people Brucie Wayne has claimed to be hooking up with to explain why he's sneaking around this building on a scale of least to most regrets:
Clark Kent (safe choice, in the know, can be summoned to prove it)
Selina Kyle (same as above but will demand he follow through on the hookup)
several kindhearted Gotham supermodels who think he's covering for a secret, camera-shy lover (works a treat but Bruce feels like he's taking advantage)
Harley Quinn (it happened once when he was slipping into Arkham in civvies. to this day he has no idea why she went with it but probably best not repeated)
Oliver Queen (extremely believable and in the know but very annoying about it afterwards)
Stephanie Brown (Bruce claimed he was hooking up with a waitress, not expecting the security guard to insist on waiting for her to export them both out. Steph on comms realised she was the only person available to play the waitress who would not be immediately recognised as his child. neither of them could even look at each other for over a month)
Lex Luthor (the only reason this didn't end with Bruce dead was thst the guard was too in shock to respond before Bruce had slipped away. risky and will result in Clark being uncomfortable around him for the next week)
I love that identity reveals between Jim Gordon and Bruce in fic almost always go the same way. Bruce goes "How did you know? Was it my acting?" and nine times out of ten Jim says something along the lines of "No, your acting was phenomenal. You gave yourself away by caring too much, Mr. Wayne."
Because the billionaire playboy cover was perfect and damn near airtight until one Bruce Wayne leapt in front of someone else during a holdup at a gala and "accidentally" got shot. No self-involved airhead with that much money riding on his life would ever -- ever -- let himself think of someone else in that moment.
In case it seems like every third comic has Batman in it... you're not wrong. He's been in 38.6% of DC issues since 2020, with a stark increase of 8% each decade since the 90s and surpassing Superman in popularity. Despite this, there's been a massive drop off of comics where he is teamed up with Superman or a Robin (although the amount of group team ups between Batman Family members has increased, as well as Nightwing solos).
