King of Second Chances
DomesticAvengers!Loki x Reader
Genre/Rating: tooth-rotting fluff with best friends to lovers
Description: Contrary to popular belief, Loki does have friends... just not on Asgard. Or Midgard. Except one.
Tumblr media
After the battle of New York, Frigga managed to convince Odin one last time to have mercy on his adoptive son Loki who recently found that out in his defense but in no way can explain his revenge hostile attempted takeover of Midgard aka Earth. Odin decided that if some time on Earth managed to teach Thor the lesson he needed to learn to be worthy of the hammer, then Earth should be able to do the same for Loki.
So until he proves that he's not the evil ego-maniac that's co-dependent on the lie his father told him about being destined for greatness when he was a peace offer child, Loki is to stay on Earth.
Specifically in Avengers Tower under close surveillance.
None of the team especially Clint and Natasha wanted him there but they couldn't trust him living on his own with some of his magic still intact. So down the hall from Thor's room soon became Loki's room and they all lived happily ever after. Sort of
"Loki did you eat my Poptarts?"
"And why would I eat those disgusting sugar-coated sandwiches?'
"Because you know I like them?"
"Out" Thor suddenly falls through a hole Loki created sending him back to his room.
Loki looked up at the vents to make sure Clint wasn't in them before relaxing back in his bed with the book before he was once again interrupted by a knock on his door. He rolls his eyes begrudgingly before swinging the door open with a wave of his hand.
"Hey, Loki..."
"Yes, Y/N," Loki says not caring to lift his head away from his book.
"Can I hide my pop tarts in here? Thor keeps eating them."
"And why would I do that?"
"Because I know you don't like them so Thor won't look for them here." Unable to argue with that, Loki shrugged.
"Very well. Hide them here"
"Yes!" you jumped onto his bed and hugged him tightly to you shocking the magical entity to his core.
"Thank you, Loki," you shock him again by giving him a light kiss on the cheek.
".... You're welcome"
This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
Two years has gone by since then and while Loki is still not welcome back in Asgard he has regained almost all of his magical abilities, has been caught trying to go back twice, and with Frigga's help made his room in Avengers tower look almost identical to his chambers in the palace. One would say that he's gotten comfortable on Earth.
Loki still hides your Pop-Tarts in his room and several other things you don't want the team to see despite your room being one floor below his. The only ones who dare go in his room are you and sometimes Thor but he uses an illusion spell to make your stuff look like his so there is no suspense. You could have asked him to do that for your room but having some of your things in his room gives you the excuse to see him and everybody knows that. Except Loki of course.
After another successful mission with Natasha and her sister that she never mentioned until now you were back in Avengers Tower and you couldn't wait to tell your bestie all about it.
"LOKI!!!!" You burst through his door to find a towel around his waist and hair. His chest still had some water dripping down to a place that you didn't realize you'd want to see until now. Shit you're staring
"Um, I'll come back" You quickly closed the door and headed straight to the elevator. If anyone saw how you repeatedly pushed the close doors button they'd think you insane. You quickly went into your own room and let out the breath you had been holding only to open your eyes to-
"You know you were much cuter when you were afraid to knock on my door." You jumped holding your hand to your chest wishing your heart could just calm down but the man you just ran away from clearly transported to your room.
"I see you gained more of your magic back."
"One of my favorite tricks." Loki held up a bag of sweets. He patted the spot next to him on your bed and it was like you never left. You happily jumped into his arms. Let the celebration begin.
“So Agent Romanoff wasn’t alone before Barton came around. Interesting. Hit me” He opened his mouth and you gave him another caramel candy. Something you like to do when debriefing your missions with him is to eat sweets and comb his hair. He’ll never admit it but hearing your voice with your hands massaging his scalp made him feel like a King.
“I know right?! I can’t believe she’s been hiding that from us this whole time. I thought we’d run out of secrets in Avengers Tower by now. What about you?”
“Mm that feels nice” he whispered to himself not paying attention. You took a curl of his and wrapped it around your finger before yanking harder than usual.
“Ow!” He looked up at you
“Now that I have your attention what did you do while I was gone?” You held up your brush threateningly at him. Chuckling he laid his head back down in your lap closing his eyes without any sign of fear.
“I read, painted, slept, squabbled with my oaf of a brother, the usual.”
“Do you ever think the two of you will be as close as you were back then?”
“I’m not sure. I did try to kill him after all but he does try. I’ll give him that.”
“You tried to kill me too” You mumbled
“You’re different.”
“How different?” You continue brushing his hair slowly. Like a cat he purrs.
“You are… kind in a way that’s admirable and naive yet you hunt people for a living. It’s confusing.” You gently take his head in your hands staring right into his emerald green eyes.
“Are you saying I should consider a new career path?”
“I’m saying you are the most dangerous being in the nine realms.” He whispered.
“And your best friend” You whispered back coming a little closer.
“My only friend” The two of you smile at each other.
“Jarvis please tell me you got that” The two of you sat up quickly embarrassed that you’d been caught by Tony in what would look like two lovers staring into each others eyes even though you were nothing more than friends. Right? Without a thought you chased Tony all around the tower with your brush desperately trying to get that footage of the two of you.
Unsure of when it started Loki realized that the beautiful friendship that once was had blossomed into something else entirely. He was bound to mess it up but he knew you’d give him a second chance. He is the king of those after all and you are worth all the chances he can get.
A/N: Happy Loki day! I was supposed to post this the other day but I didn’t know what I wanted to write yet. Thanks for your patience. There’s more to come!

Two broken make a whole; chapter 5
Series masterlist Main masterlist
What should I say, it has been a while. An eternity. But I finished this chapter finally. Took me a sec to even remember how all this works-
I would advice to re-visit chapter 4 before reading this one, I had to do as well.
Thanks to everybody sticking around 💜 This one's a bit of a wild and chaotic one. I just hope it doesnt come across as rushed.
This is not proof read so sorry for any errors.
Warnings: talks of abuse and rape, reader struggling with facing her fears, overthinking, anxiety
Wordcount: ~2150
Tumblr media
After a very long shower, watching your comfort show for the millionth time and sleeping in as long as possible, you left the comfort of you own four walls.
Admittedly, you still felt like shit.
Sad, reminded of everything you tried to leave behind, ashamed and just utterly overwhelmed. Not to mention embarrassed. Had it been Nat, Clint, hell even Tony that witnessed it all, it would only be half as bad. But luck, per usual, was not on your side.
Tumblr media
The review of yesterdays mission went differently than you thought. Your emotional outburst wasnt even mentioned, the thing that actually took up most of the meeting was Loki and Thors absence.
"Ok guys. I'm really starting to worry now. What if they ran?", Cap sighs. "It surely wouldnt look good when mentioned to Fury, thats for sure.", Nat says bluntly. Tony leans back in his seat with a cocky but sour expression, "Would it be too soon for an 'I told you so!'?". "Oh come on, do you really have no faith in them? There is no reason why they'd have to run after that mission, THEY," you emphasize, "made no mistakes. I'm sure they will be back soon.", you try to defend them even though you start to worry yourself. "You do know who we are talking about, right?", Clint raises one sceptical eyebrow.
The meeting was thankfully cut short. Without the brothers, you couldn't possibly remember everything that went down, especially since you were zoned out though most of the mission. It made no sense to continue without them.
Just as you threw yourself on the sofa with some pasta, you heard the elevator ding and the booming voice of Thor. "Hello there Y/n. How are you feeling?", Thor greets you with a hug. He smells odd, like an old basement, smoke and dust. Sceptically, you hug him back. "Welcome back. I'm feeling much better thank you. I think you should speak to Cap though. Your solo operation has caused quite the drama.", you grin, patting his shoulder. Thor sighs and turns back around to the elevator, "Norns, they really have no trust in me. I will speak to them, thank you Meddy."
Meanwhile Loki sat down on the sofa eyeing your food. You now eye him eyeing your food. And suddenly your eyes meet as his green ones snap up at yours. You hold his gaze, "If you want you can take some pasta you know. I bet your hungry after being gone that long.". He scoffs, "Correct. A thank you would be in order.".
He must be shitting you, right?!
"Excuse me, what? What am I surpossed to thank you for? Your solo trip? Ive had to listen to the others complain all day because of that!", you agressively fork your pasta. "Yes, precisely, it was to help you! Hel if Shield knew about it I'd rot in a cell for all of eternity!", his voice raises and his arms cross. "Ok, rewind. Lets start over. Where were you and what did you two do?", you stop eating and pause your show. "And why should I tell you?", Loki teases. You scoff, "So I know what I am surpossed to thank you for of course." So he started to explain.
"After Thor and I brought you to the tower, we did not hand that imbecile over to Shield or any other authorities. We took matters into our own hands.", he says with a proud smirk. "What did you- did you kill him?", you ask nervously. "Ultimately yes, but do you remember for how long we were gone?" Oh god. Oh fuck. "Ages, what like 16 hours? The others were getting nervous you somehow escaped Thor or something.", you nervously bounce your leg. "As expected... But no actually, we took our time to extract every bit of information regarding the weapons from him. Lets just say healing is a big asset in torture.", his eyes glimmer bright green as his grin becomes almost devilish. "I dont think I understand...", or more like, dont want to. "We hurt him as badly as we wanted, he couldnt die. I just healed him any time he came close.", he states flatly. "Oh my god-", your breath catches in your throat. "You're welcome. So, dont worry about him anymore and- This stays between us, officially we had to kill him when we first arrived at the warehouse." "Noted."
An awkward silence fell over the room when you sigh heavily, "Look, I am deeply ashamed over my emotional outburst yesterday. Could we maybe just forget about it? Please?". His eyes flutter as he gives you a once over, then the faintest of smiles crosses his lips, "I dont even know what you are talking about, Agent.". Did my nether regions just clench-
Oh lord-
Your cheeks blush as you clear your throat and nod, "Very well, thank you.".
Tumblr media
After that, the problem got solved with Thor telling the team they just followed a lead on a location possibly holding even more weapons. And that wasnt even a lie since they did destroy the remaining weapons they found out about in the torture. So the weeks went on.
Loki became kind of weird. Well, weird for Loki. He started talking to you, randomly and not just in necessary situations. Never anything personal really, but still. But today really topped it all off.
You went to the common room to grab some cold water after your training but insted were greeted with the dark haired god sitting on the sofa, reading an ancient looking book.
"So, Medusa, interesting. I have to admit, I have been thinking what could be linked to such an extraordinary name. There has to be a story behind it.", Loki asks, weirdly curious all of a sudden. You take a few blinks to realize he actually asked you about something personal. "Uh, I cant tell you.", you say a bit too distracted by the tight shirt he is wearing. He tilts his head, raven locks revealing his neck, "Oh do tell darling.". D-darling? You feel heat rising to your cheeks, beeing an assasin you usually dont get nice pet names from others. And coming from Loki? You got butterflies from only that. Oh, youre in trouble...
You shake your head, "No, I mean I really cant tell you, I would if I could.". Now you just fired up his curiousity even more. Damn. That was not your intention but forming words, let alone logical sentences, isnt that easy right now. He sits up, propping his elbows on his thighs, brows tightly knitted trying to figure out what you mean. You planned on going to your room, but you wont walk away from the god of mischief asking you something other than work related. You sit down too, grabbing a pillow from the couch. "Would you please be so kind and elaborate a bit further.", he looks over to you with his brows still furrowed. You sigh, a little louder than you intended, "It is rather complicated I guess. I was captured by Hydra. As you may know, they have inhumane and horrible ways to make people complay. They erased my memorie, wiped us, as my fellow captured and I used to say. I just know that I was 16 when it started, was an assasin pre hydra, my real name is y/n l/n and my cover name Medusa. Those are the informations I have.", you explain as shortly as you can.
His gaze over you shifts a little, its an expression you have never seen before. Not on him at least. He looks as if he has empathy for you?
"That is a rather troublesome past, I appreciate you telling me. However, I still have one more question if you dont mind." Now you furrow your brows, what is there left unanswered? You quickly cover your confusion. Force of habit.
"Oh well, it is what it is. What else do you want to know?", you play cool but lose your shit internally. He nods, "I presume you have not just made that name up, so if there is, I would like to ask the backstory to the name itself." Oh, well thats innocent enough. Still your heart races. Its a subject you spent many sleepless nights over. A weak spot. You know damn well what Medusa is a symbol for, but you dont know if that was your Inspiration too.
"Oh, I see, of course you dont know about that myth. Well, it is really hard to explain since there are a lot of other events that led up to her story. You like to read, right?", you ask him with a shy smile. Maybe you can make him research it on his own. Save yourself the heartache of overthinking again. He raised his brows in a playful manner, holding up the book in his hand, "I would say 'like' is an understatement, but yes. I do.". You huff out a laugh, "Then you probably found the library already. Look for books on greek mythology. My summary would lack a lot of important context." "I have a lot of time on my hands, how about both? Tell me roughly and I will read up on it later.", he smiles sheepishly. It seems luck is not on your side today, so you give a small nod and get it over with.
"There are many versions of her story. However the one I think is my Inspiration, which is not the original but also is mentioned in a few books, is Medusa beeing a priestress to Athena, the goddess of wisdom and battle. The women serving her had to remain virgins and give their life to her. Because of Medusas beauty, the god of sea, Poseidon, took interest in her. Athena and Poseidon were rivals, so he used Medusa to get back at Athena. He humiliated Athena by raping Medusa on the steps of her temple.", you stopped for a second to swallow the lump forming in your throat. "That is a rather gruesome story.", Loki mumbles, not having expected for the story to get that dark, that quickly. You swallow your fears and continue quickly. "Oh yes, but its not over. Poseidon left his victim on the steps, now any normal thinking beeing would expect for Athena to help Medusa." He nods. "That was however not the case, Medusa got cursed by Athena and banished to a far away island. She now looked like an abomination, eyes of stone, chicken legs, metal wings and hair made of snakes. Any beeing who would look upon her would turn to stone. Men traveled the island, chasing and trying to kill her. At some point, her fear turned to anger, she took her revenge on all the men that tried to harm her, turning them to stone. The only way those men could be freed was if Perseus, son of Zeus, beheaded her. As that day came, her blood gave birth to Pegasus, the winged horse, and Chrysaor. Athena used Medusas head as a trophy on her shield, protecting against her enemies. The rest of medusas body was layed to rest in the underworld."
You shifted into story telling mode, like you did when you looked after Clints kids once.
"That... You mortals sure have a lot of fantasy for storys like this. Do you think-", he stops, looking up at you, knowing exactly what he is trying to ask. The universe really hates you, your throat closing from surpressing the feeling daring to take over. "That is the question Ive had for years now. I dont know. I dont know if I want to know. I guess it would make sense if I... sympathized with that character. God, I dont know.", you exhaled deeply, gathering yourself. Its hard to talk about this topic, the uncertenty has been eating away at you ever since you rediscovered the story of Medusa. "You do not know, so it is best not to worry. It wont do any good either way. Is this, greek I think you said, mythology an interest of yours?" "Kind of, yes. I have read a lot about it since researching about my name, its really interesting. Confusing sometimes, but very capturing. I suggest you read about Pandora too, its a very fascinating story. Another one is the story of Icarus.", you smile, knowing he purposefully changed the subject. But you are unspeakably grateful he did. "Sounds promising, thank you for the suggestions.", he smiles warmly. You smile and slowly get up. "I have a date with my bed now, I'm exhausted. Have fun reading." "Pleasent dreams, Y/N.", he gives you a nod.
You bite your cheek as you turn around and leave the room. Your knees weak and hands shaky.
You just dont know if you feel this way because of the uncomfortable topic or because of who you were speaking to. All you know is that your in for a ride.
You just know it.

Reread the Hydra Cap AU and I really enjoyed it once more; it fucks supremely. I know that you are not a huge Tony Stark fan, and that’s legit, and if he wasn’t a major player in that hypothetical fic, it would make sense, BUT. I do really enjoy what you’ve set up for him in the concept writing. What’s he got going for him without his Vast Fortune, yknow? Obviously, the trope of the genius inventor working his way up from nothing is problematic and a bit silly, but. Well-executed it’s fun, yknow
Thank you! I really do think about this one daily, though there are a couple of reasons it hasn't gone beyond concept writing. Chief among which is that it doesn't have a plot, just set-up, and part of that set-up involves running out all the events of Phase 1. (The sticking point has actually been Thor, since so many of the events of that movie are driven by factors that wouldn't be affected by the HYDRA-SHIELD changeup, but have pretty drastic consequences further down the line; if Loki and the Chitauri are still invading in this AU, it completely changes the dynamics and plot of the story. If they're not, then SHIELDRA's response back in Thor has to explain why not.) (And the way my brain works I can't just ignore it because it's more convenient.)
Tony was always intended to be a main character in the story (or maybe a secondary character -- Yonder level of involvement, anyway, not Horizon level), since part of the conceit was setting up the Avengers in secret. The AU's divergence point is back in IM1, during the Tony-Obadiah fight at the end of the film, with Tony and Pepper believed killed when the building collapsed. (Possibly Obadiah did not get fried by the arc reactor overloading? Specifics aren't important.) SHIELD -- which was still run by Fury at this point -- pulled Tony and Pepper out of the rubble, but Obadiah had already rushed a funeral and completed his takeover of the company. While Tony and Pepper were recovering, Obadiah sold the prototype of his version of the suits -- the Chessmen suits -- to Alexander Pierce (a.k.a. to Hydra), which tipped Fury off and started him digging, tipping Pierce off and resulting in an attempted assassination and a successful hostile takeover of SHIELD. Basically the SHIELD on SHIELD violence from CATWS but the bad guys won.
Tony was out of the fight the whole time, since he was still recovering from having a building dropped on him, but was at Fury's secret base when he and the SHIELD loyalists limped back after the end of that fight. (The named ones are Clint Barton, Maria Hill, and Phil Coulson, but it was a pretty significant number of survivors; other loyalists, including Natasha and Sharon Carter, remained undercover at SHIELD/HYDRA.) Since then Tony's been with realSHIELD (and has upgraded the Iron Man suit); at some point he was able to get in touch with Rhodey, who's still with the USAF and is still technically the liaison to Stark/Stane Industries, now doing the spy thing. Tony built him the War Machine suit but I don't think he's had a chance to wear it yet. I don't know exactly what he would be doing in this hypothetical story, but he would be in it, especially for a rematch with Iron Monger and the Chessmen suits. He's with realSHIELD, so he's not exactly working himself up from nothing in this scenario. It would still be a Steve and Natasha focused story, but he's there.
As for whether or not I'm a Tony fan -- I actually am; he is not my favorite character in the MCU, but he is a character I do really like. It is just not super obvious in my writing because most of my fic has set been set post-CACW and because I mostly write with a Steve and Natasha focus, Tony does not come out well from their POVs at this point in time. I know that the fandom is really polarized on the team Iron Man vs. team Cap issue; it is one of the few times when I have been stopped IRL by a stranger over Marvel. (It is the one time I've seen Marvel fen act like SW fen in terms of taking sides in a fight I wasn't aware I was having.) Within the CACW to Endgame timeline there's not really any way to write any of the characters involved without having it come off as taking sides and that ends up reflecting back as "the author does not like either Steve or Tony," which is not true; I write the characters like I see them in the films and during this timeline they are portrayed by the PTB as being EXTREMELY polarized towards each other. I'm not a hack; if I'm writing him at a different point in time, I'm not going to write him the same way I do during the IW timeline. If/when I go back to Reaches he'll be a viewpoint character there and that'll be Avengers!Tony.

For the first time since moving into the Avengers tower there was absolutely nobody around. Tony was spending a week away with pepper, Thor was off world, Bruce was at a science convention and both clint and nat were away. Steve didn’t know where and when he asked they told him it was confidential.
It didn’t bother Steve though because it meant you and him had an entire week to yourselves. The first night to alone the two of you got comfy in the cinema room for a movie night.
“So what are you thinking? A horror movie?” You smirk earning a glare from Steve.
“No, anything but horror” Steve says as you laugh.
It was a well known fact between the two of you that Steve hated horror movies. Steve wasn’t sure what it was about them but he just hated them, always has probably always will. He thought that maybe being in the modern world would make it easier, that they’d be less scary but after watching Saw with you he refused to watch another.
“Even though it’s Halloween in a couple weeks?” You smirk earning another glare from Steve “okay okay, we’ll watch disney instead” you chuckle.
“Thank you” Steve sighed as you put the movie on and pulled you closer.
Now Steve wasn’t a skittish person in anyway. There wasn’t much that scared him. However throughout the week he’d noticed things weren’t quite as they should be.
To begin with Steve’s rational mind won out, there’s was perfectly fine explanations for everything. Like he’d just forgotten that where he left something, or you had moved it without telling him. That the only reason Steve saw one of Tony’s suit activate was a system update like JARVIS explained.
But as the week went on more things were happening that he couldn’t explain. Like the temperature suddenly dropping, or random dripping noises. The peanut butter jar suddenly moving when his back was turned and you weren’t in the room. At one point he could have sworn he heard voices in the wind.
It was your last night alone before the team all came back so Steve was determined to make the most of it. You had cooked the two of you a delicious meal putting out all the stops. You relaxed together with a bottle of wine. However Steve’s mind kept going to all the strange things that had happened.
“Do you believe in ghosts?” Steve asked making you raise a brow.
“Um I dunno, on Asgard we believe our dead go to Valhalla or the stars, and they’re kinda looking down at us observing which I think is nice, especially knowing Loki and my mother could be looking down on us” you say shrugging your shoulders.
“But then again… we’ve seen so many strange things, aliens, evil elves, a computer nearly blew us up a few months ago, so maybe ghosts isn’t that far fetched” you continue making Steve nod his head slightly.
“Why’d you ask?” You ask taking a sip of your wine.
“No reason, just you know Halloween and that” Steve says waving it off.
You raise a brow at him as if you didn’t believe him. You didn’t say anything though just moved in closer and snuggled up onto his side.
That night steve woke with a start as if something had slapped him awake. He blinked a couple times before looking over to see you fast asleep with your back to him. He sat up gently suddenly feeling the chill in the air as he rubbed his eyes.
He was about to settle back down when he heard a low creaking down the hall. He furrowed his brows pushing himself out of bed. He heard you stir and murmur as he stood up.
“Where you going?” you murmured half asleep.
“Just getting a class of water” he tells you quickly as he shrugs on a jumper.
As he steps outside of the room he glances down the corridor where he heard the creaking but there was nothing. Rubbing his forehead he makes his way towards the kitchen.
As he steps inside he goes to flip the light switch but the lights don’t turn on. He sighs trying them a couple more times hoping they’d work but to no avail.
“JARVIS, what’s happened to the lights?” Steve asks but he gets no response.
“Great a power cut, I thought Tony’s arc reactor stopped that” Steve grumbles as he moves to grab a glass.
He moves over to the sink which starts spluttering before Steve even put his hand on the tap. He jumped slightly before quickly turning the tap off. He turned it back on and it worked normally once more. He sighed shaking his head as he filled his glass and gulping down a couple mouthfuls.
“Get yourself together Rogers” he cursed to himself as he put the glass down.
He started making his way back to the bedroom. He was just in the common room when he stopped in his tracks when he heard his name. He glances down the corridor expecting to see you but there was no one.
He stuffed his hand in the pockets of his hoodie when a chill ran through the room. Then he heard his name being whispered again, carried by the wind. It was a voice he didn’t recognise too.
“Hello?” Steve questioned starting to feel unnerved, especially after a week of unexplained occurrences.
Suddenly the TV screeched to life the sound of static filling the room making Steve jump and shout in surprise. He quickly grabs the remote and tried to turn it off but it wouldn’t work.
He then heard his name again but in a deep growling demonic voice that sounded like it was coming from everywhere. He looked in horror as a face appeared in the black and white static looking as if it was screaming.
One of the lamps then went flying across the room smashing against the wall making steve duck for cover. When he looked back round he saw bloody hand prints on the wall where the lamp had smashed. He watched in horror as the blood dripped down the wall, it was only then that he notices the bloody footsteps facing directly at him. He took a step back when he saw them approaching.
His back was about to hit the wall when he felt hands slam against his shoulders and shouting.
“BOO!” You scream making him suddenly turn around so quickly he fell to the floor.
He looked up at you to see you doubled over and for a moment he panicked that you were hurt. But then he heard you laughing so hard that you could barely breath.
“(Y/N)- what- what?” Steve stutters unable to work out what was going on.
The lights came back on and as Steve looked around he saw the rest of the team step out of their hiding places all laughing. Steve had to wait until you were able to breath again before he could get any answers.
“What are you all doing here?” Steve asks looking around at the team.
“(Y/N) let it slip that you hate horror movies so we decided to have a little fun” Nat chuckles hands on her hips as she caught her breath.
Steve looked back at you to see you burst out laughing again “I’m sorry, it was Tony’s idea” you say pointing over at Tony.
“You were the one that pulled the majority of it off!” Tony argues still laughing.
“What is going on?” Steve asks finally getting to his feet.
“We never actually left” Bruce explains “and throughout the week we’ve been sneaking around trying to freak you out”
“But the blood? And the growling” Steve says still confused.
“Clever tech but all projections look” tony says waving his hand around disrupting the projections.
“And the growling in the wind” Clint says point over to you.
You bite your lip before cupping your hand around your lips. You then made your voice deep using your powers over the wind to make it carry and distort your voice.
“I also made the temperature drop too” you say shrugging your shoulders.
“So this was all you lot, this entire week?” Steve questions looking around at the team.
“Yes, a prank Loki would be proud of don’t you say?” Thor laughs patting you on the shoulder.
“I hate you all” Steve huffs shaking his head.
“Oh sweetie I’m sorry” you chuckle walking over to him and wrapping your arms around his waist smiling up at him.
“Yeah its all a laugh, see JARVIS play the footage” Tony says the TV turning back on.
Steve turned to look at it seeing the CCTV footage of him in the kitchen and common room. He watched as the pranks played out and his reaction to them all. The entire team laughing hysterically at the footage. Steve had to admit it was pretty funny, trying to keep a straight face as he watched.
“Hey you’re laughing!” You say pointing up at him.
“I still hate you all” Steve chuckles shaking his head.
“Don’t worry I won’t let it happen again I promise” you promise him your hand running over his chest feeling his beating heart.
“Thank you” Steve says his arm moving around you pulling you closer, kissing the top of your head.
“I will get you all back for this” Steve warns looking round at the team.
“Yeah right there’s no way you’ll pull of a prank” Tony scoffs shaking his head.
“No but I could double your training” Steve smirks, making everyone’s jaw drop.
“You wouldn’t dare” Nat mutters.
“Try me” Steve smirks victoriously.

“First Saturday of the month. You know what that means,” Tony hollered to the Avengers scattered about the Tower.
“Yes!” Thor boomed. “Be prepared to lose.”
“Funny,” Clint laughed with a roll of his eyes. “I was just about to say the same thing to you.”
“What is happening?” you asked, somewhat bewildered, as the heroes came into the room. “What’s significant about Saturday?”
“Oh my gosh, that’s right. You just missed the last one. Every first Saturday of the month we have a game night,” Nat explained.
You’d been part of the team for just under a month, having officially joined on a Sunday. So, it was true that you’d yet to experience their apparently traditional game night. It sounded like a great deal of fun, though, especially because the Avengers had become your second family in the short time you’d known them. Well, you’d actually known Nat and Clint for years, since you all worked for SHIELD. In fact, they were a huge part of the reason you were an Avenger now. A few months ago there was a particularly dangerous crime ring, and they’d specifically requested you as backup. You’d clicked with everyone immediately and, numerous transfer papers later, here you were.
“Sounds exciting!” you told them. “What are we playing first?”
“Well actually,” Bruce said kind of sheepishly, “it’s not that I want you to sit out, but they’re all team games, and we don’t have an even number of people.”
“So we have a team of three,” Nat said, as if it were obvious.
“No way. That’s unfair,” Tony argued.
You bit your lip, feeling like maybe you were intruding on something you shouldn’t be a part of. It was their thing, after all, and perhaps there was simply no room for a newcomer. As they continued to bicker about whether one larger team mattered or not, you considered just slipping away. That’s when you noticed that there was someone missing.
“What about Loki?” you said. “He would make the numbers even.”
Much to your surprise, everyone burst out laughing. You nervously ran your sweaty palms on the legs of your pants and let out a small laugh, though you weren’t quite sure at what. Once their cackling died down, you dared to ask what was so funny.
“My brother never attends these games nights,” Thor informed you. “He isn’t one for group activities, as I’m sure you’ve noticed.”
“Well, have you ever invited him?”
“Once or twice,” Tony said. “Listen, if you want to try to make a social butterfly out of Reindeer Games, be my guest. In the meantime, we’ll work out a feasible way for us all to play.”
You rolled your eyes and scoffed a little, standing up to go find Loki. It was honestly ridiculous that they still treated him the way they did. Sure, he likes to be alone sometimes, but that doesn’t mean he likes being lonely. Not that he’d ever actually admitted to you that he was, but you knew. It was blatantly obvious in the way he sent longing glances toward the rest of the team when you gathered together. You always made sure to ask him over, an invitation he usually accepted. Everyone else had laughed the first time you’d done that, too. They’d only ever asked him a few times, and it was right when he was new and still so lost, so alone, so afraid. Why they took that to just be his permanent disposition, you didn’t know. Regardless of how insensitive they were to his situation, your inclusivity had brought Loki out of his shell a bit, and a friendship had blossomed between you.
A short walk later, you reached his door. You stretched out a hand, but hesitated to knock. Doubt gnawed at the back of your mind. Maybe he truly was not a fan of board games, and then you’d be interrupting his night. After all, he must have a tradition of his own if this happens every first Saturday. Still, you knew that was usually not the case, and steeled yourself against the uncertainty.
“Hello, my little mortal,” he greeted you, opening the door. “Is everything alright?”
“No.”
“What is it? Are you ill? Hurt?” he questioned, jumping into action and shepherding you to his couch.
“No, nothing like that,” you laughed, though you were touched by his concern. “It’s just that it’s game night, and we don’t have an even number of people.”
“Oh? And I suppose that you are asking me to join,” he mused as you nodded. “I am not usually invited, and I am notorious spoiled sport, just ask Thor.”
“Well, people say a lot of things about you, and they’re usually not true.” He shrugged his shoulders. “You don’t have to play if you really don’t want to, but will you? Please. For me?”
“For you, my little mortal, anything. After all, how can I resist those puppy dog eyes?”
You giggled and led the way out of his room, ignoring the thumping of your heart when his hand accidentally brushed yours. Nat and Tony were still bickering about the teams when you arrived, but were quickly stunned into silence when they saw Loki.
“Brother! Good to see you’ve decided to join,” Thor greeted, breaking the somewhat awkward silence. “Shall we begin then?”
First up was Cranium, and you could tell that everyone else was divided into their usual teams: Tony and Bruce, Clint and Nat, Thor and Steve. You rubbed your hands in excitement, ready for some friendly competition.
“Yes!” you shouted a while later, after you and Loki answered the final question right. “We win!”
Everyone else’s jaw hung open, shocked by how serious of a competitor you were. Not to say you were mean-spirited or gloated or anything, but it was obvious you took game night very seriously. Loki was a little surprised too, but he relished in the infectious energy of your feisty spirit. Not to mention he absolutely loved to be on the winning team.
“Congratulations, guys,” Steve said. “Don’t expect to get as lucky in the next game, though.”
The next game, apparently, was charades, which you and Loki absolutely dominated again. The two of you worked as a well-oiled machine, guessing the simple ones like sewing and the more obscure ones like whale watching with ease. Loki was also surprisingly knowledgeable about Midgardian movies and literature. The two of you high fived, having just edged out the competition.
“Wow, good job guys,” Nat congratulated. “Tony and Bruce usually win that one.”
“Way to rub it in,” Tony groaned, flopping back on the couch.
You could tell a part of him wanted to accuse Loki of cheating but, having no real evidence and not wanting to start a fight, restrained himself. Instead, he contented himself with just mumbling how much of an outrage it was. You, however, were on cloud nine.
As the next game was set up, Loki pulled you onto his lap, instilled with confidence after his latest wins. Of course, if anyone were to ask, he would just say he was saving room on the couch. It would have, though, been a lie.
“Ready for a clean sweep, my little mortal?” he whispered, his breath surprising cold on your ear.
“Bring it on!” you whispered back with a wink.
The last game of the night was Pictionary, and by now everyone knew you and Loki were the team to beat. Unfortunately for them, you got this win, too. The Avengers let out a collective sigh as you shouted a victorious whoop and hugged Loki.
“Good game everyone,” you said, starting to help clean up.
“What are you doing, my little mortal?” Loki questioned, half joking. “Do you not know the losers have to clean up?”
“Not sure that’s actually a rule, Rock of Ages,” Tony grumbled.
“Fine, I’ll help,” he replied, placing a singular piece back in the box. “There. Now it is time for our victory lap.”
Then he scooped you up bridal style using his superhuman strength and began running you around the Tower in his arms, both laughing the whole time. He finally brought you to a stop on the balcony of his room.
“You’re ridiculous, you know that right?” you said, still chuckling.
“Perhaps. But we deserved that after an excellent showing.”
“I guess so. As much as it pains me to admit it, we should probably go easy on them next time. We’ll just win one a night, ok?”
“That’s my little mortal,” he happily sighed, wrapping his arms around you. “Always looking out for others. Always looking out for me. Thank you for inviting me along tonight.”
“No problem. It was a lot of fun. We make a pretty good team.”
“Indeed.”
A comfortable silence settled between you, and you rested against Loki, whose arms were still wrapped around you. He felt more relaxed and happy than he had in a while. He knew he’d ask you out someday, but right now he was still too shy, this friendship still too new. One day he would, though, and he couldn’t wait to get there and to every day after.

"Agent Y/N Y/L/N." You introduced yourself the first moment you were escorted into the compound by Director Nick Fury. Multiple sets of faces both new and old had come to greet you. For a moment you wouldn't even believe that this is was the new life you would find yourself to be a part of from now on.
Years in the job for SHIELD before disappearing off the grid to get as much information about HYDRA, everyone had thought you had betrayed them and you had accepted that they would think so lowly of you after all the near-deaths you had to endure on the job. Even with the mission becoming more of a death wish, you had accepted the role Nick had given you all those years ago and now you were rewarded, immensely. A spot on the Avengers as part of the Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
The familiar face of Nat was the first to greet you with a hug. A fiercely tight one, it had been so long since you've seen a friend. Then your eyes fell towards the rest of the team; Bucky Barnes, who you had a few close encounters with during your time with HYDRA. You had witness everything they had done to him and stood on trail to clean his name. Steve Rogers, who, with Sharon Carter, had assisted in guarding Steve while SHIELD was still under HYDRA's control. But among the familiar faces, one stood out the most.
Loki Laufeyson.
To many, the man was a snake, a God that had once brought death and destruction in New York. But to you, he was different, this was the man that you had spent your lonely nights with while under the guise of a traitor. It had once just been a physically thing between the two of you, neither wanting to know about each other's lives. You knew he was a God, a man that had wronged the world, but he had never known about you, the woman that had painted yourself as a traitor for the better of the world. The one that had been called every name on the book for the sake of making sure you did your part right.
Then it got serious between the two of you. Admission of love was told between both of your lips. But it was dangerous for you two to be together especially when you were already told by Fury that you can come back to the surface. You didn't know what side he was on, and you did not have the heart to make him choose if the time would come.
So you two parted. A month ago. The pain still throbbing you like an unattended bullet hole right through your heart. It was still so painful to look at him and not remember him crumbling on his knees begging you to stay. The first sob that escaped his lips and forever haunted your dreams. A never-ending loop in the back of your head as your demons screamed at you for breaking an already broken man.
"I for one am happy you're finally here. Another woman to add to an already Man's Man world in the compound." Nat teased glancing towards the other individuals that had come to know the new face. "With introductions out of the way, you've got a lot of explaining to do for the past few years."
You could only smile at your friend. You did have so much to explain to her, things had been murky between you and Clint, but after everything, Nat had refused to believe you would betray them, betray her, and it was finally a relief to be able to return back home, seeing the people that mean the most to you.
"Tell me about it." You muttered allowing Nat to quickly pull your away from the crowd, but it missed your eyes how he was still looking. Ice blue eyes a contract to the burning gaze he had towards you.
Forget about him. Forget about him. You were here for a new opportunity. No him. Never him.
For the next few weeks, everyone had grown to accept you in your new role as part of the Avengers. You kept up with Steve, Bucky, and Sam during their runs. Sam more than happy to finally have someone that had the same pace as him, but only for you to laugh and out run him just to get a reaction out of the high flier. Tony and Bruce had also found a kinship in you, having provided them enough information about HYDRA's experiments and location made most of their missions easier. Then there was Nat and Clint, your confidant in this new life. Every single moment that was not dedicated to a mission was spent with them; may it be movie night or a simple get together outside the compound, often times bringing Wanda and Vision along just to mess with you and call you a 5th wheel of the group.
But among number of members on the team, everyone had noticed you constantly avoided one Thor Odinson and one Loki Laufeyson. The only real time you would even dare talk to either of the brothers would be during training--other than that, you tried your best to avoid them, Loki most especially. Every single moment that would force the two of you to be in the same room, Loki had a glare while you tried your best to avoid his gaze.
Everyone noticed, everyone didn't seem to worry too much. It comes with having a former-villain part of the team. They thought you would eventually get used to the God's presence just as much as they did.
"You ever gonna tell me what's going on between you and Loki?" Nat inquired avoiding your punch.
What you hated the most about sparring with Nat was her capability of multitasking. Talking and snooping about someone else's business while also kicking their ass in the process--this was the predicament you were in right in this very moment.
"Nothing is going on." You muttered landing back first on the mat after being thrown like a rag doll by Nat. Eyes looking at the ceiling, you wondered if it was a good idea to actually come clean to her about her past with the God of Mischief. "I know what he's done to New York and I think you can't blame me for taking precaution when it comes to him."
Nat now comes hovering on top of you, the narrowed eyes and gentle smirk was all you needed to know--she knew it was bullshit. But when she had stopped pushing you for more information, it was enough for you to just change the subject.
"They found Dominic?" You inquired. One of the first big missions that everyone was focusing on was one of the leading Scientist for HYDRA. With the exposure of HYDRA to the world, some of them had moved away and found themselves in much shadier company, much to everyone's radar now spiking.
Dominic Wagner was, in part, partially responsible for the Winter Soldier program in the modern era. One of the pioneers in moving the project into a much younger sets of test subjects. You lost contact with the man as soon as your got back into the surface, but it had also meant a target was on your back when they found out you were a double agent.
"He's in Russia. Wasting away all the funding for the program with parties" Nat points out. "Still a better way to spend the money that abducting kids everywhere."
You nodded, memories of files upon files for the prospects still haunted you to this day.
"When are you taking him out?" You inquired. In your time with the SHIELD, the red in both of your ledger had made you two a hot commodity if the situation present itself as shoot to kill. Neither of you would hesitate. You knew you would now, after everything, but if it means one less bad people in this earth, you would swallow your new morals.
"Fury wants him alive." She pointed out finally standing back up to her own two feet, leaving you on your back, staring at the ceiling in deep thought. "I know as much as you do, we want him dead for everything he has done, but we need him alive so we can get the others."
You nodded, this was one of the few things you had to get used to as part of the team. Death was best solution in SHIELD--at least in your team, not here. As long as you were part of Steve's team, you would need to choose whether or not killing would be the best option. Hope that you weren't so blessed to be given in your time under.
"I get a first shot when we don''t have any use of him anymore." You muttered finally standing back up with Nat's help. Steps faltering at the sight of the God of Mischief, training with the likes of Peter Parker, Sam Wilson, and Bucky Barnes. A weird mix up, but wasn't hard to understand why.
"Why don't you shoot your shots with him for now." Nat teased, finally making you break from staring at the plain black shirt and green sweatshort-clad Loki Laufeyson. "If we try to ignore the death count during his attack, he is sort-of your type in men." Nat wiggled her brows. quick to avoid you as you attempted to swat her in the ass, eyes now turned away from God and his training partners.
"By type, you mean psychotic with possible Daddy-issue? Then you might just be right." You snort.
"I'm offended you think of me as such, Darling"
Jerking your head to the owner of the voice, how the hell did he sneak up behind you without you noticing. You glanced at Nat in panic and like the traitor that she was, made a terrible excuse of being needed in Bruce's lab. Now being left in the man's presence, you could all but remember the last time you had been this close to the man.
Heartbreaks.
Words that you didn't mean.
Words that he didn't mean.
It still hurt you, and you were sure it hurts him just as much, if not more now, finally realizing why there had been a need for a breakup between the two of them all those weeks ago.
"Here I thought I would have someone to trust. You mortals continue to disappoint me." He hissed.
Your eyes glanced at the other training trio, noticing all three of them were in their own little world to even noticed what was going on between the two of them.
"Tell me, Darling..." He whispered, head leaning towards the shell of your ears. The familiar shiver run through your skin as just his voice. Memories of the very things his silver tongue had whispered had you flustered and breathless, more than from your earlier training with Nat. "Was it satisfying to play with a God?"
Before you could even mutter a word, his constantly gentle hand now covered your jaw, emitting a squeak from your lips and stopping you from saying a word. He was never this forceful, nor did he do anything that would hurt you. Was this the true nature of the man you had finally thought you have been the best part of you. To have loved a man that everyone was right to stay away from?
"Or is it shame finally coming to you, to be ever involved with someone like me?"
You tried to pry his hand away from you, but he was too strong--stronger than you could ever think of being.
"Or is this you taking your opportunity to move from one bed to another? Who will it be this time, Y/N? My oaf of a brother or will it be Soldier out of time? Who will you whore this time?"
And you finally snapped. With a resounding slap, all three individuals had heard your attack on the man and Loki finally releasing his hold on your jaws. A chuckle escaped his lips and only brought the first line of tears to fall from your eyes. You never wanted to believe him to be a monster, but here he was, proving her wrong.
"I am in doubt of the foundation of our relationship for the past years, Y/N. I am the God of Mischief and Lies and the only mortal I had ever truly opened to had done this to me. Lied to me for such a long time, lied about the entirety of our relationship."
"You will never understand."
"Oh no," he chuckled darkly, eyes glaring straight into your own. "I understand well enough to know, you would never love someone like me and I deserve every lie and heartache I am enduring because of everything I have ever done in my past."
Before you could defend yourself and the genuinity of your relationship with the God, he had made his excuse. Leaving you to ponder of the true damage of your breakup with Loki, and the aftermath it had now held for the both of you. He was right, you had lied, and either way, their relationship will fall apart because of those lies.
Tumblr media
He was the God of Mischief and Lies.
Yet, he did not expect for this biggest lie to break him the most. The separation had been painful, he had always hoped for a better life with you. Then a month passed since your breakup, he sees you, it hits him like a sharp knife to the chest all over again. He experience the pain of a stab to the chest, but it would never compare to the pain of seeing you in this very compound with the truth of your life that you refused to ever open to him.
This was karma coming to haunt him it seems.
It had been well over a week now since the first time he had actually confronted you about everything. It wasn't how he planned for things to go through. He never wanted to hurt you, but he was a monster after all. A monster that his own father had told his people to avoid. A bedtime story to scare mischievous kids into submission.
He had always thought after everything he had to endure, had to do, had to escape, he could finally live a peaceful life. A life to finally start anew. A life where he could finally change for the best. A mortal woman had made him make those ideas come into reality, you had always became the reason why he would never have his redemption in life.
A bitter idea with no possible resolution.
How could he have ever believed that anyone would ever love someone like him? After everything he had ever done, he was never allowed to be loved. You had proved that somehow.
'Mr. Laufeyson, you are needed for a meeting with the team'
Breaking from his little bubble. He sighed finally returning back to reality, into the little comforts the library could give him. The week had been gruelling for him, three individual witnessed the altercation between himself and you. It had spread like wildfire, but thanking the Gods that no one was able to listen to the conversation.
He had to endure most of the questioning. In everyone's eyes, he was, after all, still under everyone's constant scrutiny. A man that no one could trust. But he refused to say a single word knowing you did the same thing. It was better to keep your mouth shut instead of letting people know exactly what had happened. Somehow that brought a smile on his face. He might not share a future with you, but might as well make the most out of making your life a living hell, as much you did it to him.
Shutting the book he was barely even reading, he placed the book back into the shelf before walking his way towards the meeting room.
He could easily teleport, but he preferred to enjoy his moments of peace without his oaf of a brother breathing down his neck or Stark constantly testing his patience with his quips. It also gave him a moment to school his features, he knew well enough about the mission to know you would also be in attendance. Be more invested in this mission than anyone else.
It was a few things he was relearning about you now that you were out in the open as everyone claims you to be. You were a free spirited being that could meld with anyone you were in the area with. He had watched you throw relentless jabs at Tony during your first few days that had the man surprisingly raise a white flag. But the most dangerous thing he had to learn was the familial relationship you had with one Natasha Romanoff and Clint Burton, two people that he kept his distance with the most.
"Professor Snape has finally graced us with his presence."
Loki has learned since joining the team to choose his battle when it comes to Tony. This was one of those moment. Finding a vacant chair besides his brother, he had taken his seat. A big mistake on his part as he finds from across the table, you sat. In between a glaring Romanoff and Barton.
Wearing a smirk, just to get on the two super spies' nerve, he turned his attention right back into the meeting. He begins formulating a few little schemes to not only get on the two's nerved, but most especially yours.

FATWS One Shot #2 - The Beginning of a Family
Word Count: 1804

Setting/Characters: The first half-ish of The Avengers in 2012; Reader, Steve Rogers, Nick Fury, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Thor, Mentions of Loki, Phil Coulson, and Clint Barton, OC!Agent Anderson
A/N: Here’s One Shot Number 2! I was thinking of making it longer and adding the actual Battle of Manhattan, but I dunno if I’m gonna do that. I just wanted these to be One Shots of first meetings and other smaller events. I didn’t want to do scene-for-scene two parters. If you want me to, I can, I don’t mind doing it, I just wasn’t planning on it. I’ve kinda been slacking today, which is why I haven’t cranked out more than this one, but I’ll see if I can finish one more for tonight. Tomorrow’s another late night for me at work, BUT! Tomorrow night FATWS comes out! So I will be doing the next Episode! I also don’t have Friday off this week, so the Parts might bleed into Saturday, but they will come this weekend!
Reminder that this has nothing to do with FATWS the show, but I don’t have a title for my FATWS Series, which is what these are based off of, so this is what they’re called for now! If you have any ideas for names, feel free to send them in! I’m just too lazy to come up with something clever for the whole Series.
Thank you so much for reading! As always, not beta’d so please excuse any mistakes! Be kind to yourselves and others! Stay tuned and enjoy!

You were exhausted, coming back from an assignment that lasted a little over two months. It’d been your first one since you were assigned to help Steve adjust, and you were guessing they’d keep you on desk duty for a few months before sending you back out again. Which frustrated you to no end.
But then you got back your personal cell phone from a fellow agent and, seeing you had a few  voicemails - which you never had - you flipped it on.
“Hi, Y/N.” Your lips turned up at the man you started growing close to over the past year. “I-I know you’re on a mission right now. I mean, you just left last week. Anyways, I just…I hope you’re doin’ okay. You probably won’t get this until later, but…still. I hope you’re safe. I, uh, I got that book. The one you were joking about me getting. The U.S. History for Dummies one. It goes farther back than I need to know, but I still read all of it. It helped. I wish you were here though. But I know you’re working. And that’s important. Um… I guess I’ll see you in a few months.”
The phone beeped before the next message played. “I took your advice. I got a sketchbook and some other stuff. There’s a ton of new supplies. I’m kinda excited to try them out. Maybe they’re not new but they’re more accessible now than they used to be. And I found a gym. In Brooklyn. It’s kinda run down - a hole in the wall type place - but they don’t do memberships and they don’t care how long you stay as long as you pay for your time. So that’s nice. I guess. Anyways…hi. I don’t think I said that earlier. It’s Steve, by the way. But you probably guessed that. Um…that’s all. I just wanted to let you know. Stay safe, honey. Abbyssinia.”
You listened to the next couple ones, all along the same lines. Steve telling you about his day; about the dog he was allowed to pet on his run or the different coffee he tried this morning at your previous suggestion. You snickered a little, shaking your head. You would never guessed that Hitler hitting, Nazi punching Captain America was so…soft. Cute.
His last voicemail was from earlier that morning, and it made her brow furrow. “Hey, honey. I, uh…God, I really wish you were here. I was told you’d be getting back last week, but then they said it might be another couple weeks because something happened? I hope nothing happened. Please be okay. I’ve really missed you. I know it’s only been a year, but…you’re the only familiar thing I have right now. I guess Fury was right to choose you since you were the first person I saw. There’s a, uh, problem. Fury’s got a mission for me. Some guy named Loki stole the Tesseract. Which was HYDRA’s secret weapon. That blue cube thing. I was just getting used to laptops and fast food and this…it’s just a lot. Overwhelming. You were always good at making things less intimidating. I’ve gotta go. Some SHIELD personnel are picking me up now. We’re going to…somewhere. I’m sure you would know, but they haven’t exactly told me. Hoping to see you soon, Y/N. Please be safe.”
You frowned at the information, looking up at one of your fellow agents, Anderson. “Hey.” He turned his head towards you from his conversation with the copilot. “Is something going on at HQ?”
“The Helicarrier.” Anderson corrected. “Fury just called it in. Something with the Tesseract. And some guy’s mind controlling people. He’s got Barton, apparently. The director is bringing a few people on board; Banner, Stark, Romanoff. Rogers, too, I heard. He wants you to be there ASAP, so we’re going there now.”
Letting out a sigh, you rubbed your eyes and nodded. “Alright. Let’s go see what’s going on.”
*************************
Fury met you as you walked off the jet, lugging your duffle bag over your shoulder. You were still in your clothes from the mission; a human trafficking ring in Guam. Dirty, torn up jeans along with a white tank top hugging your torso and a flannel, unbuttoned, over your shoulders. One of your sneakers had a hole in it, too, and you were walking with a slight limp from the dislocated kneecap you got a few days prior.
“Agent.” He nodded in greeting, passing you a file. “The others are waiting. We just brought in Loki.”
You chewed your cheek, narrowing your eyes as you scanned the information in the file. It had personal files of the others, but you didn’t need to look through those. You knew Natasha very well, considering she taught you half the things you know, along with Barton. You knew Stark - of course you did - especially after you helped set Natasha up to be his secretary a while back. Banner you were also knowledgeable about, seeing as you went undercover to find him when he first took off and had been part of the tracking team on him ever since. Thor you had learned about after his fiasco in New Mexico from Coulson. And, last but certainly not least, Steve Rogers, who you knew better than any file could explain.
“Walk me through this; Thor and Loki are the real Thor and Loki? Like, from Norse myths?”
“Apparently so. You know about the New Mexico incident with the two last year, don’t you?”
You nodded, pinching your lips together tightly. “Well, yeah, but I thought…I dunno. I guess it just didn’t click. So,” you tucked the file under your arm securely, raising an eyebrow at Fury. “We’re fighting a god? An actual god?”
“With an army of aliens.” He confirmed.
“Wonderful.” You huffed as the two of you turned a corner, making your way onto the bridge, just in time to hear Stark talking to Banner about him turning into the Hulk.
“Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube.” Fury butted in. You crossed your arms behind Fury, leaning on your good leg. “I was hoping you might join him. Before you do, this is-”
“Y/N! You’re back!”
You shot a grin to the blonde, who perked up upon seeing you. “Hi, Steve. Just in time, too, huh.” You nudged Natasha slightly. “Hey, Nat. Sorry about Clint.”
She shrugged. “I’m just glad you’re here to help.”
“I’m sorry.” You looked over to find Banner frowning contemplatively at you. “Do I know you?”
You opened your mouth to answer, but Fury beat you to it. “Formalities later. Y/L/N, we’ll bring you up to speed-”
“I’ll get there, sir. How are you boys planning on tracking down the Tesseract?” You questioned, nodding in the two geniuses’ direction.
“I’d start with that stick of his.” Steve suggested, turning to look at the duo as well. “It may be magical but it works an awful lot like a HYDRA weapon.”
“I don’t know about that, but it is powered by the Cube.” Fury stated. “And I’d like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys.”
A tall, broad as hell blonde looked at Fury, confused. “Monkeys? I do not understand-”
“I do!” Steve jumped in, pointing at Thor, before leaning back in his seat at the silence that came after his exclamation. “I-I understood that reference.”
You chuckled and shook your head, winking at Steve when he smiled bashfully at you. As the two scientists - was Stark a scientist? - started heading out, Steve hopped up, padding over to you.
“You’re back early.”
“Late, technically.” You shrugged, letting him pull you in for a hug, your hand rubbing his back. “I got your calls.”
He pulled away, his ears turning red. “Oh, yeah. I, uhm-”
You sniggered. “It’s fine, Steve. You can call me whenever you need to. I’m just sorry I couldn’t answer you sooner.”
“You were working.” He shrugged half heartedly. “Did it go okay? Are you okay?”
“Yes, Steven. I’m fine.” You rolled your eyes just as a yawn threatened to escape your lips. “If not a little tired.” You tapped on the star against his chest. “Nice suit, by the way.”
“Ha ha.” He grinned, eyeing your own clothing. “You’re matching me.” He tugged on the red, white, and blue flannel hanging from your arms. “You also look like shit.”
You snorted. “Wow. What a gentleman. Let’s get this whole Loki situation over with so I can go to bed, yeah?”
He chuckled a little with a nod. “Sounds like a plan, honey.” The two of you started out of the bridge. “You should shower first, though.”
“You’re a bully, you know that?”
“I’m just sayin’!”
“I’m just sayin’!” You mocked with a huff. “Leave me be, Rogers.”
His laughter was cut short, making you look over at him curiously, only to find his slitted eyes studying your movements. “Why are you limping?”
“Relax, Captain. I just dislocated my knee. It’s fine. Shit happens on missions, you know that.”
“Is that why you came back late?”
Shaking your head, you lead him to one of the private rooms the Helicarrier had so you could shower and change. “No. I just needed a little more time. That’s all. Now let’s focus on the problem at hand. We can talk more later.”
He hesitated, leaning against the doorway and watching you set your bag on the small cot.  “Okay. As long as you’re alright.”
Your heart jumped a bit at the concern laced in his tone, the apprehension in those blue eyes - which you found out had some green in them - making your breath hitch slightly. “I am.” You spoke softly with a firm nod of your head, trying to assure him and his worries. “I promise.”
“I’m gonna go check on Banner and Stark, then. Come find me when you’re done.”
You cleared your throat to recover yourself, throwing him a cheeky grin. “Aye, aye, Captain.”
He rolled his eyes with a smile, before turning and walking out, leaving you alone and confused.
What was that? You’d never had that reaction to anything. Your heart doesn’t race whenever someone walks in the room. Not like it did with him. What the hell did that even mean?
You shook your head, clearing your throats. You didn’t have time to dwell on that now. You doubted it was anything more than a fluke. You were just tired and seeing someone familiar, who was genuinely excited to see you was like a breath of fresh air after your operation. That’s all. Yeah.
With that decided, you headed to the shower, head spinning with new thoughts of this problem with the God of Mischief and that stupid blue cube.

A Stark Halloween Party // Tony Stark x Plus Size Reader
Word Count: 1788 Warning: Light insecurity
There's this one girl. She wasn't a girl. She was a woman. She was bigger than other women. She was different. She loved herself. That's what drew big time tech billionare Tony Stark to her. He liked that she was confident. She was sometimes sarcastic under her breath when she thought no one could hear her. Tony realized that she was very similar to him. Tony didn't treat her like he treated Pepper. Pepper had actually decided to go to a law firm instead of working with Tony.
He knew y/n would be slower than Pepper in heels. He would only order her to stand beside him and write his work notes while he was in his lab. She would make him laugh. That wasn't easy for him since the New York incident. He loved to see her every day at 10am. Being confident was a great thing to be around Tony Stark.
Another thing about him, Tony always loved parties. No disaster would get him down when it came to a celebration or charity. Halloween was a big shen-dig for him. He was a man who liked costumes, too. He made everyone's costumes better yet he had someone else make the costumes; not that he didn't have an idea of the costumes but he couldn't sew. He decided after the computer generated the costumes to go and switch them up himself and give everyone Tony Stark appointed costumes.
He had called everyone in the compound to the main conference room. Everyone was surprised that Tony called everyone since there was nothing on the news or on the tv monitors hanging around the place, lately. He explained that he wanted to throw a Halloween bash. He started giving everyone their costumes and that their outfits will be sent to them when they get made. It was 2 weeks until Halloween. He could do it. He even thought about making them dress up as each other but after he chuckled about that he decided to go with traditional costumes.
Tony named off announcing the costumes explaining he used a generator so they won't guess he chose legitimately to give him and y/n similar matching costumes. or get annoyed if they didn't like the costumes he picked.
Steve. Sailor.
Natasha. Angel.
Y/n. Princess.
Clint. Ghost Face.
Thor. Pro Wrestler.
Peter Parker. Vampire.
Sam. Police Officer.
Scott. Devil.
Rhodey. Storm Trooper.
Wanda. Jessica Rabbit. (Mostly because of the hair)
Vision. Michael Myers.
Bucky. Werewolf.
Happy. Superman.
Loki. Plague Doctor.
and himself. Prince Charming.
It was a bit harder than he thought to give them all costumes. They all practically live in costumes. He chose the most ironic costumes he could. He however made sure he and y/N were matching. He wouldn't tell he didn't generate the costumes. Only FRIDAY knows.
Once everyone got their costumes, they're of course was arguements of why they got the costume they got. Tony rolled his eyes. "Deal with it." He smiled at y/N and went and left to go to his office. He ordered a famous designer to create the costumes except the princess one. He wanted to design that one himself.
"I can't believe I'm even coming to this party," Loki complained.
"Your face will be covered, Brother," Thor responded.
Loki groaned.
"I am stronger than any wrestler," Thor thinks. "I do not trust technology."
Steve looked at Natasha. "I considered joining the marines. I preferred to be an army soldier though."
Natasha was in shock and crossed her arms. "I am no angel. I would rather be a ninja."
Steve chuckles, "Tony's not going to change his mind."
Natasha rolled her eyes, "I blame the computer more than him."
Wanda looked to Steve and Natasha, "My costume is the most sexist outfit..."
Vision looks at her with a soft smile, "I would love to see you in that costume."
Wanda then forgets all her worries about being so sexy and caresses his cheek, "You ok with your costume babe?"
Vision nods, "I will wear whatever is given. I haven't ever celebrated Halloween before."
Wanda smiles, "Ok."
Vision tilts his head, "Who is Michael Myers?"
Wanda calmly describes the psycho to him.
Vision thinks, "I see..." He said that a lot.
Scott looks to Clint, "I'm just glad to be a part of this team."
Clint nodded, "I was going to take my kids trick-or-treating this year..."
Scott laughed, "Well maybe it won't be on actual Halloween."
Clint nodded, "Hope so." He wasn't too fond of his costume. The devil? Really? He disapproved.
Natasha looked at Clint, "Really? you think you got it bad? I've never worn a dress before. A white one at that."
"Computers aren't against you," Happy interrupted Nat and Clint.
Happy liked the idea of being Superman. Finally, he is a superhero like everyone else around him.
Happy looked at Peter who was over excited for being invited to his first Avenger/Tony/"Adult" party. "Are you alright kid?"
Peter nods and flops down on the couch. "Oh yeah. I am excited! I also love that Tony is making our costumes. He always makes me great costumes. You think I can invite MJ? and/or Ned? Do you think Mr. Stark would mind?"
Happy shrugged, "I don't think he would mind."
Bucky was quiet standing in a corner not caring either which way. but trying to think of what a werewolf costume would look like.
Rhodey thought a storm trooper would be cool. Star Wars is a classic afterall.
Sam was neutral about his outfit. He didn't care one way or another about being a police officer. He was trying to imagine himself in it. He could be a police officer. He loved helping people and saving the day. He felt like a police officer anyway. Just with the metal wings.
y/N was being quiet. She was worried now that her costume wouldn't fit once Tony gives it to her. Talk about embarassing. She hurriedly rushed up to her room to avoid anyone else. She wasn't an insecure person since middle school. She was surprised her confidence was currently faltering.
"Looks like the computer thinks you and I should match," She bumps into Tony.
"Tony... I didn't see you... sorry," y/n told him.
"Are you alright?" Tony arched his brow.
"I was wondering if... maybe I could pick my own costume. I mean I'll still be a princess... I just..."
"What are you afraid of... you don't want to match with me?"
"Tony... I'm not feeling well. I am going to my room," She left.
"Hmm... hey... y/N, wait!" Tony didn't understand why she wasn't happy or glad they matched.
She looked in the mirror and immediately went to bed after sighing loudly. She needed to get her mind off of the party. She wasn't even happy that she was even invited to one of the biggest shen-digs of the year.
She was very quiet during her work the following days. Tony was concerned. He had FRIDAY keep an eye on her for him. She was just anxious and didn't try to keep up with him anymore. She wasn't even wearing heels anymore.
The costumes came in from the designer. Tony already had everyone's measurements so he had sent them out. He didn't have y/n's so he tried scientifically to decide the size of her costume. She would never tell him or let him near her with a measuring tape. She would rather disappear than have ANY of the Avenger's Family know her size, especially Tony. She had a crush on her boss. Who wouldn't? He was Tony Freaking Stark. Tall, dark, handsome, rich, smart, and a superhero.
Everyone is glad how their costumes turned out. They fit just right and were amazing. Tony definitely appreciated the styles and the designs worth every penny. Everyone was happy with their costumes.
The night of the party y/n didn't come to the party hall. He went to her room and knocked on the door. She was crying on the edge of her bed with the dress in her lap, makeup running down her cheeks. "Why aren't you dressed?"
"I can't fit it."
"W... did you try it on?" She shrugs then sighs and shakes her head. "No..."
Tony just stared at her. "O....k. Come on I'll help you. If I have to wear poofy sleeves you have to wear the poofy dress."
She blushed nodding and stood up and he helped her dress into her costume, sucking in her stomach as much as she could so he doesn't see her 'girth'.
As a Prince and Princess, Tony and the reader smiling
"You look sexy in that costume," Tony smiled softly at her.
She blushed deep, "You're drunk and that's inappropriate Mr. Stark..."
"Call me Tony. Please... You've been here for 6 months... You're always with me. You know me better than anyone... You have pretty hair, y/n... and such soft, delicate figure... You are so beautiful. Now will you come downstairs and be with me at the party?"
She giggled, "We are at the party."
He smiled, "I made sure we matched."
"What...really?"
He nodded, "I wanted to be with you. I chose all the costumes. The generator was just me. Don't tell." He laughed. "You are my date on purpose."
y/N's eyes widened, "You wanted me to look like a giant marshmallow?"
Tony looked offended, "I wanted you to be mine."
"Wait... like me... and you?"
"Me and you..."
"What why? I'm not as hot as the other women you..."
"NEVER say you are less than anyone else. Where's the y/N I am used to that doesn't care what others think about how she looks? and Especially bimbos from my past. They don't matter. It's the past. This is the future." He takes her hand and puts a palm against her palm and smiles down at her.
" You know... you are such a catch. I'm attracted to you and all your beauty and snark. Yeah, I notice you. You have an old timey type of beauty like a princess... and I am your Prince. Well, I would call myself a King. You do everything for me. You know me better than anyone has ever..."
"He is so egotistical," Bucky said.
Tony rolled his eyes. "She is a Queen. My queen; not a princess."
Steve smiled soft. "She is sweet as can be. Princess was a perfect outfit for her. She better watch out for him. He will corrupt her." He laughs.
y/n grinned wide at Tony insecurities all gone and leans up and kisses him. "My Tony?"
"My y/N..." Tony kisses back passionately.
Everyone claps.

Summary: Surprisingly, more secrets come out. A final plan is formed.
Notes: Please read the ending note. You must read Out Of Time in order to understand this. The chapter numbers continue from Out Of Time. (gifs aren’t mine)

“She’s not the only one whose kept secrets, Steve,” Natasha said, once Y/N was clearly gone. “We all have.”
“This is different,” Steve argued, mad. “This has to do with half the universe turning into dust and the man who did it. She should have told us so that we could have—“
“Done what, Steve?!” Tony retorted. “Spent the past five years planning and waiting for something to happen?! That’s not a way to live! I know that because I’ve lived that! I’ve tried to do that!” Tony took a deep breath, trying to calm himself as he backed away from everyone. “I may be the only one who feels this way, but I wouldn’t change the last five years. Yes, I miss people terribly and feel the guilt of what happened constantly. But I finally have the family I’ve always longed for. I have a daughter who is my whole world, and a wife who fights for what she loves.”
“Her telling us everything wouldn’t have changed when Scott came back or when I put the pieces together about time travel,” Tony continued. “Keeping that a secret didn’t change anything.”
“Tony’s right,” Clint spoke up. “It wouldn’t have changed anything.”
Tony and Clint nodded at each other. Tony knew it had to be hard for Clint to admit that, especially since he had lost his whole family. Steve clenched his jaw, frustrated.
“Steve,” Natasha called calmly, “have you ever thought about how many times you get angry at Y/N for keeping things from you?”
“I don’t understand what that has to do with anything,” Steve said.
“You freak and turn around and blame everything on her. Maybe she doesn’t tell you things because she knows that you won’t react in the best way. And you doubt her, so much.”
“How is this now about me?”
“I’m sorry, isn’t everything?” Tony retorted. The two men glared at each other in silence for a moment, the tension getting thick. “I’m going to go check on my wife.”
~~~
“Hey Pepper,” Y/N greeted, video calling her friend.
“Hey Y/N,” Pepper replied.
“Is Morgan up?”
“I’m sorry, I put her to bed already.”
“That’s okay.”
“Is something wrong though? You seem a little down.”
“I just… can you poke me in there for a second? I just need to see her.”
“Of course.” Pepper began heading to Morgan’s room. “She really misses you guys.”
“We miss her too.”
Pepper quietly opened Morgan’s door and reached her hand in so that Y/N could see the little girl on the phone. Morgan was sound asleep, clinging onto the Iron Man stuffy that Tony had bought her. Y/N’s eyes slowly filled with tears as she longed to hold her child.
“Thank you, Pep,” Y/N said softly.
“Of course,” the woman replied.
“Tell her we’ll call her tomorrow. And that we love her.”
“Y/N, what’s up?”
“This is all just getting more real. And I don’t want something to happen with Morgan knowing her parents love her.”
“Nothing’s going to happen. You and Tony are going to be fine.”
Y/N gave her friend a tight lipped smile, clearly not believable. “Thanks for taking care of her for us, Pep. Good night.”
Y/N sighed after hanging up, leaning back against the headboard. She closed her eyes and sucked in her lips. She had never missed her abilities more in the last five years, then at this very moment. She wished she could simply portal herself home, to hold her child. But Y/N couldn’t, and she knew she needed to stay at the compound and finish out the mission. No matter the cost.
“Are you okay?” Tony’s voice was quiet as he leaned in the doorway, worried eyes raking over his wife.
“I’m fine,” she answered, not bothering to open her eyes.
Tony sighed before he walked over and sat himself on the bed. He made sure he wasn’t touching her, not wanting to press. “I let Steve have it after you left. It wasn’t right for him to do that. Red even had my back.” Y/N didn’t respond. “Honey… I’m sorry.” He set a comforting hand on her leg. “I know that I’ve pushed you in the past for not saying anything. But I’m beginning to see the weight that the Stones have placed on you. I’m so sorry.”
“He will never understand,” Y/N breathed out quietly. “He hasn’t been able to since he came out of the ice… I lived 5 years with believing he was dead. I changed in that time and he has never been able to accept that… but doesn’t make it hurt any less. He’s still my twin…” Y/N finally opened her eyes and met Tony’s. She reached out and took his hand from her leg. “Thank you,” she whispered. “For standing with me.”
“I made vows to do so. I never intend on breaking them.”
She pulled him closer to her. She wrapped herself around him, earning a light chuckle.
“Can we stay like this the rest of the night?” She whispered.
“Of course,” Tony answered, kissing her hairline. “We can stay like this as long as you like.”
~~~
In the morning, the couple ate breakfast in bed before venturing out to face the rest of the group. Everyone was seemingly trying to act normal, but Steve. Every time he glanced Y/N’s way, it was harsh. Cold and unforgiving. Tony kept himself at Y/N’s side as the group began going over the Tesseract.
“Our first major run in with the Tesseract, or Space Stone, was back in the 40’s,” Steve explained. He was standing in front of everyone, pictures, videos and information were playing on the screens behind him. “HYDRA’s then leader, Red Skull, was using it to create mass energy weapons. Y/N and I were on Red Skull’s plane when it took off to bomb major cities around the world.” Steve looked at Y/N. “Would you like to tell the rest of it?”
She pursed her lips, trying to keep her emotions in check. “Sure.” She stood up and went to the front of the room. “As Steve said, we were in the ship. I was trying to get to the controls and the Tesseract, when it could knocked loose. It portaled Red Skull away. I…” Y/N paused with a sigh. She hadn’t recounted this story since she woke up. “I grabbed the cube as it fell, burning my hand. Dropping it, it burned a hole in the floor causing both myself and the cube to fall. I grabbed onto it as a fell…” Y/N looked down at her scarred hand, rubbing it nervously. “Howard Stark later found it in his search for Steve and I.”
“After that, it was in SHIELD’s hands,” Y/N continued. “And, from what Carol has added to the record, a scientist who was trying to save the Skrull species. From their Fury began tests on it and began making weapons of his own. That’s how the Battle of New York started… Being control by the Mind Stone himself, Loki came and took the Tesseract. He used it to open a giant portal, letting the Chitauri army through.”
More video footage began being played of that day behind her. The all watched, with those who were there remembering the day like it was yesterday.
“How long did you fight these guys?” Rocket asked.
“About, uh, two or three hours,” Natasha responded. She looked at Tony who nodded along in agreement.
“The Chitauri are the suckiest army in the galaxy. Why didn’t you just blow up the mothership?”
“We didn’t know that was a thing,” Steve said.
“You didn’t know that was a thing?” Rocket laughed. Tony stood up from his seat, shaver in hand. (He was shaving as he was listening.) He went up behind Rocket and shaved some of his hair on top of his head. “Everyone knows— Hey!”
Tumblr media
“There we go,” Tony said. “All better.”
“Tony was the one to send the missile up through the portal, successfully destroying the mother ship,” Y/N explained. “I closed the portal.” She looked at Tony, who met her eyes. “Luckily, we all came out of it alive.”
“Not all of us,” Clint commented. “We lost a good one that day. Phil Coulson.”
“Yeah… about that… Fury actually brought him back to life.”
“What?!” Natasha, Clint, Thor, and Steve exclaimed. The four quickly noticed at Bruce and Tony weren’t phased.
“Did you two know about this?” Natasha asked.
“Yes,” Bruce answered, “but only because it was vital. We were helping Skye—“
“Daisy,” Tony and Y/N corrected together.
“—and Y/N with their new found powers. Phil was a big part in that.”
“Those missions… that base you would talk about… SHIELD suddenly resurfacing,” Steve mumbled, putting the pieces together. “You leaving to save your Team… You kept SHIELD and Coulson alive, right under our noses.”
“Again, I was only doing what was right,” Y/N defended herself. “We saved the world countless more times than anyone even realized, including the other heroes in this room…. Coulson’s team is the reason we found Loki’s scepter. And in Sokovia, the helicarrier Fury brought was from Coulson. He had found it and patched it back together.”
“Sif,” Thor whispered. “She was so very vague about the two times she was down here.”
“She was keeping the secret. If people knew that Coulson was alive, it would have changed the game.”
“How did he survive?” Natasha asked.
“It was called the TAHITI Program. Fury directed Coulson to head it. It was meant for a fall of an Avenger. To bring them back if anything were to happen in battle. After years of trials, it was disbanded. The side affects were awful… but then Coulson died. And Fury couldn’t accept that.”
“Who else knew?” Steve asked.
“Besides Fury, Tony, Bruce, Sif, and myself,  Maria Hill, our SHIELD teams, and many government officials worldwide. Including President Ellis.”
Steve scoffed. “All the secrets,” he muttered, shaking his head. “This is getting ridiculous.”
“Where is Phil now?” Natasha asked. “Did he survive?”
“He died right before the Blip,” Y/N answered. “Complications from the TAHITI Program and other things that had happened… Please don’t be angry. I understand that it seems like I’ve kept some big things from everyone. But you have to try and understand it from my point of view.”
Everyone was silent, not knowing what to say. Y/N stood in the front of the room, preparing for the attack on her. But it never came. Steve stormed out and the others from the original team followed, including Tony and Bruce. Y/N closed her eyes, trying to keep herself calm.
“I know that I’m new here and don’t know much,” Scott said, standing up to go to Y/N. “But I know that you have a good heart. And that you were only trying to protect everyone.”
She looked at him with a tight-lipped smile. “Thank you, Scott.”
~~~
“It’s just one thing after another with her!” Steve exclaimed. “Is everything a lie? It’s like I don’t even know who she is anymore!”
“Steve, I think we need to stay calm and look at this from her said,” Natasha said. “She has been trying to protect everyone, except herself. The whole time she was going from fight to fight without much of a break.”
“It’s true,” Tony agreed. “I personally witnessed the wear and tear it did to her.”
“When she got shot after SHIELD fell, was that because of Coulson?” Steve asked, marching up to Tony.
“It wasn’t because of Coulson. It was because someone on her team ended up being HYDRA.”
Steve ran a hand down her face. “I don’t know where the lies stop and the truth begins.”
“She never actually lied to you,” Natasha brought up. “She told you what she could and kept the rest to herself. To protect everyone.”
“She still should have told us about Coulson,” Clint spoke up. “He was important to all of us.”
“Coulson and Fury specifically instructed her that the team not know,” Tony explained. “She actually got in trouble for telling me and Bruce.”
“But again we had to know,” Bruce said. “Y/N and Skye—“
“Daisy.”
“—had suddenly gained powers. If anyone was going to be able to help them, it was going to be us.”
“I need some time to think,” Steve said, walking away.
“We really shouldn’t be focusing on this right now,” Bruce sighed, shaking his head. “We should be focusing on the Stones. What Y/N kept from us is not the priority.”
“As long as she tells us any other information that could be of use to us,” Natasha said.
“She will,” Tony promised.
“I can’t imagine she’s taking this well,” Clint mentioned.
“She’s not really showing very much, trying to keep it all in. But I don’t blame her. Steve’s been going after her since he got out of the ice.”
“It’s hurting both of them,” Natasha said. “It’s like they want it to be how is was before the ice. Yet, they both have changed.”
“I don’t think Steve’s willing to see it the most,” Bruce added. “It’s going to tear them apart when we need them to work together the most right now.”
“Together, they can be one of the best teams.”
Tony sighed. “Let’s finish getting the information on the Stones. Then we can worry about the rest of it.”
~~~
They all gathered back together to go over more about the Stones. They finished all the new on the Tesseract and Space Stone before moving to the Mind Stone. It was hard to talk about that one, since Vision was a big part of it.
“Where’s Vision now?” Scott asked.
“We brought him back to the Compound, but the Accords and his own will forced us to give his body to an organization called SWORD,” Natasha explained. “They were forced to dismantle him because of the Accords.”
“We were too late in getting him to Wakanda,” Bruce explained. “So there was no way to bring him back without the Stone.”
“Hopefully that the only permanent casualty we take from all this,” Tony commented, bringing Y/N closer to his side.
“That wasn’t the only life lost,” Nebula said. “My sister, Gamora, she died too.”
They took on the Soul Stone next. There was very little information on it besides what Y/N and Nebula knew.
“Thanos found the Soul Stone on Vormir,” Nebula explained.
Tumblr media
“What is Vormir?” Natasha asked, taking notes.
“A dominion of death, at the very center of Celestial existence. It’s where… Thanos murdered my sister.”
Tumblr media
Everyone sat there awkwardly, and saddened. Not knowing what to say or do.
“Not it,” Scott said, breaking the awkward silence.
“Y/N,” Steve called, in this stern Captain voice. “Do you know anything about the Soul Stone that could possibly help us?”
“I know that it is a very power Stone in its own right. With it I was able to conjure the spiritual representation of those who are dead.”
“What?” A few gasped. Tony reached over and grabbed her hand.
“I saw…” She paused, swallowing her emotions down. “I saw my unborn son, AJ, my parents, and Phil Coulson.”
“Our parents?” Steve questioned. Y/N responded with a simple nod. “How could you not tell me?”
“At the time we weren’t talking, and it never came up later.”
“I can’t—“
“Guys,” Natasha stood up in the middle, placing herself between the siblings. “Stop fighting. We have something bigger we need to focus on, and if you can’t see that you both can leave.”
“I’m not the one with the problem,” Steve growled.
Holding the tip of her tongue between her teeth, she silently watched Steve. She was trying to put her thoughts together when Tony decided to speak up.
“Seriously, Rogers, cut the bullshit,” Tony said. “I get you’re probably hurt that she never told you anything. But that doesn’t give you the right to make her your personal emotional punching bag. Crap happened and she didn’t tell you, but she’s telling you now.”
“You know…” Y/N began slowly. “I miss the days when it was you, Bucky, and I against the world. Just like you do. The days you trusted me and didn’t doubt me, no matter what… you blame this all on me, Steve? Fine! But communication is a two way street. Just remember that. I’m not the only one that’s kept secrets. Like the one about Howard and Bucky.” That left Steve silent. “I’ll be in the other room, trying to put a plan together if anyone needs me.” She left.
“Go work out some energy, Steve,” Natasha suggested. “We’ll take it from here.”
~~~
Tony found Y/N laying on a table with FRIDAY talking to her about the Time Stone.
“Mute,” Tony ordered, coming into the room.
“If you’re here to talk about Steve, I’m not listening,” Y/N responded, looking at the ceiling.
“I figured. That’s why I came to join you and help.” Tony leaned over Y/N and gently kissed her.
“Uh, guys,” Bruce broke in before the couple could get heated. They turned to see Bruce and Nat standing in the doorway. “We just came to see if you needed any help. Everyone else needed a break.”
“Help would be great,” Y/N responded.
Tony crawled up onto the table, sitting by Y/N, while Y/N sat up. Bruce and Nat came in further and the four of them began going through everything they knew about the Time Stone and trying to form the most logical plan to collect the Stones. After of few hours of nothing coming together, Tony and Y/N were back laying on the table. Bruce was laying on the floor with Natasha leaned up against him.
“That Time Stone guy…” Natasha began again.
“Doctor Strange,” Bruce corrected.
“Yeah, what kind of doctor was he?”
“Ear-nose-throat meets rabbit from a hat,” Tony answered, spinning his glasses in one hand while rubbing his eyes.
“Something neuro,” Y/N clarified.
“Nice place in the village, though,” Bruce added.
“Yeah,” Tony agreed. “Sullivan Street.”
“Hmmm… Bleecker.”
“Wait, he lived in New York?” Natasha wondered.
“No. He lived in Toronto,” Tony scoffed. “Were you even paying attention?”
“Guys, if you pick the right year, there are three Stones in New York.”
Bruce sat up in surprise saying, “Shut the front door.”
The team was quickly gathered and Y/N explained the best points for them to go.
“Okay, we will retrieve the Soul and Power Stones in space 2014; the Reality Stone on Asgard in 2013; and the Space, Mind, and Time Stones in New York City in 2012,” she told them, pulling the information up on the screens.
“Now all we need are to assign the teams,” Tony stated.
“I’ve sketched out a plan and would like to get everyone’s opinions.”
They all glanced Steve’s way, waiting for the Captain to say something. He simply glared, arms crossed over his chest.
“Shoot,” Clint encouraged, when Steve didn’t speak up.
“So, due to certain knowledge of events, I believe that we need to try and stick to our own timelines, even though it could be dangerous,” Y/N explained. “We know our own timelines best. Where to avoid, where the Stones would be found, all that jazz. With that in mind, I was thinking Thor would go to Asgard, Rocket and Nebula would go to space, and the rest of us would go to New York.”
“The teams need to be evened out,” Steve spoke up, not impressed.
“I was just getting to that. I was going to see if anyone was going to volunteer to retrieve any of the Stones. I believe we need at least two people on each mission. And remember, the space mission is actually two separate missions.”
“I’ll go with Thor,” Rocket offered. “I think I could probably help the best there.”
“Thank you Rocket.”
“I can go with Nebula,” Rhodey said. “I’m not familiar with any of the spots, so I might as well.” Y/N nodded in agreement, making a note of it.”
“I should stay in 2012,” Tony said. “Being back in the Tower, I might have to break into JARVIS.”
“Agreed,” Y/N.
“I’ll stay in 2012 as well,” Steve said. “I also think Scott could be a good asset with us as well.”
“Sounds great,” Scott nodded along.
“Bruce, I was thinking that you and I could go and speak to the Ancient One and get the Time Stone,” Y/N suggested. “I have a feeling it will take some convincing to take the Stone from her.”
“Okay,” Bruce agreed.
“That leaves Clint and Natasha. Since you guys are a good team, how do you feel about hitting up Vormir for the Soul Stone?”
The two looked at each other and nodded, before looking back at Y/N.
“We can do that,” Clint said.
“Awesome,” Y/N responded. “Now we just need specifics for each mission. Break off into teams and use the information to create a specific plan.”
Everyone split off and created plans for their team. Coming back together, each plan was explained.
“Alright,” Steve claimed the attention once the final plan was laid out, “we have a plan. Six Stones, three teams. One shot. Take the night to get things together and rest, we’ll meet up and head out in the morning.”
Pranks, Horns, and Tony
Warning: Tickle Fic, birds, spiders, pranking,
Ppl: Loki, Tony, You
Words: 2254
Summary: You and Loki are known fir your pranks, and your both left alone in the compound together whole the avengers are on a mission.
--------
It was another day in the compound, you had been living with the avengers for almost a year now and seemed to get along with the very mischievous God Loki.
You were both quite young- well sorta. If he were a human he'd be a couple years older than you but that's fine, you both got along splendidly.
You would read books together, play pranks together, be on each others sides and he'd always be there for you even if he wouldn't show the other avengers. Though they all knew you both had a special bond, Thor especially knew because whenever he'd take you to asgard or Loki to Earth you'd both have bright smiles and go somewhere to cause havoc.
Thor didn't really mind though, it just meant he'd get to bombard you both with tickles afterwards.
Yesterday Loki and Thor had come to visit again and would be staying for a couple of days. You and Loki caught up a little and read your books whilst keeping each other company. Today is when the true mischief would start, all the avengers would be going out and you and Loki would be left alone in the compound for a couple of hours so you both were planning pranks for the others.
"Alright y/n, we'll be back in a couple of hours. Don't burn down the house while we're gone okay?" Steve teased as he gave you a hug.
"Yes, and Brother, do not cause any havoc." Thor told Loki, only to be answered by a shrug and a smirk.
"Brother I'm the God of Mischief, what more must you expect?"
"Well then when we come back I'll be the God of Tickles, shall I, dear brother?" Thor asked, wiggling his eyebrows. Loki's face became a rosie red and crossed his arms whilst rolling his eyes.
You stood next to Loki and smiled at Thor with your hands behind your back, "we'll be good, have fun!" Thor nodded and all the Avengers left the compound for their mission.
Both you and Loki waited for there to be a silence that rang through the compound once everyone would have been gone. After a moment you both smirked and turned to one another.
You brought your hand to your face and showed Loki your intertwined fingers to show your face promise, Loki's smirk increased as he saw it.
"Ready to cause some mischief?" You asked him.
"It's in the name" he replied as you both began to run down the halls yo your first target.
You arrived at Bucky's room and looked around, "So, what's the plan here?" You asked the mischief maker himself. Loki walked around the somewhat messy room and found his way to the bed.
"A magnet, a large one. We'd place it under his bed and once he comes back and gets ready to sleep, in the morning he wouldn't be able to get out of bed!" Loki exclaimed, both of you began the process, both with large smirks on your faces.
Loki used his magic to lift up the mattress and keep it in the air whilst you both grabbed a large magnet from Tony's spare parts and placed it under the mattress bed. Loki then placed the mattress back on and the sheets were already messed to so he surely wouldn't notice?
Yeah, I don't know why Tony had a large ass magnet either, let's move on.
You and Loki both snickers at the idea of the prank and moved on to another victim.
For Sam you both collected a bunch of birds and locked them in his closet- with breathing holes obviously. One had pecked at Loki's hand causing him to curse which made you burst out laughing.
Steve's closet was now filled with a bunch of Rock concert shirts and IronMan shorts to pin the blame on Tony, Tony usually was in prank and tickle ears with Steve anyway so it wasn't that hard to believe he'd done it.
You both didn't dare do anything too crazy to Black Widow, so you both just stole a jacket each. She had incredible taste that woman. Loki stole a green jacket with some sort of fluffy collar and you stole a (f/c) leather jacket.
Clint's prank was the simplest, you both sprayed this fart spray into the vents and it STANK.
You both liked Bruce, well Loki wasn't as much of a fan but you all enjoyed reading so Bruce was safe from your havoc.
Wanda's room was all tidy, it smelt wonderful and honestly was your favourite room so you both decided to just put some spices in her bed to make her sneeze.
Vision's room was safe, only you'd both left a piece of gum next to his table with a note attached saying; 'Try this, Bruce and I were working on it. -Tony Stark'
Thor's room was one of the messier one, but he'd taken Stormbreaker out with him rather than Mjölnir, and by some sort of mirical you had all found out you could actually lift the weapon, so you took it and hid it away in a close vent that smelt of farts.
Turns out Clints prank was the most deadly as the whole place started to stink up making both you and Loki gag, and burst out with laughter.
Peter wasnt actually on the mission, nor was Scott but it was a Friday meaning they'd both be coming over for movie night. Plus Peter would be staying the weekend so why not torture him? Even if they were some of your best friends, they werent safe from the mischief makers.
You came up with the idea of hiding spiderman Peter's room, you were terrified of them though so you made Loki do so.
"Wait so Parker's afraid of Spiders?"
"Yeah, I don't really get it either-"
"Pffft, here you want a spidey y/n?" Loki chuckles whilst taunting, shoving a spider in your face as you screamed and jumped into the wall.
"LOKI PISS OFF!"
Loki howled with laughter and placed the last spider down. You both left and did the same with Scott's room but rather than spiders you placed all the ants you could find on his bed.
Last but not least Loki lead you to Tony's Lab where he would be working on all his suits and other personal projects. Its not the main lab but it wasnt too far off, just smaller and more personal so that he could work at night or alone.
You both entered while snickering to yourselves, it had been an hour and a half since they'd all left and you both should gave at LEAST 30 minutes. But hoped you'd have an hour. It wouldn't take long anyway.
"So what's the plan?" You asked Loki.
You both saw an IronMan head on his desk and smirked at one another, knowing that would be your target. Maybe jello inside the helmet? Maybe slime? Maybe hiding it? Repainting it?
"Here, I've got these horns that we can lazer on the front" Loki smirked while taking out two golden horns like his own on his head but separated to be put on a helmet.
You didn't really mind it was a mainly Loki thing, it just meant he'd get in trouble and not you for this. You werent per say throwing him under the bus, but you werent gonna bring it to his attention.
You both walked over to get ready to melt a horn on each, Loki grabbed some sort of tool and started the first one. You stood behind him and watched over his shoulder, you admired the small things,about how Loki's greesy hear was tired up into a man bun before he'd started working on it, and how he squinted one eye to concentrate with his tongue sticking out. It made you giggle.
"I'm almost done..." you watched as he'd almost finished it, both of you concentrating hard on the hand ship.
"Oh hey kiddo's"
You both jumped out of your skin, Loki fell off the chair and part of his hair came out, laying on the floor he turned to see who was talking, you on the other hand jumped and slowly turned around with a nervous smile.
The one and only Tony Stark stepped out of his suit, adjusting his watch as he stepped out.
"So, what are you both up to?" he asked, his lips scrunched inwards and his hands on his hips.
Both of you were silent until Loki began getting up and dusting himself off.
"Nothing, we were just about to leave" You noticed something about him, Loki that is. Something seemed different, and rightly so. You glanced behind you to see the real loki grab the helmet but sink down so he couldn't be seen.
"Oh good, I really cant have you both in here, off you go then."
Tony dismissed the two of you and you both left for ths door, and while he wasnt looking Loki diverged into his clone again but now holding the helmet.
Right before the two of you had reached the door, his suit came speeding past and covered the exit.
'Shit' was the only thing you could both think of. Neither of you turned around to see where or what the billionaire was doing, but you heard him.
"Wait a moment, wheres my helmet? Oh and Loki,I think you left something" Loki and you both turned around, Loki with his hands behind his back,obviously hiding something. Tony stood right in front of him,holding the other horn to his face with a wide smirk.
Quickly the suit begins you both snatched up the helmet and yourself as Tony pounced on the God of Mischief, his hands at his sides, wiggling his fingers all over.
Loki yelped and began lightly chuckling at the fingers that were tickling him, trying to step back but only into closed doors. He tried to use his hands to block the attack but Tony was having none of it.
"Sir I have the helmet and y/n, it seems they were moulding the horns onto it." Friday explained.
"Ohhh, so you were doing something? I thought you were the god of mischief? Not the God of lies?" Tony taunted, as he squeezed the puny gods sides, then quickly moved to a death spot, his hips. Squeezing tightly and vibrating his hands and fingertips causing Loku to fall down the wall with laughter.
"NoHoho!!!! Damn it StArarK!!!!" Loki yelled as he tried to force Tony's hands off him. Though he was incredibly weak from the torturous tickles.
It was a usual sight, Thor was usually tickling his younger brother for some reason or another, its what older brothers are fir though right? Loku would become a blushing screaming mess but he'd never learn. Same goes for you though, everyone in the compound knew your little weakness and would use it against toy for anything. Your laughter was just too cute!
As Tony abused Loki's sides and hips, he ordered Friday to put the helmet on the desk and tickle you. You squealed because as much as you enjoyed tickling, you couldn't never stand it when the robots tickled you. It was rare but in cases when Tony needed an extra set of hands, well he got em'.
The suit held you up and began using a vibrating simulation Tony had recently installed on the hands for some reason and placed them on your ribs whilst holding you in the air. And as this tickled you, because it did t seem like enough the suit also used it's big fingersto scrape and squeezed the insides of your armpits.
You kicked and squealed at the top of your lungs, trying to escape. Somehow being held in the air seemed much worse, and the vibrating cause you to laugh harder and harder when random electric bolts went through your skin.
After around 15 minutes Tony had both you and Loki in piles of laughter on the floor, weak and begging. Well you were begging, Loki was threatening.
"LEHEHET OFFFF! HAHAHHH IHIGIM GONNA KIHIHILL YOU!"
"Okie Doki horny. First let me do this and I'll let you go."
Tony lifted up Loki's lime green shirt and blew the largest raspberry right above his belly button. An inhuman screech came from Loki as he curled in on himself and howled with laughter from ghostly tickles and squeezes.
"As for you" Tony taunted as he walked over to you, you were not on the floor, twisting and turning to get away from this oncoming attack and the tickles. The suit held your hands above your head as Tony brought up your shirt to reveal your belly button.
"PLEHEASE DONT TOHONY!"
Tony looked up at you and smirked, "We all know you love it" and blew right on your belly button. Your laughter went silent and you melted into the floor as both let off.
Tony laughed at you both in giggly messes on the floor.
"I came back early, and the others will be back soon too. So I suggest you both go clean up your messes before you get something worse" Tony suggested as he walked over to his desk to suspect the iron helmet you'd worked on. You and Loki had now recovered- partly- from the attacks and took in what he said.
But it was too late, everyone heard birds chirping and Sam screaming.
"WHERE ARE THEY?!"
Voiceless Love Chapter 9: Reunited
Loki’s Route
Loki x reader
Word count: 2154
A/N: Hey everyone, I’m really sorry for how late this post is, but my family all got covid and I've been having a hard time with my depression so it took a lot out of me to write this especially since it’s a happy fluff piece and I feel like crap. The next chapter will be better, I promise.
Loki steps into the hallway, looking around and seeing no one. For the god of lies and mischief, he can’t tell if someone is playing a trick on him. He checks every corner of the castle and no one is chasing him down. Quickly, Loki rushes to his old room and changes into his everyday clothes. He looks at himself in the mirror, seeing how disheveled he looks in his clothes. Using his magic, Loki cleans himself up to look more presentable.
Nothing new has happened in the last four months. The castle looks the same, the same attendants are walking around. No one is batting an eye at him walking freely in the hallways. It’s as if Loki never left or was never imprisoned. Nothing distracts him, though. There is only one thing on his mind.
He walks straight to the Bifrost without stopping. Heimdall gives him a shocked look, but shakes it off when Loki asks to go to Earth. There’s no surprise to his request. Heimdall opens the bifrost and he is sure enough on Earth. Loki stands at the end of the hangar, looking into the glass windows on the tower. There’s no sight of you, but Steve and Nat are perched on the couch.
Steve looks over during mid sentence as sees Loki. He’s not sure at first if he’s real or some weird trick being played, but as soon as he sees Loki bow his head, there’s no doubt. Nat quickly turns around once realizing Steve is no longer paying attention to her words. She sees Loki too and stands up, heading straight for your door. She opens it to see you and Bucky reading together, his arm around your waist, and knows this news is going to kill him.
“Y/N,” she gently speaks.
You look up from your book at Nat whose eyes are hard to decipher. There’s a little fear, yet excitement. Hope. Sorrow. You’re not sure what to make out of it and neither does Bucky. He doesn’t know if he should be worried or not. Nat wouldn’t even look at him.
“There’s someone here you need to see.”
You and the soldier get up immediately and follow Nat to the living space. Steve is standing as well as Tony, Thor, Clint, and Sam who are walking in. Looking around, everyone is staring at you with big smiles. You’re not sure what is going on until something shiny catches your eye off in the distance.
Loki gives you a large warm smile as you see him. He watches your face light up, grabbing onto Bucky’s sleeve and pulling. You sprint down the bridge and jump into Loki who has his arms open wide. He chuckles as he falls backwards, swinging you around from the waist. You laugh so hard as he sets you down and holds your head in his hands. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you two stand there for a couple of minutes just staring at one another with big grins on your face until Loki moves in close to kiss you.
Like a man finding water after crawling through the desert, you feel rejuvenated. His lips on yours was a feeling you were too deprived of. His sweetness. The softness. The tenderness. The way he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you into his body. It all feels perfect and right and whole again.
The team all staring at you two holding each other and smiling. Thor has never seen his brother so happy before, looking at you like nothing else matters. Loki’s eyes light up when they see you and there’s nothing in his brain but you. He has seen Loki with the other asgardian girls when he was coming of age, noticing them more and vice versa. He would entertain their flirting and often flirt back, but he was never interested. As soon as the girls would move on, he’d be back to his normal self: reading with a pissed off expression on his face.
But when he looks at you, nothing else matters. Holding you in his arms is the thing he’s been longing for. Loki kisses you again, holding your jaw and lifting you to him.
“Oh, how I have missed this,” he coos.
“I missed you more.”
“I don’t think that’s possible,” he laughs.
He holds you tight again before taking your hand in his. He walks down the hangar to the door where everyone is smiling. There’s no doubt Bucky is dying inside, watching you with Loki once again, leaving him. Yet, there is a large smile across his face without any pain being hidden inside. He can’t lie to himself that as much it hurts to see you with Loki again, you were happy with him, truly happy. There was a point he knew that no matter how hard he tried, your heart would always be with Loki.
“How are you?” Steve whispers.
“Fine,” he states.
“Is this going to be rough? Having Loki back?”
“It will, but I know they belong together. I’ll accept it someday.”
Steve nods looking at Bucky. There is no pain behind his eyes, no sorrow behind his smile. He looks back at you and Loki who are hanging on each other’s arms like a lost puppy and a kind human.
“I do need to borrow Y/N for a moment, so please excuse us as we catch up,” Loki pardons.
He pulls your hand in the direction of his room and everyone rolls their eyes, fully well knowing what’s going to happen. As soon as the door shuts behind you, Loki pins you against the door and starts attacking your mouth with his. You giggle at how he grabs your waist and pulls you close to him, as if you can’t be any closer. He places his hands on your ass and hoists you up, wrapping your legs around him.
You hear him turn around before he breaks the kiss and throws you on the bed. You giggle as you bounce a little, laying in the untouched bed. Loki smiles above you as he snaps his fingers and makes both of your clothes disappear. You cover yourself, shocked by the sudden nudity. He climbs over you, taking in the sight of your body as he does, and kisses you again, but this time it’s slow and passionate.
“Oh, how I’ve waited for this.”
He captures your lips again.
“Oh, how I’ve missed you.”
Loki leans down and leaves pecks on your neck, going downwards to between your breasts. You let out an airy moan as he lightly bites on your supple skin. Then, you feel a deeper clench as he sucks above your nipple, leaving a deep purple hickey. He looks down at his work and smiles proudly.
“I’ve waited so long to make you mine, little one. Now, I’m never letting you go.”
“I’ll never leave.”
He groans at your words before kissing you again and humping into you. Loki takes your hand in his and places it on his hard erection. You keep kissing as you slowly move your hand up and down his shaft. He lets go a moan in your mouth, making you buckle your hips up from the arousal and vibrations. Loki leans back and chuckles at your plea, taking his cock and lining it up between your folds.
“You ready, darling?”
You nod your head enthusiastically. Loki slowly enters you, letting you adjust to his size and he sinks in. You’ve had your share of boyfriends and a one night stand here and there, but nothing compares to his size. He is a god after all. There’s a slight pain as he enters, stretching you around his length. He stops every so often and lets you adjust before going balls deep. You reach out and holds his bicep to keep you centered. Breathing heavily, you give him the go to start moving. There’s nothing rough about Loki. He doesn’t pull out and slam back into you, but he moves at a slow agonizing pace.
“I want to make love to you, little one. I want to cherish this.”
He leans down and wraps his arms around you, slowly thrusting in. You wrap your arms around his neck as he leans in for a passionate kiss. It’s slow and sweet. He nips on your lower lip a little, making you giggle. He smiles at the sound of you, enjoying him and his body. He’s quite proud of himself and the way he can make you come undone around him.
After a little bit, you feel the orgasm making its way through you. It’s breathtaking as you cum all over his cock. You feel as if you’re floating on a cloud in heaven. As you lean into him, Loki attaches himself to one of your nipples, slightly biting and sucking on it. The sensation of his tongue against you adds to the orgasm, making it sweeter and more intimate.
Loki staggers in his speed and goes a little faster. You can tell he’s close at the way he staggers and is inconsistent. He lets out a loud deep groan as he cums inside of you. His fingers dig into your skin deeper, leaving marks on your lower back. He falls on top of you panting and holding you closer. You take in a deep breath and wrap your arms around him before he leans up and looks at you.
His hair is plastered to his face from his sweat. He smiles down with the sweetest grin you have ever seen. Pushing a piece of your hair to the side, he leans down and kisses you deeply, not letting go of his hold on you.
“I have waited so long for that.”
“So have I.”
-
You wake up the next morning with an ache and sticky feeling between your thighs. A second  passes as you wonder what happened, but you feel something rustle behind you. Loki grabs onto you, pulling you closer to him, and nuzzling his nose in your neck. His body next to yours reminds you it wasn’t a dream. He is actually there with you. You lean in closer to his touch.
“Goodmorning,” you whisper.
You can’t make out what he says, but Loki mumbles into your neck, making you giggle. Your turn around to face him and he gives you an unhappy look.
“What’s that face for?” you laugh.
“You keep moving.”
“Sorry, I wanted to see you. It’s been too long so I’m taking advantage.”
He gives you a weak smile, “Oh darling, you don’t have to explain. After all, you weren’t the one in prison.”
“I felt like I was.”
Loki tucks a strand of your haid behind your ear as he gazes into your eyes.
“You really are beautiful.”
There’s a moment where you two stare into each other's eyes lovingly. He holds your jaw in his hand, stroking your cheek with his thumb. You’ve never thought about it before, but you just now notice how blue his eyes are. They’re piercing like the sky on a warm summer’s day. Loki smiles at the way you lose yourself in thought.
“What is going through your little head?”
“Your eyes.”
He chuckles before adjusting himself so he is closer to you, “Is that all?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, little one, have I ever told you about my species?”
“Like… being asgardian?”
“No, I was adopted, actually. I am originally from Jotunheim, or Utgard. I don’t remember it, being that I was a baby when it was destroyed, but I heard it was beautiful. Well, Jotunheim was home to the giant gods, which is what I am. My father enchanted me, if you will, to look like other Asgardians so no one would know I was adopted. He and Frigga passed me as one of their own for a long time, until I found out. Well, my eyes are not the blue-est part of me. My skin is actually the most blue part of me.”
“Can you show me?” Loki looks around for a moment to make sure no one is peeking at them through the door. He closes his eyes and focuses really hard. All of a sudden, his skin starts turning into an icy pale blue, brighter than anything you’ve seen. When he opens his eyes, they no longer look as striking as they did.
You run your fingers along his skin which is significantly colder than it was moments ago, shocking you a little. Loki’s eyes wander your face for any sign of fear or hesitance, but all he sees is loving wonder. How could anyone love him when he looks like a freak? A monster? Different from everyone else and the girl who is scared to speak to people loves him.
“Normally people run out… screaming, but you-”
“I thought I’ve proved myself different,” you say.
“You have. You’ve proved yourself very different… and I love that.”
ive been LOVING yonder and also 👀👀👀 your stevenat Hints, would you ever consider writing outright fic for 'em/talking abt your thoughts on the ship (at least?) ? anyway thanks for all your Everything, youre a staple of my dash and i love seeing everything you make ❤
(this has been in my inbox for a while because it came in just before I went to bed and I left it for a bit because I knew I was going to get wordy, so apologies for the much delayed response.)
I don't tend to write really shippy fic because I tend to write very plot-heavy and the ships are mostly an element of that rather than the central focus. So likely in the future anything I write that deals with Natasha and Steve is likely to have them together in some way or building to it or something (depending on when it's set, because I actually have quite a firm headcanon on When Things Happened, at least in the main timeline), but it's probably never going to be, like, a romance fic. (Especially because I'm still pretty Asgardian-focused.)
As for thoughts on Steve/Nat...a while ago I said something about how I usually have two kinds of ships -- the "we'll ruin ourselves for each other, love of our lives" kind of ship and the "we're best friends who have each other's backs and occasionally have sex" kind of ship. (There's some crossover between the two in my shipping, of course.) Steve has a couple of people who fit into the category of the first one -- Bucky for sure, Peggy going by Endgame (oof). And I don't say "ruin ourselves for each other" in a bad way, it's just a very different ship dynamic than the other one. Less...fraught, I guess? More like "we'll ruin each other and potentially the universe," because the consequences go beyond these specific people. Steve and Nat are in the latter category (for me) -- and I don't say this in a dismissive way at all or to imply that they're less important to each other than the world-ending pairings! (It may just be that I'm honestly worn out by the former right now, even though it's a dynamic I like a lot.)
this next bit got long and is mostly about Natasha so I'll put it behind a cut
I put this into that last chapter of Yonder, during the scene with Natasha and Yelena, but it's kind of key to the way I see Natasha and Steve so I'll quote it here:
She hesitated, then admitted, “I was tired of doing the spy thing, the shadow thing, even for SHIELD. I wasn’t actually supposed to be part of the Avengers Initiative originally.”
“No?” Yelena said curiously. “That’s not what all the news articles say.”
“Well, they leave out a lot. Fury brought me in because of Clint and – well, Loki, originally, back then. I think he was also curious about how Steve would react to a pretty face.”
Yelena snorted. “He seems like the kind of man who likes women who can beat him up, superpowers or not.”
Natasha decided not to dignify that with a response. “Anyway, when he and Tony figured out that Loki was headed for New York, Steve came to me because I was the only SHIELD agent he knew besides Fury and Hill.” And Coulson, but that was too much to explain just now. “So Clint and I went to New York with him.”
“I know, I’ve seen the footage,” Yelena said. “Fighting aliens.”
“Yeah, the first time.” Natasha tapped her fingers thoughtfully against the mattress before she went on. “It’s…different, when you’re just fighting, you know? When I was with the Red Room – or the KGB, SHIELD, any of the alphabet agencies – I was doing it in the dark, alone, for a lot of different reasons.”
“Yeah,” Yelena said quietly.
“When you’re doing it because you’re putting yourself between civilians and an enemy – between your world and an enemy – it’s different. And I liked that. I still like it. It felt…honest, in a way I didn’t know it could feel. After that I didn’t want to go back to doing the other thing again.”
(I know What If? suggests that Nat was considered for the Avengers Initiative originally but I have thought since 2012 that it was sheer chance she ended up an Avenger and I'm not going to stop now.)
Way back in The Avengers, Steve has no idea who the Black Widow is, he's only ever met Natasha Romanoff. Nat's opening scene, "the famous Black Widow"? Steve doesn't know about any of that. (And honestly, I don't think he'd care even if he did.) He takes Natasha as she presents herself to him, which I suspect Natasha isn't really used to, even amongst SHIELD -- there's a lot of interesting little testing back and forth between them in their first scene together on the helicarrier as they're both trying to figure each other out. (And I suspect if Steve had reacted more positively to Coulson's fanboying, it would have been Coulson going to Stuttgart with him instead of Natasha, or at least in addition to, but everyone found out that Steve doesn't particularly like the fanboying and stuck with Natasha alone instead.) At the point that he asks her to go to New York, he hasn't even seen her fight yet; he looked at her, read her in a very short period of time, and went "okay, this person wants to do The Right Thing and won't bother with the niceties if need be." Without an instant of hesitation. And throughout the Battle of New York they're gravitating towards each other without really having to talk about it very much, working with each other -- Steve essentially puts them on an equal footing when he's giving everyone their marching orders, the "you and me, we're on the ground." (And of course the "I could use a boost" scene.)
I think for Natasha the Battle of New York was a real turning point for her -- she's tired of doing the spy thing, the Black Widow in the dark thing. She's good at it, she can still do it, but she doesn't really want to anymore and I think she didn't really want to even before that, just didn't necessarily see another alternative until SURPRISE, ALIENS. Though while HOLY SHIT, ALIENS JUST INVADED EARTH is a world-altering shatterpoint for a lot of people, I don't think that the aliens aspect was for Natasha -- I think it was the "oh, I can do this in the bright light of day and it feels really different and really good" part of the Battle of New York that got to her. (Same with Steve, I don't think he even cares about the aliens, everything's equally nuts to him at this point.) I think she's struggling with that for most of the rest of the MCU -- I think that's a key point of why she's making certain decisions in TWS, CW, and even Black Widow, trying to figure out which part of that was the thing that really clicked for her. And because of the fact that it's Steve who immediately read her, came to a judgment, and trusted her to back him up that complicates matters -- you can see a bit of this in TWS, her expression after Batroc tosses that grenade at them and Steve's visibly pissed off at her. It's on the surface more in TWS, partially because she says it out loud -- the "who do you want me to be?"
Through TWS, CW, and BW -- uh, and Age of Ultron, I forgot it existed, whoops -- I think Natasha's pushing and poking about who she wants to be and who she is and what the parts of it that are her are. She's doing a lot of testing back and forth, what's what, what's right, is this real, do I keep this, do I get rid of it, isn't this the right thing to do? Can I trust my judgment? How about now? What about this thing? Now? Now? This? That? Yes? No? And she's still in that space at the beginning of BW, where she's thinking, okay, I'm taking myself off the board, what now, who am I when I'm alone in the dark -- and it turns out the person Natasha Romanoff is when she's alone in the dark is still an Avenger and still the person who'll do the right thing, which I don't think was something she was ever really one hundred percent of before. By IW she's certain, and I don't think -- in the MCU, as presented here -- she would have gotten to that point without Steve reading her in Avengers and saying, "hey. I recognize you. you're just like me. let's go punch aliens together." because they are! they're very, very much alike, different backgrounds notwithstanding
Omega Mine
TITLE: Omega Mine
CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: 12/?
AUTHOR: nekoamamori
ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Loosely based on: Imagine Loki discovers the Avengers have an omega who has healing powers living with them. He’s an Alpha and he wants her, badly.
RATING: M (eventually )
NOTES/WARNINGS:  Also on AO3 click here
You blushed at that tone coming from Loki.  You weren’t surprised that he would cheat to sit next to you.  He was your Alpha and it was only natural for him to want to be close, even if he hadn’t claimed you yet. The instincts were still there.  You both understood that you needed to know each other better, to make sure it was a good match before you succumbed to your instincts.
You’d never heard of instincts being wrong before and most Alphas and Omegas immediately gave in to those instincts and were happy together.  It was like a soulmate bond in mushy romance books.  Still, being careful didn’t hurt.
The team chatted together through dinner as usual.  It was like a big family.  Usually.  They were wary about Loki.  “So, Reindeer Games, why are you on Earth again?” Tony asked.  He was an Omega, but really didn’t act like it.  He was always willing to step up to the plate and poke anyone and anything to get a reaction.
Loki huffed and stiffened.  He looked so closed off and angry.  So you did what any good Omega would do.  You gave him a bright smile and drew his attention to you.  “I know your last trip to Earth wasn’t good, hopefully this one will be better,”
Loki stopped glaring at Tony to look at you.  His expression softened, though you saw chained sexuality in that gaze as well.  He wanted you, badly.  “I am quite sure it will be, Elskling,” he replied warmly to you.  He looked at the others and knew that he needed to answer Tony’s original questions.  “The Allfather refuses to believe that the events of the Chitauri attack were not my fault, despite the testimony of Thor and my mother.  He decreed that I be locked away for my ‘crimes’,”
“Wasn’t it your doing?” Tony pushed again.
You would’ve kicked him under the table if you could.  Especially when you saw the pain and haunted look in Loki’s eyes.  You reached over and laid your hand on top of Loki’s while Steve glared at Tony.  “Enough, Stark,” he said, his voice an Alpha growl.  You knew that Steve was still getting used to being an Alpha.  His Alpha aura flared more than he clearly intended at that order. Tony’s eyes glazed at the order from the strong Alpha.  At least he wouldn’t be causing more trouble for awhile.  Even he couldn’t go against such a direct order from such a strong Alpha.
Loki looked down at your hand on his.  He shifted his hand to take yours and squeezed it gently, clearly appreciating your small gesture to reassure him.  Thor looked surprised and you had the feeling that Loki didn’t usually like being touched.  Clearly, you were an exception to that.  That was to be expected.  Omegas were generally allowed casual touches to help calm and soothe those around them.
Loki looked back up to address the question.  “No, it wasn’t my doing.  I was abducted by Thanos, the mad titan and tortured.  He used the mind stone on me to force me to come here and attack Midgard in his quest for the Infinity Stones,” Loki explained, pain in his voice at the memories.
You saw the look in Bucky’s eyes too.  The same haunted look.  He had been tortured by Hydra, his mind and memories erased and scrambled so many times that he had trouble remembering what was real and what wasn’t at times.  He was still healing.  Loki was too.
“Mother fought for Loki’s release from the unjust punishment.  She is still working on getting him entirely off the hook, but Father allowed her to change Loki’s punishment.  He no longer has to spend his days in a cell and was allowed to come to Midgard to help make amends,” Thor explained to the team.  He had the demeanor that he always wanted to look out for his little brother. Though you could also tell that there was trouble in their relationship.
Once that explanation was out of the way, the team got to introducing themselves properly.  Clint and Bucky both accepted Loki’s story easily, both had been under mind control before.  Since Clint accepted it, Nat accepted it, though she remained a bit wary, mostly for your sake since you were unclaimed.  The rest treated him as a new member, which was the best anyone could hope for at the moment.
You told stories and chatted amongst yourselves as you ate, telling stories of missions, of battles that Asgardians had been in, letting Loki get to know them, their abilities, their past.  Loki relaxed, though seemed disinclined to let go of your hand.  That was alright.  You could eat with one hand.
“Are we having movie night?” You asked toward the end of dinner when there was a lull in the conversation.
The Alphas all turned their attention to you with fond smiles.  “Gladly,” Steve said warmly while the others all agreed quickly.  Movie night was a comfortable way that they could all spend the evening in your presence and soak up an Omega’s aura.  Tony and Bruce just didn’t give off the same aura, given their backgrounds.
“Movie night?” Loki asked you.
You nodded and smiled up at him.  “Do you have movies on Asgard?” You asked, unsure what his world did and didn’t have. He shook his head, looking curious, interested, and confused at all the Midgardian things he was going to have to learn about.  “It’s like a play that you can watch anytime,”
Loki considered that and nodded. “That could be entertaining,” he agreed.
The team predictably argued over what movie you would watch while the dishes were gathered to wash.  You got up and led Loki to the DVD shelf so you could look over movies with him and help him pick out which one he wanted to watch.  You saw his eyes light up at one.  “They have the story of Hiccup and Toothless?  It was my favorite book as a child,” he said with childish glee in his eyes.
You grinned and pulled it off the shelf.  “They do.  It’s one of my favorites,” you told him brightly.  “Though I’ll be curious as to how this version is different than the one you know,”
Loki summoned an old leather-bound volume in a shimmer of green magic.  He waved a hand over it with another shimmer of green magic before he handed it over to you.  “Now you can read the original for yourself.  I translated it into English for you,” he said warmly, with a look in his eyes that he was proud to be able to do something to please his Omega.
You accepted the ancient volume with reverence.  “Loki… this is amazing.  Are you sure I can borrow it?” It looked old and precious, though it was perfectly well cared for.  Your fingers traced the leather cover and you somehow resisted the urge to smell the pages.  At least not in front of Loki.  Old books just had the very best smell.
“Yes, Elskling,” he replied in a purr, glad you were pleased.  You vanished the book to safety so you could read it later.
“Did you two pick a movie?” Nat asked as she and the rest of the team started to file into the common room.
You nodded, but before you could answer her, you all jumped as the tower alarm started blaring.
A moment later, you found strong arms around you as Loki hauled you to him, hissing softly like a puffed-up, affronted cat.  His battle armor shimmered into existence and he held you securely to his side, his cape over you, to shield you from view and protect you as he summoned his weapon.  It was an Alpha’s instinct to protect their Omega and Loki had acted without even thinking.
MCU: Loki and Midgardian clothes
So, I’ve seen some fans wondering how could Loki fix Mobius’ tie since Asgardians clearly do not wear ties…
…and it made me wonder ‘is this a mistake or Loki was actually familiar with Midgardians clothes?’
So let’s start with the sources at our disposition to answer this question.
SOURCES MENTIONED:
Movies: “Thor” (2011), “The Avengers” (2012), “Thor – Ragnark” (2017)
Series: “Loki” [More exactly a scene from: “Marvel Studios' Loki | Official Trailer | Disney+”] (2021)
Comics: None mentioned
Direct-to-video animated film: None mentioned
Motion comics: None mentioned
Books: “The Art of Thor” (2011), “The art of The Avengers” (2012), “The Art of Thor: Ragnarok” (2017), “Marvel Studios: All your questions answered” (2018)
Novels: “Thor: Ragnarok - The Junior novel” by Jim McCann (2017)
Webs: None mentioned
Others: “Thor” old movie script
Okay, now we can start.
So, as weird as it might seem at first, the second answer, which is that Loki is familiar with Midgardian modern attires, might be the intended one, right from “Thor”.
Let’s go back to that movie.
Thor is clearly unfamiliar with present day Midgard as a whole, and so are his friends.
We’ve various moments in which Thor shows he’s unaware of present day Midgardians customs, like when he can’t realize he’s in doctors’ care and thinks they’re attacking him (in a deleted bit, when they tell him they’re trying to help him, he demands they bring him healing stones, showing he has no idea how Earth’s healing system work), or when he breaks a glass asking another believing he’s showing appreciation for the drink, or when he enters in a pet shop, demands a horse and when they tell him they’ve only dogs, cats, birds, demands one of them big enough to ride.
It doesn’t mean he never went to Midgard, in the movie there’s the implication he had been on Midgard before...
Thor: We're going to Jotunheim. Fandral: What? This isn't like a journey to Earth where you summon a little lightning and thunder, and the mortals worship you as a god. This is Jotunheim.
...and there was a cut scene in which he recognized being on Midgard and even calling it ‘Earth’.
Thor: Blue sky... one sun... This is Earth, isn't it?
And there’s another cut scene that says that yes, Sif and the Warriors Three had been on Earth… but a thousand years ago.
Volstagg: Is it just me, or does Earth look a little different to you? Sif: It has been a thousand years... Volstagg: Things change so fast here. You leave for a millennium, and it's like the whole neighborhood's gone.
Now, Loki was a babe in 965 AD and “Thor” takes place in 2011. Sif likely doesn’t mean exactly 1000 years but, what’s more, we don’t know how exactly Asgardians age in the MCU.
Does their childhood last as much as ours and then their aging process slow down so as to allow them to live 5000 years? Or their aging process is proportionately all slowed down and they remains babes for years?
I tend to think their childhood is fast and then they have a slower aging process once they reach a certain age, but anyway this is irrelevant. Even if Loki visited Midgard 1000 years before and was familiar with its customs back then, well, things, as Volstagg points out, are changed a lot.
So… where do we can get an idea if Loki is familiar with Midgard or not?
When Loki goes to see Thor, he shows up dressed up in 21st century Midgardian attire.
Tumblr media
In “The Art of Thor” is said:
Said Craig Kyle, “Loki wants to look good, he’s a man of style… Loki actually has three looks, Thor has one.” In addition to the three costumes he wears in the otherworldy realm of Asgard, Loki also makes a brief appearance in a suit and tie. Said Tom Hiddleston, “When he turns up on Earth in the movie, [he’s] very GQ.”
(For who, like me, is not familiar with the term GQ, it is used to describe a guy who is dressed nicely, very sleek, or very sexy to the ladies, The term comes from the men's fashion magazine named GQ (=Gentlemen's Quarterly).)
They don’t really explains why Loki decided to dress up like that, but the fact he chose to is meaningful.
Loki was going to see Thor, and he only let Thor see him.
Tumblr media
He appears in the room Thor was, presumably after waiting for a while inside it but invisible since he complains about how he thought Coulson would never leave. When Coulson is back, Loki has magically disappeared again.
People doesn’t see Loki, not even when he tries to lift up Mjolnir.
Tumblr media
Long story short, Loki’s attire is not to disguise himself as a human among humans and walk among them unnoticed, as he just doesn’t let them see him at all, and if he were, his very fashionable outfit would likely draw more gazes than anything else (compare it with Coulson’s plain suit), especially when he tries to lift Mjolnir while all around it there are scientists dresses in scientist garbs and guards dressed in guard uniforms.
So we can see Loki didn’t need to dress as a human to see Thor, he could have very well gone there in his normal Asgardians clothes, like he does when he goes to visit Laufey...
Tumblr media
...though he could have forsaken the armour when visiting Thor, and just show up in his normal attire.
Instead Loki picked up a stylish Midgardian outfit to go meet his brother. Be it an illusion (more likely) or real clothes, Loki knew how a fashionable 21st century Midgardian would dress and decided to dress as such even though there was no need for it. This implies a familiarity with Midgard, or at least with its dressing style, which I genuinely doubt could have been a topic of study for Asgardians... even though Odin too was familiar with Midgardians attires as, when he bans Thor to Earth, he changes his clothes into modern, ordinary, definitely not fashionable Midgardian ones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Loki knows the secret paths between words, it can be he travelled to Midgard and, once there, grew to like the elegant style we have.
But yes, this doesn’t necessarily mean he could learn how to fix a tie, as his clothes might be an illusion.
The final bit of “Thor” is a bit of a confusing thing as it shows Loki (dressed in Asgardian clothes) invisible to other people’s eyes controlling Selvig...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...which is confirmed by “Marvel Studios: All your questions answered” which describes that scene as:
Loki controls Selvig as he examines the Tesseract.
If Loki had controlled Selvig for an extensive period he might have learnt to tie ties as Selvig wears one.
However, although this scene was created and directed by Joss Whedon, this scene is kind of forgotten when “The Avengers” rolls around.
In it Selvig is free from Loki’s control until Loki uses the sceptre with the mind stone to turn him into his servant.
Now… “The Avengers”.
The story starts by night, with Loki arriving in the S.H.I.E.L.D. research center in which Selvig is studying the Tesseract.
Natasha Romanov, Bruce Banner, Steve Roger and Tony Stark are all warned during night. It’s possible it’s the same night, maybe it’s the night after.
It’s full day when Steve Roger travels with Coulson. The following scene shows Loki remembering his talk with the Other and then we’ve Steve reaching the Helicarrier and meeting up with Natasha and Bruce.
Then Loki shows up at Stuttgart Museum again dressed up in 21st Century attire with his sceptre disguised as a cane. This time Loki is sort of disguising himself, as he’s actually planning to draw attention on himself but, at first, in a subtle manner so it makes sense he dressed up as a Midgardian to move among Midgardians so as not to alert common people but end up being tracked by SHIELD because they can see him on monitors and recognize him… something they wouldn’t be able to do had he been invisible.
Loki drops his disguise only later, after he has sent a holographic image of Dr. Heinrich Schafer’s eye to Barton. He confront with Steve and Tony and vanish his armour… remaining in Asgardian clothes. He’s short after taken by Thor, who then argues with Steve and Tony until Thor decides to get along with them and Loki is carried on the Helicarrier all in the same night.
Natasha takes care to inform us Loki killed 80 people in 2 days. This should mean Loki is on Midgard by two days.
Why all this is relevant?
Again Loki dressed up as a stylish Midgardian,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...his clothes similar to the ones he had in “Thor” yet vaguely different (in “Thor” the coat is green, in “The Avengers” black and the scarf motive is slightly different) and even knew that, in order to disguise the sceptre, he can’t mask it as, let’s say, a pitchfork but a cane. It’s true, since he’s been on Earth by 2 days, this time he could have gotten that knowledge by Barton or Selvig.
“The art of The Avengers” again doesn’t tell us much apart that:
“Joss and Kevin both wanted a different look for Loki in The Avengers, in part for the fans and in part to serve the story,” Visual Development Supervisor Charlie Wen said.” For Loki, his costumes evolved from the super-clean look of the Asgard from Thor to a much grittier and more lived-in look to show the changes he’s gone through since then.” “For Thor and Loki, much of our inspiration came from Jack Kirby’s original character designs,” Wen said. “Loki represent mischief. He is a cultured traveller.”
But, if we put clothes aside, Loki is also aware of how:
Loki: The humans slaughter each other in droves, while you idly threat. I mean to rule them. And why should I not?
It’s something Thor didn’t seem to know/realize.
This seems to imply Loki knows about Earth’s history or, at least, of its present situation. Yes, he might have had a crash course in history of Earth courtesy by Clint or Selvig, but he might have also learnt it by himself in trips on Earth since Odin didn’t seem interested in Earth beyond protecting it from some attacks from creatures from other realms (he helps against the Frost Giants, however he doesn’t seem aware of the Skrulls and Krees walking on its surface nor he cares to check what humans do with the Tesseract doing nothing when Red Skull uses it to produce weapons) so he might not have bothered having his son learning about Midgard’s history and situation.
The last time we see Loki dressed as a human is in “Thor: Ragnarok”.
In it his clothes are much more simple than usual as he only wears a black suit, no scarf, no coat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In “The Art of Thor: Ragnarok” there’s actually not one but 2 arts for more elaborate suits with coat but they were clearly discharged as Loki never wears them in the movie.
Tumblr media
“Thor: Ragnarok The Junior novel” which is based on an earlier script says:
They were dressed in regular Earth street wear – shirt and slacks – and Thor carried an umbrella. His hair was swept back into a ponytail. Loki’s magic was projecting an illusion onto the duo.
...which seems to imply the scriptwriter originally didn’t even think dressing Loki stylish… and anyway mostly focused on Thor... so it’s possible Loki’s attire in the movie is a compromise between the scriptwriter, who though to dress Loki in shirt and slacks, and "Thor: Ragnarok” Visual Development Supervisor Andy Park who wanted to put him in an elegant and stylish suit as the other Visual Development Supervisors had done.
Still, the scriptwriter too thinks Loki is aware of how, if Thor wants to keep an object in his hands, it has to look like something ordinary and how an umbrella can fit the bill. As it didn’t rain during Loki’s short permanence on Earth, the fact he knows umbrellas exist and is acceptable to carry them around seems to imply Loki has an idea of how Earth works.
So all this to say… yes, Loki might be more familiar with Earth than it looked like and he might have learnt how to make a tie or, at least, how to fix it since this is more what he seems to do in that scene in “Marvel Studios' Loki | Official Trailer | Disney+”
Tumblr media
We can only wait and see if “Loki” will give us more explanations about this scene or it will just toss it in and not bother to explain it at all.
Meanwhile I’ll have fun thinking before things went wrong Loki used to come on Earth and look up on fashion magazines and love the idea of how good he would look in such clothes that he began to dress up according to Midgard fashion style each time he got to set a feet on it.
A/N: Sorry I missed last weekend.  I’ll post another part to make up for it in a little bit.  Also the image header is not the reader  It’s Natasha (pretend the hair is red).  I also no longer do taglists if you would like to stay up to date on all my works please check out my sideblog @buckyismymainman
Tumblr media
Tony slung his arm around Bucky’s shoulders, “Why did you run out on lunch the other day?  You looked like the devil was on your tail.”
Bucky managed to remove Tony’s arm from around his shoulders and straightened his shirt, “I saw a new friend in town and she looked sad.”
“Oh?”  Clint perked up from his spot on the couch.  “Do my ears deceive me or did Bucky just say he was spending time with a woman?”
Steve rolled his eyes, “He was spending time with Y/N.”
All eyes were now on Bucky.  “You’ve met Steve’s mysterious new friend that none of us have ever heard of?”  Bruce had been begging Steve to let the group meet the girl, but Steve was still keeping her under wraps.  Now that they knew that Bucky had met and spent time with her they would never stop bugging Steve.
“It was completely by accident,” Steve said in a lazy tone.  “We were in town getting new clothes for her when I ran into Bucky.  He accompanied me and got to meet her.  It wasn’t as if I chose him out of all of you to meet her first.”
“What’s she like?”  Tony asked.
Bucky tugged at his collar and wished that he were anywhere but in Tony’s apartment right now.  “She’s sweet, a little shy, but she’s got this calming presence about her.  Also, everything seems to surprise and cause a sense of wonderment for her.  It’s almost as if she’s never seen these things before.”
“It’s just the new setting,” Steve said quickly.  “She’s never traveled this far from home before and it’s almost as if she’s traveled to a completely different planet.”
“Where did you say she was from again?”  Clint asked.
“Smeraldo, it’s an island that isn’t too far from here,” Steve cleared his throat and stood.  “I need to get going, I have to meet one of the ships at the docks to make sure everything with my shipment is all right before it leaves for Spain.  I’ll see you, gentlemen, later.”  With that, he excused himself and hurried to the docks and away from his friends’ scrutiny.
“He seems very peculiar about his friend,” Sam said, his eyes on the door where Steve had just hurried through.  “Almost as if he’s hiding something about her.”
“Maybe he is,” Thor said with a roguish grin.  “Maybe she’s on the run from someone or maybe she’s a spy who’s seeking refuge from someone who discovered her secret.”
Tony snorted, “You’ve been reading one too many books here lately, Thor.  I’m afraid that it’s filled your head with fantastical ideas about spies and crazy adventures that never happen.”
“What if she’s a mermaid?”  Clint grinned.  “You know how Steve always went on and on about mermaids.”
Sam groaned and leaned his head back against his chair, “Please, enough with the mermaids and the wild ideas.  She’s probably just some regular lady from this Smeraldo place and Steve just feels a little protective of her because of what happened last time.”
The room fell silent and the others looked down, all except for Bucky who was looking between his friends.  “What happened with Natasha?”  He had been too young when she had been around and he didn’t know the full story.  Steve never talked about her unless someone brought her up and asked him how she was doing.
His friends shared a look before Sam said, “We swore we’d never speak about it.”
Tony ran a hand through his hair, “He deserves to know, especially if Steve is going to be overprotective with Y/N.”
“Sam knows it better than the rest of us so he should be the one that tells it,” Clint said, glancing over at the older man with a concerned look.
Sam closed his eyes and knew that Bucky wasn’t going to let the subject go so he should tell Bucky before he said something to Steve and anger him.  “We all met Natasha around four years ago….”
Y/N was in the water with Natasha, they were swimming just off the coast of Steve’s beach together.  Natasha had come back that morning because she wanted to make things right with her friend and she wanted to explain a few things to the younger woman.
“First, I’m sorry for how mad I got the other day,” she was perched on the reef, her hands fiddling with a shell she had picked up.  “I shouldn’t have gotten so mad at you and tried to force you to do something that you didn’t want to do.”
“You’re right, you shouldn’t have,” Y/N replied with a frown.  “You don’t understand what kind of pressure I’ve been under since I found out that I was supposed to marry Loki.”
She nodded her head, “You’ve always been a free spirit and I can’t imagine that becoming queen would be appealing to someone like you.”
“It isn’t, and being forced to marry someone that I know I’ll never love as more than a friend isn’t a pleasant thought.  It’s not that I don’t think Loki will be a wonderful husband, it’s just that I don’t want him to be my husband.”
“He’s been searching for you, he’s worried.  He’s not mad and he’s talked his father down from marking you as a traitor before they know what’s happened to you.”
Y/N looked at her hands, “But I am a traitor.  I’ve chosen the land over the sea, I’ve chosen to remain a human for the rest of my days versus staying a mermaid and marrying the future king.”  She knew that if she were ever discovered in the village then she would be marked a traitor and be brought before the royal court.  There was no way that she would be spared, even if Loki understood and tried to pardon her.
“I wish there was something that I could do to help you,” Natasha said honestly.  “I wish there was some way to make them understand that it’s just a path you don’t want to take and that they could find someone better suited for Loki.”
Y/N knew the risk that Natasha was taking by coming to see her and having been the one that brought her to Steve’s in the first place.  “Natasha, I think it would be best if you didn’t come to visit me anymore.  If they find out that you were the one who took me here, that you’ve known where I was the entire time then they could lock you up for conspiring with me.  I should have never dragged you into my own problems.”
“You have nothing to apologize for,” Natasha took Y/N’s hands in her own and gave them a gentle squeeze.  “You’re my friend and I wanted to help you.”  She sighed and said, “There’s something that I need to tell you about my time with the humans.”  Y/N looked at her expectantly waiting to hear what had happened to her friend.  “When I was with Steve there was a man in the village that I fell in love with.  He was one of the reasons why I wanted to go to the human world so badly.  I wanted to be around him and love him.  Steve found me on the beach right as I shifted and offered to help.
“I told him about the man that I had seen and Steve took me into town once he had taught me how to walk properly in clothes and how to speak to humans.  Together we went into town and searched for the man I had seen so many times before.  I managed to find him and caught his eye and he approached me.  I spent most of the summer with him, falling in love and thinking that he was the one for me.  That was until I discovered he was betrothed.  It broke my heart when I saw the woman run into his arms, she had no idea that he had been spending his time with me.
“I confronted him about it, demanding to know why he was using me if he was with another woman.  He merely chuckled and said that I had just been easy because I had been so naïve to believe the lies he had fed me.  He used me and hurt me all because his fiancé wasn’t around to stop him from being with someone else.”
“That’s why you told me not to fall in love,” the realization dawned on Y/N as Natasha finished her story.
She nodded her head, “I just didn’t want someone to use you as he had used me.  That same night I went to his home with the plans of murdering him while he slept, but Steve followed me.  He knew how hurt and angry I was.  He knew that my trust had been broken.  He stopped me before I could do anything and I returned to the ocean that very same night, never to return again.”
“Steve misses you,” Y/N said.  I know you don’t want to risk running into this man, and I can understand why, but Steve seems lonely and he had his friend Bucky do this picture of a mermaid.  I think it’s meant to be you.”
Natasha dropped her head, “I know, I saw it the other day, but I didn’t say anything about it.  And I know I should see him more because he misses me and I miss him as well, but it’s still too soon.”
“Just visit him more, I think it would make him happy,” Y/N said before glancing up toward the surface.  “I should get back.  It’s getting late and Steve told me that the boys are coming over for dinner later.  They’re eager to meet me.”
Natasha chuckled, “Ah the gang still comes over for Friday night dinners, tell them I said hello.”
“You could tell them yourself,” Y/N prompted.  “It’d be nice to have someone else there besides Steve and Bucky.”
“I don’t know,” Natasha said hesitantly.
“Please?”  Y/N pouted and batted her eyes at Natasha which caused her friend to laugh.
“Fine!  I’ll come, but I’m leaving as soon as the others are gone.”
The two of them swam back to shore and Steve was surprised when Natasha walked into the dining room wearing one of her older dresses.  “Natasha?  What on earth are you doing here?”
“Well that’s not the welcome I was hoping for,” she teased.
Steve shook his head and walked over to her and wrapped his arms around her, “That’s not what I meant.  It’s just… you haven’t come to one of these in a while.  I’m surprised you came.”
“Y/N wanted me to come, she said it would be fun and it’s been a while since I’ve seen the others.  It will be nice to see them all again.”
The doorbell rang and Steve pulled away, “And wonder who’s first tonight.  Natasha, do you mind finishing setting the table while I get the door?  Y/N can you help her?”
“Sure,” Y/N responded with a smile.
“Natasha, as I live and breathe,” both girls turned to see who had come first only to realize that they had all arrived at the same time.  Bruce had spoken first and was standing there with a large grin on his face.  “Long time no see.”
Natasha walked over and hugged him and the others, “It’s so nice to see you all again.”  She paused when she reached Bucky and said, “I’m afraid I don’t know you.”
“This is Bucky,” Steve said.  “Bucky meet my old friend Natasha.”
Bucky stuck out his hand and shook Natasha’s, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.  Steve and the others speak about you all the time.”
“All good things, I promise,” Steve interjected.
Natasha narrowed her eyes at him, “I feel like you’re lying, but I’ll let it slide this time.”
Bucky’s eyes landed on Y/N, he hadn’t seen her since Steve had barged into his studio that night and taken her home with him.  As Natasha said her hellos and got caught up with the others he made his way toward Y/N.  No one but Steve was really paying attention to the two of them.  He noticed the way Y/N’s face lit up as Bucky approached.
“I’m sorry if I got you into trouble the other night,” he whispered as he came to a stop before her.  There was a sheepish smile on his face and he looked down at the ground for a second.  “Would you like to come back one day?  You can come with me in the morning and I promise I’ll have you back before dark.”
“I’d like that,” she whispered.  “I had fun before Steve barged in on us.”
“So did I,” Bucky was relieved to hear that she hadn’t been bored out of her mind.
Steve suddenly clapped his hands, “We should eat before the food gets cold.”  He shot Bucky a look, but didn’t say anything else as everyone slowly gathered around the table and took their places.
Natasha watched Y/N as she took a seat beside the young man she hadn’t met before tonight and grew worried as the two of them laughed quietly and talked to themselves.  She caught Steve’s eye and mouthed, “We need to talk.”  He merely nodded before steering the conversation toward the upcoming summer festival.
