybe I could take you out on a date," I offered, earning her attention. "A proper one. And I can show you how you're supposed to be treated. How you deserve to be."
I held my breath, portraying a confidence I definitely didn't feel inside. I was certain she was, too, the both of us awaiting an answer that felt like it wouldn't come.
And just at that moment, her phone began to ring.
Startled, she pulled it from her pocket and checked the screen before declining the call. Clutching it tightly, she looked up to me again, eyes flickering between mine.
"I–"
Her phone began to ring again, only making the nerves in my stomach tighten with each passing second.
"You should answer," I told her before she could decline it. "It could be important."
Reluctantly she nodded and let out an annoyed sigh, putting the phone to her ear. "Hello?"
I couldn't hear the conversation, but it sounded like her sister and there was a sense of urgency in her voice. Something must have been up. Yelena kept a passive expression, humming before promising to be there and saying her goodbyes.
"I'm sorry, I have to go," she said afterwards. "There's an emergency at the Compound."
I smiled, hoping she couldn't see my deflated expression, and shook my head. "No, it's okay. You go. I'll leave, too."
Turning around quickly with the only thought of mine to curl in my bed and sulk, I tried to leave, but Yelena grasped my hand and spun me back around. Before I could ask her what was up, she pulled me close and kissed me.
I closed my eyes, wrapping my arms around her waist like it was second nature, and kissed her back. It was gentle, lasting only a few seconds, but my cheeks flushed and my lips were tingling when she pulled away.
"I would love to go on a proper date with you," she muttered, a smile creeping on her lips. "It's all I've ever wanted."
I began to smile, too, speechless and breathless all at once. I could have stared at her for a long time, merely admiring her pretty eyes and heartwarming smile, but I remembered her sister's call and reluctantly pulled apart.
"You should go to the Compound, it sounded urgent," I told her.
As if suddenly remembering, she breathed out and nodded. "Right, yeah."
"Let me know if everything is okay and if we need to rearrange tomorrow," I told her, going to the door. "Be safe."
"I will," she promised, unable to stop smiling, just like me. "See you, Y/N."
"Bye," I said, bringing myself to leave because if I stayed a second longer, I knew I'd end up pulling her in for another kiss.
I left and the smile on my face was permanent, I was certain.

Noisy little mess
Hi sweetie ⁓
I swear to god i'm dreaming about the future plot lately, and I chukle in my sleep since it's so funny dealing with (stalking) the Task Force even if i shouldn't laugh about the things i'm thinking about and i'm so happy to see you've got the same problem as me.
Send hugs to wherever you are ⁓
DISCLAIMERS: clean from smut, but a lot of ignoring feelings and responsabilities; GhostxReader and his will to pretend she doesn't exist (spoiler, he fails); how-to-not-doing-a-mission-safely; a sprinkle of paternal chat; Task Force being misterious about their Lt.; ghosts scared of gnomes.
..................................................
Third part here:
..................................................
You don't know how you've managed to come back safely to your room.
What you do know is that, since yesterday, your Lt is nowhere to be found.
Oh, and you've finally got menstruations. Soap is the first one who gets aware of this, welcoming you at the breakfast table with the sweetest:
«Ye're finally bleeding, aren't ye?»
Gaz throws him a bunch of towels before Price manages to save the few left, hiding them under his plate.
You sit next to Johnny. It is so rare to have the Captain at breakfast, and it is even…suspicious. You swallow your oatmeal silently, gazing at Price till he murmurs: «What is it?» that smells like coffee and late night work.
«Mmmnothin'»
He sighs, finally raising his sight at you.
«Spit it out. What's wrong?»
«Mmmh…»
He sips his black coffee while exchanging a sight war with you, who're looking at him through the spoonful of chocolate oatmeal, eyes sharpened as a knife. Price leans toward you, willing to win the challenge, when Gaz suddenly asks:
«Have someone seen the Lt? I need to give him a-»
«Speaking of him-» you suddenly burst, breaking the eye contact with Price just to make him sighs for the second times in five minutes. He raises an hand toward your face.
«If you're seeking revenge for your injury-»
«I'm not» you reply almost immediately. «Even if he was a dick»
Price scolds you immediately with a threatening: «language, rookie»
You scroll your shoulders, knowing well you can push yourself so far just 'cause they don't really care about discipline towards each other. At least not at breakfast.
«He's disappeared. So: either he really is a ghost, and he vanished; or he's hiding from me»
Gaz was about to make a joke on your words, but he suddenly stops, with his fork still stuck on the omelet.
«…what? Why from you?»
«Ye'r not that scary»
«I bet i am»
«Hold on, hold on»
Price makes his way through the speech, raising his hands to gain silence. Then he looks at you like he's watching a child trying to convince an ice cream he's not about to eat it.
«So that's what it's going on» and murmurs to himself: «that bloody liar…»
You gasp in surprise, just to make some drama, and Johnny follows your move like a Victorian damoiselle. You slam your hands on the table before Price could speak again, or try to run away from his own words, and you suddenly remember about your elbow. Painful moans are choked in your guts as you spit out a too loud:
«Explain»
And Price answer with an abrupt:
«No»
And Johnny puts out his best puppy eyes, leaning on the table toward his Captain:
«Please! We need to know!»
«We?» John looks at him like he's surrounded by chatty widows. «Why in the bloody hell would you like to know somethin' you're not even involved in?»
«At this point 's a matter of principle»
«A what?»
«We're a team, secrets can't tear us apart»
«That's not a secret»
«Than speak»
«Is it about the fact that Ghost is either tryna kill or getting acquainted with her?»
Three pairs of eyes suddenly glare toward Gaz, who once again freezes with his fork balanced toward his mouth. He smiles nervously.
«…am I allowed to feel in danger?»
Johnny answer with a too sudden: «yes»
Price takes out a cigar with nonchalance, pointing it at Garryk « So you've noticed. At least one brain in my team is not totally burnt»
«Waitwaitwait» you bring back to you the attention, raising an hand to take the floor. «Is he really scared of me? That's why I haven't seen him around in 24 hours?»
«He told me he needed to figure something out 'cause of a problem you've made». Price gives you a look. «I've thought of talking to you about it, but… I'm not blind, rookie. And now that you've speak about him fearing you…i kinda understand what it's passing through his mind»
Gaz nods in agreement. Johnny takes his time to think about it, and after ten seconds of the other two staring at him he eventually realizes something.
Something that you're not getting.
Your eyes jump on their faces with the urge of the only gamer in the team who doesn't know how to cheat. Your fingers dig deeper in the cuticles as you see the three men stand up and make their way out of the dining hall.
«Hey! You can't leave with the secret all to yourself!»
«Sorry kid»
Price pat your head before waving at you, leaving you with what's left of your oatmeal and a few, terse words:
«If he'll feels like it, he'll tell you»
He stops. He suddenly turns serious.
«Do you think you're ready to show us how reliable you are?»
You falter, mumbling: «…yeah…?»
«Good. I've got a work for you, rookie»
Documents are on his desk. Not just any pile of paper: the pile of paper, the intel they were waiting for, the information they've searched for for almost three months.
Ghost is reading the sheets again and again. Yeah, there's no doubt: it's what they've needed, and it is there, on his desk, spawned out of nowhere when he was away for a…mission. Let's call it a mission.
He should be pleased. Happy to say the least, since this kinda intel's like food from heaven for the task force.
But he's…kinda lost in his thoughts. Almost annoyed.
«Who in the bloody hell…» he murmurs as he takes a look at the sheets, not even realizing that someone else has entered the room.
«your fav rookie»
Price's voice makes him fall from his thought's tree. Ghost glares at him through the mask, inspecting his Cap who's clinging on the door frame with a lot of nonchalance, arms crossed and an amused smile on his face.
«…ya'r not meaning-»
«I am»
«Mh»
«surprised? She did an hell of a job, in a good way» he comes in, shutting the door. «She's a good one»
«yeah…»
«That's all you've got?»
Ghost almost stops to breath; his gaze at Price's like laser beam, and he has to collect enough air to blow out a stern:
«Do ya need something else? 'Ve got work to do»
And Price waste no time to smile back a:
«Old demons eat your tongue?»
To what Ghost' s answer's a growl: «mh»
Price shakes his shoulders, approaching the door to go out. «Just an impression of mine»
Ghost's voice stops him at the door knob:
«Ya'r wrong»
«Mmm, yeah? About what?»
«Stop thinking about it, i know you are»
«Tell me what to think then»
«She's not like that»
«Oh, so there is a "she" in your brain»
«Don't read into it»
«You know what's fun?» the Captain comes back, taking a seat in front of Ghost, pointing at him with his judgmental finger «You're dealing with her like she's blackmailing you, or something. Nervous smiles, stupid revenges…»
«Bullshits»
«'S that so? And how do ya call the little problem during training session?»
«A problem. That's all»
«Ghost-»
«No»
He stands, turning his back at the Captain. And that, for him, was the end of the chat.
But not for Price.
«Is not a shame falling for someone»
And the Lt. gives him the coldest glare, jerking his sight at his Cap.
«I'm not» he spit with a harsh voice.
Price doesn't move. He checks his pocket, taking his first cigar of the day just to put it through his lips and chewing the tip lightly, eyes glued to Ghost's. The Cap. nods.
«Good to know» he murmurs.
That was the end of the story. Or at least Ghost has hoped so.
Three days later, he can't help but walk through the base with his eyes fixed on every rookie who stands in his way. He had searched the dining room every morning, checked the training field, the goddamn gym in the evening, even waited for a few minutes every time he passed by her room.
Nothing.
None.
No sign of aggressive gnomes around.
Ghost sips his black coffee in complete silence, glaring at everyone for no apparent reason. He needed to end that odd feeling, those annoying jumps of adrenaline, the bad sensation that something hostile was growing within his stern, cold behavior, breaking it from the inside, scratching away the metal wrap he had built to better control every inch of himself.
And he needed to have her in front of him, speaking out loud the reasons why she was eating his insides like a virus, and asking her, gently or not, to try her best and pretend the two of them do not know each other.
Feeling things for others, either bad or good…it wasn't for him.
«Bloody little idiot…»
«Hope ye'r not talking 'bout me»
Ghost's gaze raises as Johnny joins his solitary coffee-sipping ritual. He put his mug on the table, spreading around chocolate aroma.
The Lt. recognizes it immediately: «That's her goddamn pudding»
«I'm addicted»
Breakfast brings back silent eating and mumbling on caffeine. Soap devours his oatmeal, waiting.
'Cause he knows he just has to wait.
It takes Ghost just one minute and a half to burst out a pretended unselfish:
«Maybe she has eaten that much chocolate that she's become one bar»
«Mh?»
«She's nowhere to be found in person, it seems»
«Are ye searching for her?»
«'Cause of the intel she'd collected» he rushes a justification that Soap doesn't really buy. Johnny almost absorbs his last spoonful, chewing out words mixed with chocolate:
«Price's sent her on a mission. Confidential» he adds. «Dunno 'bout details»
Oh.
That was unexpected; so unexpected that Ghost bites his tongue after rushing out a too fast:
«When?»
The spoon falls in the mug with a metal tingle; Soap's side eyes reach Ghost.
«…are ye worried?»
«No» he bursts.
«Well, we are. Me and Gaz»
That doesn't sound like a lie, and Simon has to lower his shield made of pretending-not-to-think-about-her stuff. Soap keeps on, his eyes wandering around the crowded room:
«Maybe Price's overestimated her skills, dunno…or maybe she's just not ready. 'S strange not having news after three days»
«You two do like her»
Soap sighs, shaking away from his shoulders the morning stiffness.
«She's a good one. She's fun. But she's not so skilled on the field»
«You don't get worried about every rookie's first time. Sooner or later they'll have to be kicked out of the nest»
«If the one that's been kicked out 's ma fav sparrow chick, at least i hope that it'll fall on something soft»
«She's no chick, and not my fav» he rushes again, eagerly to end the conversation and get the fuck out of there. He stands, with a chuckling Soap next to him, who knows his Lt. too well and knows he just has to wait a little more, to give him time to elaborate his thoughts in a more sensible way.
Ghost's first impulse is always imposing himself as a threatening and leading figure. It's an habit.
But this time he doesn't have time to retry his answer.
A worried Gaz appears in the dining room, rushing toward them in some sort of urgency.
«You two» he breathes out, clinging on the table while regaining some air in his lungs «Do you want the good news, or the it-could-be-better news?»
«Were ye runnin' a bloody marathon at the fucking six in the morning?»
«Good new» Ghost answer, still holding his empty coffee mug. «Always good news first»
Gaz gazes at them, elaborating his words as best as he could: «…do ya remember the no-one's-going-to-do-that-mission topic in our last meeting?»
«That sort of suicidal duty 'bout sneaking alone in a mafia boss dirty party?»
Gaz nods. «That one»
«With none to cover your arse?»
«Yeah»
«That one Laswell was tryna to figure out so bad 'cause the goddamn boss had valuable infos 'bout big weapons traffic?»
«Aha»
«But none was that stupid to try it?»
«Soap». Ghost stops his Sergeant's stream of thoughts with a glare through the balaclava. «Cut it. What's the bloody good news 'bout it Garryk?»
«Mission's been accomplished» he spits, with neither a smile nor optimism, and a strange, worried look. Soap's eyes get wider.
«Are ye fucking kidding? Who's the idiot who tried it in the first place?»
Gaz sighs.
«'S our idiot»
It takes a bunch of seconds to link the description with a face, but your silly little smile rushes through their brain almost immediately. Soap stands up so fast the chair almost falls.
«WHAT-»
«The other news » Ghost's harsh voice talks over him, with a hint of hurriness, an almost audible tip of concern that he swallows.
And Gaz wastes no time:
«Now she can drain pasta with her arm»

Creepy Crawlies
Spider-man x reader
Summary: You never expected your museum internship to be reminiscent of the Night at the Museum movies, but life comes at you fast. As it turns out, so do giant spiders.
word count: 2k
Tumblr media
“And as we round the corner, you’ll enter our history wing,” you said, doing your best to not sound entirely monotone. You knew you weren’t succeeding. Despite your best efforts, your heart just wasn’t in it. Yesterday morning, you'd been dumped.
You hadn't even been seeing the cute guy from your photography course for two weeks. You'd been on two dates with him (both of which he'd been late for) before he decided it just wasn't working out.
Well, that was fine by you. It was his loss. Really. You weren't even upset. You had hardly cried yesterday, and you didn't even eat all your ice cream. Did you spend your entire day off hiding under blankets and watching tv? Maybe, but you came to your paid internship today, despite the heavy rain, and that was what mattered.
A shout of your name interrupted the half-hearted tour you'd been giving. You wheeled around to find your boss looking at you expectantly.
"Did you forget?" He asked.
You stared at him blankly, "Forget what?"
"Addie?"
Recently the museum curator's ten-year-old daughter had taken a liking to you. Apparently, Addie's nanny had gone home to France for a month, so her mother was using the museum she ran as free childcare. The girl had taken turns with all the museum staff but decided you were the best. Thus, your superiors stuck her with you. You were reluctant at first, but Addie was good company, so you didn't really mind. Plus her mom said she'd give you a bonus at the end of your summer internship.
"Oh no," you said, eyes wide.
Your boss nodded at you, "Go, I'll take your tour." Before he was even done talking, you were jogging towards the new arachnid exhibit.
"You're late," the pig-tailed girl said. She sat on the floor outside the blocked-off entryway. Officially, the exhibit wasn't opening for another week, but Addie demanded early entry. She said that she would judge the presentation you prepared for the hall, and give you pointers on how to make it even better.
"I'm sorry," you replied, ducking under the caution tape to pull back the tarp. "I lost track of time."
The girl ducked under your arm and into the exhibit. You followed close behind, not eager to lose sight of her in an area still under construction.
"I've been told that most of the work in here is done," you started, "but it's important to keep away from anything they're still putting together." Addie did not seem impressed by your warning and began wandering toward the crowning jewel of the space.
"Woah," she said in awe, staring up at the twenty-foot spider resting on its even larger faux web. It was certainly a feat of engineering. "How'd they build that thing?"
"I think some Hollywood special effects guy helped," Addie shrugged.
"Well, it sure is freaky," you said. Creepy crawlies had never been your thing.
"No!" Addie was quick to scold you, "It's amazing!"
"Ok, I guess it's kinda cool," you conceded, "but it looks like it'll come to life and eat us."
"That's the point! My mom says it's a detailed replica of a Black Widow Spider, meant to give people a better look and dispel their fears," Addie nodded confidently.
You eyed the thing skeptically, "I think I'll have to overcome my own fears before I can help people dispel theirs." Addie rolled her eyes at you and grabbed your wrist, dragging you away from the giant spider.
"Come on, let's look around while I tell you why spiders are cool and not scary. You should add all this to your tour material, by the way," she told you seriously.
Marching you past areas on jumping spiders, giant spiders, foreign spiders, and local spiders, Addie seemed determined to change your mind about the creatures.
"Ok, they might be important, but I still think they're icky," you shrugged at her. She made a face at you and dragged you on for another few steps before you stopped. Looking at the display you tried not to shiver.
"Come on, there are more spiders to see," she demanded.
"You know, I think you're on to something," you told her. She turned to you, confused. "Spiders really aren't the worst," you barreled on, "ticks are." You gestured toward the tick display.
"Eugh," Addie said, disgusted.
"I didn't even know those were arachnids," you admitted.
"Those are worse than scorpions," she nodded along. "I don't think I've seen the scorpion section yet," she scanned around for it.
"It's over there," you gestured, "they need to glue the tip of his tail on to make him scary. Can't make him worse than our spider friend, though," you nodded towards the giant display.
Suddenly, Addie looked afraid, "you might be right."
"Are all the spider pictures finally getting to you? I've been itchy for the last ten minutes. I feel like I need to wash my hair," you shivered, unaware of the larger issue.
"Your hair's fine," Addie said, staring over your shoulder, "but we might not be."
You were taken aback by her words, "What?" Your voice gave out when you saw the twenty-foot spider crawling down off its web and towards you. Tears welled up in your eyes as you watched in crawl closer. "Run," you whispered. The ten-year-old didn't need to be told twice. She bolted out of the room and started screaming. It took you another few seconds to listen to your own advice and start after her.
"RUN," you screamed, hoping the closest visitors would hear you and heed your warning. "GET OUT OF THE BUILDING."
The spider was light. Its footsteps sounded not much heavier than that of a few bustling museum-goers. What it lacked in weight, it made up for in speed, and it was gaining on you. When you rounded the corner into the main entrance of the museum, all hell broke loose. If Addie's screaming and your hollering hadn't scared anyone, the giant black widow spider chasing you certainly did.
People who had just walked in the doors ran back out of them. A practical mob of people pushed and shoved their way through the exit. Some people entered further into the museum, vying for back doors. You were just busy trying not to catch a stray bullet as the security guards opened fire on the creature chasing you.
The warnings you'd been yelling turned quickly into screams of terror as you faced danger on every side. Stampeding crowds trying to leave had quickly begun to trample each other. More security guards arrived to shoot at the thing behind you, and you could've sworn the spider herself had just dripped venom onto you.
But how could a museum display spider have venom? And, more importantly, how could it come alive?
You didn't have time to ponder these questions as you were swiftly removed from the situation. Suddenly you found yourself standing on the second floor, looking out over the chaos.
"Addie said you might need a save."
You turned to see Spider-man standing behind you. You let out a sigh of relief, knowing the little girl was safe.
"Great timing," you said. It was all you could manage after the biggest shock of your life.
"Are you alright?" The masked man asked, seemingly concerned.
"I think it spat on me, but I really don't know how it did that because it shouldn't have organs," you said, perplexed.
"Sorry?"
"Yeah, no, this thing is a display piece," you tried to explain.
"I guess all press is good press," he shrugged. "How much did this cost?" The hero seemed surprised.
"It didn't use to be alive," you told him gravely, eyes wide.
"Got it, that makes more sense," he nodded.
"Does it?" You asked, thoroughly upset by the events of the day.
"You know what? Maybe not," Spider-man replied, turning to look at the scene unfolding. You followed his gaze to see the bottom half of a security guard hanging out of the spider's mouth. "Oh, wow, is that my cue," he said, jumping onto the railing. "Stay safe!" He pointed at you as he fell backward off the second floor.
You raced to the edge to see the masked hero catch himself with a web before landing on the spider's back. He squeezed the thing by its throat, trying to get it to spit out the security guard.
"Security guards are not a snack!" Spider-man said as he wrestled with it. "Don't make me do the Heimlich on you!"
Finally, the spider regurgitated the security guard to focus on the nuisance on her back. "Cool- it worked! Maybe that was the Heimlich."
Spider-man launched a web to the ceiling and swung off the giant spider's back. Dropping closer to the ground, he started webbing the thing's legs together. Eventually, the thing lost its balance and fell to the marble floor with a resounding thud.
"I guess I can add exterminator to my resume," the masked man said, standing over the felled spider.
He gave the thing's head a firm kick, accidentally separating it from its body. "Oh shit," he said, pulling the severed head back to him with a web.
Looking at the gaping hole its head left, the spider was obviously animatronic. You'd have to have a serious talk with Addie's mom about doing background checks before hiring people. You let out a huff.
Clearly, Spider-man's senses were more keen than you realized. He looked up to find you still standing by the railing. Using a web, he launched himself up to stand next to you.
"So, a spider just saved you from a spider," he started, "pretty meta, huh?" You gave him a courteous nod, not feeling up to joking as you looked down at the robot spider carcass.
Spider-man grabbed your shoulder, lightly turning you away from the sight. "Are you sure you're alright, miss?"
"Not quite," you shook your head.
"You weren't hurt, were you?" He took a hurried step toward you, looking you over.
"Yesterday, I was dumped. Today I got chased by a giant man-eating spider. Does it ever get better?" You asked, tears welling in your eyes.
Spider-man couldn't help but let out a little snort. Your eyes widened at his reaction. You scoffed and slapped his chest.
"Are you laughing at me?" You asked wetly.
He put his hands up in surrender, "Sorry, I'm sorry, really." You shook your head at him.
"No, you're not! This is just like the time a raccoon got in my basement," you complained, tears streaming down your face.
Spider-man had to hide his continued laughter.
"No one believed me! I had to shoo it out with a broom all by myself," you said tearily, glaring at him. The masked man was practically bent over, trying to hold his laughter. Unfortunately for you, his laughter was highly contagious. It wasn't long before you were chuckling a bit too.
He pulled himself together, "This was much worse than a raccoon. You have every right to be upset."
"Thanks," you nodded, wiping your face.
"Want me to swing you home?" He asked.
As tempting as it sounded, you weren't sure about the state of the museum. Or your job. "They're usually pretty strict about hours here."
Although you couldn't see his face, you knew Spider-man was giving you a look. "I think it's safe to say the museum is closed for the day."
"Still-"
"What would you even do? Flush the bug down the toilet?"
"That's what I do at home," you shrugged.
He shook his head at you good-naturedly, "Come on, we can stop for muffins on the way." That got you up.
Spider-man spent the following hour making you feel better post-animatronic spider attack. When he finally left you on the stoop of your apartment building, you realized you'd answered your own question. It did get better.
Too bad your stupid, loser ex-boyfriend, Peter Parker, wasn't around to see it.

demonic encounter
a demon hunting ghosts has it's meal interrupted by an amateur exorcist
content: fem prey, safe vore, hard vore, soft vore, digestion mentioned
The demon sneaked around the home, like a shadow, stalking along the walls. Carefully it followed it’s prey, who had not detected it yet.
The demon was similar to it’s prey in many ways; neither of them had a reliable corporeal form. But there were some strong differences. For example, the danger level that each had. Finding a ghost in your home was like finding a daddy long legs spider. Not appreciated, but ultimately harmless. The demon was a black widow.
The demon pounced. It grabbed the ghost and tore it apart into thin pieces of silvery whisps, then wolfing down the shredded pieces. The demon could feel the remnants of their prey wriggling, trying to reincorporate, but the demons stomach would only continue to break it down.
The demon was satisfied, for now. They picked a translucent shard from between their teeth, then continued to saunter down the hallway on all fours, their fed belly swaying back and forth as they went.
It found its way into the attic, a good enough place to rest. The demon laid down and prepared to rest and digest its meal, which was still trying to escape it’s belly. Ghosts didn’t die in the way mortal animals died; the prey would continue to struggle until it was completely absorbed, and even then the demon would feel it shift in their skin every now and then.
The demon kind of meditated, focusing its attention on their dinner. Distracted from the outside world, only interested in their internals.
Although soon the demon heard a hissing noise, they ignored it at first, but soon it was unavoidable. The demon opened a red eye. Someone was there.
The demon bolted to the corner of the room, but smashed into an invisible wall. They looked down in anger, a white circle, there was a white circle around them now
Salt
They turned back to the figure in the room. She was wearing all black, with a white thing on their collar.
Oh great, a priest.
The demon bared it’s teeth, like an animal cornered. The priest cooed, impressed.
“Look at you,” she said.
The demon didn’t want to be looked at.
“You do look scary, good job.” the priest said, “I’ve never seen one of you up close like this. You guys are usually so sneaky.”
The demon cursed at her in latin.
“No need for all that,” the priest said, “I’m sorry to upset you though, this is just such an opportunity. Why are you out and about like this? You seem very sure of yourself, you didn’t think anyone would come up into the attic?”
The demon watched her cooly. Red eyes burning with hatred.
“And you seem so sleepy… you didn’t notice me at all. What’s that about?” She asked, “is it because of…” she looked down, the demon also looked down, at their stuffed stomach.
“Is that normal for you?” The priest asked. She heard the stomach grumble and burble as it continued to process its prey.
The priest raised an eyebrow, “did you eat something? Nothing lives here, even mice will stay away. How did you find anything here? Unless you caught an unfortunate trespasser….”
“This house is haunted,” the demon grunted, “It’s good hunting.”
“Ah, you mean the resident, yes, they’ve kept it abandoned, I've been working with them for a while. You seem to have a handle on it, though. Is that what made this place attractive to you? That’s interesting. I guess that’s a good reason to get ghost problems sorted quickly - before something nasty like you shows up. No offence, of course. I mean, you’re literally from hell though. You might be one of the most dangerous beasts on the planet.”
A strong wind blew outside, knocking the window open. The breeze dispersed the salt on the attic floor. In a flash, the demon sprung on the priest, who fell to the floor with a grunt. The demon crouched over her, it’s full stomach resting on top of her. The demon relished in the priest’s wriggling beneath it’s grasp. The demon's mouth watered, as it realised it was still a little peckish.
It laughed something unnatural and guttural before opening the maw, showing the teeth that it bared at her minutes earlier.
The reverend was yelling, begging probably, but the demon didn’t care to listen. It closed its mouth over her head and the words were muffled. It gulped, happy to feel a solid, meaty, living meal travelling down their throat. It was a grisly, carnal enjoyment. Living prey. The demon wanted to keep their mortal meal alive and intact (their stomach would easily take care of her anyway). The demon inhaled sharply as it felt it’s body expand, it’s belly flesh hot, warmed by the warm blooded human inside them, like a little flame that would soon be snuffed out.
The demon was wiser this time, they retreated to a dark, undiscovered corner of the house, snug, but no one would find them here. They curled up and purred in satisfaction, conceited, very pleased that they had outsmarted their prey who had at first got the better of them, and also happy to digest a priest - possibly their only natural threat.
The priest was still talking, but the demon was happy to ignore her. Until it felt a sharp pain in their tummy. The demon growled and hissed.
“That was my cross,” their prey said, “I’ll burn through you unless you listen.”
The demon petted their stomach worriedly. “Speak,” the demon spat.
“I have a proposal for you,” the priest spoke loudly over the gurgling of the stomach she was in, “you have to let me out-”
“What do i get.” the demon demanded
“I can get you more prey.”
More prey? The demon was interested.
“Go on”
“I have an exorcist business. It’s not going great, but with your help, it could really pick up. I run a good business, and my contacts will lead you to fresh prey.”
The demon thought, “I could just digest you and find prey myself.”
The stomach groaned in response, happy with that solution.
“I could give you a really bad stomach ache” the priest threatened, “or I could even banish you, if I tried, I have salt and holy water on me even now. You’re in trouble, I don’t think you understand that. Do you want to go back to hell? I can’t imagine you’re looking forward to whoever’s waiting for you there. Otherwise, why’d you be up here-?”
“Alright alright,” the demon grumbled, “I’ll consider your offer.”
There was silence for a minute. “Are you going to finish thinking about it? I’m still in your stomach, and you’re not exactly being gentle.”
The demon was still in thought. They felt a burning again that made it yelp.
Angrily, the demon squeezed their stomach, and spat up their prey. They disappeared into the shadow as the priest recovered, coughing on the floor. It watched her, furious, seething, but also at the same time, it was interested.
“Are you gone?” the priest rasped. “I’ll be back later,” the priest said, “think about it, think about it…”
The demon watched her go, its prey scampering away, escaping. It sighed angrily. But still… an interesting offer.
Their belly cramped hungrily. The ghost, or what was left of it, seemed to have escaped.
Maybe it would be nice to have a steady food supply…

MK villains I'd like to see adapted to the MCU:
_ Sergeant Gwenn (racist neo-nazi cop that pretends to be moon knight in order to make Moon Knight look bad. Has a rat army he dresses up in little uniforms. Oh and he's a holocaust denier because OF COURSE he is. MK thinks he have a new alter for a while before beating the shit out of him once the system figures it out)
How to adapt: keep literally everything but maybe highlight MK's disgust with this man to be explicitly from Gwenn seeing everything the system is as lesser. There is this great scene where Gwenn starts out idolizing MK as this great white knight (emphasis on white) only to discover to his horror that Moon Knight his his life to save a brown woman in a sari. Then proceeds to disavow Moon Knight completely and tries to kill him. Could be commentary on how white nationalists/bigots glorify popular figures until their politics inevitably diverge. I am aware the MCU is pretty pro-cop and pro-military, doesn't mean they could pull a "bad apple" storyline.
_ Black Spectre (former Viet Nam war vet who after losing his family, job and being seen as a war criminal by his own neighbors turns to dirty politics and super villainy)
how to adapt: make him a more recent vet and kept literally everything else (maybe change the costume)
_Bora (cynical teenage former russian ballerina whose dreams are shattered when he mutation undoes her bones structure and training but gives her wind powers. Isolated from her culture and her hobby by her mutation she starts to hunt her former classmates who make it big in europe out of Jealousy. Set in the issue where MK loses their mobility to an accident and can barely walk)
how to adapt: don't go the generic Russians bad/ she's a former widow. DON'T her a far-left/tankie figure. Make her a lone wolf actor who was pushed to be where she was by loneliness but her serial killing isn't right. Contrast with other characters with mobility issues like MK and Charles Xavier. Have MK system themselves be the morally gray figure between Bora's cynical villainy and misanthropy and Xavier's model minority perfect respectability politics
MK villians I DO NOT want adapted into the MCU:
-Yussaf (tour guide that turns out is a covert terrorist. every orientalist and anti-arab trope rolled into one.)
_ Ernst (old guard nazi serial killer who pretends to be Jewish to lure in his victims. has an XMFC Shaw relationship with Marc. Do not want!)
_Raul Bushman (generic scary black man who is Marc's original nemesis. While this guy does eventually get backstory about how colonial racism made him what he is today, comics very much go out of their way to make him a creep)
but Germaine, Raul is already in Season one! Yeah and referenced as little as possible. Do you really want another Killmonger situation on your hands? No. I don't trust the MCU with POC villains whose whole point is their racist trauma it either gets whitewashed (often along with literally whitewashing the character I.E. Wanda and Pietro) or made the most trite two wrongs don't make one right route they go with Black Panther Villains.

Can women become witchers?
While in books we don't meet any female witchers we also don't find any reason of why women can't be witchers. At least not in just a process of becoming one.
First thing is that in books Ciri calls herself “wiedźminka” (female form of wiedźmin, witcher) and noone thinks twice about it. It’s important to mention that in Polish every noun has gender. And discusion about female forms is really intense.
Second thing is that when Geralt brings Ciri to Kaer Morhen it’s obvious for everyone that they COULD make witcher out of her. That’s even what Triss thinks at the very begginging.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s important to mention that in books witchers are still able to create new ones. They still have all the potions, still know recepies. It’s just that most of the witchers that knew how to do it were killed and wizards and sorceresses didn’t really wanna help them. So it was obvious that if there is a child in Kaer Morhen it means that the child will become a witcher. After all it’s what Geralt says:
Tumblr media
See? Of course it is mentioned that Ciri was the first girl in Kaer Morhen. But it wasn’t the only witcher’s keep that ever existed. And as it’s important to say that while Continent is not based on Poland, the society thinks the same as it does in reall world. That women (even if we proof million times that we are just as able to fight and kill as men are) are weaker and shouldn’t fight and they should give birth and take care of home and children. So it would be a great reason why we don’t meet female witchers. Witchers were monster killers. Strong and emotionless. Covered in scars. Doesn’t feel much girly like, does it?
Tumblr media
Here Triss mentions how the process of becoming a witcher means changing whole metabolism and hormons. She was scared that what they gave Ciri would change how she looks, especially her secondary sexual characteristics and ability to get pregnant. And Triss is a powerful sorceress and can’t have children herself because of that. So how would society react if there greedy witchers would turn delicate girls into monster slayers? Also how men would reaact if they had to ask women for help.
With that in minds let’s go back to Kaer Morhen. The witchers didn’t really know how Ciri, as a girl, was different than boys but did train her. Do you think they would do it, and even give her infamouse mushrooms to eat if there never was a female witcher before?
Tumblr media
That is propably the best part of whole saga. Triss is the one that tell them that as a girl Ciri has a period. Them, as a men that were rised by other men and naver had longer realtonship with women that actually bleed every month. And their reactions weren’t like “oh gods, it’s a girls, we can’t do this to her she’s WOMAN”. No, it were “gods, we’re idiots. of course she can’t train when she’s on her period”.
(btw I love how Sapkowski described that girls are taught to be ashamed of having periods. and that they can cry when they get first period. that shit is scary!)
Also it was never mentioned that only boys were trained. It always was children.
Tumblr media
Here it’s even highlined that the child that survived was male. And it’s a Child Surprise. Not Son Surprise. So I think that it’s save to assume that someoone could become a witcher no matter their gender. But they would just have to remamber that they HAVE TO treat girls in other way.
My theory is that most popular Trials were based on what works for men. On male hormons, male bodies. And as trials were dangerouse it’s easy to assume that girls had higher death rate if whole proceduere was dedicated for men. Honestly, it’s a problem with modern medicine because it’s designed for male patiens.
A little off canon the School of Cat is mentioned as one that trained female witchers. And it makes total sense! Trials were a little different for every school. And Cats were trained as fast, agile. Perfect as hitmans. Of course it sounds like something that would works for women. In my theory they could create witcher version of Black Widows! And in my head it makes total sense. What do you think?
And of course I didn’t come up with this whole thing because I’m thinking about writing a story with my female witcher OC... No, not at all.

tell me about bugs ! /lhnp
Aah ty for the ask this is so general there’s so many facts and things um (edit I didn’t mean to write a whole essay you don’t have to read the whole thing)
Recently I’ve been enjoying learning about spiders which is ever so slightly ironic considering how afraid I was of them and how I still am a bit scared to come across ones I’m not familiar with. Learning about them makes them so much less scary though. A lot of the most venomous and scariest spiders are actually relatively docile and won’t bite unless threatened or they’re a mother with babies. In the US there hasn’t been a death from a black widow bite in 40 years bc their bites are rare and able to be treated. A lot of venomous spiders can actually administer dry bites too or control the amount of venom they inject which is super cool. Since their venom is used to kill prey, when they bite a human it’s usually just in self defense so a lot of bites from deadly spiders aren’t actually that dangerous. Ofc it’s still imperative to seek treatment just in case you have a reaction or they did inject venom (although you’d be able to tell there’s some nasty symptoms). Most cases are able to be treated, too, with anti-venom and while not a pleasant experience they’re rarely deadly.
I feel like there needs to be a picture here to break up this post so uhhhhh here’s a bunch of bees on a clover ( and a Yellowjacket)
Tumblr media
One of my other interests rn is misconceptions/misidentifications. Which ig ties into spider bites. One common myth is that daddy longlegs spiders are super venomous but their fangs are too small to bite humans. This is very wrong for several reason uhh first is that daddy longlegs is a super broad term used to refer to cellar spiders (actual spiders of the araneae order), harvestmen (arachnids in the opilione order so Not Spiders), and crane flies (these are literally flies as the name suggests. They…. They aren’t spiders they have wings they aren’t venomous. Although they do have long legs). Cellar spiders are a little venomous but their venom poses little harm to humans (just a typical insect bite yk) and they rarely bite humans. Harvestmen actually don’t have venom and don’t have fangs just hollow claws used to grip. Which can’t harm people.
anyway harvestman are the absolute silliest guys I love seeing them bounce around

Another quickl thing (I promise I’ll stop soon you invoked a topic I’m incapable of being normal about and gave me no limitations or anything so I’m on a ramble there’ll be no survivors etcetc) is also about flies. A lot of people assume those itty bitty sweat bees that hover around you at the park or whatever are actually more likely to be hoverflies (instead of a real sweatbee)! They only have one set of wings (unlike a bee) and no they can’t sting. I told this all to my friend at a concert who was being very annoyed by the one following her around and after explaining them and marveling over the super cool patterning of the calligrapher flies (specific type of hoverfly) they actually came around and admitted they’re very cool and it was a lovely moment bc once you know more about something then you can accept it more yay woohoo.
Tumblr media
^ the black and yellow is deceiving it only has the one set of wings. If you cared the one pictured is a maize calligrapher specifically . Very common in the US and Canada.
Oh and I got a millipede tatto did you see :]

🍁 👻 🦇 for the asks! Happy halloween 🎃
🍁 - what is your favorite thing about halloween?
The dressing up by far. I get really intense about it every single year, I always go for accuracy and I am so proud of my costumes, cause I never buy anything and I make my own shitty props from cardboard and I love the process of planning and making the costume. I sound like a costume snob but I just get really excited and obsess over mine, I don't judge other people's lol. I've gone as Black Widow, Heather Chandler, Moriarty, the housewife from Why Women Kill and this year I'm going as Jonathan Sims my beloved!! I'm gonna draw eyes on one side of my face in black eyeshadow, coming down on to my arms, I've got the business casual work wear down including the sweater vest, I've made myself a tape recorder and a web lighter out of cardboard and I've obsessed over this for WEEKS. I sound insane but none of my friends are as into it as I am so im taking my chances where I can find them lol.
👻 - do you believe in spirits/ghosts?
Not really, I'd like to believe in friendly ghosts but honestly the idea of being trapped here after you die is terrible and I wouldn't wish that on anyone so I don't believe in them. It makes listening to tma a lot easier as well, cause killed based horror I can't deal with but paranormal? It's not gonna happen so I've got nothing to be worried about. But, there is a chance I'd be killed by a serial killer. You know? But yeah I'm a fan of nothing after we die but maybe that'll change.
🦇 - do you like haunted houses?
Oh god no I went to one with my friends like a year ago and immediately turned and walked out. I'm already an anxious person I don't need more anxiety lol. I like the idea of doing one with your friends that's more gaudy than scary cause that'll be a laugh but honestly I don't need to be made scared when I am already constantly scared.
THANK YOU FOR THE ASK CEASELESS LOVE U
