to the anon who suggested this idea: I hope you know it has become a permanent installment of my before-bed-fantasy-dream-time. this is very much inspired by the Andrew/Amelia Golden Globe's interview, hence the title. thanks to @hereyeswerefilledwiththestars for the reader's interview theme I appreciate you bestie <33 hope you all enjoy comments and feedback is always appreciated. ilysm

“I think you’re being summoned.”

“Am I?”

You watch in professional disbelief as Harry Styles turns in profile to find that, yes, his publicist is waving him onto the next interview.

“Oh, yeah,” he pouts, “So sad, I was having such a good time chatting.”

“Don’t worry,” you reply with an air of chumminess you can’t quite believe is coming across as effortless, “We’ll find a time soon, darling, I promise.”

“They can’t keep us apart, I won’t let them,” he declares, “Keep up the good work.”

“I’ll certainly try!” You call after his retreating back. As soon as he’s out of ear and eye shot you double over, wheezing to the camera man, “I can’t believe I just had a full conversation with him.”

It’s the 2023 Britt Awards and British GQ has hired you as a representative for the red carpet, after your web series gained popularity and got you noticed by large publications across Europe and America. In a world where every interview has to have a schtick, yours is called “Two Drink Minimum,” a show where you invite celebrities out for at least two drinks and ask them increasingly more ridiculous questions as the night progresses. So far, you’ve hosted names such as Pedro Pascal, Bryce Dallas Howard and Jonathon Van Ness and in the new year, it seems like everyone’s publicist is in your inbox asking for a feature. Your career has led you to a lot of “pinch me” moments, but watching Harry Styles’ ever-sequined back sauntering away from you calls for a punch square in the face.

Suddenly, a male voice pulls you from your star-struck stupor.

“I was hoping you’d be here.”

You start, spinning around to come face to face with the man who decorated both your high school bedroom and college dorm room, and your phone lockscreen for as long as you can remember having one. Matty Healy, wearing a dark green suit and an amused smile.

You press a hand to your chest, “You scared me-”

Instinctively, he reaches for your forearm, “-oh no, I didn’t mean to scare you-”

You grip the sleeve of his suit, hardly believing his real skin and bone is beneath it, “-you just materialized out of nowhere-”

“-I was just so excited to see you, I couldn’t help myself.” He giggles — really giggles.

You can feel your face heating up in spite of yourself, “Wha- excited to see me? Matty Healy please-”

“No, really, ask the boys I’ve been dying to meet you.”

The knowledge that the men of the 1975 have even mentioned your name, let alone had full conversations about you, is almost too much to handle. You search for a word, anything really, that might be appropriate. Your brain feels like hot pea soup.

“And where is your… gang this evening?”

His brow furrows, you immediately regret saying anything. Staring at him might’ve even been better.

His lips turn up at the end, “Gang?-”

You’re already explaining yourself, “I don’t know why I said that you’re-”

He’s smiling full on now, like he knows something you don’t,“Yeah, there’s a name for what we are, love, it’s a-”

“- A band, I’m sorry it’s just that I’ve been talking to Harry Styles and I’ve lost all cognitive ability,” you joke, gesturing wildly at your forehead.

He rolls his eyes, the smile becomes a smirk, “Oh that’s it, is it, you’re still thinking about him? Should I leave, should I go find him for you?” He points his thumb behind him, already turning to go.

You reach for his arm again, giggling at his sarcasm, “No, no, Matty that’s not what I meant-”

“- No it’s alright, I don’t want to stand in the way of true love.” He waves one hand at you, the other loosely holds your finger tips.

“No, honestly what it is is that I’m actually getting really nervous around you but I was embarrassed so I used Harry as a cover,” Truer words had never been spoken.

He’s nodding, a single strand of hair tickling his eyebrows,“Oh, there’s the backpedal, no it’s alright the damage is done, I see where I stand. Just England’s second best male pop star, that’s alright.”

You whistle through your teeth, donning a jokingly skeptical look,“I don’t know, I feel like Ed Sheeran might have that title.”

His mouth actually falls open at that,“Ed Shee- right I’m leaving, you’ve slandered me for the last time-”

You’re laughing now, the nerves have gone. It feels like you’ve been old friends forever,“No! Matty, don’t give up on us-”

He shakes his head, looking away from you into the crowd, “-after I was so kind and complimentary to you-”

“- you’re right I’m the worst, I’m awful-”

“-telling you how excited I was to see you, practically baring my soul-”

“- please come back, let’s talk about this!”

“Ok, fine you’ve convinced me.” He circles back to you, clasping his hands in front of him. His eyes make a trail from your eyes to your mouth to your necklace back to your eyes. If you weren’t blushing before you certainly are now.

You take a deep breath, “Ok, now you were telling me where your band is.”

“Yeah, they’re queueing at the Glam Bot.”

“Oh, is there a line?”

“Yeah, it’s ages long too, I couldn’t stand there any longer. George is gonna text me when we’re up.”

“Do you have your pose planned?” You ask.

“No, and I’ll tell you what we should probably figure that out because that thing is proper intimidating.”

“Yeah, it comes at you awfully fast doesn’t it?”

“Yes! It’s so fast, I get nervous just watching it.”

“Matty Healy? Afraid of a robot?”

He frowns with his whole face, leaning backwards,“No, no, I’m not. I’m a big guy, I don’t get scared-”

You roll your eyes, laughing through your nose,“That’s right I forgot, forgive me.”

“-It’s fine, just try to remember next time,” He winks at you, just barely so much so you think you might have imagined it, “No, I’m mostly just scared that I’ll blink or something stupid.”

You make a noise of agreement, “Do you want to practice not blinking?”

He bites his lip in thought,“How would we do that, exactly?”

“Easy, we’ll just have a staring contest.”

“Oh yeah, okay .”

You square off, each of you closing your eyes in preparation.

“Ok,” you say, “Counting us down. Three, two, one, go.”

You open your eyes and are immediately met with his stare, dark amber, autumn leaves and the forest at sunrise, maple and mahogany. Your breath catches in your throat. He’s smirking at you again, as if he can read your thoughts. You try to think about neutral things, dogs, going to the grocery store tomorrow, how much your feet hurt right now, just in case he can.

“My eyes hurt already,” You whisper.

He doesn’t say anything, just hums something under his breath. It all feels strangely intimate, all these people in the room and he’s staring at you like you’re the first person he’s ever seen in his life. An idea washes over you suddenly. He’s rocking back and forth slightly on his heels. Just as he moves forward, you lift your hand and snap your fingers in front of his nose. He blinks immediately.

“Ha! You blinked!”

“That’s cheating!” He’s indignant, his Northern accent evident.

“It’s not cheating, I’m just preparing you!” You laugh as he shakes his head, running a hand through his hair.

“This is so unfair,” he rubs his dry eyes with the heel of his palm.

You pout sarcastically at him. “I’m so sorry, I hope someday you can forgive me.”

“It might take a while,” He wrinkles his nose at you, then is distracted by his phone lighting up i his pocket, “Oh, George is demanding I come back now.”

Your stomach falls slightly, “Yes, go back to your-”

“Gang?” he raises his eyebrows.

“-exactly.”

He touches your arm again, the skin tingles, “So sorry to leave you, I feel like that was probably the most worthless interview you’ve done all night-”

You laugh.

“Not like that it was bad, I just feel like I didn’t give you anything whatsoever.”

You place your hand over your heart, “Don’t worry, it was very impactful to me.”

“Ok, well that’s all that matters,” He’s inching away, lingering slightly, “Maybe we uh… maybe we can have a redo on your show.”

You hum agreement, “Now there’s an idea, Healy.”

“I have good ones sometimes.” He shrugs, thumbs in his pockets.

“I’ll have my people get in touch with your people,” You say, and before you can stop yourself, shoot him a pair of finger guns.

He’s almost turned away, but does a double take, laughing, “Did you just finger gun me?”

“Pretend that didn’t happen.”

“Sure. I’ll see you in there.”

He walks away, giggling still, looking over his shoulder at you. You retreat to the bathroom to call your roommate in hysterics.

I'm glad you have a sense of humor or at least realized that the killed a man question was supposed to be funny.

Lemme preface this by saying some of your questions about me I'm happy to answer, but others I'd like to leave until after the reveal if you'd still like them then. Gotta try and make it hard to identify me if you let curiosity get the better you.

Jongdae is a sweet man and deserves the world, I'm so happy for him getting the family he's wanted. Hopefully, we'll get a new album from him eventually. Did you have a favourite of his songs? Or a favourite bit of his from an exo song?

I do game a bit, although I've never played mass effect or far cry, I stick with the final fantasy and legend of Zelda franchises. Though assassin creed did catch my eye during the ff15 crossover event and I briefly contemplated playing it. I get the finding some semblance of peace actually...final fantasy 15 has a fishing option too though I'm more likely to pop that in and follow the storyline as I wander the world rather than fish. Same goes for Zelda really, I'm more of a start the game over and revisit the world and actions through the story line sort of person.

Problems are a valid creation lol. But gif making? That's a labour of love as far as I'm concerned, I've seen what goes into making gifs and gif makers have all of my respect for the work they do. Same goes for fic writers, fanartists, etc theres so much that goes into producing fan content and its amazing what people do for the things they enjoy.

What sort of things do you write? I'm afraid I haven't familiarized myself with your work. Do you have a favourite genre to write for? What about reading while we're talking about it?

Speaking of reading I squealed so loudly when I read the words gunslinger!!! That is one of my most favorite series ever in the history of ever. Please tell me you've read all of them. Lie if you must lol. Really though, "The man in black fled west across the desert and the gunslinger followed" is an epic opening line and it gives me chills even just typing it out. And don't get me started on when Jake told Roland "Go then, there are other worlds than these." And then purposefully fell. One act that sent Roland on his path to further redemption. The whole series is a masterpiece truly.

You said horror and scifi....I'm not much for horror, but some sci-fi I can do. I generally stick with fantasy and comedy and dramas tbh when I consume media. But there are a few notable exceptions namely the three star franchises...Stargate, Star Trek, and Star Wars. Also Doctor Who...not that my brain equates the doctor with sci-fi lol. Though some are more familiar to me than others. What sort of sci-fi are you into?

Uh most watched YouTube? Well my go to channels are nate the hoof guy and north of the border. I tend to stick them on as background noise since they're easy to follow along with without having to actually pay attention. I do listen to music sometimes when I create though when i do its whatever helps me concentrate best at that moment. Sometimes it's something wordless so I can just immerse myself in whatever I'm working on, or it's a certain song on repeat that I can fade into if that makes sense.

Best part of fandom is its people tbh. As for what I like to create....edits, moodboards, fic, eventually I'd like to try my hand at videos and sound mixing there's a few mash-ups on YouTube that are so cool. I also like to create food, and I love to fingerpaint. I absolutely suck at it but it's fun and messy and a great way to relax, I highly recommend it!

Speaking of creating, I'm not sure what I'll have the time for gift creation wise so how about you give me a few suggestions for themes for the edits or the moodboards, ( I can also do icons/headers/lockscreens) and maybe what you'd be looking for in a fic? Au?, type(angst,fluff,slice of life etc)? member?, that sort of thing.

Now for a a few new questions.... do you have any blog recommendations on here? People you enjoy interacting with or content creators whose work you enjoy. How about exo fanarts or artists? Do you enjoy those? Do you have any favorites?

Jongdae does indeed deserve the world! he's so lucky, too, to be blessed with not just one child but two! My favourite song of his is definitely Good Night! So, so beautiful T_T and definitely one of my favourite songs of all time.

oh heck yeah!! FF and LOZ! I have a FF on my shelf to play but haven't gotten around to it (I have many brand new games on my shelf that still need to be unwrapped, I'm so behind >.<). I don't have a Switch so I haven't played BotW but it sure does look fantastic. I think my last LOZ game was... A Link to the Past on GBA... no, nevermind, I just checked and I had Phantom Hourglass too. But my favourite was Wind Waker on GameCube!!

I'm hoping they remaster the first AC! To me, in my personal opinion, not confirmed (I'm just hoping!!) they kinda hinted that maybe they would?? at Ubisoft Connect this year! so I'm really hoping!! because I never actually finished it T_T I got pretty much to the end, too. Le sigh. I'm so close! But I lost my original save files on one of my earlier consoles >.<

I'm hesitant to replay older games because everyone is doing remasters or remakes these days! I bought the DLC for the Mass Effect games a few months before the remaster was announced with all the DLC included lmfao

I started playing FC6 again the other night (never finished it, oops) and my first achievement of the night was for catching fish so I think it's safe to say I'm obsessed with that mechanic haaaa.

I get that! I like to replay games for the story, too. Sometimes I even lower the difficulty if I'm in a mood to experience the story rather than the gameplay. That way I can finish it quicker! And I won't do 100% completion runs (like checking every planet in ME).

Playing through your favourite games is self-care! -- me, who is spending all my time gaming lately instead of being on here and responding to you in a timely manner (sorry!!).

It really is! I always knew it was hard to do but my God, I didn't realise the true extent of it. GIF creators are amazing. And you're so write!! Anyone making fan content is perfect, talented, and lovely. So wonderful, truly.

That's fine and also please DO NOT feel like you have to! You needn't read any of my fics!

I mainly write... well, I was going to say smut and yandere but my fluff masterlist is the longest so I definitely sneak those in quite often. My favourite genres to write for are the same as the ones I read! I know some people don't like to mix business with pleasure, but I love writing horror and sci-fi! Though I will admit I haven't written space-based sci-fi yet. And if a book or fic is sci-fi or horror, I will try it out. If it's a sci-fi horror or just based in space?? I WILL read it there and then!

OH HELL YES!! Another Dark Tower fan!! Dude, it's freaking PERFECT! You even quoted my favourite line T_T While it does have one of the best opening lines in the history of ever, Jake's "Go then, there are other worlds than these" really just punches me in the gut every time I think about it!! King really outdid himself with that series, my God. The Gunslinger will probably always be my favourite but I'm enjoying every book so far!

But, ahem, I'm still on the fourth book! I miss Blaine the Train T_T he was so much fun! I'm currently finishing Paolini's To Sleep In A Sea of Stars and then I will be go back to listening to Wizard and Glass!

Yes, I love me so good horror! I used to be, hmm, opposed to horror films because every year my birthday was overshadowed with Halloween (lol, don't judge me, I'm opening up here), but now I love them (and Halloween) so much!! And sci-fi... to vaguely quote Markiplier, "I'd sign up on a mission to space even if I knew 100% I would die".

I also don't really think of Doctor Who as sci-fi even though it is! haha, funny. I love the original 6 Star Wars films! I named my kitty cat after Anakin! I haven't watched the new ones yet tho. And, haha, I watched the original Star Trek series after watching the new films. So great, so classic!! I named a kitty cat after Cumberbatch's Khan, too. I never watched much Stargate aside from the original film.

I enjoy any sci-fi that is based in space! Interstellar is my favourite film right now~ and it used to be Avatar which is getting its second film soon!! I told myself I don't even like Avatar that much anymore and then watched the trailer and BOOM obsessed once more haha!

I don't know Nate the Hoof Guy or North of the Border. What type of content do they make? If I had to pick individual channels I like then I would go with Slogo and Markiplier (gaming) and Nick Crowley and Watcher (horror/paranormal investigations/stories etc).

What kind of music do you listen to when you create? Do you have any specific songs/playlists rn? and yes, that makes perfect sense! I like to repeat / loop music when I write, too.

Wow! You're a jack of all trades! that's so cool T_T edits and moodboards require such skill and talent and an eye for design. I also want to try out audio mixing. I make youtube videos occasionally so it would be fun to learn! You cook?? omg, you really are so !!! you know??? I can't cook, like, at all. Finger painting...? I think I'd be too OCD to do it T_T I freak out a little when my hands get dirty haha. I've been better about it lately but I had an episode the other day--- why am I talking about this? lol, I always ramble T_T

No worries at all~ don't stress yourself out over the gift. It's not a big deal! For edits and moodboards, my go-to request is always Jongdae and thunderstorms! For fics... I don't read for Jongdae but if it's platonic then I would! or a Baekhyun fic~ Anything genre wise except angst and MCD.

@merinaart does the most amazing artwork ever! my favourite artist on the site tbh! @mel-loves-all is one of the sweetest people ever and she used to host this event! @myeoning-call makes some really amazing content, too! and she was my first giftee <3 and @your-sophie18 is my new friend, oml, love her + she tags me in cool things about EXO <3 such a real one. Then I can't forget my lovely @achenlove who made me the cutest little Chen drawing last year T_T I still cherish it!

oh,.. I kinda included the CCs I like to interact with ^ up there. I don't really interact with people that aren't moots very often, and when I do it's just to reblog and leave feedback on fics. I'm not very outgoing like that! hmm... how about you tell me some CCs you like and I'll check them out? or blog recs in general!

Tips for overcoming writer’s block

Set a word target for the day: 200 words, 500 words, 1000 words and type until you reach the target. Write, write, just write. Even if you think it sounds bad, just write!

Repeat these 2 mantras: “Anything is better than nothing” and “It’s always better to have something to edit than a blank page”.

Read through what you’ve written for the chapter so far, instead of trying to start from where you left off. Even if you make a single edit to your existing draft — it’s progress. And reading through what you’ve written gets you in the flow of the story and can carry you forward from where you left off.

Read your draft aloud! Read it with emotion, with fervour, like you’re on stage. Think of authors who gathered their friends in one room and read out their writing to them. Imagine that! Plus this technique can also help you make the best edits, as you catch things that you wouldn’t normally through silent reading and you also catch parts that don’t flow well.

If you’re stuck in a scene or can’t figure out a character’s reaction to a situation, talk to yourself. Literally discuss with yourself how this scene should go in your opinion. Ask yourself these questions: so what would you feel if you were in this character’s place? What would happen next?

Another technique is walking. The best ideas can come when you’re taking walks. Even more amazing if you put the music that fits your scene on your phone and go walking outside. Tell yourself: “Today I’m gonna figure out this specific scene or write this many words.”

READ BOOKS! Reading books forms new neural connections in your brain — neural connections are like a bank of resources that your brain reaches for when it encounters a situation relevant to what you have stored. In more practical terms, reading books can relax your writing style by showing your brain what’s possible. If you’re ever feeling unmotivated, turn your reading into a system, i.e. decide which books you’re going to read this month, divide the pages up by the days in the month, and read your daily page quotas. Essentially, remove the element of choice. If you have to choose to do it, it burdens your willpower (proven).

Learn new vocabulary on the daily. When you’re reading books, you’ll inevitably run into words you don’t know. Look up their meaning at the time and jot them down. Those words will eventually accumulate; start from one end and take 5 words and learn those 5 words until the end of the day. Then, form sentences with those 5 words to memorise them better. Then the next 5 words the next day and keep going like that…you can even set the 5 words for the day as your lockscreen so that you keep seeing them throughout the day. It also really helps to write a word or two of association in brackets next to the word, for example: decanter (wine).

Take a few days’ break. Our brain has this proven ability where if you give it a task or a problem that you really care about, it will continue working on solving that problem in the background without you even consciously thinking about that problem anymore. If you’re stuck in a scene, think intensely about it once and then step back. Your brain now received the problem it needs to solve. A day or two later, your brain can give you the solution.

When you’re eating, instead of watching something, open your work in front of you and silently look through random parts of the draft. You can make small but important edits this way and regain interest in your own work.

Almost forgot — roleplay with yourself! Plant yourself in the situation and explore your own realistic reactions to the situation, or to what the other character said. This helps with moving a dialogue forward in a realistic way and also with exploring emotions that would arise in intense situations.

Write for yourself! Getting stuck in the thoughts of what would please your readers can feel depressing and uninspiring, and it can make you forget why you started writing in the first place. Focusing solely on what would please your readers can restrict you from exploring your true strengths and that unique literary style you may possess. Some people are strong at creating fantasy worlds, others are best at writing witty dialogues, yet others are more interested in exploring emotional twists and hardships of characters etc. Explore what’s yours! Make your work please you, make your work satisfy you, make your work your own favourite! You should be the biggest fan of your own work!

he doesn't take requests from his viewers he just kinda plays whatever he wants.

anyway at this point he's tasked with find fritz, which he doesn't really want to do.

he sees the dude on the ground but that's only after he sees someone standing next to him.

and then he sees someone standing next to him :0

"is the guy on the floor sleeping?"

"i believe so. i've tried everything, but he won't wake up."

he will pause to look at your outfit.

it's so complex but it's so cool!!!

his chat suspects something's up but... he'll just snap at them like he normally does.

but he'll silently admire you <3

also yOU'RE T I N Y ! !

and then paimon points out your clothes and the cameras pans up your body--

"heh... and by "this person over here," you mean me, right?"

he will choose the "those unique clothes are quite beautiful" option in a heartbeat.

he doesn't care that his chat is teasing him, he just wants you to know :))

he's kinda sad when you leave, though...

"please come back soon..."

his CHAT HAS NEVER SEEN HIM SO SOFT BEFORE

skip to a few events later when the constellation is revealed to be leonard's.

the sudden cutscene catches him off guard because he's prepared to fight someone.

"hi! sounds interesting... mind if i join you?"

he won't say anything but he will physically relax at the sight of you.

he's lowkey angry when his character is teleported away from you :(

Hi!! May I request a twisted wonderland matchup pls? She/her, virgo, I have wavy hair that reaches mid back(?) and is extremely frizzy and hard to tame :’) I’m quite tall (at least taller than the average woman) and I’m rather skinny (not in a good way. It’s almost unhealthy). I’m quite shy and tend to keep to myself when in public. I find it hard to socialize, even if it’s for some group project with classmates I don’t really know that well. Although with friends I might show a more chaotic side of me. Like when I’m with them I get excited easily over small things and actually enjoy myself for once. Im also touch deprived most of the time so i can be really clingy, but only to those I trust. I wouldn’t hesitate to comfort friends but (even though I’m a damned writer) I’m not too good with comforting through words and often struggle to express my feelings or explain things. Also im a bit of a perfectionist but a big procrastinator as well and let me tell you, that’s not a healthy combo (it usually results in me being angry with myself. All the time.) As I said before, I’m a writer! I love writing romance and Fantasy stories (and *cough* fluff headcanons for friends because I absolute live for fluff). I love to make up my own new world and let my imagination go wild, usually including things like magic, different creatures and other things that wouldn’t exist irl. Usually it’s just a “better” world or a world I’d love to live in. I figured it’s one of my biggest sources of comfort as I can take mind off any stressful matters and return to my own little worlds. I also really *really* like poetry a lot, though I’m not the best with writing poetry I love to read / hear it. I don’t know how to explain it but it never fails to amaze mez I don’t really have any other major hobbies but I do LOVE tiny and cute things like kittens!! And anything soft!!

Gweilge wasn’t fond of stealing.

Even after all these years, it still left him with a filthy, sticky feeling of shame which clung to his skin long after the act, like a layer of grime no amount of cleaning in a fresh, crystalline stream could wash away.

Yet if it was the price needed in exchange for non-humans living better lives, Gweilge thought, he was more than willing to pay up — no matter how rank the currency.

Crouching as he was in the shadows looming down the side of the imposing mansion that was his next target, he was thoroughly invisible but for the wisps of silver smoke blooming before his mouth in the cold night air.

Storeroom should be right down this way, he calculated, his gaze trained on the outline of a wooden doorframe jutting out from the semi-regular pattern of the stone wall. The moon was curled up under a thick cloudy blanket tonight, shrouding the entire courtyard behind the estate in darkness, but Gweilge had ample practise coaxing the secrets of the night into revealing themselves to him; after waiting long minutes with his back pressed against the wall, repressing the shivers tickling his spine, he began making out vague shapes amidst the gloom. As loath as he was to admit it (even and perhaps most to himself), his rather vast thieving experience had also taught him to closely inspect his surroundings before making any move — which meant he already knew the door he was looking for should be situated at six blocks’ distance and would likely be easy to open due to its outdated, brittle locking mechanism.

Look at this Trove! Treasures Untold!

As a multifaceted millennial, you should know that I know quite a lot when it comes to pop culture. After all, I play video games, watch cultured television shows and movies on massive streaming sites and read books. The three hobbies that essentially make me a repository for all things hip and chic. Think of any topic and I can match you with a quote or a meme. Lord of the Rings? Please. In your ear, I’ll whisper, ‘One does not simply,’ or ‘You shall not pass!’ How about Mass Effect, I hear you ask? ‘I’m Commander Shepherd and this is my favourite store on the Citadel!’

My one great foible, of course, is when nobody picks up on the references that I make. The cost of knowing so much is to see it not being recognised by those around me. It is a crying shame that I cannot discuss the Greek gods and goddesses or their many myths and legends.Nor can many appreciate a good old ‘taxation without representation’ chant.

Do these people live under rocks? How can they not have known about She-Ra and the Princesses of Power? Why does no-one else seem to ship FitzSimmons along with me? Am I the only person that has bothered to read excellent fantasy authors? Why aren’t others jumping at the opportunity to watch Hamilton with me at the Lyric Theatre?

It should come as no surprise that social media, such as Tumblr, are rife with references to television shows and video games and the odd anime or two. But when you spend so much time on the internet, you forget that there are other people in the world that simply aren’t as ‘fetch’ as you are.

Take for example, my work colleagues. Not one could appreciate that I quoted the great Sherlock Holmes by chastising them for their lack of attention to detail. ‘You see, but you do not observe,’ said I in a grand booming voice. They stared at me like I was insane. As if true genius could be sidelined because the poor fools around me knew not what I quoted.

Even among my family and friends, I have often felt to hide certain aspects of myself. Would they be able to appreciate the science behind Game Theory? What about OutsideXbox or PlayStation Access? Do they even know that there are a group of nerdy-ass voice actors that play Dungeons and Dragons every Thursday (but which I will only get to watch Tuesday morning)?

Honestly, dear reader, you know not the self-restraint I showed when I saw TWO people wearing Sora, Donald and Goofy t-shirts on a train platform on TWO separate occasions. I wanted to march on over, even though one was busy tip tap typing away at her laptop and DEMAND that we talk about the Kingdom Hearts franchise and so that I also drop some epic one-liners like, ‘My friends are my power,’ and ‘You’re not taking Kairi’s heart!’

Too often, I’ve played it safe by keeping subtle pieces of geeky memorabilia on my persons. A Kingdom Hearts lockscreen on my phone, Lucario Pokesketch for my train pass, Lightning Farron dangling from my house keys.

True, there have been a few great moments when I’ve spotted my fellows out in the wild. A man wearing a DOOM shirt who had also named his daughter after the infamous Tomb Raider, an appreciator of the intricacies in the Yennefer and Geralt romance and of course all the employees that work in EB Games and Zing. Let’s not forget the discovery that one of the new people in my workplace is an absolute Warcraft nut that smacked down my Medivh impression when I recited the first few lines of the Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos prologue.

One of these days, I need to scrounge up my courage and attempt to make small talk with other people that share my interests. I mean, aren’t we all socially awkward individuals that can barely string words together? No? Just me? Darn it all!

In any case, I’m all for more people displaying what they love. And, if you see a random Asian woman intensely staring at your t-shirt, be sure to come over and say ‘hi’ so that we can discuss books, games or even guilty pleasure television shows like You or Pretty Little Liars. To this day, I still don’t know what drove me to watch all seven seasons. I mean...I started because Nolan North and Holly Marie Combs (PIPER! FROM CHARMED) were in it. But I can’t say why I continued after the second season...

And gosh, I can’t believe I also managed to stomach all of Gossip Girl. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?

Of course! Shadow and Bone is a tv series based off a book series written by Leigh Bardugo known as the Grishaverse. It's set in a Russian-inspired fantasy realm where the country of Ravka is perpetually at war with it's neighboring countries. In this world, some people are born with powers, they are called Grisha. Since they are powerful and are often hunted by other countries, young Grisha are brought to a special training facility and raised to join the Second Army to help defend themselves and the kingdom. The Shadow Fold, the dangerous black and barren wasteland, divides the kingdom in two but with their enemies on north and south borders the only way to the other side is through it. And this is where are our story begins, with the First Army (people without powers) and Second Army getting ready to make a supply run across the Fold that will trigger a cascade of events leading to power shifts, new loves, and a chosen one who may be able to destroy the Fold.

Intrigued?! I hope so. The first season is fun and fast paced. There is so much going on you're sure to find many things to love. They've even brought characters who do not appear until later in the series and written them into earlier events on the show which works surprisingly well. So books fans can see their faves sooner. Sadly, there is a love triangle. On the other hand, this show has ships galore!!! It's like you get a ship! and you get a ship! and you get ship! There are no fewer than SIX SHIPS. And with the next season there will be several more. Which means you have alot of romances to choose from. I'm sure this show will have at least one you enjoy, if not multiples. I've reblogged every ship from the show but I haven't giffed any yet. I did however make a Kanej (Kaz x Inej) lockscreen. They are my favorite book ship (and not part of a love triangle). They have major respect for each other and there is so much mutual pining. Definitely a slow burn if you're into that. However, on the show I'm not sure I have a favorite yet. Also, I heart Milo the goat. He's precious.
