Sonic Boom - S3E13
Chapter title: Schrödinger's Hedgehog, Part 1
Summary: The truth about Shadow is revealed, and some problems are solved…while others are made worse. Will a team of five emotionally inexperienced people be able to do what needs to be done?

[This episode begins without any kind of a cold open, jumping directly into the introductory sequence.]
[Shadow is not present in the part with the rest of the heroes, but their team shot is still structured as if he were there, making the absence very noticeable.]
[Instead, he appears in his old villain intro, with just his stripes and angry eyes visible. However, after a second or two, his eyes change into a much more nervous expression, and dart around briefly.]
[Then, the rest of the sequence continues, complete with the episode title at the end.]
When Tails had called the others, they’d all rushed into his workshop immediately, fearing the worst. “What’s wrong, Tails?” Amy had cried. Sonic, somehow, didn’t say a thing. Instead, he darted over to Shadow, clearly concerned for his rival-turned-friend.
What they found, however, was something far stranger than what they had expected.
At Sonic’s gasp, all five teammates gathered around Shadow, staring at his exposed hand. It didn’t look like anything they’d seen before—in fact, it barely resembled any of their own, except in general shape.
Starting from the middle of Shadow’s forearm, his black coloration ended and a strange silicone material began. It was a dull and semi-transparent grey (except for his arm stripe, which was pale red), with wires threaded throughout it, weaving around a central piston that extended up into the rest of his arm. His hand was made of the same silicone, and contained five segmented metal bars that extended through each of his fingers in place of the usual hand structure. They ended in five wickedly sharp steel claws that looked as though they could slice through Eggman’s badniks like they were made of warm butter.
Everyone stared until Sticks broke the silence. “He’s been replaced by a robot!” she screamed. “Who knows who they’ll come for next?!”
“Oh, don’t be silly, Sticks. What I want to know is, since when has Shadow had a prosthetic hand?” Amy asked, confused.
Tails frowned. “I don’t know, but however he got it, this is a seriously advanced piece of machinery. It almost perfectly mimics a real hand!”
While Amy and Tails discussed this revelation, Sonic eyed the way the piston in Shadow’s arm seemed to extend past what he could see somewhat suspiciously. Sure, maybe that was how prosthetics worked and he just didn’t know it, but something wasn’t quite adding up to him.
Running on that gut feeling, he pulled off Shadow’s other glove…
…to reveal a second synthetic hand underneath.
A momentary silence fell as everyone stared again.
Knuckles blinked. “So was Sticks right about him being replaced by a robot?”
“I don’t know about replaced, that just doesn’t feel right, but maybe…aha!” Tails exclaimed. “My scanners were calibrated to organic material, not inorganic! Let me try again.”
The entire team waited with bated breath as Tails’s machinery began to analyze Shadow one last time. The loading bar on the screen seemed almost excruciatingly slow as it ticked upwards a centimeter at a time.
And then, there was a map of Shadow’s insides for everyone to see.
It still didn’t make perfect sense, since there were large parts of Shadow simply listed as “unidentifiable material”, but now it was perfectly clear that he didn’t have one (or even two) prosthetic arms. Shadow was, somehow, an android. An android with Ancient markings on some of his frame, to boot.
Tails looked torn between freaking out in shock and freaking out in excitement. “Chaos, that actually makes perfect sense!”
“Uh…what makes perfect sense, bud?” Sonic asked.
“You guys remember how Shadow knew all this stuff about the Ancients—like with your mech, Sonic? Well, a while back,  Amy and I discovered that Mighton and Bolts are actually Ancient robots with ridiculously advanced AIs.”
“Oh yeah! Plus, now that I think about it, he seemed kinda awkward earlier when we were all talking about our opinions on robots.” Sonic added.
“So what I think is, since the robots of Roboken are so…lifelike, mentally, why couldn’t the Ancients have made a robot that looks like us as well as thinks like us?” the engineer finished.
“Why would they want to do that?” Amy asked.
Tails shrugged. “I dunno. Maybe just because they could?”
“But how does any of this help us fix him?” Knuckles said, looking upset.
“Because…” the fox said proudly. “I may not know how to fix people, but I sure know how to fix robots!”
The entire team cheered at that, even Sticks.
“Alright!” Tails declared. “Guys, I need all of you to go back to Shadow’s cave and find anything that might help me fix him. Meanwhile, I’m going to hook him up to my computers and see what else I can figure out.”
“On it!” Sonic said, saluting. He rushed out the door with everybody else in tow, leaving Tails alone in the lab.
With an unconscious, highly advanced robot who also just happened to be his semi-friend.
“This is one of the best days of my life.” he whispered.
Fifteen minutes later, once he’d managed to access Shadow’s brain wirelessly, his computer crashed.
(And so did his mood. At least temporarily.)
Tails sighed, rewiring some ports in the back so that all of his various devices could share processing power. Then, he tried rebooting it and reconnecting it to Shadow.
Immediately, he received about twenty different error messages, including a [Files Incompatible: Open anyway?] request.
He selected [Yes] hesitantly, and then gasped as row after row of files filled his screen. Most of them were names he didn’t even understand…because they were all written in Ancient.
Tails scrambled for the original and translated copies of the robot manuscript that Amy had made him, hoping that he could use them as a sort of decoding mechanism for what he saw on screen. Thankfully, they did indeed make it a little easier to understand the writing—and the parts he could read were all incredible.
Shadow had an absolutely insane amount of files just for his sense of smell, let alone his optics and auditory sensors. And that wasn’t even touching his actual cognitive programming.
Once he’d finished geeking out, Tails ran a full diagnostic of Shadow’s body, and discovered the problem. The house had fallen on him in the right position to somehow…disconnect some of his processing capability? It didn’t entirely make sense, and Tails spent the next few minutes deep in thought.
Suddenly, he came to a realization. Very slowly, he clicked on the file labeled with what he hoped was the Ancients’ version of ‘opacity’, and crossing his fingers, he turned the slider contained within most of the way down.
And with that, the entirety of Shadow’s ‘fur’ faded to the same dull, transparent grey and pale red.
Beneath the rest of his silicone body, endless wires and metal framing lay. Even his eyelids were transparent (and Tails thought it was slightly creepy to see him staring blankly through them, if he was being entirely honest). And in the center of his body pulsed a bright blue crystal.
Looking closely, Tails could see that one of the clamps attaching a wire to the crystal had completely broken, leaving the wire detached. He knew at a glance that it wouldn’t match any of the clamp types he had—it was a completely unique make.
Unfortunately, that meant that all he could do now was wait for his friends to come back.
The other four were all busy searching through the boxes in Shadow’s cave, hoping to find something that matched what their engineer friend had seen inside him. Nothing seemed to fit the picture Tails had sent, though, and they were all starting to lose hope.
Sonic wandered throughout the cave, past the place where they’d found the mech. Only a little farther along, a rough bedroom was set up, and it made Sonic a little sad to see how poorly Shadow was living even compared to Knuckles these days.
Then, he noticed the corner of another cardboard box poking out from underneath the bed. Scrambling forward, he pulled it out, barely noting the carefully lettered label: Emergency Parts.
“Guys!” he yelled, already digging through the electronics. “Guys, I think I found it!” The others gathered around him just as he held up a clamp triumphantly, and Amy quickly matched it to the picture Tails had sent.
It was perfect.
Immediately, they all raced back to Tails’s workshop, the blue hedgehog making no effort to be gentle as he slammed the entire box down on the table. “Can you fix him?” Sonic asked, looking over at the android nervously.
“I think so?” Tails said hesitantly. “I spent some time searching through his command files and found a couple things that might help.”
He pressed a button, and a section of Shadow’s silicone covering pulled back to reveal his internal wiring. Carefully, Tails pulled out the broken clamp with his fingers (since there was no tool that matched the ones the Ancients had used) and replaced it with the new one. Then, the engineer pulled out some of his most delicate tools and gently reset the wire in its housing.
After a moment of careful inspection to make sure nothing was out of alignment, as well as a quick voltage check, Tails set the silicone covering back in place and sat back with a sigh. “We’ll just have to hope that he’ll be able to fix the rest on his own from here.” he said quietly, watching Shadow’s still body along with the others.
>>System malfunction: Corrected_
>>Rebooting_
Shadow gasped, sitting bolt upright.
He took a trembling breath, out of habit more than anything else. Looking around, he saw that he was in Tails’s (currently empty) lab. He relaxed marginally at that—so he was among friends. Good.
…Immediately afterwards, he remembered to feel embarrassed about how easy it was for him to feel safe around the other five these days.
Now then, what was he doing here? The last thing he remembered was saving that little girl from the house, and then everything went dark. As he looked around, however, he suddenly found that feeling of safety ripped right out of his head—
—when he noticed that his coloration had been dialed down to only twenty-five percent opacity. No matter whether it had happened during his injury, or afterwards here in the lab, it meant that the team knew.
As Shadow looked around with increasing terror, automatically running a self-diagnostic, he noticed that one of his clamps was registered as having been recently replaced. That must’ve been what knocked me out, he noted faintly. The most terrible part of all of it, though, was the fact that there were files filling up the entirety of Tails’s screen.
His files. The files that made up the personality of the creation named Shadow.
How long had they been looking through his head?!
Shadow terminated the connection instantly, his eyes flashing with a mixture of hurt and fury. And here he’d thought he could trust these heroes. They’d called him their friend. He scoffed to himself furiously, ignoring the betrayed pain building up inside him. He had been a fool.
And it was then that Tails appeared at the door.
The android bared his teeth defensively, leaping off the table and into a fighting stance.
“Guys?” Tails squeaked. “I…I don’t think Shadow’s happy with me…”
Suddenly, the rest of the team piled into the room, making Shadow take a sudden step backwards.
“You okay, Shads?” Sonic asked worriedly.
“Do you need anything?” Amy added.
Shadow snarled at them, his shoulders hunching. “Liars. Traitors! Don’t bother pretending you all still like me.”
“What?” Tails said, his eyes widening.
“You heard what I said!” he barked. “I know you all rifled through my head like a—a storage cabinet! Did you like what you saw? Was it fun?”
“No! No, Shads, we didn’t look at anything, except what we needed to fix you! We’d never!” Sonic cried, visibly taken aback.
“Sure.” he scoffed. “As if I’d believe that now.”
And with that, he vanished.
The team scoured the entire island in search of Shadow, but he was always one step ahead of them. After several hours of searching, they were forced to take a break, regrouping at Amy’s house.
“How does he keep on escaping?” Knuckles sighed, currently collapsed on the couch.
Tails frowned. “As long as his power source doesn’t die, he can theoretically keep going at the same pace for as long as he wants. We just can’t match up to that kind of persistence.”
Sonic began to type on his communicator even more quickly than usual, belying his stress. “Well, we might not be able to, but I know someone a little more experienced than us who could find him.”
“Nobody’s a better tracker than me!” Sticks cried.
“You are the best tracker we have…but you’re tired right now, and we need more people with different skills to find him.” Amy pointed out.
“Fine.” the badger huffed. “So who’s he calling?”
Sonic watched his communicator intently as three flashing dots appeared on the messaging app. “Someone who owes me a favor.”
Several minutes later, Vector kicked the door open. “Never fear, the Chaotix Detective Agency is here!” he cried.
“Agency?” Amy asked skeptically. “There’s only one of you.”
Vector smirked. “Well, sure. Last time you saw me, there was! But I’ve been asking around, putting up some ads on ConnectIn, and I managed to find these guys!” He stepped aside to reveal a chameleon dressed in stereotypical goth clothing and a hyperactive bee.
“He didn’t actually find either of us on ConnectIn.” the chameleon added. “I sought him out, and he just stumbled upon Charmy over there by pure chance.”
“Ohhhh wow, are you guys the heroes Vector told me about?” Charmy gasped, flying all around them excitedly.
“Yeah, they are. But right now we’re on the job, got it, pal?” Vector said, gently pulling the kid back to his side.
“Got it!” Charmy chirped (and then immediately grinned at the team the moment Vector looked away).
“Yeah, so this is Charmy, our resident scout, air support, and mascot,” Vector explained, “and this here is Espio. He’s got some cool ninja skills, so he helps me out too. A lot, if I’m being honest.”
The chameleon promptly turned invisible, making the other five gasp. “So cool…” Knuckles whispered.
Espio then reappeared, now with a slight blush on his face. “Thanks.” he said quietly.
“Now then, just sit back and relax!” Vector said cheerfully. “We’ll find your guy in no time, I promise!”
‘No time’ turned out to be exactly three hours and twenty-two minutes. During that time period, Amy managed to stress-bake two batches of banana muffins, Tails and Knuckles half-heartedly played a board game, Sticks was busy hiding the banana muffins in various ‘apocalypse caches’, and Sonic wore a circular hole in the rug.
All five of them nearly hit the roof when the Chaotix called Sonic’s communicator.
“Hey, Sonic!” Vector said. “Listen, we found your guy, but we have one tiny problem.”
“Yeah? What is it?” Sonic asked, his foot tapping rapidly.
Espio appeared in the picture. “He’s camped out in an old Ancient ruin, and he’s switched all of the defenses on. I was the only one who could get within forty feet without laser cannons trying to blast me to bits.”
“And we didn’t sign up to get blasted to bits!” Charmy chimed in.
“I, uh, I hope this won’t affect our payment?” Vector added hopefully.
“No way!” Sonic said hurriedly, eager to get on with things already. “I called you guys in to find him, not to bring him back here. Just send us the coordinates and we’ll call it all square, okay?”
Vector grinned. “It’s been great doin’ business with ya, Sonic! If you ever need something found again, just remember us and we’ll help you out!”
In the background, they could hear Charmy singing something that sounded an awful lot like “Team Chaotix! They’re detectives you want on your side!”
“Thanks so much, Vec. See ya!” Sonic said, signing off.
“Alright.” Amy said, punching a fist into her other hand. “Now all we have to do is get Shadow back.”
“That’s easier said than done.” Tails said, looking nervous. “I just got the coordinates, and this is a temple nobody’s even discovered before. It could be really dangerous.”
“Oh yeah? We can handle dangerous!” Knuckles said cheerfully.
A montage ensues in which the team prepares for the ordeal ahead. Tails gathers up all of his equipment, while Sticks does the same with their homemade monitoring devices. Amy smashes a few targets with her hammer, Knuckles practices his burrowing form, and Sonic adds some extra sports tape to his ankles.
Then, the scene cuts to the team approaching the ruins. They smile confidently and begin to charge in an epic slow motion shot—only to end up screaming and running back in the other direction when the laser cannons start firing.
“Alright, scrap the ‘Epic Hero Entrance’ plan.” Sonic wheezed. “Tails, you go ahead and disable the cannons. The rest of us can wait until you’re done.”
The fox dashed across the field, his tails whirring at top speed. After a few tense minutes, in which he was forced to work while plastered against the wall to stay in the cannons’ blind spots, he stuck out his hand with a thumbs-up as the machinery deactivated.
Knuckles inched out onto the field carefully, and when he wasn’t immediately turned into a scorch mark, the others followed behind him. Tails managed to open the doors not long after they reached his position, and they all braced themselves for the trials ahead.
Next up was a…completely empty hallway?
At least, it seemed that way until Sticks held up their hand, sniffing the air warily. After a moment, they blew chalk dust into the hall, revealing the laser beams that crisscrossed the way forward. Carefully, the badger dodged each and every beam until they made it to the other side, their foot automatically pressing a panel that deactivated the beams.
After that, there was a memory matching puzzle that ended up being solved by Amy, which took her a few tries to get right. As soon as she finished, she did a quick celebratory dance—before remembering that she was supposed to be the serious one, and if any of you think about mentioning that ever again, first remember the ten out of ten targets I hit with my hammer earlier.
Then, they were faced with a few riddles that Knuckles got right with his oddly specific riddling skills, and then (of course) a giant labyrinth with about twenty different hallways spiraling off it in every direction imaginable. Yes, that did include one pointing directly upwards. Sonic sped through each and every path until he found an exit that didn’t lead to a pit of flames, a pit of snakes, a spike trap, a pit of piranhas, or any other kind of murder-inclined pits. Then, he shot off a guided flare that Tails had provided to show the way, and the rest simply followed the glowing trail directly to him.
Carefully, they all lined up, staring down into the darkness ahead. A faint light emanated from the end of the hall, showing them the way they hoped would lead to their missing friend.
[screen fades to black]
[This time it’s Tails complaining. “Aw, come on! Another cliffhanger? We’re almost to the best part!”]

— plumber!jake x (kinda)perv!reader mdni.
plumber!jake (tiktok link) who comes over to check up on the new shower you had installed. compared to the last mechanic that came over, who was much older, jake isn't what you expected at all. he's actually.... really attractive.
the way he carries himself while checking every inch of the bathroom, making sure everything is right in place. you insist on staying by him with the excuse of "wanting to learn along" but it's really to stare at his arms flexing as they twist a knob to test the water pressure, or push against the wall to measure its sturdiness.
"i'll just try out the shower head, and then i'll be on my way." you frown at his words. is he really leaving so soon?
luckily for you, he miscalculates and ends up spraying himself entirely. "shit!" he exclaims.
"oh no," you say with faux-concern. "do you want an extra shirt? i'm sure my roommate wouldn't mind if you borrowed his."
jake wipes his face. "are you sure?"
you smile sweetly. "of course."
you rush to jay's room hoping he won't notice one of his shirts missing. he's always buying new ones anyway, he probably won't be bothered if he even realizes it at all. when you come back to the bathroom, you toss him the shirt and pretend to back away to give him some space.
meanwhile, you're only flushed against the wall, staring back at him through the mirror which gives you the best view. god his abs. he must workout even outside of his job.
your hand trails down your stomach naturally, your eyes glued on the scene unfolding in front of you. jake flicks the shirt a couple times before pulling it over his head, but you don't mind the delay — it's what you're here for. watching the way his muscles flex as he pulls the material up and over makes your cunt grow warmer, so you rub delicate circle over your clothed core to soothe it.
"what are you doing?" his voice snaps you out of your daze.
"i'm– uh, i'm—"
"were you watching me get changed?"
yes! "no! i wasn't!"
jake raises a brow at you, unconvinced. "you know," he says with an unrecognizable tone, but it makes your insides twitch. "if you wanted to see me shirtless, you could've just said so." his teasing isn't over as he chuckles at the sight of you. he can clearly tell it's so much more than just seeing him without his shirt.
you squeeze your legs together, completely giving yourself away.
that's his call to step forward, grab the back of your head, and smash your lips together. his tongue runs over your bottom lip, so you open your mouth to welcome it inside.
you moan in harmony into the kiss, panting against each other while your hands messily grab on each other's clothes. you grab the hem of the shirt he just put on and pull apart from him just to rip it off of him. he does the same with your blouse.
"fuck, you're beautiful," jake whispers, his eyes respectfully focused on your bare breasts. opting out of wearing a bra was a good idea. jake's hands go to squeeze them, using his hold as leverage to flip you around before guiding you to position you against the counter, facing yourself in the mirror.
drool drips from your lips, your cheeks are flushed and sweat soaks your forehead. heat danced beneath the skin of your waistline as jake's hands make their way to pull down your pants and panties.
you wiggle your hips in anticipation and he chuckles at them. it works to make him move faster, though, because the next thing you hear is his belt unbuckling.
instinctively, you turn your head to look at him pulling out his hardened cock. jake's hand interrupts you admiring him as it forces your gaze to meet his.
"since you love to stare—" jake roughly grips onto your hair, pulling your head up so you can make proper eye contact with your reflection. "—you're gonna be a good girl and watch yourself while i make you feel good. got it?"
you nod impatiently, ready to bend at his will just to feel him inside of you.
after everything, you're just hoping your shower breaks down again. any excuse to see him (his dick) again.

You were a smart student, you knew your stuff. Which is how you got here, a scholarship. You were perfect in just about every way, you were smart, graceful, top of the class, and did volunteer work after classes. You worked at the swimming pool during the summer and the plant nursery whenever you could. You were the dream. And the worst part?
You knew it.
You knew the looks you got, but you played it like you didn't. You knew your window lock wouldn't suddenly break, you knew someone had broken in. You noticed when things were moved, but you played along. Along into the sweet little fantasy whoever was trying to spin you into. You installed hidden cameras and watched them in the morning every time you actually slept at your own apartment, you watched as someone entered your room and just... admired you? You were honestly expecting worse, you were expecting a lot worse if you were completely honest. But you didn't know who it was, so you shifted the cameras and that's when you figured it out.
You locked yourself in your closet, the only place with no windows other than the kitchen, and watched the footage. You watched him enter, you listened to him speak and call you a sweet little thing and play with your hair. You could see his gentle smile and you could just feel the love drunk energy from him. You squinted your eyes then you saw it, you saw those green streaks and you smirked.
"Clever boy, what a clever little thing."
You praised Sol as he showed you his math test. Another one. Your hand nestled in his hair and you could feel him tense up under you as that blush stretched over his cheeks. You watched him look away and cover his face with his hand and you faked a pout and showed him your eighty-five percent.
"I did horrible Sol," you whined out and forced your bottom lip to quiver, "I really studied for this one..."
You had a mock sad tone in your voice as you looked down, your hair shifting as you did. You could see him move to comfort you and his hands gently rested on your shoulders, "H-Hey," you listened to him stammer before he calmly explained that you did your best. That's what matters. You leaned into him and gripped the back of his shirt, mock tears in your eyes as your shoulder's shook. Mimicking a cry as you buried your face in his chest, "I-I really tried... I-I don't know what's going on," you forced out with a sad tone, your voice cracking slightly as you did. You felt his arms dip around you and wrap around your waist as he held you close, "m-my grades are just dropping now," your words came out with a whimper as you pushed yourself closer to him, keeping up the act of upset princess, you looked up at him. Tears in your waterline as your bottom lip quivered, "am... am I stupid now Sol," you asked. Watching as he looked down at you with such a tender expression you couldn't help but almost surrender this game you were playing.
"No... no of course not," he whispered as one of his hands came up to your head and delicately pushed it against his chest, "it's just a rough patch. It'll be okay, it's all those holidays recently, that's all."
He promised as he rocked the both of you, you could see your friend close by. You locked eyes with her and gave a little smirk as you rolled your eyes and made a false cry before mouthing 'little games are back' before burying your face in Sol's chest. You felt him hold you tighter and you gently tightened your grip on him, you could feel his heart beat against his ribs and it made you grin. Eventually you pried yourself from him, hiding your face with your hair as you gathered your belongings and laced your fingers with Sol's as the two of you walked towards the library. You needed books for a class, which also gave you another opportunity to act like you needed Sol. Huffing, you reached for another book. It was with in your reach, but you purposely acted like you couldn't reach.
"Sol," you whined out and batted your eyelashes at him, "can you grab that for me?"
You asked with a little jump, making sure to coordinate your movements in such away that the book you wanted was just out of reach. Pouting you stomped your foot slightly and huffed before you felt Sol right behind you, you smirked and watched as his arm went above you and grabbed the book. You whisked around and gave him a hug, "oh you're the best," you exclaimed. Your voice happy and excited, as if he had just done the impossible for you. You felt his hand rest on your shoulder and you looked up at him, you saw him looking away and knew exactly what you were doing to him. Grabbing the book from his hand, you made sure that your fingertips brushed against his arm as you reached up and you leaned your body against him before you finally grabbed the book.
"You're the best Sol, you really are, you're like- the best person ever, and you're super duper smart," you said your voice like honey as you tucked the book into your back and picked it up, "oh I know! Could you tutor me?"
You asked as you tugged your bag over your shoulder and looked over at him, watching his eyes become puzzled and his body tensed as he tried to comprehend what you had just said to him. You watched the gears turn until he figured it out, you watched his face turn a beautiful shade of red and him look away. You knew what the answer would be, 'of course, what subjects?' you knew his sweet little facade all to well. After all, you were playing it too.
The last bell sounded like a starting shot at races, you packed your bag and sent a quick text to Sol; asking if he wanted to hang out. You were meant with an immediate response and you smiled softly before waiting at the school gate. When he came into view you acted all sorts of excited to see him, you bounced on your toes and laced your fingers with his as you lead him towards your apartment. You smiled as you walked around the back with him, telling him you just wanted to check on the little kitty you found the other day, and forced a frown when you didn't see it. Though there was actually a kitten back there the other day, you had already found it's parents, and it was just a ploy. You noticed where the grass seemed to be flatter and ran your fingers over it, helping it stand up right.
"Sol, look at this, a deer must've laid down here last night."
You spoke with a giggle as you pointed out the imprint, you watched as he tensed up and hid your smirk as you watched him try to usher you inside. Saying something about how you must be cold, you couldn't help but laugh as he gently pulled you into your own apartment. You excused yourself and changed into a hoodie and leggings, honestly it wasn't planned. It was just what you were comfortable in, you threw your hair into a bun and sat next to Sol. You pulled out your math books and smiled gently as he started to talk about how to do the math problems you were "having issues with". You nodded and listened intently, you let your hand "accidentally" rest on his thigh as you leaned forward and laid your head against his shoulder. At the end of the study session, you walked him to the door and gave him some food. It was supposed to be your lunch for tomorrow, but here you were, you'd honestly just buy lunch tomorrow at school. It wasn't a big deal, you promised, as you urged him to take the food. Which he did eventually take, you smiled and gave him a tight hug before watching him walk away. You shut your door and then settled on the couch, you turned on a shitty rom-com and watched it until you were bored. You honestly hated those things, but you laughed at every corny joke and made an effort to make yourself look like you were enjoying it.
Later that night, an hour or so later than when you actually went to bed, you were listening to music. Bopping your head around as you cut your eyes towards the window, at the general location you knew he would be. The imprint, which you took a guesstimate at it's location, wasn't far from your window so you just smiled sweetly and then went back to your music. You weren't aware of how quickly he ducked behind the tree and how he clutched his chest or how his blush was bright enough you could've used it as a flashlight. Honestly he wasn't even sure if you even knew he was there, you did, or if you knew if it wasn't a deer but him, you knew, but he let out a shaky breath when your bedroom lights went off. He waited a few minutes before hiking your window open and climbing in, he stood in front of you and pulled his mask down. You heard him approach and felt him sit beside you, so you decided to play a little game with him. You furrowed your brows and muttered out his name in your "sleep", you could hear the gasp that came from him and how his fingers gently brushed over your cheek to feel you against his skin.
"I'm here Pumpkin," he mumbled back, "right here."
He sounded like he was promising that he'd be there when you woke up, you knew he wouldn't be so you shifted close to him. Still feigning sleep as you whined in your sleep as you felt his hand leave your skin. You felt him gently put his hand on yours and his breath against your skin, "so pretty," he muttered before his lips connected with your neck. You could feel how gentle he was trying to be, you could feel how he was trying not to leave a mark as he licked, gently bit, and sucked on your skin. You could feel his want for you through how he breathed and how tender he was, so you let out a little whimper.
"Shit..."
You heard him curse when he pulled away, you felt him stand up and heard him rummage through your drawers. You could hear his panic as he whispered, "where the fuck do they keep their makeup," you heard him yank open another drawer and it clatter to the ground. You stirred in your bed and then you heard nothing. It was a good five minutes before you felt him settle next to you again, his fingers gentle against your neck as he applied concealer to your neck. Hoping you wouldn't notice the hickey in the morning. You kept hearing him mumble about how pretty and perfect you were before he fell silent. So you whimpered out his name in your sleep again, you felt him clutch your hand and press a kiss to your head. You felt his lips trail down your face before he hesitantly pressed a kiss to your lips, a smile stretched across your lips and you stirred in your "sleep" again. You heard him sigh and then whisper out, "I have to go Pumpkin; I love you," before he left. You felt his hand leave yours and the sound of your window sliding open and shut. You waited a few minutes before you navigated through your apartment to the bathroom, you delicately removed the makeup and smirked slightly at the dark mark on your skin. You gently traced the delicate skin and knew what you were doing tomorrow.
You walked into school with a pep in your step, your hair pulled up and away from your neck as you showed off the hickey from Sol. When asked about it you gave a halfhearted shrug before you told them it was a curling iron accident, which most believed. You went about your day until lunch, where you watched Sol freeze in place before you called out to him. You watched his mind buffer for a moment before he continued over to you. Hyugo pointed out the hickey and you cut your eyes at Sol, who choked on his lunch, before you laughed it off and said it was the weirdest thing. You thought just kind woke up with it, but figured you just burned it on the curling iron that morning when you were too tired to comprehend what was going on.
It was a few weeks later when you finally decided to catch him in the act. Humming softly to yourself, you shut your blinds and went about your nightly routine. You hummed softly as you fixed a false body into your bed, made of pillows, some towels, and a wig. You flicked your light off and waited in a dark corner. You watched Sol quietly enter before you took light steps behind him, "Sol," you whispered out as he whipped around. Your delicate fingertips rested against his chest before you pushed him onto your bed, your legs gently straddled his as you sat on his lap. You held his upper body up by his sweatshirt and pulled his mask down.
"How long do you think you could do this for Clever Boy?"
You questioned as your eyes scanned his flushed face, you watched his eyes flick around as he fumbled through words. A sadistic grin crossed your face as you gently took his neck in your hand, squeezing softly before you pulled him close. Your nails digging into his back as you grinned as his dazed out look made a shiver go down your spine, before you clicked your tongue at him.
"My, my, you're pathetic Sol. Utterly pathetic."
The whine that met your ears at your disapproval of him and his actions. Delicately you lead his hand to your waist and you felt his pulse sped up under your fingers, making you laugh.
"God... Getting all worked up, just by touching my waist Sol? God, you're sick..."
You spat, making him look away from you. A mad look in his eyes before you jerked his head back, his face centimeters from yours as you growled lowly.
"I didn't say you could look away Sol. Don't fucking look away from me, don't you dare."
You said, your commands making his eyelashes flutter.
"H-How," Sol started as he tried to hold eye contact with you, "how did you know Pumpkin..?"
His voice came out barely above a whisper and you laughed before pushing his upper body against the bed. You looked down at him with a snarl.
"I'm not an idiot, you moved my food and drinks. Put sleeping medication in them, I'm not an idiot Sol. There's camera's everywhere. I know everything you've done in the past month Sol. So come on, tell me why. Tell me why you did it."
You demanded as he fumbled for answers, though the only pathetic words that left his lips were "love you" and you just wouldn't take that.
"Oh hunny," you coo'd as you pulled him back up and held his face in your hands, "you're sick pathetic bastard. There's no way I could love someone who decided to mark me at night, when they thought I was asleep."
Your voice came out so sweet, but that didn't stop his eyes from getting sad and looking away. If you couldn't love him, why didn't you call the police? Or move? If you couldn't love him, why're you holding him like this? Your hands on his face and sitting in his lap. He was so confused he didn't register his arms wrapping around you, or how you pushed his head against your neck until you spoke.
"So why don't we try that again, hm? Mark me while you know I'm awake Clever Boy..."
Your finger's played with his hair and he delicately kissed you, making sure not to hurt you as he held you tight. You grimaced at his delicate nature and grabbed a handful of his hair before yanking it back, you heard a whimper and saw how his eyes filled with tears.
"If you're not going to take care of me, then I'll find someone who will."
You threatened as you began to get up. Just as you were standing he pulled you back into him and whined, "n-no I can," he whined and buried his face in your neck. Lapping and sucking at the skin, pulling a content hum from your lips. You whimpered softly when he bit down at the skin, that's when the dynamic changed. His hands pulled you closer to him, and he got more aggressive with his assault on your neck. Your whimpers turning into soft moans before you whimpered out his name, a groan came from Sol as you whimpered again. Your eyes rolled back and you gripped at his hair again, this time gentle and desperate as you shuffled closer to him.
"Fuck... you sound so pretty Pumpkin..."
You whimpered quietly at Sol's whispered words your body moved closer to his and you whined softly. You wanted him so badly right now, to feel his touch against your skin. Is this how he felt? Desperate and needy for your touch? You don't remember when he had you underneath him, or when your pajama pants were yanked off but you do remember how his face was buried in your neck and how he whined when his cock was fully inside you. You clung to him, your nails leaving irritated red streaks down his back as he littered your skin with gentle bites and hickies, you choked out a moan when his hips snapped into you. You sobbed out in pleasure, making him stop. You whined and squirmed when he stopped before he kissed you, "are you alright," he murmured out as he gently pulled away from the kiss and stared lovingly down into your eyes. Yours were tear filled and desperate as you nodded, god why did he stop? Was this a punishment? Was he teasing? No... his hands gently held your face as he kissed you again, his thrusts gentle and loving as your eyes fluttered shut. Your arms went around his neck and you pulled him closer, you wanted to feel every inch of his skin on yours.
The morning came and your eyes fluttered open, you were dressed and you smelled pretty. You smelled like your shampoo and like something else... you couldn't even think about it correctly. You couldn't place the smell, and you started to think it was all just a wet dream. You couldn't find anything on your camera's other than you falling asleep. You honestly couldn't remember how you even thought of that for a dream, it upset you the entire walk to school. You didn't think anything was off until Sol wrapped his arms protectively around you and you remembered that gentle touch. You jumped at first before your body unconsciously melted against him, it was then your best friend pointed out the hickies that were poking out from your collar. You flushed a deep red, an actual blush. You couldn't remember the last time your heart beat that fast, which brought a chuckle from Sol as he murmured against your neck.
"You're adorable Pumpkin, did you at least enjoy our fun last night?"
Those words convinced you it wasn't a wet dream and you wanted to curl up and die, smacking Sol's arm you brought a laugh from him and a goofy smile before you felt him kiss the top of your head. You loved this so much, you loved being held, but maybe you only loved it because it was Sol.

Summary:
The prince smiles and plucks the lute from his limp fingers, carefully setting it down next to the bed. Eddie can’t recall when he stopped playing. “Look at you. Not just easy on the eyes, but smart to boot. Knew I made a good choice with you.”
Those graceful fingers are on his face now, caressing his cheekbones on either side, slipping into his curls, and Eddie’s insides are warm and light.
“My prince—” he starts to say, but that pretty face twists into a scowl and a soft finger pushes against his lips.
“Let’s try something new, Just Eddie.” Those beautiful eyes are alight with mischief, a temptation dangling just barely within reach. “When we're like this … Can I be Just Steve? Do you think you can do that?”
Something inside Eddie coils.
“Steve,” he whispers against pink lips. The name is sweet nectar, the juice of forbidden fruit on a hot summer day, a sin and a secret and an oath.
Steve smiles and the sun rises in the moonlit room.
Eddie says his name a thousand times more on that night and the nights that follow.
---
In a world where the king is worshipped as the living embodiment of the sun itself, two boys learn to navigate life in their golden cage.

[🏵️; 𝐬𝐨𝐥 𝐝𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫 - send in any prompt from this list and a character and i’ll write a short blurb based around the prompt!] for that could you do the sex tape prompt with pope and hes flustered kinda 😊🎀
YES!! this might be my favourite prompt ever with pope.. i love u nonnie
Tumblr media
pope’s got a bruising grip on the fat of your ass, not purposefully, you’re not sure he even realises it by the way he’s holding his phone in his other hand, shaking a little as his face heats up, sweat clinging to his hairline, eyes trained fully on where your pussy swallows him whole, his senses overwhelmed by the little noises you let out each time he hits that spot.
your back arches deeper and he groans, bringing the camera closer to where your tight ass and pussy meet. “jesus christ..” he mutters, thrusting his hips harder for emphasis as you grin, turning your head around to face him and his mind goes blank.
mascara pooling under under your eyes and the remains of tears clinging to your lashes, lips wet and teeth glinting as you grin at him, “so fuckin’ good pope… you’re doin’ so good.” your praise seemingly spurs him on as his thrusts pick up, his hips slapping deafeningly against the fat of your ass as you whine, your hands gripping the sheets helplessly.
his eyes flick between the screen and the real you, the recording button pulsing, and he swears he feels you clench in time with it, he’s so caught up in the moment he’s not sure anymore. when you reach down to rub against your throbbing clit as you reach your peak. “please pope! please.. needa cum!” he groans out helplessly, spilling his hot seed into your tight cunt, trying desperately to keep the camera focused while he’s overwhelmed with pleasure, your pussy still gripping him like a vice, milking him for all he’s worth.

┌─── ・ 。゚★: *.🌙 .* :☆゚. ───┐
Donnie huffed a short laugh against her neck, “Somehow different from the hundreds of thousands of other couples that come to your shrine?”
April nodded, “Yeah. It was, I don’t know, sadder for some reason. They just had that type of vibe, Dee.” Donnie pressed another kiss to her skin and pulled away. Fixing his hold on her waist, April sat with her legs straddling his lap and her arms resting on his shoulders. His eyes, so dark and wide, reflected the myriad of stars that encircled them and illuminated the comfortable space between them. April always did have a fondness for his eyes. She remembered the day when they first flashed bright and looked at her with a gentle shyness she hadn’t expected to see from the God of the Night.

so i was going through the entirety of prime defenders again and bizly had asked the boys what kind of music their characters would listen to, and condi (unless I'm misreading it) basically said that vyncent wouldn't really have an opinion on the music of prime, and that got me thinking 🤔
i imagine in the early days, the boys having the music talk, about what they like and shit as a means to try to get closer. and when vynce says that he doesn't listen to music??? dakota and william are baffled. astounded. blindsighted, even. william had at least assumed that vyncent would bring up the music of his home world, but he just,,, didnt.
"you really just have those headphones to cover your elf ears at school?" dakota asks.
"you mean my earmuffs?" vyncent responds. "i didn't know they did anything other than cover your ears."
so the other two make it their mission to find the music that vyncent likes. subtly playing songs that they like in their rooms, just loud enough to be heard through the paper thin walls of the base. when they're in the car together, they take note of which songs he smiles at and bobs his head to, and they add it to the playlist that they're trying to make for him. they send him links of specific ones, and if he responds positively to it, they add those too.
eventually, this culminates into dakota and william exploring new genres in an effort to find vyncent's vibe. william starts finding more singer-songwriter and stripped back music he likes, and dakota finds out that he really vibes with dubstep and DNB.
after weeks of research and carefully gauging vyncent's reactions, dakota and william end up presenting the playlist they specifically curated for him, but it seems to be more of a mix of all of their tastes than any of them anticipated.
"should we show him now?" dakota asks william as they finish with the final songs.
"yeah, now's as good a time as any," he responds, looking down at his phone. the words prime defenders chaos are lit up on the screen, followed by an extensive tracklist.
they both walk up to vyncent's door and william knocks. after two seconds with no reply, dakota knocks again, a little too loud and a little too fast. he's clearly excited.
vyncent opens up to see his two friends looking at him suspiciously and quirks up an eyebrow. "uh, hello? wha-"
"we have something for you!" dakota interjects, practically bouncing as he waves his arms in front of him.
"yeah, we made something for you," william smiles, and vyncent waves them in.
they all sit on vyncent's bed, and william reaches to put a pair of headphones over vyncent's ears. he reels back and puts a hand up.
"just trust me," william assures.
the headphones go on and william presses play, and a familiar intro fills vyncent's ears. he smiles broadly at his friends.
"I REALLY LIKED THIS ONE," he shouts, not realizing that the other two can hear him just fine. they just laugh as vyncent starts to tap his foot and move his hands in time with the song.
they all end up just starting a listening party, laying down across vyncent's bed, all with their earbuds in and listening to the same playlist. no words could be spoken to express how much vyncent loved the gesture. the silly grin that wouldn't leave his face was confirmation enough to dakota and william that he was in heaven right now. his eyes close as he wiggles to the rhythms, holding his hands up to cup around the speakers of his headphones.
dakota nudges william, who opens his eyes to look at him. the redhead simply raises his fist and bumps it with his friend.
"mission accomplished," dakota mouths to william. the ghost boy simply nods as another song starts.
"OHMYGOD I REMEMBER THIS ONE TOO," vynce shouts as he shoots up, looking over to his friends.
seeing their warm expressions, he tackles them both into the bed in a big group hug. "THANK YOU SO MUCH."
thank the gods it was muffled by the blankets and their earpieces, or dakota and william would go deaf.

Sonic Boom - S3E16
Chapter title: Sinking Feeling
Summary: Finally, things seem to be going back to normal for our heroes. Unfortunately, for them, 'normal' involves dealing with Eggman's usual schemes…and this time is no exception. Simultaneously, Tails struggles to deal with the damage dealt to his plane during last episode's events. ((SO sorry this took me so long to upload!! As an apology, here's a double update for you all. Hope you enjoy!))

[Camera opens on Tails’s workshop, before cutting to the interior.]
Tails groaned, banging his head lightly against the side of his beloved plane. “Soniiiiiiiic, why are none of my fixes working? She’s still not acting right!”
The blue hedgehog in question hopped up from his seat on the other side of the room, where he’d been lounging and goofing around on his brother’s computer. “Uh, Tails? You do remember that out of the two of us, I am very much not the engineer here, right?”
“I know, I know, I just need a fresh perspective, or—or something! Anything! I’ve been trying all sorts of ways to repair the internal wiring, and nothing’s helping!”
Sonic frowned, looking over the plane with a critical eye. “You said it got busted up just a couple ‘a days ago, right? When we took it up to Roboken to help out Shadow?”
“Yeah. I’d never really expected an occasion where I needed to use the plane’s vertical grappling system for that length of time, and when I took off the undercarriage covering, it was a little bent out of shape. But it wasn’t hooked up to many of the main systems, so it shouldn’t have damaged anything. Unless…” Tails froze suddenly, his eyes growing very wide.
“You thought of something, pal?” Sonic asked, once the fox had stared off into space for an amount of time he found suitably concerning.
“Yes, but—that just can’t be it! If I’m right, then that means the grappling system damaged the motor that runs the entire plane! How were we even able to fly down from Roboken if that was the case?!” Tails rushed back over to the underside of his plane, rooting around amongst the wires. “I didn’t even check this because it seemed downright impossible!”
After a moment or two of searching, he went still. “Well. Looks like we sure did find the problem.” the fox sighed, stepping out from under the plane. “I’d found a way to use the extra heat from the combustion chamber to power the winch that controls the grappler—basically, I turned an inefficient thing into a helpful thing.” He simplified his explanation quickly when Sonic’s eyes threatened to glaze over, remembering that he wasn’t talking to another engineer. “But, because the system was attached to the motor, when it got pulled out of place, it dragged the motor out of alignment along with it. We just got lucky that when the grappler snapped back into place, it kind of shoved the motor back in there—but that was only a temporary fix, and it’d be incredibly unsafe to rely on it any longer!”
“Soooo…long story short, the plane can’t fly anymore?” Sonic asked, raising one eyebrow.
“Yeah.” Tails said sadly. “The plane can’t fly anymore.”
[Sonic reaches out and pats Tails’s shoulder awkwardly, while the fox looks up at his plane with drooping ears.]
[Cue intro sequence…which goes off without a hitch, just like last episode! Everybody gets their own cool intro, as per usual, plus the team shot at the end.]
[Dr. Eggman does his old villain reveal, complete with the green screen malfunctioning. However, this time it’s caused by a small electrical mishap, which transforms comically quickly into a full-blown electrical fire. Eggman looks like he’s extremely tired and strongly considering just giving up on the reveal entirely.]
[The intro then continues on, before ending with the title of this week’s episode.]
Later that morning, Tails could be found pacing back and forth on the sandy beach outside Knuckles’s house, muttering to himself. While he thought and planned, Knuckles and Sticks had a splash fight in the water, Amy read a nice novel under an umbrella, and Sonic…Sonic was burying Shadow under the sand. He had let the blue hedgehog dig him a hole and cover him up completely, since he didn’t need to breathe, and was enjoying his respite from the sun. (He was technically a computer, after all, and computers were notoriously incompatible with hot weather. Why he’d been given black fur in spite of this fact, he never understood.)
After Amy had made it through two chapters of her book, only to still have Tails pacing back and forth out of the corner of her eye, she sighed and sat up. Placing a bookmark in her book and laying it off to the side, she got to her feet and called her friend’s name. “Tails? Why don’t you come over and sit with me for a while?”
The fox didn’t respond, too lost in his thoughts to hear her, so she tried again. “Tails! Are you alright?”
When he failed to respond yet again, Amy stepped right into his path, forcing him to notice her or walk directly into her. She folded her arms, waiting for him to look up.
…as she probably should have expected, he instead ran into her and nearly knocked both of them over.
“Oh no! I’m so sorry, Amy, I didn’t see you there!” the fox exclaimed, practically wringing his hands as he looked up at her.
She sighed, smiling wanly down at him. “Tails, it’s perfectly alright…just please take a break from all your pacing and stressing. The beach is a place to relax, not to worry yourself more!”
He sighed, biting his lip with one of his small fangs. “I know, I just feel so bad that my baby can’t fly! She’s grounded, and there’s nothing I can think of to fix her.”
“Well, I’ve actually read that not consciously thinking about a problem can help your brain figure it out faster.” Amy said brightly, always eager to provide her friends with helpful advice. “It’s something about shifting the issue out of your conscious mind that helps people work out what’s wrong.”
“Wait, really? That’s kinda cool, honestly! I guess it couldn’t hurt to give it a try, especially if it means that I’ll get things fixed faster…” Tails conceded.
Right as he admitted that, Knuckles and Sticks came rushing out of the ocean, violently startling everyone else with the way they were shrieking their lungs out. “C-c-c-COLD!!” the badger wailed, diving onto the hot sand and splaying their limbs out. Knuckles followed suit, sighing in relief.
“Aw, don’t tell me you guys are scared of the water now!” Sonic complained. “I need all of you to keep an eye out for me when we’re dealing with that, not getting freaked out too!”
“First of all, Sticks said ‘cold’, not ‘aaaaah’, so we can safely presume that neither they nor Knuckles are frightened.” Shadow corrected him dryly, having sat up at all the noise. His usual smug behavior was slightly offset by all the sand still in his quills, though. “Second—you’re scared of water?”
Sonic froze up abruptly, his smile far too wide and strained. “Ahahaha, well, you see…”
“That’s not important right now.” Amy cut them off before they could start bantering and derail the situation entirely. “The ocean always feels cold compared to the sand, what’s so different about it now? Surely it can’t be that bad!” she insisted, walking over and dipping a toe in—only to pull it back with a yelp.
“That’s not cold, that’s practically freezing! What’s going on here?” she wondered aloud.
Moments later, her question was at least partly answered…when the ocean froze over entirely.
The entire team stared out at the ocean in disbelief, hardly able to process the sight of their beloved blue water now transformed into a mass of cold white ice. Sonic was perhaps the only one who wasn’t utterly horrified, muttering “I’m not sure if that’s better or worse…” to himself instead.
“Tails, can you analyze the frozen water?” Shadow asked after a moment, snapping everyone else out of their stupor. “We need to learn what caused this as quickly as possible.”
“Ah! Yes, right away!” The fox eagerly pulled out his multi-purpose device, shifting it into scanning mode and waving it over some of the ice. “Huh…this says the water has strangely high concentrations of liquid nitrogen. No wonder it froze over so fast, liquid nitrogen can freeze almost anything!”
“Now all we need to know is who did this and how to fix it, and we can get our beach back!” Amy said, punching a fist into her other hand.
Tails sighed. “To do that, we’re going to need to track the source of this nitrogen. And since we can’t see what’s causing it from here, we’re going to need to cross the ice.”
“We’re not gonna be walking out on that, right?” Sticks asked warily. “‘Cause we don’t know how thick that ice is, and I’m not about ta have it break under me and wind up back in there!”
“Yeah, sounds like we definitely, absolutely shouldn’t go out there. Like, ever.” Sonic blurted out quickly, clearly very eager not to risk his safety on anything even remotely water-related.
Tails’s ears drooped. “If my plane was working, we could just fly out and see what was the matter, but now, we won’t be able to search at all!”
Knuckles frowned, thinking hard. “What’s wrong with it again anyway?”
“The engine is completely busted. It’s unusable, and without it, nothing else will work!” Tails cried, frustrated. “It’s not exactly easy to find plane engines out here, and I set the Build-It Box to update before I knew I’d need it, so I can’t even use that!”
“What about your other plane?” Shadow asked. “I figured you just liked this one best, surely the other one is still functional at least?”
Everyone turned to stare at him. “His what now?” Sticks said, voicing what the entire team was thinking.
“The…the other plane.” Shadow said hesitantly, shifting his stance and crossing his arms tightly in response to all the eyes on him. “The purple one, the Tornado. I saw you using it while we fought L—that idiot snake.”
“Oh yeah!” Tails’s eyes widened in recognition. “It’s sad, but that one crashed and sank in the lake. It’s basically unrecoverable, unfortunately. We’d need to do some relatively delicate work to get the engine out, and we can’t pull that off while wearing our diving suits.”
Shadow raised an eyebrow at that. “And? I don’t need a diving suit.”
“Ohmygosh, you’re right!” Tails gasped, visibly perking up. “Does that mean you could get the engine out of the Tornado for us?”
“Indeed it does.” Shadow inclined his head slightly, a proud smile on his face.
“Well then, what are you guys waiting for?” Sticks asked. “Let’s get that thing so we can have our beach day back!”
[cut to commercials]
When the show returned, all six heroes were standing at the edge of the lake, looking down into its depths. Sonic was much farther back than everyone else, still having vivid memories of nearly drowning in this particular body of water.
Tails pointed down into the lake. “This is the side we climbed out on after the plane crashed, which means it must be closer to this end of the lake. How long can you stay underwater before things start to…go wrong?” he asked hesitantly.
“I’ve never tested it to that extent, but in theory, I can stay down for an indefinite period of time. The only issue would be if I sustain an injury deep enough to expose my wiring.” Shadow explained, weighing the screwdriver that Tails had given him in his hands.
“So just be careful down there, and everything should be fine, right?” Amy said, telegraphing her movements as she gently placed a hand on Shadow’s shoulder.
“Exactly.” Shadow said, smiling faintly at her concern. “Now then, I should probably get going before the ice grows any thicker.” And with that, he dove into the water. Sonic flinched and his eyes widened, standing on tip-toe in an effort to see better into the lake without actually having to get any closer.
Beneath the lake’s surface, Shadow swam deeper and deeper towards the bottom. The lake was strangely shaped—it was almost akin to a massive well, perfectly circular but also extremely deep. It took Shadow nearly a minute and a half of swimming just to make it to where the plane was mired in sand at the bottom. (Thankfully, the show was able to represent this in a carefully edited sequence of less than five seconds, otherwise precious airtime would have been wasted.)
He quickly managed to unscrew the paneling near the front of the plane, pulling it aside with ease to reveal the water-filled inner workings of the Tornado. And then, with slow, careful movements, he began to remove the engine from its housing.
Meanwhile, above the water, Sonic had already begun to pace back and forth on the sand.
“You know he’s going to be fine, right?” Amy asked. “He doesn’t even need to breathe down there.”
“Sure, he doesn’t have to breathe, but so many other things could go wrong! What if he gets zapped by the Tornado and shuts down? Or if he gets stuck in the wires and can’t swim back up? What if there’s quicksand and he’s sinking under it right now?!?” Sonic cried, his voice pitching higher and his steps getting faster with each new nightmare scenario.
Suddenly, Knuckles stepped in front of him and held the hedgehog’s upper arms lightly, effectively stopping him in his tracks. “Then we’ll go rescue him! The five of us together can get him out of any problem for sure.”
Sonic sighed, looking away. “I sure hope you’re right about that, Knux…”
Suddenly, his ears pricked up at a call from Tails. “Guys, look! I can see Shadow swimming back up now!”
Moments later, Shadow burst out of the lake, the jets from his skates vaporizing its surface into an impressive cloud of steam. Landing with a roll, he stood and presented one perfectly intact biplane engine to Tails with a self-satisfied grin.
“Woo-hoo!” the fox cheered. “I’ll install this right away, and then we can get to fixing the ocean!”
“Yay…more water…” Sonic muttered to himself, his smile shaky.

Once Tails had fixed up his plane, the team all climbed onto it, having to struggle only a little to all fit. Sonic was seated securely in the back seat, Amy and Knuckles took the wings, and Shadow and Sticks clung to the landing struts as the yellow biplane soared over the massive sheets of ice. “Do you see anything yet?” Tails shouted. “I can’t look for the machine, I have to focus on flying!”
Amy held a miniature pair of binoculars up to her eyes, squinting out at the horizon. Sticks did the same with her hands, while Shadow simply shook his head and increased the zoom on his sight slightly. Despite his advantages, however, it turned out to be Amy who found it first. “Tails, turn left! It’s out that way!” she cried, pointing off into the distance.
The fox fiddled with some settings on his plane, trying to scan for any strange electromagnetic readings…and suddenly, his scanner began to beep loudly. “Thanks, Amy! I’m definitely picking something strong up in that direction!”
As the team drew closer, Shadow frowned in an effort to make something out—and then rolled his eyes, pressing a palm to his forehead. “It’s the doctor.” he announced, rubbing at the space between his eyes in exasperation.
“I mean, who else would it really be?” Sonic quipped, smirking. His expression abruptly fell, however, when Tails dipped the plane lower, making as though he was coming in for a landing. “Uh, Tails? We’re supposed to be staying up here in the air where it’s safe, right? Thin ice and all?”
“Sorry, Sonic, but I’ve checked this area on the radar. All the ice is thick enough to support our weight and the plane’s. We need to get in closer if we’re gonna disable this machine!” his little brother called out.
“Why did I ever decide to become a hero again?” Sonic lamented, trying his best not to look down as the plane slowed and landed a cautious distance away from the machine and the Eggmobile hovering near it.
The rest of the team hopped off the plane, wobbling a little but generally managing to find their balance. Sonic, however, stayed safely inside, unwilling to even so much as touch the ice.
“Oh ho! I see you’ve discovered my latest nefarious scheme!” Eggman declared proudly. “May I introduce to you…the Mean Freeze Machine!” He bowed with a flourish, gesturing to an odd tank with tubes feeding from it into the ocean. “As you can see, this particular creation of mine is rapidly covering the ocean in ice, making everyone’s beach days just a little extra cool.” He allowed himself a smug smile at that particular pun, despite the fact that it even pushed past Sonic’s hydrophobia to get him groaning. (At least it didn’t take more than a quick glower at Orbot to get him praising Eggman’s wit. Cubot’s remark of “I don’t get it?”, on the other hand, very nearly earned him a one-way ticket over the side of the vehicle.) “With this machine, I can hold everyone’s beach days hostage, effectively ruining what little appeal this island has! They’ll have to hand the village over to me if they want their precious ocean back!”
“You…you want to ruin people’s beach days?! That’s not cool AT ALL!” Sticks shrieked, launching themselves directly at the Eggmobile. Eggman promptly screamed and pulled up on the controls, but this didn’t deter the badger—they simply switched to attacking with a bow and arrow instead of teeth and claws.
“Tails, can you reverse the effects of the machine?” Shadow asked quickly.
“Yeah, I can, but you’re gonna need to buy me some time!” the fox replied, already flying over to the device and pulling out some of his tools.
“Oh no you don’t!” Eggman yelled, still dodging Sticks’s arrows. “Robots, attaaaaaaack!”
Shadow, Amy and Knuckles all sprung into action, dispatching any badniks that dared to approach Tails with ease. Sonic, however, found himself slipping and sliding every which way across the ice as he finally leapt out of the plane and attempted to run, not having Amy’s balance, Shadow’s skates, or Knuckles’s…well, knuckles…to use to ground himself.
While Sticks took a brief moment to reload, Eggman gloated at the sight of his archnemesis struggling to stay out of the robots’ way. “Having an ice time down there, Sonic?” he called.
The blue hedgehog growled to himself through gritted teeth, his ears flicking back briefly in frustration. He was making an embarrassment of himself in front of all his friends!
Before anyone could look his way, he was thankfully spared that indignity when Tails cried, “I got it! Now we’ve just gotta keep Eggman away until most of the ice reverses itself!”
“Nice work, pal!” Sonic cheered. “That can’t be too—” He was abruptly cut off by a loud creaking sound, as though a giant had just stepped on a loose floorboard.
And then…slowly but surely…the ice began to break apart.
“Oh, shiiiiiAAAAH!” Sonic screamed, abruptly dropping to all fours as his particular section of ice began to wobble in the rapidly melting water. “No no no no no, not again! Don’t tilt, just please don’t tilt…” he chanted under his breath, splaying himself out like a starfish in a desperate attempt to maintain his balance.
Tails jumped up, getting airborne as quickly as possible in an attempt to save his brother—but then, his attention was drawn away by Orbot and Cubot bickering as they attempted to sabotage his plane, having just been dropped off there by a nearby Eggman (“Be useful for once and don’t let them get away!” he was yelling) while the doctor continued to dodge Sticks’s furious attacks. Frantically, he looked back and forth, uncertain of what to do.
“Tails!” Shadow barked, dropping into a defensive stance. “You defend the plane! Rose, Knuckles, guard the machine. I’ll get Sonic.”
The fox hesitated briefly. “Promise?”
“Of course.” Shadow assured him.
And with that, Tails flew off and began to shoo Orbot and Cubot away from his plane, rapidly running some pre-flight checks and ensuring that they hadn’t dealt any significant damage even as the ice floe shrank around him. Meanwhile, Shadow used his skates to leap across the various pieces of ice, resorting to Chaos Snap when the distance was too great.
Before long, he’d landed on Sonic’s patch of ice—and abruptly regretted it when his weight made the surface wobble and the blue hedgehog proceeded to scream loudly enough to overload even his audio processors. “Sonic, you’re not dying!” he exclaimed, cautiously making his way over to the terrified hero.
“Yes I am!” Sonic cried, shaking violently and pressing himself a little more flat against the ice as Shadow reached for him, refusing to be moved for fear it would tip him into the ocean.
Shadow sighed, getting down on one knee next to him. “Do you really think I’m going to let anything happen to you?”
“I dunno.” Sonic muttered petulantly. “Can you defeat all the water?”
“I don’t need to do that. What I can do is dive as deep as necessary, Chaos Spear any creature, and swim without surfacing for hours. I will keep you safe, I promise. Just please let me get you out of here.” Shadow insisted, his voice surprisingly gentle.
“…you really mean it?” Sonic asked, looking worriedly up at Shadow, his ears pinned back and everything.
“Of course I do.” Shadow said. Then, without any warning whatsoever, he picked up Sonic in a princess carry, before skating and teleporting them back across the ice to where Tails had just finished warming up his plane.
As Shadow set Sonic down in the back seat of the biplane, the blue hedgehog turned slightly green and clamped a hand over his mouth, groaning in discomfort. “Unless it’s to get me outta the water, never teleport me like that again…I don’t know how you handle it.”
Shadow shook his head, snickering at Sonic’s plight. “Hmph. Are you finally admitting that I’m more skilled than you?”
“No!” he yelped, leaping to his feet (but notably staying inside the plane). “I just…don’t need that dumb teleportation stuff to get around, so I never bothered with it!”
Shadow was about to retort when Tails cut in. “Uh, guys? Maybe we should focus on actually getting in the air so we can pick everyone else up? Preferably before the rest of the ice melts?”
“Yeah. Yeah, you’re right, Tails, that’s a great idea. Let’s do that right now.” Sonic said quickly, sitting down again.
The fox revved up his plane, taking off into the air, while Shadow teleported up to one of the landing struts, where he could reach down to help pull the others aboard. Amy and Knuckles resumed their prior positions atop the wings quickly, but Sticks complained bitterly about not getting to properly wreak vengeance upon Eggman for ruining her beach day and for making those terrible puns.
“At least his machine’s busted now, I guess.” she muttered, watching it sink to the bottom of the ocean as the last of the ice melted away.
“No! My Mean Freeze Machine!” Eggman wailed. “I put so much work into that! You’ll pay for this!”
“But I can’t! I don’t even have any money!” Knuckles called over his shoulder, as the team flew away.
“I didn’t mean it literally!” the doctor yelled after them, even though they were long out of earshot.
“I knew that, Boss!” Orbot said hopefully.
Eggman folded his arms and huffed. “Well, I wasn’t talking to you.”
Orbot drooped sadly, electing not to say anything else to his incensed creator.
Now that the day was saved, the six heroes were back on the beach, and most of them were having fun once again. Sticks and Tails were building a terrifyingly well-constructed sand fortress, while Amy and Shadow inspected and identified the various fish that could be found in the shallows around the area.
Sonic, meanwhile, was lying under an umbrella and trying (read: failing) not to cringe every time the sound of the waves crashing on the shore reached his ears. Knuckles, who had been neatly organizing some shells he’d found, paused when he noticed this, coming over to sit next to his friend.
“Sonic?” he began, prompting the hedgehog to sit up in a flash and shoot him a too-big smile.
“Hey, Knux! I’m doing fine, a hundred percent a-okay! How ‘bout you?” he said, his tone falsely chipper.
“You remember what I said earlier, when Shadow was in the lake? About how he’d be fine, ‘cause we were all there to rescue him if he needed it?”
“Uh, yeah, that was just an hour ago. What about it?” Sonic asked, confused.
Knuckles smiled at his friend. “He’s not the only one we’re all here to rescue. You know that, right?”
Sonic looked up at the echidna for a moment, then over at his friends. There was Tails, who had pulled him from that very same lake, and Amy, who had honestly done her best to help him by finding him swimming lessons. Sticks had insane survival skills, Shadow could hold his breath forever, and Knuckles…Knuckles would be there to ground him and remind him of everything his friends could do when they really put their minds to it.
The hero smiled, lying back again on his towel, but without any of the tension from before.
“Yeah. I do.”

Modern Witcher AU: My Headcanons (part 2 of ?)
Jaskier was put in a ton of winter sports as a kid. He knows how to ski and ice skate very well. He can snowboard but prefers skiing.
Geralt, on the other hand, never learned to skate. He and Eskel have not been able to find skates that fit their boot size since they were teenagers.
Geralt likes yard work more than other household chores. He likes maintaining the garden and arranging a nice living space to hangout in and Jaskier is very appreciative.
Jaskier is usually super busy in the winter months. He attends get togethers, dinners, parties, etc. Geralt does the opposite. He and his family head home for some time to relax and catch up with one another after being on the road. They don’t often do big activities or social events, mostly staying in the house with each other for the duration of their stay.
Geralt, Eskel, and Lambert shared a room until Geralt started to get into his teen years. Their childhood room had a bunk bed for the two oldest boys and a single bed for Lambert. Lambert eventually took over Vesemir’s office and it was converted to his new room. Now, they each have normal bed frames that sit on the floor.
Geralt wears a dark brown, felt, pinch front cowboy hat. He is very attuned to the etiquette and superstitious beliefs around wearing one.
Eskel and Jaskier are the same height (6’0)
Geralt is 6’3 but often people assume he’s shorter. He slouches when he sits and tries to take up as little metaphorical space in the room as he can. When he stands up, his posture is straight as a board and this adds to the surprise many people feel when they see how tall he really is.
Eskel is the opposite. He has a large but warm and inviting presence when he enters a room. He makes himself known and takes up a lot of space with his big personality. People often assume he must be taller than he really is and are often surprised when they stand next to him and see eye to eye.
Lambert is 5’11 and bitter about it.
Eskel has textured, somewhat oily skin but shockingly left his acne struggles in his teen years.
Geralt was blessed with little to no acne most of his life—including as a teenager.
Lambert hasn’t quite grown out of it and still gets the occasional (relatively mild) blemish. They usually appear when his disposable razor starts to get dull and begins to irritate the skin--Geralt tries to get him to invest in a safety razor, to no avail.
All three boys share a bathroom at Vesemir's house and Vesemir has his own tiny ensuite bathroom. He doesn't care if they trash their own space as long as it doesn't start growing mysterious molds…
Everyone having different hair colours (especially Geralt) meant that it was difficult to blame each other for hair left in the bottom of the tub/sink. But oh did Lambert try.
They are banned from using Vesemir's bathroom unless they absolutely have to. The shower however, is non negotiable. It is off limits altogether.
The only exception to this rule is when any of the boys are sick. When one of them is ill, Vesemir sets them up on the floor with blankets and a pillow so they don't have to keep running to the bathroom in the middle of the night. It also helps that he can keep an eye on them and monitor if they start getting worse or need to go to urgent care—Eskel was particularly bad for lying about not being sick for a long time.
As a child Geralt would wake up every night in the middle of the night from the dead of sleep and be afraid to fall back asleep on his own. He always climbed to the top bunk where Eskel slept and he felt safe. If Eskel wasn't there or he didn't want to wake him, Geralt would walk to Vesemir's room to fall asleep in his dads bed where he felt just as safe. It took him a long time to grow out of this habit.
Even though his boys are all grown up, Vesemir would never turn them away from any sort of "childish" comfort, especially when they're going through a particularly hard time. If they ever needed a hug or wanted to fall asleep in his room, all they had to do was ask.

omgomgomg hi. you can write abt this if you want but having miguel being a dad and his kid being sassy. and then reader is like trying to calm the peace?
thank you so much !!! you can do this if you want !
yesss of courseee! i tried to do this the best i could but this is such a cute request tyy! requests are also opennn!!!
warnings- reader is assumed to know spanish, parent! miguel, fluff!
enjoyyyy !
you didn’t know what was more annoying. the fact gabi couldn’t sleep which led to her sleeping in yours and miguel’s bed (she was tossing and turning too much), which led to the two of you not sleeping or her bickering with miguel over her wanting to join a mission.
the two of you were already sleep deprived from the night before and gabi not cooperating with wanting to stay home didn’t help.
“mija, por favor intiende!!!” miguel’s voice was cracking. you never ever thought miguel o’hara would be this stressed to the point where his usually deep and calm voice would crack like a teenage boy’s.
“mamiiii! por favor, can i go! it’s so boring at home and i wanna go with you guys to work,” gabi said while sticking her tongue out at her dad.
the usual routine was gabi staying at home with an ai babysitter miguel created for her not to stay bored as you two went to work and did the usual; fight anomalies and look good doing it. usually you would leave before gabi would even realize so situations like these wouldn’t happen. unfortunately, today didn't work out the way you thought it was going to.
“look sweetie, i don’t think work can be a safe place for you and papa doesn’t want you hurt!” you were literally struggling here and wanted to just get the day over with.
“papa literally lets mayday go-”
miguel raises his eyebrow at his daughter's argument. “no i don’t, peter just doesn’t listen.”
gabi then looking at you, literally pleading with puppy eyes.
“nope, i don’t want you hurt either. but maybe just-” miguel stops you before you could say anything else. "i've got this, mi vida."
he takes a deep breath and glares at the tiny fireball in front of him, who is ready to throw a penguin plush at him, "gabriella. stay here. we're not going to tell you again. or you're never going to hang out with spider-plush ever again."
gabi glared at the both of you and calmed down, dropping the poor penguin, "you wouldn't dare..."
miguel smiled evilly and crossed his arms, "oh yes i would. if you listen, i'll back down but i gue-"
gabi pushed miguel's legs and then hugged you both. "well, i think it's getting late, time to go to work. have a great day!" and she shut the door, and leaving you two in the hallway of your apartment complex.
you sighed and groaned. "whoever said parenting is easy is full of shit."
miguel smiled and rolled his eyes, "yeah, you can say that again."
