life update: at the start of September I was told I couldn’t study psychology anymore (after 2 part-time years!!) due to changes in my course structure. After crying literally all day, I enrolled in a Parisian university to study B2 level French, and studied hard for the entrance exam. I passed, and then my psych uni got back to me, saying they will make an exception, so I can continue to major in psych again. I’m not sure how I’ll balance 15 psych and 35+ french credits this year between 3 universities, but it seems like everything works out in the end.❤️

It had been quite a while since you and Jamie had started dating now, almost a whole year, and you had never been happier. He would take you with him when he travelled the world, he introduced you to his family and his friends and you spent his birthday with them- but there was one thing you haven’t done yet.
There had been many chances for the two of you to have sex, to make love for the first time, but each time the opportunity arose, you would back out of it. It wasn’t because you didn’t want to have sex with him, you just worried that he wouldn’t like it, he was used to being with people who had experience- the only experience you had was your hand.
You thought this opportunity was going to come along again tonight, and you would finally tell him about your worries and stress around it.
The night had started so innocently, Jamie had cooked you both dinner and then you decided to watch a couple movies. He lied down on the sofa, pulling you as close to him as possible as you watched the first movie. You both talked and laughed and even shed a couple tears throughout it, but throughout the entire hour and a half, you couldn’t tear your thoughts away from the way his hand felt on your waist, tracing patterns on your skin as your t-shirt rose up.
During the second movie, you got a little bored- most likely because you were distracted. You turned to Jamie with a smile on your face, and a look in your eye that told him everything he needed to know.
You slowly closed the space between the two of you, and your lips pressed against his in a slow, passionate kiss. You hear him let out a small groan as he grips your waist harder, and before you knew it you were on top of him, straddling his hips as you leaned down to kiss him.
His hands were placed on your hips, holding you in place so you wouldn’t grind down on him involuntarily. He didn’t know how far you wanted to take it.
“Jamie,” you whisper against his lips between kisses, “I want to… I want to do it.”
“Are you sure, darling?” He asked, pulling away so he could scan your face for any hesitation. “We don’t have to if you don’t want to. I told you, it’s okay. Don’t feel pressured to-”
“I’m sure. I’ve been thinking about it for a while,” you begin to explain, “I’m just a little bit worried that you won’t like it… with me. And that it might… hurt?”
“Oh, baby.” Jamie frowned, bringing his hand up to your cheek, “I love you, don’t worry about whether I like it or not. It’s your first time.” As his thumb brushed over your cheek, you could tell he was thinking about something. “How about we try something else first, sweetheart?”
“What would that be?” You asked, your hands still placed on his chest as you held yourself up.
“Do you trust me?” He asked, his tone becoming a little more serious now.
“Always.”
He gives you a small smile before he flips you both over, so that you were now lying beneath him. He kisses down your jaw to your neck, gently sucking and nibbling on the delicate skin, leaving marks to be seen tomorrow.
“Can I take this off, darling?” He asked, tugging on your t-shirt. You give him a nod, followed by a,
“Yes, please.”
He pulls the material over your head, dropping it to the floor beside the sofa. You felt a little bit nervous as you weren’t wearing a bra, but the two of you had taken showers together before, he’s already seen you naked- just not this close.
He continues his trail of kisses as he scatters them down your chest, over your boobs, where he kissed one of your nipples, looking at you with a playful glint in his eyes. Your stomach was swarmed with butterflies as he kissed lower and lower, eventually landing at the waistband of your shorts.
He gave you another look, one that said ‘can I?’, to which you nodded your head, you needed this.
You could feel heat rise in your lower belly as he gently pulled your shorts off your legs, pressing kisses to your thighs as he dropped them to the floor with your t-shirt.
He placed a hand over your clothed pussy, and looked up at you.
“If you want me to stop at any point, just tell me, okay?”
“Okay.” You said, releasing a breath you didn’t know you were holding.
He slid your panties down your legs, leaving you completely bare in front of him.
He placed his hands on your thighs, spreading them a little further as he took in the sight of your pulsing cunt. Using his thumb, he gently spread your folds, allowing him to see all of you.
You let out a small whimper as his thumb nudged your clit, before he dragged it down your slit, where he drew small circles over your hole, teasing you.
“Oh, baby, you’re such a messy little thing.” He said, a devilish smirk creeping onto his lips.
Before you could say anything or even take in what he had just said, you felt his lips come down to your cunt, placing a delicate kiss on your clit, his eyes not leaving yours for a moment.
You let out a gasp, your nails digging into the sofa as he wrapped his lips around your clit, teasing it with his tongue briefly before suckling on it, causing your brain to melt with pleasure. He only added to this pleasure as he slipped his middle finger into you, to which you let out a moan, followed by his name.
You felt him smirk against you as you squirmed around beneath him, knowing that he’s the first man to ever see you like this. As he stretched you out with one finger, he soon decided you were ready to take another.
“Oh my-” You had never felt so… wonderful before. You felt like you were going to burst, the pleasure was too much, and Jamie was too good at giving it.
“Oh, angel,” he teased, his fingers curling up to brush against that spongy spot inside of you, “you’re so good for me, do you like the way I fuck you with my fingers, hm?”
You nodded your head, unable to form words as your brain felt fuzzy. The warmth in your stomach spread, and you knew you weren’t going to last much longer.
“I can feel you squeezing my fingers, baby. Are you close? You gonna cum for me?”
His words were driving you even further to the edge, but as soon as you felt his mouth on you again, you couldn’t hold it any longer.
“Shit-” You whimpered, feeling your thighs tremble as the wave of pleasure washed over your body, causing all your muscles to relax.
“That’s it, just like that, darling. Shh… it’s okay. You did so good for me.” He tells you as you squirm and whimper under him. He slowly slips his fingers out of you, leaving them glossed with your arousal. Once again, he thinks for a second, before telling you to open your mouth.
You do as he says, and you were met with his fingers on your tongue. You guessed what he was doing, you had read about it in some of your erotic books before, so you sucked on them, watching the way he reacted to it sent those familiar butterflies to your tummy again.
“Fuck,” he groaned as you let of of his fingers with a ‘pop’.
You were so tired. You wished you could’ve asked him to go further, even if it was just repaying the favour and helping him out with the bulge in his trousers, but you were exhausted.
“How are you feeling, love?” He asked as he stood up, a slight teasing tone in his voice as you lied bare before him.
“Tired.” You say with a slight chuckle.
“Oh, baby. So fucked out and you only took my fingers. Do you want to get some rest and we can go further another day?”
You nodded your head, your eyes falling shut as your body felt so blissful.
“I need to get you cleaned up first, sweetheart. C’mon, let’s get you to the bathroom.”
Jamie quickly picked up your discarded clothes before helping you up and guiding you to the bathroom, where he helped clean up the mess between your thighs- he would clean up the sofa later. As you got changed into some clean clothes, he got you a glass of water, placing it by your side of the bed.
You lied down on the bed, but something didn’t feel right. Something was missing.
“Jamie…”
“Yes, darling?”
You didn’t say anything, you simply just patted his side of the bed, and he got the message.
He playfully rolled his eyes before lying beside you, pulling you to his chest as his fingers ran through your hair. You wrapped an arm around him before letting your eyes shut again, and you both drifted into a peaceful sleep.

Can i request a comfort fluffy fic with Scarlett Johansson x f!reader? reader being extremely stressed out about finding a new job , work, school and her toxic life at home(since reader still lives with her family even though reader desperately does want to move out of her parents house and not using Scarlett as the main reason to). Reader is just so tired and beat down that she just wishes to be a housewife.
Housewife
Being a college student nowadays sucked. Everybody put so much pressure on you and overloaded you with work online that you barely had time for a break.
In addition to that you’re family put even more pressure on you and didn’t even get along so you could concentrate. They were always screaming and throwing stuff around until you couldn’t contain yourself anymore.
So every time you had to learn you made your way over to your girlfriends, Scarlett, even when she wasn’t there. It wasn’t uncommon for her to enter the house and be surprised when she saw you at the table clearly frustrated.
She hated days like today, where she found you sitting at the table, your eyes red from crying and a frown evident from the frustration. “Hello my love. Are you alright?” She asked carefully as she made her way behind you. “Hi babe” you mumbled trying to understand your notes while Scarlett messaged your shoulders.
“What’s wrong? Cmon talk to me” you sighed and turned to her. She sat next to you and waited for your answer. “I can’t do all of this anymore, school, my family, all this pressure… it’s getting to much. I can’t even take care of our relationship anymore” you cried out burying your face into you hands. “Lovely, why didn’t you tell me sooner? We can find you a tutor and we can find a solution with your family”. It hurt the blind to see you like this, so hurt and overwhelmed.
“Scar, you don’t get it. I do not want to and I cannot anymore. It’s too much, I just wanna stay home and take care of the house and the people” you told her silent tears running down your face.
To be honest, Scarlett was in love with the idea of coming home to you every night and being able to spoil you while you could take care of her. But she didn’t want you to depend on her, you should be able to life on your own, just in case.
“My love, I’m sorry I didn’t realize all of this sooner but I think I’ve got an idea.” She told you and pulled you into her lap where you buried your head into the crook of her neck finally feeling home. “How about you move in with me and as soon as you have your degree you can be a house wife… my house wife” you couldn’t contain your excitement and pressed your lips to hers in a row of kisses.
“Are you sure it’s okay if I move in with you? I don’t have any money I could really give you” you suddenly were concerned but your girlfriend was quick to deal with them. “I don’t want any money! I only want more time with you and for you to be alright” she insisted. “God, I love you” you mumbled against her lips.
The next day you told your family that you were moving out. And the day after that your friends and your girl helped you move your things.
You got a tutor and finished your degree as soon as you could. And as soon as you were out of school? You loved being a housewife while sometimes freelancing. Scarlett treated you like a queen and you did the same to her.
You’ve never been happier and she hasn’t been either

V. Ache
Whichever roller coaster he got tied to, it took the cake at being the worst of the worst. Even Jay and Nya's joyride had him unlocking his true potential, while whatever this was got Cole out of order, clutching a bucket and moaning in pain. What a lucky man to have such great friends who made sure the inability to do anything helpful and productive was not the reason for him to lose his marbles!
“With the way you cook, I’m surprised it took you this long to invent a new species of a stomach bug.” Cole would have thrown at least a pillow at Jay for the comment, however, that would probably risk him another week of being stuck bedridden. Hopefully his silent, unamused stare was enough for a metaphorical slap.
“I was allowed in the kitchen like once this year!”
“Maybe you were doing it in secret, who knows? Black market cooking, Black ninja. In the blackness of the night.”
“You’re very cocky for someone who just got absolutely trashed in Fist-2-Face. Continue like this and I'll ask for a rematch.”
Pushing Cole’s threateningly pointed finger while also taking the console from him, Jay deliberately responded, “I let you win because that’s how good of a friend I am. Not like certain someone .”
“Since you’re such a good friend, how about you get out?”
Jay faked a sniffle, a hurt look. “I thought you loved me.”
“Love goes through the stomach. Both ways.”
Several emotions washed over Jay’s face before he scrunched up his nose and sprung up from the armchair they moved beside Cole’s bed. “Ugh, I don’t know which offends me more!”
“Good,” Cole deadpanned, “that’s what you get for trashing my cooking. You guys are just so small-minded you don’t understand the potential.”
“Yeah, potential to be a biological weapon maybe,” Jay retorted. Shots fired.
“In that case, I would watch my step. How embarrassing would it be for the Lightning ninja to have ‘Died to a pot of mashed potatoes’ in his obituary?”
“Wow, being sick does real wonders to you. Fine, since I’m so unwelcomed in this company, I’m gonna enjoy a warm shower for once in my life.” Before making his exaggerated leave, Jay turned back to gift Cole a proper scowl. Which turned into a fit of chuckles in a matter of seconds.
The problem was not that Cole didn’t have company, it was that the company he wished for the most was always unavailable. They could have had the nights just for themselves but of course Cole got sick. Sometimes it was truly hard to believe there was not a strange force that didn’t want them together.
Now his sleepless nights were uneventful, almost an excruciating waste of time had it not been for Nya supplying him with new books to read. Even then, when he had maybe too many pages left, he found himself spending more time just looking out of the window, wishing to be able to get back to training with the others.
The best he could do was go outside for a short walk, which got embarrassing because not even Wu at his old age sounded like that. At least when his yoga sessions with Zane were over, he could sleep all he wanted during the day and no one could say anything. Gotta look for the bright side of things
That day his not-so-secret wish finally came true. Hopefully, Kai did not notice his excitement once he saw him enter his room.
Ignoring the armchair, Kai flopped down on his bed without saying anything. His shoulders moved as he let out a deep breath before getting his face out of the blanket to look at Cole. He could practically smell the stress emitting from him. Eyelids heavy, dark circles underneath, yet the familiar spark in them remained as he offered Cole a smile.
“You might get sick, you know?” Despite his own words, Cole couldn’t be happier for the visit.
“Eh, who cares?” Kai waved it off with a light-hearted eye roll. “Besides, Jay's been here all the time and he's fine, so it's probably not contagious.” Eyes travelling around the room, Kai turned around to lie on his back.
“I feel like I haven't seen you in ages,” Cole commented off-handedly. His muscles ached even more than usual that day but he still made an effort to change his position to be closer to Kai.
“Yeah…” Kai sighed. “I feel like I’ve been doing the same two things nonstop… Well, I guess that’s over for now because Lloyd recruited Nya to make me take a break… I don’t get what I’m supposed to do at night now, I still can’t sleep.”
“You can join me and Nya and we could start a proper book club.”
“Ugh, I’m not reading the sci-fi crap.”
“I mean, we can read anything, but it wouldn’t hurt if you gave it a chance. It’s more than just robots and aliens, you know?” His attempt at convincing fell flat the moment he opened his mouth, Kai was too busy doing anything but opening his mind to the genre. The consoles on Cole’s bedside table caught his attention instead, as he exclaimed, “Hey, you got F2F2!” and snatched one of them right away.
“We don’t have to play that right now,” Cole replied, taking the device from him the same way Jay did earlier that day.
“ Ooh, are you still scared of getting your ass kicked, Brookstone? You should’ve gotten used to it by now.” This surely must have been what prey sees when cornered by its predator. Kai had no sympathy even for the sick when it came to Fist-2-Face, it was his second element besides fire. He could be dying and he would still make sure everyone knows he’s better than them. Not exactly something Cole had the willpower for at the moment.
“How were the night patrols anyway? I didn’t hear much, so I guess nothing big happened?”
“Yeah, there’s always something but it really lacks proper action, you know? I don’t want some big evil, of course, but I wouldn’t mind getting to, you know, put the good old powers to use…”
“You have a problem.”
“Hey, it's not my fault I don’t have something tame like earth where I can just walk outside barefoot! You can’t pin this on me.”
“Sure.” Cole nodded completely sincerely in agreement only to receive a frown from Kai in response.
“How are you, patient zero? Last time I heard, you got the masterminds sounding like whistling kettles.”
Cole’s gaze dropped to his blanket, which he idly smoothed out. There weren’t many things he hated more than being sick. He was supposed to be one of the strongest humans alive, if not the strongest, and yet a microorganism still had the ability to take him down. “Not great. Well, at least I'm not puking all the time now… But I feel like I've been run over by the bounty several times.”
Arms crossed behind his head, Kai sucked in air through his teeth. “Sounds fun.”
“It’s a murder, I’m like an old car that just sits in a garage.”
“All right, you know what?” Kai lay on his side, looking into Cole’s eyes. “Tell me any food your stomach desires and I’ll make it for dinner tonight. A menu made specially for you.”
“Wouldn’t that be pointless?”
“You did just say you’re not so nauseous. And it’s the thought that counts anyway, so shoot. Anything your mighty taste buds crave, I’ll make it.”
Cole staggered some more, although he could see Kai was, as per usual, dead set on it. Before he was even done contemplating Kai’s request, the thoughts he kept suppressing took it as their cue to come to light.
“Remember when we were at Grill of Glory but had to leave just as we got our orders?”
Catching up faster than anticipated, Kai raised his eyebrows. “You want a blue rare steak?”
Despite not being able to see himself, Cole was certain he looked like a deer caught in headlights at the moment. Unfortunately, his thoughts were already spoken out loud, so he had no way out of this one. It’s not like eating raw meat or almost raw meat was anything weird, there are many dishes around the world… But something about the thoughts felt like forbidden fruit. “It was the first thing that came to mind I guess.”
“Some people would be way more cautious than you but I liked that, you jumped in head first. Sure, I’ll do it. Your wish is my command, baby.”
Cole shook his head, avoiding Kai’s gaze as if he would risk him seeing right into his mind. Intrusive thoughts were a normal thing. Daydreaming about sinking his teeth into flesh of any kind counted as one, right? It shouldn’t be as exciting as it was. “You don’t have to do anything for me.” He wanted to smell the blood.
“No, I want to. I haven’t spent any time with you since you got sick, I've just been sleeping and riding through the city, let me at least do this.”
“I understand you’ve been busy, you know?” Kai just shrugged, his own beliefs rooted in. “I appreciate it.”
“Hey, that’s what friends are for, right? But I’m thinking, maybe I’ll actually take a break and we could hang out at night? I found some movies that could be fun. Or you could tell me about what my sister makes you read.”
He couldn’t not smile at Kai’s offers. Always bending over backwards, while Cole was unable to do so even physically at the moment.
Since it was the first time in a few days they were able to have a proper talk, Cole decided to switch the subject, although he feared disrupting their light atmosphere. “How’s the heartbeat thing? Your insomnia is still going, so I wondered…”
“Oh yeah, it’s fine, I was just overthinking it like usual.” Kai put on a smile that didn’t meet his eyes. It was enough of an answer for Cole.
“All right…” They might as well be standing on a fragile cliff. One of them had to step back and it was not going to be Kai this time. “It’s okay to get freaked out by small things. I mean who didn't search their symptoms online, right? You can talk to me if it bothers you… again.”
“I said it's fine.” He misjudged, now they plummeted down on the rocks rising from the sea. “It’s just me being me, you shouldn't fuss over this, you should rest to get better. You know, I should probably go get the stuff ready before the markets get too crowded, see ya.”
“Kai–” But he vanished behind the door within the blink of an eye. Sometimes he really was like a firefly, so quick to disappear into the night once you make a wrong, quick move.
Not that Cole was any better, in fact, he was even worse. Kai was at least somewhat present at all times. However, it was still exhausting, trying to keep their fragile dance going.
__________________________________________
The rest of his day continued in a similar fashion as the days previous. After lunch, Zane took Cole out for a walk and another yoga session to stretch his screaming muscles. Then he spent his afternoon outside, dozing off in the grass behind the monastery's walls.
Kai was on his mind, as he tended to be. If only they were not so heavy, Cole got himself overly excited at the flicker of opportunity. Having a distracting company would have been a nice change for the nights spent staring into the blinding light from the moon, wondering whether simple pain could lead to his death.
As if he did not have enough already, his teeth joined in on the cacophony, giving him a nice headache as the cherry on top of the torturous cake. Was he growing into a giant? Not even his growth spurts were this painful, not even his wisdom teeth gave him such hard time.
Maybe it was time to give up and accept the painkillers he had been offered many times. Maybe he would ask after dinner.
It was still warm and lively outside, although some of the trees were slowly but surely beginning to turn other colours than green. Summer was letting its last tones ring before autumn takes over.
For now, Cole let the golden rays massage his sore muscles as he listened to the life around. The sounds of his friends training but losing themselves to tomfoolery, the birds calling out for each other and marking their territory, all the bushes and trees whispering in the wind… If he concentrated enough, he could hear the water rumble underground, even the worms making their way through the dirt. Everything had its own life path to follow but they all completed each other nevertheless.
It was so easy to get lost to nature.
A shadow hovered over him and Cole opened his eyes to see Jay’s upside-down grinning face.
“Hey there, sleeping beauty. Kai’s done with the dinner, come on.” Cole did not have much to say in response, he just let Jay help him get up and walk to the dining room, where everyone else was already getting seated, filling the room with relaxed chatter. Only one person disrupted the peaceful atmosphere, even though nobody else seemed to point it out. Kai’s smile was miniscule as he served the food. Maybe the other took it as him being tired.
“Would you look at that, just a couple of days not shaving and Cole could already be going for a beard! Take notes, Lloyd,” Nya teased over her drink, eyes fixed on Lloyd to monitor his reaction.
“Jay’s not doing any better either though.”
“Umm, do we not remember what’s there waiting for me in the future? Do I have to remind everybody of my fabulous future moustache and beard?”
“Key word future .”
Despite all the laughter and poking, Cole could not let himself loose like the rest. Kai next to him was a radiator of anxiety. With his shoulders tense and knuckles almost bone-white, he cut his piece of meat as if it were still alive despite all the cooking. Whenever Cole looked at him, Kai bowed his head even more so the hair would shield him.
That was not something to bring attention to in a crowded room. So, what he could do instead was pay attention to the steak glimmering on the plate in front of him. The smell itself was intoxicating but when he took his first bite, it was certified heaven on earth. He did not even realise how much he was starving until now. Sure, Zane made good food but the vegetable soups were just not enough. This , though, this was what was missing.
The meat falling apart between his teeth refilled him with energy and vigour and the food was disappearing in him at light speed. The biting and chewing even helped ease the pain from his teeth. Somehow, there was still something more to crave, but at the time being, he was satisfied enough. It helped with soothing the worst of his hunger, like a cold shower after a hard workout in the middle of summer.
“I guess I did well then,” Kai commented upon seeing Cole’s empty plate, his voice unusually quiet in the surrounding ruckus.
“You’re my number one chef.” Bumping their shoulders, Cole earned an actual sincere smile this time.
Kai stayed behind to clean up, refusing any offers of help until everyone decided to leave him to do his thing and go about the rest of their day. Cole decided to go outside again before he would have to return to his bed. A thing that got less and less exciting with each day spent lying there. He missed the outside so much, it was almost as if it was calling for him. Reaching out with its arms.
The sun lazily descended below the horizon, kissing everything in sight good night before the night takes over. Cole’s steps aimed for the gate, the golden rays pushing him forward like a mother duck. Everything ached and itched for a walk, he needed to stretch his muscles before bed. It sounded like a good idea.
“Hey, Cole!” a voice came from behind him. Jay was almost hanging out of the window. Why was he always on his case?
“Yeah?” Their voices were too loud and the slight echo was not much of a help.
“Wanna join our Uno tournament? Lloyd is bragging about some new rules he found.”
“No, thanks.” Cole shook his head, hoping to be free as soon as possible. But Jay didn’t seem to catch that from the distance.
“You’re going somewhere? Should I go with you?” Right, the concern he appreciated. Tripwires in his way.
“No, it’s– I just wanted to take a little walk before bed,” Cole replied, since there was not anything weird about such desire. “I feel kinda stuffed, so I thought I’d walk it off.”
“O-okay.” Jay stopped leaning out of the window. “Be careful, bud.”
“I always am.”
Once Jay was out of sight, Cole finally pushed through the gate, following where his legs decided to take him. With his current condition, it was going to be a murder to get back up the stairs but he did nothing to stop. Everything was calm and welcoming and Cole walked lower and lower down the mountain, enjoying the surrounding nature, until something – perhaps he tripped? – brought him to his knees, sending surges of pain all over his body. They made it impossible for him to get up, rapidly raising their intensity until he felt nothing else but his nerves being on fire.
Every part of his body, even the smallest ones, shrieked as he continued to lay on the cold stone. The hum inside his ears rose into a roar, drowning out the peaceful symphony of the nearby forest. His eyes were darting around but Cole did not process any of it. He could barely recall where he was and why, he could barely recall whether he was actually awake or whether he even was himself.
One thing he could still feel clearly was the pain. His bones cracking and snapping into pieces and then growing back together. His flesh being torn apart without mercy before getting sown back together. Every single hair growing out of his skin, along with all of his nails.
It made his skin crawl. Maybe he was puking again. Maybe he was screaming. He would definitely do that if he could. His body trembled like the earth during an earthquake. He felt each and every single one of his teeth grow out, stabbing his lips and gums like needles.
Before he was finally freed of the shackles of the impeccable pain, he heard a prolonged howl cut through the hammering beat inside his ears.

Here With Me Part 9 || Taylor Makar
Tumblr media
Author’s Note: A hectic end to the year makes things a bit messy and stressful but Taylor doesn't let it deter him. And ultimately he gets exactly what he wants...the girl. FC: Marina Laswick (@marooshk on instagram).
Warnings: anxiety, alcohol consumption, cursing, fluff // Word Count: 4,421

Taylor could not possibly be happier to get back to the state of Massachusetts. After flying back after Christmas the team had traveled to Wisconsin amidst canceled flights and it had been a mixed trip to say the least. The highlight beyond getting Henry the win was his facetime with Kelsey after their second game. She had looked so soft in what appeared to be candlelight, pjs and her face barren of makeup. Honestly he’d been a little entranced.
They’d talked for a little over an hour until she looked like she was going to pass out on him and it had been the most relaxed he’d been since Christmas day. Even when the conversation lulled it was never awkward and she didn’t force him to talk about hockey, a welcomed relief especially after the prior day’s game and having been benched for a period.
By the end of their call, Taylor wasn’t ashamed to admit that he was half hard just from being so relaxed and if he had been any more tired he might have just asked Kelsey to be his then and there.
He was glad he hadn’t because that was something better done in person, but more than ever he wanted to take that step.
Texting Mercs that he could come back since he’d stepped out when he’d come back to Taylor on the phone, Taylor placed his phone to charge and shifted in bed, ready to sleep.
If Taylor had thought the trip to Wisconsin sucked, the trip home was even worse. Not because of the travel itself but because he had discovered that once again he had fucked up majorly when it came to Kelsey.
On the bus ride to the airport Taylor was finally scrolling through his instagram for the first time since leaving campus and after talking to Kelsey he couldn’t help but peek at her tagged posts. He was expecting the same ones he’d seen previously, however there were a smattering of a half dozen new posts. As he clicked on the first, confusion as to why there were so many turned to panic as captions reading ‘someone’s feeling 22’, ‘a million birthday wishes to the girl who lights up every room she walks into’, ‘who needs fireworks when your bff is a rocket on her birthday’, and ‘Happy Birthday Kels.’
“Oh fuck. Shit. Damn it.” Spilled from his lips as he rubbed at his face before banging his head into the seat in front of him.
He had apparently fucking missed her birthday as all of the posts were tagged the 27th and 28th.
Wracking his brain Taylor couldn’t for the life of him remember her ever mentioning that her birthday was coming up. He was certain he would have filed that away as important.
Banging his head again while continuing to mumble curses, Taylor drew the attention of Mikey whose seat he was concussing himself on, causing him to turn around.
“Dude. What the fuck.” Mikey declared, giving Taylor a clear look of cut that the fuck out. “What the hell is wrong with you?”
Mikey’s exclamations weren’t all that loud on a crowded bus but they drew the attention of the other roommates who turned to look at them.
“Is there a problem?” Lauts asked, an eyebrow raised at Taylor.
“I missed her birthday.” Taylor mumbled, sighing loudly and throwing his head back against his seat.
With his roommates wincing, Taylor knew that yeah that was as big of a fuck up as he believed it to be.
“Well at least you’ve got the whole flight home to figure out how you’re going to fix it.” Mercs declared, patting Taylor’s knee as he gave him a sympathetic look.
Yeah he needed to figure out how to fix it. How could he have completely missed her birthday. Like isn’t that one of the first things you’re supposed to learn about someone, especially someone you like.
Sighing again, Taylor closed his eyes trying to figure out how he could possibly make it up to Kelsey.
Ultimately he settled on flowers and cupcakes and a small present knowing that Kelsey would probably be annoyed if he took it too far.
****
Though they’d debated on going out for New Years, with fatigue from travel still lingering, Taylor and his roommates decided to just pick up some things from the store and stay in, staying up late playing video games and listening to music.
As the dedicated DJ, Taylor kept checking his phone between games and he couldn’t help but peek at instagram. Around nine o’clock it became very clear that Kelsey was going out tonight and she looked incredibly sexy dressed in jeans and a black top with sheer sleeves. Her deep red lip made her lips look so kissable and Taylor couldn’t help but miss her once more.
Half an hour later she was out on the street with a few girls around her and her geotag showed that she was in Boston. He couldn’t help but pout because as desperate as it would have been to ask to see her tomorrow he had been considering it, but she wasn’t even in the western half of the state so that was apparently out of the question.
As much as he was missing Kelsey, Taylor was in an overall decent mood even if he was getting killed at COD a little more than he’d like. And then he opened the newest story she’d shared where she was clearly more than a little inebriated and he swore for a moment that he recognized a few of the guys in the background as guys from BC’s hockey team. Immediately jealousy settled into the pit of his stomach and it wasn’t long before the boys were kicking him to bed because he was getting grumpy and clearly needed sleep.
His suspicions were confirmed when Colby Ambrosio, one of the guys on BC’s roster who was also an avs prospect posted a photo with his girlfriend from the same apartment with a peek of sheer black sleeve peeking off the edge of the frame. Pouting, Taylor continued to scroll through instagram before finally tossing his phone aside to toss and turn in bed.
It took awhile but he finally fell into a bit of a restless sleep and when he woke up and blearily picked his phone up to check the time, he saw a notification that Kelsey had texted him a photo shortly after midnight.
Blinking as his thumb tapped to open in, he nearly fell out of bed seeing her looking drunk but happy, blowing a kiss at the camera. Under it, she’d somehow managed to type out a coherent ‘Happy New Year Tay!’
That familiar pang of desire rolled through him but he couldn’t help but wonder if he was the only one that got a message like that last night. It didn’t seem like something Kels would do but there was still that uncertainty as to whether they were even really anything or not.
Getting up to use the bathroom, Taylor decided to go for a run just needing to clear his head.
****
Taylor had been staring at the unsent message on his phone for at least five minutes after typing it and retyping it at least a dozen times.
He was going to ask Kelsey out…he was just struggling with the phrasing of how to do it. How to best get across that he wasn’t just asking to hang out or to have sex but that he wanted to go on a date with her…wanted more than what they’d been doing.
Taylor: So uh…I was wondering, would you want to go on a date with me Wednesday afternoon?
After finally sending the message, Taylor took a deep breath. All he could do now was wait.
And it was agonizing.
When his phone finally vibrated, his heart leapt into his throat and he anxiously read her reply.
Kelsey: Yes. What time and what should I wear?
Taylor: Awesome. Let’s say 1. Dress warmly and bring your skates.
****
To say that Kelsey had squealed when Taylor had texted her asking her on a date would have been an understatement. They were finally going on an actual date with all of the connotations and expectations that came with the word. Kelsey had been starting to wonder if Taylor wasn’t actually interested in something like that. She knew that he’d been busy and exhausted with travel and they’d continued talking, but it had been basically two weeks since they’d last seen each other and she was desperate for some clear direction on whether this was headed to become anything or not.
Even though Wednesday was still a day and a half away, Kelsey was already digging through her closet trying to plan a warm but date appropriate outfit. She wanted this date to be perfect because she wanted more than this back and forth with Taylor.
She couldn’t help but muse over what he possibly had planned, after all he had told her to bring her skates so that meant that they were skating…unless he was trying to throw her off something else.
****
When she arrived at Taylor’s apartment shortly before 1, Kelsey parked and climbed out of her car, making her way to the increasingly familiar doorway. Within a moment of her knocking the door swung open but all she could see was a retreating figure followed by a holler of “TMak your date is here.”
When Taylor appeared at the door a moment later his cheeks were red and he had in his hand a bouquet of pink flowers.
“Hey Kels.” He murmured, his tone almost shy. “These are for you.” Looking closer, Kelsey spotted a dozen pink roses in the arrangement amidst some other small pink flowers and greenery.
“Very pretty Tay.” Kelsey murmured, taking the pink plastic from him. “You didn’t have to get me flowers though.”
Taylor looked a bit sheepish as he bent over to grab shoes, pulling them onto his feet.
“I wanted to. Plus I missed your birthday.”
Kelsey couldn’t help but shake her head a bit. She should have known that Taylor would have been bothered seeing her birthday posts even if she hadn’t told him about it being her birthday right after Christmas. Once he stood back up, Kelsey shifted into his space and leaned up to kiss him softly.
“Thank you. They’re beautiful.”
The way his hand dropped instinctively to her waist made Kelsey grin and she pulled back after a moment urging him along.
“C’mon T. Coat and skates. I want to know what it is you have planned.”
Nodding, Taylor grabbed the rest of his things before guiding Kelsey out of the apartment and down to her car.
Disposing of his bag and the flowers onto her backseat, the two climbed inside and Taylor immediately pulled up gps on his phone to give her driving directions without telling her exactly where they were going.
It didn’t take long for Kelsey to have a guess based on the route and when she pulled up to the pond she couldn’t help but smile. Outdoor skating. He’d remembered her jealous complaint about him getting to do it in Calgary and so he found somewhere for them to do the same here. It was perfect. Thankfully it had been basically single digit temperatures since just before Christmas so the pond was sufficiently frozen for skating.
And given that it was mid day on a Wednesday with all the kids back in school, the place was basically deserted, just for them.
“This is incredible.” Kelsey murmured softly before shutting the car off and moving to grab her skates from the backseat. Since they were parked relatively close to the ice, she sat down to swap her boots from skates and peeked over her shoulder to Taylor doing the same.
Skates on and firmly tied, Kelsey made sure her blade protectors were secure before standing, using the car for balance as she adjusted to the fine pressure point she was standing on. Then she zipped her jacket a little higher, pulled on a beanie from her coat pocket and grabbed a scarf, pulling it high on her face. Tucking her car key into her jacket pocket, she pulled on gloves and then locked the car, looking up to see Taylor leaning there waiting on her.
“Ready?” He asked softly. Nodding, Kelsey took his gloved hand in hers and walked slowly with him down to the edge of the ice. There, she leaned against him to pop off her skate guards, letting him take them to put in his pocket before stepping onto the ice.
She’d only been outdoor skating maybe once in her life and it had been some dinky rink put up in a parking lot. This was…this was magical and she let Taylor proceed further onto the surface testing for solidness even though there were signs announcing painted marks signaling where it had been deemed safe earlier in the morning.
Confident it was safe, Kelsey skated in a few wide circles just enjoying the feeling of freeness that washed over her. This was truly what she loved most about skating.
Watching her, Taylor knew that this had been the right date choice because she looked so happy even with a good portion of her face hidden from the cold. Letting her skate on her own for a bit, Taylor tested the ice within the painted boundaries just to be safe before returning to her side offering his hand to skate with her.
And that’s what they did for about a half hour before they both knew they needed to go warm up for a bit.
Retreating to the car, Kelsey cranked the heat and sunk into the driver’s seat waiting for the welcome relief of warmth. When Taylor reached into the backseat she looked at him curiously and then smiled seeing him pull a thermos and two plastic mugs from his bag.
At his request she held the cups as he poured the hot liquid into them and sighed breathing in the warm chocolatey scent revealing its contents.
“My mom’s recipe.” Taylor murmured as he put the lid on the thermos and took one of the mugs from her. When Kelsey took a sip, it was evident that this was more than powdered mix and water. It was rich and creamy, perfectly sweet with just a hint of vanilla.
She couldn’t believe that she was this lucky.
He’d bought her flowers. He’d brought her to do something so perfectly them. He’d made homemade hot chocolate from his mom’s recipe. He was just too good and oh boy was she in deep.
“I’m gonna need this recipe Tay.” She murmured after taking a few more sips of the rich warm drink letting the warmth fill her from head to toe.
“I think I can probably manage that.” He agreed, the look in his eyes soft as she met his gaze.
They continued to enjoy the comfortable silence until both beverages were gone and all traces of cold had left their bodies.
“Want to get back out there?” Taylor asked, causing Kelsey to nod excitedly. This was just too good and she wanted it to last as long as possible.
And so they skated. Her black leather gloved hand in his brown leather laden one. Occasionally, Taylor would take both her hands in his and skate backward faster than she was capable of, just allowing her to glide as the wind whipped around her. It was freeing in the most magical way and they stayed on the ice until her bones were aching from the cold and her hands were numb.
This time when they headed back to the car, Taylor took the keys from her and started it, murmuring for her to sit on the backseat. Once heat was pumping from the vents he came and squatted in front of her, quickly and efficiently untying her skates and pulling them off of her feet one by one, replacing them with her boots which he’d evidently slipped foot warmers into at some point because despite being in a mostly cold car were warm and toasty.
Pulling her from the backseat he held her for a moment, nudging her scarf down to press his cold lips onto hers for the briefest kiss.
“Go get warm.” He murmured, urging her back into the driver's seat while he took his own skates off before joining her.
“That was amazing. Thank you.” Kelsey whispered, looking over at him while she waited for her body to defrost enough to safely drive.
“Thank you for agreeing to come.” Taylor replied, his cheeks red from the cold and expression still slightly nervous. “Now I don’t know about you but I’m starving. We should go get dinner.”
“Yeah I could eat.” Kelsey agreed even if it was going to be an early dinner, they had definitely earned it skating for so long in such cold temperatures.
With Taylor suggesting Italian to which Kelsey eagerly agreed, she drove them through the Amherst streets to Pasta e Basta, parking in a nearby lot.
As the restaurant had just recently opened for the day it didn’t take long to be seated and Kelsey slipped off her jacket revealing her striped sweater. Taylor did the same and Kelsey took a moment to appreciate the pullover he had on under his jacket having been too mentally preoccupied to notice it earlier.
Ordering just some water to start since they both needed to rehydrate, they looked over the menu, limbs bumping gently under the table before settling in a way that was comfortable for both but provided some contact.
“What are you thinking?” Taylor questioned after a few minutes, having already put his menu down.
Unsure of what she wanted, Kelsey shrugged.
“You know you can order whatever you want.” Taylor murmured, bumping her leg slightly. ‘You know I’m not going to judge you even if your food preferences are sometimes subject.”
Shooting him a playful glare, Kelsey continued to pour over the menu.
“If you don’t make up your mind soon, I’m liable to just order for you.” He teased.
“You know what…go for it.” Kelsey declared. “I trust you.”
A little surprised because he had not been expecting that response, Taylor pursed his lips and looked over the menu with Kelsey’s tastes in mind.
By the time the waitress appeared asking if they had decided, Taylor nodded.
“I’ll have the chicken picatta and she’ll have the Sirloin Alfredo.”
With the waitress writing that down and checking the desired wellness level of Kelsey’s steak, Taylor looked at her with a ‘well how did I do’ expression on his face.
Alone again, Kelsey could only smile.
“You can consider that a passing mark.” She murmured, sipping at her water again.
“I’m learning what you like slowly but surely.” He grinned back, looking satisfied. Kelsey could only hope that statement included that he was learning just how much she liked him.
They chatted a bit while they waited for their food, catching each other up on their christmases and new years even if they had already talked about it over the phone. Then they ate, just taking in the time together and enjoying each other’s company.
When the waitress brought the bill over, Taylor immediately reached for it, causing Kelsey to pout a bit.
“Don’t even.” He murmured. “I asked you on a date. Therefore I am paying for said date. It’s bad enough you’re paying the gas money.”
Sighing softly, Kelsey relented, murmuring that she’d just have to get the next one then. Feeling a little pleased that she was thinking about another date, Taylor happily paid the check before asking if she was ready to head out.
As they walked back to the car, he slipped his hand in hers, pulling her a step closer to him.
“Want to come back to the apartment for a bit?” He questioned, needing her to say yes because he was still trying to figure out how to ask her to be his.
Kelsey really wasn’t ready to go home anyway so she nodded her agreement.
There were even fewer cars at Taylor’s apartment when they returned and he murmured that his roommates were grabbing dinner out before going to see a movie tonight so they had the place to themselves.
After gathering his things from her car, he guided her inside and she followed him into the kitchen so he could rinse the thermos out. There she saw a box of assorted cupcakes on the counter next to a small gift that was too femininely decorated to be for any of the guys.
“Taylor….” She trailed off, causing him to turn and look at her. Setting the dishes in the sink, he turned to her, stepping close to lift her up onto the counter.
“It may be late but we’re celebrating your birthday Kels. Now sit still for a second.”
Following his direction, Kelsey sat still while Taylor cleaned the thermos and mugs and when he turned back he grabbed the box of cupcakes telling her to pick one. Choosing a red velvet with cream cheese frosting, Taylor nodded and took it from her, turning away. When he turned back it was lit with a single candle and Taylor held it in front of her.
“Happy Birthday Kels.” He murmured, motioning for her to blow it out.
Tossing the extinguished candle, he handed her the cupcake and reached for the small gift bag, setting it beside her.
“It’s nothing crazy…” He assured her nodding for her to look through it. Inside, Kelsey found a small bottle of lavender scented lotion with a piece of paper attached promising a massage when she so desired. She also found a small bottle of warming sexual lubricant which made her giggle softly imagining Taylor out with his roommates buying it.
“Thanks Taylor.” Kelsey murmured, leaning forward to kiss him softly. “You didn’t have to get me anything though.”
“Yeah I did.” He disagreed, kissing her forehead before murmuring for her to come to his room. Letting him lift her off the counter, Kelsey complied and grabbed her gift bag, munching on the cupcake as they retreated to his room.
There she shed her coat and the bag, licking her fingers as she finished off the cupcake. She didn’t know where he’d gotten them but boy was it good.
Seeing Taylor sitting on the edge of his bed, Kelsey moved over to him, sliding to straddle his lap. Gently she pushed the hat off of his head, carding her fingers through his wavy hair until it was tamer and laying properly.
“Today was really really nice Tay. I missed you.” Feeling him hug her, Kelsey gathered that he missed her too and just leaned her head against his shoulder feeling him rub her back.
After everything leading up to this point and including today, it felt to Kelsey that they’d been dating for who knows how long, just without a label. And now she really needed that label. She needed to know where they stood, if he actually wanted to be hers.
Deciding that if he wasn’t going to ask she was going to, Kelsey moved to sit up fully. But before she could even open her mouth, Taylor’s voice reached her ears.
“Hey Kels…” He started swallowing hard. “I really really like spending time with you. I like talking to you. And it’s crazy how much I miss you whether you’re just across town or a country away.” He bit his lip as he took a moment’s pause. “Would you uh…want to be my girlfriend?”
It had felt like that question was never going to happen and Kelsey felt herself breathe deeply again.
“If you mean you want me to be yours exclusively, then yes.” Kelsey murmured.
The weight seemed to drop off of Taylor’s shoulders and he brushed his thumb across her jaw.
“Considering I haven’t even looked at another girl since I met you, yeah that’s what I want.”
Taylor was so completely opposite to every athlete she’d ever met and it was the most refreshing thing in the world.
“So I can call you my boyfriend now?” Kelsey asked. “Officially?”
Taylor’s only response was a kiss. The softest, most feeling filled kiss Kelsey had ever experienced.
With neither wanting to let go as they processed this new step, they continued kissing, pouring out so many emotions that had been held back by fear and uncertainty.
Eventually though, Kelsey pulled away murmuring that she really needed to use the bathroom before they resumed this. Though Taylor was reluctant to let her go, she was finally able to persuade him and slipped away.
Holy shit. He’d finally not only asked her out but asked her to be his.
It felt like a dream but if it was one she never wanted to wake up.
Returning to Taylor’s room, she found him lying on his bed and she moved over to squeeze in beside him. Immediately, his fingers found her hair and she rested a hand on his chest.
He was hers. No more guessing whether he felt the same way, no more holding back all the things that you couldn’t say to just a hookup, no more wondering if tonight he’d found another girl to warm his bed.
Basking in each other’s presence, Taylor lifted her hand to kiss her fingers before sighing contentedly. When she looked up at him the adoration in his eyes was so pure that it made her breathless. Kissing him again, Kelsey just enjoyed the fact that she could officially do this whenever she wanted.
It wasn’t long before she was dozing slightly as the skating and the cold and this new change caught up to her
Feeling her settle, Taylor kissed her head and slipped his phone out of his pocket. Snapping a selfie to just remember this moment, Taylor switched the phone to the arm that was wrapped around Kelsey, dropping his other hand to rest on top of hers, rubbing his thumb against her knuckles. After a moment her palm flattened against his chest and when she didn’t show signs of stirring, Taylor laced his fingers with hers.
It was of this that he snapped a photo, hands entwined on his chest shooting it off in a text to Mark, and his mom and dad.
Finally he’d gotten the girl.

The Roasting Of Steve Rogers (Shieldshock)
Steve should have known he was in for it the moment he witnessed Sam and Bucky whispering to each other with conspiratorial smirks as they leisurely enjoyed their reception fare.
In his defense, though, he was completely and utterly distracted by his very charming bride, who was telling goofy stories about her childhood hijinks and coaxing the same from Steve, who admittedly had quite a few of his own.
He thought Darcy positively sparkled as a bride and he told her so multiple times, in between numerous stolen kisses. They were the epitome of the sappy newlyweds people joked about.
“Ready to get roasted, honey?” she whispered, as Bucky was handed the mic and got to his feet, aiming a mischievous grin at Steve.
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” Steve sighed. He was sure Bucky had plenty of good material on him.
“First off, I want to say how thrilled I am for the happy couple: Darcy and Steve, you two are perfect for each other and I wish you nothing but the best.”
“Starting off with the nice stuff,” Steve muttered, smiling at his friend.
“Now, I’m gonna tell you how I knew they were perfect for each other,” Bucky continued. “I spent most of our teenage years pulling Steve out of fights and patching him up and begging him not to do it again. He never listened.”
There was light laughter at this and nods of agreement from Steve’s teammates.
“But he’d always have a very good reason as to why he’d punched someone three times his size and I could never be upset with him for long, because his heart was clearly in the right place and always has been. I just wish it didn’t come with so much stress and black eyes.”
“So when I met Darcy for the first time as she was straight up fighting three Hydra agents with only her taser and her fists, it felt like old times.”
Steve and Darcy both laughed. Shortly after the fall of Shield, a newly escaped Bucky had come across her fighting for her life and lended a (metal) hand. She hadn’t had time to thank him before he’d disappeared, and wasn’t sure how well he remembered it. Apparently, very well.
“She had so much spunk, I couldn’t help but hope she and Steve would cross paths one day. They’d be an absolute force to be reckoned with, if he could ever get up the nerve to talk to her.”
There were more nods of agreement.
“Much to my surprise and delight, when we met up again in Wakanda, he had his feisty new scientist girlfriend with him, and between the beard and the amount of flirting that was going on, I was wondering “Who are you and what have you done with Steve?””
He paused as another wave of laughter rippled through the guests.
“But it was plain as day that my initial instincts had been correct and they not only got along well, but straight up adored each other. It made me happier than I’ve been since God knows how long.”
He cleared his throat.
“Sam reminded me that Steve and Darcy have one more thing in common: being total trolls and committing felonies. Gotta say, that’s right on.”
“We can’t help it if people fall for it,” Darcy replied, with a very unrepentant shrug.
“No, we can’t.” Steve agreed, putting on his most innocent face. “The felonies were necessities, anyway.” Sam aimed the side eye at him and Steve shot his friend a wink.
“Despite that, we love them anyway and wish them a very happy marriage. To Steve and Darcy!”
Bucky toasted the couple and there were loud cheers as glasses clinked together. Then the rhythmic tapping of glasses began and Darcy turned toward Steve with an eager expression.
“You know what that means, babe.”
“You bet I do,” he murmured. “Here’s to more felonies.”
She was giggling as he kissed her.

Heat Waves- Rafe Cameron
A/N: This IS a repost from a request I got on my old blog. I hope this is enough for you guys for tonight so I can work on getting some new stuff done and queued up before I leave on vacation. Enjoy!
Sometimes, all I think about is you
Late nights in the middle of June
Heat waves been faking me out
Can't make you happier now
Usually heat waves in North Carolina don’t come around until July, but this year we had a massive heat wave in mid-June which is very out of character. Rafe was laying on his bed in only his boxers since it was so hot. The air conditioning was having a really hard time keeping up. He was going to go to the beach but it’s 2 in the morning and he has no motivation to get up. You two had gotten in a massive fight. All he wanted was to apologize but you had told him you needed time. All Rafe can keep thinking, is that you’re off with someone else having the time of your life. He never felt like he was good enough for you to begin with, but by some miracle, you chose him.
Usually I put somethin' on TV
So we never think about you and me
But today I see our reflections clearly
In Hollywood, layin' on the screen
You just need a better life than this
You need somethin' I can never give
Rafe decided to put on a movie to distract him from you. Of course, the first thing that came on when he turned on the TV was the Titanic. Usually he didn’t really care for the movie and would change the channel. But when he saw the main character, Rose, running off with Jack instead of her husband Cal, all he can picture is you running off with your old best friend, JJ. He knows that at one point, you did have a crush on JJ before you guys had gotten together. All he could think was, “at least JJ is stable. He doesn’t do drugs, he hasn’t ever killed anyone, he’s a Pogue -but obviously there’s something there if she liked him. Maybe she’d be happier is I just left her alone.” Rafe couldn’t stop picturing you and JJ as the main characters and it broke him heart.
You can't fight it, you can't breathe
You say somethin' so lovin', but
Now I gotta let you go
You'll be better off in someone new
I don't wanna be alone
You know it hurts me too
You look so broken when you cry
One more and then I'll say goodbye
You were woken up to a knock on his door a few hours later. “Hey..” he said. “Listen, I’m sorry for getting so mad earlier. I love you, and I know I shouldn’t have over reacted.” you said. You were looking down at your hands playing with the rings on your fingers. “It’s okay baby. I get it. Me hanging out with Barry stresses you out. And I know I broke my promise to you about staying clean.” he replied. He sat on the bed while speaking to you, turning toward you to give you his full undivided attention. “Rafe it’s okay. How about we go to a meeting together tomorrow so we can get you some help.” Rafe just nodded and motions for you to come closer to him. You stand and walk toward him, and you situate yourself between his legs. He leans up and kisses you. “Listen babe... we need to talk..” Rafe said. You just shake your head and kiss him again, “I know what you’re going to say. Can we just be together one last time, please?”
I just wonder what you're dreamin' of
When you sleep and smile so comfortable
I just wish that I could give you that
That look that's perfectly un-sad
Rafe woke up early the next morning because he knew what he had to do. He looked down at you and saw you tangled in the sheets with your hair slightly in your face. He reached over and brushed the hair behind your ear. He saw you lightly smile at that as you slept. You looked so peaceful and happy and he hoped you were dreaming of the good times between the two of you. He knew that the smile would drop off of your face when you woke up so he slowly untangled the two of you from each other. He walked to desk for pen and paper and began to write. When you woke up, Rafe was gone but there was a note with your name on it in his place. You slowly read the note and it brought tears to your eyes. You finally let the tears fall at the end of the letter. “I’m so sorry. I know that with my issues, there was no way that I would be able to make you happy. I wasn’t sure about my decision until last night. You deserve a better partner than me. Financially, I can give you everything you want. Emotionally though, I can’t. I’m sorry. I still love you, but I can’t be with you.” You immediately dropped to the floor in tears. You fell asleep at some point because you woke up to someone shaking you awake. “...Y/N! Are you okay?” you heard. You opened your eyes to look at the stranger. “JJ? What are you doing here?” you asked. “You weren’t answering my texts. I got worried that something happened. I know Rafe was high at the party last night... I was afraid he did something to you...” he said nervously. You told JJ what happened and he vowed to stay to cheer you up until he saw that big, beautiful smile on your face again.

[Part 1] [Part 2] [Part 3] [Part 4] [Part 5] [Part 6]
—————
A few days had passed since Marinette had burned the Adrien photos, and Luka was relieved to note that they hadn't come back since. Marinette seemed equally at ease, their daily calls becoming more and more relaxed with each time she told him about her still-empty wall. He did wish he could do a little more concerning the red string around her neck, but his mind was drawing a blank and she was happier than before regardless.
The main problem however, was the relation to the miraculouses. Everyone knew that Ladybug wasn't interested in Chat Noir, a fact that made the knowledge of the red string even worse. He wasn't sure if the red strings were tied to the miraculouses or not - or how if they were indeed connected - but he speculated that it was about more than just talking to Marinette about Adrien; Chat was a factor as well. He couldn’t imagine the societal pressure of Ladybug and Chat Noir being a couple, and no one had to do much research to realize that Chat Noir was okay with it while Ladybug was very much not.
He'd have to take on the red string from both sides of the masks, and it took one particular day for him to get his chance.
"You want me to go on patrol with you?"
Ladybug nodded, balancing herself on his windowsill as she replied, "If you'd like to. Chat Noir is busy tonight, so the position's opened and you're one of the people used to having a miraculous."
Luka caught himself before he could start smiling too much, knowing that it was Marinette under that mask and she wanted him to go on patrol because they were friends.
"I'd be honored to."
She beamed at him, and after the snake miraculous was on his wrist, he was transformed and the two set off for the rooftops together.
—————
Viperion glanced left and right as he went along with Ladybug. He'd been called enough by then to have gotten used to superheroing, though it was his first time actually on patrol. Given the situation they were in, he was thankful that Adrien was busy that particular night with what Viperion could only guess was Gabriel's orders.
The red string was still dangling around Ladybug's neck, though Viperion'd grown attuned enough with his fate sensing that he could stop focusing on it and simply see her if he chose to. It didn't stop him from thinking about it, but it helped.
Ladybug seemed to know the route to take, so he mostly followed after her, but it was partway through where she'd decided that they should take a break. Paris was always quiet right after akuma attacks, meaning that they could afford to take it easy since there'd been one just that afternoon.
They leaped buildings until they reached the Eiffel Tower, scaling the monument until they reached the top platform. He didn't miss that she'd avoided using her yoyo for the job, possibly to put them on an even playing field.
Letting out a breath, Ladybug leaned against the railing and she gazed over the city. Gesturing to the view, she explained, "We'll have a good vantage point from here in case anything happens."
Viperion chuckled. "You really do think of everything."
She blushed faintly, but took the compliment casually. "I'm just doing my job." She turned her hip to more easily grab her yoyo, then opened it and reached inside. "Anyway, are you hungry?"
He tilted his head in curiosity, then grinned as she pulled out a bag of macarons from the Dupain-Cheng bakery. It wasn't anything suspicious given that it was known as the best bakery around.
"Thanks," he replied gratefully, taking one of the macarons she offered him.
She grabbed one as well and they took a simultaneous bite of their respective treats. He was a little surprised to hear that she brought along snacks, but supposed it made sense if breaks during patrol were a common thing after akuma.
They settled down on the ground, Ladybug placing the open bag in-between them so they could pick them out at equal leisure. Tossing him an apologetic but teasing smile, she added, "Sorry, but cushions wouldn't fit in the yoyo."
He raised his brows at her, then glanced down at the hard ground below them. He snorted at her joke, noting, "It's nice to see you outside of akuma battles, where you can relax and play around more."
She smiled shyly at him, in a way that was so Marinette that he couldn't believe he hadn't figured her out sooner. "Thanks. Chat says I have no sense of humor."
He frowned, replying without hesitation, "Chat's wrong."
She waved him off, though he could tell that she appreciated the comment. Hearing that Chat had told her something like that was news to him, despite all the research he'd done into their relationship. Granted, he imagined that anything could be said off-camera and he couldn't have known.
"Does he say things like that a lot?" he asked, hoping he wasn't prodding too much. There was just something about how casually she'd said it that unnerved him.
"Huh?" She blinked, thrown off by the question, then rubbed the back of her neck. "Well... most of the time, he flirts instead. It's..." She hesitated, like she wasn't sure that she could talk about it. Glancing at him, then back to the open sky, she relented and added, "—it's a lot sometimes, but he does his job well enough, so it’s not like it’s a serious problem. I don’t know, it’s not like I’ve never wondered about the what ifs of having someone else, but whenever I think about it, I just—"
She squinted at nothing, Viperion's gaze flickering down to the string, which had became visible now that he was focusing on it.
It had tightened, pressing into the black of her bodysuit in a way only he could see, and he found himself squinting just like she was.
"—I can't imagine being Ladybug without him," she said.
He pressed his lips together, trying to suppress any reaction to the comment. He'd suspected it for a while, but actually seeing it was something else entirely.
The red string demanded dependency on Ladybug's part. He wasn't sure how much it pulled Chat on the other end, but judging from what he'd gathered from Marinette's luck and fate's blatant favoring of Adrien, he could guess.
Ladybug peeked up from her macaron when he remained silent, confusion passing over her features. "What? You look like you have something to say."
"Ah—" He looked down, brows furrowing as he hoped even more that he wasn't pushing boundaries. "—just... I know that he's been with you since the beginning, but I don’t think you need Chat Noir to be an amazing Ladybug."
She straightened, dropping her treat in surprise and then fumbling to catch it. Perhaps she hadn’t caught onto what her words implied, or had said them without thinking due to the string and was now facing it head-on.
He continued, "You've dealt with akuma plenty of times without him, and you work well with all your heroes. I'm sure you could make the best out of any partner you had." He smiled reassuringly at her. "Maybe Chat Noir only seems as good as he does because he's at your command."
Ladybug's cheeks tinted red, nearly matching her mask, as she ducked her head at the high praise. She raised the macaron back to her lips, chewing on it as if that helped hide her face.
It was only after she'd slowly nibbled the treat all the way down and swallowed that she replied, "T-thank you."
He shrugged, having only been honest.
"Chat Noir..." She cleared her throat. "Well, Paris would disagree with you."
"Paris is wrong too," he replied in the exact same tone as when he was discussing Chat. After careful consideration, he asked cautiously, "Do you mean how—"
"Yeah, the—" She frowned and waved both hands vaguely in a gesture that no one but him would've understood. "Yeah."
So she was all too aware of their status of a "couple" in the eyes of Parisians. It made sense with everything he already knew, but he hadn't wanted to be right.
The phrase she'd used when talking about Adrien resurfaced in his mind: made for each other.
He clenched his fist. She was being pressured on both sides of the mask, towards both sides of Adrien's mask.
"I don't like it," she admitted, "but Chat drinks it up and I guess the public is into the idea of this superhero couple. They see us like celebrities."
"It's not right," Viperion hissed, and Sass would've been proud of it. "You save Paris every week and you deserve to be respected."
"There's nothing I can do about it," she told him, almost in defeat. "Besides, Chat... he needs a pick-me-up every now and my pep talks don't always work on him. He pouted when I brought in a male hero for the first time."
"That's not your fault!" he argued. "Chat needs to be confident on his own. He can't keep relying on you or make you feel like you can't do anything without him doubting himself. You're under enough stress as it is, and—!"
He caught himself, his mouth shutting tight before he could reveal exactly how much he knew. Ladybug blinked at him, seeming puzzled by the outburst but not suspicious at least.
He took a breath, reminding himself to stay calm. Reaching back, he grabbed hold of his lyre and brought it in front of him, strumming a few notes and letting them settle the discordant song that was playing in his stomach.
"My point is... Chat shouldn't be someone adding onto the pressure. That's not a partnership."
Her shoulders relaxed, her eyes darting around as she processed his words. She looked conflicted.
"...I'm sorry," he added, settling his lyre in his lap. "Not for what I said, but—I didn't mean to bring the mood down."
"No, no." She shook her head, pulling her knees to her chest. "It's good that you did. I've actually—" Her voice grew quiet. "—been thinking about it lately."
"About what?"
She made the same vague gesture from before. "All of that. There's been a lot going on and it's given me a lot to think about."
He knew immediately what she meant.
"It's... frustrating," she groaned. "I don't like Chat that way. I mean, maybe sometimes he said or did something that I found charming, but that's just—not enough for me, you know? To only feel something like that for a second or two." She averted her gaze, growing distant. "Everyone seems to think we belong together, and... I hate that they might be right."
"What do you mean?"
She sighed. "Well, I'm a hero; a permanent one. I need to be there all the time. Every akuma, every purification, every Miraculous Ladybug. Only I can do it." She hugged her legs closer, burying her face in her knees. "I want a relationship. I want someone to date and be close to, but I can't have it. I'm always running away; always going somewhere with some excuse so I can go deal with the akuma, and I can't tell anyone! Can you imagine how that'd make my date feel?"
He opened his mouth, but a thought occurred to him at the last second that gave him pause.
"You... so you think..."
Once again, he hoped to be wrong. He wanted so badly to be wrong.
But Ladybug looked up, her expression pained as she confirmed, "There's only one person I could be with where it wouldn't have to happen."
His blood ran cold, he felt sick, and the memory of the red string flashed in his mind, wrapped around Adrien's ring.
Fate didn't just tie her to him; it wanted to make her believe that he was her only choice.
Viperion's grip on his lyre tightened, his teeth grinding together behind closed lips as he tried to maintain an aura of calm. He wasn't just angry anymore, he was livid, and he silently wished that the face on the other side of the butterfly miraculous was the universe so he could give it a piece of his mind.
How could you do that? How could you take a girl who's always worked so hard and tried her best, and treat her like she's nothing? No, not nothing, because then at least she'd be left alone. How could you treat her like a plaything, as if she's some prize for a guy to win no matter what? How could you manipulate her to think that everything's her fault, just so she never thinks to fight back against the ones putting pressure on her?
What's love if it's gotten through such force?
"V-viperion?"
A hand falling upon his jolted him back to reality, his head snapping up to see Ladybug there, her pupils shrunken in and her brows knitted in worry. Whatever his face had looked like, it'd scared her.
His first instinct was to feel guilty. He was supposed to be comforting her, not making things worse by letting all of his emotions show on his face.
His second instinct...
He tossed his lyre off to the side, Ladybug's gaze briefly following it until his hands fell upon her shoulders. Her eyes widened, and she let out a squeak as he pulled her onto his lap and into a hug.
The only thing he was grateful for in terms of her superhero status was that he could hug her as tightly as possible without hurting her.
"A-ah..." She seemed tempted to say something, but fell silent soon after and hugged him back, burying her face into the side of his neck. He felt her strength in the way she squeezed him, like she was starved for his affection despite them being in a similar position not too long ago.
He understood. Before, they were tackling her problems when she was Marinette, but Ladybug had never had someone to personally confide in concerning Chat.
She'd needed this.
"You already do so much," he whispered. "You should be allowed to be with whoever you want, and you shouldn't have to settle when it comes to love."
She sighed against him, like she knew deep down that he was right. "You don't know how bad it could get. Some hypothetical boyfriend wouldn't deserve that kind of treatment."
"I get why you'd feel that way," he said, "but I'd hope that this hypothetical boyfriend would know that you're worth it."
Her fingers twitched against his spine. "...You don't even know me."
"I know that you're creative. I know you're smart. I know you work harder than anyone else to keep Paris safe. I know you have a right to feel however you want, and if you think you need to earn being with someone who's not Chat, then you've more than done that." He slid his hand up to squeeze her shoulder. "I also know that you'll find a way to make it work, if you put in even half the care into it as you put into Paris."
"Vi—" She paused, her voice softening. "Luka..."
They stayed like that for a while, the bag of macarons going untouched an arm's reach away. Viperion just held her, sensing that she was feeling out what he'd said and that they didn't need words for it. That was fine with him; her love life was none of his business. He only wanted to help her have the choice to live it.
A breeze blew by, their bodysuits protecting them from the wind chill factor as their hair was lightly shifted by the gentle air. Ladybug stirred, letting out a noise like she felt personally slighted by the wind, then pushed herself up, her hands on his shoulders as she pulled away from him.
"We...we should get back to patrol," she admitted.
He offered her a small smile, noting that she seemed to be in better spirits at least. "Alright." He let her out of his lap, leaning over to the side to pick up his lyre.
He heard her retreating footsteps, along with a light, "You can keep the macarons."
He glanced up at her, surprised. "Are you sure?" he asked, knowing that he was mostly responsible for them not eating all of them. "Is that what you usually do on your breaks: let Chat have them?"
"Oh." She stood awkwardly in place, looking off at the sky before dropping her gaze to the ground. Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she grinned sheepishly and replied, "Actually..."
He tilted his head, curious.
She peeked over at him, eyes half-lidded as she told him, "I've never done this with Chat."
He raised his brows, as if that would make her clarify, but she simply turned away from him and started doing a few stretches, clearly prepping to head back out.
Pursing his lips in thought, Viperion turned his back to her, giving attention to the little plastic bag resting neatly on the ground. Even though it was open, the little ribbon that had held it shut was still around it, suddenly feeling more special now that Ladybug had said something so... cryptic.
He looked out at the view they had, then Ladybug, then back at the bag, feeling extremely slow on the uptake as his brain pieced things together based on what information he had.
Then, suddenly his brain supplied: Wait... was this a date?
He buried the thought just as quickly, shaking his head and scolding himself for jumping to that so fast.
"Are you ready to go back to leaping rooftops?" Ladybug asked behind him, her tone light even if she was still in her own head.
"Yeah," Viperion replied, picking up the little bag like it was something precious. Hoping to lighten things further, he then added, "I'm new to this, so I might lag behind."
She chuckled. "You might. Apparently I'm a really amazing hero according to someone I know."
He grinned to himself. Even if she was just teasing, it felt good to hear her compliment herself in a way.
He had just tightened the ribbon to seal the bag back up, listening to the sound of Ladybug's foosteps, when he felt a sudden niggling sensation at the back of his head, or—behind him? He turned, puzzled, then leaped up as he caught sight of a teal wisp in Ladybug's path.
He rushed over as she yelped and tripped over what would seem like nothing according to her. Catching her just in time, he also realized belatedly that it may've been an overreaction, given that she was in superhero form; he could only blame it on reflex.
Ladybug stood up with a start, covering the lower half of her face in shame. "Ugh, that was so embarrassing, I'm sor—"
"It's not your fault," he hurried to say, not explaining further as he grew lost in thought, staring silently at the place where the wisp had formed itself.
He hadn't just seen the wisps this time; he had sensed them. That was new, and he wouldn't have questioned a new addition to his fate sensing had it not been the fact that he hadn't particularly done anything as Viperion; it usually took an instance or two of him using his power for something to manifest, but here...
He glanced up when he realized that Ladybug was looking at him curiously. Debating with himself for a moment, he ultimately trusted his gut and met her gaze, asking,
"Do you mind if I talk to Sass again after this?"

hey, if you have the time can you write a blurb where harry gets home from the studio and he's stressed, so the reader ask him to take a bath with her? and it's really fluffy, with rose petals and wine glasses? I know this is all over the place, I'm sorry shakshskwh
we all need a bit of domestic harry fluff in our lives so here we are <33 hope you like it;
You knew something was wrong without having to ask him.
Harry had rushed out of the apartment this morning to go to the studio, having had an important call from Tyler about something, leaving you to clean up around the house all day. However, there had been no good morning text from Harry, or even one from a lunch break, and he hadn’t picked up your call when you did. Harry never ignores you, unless he is in a really bad mood. Something to do with not wanting to be a burden and pass on his troubles to you. So you, being the best girlfriend in the world, had decided to do something kind for him when he gets home.
About an hour ago you’d texted Harry just to check up on him and also so you could time your plan of making him feel better.
To Harry: I love you. Hope you’re okay. Let me know when you’ll be home❤️
From Harry: Sorry about today love. I’ll be home at around 7pm. I love you xx
You’d bought the raw ingredients from Asda and made blueberry muffins - Harry’s favourite - along with buying some avocados in case he preferred to have that on toast when he gets in. You’d bought a bottle of red wine, the cheapest you could find obviously, and poured two glasses waiting. Finally, you’d ran a hot water bath with lavender soap and added a few rose petals, because you knew they were good for calming and relaxing. The bathroom smelt soft and cosy, like a warm blanket on a winters evening.
It was 7:08pm when he walked through the door, you hearing the door shut with a heavy sigh of relief from your boyfriend. He slipped off his blue checkered vans and walked through into the kitchen, his keys making a clattering sound as he dropped them in the key-bowl.
“Y/N, love?” He called out to you, but you didn’t respond. He furrowed his eyebrows at the silence, but even more so at the arrangement that was left on the kitchen counter-side for him.
He made his way over, his socks making him slide slightly on the shiny marble floor. He took in the selection of things on the side; the blueberry muffins, the avocado, the glass of red wine and its’ bottle and even a little cut out photo of you and him that he knew you’d stole from a photo frame - somewhere around the apartment. He smiled as he picked up the photo and remembered the memory well; you latched onto his back as Harry waded through a muddy puddle back in Holmes Chapel, because he didn’t want you to get wet and he’d been the only sensible one in wearing welly boots. You were both laughing and it made Harry’s heart swell at how much your happiness could bring him his too.
He placed the photo down and turned to the envelope that sat next to the plate of muffins. It was a white envelope signed ‘H x’ on the front and underlined. He turned it over and undid the seal, bringing out a card that had written on the front ‘You’ve got this!’ which Harry could’ve sworn he saw in Asda the other day underneath the exam congratulations cards. He smiled at your kindness, turning it over briefly but then sighing when he noticed you’d written a message too.
“God damn you Y/N.” He muttered under his breathe, tears forming in eyes from the overwhelming amount of love he had for you - just as you had for him.
Harry, it read, I know today had been tough but look, you got through it and i’m proud of you and for that you deserve a blueberry muffin! If you’d rather share a glass of wine with me then come join me upstairs and we’ll finish the bottle together. I love you always. Yours, Y/N. It was signed with a kiss of your lips in pink lipstick. Harry brought the paper to his lips and kissed over the mark where you’d kissed, never feeling so loved than right now.
You were an absolute treasure.
Harry picked up his glass of wine and the bottle, before heading off upstairs. Originally he’d thought that you’d been in bed, waiting for him with a tub of raspberry ripple ice-cream and the latest episode of Love Island, but as he ascended the stairs he could smell the lavender bubbles and the even sweeter scents of your rose petals you loved so much.
He walked into the bedroom first, just to make sure that you weren’t actually in there, before making his way to the bathroom. As he opened the door, the heat hit him all at once making him feel so cosy and blanketed.
Then he saw you.
You were shoulder deep in the bath, which was tucked into the corner of the room in a triangle sort of shape, looking as beautiful as ever. Your hair was up and out of the water, it not being its’ wash day today, and you’d accidentally given yourself a bubble beard. You looked innocently perfect, even with a glass of wine in your hand. You smiled when you saw Harry, moving from the far side of the bath to the side closest to Harry. You rested your arm on the side of the bath, propping your head up to have a steadier vision of your boyfriend.
“Hello.” You spoke softly as Harry walked over to the bath, placing both his glass and bottle on the side of it carefully. He then came in front of you and crouched down with a crack of his old-man knees.
“Hi beautiful.” He stroked your cheek with his fingers, watching as you hummed in sight of having him so close and so loved up.
“You okay?” You asked, looking into his eyes for any sign that he was about to lie. You wanted him to be honest with you and honest he was.
“I can’t lie and say everything was perfect today, no.” He chuckled, you pouting when you heard his answer.
“I’m sorry. Want to take a bath with me?” You asked and this is exactly what Harry loved about you. You didn’t force him to talk about whatever had happened when you could clearly see he was still working through it himself, instead you simply comforted him and tried to help him remind him that you were here for him whenever he was ready to open up.
“Love to. Let me just go undress.” He stood up, but you reached out to grab him on his blue jeans before he could get very far.
“Don’t go. Undress here, please?” It was the little please that made Harry cave, not wanting to make you upset. He’d do anything to make sure you were happy.
He nodded and pulled off his socks first, making you laugh as he wiggled his oddly sized toes. Next was his grey TPWK jumper that he pulled off over his head along with his t-shirt.
“Damn.” You wolf whistled as his torso became exposed, making Harry shake his head and laugh at you from your silliness. “This strip tease is ten out of ten, Styles.”
“Oh shut up you.” He laughed as he pulled his jeans off and then finally his boxers. He didn’t even hesitate on that last item of clothing, both of you being absolutely comfortable with exposing yourself in front of each other. There was nothing sexual about being naked with each other, however, this time. You were just in love with each other. Simple as that.
He stepped into the bath, you moving back over to the far side so he could climb in. Once he sunk down and submerged his body he let out the biggest and happiest sigh, making you giggle. He took his glass of wine and took a large sip from it, leaning his back in relief afterwards.
“Nice?” You asked, knowing the answer already because it was sat proud on his face.
His eyes met yours and you pursed your lips under his gaze. You could see the cogs turning in his head and you only wished that you could see inside his head, just for a moment, to understand how he felt.
“C’mere.” He spoke softly, turning to put his glass back on the side as you shifted over towards him. Once you met him, he took your glass.
“Hey!” You whined in protest.
“Can have it back in a minute. Just want you for a bit, okay?” He explained, devoting his entire attention to you now. You sat on his lap and spiralled your arms around his neck, Harry’s hands finding their home on your waist.
Your lips both did the talking then.
He cupped your face gently and pulled you into him until your felt his plush pink lips kiss yours. You divulged in him and his love, feeling his warmth everywhere and your mouth. He was warming your heart the same way the bath warmed your bodies. There was nothing rushed or sensual about the kiss, it was simple and pretty. His lips moulded to yours perfectly and his tongue made sure to slide it’s way inside your mouth for a taste. You tasted divine - like the richest, most expensive, of wines. He pulled back first, not before you could push an extra peck to his lips for good measure.
“I’m so lucky to have you, Y/N.” Harry smiled, keeping ahold of your face as he spoke to you.
“And I you.”
Harry shook his head as the misunderstanding of his words. “No. You seriously have turned my life into something worth living and I couldn’t be happier to be with you. Y’so special to me, Y/N, and I love you.”
“I love you too, Harry.” You leant to kiss him again. “And i’m here for you for anything.”
“I know. That’s why i’m lucky to have you.”

“𝐻𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑒 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑚𝑠 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑢𝑛 𝑙𝑜𝑜𝑘 𝑑𝑖𝑚“
Camilo Madrigal x reader
Summary- Camilo seeks for your love, but your so far away
Warnings- angsty?
Author note- Camilo has he/they and reader has she/her pronouns
Tumblr media
You looked so beautiful as you danced with the towns people, your hair swayed so perfectly around your shoulders and back matching with the rhythm of the bands music.
The way your feet bounced and tip-toed around the tiles Camilo thought you might just fly away as you danced so freely, they could barely look away as if he was in a trance.
To deep in this love they harboured for you, his heart beating rapidly against his rib cage feeling as if he looked anymore longer it would burst. They wanted so badly to shout it at the top of his lunges, just how much he wanted you.
But as they watched you dance gliding your long, skirt making it flow with every slide and jump you made, he couldn’t be happier to see how bright you shone.
“Her smile seems to make the sun look dim”
with a deep breath out he couldn’t stop these words from spilling out. They where too lost in the sight of you to stop himself.
“Camilo! ¿Acabaste? Drooling over Y/n?”
Camilo jolted in his seat alarmed, as they quickly registered that the words he had spoke didn’t go unheard. His beloved hermana Stood stiffly behind him, with a knowingly teasing smile plastered on her lips. He harshly wiped the edges of his mouth and chin,
“I, wasn’t even- I’m not drooling!”
They fumbled around with their words, not knowing how to deflect her vexing words. As they glanced behind his shoulder at his sister, he couldn’t find himself to hold her gaze for long as Dolores held a teasing look in her eyes at Camilo.
In turn they promptly inspected the wooden marks on the table they sat in-front off trying to hide is embarrassment.
Camilo straightened his shoulders regaining his composure,
“ I wasn’t drooling”
they spoke with a huff of air escaping his lungs forcibly.
“And I heard you,”
Dolores spoke softly, wiggling her eyebrows, making her brother fall his head against the table with an annoyed groan.
“Don’t, I mean- please don’t tell anyone I said, that!” They whined out, with hope his sister will give him mercy.
Dolores only hummed in response finding Camilo’s struggle amusing, she too took a look at you. Dolores couldn’t help herself as she smiled at how radiant your dancing was,
“Isabela’s a good teacher” she apprehended, once hearing them working together a few times before.
Camilo leaned his elbow on the table, slowly sinking his cheek against his palm, finding his eyes drift back to you so effortlessly, they became accustomed watching you from afar.
“You should go talk to her, maybe ask her to dance?”
Dolores spoke kindly, as much as she loved to tease them especially after enduring his teasing about Mariano. She believed this was not the time.
Camilo only murmured with a;
“ I wish it was that easy” in response, his eyes flickered shut remembering all the times he’s so very tried to talk to you. His chest felt heavy with disappointment,
“I can’t-, I just don’t know how to. Every time I try to talk to her or even approach her, I always mess it up”
And he most definitely did, in he’s own way. He’s words always seemed to fail him and get caught in his throat, or even their voice would crack, they would blame puberty, but it only seemed to happen when he was around you.
It made them so frustrated with himself, he’d get so stressed and shy that there where many times he’d shape-shift into you without noticing while trying to chat with you, and you’d think he was trying to prank him.
“Dolores, I’ve tried but it never works. I’m fulfilled by just seeing her. The last thing I want is to mess things up”
Camilo felt his chest tighten at his own words. They so badly wanted to talk to you, so badly wanted to hold you, so, so badly wanted your love.
But you felt so out of reach yet so close he wanted nothing more but only you

Their Little Secret
Pairing: Loki x Fem!Reader
Plot: This can be read as a sequel to What If or even as a solo.
The reader and Loki have been best friends for long, but eventually realised that it was more than just friendship. As they secretly step into a new world, the entire team, unbeknownst to it all, makes it their mission to make the love birds realise and confess what they feel for each other.
Warnings: Fluff, slight angst in relationship, a happy ending! Oh! And late-night hazards and a long read. Sorry!
Read time: ~26 mins
Tumblr media
“(Y/N), could you please take a look at this once?”
Loki waltzed in through (Y/N)’s door with a file in his hand. She was reading a book, when he knocked.
“It’s pretty late. I thought you said you’d go straight to bed. What are you doing with this poor old piece of rat-food now?”
“I did. But then I couldn’t sleep. So...I thought of doing something boring enough to lull me to sleep. But this old file actually turned out to be quite interesting,” he explained animatedly. “I just couldn’t understand one part. So, here I am!”
She eyed him suspiciously as he spread his arms to accentuate his royal presence.
“That, or you wanted to see me, and this file is a flimsy excuse,” she drawled.
“Come on, darling! I’m fond of you but not to the extent that I’ll have to make lame excuses to see you. Besides, why would I need to lie to you?”
After taking a moment to consider his words, she stepped beside him and asked him to show the file.
“It is here - this part,” he pointed at a chunk of printed information.
“This one is…” She pondered aloud. “That doesn’t make sense! Loki, w-where did you get this from? That doesn’t look like any mission report or anything. It looks like...an excerpt...from...a book?”
Before she could register, a kiss landed on her cheek. It was immediately followed by Loki excitedly wishing her, “Goodnight, darling,” and vanishing into a green glow.
She stood stunned for a while. Gradually, the tingling sensation where Loki’s lips had caressed her skin began to spread like wildfire through her face, and soon she was blushing and smiling like an idiot.
“Idiot!” She cursed him as she flopped back on the bed.
After a few seconds of fiddling with the bookmark, and staring at blurred lines on the page, she closed the book, and decided to call it a night. After what Loki just did, nothing else could compare to a happier ending to the day.
As she closed her eyes, sunny memories started flooding her mind.
It had all started hardly two months ago, when they were having their usual midnight snacks, casually talking the day’s stress away, talking nonsense - just the usual best buddy night.
But then something happened: a childish game of “what-ifs”.
It was fun, for the most part, until Loki had asked her about her intentions if she met the love of her life the next day. Already stained with painful memories of past relationships and with the hopelessness about her love life, she tried her best to evade the question. But Loki, being Loki, kept proding her until she gave him a genuine reason for her frustration.
And everything changed after that. Because in trying to save the other from falling down the emotional cliff, they had saved each other. They had found each other.
She laughed softly as she remembered the hesitancy in both their hearts as they had crossed the threshold of friendship.
That was the first time that she had kissed him. On the cheek. And that was even before she had fully realised that her feelings for him were no longer platonic.
That was the first time Loki had put an arm around her and pulled her close to him.
Another giggle escaped her as she remembered the moment when the soft morning light, and a stiff back had awakened her from her sleep.
Both were still sitting in almost the same position as they had been when they were chatting.
She had found herself cocooned in the arms of Loki, her legs tangled with his, both of them safe under the thin blanket that Loki had picked while preparing for their night. Her head rested on his chest, while his rested on the top of her head.
The last thing that she remembered from the previous night was them promising each other that no matter how things turned out, they’d always be beside one another. And then Loki had pulled her closer, and gently laid her head on his throbbing chest.
It was now peacefully moving up and down with his sleepy breaths. Before opening her eyes to reality, she stole a few moments to let this feeling sink in.
When she had closed her eyes the night before, there was an excitement so high in the air that Thor’s thunder would have been ashamed. It was the hammering of Loki’s heart that had eventually put her to sleep.
The morning brought a peaceful rhythm beneath her ears. It was beautiful, it was calm, it was...reassuring. She loved it more than the thrill of the past few hours.
But no matter how long she tried to soak herself in the feeling, the incidents of the night before still seemed somewhat unbelievable. How could something months long change overnight? Was it all a mirage then, cast by the treacherous night?
The darkness of the night sets the mind free to imagine anything, take any decision. But the clarity of the day brings logic to the forefront, which sometimes turns out to be good but sometimes not so good.
But...it had felt right. She took a deep breath to clear her mind. It still felt right. That was all the assurance that she needed for the moment.
As she turned in her bed, she remembered the raspy voice in which Loki had wished her a good morning.
The close proximity, the husky, sleep-laden voice, the sudden change in the air - everything made blood rush to her cheeks and ears. Loki had sleepily chuckled at her flushed state, though he was only slightly better than her in hiding his own flustered state.
Ever since, not a single day had passed when the two of them hadn’t thanked the stars.
She used to think that she loved Loki’s friendship more than anything. She was happy to be proven wrong when she experienced Loki’s courtship.
A different flower everyday, sometimes inside her room, laid carefully near her door, sometimes on her bedside table, and on some mornings, beside her pillow.
She was used to going out with her best friend Loki, but going out with her boyfriend Loki was an experience on a whole new level. Light brushes of the fingers, sometimes an arm around her shoulder, intertwining of fingers, occasional brushes of his lips on her temple, and not-very-occasional blushes that tinted both their skins.
Every day, before parting for the day, she was blessed with bear hugs from him - something that she had never expected him to be fond of.
It was the best time of her life! Almost every doubt that she had about this relationship not working out had evaporated long ago. It was - she dared to say - perfect!
Except for one small hiccup: they had to keep everything off the radar.
For one, they were still testing the waters. No matter how happy and confident they were with one another, their newfound relationship was still at its infancy, and they didn’t want to declare anything to the rest of the team right away.
Second, everybody in the compound had been teasing both (Y/N) and Loki about “getting a room” for a long time. They didn’t want to give them the satisfaction of knowing that they were finally correct. Well, figuratively.
Unfortunately, the team did not know that they had already confessed their feelings to each other. And so, they were desperate to make the love birds see the truth of their emotions. The Avengers, tough and stubborn as they were, never gave up. And Loki and (Y/N) simply decided to play along.
For instance, around a month and a half ago, Tony had thrown one of his usual parties at the compound, and had brought a line of apparent suitors for (Y/N) and a host of gorgeous ladies and lads to introduce to Loki.
Though the new couple was initially confused at the unbridled attention, they eventually understood what was going on: Tony Stark had decided to use the age-old recipe of jealousy to crack either one or both of them.
It was fun, they both admitted later, to dance to the tune, and give the host a frowning face when he realised that neither were biting the bait. Instead, both seemed to be enjoying themselves flirting or dancing with their respective “baits”.
What escaped the eagle eyes of the team were the furtive looks that both (Y/N) and Loki threw at each other from time to time. It wasn’t easy to masquerade those longing glances with playful teases that two friends might share. But they had to.
Late into the night, after the party was over, Loki teleported into (Y/N)’s room. The security cameras were still a threat to their little secret.
“Hello beautiful!” Loki purred when she didn’t turn all her attention towards him as she usually did, but kept herself apparently busy in making the bed.
“Is this my consolation prize for all your flirting this evening?” She tried to keep it casual but her displeasure seeped into her tone.
“Ooh, someone sounds jealous,” he drawled.
“Speak for yourself, God!”
Loki stepped towards her, and gently caught her hand, putting a pause to her actions.
“Look at me. Please?”
She smiled as she faced him, but he could easily catch the facade.
“I know what you're trying to do. You can’t fool me, (Y/N).”
“And what is it that I’m doing?” She tried to question with the same casualness but her voice kept betraying her.
“You are trying to make it look like it didn’t affect you - me being with all those lovely people. But in reality, you are hurt, even if it is a tiny bit.”
Her smile faltered. Of course, she couldn’t fool the God of Lies!
Closing her eyes, she shook her head, “I don’t know why you’re saying this Loki. I’m perfectly fine! Why would I-”
“You and I understand each other perfectly,” Loki gently cut her off. “Or did you forget that?”
He reminded her of the one line - of the one realisation - that had triggered the tiniest thoughts of them being possibly together, if at all.
Realizing that all doors were closed for her, she tried to turn away from him, only to be stopped by the trickster.
“If it makes you feel any good,” he resumed, “it did burn me a bit, too, to watch you dance and laugh with those clowns.”
At this, she burst into laughter. Loki was glad at the change of mood, and allowed a few happy creases around his eyes as well.
“Is that true,” she asked, “or are you simply trying to make me feel better?”
He shrugged, “What do you think?”
“I’d like to believe that it’s true,” she confessed shyly.
“It is.”
“Well then,” she said after suppressing a wild grin that tried to crack its way through, “I guess that makes us even.”
“Guess so.”
“I’m sorry, Loki,” she sighed, “I lied earlier because I didn’t want to put any kind of pressure on you or anything. I mean...jealousy? That’s the first stage of obsession. And...I don’t want you to think that...”
“Hey,” Loki held both her hands in his, “your feelings for me will never suffocate me. On the contrary, they help me breathe. You have given my life a new purpose. I thought I was happy being your best friend. But this...this is even better. Never think that you’re putting any kind of pressure on me. None of those men or women out there, or anywhere for that matter, can bring me what I feel with you, for you.”
Words seemed insufficient for what she wanted to say. So, she simply nodded, and wrapped her arms around his torso.
“Thank you,” she murmured into his chest.
He chuckled as he ran his hand on her head, “Being jealous actually makes you look cute.”
She unwrapped herself from him just enough to look at his face, “Says the man who just confessed being jealous himself!”
“I never said I don’t look cute,” he shrugged again.
Shaking her head and laughing, she pulled his face down, and placed a warm kiss on his cheek.
“Go now, before I punch that cute face of yours.”
“When you say ‘punch’,” Loki drawled, “do you mean…’kiss every inch of’...?”
Blushing furiously, she pushed him towards the door.
“Shut up, and just go!”
Loki laughed as he wished her a lovely night, and disappeared into his usual green glow.
---------------
But the Avengers were not the ones to give up.
Not many weeks later, Natasha planned an evening at one of her favourite nightclubs. While Steve, Vision and Bucky backed out of the plan, given their previous not-so-delightful interactions with the loudness and the crowd, Thor and Tony were adamant on dragging Loki with them.
“We thought you liked a little fun! Since when did you start wearing grandpa’s knickers?” Tony snorted.
“C’mon, brother, don’t embarrass me,” Thor’s voice boomed in Loki’s room. “(Y/N) has embarrassed me enough. She didn’t want to go either. Said she’d rather sleep than be tormented by the blasted noise.”
She said what? That means she’s going to stay back-
“Wait, what?” Tony turned towards Thor with a perplexed look, “She said that?”
He turned around to face Loki again, “Are you two planning something or have you both become boring?”
No, no, no! They’ll add up…
“I am not boring!” Loki declared. He decided to stay quiet on the other option that Stark had mentioned.
“Well, then join us,” Tony shrugged.
With a dramatic roll of his eyes, Loki agreed.
Needless to say, his eyes went wide when he saw (Y/N) dressed up and ready for the outing when he was expecting her in her pajamas. When she silently questioned him, he immediately realised that he had been tricked.
I have to be more careful.
The team’s plan soon became obvious when, after a few rounds of shots, everyone made a beeline to the dance floor, leaving behind a string of excuses, and Loki and (Y/N) at the bar. Even through the crowd, the duo’s trained eyes could catch glimpses of their teammates shadowing them.
“Do they really think getting drunk will make us confess?” She shouted over the sound of the music.
“I’m a God,” he shouted back. “Midgardian liquor doesn’t affect me anyway.”
“Well, it affects me,” she shrugged and drained another shot down her throat, “and I love it!”
Last one.
She had started feeling dizzy. Getting wasted could be saved for another moment when she wasn’t being spied on.
A few minutes passed in silence as neither was fond of shouting to communicate. (Y/N) bobbed her head to the music while Loki eyed the mass of bodies swaying and moving with the beats.
“Would you-” Loki began but stopped midway.
While her eyes questioned him, he silently slipped from the stool, and came to stand almost behind her.
His hot breath, dipped in a faint whiff of alcohol, hit the shell of her ear as he purred, “Would you like to dance with me?”
She was rendered immobile for a while. A small corner of her mind wondered if Loki knew what he was doing to her.
I bet he knows what he’s doing.
“I’d have loved to!” She drawled. “It’s a shame there isn’t room for a waltz here, and I wouldn’t want a God like you to hop like teeangers in the crowd.”
She felt his chest brush against her back.
“I was actually hoping that you’d be up for that dance,” he pointed at a section of the crowd where bodies were gliding against each other in the most provocative ways.
Her breath hitched again. She didn’t need to turn her head to know that Loki was smirking at his achievement.
But this time, she wouldn’t squeal, she wouldn’t push him away with a timid smile. Diffidence and boldness both tugged at polar ends of her heart until boldness won the war.
Not this time. Two can play the game, darling.
“So, what’s stopping you?” Her lips almost brushed his earlobe as she tilted her head to whisper in his ear.
Where did that come from?!
Loki wasn’t prepared for this.
It was usually him who threw mildly suggestive comments which she pushed away with a shy gesture. He never expected the tables to turn so quickly.
She did not even have enough shots to get drunk yet, he noticed.
“What happened, did the cat get your silver tongue?” She smirked.
“I-I...uh...”
While Loki continued to gape at her, an inkling of panic nudged her chest.
Did I take it too far? He obviously wasn’t ready for this, but…
It all must have been another prank for him, and I…
No!
With a cackle, she sliced the apparent tension in the air. “So, finally got you, ha? Mischief!” She winked.
Turning towards the bartender, she ordered another shot.
Loki’s brain was still trying to decipher her behaviour.
Did she really mean it…? It didn’t look like a joke though…
As she focused on her drink, he thought he saw a flicker of disappointment cross her face, but the incessant dance of light and shadows made her features almost unreadable.
“You should get back to your seat, y’know?” She told him with downcast eyes.
“What?”
“The team might notice and...they might know.”
Did her voice just...tremble?
Loki hated the place: the noise, the dim lights, the secrecy - he hated the way everything seemed to veil her from him.
“I think I’ll go find them.”
Downing another drink, she hopped off her seat, and disappeared in the crowd, leaving Loki to his thoughts.
Once they were back in the compound, Loki went straight to (Y/N)’s room. This time he did not sneak into her room using magic; he knocked on her door. This wasn’t the moment to play a game of cat and mouse. If the entire compound was prying on him, he would gladly allow them to. Well, maybe not gladly.
“Hey! Hi, Loki!”
Her smile was as bright as ever.
Was it all in my mind then?
“Are you alright?” He tried to sound calm but his anxiety turned out to be more stubborn than him.
“Yes, I am. What- Come inside first.”
She stepped aside, allowing him to stride into her room, and flump down on the bed.
“I’m sorry,” he began honestly, “I thought...I thought you were upset. At the club… I thought I saw you...sad? I’m not sure. I just had this feeling that you’re probably not okay, and-”
“Loki,” she held his shoulders and gently hushed him, “I’m fine.”
Her assurance enabled him to breathe normally again.
Caressing his face, she placed a light kiss on his forehead.
“Thank you, Loki! For everything. For caring so much about me.”
“(Y/N),” he held her hand, “are you hiding something? From me?”
He didn’t miss the way she gulped before replying.
“Why would you say that?”
“Look, I’m sorry if I cross the lines sometimes. I know I tease you but those are… I’m sorry if I’ve ever made you uncomfortable or have hurt you.”
“You are an idiot! Do you know that? You’ve never hurt me or made me uncomfortable. Now, get these stupid thoughts out of your little brain, and give me that devilishly charming smile of yours.”
Despite all her compliments, his eyes did not light up as they usually did.
“Are you sure?” He asked her.
“Absolutely!”
“You’ll tell me if you’re upset, won’t you? Promise me.”
He took note of how she licked her lips before nodding.
Something is not right.
“Come here,” he pulled her in his arms, and buried his face in the crook of her neck. “And I’m not an idiot. I am smart.”
---------------
The next few weeks turned out to be more and more challenging as the team was now hell-bent on getting them exposed. What made them so sure of their relationship was still a mystery to the couple.
“Are we that obvious?” (Y/N) asked Loki one day.
“I don’t know,” he shrugged. “It is said that it shows on the faces of those in love. So, I guess...”
The words, coming from him, filled her with warmth. If that be true, and if everyone could see that they were in love only by looking at them, then she’d happily trade their secrecy for more obviousness.
But every time they came close to taking the relationship to the next level, she would find Loki backing away. Every time they had the opportunity to reveal their beautiful secret to the team, he would quickly shield both of them.
Why, Loki? Do you not want us?
---------------
It was a rainy evening when Tony had gathered everyone in the living room. At first (Y/N) thought that it was an urgent meeting for a new mission. But when she knew the actual reason behind it, she couldn’t prevent the snort that escaped her.
“Excuse me?” Tony pointed at her. “You got some problem, princess?”
“Truth or dare? Like, how old are we? Twelve?”
Tony spread his arms as if to silently make a point. “Since when did you start categorizing fun into ages? Ever since you started dating Rock of Ages?”
“Hey!” Loki made a tiny protest at his nickname.
“We are not dating,” (Y/N) deadpanned.
“And there goes my question,” Wanda sighed from across the room.
In response, (Y/N) simply rolled her eyes, and grumbled, “Kids!”
Once the game started, the team wasted no time in getting to the point: (Y/N) and Loki.
The first one to get attacked was Loki.
“No, no truth for you,” Sam chimed in just as Loki sucked in a breath to choose “truth”.
“He’s the God of Lies!” Sam announced, “He can easily slip away with any lie!”
“The bird’s got a point!” Tony agreed, followed by everyone else. “‘Dare’ for you!”
“This is not how it works,” Loki protested.
“Did you play this on Asgard? Thor?”
“No, we had never even heard of it until we came here,” the big brother responded.
“But-”
“Nah-ah!” Tony didn’t let him finish. “This is exactly how it is played. Who wants to give the God of Mischief a mischievous dare?”
(Y/N) wanted to protest; she wanted to tell Tony that he was bending the rules to get to them. But any word of support would further corner them both. All she could do was play along.
“Kiss (Y/N). And you know where I mean.”
Nat’s voice yanked her out of her thoughts. She watched in horror as Loki’s expressions changed from shock to anger while the entire team cheered.
“Nat!” (Y/N) jumped up from her seat, “do you even hear yourself? He’s my best friend! We can’t just...”
“Why not?” Sam questioned with a smirk. “You seemed to be enjoying it when I was asked to kiss Buck. He’s my best buddy.”
“Speak for yourself,” Bucky mumbled.
“C’mon, it’s just a game! Don’t be a spoilsport.”
Steve?? Et tu?
Rubbing her eyes, (Y/N) tried to find a way out of it. She knew well that if Loki kissed her, she’d melt into it. Everything would become obvious.
No, no, no!! This can’t be. They can’t just expose us like this. Loki would be so....
Wait, why isn’t he saying anything?
She opened her eyes to see Loki standing. His expression was unfathomable.
Oh no! Is he going to…
“This is outrageous!” Loki snapped and turned on his heels to walk out of the room.
Oh!
For reasons she did not want to explore then, (Y/N)’s heart dropped several feet. She was expecting a similar reaction from him but wasn’t hoping for it.
Quickly gravitating back to the situation in hand, she stammered an excuse or two for his behaviour, and followed his tracks to check on him.
Once both of them were out of earshot, Tony leaned towards the group, “Did we save it or kill it.”
“Looks like we killed it,” Sam sighed.
“Trust me,” Wanda smiled, “we saved it.”
“Vision? What do you think?”
“I still do not understand why you have to torment them like this. Let them come out when they want to. It’s-”
“Okay!” Tony interrupted him. “Sorry I asked! My bad!”
The door to Loki’s room was half open when (Y/N) arrived. Gingerly, she admitted herself inside.
Loki was standing at the window, with his back towards her. His head was bowed but his hands were curled into fists on both sides of his body.
“Loki?”
The name came out so softly that she couldn’t be sure if he had heard it, given that he did not move at all.
But before she could call him again, he spoke.
“I did not want this to happen,” his voice bore that particular kind of seriousness that usually preceded an unwanted or unhappy revelation.
What?
“I am sorry, (Y/N).” He turned towards her, and she realised in an instant that he wasn’t fooling around.
“What are you talking about, Loki? What did you not want to happen?”
Her chest felt tighter with every passing second.
Please, not what I’m fearing.
“This,” his hand vaguely gestured towards the hallway. “Whatever happened just now. I knew they would come down to this one day. I never wanted-”
“It’s okay,” she interjected. “I did not like that either. Although they meant no harm. It was just for fun… And I understand if you're having second thoughts. This entire thing between us was just something… y’know, a spur of the moment kind of thing. I totally understand if-"
"(Y/N)! Where is this coming from? What are you even talking about?"
She couldn’t make herself look at him, for if she did, he could clearly see the moisture pooling in her eyes. She needed to appear strong.
“Loki, you’ve always been my best friend. And I’ve loved that. You know it. And it’s okay if this new turn in our relationship does not turn out to be something that you had hoped for. It happens. It’s okay-”
“It’s not okay for me,” Loki grasped her hands. “What are you saying? Why? A-are you not happy with me? Have I done something wrong? Did I offend you in any way?”
What is he saying? I thought…
As she looked up at him, a couple of drops ran down her cheeks and on her shirt.
“(Y/N), please tell me. You had promised to tell me anything and everything that upsets you. So, tell me what happened. Why do you speak of our relationship as if it was a mistake?”
“It never was a mistake for me,” she breathed, “I thought you felt...I thought you...”
“What?”
The shaky way in which the question came out of him stung her more than any thought of Loki not wanting this relationship. It was then that she realised how badly she had hurt him.
He never wanted to leave! He always wanted me? Us?
She didn’t know what to say.
“I’m sorry,” she finally managed. “I thought that you...didn’t want...this. Us. I-”
“Why would you even think so? Why would you bear such thoughts when I love you with every fiber of my being?”
Her head snapped up.
“You love me?” Her own voice became shaky.
“Of course, I do,” he gently placed a hand on her cheek, “always have. At first I thought it was a love for friends until that night, when I realised that I wanted to be more than just friends with you.”
More tears fell down her cheek as she rejoiced in the moment. Loki wiped them all, and placed soft kisses on each cheek.
“And all this time, I was afraid that you’re having second thoughts,” she confessed.
“And why is that?”
“Because...”
How do I say that it’s because you haven’t kissed me yet? And ran away from the one moment we had today, albeit in a not-so-comfortable situation?
“Because I haven’t kissed you yet?” Loki asked her.
Her heart beat so violently, she could have sworn that Loki could hear it. Her tongue felt too heavy to speak.
“I didn’t think you were ready,” he admitted. “That is the reason why I did not dance with you in the club either. I was teasing you, yes, but when you responded I was definitely taken aback. I wasn’t sure if it was you or the ambience talking. So…
You have always shied away from any comments that I make, and...I did not want to push anything on you.”
“Oh, Loki!”
She hugged him so hard that even the Asgardian had to take two steps back to balance himself.
“I’m so, so sorry,” she wept into his shirt. “I misunderstood your actions for… I pushed you away. I thought you weren’t ready for this relationship. I’m sorry!”
Tears of both apology and relief flooded her. He tried to sush her as he rocked her slowly from side to side.
After taking a moment to compose herself, she stood straight. Loki looked at her red-eyed, tear-stained face and tutted.
“Doesn’t suit you, darling. Show me your crazy, grinning face.”
With a chuckle, she gave him a funny face-splitting smile, making both of them laugh.
“(Y/N), I didn’t want to kiss you because of a game or under the watchful eyes of that insufferable bunch of imbeciles. But if you will allow me now, I-”
“Just stop being so polite for a change, and kiss me,” she tugged at the collars of his shirt.
Loki didn’t need to be asked twice.
---------------
In the hall, the Avengers were busy speculating the outcome of their little plan, when the couple in discussion walked in. Hand in hand.
“Yes, we had changed our relationship status around six months ago,” (Y/N) announced to a stunned audience.
“And yes, we kissed. Just now. And I hope you know where I mean,” Loki added before dragging his love away towards the elevator.
“What was that?” She whispered as she was being whisked away.
“What?” Loki asked innocently, although his eyes stated otherwise.
“You didn’t need to declare that we just kissed!” She laughed as the doors of the elevator closed.
He shrugged while jabbing at a button. “They wanted us to kiss anyway. So, I gave them the satisfaction of knowledge. Besides, they need to know who you belong to now.”
“Aha! Possessive?”
“No! I also made it clear who I belong to now.”
He smiled as the doors opened to the hallway that led to his room. And once again, his words had rendered her speechless.
Silver tongue!

𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 fire lord! zuko x fire lady! reader
Tumblr media
authors note: Firstly I just want to apologize for the hiatus, I want to be more active from now on! I’m starting finals next week so I’ll thankfully be done with this semester soon and will also have more time to write. Anyways I hope you enjoy!! I also want to apologize if Zuko is ooc here.
requests:
First of all, your tumblr looks sooooo cool! I’m looking forward to reading all of your future work! Imagine this: Zuko is annoyed by people constantly asking him about a future heir, but when one day his friends also start to ask, and even his uncle and his own mother join the baby fever train, it’s too much for him so he complains about it to his wife who only reassures him with her lovely self and her understanding smiles, not telling him yet that she is in fact pregnant. What do you think ?
Can you write an imagine with zuko who is clearly, utterly and soooo obviously in love with the reader (outgoing, courageous, loving) and maybe with the prompt “So you...well...I mean...I could give you a massage?” Thank you a lot! ^^
Tumblr media
As the current Fire Lord and Lady, it wasn’t uncommon for the citizens of the Fire Nation to be deeply invested in your relationship - it was to be expected especially due to the uncommon nature of your union. What you weren’t expecting were Zuko’s close friends and relatives being wrapped up in your business as well. Being outside of team avatar, you were naturally more welcoming to his friend's constant questioning, but Zuko on the other hand was not. He couldn’t understand why they cared so much all of the sudden. They hadn’t been as interested when he was in a relationship with Mai - so why did they care so much now?
It wasn’t as if you weren’t getting along with his friends or family - you got along with them quite well and were very loved by them in fact. Outside of them though, you weren’t always as welcomed, unfortunately, the Fire Nation was still coming to terms with having the daughter of an Earth Kingdom General as their Fire Lady. The arranged marriage was put in place to solve several different ‘problems’. After Zuko broke up with Mai several years ago, he hadn’t begun dating anyone else due to being so busy but he’d eventually be expected to have an heir in the next coming years.
Although they had gotten better, tensions among the Earth Kingdom Colonies were still high and both sides were having difficulty keeping them under control. Eventually, an agreement was made for the daughter of a high-ranking Earth Kingdom General to marry Zuko - that daughter being yourself. Arranged marriages certainly weren’t unheard of in either nation - but a union of this sort was definitely unique.
Though he certainly wasn’t thrilled about it, Zuko understood that it was for the good of the people - and it wasn’t like there was anything he could do about it anyway. Even with his position as the recently crowned Fire Lord there still wasn’t much he could do.
On the other hand, you understandably had some issues coming to terms with your new situation at first. Despite being known by those around you as friendly and just a joy, in general, to be around - the woman Zuko had first met was quite the opposite. He could recall it like it was yesterday. Though it was awkward and stressful at the time, he now considered it to be the best day of his life.
“She’s in there.” A female servant whispered to the young man quietly, as if she didn’t want to speak loud enough for you to hear from your place at the balcony.
“Thanks,” he replied with a soft smile, bidding the elderly woman goodbye as she shuffled down the hallway. Turning towards you he was faced with a warm tropical breeze. His advisors had arranged for the two of you to meet a couple of weeks before that dreaded day, and for some reason, they thought Ember Island was the appropriate place. A combination of anxiety and general distaste for being on the island was causing him to be quite stressed - which led him to be more awkward than usual.
“Um, hello?” he spoke up faintly, as if not to startle you. He was sure you heard him come in, but you hadn’t turned around since he entered the small room. You stood several feet away with your hands placed on the railing, your [hair-texture] locks sifting gently with each gust of wind along with your predominantly red clothing. It was against what you had wanted to wear that day but it didn’t seem as if you had much a say in anything going on in your life recently.
You understood that doing this would be for the greater good of the Earth Kingdom and that your situation could technically be worse. You could have been married off to some old creep - but if you were being honest with yourself being married to the Fire Lord sounded just as bad. As you turned around though, you were surprised at the face you were met with.
He had a much younger face than you had expected, but the slight hollowness of his cheeks and the worry lines on his forehead told you that he had experienced things beyond his years. He also happened to be quite handsome - not that you wanted to admit it though. You had been bent on hating him ever since your father told you who you’d be wedding.
He was the leader of the Fire Nation, of course, you would hate him! The country that has had a century-long reign of terror on the world - and now you found yourself engaged to their leader. What had you done so wrong in your life to deserve this?
As much as you wanted to plan on running away the first chance you got, you knew deep inside that it would only cause tensions to increase and more issues to arise. You wanted the best for the residents of the Earth Kingdom, so you agreed to go through with it, but did so resentfully - which you had every right to feel that way.
But as you glared up at the young male next to you and tried to keep your attention off of the scar over his left eye - you couldn’t help but wonder what if this was the man who joined the avatar in defeating the Fire Lord? He wasn’t what you expected at all. Standing in full armor with his hair holding the fire nation insignia in a top knot - he looked awkward and out of place. You almost felt bad for him - keyword is almost.
“What do you need Fire Lord?” you questioned him, turning your gaze back to the rushing waters of the ocean.
“Um,” he faltered slightly, probably not anticipating your response. “I just wanted to introduce myself-“
“I know who you are.” you brushed him off, turning around and walking towards him - grabbing his collar and pulling him to your height. “We might be getting married but if you think for a second I will ever be nice to you, you are sadly mistaken.” you hissed at him before letting him go and walking out of the door.
Zuko couldn’t recall how long he stood there watching your form leave, all he remembered was standing there like an idiot with a red face. He hadn’t expected you to like him of course but he surely wasn’t expecting that.
As he reminisced on memories long ago while sipping his Uncle’s tea, he couldn’t help the smile that appeared on his features. As stated earlier, It may have been an unpleasant memory back then but now he considered the day he met you to be the best day of his life. Though your relationship had surely faired through many complications for a while in the beginning - surprisingly, you became fond of Zuko over the years.
It was certainly a long time coming but that strange friendship you two shared eventually evolved into love against all odds. That didn’t mean you weren’t constantly giving him an ear full (as you should tbh) your first months together. But as time progressed and you learned that he may not have been the evil prince that you had heard so much about, at least not anymore.
He wasn’t that same angsty teenager he had been years ago looking for the avatar, he was now a young adult growing quite well into the position of the Fire Lord - which was no easy feat. Taking another sip of tea, he watched his Uncle and Mother come to take a seat with him.
“How is it, Nephew?” His Uncle asked with a mischievous grin and a raise of two bushy eyebrows - albeit already knowing the answer.
“It’s great as always Uncle,” Zuko responded with a small smile, his Uncle's expression making him just a bit concerned, causing his Mother to chuckle. Though she had gained a few wrinkles over the past couple of years, she was still as radiant as she had been in her youth. She was also much happier being able to live with the family she had been apart from for many years without fearing Ozai’s intervention. It came with a price though - it seemed as if her relationship with her estranged daughter who was now on the run would never be resolved. She never lost hope though.
“Zuko,” his mother began speaking, catching the young Fire Lord’s attention with a raise of his eyebrows. “When are you going to give me a grandchild?” She asked teasingly, eager to see his reaction. In turn, her son had barely kept himself from spitting out the mouthful of tea.
“Why do you ask that?” He choked out in between a series of coughs with Iroh patting his back gently.
“You haven’t?” She asked in between chuckles, noticing how her son got bewildered at the mention of having children of his own. “You know you’ll eventually have to have an heir at some point right?”
“It’s not that I haven’t thought about it... but Y/N and I are just really busy.” He thought aloud, wishing he could run a hand through his hair - but was unable to since it was pinned in a top knot.
“Zuko, you never know when you’ll get this time of peace again. What better time to raise a child?” Iroh reassured, wiggling his eyebrows. Letting out a groan, the young Fire Lord attempted to mentally prepare himself to go through this same conversation every time he visited his family.
Over the next couple of weeks, the constant badgering he received from his friends and close relatives started to frustrate him further, so who could he turn to? You of course.
Being married for several years now, you were more than used to Zuko’s rants, so you simply just reclined on the bed with an eyebrow raised as he paced back and forth.
“I don’t get it! Why is everyone so concerned about when we’re going to have a child or not?” He questioned seemingly no one as you attempted to keep your face from contorting into a smile. It wasn’t as if you didn’t understand his frustrations, it was just funny to watch, especially since you were already pregnant.
You were surprised that he hadn’t noticed honestly, with you staying in for the past few days due to feeling sick. Who could blame him though? It wasn’t as if he wasn’t attentive and loving as a husband, he was extremely busy as of recent-and also just dense at times. After noticing his silence for a few moments as he looked over the balcony, you decided that maybe this could be the perfect time to tell him.
Getting up and sneaking behind him, you snaked your arms around his waist and turned so you could see his face. He let out an audible sigh of what sounded like relief before returning your smile and your hug.
“You want a head massage?” You questioned pulling away, wiggling your fingers playfully.
“Please.”
For the past couple of years, Zuko had been letting his hair grow out so now it rested around his shoulders.
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you.” You started tentatively, but as usual, he was too caught up in the sensation of your fingers raking across his scalp to entirely understand what you were saying, so he just nodded in response. “I’m pregnant.” You stated plainly, ceasing your scratching. Not getting a response for a few moments, you turned to face him with a worried expression.
Much to your surprise he was grinning up at you and placed a warm hand on your cheek. “Really?”
“Yes. I’m sorry it took me so long to tell y-“ you were abruptly cut off by him pulling you into another hug and placing a kiss on the crown of your head. “So you’re happy about it?”
“Couldn’t be happier.” He responded sincerely, leaning into your shoulder so you couldn’t see the redness on his cheeks.
Maybe your family and friends would finally leave the two of you alone now?

As Long As You're With Me
God, what a long day. What a long-ass day. Rachael’s ankle ached and throbbed when she finally sat down on the couch. She winced as she reached down to rub at it.
“You’re supposed to be resting that, you know…” Dylan said, walking out from the kitchen into the living room. “Even at work…”
When she’d left that morning, he was still lazily walking around the house shirtless in a pair of grey sweats, so she was a bit surprised to see him looking so pulled together, especially since he said he’d be spending the day at home. He was wearing a dark blue sweater, and a pair of his favorite khakis. His hair was that perfect disheveled he managed to achieve on a fairly regular basis. He looked good, but he always did.
“No rest for the wicked,” she smiled at him, but she was sure it wasn’t convincing him.
He shook his head and sat down next to her, placing his hand on her thigh. “I really wish you’d taken another week off before you started going back into the office.” He looked down at her feet.
“I know, but...they needed me in there and the new guy is a fucking disaster.”
He sighed in resignation with a small shake of his head. “Well come on then,” he said, patting his thigh. “Get ‘em up here.”
“You really don’t have to—”
“Yes I do. So, shut up and gimme the hoof”.
Rachael laughed sliding sideways a bit on the couch so she could swing her legs up over his knees. She rested her back against the arm of the couch, watching him as he peeled off her little ankle socks and balled them up before he set them on the back of the couch.
Dylan ran a long finger down the side of her swollen ankle, stilling over the slight bruise that still discoloured it.
Rachael could see the way his brows knitted together like he was feeling her pain when he touched her skin. He loved her. She could see it in everything he did—everything he said—and she loved him too.
“I should have been there when you slipped,” he said, looking up at her as he laid his palm on her skin, the heat of his skin soothing the ache a bit. “Could’ve caught you.”
She smiled with a sigh. “I would have found a way to bust my ass with you holding my hand, and I think you know that.”
He laughed, wrapping her foot up in his hand and rubbing his thumbs into the arch. “The clumsy does run deep, huh?” he grinned, his hands working over her aching joints, but not stressing her tender injury.
She could feel the tension easing, some of the swelling in her foot and toes calming down under his touch.
“So how was your first day back?” he asked, swapping his attention to the other foot.
Rachel paused for a minute, watching the careful way he held her, the gentle way he worked his fingers against her skin. “I mean...it could have been better? Could’ve been worse?”
“Ah,” he said before he pressed his lips into a thin line. “So on a scale of one to workplace-fuckery, you were sitting around a ‘meh’?”
He had a way of making her feel like nothing was worth sweating over too much. That whatever it was that was bothering her just shouldn’t. That he was there for her, and that they’d get through it together. That she could lean on him and he’d gladly shoulder the extra weight.
“Yeah. ‘Meh’ sounds about right.”
“So,” he said, shifting the conversation “I was gonna cook for you, but I figured you’d actually like to enjoy your meal after a long day.” He flashed her a wink.
“Mmm, very astute of you,” she teased.
“Hey!” he reprimanded, his hands stilling on her skin. “I’m allowed to self-deprecate, but no one said you could pile on.”
“Sorry, sorry, go on…” she encouraged.
“So…” he drew it out, teasing her even more with the way he exaggerated the start of his sentence, “I ordered in…”
“Little Duck!?”
He huffed in feigned annoyance. “The art of surprise is entirely lost on you, isn’t it?”
“You act like I shouldn’t know that you’d order pad thai for such an illustrious occasion.”
He gave her foot a small squeeze before he spoke. “Fair.” He continued working over her sore joints with his strong hands, both of his thumbs driving the tension out of the arch on this foot too. “But, I think I can still surprise you,” he waggled his brows.
“Oh, really?” Rachel grinned.
“Mhm,” he hummed, worrying his lower lip between his teeth.
“We’ll see…”
He didn’t respond, he simply shook his head. “I’m gonna go grab some ice for this, because...while I know I have a magical touch with these,” he held up his hands and wiggled his fingers. “This bad boy,” he pointed to her swollen ankle, “needs the frozen peas treatment.”
She chuckled at him as he carefully lifted her feet from his lap and sat them down on a pillow he tucked under them.
“One sec,” he said, skipping off into the kitchen.
Rachael heard him digging around in the freezer, whistling and puttering around in the drawers for a minute or so before she heard the sound of a bunch of ice skittering across the kitchen floor. “Dyl! You alright?” she asked, sitting up a bit, holding her weight up on her palms.
“I got it!” he said, poking his head around the corner as he chased down an ice cube that had bounced through the threshold into the dining room. “Nothing to see here...don’t get up. I got it under control.”
“All right…just don’t hurt yourself. We can’t both be laid up,” she covered her eyes for a moment with her forearm, clearing her head before she laid back and relaxed, listening to him laugh a little bit before he started to whistle.
“Gotcha, you little fucker,” he said, presumably to an ice cube he’d tracked down in the kitchen. He strode back out into the living room, proudly holding a ziplock bag of ice and a tea towel. “M’lady,” he bowed, presenting the bag like it was a glass slipper on a velvet pillow.
She scooched along the couch to make a bit more space for him to sit down when the doorbell rang.
“Thai!” he almost shouted, wrapping the bag of ice in the tea toweL. He rested it on the pillow and set her ankle on it. “Hold that there,” he said, rushing for the door and flinging it open.
“Will do.”
Their dinner was sitting on the doorstep. “God. Don’t you just fucking love DoorDash?” he asked, plucking the bag from the ground before he shut the door. “Gone are the days of awkward conversations with food-peddling strangers. I couldn’t be happier about it.”
“Are you saying you don’t miss that long minute of awkward silence while you’re waiting for the transaction to finish?”
Dylan walked over and sat the bag on the coffee table. “That’s exactly what I’m saying.”
“Fair enough,” she agreed.
Dylan walked past her to the kitchen and grabbed some drinks before he snatched the remote control off the end table and turned on the TV. “Dinner and a movie?” he asked, looking over at her.
“Sure,” she smiled, sitting up a bit.
“Ah, ah,” he tisked, walking around to her side of the couch, standing over her and grabbing a pillow from the chair to place behind her back. “Rest,” he said, leaning down to press a soft kiss to her forehead.
Rachael sighed at the sweet gesture, but she wanted a little bit more than sweet. When he pulled back from her, she reached and pulled him down to her so that she could kiss him properly. His mouth was quick to adapt to the sudden need hers had for it. He leaned down even more to deepen their connection and his hands were soon knotting into the waves of her hair.
When she felt like she needed a breath, he cradled her face in his hand and peppered her lips and cheek with small kisses until his lips were brushing against the skin of her neck below her ear.
“Someone’s hungry,” he teased.
She smirked, brushing her lips over his ear. “Yeah...but mostly for thai food.”
“Ouch,” he laughed as he stood, “way to hurt a man’s feelings,” he feigned a gutshot as he walked back around the coffee table.
She tucked her legs back long enough for him to flop down onto the couch and adjust the cushion so that it was propped up on his thigh before she rested her ankle on it again.
He turned on the TV and opened Hulu. “Never Been Kissed?” he asked, pausing on the preview screen.
“Really, Dyl?”
“What!?”
“I thought you were going to surprise me?” she teased
He turned to her, looking less than impressed. “Alright, smartass. You pick.” He tossed her the remote.
“Fine,” she said, picking it up as he leaned forward and started taking the food out of the bag. He set her box of pad thai down in front of her, along with a pair of wrapped chopsticks. She grinned when she found the perfect movie. “This one,” she said clicking on it.
Dylan looked up at the TV, and his expression turned to indignation before he turned to her. “Really?” he asked before he ran his tongue along the inside of his lower lip.
“You said I could pick!” she whined. “I’m injured and sad…” she pouted, batting her lashes.
He narrowed his eyes, but she knew she had him wrapped around her finger.
He drew in a long breath and sighed it out before he spoke. “Fine..”
She smiled and pressed play, grabbing her food from the table as the title sequence for ‘Love and Monsters’ began to play.

Immortality and Nymphs Pt. II
Tumblr media
(Philza x reader)
Kisses. God Phil missed your kisses against his skin most of all, you were always so warm and gentle. He couldn’t wait for you to be a constant in his life once again, he walked all three of you back to his home. Wilbur was eyeing you the entire time almost like he was trying to find the differences between himself and you, thinking, The boy looked much more like himself than he did you, but there were tiny similarities here and there. You didn’t seem to mind though when he asked you questions you answered them truthfully. Once they arrived back at his house Wilbur stood up a little straighter,
“As much as I’d like to stay and talk more, Fundy and I need to get going.” He trailed off a little looking at you, “I still have thousands of questions but I have a revolution to plan.” Wilbur continued as you raised a questioning eyebrow, Phil’s wings ruffled a little as he cleared his throat.
“You should come back next week with the others.” Phil gave a slight nod of his head, “I’ll send a crow to Techno.” Fundy was the one to whip his head and nod eagerly, Wilbur adjusted his glasses but eventually nodded.
“That should work.” Wilbur turned to face you taking a shaky breath, “I’ll see you then?” A tender smile spread across your lips as you reached out to cup Wilbur’s cheeks.
“I’m not going anywhere again baby boy,” You whispered as he flushed hesitantly leaning into your touch “I promise.” He pulled away, clearing his throat taking Fundy’s hand as he waved.
“Bye, grandpa! Bye, grandma!” The fox hybrid called and Phil watched as you flushed deeply. Phil wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you close, his wings spreading around your body like a cocoon. You giggled softly as he nuzzled his face into your neck, his beard prickled your skin, you missed the feeling.
“Fundy seems sweet,” You mused as the man behind you kissed the skin of your neck. Phil only hummed in agreement which caused you to laugh, “you’re so not paying attention to what I’m saying are you?”
“What?” You burst into laughter at his genuine confusion, “Come on now. I missed you, can you blame me? You’re distracting.” Phil let out a little huff as you pulled away to face him,
“Then show me how much you missed me my crow,” You purred running your fingers through his feathers, you felt his entire body shiver as his breathing hitched. His fingers dug into your hips,
“Careful. They’re sensitive and wouldn't want a pretty thing like you to get hurt.” Phil teased pressing his forehead against yours,
“Oh, I remember.” You winked teasingly as Phil leaned in to swallow your words with a blistering kiss. He felt you melt against his body as his wings fluffed up, both of you poured all your love and admiration for each other into one another. It was then Phil knew nothing changed between the two of you even after all these years apart, there was still the same amount of love and longing you always shared. Phil lifted you into the air and you hooked your legs around his waist, he felt young again, back in the forest by his old home. He felt you giggle against his lips and pull away to rest your forehead on his own, he chased your lips almost desperately. Your hand came up to cup his cheek and he closed his eyes to lean into his palm, “Take me inside first.” You murmured and his eyes lit up mischievously.
“If I remember correctly you never had a problem with making out in the woods before.” He watched your face turn beat red as he smirked proudly, he adored getting you flustered which way to Sunday.
“Yeah well, I’ve lived in the woods all my life. I think I’m ready to stay with my adoring lover in his house, is that really such a bad thing?”
“No. I’d never be opposed to something like that, not when I’ve missed you this much. It’s all I’ve ever wanted, living with you and raising Wilbur, being a family.” He watched you visibly wince and guilt ebbed at his heart, “Hey, hey you had to do what you needed to. I’d rather have you alive and here now than dead or worse.” Phil reassured and you seemed to relax a little bit in his arms,
“I wish I could’ve been here to raise Wilbur with you...I wish I could’ve seen him grow up.” Your voice wavered a little as Phil pulled you close, he hesitated slightly trying to find the right words to say.
“I wish you were there too. But you’re here now, you’re safe and that’s what matters. Plus…” His cheeks flushed a soft pink, “we could always try again.”
“Jesus Christ Phil,” you giggled covering your mouth with your hands and he looked embarrassed. “I just got home Crow, let's give it some time. But...I’m not opposed in the future.” Phil’s face lit up again and he nodded rapidly, he could agree with that, maybe once you built a better relationship with Wilbur and his other boys that’s when the both of you could try again.
Oh god, the other boys. When he invited them all here next week, he hoped they’d make a good impression if not Dadza was going to craft a belt.
“How long has it been since you’ve had an actual meal?”
“God decades!”
He chuckled deeply, kissing your cheek, and led you into his house to have a nice warm meal. Having you around definitely took some getting used to, his days suddenly shifted around as he accommodated for another person but he didn’t mind. Phil woke up happier than he'd felt in a long time, you were curled up against his chest, the top of your head was right under his chin. He ran a hand through your (h/c) hair, letting it run through his fingers, even though it’s been about a week he still felt like you weren’t really beside him.
Wait a week.
His eyes snapped open and he shot up like a rocket, feathers flying everywhere as you groaned, “Crow? Everything alright?” You asked adorably rubbing your eyes, his stress melted away momentarily as he watched you wake up. A few flowers bloomed in your hair as you came to your senses.
“Everythings fine! Just remembered it’s Sunday and the others don’t usually follow set times.” He pulled you from the bed giving you a quick good morning peck on the lips. “Get dressed, something nice I wanna show you off,” He kissed you again longer this time you giggled.
“To who? Our son and your friends?” He gave a happy little nod, as you rolled your eyes, he felt your fingers fix the hair on his face, Phil closed his eyes and leaned against your touch. “But I’ll do as you wish my Crow,” You stood up from the bed and stretched your arms above your head. Phil had managed to get some clothes for you from a nearby village, he still remembered your style, but tried to make it more modern so you didn’t stick out like a sore thumb. You slid on the new clothes, they hung off you loosely. They clearly needed some tailoring, and you slid on the boots he got you the day before, as much as you like walking around barefoot it was pretty impractical.
“Shall we?” Phil held his arm out to you, you wrapped your arm around his own as he led you outside. You both stood on a hillside covered in soft green grass and a big willow tree. Phil looked down at you, his big wings gently covering your back from any danger, he was sure not feeling the grass between your feet was a foreign feeling to you but you didn’t seem to mind. The smile on your face said it all, you were peaceful and relaxed, letting the breeze flow through your hair. “You’re beautiful,” your eyes snapped up to him your cheeks turning light pink,
“Oh stop it old man.” He made an indignant sound as you laughed, your hands reached up and dragged him down to your level, kissing him tenderly. Phil felt his eyes flutter closed and his wings drop, he was snapped back to reality by loud whistling. You pulled back and he pushed you behind him, wings puffing up defensively, standing on the side of the hill were Wilbur, Tommy, Technoblade, and Fundy. Tommy was the one whistling eyes sparkling mischievously, Wilbur whacked him on the back of the head to get him to shut up.
“Dad! Wil’s being mean to me!”
“Don’t be mean to Tommy Wil,” Phil pressed his fingers to his nose with a sigh “Wilbur don’t antagonize your brother.” Fundy was cackling at their mischief, your eyebrows shot up on your forehead and Phil cleared his throat, face pink. Technoblade just stared seemingly eyeing you suspiciously, “(Y/n) these are my other sons. Boys this is (Y/n) Wilbur’s birth mother.” It was Technoblade’s turn for his eyebrows to raise and Tommy’s jaw dropped to the floor,
“No shit.” Tommy gawked, “You don’t look like her at all Wilbur! You’re so ugly, must’ve gotten that from Phil. Sad.” You burst into hysterical laughter watching Phil glare over at Tommy. Wilbur was seething at his sibling but ignored him in favor of giving you a light hug,
“Good to see you, mom.” He whispered,
“Good to see you too.” Phil heard you respond and hug him back, Wilbur whispered something to you and you made a little surprised face before nodding. Phil assumed he told you that the other boys were not in fact his biological children, but those he had adopted. Fundy soon joined in the hug snuggling into your stomach, you ruffled the young fox’s head and he chirped happily. Tommy walked over to introduce himself to you next, he proclaimed to be not only Phil’s favorite son but Wilbur’s favorite brother too. Which lead him to then boldly declare he’d be your favorite as well and Wilbur sent him a scathing look, ah yes, Phil knew that look rather well. Wilbur inherited that look from you, nose all scrunched up and eyes sharp. You shook the young boy's hand and happily told him you couldn't wait to see him fall into the number one spot. Wilbur shot you an offended look and Phil covered up a laugh with his hand, the offending look was sent to his father next,
“Dad.”
“What?” Phil laughed holding up his hands, “If he wants to win your mother’s attention I’m not gonna stop him. Every man for themselves.”
“Phil,” You nudged him with his elbow “be nice.” Tommy began to boast about how awesome he was in comparison to his brother, you sent a wink to Wilbur’s, and his shoulders visibly relaxed.
You were his number one, anyone with a brain could see that.
Phil noticed Technoblade had his eye on you the entire time, it took him much longer than the others to gain trust. He decided to walk away from you to stand by the hybrid's side, “Hey mate.” Technoblade only grunted in response, arms crossed over his broad chest protectively, “What’s crawled up your butt eh?”
“You didn’t tell me ‘bout her.” He motioned in your direction with his chin, “you tell me everything. Why not her?” Technoblade was trying to remain stoic but after all these years he could tell he was hurt. Phil sighed softly scratching the stubble on his chin as he watched Fundy run around you trying to fight for your attention.
“It was hard for me to talk about, she didn’t leave on her own free will. Her life was in danger and I didn’t know if I’d ever see her again. It was a shock when she came back last week, a good shock but a shock nonetheless. (Y/n) was my everything, is my everything. I kept it from everyone because I hoped it would keep her alive and safe from those who wished to harm her.” Phil looked over at Techno, for once Phil’s eyes showed his true age, “I’m sorry mate you know I would’ve told you if I could. Doesn’t take much for me to start gushing ‘bout her. I mean look at her.” Phil glanced back over at you, Fundy was on your shoulders, his hat on your head, meanwhile, Wilbur was wrestling with Tommy on the ground. You looked over at him desperate for his help and Phil only smiled over at you and shook his head. Your eyes screamed distressed as you tried to get the boys to stop fighting, Phil felt Techno’s eyes on him and he looked back at his son and friend.
“I understand I suppose,” Technoblade sighed rubbing the back of his neck, “You wanted to protect her. I can’t be mad at you for that, but no more secrets alright? Promise me?”
“Promise. Now go say hi to her before she gets upset and thinks you don’t like her,” Phil nudged him forward and his eyes widened a little,
“Heh? Phil hold on-”
“(Y/n)! This is Techno.” Phil clapped the man on the back, you looked up at him with a kind smile.
“Pleasure to meet you Technoblade, I like your cape.” Phil watched the man flush in embarrassment at the compliment,
“Eh...thanks. Like your flowers.” He motioned to the flowers blooming in your hair, you beamed brightly at him, always happy to talk about your flowers.
“Thank you, sweetie!” His ears turned red and he waved you off anxiously, he moved to peel Tommy away from Wilbur, wanting to get out of this conversation. Fundy hopped off your shoulders to tackle his father and you let out a breath you didn’t realize you were holding in, “wow. They’re…”
“A lot?”
“Yes.” You laughed fondly, “but…”
“I wouldn’t trade them for the world.” Phil nodded kissing you on the apple of your cheek,
“Good. You better not. They’re all my sons now. I hope you know that” You leaned against his chest, he laughed and you felt his chest rise and fall.
“I’d expect nothing less from you.”
Letters. That’s how most of you communicated in the years to follow, Wilbur would send letters and you would beam in delight. It melted Phil’s heart, he knew his son was busy with the revolution and the now Presidency but he wished he’d visit his mother. You would write him back almost immediately after receiving a letter, you’d seal the letter with a kiss before sending it off with one of Phil’s crows. Afterward, Phil would take you in his arms and pepper you in tender kisses, you would giggle and snuggle into his arms. He told you he loved you, and you cooed and told you loved him back, then you both would share a kiss. Phil loved those days the most, seeing you truly happy made his heart swell. There were days where Phil taught you how to fight, days where you would garden, and days where he let you groom his feathers. He loved that, grooming was another one of the things he missed the most, you got out all the tangled feathers just perfectly. He would lean back against your hands head falling on your shoulder as he panted, his pupils were blown wide as you hummed fondly.
So, maybe Phil enjoyed it a little more than he remembered.
It was a cold autumn day when the letters stopped coming, you were heartbroken, always anxiously petting and feeding his crows. They could sense your disappointment in waves, it was almost choking Phil himself, his heart ached to see you so sad. He pets your hair gently as you both sat on the hill with the willow tree, he noticed the bags under your eyes were dark, Phil’s frown only deepened.
“My love please smile for me, I’ve missed it so much these past few weeks.”
“Somethings wrong,” Your voice was soft looking up at Phil “He wouldn’t just stop writing to us. He always writes to us.” He hated the way your voice quivered, “what if he changed his mind about me?” Phil shushed you softly with a kiss,
“First of all, there’s no way he changed his mind about you. The way the both of you bonded these past few years, Wilbur wouldn’t throw that all away for no good reason.” He tried to reassure you, “Although, I will admit this is strange. Wilbur isn’t one to not write to me, it’s something he’s always done ever since he was old enough to spell.”
“Crow…” You whispered, “can we visit him? Just to put my mind at ease...please.” Phil’s heart melted as soon as he saw your puppy dog eyes, he nodded and you smiled.
Good. He was going to keep that there as long as he was physically able.
The next day, Phil scooped you up in his arms and you headed towards the direction of his son's new nation.
It was called L’Manburg if Phil remembered correctly.
What the both of you didn’t expect to see was a war zone, “Phil…” You murmured eyes wide in fear, he held you to his chest, your brow furrowed in worry. He swore he could see Tommy and Techno looking up at them from below, it didn’t ease the anxiety prickling at his skin, the sky suddenly went black with crows.
A bad omen, something bad was going to happen, and they knew it.
“Phil they’re distressed. Somethings wrong.”
“I know hon,” Phil looked around worriedly, he spotted a glance of Wilbur walking into some sort of room. He landed just outside the entrance, he put you on your feet, “Stay behind me.” He instructed you, you nodded your head clutching onto his bicep. The both of you stepped into the dimly lit room, there were scrawlings etched into the wall, all scratched in by Wilbur. Your brow furrowed in concern, fingers dancing across the lettering, “what’re you doing?” Phil spoke, his tone flat and serious, looking dead at your son, wings spreading out behind him.
“Wilby?” You asked softly as he slowly turned around, his big brown eyes were wet and wide.
“Mom…” He whispered, “I didn’t want…” Wilbur looked away from you and grit his teeth, “Welcome to L’manburg. Sorry, you have to see it like this, war-torn and broken. I wanted you to see it in its prime, a shame you didn’t visit sooner.”
“Wilbur, don’t do this,” Phil said watching his son look longingly at the button in the middle of the wall, almost with longing. “This is your country, it can be fixed. Things can be rebuilt, it’s where you raised your son,” Phil continued his entire body tense and nervous he was too aware of the sword on Wilbur’s hip. Phil reached out his hand as you walked towards Wilbur,
“Baby boy…” You whispered tenderly, vines slowly growing out of the cracks in the floor. “Don’t do this I only just got you back, please think about what you’re doing.” Wilbur’s brow furrowed watching you smile softly holding out your arm, “Everything will be alright I promise you. We can help you.” He let out a wet laugh running a hand through his brown curls, his pointed ears visible.
“It’s not the same nation anymore. There was a special place where people could go but it’s not there. It’s no longer the nation it once was Mom.”
“It is there. You've just- You've just won it back, Wil!” Phil spoke up in opposition to his son.
“MOM, Dad, I’m ALWAYS SO CLOSE to pressing this button, Phil! I've BEEN HERE like seven or eight times, I've been here seven or eight times...Phil, I've been here so many times…” All of you jumped a little at the sound of crackling fireworks outside, “They're fighting. They're fighting!” Phil and you glanced at one another, there was a beat of silence.
“And you want to just blow it all up, You fought so hard to get this land back... So hard.” You argued reaching out to cup his cheeks, he melted into your palms, snuggling into them like they were his last lifeline.
“I don't even know if it works anymore, Mom, I don't even know if the button works, I could, I could... press it.”
“Do you really wanna take that risk?” Phil laughed, “There is a lot of TNT potentially connected to that button.”
“Phil... There was a saying, Phil. By a traitor. Once part of L'Manburg. A traitor- I don't know if you've heard of Eret? He had a saying...It was never meant to be!” He tossed his hand back and slammed it against the button, you let out a devastating shriek pulling Wilbur into your arms to try and protect him from the blast. Phil felt pure adrenaline enter his bloodstream as he flew towards you and his son. His wings wrapped around the both of you and you whimpered, some of his feathers caught fire and he squeezed his loved one’s harder. Wilbur meanwhile let out a roaring cry “MY L'MANBURG, PHIL! MY UNFINISHED SYMPHONY, FOREVER UNFINISHED! IF I CAN'T HAVE THIS, NO-ONE CAN, PHIL!”
“Oh, my god…” Phil spoke, his voice quivering with horror, Wilbur looked down at you, hurt and pride swam in his eyes,
“Are you proud of me mama?” He whispered softly as your thumb caressed his cheeks, Phil glanced down at you ignoring the pain in his wing, your eyes were wet but you were still smiling.
It didn’t reach your eyes.
“I’ll always be proud of you Wilbur. I’m your mother, and I love you, I’ll always love you.” He let out a little cry, you were so genuine with him, your love was smothering him. Wilbur looked up at his father and grabbed his wrist,
“Kill me, Phil. Phil, kill me, Phil kill me!” Wilbur broke away from his hold and tossed his sword Phil’s way. Phil caught it in his arms the lines in his forehead creasing with worry, “Phil, stab me with the sword, murder me now, kill me! Killza, Killza, do it! Kill me, Phil! Murder me! Look, they all want you to! Do it, Phil! Kill me! Phil, kill me!”
“I- You're my SON!”
“Wilbur NO! PHIL DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE!” You cried as Wilbur shoved you away from him, your growing distress caused vines to spill into the room, filling it with greenery, nature wanted to protect you.
“No matter what you- dude, no matter what you've done, I can't-” Phil’s voice cracked, his knuckles turning white against the hilt of the blade.
Wilbur slammed his fist against the wall, “Phil, it's- LOOK! LOOK! HOW MUCH WORK WENT INTO THIS, and it's GONE!” He grabbed Phil’s hand and shoved the point of the sword into his chest, “Do it. Do it.”
“PHIL!” You sobbed grabbing onto his other arm, eyes red and puffy, fat tears were running down your pink cheeks.
The man squeezed his eyes tightly, his throat closing up, he couldn’t look at you, he could feel the look of horror that was slowly spreading across your face.
“Phil. I’m begging you we can get him help, I can’t lose him. Not again, not when I’ve only just got him back.” You choked out, “he’s my baby. He’s our baby.” You were clinging to Phil desperately, your smile was gone, he failed you and he failed his own son.
“Do it, Dad.” Wilbur interrupted you, you let out a desperate cry and Wilbur shushed you softly, brushing away your tears. “It’s better this way,” Wilbur leaned down and kissed your forehead, “I love you and I forgive you.” He looked back at Phil and his disintegrating right-wing, guilt ate at him, “It’s time.”
Phil let out a deep breath, jaw tense and he felt you bury your head in his uninjured wing. He ran his sword through his son’s chest, Wilbur fell forward against the blade, he choked on the blood in his mouth, it flowed out of the corners and stained the front of his shirt. Phil felt you move to look but he covered your face with his wing once more, “Don’t look darlin’” He whispered as your sobs only increased, Wilbur slowly died in his arms with a smile on his face that would forever haunt Phil’s nightmares. He stroked Wilbur’s hair as he slowly faded out of existence, three lives completely snuffed out, Phil was part of giving him life and was the one to take his final one. Once Wilbur was gone you crumpled to the floor loud sobs echoing in the chamber, he fell beside you and wrapped you in his arms, you clutched his beanie to your chest.
“It’s alright. It’ll be okay.”
“Okay! Philza Minecraft how the FUCK is this gonna be okay!” You snarled in his arms but he only held you tighter, “Our son...our baby is dead.” You choked holding your hand to your mouth, the vines that had grown started dying feeding off your agony. “He’s gone…” You whimpered letting Phil caress your hair and plant kisses on the top of your head.
“We’ll get through this. I promise you.” He swore up to you cupping your cheeks within his hands, you sniffled a little and gave a small nod of your head. You were drained emotionally and physically, Phil’s heart ached in his chest.
“You’re hurt…”
“I’ll be alright,” He tried to stretch out his wings he flinched as pain shot up the right side of his body. Phil’s wing was charred to bits, you both knew the unspoken truth that he’d never fly like he once did, Wilbur wasn’t the only thing Phil would mourn.
“We need to set up a grave for him. Under the willow tree, I’ll plant yellow flowers. That way he can always be close to us so long as we live there,” You looked up at him eyebrows pinched so tight “Please.”
“You don’t need permission Darlin’.” He whispered to you resting his forehead against your own, “If that’s where you want it that’s where it’ll be.”
“Good.”
Phil slowly helped you to your feet, you weren’t injured, a few cuts and scrapes he took the majority of the damage from the explosion just like he had planned. He hissed as he tried to put pressure on his left ankle, “Fuck me. I’m too young to need a cane.”
“Eh,” You smiled weakly “Wouldn’t say that.”
“Shut the fuck up.” You giggled softly, your laughter significantly improved his mood, even if it was a minuscule adjustment. “We all can’t be as spry as you,”
“What can I say some of us have it and some of us don’t.” You smirked slightly hearing another loud explosion go off in the distance, “the Withers. Technoblade spawned them didn’t he?” Your eyebrows furrowed in thought and Phil gave a little nod,
“Most likely.”
“Our boys, they can’t do anything without explosions can they?” You shakily whispered and Phil couldn’t help but let out a dry laugh,
“Guess so,” He shrugged limply as you slipped Wilbur’s beanie on your head,
“What now?” You looked up at him through wet eyelashes, Phil caressed the back of your head,
“We go home, bury what’s left of Wilbur, and take a look at my wings to assess the damage.” Phil watched you nod numbly against him, “it’ll be a long walk back.” He groaned rubbing his eyes and you rubbed his back soothingly.
“Let me handle that,” You reassured and he raised an eyebrow the both of you moved to leave the structure neither one of you wanted to put up with anyone, you both had lost a son and wanted time to mourn. Plus, it seemed Tommy and Technoblade were busy fighting. Phil watched you with careful eyes allowing himself to lean against one of the trees that survived the explosion. You placed your fingers in your mouth and gently whistled, not only did a crow from a tree flutter by but a wandering horse as well, you really were an animal whisperer. The crow ruffled its feathers and cawed loudly at Phil, he shot the crow a look and flipped it off, meanwhile, you worked your magic taming the horse in a matter of moments. “Come here Crow,” You held as your hand and he fell into it, you helped him onto the horse and he shot you a look,
“I’m not riding on this horse with you walking on foot. Switch with me.” Phil tried to argue but you shushed him,
“You took an explosion to the back. Take a breather, relax, nature helps me heal anyway.” You hummed fondly as he slumped against the horse reluctantly, it took about an hour to get back home, Phil had lost all feeling in his wing and wanted nothing more than to curl up with you and go to sleep. As the looming willow tree came into view Phil heard you sniffle and clutch his son’s beanie on your head,
“(Y/n)?”
“I-I’m alright.” You cleared your throat shaking your head, “Let’s get you looked at before anything else, okay?” Phil too exhausted to argue only nodded limply, you helped him inside and set him down on a chair. “Spread your wings for me,” You commanded, helping him stretch out his wings. He cursed, only feeling pure agony shoot through his right side,
“Ow! Fuck me!”
“Sorry, sorry,” You whispered out tenderly rubbing the base of his left-wing. The mixture of pain and pleasure was foreign but not completely unwelcome. “Oh, Phil…” You trailed off hesitant to touch the damage that was inflicted, “I don’t...I don’t think-” You chewed the bottom of your lip, but Phil got the message, he wasn’t going to be able to fly as he once did, maybe ever again. His flight feathers were singed to hell, completely burned away, not to mention the patchiness of his other feathers. His shoulders slumped forward as he ran a hand down his face, he was exhausted, he felt the coolness on his wing as you spread some antibiotic on the injury. “I’m sorry,” You kissed the back of his neck and he shivered at the feeling. “We’ll bury what we have tomorrow, you need rest.”
“I’ll be fine-”
“Phil, I will force you into bed. Don’t fucking test me right now, I will force you if I have to.” You hissed out glaring daggers at him, he should be threatened but he just felt oddly aroused.
He decided to attribute that to how fucked up he felt today.
Phil allowed you to tuck him into bed as gentle as you were capable of doing, “I’m going to send out some letters. I’ll join you in a little bit.” He felt you remove his hat and run your fingers through his blonde hair, he leaned into your touch like a kitten. As soon as you shut the door, Phil was out like a light.
Phil found out the next day that you had sent a letter out to both Tommy and Technoblade, you wouldn’t specify what you sent but you seemed a bit more relaxed than you had the other day. You both didn’t get a chance to bury what was left of Wilbur until a week later, Phil’s healing process was slower than he could’ve imagined. Phil reluctantly had to use a cane to get around easily, his crows laughed at him but you were also so kind and careful.
You were an angel.
The two of you buried him under the willow tree on the hill where you’d met the other members of your odd family for the first time. Technoblade had shown up at your doorstep holding out a large box inside of it was a stone tombstone inscribed on the tombstone was Wilbur’s name and date of birth and death. It had surprised Phil that the hybrid even agreed to make this for you, but at the same time, he was Phil’s adoptive son and closest friend, he appreciated the gesture nonetheless. Phil had placed Wilbur’s coat and beanie into a box and placed it under the ground. You had kept your promise and had grown little yellow flowers around the site of the burial, and the two parents mourned the loss of their biological son. Technoblade stood close by a hand resting on Phil’s shoulder in hopes to soothe him at least a little bit, Phil would never admit it but he appreciated the gesture.
Little did the three of them know, a small smile spread across a young ghost’s face. He picked at the sleeves of his yellow sweater, maybe he could give both of them some blue sometime to help them heal.
He had a feeling they’d like that idea.

Chapter VIII
“Please Hug Me”
Tumblr media
➼A/N: There's a long written part! Also sorry for the overbearing amount of Cinnamoroll for Y/N in this series, I may have an unhealthy obsession with Cinnamoroll💀 Also Y/N’s wallpaper is no longer an unimpressed Megumi being hugged!

You, who Izana found so easy to approach before, became the person he couldn’t even approach anymore. It didn’t help that whenever you were with your friend group Nobara would always throw a nasty glare at him as well.
As days passed by of you giving him the silent treatment and ignoring him he got angry. He was now constantly in a bad mood and chose to relieve his stress by beating people up. But why? Even with beating these people up, I’m not feeling any happier. The adrenaline I used to get is completely gone. Why can’t I get her out of my mind? He then suddenly felt the same presence he felt the first day you both crossed paths. Why can I still feel her hug from that day? He immediately got up and stopped beating the unfortunate victim in front of him. I’m going crazy, no matter how hard I try she keeps appearing in my head and I keep feeling her warmth.
*Continued Flashback* Y/N’s POV
You were still upset at Izana for blowing up at you and you were scared to face him. You didn’t like being wrongfully accused and plus you don’t like being yelled at. It was frustrating that he wouldn’t listen to you as well. It honestly reminded you of the first conversation you had with him where he was cold and rude, and you didn’t like it one bit.
It was really hard to ignore him because you miss talking to him. Underneath that cold exterior there’s warmth in him. He’s not bad news, just misunderstood. Something brought him to act like this and you wished you could help him. But what good would you be if all he’s going to do is just to push you away?
Every time you see him you just hear “FUCK OFF GODDAMMIT” echoing in your mind and it just automatically ruins your mood. Nobara and Yuji tried their best in cheering you up and it does work until you see Izana randomly. You would see Nobara throwing glares at him and you were appreciative of her doing so but you just wanted to get your mind off him.
One time you weren’t watching where you were going and someone left their backpack on the ground, and as you already know, luck isn’t a word in your dictionary. Instead of falling onto the floor you fell into someone’s arms. “Woah there sweetheart, don’t go falling for me.” You looked up to come face to face with Ran Haitani. You noticed that Izana was right behind him so you quickly muttered out “Thank you, gotta go” and dashed off. What you didn’t notice was Izana clenching his fist and frowning at the interaction between you and Ran.
*Present* 3rd POV
He tried so hard to get you out of his head but his thoughts would always return to you. He reached the conclusion that everything was his fault and that he had to not only apologize to you but make it up to you as well. He finally arrived at the park and noticed you waiting for him on a bench. He slowly and nervously walked towards you. “Hey..” “Hi” You said in return but not even turning around to meet his eyes. Would it hurt you to look at me?
“You know the things you said that day really hurt me. I thought we had a strong trust, but you wouldn’t even listen to me explain. There was nothing going on between Mikey and me.” Before Izana could apologize, you continued talking. “I also have a hard time trusting people, just like you. My so-called friends from middle school always excluded me and talked shit behind my back and for the longest time I only ever had Megumi, he was the only person I could trust. Even in elementary I was the least favorite among my friend group and was always left behind.” You sadly say while hugging your knees and looking at the ground. “I was always slow at eating too and would be ditched by them, Megumi always stayed with me after I was left alone. He was the one who helped me after always being left behind.”
Your current friend group are the only people you let into your life and completely trust. You couldn’t bring yourself to trust others because you were always being left behind. Friendship was just never an easy thing for you, you always had the worst luck and ended up with fake and backstabbing friends. You only had Megumi and after much convincing were you finally able to befriend Nobara and Yuji.
Izana was shocked to hear everything you just said and he felt guilt eating him away. “I am so sorry for saying that to you, I know that everything was my fault and I shouldn’t have lashed out at you. I’m sorry for breaking your trust, I hope that we’ll be able to rebuild that trust and that you’ll forgive me. I know I have a lot of making up to do but just know I am sincerely sorry and really cherish you as my friend.” Now you’re finally looking at Izana. “That’s all I wanted to hear, thank you for apologizing, I’ve missed you” “I’m also sorry for what I said as well, you’re not bad news at all, deep down you’re a good person but you just keep it locked away because of something that happened in the past right?” “Yeah…” “You don’t have to explain if you’re uncomfortable, I’m just glad we sorted out the misunderstanding.” “No, I want to explain” “I was just so clouded by anger because of Mikey that day that I wrongfully took it out on you.” “Ever since I was little I was abandoned by my parents. I thought I had nobody until one day this person showed up claiming they were my older brother. I was so happy to hear that and we spent many days together just having fun. Until I realized that he had a little brother he cared more about, and that little brother was Mikey. Feeling like I was again being left behind and the last priority I grew jealous of Mikey and angry that I wasn’t his first priority. I began to push him away and went back to how things were before. Not long after he passed away from an accident, I swore I would get revenge on Mikey for stealing him away from me. But now I don’t care about revenge anymore, I just want nothing to do with him because in the end we weren’t blood related at all. I just wanted someone to shower me with the love and affection I never got as a child but everyone I ever cared about left me.”
You didn’t expect Izana to let out his emotions and you felt like you grew a stronger bond with him just from this conversation alone. He trusted you to the point where he told you something so personal. “It must’ve been really hard for you to tell me this and I am so grateful that you trust me so much to tell me this. I am so sorry that you had to experience all that throughout your life but haven’t you realized that there are many people who care about you? Kakucho cares about you so much to the point he reached out to me to talk things out with you. Aren’t the Haitani brothers always there to help you out too? They’re always saying great things about you and always willing to do anything for you.” You shyly looked away, “And there’s me, I care a lot about you too. I couldn’t just leave you alone after what Kakucho told me. Plus I like being around you, I missed you a lot these past couple of days. Even though we haven’t known each other for long, I promise you that I’ll always be there for you, I’ll always be here by your side.” “Just so you know, if I ever had to pick between you and Mikey, I would choose you in a heartbeat.” You turn around to look at Izana just to see tears falling from his eyes. “Oh my gosh I’m so sorry Izana, did I say something wrong?” You were starting to freak out “Do you want me to stop talking? Or should I just leave? Or-” You were cut off by Izana “Please hug me.”
You stood up and wrapped your arms around his back. You felt him wrapping his hands around your waist and you squeezed him a little to try to comfort him. “Let’s just stay like this for a while” he feels you nod against his shoulder. Your warmth enveloping his form brought him comfort and he felt all the previous weight on his shoulder gone. Having you back in his life is already making him happier. He’ll never let you go again.

“Please, please, please. I have to stay here for like 3 more hours and I already called the babysitter and she can’t stay longer. Just put on a movie and I promise she won’t cause any trouble.” your friend basically begged you from the other side of the phone.
“It’s not that I’m worried about taking care of her, I love spending time with her, but I’m in the middle of a date Lili.” you told her, turning your head to look at Mat who was sitting back on your table. He sent a small smirk your way, probably because he saw your furrowed brows.
“Shit I forgot that was today.” There was a long silence but you knew what was coming next. “Can’t you leave early? I know I’m asking a lot and I promise I’ll make it up to you.” You could sense the desperation in her tone and you knew she wouldn’t be asking this if it wasn’t really the only option, so there wasn’t much to think about. Even if it meant leaving Mat not even halfway into the date, you had to do it.
“Ok, sure tell the nanny I’ll be there in 15.” you said and heard Lili let out a deep sigh making you smile. Being a single mom wasn’t easy and if you could help your friend in any way you most surely would.
“You are the best. Seriously. Best human being in existence.”
“I know, I know. Now get back to work before they fire you.”
“Love you, bye.”
“Love you too.”
Mat watched you talk on the phone, intrigued but trying not to be noisy. It was clear to see you were in distress and that caused him to worry. Soon you were making you way back to the table. He felt a bit of deja vu seeing you walk to the table like you had done earlier that night when you arrived at the restaurant, gorgeous as ever, taking his breath away. Only that now instead of that beautiful smiled that would appear whenever you looked at him, you had a concerned look on your face, which only made him worry more. You were just trying to come up with a way of telling him you had to leave right now without it sounding like a lame excuse to dip.
“Is everything okay?” he asked as soon as you were next to him.
“Yeah, just a little change of plans.” you started to say, without taking your seat and grabbing your coat from behind it. “I have to leave, like right now.”
“What happened?” He was genuinely preoccupied which warmed your heart.
“Remember my friend Lili? The one that has a daughter of 5?” you asked and he nodded. You had told him about her on one of your first dates some weeks ago. “There was some problem at her office, she has to stay longer and the girl that babysits for her can’t stay the extra hours so she called me to see if I could go take care of little Amy...”
“And you said yes.” he finished the sentence for you.
“Yes. I’m sorry. I promise I’m not making this up.” you were quick to add making him chuckle. “I really was enjoying this but she’s my best friend and Amy is like a niece. I can’t not help her.”
“Don’t worry I totally get it. We can raincheck, no big deal.” he said grabbing your hand in a reassuring manner. “Do you have a ride?”
“No, but I’ll order an uber-”
“Don’t. I’ll give you a ride.” he quickly said standing up, not letting go of your hand.
“You really don’t have to-”
“I’ll take every extra bit of time I can get with you miss.” Your cheeks turned red at his comment and he smiled down at you, loving the effect he had on you.
After making your way to the counter and failing to convince Mat to split the check for the food you weren’t even able to finish, you walked to his car hand in hand.
On the ride low music played in the background as you made conversation and Mat took advantage of every single red light to sneak a kiss or two. However the ride was shorter than you would have wanted it, in a couple minutes you were in front of Lili’s house.
“I’ll walk you to the door.” he said taking off his seat belt. You open your mouth ready to tell him he didn’t have to, but before you could Mat added: “Don’t even try to stop me, every minute counts, remember?” He leaned in to give you a final peck on the lips and then rapidly left the car to go around and open the door for you.
“Such a gentleman.” you joked taking the hand he was offering.
“I try my best.”
He closed the door behind you and gently moved your hand so it would be wrapped around his arm as you walked up to the door. Once there you rang the bell and within the second the door was opening showing you a really stressed teenager.
“Hi you must be Y/N, right?” she asked, already putting on her coat and grabbing her backpack. You nodded. “Thank you for rushing here. I really wish I could stay but I have another kid I have to babysit. Please tell Lili I’m so sorry-”
“Don’t worry she gets it.” you tried to calm her down.
“Amy is in the living room-” she started to say only to be interrupted by the 5 year old suddenly appearing down the hallway. Her eyes went wide and she smiled as she ran down the hall screaming your name.
“Aunty Y/N!” she screamed before jumping into your arms. You couldn’t help but laugh, wrapping your arms around her and positioning her on your side, resting her weight on your hip. Mat was beaming beside you, eyes full of adoration as he watched the sweet exchange.
“How’s my favorite niece doing?”
“I’m your only niece.” she remarked making you and Mat laugh once again.
“You’re getting too smart.” you joked poking her side to make her giggle.
“She already ate but there’s some food on the fridge if you get hungry, and we were about to watch Frozen 2.” the babysitter said as she crossed the door, clearly on a rush to leave.
“Wait do you have a ride or something to get to your next house? It’s already too late to be walking outside alone. I can give you a ride if you need.” Mat said before the girl could leave. You looked at him, a bit surprised by his words but at the same time not at all since you knew how gentlemanly he could get. How he could go from behaving like a kid to an adult within a second still amazed you.
“Oh don’t worry I have my car, but thanks!” she replied, pulling out the keys to the car. “Bye Amy, see you tomorrow.” she added waving to the little girl.
“Bye!” Amy replied waving back to her. The three of you watched making sure the girl got back to get her car safely and once she was gone you closed the door and turned to look at Mat.
“That was such a dad thing to do considering she’s probably not that much younger than us” you teased him.
“I was being polite.”
“I know. I loved it.” you said giving him a wink and made your way to the living room before he could respond.
He watched you walk down the hall with the little girl in your arms and had to tell himself it was way too early in your relationship to start fantasizing about what your kids would look like, but that wasn’t enough to stop him from doing it.
“So we’re watching Frozen 2?” you asked Amy as you placed her on the couch and sat beside her.
“Who is he?” she asked referring to Mat, completely ignoring your question. You surely weren’t about to explain to a 5 year old the concept of dating and boyfriends. Plus you and Mat hadn’t talked about where your relationship stood, so you actually had to discover that yourself before telling the little girl. But as you looked for the right words Mat appeared on the living room and answered.
“I’m Mat. I’m a friend of your aunt.” he said followed by his best smile, but you could tell he was a bit nervous meeting the kid. Especially because he knew kids had no filter whatsoever so she was gonna say whatever came to her mind. He just hoped it was something good.
Amy looked him up and down, sword of examining him and Mat could have sworn he hadn’t felt that judged ever since his fitness test at the scouting years ago. You tried to hold in the giggles as you watched the grown man standing a bit awkwardly in front of you, being extremely intimidated by a 5 year old. Amy then scooted close to you and lifted herself on her knees putting her hands around her mouth and reaching your year to tell you a secret. Nevertheless she was still a loud young kid so what intended to sound like a whisper ended up being loud enough for anyone to hear.
“Is he the cute hockey player you and mom talked about?” she asked and your eyes went wide and face red. You looked at Amy surprised she had just said that and then looked at Mat, who was looking away pretending not to have heard that but the wicked smile on his face said he had.
“We really have to start being more careful with what we say around you.” you jokingly reprimanded her making her giggle. “But yes he is.”
Your eyes went to Mat after saying that, wanting to see his reaction. Proud smile and puffed out chest, it was clear to see he liked hearing that. Mat was a man that thrived on praise, everyone knew that, but he was happy just hearing that you talked about him with your friend. It made him feel important, like he was part of your life and he loved it. He had talked about you to everyone who was willing to hear really, he actually couldn’t shut up about you sometimes and that resulted in his friends teasing him constantly, but he didn’t care. All he cared about was that apparently you were as into the relationship as he was, that couldn’t make him happier.
Amy nodded and then seemed to think about something serious for a moment before turning back to Mat.
“Are you going to watch Frozen 2 with us?” she simply asked like it was the most casual thing ever. You started panicking a bit, heart raising on your chest. This was the first time Mat met someone from your life, it didn’t matter if it was a 5 year old girl who didn’t really understand what was going on. You didn’t want to rush things only to end up scaring him away like it had happened with other guys you’d dated.
“Well Amy, Mat has other things-” you started to explain to her, trying to get out of what could turn out to be a really awkward moment.
“If you aunty is okay with it, then sure I’d love to watch Frozen 2 with you.” he replied with the sweetest grin in his face, but you still feared he just felt some kind of obligation to stay because Amy was the one asking.
“That’s sweet Mat but you really don’t have to. I’m sure there are thousand things you’d like to do rather than watching a kids movie.”
“First of all, Frozen 2 rocks, I wanna watch it. Secondly for the third time tonight, everything I’m doing is because I want to not because I feel like I have to.” he reassured you, washing away once and for all any insecurity left in you. You smiled at him, biting your bottom lips in disbelief, wondering how you had gotten so lucky.
“Then I guess Mat is staying for movie night.” you told Amy and she stood on the couch and started clapping. “But I have to warn you, Mat eats all the popcorn.”
“That’s not true!” he replied, taking his hand to his chest in pretended offense.
“Ok Mat and I will go make some popcorn and you Amy go get your stuffed animals because we can’t watch a movie without them, right?” you said and Amy was instantly rushed to her room making both of you chuckle.
You stood up and grabbed Mats hand, dragging him across the house to the kitchen.
“Is Lili going to be fine with this? You know, she doesn’t know me and I’m hanging around her daughter, I don’t want you to get in any trouble.” Mat said leaning against the isle as you walked around the kitchen grabbing everything you needed for the popcorn.
“I’m like her second mother, Lili trusts me and I trust you to be around Amy so there won’t be any problem.” you told him as you put the bag on the microwave. Those words meant more to Mat that you would have guessed, you didn’t noticed but his cheeks went a bit red and he couldn't contain his smile. He couldn’t understand why you letting him into your life had such and effect on him, and he couldn’t quite put a name yet to the bubbling feeling you caused on him, but he would later realize it was love.
Soon you felt a pair of arms wrapping around your waist and his chest pressing against your back as he rested his chin in your shoulder.
“Thank you, it really means a lot.” he whispered into your ear, squeezing you a little. You knew the action was supposed to be cute, but his hot breath against your skin sent shivers down your spine.
“Could you be any more perfect?” you said turning around in his embrace to face him after turning on the microwave, being met with his all too familiar smug smile that made you roll your eyes and chuckle at the same time. He was about to reply something cocky surely, but you decided to erase that smile of his with a kiss.
You placed your arms around his neck, bringing him closer, as his hands stayed firmly in your waist. His lips fitted with yours in perfect rhythm, like it was meant to be. You wanted to deepen the kiss so badly but a voice inside your head kept on reminding you there was a really energetic, curious little girl around the house that run into the kitchen any second from now. And just as you were thinking that you heard her.
“I’m ready!” her voice traveled around the house from the living room to the kitchen, making you and Mat instantly stop kissing. There was a moment of silence and you looked at each other before you broke out in laughter.
“That’s our cue.” you said freeing yourself from Mat’s embrace. Then you opened the microwave to get the popcorn out as Mat handed you the bowl you had set aside earlier. As soon as you put the popcorn in said bowl Mat’s hand was reaching to grab some.
“Don’t.” You jokingly slapped his hand which made him look at you with furrowed brows. “It’s still hot, you’ll burn yourself.”
“I already kissed you and I’m fine so...” he said with the cheekiest smile, making you roll your eyes at the cheesy comment. Then grabbed some quickly taking it to his mouth, only to start groaning in pain one second later.
“I told you it was hot Mathew. I thought I’d be babysitting one 5-year-old today, not two.”
“I didn’t think it would be that hot-” he started to defend himself but was cut off.
“When are you coming?!” Amy shouted again.
“We’re going! We’re going!” you replied between giggles, grabbing the bowl with one hand and Mat with the other and making you way back to the living room.
When you made it to the room you found 2 stuffed animals carefully placed in the couch facing the tv and Amy next to them wrapped around the Frozen blanket you had gifted her not too long ago.
“I see you have everything ready.” you said placing the bowl on the coffee table.
“Mat sits next Sammy and Eddie.” she pointed out signaling Mat to sit between a stuffed dolphin and a cat, which he instantly did. “And aunty sits with Eddie and me.”
You bit your lip trying to hold in your laughter as you took your seat between your niece and the stuffed cat she had obviously placed there intentionally so you wouldn’t be next to Mat. But the moment he looked at you lifting his eyebrows in amusement a giggle escaped your lips.
“What’s funny?” Amy asked watching as the two of you exchanged looks.
“Nothing, nothing. Let’s watch the movie.” you replied, grabbing the control and starting the movie. Amy snuggled to your side and you could feel Mat’s arm behind your head as he stretched it on the back of the couch.
Within 20 minutes Amy was already asleep with her head in your chest and your left arm wrapped around her holding her close. That’s when you decided to put away the stuffed cat that served as a barrier. Mat looked at you confused, not wanting to do anything that could make the little girl dislike him.
“She’s asleep.” you whispered to him, he had been too focused on the movie to notice. “Sorry about Eddie the cat, she can be a little territorial.” you explained making Mat smile.
You tapped the new empty seat next to you signaling him to move closer and Mat scooted over to your side, placing his arm around you as you gently nestled into his side, trying not to wake Amy up.
“And sorry about tonight, I know this isn’t what you had planed.” you said turning you head to face him.
“Stop apologizing Y/N. I have you by my side, that’s all I need.” he told you and even though his face was barely visible, poorly lit only by the light emitted by the tv, you could see a certain spark in his eyes that showed you how honest he was being. “Also this movie is actually great.” he added, making you laugh.
“You’re earning a lot of points tonight Barzal.” you said stretching your neck to kiss him briefly before cuddling back to his side. He then placed a kiss on the top of your head and went back to watch the movie, which he was clearly enjoying.
Lili arrived at her house over an hour later. She wasn’t surprised when she opened the door to a completely silent house, expecting you to have put Amy to bed by then. However she was surprised when she walked into her living room only to find the three of you asleep on the couch.
Amy had changed position and now was laying on the couch, still wrapped in her blanket, with her head laying on your lap as your arm was placed over her. Mat and you hadn’t moved that much, his arm still wrapped around your shoulders and your head on his chest, but now his head was resting on top of yours, moving your hair a bit with every deep breath he took.
Lili smiled to herself as he took in the scene. This was actually the first time she had seen Mat in person, but she was not mad at all, she actually found it quite cute.
She carefully lifted her daughter in her arms, trying not to wake neither of you up. Amy’s arms instantly wrapped around her neck as she watched you unconsciously snuggle further into Mat’s chest now that Amy had left your side.
Needless to say you and Mat woke up the next morning really confused, not even remembering falling asleep the night before, and with terrible neck pain, but you woke up next to each other which was enough to make it a good morning.
