one hundred days of productivity | day three |

20.06.20

started on ap statistics today! so far so good, but the instructor uses a ti-84 and my calculator is an ti-nspire, so i have to work a bit more to figure out where everything is. i put the practice problems on the post-it notes and fold them up so i don’t take up a lot of space for it. that way, my notes aren’t so cluttered, and i only have to look at definitions and graphs and stuff!

studyblr intro

a formal introduction that’s long overdue

i’ve technically been on studyblr for a little over a year now, but i never formally introduced myself on my old blog or on this one, so here we go!

about me:

my name’s alexander, but most people call me alex

i use he/him pronouns

i turn 15 in september (yes i am smol), which makes me a virgo (yes i fit into the stereotypes)

i’m an infj-t, and i don’t read harry potter but apparently i’m a gryffindor

i’m canadian, specifically montreal

i love reading, writing and occasionally composing music (i play the classical flute)

the only kpop group i listen to is stray kids :’)

academics:

i’m going into tenth grade in september

i don’t know how the choice classes will work this year but i chose music

outside of school i’m learning korean i’m also enrolled in like five coursera classes oops

not really sure what extra curriculars will be available this year :(

Hello everybody! I’ve been following the studyblr community for years now, and since I’m starting my senior year of high school in two weeks, I thought that it would be the perfect time to actually start a blog!

About me:

My name is Karen (she/her), I’m 18 years old and I live in Denmark 🇩🇰

My study programme in school is math, chemistry and physics (but I finished physics this year)

I’m INFP, sagittarius and a gryffindor

I love plants, but I’m running out of space in my room😔

I love reading and analyzing, both in school and in my spare time and along with that I love to write, and write stories in my spare time as well

I have no idea what I’m going to study when I finish high school, but I do know I want to study in Scotland, but the actual subject itself is tbd😊

I can speak Danish, English, a bit of German and I’m learning French, and I would love to also learn Italian

I studied abroad in Boston for two months last fall! And now I am in love with the city and can’t wait to go back again!!

STARTING A STUDYBLR

So since I’ve restarted / rebranded my blog, I feel like I’d be able to give some advice on starting a studyblr.

WHAT IS A STUDYBLR?

Studying + Tumblr. It’s a community of people documenting their academic journies as well as supporting and motivating each other and posting study tips! There are many reasons to have one, such as holding yourself accountable for studying, support from the community, motivating yourself, finding new and effective ways to learn, as well as admiring all the beautiful notes out there!

MAIN BLOG OR SIDE BLOG?

There are pros and cons to both. If you’re wanting to have a completely new account, follow people and interact via your studyblr etc, then opt for a main. If you’re happy to continue on one account, then create a side blog. However, when you use a secondary blog for your studyblr, it will follow as your main account. Personally, I made mine a main blog because I don’t have another Tumblr account, and preferred following people off my main account anyway. You can find more information on the differences here.

PICKING A URL, ICON, THEME ETC.

URL: Most people just put their user name as (their name)studies. However you can be more creative if you want! Incorporate your interests, your subject major, etc. I chose @thetinypsychologist because I study psychology and I’m short!

Icons: Some people choose random pictures for their icons, but some people make their own on Adobe Photoshop, Canva or other applications. You could also commission people to make an icon! Check out @annistudio icons here.

Theme: Choose a mobile theme and desktop theme. Choose a colour scheme to fit your account and a header image if you want one. If your studyblr has mostly photos, multicolumn/grid themes work best but if you have text posts as well, I’d recommend a single column theme for easy reading. Great theme-makers include @theme-hunter @sorrism @skythemes @shudesigns @pohroro @stardusthms

BLOGS TO FOLLOW

ACTUALLY POSTING:

Set up a navigation system: Decide whether you’re going to tag your posts and set up a filing system. You can look at my navigation page here for inspiration. You might also decide to make extra pages like faq, social media, study playlists etc.

Write an Introductory Post: Tell people who you are, what you’re studying, your interests etc. Tagging your favourite studyblrs / inspiration will get your blog out there!

What to post: Study tips, what you’re currently working on, planner / bujo inspo, masterposts, big blog posts, 100 days of productivity challenge etc.

Hashtags: Popular hashtags to add to your posts are #studyspo #studyblr #studyspiration #whatsonmydesk #whatsonmytable #studying #studymotivation #stationary. Some studyblrs track tags such as #heysareena #elkstudies etc.

GETTING FOLLOWERS

Most people gain followers after posting a really aesthetic post or a helpful masterpost. Equally, interacting with other studyblrs also helps get your blog out there. More content leads to more followers so if you know you’re going to be busy, use the queue option. Also excessively tag your posts (see above).

TIPS

Post regularly

Make friends and reblog posts

You don’t need a fancy camera for pictures! Just use your phone.

You also don’t need fancy stationery

Believe in yourself!

hello, all! i'm arlo, and i'm new to the studyblr community. i thought i'd make a little introduction post, so here we go!

i'm 15 (freshman in high school), and i'm in duel enrollment, so i'm taking college classes in addition to my high school ones.

i'll have an associates in arts by the time i graduate high school because of the duel enrollment program!

i live in the u.s.

i'm a ravenclaw!

i'd love to attend brown university or the university of michigan, or possibly study abroad in spain.

my current career plan is to become an english professor.

why did i make a studyblr?

now that i've started taking college classes, i need a lot more motivation for school.

i desperately need to improve my note taking skills.

i love learning new things, and a studyblr is a good way to organize what i learn!

the community seems very welcoming and i wanted to be a part of it.
