#some of the most beautiful traditional clothes etc

just got called a communist in the comments under some opera blogger's post because I said I prefer traditional to modern productions. i mean sure. why not.
#like???????????????????#i am honestly speechless lmao#for context:#it was a post reporting about the possibility of a certain Polish opera being performed at the Met in one of the future seasons#in Treliński's production (operablr remember The Cage Incident in that one Don Carlo? yeah. that's the same guy).#now the opera we're talking about is Halka. It's obviously never been performed at the Met before.#And it's probably the most famous and significant Polish opera. It's full of folk themes and traditional Polish dances etc.#It's an opera that gives so many opportunities for a beautiful colorful staging. With beautiful traditional costumes (not to be a patriot#because im very much not. but ngl traditional Polish clothing especially from Podhale aka where Halka takes place is GORGEOUS)#it basically takes place in the mountains so you could make some great scenography and just gaahhhhh it could be So Pretty.#but obviously. Treliński's production is his classic monochromatic pseudointelectual bullshit which. i understand that some people like it#not me. but it's ok. i simply said what i said above and that i think a colorful traditional production with Polish folk elements#would be something new and fresh especially since it's (potentially) being performed at the Met in the US#where this folk stuff is not really an everyday everpresent element of their culture.#but. apparently. that is a 'communist anachronism' because Halka (which premiered in 1848) is a modern opera??? somehow???#idk#anyway i love Halka and im glad there's a possibility of the Met staging it even if the production is horrible.#i just think it would be more fun for a typical American to see something new and pretty and colorful that will give some background#for the music that has some strange elements when compared to your typical italian french or german opera#opera tag#halka

Astrology Observations - Rising Signs & Planets
Tumblr media
Cancer rising as a parent unintentionally will tend to impose their upbringing's rules and traditions unto their household, and if these are discarded or not followed, they can get pretty upset or offended (they won't tell you this, tough), because attempting to organize and structure the life of their loved ones is one of the strongest ways to show their tenderness and care. This is especially true in routines related to food and family time.
Saturn rising, particularly in Capricorn (and to a lesser degree in the other earth signs) gives amazing bone structure, pretty teeth and refined face shape (well-sculpted cheekbones). They are likely not ones who have experienced broken bones in their childhoods. Depending on the ASC sign, Saturn here may also cause short stature and a sturdy anatomy.
Gemini risings often possess appealing and vibrant gesticulations, beautiful and elongated hands, feet and limbs, a unique tone of voice and a ridiculously contagious smile or laughter. On the flipside (sorry to say this), many of them are very good liars and tricksters, as their high intellect quickly figures out what you want to hear and see in them.
A secret us Scorpio rising folks don't what you to know is that whenever we are interested in you, our eyes will give us away rather easily. We'll hardly confess our feelings until much later, if at all, but if you feel under a microscope in our presence (if you are subject of our involuntarily eerie and soul-piercing gaze), you should know we really like you. You might as well think we hate or despise you... but it's completely the opposite!
Leo risings have gorgeous thick and voluminous hair, usually on the wavy side. They love to buy nice things that draws attention to them, as they enjoy standing out of the crowd even if they are more on the reserved or introverted side of the spectrum. They really don't mind spending their money on costly clothes, makeup or jewelry if they think that makes them more beautiful, even if it actually damages their finances. They love to select and buy gifts too!
Jupiter rising can exaggerate your rising sign's ruling body parts. For example, in Cancer: large boobs or wide thorax / in Taurus: wide and sensuous lips / in Libra: beautiful face, amazing skin and voluminous butt, etc. Unfortunately, Jupiter rising folks can also get overweight super easily.
Mercury ruling risings (including Mercury 1st house and Venus in Gemini) usually make the native look younger than they really are. They also have something really noticeable about their walk... from clumsy to swift, all styles will differ, but they will move in ways that are out of the ordinary, for some reason.
Mars ruling risings NEED some sort of intense physical activity to be balanced, if not, they can literally go crazy due to all their bottled-up anger and restless energy. That's why many of them have a knack for the military, gym or sports, not only because they are good at them, but because this eases their stress in a way nothing else can. And yes, sex is included too.
Water risings, particularly Pisces (including Neptune and Moon in 1st house/conjunct ASC) have the most mesmerizing stare. It doesn’t matter their size or form, their gaze is otherworldly, ethereal, and somehow hypnotic. Water rising souls speak through their eyes, and I’m in love with that.
A Mars rising man can be mistaken for a f*ck boy much easier than other placements, especially if they have Air or Fire in 1st house. Women with this placement have huge sex appeal too, but they tend to attract a lot of envy and rivalry from other females, as their personality is perceived as confrontational and aggressive, even if they don’t act that way. This configuration gives good results when they work with men, but not so much with women.
Thanks for reading! 😘

Bi-Han x Fem!Reader - Arranged Marriage HCS (Part II)
Tumblr media
A/N: AHHH finally. part dos. its really late cuz i lowkey forgot to set a timer for this to post soooooo my bad. anyways part 2 is also long so buckle up.
.·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·.
It's finally the day of the wedding, how will this go?:
- Today's the day. Bi-han's most dreaded event. The wedding.
- The preparations were hell. Maids and workers frantically running around, making sure everything was perfect. Bi-han hated it.
- He wanted to train today, but his father forbade him from it, as the preparation's would take up most of the day and, "He cant have the groom be late for his own wedding".
- Bi-han was in a sour mood all day, everyone in the venue avoided him like the plague in fear that they would be the next victim he would verbally attack.
- He just didn't understand. If this wedding's sole purpose was to seal in the alliance for good, why go all out? its not like its an actual normal wedding, it was just . . . so fucking stupid.
- After a few hours, the venue was complete. It was beautiful, various decorations such as flowers, table cloths and the altar arch were all a soft blueish green color combined with a clean white.
- The blue symbolizing the Lin Kuei, the green symbolizing your clan. If this was a real wedding, between two people who actually loved each other, Bi-han would have actually enjoyed it.
- Instead he was silently brooding in his dressing room, staring daggers into the person who was working around his outfit. He was fitted in a traditional blue long tang suit, embroidered with different gold and white accents.
- He looked in the mirror and briefly wondered what his mother would think; as he took in his appearance he actually saw some truth in Kuai Liang's statement; his mother, despite the real reason, would be proud of him getting married.
- He had barely heard the nervous worker exclaim he was done, and that it was almost time for the wedding to start.
- Standing at the altar, Bi-han felt like he's been waiting an eternity. He tried to look for his father and brothers in the crowd, but after seeing everyones eyes on him he immediately went back to looking at the wall.
- Finally, he saw you walking down the aisle. you had a veil (honggaitou) covering your face, and you wore a traditional sage green cheongsam.
- After taking your place in front of the altar, the officiant started the wedding ceremony. but Bi-han couldn't care less.
- He was too busy staring at your damned veil, and despite his personal vendetta against you, not seeing your face was just was just as annoying as seeing it.
- Finally the vows are over, and he has to lift up your veil.
- And there it was, your face. Your annoyingly beautiful face. You looked up at him as the veil lifted and he briefly wondered if you felt the same emotions he was feeling.
- You wore such a calm expression, it only served to make Bi-han angrier.
- You both bowed and walked off the altar, and just like that, the wedding was officially over.
- The next few hours were the banquet, the drinks, the food, etc. None of which Bi-han, or you for that matter, participated in.
- You both made a beeline to your respective bedrooms and stayed there the rest of the night.
.·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·.
Life as a married couple:
- The first few weeks after the wedding were painfully quiet, with you spending most of your time in the kitchen, the bedroom or the garden, and Bi-han training with his brothers, doing paperwork and shadowing his father.
- Until one night Bi-han came back from a particularly dangerous mission, and had cuts and wounds all over his body.
- He sat in your now shared bedroom, much to Bi-han's dismay, trying to stitch himself up.
- Unfortunately for Bi-han, he was not the best medic, and just kept injuring himself further. That's when you entered the bedroom and saw him stumbling and fiddling around with a needle.
- When you offered to help for the first time, he just told you off rather rudely. You considered just leaving him there, maybe he'd get a nasty infection from all the horrible stitching he's doing. But you're not that evil.
- So you stubbornly ask again and again, until Bi-han looks at you with a pointed look and begrudgingly hands over the needle.
- You stitch him up gracefully, with the upmost care. Bi-han didn't know how to react, feeling your soft hands practically gliding over his skin gave him goosebumps.
- He eventually just closed his eyes, and let you work quietly. You softly hummed as you continued working, something Bi-han found strangely comforting.
- After you were done, you set down the tools and looked at him with an expression he couldn't quite figure out.
- He finally realized what you were looking at, the cut on his cheek.
- You weren't staring at him just to stare, you were asking for permission.
- And Bi-han relented, letting you mend his face too. And he didn't know whether he regretted his decision or if he was thankful that you were there.
- If he thought the feeling of your hands on his arms was nice, the feeling of your hands on his face was next level.
- Bi-han felt . . . good. He admittedly loved the feeling, and enjoyed being taken care of by you.
- Suddenly you were done, and you retracted your hands from his face faster than he would've liked.
- But that simple act of kindness managed to change how Bi-han viewed you.
- He started eating your food and eating with you.
- You started accompanying him to his office, helping with some of the paperwork.
- He even started engaging in conversations with you. The more he learned about you the more he fell in love. Something Bi-han didn't actually think was possible for him.
- After months of dancing around each other's feelings, something unexpected happened.
- You were sitting down at your vanity when Bi-han entered the room. He was holding something.
- You looked up at him, then down at his hands. You asked him about what he was holding and he just told you to stand up and face him.
- And when you did, he opened his hands to reveal a stunning necklace. You were in awe and so surprised that he got you a gift your eyes welled up.
- You turned around and faced away from him, and he clipped the necklace on your neck. You looked in the mirror and you couldn't hold back your tears.
- You faced him again and thanked him, you had no idea Bi-han was capable of doing this.
- For a moment Bi-han looked at your tear-filled face and thought you looked beautiful while you cried too.
- You hugged him, and while it took Bi-han by surprise, he just pulled away and cupped your face.
- He expressed his gratitude for you, and as the man of a few words that he is, he just finished by kissing you.
- After pulling away and seeing you look so . . . elated, he realized maybe this whole arranged marriage thing wouldn't be so bad after all.
(2/2)
.·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨༺ ༻¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·..·:*¨ ¨*:·.
A/N: im finally done and my neck hurts. hope u guys enjoyed this :))

GIRL I JUST HAD THE MOST DAN HENG SHAMING BRAINROT 😭 Again, inspired by your writing of Dan Feng finding us in another lifetime. Darling's immortal bc you can't meet the reincarnated version of your yandere if you're short-lived.
We all know that Dan Feng's outfit is ✨conservative✨ while Dan Heng's IL outfit gives your grandparents a heart attack. So imagine him gaining memories of you, the darling he kidnapped in his past and also regaining the old obsession. And the first thing you do when you met Dan Heng IL is judge his outfit bc why is he dressed like...that?? Where's the honor and pride of the high elder?? He's trying to kidnap you again, in THAT outfit??
CW: hsr spoilers (dan heng companion mission), yandere, kidnapping, conservative attitude (maybe seems a bit sexist), (implied but not described) non-con
😂Love Dragon boys’ different attitudes towards clothes!! Dan Feng’s conservative attitude towards you and his clothes is something I definitely won’t shut up about 🤭
In order to answer, I studied Dan Feng and Dan Heng's clothes-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dan Feng's clothes are darker in color, the collars on both sides are higher, and there is a gemstone in the middle of the chest. And there is a picture of a crane on the clothes, which symbolizes nobility, elegance, longevity, luck and other positive meanings, suggesting his background and personality. In the animation trailer, Dan Feng sat quietly, even though he was locked by all the chains (implying the reincarnation fate of High Elder/that sin), he still closed his eyes quietly, without any sorrow, anger, or sadness on his face, like he doesn't care at all. And refer to the few clues now:
1) Dan Feng is described by Jing Yuan as "powerful", "beyond control".
Tumblr media
2) When he communicated with Yingxing in the past, he had a strong and calm tone here.
Tumblr media
At least it can be deduced that his character is a confident, powerful, charismatic, and even a bit tough dragon. As for Dan Feng who appears in the "Ichor of Two Dragons" animation, that "him" is the version Dan Heng understands. This may be much tougher than himself. As you can imagine, Dan Feng’s current fashion style is relatively conservative💕
As for Dan Heng, we all know what kind of character he is 😚 Let’s talk about clothes. In contrast, the colors of his clothes are brighter, showing that he is breaking away from the cycle of inheritance. Moreover, Dan Heng's clothes are much more revealing- his shoulders are exposed, and then his back and the middle of his chest are also exposed. The theme of his clothes is lotus, not Dan Feng's crane. The lotus is equally beautiful and elegant, but rises from the mud without stains (still looking at the light in the darkness). This is their different style.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the past life, Dan Feng bound you to his side. No matter what style of clothing you like, the High Elder has ordered you to change into this style- like this Vidyadhara Lady NPC. Traditional Xianzhou style clothes. If you expose a little bit, like these Xianzhou girls (Sushang, Yukong, Tingyun, Qingque etc), exposing shoulders, thighs, calves, Yandere! Dan Feng is not happy with this kind of dress. In his eyes, it is immoral - why most people in Xianzhou dress appropriately, you have to learn from those few people who dress like this.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not to mention you plan to wear clothes from other planets/space civilizations💀💔What? Are you going to expose some skin on your chest? You don't even have any fabric on your waist! Those clothes disappear from your closet (um, they appear every time you act sad, but Dan Feng said it has nothing to do with him). Don't you notice that people are looking at you? Some people want to flirt with you.
Over the long centuries, the few exceptions were in private. For example, that time you bought a dragon tail and a cute revealing outfit and wore them to please your angry dragon husband. Dan Feng gently stroked your tail and pursed his lips.
After Dan Feng's reincarnation, you escaped from Luofu, took a spaceship, and traveled around various planets. Dan Feng has always forced you to stay with him. Now that you are free, you should be happy, but loss and sorrow haunt your heart.
The dragon who once said that no matter which reincarnation will find you...is it really gone?
Until you meet the boy. Those eyes that are as bright as the ocean, and similar dragon horns and tail.
"Found you."
It's been a long time since you've felt that fear of being captured. In panic, you pushed his chest and noticed his clothes, which turned into another kind of shock. Wait, where's the honor and pride of the High Elder?? Indecent?? The middle of his chest is even exposed.
This might be an odd focus for you about to be kidnapped, but you really haven't seen Dan Feng like this in hundreds of years. Dan Heng puts you on the Astral Express and selects a room for you. He will stick to your side at night, curl up with his tail and sleep with you. You realize the difference between him and Dan Feng, especially in your clothing attitude. He allows you to keep wearing whatever you like, March and Stelle discuss fashion trends with you, have a slumber party, laughing.
Sometimes, you miss Dan Feng and recall what they brought to you. You know they are two people. The changes they bring to you are etched deeply in your heart.

LasAbarcas Base Game Save File 1.0
My Base Game Save File is complete!!! Download it here!
UPDATED VERSION AS OF 3/18:
OLD VERSION:
My goal with this save was to make the base game feel super ALIVE and full of personality - basically what we all wanted the base game to be originally. This save is full of lore: each household has a story (some inspired by iconic Sims lore, others original), each Sim has relationships outside their home, each world has a description and each neighborhood within each world is built with a very specific vibe that draws particular Sims to live there, all community lots (and some residential lots) have descriptions, and even the graves (and ghosts) at the Willow Creek church graveyard tell a story. There are TONS of community lots in this save that all feel different from one another and are designed with different kinds of Sims (personalities, career types, ages, etc.) in mind to give everyone multiple things to do outside the house.
All lots were built using only the base game (disclaimer: occasionally my game adds pack-specific items, like a kind of food, during playtesting, so it might say there is a pack-specific item on a lot but it's not meant to be there!), but many lots were built with other packs in mind. For example, the save has restaurants, a boba shop/thrift story, a cafe/retail space, a community garden, a high school, and so on that are base game only. So, if you only have the base game or limited packs, it should feel like you have more to do than the base game provides and open up your gameplay with a little imagination.
If you do have more packs, the lots should easily convert to their intended lot type to allow more functionality. You should also find things that come in other packs available in the save. For example, many Sims have university degrees, all Sims have cold/hot weather clothes, there are loads of clubs for Sims to be in (each with a description - MORE LORE hah!), and the calendar is filled with holidays/events.
Here's a little tour of the Save:
WILLOW CREEK:
Tumblr media
Most families in Willow Creek have lived here for generations. These families strongly value their roots and create such a strong sense of Willow Creek identity that the transplant families have taken on this identity as well, leaving the town full of people who proudly work to preserve and celebrate the town’s vibrant history and traditions. Families in Willow Creek tend to have a more traditional approach to family life/dynamics and care about the family’s image/status within Willow Creek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
OASIS SPRINGS:
Tumblr media
Oasis Springs had its heyday several decades ago when its space exploration industry was booming, but when the industry fizzled out, the town lost a lot of business, wealth, and residents. However, those that remain take pride in their retro desert town and clearly see what remains: a beautiful, unique, special place to call home. Families in Oasis Springs tend to be a bit quirkier, care little about what other people think about them, and focus more everyday happiness than career success.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NEWCREST:
Tumblr media
Newcrest is a very family-friendly neighborhood filled with fun for all ages. Families here tend to be a bit more laidback – they are willing to go with the flow and enjoy the messiness that comes with growing up. The Newcrest residents are a supportive bunch of people who enjoy each other’s company and have a healthy balance between careers/school, hobbies, and spending time with family and friends.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I will also be releasing a Limited Packs Save with version one containing updates to Copperdale and Strangerville coming soon, as well as a No Limits Save down the line.
I hope you all download and enjoy!! Please let me know what you think and if you notice anything that needs updating.
Thanks!

@goldensunsetchild Asked:
Hello there! I know that you might be busy right now but I wanted to let you know an idea that I have, greatly inspired by your post: spanish reader who gets homesick but instead of getting depressed by it starts to do things they used to do back on their world. Dancing to their traditional dances while singing their accompanying songs, teaching the children the games they used to play when they were younger and also telling folktales to everyone who is interested in listening to. If you decide to do this idea and want to incorporate things from Costa Rica, please let me know and I'll help you with anything you need (◍•ᴗ•◍)✧*。
Tumblr media
(Content under cut)
HELLO YES SORRY IT TOOK ME SO DAMN LONG TO GET TO THIS!! 😭 /gen
I went to Costa Rica back in highschool in 2018? I think, and when I tell you I FELL IN LOVEEEE <3333
Costa Rica is a beautiful country and everyone was really nice, vibes were immaculate 🤌 ✨
Sun: Costa Rican Reader! (you/they/them)
Stars: Sumeru cast
Comets & Meteors: Content Warnings: None known & Trigger Warnings: alcohol usage/drinking game.
Orbit:Headcanons-ish
when u first crash landed in Teyvat, people luckily recognized you from when u were a player!
and u took in whatever culture and traditions everyone was so excited to show you as they were kind enough to give u clothes/food/shelter etc.
butttt… it did get overwhelming after a few months, and u got homesick more and more often :(
after all there wasn’t really an equivalent country to Costa Rica, and you couldn’t just take a plane back home, you were stuck here for… however long it takes someone to leave a video game universe??
You decided to actually do smth abt the crippling depression and “outsider” feelings instead of just rotting away, and went to Sumeru to get closer to the greenery of your home,
it made you feel a little better, but it could be the best, so u decide to lowkey force everyone in Sumeru to convert to Costa Rican LMAO
so ofc u did the most logical thing to convert ppl to a culture, the food!
u helped fund a small restaurant full of classic Costa Rican foods (coughandsoyoucaneatitwheneveryouwantcough)
(u still have the insane mora leftover from what u had in game so ur basically one of the richest ppl in Teyvat ngl 💀)
u recreated just the basic gallo pinto/casado with what was available (some beans from Natlan and rice from Inazuma/Liyue, the Ajilenakh nut from Sumeru acc kinda acts like plantains :0 and local fish/greens for salad)
Needless to say Sumeru is fascinated by the new cuisine and esp since its not a secret that you’ve funded it/made the menu from your homeworld
Alhaitham orders the casado most of the time bc he “admires the exact proportions, its all the nutrients you need, perfectly balanced” NERDDD
Tighnari likes barbudos bc there's not a lot of egg dishes in Sumeru but there are a lot of greens, so he “likes the familiar in unique combinations!”
unsurprisingly, Cyno likes Chancelta bc he can pick it up, eat it quickly, and go on with his patrol
Collei, Kaveh (and secretly Dehya lol) really like being able to munch and snack on sugar cane, (and the plantain imitation desserts!)
(u found sugarcane deep in sumeru forests, it was like on ur world, but sweet flowers sprouted out of the stalks too!)
You decide the next phase was to introduce dances and other fun stuff!!
Nilou was literally shaking with excitement to learn the traditional dances <3 (and also getting ur permission to add fun twists or Sumeru elements to them)
the kids that like to hang around and watch the troupe practice (and join) absolutely got obsessed with swing criollo, it was so cute to watch them all pair up and kinda trip over their own feet trying the footwork out
(u may or may not have teared up bc the band learned how to play a Spanish song for u guys to dance to, just for you)
teaching the theater troupes musicians how to adapt upbeat songs like Caballito Nicoyano or Ticas Lindas
omg getting Nilou Kaveh Faruzan Cyno Dehya (and Dunyazard!) to do the calipso limonense always cheers you up, (which is why they are so eager to do it when ur feeling homesick ❤️‍🩹)
Kaveh steps on too many people’s toes, Dehya gets dizzy from the spins/turns easily, Faruzan keeps spinning for too long, Nilou and Dunyazard are actually secretly latina bc they're so good at it (did they outdo you?? no, no they couldn't possibly-)
and Cyno just really likes the little dance line everyone makes lol
speaking of the General Mahamatra
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
u CANNOT teach Cyno a new game from your home country, and expect him to NOT be the most competitive mf in Teyvat abt it
that's actually how u spread any games from back home, Cyno just does all the work for you and challenges ppl to things like jackses and no one knows what it is
which he then proceeds to strong arm them into learning and beat their asses at it
(yes Cyno wins against you a lot, sorry lmao)
You definitely had a drinking game centered around it one time and the consequences changed with each person who lost
like Cyno had to learn how to cook tamales that were edible, and more importantly..
Alhaitham had to at least attempt the swing criollo lol
(was it unfairly attractive? maybe. was watching Nilou, who was teaching him, and Alhaitham both do swing criollo 2x as attractive?? that's just for u and the Sumeru vision users to know)
SPEAKING OF ALHAITHAM
absolutely hilarious, yet also impressive?? how quickly he picked up ur slang
smug bastard picked it up based off sheer context/vibes too, u didn't even explain it to him, just u trying to go sit down in ur Costa Rican restaurant and he pulls u back before someone mows u down saying “hey, suave un toque-”
YOUR NECK FUCKING CRACKING BC U WHIPPED AROUND TO LOOK AT HIM SO FAST LMAOOO
(ngl u scared the fuck out of the poor scholar before he got all smug abt knowing slang)
accidentally spread this knowledge to other vision users bc he got in the habit of casually using it, tbh more often when ur not around lol (Alhaitham being caught having habits bc he's fond of other ppl?? never)
his favorite is “qué chante…😒 ” obv lol
so now the forest rangers use stuff like pura vida and tuanis sending each other off on patrols! Collei so cutely excited to explain to other Sumeru ppl or tourists where the words come from and what they mean, spreading ur Costa Rica agenda very well 👌
and the mahamatra like to use “Jale pa’la choza” when coming back from the desert to Sumeru city homebase! :)
ALSO bonus:
u absolutely got leyendas into the bedtime warning/ghost stories of the entirety of Sumeru children lmao
u start spooking kids like Dori (Nahida finds them fascinating)
and after awhile u notice Cyno and Dehya mentioning watching out at night for La Llorona or los cadejos 💀??
like you've genuinely made them paranoid, bc they wanna be sweethearts and protect you from them, like even if they don't believe they exist, they're worried you do and are trying to make u feel better lol <3
an iced coffee? for me?? :O
Blessed be Costa Rica, such a lovely country when I went, and as soon as I got off the plane coming back the first thing I did was make a Costa Rican meal the best I could
like got my mom to prep from dry black beans and rice etc. as fresh as we could get (nowhere near costa rica level btw) and made fresh guac and fried plantain chips and salmon I think? literally cooked the first night back bc I knew I missed the food already/knew id get sick
and I was RIGHT, that food I made was fine, but any other American food so bad I got nauseous
I literally got sick COMING BACK TO THE U.S like 😨???!!! I knew it was bad but not THAT bad lmao
and the first meal I had after that was still a homecooked meal, like my mom made it💀
love the coffee from there too, we even ordered coffee from the farm we visited when I got back to US it was so good (10x better than American obv)
THANK YOU BTW GOLDEN!! FOR BEING SO PATIENT AND LOVELY TELLING ME ALL ABT COSTA RICA <3333
I hope this did some amount of justice to ur beautiful home! :)
Safe Travels Golden Child,

Hi! Firstly, I love ur headcannons and the way u characterize them, specially Lo and Neteyam. Could you do avatar headcannons of how they would be in a traditional dance festival. (Like would they be dancing, drinking, telling stories, etc.) Much love, xx
hi anon! 👩‍❤️‍ and thank you! i’m not really confident in my lo’ak and neteyam, but i’m so glad you like them! and that’s such a cute idea :) i hope you like my take on it. love you lots! xx
avatar headcanons | you attend a na’vi festival
⋆✮↪ neteyam and lo’ak + bonus: jake and tsu’tey
neteyam
he plays songs with traditional instruments. his favorite is the gourd drum. it's made out of the bladder from a sturmbeest his mother hunted, and he plays it at the festival. when you asked him why, he embarrassingly admitted that he’s insecure about his singing voice, so he uses the gourd drum to imitate the microtonal drone in na’vi singing. as much as you like to reassure him, you love neteyam’s musical prowess. he even dedicates songs to you.
he makes you dance with him most of the night. the festival itself is all about dancing to honor the great mother. to neteyam, dancing is one of the most intimate things in the world, and he wouldn’t do it with anyone else except you. when you first arrive at the festival in your beautiful attire, he is sweeping you off your feet. he is swaying to the sounds of the hypnotic music, taking the lead and outshining everyone else. everyone has their eyes on their future tsahik and olo’eyktan.
he shows you off at every chance he gets. when you two aren’t dancing, neteyam is dragging you around to meet his friends from training, bragging about how beautiful and kind and talented you are. in these special moments, you admire how the “perfect child” facade slips away to mess with his friends like how he does with his brother. it wouldn’t be like this under any other circumstances. you’re truly grateful to the festival and the great mother, even if neteyam teases you too. you swear he exaggerates everything.
lo’ak
he teaches other na’vi how to gamble. he learned the whole idea of gambling from his dad. he’d teach you and the other na’vi all about human games like “jackblack” and “poker” and “julepe” using makeshift cards and chips. you were really confused about the rules but eventually got the hang of it. your group of friends would bet simple things, like woven clothes or headpieces. when things aren’t looking so good for you, lo’ak would start accusing other na’vi of cheating.
he turns drinking into a competition. he technically isn’t supposed to drink, but it’s a festival so what were his parents expecting? lo’ak likes to provoke other young warriors into stupid challenges to see can who handle their alcohol the best. they don’t fall for it at first, but lo’ak knows how to push the right buttons. these usually end with a lot of empty bottles. lo’ak always wins, but at what cost? his dignity? his honor? there’s too much to count. you like to tease him afterwards.
he pulls you away from the crowd a lot. festivals can get a little overwhelming, and even the great and mighty lo’ak has his social limits. when his dancing becomes sluggish or his mind is off somewhere else, you take his hand to ask if everything’s alright. instead of responding, though, he abruptly pulls you away from the festival to spend some quality time with you. you two are silent all throughout, but you like to stroke his hair and cup his face to comfort him. lo'ak loves you for it.
jake
he’s coming up with new drinks. driven by his mysterious human knowledge, toruk makto is an artist when it comes to mixing alcohol. he just felt that na’vi drinks were too weak, so he asked mo’at if he could change things up a little at the festival. it took a lot of convincing, especially since it’s a special tradition, but she reluctantly gave in. now not only does the clan adore him for bonding with toruk, but also his excellent drinks. he doesn't even have experience from earth. he just mixes things together and prays.
tsu’tey
he babysits the children. festivals were never really his thing. he just grabs a drink and leaves. before, tsu’tey was obligated to stay for the whole duration of the festival as the future olo’eyktan. since that title was given to jake, he doesn’t even bother to show up sometimes. that doesn’t mean the clan doesn’t put him to work, though. he’s the assigned “babysitter,” as jake puts it, which is ironic since tsu’tey doesn’t know a thing or two about kids. somehow, the clan children still like him.

any tips/advice for someone who is not catholic who wants to participate in lent? like how to choose what to give up etc?
Cheers to not letting Catholics have a monopoly on Lent, beloved! Last year I answered a similar ask that might be helpful. Here are the thoughts I have right now!
[CW: discussion of eating/fasting in italics] My most important note/disclaimer: Fasting is not for everyone. It is a beautiful tradition (for Catholics and non-Catholics) that can change people's lives, but if it's going to be a part of your practice, do it on purpose, knowing yourself. It inherently changes your relationship with food--and for people who have always had enough to eat, who have never struggled with disordered eating, who have never been seriously ill, there can be a solidarity and new perspective in fasting, in realizing how sensory experiences and comfort and mortality go together, how privileged you are to have the choice to go hungry. But for those who have struggled with food insecurity, or have lived through/live with eating disorders/disability/illness, or any other experience/relationship with food/the body that changes your perspective, fasting will often be a re-traumatizing or triggering practice that doesn't change your perspective so much as reinforce unhealthy ones. Something I think about: why fast if you cannot feast? Lenten fasting brings us to Easter feasting--if that's not accessible to you, if that wouldn't be joyful or affordable or healthy, fasting probably isn't either. Okay, all that said:
There is so much diversity in what a Lenten practice can look like, and I can't tell you what will be most meaningful for you, but I'll give you some ideas and some questions that have been helpful for me to ask myself! Lent existed way before the Catholic/Protestant divide, and exists among so many diverse communities, and there is a path here for you if you want one.
"Giving up something" is the most common language used for Lent--fasting technically refers to anything abstained from--and generally that's really useful! Jesus's forty days in the wilderness was time that he had nothing but God, and during Lent we can get closer to that experience. I give things up not as punishment or a test of self-control (those ideas trigger unhealthy behavior patterns for me), but as a letting go of something that is in my life but doesn't need to be, and may deserve reconsidering. Sometimes it's a bad habit, but sometimes it's just a conscious allowing of my life to grow simultaneously smaller and bigger. There is space for grief during Lent, but we're not just making ourselves feel bad--I've never found forced emotions to be spiritually helpful. Emotions come and go--we're doing this on purpose, and whatever we feel about it, we make space for that.
Ideas of things to give up:
eating out/getting coffee/buying drinks/little treats
impulse buying/nonessentials (you could pick a category, like clothes, or go all out)
alcohol/drugs/smoking (if this would be starting a recovery journey, I am not the person to ask for advice on that but please do seek help)
social media (you could choose one app to give up, or set time limits--it doesn't have to be all or nothing)
scrolling-on-your-phone time before bed/another time when you get sucked in
another form of casual entertainment (like TV/video games--again, you can limit this rather than cutting it out)
sexual activity (I talked about this here)
makeup/other appearance-related thing (I must confess I have considered doing this and always chickened out. I know that's because it would force me to rethink too many things, which is a probably a sign I should do it one of these years.)
a social habit, like gossiping or getting into arguments online
overscheduling/not having rest days (this is often unavoidable, but rest is necessary and holy, and perhaps this is the season for sacrifice in honor of rest)
single-use plastics/another environmental choice
Note: I don't think any of these things are inherently bad things. This is a list of things we can change/investigate our relationship with or have a season without them as a distraction, not things I think we shouldn't be doing or we should feel bad about.
One of the most important things I've realized is that so often I have given something up and not done anything about it. Like I didn't watch TV for forty days and was mad about it and then Lent was over and I watched TV again. Perhaps this strengthened my self-discipline, or made my life better in a way known only to God, but ultimately nothing happened. I didn't consciously do anything else, I didn't learn anything.
Now, when I give up something, I purposely do something with whatever space it leaves. If I'm not watching TV, what am I going to do when I would usually watch TV? Am I gonna pray? go to bed earlier? call my grandmother? Am I gonna cancel my Netflix subscription for a couple months and donate that saved money? Or maybe I'm gonna give up watching mindless TV, and find stories that resonate and make me think. Don't give things up to check a box, but to reexamine your relationship with them, make everyday things sacred, fill the space/time/money/energy you now have with God, and ultimately to set this time apart.
The other way of looking at Lent practices is things you can add. Often, as I mentioned, they go together--you can pair up something you're no longer buying with somewhere to donate to, or give up an activity and replace it with a new one. I always caution against Lent-as-self-improvement--obviously I can support improving our habits, but I've seen too many people use Lent to restart their new year's workout plans, and while exercise can be a way to care for ourselves, if new year's and Lent are treated the exact same way, what's different about this season? What makes this Lent?
One of the questions I've been asking myself recently is: What are you gonna do about it? When I'm investigating a belief, or learning something new, or reframing an old thought process, I ask myself: What am I gonna do about it? Lent is a path to Holy Week--something I and many others commemorate as the week when God was put on trial and literally killed. I genuinely believe God died and was resurrected--how does this affect my life? Believing something like that and not letting it change you is, to me, inauthentic. When I'm considering a belief, I think, if this were true, how would it change me? Would it lead me to Love? Lent (and Christianity itself) over and over asks us to do something about what we say we believe. Faith without works is dead--and faith is a work, something I do.
It's almost Lent, which is preparation for the Resurrection, which fundamentally changes our understanding of what it means to be alive--so what are you gonna do about it? Not because doing something will make God love you more or make you a "better person," or even because you'll succeed or change your life, but because how can we not? We are of course welcome at Easter having done nothing, but I can't imagine knowing what's coming and not letting it change me.
Ideas of things to add to our lives:
start a prayer/Bible routine--I can now wholeheartedly recommend (as a Protestant who connects with ancient traditions but not always Catholicism) Phyllis Tickle's Divine Hours books! For Bible study, I like The Bible Project's videos.
read a book--it can be anything that connects you with God! (I had a lovely experience with Lenten Lord of the Rings last year, and this year I'm properly going through the Quran)
pick a subject to research (theological or anything else)
start to attend worship services or commit to attending more--this could include going to several different places if you don't currently belong to a church
research places to volunteer for or donate to
do something politically active, like calling your representatives, researching the next local election, or attending a protest
donate to the next [insert number here] posts you see online requesting mutual aid
start a physical practice like taking a walk or stretching
write a letter or call someone regularly, especially with people you've been wanting to connect with more or have unresolved conflict with
start/commit to more regular therapy/other health treatment
ask for help--maybe you're the one who needs mutual aid, or reaching out to, or support cleaning your house or with your kids. there is no shame in this.
These are all obviously things we can be doing year round, and certainly we can use Lent as a season to start something we want to keep with us! I'd also encourage us to have something that's only present during Lent, or something that we do more or in a different way.
You asked how to choose, and I don't have a one sentence answer to that (...obviously), but perhaps in these days before Lent you can look at your routine/habits, the places where God is present, the things you do to distract yourself from life (not a crime--just something to be mindful of), and you can see where Lent might be able to come in and change you. The thing that's nagging at you that you know might be helpful, the thing you're not in control of and just do, the time you take up or the money you spend that might not be bad but also doesn't lead you anywhere. We can't expect every aspect of our lives to be purposeful and present, or to be continuously improving ourselves (in fact, that sounds terribly stressful and unsustainable)--but we can look around us. We can have a season that looks different because everyone I've ever known has a brain that craves ritual in some way--and either we do it on purpose, or we fall into it. Do something (or don't do something) a little more on purpose this season.
Another think to think about is what Sundays will look like for you--the "forty days" don't count them. There's no fasting on Sundays--my mom says every Sunday is a little Easter. "Sundays in Lent" is such an interesting concept because it's very much Lent, but the rhythm of our weeks breaks through. When I give up soda, I'll have one as a celebration on Sundays, but a prayer/reading practice I'll continue through. It's up to you and depends on what your rhythm/habits ask of you.
Ultimately, let God interrupt you. Let Them seep in the cracks of everything you do and let go of. To be loved is to be changed. Even the smallest thing--like wearing a cross necklace every day--can cause our lives to be filled with noticing God's presence. I keep saying to do this on purpose, but know that I find Them much more often by accident.
And an obligatory note: starting Lent late, stopping your practice halfway through, not meeting a goal, whatever comes up--Easter still comes for you. Lent is for paying attention, for making space, not for perfection.
I also want to add that while a lot of Lenten practices (including most I've mentioned here) tend to be personal, ultimately what is asked of us is interpersonal. We make space in our life and be more present in the name of Love--which we cannot do alone. If a practice is not specifically about other people (like volunteering/donating), ask yourself how it will serve the ways you love others? This isn't a trick question, just something to think about. Personally, my study of the Quran this season will connect me with my Muslim siblings through time and enable me to more fully love the Muslims around me, and my rhythm of the divine hours will connect me with the wider Christian community and center me as I go about my day, allowing me to be more present in my relationships.
Easter comes whether we're ready or not--and I don't think we can be ready. But we can look at the small parts of ourselves, set this time apart, see what we can change our relationship with, and perhaps when Easter comes, we will every year have come that much closer to understanding what it means to live out the resurrection by honoring the death that came first.
Wishing you a blessed almost-Lent, and praying for you and your practice (as well as all those reading this)!

Let's talk about Desi representation again!!
I don't talk about this stuff often but when I do, I have some strong ass opinions
and yes I'm gonna be talking about none other than Pavitr Prabhakar at the end cuz he's just special to me <3
Hollywood is lagging behind on Desi representation
You'd think one of the biggest film industries in the world would be able to represent us properly, considering the fact that we make up the largest group of South-Asian Americans and the second largest group of Asian-Americans in the US, but instead-
Western Television forces Indians to conform to harmful stereotypes
Some of the most popular Desi characters on screen are Raj Koothrappali from the Big Bang Theory, Devi Vishwakumar from Never Have I Ever and Kelly Kapoor from the Office.
Indian men are almost always portrayed as robotics engineers and computer whizzes, but with terrible social intellect, making them seem like awkward nerds.
Indian women are almost always portrayed as "whitewashed", or wanting to appear more western, with zero understanding of their own culture or language along with an unrelenting need for attention from white friends/colleagues.
These are both based on stereotypes that Indian culture is "toxic" and "too traditional" and that Indians are only interested in studies.
Most Desi characters in western media have stories that are solely based around their ethnicity and/or racial stereotypes.
British television actually showcases a lot more representation than Hollywood does
I was watching Polite Society, a movie starring two Pakistani characters as the main leads, and there was a dance scene where both the leads are wearing traditional desi attire. My mom turned over, looked at me, and asked, "Is this Hollywood? It can't be."
And she was right. It's a British movie with British-Pakistani actors.
The reason she didn't believe that it could've been Hollywood was because the dresses the two leads were wearing were traditional and beautiful and the song playing in the background was authentic Hindi music, not some random westernized DJ version of it.
A Hollywood movie would've never dressed up their Desi actors in actually flattering attire (*cough cough the Patel twins from Harry Potter) or have used real, popular Desi music in the background.
You see my point?
It is so uncommon to see well-thought-out Desi representation in TV nowadays, where to see real diversity we have to watch movies made by the same country that colonized us.
Ironic.
British movies/shows with desi leads have far better South Asian representation than anything I've seen in Hollywood recently.
The Hollywood movies starring Indian leads, like Slumdog Millionaire or Bend it like Beckham were filmed in the UK, and because they were filmed in the UK, they had fantastic South Asian representation.
Not only does Hollywood refuse to create shows and movies about real problems that South Asians face, but they also don't cast South Asian actors in good roles.
When's the last time you saw a South Asian actor playing a character that wasn't a walking stereotype? When's the last time you saw a South Asian actor playing a character that was a genuine part of the story rather than just comedic relief or a random smart kid in the classroom?
Not often, right?
Me, personally, I didn't grow up with a lot of South Asian characters or actors in shows/movies that I watched. In fact, every time someone even close to my skin color showed up on TV, I was on the edge of my seat because it was just so rare to see it.
This is why representation matters.
You've heard about all the young girls with braids being so excited when the new little mermaid with Halle Bailey came out. Well, us desi kids wanted that too.
I wanted to see a Telugu speaking girl with wavy hair and dark skin who would wear traditional clothing to Desi get-togethers and parties, go to the temple with her family, eat vegetarian Indian meals, etc...
I wanted to see a character who was a representation of me and my experiences as an Indian-American. I wanted to see a character that was at least a representation of Indians or just South Asians in general.
Instead, we were given characters that ridiculed their own culture, were extreme stereotypes and furthered the existence of casual racism in western society today. So many Desi kids experience small acts of racism on a daily basis because people have been so desensitized to the existence of these stereotypes.
Telling South Asians that their culture is a joke and feeding non-asian children media which pokes fun at other cultures is harmful, not only to us South Asians but also communities that could end up being targeted next.
Pavitr Prabhakar; Representation Matters
If you've been following me or if we're mutuals, you probably know I have a tiny obsession with Pavitr Prabhakar. But why?
Because of all the reasons I just listed.
There are few South Asian characters us Desis can look up to these days, and Pavitr Prabhakar is one of the maybe two or three characters who have great writing, magnificent representation, and overall a fun vibe.
He's likable, funny, smart and best of all, unapologetically Desi.
He's just like all the other side characters, with a little bit of his own culture mixed in. He's not being shoved down our throats to further an agenda about fake diversity, he's not a walking stereotype and best of all, he was designed by Indian creators.
He's refreshing and exciting to follow in a world full of a demand for half-hearted representations and the people who created him were obviously putting their hearts and souls into it.
He's awoken a love for Indian culture amongst, not only Desi children themselves but also among westerners who, prior to this, had thought of India as a "3rd world" country, because that's the agenda that Hollywood pushes onto many South Asian countries today.
WE LOVE PAVITR PRABHAKAR!!
This was kinda all over the place but I just had to get this off my chest <3

Back again for a yandere set 2 ask! And this was inspired by the one I’d previously asked with the yanderes’ preference of outfit/clothing style for their darling…
What would each of the yanderes’ dream wedding ring be for their darling?
Obviously you have some like Aeron and Viper who’ve given marriage gifts to their darlings in their stories already, but what about the others?
This doesn’t have to be super detailed or anything! I just thought it’d be fun to ask what a general idea for the rings would be.(Like the cut/shape, what material for the band, etc.) I hope this can be fun for you first and foremost since you’ve said in the past you’ve liked these asks of mine
Take care in life and school! I know you’ll succeed!
Yandere! men and their dream wedding ring
Hmm, I don't know how to describe a wedding ring, so I decided to put pics instead!
And thank you for wishing me well! I hope and know you'll succeed too.
PRICES I DESCRIBED DOES NOT EQUATE TO THE ACTUAL REAL LIFE PRICES OF THE RINGS HERE!
Tumblr media
YAN! DELINQUENT
Liam would have a modest wedding ring. Something simple and delicate, something that reminds him of you. It may not be the most detailed or expensive, but it's enough that it's beautiful, and it matches you.
Tumblr media
YAN! BULLY
Oh Uno wants it big and bold, something that will smear a frown of jealousy on other people's face, something that he knows that you will find extra. Why not? It gives a big fuck you to people who bullied you, and a fuck you to the people who thinks they can have a chance with him. Does it look tacky? Eh... Depends on you. Does it look like an engagement ring? It does, but he doesn't really care.
Tumblr media
YAN! NSFW ASMRTIST
Rose would want something just in the middle. He would definitely ask for you opinion, although if he saw something that he thinks would fit you, he would buy it. Plus points if it had a rose carving, making it seem that he's branding you.
Tumblr media
YAN! ISEKAI'ED ADVENTURER
Aeron's ring, as described in the fic, had a fantasy like ring where vines protrude from the gem as it's a ring from the fae's. Well, until it got corrupted and now it's a demon king's wedding ring. It's beautiful yet foreboding, and had spikes digging into your skin so you won't remove it, ever.
Tumblr media
YAN! PLAYER
Amor would be extra-extra. He would force the gods to find a wedding ring worthy of you. And one of them will find something that is imbedded with godly powers from their was once shrine. Amor would be giddy, and knew that this ring will be worthy of your fingers. Looks like an engagement ring too.
Tumblr media
YAN! PARASITE
TBF, Acheron will think a wedding ring over and over again will be too wasteful, although he will be inclined to buy one every life/body both of you will inhabit if you want. But the first wedding ring will be the most special. It's simple yet intricate, making sure it will not bother you and him when it comes to your lab works.
Tumblr media
YAN! EMPEROR
Callisto, from months of waging wars on other towns, cities, Empires and Kingdoms will find more treasure than he can fit in his treasury. So that meant more options to find the most perfect wedding band for you. Although, he ends up with a simple yet intricate band too.
Tumblr media
YAN! COLLEGE STUDENT
Alpheus is rich, so he'll spend a lot of time finding the best wedding ring he could find for the both of you. He ends up dissatisfied most of the time and ends up commissioning for a piece since his love for you runs deep, so does his grattitude. He will probably end up with a pair that if you slot the both of them together, they will come out complete.
Tumblr media
YAN! DEEP SEA CREATURE
Merfolk tradition is different, and Viper is no different too. So no rings, but he will present a pearl hairclip or pin, something that reminds him of you, and his love over you, and basically his desire to be with you at all times. He forges it himself too.
Tumblr media
YAN! HUNTER
Orion will think that a ring doesn't fit you, and will probably find a circlet for you to wear. It would look dazzling on your head, and it will probably be better considering that you never wore a ring before (assuming that). He will commission somebody, although it will not look like what he wanted and ends up making it himself. It will be extra though, and will be quite uncomfortable to wear.
Tumblr media
YAN! KING
As a king, Soma will probably have something up his sleeve. And when I say up his sleeve, I meant a family heirloom, passed down from generation to generation. So this ring was not only heavy on the gem, but heavy on the meaning too. It meant that you're his forever and ever. And if you did something to tarnish his name, then i'm sorry but something will happen.
Tumblr media
YAN! GOD
Liviticus will shut himself off in his domain to make the perfect wedding band for the both of you. With his creativity, surely he can create the perfect wedding band? It will be difficult for him, as he always, always change his mind and try to do it again and again until you stop him and assure him that it's fine.
Tumblr media
YAN! PROSECUTOR
Yuta will probably find a ring that is simple but is ridiculously expensive that you don't know how it became so expensive. Although, now that you think about it, it is quite intricate, and carved quite well. Although you won't ask how much it is actually, it will probably put you in a cardiac arrest.

On ACOTAR Faeries and Names
For some reason, SJM undoes most, if not all, of traditional faerie lore in her books. (I haven't read TOG or CC so I can't comment on those.) The cynical part of me thinks it's because faeries can be difficult to write well, therefore she took the easy route; the more forgiving part of me thinks it's because she set out to explore why humans believed certain myths about faeries, but then lost interest as she spent more and more time in the realm of the Night Court. (Side note: I find it odd that SJM chose to emphasize that the Illyrians are NOT really faeries, whether High or "lesser". I honestly wonder why that is.) Regardless, there's nothing very faerie about SJM's High Fae, etc. except for their ethereal beauty and pointed ears and the fact that they can do magic, I guess.
I've already written about Aging and Lying when it comes to ACOTAR's Faeries, and I thought I'd touch on another aspect of faerie lore that SJM chooses to ignore. (Heh, that rhymes.)
Names.
His [Rhysand's] eyes shifted to my face. “What’s your name, love?” Giving him my name—and my family name—would lead only to more pain and suffering. He might very well find my family and drag them into Prythian to torment, just to amuse himself. But he could steal my name from my mind if I hesitated for too long. Keeping my mind blank and calm, I blurted the first name that came to mind, a village friend of my sisters’ whom I’d never spoken to and whose face I couldn’t recall. “Clare Beddor.” My voice was nothing more than a gasp. ~ACOTAR ch. 26
Clare and her family are killed because Rhys revealed that name to Amarantha, even though he admitted later (in the next book) that he thought she made it up. So, Feyre's fears were not unfounded, but once she is Under the Mountain with everyone else, she is still reluctant to give her name when Amarantha asks for it.
Lucien is even brought forward and refuses to give away Feyre's name. For his defiance, Amarantha orders Rhysand to shatter his mind before Feyre finally gives in and shouts her name for everyone to hear. The Lady of Autumn even repays her sacrifice by helping her with one of Amarantha's "household tasks".
What is the sacrifice, though? It would seem that the only reason Amarantha wants to know her name is because Feyre knows hers, and wants to address her "properly":
“Feyre,” Amarantha said, testing my name, the taste of the two syllables on her tongue. “An old name—from our earlier dialects. Well, Feyre,” she said. I could have wept with relief when she didn’t ask for my family name. “I promised you a riddle.” ~ACOTAR ch. 35
In traditional faerie lore, it is said that names have power, so giving a faerie your name gives them power over you. (It is important to note that they cannot take anything from you. It has to be given.)
There is a scene in Hayao Miyazaki's animated classic in which the young protagonist Chihiro signs a contract to work for the sorceress Yubaba. In a beautifully animated sequence, her signature floats away and into Yubaba's waiting palm. She literally signed away her name. Chihiro is then given a new name in exchange: Sen. By the next day, she has already forgotten her original name and her purpose (freeing her enchanted parents). It is only when another ensorcelled young man gives her the bundle of her old clothes with a card in the pocket (with her name written on it) that she remembers who she was, and why she's there.
I just think it could have been very interesting to give Feyre a similar plotline in ACOTAR. By giving Amarantha her name, she no longer has it, and can no longer remember it. (And since the story is told in first person, it's easier to convey.)
How she gets her name back could be handled in one of two ways: Lucien gives back her name like the true friend he is, or she doesn't remember it until the very end.
If we explore the second option, this is what I'm thinking: Amarantha sought to break Feyre in mind, body, and spirit. The one thing she could never take from Feyre was her love for Tamlin.
“I love you,” I said. “No matter what she says about it, no matter if it’s only with my insignificant human heart. Even when they burn my body, I’ll love you.” My lips trembled, and my vision clouded before several warm tears slipped down my chilled face. I didn’t wipe them away. ~ACOTAR ch. 43
In my Faeries and Lying essay (linked above), I think it would have been more powerful for Amarantha to want Feyre to admit to lying about her love for Tamlin. In the same vein, I think it would be that much more impactful for Feyre to admit that even if she does not know her own name, she knows she loves Tamlin, and that's enough.
It's the one thing Amarantha couldn't take from her. It's the reason Feyre went Under the Mountain in the first place. And most importantly, it's the answer to the riddle. Love. And that's enough.

30 Prompts for NaPoWriMo
Taken from my article on having a successful NaPoWriMo :)
Write about an object that has a lot of nostalgic value for you. As a bonus challenge, try to write about this object without directly stating what it is in your poem.
Write a poem about your hometown: how you feel about it, the connection you have to it, how it has shaped you (for better or worse).
Collect scraps of “junk writing”—spam mail, credit card bills, newspaper clippings, billboard text, etc. Stitch those texts together into a poem.
Write a poem about a piece of clothing that reflects something important or essential about who you are as a person.
Find something dark and hidden inside your brain, your body, your heart. Shine a light on it. What do you see?
Think of a memory where the details aren’t clear. Fill in the details in a poem.
It’s spring! Write about coming out of a long hibernation—either literal or metaphorical.
Flash of lightning. Crack of the baseball bat. Stoplight turns green. Write about a time when a seemingly mundane event created a stroke of inspiration.
You look into the lens of something—a camera, a telescope, a pair of binoculars, etc.—and something strange peers back at you. What do you see?
Write about an event that you might interpret as a sign from a higher power. This higher power could be a god, aliens, the universe, etc.
Write a poem in which two people begin as lovers and end as enemies. OR the other way around.
Write a poem about what keeps you warm. Perhaps it’s a hot cup of tea, the glow of a happy memory, or the light at the end of the tunnel.
Write a poem that involves diametrically opposing views about something simple. For example, two people might bicker over the proper way to brew coffee, or whether a hotdog is a sandwich.
What do you see in the mirror? Write a “self-portrait” poem.
Spend some time listening to other people talk. It can be in a public space, a voice on the radio or TV, or outside listening to your neighbors. (Just don’t get caught!) Use a line from someone else’s conversation as the starting place for a poem.
Write about two opposing yet co-existing realities.
Write about an important realization you had, at a time when you felt particularly alone.
What’s something you’ve seen hundreds, even thousands of times, but has never lost its beauty? Write an ode to this thing’s beauty.
“Apophenia” is the human tendency to see patterns in random information. Write a poem about patterns that seem to be connected, even if they’re completely random.
Write a poem in the form of a letter, addressed to a specific person.
Write a poem from the perspective of a detective. They’re not solving crime, necessarily—you might write about a detective for lost things, for past emotions, for new opportunities, etc.
Explain something to a younger version of yourself. How to survive heartbreak, solve differential equations, drive, avoid bad people, etc.
Write about a mundane task that (secretly) doubles as a magical ritual.
Smells are one of the most powerful triggers for memory. They also make for impactful imagery. Write a poem that begins with a smell. Let the smell waft into memory, then write from there.
Write a poem that uses all of these words: chartreuse, guide, safe, sweat, wall, presentation, manor, perfume.
Close your eyes, flip through a poetry book, and put your finger on a page. Whatever word you’re pointing at, use it as a title for your poem, and write from there.
Write a poem about family traditions: keeping them, breaking them, or anything else you can do with them.
Write a poem that begins at the end of something, then moves backwards.
Write a poem inspired a certain genre of music. Try to write in the style of that genre—for example, pop is rhythmic, rock alternates in staccatos and riffs, etc. (You might be interested in Jazz Poetry for inspiration. Learn about it here.)
“If _______ didn’t exist for a day.” Fill in the blank, and write about the results of something not existing – but only for 24 hours.

If the new characters did get brought into a paw and claws event (please devs) what animal do you think they would be?
I actually made this post here about what animals fit them in the same vein of Lucifer's being a peacock and Mammon's a crow etc.
But it's a little more difficult to match animals for the paws event for them because there those animals are a bit more random? Like yes okay there are some similarities between the animals and the characters but at the same time who would guess a giraffe for Levi?????
But here's my best guess:
1.) Thirteen
The Rosy Maple Moth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Pink = pink hair
• Yellow = yellow nail polish
• Moths are a symbol of death in some places
• As caterpillars they can deliver a venomous sting = her traps
• Keeping up the theme of pairing her with adorable creepy-crawlies
2.) Mephisto
Thoroughbred Horse Breed
Tumblr media
• The man likes horse so I figured I might as well give him a win
• One of the most expensive horse breeds = Mephisto being one of the richest demons
• Big and strong
• Good with kids
• Stubborn streak
• With a name like "thoroughbred" I can't stop thinking about Mephisto's thing against anyone who wasn't purely a demon.......
This ended with me going down a blackhole reading about different horse breeds....
3.) Raphael
Secretary Bird
Tumblr media
• Looks at Raphael's white clothes and black sleeves....Looks at this bird.... hmmmmm
• Beautiful but a bird of prey = angel who is more than willing to kill people
• "occasionally prey on larger mammals such as hedgehogs, mongooses, small felids such as cheetah cubs, striped polecats, young gazelles, and both young and full-grown hares." "venomous species such as adders and cobras are regularly among the types of snakes preyed upon" = is dangerous to demons
• "A bird will chase after prey with the wings spread and kill by striking with swift blows of the feet." "secretarybird relies on superior visual targeting to determine the precise location of the prey's head" = chasing down others and attacking using spears + him the the celestial realm's hitman
• "The Maasai people have used parts of the bird in traditional medicine" = Raphael being "the Angelic Prince of Healing" in religion
• Raphael's just more or less Michael's secretary in om!
I actually want to swap what I chose for Raphael's familiar animal with his paws event animal because this one fits way better as a familiar.
Bonus Round:
4.) Michael
Bottlenose Dolphin
Tumblr media
• Adorable
• Friendly
• Playful
• Energetic
• Intelligent
• Occasionally protects humans
• Can and will fuck you up if they feel like it in spite of the great reputation they have garnered

Fireflies can only be seen at night
Less and less to know what will happen to Doumeki and Yashiro in that empty room. Having survived the shock of discovering that Doumeki did have a tattoo, as always I couldn't stop thinking about the mystery so I started to do some research.
After reviewing information about yakuza tattoos, I believe in the theory that Doumeki has been getting this tattoo, better known as IREZUMI, for quite some time and that the last retouching that was done helped Yashiro realize, due to the injuries, that he was tattooed While theories of what Doumeki got tattooed abound everywhere, I want to focus on the deeper meaning of the act itself.
First of all, with the tattoo reveal, Doumeki finally showed that he was serious when he said that he would do anything to stay in Yashiro's world, just look at his reaction upon finding out.
Tumblr media
The last scene of the first arc shows us Doumeki plunging into the darkness going down the hospital stairs, then we see how he assures Amou that he is willing to go against his own principles in order to be close to "that" person and finally the statement he makes in the sake bar: "my time and my BODY belong to me", by the way, this is one of my favorite phrases. But words are carried away by the wind, so what better tangible display of his tenacity than getting a tattoo.
In Japanese culture, tattoos have always had a connotation related to the criminal world, so it is not uncommon for the yakuza not to display this art publicly, but there is something much deeper in the concept of privacy of Japanese mafia tattoos. Horiyoshi III, one of the most legendary and favorite tattoo artists of the yakuza, explains that he does not believe that they get tattoos to say that they are loyal to a group, rather it has to do with the ninkyō concept that means helping the people below you, therefore, when a yakuza gets a tattoo, he would want to show that he has the strength to help the weak. If we take this to saezuru I couldn't agree more because Doumeki finally had to reinvent himself to gain strength if he wants to protect Yashiro in any way.
Tumblr media
Horiyoshi III (in the image) also explained that the yakuzas only tattoo themselves in places of the body that are protected by their brand new suits, tattooing hands and neck would be prohibited by the afore mentioned. With this information I think I can understand Yoneda's vision of not showing Doumeki tattooed until the precise moment in the story arrived, the final rapprochement with the person he loves. Why would Doumeki have to be showing us as readers something that is so private to him?
This last thing made me remember that I had a book called Junichiro Tanizaki's Praise of the Shadow. The author through different disciplines such as architecture, art, design, etc. It shows us that fascination that the Japanese have since time immemorial for what cannot be seen so clearly. One of the examples that interested me the most was when he recounted how beautiful the Noh theater of yesteryear was where there weren't too many advances in lighting. The old theaters barely illuminated left enough, the development of the works of the moment, to the imagination of the assistants.
When I read this I couldn't help but relate it to Yashiro's phrase "being a yakuza is like being an actor", every time I read these cartoons I thought about contemporary actors but what if Yashiro was talking about traditional Noh theater actors. These actors are almost completely covered with their clothing, only their hands and neck are visible because their faces cannot be seen either because of the masks they use to represent the different characters.
Tumblr media
You don't know how excited I was when relating these facts and thinking about the moments in the manga where we discovered Yashiro wearing or removing that mask. On the other hand, Doumeki has always paid close attention to what Yashiro says and after several years it is not evident that he has become quite an actor to the point of deceiving many of the readers at some moments in the story.
My conclusion about the meaning and importance of the Doumeki tattoo is that Yoneda, as always, has masterfully known how to use Japanese tradition, delicacy and mystery to precisely show us everything under a dim light where each reader has to discover this story for himself because the beauty of all this is as Horiyoshi III said: "Fireflies can only be seen at night."

thinking ab the RAD yearbook... how when yearbook photos are taken, you'd barely been in the devildom for a month but lucifer is fussing over you making sure you make a good impression, as to not ruin the school's (diavolo's) image. He fixes your tie, presses hairs into place (frowns when they dont stick), smooths your coat, etc. he forces the brothers to polish their shoes and press their uniforms the night prior, and anyone who isn't up to dress code has a harsh punishment coming their way. he always looks perfect, so the most he does is press his uniform and perhaps take a little more time for his hair in the morning. photo is positively radiant (the brothers try to mess up his picture every year... they've tried everything.. hair dye instead of shampoo, hexed face wash, ruining his clothes, nothing works. its very frustrating). lucifer the beautiful fallen angel.. you're pretty sure he has a dedicated fan club that practically die from excitement every time the yearbook is released
mammon is the bane of lucifer’s existence. this little bitch can never wear his uniform correctly he just can’t figure out how to tie his tie goddamnit. he also complains endlessly about yearbook photos. how “it’s such a fuckin hassle” and “the stick up lucifer’s ass is shoved up even farther on picture day.” he is a model though, so he knows the right angles, and which side of his face is best, etc. so his pictures always come out looking absolutely gorgeous ur so jealous. just before he’s about to take his picture, if you run up to him, ruffle his hair, kiss his cheek, and tell him he looks cute he’ll have the goofiest lovestruck grin immortalized in the yearbook forever. If mephistopheles were to edit the yearbook photos to embarrass people, he literally wouldn’t touch mammons lol he thinks it’s so funny as is. mams is already so embarrassed. literally if anyone brings up the cute little blush on his cheeks it’s on sight.
leviathan is just. there. this is like one of the only times he’s actually at school (other than student council meetings) because he mostly does online classes. probably complains about missing an episode of The New Girl Next Door Leaves Every Night at 1AM So I Decide To Follow Her And It Turns Out She’s A Thousand Year Old Vampire Who Is Madly In Love With My Older Brother And Wants to Have His Babies or something like that. is kinda used to causal comfy clothes, so having to wear his uniform correctly makes him whiny and uncomfortable. he really likes loose things and the uniform is so crisp and tight and he swears his tie is cutting off blood flow to his head. probably has more of a grimace than a smile in the photo because of his discomfort. hates looking through the yearbook when it comes out. he has two brothers that are literally models and he looks like some creepy otaku :(( is very down on himself, and really self-critical, please give him some hugs and tell him u think he looks cute as hell in the picture. he’ll deny it and then cry into ur shoulder. help.
satan doesn't do much. fixes his bowtie (his bowtie is so cute and goofy i love him) and combs his hair through. probably the most normal and the least amount of a headache for lucifer (much to his dismay). maybe his camera smile looks a little menacing, but you know his true smile is sweet and soft. doesn't really care much about the yearbook, but will deface lucifer's photo (its a yearly tradition, thinks up new designs the whole year in preparation. will be overjoyed if u ask to brainstorm with him). overall satan is a cute ass dork and u love him for it.
asmodeus obviously takes yearbook photos very seriously, and engages in an intense spa day before hand. hair masks, face masks, nail masks, foot masks, everything. frets over his hair for ages, lucifer has to come and practically drag him away from his mirror because they're going to be late. would be the type to ask the photographer to retake a picture a billion times because he tilted his head in a weird direction, or his tie wasn't even, or his lashes aren't curled enough, or the lighting was a little too dark... always goes last. will force you to let him do your makeup and hair. ur just so cute he can’t help himself. once yearbooks come out he’ll gush about how cute you look and literally kiss ur tiny little paper face.
beelzebub is literally a pain in the ass. like, i love him, but his uniform probably has food stains and crumbs everywhere. lucifer has given up at this point. beebs doesn’t even smile. he’s just sitting stoically. literally just :| want food. it kinda works for him tho hes like hot intimidating beefcake who hardly ever smiles while u know hes the sweetest gentle giant towards u. like his genuine smile is so cute and aaaa omg i want to squish his cute little cheeks. but like literally crumbs everywhere lucifer can’t get him to be crumbless they're everywhere. beel gives 0 shits tho he literally couldn’t care less about the yearbook. mephi could literally photoshop a naked feminine body on to him and he’d just be like. “ok. *nom nom nom*” will literally glow if u tell him he looks cute in his yearbook pic though.
belphegor is annoying but just because he is #2tired2care. his uniform is messed up because he napped in it waiting for his turn and now his hair is messed up and his tie is crumpled. would literally be late for his picture because he fell asleep somewhere waiting. probably has half-lidded, sleepy eyes and a drowsy smile OR just a sly smirk. definitely leaves immediately afterward to the hol and naps the rest of the day. also doesn't give a shit ab the yearbook v2. he’s got better things to do than care about a single yearbook pic. he’s got hundreds more.

I don’t understand why anime men can be drawn looking handsome while also looking normal and wearing normal clothes, but sososo often, anime women are drawn looking like their tits are going to pop out of their bras and/or they wear provocative outfits.
Do men (or male artists anyway) not care if a woman is beautiful if she isn’t being revealing? Do her facial features, the way she carries herself, her hair, etc. not matter so long as she’s not trying to act like a seductress?
Tumblr media
From my own experience with men I can only say one thing- they are liars. Or at least they like lying to themselves.
They will oftentimes say that they don't like women who reveal feminine features, but they do. Men like women and they like objectifying them. Bc if men are straight, logically, they're attracted to women. Bc woman's body is pretty and not just in a sexual sense. Sometimes it's just pretty for looking at; like art, nude modeling and act. Worshipped even. Woman's body is prettier than man's body in so many ways. But I think this beauty shouldn't be so heavily sexualized like it's often the case in the east. Japan has so much explicit content that they even have categorized shops at every corner, in public spaces. I don't know how Japanese women feel about this but statistics show that their birth rate is slowly declining. Besides poor economic situation, women don't feel respected or loved enough. And the feminism has risen in this part of the world as well.
Anyways, back to the point- I respect Gege for keeping his characters neat and the story heavily plot oriented without much fanservice (men are the fanservice lol). Gege also says that his parents are reading the manga so I suppose he doesn't rly want to feel like a disgrace lmao. I'm not sure if this was his marketing strategy to interest women into shōnen genre but it definitely worked, now jjk has become one of the most popular series of all time. And it's ok to have Mei Mei as one token representative of a "sexy woman" stereotype although I wouldn't rly call her sexy either. She's just a beautiful woman.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What definitely helps the whole situation is Gege's taste in fashion. No male mangaka that I know ever paid attention to this one very important factor. Fashion is a type of expression, and it can tell a lot about the character themselves without incorporating their personality in words. With that said, jjk women have so much personality to them, it's fascinating.
Mei Mei and Mai could be considered sexy, Utahime is a traditional authoritative beauty, Nobara is very stylish and confident, Maki is a strong tomboy girl, Miwa and Momo are girly and cute, Ozawa is a shy girl, Shoko is your typical CEO woman, Yuki is a biker girl. And some of them have short or tied up hair which is nice bc it can be just as feminine as long hair. He even introduced women's insecurities like Ozawa being overweight and that Yuuji didn't mind bc he found her writing and table manners pretty. Momo's outlook on woman's prejudice in jujutsu world is also something important to adress. Yuuta is shown kissing Rika bc what they're having is true love and true love doesn't know shallow boundaries. Gege understands woman's struggle.
In an interview, Gege revealed that he has similar mindset to Megumi and that he doesn't want to sexualize women as much. The way he treats woman body is purely artistic. At least watching these panels didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Regarding Mei Mei's and Ui Ui's relationship, yea it's a taboo. But I think that author didn't want to promote incest, rather, he wanted to show that Mei Mei is a woman with flaws. And flaws are something that makes a person interesting, together with their virtues. She also likes money. To the point that Gojo made fun of her by flipping a coin to summon her bc apparently, Mei Mei lacks self-respect.
In contrast to her, Utahime respects herself too much. That's why she's often hysterical and Gojo tells her that hysterics won't win men (Gojo is a real mansplainer huh).
Gojo is rude and so is Sukuna. But Miwa and Yorozu don't even notice a man's flaw if they're interested in him (Gege knows a woman's mind too well, which is funny). That's why he's asking ladies to vote for Nanami instead of Gojo in popularity poll (women should set aside shallow interests and concentrate on person's kind soul).
Unlike them, Shoko is aloof and rational bc she's too aware of fleetingness of life, especially in her line of work as a doctor. Sure, she can be friendly and smile a lot, but she doesn't want to form any strong relationships with anyone. This is the only way she can keep her sanity in check. After all, jujutsu is just a marathon where the finish line is a pile of friends' corpses. Something the younger generations are a bit immature to understand.
Nobara is a very stubborn girl, she sometimes comes off as too bossy or rude (Yuuji calls her a bitch lol). But it turns out this was only her defense mechanism with people she's unfamiliar with bc she didn't want to be underestimated for being a country girl of limited thoughts and experience. Bc Nobara is indeed a great girl with many talents.
Maki is a strong, independent woman but this doesn't mean that she refuses help and support from people around her. She likes guys who are stronger than her (and Yuuta comes into picture, besides, he also suggested that he wants to crush Zenin clan together which explains her liking to him). Panda noticed that and wanted to play a wingman. Although his boobs question (Maki's insecurity) was a bit inappropriate (but it got the point across), Yuuta's answer was very polite which made him more likeable in her eyes.
Yuki and Todo are similar bc they're nosy, they enjoy exploring different people's interests and judge them whether they're considered "a person of culture" (which adds to the series' comedic aspect). I love Haibara's answer bc he says "I like women who eat a lot" bc he knows that women who eat are happy and that a hungry woman is an angry woman.
Gege understands women so much that fans are contemplating whether Gege is actually a woman himself or not. It's nice to have a mangaka who's this mindful.
