Barry: Stop trying to one up Batman, Green, he’ll break you in half.
Hal: I’d let him.
Clark: CAN I JUST EAT MY BREAKFAST ON THIS SPACE STATION ONE TIME WITHOUT SOMEONE SAYING SOMETHING INAPPROPRIATE!?
Hal: Jealous Sups?
Barry just walking away, questioning his taste in friends.

The Titans are almost back, bitches. aka 3x06
Guys, literally every time the titans are together-or even paired up-the episode gets ten times better, but in 6 episodes there is simply not enough Kory and Gar. I can easily forget that when I’m basking in the episode they are in, especially when they’re giving us family dynamics.
Kory:
“You’re not mad that I left. You’re mad I came back.” Kory’s face tells us Blackfire is right on the money, and who would know her better than her sister?
So, Kory, oh boy. Our girl is on edge. She is slowly unraveling and is super vulnerable and raw with Kom around and little sister is going to exploit it and her guilt, which I think she’s carrying a lot of. So far their dynamic has been fascinating because there’s so much to read between them and so many accusations being flung back and forth, from both. From Kory; you sense guilt and even contempt and from Kom there’s envy and resentment, but also there’s a sense of idealization for her older sister, too, which of course, with younger siblings, there always is an element of that. And as an older sibling, there is always an unspoken and sometimes spoken responsibility placed on them for their younger siblings. Parents often don’t realize it, but they can create a lot of tension within siblingships by assigning roles.
They remember home and family very differently, which is often the case, too. Kom was often thrown in the pit and to that, Kory attributes her sister’s constant rebellion as the reason, and yet, Kory herself was a bit of a rule breaker, sleeping with her guard, Fiddei.
Kory was being suffocated by the laws and customs of her home planet; one could say she rebelled by going on a mission, to escape her duties. Home did neither of them any favors because while one rebelled because she did not fit in, the one who did fit in was dying inside, surrounded by little robots and becoming one herself. Being told what to eat, wear and who to love or be friends with is yikes.
I was thinking Kom began her game of manipulation in the bunker, but she really started before that when she sent Fiddei to bring Kory home when she probably intended to kill him all along. After all she would’ve castrated him if she’d had the chance to for sleeping with Kory in the first place. Shortly after Fiddei’s death, Kory flamed out. No powers. Emotionally wrung out from the news her family was dead and now the culprit is here. These two know each other very well and know exactly how to get underneath each other’s skin. Right now Kom is getting underneath Kory’s and our girl is losing patience fast.
I’m wondering when exactly Dick will tune into Kory’s anxiety-ridden state and step in to support.
Ultimately, I just want to see what truly happened to the girls on their planet and how we have the versions we have now. Like, Kory said to Rachel, “No one is born good or bad, we are defined by our choices.” I get the feeling Kory has given Kom so many chances to make a different choice and has become disillusioned, meanwhile Kom believes nothing she does will give her the respect she feels she deserves anyway, so she may as well blow shit up, figuratively and literally. At least then she’ll have Kory’s attention.
Gar:
Gar losing it on Dick was so cathartic and yet he could’ve gone much further, considering Dick abandoned him last season to go jail and hallucinate Bruce. It ultimately led to Gar (and Conner) being kidnapped and experimented on by Mercy. It’s actually all the adults fault this happened, but as the leader promoting his family everywhere he goes, he needs to keep his eye on the ball. He would know if he spent five minutes at home with them that Gar is struggling. Last season Gar was #OperationSaveTitans and this season he’s #ThisFamilyIsDying. He’s doing what the adults should be doing, or at least leading the charge on it. He’s the glue, but who will hold him together?
He’s carrying too much emotional responsibility and Dick’s dismissal, because he is fully locked into Gotham and being Batman, makes me mad. Get your head in the game, Grayson. Gotham is going to eat your family while you retread the nostalgic steps of your past.
We all know Dick’s not good at expressing himself emotionally, though he’s usually forced to express something when talking to or being confronted by Kory, so I was proud of him for giving Gar the floor to speak. I just wish Gar spoke about himself, but then again, he needs more time and consistent offers to be heard. I’m happy Dick followed up the conversation up with a bonding/training session. There was definitely pride in Dick’s face because Gar really has come a long way in this group, but he needs MORE SCREEN TIME. I’d like to see the two of them out in the field together the way we’ve seen Kory this season with Gar and Conner.
I wonder if Gar losing control is the start of all his trauma bubbling up to the surface, will being in Gotham, hunting down a friend be too much?
As a side, has the CGI tiger face gotten worse?
Kom (and Conner):
First thing’s first, what music are we thinking Kom listens to? Probably the kind of music she can break your tailbone to, like, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole and Jay Z, or Prince, Jimmy Hendrix, Stevie Nicks and Led Zeppelin? Rihanna?
Kom is absolutely a villain this season and if she isn’t, what a waste that’ll be. A mastermind at mind games (see, her picking up the chess piece), who is going to drum up Kory’s paranoia and anxiety around her being there. Trying to kill her suspicion by guilt tripping her while simultaneously being a do good-er to the group, feigning interest in helping the Titans to earn her way in, a tip from our boy, Conner.
She says she wants acceptance and I believe that’s absolutely true, but she doesn’t know how to get that without using power, so she’ll continue to covet acceptance through and with power because according to Kory, she’s always been a climber. Add to that, being born the cursed child and the only royal member born without the gift of fire, something that differentiates them from the common folk, being too frail to participate in the same games as Kory, having a speech therapist be her only friend while being the object of ridicule and you have a villain origin story nicely set up.
I really enjoyed Conner and Kom’s exchange. The boy lit up when he spoke about seeing his family happy and it made me light up. He’s so genuine and has a big heart and Kom is going to take advantage of it, that’s not to say she won’t develop real feelings for him, but she can like him and still use him.
Conner’s “you have to earn your way into the family,” is perhaps an internal and personal struggle he has from sharing blood with Luthor. I think it may come from an insecure place because he was made a titan as soon as he woke up and no one questioned it, but as he’s only half of superman, he’s constantly trying to prove his usefulness for good, which losing Hank has rocked, leaving him vulnerable to Kom’s recognition for his otherness. Their otherness.
She gave us insight into her mind, but also she has likely seized an opportunity to use the vulnerability against Conner and to her favor by making him her kindred. Outcasts. Will she gain influence over him? He’s still young and learning, and trusting, too.
Her interest in him felt layered, ignoring the ugly customs of sex servants, she was also observing Kory’s relationships and ranking them in her sister’s life. Her being able to determine who may have Kory’s interest (which Kory gave away with her vulnerable display of worry over Dick’s welfare in front of Kom) will surely come into play at some point, right? After all, Kom did kill Kory’s last lover/royal guard. This may be me projecting. LOL.
Romantically, I’m waiting to see how they play it before I decide if I like it or not, but so far, they have a nice chemistry. Friendly.
Dick (and Barbara) :
What a lovable dumb ass.
I was so happy Kory lost it on him and called him on his lone ranger shit, at least when it’s her, even when he’s being an idiot, he’s still listening. “Let’s go.” and I thought it was hilarious that he tried explaining himself, but when Gar called him out, he got all huffy with, “Excuse me, young man.”
Gar asking Kory not to have words with Barbara over Dick getting shot was so funny because Dick’s face seemed to ask the same when she asked how it happened. We love a protective Kory. I’ll be looking at him when it’s his turn to reciprocate.
I don’t like him dismissing their concerns about his personal safety and how it affects them, it’s like he’s learned nothing after running off alone to battle Trigon, or rather has unlearned his lessons of S2. I’d like to see some more permanent emotional growth from him by this season’s end. In his current state, he’s not an exuding leader. He can’t be when he’s still wrapped up in Bruce and all things Gotham. He’s not tuned into Kory’s anxiety, or Conner’s grief and insecurity, or Gar’s emotional burden.
He’s started making it up to him, but he has much to do in taking Gar’s concerns and emotional needs seriously.
I’m not even going to try and work out the timeline between Barbara and Dick and Dick and old Titans in San Fran and S1. But it doesn’t bode well that Dick’s dream with Barbara ended in a nightmare.
I wish they’d never did the whole Dick and Dawn relationship in S2 because they’re basically repeating some of the beats in showing us how they don’t work as a couple, only his relationship with Babs makes a lot more sense even though I don't care. Dick has unfinished business with that relationship, Bruce and Gotham and I can only hope he’s wrapped it up for good by this season’s end. I want to see relaxed, smiling and happy Dick in THE PRESENT. I still Babs will be the one to notice and point out Dick's feelings for Kory.
Barbara (outside of Dick) is being downplayed a little, no? Dismissing Dick’s suspicions about Jason when he arrived, showing no knowledge of Jason’s visits to Crane and then taking the bait and moving Crane after he got a light beat down. A commissioner who was also a very capable vigilante is tricked by a recording and goes to meet “Bruce” on her own. I really enjoyed that she could hold her own and the fight scene was really good, but it was a bit baffling that she fell for that ruse. So far, she’s not entirely good at her job.
Dick’s a distraction in his own right and her feelings clearly get in the way, which is why she keeps asking him to leave the precinct and Gotham; because she’s pining a fantasy and he’s ruining it. Lastly, I really like the way Savannah plays Barbara.
Why’d they do that to Tim?? :(
Overall, it was a better episode and I enjoyed it more than latter episodes, but they’re not quite there yet for me. I’m  still waiting for Team Titans.

A Miraculous DC Crossover
ALL RIGHT!!
I’ve been sucked into this unholy sub-fandom and I have thoughts okay? lots of them. Almost none are coherent and I don’t care. I have no plotline to write a fic but by the gods do I need to get out all my ideas.
Behold:
the Salttm
Lila, obviously. But she’s a petty nuisance at best, and an annoyingly competent akuma to fight at worst. manipulative, but not really dangerous ya feel?
Alya. which like, home girl probably doesn’t deserve but like,,, the drama??
CHLOE REDEMPTION YOU COWARDS
She and Marinette become surprisingly good friends (because I love that for both of them and you can pry it from me cold, dead hands)
Nettie-bug and Queenie
They pick on Adrien together
Mari’s friends Protection Squad That Don’t Take No Shit
Adrien
Chloe
NINO BITCH HE DESERVES MORE LOVE TBH
Alix?? Probably
Luka obvi
Felix (PV)?? Or does Marinette have enough emotionally constipated boys in her life?
(Answer: no. no she does not.)
Nath? He be a good fox tbh. creative and sneaky boi
Kagami!!! I love her
They’re all heroes because I say so.
Felix (Sparrow) is an honorary member even though he doesn’t have a miraculous
He handles PR and other background things along with Chloe
Joined up a few years back when Parisians were getting a bit too critical of the heroes
No Hawkmoth b/c fuck that guy
He existed, just not anymore. Bitch got yeeted
There’s other villains in town now. After Hawkmoth’s defeat other metas/supervillains looked at Paris and was just like, ‘free real estate?”
So now the Miraculous Team are Paris’ Actual Full-Time Hero TeamTM… yay.
Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Abielle (or like, Wasp/Yellow Jacket idk Chloe changes her name because ~identity stuff~) are the core three team. like, the wonder woman/batman/superman trio of the MTeam.
Nath is called Reynard Ambre b/c I love him
The public knows he exists but he’s never seen in battle and no pictures exist.
but there are plenty of instances where Paris knows he out mucking around because those akuma battles always get really weird.
Marinette be the guardian?
Guardian in training
Along with all the other holders b/c jesus. Give the girl a break.
Yeah. I like that Idea. All current holders are training to be guardians as well, but Mari’s going to step up as Guardian Supreme when Fu steps down.
Hero fashion!!!
The Miraculous Team is all decked out in their own merch like 24/7
Rarely is it thier own hero persona tho
Not because of like,,,, secrecy or anything. Just because they’re all nerds who love each other
Marinette is the lead producer of Miraculous Merchandise. It’s like,,, her BrandTM It was completely unintentional too
(Adrien and Chloe financially support her work tho. She designs, makes a prototype, and has her two blondes get others to replicate it)
Half of Paris is wearing her without knowing it
(Go MDC! get it girl!)
She totally makes Gotham inspired outfits because what else would she do????
Don’t get her wrong, most of Gotham’s fashion sense royally pisses her off but it’s fun and hey, supporting her fellow heroes ya know?
She wears a Robin hoodie after being officially acquainted with both Damian and Robin (separately of course)
Damian chokes on something, probably his own tongue.
It confuses Nettie. But then she thinks maybe he’s a fan too? She offers to make one for him but he steadfastly refuses much to his brothers’ amusement.
Might make a robin themed dress?? If so, she crosses paths with Robin when she does, thoroughly embarrassing her and almost sending poor Dami into a crisis.
Rogues Gallery
She makes a lot of designs off the rouges gallery because like, supporting people trying to get better??? also they’re some of the few who’s aesthetic aint shit?
She can’t make all of them because she ran out of time, so the rest get posited up on her Instagram and MDC blog (that’s run by Tikki mostly. She’s a great secretary and gets bored in Mari’s purse all the time)
Everyone is very flattered
Harley, if she ever finds it, immediately commission all pieces and wears them around Gotham don’t @ me
Daminette obvi
Marinette meets him and is just like ‘wow, you’re horrible. I want five’
Marinette, in the group chat later: so I met Kagami and Felix’s love child today
Kagami and Felix, seconds apart: I would never stoop so low
immediately after: Hey what the fuck? Rude
Nino: Nettie, dearest, sunshine, light of our collective lives and reason I breathe, what the fuck
Adrien: Kagami, my love, how could you? the Betrayal
Chloe: ew
Luka: Send pics or it didn’t happen
Nath: [insert the ‘right in front of my salad?’ meme]
Whenever they cross paths as Robin and Mari, he’ll just like,,, appear from nowhere hanging upside down spiderman style. Mari finds it endearing but she also wants him to stop scaring the shit out of her
Nicknames, because I have an unhealthy obsession with them, alright?
Misc Mari names: Bug, Bugaboo, Buginette, Madame President/Colonel (when the Team’s being cheeky), Princess, Marigold, Nettie (by like, Nino and Alix)
Jason calls her Pixie-pop
The bird boys call her Nightingale/Mockingbird in like, honor of her being a kickass civillian
Mari refers to them as ‘the flock’ (and bird-brains after getting to know them better)
Damian calls her: Starling, Habibti, ya qamar(my moon), malaki (angel), ya wardati(my flower) (b/c like, angel’s cute an all but I just think Damian’s way more dramatic than that tbh. he’d put thought into his nicknames)
Mari calls Damian: mon soleil (my sunshine) (because symmetry and also Mari thinks she’d hilarious), Birdie, petit oiseau/oisillon
I like the idea of Jagged being a native Gothamite tbh
it’s just so fun honestly???
He’s probably the reason the MTeam are in Gotham in the first place? maybe? anyway, the class is there, right? right.
Kagami, Luka and Felix are all holding the fort down in Paris. Ain't no akumas but sometimes they need backup so when certain heroes need to disappear, Nath has Trixx set up an illusion of whichever one so they can slip away with the horse miraculous.
Mari’s the one who has to leave the most because she’s still Paris’ damage control, so like,,,,, ya know.
Mari doesn’t get left behind, at least not on the first day b/c come on people! She has plenty of friends in class watching out for her and a semi-competent teacher who does care even if she’s non-confrontational to a fault.
She does eventually become separated from the group. Half because of Lila and half because she’s always fucking late and got distracted.
She actually runs into one of the civilian batfam in the first place because the class was allowed an hour or so to wander around the shopping district or whatever to explore/buy things/get food. They just needed to return to the meetup spot at a certain time but Mari is like ten minutes away when it’s five minutes to the meetup
So she’s just… fucking booking it and completely takes out this trained vigilante without trying to.
Mari, as she’s groaning on the ground, tangled around a boy: By Kwamii, I thought my luck was supposed to be good Tikki.
That or like, the subway doors close before she can get on them and the rest of the class ends up ahead of her leaving her to get caught up on some bullshit in the next train or smth.
Oh, like. Of course it’s her train that gets held hostage. Wonderful.
(Later, Mari will rant at Tikki about her luck. A common conversation between the two tbh.)
This could be where she officially meets the Batfam as the Batfam. Or, like. A couple of em, at least.
Marinette getting serial adopted by the whole goddamn batfamily because i will die for this trope tbh i dont even care
The Robins nickname her Nightingale before they realize she’s Ladybug
They still call her that after but it’s not with the intention of making it her hero name anymore
Her and Alfred are def bros you don’t understand
Actually, Gina and Alfred are old friends. Mari totally knows Alfie before the bat fam and calls him Poppy/Pépé
which floors the batfam because what? Since when does that happen???
Alfred and Mari never, like, actually met in person before, but video chats exist and Gina def talks about the two to each other so it’s like they may as well know each other.
I also like the idea of Alfred being a former holder, probably the peacock. I would adore that
Just,,,, so many fun hero shenanigans
Yeah sure. The batfam are super detectives and have a history of figuring out people’s identities in no time at all. Whatever. Where’s the drama in that though? The showmanship?
Fuck canon, the Miraculous all have glamours because magic bitch and it plays fucking hell on the Batfam and all their shit
Every single Batfam member is simultaneously pulling their hair out because they don’t know who these heroes are???? Why can they figure them out?? Confusion???????
Miraculous team is just…. Straight up laughing at them. The poor dears.
That one gag where it’s a well-known secret that Mari has connections to every Parisian hero and is basically their own personal catering service/comfort place.
Also, it’s the worst kept secret in Paris that Mari is Multimouse
None of the MTeam have confirmed that rumour but they also don’t deny it.
they actually started the rumour. If all of Paris thinks Mari’s the mouse, a temporary hero, no one’s going to think she’s Ladybug/or that she’s an easy target to go after
chloe actually came up with that one
Mari meeting all of Damian’s ‘associates’ (ie pets)
She adores all of them and they her.
Especially GOLIATH, why isn’t he talked about more honestly???? He’s GREAT
She meets Goliath as Ladybug and Robin is just… so done with him??? You are supposed to be a fearsome beast and a professional why are you rolling over and expoSING YOUR STOMACH??? Meanwhile, Ladybug is just: Awww! Who’s a good boy? Who’s the best boy? You are! Look at how handsome you are! Cute widdle baby-
Miraculous Team hanging on the roof of their hotel kinda chilling
Maybe having a debate about doing some free-running/parkour?
Also maybe about whether or not they should be heroes while in Gotham
MT being like, why can’t we go and stop an armed robbery? we can help!
“Gotham already has very active heroes-”
“Vigilantes!”
“-whatever. I don’t want us stepping on any toes. This isn’t our terf and Batman’s known for being strict about Metas rolling around here.”
“We aren’t Metas though.”
“I don’t think he’ll enjoy splitting that particular hair, Nino. Just- not unless lives are at stake, okay? Emergencies only.”
“Yes, Colonel Ladybug.”
This debate most def gets crashed by batfam and confusion ensues upon both sides
batfam didn’t hear anything, they’re just really confused about these french kids hanging out on a roof in Gotham
Just.... yes. all of that. I have like, more but those are not organized or even remotely coherent. here you go! I might write for this but I already have other fics rn so... it wouldn’t be for a while. and as I said, I have no plot.
take this though, i guess. *throws confetti*

Summary: What happens when two of the most emotionally damaged members of the Batfam are tricked into spending quality time together?
OR
Damian and Jason have complicated histories when it comes to family and revenge, but a Father's Day card could help them start to work through it.
____
“You didn’t have to come,” Jason pointed out, trailing his fingers along the wall of greeting cards.
Damian scowled at a New Year’s card with a drawing of Superman on the front being pulled into the air by a balloon over the caption Up, up, and away to a new year! It was infuriatingly nonsensical. Why would the alien need a balloon if he could already fly?
“Pennyworth insisted. And I was under the impression that this was going to be some form of surveillance operation. It seems he didn’t find it necessary to disabuse me of that notion before we left.”
Damian’s eyes narrowed as he recalled the pleased slant to Pennyworth’s mouth as Damian had gotten in Todd’s car. The younger boy had assumed it was because Alfred would get to have the house to himself for the afternoon. Now he suspected a much more nefarious motive.
Jason chuckled. “Played by the old man, huh? Anyone who thinks Bruce is the master manipulator hasn’t met Alfred.”
“Tt. I wonder what I have done to upset him.”
“Hm?” Jason plucked a card from the wall and skimmed it. He chuckled at whatever it said.
“Pennyworth must be fairly irritated to have set this up. Obviously he knows how we feel about each other.”
At that Jason raised an eyebrow, putting the card back in its slot and grabbing another. “Oh yeah?”
“Of course he does.”
“And how do we feel about each other?” There was a subtle lilt in his voice; Damian could see the older boy fighting back a smile.
His jaw clenched. “Stop acting like a fool. You know the status of our relationship.”
“Thought by now you’d realize it’s not an act. I really am just an idiot.”
Damian scrunched his mouth together, but continued with forced calm. Meanwhile a woman pushed her cart past them slowly, clearly eavesdropping as she pretended to examine the envelop options.
“We are colleagues. That is all. Otherwise, we stay out of each other’s way.”
“Right,” Jason agreed as he flipped open yet another card. This one had Green Lantern grinning on the front and saying something that Damian couldn’t see around Jason’s fingers. “Why do you think that is?”
“What?”
“The whole ‘staying out of each other’s way’ thing. Why is it like that with us?”
“What are you talking about?”
“Well, I’ve got actual beef with Bruce, Dick-wing, and Replacement. Or at least, I did. You, on the other hand,” he glanced at Damian now. “What’s your deal?”
“My deal?” Damian echoed incredulously, his voice grating under the strain of keeping it at least somewhat moderated. “Since the moment we met, you have made it abundantly clear that you want no part of me. Most of the time, you refuse to even look in my direction. You set the terms of this relationship, and I have accepted them. That, Todd, is my deal.”
Damian’s face felt hot, and it took more effort than it should have for him to slow his breathing. The nosy woman was openly staring at them now.
Jason blinked at him, his eyebrows arched in surprise, then looked back at the wall of cards. His expression reverted into something smooth and inscrutable, but his ears had gone red.
“Hm,” was all he said in response, exchanging the card in his hands for yet another.
Damian, on the other hand, felt as if his head might pop, and Jason’s lack of reaction was only making it worse. Now on top of being inexplicably angry, he was also embarrassed. Compared to Jason’s calm, he looked like a child throwing a tantrum in a store.
He was also embarrassed that Alfred had tricked him into coming here for a reason he apparently did not understand, and that Damian had also apparently misinterpreted something about the dynamic between him and Jason. All this time Damian had thought he’d understood the rules of engagement between them. Now it seemed as though he had been mistaken; that fact burned in his stomach like acid.
But Damian knew what he saw. He had not made up the aura of revulsion that had initially wafted off of Todd in waves whenever Damian had come around. He had not imagined the surreptitious glances of rage or disgust, the loaded silences between them. And he would not let Todd try to make him think that he had. As if all this time he’d been playing make-believe like some foolish child.
“What are you even doing?” Damian spit. For the first time, he noticed that Jason was looking at Father’s Day cards.
The older boy offered a delayed and distracted, “What?”
“What are you doing?” Damian repeated slowly, emphasizing each word.
Jason looked at the card in his hands before looking back at Damian, the blush in his ears intensifying. There was an edge in his voice when he retorted, “What’s it look like?”
“It looks like you’re browsing Father’s Day cards, which is odd seeing as how you don’t have one.”
Jason recoiled, and Damian relished the wild fury that flared in his eyes – the break in his vexing calm. The younger boy found himself bracing for a physical attack; the others would never be so reckless in public, but from what he’d seen of Todd, this boy was careless and unpredictable enough to launch into an all-out assault right here in the pharmacy.
But then the fury faded into something barely restrained, and he muttered,“You’re lucky you’re still just a brat and that I don’t pummel children.”
“I am not a child,” Damian snarled, trying not to cringe at how utterly childish that response sounded on his lips.
“You’re an infant. And I’m sick of looking at you. Go wait in the car.”
Although he wanted nothing more than to do just that, part of Damian despised the fact that it would now look like he was taking orders. He stood there, weighing his dignity against his overwhelming desire to be elsewhere, until he caught the flash of ire in Todd’s eyes again and decided that the consequences of his defiance would not be worth whatever satisfaction he might glean from it.
He stalked out of the pharmacy, ignoring an employee’s too-bubbly farewell as he slammed open the door and marched toward the old, definitely-stolen Jeep in the lot. It wasn’t until he yanked on the locked passenger door that he realized he’d forgotten to get the keys, and he threw his head back and screamed a curse that would have turned Alfred to stone.
There was no way he was going back inside now, so he found himself sitting on the curb, his arms crossed tightly around his knees as he glared at the asphalt.
A few minutes later, he heard the chime over the door, then the crunch and shuffle of boots on pavement followed by the sound of the car doors unlocking. He got in without a word and glowered straight ahead.
Beside him, Todd got in empty-handed and started the car, but they didn’t move right away. The following silence felt like a precursor to something, and Damian was glad he hadn’t yet put his seatbelt on. Adrenaline bubbling up in his chest, he slid his hand over to unlock his door, ready to make a quick exit.
At last, he chanced a glance in the older boy’s direction, expecting to find unbridled fury and perhaps even murderous intent. While Todd did still looked incensed, his unnaturally green eyes burning a hole in the windshield, he also looked oddly wounded and confused. The expression was enough to distract Damian from his escape plan, and he paused with his hand on the plastic nub of the lock.
Jason muttered something, and Damian asked, “What?”
“I said ‘I don’t hate you.’ I mean, I do – I did. But it was never personal.”
“That doesn’t make any–”
“Would you just shut up? I know, okay? I know it doesn’t make sense. Just let me–” Jason exhaled loudly, running his hand over his face as he tipped his head back into the seat.
When he spoke again, it was with his eyes closed and his hand still resting over his mouth. “I’m trying to communicate. Just work with me, all right?”
“Tt.” But Damian fell silent, allowing the older boy to continue.
Jason at last let his hand drop, his eyes slipping open so that he was staring at the stained and scuffed cream-colored ceiling. “When I first met Tim, it was like I’d been punched in the face. I don’t know how much you know about me and my… history, but even when I was Robin, Bruce and I never completely agreed on how we should handle things. We got along most of the time, but we argued a lot. He thought I was too aggressive, I thought he was too soft. He thought I was impulsive and reckless, I thought he had a stick up his ass.”
He paused. “Butt. Don’t tell Alfred I cursed in front of you. Anyways, we were just so different. The poor kid from Crime Alley and the billionaire CEO. It shouldn’t have worked, but when it did, it was great. And when it didn’t…”
Todd paused again, his gaze becoming distant and… pained, Damian thought. Not a sharp, lancing pain, but something dull, like an old bruise.
“Then I died and I came back and there’s this new kid– the new Robin. For some reason, I’d gotten it in my head that Bruce would just retire the role all together after me. As if he cared enough to do something like that.”
He smirked, but there wasn’t an ounce of joy in it; it was a sour twist of his mouth that reminded Damian of poison.
“So, there he was. Robin 3.0. And he was good. Like really good. I was a good Robin, Dick was a good Robin, but Replacement.” Todd shook his head in rueful appreciation. “The kid is a genius. He’s like a mini-Bruce. Even Dick was never like that. Apparently he even figured out the whole secret on his own when he was like fourteen or something?”
“Thirteen,” Damian corrected quietly. He, too, often found himself impressed by Drake’s mental acumen, even if he’d never admit it aloud. Damian was sharp, but he’d had to work for years to get like that; for Drake, it just came naturally. Watching him solve a puzzle was like watching a prodigy at their craft. There were connections that Drake could make that Damian knew he never could, no matter how many years of training he got under his belt.
“What are you getting at?” he asked, perhaps more sharply than he’d meant to.
“I’m saying, that when I first met Tim, I hated him. Like really, genuinely hated him. But it wasn’t him that I was pissed at. It was what he was. He was everything I never was and could never be.”
“Smart?” As soon as Damian said it, he regretted it. He could never figure out why he was like this, always throwing barbs even when he didn’t really want to. It was like a reflex, and he again braced for the equally reflexive response he expected from Todd.
Instead, the older boy barked a laugh. The sound was as genuine as it was sad.
“Yeah, that. But mostly, when I saw him I saw someone who was more like a son to Bruce than I ever was. And a way better Robin. They just fit together. Rich kid to rich kid. Like puzzle pieces. Then I met you. My worst effin’ nightmare.”
Damian bristled. “What do you mean?” he demanded.
“I hated Tim because he was like Bruce’s actual son. How do you think I felt about you?”
Any quick retort died in the younger boy’s throat. He swallowed and frowned at the glove compartment. “I fail to see how my biological relation to Father has anything to do with you.”
Jason sighed. “It doesn’t. It shouldn’t. But I look at you and Tim and even Dick and all I can think is, ‘I bet Bruce would kill for them.’”
He chuckled wryly. “Jesus, it sounds even more effed up out loud.”
And again, he lapsed into a heavy silence, this one so cold and absolute that Damian hardly dared to breathe.
After some time, when it was beginning to feel as if Jason wouldn’t speak again, Damian cleared his throat and said, “Obviously, I was not there when you had your… incident.”
Jason scoffed, perhaps at Damian’s choice of words, and it rankled him, but Damian continued as if he hadn’t noticed.
“But I have heard stories from that time, and the time shortly after. From what I understand, your death was not insignificant. It nearly killed him.”
Jason seemed to be working hard to maintain his sardonic grin; he was failing. “Is that what they told you?”
“It’s what I’ve gleaned. And after living with Father for several years, I don’t doubt that it’s true.”
“Tell me something,” Jason said, his eyes searching Damian’s thoughtfully. Any trace of humor, false or otherwise, was gone from his expression. “If someone killed you tonight, what would Talia do?”
Damian stiffened but said nothing. He knew the answer and he knew that Todd knew as well. His mother would be enraged by his failure, for certain. She would talk grandly about how Damian was no longer her concern since he’d chosen to be with Father, but the same day she would unleash utter destruction upon everyone responsible. She would lay waste to them and their families and salt the earth at her feet. His killer would know the full wrath of the League of Shadows, and the last thing they would see would be the tip of his mother’s blade.
Damian knew this implicitly, but the knowledge did not inspire any feelings of love in him the way Jason apparently suspected. The younger boy did not feel flattered by this assurance. If anything, it made him sick.
“Father does not grieve in blood,” Damian said at last, swallowing against the dryness in his throat. “He isn’t like us.” Damian didn’t know if us meant himself and the League of Shadows, or him and Jason. Perhaps both.
He’s better, is what he wanted to add, but instead Damian continued, “And vengeance is not always love.”
He thought again of his mother. The same woman who would wage a war on his behalf had also nearly killed him dozens of times herself. The fact that both of these things could be true at once still made his head spin.
Jason gazed out the windshield for a moment before offering a simple, “Hm.” It would have sounded dismissive, but Damian could see the consideration in his eyes.
Outside, the sun was tipping into late afternoon, and shadows were creeping longer and longer across the ground. Damian watched two birds dance together in the air. At first it looked like they were fighting, but then they landed side by side on a powerline, so close their wings were nearly touching.
His finger worried at the plastic lock as he built up his nerve.
“I don’t hate you either,” he offered, and he was grateful that his umber complexion a least somewhat camouflaged any flush that might be creeping into his face. Even staring out his window, he felt Jason’s eyes on him.
“You should.”
“I don’t.” He took a breath. “Where I come from, love is earned. Every day you must prove yourself worthy of it and every day is another opportunity to lose it. The slightest failure could cost you everything.”
He forced himself to continue quickly, outpacing the memories he felt rushing to meet him. “That is the mindset I arrived in Gotham with. My first few years with Father were marked by that conviction. It made sense to me. Dick and Tim are worthy combatants. I understood why Father would offer them his affection. But you… All I knew of you was that you had failed.”
At that, Damian’s head swiveled to look at Jason, realizing too late how his words must have sounded. The older boy was rigid, but he didn’t look angry.
“I didn’t mean–”
“I get it. It’s okay.”
“No,” Damian insisted sternly. “It is not. I was raised to believe that to die in battle was the ultimate failure. But that was wrong. Like much of what I learned back then.”
When Jason didn’t say anything, Damian continued, “I heard stories about how you were when you first returned. How you hurt Father and the others over and over again. I know about Father’s attempts to reach out to you and how you turned your back on him for years.”
Damian could feel the temperature around Jason dropping, as if the older boy was turning to ice at Damian’s side, but he continued, feeling now as if he couldn’t stop even if he wanted to. The words flowed out of him, unfiltered and unrelenting.
“Your grievances against him were so numerous and severe, it didn’t make sense to me that he would still love you. And yet he did.
“Meanwhile, I live in constant fear that I will inevitably prove them right. That I’m not worthy of…” Damian’s nail carved into the hard plastic of the car lock as the words hitched and stuck in his throat. He swallowed.
“Who?” Jason asked quietly.
“What?”
“Prove who right?”
My mother. My grandfather.
Everyone.
Me.
“That’s not the point,” Damian answered. “I resented you and your unearned love and and how absolutely oblivious you seemed to be to that blessing. Even now, it is clear to me that you fail to recognize how fortunate you are.”
A few years ago, Damian would not have been able to say this without lacing the words with venom. Now he was able to say them plainly, though something in the center of his chest still ached.
“You know it’s not like that with you, though, right?” Jason confirmed. “That whole earning and losing love thing– Bruce would never make you do that. You’re his son.”
“As are you.” Damian forced himself to look Jason dead in the eye then, and Jason held the gaze for a beat before looking away, his ears once again going red.
“You do not see the way Father looks at you,” he explained. “It is like a blind man seeing the sun for the first time.”
Jason was speechless for a second before muttering, “Whatever you say, kid,” as he put his hands on the wheel and backed out of the parking spot. When they hit the road, the older boy switched on the radio, and Damian was grateful for the blanket of sound to quell any further discussion.
He sunk into the seat then, oddly exhausted, and turned around in time to watch as the two birds on the wire took off towards the clouds.
*********
“Just admit it. You killed him, didn’t you?” Tim asked, leaning back on the rear legs of his chair. “You finished the job.”
Damian’s eyes flicked up from his book to glare at the boy across the kitchen table. This particular joke had been going on for over two weeks, and while Tim’s attempts at humor were never amusing, this one was particularly grating since it also managed to twist Damian’s guts into guilty knots.
No one had seen or heard from Jason since he had returned Damian to the manor after their disastrous pharmacy outing, and now all the younger boy could think about was everything he had done wrong. He never should have been so transparent; he never should have been so cruel. In retrospect, he could concede at least that much.
Damian typically preferred to apologize with his actions rather than explicit words, and he’d thought that he had managed to convey that while he and Jason were in the car together, but perhaps the older boy had not seen it that way. Perhaps he’d been waiting for a formal apology, and now that so much time had elapse, they had finally fallen below even the status of colleagues – not quite enemies, but certainly no longer allies.
Damian straightened in his seat, setting his shoulders. If that was the case, then so be it. He was the last person who would ever weep over a burned bridge. The loss would be inconvenient – Todd had proven himself a useful aid in the field at times – but it was not as if they had ever been particularly close or worked together often. If Todd wanted to move on, then Damian would do the same.
He returned his attention to his book, but after a few seconds of rereading the same sentence over and over, he slapped it on the table with a frustrated sigh and took a sip of his lukewarm tea.
There was distant knock at the front door followed by some muffled conversation between Alfred and whoever the other person was. A moment later, Damian shouted as a plastic bag rocketed into the side of his head and fell to the floor. He whirled toward the source, but all of his rage evaporated into blank shock when he saw Todd leaning in the doorway, a fading bruise on his cheek and a butterfly bandage over his eye.
“You like those, right?” he asked.
Damian blinked down at the bag on the floor. Reese’s cups.
He nodded.
“Good. You and I are patrolling together tonight, got it?” Jason’s tone was decisive, leaving little room for disagreement. Two weeks ago Damian would have bristled at it, but for once, he felt he was reading the older boy correctly, and for all Jason’s gruffness, Damian was certain that this was not an order, but a request.
He nodded again, and Todd’s mouth twitched at the side.
“Wait, you disappear for two weeks and come back with free candy?” Tim exclaimed. “Where’s mine?”
“Get your own, Replacement,” Jason shot back, disappearing back through the door and shouting, “Bruce! C’mon, I wanna kick your ass in pool. Sorry, Alfred…”
Damian ignored Tim’s dumbfounded stare as he bent to pick the candy up off the tile. His chest suddenly felt warm and buoyant, and he lingered out of sight below the table for a second longer than necessary as his lips curled into a tiny smile.

Damienette aranged marriage: part 3
Whoa... Two parts in one day. Sorry if this one is worse, but yet again I wrote this instead of sleeping.
Warning: there will be some cursing from Jason, but can you really blame him? Credits: Miraculous Ladybug team for the elements I take from MLB show. DC for their characters, @ozmav for the AU, @maribat-archive for giving me access to so many different stories to have take inspirations from, @thyladyanput for idea for Chat Damian and me for the plot.

Damienette arranged marriage: Part 3
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“And why would you tell her everything?!” Jason screamed, still hidden behind Batman’s towering posture.
“Because she is my wife Todd!” Damian screamed. The silence in the room was thick enough that if the assassin swinged his sword, he would be able to cut it in half. Finally, Bruce was the one to break it.
“Fuck.”
This worked like detonating a bomb. Immediately, Red Hood, Red Robin and Nightwing pushed their way into the room and surrounded the two teens.
“You were gone for less than forty-eight hours!” Dick
“How did you manage to get married!” Drake
“You are just fifteen demon spawn!” Todd
“And who is she!?” Drake again.
Talia watched this whole ordeal with no small amount of amusement. That is until Bruce suddenly appeared next to her. His frown was downright scary even for her. “Explain. Now!” The growl was low and emotionless, but it was enough to yet again put the room in dead silence.
“Beloved. It is good to see you too.” Talia smiled seductively.
“I am not in the mood. Now talk!”
“Fine.” She dropped all illusion of niceness. “I made peace with old enemy of the League. Or even a shaky alliance. But to seal the treaty, an assurance was required.”
“And that assurance was?” Jason asked confused, earning a facepalm from Dick.
“The Royal Marriage. An heir of the League and future leader of the Order.”
“And that leader would be… her?” Batman asked, not fully convinced.
Marinette was standing there the whole time, greatly uncomfortable with the attention Bat Family was giving her and Damian. She did read a bit on them, but it was always Alya who never shut up about heroes. For the most part, she preferred talk about Ladybug, but lately there was slowly forming a rift. The aspiring reporter was falling into Lila’s lies, posting unreliable videos on Ladyblog. Rossi had it for Ladybug and Alya, together with the rest of Marinette’s class, was falling for her machinations. They still hanged out with Marinette, but there was this distaste forming around her. She was no longer their to-go person with personal problems, being replaced by Lila who was awful at helping others unless it benefited her. But now Marinette had more pressing matter than a pity little liar. She looked at Batman, then at the bat-kids and finally at Damian. They were all looking at her expectantly.
“Oh right! Sorry. I did it again…” She gave them a sheepish smile. “I am Ladybug, hero of Paris and Great Guardian of the Miraculous.” She stated. Most of the heroes (bar Damian who knew a tidy bit about the Order of the Guardians) were confused.
“Paris doesn’t have heroes. There aren’t even any supervillains there.”
“Excuse me?! How does nobody knows what is going on in Paris!” Ladybug shouted. “Ugh! Seriously?!”
Batman narrowed his eyes. “Forgive me, Ladybug, but the Justice League would know if there was a threat in Paris. So who are you really.”
“Then ask Green Lantern. He was the one who laughed at my plea for help.” She scowled, but then her demeanor changed. She calmed down and gave a sheepish smile. “But guess I should thank him. I can only dread what would happen if Superman was akumatized. Or Flash. Or anyone really. I don’t think I could win.”
Batman frowned. He would have a talk with Hal once he dealt with this. If there was really a threat like that, ignoring it was not only stupid, but dangerous. And the girl was at best Damian’s age. She was dealing with this for how long? The way she spoke suggested that she was in charge. A child fighting in a war all alone.
“For now beloved, it should be enough for you that the two of them are legally married.”
“Like hell!” Jason shouted at her, waving his gun. “They are fifteen. No court would accept this.”
“Actually,” Tim started, “under some laws they can be married. For example ‘The Personal Status Law of Muslims’ in Sudan sets the minimum age at ten.” He spoke like he was reading an encyclopedia.
“But we are somewhere between Nepal and China. I don’t think there are such laws here.” Dick said, but his confidence wavered.”
“Tt. First of why don’t anyone ask me or Marinette about our opinion?” Damian asked irritated.
“Shut up Demon Spawn. Adults are working here”
“If you don’t shut up, Todd, I will make you eat your dirty socks until you choke on the stench.” The young boy threatened. Marinette cringed at this, not really wanting to imaging such situation.
“The marriage stays.” Talia stated coldly. “Otherwise, I will not be able to stop League from going to war against Order of the Guardians.”
“You are their leader.” Batman pointed out.
“That may be correct, beloved, but I am but a regent. Only after Damian finally assumes the leadership, his word will be law. I do try to reform the league, but there is little I can do in this situation.”
“Bullshit!” Jason cursed. “You are just manipulative bitch.”
“Jason!” Dick hit the back of Red Hood’s helmet, causing him to almost tumble. “Language. There are minors in the room.”
“Don’t worry Mousier.” Marinette noted that the whole debate shifted to English. She learned it years ago when she first got interested in fashion. Some of the greatest fashion critiques wrote only in English and she didn’t want to be left behind. And other foreign critiques and designers were always translated into English. “After today, cursing is the least of my worries.” During the talk, Marinette pulled her yo-yo to check the situation in Paris. The good news were that there was no Akuma attack since her confrontation with Hawkmoth. Bad news: she was gone for over forty hours already.
“What exactly is the deal?” Bruce sighted. He loved his boys, but he could practically feel his hair graying. At least the girls didn’t go around marrying total strangers. “I want the full story Talia. Don’t even try to deceive us.”
“As you wish Beloved.” She smiled and sat back at her chair. Jason was about to hop onto where Marinette sat, but Damian ‘accidentally’ tripped him. Ladybug detransformed and Tikki flew out.
“What is this flying mouse?!” Dick screeched upon seeing a kwami.
“My name is Tikki. I am kwami, or if you prefer a small god, of creation and luck.”
“Okay… I’ve totally seen weirder.” Jason shrugged and Tim was too busy trying to plug in his pocket kettle to make himself some coffee.
“Ekhm.” Bruce faux-coughted to get their attention. “Begin Talia.”
“Many centuries ago, magic jewels bestowing extraordinary powers were created. These were... the Miraculous. Throughout history, heroes have used these jewels for the good of the human race. Order of The Guardians was responsible for protecting and distributing the Miraculous for the good of all humanity. Some time in the past, League has learned about the existence of this artifacts, more powerful than even Lazarus Pit. A secret war began between two organizations. There was a constant stalemate until the Order was mysteriously destroyed without a trace. We believed all miraculous to be lost until two years ago heroes and villains using them appeared in Paris. Initially, we ignored them, long since abandoning this war. But then, some month ago a temple of the Guardians suddenly reappeared with the Order in chaos. The League attacked, but they were strong enough to withstand the initial strike and turn it into a siege. In time, we would have succeeded and wiped them once and for all. But instead, the Guardians understood their situation and reached to us with agreement. A truce and alliance, in exchange for sparing them.”
“Yeah right! Only an idiot would take such offer!” Red Hood kept arguing with the Assassin woman.
“Or a strategist. Either way, the League wins. They no longer need to worry about threat, but this way they also get an ally.” Batman remained expressionless, but he kept sending Damian and Marinette side-glares. He wanted to know how they are coping with this. The girl was a bit shaken, but that was to be expected. He would talk more with her later. What surprised him was that Damian seemed to show concern for her. The kind he usually reserved only for his brothers and father.
“Yes. While our methods differ, the League and the Order have a common goal: prosperity for all humanity. But to ensure that neither side would go against the other, there needed to be a more tangible symbol of this union.”
“Marriage of the heirs. In the past such method was often used to symbolize an alliance. It symbolized equality of both partners and parties they represented.” Tim acted as an universal encyclopedia again, which Jason did exploit to tease him mercilessly while the others focused on the discussion.
“And let me guess” Dick frowned. “If they break the deal, it means war?”
“Yes.” Damian simply nodded. The memory of his mother’s threat hanging over the girl’s live was still fresh. Now that he got to know her better Damian was surprised that someone so brave and strong could at the same time be such emotionally unstable or open. It was almost refreshing. His family was awful with emotions and beyond that women only saw his last name. Many times he dealt with liars who tried to use him to get into the pockets of his father. But with Marinette he was sure that she was genuine with her feelings. He could not find any reason for her not to be at the moment, especially after she revealed her secret to him.
“So what? We are just supposed to roll with it? What will press think? You will give Alfred a heart attack Damian.” Dick rambled. Youngest Wayne decided to ignore him and turn to his father.
“While this might be a bit inconvenient, I believe it is the best course of action for now.” Damian spoke with cold and calculative voice.
“And what about you?” Batman turned to the girl, who for the most part lately was busy discussing something with the kwami in French. Bruce was proficient, but he was too focused on Talia and Damian.
“I… I accepted that my duty as Great Guardian comes with certain responsibilities. If this is what it takes to preserve peace, then I guess… I guess I will roll with it.” She smiled at Dick, almost daringly. Damian smiled too. Anyone who teased his brothers like that earned some points in his book. “But I can’t just leave Paris. For now it’s peaceful, but I don’t know how long it will last. And there are my parents… Oh Kwami! What will I tell my parents! Or my friends! Or my class! What if they reject me for this and I will be kicked from home, then I will not become a professional designer and I will never fulfill my dream and I will be forever lonely…” She unintentionally rambled in mixture of English and French while walking in circle and waving her hands. Damian grabbed her by her wrists to stop her before she accidentally knocked someone out and then cupped her hands with his. She was still talking random stuff, which made absolutely zero sense. Damn. She is cute when she is rambling. What!? He shut down the intrusive thoughts and focused on the girl… his wife.
“Calm down. Take deep breaths. You will not be alone.” He hoped it would work, but she barely slowed down. He sighted. Damian looked her deep in her bluebell eyes and she saw the two whirlpools of jade green he had. They were more prominent that Adrien’s. “Listen to my voice. All is going to be fine. We will not leave you.” This time, it did work and she calmed down.
Rest of the Batfam watched in shock how Damian has acted. It was most unusual for him to initiate physical contact at all, much less act this gentle. They looked at Talia, but she shrugged.
“I didn’t do anything if that’s what you think.” She smirked. “But I don’t think I needed.” Two newly-wed were just standing there, starring in each other’s eyes.
“Robin!” Batman finally got him to break out of this. “We gotta go. We will figure out exactly what to do later.”
“Fine. But we are taking Marinette with us.” Damian stubbornly stated.
“Yes. She should not stay here. And I have more questions for her.”
The flight to Paris was surprisingly fast. They traveled in perfect silence, but she felt rather uncomfortable with how everyone (bar Damian) sent her a suspicious glares. Finally, they landed around 8 PM on the rooftop of local Wayne Enterprises headquarter. She walked out first, happy to finally get back onto her home turf.
“Now there are some questions that needs to be answered.” Batman spoke.
“Uhm… Okay?”
“Stop intimidating her Father.” Damian scowled.
Bruce reluctantly nodded. “Maybe it would be the best to discuss it in private of my office.” He pressed some buttons on his glove and the bat-plane camouflage. Well, it was probably more of Bat-cargo plane since it could fit six people comfortably and still have much space free.
They got into the office, where Bruce had a total of five armchairs set around the coffee table. Immediately, Damian and Dick took two of them, leaving the head one for Bruce and one in between the two Waynes for Marinette. Tim didn’t bother trying to fight with Jason over who gets the last place, instead opting to just jump onto computer chair at the desk and activating a holo-screen. He quickly connected to Batcomputer and started to pull various files (mostly on Marinette and her close ones, but she didn’t see it).
“So tell me. What is our young couple planning to do now?” Dick teased them.
Jason was standing next to the alcohol bar, pouring several glasses of whiskey. Before Bruce could protest, he brought five and placed them on the table. His reaction to disapproving glare from the other adults was to just shrug. “What? They are married. I think underage drinking would be the least of the problems. Oh! That reminds me.” Jason grinned maliciously and pulled his wallet. He tossed something square and silver at Damian. “I don’t want any demon spawns junior running around soon.”
Once Marinette realized what was that and what was he implying she turned redder than Tim’s outfit. Damian scowled. “I have a sword on me Todd, so watch what you are saying. I might not have chosen her to be my bride, but I will not let you embarrass her just for your fun.”
Jason saw an opportunity and he would be damned if he didn’t take it. “Which sword are you talking about?”
Damian hissed like an angry cat and drawn his sword, lunging at his brother. Todd initially wanted to block the attack with his gun, but fine steel cut right through it. Seeing murder in Damian’s face he did the only plausible thing: started to run.
Marinette was inventing new shades of red with her blushing. Bruce gave her an apologetic look. “Please, don’t take his comments to heart. Jason is…” before batman could find a right word there was a sound of something crashing, followed by a painful yelp. In just a moment, Damian returned happy, his sword a bit bloody.
“Please tell me you didn’t kill him…” Dick begged. Marinette was not sure whether this was a joke or not, but the longer she stayed with the batfam, the less sane they appeared.
“Nah. But he didn’t look where he was running and toppled the stack of boxes and I ended up stabbing him in his left calf. He will live.” Damian assured them. And true to his words, a limping Jason appeared in the doors. He grabbed a fresh bottle of whiskey on his way to the armchair and slumped resigned. “Demon spawn!”
“Idiot!”
“Enough!” Bruce wanted to pull his hair out. “We came here to discuss a certain situation not stab each other. Marinette?”
“Yes monsieur Wayne?” She asked, still stunned with what happened. She had to admit Damian acter chiviliarus protecting her honor, even if his way was pretty violent.
“I was trying to ask you, what do you plan on doing now?”
“I… I don’t know. This all happened so fast…”
“It’s okay. I don’t think anyone would have a plan for such situation.” Dick reassured her
“Bruce does. It’s inside the safe in the batcave in folder labeled ‘Talia never gives up’.” Tim chimed in before returning to his research.
“Well, no one sane has such plans.” Dick tried to cheer her up. It did work even if just a bit. “But ask yourself what do you want.”
“Well… I would wish to finish my education and I always dreamed about becoming a professional fashion designer.”
“And how is this plan working so far?” Bruce inquired.
“Well, I do run a small internet boutique, where I take commissions and uncle Jagged refuses to wear anything that wasn’t personally designed by me.” She said casually.
“Wait a moment… Uncle Jagged as in Jagged Stone, the world-class rock musician?!” Tim suddenly shouted.
“Uh… yes?” She got confused
“But his only designer is the mysterious MDC! That would mean you are MDC!”
“Uh… yes?” Marinette had no idea why Tim acted like that.
“Oh god! Oh god! I got to meet MDC! Can I get your authograph?” He was suddenly next to her, holding a copy of the her first album cover she made for Jagged.
“Sure.” She signed it and handed it back. It read: ‘Good luck TD, MDC’.
Tim Fainted.

I love your insights of the show! Thoughts on Billy? Do you think in the case he survived, he could have been part of the Party, the Scoops Troop or the Monster Hunting trio? Also, in which family situation would be Max on season 4? The writers will touch the matter she's still living with abusive parents and was left with unsolved feelings overall?
Hi Anon! Thank you so much, that’s really nice to hear!
In order to try to uphold my reputation as a straight shooter I will preface this with the fact that I truly viscerally, despise Billy and consider the idea that you naturally love or should forgive someone for truly horrible behavior on the basis of them being family, or that he was probably secretly a good brother to Max despite literally everything we see being contrary to that to be legitimately concerning.
That said- I DIDN’T hate Billy as a character in S2- I mean, I did hate him obviously because he was repulsive as a human being but I really liked the inclusion of him in the show and he was a great version of the over-the-top brutal-too-old-for-high-school-looking-classic-1980′s -Henry Bowers-style bully (Omg...I just realized...are there Henry Bowers fangirls? You know what, don’t tell me I don’t want to know) and that was awesome .
And then...S3. Oh, S3 Billy. This is the only time I will ever type these words but... Billy (and the audience in general) deserved better solely because literally everything about the character development was so stunningly lazy. Why is he getting along better with Max? Why does she give a shit about him now? (because they’re family is not being accepted as an answer at this time) Just shrugging and shoving ESSENTIAL character development that fundamentally changes a core relationship dynamic between seasons is insane and then making him a mind-controlled husk of a hive mind instead of a Renfield with some measure of agency makes sure he doesn’t get real development during the season since he’s spending most of it literally not himself. And then to take what could have been really interesting aspects of the character (the complexity of the cyclical nature of abuse, the conundrum it could have been for El if the fact that he was at the very least emotionally abusive to Max and had tried to hurt Lucas had actually been examined instead of brushed under the rug and how she should feel about that as someone that survived horrific abuse from a father figure and very much DOES NOT want to hurt people and if she sees parallels with Kali, more into how the Mind Flayer’s MO is practically Silent Hill-level representative of the psychology of being dominated and the parallels with his father, etc. etc.) and reduce it to ‘Look, he used to be a cute a kid before he was abused. He had a mom!’ which is basically the ‘The sky is blue and water is wet’ lowest common denominator of manipulating sympathy for violent offenders and abusers...
Lazy.
I’m not even going to get into the fact that his big character moment was basically the ‘Save Martha’ scene from Batman V Superman.
Do you think in the case he survived, he could have been part of the Party, the Scoops Troop or the Monster Hunting trio?
No, in all three cases. He has either beat the ever-loving shit out of or threatened to beat the shit out of one member of all three groups for absolutely no reason. This is a poor basis for a friendship.
I guess at least Robin and Erica don’t know him, though I honestly can’t imagine Robin would be able to spend more than twenty seconds tolerating his hyper-masculine bullshit without wanting to commit homicide. And I won’t even go into why he and Erica obviously wouldn’t get along because Dacre Montgomery will swing down from the rafters to tell me ‘people like that’ just means he hates nerds that wear bandannas.
Also, in which family situation would be Max on season 4? The writers will touch the matter she's still living with abusive parents and was left with unsolved feelings overall?
Hm. I don’t think there’s any evidence that Susan is abusive- passive and complicit in abuse obviously, but not actively abusive and S2 Max seemed to mostly be afraid of Billy, not Neal, which obviously doesn’t mean he never would/will harm her but indicates to me that Billy was singled out in the household.
I honestly don’t know what we’ll see of Max’s family even though it would make sense to sort of be a big deal that didn’t stop them from shoe-horning her character development in between seasons last time so...
Thanks for the ask Anon! I hope it was satisfying even though I obviously have pretty strong personal takes on this one.

So I decided to rewatch Suicide Squad and I have some thoughts...
This isn’t really a review so much as it’s just a series of thoughts and impressions. I will say that while it’s still one of the worst made films I’ve ever seen, it’s never boring, which is by far the biggest sin a film can commit. It’s bullshit but it’s consistently interesting bullshit which makes it better than something like Fant4stic, which is as bad and incoherant but also just incredibly dull. I don’t think this could ever have been a good film, there was too much massively wrong with it before shooting even started to have been salvagable, but I do think it could have been a lot more coherant if it hadn’t been for the reshoots, re-edits, re-edits of re-edits and all the the other stuff that happened to it post production. Unlike something like BvS, I get why some people liked this one.
On that note, while I am going to end on a few possitives this basically a roast so if you don’t want to read about a film getting picked apart, this probably won’t be your jam. But if like me you find critiques of bad movies cathartic, read on. I’m not the first person to do this, but I’ve spotted some stuff I haven’t seen anyone else talk about so hopefully there’ll be something new for you.
All the dialogue is just slightly off in a way that’s hard to pin down, in the way that a lot of comprehensible stuff written by computers and neural networks is just slightly off. It’s got that phishing email or pornbot quality to it. Literally the fourth or fifth line in the film is Griggs saying about the prison rations, “...Everything a growing young man needs like you”, which isn’t nonsense, but is clearly wrong, and a lot of the lines have that quality to them.
In a similar vein, Deadshot’s daughter is written like she’s five or six, but the actress looks about twelve. I actually went and checked how old she was when this released, because I know white people are often wildly bad at judging the ages of black kids and I’m bad at judging ages in general, but no, she was 12 or 13 when this was shot, so why’s she written like a toddler? She doesn’t give a good performance (which is not the actresses fault, Will Smith barely gives a good performance in this and he can do this shit in his sleep, there’s no way a kid could have risen above the terrible script and direction) which makes it even worse, because you’ve got this pre-teen delivering dialogue written for a kindergardener in a way that feel like it’s maybe the first time she’s ever seen the script, and it makes what is otherwise one of the most competant scenes in the movie feel just as off as everything else.
The Joker. A lot of people have written a lot about Leto’s Joker but I want to add two things to the discussion I haven’t seen talked about much before. Firstly, before the electro-shock torture and acid bath, he and Harley have no romance. Like, explicitly, there is no romance, or even cammeraderie there. He’s her patient. She’s his jailer. He didn’t seduce her, he just tortured her until she gave in. That’s literally shown in the film. Even after the torture when she’s now on side he still really doesn’t like her, and not in a Paul Dini BTAS he doesn’t like her but he also wants her around kind of way. He doesn’t want her in his life. He orders her to leave him alone and she fucking stalks him. That’s not even subtext, she is specifically his stalker, because apparently the solution to the relationship being abusive was to retconn Harley into also being a creep as though that somehow solves something.
Secondly, Joker isn’t smart. Not only is he no longer emotionally intelligent (and comics Joker is many terrible things but he’s probably the most emotionally intelligent character in DC, that’s a lot of what makes him so dangerous because it’s how he manipulates people) he’s not intelligent full stop. His great plan for breaking out of Arkham? Some of his goons from the outside literally just shoot their way in to get to him. Even leaving aside the fact that Arkham apparently isn’t set up to deal with that kind of violence in this world despite Batman having been opperating for a decade, that’s not a clever plan, and it’s not Joker’s plan. 'Hope some of my dudes are loyal enough to come get me’ isn’t any kind of escape plan, and nothing we see after that point suggests that this was a moment of weakness. Joker just straight up isn’t very bright in this, which is weird because that’s one of the few genuinely consistent character traits he has. He’s no Riddler, sure, but he’s really smart and that makes him hard to contain.
Ayer made Harley functionally a sex worker in this, and it doesn’t actually matter that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with sex work or that sex work is real work, because David Ayer definitely thinks there is, and also really really hates women. David Ayer hates women so goddamn much. The only thing Slipknot does in the entire film apart from die is hit a woman just for being a woman.
When Waller arrives at Belle Reve, Croc is doing push ups. And that’s fine, it’s a classic movie shorthand for ‘bored prisoner is also fit and strong’, but the actor isn’t actually doing pushups. He’s got one knee tucked under his body to support his weight, and is clearly actually just sort of bobbing his head. What I suspect happened is that the prosthetics on his arms and chest were too heavy to allow that kind of movement, which would tie up with the stiff way he holds his arms throughout the film, but he’s not even bothering to pretend very hard and it adds to this pervading sense of off-kilter wrongness the film has.
Rick Flagg is supposed to be ‘the best special forces opperative this country has’, but he’s... really bad? He’s no use in any of the fights, he’s incapable of working with a team and has zero interpersonal skills, and when he’s assigned to be a bodyguard, he immediately starts fucking his client which is like, bodyguarding rule 1. He’s really bad at his job. (Which would be fine if the explanation was that he’s a fucking psychopath who’s 100% willing to just murder a civilian in the line of duty, but he’s meant to be Hannibal Smith more than Dirty Harry, and also if he is here because he’s a psychopath, why did Amanda Waller assume June Moon would be into that?!) He even has to be blackmailed into joining the opperation, so he’s incompetent, unprofessional, causes unecessary conflict, and isn’t even loyal to the project, so why him and not, I don’t know, literally any other character?
On the subject of June Moon, she goes (alone) on an archeological dig in a rainforest somewhere, finds a cave full of human remains and ancient artefacts, and literally her first action is to deliberately smash one of the artefacts, presumably just to see what would happen? IDK! We never get any explanation for that, but it’s definitely meant to be deliberate and not accidental when she smashes it! Why are archeologists in movies all so terrible?!
People have joked a lot about the fact that the movie changes the purpose of the squad from ‘plausibly deniable black ops, especially on American soil’, to ‘punching Superman’ but kept Captain Boomerang on the team, but there is actually an explanation given. A really really stupid explanation. Amanda Waller says that he’s there because ‘he faced down a metahuman and survived’, referring to him surviving being arrested. By the Flash. Who is famously non violent, and in fact in the next film in the series specifically says he’s never fought someone. So Boomer is on the team because he didn’t die when Flash picked him up and carried him to a police station, and Amanda Waller thinks that’s some kind of achievement. Like that isn’t the case for literally everyone the Flash has ever caught. And Flash is a street level hero, so that’s a whole lot of muggers and purse snatchers who are apparently capable of fist fighting Superman by Waller’s logic.
(On the same note as the Joker, Waller is also now incredibly stupid, but she’s mostly stupid for plot related reasons, so it sort of gets a pass? It gets more of a pass than the Joker at least, because making him comics-smart wouldn’t have necessatitated changing anything else about the film)
Re: Waller’s stupidity, her whole plan for recruiting El Diablo to the squad is... show him a video of him setting fire to some dudes. That’s it. She doesn’t even speak to him, she literally just holds up the video to the little window in his tank and seems surprised when that by itself isn’t enough.
And then when Flagg is like ‘hey let me try persuading him with actual arguments instead of just a weird video’, Diablo’s response is “You think you’re the first person to ask? I won’t do it. I’m a man not a weapon”, which gives us the amazing insight that in Ayer’s version of the DCU, there are apparently just... other Taskforce Xs running around. Other government agencies recruiting metahuman soldiers. So what exactly was the point of the half an hour or so of footage of her persuading the brass to go along with it? Because apparently they’re fine with this if every agency is doing it!
Tone? What even is tone. Griggs both has an antagonist but banter-y relationship with and brings cookies to the prisoners, but also he tortures them and is implied to be sexually abusing Harley, and like... you can’t have it both ways, Ayer. This is a one or the other situation. They can’t have a fun and jokey relationship with a man who is explicitly torturing and abusing them. Tone. You need to pick a fucking tone!
The decision to add a subplot about Deadshot being involved in a custody battle with his ex-wife was a fascinatingly terrible choice, and honestly tells you a lot about Ayer’s relationship to MRA talking points. Like, we know nothing about Deadshot’s wife except that she raised a cute well adjusted kid, so probably a pretty good parent, and that she doesn’t want her daughter to be spending time with a MASS MURDERER! So definitely a good parent! The comics just kind of handwave away Zoe’s mom most of the time, which was the right choice, because Ayer wants us to be on Deadshot’s side here, but it’s literally a choice between "a serial killer but you take credit cards” and a normal loving parent and somehow he thinks serial killer is the right answer? WTF happened in Ayer’s life that he thinks this is a choice where we side with Deadshot?! And it’s not even visitation rights or anything, Deadshot wants full custody. And the film thinks he’s in the right!
Tumblr media
Not once, at any job I have ever had, one of which was a tourist attraction that required all visitors to wear a pass, have I ever seen someone wear a visitors pass on their sleeve. Not once. And it’s honestly such a good summary of the pervading wrongness of this film. This doesn’t feel like it was made by people. It feels like it was made by middlingly intelligent algorithms trying to pass as human.
Tumblr media
Someone please tell me what the fuck any of this set is supposed to mean. The pose feels deliberate, but it’s not invoking anything I can see except the hanged man from the Ryder-Waite tarot deck, the halo of knives almost looks like it’s pseudo-religious imagery except that it’s not a full halo, the circle is incomplete on one side because of a broken piano, does the piano mean something? What about the babygrows, do they mean something? Does the Joker... want kids? Kill kids? Think Harley’s pregant? What the hell is any of this supposed to mean, and if, as I suspect, it was never supposed to mean anything why the fuck did they go to the trouble of making it?! What exactly does the hours this took to put together add to the movie?
David Ayer has a really weird relationship with both gang culture and latino gang culture specifically. He always feels the need to shoehorn them in somehow, and it’s this weird love-hate relationship where he apparently thinks latino gangs are so cool they have to be in everything, but is also so fucking racist he’s incapable of having a latino character who isn’t in a gang. Also in order to shoehorn them in here, he basically removed all of Joker’s henchmen (except for one scene which serves no narrative purpose) and replaced when with generic racist-stereotype LA gangs.
The fact that Griggs just hands Harley the phone in front of all the other guards and soliders was A Choice. Made even more so by the fact that Griggs never actually pay off. He gives Harley the phone, she tells him he’s “so screwed now”, and then... nothing. He’s just gone for the rest of the movie. He’s not even in the epilogue back in prison scenes.
I fucking love that the first thing Waller does is tell the world’s best assassin her real name. That is just... *chefs kiss* Everyone in this film is so fucking stupid.
I knew it was coming. I knew it was coming and I remembered the line perfectly, and I still had to stop the film because I was laughing too hard for “Ah would advise naht gettin’ killed by her, her sword traps the souls of its victims”. It’s the ‘that wizard came from the moon’ of film dialogue, and no one could have made it work, but the southern accent is really what makes that line delivery. I don’t know why, there’s just something about it in that drawl that it just endlessly hilarious.
It really is impressive how every character in this manages to be an offensive stereotype, sometimes multiple offensive stereotypes at once.
I love how Flagg’s right-hand woman is a samurai with a magical possessed sword that traps the souls of the damned who also isn’t military and refuses to speak English most of the time, but the squad are too weird for him. “You won’t believe it, this guy Boomerage, he’s got these bent stick things, and when he throws them they come back! I am freaking out, I can’t deal with this. Oh hi Katana, trap any damned souls lately?”
Harley is explicitly malicious in this in a way no other version of Harley has ever been, which is a Freudian nightmare when you combine it with her also being more sexualised than ever, and more infantalised than any version outside the Arkham games. Someone get Ayer a goddamn therapist. (Also in the vein of everyone being dumb in this, Harley is now an absolutely terrible psychiatrist and all her diagnoses are explicitly wrong, so that’s fun.)
The fucking pink unicorn-bundle of money switcheroo. There’s nothing to say on it that hasn’t already been said but holy shit. How do you fuck something up that bad? How? It’s like looking into Chekov’s nightmares and finding a pink stuffed unicorn staring back.
I love the way the soliders just come and go in this. Are they dead, are they alive, have they abandonned the cause? Why the fuck knows? Certainly not the editors!
I love how we’re supposed to be really sad about El Diablo being dead, but not care that Croc is seemingly directly underneath the explosion and definitely about to die, that’s fun.
I need to know if it was Ayer or Cara Delavigne’s choice to make Enchantress be just.. doing a little dance. Duing all the ‘tense’ moments. Because there are probably things which undercut tension more than the bad guy having a bit of boogy, but not many.
Enchantress gets so many costume changes, and I want to believe that they’re all from different versions of the film but I honestly think it was deliberate and I need someone on in the design department for this movie to tell me why because it add nothing.
I think the best thing about the stupidly on the nose liscenced soundtrack is that it just disappears once they arrive in Midway city. After spirit in the sky it’s original music all the way until the final scene. The great soundtrack DC stans insist this film has is literally only in the first 50 minutes and the last 2 of a 2hr+ movie.
The glorification of abuse in this is... seriously fucking something else. Twilight doesn’t have a patch on this. 50 Shades of Grey doesn’t have a patch on this. This shit is disgusting, and the fact that they pushed so hard to get it a child friendly rating is just morally bankrupt.
Possitive note to end on:
The dialogue is way too on the nose and exposition dump-y but the scene in the bar works pretty well. It fulfils its role in the story, and gives us a decent dose of team bonding.
Deadshot and Harley have great chemistry, and Boomer is perfectly cast, in a way that makes me really hopeful for James Gunn’s take on the team. A writer who knows how to write friendships could do a lot with the three of them, and they’ve been the core squad since 2011 so they’re the ones who matter. It probably helps that whatever Will Smith’s faults as an actor, you could cast him opposite a housebrick and they’d somehow have great chemistry.

DANNY PHANTOM FAN CAST
Danny Phantom premiered on Nickelodeon in 2004 in a time when life seemed much simpler. All my seven year old self had to worry about was finishing my homework fast enough so I can spend the rest of the day watching cartoons. Now as an adult not much has really changed there's just less book reports and division. The past couple of years have been all about remakes, reboots and nostalgia ploys. It seems Hollywood has found away to make easy money by preying on our desires to relive our childhoods. Well I say if we're going to be emotionally manipulated, why not bring back a cult classic like Danny Phantom.
While coming up with a potential cast I struggled with whether or not to cast actors who actually look 14 or pull a Riverdale and cast 20 somethings who look like abercrombie models. I ultimately chose to do both where in the series would start with 14 year old danny than flashforward to modern day to an older danny and his friends in college. Alternatively we could start with an older cast and periodically flashback to their youth with both storylines coming together in the end to reveal a bigger mystery.
(also I changed the Fentons ethnicity to latinx so this is not race bending)
MAIN CAST
Danny Fenton/Phantom
Tumblr media
Isaak Presley / David Castro
It's been a little over a decade since defeating Vlad Plasmius and saving Amity Park. Danny has become a worldwide superhero sensation while also juggling college and spending time with his girlfriend Paulina. Sam and Danny had broken up after sam notices shades of Dark Danny in his behavior. (dont worry they're endgame we just need some drama)
Sam Manson
Tumblr media
Sadie Stanley /Kelli Berglund
After the break up Sam refocuses her efforts to converting ectoplasm into sustainable energy. She hopes that with this seemingly Infinite source of energy she can stop the effects of climate change before our Earth is damage any further. Working on her masters in bioengineering as well as providing tactical support for The Banshees, sam may have bitten of more than she can chew.
Tucker Foley
Tumblr media
Caleel Harris / Spence Moore II
Mayor Foley when not working on his campaign for governor he is calling every political favor he can to keep Danny's increasingly aggressive tactics from creating an international incident. All while maintaining a secret relationship with his head of security Dash Baxter
Jazz Fenton
Tumblr media
Elizabeth Elias/Marianly Tejada
After a falling out with her brother Jazz decides that the world needs a more level headed hero. She forms the Banshees with Valerie Gray, a ghost hunting super team of bad ass ladies. Members include her mother Maddie, Valerie Gray, Dani and occasionally Sam Manson.
Jack Fenton
Tumblr media
Ricardo Chavira
Although present in flashbacks Jack Fenton has been missing for three years in present day. This is the inciting incident that leads Danny down a dark path. "Where is Jack Fenton?" would be the overarching mystery of the series.
Maddie Fenton
Tumblr media
Felicia Day (honestly who else)
Distraught over her husband's disappearance Maddie grapples with her alchohol addiction and fear of what her son is becoming. Though battling demons of her own this doesn't stop Maddie from hunting down ghost with The Banshees.
Vlad Masters/Plasmius
Tumblr media
Julian McMahon (again who else)
Years in the harshness of space gave Vlad plenty of time to reflect and atone for his sins. His return to earth as a pacifist rubs danny the wrong way. With good reason Vlad good guy act is all a ruse to get revenge on the Fenton family. His plans are rendered moot when he realizes that the disappearance of his old friend has already broken the family. (Possible affair with Maddie Fenton you know for the drama)
RECURRING CAST
Valerie Gray
Tumblr media
Marsai Martin/Asha Bromfield
Leader of The Banshees shes one of the few ghost hunters who's popularity rivals that of Danny Phantom, often being seen as the batman to his superman. Haunted by the disappearance of Jack Fenton, Valerie is the last person to have seen him alive. With no recollection of what happened that night or how she ended up stranded in the ghost zone will she ever shake off the overwhelming feeling of guilt.
Dash Baxter
Tumblr media
Christian Weissmann/Wolfgang Novogratz
Having mellowed out with age Dash now uses his skills has head of security for Amnity Park's Mayor Tucker Foley. After spending year struggling with his sexuality Dash has finally accepted his identity as a gay man, but will his relationship with his boss force him to go back in the proverbial closet.
Paulina Singh
Tumblr media
Saara Chaudry/Soma Bhatia
Using her status as Danny Phantoms girlfriend Paulina has become one of the most followed influencers in the world and with her Bachelor's degree in marketing has made herself into a very lucrative brand. Behind the scenes Paulina's being manipulated by an unknown figure to get Intel on Danny and the other Ghost hunters.
(I changed Paulina last name from Sanchez to Singh to match my choice of actress)
As you probably may have noticed through the Snippets of each character description Danny will eventually become the villain of the series. it will be up to the rest of Team Phantom to take him down, but will they be able to save the friend they once knew and loved. If you enjoyed this article please give it a like or comment and if you didn't, comment what you didn't like. I'm also working on an all ghosts cast list as well as a Ben 10 fan cast cuz I have no life.

harley quinn & poison ivy
TW: abuse (physical, emotional, verbal)
buckle in kids, this is going to be a long one.
so lately I've been seeing people talking about how ivy is abusive to harley as well, just to a lesser extent, but is as equally toxic as joker x harley. it’s been used as a justification for supporting/shipping harley x joker and for shit talking harley quinn as a character. so im here to clear some stuff up.
now don’t get me wrong-- harley & ivy’s initial relationship was awful, especially as portrayed in the 2007 Harley & Ivy comic book. ivy was pretty physically aggressive with harley and said some hurtful things. i’m not going to sugar coat it, because the beginning of their relationship was not healthy whatsoever.
HOWEVER, keep in mind the past of both characters, as well as more recent media.
a lot of people know harley’s backstory and how she was abused by the joker. but i feel like a lot of people forget that ivy was also heavily abused. she didn’t become poison ivy of her own free will, and there’s a reason she hates men. as pamela isley, she was seduced by her professor, jason woodrue (floronic man) and he uses her as his test subject in his experiments, completely using her and abusing her trust. he nearly killed her twice and drove her insane. when the authorities began to close in, woodrue just ups and leaves ivy in the hospital. her heart is broken, she feels betrayed, and she swears to never trust anyone again-- especially not men. so yeah, harley isn’t the only one with a messed up, ptsd inducing past
as those who have been through abuse may know or have experienced, it’s not uncommon to develop unhealthy coping mechanisms and/or behaviors as a result of a traumatic event. especially when the victim does not get proper help from professionals or other available resources. for ivy, she became hateful to the world, trusting only herself. when harley tries to get close, ivy pushes her away in the only way she can think will make harley permanently leave her alone: physical violence. now i am NOT condoning her behavior or saying it was okay in any capacity. there is no excuse for being violent towards anyone, especially a ‘friend’. but i’m just giving an explanation for the behavior.
at the same time, however, harley isn’t exactly the pinnacle of being the perfect partner. she doesn’t respect ivy’s space and is actually quite emotionally manipulative. despite the fact ivy constantly tells harley to leave joker, knowing that it pains ivy to see harley leave again and again to go back to her abuser, she continues to do so. harley has straight up left her ‘best friend’ for the joker, and no matter how many ultimatums ivy gives her, harley always chooses the joker. if you have a best friend who did this to you, how would you feel?
so yeah, they both had some awful tendencies and treated each other awfully in the beginning. that’s just the fact of the matter. but also remember the context: they’re both abused individuals who have been through hell and back, and who are trying to cope the best way they know how. once again, it does NOT excuse their treatment of each other, but it does give in context.
however, despite everything, they watch out for each other and they stick together. they see each other as kindred spirits, and it’s what brings them together, and also what helps them to grow together, both as friends/a couple and as individuals. ivy learns to trust again, and is no longer physically abusive to harley. while she does have some tough love for harley at times, in recent years (2011-) she is doesn’t verbally accost harley anymore either. harley has learned to stand up to the joker and that she has self worth, and has since left the joker’s side, breaking her cycle of abuse as well as letting herself have healthier behaviors in terms of her relationships with others, especially ivy. harley & ivy have changed since the 2007 Harley & Ivy comic, where most people draw examples of their unhealthy relationship. not to mention, most people in comics know a lot of things get retconned, but one thing that has always been constant since Harley’s conception 27 years ago is that the joker abuses and uses her.
but unlike the joker, who discards harley time and time again, ivy is always there for harley no matter what. ivy even went as far as dressing up as harley so the joker would shoot her instead of shooting harley. in harley’s first comic appearance in batman adventures #12, when barbara hits harley a bit too hard in the head, instead of leaving harley out to dry or continuing her fight with the batgirl, ivy pushes barbara out of the way to check to see how harley is doing. when she saw harley on the verge of death after the joker tried to kill her by strapping her to a rocket, she healed harley up and even gave her immunity to her poisons and toxins despite not being terribly close to the clownette at the time. harley, despite her dislike of bugs and the outdoors, willingly goes to the amazon with ivy to help collect plants. she makes time out of her schedule, no matter what is going on, to visit ivy and take her on trips. she always checks to make sure ivy is okay with her relationships (such as when harley was interested in mason, or when harley picked up a ‘pet’ from the beach). she constantly reassures ivy of her love and affection for her, and to let ivy know that she has her back no matter what.
no relationship is perfect, and harley and ivy aren’t an exception to the rule. as I see it, you can either see the old harley & ivy (2007) as being retconned (seeing as since new 52 they’ve changed harley’s backstory anyway) or you can see it as a starting point for the development of a relationship between two abused individuals with unhealthy coping mechanisms who slowly heal together and push each other to improve as individuals and as in their relationship, and who now have a strong, loving, healthy relationship.
if you need instances/’proof’ of what i’m spewing, hmu. if you think I'm pulling the abuse leading to toxic behaviors out of my ass, hmu. like i said, i do not condone any abusive behavior, no matter what the excuse is behind it. however, context gives new meaning to things, even if it doesn't justify it. yes, harley and ivy did not have the best of relationships at the beginning, but their relationship as portrayed since 2011 is extremely healthy and loving.
honestly for just about any relationship in comic books you can find an instance of abusive behavior. do you really think it’s a healthy relationship for catwoman & batman to be together, given they have physically fought each other repeatedly? I honestly have nothing against selina x bruce, but one can easily point to that as being abusive and unhealthy. same goes for lois and clark, seeing as lois has constantly shoved away clark until she found out he was superman, and suddenly he was good enough for her. anything can be twisted, but when given the full context, things change. and that goes for harley & ivy as well.
but one thing has always remained no matter the continuity: harley & joker are an abusive, unhealthy couple no matter what context. (yes, even in white knight-- i mean the joker/jack didn’t even recognize the fact the harley was proposing to wasn’t even the real harley. what does that say about him and how he viewed harley all those years?)

Character Sheet (Pt.1)
·       The ‘Doc’: Tall man with messy black hair so dark it appears blue under certain lighting. Is mixed with South American, black and Middle Eastern. Very handsome despite sometimes unkept appearance. Has a blunt, straightforward personality and is trusted by many thanks to his disposition. The leader and Founder of the Doctor’s Organization and has the registration of Doctor 0. Has magical crows as companions. Has a tense relation ship with the Batfam, Batman in particular. Father of Khioni and Talia. Had a hard past and has led him to the work he does today.
Abilities include hand-to-hand combat, healing and diplomatic skills. Is a genius that has near mastered all forms of healing, thanks to passion he has for helping others.
·       Drew: Young man with light blue eyes and at times no pupils. Looked upon as a ‘pretty boy’.Is Caucasian male with strawberry blond hair. Has a seemingly polite, calm personality, however, is the epitome of a perfect killer. His true personality is a bit dorky and softer. An aura user, and the eldest of his ‘family’ that has the ability to wield aura. Is known as the Warlock to others. Had extremely difficult past. Loves his siblings dearly, and has proven he will die and kill for them. Blood brother to Hunter and Axel. Has tense relationship with the Batfam, Nightwing in particular. Once significant other of Collins, and still the best friend of Amani.
Abilities include Aura, hand to hand combat and infiltration.
·       Amani: Round faced young woman who appears to be somewhere from the middle east. Very pretty with short, choppy hair. Has a quiet personality, however has proven herself to be very kind and bright and as much of a dork as Drew. Still, not one to be underestimated. Has large, dark eyes. An ‘honorary’ member of the family, even though she can technically use her aura as well. Once an assassin and is now a ‘freelancer’. Had a hard past. Once best friends with Collins and still best friends with Drew. Has tense relationship with the Batfamily, Nightwing in particular.
Abilities include hand to hand combat, powers and stealth.
·       Collins: Clone of Superman and Wonderwoman. Despite this, kind of just wants a peaceful life to do whatever he wants. Handsome but moody. Has black hair and electric blue eyes. Too infatuated with Drew to even look at anyone else. Though he seems to be very antisocial- and is- he proves to be a true son of both of these heroes with his heart of gold, and is a bit of a geek; a bit too stoic and refined to be as dorky as Amani and Drew, but has his moments. Once had severe anger issues, but has calmed down with age. Is now a member of the Titans with Nightwing, though the two do not interact with each other much anymore. Strained relationship with the Batfam, Nightwing in particular. Once significant others with Drew and best friends with Amani.
Abilities too many to name lmao
·       Khioni: Black hair and dark blue eyes. Looks extremely like Doc, but with softer edges and darker skin.  Talia’s mother killed his own in hopes to raise her own offspring’s chances of survival. Cannot use his aura like his siblings, and instead relies on Auratech to harness it. However, has been noted as a genius for even making it in the first place. Is very introverted, mostly due to depression. However, he is ultimately more of Doc’s son than anyone realizes and harbors a good heart and kindness, though is ruthless if anyone threatens his family. Tough not the strongest, he is perhaps the smartest of his family. One of the people to take the hardest hits emotionally and spiritually thanks to the Falling Out. The blood son of Doc, and half-brother to Talia. Once the significant others of Collins, and past best friend of Stephanie Brown. Has tense relationship with Batfam, Spoiler in particular.
Abilities include Auratech, high intellect and some hand to hand combat and weaponry
·       Talia: Long, curly black hair and dark eyes that occasionally appear to be tinted red. Is Arabic and everything Doc is, but with darker skin. Usually wears lipstick and whatnot. Has a beauty mark. Unlike her father and brother, Talia does not have a relaxed personality and is easily angered. She is still fatal in a fight, especially with her Red Aura. She is sharp tongued and a killer. Is relentless and merciless, but still cares deeply for her siblings and father. Harbors great guilt towards Khioni and resentment towards her mother. Has had a hard life. Is extremely protective towards she cares about.
Abilties include weaponry, Aura, hand-to-hand combat, seduction and, assassination.
·       Hunter: Younger of the twins, though the calmer. Looks exactly like Drew, but with a shorter, narrower face. Hair wavier as well. Was the first to be found, along with his twin by Drew when he was being used as a weapon. Uses his aura in a bit unorthodox way, as he uses them in ‘figurines’ he places his aura into to turn into sentient beings. Star Wars Theory!
This post is Star Wars related. It's my theory for how it's going to play out, specifically the change in position of Kylo and Rey. I am someone who considers myself a casual fan, a bit more recently than during my childhood, perhaps due to the interest I have in what the writing team is going to do to please one of the biggest fan bases on planet Earth. They have a tough job ahead of them, one I do not envy. Okay, maybe I do envy it. Who wouldn't want to help write a Star Wars movie!? Moving on, here is my theory I randomly thought up after the recent trailer inspired me:
*Disclaimer, if this theory or something similar has been posted already, I have not seen it, nor have I gone looking for it, and any similarity would just be a product of living on a planet with almost 8 billion people.
*The crux/tl;dr of the theory is simple; Kylo Ren and Rey are going to "swap" sides. Kylo ren will go to the light, and Rey will fall to the dark side. Now I will back this line of thinking up with all the clues I have, and the logic I have employed from experience as a writer and my passion for writing in general. We don't actually know that much about Rey at all, especially not a lot about her value system. She was abandoned by a Jedi on a dry planet and left to live a miserable existence for her entire life thus far. Without any real parents or anyone to truly take care of her physically, let alone mentally and emotionally, she could very easily be a person with deep-seeded issues who could be prone to alternative thinking and temptation by the dark side. Two, I have a feeling Luke and Rey's inevitable conversation following the first movie isn't going to go as she planned -- Luke thinks the Jedi are a thing of the past, and might decline to teach her in the way that she has dreamt about. She will realize then that it wasn't necessarily being a Jedi that she craved, but power in general -- the power to finally control her own destiny. Snoakes will use this to his advantage when she becomes a "free agent".
*Now on to Kylo, as with the information given thus far I feel most of the clues are for his character. One, redemption stories are among those that people love and identify with most. Mary Sues are boring, and it's the exact reason Superman can never entertain in the same way that Batman can. The first and perhaps most important clue and detail for Kylo Ren's ascent to the light is this: that his prime motivation(that we know for a fact) is to honor and live up to Darth Vader. One of the most iconic and powerful scenes of the first movie, going all the way back to the trailer, is when Kylo is holding Vader's broken helmet and saying to it," I will finish what you started." But let's ask ourselves, what DID Vader start? Did he start the colonization and subjugation of the galaxy? Not even close. He joined the empire after it was already successful and helped it get more successful, sure, but he didn't begin that assault. What he BEGAN, right at the end of his life, was the destruction of the Empire. As we know from episode 6, Vader turns on the Emperor in his final moments, killing him and himself all while saving Luke. Kylo doesn't know this yet, though, hence his position in episode 7 where Snaokes is feeding him what he needs to hear. For this theory to pan out, Luke would have to get this information of Vader's final moments and change of heart to Kylo Ren -- and I think it'll happen. Remember that Kylo's character so far hasn't been of a fully institutionalized Sith, but of a very emotionally torn young man who doesn't know how to live up to Vader.
*Random moments I think will happen that all align with the theory: I think Kylo will save Leia, or at least try, showing us the opposite of what he did before, which is kill his father (under the heavy manipulation of Snoakes).
*Another piece of what I find to be perhaps forshadowing is in regards to how Rey fights. She fights naturally with a staff. I don't know of any Jedi (in canon) who fight with a staff-light saber, and only of one Sith who does: Darth Maul. She is quite the badass with her staff, but looked very awkward when she finally got the light saber in her hands. If Snoakes gets ahold of her and puts a dual-sided light saber in her hands, it would fit perfectly and give her a very plausible quick ascent to power. In other words, it would be BELIEVABLE that she becomes a relatively quick badass with the staff-saber, because shes trained with a staff her whole life (given the information we have).
*Random bits of perspective on writing techniques as a whole in regard to a big franchise like this. It's hard for these writers to surprise fans who have been theory crafting this second trilogy since it was announced. People will be let down if this trilogy ends up being a rehash of the first -- in fact, that has been the very complaint thus far. I think Episode 7 was a setup for the ultimate twist. They cast a pretty, wholesome looking girl as an obvious "good guy" of the new trilogy. No one would ever look at this girl and think "villain material" -- she just doesn't have that look. Adam driver on the other hand, looks like Snape's grandson, a perfect person to cast for a faux villain who becomes the good guy. Hell, this very technique worked flawlessly in Harry Potter, both from a writing point of view and a casting one. If I was going to trick a few billion people, these are the people I would cast for the job.
*PS, thanks to anyone who reads this. I look forward to the thoughts!

Slade Joseph Wilson known as Slade or Deathstroke (Teen Titans, the animated cartoon combined with the dc comics)
Tumblr media
As the first disclaimer.... I will interact with rpers from Teen Titans Go: but do note that I’m not going to dumb down or make Slade any less menacing as he is in the original series. I do expect you to rp your muse as well in a way that’s more fitting to DC or at least have a verse to interact with me. I’m just laidback but also I’m allowing this because on the off-chance someone out there rping ‘The Ravager’, Slade’s Daughter (Rose Wilson) as she appeared in the ‘TT Go series’ along with the comics, albeit I doubt it or Jericho (Or Joseph Wilson) or Grant who also adopted the name (Ravager).
Second disclaimer: He is a HIGHLY controversial character in the movie/comics with his interactions with Terra and manipulating her emotionally in a ‘faked romantic relationship’. Now, I’m going to take that and change it to: he helped her change her feelings when they started showing openly to more of a father and daughter 100% platonic relationship that’s relatively faked for the sake of using her; the man has kids himself he cares about so yeah it conflicts with his character to act on those feelings, let alone let it continue existing as it is. The only reason why I let it still exist but not removing it completely because fuck Marv Wolfman and his creepy writing as I can’t erase that he did that for morality sake by sweeping it under the rug, but I’ll acknowledge it was bad and completely ooc to write Slade/Deathstroke that way. And it is later revealed in the Judas Contract that Changeling (Beast Boy) realized that Slade was not to blame for the choices Terra had made on her own, but they still conspired together. Overall Slade is largely to blame but so is Terra without her good portion of it for going along with it on her own (Not the old creepy relationship I changed, the conspiracy) . (Rebirth also did a good job to change Slade’s interactions with her as well as. Thankfully changing it as Marv Wolfman had really weird and creepy old white man ideas with Deathstroke, so at least it’s not creepy anymore to a point where I can’t tolerate it out of morality sake. Because yeah even the Rebirth writer literally was like: ‘Yeah that’s really weird and not ok, let’s change that kinda and call it out’.)
Third disclaimer: I am using my own variant of Deathstroke/Slade using the more familiar animated cartoon as the biggest base but also the dc comics. I will be using Deathstroke’s massive frame from the cartoon movies/comics along with powers, healing factor and so on along with weaknesses which will be mentioned below. He has a lot of potential as a weapons master and teacher to others on a power scaling that’s more reasonable to deal and interact with. Plus, I enjoy his animated cartoon voice as its silky and smoothly done by Ron Perlman.
Do I want them to win: Yes and no, so long as it’s a long-going arc as Slade is an intelligent villain and one not to be trifled with. He can work with heroes and others if circumstances meet the criteria however. Deathstroke is capable of great feats such as: ‘taking the Titans hostage, beating the Flash, beating Batman, beating Canary and Green Arrow to the point where the Justice League had to step in to stop him from killing Green Arrow’. The reason why Deathstroke is capable of things like this? Isn’t because he’s a big brute fighter like Superman and of the like? He picks fights he knows he can win or prepare for to win. He’s an extremely calculating and intelligent fighter with superhuman abilities, yes, but compared to a lot of the DC universe they’re heavily dwarfed by other metahumans. Deathstroke himself is considered the ‘greatest assassin’ of the DC universe by many heroes and villains alike, but is also an unlikable dick personality wise funnily enough to the point where he’s been threatened into helping or forced into it. As he’s that useful to the point where people hate him, but need him. Villain category and reason: Neutral Villains, as he is more of a mercenary within the series rather than some over the top evil as he is in the cartoon albeit he does shift somewhat toward being an anti hero near the end of the cartoon series more resembling what his character is for what I intend. BUT, I made a compromise and intend to keep him more of a neutral villain to exact revenge on whom he was wronged by. As working with the titans more than once but also fighting them on numerous occasions, it frees up for more teamups with Teen Titans rpers and so on. Update: I’ve also been informed he’s actually trying to be good in his current run and even trying to form a superhero team, but has the fatal flaw of: ‘he’s been an awful, bad person for years and is a douchebag so he messes it up constantly’. So? I’m willing to have him as an anti hero as well if people want to fight alongside him rather than against him, albeit he is a jerk still so his go-to option is probably going to be ‘murder the badguys and hope for the best’. Will I have/get icons: Yes. As he has an entire cartoon series and several movies, but I prefer the cartoon with Ron Perlman. Tag: slated deathstroke Age: 55/150 (Has a healing factor to make him look younger than he is, but overtime it’s starting to fade due to it being imperfect. He’s starting to slowly age, but by that time he’s putting cybernetics in himself for my Deathstroke) Sex: Masculine. Gender: Male. Race: Metahuman (Superhuman) Sexuality: Seemingly Heterosexual. Personality traits: Extremely calm and composed with a silky, soothing and yet sinister voice. Though he’s a mysterious person to allies and enemies alike. Has hinted to share traits with Robin such as a dislike of losing, being furiously dedicated, and almost obsessive to achieve what they want. Clever and calculating, unless he is compromised in his advantage, he will not flee as he only truly appears when he has the upper-hand, making use of his machines and minions. Though if at a disadvantage: Slade will retreat to fight another day. The man is always looking into finding new apprentices to either take willingly or to subjugate through a series of manipulation and ruthless tactics. Though he has shown to care for his children, being his only weakness as he hesitated throughout his fight with Jericho in the comics. He could potentially have an apprentice become a son or daughter-like status, but it would take a lot of time and effort, along with the fact he actively tries to not get attached unless he can without a doubt know they’d remain loyal to him so he could return it, as he has the fatal flaw of not being able to stop being loyal once it’s been made as with his son that turned against him. As it’s demonstrated in his eye a weakness he can never really seem to quite overcome is his own family or made family. Can lose his temper if betrayed even after showing intense loyalty, which is somewhat hypocritical of him, but he in my mind he simply reasons he never intended to be someones’ ally if he intended to betray them from the start or if they become a liability to which in a way was betraying him. Has a seemingly evil and sadistic personality, but overall is a facade of his own coping mechanisms in his own strife and anguish in lashing out, his stubbornness and determination being his downfall usually. Mental traits: Utilizes 90% of his brain capacity, making him a super genius. His healing factor while useful, has a downside if anything would’ve been fatal? Causes him to go beserk and rabid, a temporary insanity that he recovers from within a short amount of time. Physical traits: A massive and husky frame, he stands in at around 7′4 from what I’ve calculated from the comics and the movies in some variants. Wears a mask covering the eye he lost before obtaining his healing factor. But maintains his aesthetic from the animated cartoon Teen Titans while incorporating some of his DC looks and aesthetic along with weaponry, such as guns, swords, broadswords, and so on depending on the situation. Powers: Deathstroke is an expert in many forms of unarmed combat and martial arts as well, serving as a master of Bojutsu, Boxing, Jojutsu, Judo, Jojitsu, Karate, and Ninjustu. He also has a regeneration factor.  (Which I’ve decided he’ll at least regrow lost limbs so he can get them cut off at least, but take a bit more time to regrow than say Deadpool or something, but it’ll allow another muse to at least not hold back against him. So yes I’m doing this for the sake of allowing another rper to be able to absolutely beat the hell out of him). He is highly proficient in the use of various firearms and melee weapons, and is an extremely powerful combatant under the right circumstances, even when given ‘The God Killer’ was he able to take on supernatural deities, a kryptonian and a half-amazon demigoddess at his peak. Then just has your typical metahuman stats of: superhuman strength, agility, endurance, reflexes, senses and so on. Has good persuasion skills with other individuals. Motivations: To exact revenge against those that hurt and attempted to hurt his family at nearly any cost, killing corrupt government officials and of the like. Along with keeping his family alive..... but not at the cost of using his healing factor to save his wife which was one of his deepest regrets after what it did to her mentally. Backstory: It’s. A long one. If you want a simple backstory? That’s fine, but if you plan on being more indepth with Slade/Deathstroke, I suggest reading Deathstroke’s wiki and Slade’s wiki for both of their counterparts as I do incorporate both of them to be both familiar and a place of discovery if people want to stay in the comfort zone of going with what they know of either variant by combining both of them so anything they say or do toward him isn’t really wrong (Other than the really gross stuff I rework to him because jesus Marv Wolfman is weird). And if people want to stay confined to a more simple plot-line with him as in Teen Titans Animated Cartoon? They can while also on the other hand if they want to discover his motivations and his continuation to be who he is? They can as well. Deathstroke/Slade by all means is a bad person who is ultimately bad for his own goals and reasons, but is also willing to be bad for those he actually cares about even if they remain few and far between. Thus while a tragic villain, he is still a villain at the end of the day and still capable of making bonds and family as part of his canon. He is a complex character to a degree and someone that while bad? I plan on making him compelling as he does target corrupt government officials and avoids killing innocent people most of the time. Most of the time anyway.

How would Batman cover up Robin's and Jason Todd's death, making sure no one connected the two as the same person.
How would Batman cover up Robin’s and Jason Todd’s death, making sure no one connected the two as the same person.
This is a question that’s bothered me for a long time and I think I’ve figured out how. Bruce could make a fake news headline stating that, “Robin, the Boy Wonder Dies Trying to Save Bruce Wayne’s Ward, Jason Todd”.
It could be written more gracefully but you get the idea. Bruce owns the daily planet so he can basically publish whatever he wants.
Right after Jason’s death, the Joker gains diplomatic immunity and Superman is sent to prevent Batman from beating him to an inch within his life. I want this incident to put a huge rift between Bruce and Clark, metaphorically putting an end to “The World’s Finest”. Once they considered themselves the best of friends and now Bruce coldly refers to their relationship as long-term acquaintances. No more jokes or teasing between the two. Batman tries to finish the mission as quickly as possible and the moment he’s done, he disappears. If there are other people, he divides the group so that he’s with someone else and Clark is in the opposite direction. Bruce also dodges Clark all the time to the point where Clark gives up after trying so hard for so long. As opposed to in the past where he usually lingers a little to make small talk before slipping away.
I also imagine that Lois has just given birth to Jon. I’m not a mother but I’m sure that the birth of a first child is magical. And because of that she has become somewhat soft hearted. Which gives Bruce the leverage he needs to convince/persuade/emotionally blackmails Lois into writing the article about Jason and Robin even though she is a strict believer in finding and only reporting the Truth.
Bruce kind of convinces her by guilting her of what she would feel like if she lost her son and by pressuring her of possible consequences of ppl linking Robin to Jason and him to Batman. He may also tell her/make up a story about how the Justice League is in full swing only because “he, Bruce” the “human” is there to control these God-like creatures. And because he has no powers and can still take down the Justice League, that is why the American Government lets the League function. He can also say that he bribes many ppl on the inside of the government to look the other way regarding superman as he has singlehandedly produced enough damage as Hurricane Katrina because of his powers. (Okay that may or may not be an exaggeration but you get my point)
The reason Bruce asks her to write the article is because Lois is a “famous” news reporter and is thus “trustworthy” so if Bruce can get the story published under her name, no one would really ask any questions.
Batman also has a camera recording everything that goes on when he puts on the cowl so he could choose many images to forge the cover picture for the article. Since he made it a point to master multiple technologies to hack into systems and to keep his identity safe, I imagine he also mastered image manipulation and that he begrudgingly uses them to forge an appropriate image for the “occasion”.
This incident not only distances Bruce from Clark, but also the rest of his friends from the League which is why none of them are there for Jason’s funeral, as in he didn’t or Alfred didn’t invite them.
The funeral is obviously private because Bruce doesn’t want to deal with the media right now. The attendees are Bruce, Alfred, Barbara(Oracle), Commissioner Gordon, Lucius Fox (and his son Luke maybe?), Leslie Thompson, maybe Selina, AND DICK GRAYSON DAMNIT.
WHY THE HELL WAS HE NOT INFORMED OF JASON’S DEATH?!?! ALFRED SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED HIM FIRST LIKE YOUR YOUNGER SON JUST DIED SO YOU SHOULD HAVE THE DECENCY TO TELL YOUR OLDER SON. THIS NEVER FAILS TO ANNOY ME. IM JUST GONNA WRITE THIS OFF AS A MISTAKE ON DC’S PART BECAUSE THEY LIKE MAN PAIN AND DECIDED THEY WERE GONNA PUT MORE ANGST FOR BOTH BRUCE AND DICK.
The members of the Justice League, and some from the Young Justice team come visit a few at a time to check up on Bruce but Bruce is locked up in his or Jason’s room so Alfred attends to them.
I feel like Conner from the Young Justice TV show (the introvert softy but with rage issues) would have been able to relate to Jason the most because they were both kind of “replacements for the originals”. Conner being a replacement for Clark and Jason being a replacement for Dick. Although the latter isn’t completely true, many of Dick’s team mates (Teen Titans I mean here. The Young Justice team dealt with clones of Superman and Roy Harper and Artemis “replacing” Roy as the archer in the team- this team didn’t mind too much so Jason got along with them better) probably felt that way and didn’t warm up to Jason too quickly and kind of gave him dirty looks when Dick wasn’t looking. By the time they realized their mistake, Jason would have passed away. Conner losing someone for the first time and trying to act fine but then breaks down in his room privately because he doesn’t want to be seen.
I feel like Jason and Conner would be good friends. Like, Conner is the quiet type and Jason I think is considered an extrovert. And because Jason is Nightwing’s “little bro” Conner decides to humor him and listen to what he’s saying. Jason had high grades in school(his grade average was like a 94%. Even his teacher thought he needed to chill. Lol when you’re so op everybody is jealous) and I think he was super into reading. So because he would read a lot, he was exposed to different lines of thinking and he shared those open minded ideas with Conner because Conner actively listened but also because Conner was too afraid of offending Jason and in turn rubbing Dick the wrong way, so he always listened, nodding and answering when necessary. Pretty soon he found himself talking and debating with Jason and reading the things that Jason recommended.
This is what got Conner to unfortunately break up with Megan (m'gann??). Because Conner was exposed to these ideas that Lobotomy was wrong and that all people have certain rights, even though they may be trash, inequality, violence, rape??(Jason ran into a few incidents with rape victims during his run as Robin so maybe he vented to Conner instead of Bruce because of Bruce’s no kill rule and Bruce can sometimes be a brick wall), laws, psychology, philosophy, etc.
This is what got Conner thinking about what Megan was doing and confronting her about it. Then being strong enough to break up with the person he was the most closest to and had been with him his whole life because he knew what she was doing was wrong and was strong enough not to ignore it.
I feel like this says a lot about him and it would develop his character. Because at the very beginning, he was this guy with rage issues who didn’t like to listen to people. Then, once his rage issues slowly decreasing, he obediently follows orders or suggestions(or politely declines??? Season 2 his birthday he declines going out with that other chick??? I don’t remember am I just making things up??) and becomes much more easy to approach and nicer. Lessening his ego to ask Canary to teach him how to fight properly and later happily sparring with Aqualad in season 1.
Near the middle of season 2 he has “the talk” with Megan (but his break up was during the time skip…he still took suggestion and orders seriously tho like how he should read previous reports of missions to increase his general and battle field knowledge) which shows that despite being obedient to his what the league tells him and to his peers who have lived much longer than him and generally know what’s best, he can still think on his own and isn’t a “yes-man” to everybody.
I also feel like Megan and Conner getting back together destroyed the whole character development in a sense because when people recall their relationship, they will probably glaze over why they broke up in the first place. Usually saying things like, “oh yeah and they broke up for two seconds and got back together again”.
Even though at the beginning I was all for the two to be together, I think it was good that they showed an actual break up because that happens in life. You can both love each other with all your hearts and still not be “meant to be”.
I didn’t like how quickly Megan got with Lagoon boy but honestly I’m glad because then I wouldn’t have to barf through them flirty and finally getting together so I kind of appreciate it in a sense. Doesn’t mean I like it, but still.
And although I don’t like Lagoon boy either, I was hoping that he would stay together with Megan. I didn’t like that she broke it off. Even though Conner may have been right about the “rebound guy” part, that didn’t mean she had to break it off. It would have been nice to see her have a healthy relationship after a break up. That’s something that’s kind of rare in most tv dramas. Or maybe I just wanted to have a sure fire way to make sure Conner and Megan didn’t get back together again.
I would also like to commend Megan for acknowledging her mistakes and apologizing to Conner for it. (Although it took jacking up and fixing Aqualad’s brains to do it. )
Well this post went in a completely different direction then what I expected. So this is what a 180 looks like. I have no regrets. These are my headcannons. This is my life and these are my choices. I bet like no one is gonna read this because it is so long…… I’m sorry. I don’t know how to do the thing with the read more button and it cuts off a fourth in.
