Most of a decade on Tumblr, and I've never known anyone on here who lost their life (well, one of my oldest mutuals, whom I've never really gotten to know, has been in serious danger for many months but that's a story I'm only semi-privy to). I didn't really know @kontextmaschine -- neither of us has ever followed the other that I can recall -- but I certainly knew of him: he was a low-level presence popping up on my dash for I don't know how long. His illness and death is sad and unsettling.

Hear me out now Y’all- I haven’t seen it done in the slightest and it’s prolly already like taken or something, but like hear me out. Enemies to lovers?!? Kenshi x Johnny type shit here??? Perchance???

Samurai: Honest, compassionate, polite, fantastic swordsman, selfless, respectful, rooted deeply in tradition(?), strong moral compass, would much rather not fight, possibly a bit uptight depending, good etiquette(?), really loyal, possibly good in different forms of martial arts if you wanna add more to it??, extra points if they’re recovering from being “evil” or from hurting a lot of people/have a dark and mysterious past

Cowboy: The over the top, gunslinging, firecracker personality, extremely creative and outside the box thinker, possibly good in fistfights(?), fantastic aim(guns n shit), possibly more “modern” ways of thinking(less traditional), very much rowdy and easygoing, good with animals and such, bonus points for Southern Drawl, also really loyal, brawler

Idk yall im running on like three hours of sleep and I’ve been thinking abt this lol. I have no idea if this already a thing but if not then it is now bitches hyeheheyeyehye.

Anyways- how I pictured ppl could use this dynamic is maybe in a sort of Johnshi(Johnny Cage x Kenshi Takahashi from Mortal Kombat) relationship dynamic- could be platonic or romantic up to writer ig. But yeah so I could see it as the wild, golden-hearted cowboy meeting the emotionally drained/tormented samurai somehow meet and they just fucking HAAATEE each other. Samurai thinks Cowboy is waaayyy too free-spirited and way too open with his speech(possibly insulting a person of importance in front of everyone? Maybe this even earns the royal’s respect and the Samurai is appalled and confused!) whereas the Cowboy thinks the Samurai is way too uptight and rooted in traditions.

Perhaps they even get into some wacky ass fucking shenanigans which forces them closer together until they have to face their feelings towards each other. Idk man this sounded better in my head lol

I haven’t had the pleasure of playing MK1 yet so if this is literally exactly what fucking happens in MK1 I’m gonna shit myself 😭😭😭

Hey, I would like you to know something important.

When I was in the Star Trek fandom, we had an elderly lady in or fandom. We all called her Star Trek Grandma affectionately. She was so kind and loving to all of us, and a lot of lgbtqia people came to her inbox, seeking love and support, and she gave it. She was a beautiful soul who we were all honored to know.

We saw photos of her from her nursing home smiling and laughing and she was beautiful with joy and love.

When she passed away, she had made sure to give her children access to her tumblr, so they could tell everyone what had happened. Her children thanked us for being such a positive and joyful part of her life, how it helped her to keep her smile even in the hard times of aging, and facing the end of life. They were amazed and grateful for the joy she had found in fandom, even in her fondness for slash, it didn't matter. All the friends of all ages she had made were beautiful to them. It was beautiful to them how many lives she had touched, and how many had touched her life. They were proud of their mother for being so supportive and loving to the lgbtqia community.

This was years ago and to this day she is greatly missed.

Please appreciate your elders in fandom. They are gifts.

You legitimately just made me cry. Thank you for this. 💕

Want quick tips to add instant chemistry to the relationships of your characters??

(🥳With examples🥳)

First of all, I want to say that you can also use most of them for platonic/ non-romantic relationships, so feel free to use this tips however you think they might work better in your story. So, without further adue, let's get to the tips!!!

Make your characters LISTEN to each other. Like, if A tells B they're not a morning person, B could make some coffee for A or lower the volume of their alarm.

This might sound quite obvious, but show that you characters care for each other. It might be as simple as one of them giving the other a glass of water when they feel a little dizzy, but it works wonders!

Make your characters physically close. When you are emotionally close to someone, you tend to be physically close too. But here is the thing. Make your characters react like it's second nature: "how would I not hug B when I haven't seen them in days?" or "Of course I'm gonna take A's hand when I feel insecure".

They don't have to be constantly thinking about each other, but when they do, MAKE IT MATTER!! For example, character A is out shopping, and they see B's favorite cookies. B didn't have a good day, and A knows that. But A also knows B is gonna fucking love the cookies, so they buy some.

Let them believe and trust each other. Also applies if one of them is a little distrustful: let your characters rely on one another, even if at the start they aren't as comfortable doing it. For a distrustful character, letting the other one help with chores might be a HUGE thing.
