Soo... James Gunn just announced some new movies coming out. So I wanted to share it and tell you what I think about it.
Also, the new Flash movie will appereantly reset the time line. Matt Reeve's Batman will continue as an Elseworld. Aquaman is still coming out. Anyways here it is:
Tumblr media
A lot of people may not like this since Henry Cavill won't be playing Supes, and as much as I'm dissapointed because of that, I'm still looking forward to this.
Tumblr media
You guys don't know this, but Midnighter is one of my favorite characters ever. I just hope they adapt this properly and not screw up like the Wildstorm comic did.
Tumblr media
A new Batman? I like that. Grant Morrison's run? Fuck no. I'd prefer Tomasi's writing every single day. I just hope they don't make Talia a rapist or ruin Damian's character or sideline him. But I'd also like to see other Batfam members on the screen so...
Tumblr media
I'm really split into two on this one. On one hand, it could be really awesome. On the other hand, why not put her in the Superman movie first as an introduction, so when you make her movie you won't need to pass over the origin story and instead focus on the current one. Also see for yourself how is her chemistry on the screen. But I'm hopeful on this.
Tumblr media
This is plain awesome. Swamp thing is one of the most intriguing and powerful charcaters on DC. And with it being Moore's run, we can see characters like Deadman, Spectre and PHANTOM STRANGER!! I'm just really excited on this one.
Tumblr media
To be honest, this is the first time I'm hearing of these characters. So I don't really have opinions on them. But it will be animated, so this could turn out interesting.
Tumblr media
I have 0 interest in this. Why is this even necessary? I don't know what to feel for this one.
Tumblr media
BOOSTER GOLD TV SHOW!! I fucking love this. Finally, he is getting the attention he deserves. And the fact that we can see Blue beetle in this? Amazing.
Tumblr media
I think we all expected this one. Personally, I'm invested in this. And the fact that it's a tv show? Great!
Tumblr media
I don't think this will be really interesting, but I hope I'm wrong. Maybe we can even see some Greek Gods. That could be exciting.
What do you guys think of these announcements?

DC's Terrors Through Time (2022) Readthrough
In the spirit of Halloween, I believe it is time to crack open one of DC holiday specials. It is time for DC’s Terror Through Time.
Tumblr media
The book starts with a Phantom Stranger Story written by Paul Levitz and art by Raul Fernandez. This is basically a story showing Phantom Stranger fighting all types of ghouls and goblins on Halloween. And that’s it. A very mid story to start the book off with.
The comic then goes to a Super-Sons story by Sholly Fisch with art by Luciano Vecchio. Now this is a fun story. Superboy (Jon Kent) and Robin (Damian Wayne) decide to go trick-or-treating together and wear each other costumes. The pair go to various locations throughout the DC Universe to get candy, but none of the superheroes are there. So, they go to the Hall of Justice where The Justice League are captured by some demons who escaped from hell for Halloween night. The Super-Sons have to distract the demons until the spell that will send them to hell kicks in.
The next story is Gotham City Sirens story with plot and art by Peter V. Nguyen. The story starts in Hawaii in 1995 (there is no reason for it to be 1995, except for a bad joke Harley makes) with Harley Quinn, Catwoman, and Poison Ivy meeting up. The trio discover that animals are going missing/dying. To solve this mystery, the girls go out to the jungles of the big island.
When they get to center of island, they discover the island god Pueo and the marching dead. And he tries to attack the girls, blaming man of the sickness on the island. But when they calm down a little, the Sirens realizes that it is the cats causing a disturbance on the isle. The god makes a deal with Catwoman to get the felines out of Hawaii or else Pueo will take more extreme measures.
Tumblr media
Nguyen has a very distinct style that won’t be for everyone. This is a story where art will make or break it for you.
Then the book tells a story with classic DC supernatural force Swamp Thing. It is written by Zac Thompson with art by Andy McDonald. And this is a post-nuclear apocalypse story. Two people are gathering food out in the swamp when a two-headed gator monster attacks them. Swamp Thing arrives and manages to stall the creature until the pair escape. Many years later, the girl comes back to swamp and is attacked by the swamp monster, but this time Swamp Thing manages to kill it. A very simple, but well-enough told story for the season.
We go to the old school with JSA story by Charles Skaggs and Tom Mandrake. This takes place in 1944, and the JSA are afraid that the Nazis will get a power mystical artifact. However, the group is too late because the artifact is already active, releasing all types of horrors. The team is split up to face challenges from the supernatural horrors alone, but Dr. Midnight arrives to assist in freeing the rest of the team. Before the JSA can stop this menace, they have to awaken Dr. Fate to break the spell. The JSA wins the day and it the terror is over… OR IS IT?
Tumblr media
The book then gets a little cosmic with a Green Lanterns story by Jeremy Haun and art by Juan Doe. In the far-out year of 2447, a pair of lanterns explore an empty sector of space. The two come across a large creepy tower. When they enter the Lanterns come across mysterious chanting and sacrifices being made. But weird insect-like creatures attack the pair. They fight off the bugs, but they fail to stop the sacrifice. An eldritch creature almost escapes but a Lantern sacrifices himself to stop it. However, before surviving Lantern can get breath, she is alerted to 6 more signatures matching the creature that attacked them.
A very good use of the concept of Green Lanterns without using characters modern readers might expect. Touches on the emptiness that space can hold. A real highlight of this anthology.
We lose the dawn of man with the rise of Etrigan with story by Matthew Levine and art by Jorge Corona. We start in the medieval ages in a village where kids are going missing. Luckily a wandering Jason Blood comes to town to stop this demon. He manages to go to the lair of the demon. Blood releases Etrigan to fight the demon. Etrigan saves the kids and buries the demon under rubble. The demon alerts Etrigan he will be back in several centuries, assuming Blood would be dead by then. However, Jason Blood does not play like most mortals and arrives to finally slay the demon. A fun story but nothing special.
Tumblr media
The anthology ends with a tale by the most famous creators, Tim Seeley writing and Kelley Jones on art. They tell a Damian Wayne and Deadman story together. And yup, it is a banger of a story, with amazing creepy art by Jones.
It opens on Deadman haunting Wayne Manor, and he gets stabbed by Damain with a silver spoon. Brand came to warn Batman that a vengeance demon is after him. But in a twist, when the demon attacks, it goes after Damain: the boy who killed him. Deadman and Robin try to fight the demon, but only succeed when Deadman when something more powerful claimed his soul. Damain thinks Deadman was bluffing, but the truth is something evil has chosen Robin to do its will.
Overall, this anthology was a fun read. It was a bad choice to start off with its weakest story (The Phantom Stranger), but this has many strong stories in it (Both Damian ones, the future Green Lantern). Overall, while not scary, the comic makes for a fun reading experience.
7/10

The first 10 projects in the works for the DC Universe have been unveiled by DC Studios chiefs James Gunn and Peter Safran. The current plans see the DCU kick off with 5 series and 5 films, spanning live-action and animated TV series and theatrical films.
“Here at DC, we have Metropolis, Gotham, Themyscira, Atlantis, Bialya… This is the world that we’re creating,” Gunn shares. “We’re coming into a world where superheroes exist and have existed for some time in one form or another, and that’s the universe. We are telling a big, huge central story [...]. What we’re starting with today is the first part of the first chapter of our universe,” reveals Safran. “The first chapter’s called ‘Gods and Monsters.’ Many of the following projects are already being worked on, but we’re remaining flexible and we’re going to adjust because we’re never going to put a project into production before the script is right. This is a general timeline, but there will be flexibility within it.”
Among the 10 projects, Gunn and Safran announced one animated series (Creature Commandos), four live-action series (Waller, Lanterns, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold) and five theatrical films (Superman: Legacy, The Authority, The Brave and the Bold, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Swamp Thing).
Currently, of all the projects, only Superman: Legacy has a release date planned for July 11, 2025. More details under the cut:
The projects listed below are in order of announcement. No other release date has been unveiled yet. All the series will be released on HBO Max, and all the films in theaters.
“Creature Commandos” — Series, animated The main characters appearing in the series will be The Bride of Frankenstein, Eric Frankenstein, Rick Flag Sr., Nina Mazursky, Doctor Phosphorus, G.I. Robot and Weasel.
“Waller” — Series, live-action Viola Davis will reprise her role as Amanda Waller, with characters from the live-action Peacemaker series appearing as regulars too. Christal Henry (Watchmen) and Jeremy Carver (Doom Patrol) will write the series. The story will be set between the first season of Peacemaker and the second.
“Superman: Legacy” (2025) — Film, live-action Not an origin story, the James Gunn written film will focus on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing. The film has been set for a July 11, 2025 release date.
“Lanterns” — Series, live-action Starring two of the most famous Green Lanterns — Hal Jordan and John Stewart — it’s going to be more of a True Detective-type mystery, a terrestrial-based mystery that leads into the overall story that will be told throughout the different movies and television shows of the DCU. “We find this ancient horror on Earth, and these guys are basically supercops on ‘Precinct Earth.’” — James Gunn
“The Authority” — Film, live-action A lot of WildStorm imprint characters will be included in the DCU, and this is an example. The Authority will focus on a group of characters who are good-intentioned, but they think that the world is completely broken and the only way to fix it is to take things into their own hands, whether that means killing people, destroying heads of state, changing governments—basically, whatever they want to do to make the world better.
“Paradise Lost” — Series, live-action Paradise Lost will be envisioned as a Game of Thrones-type story about Themyscira/Paradise Island, home of the Amazons and the birthplace of Wonder Woman. The story will take place before Diana’s birth and will involve all the darkness and political matters behind the society of Themyscira.
“The Brave and the Bold” — Film, live-action This will mark the introduction of the DCU’s Batman. Not Robert Pattinson, not Ben Affleck. This is a story of Damian Wayne, who’s Batman’s actual son that he didn’t know existed for the first eight to ten years of his life. He was raised as a little murderer and assassin. It will be based on the Grant Morrison comic run. Other members of the Bat-Family will be included as well.
“Booster Gold” — Series, live-action Booster Gold is a total fan favorite. A loser from the future who uses his basic future technology to come back to today to pretend to be a superhero. Per Gunn, “it as basically the story of a superhero’s imposter syndrome. How do you deal with that? (It’s about) how he tries to use this future technology to be loved by the people of today and what is really at the base of that. It’s a character story that’s going to be a very different type of show.”
“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” — Film, live-action In this story, which will be based on Tom King (and Bilquis Evely)’s wonderful comic, “we have Superman who was sent to Earth and raised by incredibly loving parents while Kara was on Krypton. She was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and she lived there for the first fourteen years of her life in a horrible situation where she watched everyone around her die. She will be a much harsher Supergirl than you’ve been used to thus far.”
“Swamp Thing” — Film, live-action According to Peter Safran, “it’s important to point out that in these stories, although they’re interconnected, they’re not all tonally the same. Each set of filmmakers bring their own aesthetic to these films, and the fun is seeing how these tonally different works mash up in the future. This is brought us to include a film that will investigate the dark origins of [the very-well known character of] Swamp Thing.”

October 1944. Born on Monday: The debut of one of the most fearsome of DC's Golden Age villains, the monstrous Solomon Grundy, in a story written by noted science fiction author Alfred Bester. Although he looked like Universal's Frankenstein Monster (then appearing with Dracula and the Wolf Man in a popular series of monster movies), Grundy was actually a kind of swamp monster, built around the skeleton of murdered miser Cyrus Gold. As Green Lantern explains:
Tumblr media
Grundy's origin is very similar to that of the Hillman Comics muck-monster The Heap, who had first appeared in the Sky Wolf story in AIR FIGHTERS COMICS #3 (December 1942), although the Heap had originally been a WW1 German flying ace, Baron Emmelmann. (The Heap later inspired Swamp Thing and Man-Thing.) However, all of these characters ultimately had their roots in a Theodore Sturgeon short story called "It," first published in the pulp magazine UNKNOWN in 1940.
Because Solomon Grundy is immune to Alan's power ring (which didn't work on wood), Alan eventually deals with him by shoving the monster in front of an oncoming freight train. However, as any horror movie fan could tell you, it's not so easy to kill something that's dead to begin with. Grundy would return three more times in the Golden Age, next appearing in the Green Lantern story in COMIC CAVALCADE #13 (Winter 1945).
